- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on your basic Uh huh, I sure will. A
- 0:05Speaker 1: good morning everybody you are listening to the voice, Come
- 0:10Speaker 1: on now, digny if you will. One and only, Steve
- 0:13Speaker 1: Harvey got a radio show, you know, one of the
- 0:17Speaker 1: things about being successful. And I was sharing this just
- 0:21Speaker 1: the other day with a young man and he asked me.
- 0:26Speaker 1: He said, hey, man, I just don't see how you
- 0:30Speaker 1: get up that early in the morning. I just don't
- 0:33Speaker 1: see how, man, it would kill me to get up
- 0:36Speaker 1: this early in the morning. Well, I sat down and
- 0:39Speaker 1: I'm listening to it because it's just a thousand times
- 0:41Speaker 1: I've heard it, you know, and my life is, you know,
- 0:44Speaker 1: not too different from a lot of people's lives. There's
- 0:46Speaker 1: a lot of people out there that rise early. And
- 0:50Speaker 1: I just sit there, man, because I mean, first of all,
- 0:53Speaker 1: I'm grateful to be able to have a job, and
- 0:55Speaker 1: I'm so grateful to be able to do one and
- 0:58Speaker 1: several that I happened to enjoy are doing. I mean,
- 1:00Speaker 1: you know, it's work, and it's difficult at times, but
- 1:03Speaker 1: I mean, you know I wanted this. You know you
- 1:06Speaker 1: got it. You know, you can't ask God for nothing,
- 1:08Speaker 1: any give it to you then be mad that you
- 1:10Speaker 1: got it don't make no sense. You know. The problem
- 1:12Speaker 1: with asking God for stuff is a lot of times
- 1:15Speaker 1: we asking for stuff, we don't really know what all
- 1:17Speaker 1: it encompasses, what all it really is. And I ask
- 1:20Speaker 1: for this. Now along the way, I've gotten far more
- 1:23Speaker 1: than I asked for. I want you to do. Understand that,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and you know that's His grace at work in my life.
- 1:30Speaker 1: But I get up early and I go to work
- 1:33Speaker 1: because I do understand something that it is not walking
- 1:36Speaker 1: up to you. Nobody walks up to people normally and
- 1:40Speaker 1: just hand them checks all the time, and enough checks
- 1:43Speaker 1: to sustain your life, and not only sustain it, but
- 1:46Speaker 1: to have a life that where you could enjoy and
- 1:49Speaker 1: do some of the things you want to do. I
- 1:51Speaker 1: don't know the person that walks out hands out that
- 1:53Speaker 1: money just to be doing it. And then with a
- 1:56Speaker 1: lifestyle though, where you can you know, give your key
- 2:00Speaker 1: a Christmas, you know, take your family on vacation, you
- 2:03Speaker 1: know a year once a year. I don't know nobody
- 2:05Speaker 1: passing out to kind of money. So I get up
- 2:06Speaker 1: early in the morning and I get at it. I
- 2:09Speaker 1: was taught to get up early in the morning by
- 2:12Speaker 1: my father because my father says, ain't nothing gonna come
- 2:16Speaker 1: to you while you lay in there. And you know what,
- 2:19Speaker 1: it's just true, man, it's just a little common sense.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Little old people smart man, they've been around a long time.
- 2:24Speaker 1: You don't get old. You know some old foods out there,
- 2:26Speaker 1: but you know you don't have to deal with them.
- 2:28Speaker 1: But old people are pretty smart, man. They've learned a
- 2:31Speaker 1: lot along the way. And waking up early and getting
- 2:33Speaker 1: at it is one of them things. And I ask
- 2:35Speaker 1: everybody man to think about this scenario of your life.
- 2:39Speaker 1: If a day has twenty four hours in it, and
- 2:42Speaker 1: let's just say you choose to sleep eight of those
- 2:45Speaker 1: hours because they tell you need eight hours sleep, so
- 2:50Speaker 1: you sleep eight hours. That's a third of your life
- 2:53Speaker 1: asleep already, Just a third of your life is spent
- 2:58Speaker 1: a sleep if you gonna do eight hours today. Now,
- 3:01Speaker 1: let's say you have a job that you work eight
- 3:04Speaker 1: hours and it is not the job of your dreams.
- 3:06Speaker 1: It's not your dream career, your dream profession. It's just
- 3:09Speaker 1: the one you took, like all of us, to get
- 3:12Speaker 1: it started. And then, like all of us, some of
- 3:14Speaker 1: us end up having to state that because we've created
- 3:17Speaker 1: these bills, because we checked and check. So we can't
- 3:19Speaker 1: leave it because we'll lose what we've worked for. So
- 3:22Speaker 1: let's just say you got a job that you go
- 3:24Speaker 1: to work to for eight hours. That's another third of
- 3:27Speaker 1: your life. That's two thirds of your life. Feel how
- 3:31Speaker 1: you want to feel about your two thirds? Well, I
- 3:33Speaker 1: like sleep. Okay, cool, there's a scripture about that too.
- 3:36Speaker 1: But now you spent two thirds of your life, one
- 3:38Speaker 1: on a job you don't care for if you're not
- 3:40Speaker 1: happy that, or one that just pays the bills and
- 3:42Speaker 1: it's not your dream job or career. Another third of
- 3:45Speaker 1: your life is sleep. Oh now, let's hold on. Let's
- 3:47Speaker 1: talk about the one hour of preparation that it may
- 3:50Speaker 1: take to get to the job. That's seventeen hours. Let's
- 3:54Speaker 1: say your drive time, let's say getting to your job
- 3:57Speaker 1: for the average person is anywhere between thirty to an hour.
- 4:01Speaker 1: That's an average of what it takes to average person. Now,
- 4:04Speaker 1: some people out there hustling way harder than that. But
- 4:06Speaker 1: let's just say your average is an hour getting to work.
- 4:10Speaker 1: You add another hour to that going to work. You've
- 4:13Speaker 1: now spent eighteen hours out of the twenty four doing
- 4:18Speaker 1: something that's either non productive you're not happy with, you're
- 4:22Speaker 1: not pleased about. It is not your dream job, it's
- 4:25Speaker 1: not your dream profession. And rest of the time you
- 4:27Speaker 1: sleep eighteen hours. Now you got to come from the job,
- 4:30Speaker 1: so let's just say it's another hour to get back home.
- 4:32Speaker 1: That's nineteen hours. Nineteen hours out of a twenty four
- 4:35Speaker 1: hour day. You now have five hours left in your day.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Oh you watch TV two hours a day. Okay, excuse me.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Let's put now you put two hours of TV on
- 4:45Speaker 1: that you've just spent twenty one. You now have three
- 4:47Speaker 1: hours in the day to do something super productive for
- 4:53Speaker 1: the development of yourself and the future of your family,
- 4:57Speaker 1: and your future as a person and what you can
- 5:00Speaker 1: vibe for your family. Uh oh, I need to chill.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I need to smoke one. Uh Oh, I needed some
- 5:08Speaker 1: time at Happy. I seem like all I do is
- 5:11Speaker 1: dry to work and go to work. I'm gonna go
- 5:14Speaker 1: out with the fellas drink one. Okay, let's say you
- 5:18Speaker 1: spend two hours at Happy. Ill nobody go to a
- 5:20Speaker 1: Happy Hours yet four hours. Let's say you spend two
- 5:23Speaker 1: hours at Happy, I'll all smokeing all some video games
- 5:26Speaker 1: and let's do that. Is there two hours of smoking,
- 5:28Speaker 1: chilling video games. That's twenty three hours of your day gone.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Don't you see how your day slips away from you?
- 5:36Speaker 1: So why would you get up early? You get up
- 5:39Speaker 1: early to get a jump. You get up early to produce,
- 5:43Speaker 1: to plan, to become productive. You get up early in
- 5:47Speaker 1: the morning to care about every single minute of your day.
- 5:51Speaker 1: You wake up early in the morning because you have
- 5:53Speaker 1: a plan, a mission, You have something you want to accomplish.
- 5:57Speaker 1: The earlier you get up, the more time you have
- 5:59Speaker 1: just for you to devote to your plan. You map
- 6:02Speaker 1: it out, you make them, send some emails, whatever it
- 6:05Speaker 1: is you need to do to get your dream on
- 6:08Speaker 1: the way. Then you go get ready. Then you get
- 6:11Speaker 1: in your car and go to work. Then you go
- 6:13Speaker 1: to your job, but on your job, instead of sitting
- 6:16Speaker 1: at your lunch break messing around with a bunch of
- 6:18Speaker 1: people laughing and talking about nothing, playing dominoes, why don't
- 6:21Speaker 1: you take that hour to do some more research, to
- 6:24Speaker 1: send out some more emails, to put some feelings out there,
- 6:27Speaker 1: to see what can get you in the place that
- 6:30Speaker 1: you want to be. Then when you get off, instead
- 6:33Speaker 1: of driving straight home, why don't you go somewhere in
- 6:35Speaker 1: a meeting, you take in a session with some people
- 6:38Speaker 1: in a positive mental state, group of people that get together.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Network for business, not drink at happy hour, I said,
- 6:45Speaker 1: network for business. So after you've done that eight that
- 6:47Speaker 1: you don't really care for on a job, you spend
- 6:50Speaker 1: some more time pursuing, looking into researching, working towards, sending
- 6:55Speaker 1: out some more applications, putting in some more time to
- 6:59Speaker 1: build your new app discussing some more networking ideas. Okay,
- 7:03Speaker 1: that's your happy hour. Then when you go home, instead
- 7:06Speaker 1: of chilling, drinking one, having a cold, one, smoking one,
- 7:10Speaker 1: playing a video game, why don't you take that two
- 7:13Speaker 1: hours and devote that to that business idea. You got
- 7:16Speaker 1: to that family that you talk about, you really want
- 7:19Speaker 1: spend some time with your children, put something into them.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Do something. Man, with all these precious hours that God
- 7:26Speaker 1: gives all of us in the course of a day,
- 7:28Speaker 1: take advantage of every minute of that. No human being
- 7:32Speaker 1: has more than twenty four hours a day, including myself.
- 7:36Speaker 1: But if you care about every single minute of that day,
- 7:41Speaker 1: you'll be amazed at how much you could get accomplished
- 7:44Speaker 1: in a twenty four hour day. But you can't get
- 7:47Speaker 1: none of that happening because you sleep, and you chilling
- 7:51Speaker 1: and you smoking. Okay, what has that done for you,
- 7:55Speaker 1: your family, or your future? Care about every minute of
- 7:58Speaker 1: your day listening to The Steve Harvey Morning Show
