- 0:19Speaker 1: full round, book your tea time today. Golf dot Breck
- 0:23Speaker 1: dot org. Golf dot Breck dot org. Orbit motion for Kamara,
- 0:28Speaker 1: but an inside hand off to Kendre Miller.
- 0:30Speaker 2: He's getting pushed by Fuaga, still on his feet inside
- 0:33Speaker 2: the five down. The whole scrum has pushed him into
- 0:36Speaker 2: the end zone. Put the touchdown.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Mike Casus on the.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Call, Saint Scott on the board first with Kendre Miller,
- 0:45Speaker 1: HM a guy that was ready to return, and Dennis
- 0:48Speaker 1: Allen put him on ir Ah boy.
- 0:50Speaker 3: There is a h an.
- 0:52Speaker 1: E true Hollywood story or ESPN thirty for thirty to
- 0:56Speaker 1: be told about that someday. The relationship there, the icy
- 0:58Speaker 1: relationship with Kendre Miller and Dennis Allen.
- 1:01Speaker 3: But you know it's one.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Of those things where Darren Rizzy came in said, he
- 1:06Speaker 1: gave everybody a clean slate. Had a one on one
- 1:08Speaker 1: with Kendre Miller and body. Miller maximized that opportunity. One
- 1:12Speaker 1: of my big takeaways. Just ten ten carries for just
- 1:15Speaker 1: thirty two yards with that touchdown run. The balance on
- 1:18Speaker 1: a sideline run. If you watch the game, Miller was
- 1:21Speaker 1: hend to the sideline spun back in dove to the sticks,
- 1:24Speaker 1: great awareness and balance. I had a thirty one yard
- 1:27Speaker 1: kickoff return as well. Really really nice day for Kendrey Miller.
- 1:31Speaker 1: By the way, here was Darren Rizzy on Kendre Miller's return.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Kendre again is showing you why we drafted him where
- 1:37Speaker 2: we drafted him. He made some really really dynamic runs.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I thought, you know, Kendra has a unique ability of
- 1:42Speaker 2: making an eight yard run look really really good, you know,
- 1:44Speaker 2: making people miss getting some tough yards and again just
- 1:48Speaker 2: a small sample there, but again the touchdown run he
- 1:50Speaker 2: has where he just keeps his you know parent And
- 1:52Speaker 2: when I talked about in the beginning we could change
- 1:54Speaker 2: a pace back, That's really what I was talking about.
- 1:56Speaker 2: You know, a guy that can just have a little
- 1:58Speaker 2: bit of a different style and it's a big deal,
- 2:00Speaker 2: you know, we'll losing taste them. You know, we don't
- 2:01Speaker 2: become one dimensional with Alvin. We have another guy that's
- 2:04Speaker 2: that can get some get us some tough yards. And
- 2:05Speaker 2: so you saw the flashes today of the athletic A building.
- 2:08Speaker 2: That's that's the guy we knew we were drafting.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Saints won fourteen to eleven.
- 2:12Speaker 1: And make no mistake, these were two bad football teams
- 2:15Speaker 1: and that was a bad football game. But somebody had
- 2:18Speaker 1: to win. Like the rules literally say, somebody has to
- 2:20Speaker 1: win unless if they tie, but that's pretty rare. So
- 2:26Speaker 1: somebody had to win, and the Saints did so the
- 2:28Speaker 1: Saints moved to five and eight. Some of my takeaways
- 2:32Speaker 1: from the game there was good and bad. And while
- 2:44Speaker 1: I understand the Saints mathematically are still alive for the playoffs,
- 2:49Speaker 1: I do not believe that is realistic, especially now with
- 2:51Speaker 1: Derek Carr's injury. I didn't believe it before Derek Carrs injury.
- 2:54Speaker 1: The Saints for all intensive purposes, would have to win
- 2:57Speaker 1: out to finish nine to eight and and get a
- 3:00Speaker 1: little help as well.
- 3:02Speaker 3: You don't control your own destiny.
- 3:04Speaker 1: So I'm more looking at the remainder this season to say, right,
- 3:09Speaker 1: what can we learn about this team to build on
- 3:11Speaker 1: for the future. And there's some things I really like.
- 3:15Speaker 1: For example, Brian Berzi had a monster day against the
- 3:22Speaker 1: New York Giants. He batted two balls at the line
- 3:25Speaker 1: of scrimmage, he had a sack. He now leads your team,
- 3:28Speaker 1: by the way, with seven and a half sacks. He's
- 3:30Speaker 1: tied Larroy Glover on the single season sack list for
- 3:34Speaker 1: the New Orleans Saints. Like, that's a big yo. There've
- 3:38Speaker 1: been a bad defense and it feels quiet. But Brazils
- 3:41Speaker 1: had some moments and then of course he blocked the
- 3:44Speaker 1: feudal at the end of the game to win it
- 3:46Speaker 1: for the Saints on one of the most athletic plays
- 3:48Speaker 1: you'll ever see from a big man, where he hurdled
- 3:51Speaker 1: the center. Remember you can't use leverage, so we couldn't
- 3:53Speaker 1: put his hands on the center. He just had to
- 3:56Speaker 1: hurdle the entire line, which he did and blocked the
- 3:59Speaker 1: fuel and won the freaking game. He's you invested a
- 4:02Speaker 1: first round draft pick in that guy a year ago,
- 4:04Speaker 1: and he is materializing and developing into someone that you
- 4:07Speaker 1: feel like can be a stalwart in the interior that line.
- 4:10Speaker 3: For a long time, here was Darren Rizzy on Brezi's
- 4:12Speaker 3: Day and.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Really the last couple of weeks, right, and we talked
- 4:15Speaker 2: about that during the week. You know, he's a guy
- 4:16Speaker 2: that's that's just I feel like his best football is
- 4:19Speaker 2: still out there and you see this flashes of brilliance
- 4:22Speaker 2: out of the player between the pass rush the field
- 4:24Speaker 2: goal block. You know, he's made a couple of huge
- 4:26Speaker 2: plays a couple of weeks in a row. You've seen
- 4:28Speaker 2: a lot of the reasons. You know, we drafted the player,
- 4:30Speaker 2: we drafted Brian in the first round, you know, and
- 4:32Speaker 2: so these are some of the things we talked about.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Some of the things. He continued to get better at
- 4:36Speaker 2: first second down, but man, his pass rush is field
- 4:38Speaker 2: goal rush, those things have been outstanding.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Now.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Brazi's blocked field goal was a great part of special teams,
- 4:46Speaker 1: but for the most part, on Sunday, special teams was
- 4:49Speaker 1: a fiasco. Blake Groopy missed a field goal at the
- 4:53Speaker 1: end of the first half, Blake Groupy had a.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Field goal blocked.
- 4:57Speaker 1: You allowed a punt return for a touchdown that was
- 5:00Speaker 1: called back because as we mentioned, these are two bad
- 5:03Speaker 1: football teams, and the Giants had an inexplicable holding penalty
- 5:06Speaker 1: that wouldn't have affected the play, but negated a return
- 5:09Speaker 1: punt for a touchdown. It was so egregious in every
- 5:14Speaker 1: part of the execution that your interim head coach, who
- 5:17Speaker 1: as we mentioned, is also the special teams coordinator, threw
- 5:20Speaker 1: his hat and undressed the rookie punter as he walked
- 5:23Speaker 1: off the field all the way to the side, and
- 5:25Speaker 1: it was so blatant that Alvin Kamara had to come
- 5:28Speaker 1: over and separate Darren Rizzy from Matthew hay Ball. God
- 5:32Speaker 1: blessed Matthew hay Ball for that moment. But I don't
- 5:35Speaker 1: not mad at Darren Rizidah. It's football. Go yell at
- 5:37Speaker 1: your eye if you want to yell at your guy.
- 5:39Speaker 1: It was a a pretty unspectacular day on special teams,
- 5:44Speaker 1: which was not good to see. But again, Brazi made
- 5:48Speaker 1: the play late to win it, which was which was fantastic.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Maybe the most disappointing part of the day was the
- 5:55Speaker 1: offensive line, because we've talked about the impact of injuries
- 6:01Speaker 1: on this offensive line all the way back to the
- 6:03Speaker 1: start of the season. First two weeks you were leading
- 6:07Speaker 1: the NFL in scoring. Your offense was unstoppable. We now
- 6:12Speaker 1: know that happened against Carolina and Dallas, and new of
- 6:14Speaker 1: those teams are worth a flip, so big part of
- 6:16Speaker 1: why you were as good as you were. But as
- 6:19Speaker 1: soon as Eric McCoy went down against the Eagles, boom
- 6:21Speaker 1: everything changed. Then Taysom went down against the against the Falcons,
- 6:24Speaker 1: and boom everything changed you and you scuffled. This was
- 6:28Speaker 1: the first time that you had your your starting offensive
- 6:31Speaker 1: line back together since Week three, and man, you just
- 6:38Speaker 1: weren't good. And you were facing a Giants defensive line
- 6:42Speaker 1: that didn't have Dexter Lawrence, who's the most disruptive interior
- 6:46Speaker 1: player statistically in the NFL this year. That Dexter Lawrence
- 6:52Speaker 1: wasn't there, you had your healthy offensive line, and you
- 6:55Speaker 1: averaged two point eight yards per carry, massively disappointing day.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I think Talisa, for one, played the worst game of
- 7:01Speaker 1: his young NFL career so far, and you had hoped
- 7:05Speaker 1: for better. With four games to go, we'll see if
- 7:07Speaker 1: all these guys can remain healthy, if they continue to
- 7:09Speaker 1: play better here over the final month of the season.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And of course, the biggest part of this was the
- 7:17Speaker 1: Derek Carr injury, and I loved the effort by Derek Carr.
- 7:25Speaker 1: You know it's four minutes to play. You're up fourteen
- 7:27Speaker 1: to eleven, so you're up three. You got the ball.
- 7:30Speaker 1: It's second and ten. Car going to the sideline, and
- 7:33Speaker 1: then when airborne landed hard broke his hand. We now
- 7:36Speaker 1: know his left hand, non throwing hand suffered what appears
- 7:39Speaker 1: to be a concussion. Is he's in the protocol right now.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I love the effort. I don't love that he went
- 7:44Speaker 1: airborne on second and ten. You're right at the sticks.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Go out of bounds or stay in and let the
- 7:51Speaker 1: clock run. I guess clock would run anyways. It is
- 7:53Speaker 1: four minutes ago, and you get two downs to get
- 7:57Speaker 1: a yard. Derek Carr gives you your best opportunity to
- 8:02Speaker 1: win games. I don't think you're gonna win many games
- 8:04Speaker 1: the rest of the way anyway, but that's certainly a
- 8:09Speaker 1: disappointing part. Listen, there were other things. Our guy Ross
- 8:13Speaker 1: Jackson over Louisiana Sports Suet every week does a Numbers
- 8:15Speaker 1: to no piece where he gives you some impressive stats
- 8:19Speaker 1: and numbers from the game, like Pro Football Focus credited
- 8:22Speaker 1: to the Saints with one mistackle one mistackle. Remember how much
- 8:28Speaker 1: of a bugaboo that was during that three game losing
- 8:31Speaker 1: streak or the seven game losing streak, but without Derek
- 8:36Speaker 1: Carr the Broncos. The double digit misstackles the Chiefs was atrocious.
- 8:42Speaker 1: One mistackle on Sunday. There were some incredible parts of
- 8:47Speaker 1: this as well. Chase Young had ten quarterback pressures against
- 8:51Speaker 1: the Giants, ten that tied a career high. I thought
- 8:56Speaker 1: a lotta Taylor played a really good game. The numbers
- 8:58Speaker 1: bore it out. Allowed just two catches on six targets,
- 9:03Speaker 1: force a fifty eight point three A passer rating when
- 9:06Speaker 1: he was targeted. Alantae Taylor had a beautiful breakup on
- 9:09Speaker 1: a play on the sideline where it looked like Milite
- 9:11Speaker 1: Nabors was going to make the catch. Taylor fought him
- 9:14Speaker 1: to the ground, pulled the ball out. There are some
- 9:17Speaker 1: really nice things to like individually that as you look
- 9:21Speaker 1: forward for this team, are encouraging for Zee. I mentioned
- 9:26Speaker 1: Alante Taylor, Kendre Miller. These are going to be the
- 9:28Speaker 1: building blocks for the Saints moving forward, as you continue
- 9:32Speaker 1: to draft, as you continue to hit free agency, to
- 9:35Speaker 1: rebuild this roster into what we all hope can be
- 9:38Speaker 1: a contender. So you want to see these young players
- 9:41Speaker 1: continue to play well, and a lot of them did.
- 9:44Speaker 1: The terrible part is you couldn't finish the game. I mean,
- 9:48Speaker 1: I mean, you're at fourteen to three in the fourth quarter,
- 9:50Speaker 1: you allow a bomb to elite neighbors, a short yardage touchdown,
- 9:54Speaker 1: the two point conversion off of deflection, and just like that,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you're in a dogfight. Even after you got the interception
- 9:58Speaker 1: from the Mario Davis, which looked like it was going
- 9:59Speaker 1: to end it, Darren Rizzie said, look, I mean the
- 10:03Speaker 1: way that that game ended, it should have never gone
- 10:06Speaker 1: that way.
- 10:07Speaker 2: We've got to do a better job of finishing games.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And we get the ball back there at the end,
- 10:11Speaker 2: we don't get a first down, you know, we come
- 10:13Speaker 2: up on third and short, we don't get the first
- 10:14Speaker 2: We got a punt and we gave it back to them.
- 10:16Speaker 2: You get the ball back, and I think we had
- 10:17Speaker 2: two situations today where we got the ball back with
- 10:19Speaker 2: a chance to kind of end the game, and we
- 10:21Speaker 2: didn't do that. So that's where we got to be better.
- 10:23Speaker 2: But our defense, clearly in the first half was much
- 10:26Speaker 2: better than our offensive special teams, and it held them
- 10:28Speaker 2: to three points. And that's why we were, you know,
- 10:30Speaker 2: in good position.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So defense is good against a very bad Giants team.
- 10:35Speaker 1: The challenge increases exponentially with Washington coming to the Superdome
- 10:40Speaker 1: this week. We'll see how they fare.
