- 0:07Speaker 2: You are listening to the Bill Handle Show. Here's Neil Savedra.
- 0:16Speaker 3: KFI AM six forty live everywhere on that there iHeartRadio app.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Good Friday morning to you. It is Neil Servader in
- 0:24Speaker 3: the morning crew handles out this morning. I've been having oh,
- 0:28Speaker 3: one heck of a time, a little off the rails today.
- 0:32Speaker 3: That's all right, It's a Friday in that kind of mood,
- 0:35Speaker 3: and we're finding out a lot about Ann back in
- 0:38Speaker 3: the day, and I love it, talk about the old
- 0:40Speaker 3: punk rock scene.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I know you miss it many good times.
- 0:46Speaker 3: I still go to shows. They just stand in the
- 0:48Speaker 3: back and complain about my knees.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Amy K King in the KFI newsroom. A bomb threat,
- 0:57Speaker 3: possible bomb threat.
- 0:59Speaker 4: We have a The Huntington Hospital in Pasadena is closed down.
- 1:04Speaker 4: They did receive some sort of a threat. They have
- 1:08Speaker 4: police unseen, police canine units unseen. They're doing some sweeps
- 1:13Speaker 4: to look for suspicious packages or anything like that. They're
- 1:17Speaker 4: not accepting anybody new. So if you're going like going
- 1:19Speaker 4: to an emergency room, they're diverting you to another hospital
- 1:22Speaker 4: at this time, and apparently are also canceling some elective surgeries.
- 1:26Speaker 4: We'll keep you posted if anything develops. At this point,
- 1:29Speaker 4: it's a threat. Hopefully they're just doing the sweep to
- 1:32Speaker 4: make sure everybody's safe.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Awesome, thank you, all right.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Some of you know that outside of radio, I'm a maker,
- 1:40Speaker 3: which is a pretty broad statement about that. I like
- 1:42Speaker 3: to make and fix things, and I have a shop
- 1:45Speaker 3: at home and i spend a lot of my time
- 1:47Speaker 3: in there when I'm not with my family and on
- 1:49Speaker 3: the air here for those of you want to check
- 1:52Speaker 3: that out. You know, my normal Instagram is at fok
- 1:56Speaker 3: Reporter and that's basically for my food show on Saturday
- 2:00Speaker 3: and some lifestyle stuff there. But I have one that
- 2:04Speaker 3: is my personal one called Savco Industries. It's saa v
- 2:09Speaker 3: co Industries on Instagram, and that's lesser known because that's
- 2:15Speaker 3: just my personal stuff. And you can go there right
- 2:17Speaker 3: now and you can see what I'm in the middle of. Currently,
- 2:20Speaker 3: there's a picture of me holding a three D printed
- 2:23Speaker 3: full size Damnsel in distress for a display. Halloween display
- 2:30Speaker 3: this year, the Buddy Mine's doing a really big one
- 2:33Speaker 3: and it's the you know, creature of black lagoon woman
- 2:36Speaker 3: being held. Also, I've been working on doing a full
- 2:41Speaker 3: size one to one three D R two D two
- 2:45Speaker 3: since May. And there is a bill AB twenty forty
- 2:50Speaker 3: seven aimed at stopping the use of three D printers
- 2:53Speaker 3: to make certain shapes. They say it's about firearms and
- 2:57Speaker 3: illegal firearm parts, but there's much more to it, and
- 3:00Speaker 3: although I'm pretty well read on it, I'm well read
- 3:04Speaker 3: because of the next man. I'm going to introduce you
- 3:06Speaker 3: to David Tobin. I've been following him for a long
- 3:10Speaker 3: time and Joel telling on the three D Printing NERD
- 3:13Speaker 3: channel on YouTube, which is fantastic and I highly recommend it.
- 3:17Speaker 3: But also he is the director of the Community Manufacturing
- 3:21Speaker 3: Initiative and I bring him on to KFI right now. David,
- 3:25Speaker 3: welcome to KFI.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Thanks, I appreciate being on the show.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So there's a.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Lot going on, and it passed the State Assembly. It's
- 3:35Speaker 3: now headed to the Senate.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Correct it's in.
- 3:39Speaker 5: The Senate and it's currently in appropriations and we're waiting
- 3:42Speaker 5: to find out by the end of next week if
- 3:44Speaker 5: it's going to go to the Senate floor.
- 3:46Speaker 3: I explaining about me being a make and all those
- 3:49Speaker 3: things sets my interest, But this is not about just
- 3:54Speaker 3: people like me.
- 3:55Speaker 2: It goes beyond that.
- 3:56Speaker 3: If it was, Hey, in a perfect world, I wish
- 3:59Speaker 3: there were no firearms. That would be great that we
- 4:02Speaker 3: don't have any of that to worry about. But this
- 4:05Speaker 3: goes beyond just those of us that enjoy three D
- 4:08Speaker 3: printing and love that there is light manufacturing. There is
- 4:12Speaker 3: the film industry is involved in this, There is a lot.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Can you explain what AB twenty forty seven is and
- 4:19Speaker 3: the inherent problems they're in.
- 4:22Speaker 5: Yeah. Absolutely. First of all, I check out your Instagram.
- 4:25Speaker 5: There's some awesome projects on there for anyone listening that
- 4:28Speaker 5: AR two is coming along nicely, very nice. You're welcome.
- 4:33Speaker 5: So essentially, the Assembly member Rebecca Bauer Khan is the
- 4:38Speaker 5: head of Privacy for the state of California, and they
- 4:41Speaker 5: introduced a bill that will require three D printers to
- 4:45Speaker 5: have what they call blocking technology on them in order
- 4:50Speaker 5: to prevent machines from making shapes that they deem bad
- 4:54Speaker 5: and objects that they deem bad. And the issue with
- 4:58Speaker 5: this is that the three D owners don't have the
- 5:01Speaker 5: capability to do this. That's not how the machines work.
- 5:03Speaker 5: So the general intent of the bill doesn't work because
- 5:06Speaker 5: that's how the technology exists.
- 5:09Speaker 2: It basically.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Yeah, so they call them g codes, and this essentially
- 5:15Speaker 3: is a code that you couldn't read.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I mean, you can't look at it.
- 5:19Speaker 3: It just is space is it's it finds a spatial
- 5:23Speaker 3: place to drop, in this case melted filament. But on
- 5:29Speaker 3: a C and C it would be to drop a
- 5:33Speaker 3: bit or a laser cutter would be a slightly different
- 5:39Speaker 3: use of spatial placement of a laser to cut something.
- 5:45Speaker 3: But there isn't There is no evil code, and there
- 5:49Speaker 3: is no evil shape. I think you said this best.
- 5:54Speaker 3: You've said it regulates a tool, not the crime. And
- 5:57Speaker 3: I think that it is so succinct as to what's
- 6:00Speaker 3: going on. They're trying to make you not be able
- 6:03Speaker 3: to make a shape that they think is evil.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Well, that's exactly it.
- 6:07Speaker 5: I mean, there's there's an example that I gave in
- 6:09Speaker 5: one of the Senate hearings. I said, you know, we
- 6:11Speaker 5: all know, you know it stinks when you microwave fish,
- 6:14Speaker 5: and it's a terrible smell, but we don't get mad
- 6:17Speaker 5: at the fish or the microwave and get mad at
- 6:19Speaker 5: Bob who microwave of the fish. Oh, it's all is
- 6:23Speaker 5: it is a bob and accounting. Actually I said so,
- 6:26Speaker 5: so you have this example of it, but more so
- 6:29Speaker 5: that JVD printers make all sorts of objects, and we
- 6:32Speaker 5: brought in legacy effects they make the Avengers, Star Wars,
- 6:36Speaker 5: Drassic Park, all of these films, and with La Times article,
- 6:40Speaker 5: we were there and they showed the trigger system to
- 6:41Speaker 5: operate baby Grogu's hands and all these other things, and
- 6:45Speaker 5: like the replacement for my garden hose or Mike Dyson,
- 6:48Speaker 5: these triggers and things like that, and it all comes
- 6:51Speaker 5: from the core of this. The reason why we're trying
- 6:54Speaker 5: to do mental gymnastics here is because this all comes
- 6:57Speaker 5: from an organization called every Town for Gun Safety. They're
- 7:00Speaker 5: a national organization that has been putting this bill in
- 7:03Speaker 5: multiple states to try to get it passed to say
- 7:06Speaker 5: they've stopped a crime that is happening. But actually, according
- 7:11Speaker 5: to the Department of Justice, the ATF, this is not
- 7:14Speaker 5: a significant crime in any capacity. There's never been a
- 7:18Speaker 5: murder with a three D printy gun, which is a
- 7:20Speaker 5: completely plastic three D printy gun. People have modified weapons
- 7:23Speaker 5: and done all sorts of stuff like that. But senators
- 7:26Speaker 5: in these hearings have said you can go to home
- 7:28Speaker 5: depot right now and make a firearm for twenty dollars
- 7:31Speaker 5: that will work again. And again, I'm talking about making
- 7:35Speaker 5: you for years. You know, we've been making it for years.
- 7:37Speaker 5: So what the bill actually does, and this is the
- 7:40Speaker 5: scary part and why it's turned into such a thing
- 7:42Speaker 5: where you know, people are talking about COPA violations and
- 7:45Speaker 5: HIPPA and all of this stuff, is that they're asking
- 7:48Speaker 5: for a company called Fizna, who is a company that
- 7:52Speaker 5: created software to match shapes to safety. Had an old
- 7:55Speaker 5: truck and you were trying to find a part for
- 7:57Speaker 5: that truck, you could find the same part for that
- 7:59Speaker 5: truck and do that. A whole bunch of us in
- 8:02Speaker 5: the industry used their technology years ago. It didn't work
- 8:05Speaker 5: very well at all. But now they have teamed up
- 8:08Speaker 5: with the military surveillance company Palentaire to say they can
- 8:13Speaker 5: now detect what you're going to make and stop you
- 8:17Speaker 5: from doing this, and they want to implement it not
- 8:19Speaker 5: just on three D printers but on devices everywhere. Essentially,
- 8:23Speaker 5: it's flock for your network. You know, that evasive camera
- 8:27Speaker 5: system that's monitoring getting torn down everywhere. Yeah, So essentially
- 8:30Speaker 5: what they want to do is add this to your printer.
- 8:34Speaker 5: But because the printers don't work that way, and the
- 8:36Speaker 5: board on your printer is your Cassio watch, has a
- 8:40Speaker 5: stronger processing system than the board on a three D printer.
- 8:43Speaker 5: Just as you said, to read GTOTE lines of code,
- 8:45Speaker 5: which is very very simple to do.
- 8:48Speaker 2: They're amazing.
- 8:49Speaker 5: But yeah, yeah, well that's the point. It's supposed to
- 8:52Speaker 5: just do a thing, and it's the human that tells
- 8:56Speaker 5: it what to do.
- 8:56Speaker 2: David, We've got to.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Get some amazing We've got to get some news. Sorry
- 8:59Speaker 3: to cut you, hang tight, will come back. I want
- 9:02Speaker 3: to know the broader picture. I know everything has a
- 9:04Speaker 3: slippery slope, but I want to make people care because
- 9:08Speaker 3: this is a much bigger issue that will seep into
- 9:11Speaker 3: other rights and freedoms that can be a problem. This
- 9:15Speaker 3: is bigger than them locking up you know spray cans,
- 9:18Speaker 3: which pisses me off in California already because someone uses
- 9:23Speaker 3: them for bad and I'm just trying to you know, spray.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Paint R two for Pete's sake.
- 9:29Speaker 3: But I want to find out how it deals with
- 9:31Speaker 3: people that don't use three D printing, and also what
- 9:34Speaker 3: we can do, what can listeners do to help stop
- 9:37Speaker 3: this in its tracks in the Senate?
- 9:39Speaker 2: Right now?
- 9:41Speaker 3: What can we the people do to slow this or
- 9:46Speaker 3: stop this or let the powers that be in the
- 9:49Speaker 3: Senate know that this is a bad idea. It won't help,
- 9:53Speaker 3: it will hinder, and it will cause problems.
- 9:57Speaker 5: So I think the main thing is reaching out to
- 9:59Speaker 5: the pro Temoffice that's essentially the head of the Senate
- 10:03Speaker 5: and Appropriations and letting them know. We made a website
- 10:07Speaker 5: that has all sorts of information on this called It's
- 10:10Speaker 5: at three DPrinting, nerd dot com, forward slash ab two
- 10:14Speaker 5: zero four seven, or you can go to three D
- 10:16Speaker 5: Printing is Not a Crime dot Org. That's a new
- 10:19Speaker 5: site that I'm just now launching. It is now live.
- 10:22Speaker 5: Cdprinting is not a Crime dot Org and it goes
- 10:25Speaker 5: over the issues in multiple states and around the world.
- 10:28Speaker 5: And essentially what people are trying to do is they're
- 10:30Speaker 5: saying there's an epidemic of people making three D printed weapons,
- 10:34Speaker 5: and it's kids doing all this stuff and these guns.
- 10:36Speaker 5: It's not an actual issue. And what this bill is
- 10:39Speaker 5: going to do is allow the government to put surveillance
- 10:42Speaker 5: software on your computers and networks that will read everything
- 10:47Speaker 5: you do and have to see what you're doing in
- 10:49Speaker 5: order to prevent you from doing something they think might
- 10:52Speaker 5: be bad. And that's the big, big concern why everyone
- 10:55Speaker 5: is involved. The ACLU is up in arms, the California
- 10:59Speaker 5: and going to so station is up and arms. Very
- 11:01Speaker 5: unlikely partners all winking together against this bill because of
- 11:06Speaker 5: the privacy concerns and the surveillance state it's proposing in
- 11:10Speaker 5: California and other areas. It's really concerning that we don't
- 11:16Speaker 5: have this crime and the things that they say are illegal,
- 11:20Speaker 5: like making you know, firearms that can't be traced or
- 11:22Speaker 5: selling guns without a license. That's already illegal. You can't
- 11:26Speaker 5: do that already. The only thing this bill does is
- 11:29Speaker 5: allows surveillance software from Talent Pair to go on your
- 11:33Speaker 5: network or your computer or your machines at home, so
- 11:36Speaker 5: the Department of Justice can decide what you can and
- 11:39Speaker 5: cannot print.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah, this should be by partisan because of the breach
- 11:44Speaker 3: of privacy. Not to mention, you know, I like making
- 11:47Speaker 3: a lot of props, you know, replica props, and I've
- 11:53Speaker 3: made you know, the Stormtroopers E eleven or whatever, and
- 11:58Speaker 3: that would you Now that's based on a real gun
- 12:01Speaker 3: and it looks like I'm making a gun, but I'm not.
- 12:03Speaker 3: It's a plastic toy that sits with you know, my Stormtrooper, not.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Even your toys with What they're asking is to create
- 12:12Speaker 5: a database of bad shapes that will be lightly monitored.
- 12:16Speaker 5: And here's the bigger thing. Say like you're running a
- 12:18Speaker 5: print farming, do manufacturing like we do a three D
- 12:20Speaker 5: pre NERD. We make the educational robotic the XRP on
- 12:24Speaker 5: our print farm, and we had a metal component that
- 12:27Speaker 5: came back from a manufacturer that was off by two microns,
- 12:30Speaker 5: very very small change in the size, but it didn't
- 12:33Speaker 5: work with what we were doing. So we had to
- 12:35Speaker 5: change our three D printed model and then start the
- 12:37Speaker 5: farm back up. It's a very easy fix to do.
- 12:40Speaker 5: But if that model, that new model suddenly went against
- 12:44Speaker 5: whatever bad algorithm this bill said was in place, we
- 12:50Speaker 5: would have to then call someone in the government to
- 12:53Speaker 5: have them review what we're doing on our business, our property,
- 12:58Speaker 5: our IP and have someone else have to see it
- 13:00Speaker 5: and tell us if it's okay to make, which is crazy.
- 13:04Speaker 5: I mean, just saying the words right now to you
- 13:06Speaker 5: makes me sound like I'm mich sugar enough, But it's
- 13:08Speaker 5: not it's absolutely crazy, but that's what they want to implement.
- 13:11Speaker 5: So any business, any teacher, an he program, anyone that
- 13:16Speaker 5: had any issues with this would have to then somehow
- 13:20Speaker 5: deal with the state and all these things. But also
- 13:22Speaker 5: it's going to flag you and say you're doing bad things.
- 13:25Speaker 5: It's going to create all these false positives and in
- 13:27Speaker 5: turn tons of lawsuits, and it's going to cost the
- 13:30Speaker 5: state and taxpayers millions and millions of dollars for something
- 13:34Speaker 5: that doesn't even need to exist and by everyone in
- 13:37Speaker 5: the industry says it would not work and cannot exist
- 13:40Speaker 5: based on the technology, just like you explained earlier, and.
- 13:43Speaker 3: It does not and genuinely does not keep and the
- 13:47Speaker 3: bad people from doing bad things. They find bad people
- 13:51Speaker 3: will find ways to do it. You know, you take
- 13:54Speaker 3: away guns, they use knives. You take away knives, they'll
- 13:56Speaker 3: use explosives. It's bad people do bad things. We are
- 13:59Speaker 3: not the those bad people. David Tobin has been my guest.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Thank you so much. Three D printing nerd dot com
- 14:06Speaker 3: and also three D printing is not a crime dot org. Please,
- 14:11Speaker 3: I don't ask you this very often. Go to these websites,
- 14:14Speaker 3: do a bit of your homework and if you are
- 14:17Speaker 3: moved to do so, reach out to the Senate, reach
- 14:19Speaker 3: out to the places in these websites and let them
- 14:25Speaker 3: know this is not okay and you don't stand with it.
- 14:27Speaker 5: And your local news and your local news, your local
- 14:30Speaker 5: people like this is a conversation for everyone to have.
- 14:32Speaker 5: And you're right, it's completely bipartisan. We're working across aisle
- 14:35Speaker 5: with everyone on us and it's.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Not just us three d geeks either.
- 14:38Speaker 3: There's much more to it, and it does it will
- 14:41Speaker 3: reach everyone's door everyone. Yeah, absolutely, thanks David. I appreciate
- 14:46Speaker 3: you taking the time to come on. I'm a big
- 14:48Speaker 3: fan of what you do, and I know you are
- 14:50Speaker 3: the one leading this and taking the hits on all this,
- 14:54Speaker 3: and I appreciate you for that. I really really do
- 14:57Speaker 3: all right, my.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Friends by the time.
- 14:58Speaker 5: I appreciate you keeping the awareness.
- 15:00Speaker 3: My absolute pleasure, David Tobin. I'm sure we'll talk again.
- 15:03Speaker 3: My friend Handle is out today and hanging out with
- 15:06Speaker 3: Amy and Adam and will I the Roper Room. All
- 15:10Speaker 3: of a sudden and I see Kno and I see Ann.
- 15:14Speaker 3: You guys remember Romper Room? Do you remember anything? And
- 15:22Speaker 3: I've been learning so much about you. I'm so excited
- 15:25Speaker 3: because we probably we probably were at the same shows
- 15:28Speaker 3: at time and stuff like that, and I don't know,
- 15:33Speaker 3: I like me some man. I think she's cool. She
- 15:37Speaker 3: worked at k Rock like back then.
- 15:40Speaker 2: K Rock. Yeah. Wow.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Hey, your official home for Dodgers Baseball is A and
- 15:49Speaker 3: five seventy LA Sports. This afternoon, you're back to back
- 15:52Speaker 3: World champion Dodgers take on the diming Diamondbacks the Dining
- 15:56Speaker 3: Backs in Arizona with pitch at six point forty. Listen
- 16:01Speaker 3: on A five seventy LA Sports and stream on the
- 16:04Speaker 3: iHeartRadio app. Brought to you by Sapporo. Great moments start
- 16:09Speaker 3: with Sapporo beer, Good with sushi, Great with the baseball.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Actually it is fantastic with sushi sushi. As a matter
- 16:17Speaker 3: of fact, all right, some of the talkbacks coming in,
- 16:19Speaker 3: I wanted to respond. This was a really good one
- 16:21Speaker 3: from Kelly, a teacher. She said, good morning, guys, Neil,
- 16:25Speaker 3: I have a question for you regarding the meta glasses.
- 16:28Speaker 3: We talked about those earlier and they're calling them pervert
- 16:30Speaker 3: glasses or whatever now, And I said, you know, it's
- 16:34Speaker 3: a tool like anything else. If people are going to
- 16:36Speaker 3: misuse the tool, they're going to misuse the tool. But
- 16:39Speaker 3: they are pretty amazing tech. She says. As a teacher,
- 16:44Speaker 3: we're going to have to deal with this because we
- 16:46Speaker 3: don't know how the kids are going to use them
- 16:48Speaker 3: in class. I teach middle school. God bless you, Kelly.
- 16:52Speaker 2: That is tough.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Those kids will find a way to cheat to do anything.
- 16:57Speaker 3: So what are your thoughts on them in the classroom?
- 17:00Speaker 5: Not?
- 17:01Speaker 3: No, I'm very anti all the tech and the phones
- 17:05Speaker 3: and all that stuff in school. And I know there's
- 17:07Speaker 3: arguments on both sides, people saying, oh, it doesn't hurt
- 17:11Speaker 3: them scholastically. I don't know how you can hurt anybody
- 17:14Speaker 3: anymore in California schools. I'm lucky we have a great
- 17:19Speaker 3: school for our son. We are in a public school,
- 17:22Speaker 3: and I love the teachers. They principle and it's We're very,
- 17:31Speaker 3: very blessed with a good school and very active parents
- 17:36Speaker 3: being involved in the like. So, but I think technology
- 17:41Speaker 3: like that misused with small brains. These are young children
- 17:45Speaker 3: that need to learn reading, writing, and arithmetic preferably and
- 17:50Speaker 3: maybe move away from learning about their feelings so much
- 17:54Speaker 3: and all that stuff. I know it sounds weird, but
- 17:56Speaker 3: we shifted things in the nineties big time. You've got
- 18:00Speaker 3: a toll generation that doesn't know how to regulate their
- 18:04Speaker 3: feelings and everything else you got?
- 18:06Speaker 2: What was that? Did you see that video.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Last night of a guy from Costco worked at Costco
- 18:16Speaker 3: drove his car into another guy that worked at Costco
- 18:20Speaker 3: who's on a motorcycle.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Did you see that?
- 18:23Speaker 3: All because the guy in the motorcycle hugged a girl
- 18:27Speaker 3: that worked at Costco too that the other guy liked
- 18:30Speaker 3: and was jealous. You are not learning how to regulate
- 18:34Speaker 3: yourself and your emotions in life, if that listen. I've
- 18:38Speaker 3: been jealous, I've been mad, I've cried, I've been upset,
- 18:42Speaker 3: you know, hormones and love and emotions or at least
- 18:45Speaker 3: thinking you're in love and all that stuff.
- 18:47Speaker 2: It sucks.
- 18:48Speaker 3: But geez, so I don't know why I went on
- 18:50Speaker 3: that tangent, but it was fun and I feel clear now.
- 18:55Speaker 3: I fear clear.
- 18:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I need to go and get my emeter checked. Maybe,
- 19:01Speaker 3: So that is my answer to that. No, I wouldn't
- 19:03Speaker 3: let them in class rooms. They don't need that. That's
- 19:07Speaker 3: not helping anybody. There A quick joke for you, Hi, Neil,
- 19:15Speaker 3: You're awesome, Thank you very much. There, that's nice for
- 19:18Speaker 3: you to say a quick joke for you. How come
- 19:21Speaker 3: God didn't make two Yogi bears because they made a
- 19:25Speaker 3: boo boo.
- 19:27Speaker 2: That's cute. No one got hurt there. Okay, well that
- 19:32Speaker 2: was good. I loved it.
- 19:34Speaker 3: I thought that was sweet. No one got hurt. Tell Neil,
- 19:39Speaker 3: but another candle on it. I'll have to read this
- 19:46Speaker 3: off the air because I don't know what.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Then that is all right, we come back.
- 19:49Speaker 3: We'll do it a little Nom nom news, a little
- 19:52Speaker 3: foody Friday, and then we're going to hand everything over
- 19:55Speaker 3: to the ever competent Gary and Shannon to clean up
- 20:00Speaker 3: this mess. I'm like a squirrel today. I love it.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I'm all over the place. I'm gonna go home and
- 20:05Speaker 3: I'm gonna feed my crows.
- 20:09Speaker 2: You laugh at me. This is how I call.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Them when they come to my house. Yeah, and I
- 20:15Speaker 3: feed them. They're getting unsalted peanuts in the shell today.
- 20:20Speaker 3: They're good little sweety pies. Neil Savedra and the Morning
- 20:25Speaker 3: crew here today handles out today. He'll be back on Monday.
- 20:30Speaker 3: His birthday's coming up, doing a big party at his house.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Are you going?
- 20:36Speaker 3: And and they're all costume parties and it's what superheroes
- 20:43Speaker 3: and super villains. Are you going as a goodie or
- 20:45Speaker 3: a batty? Yeah, you make a good Mattie batty. You're unassuming, Yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 3: yeah you get in there. But yeah, trying to get
- 20:57Speaker 3: my stuff together for that. Well, I love it because
- 21:02Speaker 3: it makes a party even more problematic. It's like, we
- 21:06Speaker 3: want you to drive, drive to the signs, drive south
- 21:12Speaker 3: till the signs are in Spanish, and then back up
- 21:14Speaker 3: a few feet and you'll be at his house and
- 21:17Speaker 3: were's something uncomfortable. Well, he's got a very talented wife
- 21:23Speaker 3: now who does likes to throw parties and she wants
- 21:27Speaker 3: to use her marketing abilities. Handle will be a mess,
- 21:32Speaker 3: She'll look great, all right. Kellogg's is getting rid of
- 21:37Speaker 3: the artificial coloring. This is something that's going on and
- 21:40Speaker 3: becoming much more popular. And I say, if it's artificial,
- 21:43Speaker 3: it's unnecessary, remove it. There are sometimes there are sometimes
- 21:47Speaker 3: where I think, you know, this getting a little out
- 21:49Speaker 3: of hand. People get weirded out about certain things, and
- 21:52Speaker 3: then there's stuff that is absolutely not necessary in food.
- 21:57Speaker 3: So removing artificial colors in all of its cereal by
- 22:00Speaker 3: the end of this year is what Kellogg's is saying.
- 22:03Speaker 3: So you know, they have a lot of colors in
- 22:06Speaker 3: their cereals, whether it's fruit lubs, applejacks and all these things.
- 22:11Speaker 3: They did this with Kraft mac and cheese, And you
- 22:15Speaker 3: know what, I know a lot about food. It's been
- 22:21Speaker 3: my life and focus for a while here on the air.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I couldn't tell a damn thing. I didn't notice. I
- 22:29Speaker 3: didn't notice anything. Just get rid of that garbage. We
- 22:33Speaker 3: don't want that stuff in our food.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Anymore, and go ahead and take it out.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Not's very farm. I love me some not s very farm.
- 22:41Speaker 3: I don't go as much as I used to. The
- 22:44Speaker 3: Boys and Berry Festival is fantastic. They really are quite ingenious.
- 22:51Speaker 3: The chefs over there during that time, the mix and
- 22:55Speaker 3: the marriage between the Boys and Berry and the flavors
- 22:58Speaker 3: and the different cauctions they do are pretty smart. I
- 23:02Speaker 3: think I had one time. I think I had some
- 23:07Speaker 3: short rib in a boisonberry.
- 23:10Speaker 4: So that was one of the best things this last year,
- 23:12Speaker 4: the short rips and the mashed potatoes with a boisonberry sauce,
- 23:14Speaker 4: which sounds really weird, but it was delicious.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Yeah, they do a great job there, not very far.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Crafty Kitchen is the newest restaurant there. It opens today.
- 23:24Speaker 3: There at the theme park, and a new quick service
- 23:26Speaker 3: restaurant sits A long memory lane leans heavily on the
- 23:31Speaker 3: lore of Crafty Coyote, which I don't know a lot
- 23:34Speaker 3: of lore about Crafty Coyote, but it's a character I
- 23:38Speaker 3: guess known for his pie stealing antics in the knots
- 23:41Speaker 3: Berry Tales attraction. So apparently it's about this fox who's
- 23:48Speaker 3: a thief, and they're gonna do a restaurant around it.
- 23:52Speaker 3: So that is opening today. If you want to check
- 23:54Speaker 3: that out, good on you. This was a sucky story.
- 23:58Speaker 3: And I mentioned this because I hate the way the
- 24:01Speaker 3: Southland treats restaurants. A lot of these mom and pop
- 24:04Speaker 3: places get screwed left and right since COVID, and they
- 24:09Speaker 3: still haven't gotten their sea legs or their land legs back.
- 24:12Speaker 3: So popular California Burger restaurant is looking for donations. A
- 24:16Speaker 3: vehicle drove into it a hit and run, didn't leave
- 24:21Speaker 3: a note, no, no, no, nothing, and smashed. I mean
- 24:25Speaker 3: it was one of these small little side road places.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Damage is.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Complete. They can't serve food at all. There.
- 24:34Speaker 3: It's a burger box. It's in Indio, right, it could
- 24:38Speaker 3: Coachella Valley area there and it was seven am the
- 24:42Speaker 3: last or this past Sunday, August second, and it said
- 24:46Speaker 3: its building was just struck with a vehicle hit and
- 24:48Speaker 3: run crash, causing massive damage to the structure and equipment,
- 24:52Speaker 3: forcing the temporary closure and they can't open it up
- 24:57Speaker 3: at this point. I think they're looking to raise twenty
- 25:00Speaker 3: thousand dollars. They have a GoFundMe campaign, so check it
- 25:05Speaker 3: out and look it up and make sure it's the
- 25:08Speaker 3: right one. At the time of this article on KTLA five,
- 25:13Speaker 3: it was at two thousand dollars of their twenty thousand
- 25:15Speaker 3: dollars goal. Again, the name of the restaurant was the
- 25:18Speaker 3: Burger Box there in Indio, and God bless them, and
- 25:21Speaker 3: I hope that they get back on their feet. We
- 25:23Speaker 3: need those small, palm and pomp places. Gary and Shannon
- 25:26Speaker 3: up next, Shannon's at the ready. Did you hear about
- 25:29Speaker 3: the new whopper?
- 25:31Speaker 1: Uh?
- 25:31Speaker 2: The ones that they're giving away right now? No, I
- 25:33Speaker 2: just said they redid the whopper at burger Came. What'd
- 25:35Speaker 2: they do to it? I don't know.
- 25:37Speaker 4: It's kind of a secret, but sales are up eight
- 25:39Speaker 4: point five percent over the past month.
- 25:42Speaker 2: I like a good whopper, me too.
- 25:43Speaker 4: I wonder what they did do it, because one of
- 25:45Speaker 4: the things I like is it hasn't changed since nineteen
- 25:47Speaker 4: ninety seven.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good solid back when I would throw
- 25:53Speaker 3: them back a little bit and a little bit, have
- 25:55Speaker 3: a little knock a.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Couple whoppers back, just take the edge off when you're drinking.
- 26:00Speaker 2: A whopper is a great alcohol. And back to the
- 26:04Speaker 2: day before. I had guts tied in not shinn i.
- 26:08Speaker 2: You know those baseball pitching machines.
- 26:10Speaker 5: Get so sorry. That was like race.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Sorry, Neil, I assume with being fast. God, that's awful.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Knocking back like burgers and fries and stuff. Daddie, Now
- 26:26Speaker 3: I want to do that.
- 26:27Speaker 2: I couldn't. I'd explode, you would, I would, I would
- 26:30Speaker 2: pop a stitch. You can't do it. I've been drinking
- 26:32Speaker 2: water this morning, and I feel like I'm gonna popp it.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I'll taste a new whopper and tell you about it. Oh, thanks, buddy,
- 26:37Speaker 2: You're so welcome. You're not drinking these days, are you?
- 26:40Speaker 4: I'm not.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Then I'll have something to drinking.
- 26:43Speaker 5: Perfect.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Are you into the browns? Tonight?
- 26:45Speaker 5: Sugar?
- 26:48Speaker 2: Something about this meat? What are they smoking it over? Angels?
- 26:54Speaker 5: Now?
- 26:56Speaker 3: All right, Gary and shadded up. Next the Monks and Merrill.
- 26:58Speaker 3: You know the lineup. Goat No, I'll see you tomorrow
- 27:01Speaker 3: at two on the Fork Report. This is KFI heard
- 27:04Speaker 3: everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
