- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, starring Kristen Wig,
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: Laura Dern, Allison, Janie, Ricky Martin, Carol Burnett, Josh Lucas, it just goes on and on.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: And in fact, it also stars Amber Shardy Robinson who we talked to last season.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to also include that interview at the end of this one with Abe Silvia.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: But a little bit about Palm Royale.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't watched it yet, the true underdog story that follows Maxine Delacourt, played by Christian Wig, as she endeavors to find her footing in the cut-through world of Palm Beach High Society.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: As Maxine attempts to cross the impermeable line between the halves and the half knots, Paul Royale asks the same question that still baffles us today, how much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Paul Royale is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: In season two, Maxine has left a social pariah after a scandalous public breakdown.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: She'll have to draw on her deep well of cleverness and cunning to prove once and for all that not only does she belong, but she might have what it takes to rule the town.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: Along the way, she's going to uncover truths and finally understand what this town is truly built on.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Secrets lies in the occasional felony.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's received 11 Emmy Award nominations already, and Abe and I are going to talk about this second season.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I want to hear from Abe how far he's got this story in mind.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you've watched it, you need what you don't need it, but someone who put it together must have had the red yarn going to say, well, this character, and this character, and this plotland.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: they do it wonderfully.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: You never get lost in the whole thing.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: You never get confused.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, it's so beautiful to watch too.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: That late 60's Southern Florida extravagance is all over the screen.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to talk about the stories and coming up with those plot lines.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: I also want to talk about the themes, especially this season, exploring feminism and female relationships.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: All
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: on Apple TV Plus, it's Kyle Meredith with Abe Sylvia.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: Hi, how are you?
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: Compliments on the second season of Palm Royale.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you very much.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: Bigger, flashier and my the twists and turns.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: You all have a bike up with.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: Seriously, there is so many here.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have like a red yarn board that you keep track of all of this with?
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it's in here.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's that's dangerous is a dangerous place to be yes, but but with a story like how much how much do you know the story did well how much did you know the story going into this season or or do you let the dust settle before you start figuring all that out
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: We started writing season two before season one had even aired.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: So the writer's room was open while I was in post-production on season one.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: And so as we were working on the finale, I was working on the final edit of the finale.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_02]: I was breaking episode one of season two.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: And so which was actually a real gift.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: didn't, you know, I didn't have to worry about the audience's response to things.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't writing to a reaction.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: And that's very, one wouldn't think so, but that's actually very liberating, to not have the junk of, of, of, not junk, I should say, not, you know, the, the, the with the pearls of wisdom that come from the internet.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: And for me,
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well set, story telling.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, but still, that's a lot to hang on to to get there.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I can understand why that would make sense for you to be allowed that do you still have that allowance?
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I guess how far do you project a story knowing that things could change?
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: We always want to have you always want.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_02]: to leave yourself with some place to go, that you're always, especially on this show, always leaving the characters in an extreme enough circumstance that it gives you enough narrative fodder for the next episode.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: And then, and secondly, that, you know,
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: that it is also mirrors, you know, it's not just extreme situations, that the extreme situation is mirroring where the characters are emotionally on sort of their journey towards this Nirvana of happiness which, you know, they may or may not ever reach.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: Well, especially that mirroring, too, because this is entertainment, but you do have the heavier reflections of society, both at that time and what tends to work as today as well.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm, of course, reading from the notes here, going from American exceptionalism on the first season to female empowerment and feminism on the second season.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like, how did you decide that route?
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: We definitely wanted to explore sort of, you know, sisterhood and, you know, and female relationships between female, between women who are all ambitious in their own way, but living in a world, certainly even more so than now, but in 1969, where, you know, the container of as much tighter, we start episode one and Maxine is literally
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: Right, you know, and as I was reading, you know, there was so many, there's so many books about the history of Palm Beach society and I've, I've got a few that are out of print and you hear the stories of these, these wives that you could tell there was nothing wrong with them, they just, they just had a feeling and their husbands put them away.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so the disgrace social light apartment is our homage to the social lights of your who all, you know, committed the crime of having having are feeling right and not just not just telling the line that there's that line was the first and second episode right I can't act like a main group because people will think that I'm crazy.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: And if they think that I'm crazy, I won't be free.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, talk about a line that hits, yeah, right away.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: And those are all the way through it.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I've got a quickly compliment you on that, on that opening scene and the choreography.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what a way to start a season right there.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just beautiful.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: Congratulations, seriously, on this new season.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: I love this story so much and what you all are doing with it.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I appreciate you taking the time today.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you very much nice to meet you and we'll be right back right after this Welcome back, it's Kyle Meredith thanks to Abe Sylvia there So as I mentioned last season for season one we talked with Amber Shardie Robinson who plays Virginia in the series and we got to talk about What the show offers Having being set in 1969 especially as a black voice during that time and in contrast to the the resort characters that she's frequently
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: at odds with.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: So a little bonus interview here, part two, talking Palm Royale on Apple TV Plus.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's Kyle Meredith with Amber Chardy Robinson.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: How are you?
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's been so fun watching this season of Palm Royale and everything you've been a part of.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: I was thinking, of course, you know, as with any project that, you know, you get to be a part of anybody gets to be a part of.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: You shoot it so far back.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: Time happens.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: But it's kind of fun actually getting to talk to you in the middle of the season because have you been watching it?
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: Do you keep up in that way in real time with everybody else?
- 9:43[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, yes and no.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_04]: So sometimes, you know, my nervous system can't handle it like, oh my, everybody is watching this at the same time.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_04]: So I was lucky enough to be able to see the first five episodes before they came out.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_04]: And this was like,
- 9:57[SPEAKER_04]: like before they cut it all together, they were still like green screens and things in the background.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_04]: And so episode six, I was like, okay, let me just go ahead on and watch it because a couple of my customers was like, if you need to watch this episode, it's amazing.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_04]: And so I turned it on and from beginning to end, I was just balling because not only is that episode very, very like heart ranging, but just watching all of the elements come together, like the artwork and
- 10:24[SPEAKER_04]: It was just amazing to see, I was like, this is a really good show.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_04]: It everybody's like, yeah, and I was like, what do you know when you're in something, you kind of like, you're aware this is a little different than everybody else is.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_04]: So it's just really cool to see it in its full glory.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_04]: It's such a beautiful show.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: You're able to, are you able to separate?
- 10:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_04]: Kinda like, I watch, and when I watch those first five episodes, it's the reason why I didn't watch all tennis, because watching myself sometimes feels like fresh ale.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_04]: And you're like, why'd you make that decision?
- 10:55[SPEAKER_04]: You did that.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_04]: When your lips, you did that with your eyes, why did you look over there?
- 10:59[SPEAKER_04]: But when I'm watching everybody else, I have to step outside myself and be like, well, when I'm watching Kristen and Laura, I'm not thinking about, oh, their hand with here, I was like, so people aren't actually watching it.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_04]: What a critical eye, like you are.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_04]: So you have to take that out.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_04]: And try to enjoy the show to try to be present.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: because it's very fun show, it's a very fun show.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: And it's interesting because I remember when, I went into it pretty blind, I guess.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, just kind of taken it as it comes.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember those first couple episodes going, what is this?
- 11:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?
- 11:35[SPEAKER_04]: What's it got to happen?
- 11:36[SPEAKER_04]: It does a good job of leaving you on the cliffhanger.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_04]: As for me, when I read, we used to, we got the episodes as we were shooting them.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_04]: So you get episode one.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_04]: and then you shoot it, then you get episode two.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm reading, and as I'm reading the scripts that they come in, I'm like, oh my God, I was like, what now?
- 11:53[SPEAKER_04]: And then when we got to episode two, I was like, oh my God, what now?
- 11:55[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I can't wait for you guys to feel it.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_04]: It's just, it's such a good show.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_04]: And I was just so caught on guard every week, going in the work, I was like, okay, well, this is happening.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_04]: And now being able to watch it, it's like, oh, wow, look how they put on that together.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_04]: It's so cool.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, oh, well, what happens now, by the way, yeah, by the end, and that's, like, what happens now.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it's like, even back up, like, and I do want to hit on, like, episode five, right?
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you really get to have fun on that fit in episode.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: What, what am I right down?
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like, uh, Watergate Scooby-Doo, or Scooby-Doo.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's what it felt like to me.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_04]: I felt like between five and six and seven, those were like the funnest episodes to shoot, especially the funeral scene despite giving so heavy.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody was on set that day.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_04]: And it's kind of rare when you have so many people in a cast for us to all be at one spot.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_04]: So it was a really, really, really heightened fun day.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_04]: It was hot that day, we were outside, we had a little fan.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_04]: We just had a good time shooting those episodes.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: because up until that point, right?
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like they kept the two social groups separate, like completely separate.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_04]: Completely, even when we were shooting, it was almost like I was actually living this life, like there were moments where Kristen would come in.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_04]: And I was like, oh, she has on me.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_04]: I love the day that's nice.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like those heels in my mind as Amber, not as Virginia, but I'm like, they were living a completely different life over there.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_04]: compared to us, even in how it dressed like the colors were an earth tone demand for pastels, it's just a completely different world.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll be right back right after this.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back, kids Kyle Meredith with Amber Shorty Robinson.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's talk about that world and I know you've done some of that in the past with these interviews, but I'd love to hear like for this being set in the period of set in the, in the, in the, in the, was 60s, right?
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: At least 60, like what is that offer?
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: What is that offer you as an actor?
- 13:50[SPEAKER_04]: It offers me like a little insight into that time period, which I think is so cool to experience.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's what black people was a very specific time.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_04]: So to be able to be in this environment and be a black woman and be a voice.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_04]: for us is so important to me.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_04]: It's another reason why I signed up for it to do this, Bishop, because it's really hard for African-American limits to see themselves in the feminist movement in 2024.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_04]: let along 1969.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, what does that look like?
- 14:21[SPEAKER_04]: What does that feel like?
- 14:22[SPEAKER_04]: Because me myself, I struggle with feeling included in that movement today.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm like, I can only imagine how I would feel in 1969.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_04]: So for me, it was a journey.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: So how did you get that mindset then?
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, is that research?
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, because a lot of this feels very natural, and I'm sure a lot of it would be natural.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: But like too, as you're saying, you're learning this as you're going, like, how did you get into that what would it have been like at that moment?
- 14:50[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's about Virginia is people like to call the more a compass of the show.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_04]: I like to think of her as somebody who lives in reality.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_04]: You know, as a black person, you have we're born into this reality.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_04]: As whereas people like in the high society, they get to choose what kind of life they want to live it.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_04]: And being a black woman in 1969, I have to live in what's real for me, what's actually happening in front of me and how people are actually treating me.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_04]: And so,
- 15:17[SPEAKER_04]: looking at how they chose to live their lives and the reality that they got to choose, really grinded my gears as a black woman.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_04]: Even when I read the script, I was like, you know, like, so it wasn't hard for me to be like, I'm like, I'm a little reality why y'all live in the fairy tale land because I don't have a choice.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_04]: I don't have that privilege to look outside of myself and be like, I'm gonna go join the country club and live this kind of life.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_04]: Now I have to live what is given to me.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_04]: It's laid out for me.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_04]: I don't have that option.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: And what's interesting about this role, too, and as we're talking about the tone of the show, it's like, here you are, when it's the book, the bookstores turn and be on that, but especially then, you know, there are conversations of feminism, there are conversations of patriarchy, there are conversations of racism while doing it through comedy.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, comic a little bit more palatable, I believe.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_04]: It allows you to sit back willingly on this ride,
- 16:14[SPEAKER_04]: sometimes things could be heavy handed or a lot of people tend to turn their heads away from things because they're like, I don't want to be forced to anything.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_04]: I don't, you know, those kind of energies.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_04]: But when it's served on a dish of comedy, people are like, never thought about it that way or that's funny.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_04]: Like it opens up another portal in people's minds to be able to
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, especially like there are those moments where you're talking to Lara Durans character and you say, yeah, that wouldn't happen for me.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: It wouldn't.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and that's, and I'm only echoing you here.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's like those moments where you've had this laughter and you've had these bizarre, outlandish moments, and then you get a line like that, and it just lands.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_04]: Because the world is so specific, you know,
- 17:09[SPEAKER_04]: why dominate it.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_04]: So for someone like me to exist in this world, the things that they are getting away with, I wouldn't dare even get the opportunity to go steal from your day-to-day day at his own funeral.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_04]: So it's not happening.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: That line, I'm not Robin, your dead daddy at his own funeral.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_04]: Not doing it.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: And when we see other line, I'm going to go ahead and try this one.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't consider myself with the shenanigans of bad people.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's the post.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: like those left out like real.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: Were there any lines?
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, how was it delivered?
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like, is it easy?
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, do you have any trouble delivering any of these lines in these moments?
- 17:46[SPEAKER_04]: No, because the circumstances are so similar to how I think in those moments anyway.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_04]: So sitting there with Kristen and her like, oh my god, you know, well, well, I'm like, that a bigger fish to fry out here.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_04]: Like, they not letting those drink out the same waterfiles, there are other things that are going on.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_04]: Like, we just came off the heels of the civil rights movement.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_04]: Like, and you're worried about apples and oranges.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_04]: There's bigger things to be worried about here.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_04]: So it wasn't, it wasn't hard for me to be like girl, what that, it's like, it's a wake-up call, really.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_04]: I think Virginia is the alarm clock in this situation.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: I will say you are obviously a professional at this and I, when I see those scenes and I hear those lines and I see your scene partners, which Kristen wig and the faces that she makes like that's the moment's like how in the world is she holding this together and pulling this off.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_04]: You should be asking us, because that lady is a comedic genius.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_04]: There were moments where Mia Laward earned a sitting across some Christian league.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_04]: And we have to turn our heads away from her camera, because she is so funny.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_04]: There were moments where they would let her improv, and we would be like, I can't look at her.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_04]: I literally cannot look at her, because she takes it so seriously, but it's the most absurd things that are coming out of her mouth.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_04]: It is hilarious.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_04]: She's such a professional.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: And it is interesting seeing the two groups because because they are both social groups.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: So even in all these differences, I think, but they're still social groups in Palm Beach, you know, maybe it's West Palm Beach or whatever.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like, we see the difference, but do you think of them in that similar way?
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you're really just two sides of a coin in some matters, I guess.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_04]: There, like I said earlier, there's an opportunity for them to be social, but also turn a blind eye to certain things because they have that privilege to do so.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_04]: Whereas someone who looks like me, I have to consider everybody.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_04]: I have to consider, for myself, I have all my own survival in this environment.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_04]: I have no choice, I can't turn a blind eye here, which is, I think that builds the resentment between the two.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, there's still a lot of mystery with Virginia.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's being set up.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_04]: So I love that.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_04]: I love that people are actually seeing that aspect that was really exciting.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: I also want to point out what was everything like in black, the song Black Mel.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like you've actually got a musical theme that's been assigned to you.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we all do.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_04]: Which I thought was really cool.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, oh, wow.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_04]: I found out on Instagram like a week or two of them.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, oh, I love this.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_04]: the composer, he like puts out different songs for different things.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm glad he's doing that because there's so much music within the show, like especially the female scene when Bruce Dern dies.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, what is that song?
- 20:26[SPEAKER_04]: It was so specific and it encapsulated that moment's so well, really good work.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: Now, outside of the score and it's on the spot's question right here, so apologies.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: But if you've got a theme song for Virginia Mind, like this is her power song,
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think it's going to be?
- 20:46[SPEAKER_04]: The thing that's been popping around in my mind is I heard it's been grayed by my mom.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_04]: What's his name?
- 20:52[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know why I'm draw the bullet.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_04]: I heard it's a grayed one.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_04]: It's part of a gay, right?
- 20:55[SPEAKER_04]: It's part of a gay.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_04]: It's with the group, but yeah.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_04]: Because she hears and sees everything.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_04]: And she is like, to me, Virginia has a lot of power to take these people down.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_04]: in the grand scheme of things, and she knows more than what people think she knows.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_04]: And she's way more equipped than what they think she is.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_04]: She's overqualified to be in this environment.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: I like their song choice.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: I do like their song choice.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'll wrap up because I know you got some other things going on too.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: What was I seeing a black cypress value?
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: Are you done with that?
- 21:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I just wrapped it away.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_04]: That we ended March 17.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_04]: We were at the Geffen Playhouse here in that way.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_04]: It was really nice to be back on stage and to do a play because it's nothing like filling that energy from the audience every night and being able to like,
- 21:49[SPEAKER_04]: live in a character for a specific amount of time.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_04]: Really, really good time.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_04]: I'll basically.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, congrats on that.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I also got one of the other interviews you did.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody asked if you could go back and you were talking about the Harlan Renaissance period.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm thinking like, I would love to see you as well in something like that.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: Why, why, why did you pick that one?
- 22:10[SPEAKER_04]: Because that was a time for people who look like me and people who I feel like,
- 22:16[SPEAKER_04]: I feel like I'm like a great grandbaby of that era.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_04]: Like I lived in New York, I'm an artist, I live in that community.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_04]: So to be able to go back and be with some of the great people that we look at that work today, like in Times Ball, when in Langston Hughes and to be around, I don't then, while they're in this mode of creativity, this energy of creativity would be such one hell of an experience.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, you would like, I feel like I would just let me just touch the him a life that he was garment real quick, like just to give me some of that good creative energy, like it's just such a cool time for the like folks and artists at that time music, television, dancers, all of that.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_04]: It was such a great period.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it wasn't great as far as like socially and society, but as far as creativity goes, it was a, it was a, it was a, it was a,
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: great great music.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: I've spent a lot of time listening jazz era stuff that came out of that.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to see in that role.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: In the meantime, Palm Royale was so good and it's so much fun to watch all of you all go on these adventures and develop and the twists and turns congrats on the season and thank you so much for taking the time to talk about it.
