- 0:04Speaker 1: NHL Unscripted is a production of the NHL and iHeart
- 0:07Speaker 1: Podcasts episode nineteen NHL Unscripted Coming at You, And this
- 0:22Speaker 1: is going to be a fantastic episode as Barrett Hating
- 0:24Speaker 1: is gonna join us of Utah. Might be too little,
- 0:26Speaker 1: too late, but Utah is making a spirited push and
- 0:29Speaker 1: he's obviously having a fantastic season for an up and
- 0:32Speaker 1: coming team. He's set career highs in all the major categories.
- 0:34Speaker 1: So can't wait to talk to Barret Hayton. Plots. We'll
- 0:36Speaker 1: talk about the Panthers. Are they tanking? Huh? Is this
- 0:39Speaker 1: finally gonna be the Kings Year? Where is Gabrielandeska gonna land?
- 0:42Speaker 1: Lots of good stuff come up here, including cinefil and
- 0:44Speaker 1: sixty looking at the Great robertson Hera, his new movie
- 0:46Speaker 1: in theaters, specially a new show on Netflix in case
- 0:48Speaker 1: you have been seeing that, Jadi. We begin though the
- 0:50Speaker 1: fact Alexandervechkin, you and Tal crashing it the other day.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I mean I got wally pipped because Tal played the
- 0:55Speaker 1: role of host. Fantastic job, but you guys get kicked
- 0:58Speaker 1: on a Sunday night. Fantastic We're running a three man,
- 1:00Speaker 1: leave here now, dude, this is amazing. Yeah, you were.
- 1:03Speaker 2: You know you don't work on off days non wednesdays,
- 1:05Speaker 2: so you called in, Tal, You called it.
- 1:07Speaker 1: No, I was flying to Winnipeg and I let him
- 1:10Speaker 1: stop over in Minneapolis and then I went to a peg,
- 1:12Speaker 1: but go ahead continue, So Tal came in across.
- 1:15Speaker 2: You could have done it. You've done how in the
- 1:17Speaker 2: middle of the airport. Once you've done it in the
- 1:19Speaker 2: airport once and there's a will, there's a way. But Tal,
- 1:23Speaker 2: like the utility man that he is, jumps in says,
- 1:26Speaker 2: you know what, Nie, the time is nigh. It was.
- 1:30Speaker 1: It was definitely very entertaining listening to that episode and
- 1:33Speaker 1: of course the video of you on HL network pumping
- 1:35Speaker 1: your fist in unions because you were actually there and
- 1:37Speaker 1: watching exactly the fist pumping for the ages. Dating with
- 1:39Speaker 1: that crowd, it seemed like an amazing atmosphere. You were
- 1:41Speaker 1: there for both games, right, No, you were.
- 1:43Speaker 2: No, I was just there for watching. I was there
- 1:45Speaker 2: in d C. I trained to d C. I took
- 1:48Speaker 2: a train to d C and then we were at
- 1:51Speaker 2: the rink. We did a little show from the concourse,
- 1:53Speaker 2: not the concourse, like just in front of the front door.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, no, no, the outside we were outside
- 1:58Speaker 2: with the Yeah, we were outside with the crowd, with
- 2:01Speaker 2: the masses, with the absolute trash in d C.
- 2:05Speaker 1: But I like it.
- 2:06Speaker 2: No, the the energy was like a playoff game. It was.
- 2:09Speaker 2: It was insane. And here's the thing. We finished the show,
- 2:11Speaker 2: so we trained and went right into the show, so
- 2:13Speaker 2: we had no time really to kind of do anything.
- 2:16Speaker 2: And we're kind of sitting there and we're like, you know,
- 2:18Speaker 2: the game, there's gonna be a long ceremony, Like let's
- 2:20Speaker 2: go have a by teat and like, you know, if
- 2:23Speaker 2: he scores one, we'll go run in. He's like, let's
- 2:25Speaker 2: have a by teat, right, So we start walking down
- 2:28Speaker 2: the street and we're like, ah, where do we go eat?
- 2:30Speaker 2: And all of a sudden, all hears man and we're like, shit,
- 2:33Speaker 2: we better get in there. We're like he's gonna do it.
- 2:35Speaker 2: We're like, there's no way he's going to score a
- 2:37Speaker 2: night A in Chicago. And all week I was saying, yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 2: he's playing a young Chicago team. He has some chance.
- 2:41Speaker 2: He scores. Like the first five minutes, we ran inside
- 2:44Speaker 2: watched the whole game after that, and I mean, I
- 2:46Speaker 2: jumped into I was telling tal quick revision. I jumped
- 2:49Speaker 2: into Boiler's arms. I was so excited. It was like
- 2:52Speaker 2: I felt like a kid. It took me back to
- 2:53Speaker 2: being a kid cheering on you know, your your hometown team.
- 2:57Speaker 2: So but talk to me a little bit about Winnipeg,
- 2:59Speaker 2: because we already did this whole show.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Sure, fourth in the final trip to Winnipeg.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Talk about about Winnipeg.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Fourth and final trip, I mean, mercifully, we're done with
- 3:07Speaker 1: We're done with the peg here. Okay, say uncle uncle
- 3:11Speaker 1: Gee like you, you're the kind of guy you're upbeating
- 3:12Speaker 1: no matter where you are. But even you'd be like
- 3:14Speaker 1: Jesus Winnipeg again. I gotta be honest with you. I
- 3:16Speaker 1: was so excited for the game. Blues had won twelve
- 3:18Speaker 1: straight games. You know, I love Jim Montgomery. Monty who,
- 3:21Speaker 1: by the way, the fourth line for the Blues. They're
- 3:22Speaker 1: calling him WTF, what the fuck? Or they're calling them
- 3:25Speaker 1: that I said, is that a great line?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Right? Crazy facts at torpe Chenco and Nathan Walker excellent.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Well do they're a little buzzsaw line too. They just
- 3:35Speaker 2: run around with that Walkers guy. We talked about it.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You got a little pissing them, pissed jugs, the team
- 3:41Speaker 2: of pissed jugs.
- 3:42Speaker 1: So I'm fired. Okay, the Blues have won twelve straight games.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Now they're taking on Jets and help. But first, peride,
- 3:46Speaker 1: it's awful, like eight combined shots on goal and this
- 3:48Speaker 1: is garbage, and they go well some does it happen?
- 3:50Speaker 2: Slow starts.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Ultimately the Jets suffocate them for the win. And I
- 3:53Speaker 1: gotta say, Hellibuck, I know we've talked a lot about
- 3:55Speaker 1: the Heart Trophy conversation. You've been mentioning coucher off under
- 3:58Speaker 1: appreciate if HELLI Buck pulls us off and he's on
- 4:00Speaker 1: the verge right now of being number one and wins
- 4:02Speaker 1: goals against say perc engine shutouts, maybe the first of
- 4:05Speaker 1: those four categories since the great Bob Froze back in
- 4:08Speaker 1: eighty five eighty six for the Flowers. If he gets
- 4:09Speaker 1: that done, it's ballgame. Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I honestly, we looked at the odds and if he's
- 4:14Speaker 2: first in every category, it's hard to deny him. And
- 4:17Speaker 2: he's been wired to wire. Like we haven't talked to
- 4:19Speaker 2: him because he's in Winnipeg in a smaller market. He
- 4:21Speaker 2: hasn't had a dip all season. This team hasn't had
- 4:24Speaker 2: a dip, So I'm like, have they been at their
- 4:26Speaker 2: ceiling all year? Or is this just does Scott ar'neil
- 4:28Speaker 2: have them in such a perfect position that they're gonna
- 4:31Speaker 2: do it and they're finally gonna get out of the
- 4:33Speaker 2: goddamn first round. Since twenty eighteen they get out of
- 4:36Speaker 2: the first round. So if they hey, this is just
- 4:39Speaker 2: all lining up for even a bigger choke job if
- 4:41Speaker 2: they do it. But hopefully you know Josh Morrissey, fan
- 4:45Speaker 2: of the show, Yes, he texted me on the side
- 4:48Speaker 2: and said he wants to come on, but they're dialing
- 4:49Speaker 2: in for playoffs, so they're ready to go.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So it's your larger points. So the Winnipeg just by
- 4:53Speaker 1: the way, I looked at bet MGM. We said this
- 4:55Speaker 1: to Kevin shovel day off the GM as we walked
- 4:57Speaker 1: him in. We go, Chevy, look at this the odds
- 4:59Speaker 1: right now to win the Western Conference. The Jets are fifth.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It goes like Avalie, it goes Stars, it goes Oilers,
- 5:06Speaker 1: make no respect, and Chevy great lines like, well, I
- 5:08Speaker 1: don't even know gamling, so hey, we're gonna pick. We're
- 5:09Speaker 1: always gonna punch up, but they're starting to build a
- 5:11Speaker 1: little bit this buzz. Hey, Winnipeg, if as you said,
- 5:14Speaker 1: they can overcome those past issues, maybe this is their
- 5:16Speaker 1: year with the Torontomy beliefs. I am stunned. I am
- 5:19Speaker 1: shocked how many people are now saying, if ever there
- 5:22Speaker 1: was a chance the Leafs were gonna do it, it's
- 5:24Speaker 1: this year with Craig Berubi. With this defense, I go
- 5:26Speaker 1: golden is not good enough? They go okay. Well, aside
- 5:28Speaker 1: from Bobroski and Bassilevski, where are the elite goalies in
- 5:31Speaker 1: the East, Like anyone's got a chance. If one Goali
- 5:33Speaker 1: gets hot, who knows. But this is the best chance
- 5:35Speaker 1: the Leaves have had so to that end, you're gonna
- 5:37Speaker 1: have the Ottawa centers now in the playoffs. Your Habs.
- 5:39Speaker 1: They're not just calling him Jason Nimers are calling him
- 5:41Speaker 1: no Stra Demerz because you called it two weeks ago.
- 5:44Speaker 1: The Habs are gonna make the playoffs and they're gonna
- 5:45Speaker 1: do so. You said Ivetsk would get the record this year.
- 5:48Speaker 1: He did so. So Habs are gonna be in center
- 5:50Speaker 1: in flames. Unfortunately, not gonna be oilers in five Canadian
- 5:53Speaker 1: teams in. Are we finally gonna end the round since
- 5:56Speaker 1: nineteen ninety three, no stra Demerz.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a yes, emphatic yes. Ah I this there
- 6:06Speaker 2: is has not been a better time than this year.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Dare I say in the past we're at thirty years,
- 6:13Speaker 2: will be thirty one? The Canadian team, I think it's
- 6:16Speaker 2: thirty two. This is the year that and the best
- 6:19Speaker 2: chance that we have five teams. I mean, you know
- 6:22Speaker 2: the way Ottawa's playing right now, defensively, I know they
- 6:24Speaker 2: dropped their last game, but you know it's kind of
- 6:26Speaker 2: they're in now and they made the playoffs, so I'm
- 6:28Speaker 2: interested to see how they They're missing Brady Kuchuk to
- 6:31Speaker 2: Canadians get you know, Canadians are on a heater. They're
- 6:35Speaker 2: playing so great. Sam montinbo is playing incredible. That top
- 6:38Speaker 2: line of Slavkowski, Suzuki, cole Koff, I mean, Nick Suzuki,
- 6:42Speaker 2: you can't say enough about what he's done since four Nations.
- 6:45Speaker 2: And then Lane Hudson, who's having a career year first
- 6:48Speaker 2: year to the season.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Now, so Hatson's gonna get the Calder.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, he's locked up for the call. There's no chance.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I mean, he's he's breaking NHL records like records of
- 6:56Speaker 2: all time assist by defenseman. He's one off. I think
- 7:00Speaker 2: who's he missing? He's second on the all time list,
- 7:02Speaker 2: and he's won away from getting it. Tell you you correct.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I believe he got my doppel game. I think he
- 7:07Speaker 1: tied cell record for points.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that's points by defenseman, but assist all time, he's
- 7:13Speaker 2: he's number two, So tal will get that number.
- 7:15Speaker 1: To us by Larry Murphy.
- 7:17Speaker 2: That's incredible, insane. He's what he's and I watched, I've watched,
- 7:20Speaker 2: and I've really dialed in him and the offensive zone.
- 7:23Speaker 2: He's Quinn Hughes esque. Uh, and he's a lot better
- 7:26Speaker 2: defensively than people think. So he's on my list. And
- 7:29Speaker 2: you look down in the West. You got Winnipeg. I mean,
- 7:31Speaker 2: there's a year for Winnipeg to win. This is the
- 7:33Speaker 2: team to do it.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Uh.
- 7:34Speaker 2: And then you've got Edmonton, who who knows when they
- 7:37Speaker 2: get healthy and what they can do. I think Edmonton will.
- 7:41Speaker 2: They'll only meet Winnipeg in the conference finals. So those
- 7:44Speaker 2: two teams in the West can clear out the two
- 7:46Speaker 2: Canadian teams And imagine Winnipeg versus Edmonton and the conference
- 7:52Speaker 2: Can you imagine that.
- 7:54Speaker 1: A nightmare for Turner in ESPN, but it's.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Gary will be like.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But McDavid and drysl versus Hallibug, Shifley Connor. Yeah, it'd
- 8:04Speaker 1: be great hockey.
- 8:06Speaker 2: And then and then out east it's you know, you
- 8:08Speaker 2: look at Montreal and again they're close to Ottawa. Montreal.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Ottawa has the capabilities to upset Washington because the thing
- 8:16Speaker 2: with Washington, as we talked about it and I've now
- 8:18Speaker 2: watched in the past week or so, and maybe it's
- 8:20Speaker 2: just because they were trying to get Ovechkin the record,
- 8:23Speaker 2: but they have not been playing good hockey at all.
- 8:25Speaker 2: The goaltending has been suffering. They're giving up way too
- 8:27Speaker 2: many chances. They've been really soft on the d side
- 8:30Speaker 2: of the puck. Alexi Protus gets injured two games ago.
- 8:34Speaker 2: There's a lot that I don't like in that team.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And I don't know if they've just been clicking at
- 8:38Speaker 2: such a high level because they're playing for Alex Ovechkin
- 8:42Speaker 2: and also the Ovechkin effect. Novechkin last year in the
- 8:44Speaker 2: playoffs kind of had you know, he went on the
- 8:47Speaker 2: scoring tear, ended up with thirty thirty one, kind of
- 8:50Speaker 2: disappeared in the playoffs. Now is he gonna do it
- 8:54Speaker 2: again they go into the playoffs. What is he really
- 8:56Speaker 2: playing for? He's won a cup, he's got the all
- 8:58Speaker 2: time goals record. It's going to be on him to
- 9:01Speaker 2: self motivate to keep playing for the guys. So I'm
- 9:04Speaker 2: a little unsure at how if the gas pedals all
- 9:08Speaker 2: the way down, they got their foot on the gas
- 9:09Speaker 2: and they're going still, and you're playing a team like
- 9:12Speaker 2: the Canadians at this Bell Center. Man, oh my god,
- 9:14Speaker 2: it's gonna be there.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Darryl Demrz right now is losing his money.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Oh he's losing his mind right now. He's he He
- 9:19Speaker 2: called me today. We got to get tickets. Get me tickets.
- 9:22Speaker 2: He goes call Christian Devoak, I need tickets. I'm like,
- 9:24Speaker 2: they're not in yet. Dead settle down.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm telling you right now, fans, if the Habs make
- 9:30Speaker 1: the playoffs, we all believe they will, Daryl de Merz
- 9:32Speaker 1: will be a guest as much as he wants. He'll
- 9:33Speaker 1: come on for a Habs minute.
- 9:35Speaker 2: We do sixty.
- 9:36Speaker 1: We're doing Canadians in sixty. Let's go.
- 9:38Speaker 2: He's he's great, and I mean listen, Habs are also
- 9:41Speaker 2: getting to put a ball on this this is the
- 9:43Speaker 2: year for the Canadians. But the Habs they're also getting
- 9:45Speaker 2: Ivan Demodov. Oh yeah, there we go and and talk
- 9:48Speaker 2: to me. I'm gonna I'm gonna segue into this.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I love it.
- 9:51Speaker 2: After my rant, I've in Demoedoff and I've gotten inside
- 9:55Speaker 2: sources from the Kremlin. Inside the Kremlin, I got it.
- 9:59Speaker 1: For those For those who think you're being hyperbolic, you
- 10:01Speaker 1: did play in the kh play in Russia and I
- 10:03Speaker 1: have a lot in side.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Source is still there. I'm not a Russian spy, so
- 10:07Speaker 2: don't say anything like that. But I have guys that
- 10:09Speaker 2: are playing in the KHL Wow that I texted and
- 10:13Speaker 2: I was like hey, I was like, give me some
- 10:15Speaker 2: down low on Demodoff, Like, I know he's his talent,
- 10:18Speaker 2: what do you think? And the things I got is
- 10:20Speaker 2: he's better than Mishkoff. What a better skater, wow, more
- 10:24Speaker 2: skilled than Meetshkoff, bigger player as well. They also said
- 10:28Speaker 2: that in that playoff round they just played, they lost
- 10:31Speaker 2: in the playoffs, he was the best player. He is
- 10:34Speaker 2: NHL ready if he gets a little bit stronger, which
- 10:38Speaker 2: will happen next year, but I think he'll be playing
- 10:40Speaker 2: on so much adrenaline when he comes playing in the NHL,
- 10:43Speaker 2: playing in that Bell Center, playing in that atmosphere, that
- 10:45Speaker 2: he'll be just fine. But if he gets a little
- 10:47Speaker 2: bit stronger, this is going to be a dominant player.
- 10:49Speaker 2: So again, you look at Mitchkoff, he played in Sochi
- 10:53Speaker 2: was not a great team, so he was able to
- 10:55Speaker 2: really thrive. Demonows is the best player on one of
- 10:57Speaker 2: the best teams in the KHL. That's hard to do
- 11:00Speaker 2: as a young guy. He just and then here's the
- 11:03Speaker 2: other things I said. He's he's the ice really well,
- 11:05Speaker 2: skill set's going to be really good. Gets a touch stronger,
- 11:08Speaker 2: it's going to help him out for sure. But these
- 11:11Speaker 2: are guys that have played and are in this league
- 11:13Speaker 2: that are like, this guy is the real deal. He's
- 11:16Speaker 2: and all the talk I've heard out of Montreal like
- 11:20Speaker 2: he's going top six, He's getting top six minutes right away.
- 11:23Speaker 2: He's not gonna take first line, but he'll be on
- 11:25Speaker 2: that second line. And I think he's gonna really be
- 11:28Speaker 2: He's going to really be an impact player early. And
- 11:31Speaker 2: I think people are the real fans in Montreal that
- 11:35Speaker 2: have really been watching him are really excited. And I
- 11:37Speaker 2: didn't quite know a bit and I watched him. I mean,
- 11:38Speaker 2: this guy is just a highlight reel, but his skills
- 11:41Speaker 2: and I just heard right now he's gonna come in
- 11:43Speaker 2: and probably be better than the Meatchoff. And look what
- 11:45Speaker 2: meats him this year.
- 11:46Speaker 1: That's incredible. Top three, top four as far as the
- 11:49Speaker 1: call and.
- 11:49Speaker 2: The Meachcoff fans and Philly will come for me. But yes,
- 11:52Speaker 2: you know that's that's the headline is He's got to
- 11:54Speaker 2: be better than Meechkoff and right now will probably be
- 11:58Speaker 2: better than him. So I'm gonna I'm gonna have to
- 12:00Speaker 2: eat some craw if.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I'm I like it bolder.
- 12:03Speaker 2: This is what I've heard, and I've heard it from
- 12:05Speaker 2: inside the kremlin, all right.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Before I kick it to tell, I do want to
- 12:07Speaker 1: mention specifically the guards of Lane Hudson. The record for
- 12:10Speaker 1: assists by a rookie defenseman Larry Murphy with sixty in
- 12:13Speaker 1: nineteen eighty eighty one. Lanne Hudson curly is fifty eight,
- 12:15Speaker 1: so to your point, could be a record breaker among
- 12:17Speaker 1: all defensemen. Tal as a boyhood failed a bunch of
- 12:19Speaker 1: all Canadians. Your level excitement right now about this team, man,
- 12:23Speaker 1: adding demodop to JD's points one minute, theyre going to
- 12:25Speaker 1: make the playoffs and bother of the habs in their
- 12:26Speaker 1: stort history have the never missed the plasts four straight seasons.
- 12:29Speaker 1: They had to at least get the dances here. But
- 12:31Speaker 1: are they capable of upsetting the Caps?
- 12:34Speaker 4: Well? A little background first.
- 12:36Speaker 5: I grew up a short walk from the old Forum
- 12:38Speaker 5: and actually was a little kid haggling with scalpers outside
- 12:43Speaker 5: of the building.
- 12:43Speaker 4: If anyone remembers scalpers.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Yes, I was, tell you with the mustache when you
- 12:48Speaker 5: were Yeah, yeah, at twelve, I had the mustache haggling.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Come on, I mean everyone everyone, I'm everyone I'm talking to.
- 12:57Speaker 5: I still have plenty of friends and family Montreal that
- 13:00Speaker 5: the energy is absolutely off the charts with the Canadians
- 13:03Speaker 5: right now. Part of it is because they're they're the
- 13:06Speaker 5: guys leading the charge. Are their younger players. It's Hudson,
- 13:09Speaker 5: It's Cawfield, Suzuki slaf you know, these are the guys
- 13:12Speaker 5: who are supposed to be leading this team in the
- 13:14Speaker 5: playoffs two three years from now, not now. I think
- 13:18Speaker 5: there's a lot of confidence. I think it looks like
- 13:21Speaker 5: it's gonna be the Capitals. I don't see it happening.
- 13:24Speaker 5: That team is so stacked, you never know. There's a
- 13:26Speaker 5: lot of references to twenty ten when it was the
- 13:29Speaker 5: same situation and Yaro Hallak introduced himself to the world.
- 13:33Speaker 4: But it's exciting.
- 13:34Speaker 2: I think.
- 13:35Speaker 5: I think the management for that team said they wanted
- 13:37Speaker 5: to be in the mix and playing meaningful, meaningful games
- 13:40Speaker 5: in March and April.
- 13:41Speaker 2: They did that.
- 13:42Speaker 4: So everything from that moment on, including the demigod.
- 13:45Speaker 5: As I like to call him, Wow, is just a
- 13:49Speaker 5: little a little extra icing to a fun season.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Fun season for listen.
- 13:53Speaker 2: They have that capability. I agree with talent and but
- 13:57Speaker 2: I think they're gonna give them all they can handle.
- 13:59Speaker 2: So Caps coming out of this round, they're gonna get
- 14:02Speaker 2: tested a lot more than people think. And that's going
- 14:04Speaker 2: to be It's not gonna be like last year where
- 14:06Speaker 2: you know, Washington Limpton, they were the team that Limpton
- 14:09Speaker 2: had just got swept in four nos, in and out.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I think these two teams in the wildcard spot Otto
- 14:14Speaker 2: one Montreal are here to play. They want to win.
- 14:17Speaker 2: They're here to play. They're not just gonna be satisfied
- 14:19Speaker 2: with being in the playoffs. They want to win.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Props for my buddy Jeff Gordon from NHL Network obviously
- 14:25Speaker 1: running the habs done a great job. And of course
- 14:27Speaker 1: Marty seeing Louis the head coach, there are some concerns
- 14:28Speaker 1: year three for Marty the guy get in. They're gonna
- 14:30Speaker 1: get in. That's good news there. As Tal was saying
- 14:32Speaker 1: that the front office wanted to be involved. They're involved
- 14:34Speaker 1: in the playoff picks, probably gonna be in the playoffs.
- 14:35Speaker 1: We go from a team right now flying on all
- 14:38Speaker 1: cylinders that Florida Panthers now strong performance against Stronomy Polieves
- 14:42Speaker 1: last night. But are the Panthers tanking? We don't typically
- 14:45Speaker 1: wait into conspiracy theories, but Jadie Simmers saying, hey, some
- 14:47Speaker 1: key player has been out of the lineup. Has him
- 14:49Speaker 1: been sliding down the standings. There's just four points up
- 14:51Speaker 1: on the Sins, who hold that first wild card SUP
- 14:53Speaker 1: on the East now to one lost the Wings on Sunday.
- 14:56Speaker 1: They're already without Matthew Kachuck and Aaron eck Bladd and
- 14:58Speaker 1: then chose to sit Barkoff, Forestling, Sam Reinhardt, Sam Bennett,
- 15:02Speaker 1: Nico Sturm to meet Cha Kolakoff. Some people think of that, Hey,
- 15:05Speaker 1: you know, they're just gonna take it the rest of
- 15:06Speaker 1: the way. Now, I will mention Barkoff, Fors and Whine
- 15:09Speaker 1: are all back that win against the Leaps last night.
- 15:12Speaker 2: But what do you make of this, Well, you look
- 15:15Speaker 2: at the same situation in Edmonton. It's a team that
- 15:18Speaker 2: has went to the finals, played a lot of hockey,
- 15:21Speaker 2: a lot of meaningful hockey. Florida's went to the finals
- 15:24Speaker 2: two years in a row. Yep, you just got to
- 15:26Speaker 2: get there. This is a battle tested team, battle hardened
- 15:29Speaker 2: team in the Florida Panthers. They don't care where they
- 15:32Speaker 2: finished home ice, non home ice. It's not important to them.
- 15:35Speaker 2: They're gonna go anywhere they want. So for me, I
- 15:38Speaker 2: think it's more a question of Paul Maurice recognizing that
- 15:41Speaker 2: and recognizing you a veteran group that understands how to
- 15:44Speaker 2: win and knows how to win on the road, and
- 15:45Speaker 2: they're like, you know what, let's just get healthy. We
- 15:47Speaker 2: don't want to limp into the playoffs not healthy and
- 15:50Speaker 2: not one hundred percent. So he's going to give those
- 15:52Speaker 2: guys rest. I'm sure there's a lot of talk it's
- 15:54Speaker 2: the same thing with Edmonton. I was saying it three
- 15:57Speaker 2: four weeks ago. It's like just shut down Leon and
- 15:59Speaker 2: Connor until the last three games of the season. Leon
- 16:03Speaker 2: came back a little early. I think he was chasing
- 16:05Speaker 2: the art ross now and the art ross and potentially
- 16:08Speaker 2: the hard I think he gets a little dinged up
- 16:09Speaker 2: and they're like, you're done until, you know, until maybe
- 16:12Speaker 2: the last two games of the season. Let those guys
- 16:14Speaker 2: ramp up, have like a mini training camp. But it's
- 16:16Speaker 2: just not worth it. You got You're gonna need every minute,
- 16:19Speaker 2: every single minute, every second from those guys, and if
- 16:21Speaker 2: you don't have it, you're really gonna be in trouble.
- 16:25Speaker 2: And I think is a very gonna be a very
- 16:27Speaker 2: tough year to win the Cup. It's not gonna be
- 16:29Speaker 2: so cut and dry like years past for Florida as well.
- 16:32Speaker 2: You know, I don't think they're just gonna walk through
- 16:35Speaker 2: kind of like they did last year. It's gonna be tough.
- 16:37Speaker 2: The books out on him a little bit, not to
- 16:38Speaker 2: say that they're not dominant, but teams are gonna give
- 16:41Speaker 2: him their best foot forward. And the teams in the
- 16:42Speaker 2: East that are contending are better than they were last year.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So I think pal Murrays understands that Bill Zito understands
- 16:49Speaker 2: that they're not stupid. They're gonna go. Listen, we are
- 16:53Speaker 2: calming it down. Everybody, sit, relax, get healthy, get ready
- 16:58Speaker 2: for the run of all runs and years in the finals.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yeah, and for Florida and Tampa, it's not as important
- 17:03Speaker 1: to win the division for it is right. The Leafs
- 17:05Speaker 1: don't get that spot. And I'm not saying the Battle
- 17:07Speaker 1: of on Terry's a walk over either, but I think
- 17:09Speaker 1: it's a stiffer challenge for them having to face Florida Tampas.
- 17:12Speaker 1: So they're pushing to try to win that division. For
- 17:13Speaker 1: Florida and Tampa, just said battle tested, but there before
- 17:16Speaker 1: be healthy and that could be a help a series
- 17:17Speaker 1: by the way, Panthers Lightning out of the Gate and
- 17:19Speaker 1: that Battle of Ontario. Speaking of awards, I just want
- 17:21Speaker 1: to quickly mention I never, you know, had to text
- 17:24Speaker 1: me the case with Frank Saravelli before, but he text
- 17:26Speaker 1: your Hi, man, this is Frank Serrevelli. How are you doing?
- 17:30Speaker 1: Wondering if you'd be interested in voting on NHL Awards
- 17:32Speaker 1: this year as an invited broadcaster, We do the heart
- 17:35Speaker 1: Norris calder Selki and Bank and Talent's expression was my expression, eyeser,
- 17:39Speaker 1: but my wing on. I get to be a voter.
- 17:41Speaker 1: People away. You vote for the Academy Awards, that could know,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I mean voting for the NHL Awards. Dude, that's unbelievable.
- 17:46Speaker 1: As a kid, that was a god. This is amazing.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Listen, very very happy for you for that, and also
- 17:51Speaker 2: happy for your Uber eats commercial. But where the fuck
- 17:54Speaker 2: is my commercial? Where's my voting thing? I'm broadcast? You're
- 17:57Speaker 2: going to text him right now?
- 17:58Speaker 1: Hey, Frank, just as a follow up me, Jason de
- 18:00Speaker 1: Merse is curious, why the fuck is he not involved
- 18:03Speaker 1: as well? It's absolute bullsheto right there, dude, I'm Norris
- 18:08Speaker 1: called or Selk and big. I go, wow, I don't
- 18:11Speaker 1: even want vest because it's hell about anyways. I could
- 18:13Speaker 1: do the fun stuff, So yeah you should. If you're
- 18:15Speaker 1: gonna go Macar for Norris, I don't even macr. I
- 18:17Speaker 1: just go with bias. I've even mcar mccarth. Are you
- 18:19Speaker 1: allowed to disclose this great? Is this motor fraud? We
- 18:23Speaker 1: already discussed Hodson for Calder. That's done, okay, So you
- 18:26Speaker 1: give me a Selkie. I'll let you give me your
- 18:28Speaker 1: selki choice. God, take your time, you hit me up.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Whatever you want and you got. Hey, buddy, we're going
- 18:31Speaker 1: this for Selke. Okay, I've been I haven't look at
- 18:33Speaker 1: Selky yet, Teal, go ahead, man Selk there's gonna be
- 18:35Speaker 1: You can vote the Lady bang whatever you want. You
- 18:37Speaker 1: tell me the Lady bang Alo.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Yeah, there might be some new ones in Selke. I
- 18:41Speaker 2: hope they You know, I think Barkov's been Barkov has
- 18:44Speaker 2: been a little hurt this year to give it to him,
- 18:45Speaker 2: But you got you gotta look like Adrian KEMPI can
- 18:48Speaker 2: be on that list. He's one that can be on
- 18:50Speaker 2: that list. You look at Mark Scheifeley. Mark Scheifeley could
- 18:53Speaker 2: be on that list. Uh you look at who else
- 18:57Speaker 2: do I have that I'm thinking off the top of
- 18:59Speaker 2: my head, right two way player, Yeah, you're those two
- 19:03Speaker 2: kind of Robert Thomas, very very undercover. No one's talking
- 19:08Speaker 2: about them. I mean you could borderline say Nix Suzuki
- 19:11Speaker 2: at this point, I'm just saying the very underrated ones,
- 19:14Speaker 2: the people that aren't really gonna think. And then you know,
- 19:16Speaker 2: Austin Matthews is going to be in there, so is
- 19:20Speaker 2: you know bark Off. Those guys will be there. But
- 19:22Speaker 2: you know, even look at Washington, and you talk about
- 19:25Speaker 2: Washington the year they had and the team they had,
- 19:27Speaker 2: I mean you got to give some consideration to like
- 19:30Speaker 2: a peer Luke Dubois as well, Like those are just
- 19:33Speaker 2: my I'm just looking at my team who would be
- 19:35Speaker 2: I'm I'm not making any picks because Selki's always an
- 19:38Speaker 2: interesting one for me. I never know quite I kind
- 19:41Speaker 2: of know who they're gonna pick every year, but I
- 19:43Speaker 2: just like to pick other guys that maybe aren't often
- 19:46Speaker 2: talked about.
- 19:46Speaker 1: And a familiar named talj just throughout.
- 19:48Speaker 2: What about Copatar? Yeah, co Patar for sure. I mean
- 19:51Speaker 2: this season has had but I would argue Kempe has
- 19:54Speaker 2: kind of played that. They've played together in the penalty kill,
- 19:57Speaker 2: they played against the top lines, you know, and they've
- 20:00Speaker 2: really done a fantastic jobs. You're giving it to either one,
- 20:02Speaker 2: so it's I guess the guy you recognize more in
- 20:06Speaker 2: that position as the guy that gets it. So but
- 20:08Speaker 2: I listen, there's I think it's a tighter race for
- 20:11Speaker 2: the Selki this year than people think that was.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Actually Dovetails probably looks. I do want to do a
- 20:15Speaker 1: little Kings talk with you because you mentioned the oilers,
- 20:18Speaker 1: the fact that McDavid and dry sall not playing right now.
- 20:20Speaker 1: They're like, okay, fine, all good. It's gonna be the
- 20:21Speaker 1: fourth straight year Kings and Oilers now except in the past,
- 20:25Speaker 1: Oilers have had home ice all three times and the
- 20:27Speaker 1: Kings j D. I don't know how people have been
- 20:28Speaker 1: paying attention. This is a historic run they've had at
- 20:31Speaker 1: home this year twenty nine to five and four at
- 20:33Speaker 1: home sickening right, So normally I go home ice in
- 20:36Speaker 1: the playoffs. Could I know, the crowds are awesome and stuff,
- 20:39Speaker 1: but man, great teams can win on the road and
- 20:41Speaker 1: underachieving teams can lose at home. When I see twenty nine,
- 20:44Speaker 1: five and four, I go, okay, home ice could be
- 20:46Speaker 1: important in the best of seven and McDavid and Drysottle
- 20:48Speaker 1: could be just coming back literally just for the playoffs.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Is this finally the year you can buy on the Kings.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I would buy in the Kings that you know the
- 20:56Speaker 2: Edmonton is. I'm not super bullish on them this year,
- 20:59Speaker 2: just because compared to last year, I just the vibes
- 21:02Speaker 2: and Edmonton seem off all over the place, and yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 2: it just doesn't seem right. I don't know the mix
- 21:11Speaker 2: of guys doesn't seem right. Something seems off with the
- 21:14Speaker 2: leadership group there. I don't know what it is. I
- 21:17Speaker 2: can't put my finger on it, but it's just been
- 21:19Speaker 2: from the season opener there's been just a negative cloud
- 21:23Speaker 2: over that team. Regardless of the winning streaks, regardless of
- 21:26Speaker 2: the season that dry titles having, it just doesn't seem
- 21:29Speaker 2: the same. Like Evan Bouchard offensive, he's having a great
- 21:32Speaker 2: season again, quietly no one's talking about him, but they're
- 21:36Speaker 2: talking about negatively, Like if you watch his game, you
- 21:38Speaker 2: wouldn't really think he's having a year like he had
- 21:40Speaker 2: last year. So Mattias, that Comb's injured, there's a lot
- 21:43Speaker 2: of injuries. You know, is Evander Kain coming back?
- 21:46Speaker 6: Is he not?
- 21:47Speaker 2: You know, how's Skinner doing. It's just weird. They lost
- 21:50Speaker 2: their two young guys to offer sheets. It just doesn't
- 21:53Speaker 2: feel like they're here. Maybe they pull it out of
- 21:54Speaker 2: the fire. But if I'm the Kings and I'm getting
- 21:56Speaker 2: home ice right now, that was what I said a
- 21:59Speaker 2: month ago. That is their biggest concern is getting home
- 22:03Speaker 2: ice advantag They get always advantage. They are a dangerous
- 22:06Speaker 2: team and especially round one and listen four times, you know,
- 22:10Speaker 2: death taxes and La King's playing dminton in the first round.
- 22:14Speaker 2: You know, the fourth times of charm. This is they
- 22:17Speaker 2: gotta bug up their ass to beat Edmonton. So it's like,
- 22:20Speaker 2: this is gonna be this is gonna be something like
- 22:23Speaker 2: they have a chip on their shoulder. They're not taking
- 22:25Speaker 2: this lightly. They've probably been pre scouting him since the
- 22:28Speaker 2: past month and now they get home Ice. I'm sure
- 22:30Speaker 2: they're gonna be very confident going in that series. But listen,
- 22:33Speaker 2: do you bet against me? Jesus and Leonidas? Who knows?
- 22:36Speaker 1: That's why I love the fact you're pushing for the Kings,
- 22:38Speaker 1: but I just want to point out if they lose
- 22:40Speaker 1: a fourth straight in row against the Oilers, I mean,
- 22:42Speaker 1: you gotta it's all.
- 22:43Speaker 2: You gotta hang them up.
- 22:44Speaker 1: If you're look rabatiging guy, it's been fun.
- 22:46Speaker 2: You feel like Jordan and Jordan pipping against the pistons there, Eh,
- 22:50Speaker 2: how do we beat this guy that's getting the gym?
- 22:54Speaker 1: One more topic for the one to take a quick break.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Gabrielanda Scott speculation for a while, but coming back, we're
- 22:59Speaker 1: turning the line first time. It's winging the Stanley Cup.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Back in twenty twenty two, he's been loaned the Colorado
- 23:05Speaker 1: Eagles of the American Hockey League for conditioning stint knee
- 23:08Speaker 1: surgery in twenty twenty two. Cartilage transplant may have twenty
- 23:11Speaker 1: twenty three. I saw Jared Bednar when we were in
- 23:14Speaker 1: Dallas weeks ago, and I just it was amazing because
- 23:17Speaker 1: it was flames apps and talked to Nas and Kadrina's
- 23:19Speaker 1: was saying, I still mesmize missing the banner, and I thought,
- 23:22Speaker 1: I'm still mesmized with Jared Bednor's hair, Like I've never
- 23:24Speaker 1: seen anything like it. Like I'm just staring at it,
- 23:26Speaker 1: going like like what is happening here? Like how much
- 23:28Speaker 1: head and shoulders is he put in that thing? And
- 23:30Speaker 1: he's a surfing guy. Goes to Carolina, but I had
- 23:33Speaker 1: somehow to get the words out of my mouth. That's
- 23:34Speaker 1: I'm staring at his hair. Golis and atlantiscock coach and
- 23:37Speaker 1: he goes, oh, he's coaching with the team. You know,
- 23:38Speaker 1: it's kind of been around. I'm like, h and I
- 23:40Speaker 1: just I started to pulling the curls just to see
- 23:42Speaker 1: if it was real. But I know you're fired U
- 23:43Speaker 1: about this topic. Could Atlantis goot come back to this team?
- 23:46Speaker 2: I think it's not if it's when. I just think
- 23:50Speaker 2: he's in the HL right now in conditioning stint and
- 23:53Speaker 2: it's gonna be very I think they're gonna test him out,
- 23:57Speaker 2: They're gonna just kind of play him some special teams.
- 23:59Speaker 2: But again, people are missing the mark on this. This
- 24:02Speaker 2: is not a question of islandis gonna come back and
- 24:05Speaker 2: be Gabriel Lanescog. I think those days might be gone
- 24:08Speaker 2: and I may be wrong, but can he come back?
- 24:12Speaker 2: Be the one thing that it's sorry, The one thing
- 24:13Speaker 2: that he can be is a great leader and a
- 24:15Speaker 2: guy to take some pressure off of a Nate McKinnon
- 24:19Speaker 2: on the bench and in the room, because Nate McKinnon
- 24:21Speaker 2: has to shoulder that load all by himself. He's really
- 24:25Speaker 2: been trying to do everything, be the leader, be the
- 24:27Speaker 2: points score, be everything for this team, and I think
- 24:30Speaker 2: it's going to take a toll on him if they
- 24:31Speaker 2: want to go in a long run. So this is
- 24:33Speaker 2: a guy that you can put on the bench and
- 24:35Speaker 2: will calm things down. Highly respected in the room, just
- 24:38Speaker 2: a great leader and again he can give you ten
- 24:40Speaker 2: twelve minutes. Nothing against Parker Kelly or Jimmy VC, but
- 24:45Speaker 2: I would rather have Gabelaniskog at seventy percent just his
- 24:49Speaker 2: hockey IQ Alon. Yeah, he's not going to be the
- 24:50Speaker 2: same player. I'm not expecting him to play twenty two
- 24:53Speaker 2: minutes a night, and maybe he's It's something where you
- 24:55Speaker 2: can plug and play him. You play him game one,
- 24:58Speaker 2: he sits Game two, you play in game three, and
- 25:00Speaker 2: you just kind of because on their bottom sixer's been
- 25:02Speaker 2: a little bit of all revolving to of guys. You
- 25:05Speaker 2: throw Gabriel lantisk that's a bonus. So I think this
- 25:08Speaker 2: coaching staff isn't stupid. I think they're very smart, very
- 25:11Speaker 2: underrated at how good of a coaching staff. This is
- 25:14Speaker 2: as a whole and as a group, their whole, the
- 25:16Speaker 2: whole GM, you know, McFarlane, from top to bottom. I
- 25:20Speaker 2: think this is very intelligent group of guys on the
- 25:23Speaker 2: management side of things and the coaching staff. They're gonna
- 25:26Speaker 2: do the right thing by this team. But this is
- 25:28Speaker 2: a guy that will only benefit you if he's sitting
- 25:32Speaker 2: on the bench. This is not a guy that's gonna
- 25:33Speaker 2: hurt you, especially with they're fine in the top six.
- 25:36Speaker 2: They don't need him in the top six. They're set.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Nishushkin nahis all these guys drawing liking in. They got
- 25:42Speaker 2: their top six, they're good, they're set. They need a
- 25:45Speaker 2: bottom six depth guy. Maybe play some power play on
- 25:49Speaker 2: the second unit and just be a good leader. And
- 25:52Speaker 2: that's what he does so well.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Lantos go as you said, I'll be back soon around
- 25:56Speaker 1: the land for the Avalanches coming back next year on
- 25:57Speaker 1: NHL and scriptor we're talking to Barrett Hayden. That's right,
- 26:00Speaker 1: having a fantastic gear for the Utah Hockey Club. I
- 26:03Speaker 1: want to ask them what the team nickname could be
- 26:04Speaker 1: moving forward, Clayton Keller and also maybe some JD stories
- 26:07Speaker 1: as well. It's coming up right after this here unscripted
- 26:21Speaker 1: our special guest today. Draft of fifth o'ugh rawba the
- 26:24Speaker 1: Arizona Coyotes in the twenty eighteen NHL Draft in the
- 26:26Speaker 1: franchise his first season as the Utah Hockey Club, he
- 26:29Speaker 1: is poised to set career highs for goals, assists, and points.
- 26:33Speaker 1: He is a huge part of a young, up and
- 26:35Speaker 1: coming team in Utah. It is Baron Hayton here an
- 26:38Speaker 1: NHL unscripted Baron.
- 26:40Speaker 6: Great to see you, yeah for sure, thanks for having
- 26:42Speaker 6: me on. Always good to see JD's face so happy
- 26:45Speaker 6: to be here, be nice.
- 26:48Speaker 1: What's been the key this season? Do you think for
- 26:50Speaker 1: yourself Barrett? Like, obviously the hear you're having it must
- 26:52Speaker 1: be so rewarding to yourself.
- 26:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I think for myself last year was tough. I
- 26:57Speaker 6: was injured a lot of the year, dealt with two
- 27:00Speaker 6: injuries that kind of kept me out for a bunch
- 27:01Speaker 6: of time. So that's never fun, uh said no, watching
- 27:05Speaker 6: your team play, not being able to help. But I
- 27:08Speaker 6: think I learned some stuff from that and was able
- 27:10Speaker 6: to bring that into this year, and yeah, it's been
- 27:13Speaker 6: good to build on that.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Where do you kind of get your mindset from? Is
- 27:17Speaker 2: it something you've because you know, I've you lived in
- 27:19Speaker 2: my house, I've seen you since you were a kid.
- 27:21Speaker 2: I've seen your ups and downs and and uh, you
- 27:24Speaker 2: know as a teammate to a fan, Uh, just where
- 27:28Speaker 2: do you get your mindset from? Because you did have
- 27:30Speaker 2: some struggles, some injuries, and even last year you're you're
- 27:33Speaker 2: starting to really get on a roll and then you
- 27:35Speaker 2: hurt your hand, and and how did you through all
- 27:37Speaker 2: of that manage to stay kind of locked in and
- 27:40Speaker 2: just keeping better, just keep getting better and better every day? Like,
- 27:43Speaker 2: where do you attribute that to, Yeah, you know how
- 27:46Speaker 2: it is.
- 27:48Speaker 6: I came in young, back when we were together. You
- 27:52Speaker 6: don't really know much about the league. You're just kind
- 27:55Speaker 6: of coming from junior trying to find your way, trying
- 27:58Speaker 6: to understand the game, and also just trying to find
- 28:01Speaker 6: your your own game and understand what you're good at. Obviously,
- 28:05Speaker 6: coming from younger levels you can kind of play more
- 28:09Speaker 6: of an open game and touch all facets, and in
- 28:13Speaker 6: the NHL you got to find your niches with what
- 28:16Speaker 6: you're able to be successful with and areas naturally you're
- 28:19Speaker 6: comfortable with where you like getting the puck and just
- 28:22Speaker 6: kind of trying to find consistency with that as well.
- 28:24Speaker 6: So I think through all of those ups and downs,
- 28:27Speaker 6: obviously it's not fun when you're going through it, but
- 28:30Speaker 6: at the same time, I mean, we're all lucky to
- 28:34Speaker 6: be NHL players, and you got to kind of look
- 28:37Speaker 6: at it that way while also learning where you can grow.
- 28:41Speaker 6: And I think that's kind of what it's been for me.
- 28:43Speaker 6: I've always loved the game and just keeping that through
- 28:46Speaker 6: those tough times.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Well, Baron, I wasn't gonna bring this up, but you know,
- 28:49Speaker 1: there's expression of a certain age, you know, he beat
- 28:51Speaker 1: him like he owed him money. And and to your expression,
- 28:53Speaker 1: I mean the fact that you said that you live
- 28:55Speaker 1: with them, is it true you're still own some rent money.
- 28:58Speaker 2: He'll tell you that.
- 29:00Speaker 6: I don't know if we got into the fine print
- 29:02Speaker 6: what what the details would be. But yeah, no, it's
- 29:05Speaker 6: always fun catching up. We caught up in New York
- 29:07Speaker 6: and yeah, probably, Hi, how are you? Where's my rent money?
- 29:12Speaker 6: That's kind of how it goes. Yeah, it's it's always fun.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Well, he did buy me dinner that night, but it
- 29:19Speaker 2: was because he lost credit card game and that's why
- 29:23Speaker 2: he ended up doing And so it was something that typically,
- 29:26Speaker 2: you know, he didn't want to. But so he's on
- 29:28Speaker 2: his way and you know, he's bought me a suit.
- 29:30Speaker 2: He's been a he was a gracious house guest. But
- 29:33Speaker 2: you know, we lived together through COVID, which was crazy
- 29:36Speaker 2: and you know, such a bonding experience for life. But
- 29:40Speaker 2: you know, we we The funny story before we get
- 29:43Speaker 2: into the Utah stuff, is we're living together, COVID shuts
- 29:46Speaker 2: down the world, my wife flies from New York to
- 29:50Speaker 2: shack up with us. He ends up having a COVID
- 29:52Speaker 2: girlfriend through the whole, the whole rung of it. Just
- 29:55Speaker 2: a COVID girl from COVID girlfriend. Yeah, he had a
- 29:58Speaker 2: COVID girlfriend, just zoom and stuff living in the house.
- 30:01Speaker 2: And these two kids at that point appbsolutely terrorized us
- 30:06Speaker 2: like rap. Me and my wife talked about it. No,
- 30:08Speaker 2: they terrorized us with pranks. They took over the house
- 30:11Speaker 2: to the point where we were fearful for our lives
- 30:13Speaker 2: and and just the ship they were pulling on us.
- 30:15Speaker 2: So talk about that whole experience of like going from
- 30:19Speaker 2: being you know, living with you know, by yourself or
- 30:23Speaker 2: with your family or billet families all of a sudden
- 30:25Speaker 2: like we're on our own in COVID and like having
- 30:27Speaker 2: to navigate that whole thing. What was your best moment
- 30:30Speaker 2: of that?
- 30:32Speaker 6: Yeah, Yeah, that was definitely crazy times. Like you say,
- 30:35Speaker 6: obviously easy, like the rules were different than they were
- 30:39Speaker 6: in Canada. I know, my buddies and stuff like that.
- 30:42Speaker 6: My family they were locked in their house for a
- 30:44Speaker 6: long time, so we had a little more freedom. But yeah,
- 30:46Speaker 6: I mean that was definitely a situation that I don't
- 30:51Speaker 6: think will ever be replicated.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:55Speaker 6: I don't know if I have too many comments on that.
- 30:57Speaker 6: Let's let's been the page.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Do you remember that. Do you remember the can venture,
- 31:01Speaker 2: the canned vegetables prank you pulled on me?
- 31:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I got uh, I got those like memories on
- 31:08Speaker 6: your phone or whatever pops up, so I see. Uh yeah,
- 31:12Speaker 6: there was a long list that day we went in
- 31:13Speaker 6: on you and uh yeah, sticky notes. Uh there was
- 31:17Speaker 6: a lot of things. Yeah, hindsight, probably not the best move,
- 31:21Speaker 6: but in the moment it was it was worth it.
- 31:24Speaker 2: He sticky noted my car that Daran rap on the door,
- 31:28Speaker 2: Like my car was covered in sticky notes. Then Saran
- 31:31Speaker 2: rap on the door, and then hit all of our
- 31:33Speaker 2: you know, me and my wife, you know, doomsday preppers.
- 31:36Speaker 2: So we like, hit all the cantvetiles, hit all the
- 31:39Speaker 2: cant vegetables. I pissed me off so bad I almost
- 31:42Speaker 2: killed them. But then I went in the room and
- 31:43Speaker 2: I looked at my wife. I'm like, God, that's a
- 31:45Speaker 2: good prank. I'm like, I can't.
- 31:47Speaker 6: That was out of your own book. That was out
- 31:48Speaker 6: of your own book. You you liked that one a
- 31:51Speaker 6: little bit.
- 31:52Speaker 2: It was good. I was like, these kids are I
- 31:55Speaker 2: can't hang with him anymore.
- 31:56Speaker 1: That's it.
- 31:56Speaker 2: But you know, switching gears to Utah first year in Nantah,
- 32:00Speaker 2: you had to go through that transition. Talk about that
- 32:03Speaker 2: transition from Arizona to Utah. You know, how's it been
- 32:06Speaker 2: and kind of have you had any welcome to Utah
- 32:09Speaker 2: moments where it's like geez pinched myself, I'm on an
- 32:11Speaker 2: HL franchise now, Yeah.
- 32:14Speaker 6: I honestly, it was such like a crazy transition. It
- 32:18Speaker 6: happened so fast, like there was rumors and stuff. We
- 32:20Speaker 6: didn't really know anything. But honestly, like the pinch me
- 32:25Speaker 6: moment or what kind of welcome to Utah, whatever you
- 32:29Speaker 6: want to call it. Ryan Smith his family, his kind
- 32:37Speaker 6: of tight group came down and met with us in Arizona,
- 32:41Speaker 6: and just like right from the get go, you could
- 32:43Speaker 6: tell how much he cared, how much he valued us,
- 32:47Speaker 6: and just kind of understood what we were going through.
- 32:50Speaker 6: And shortly after that we came down here for the
- 32:52Speaker 6: first time, and I think everyone kind of saw that
- 32:55Speaker 6: introduction where Spicy Tuna all began and it was crazy.
- 32:59Speaker 6: It was for like a quick little meet and greet
- 33:01Speaker 6: and Reno was sold out. It was rock and that
- 33:05Speaker 6: was like we didn't really know what it was gonna be.
- 33:08Speaker 6: We kind of thought we were just going to see
- 33:09Speaker 6: the area and whatnot and having that reception you felt
- 33:15Speaker 6: the first game of the year here was was nuts
- 33:17Speaker 6: and O JD saw that and really every game since then,
- 33:21Speaker 6: it's it's been so much fun.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Speaking of Spicy Tuna, Liam O'Brien with a big impression
- 33:27Speaker 1: with that is he's still a local legend in Utah.
- 33:30Speaker 6: Absolutely, Yeah, I know the people here love him and
- 33:33Speaker 6: rightfully so all the guys in the room love him too.
- 33:35Speaker 6: And yeah, he's the best.
- 33:37Speaker 2: I mean, that's just such a great high IQ business
- 33:40Speaker 2: decision of what he did and getting himself signed so smart.
- 33:44Speaker 2: But you mentioned Ryan Smith, and do you got any
- 33:47Speaker 2: stories that stand out, like the coolest thing Ryan Smith
- 33:50Speaker 2: has done for you guys and coolest kind of experience
- 33:52Speaker 2: you've had, because he's really rolled out the red carpet
- 33:54Speaker 2: for you guys.
- 33:56Speaker 6: Yeah, no, he really has. I guess I'm trying to
- 34:00Speaker 6: think of one specific thing, but honestly, just the whole time,
- 34:04Speaker 6: it's it's been unreal. Obviously, the one cool thing is
- 34:07Speaker 6: a connection with the Jazz. He's obviously the owner of
- 34:11Speaker 6: the NBA team here as well, and we've been fortunate
- 34:13Speaker 6: to go to a lot of games and it's cool
- 34:16Speaker 6: the way he's connected us with their head coach. We've
- 34:19Speaker 6: got to kind of go in their locker room around
- 34:22Speaker 6: games and understand the process. A lot of us have
- 34:26Speaker 6: followed basketball for a while and it's such a different
- 34:32Speaker 6: just like a different league, so it's been cool to
- 34:34Speaker 6: kind of see the insides of it and get to
- 34:37Speaker 6: know some of the guys. So it's definitely a long
- 34:40Speaker 6: list of things Ryan Smith has done for us, but
- 34:42Speaker 6: that's definitely been a really cool thing for us.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Has Laurie Marketing have been around the team speaking of the.
- 34:47Speaker 6: Jazz, Yeah, No, he has a bunch obviously, being a
- 34:50Speaker 6: finished guy, loves hockey, comes to a ton of our games.
- 34:55Speaker 6: It's crazy he uh JD saw this, but he was
- 34:58Speaker 6: on the ice for our first game he did. I
- 35:00Speaker 6: think it was a puck drop or something like that,
- 35:02Speaker 6: and it was just insane. You know, they're seven foot
- 35:05Speaker 6: whatever he is flying around. It was nuts.
- 35:08Speaker 1: He's probably a huge team Usaloni fan, Like.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. You uh In twenty twenty one, twenty
- 35:14Speaker 2: twenty twenty one, you got loanto Ilvis in the Finnish League. Yeah,
- 35:18Speaker 2: how was that experience in kind of like shaping your
- 35:21Speaker 2: career because that's pretty rare to go being loan to
- 35:24Speaker 2: a Finnish elite league team, like typically it's somewhere else,
- 35:27Speaker 2: but somewhere somewher closer to home.
- 35:29Speaker 6: That was a unique thing. I was coming off of
- 35:32Speaker 6: COVID season. Leading into COVID was my nineteen year old year,
- 35:35Speaker 6: where with the CHL rules, you can't play in the
- 35:40Speaker 6: AHL you're either in junior or up in the NHL.
- 35:44Speaker 6: So I was fortunate enough to make the team. But
- 35:48Speaker 6: that year, I think I played like twenty five games
- 35:50Speaker 6: playing World Juniors. COVID happened, played a couple of games
- 35:54Speaker 6: in the bubble.
- 35:55Speaker 1: It was just kind of a.
- 35:57Speaker 6: Year that I didn't play a ton of hockey, and
- 35:59Speaker 6: being a young player, I thought it was important for
- 36:02Speaker 6: me to kind of get back into games and stuff.
- 36:04Speaker 6: And at that point we didn't know when the season
- 36:06Speaker 6: was going to start, So I think I went over
- 36:10Speaker 6: there October something like that. Bill had a relationship with
- 36:15Speaker 6: their general manager. Funny enough, Mattias Mitchelli, Yuso Valimaki and
- 36:21Speaker 6: a couple other guys who were drafted to NHL teams
- 36:23Speaker 6: over here were playing there, so it was just kind
- 36:25Speaker 6: of a connection there. I was looking to play went
- 36:29Speaker 6: over there. Unfortunately their season got shut down because of
- 36:32Speaker 6: COVID after a couple of games.
- 36:33Speaker 2: It ended up.
- 36:35Speaker 6: Being a funny thing with that, but it was definitely
- 36:37Speaker 6: something that I was all in on at the time,
- 36:40Speaker 6: and like you say, unique thing.
- 36:41Speaker 1: For sure, a lot's been made better to what the
- 36:44Speaker 1: team's gonna be called next season. I was in favor
- 36:46Speaker 1: of the Yetti because so many teams have an asked
- 36:49Speaker 1: at the end, right Flyers, Rangers least, but the Kraken
- 36:51Speaker 1: is a rare one that does not, and the Yetie
- 36:53Speaker 1: could have been also now probably lost some team enough
- 36:55Speaker 1: to I'm not sure. Why what do you think the
- 36:56Speaker 1: team should be called next season?
- 36:59Speaker 6: That's a good question.
- 37:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 37:00Speaker 6: I don't even really know what the latest is. I know, yeah,
- 37:04Speaker 6: yet he wasn't an option when it came down to it.
- 37:09Speaker 6: And then they're doing a bunch of like surveys and
- 37:12Speaker 6: uh stuff in Arena to kind of get the fans
- 37:15Speaker 6: idea because they wanted them to be really involved in
- 37:17Speaker 6: choosing the name.
- 37:20Speaker 2: I think I think did what was that mountain range
- 37:24Speaker 2: they had that got shot down?
- 37:26Speaker 6: So yeah, the loss ats so they were trying to
- 37:29Speaker 6: find like, uh yeah, because that's like what the mountain
- 37:34Speaker 6: range here is or whatever, like it's like a local thing.
- 37:38Speaker 6: But yeah, I guess that wasn't received the greatest, so
- 37:41Speaker 6: they switched that out. I think it finished being uh
- 37:44Speaker 6: potentially keeping Hockey Club Mammoth, and then I believe Outlaw
- 37:49Speaker 6: was uh the other options. So they were doing kind
- 37:52Speaker 6: of surveys around that and I haven't really heard anything Mammoth.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Yeah, which of those three do?
- 37:57Speaker 1: Is?
- 37:57Speaker 2: Like, have you heard like the consensus in the room
- 38:01Speaker 2: and like yourself, don't dot freak kind of six out
- 38:04Speaker 2: for you?
- 38:05Speaker 6: It's honestly even split, And yeah, I don't. I don't know.
- 38:11Speaker 6: I'm gonna guys have honestly been kind of all over
- 38:15Speaker 6: the place. There hasn't really been a consensus. Number one.
- 38:19Speaker 1: What you can give it rinswer, I know.
- 38:28Speaker 6: This is my second. You guys said we were playing
- 38:30Speaker 6: easy here. I've given you two no comments.
- 38:33Speaker 1: I know this is why Laws.
- 38:41Speaker 2: You could say hockey club, which.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Is the worst one that's that sounds like an English
- 38:46Speaker 1: Premier league, go with Mammoth is good?
- 38:47Speaker 2: Or Outlaws other one? Fun I baited him in. I
- 38:50Speaker 2: said it's going to be really easy, and then we're
- 38:51Speaker 2: asking name Jesus.
- 38:53Speaker 1: OK, how about this parent? The County spent two seasons
- 38:55Speaker 1: playing at moulderin of course the campus State University, very
- 38:59Speaker 1: unique building to plan. What was that like?
- 39:02Speaker 6: Yeah, that uh obviously like so unique. I think from
- 39:08Speaker 6: like a fan's perspective, it would have been unreal. Like
- 39:11Speaker 6: my parents came to some games and they loved it.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Like there's no.
- 39:16Speaker 6: I mean no other venue that you get an experience
- 39:18Speaker 6: like that as a fan. As a player, it was
- 39:23Speaker 6: obviously different, like it's not what all the other arenas are.
- 39:29Speaker 6: But I think like when you're in it, like I
- 39:32Speaker 6: think I the first year I played every game there,
- 39:36Speaker 6: it wasn't until my second year when I got hurt
- 39:38Speaker 6: that you kind of get the different perspective and kind
- 39:40Speaker 6: of realize, like how much smaller it is, Like when
- 39:44Speaker 6: you're playing the roof was kind of low, dark, like
- 39:47Speaker 6: it didn't really feel as small. I think obviously other
- 39:51Speaker 6: teams would have a definitely different perspective on it, but yeah,
- 39:56Speaker 6: I think like when you were in it, you didn't
- 39:58Speaker 6: really think too much of it. It was just kind
- 39:59Speaker 6: of what you were what we were in.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it was such a great fan experien and so
- 40:04Speaker 2: I think for the players. It's like, you guys made
- 40:06Speaker 2: the best of it. I know a lot of road
- 40:08Speaker 2: teams are kind of like, oh god, but you know
- 40:11Speaker 2: when I asked after the games, guys like, yeah, it's
- 40:15Speaker 2: you know, it's kind of a little bit of a
- 40:16Speaker 2: hassle to get here, but like playing the game was
- 40:18Speaker 2: pretty cool. The fans are right on top of you.
- 40:20Speaker 2: But you know, I want to more talk about. Lastly,
- 40:23Speaker 2: kind of one of your teammates, you know, Clayton Keller.
- 40:26Speaker 2: He's you know, in my eyes, very underrated in the league.
- 40:29Speaker 2: But you've been living with him, he's kind of you
- 40:31Speaker 2: guys have kind of grown together and I feel like,
- 40:34Speaker 2: really work well together as as buddies as teammates. So
- 40:38Speaker 2: just talk a little bit of like what it means
- 40:40Speaker 2: to kind of have been living with him and also
- 40:43Speaker 2: learning from him and just like him not getting the
- 40:46Speaker 2: recognition he deserves.
- 40:48Speaker 6: Yeah, he's so underrated, Like he's he's an unbelievable player,
- 40:54Speaker 6: but yeah, just speaking to kind of us living together
- 40:56Speaker 6: and being buddies and stuff. He's a guy I definitely
- 40:59Speaker 6: looked up to coming into the league, and he's also
- 41:02Speaker 6: just like underrated with how much he puts into the game.
- 41:05Speaker 6: I think we all joke around, mess around with stuff,
- 41:09Speaker 6: but at the end of the day, like he does
- 41:10Speaker 6: literally everything he can to be the best, and obviously
- 41:15Speaker 6: what he does on the skill side of the game
- 41:18Speaker 6: and all that and studying other players, and yeah, he's
- 41:22Speaker 6: also just so smart, like he knows knows everything. We'll
- 41:26Speaker 6: get into it sometimes over things, but he sees the
- 41:30Speaker 6: ice so well. He's so smart, so elusive. Yeah, I
- 41:34Speaker 6: mean he's so underrated.
- 41:37Speaker 2: What's kind of something that he does? You know, you
- 41:39Speaker 2: guys play together a lot and just talking on the bench.
- 41:42Speaker 2: What's kind of one thing that he enjoys, you know,
- 41:46Speaker 2: like if you have a spot that he wants you
- 41:48Speaker 2: to go to, is it typically like his release point
- 41:52Speaker 2: or something like that, that that he'll be like, hey, man,
- 41:55Speaker 2: like if you're in trouble, this is where we go.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Like is it a lot of that conversation or is
- 41:58Speaker 2: it more kind of looking at the iPad saying this
- 42:01Speaker 2: is where we missed or is it really in the
- 42:02Speaker 2: moment saying like hey, this is our release points, is
- 42:05Speaker 2: where we need to go and all that. So it's
- 42:07Speaker 2: like kind of second nature.
- 42:09Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it's definitely a big like chemistry aspect
- 42:13Speaker 6: with him, and you've seen that with him and Schmalty
- 42:16Speaker 6: for for the last couple of years, and I think,
- 42:20Speaker 6: like they're so good at kind of getting that flow
- 42:24Speaker 6: and playing off each other and stuff that kind of
- 42:28Speaker 6: those release points there. Teams are so good now that
- 42:31Speaker 6: when you get pressured and if there's any scrums or
- 42:34Speaker 6: anything like that, you're pretty much dead. So just keeping
- 42:36Speaker 6: the puck move and finding those release points. And yeah,
- 42:41Speaker 6: like I mean, we're all super competitive, so whether it's
- 42:44Speaker 6: in the moment, stuff on the iPad, talking after the game,
- 42:46Speaker 6: it's always kind of a work in progress. And yeah,
- 42:51Speaker 6: I mean I'm trying to think of kind of a
- 42:53Speaker 6: specific thing, but for the most part, it's just kind
- 42:57Speaker 6: of working off each other.
- 42:58Speaker 3: And yeah, well we put it to the test. Go ahead, Well,
- 43:05Speaker 3: hang on, I gotta you gotta give me. You're gonna
- 43:08Speaker 3: give me one.
- 43:08Speaker 2: And it's gonna be why the nickname gummy Bear because
- 43:12Speaker 2: that's his nickname. Nice on the team, and and it's
- 43:15Speaker 2: because you're taking it. Well, if you tell him why
- 43:17Speaker 2: gummy Bear, I think.
- 43:18Speaker 1: We'll lay it on me.
- 43:19Speaker 6: What were you gonna say? You can't you can't hold no,
- 43:23Speaker 6: my my, what I.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Heard was because you go to the net and take
- 43:26Speaker 2: an absolute ship kicking. No, no, you got bad info,
- 43:32Speaker 2: give it to me.
- 43:35Speaker 6: I don't honestly like the whole no no no no
- 43:39Speaker 6: no no no, like the whole backstory, like I don't
- 43:42Speaker 6: know hell like Kel's got on it, but it's ultimately
- 43:46Speaker 6: from Jay Swish like Jordan Schmaltz. He and I played
- 43:50Speaker 6: together in Tucson for a little bit and we're like
- 43:54Speaker 6: roommates for a bit and stuff like that. And I
- 43:58Speaker 6: didn't even like hear it until he and Kells must
- 44:02Speaker 6: have been texting or something and Joe Carden said that
- 44:05Speaker 6: to Kells, and Kels is like, who are you talking about?
- 44:07Speaker 6: And explained it. So then Kells the next day, you know,
- 44:10Speaker 6: it was going around saying it. So now now it's
- 44:12Speaker 6: stuck pretty good.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I think a great nickname.
- 44:18Speaker 2: I think it's a great nickname.
- 44:20Speaker 1: The Yeah, uh, Barrett, it was a great chat with you, man, honest,
- 44:25Speaker 1: You've had a great here with you. Tom. We'll keep
- 44:26Speaker 1: it going. And obviously the fact that you you live
- 44:28Speaker 1: with JD and live to tell the tale, it speaks
- 44:30Speaker 1: volumes about your character. Congrats, buddy, Yeah, thank you guys.
- 44:33Speaker 6: I appreciate it mm.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Hmm, all right, Tom Nafolotle Centophile in six he hadn't
- 44:43Speaker 1: been the movie theaters in a walkle because I'm so
- 44:44Speaker 1: lucky to get all these screeners sent to me. But
- 44:45Speaker 1: I said, I've gotta go support my man Bob de Niro.
- 44:47Speaker 1: And he's got a new movie called The Alto Nights,
- 44:49Speaker 1: which came in a couple of weeks ago, and it's
- 44:51Speaker 1: already not playing in theaters, and it's forty percent rotten
- 44:54Speaker 1: tomatoes and so not good. I gotta get in right now.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Barry Levinson's a director. He directed Bugsy, a great mob movie,
- 44:58Speaker 1: and Nick Pledgie wrote the script. Nick Pleedgie wrote Wise Guy,
- 45:02Speaker 1: upon which Good Fellows was based. He wrote that script
- 45:04Speaker 1: score says later wrote, Casino wrote that with Marty as well.
- 45:07Speaker 1: And so you already know this going in JD. You're like, well,
- 45:08Speaker 1: the reviews have not been good, so clearly this is
- 45:11Speaker 1: great people just training on their fame and mailing it in.
- 45:14Speaker 1: And that's exactly what happened to The Alto Night's two
- 45:16Speaker 1: hour film, which is pretty disposable. Danio is playing two
- 45:19Speaker 1: roles in it. Now their characters picklarly memorable and really
- 45:21Speaker 1: the fault lies a pledge. It's not particularly engaging strips.
- 45:23Speaker 1: It's about Frank Costello. But you know, I like these
- 45:25Speaker 1: mob stories. As you mentioned, Kill the Irishman, Great mob movie.
- 45:28Speaker 1: The more interesting part for you is this. When I
- 45:30Speaker 1: got there, there wasn't many seats in the theater, and
- 45:32Speaker 1: so there was like two on one and two on.
- 45:35Speaker 1: There's two in the middle that are open. I like, go, okay,
- 45:36Speaker 1: one person be sitting next to you. I going by myself, obviously,
- 45:38Speaker 1: I get my milk duds eighteen bucks and I go
- 45:41Speaker 1: see a movie six seventy five for a pack of milk.
- 45:43Speaker 1: That's is insane. But the guy sitting in my seat
- 45:45Speaker 1: and I walk in, I goes yeah, and I go
- 45:47Speaker 1: and the trailers already played. I don't like to watch
- 45:49Speaker 1: the trailers. I like to get there just of the
- 45:50Speaker 1: movie starting. So the trailers are and I go yeah.
- 45:52Speaker 1: I go no, no, because it's that's egregious. Twenty five
- 45:54Speaker 1: minutes of trailers is insane. I way too long. None.
- 45:57Speaker 2: I live for trailers.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Six fifteen movie. I'm like, no, six thirty, Like, I'll
- 46:01Speaker 1: watch one show. Anyways. I see the guy, I'm like,
- 46:02Speaker 1: you're in my seat. He goes, I'll see for me, Isaac,
- 46:05Speaker 1: but the one seat is still open. She's kind of
- 46:07Speaker 1: like motions like once you just sit there. I'm like, well,
- 46:09Speaker 1: I want you to sit in your correct seat. I'll
- 46:11Speaker 1: sit in my proper seat and I'll have an extra
- 46:12Speaker 1: seat next. But so now you're taking like rather than
- 46:14Speaker 1: having one arm rest right now, I'm like, I'm sandwich
- 46:16Speaker 1: and I'm like, okay, well whatever, I have a re
- 46:18Speaker 1: client seat. It's all good. We watched the movie and
- 46:21Speaker 1: he's a loud eater, like he's he's crushing that popcorn
- 46:24Speaker 1: and normally like I'm in the mat Na's no one's there.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I see movies by myself. I'm like the only guy
- 46:27Speaker 1: in the theater. But I've never been like next to
- 46:29Speaker 1: two people who are I'm not friends with. And the
- 46:31Speaker 1: one she's okay, she's quietly munched away and I've got
- 46:33Speaker 1: my Dutch. Let's got crushing that corn. Is the movie ends. Uh,
- 46:37Speaker 1: he turns to me, what'd you think I went very good?
- 46:39Speaker 1: Gauess yea, I was't very good? Yeah, because he goes,
- 46:41Speaker 1: do they just need the money? Like just Dani and Levinson,
- 46:44Speaker 1: Like yeah, you know, they're all really famous guys and
- 46:45Speaker 1: they're just painting off their fame and everyone knows guys
- 46:47Speaker 1: like me and you will go see it. He's like, oh, yeah,
- 46:49Speaker 1: from the writer of Good Fellows. And then the movie
- 46:50Speaker 1: stinks and he's like yeah, and he goes, this is
- 46:53Speaker 1: the weirdest part to me. I too the other lady.
- 46:55Speaker 1: I go, what do you think was She goes, oh,
- 46:56Speaker 1: that's pretty good. Ago you know what she's talking about.
- 46:58Speaker 1: It wasn't very good, she lays it. I turned back
- 47:00Speaker 1: to the guy.
- 47:00Speaker 2: I got this.
- 47:01Speaker 1: The story was a very engaging We've seen better mob movies,
- 47:03Speaker 1: Like what really is the point of the story is?
- 47:04Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 47:04Speaker 1: Then he he sticks in his hand and because I'm Daniel,
- 47:08Speaker 1: and I'm like, this is so bizarrely, why are you
- 47:10Speaker 1: introducing yourself to me? We sat next to the moving here,
- 47:12Speaker 1: we're not friends, We're gonna remember each other again. Why
- 47:14Speaker 1: would you Because I'm Daniel. So I go, okay, I'm
- 47:15Speaker 1: gonna say a Frank and I go, I'm Frank. I think.
- 47:17Speaker 1: He goes, Frank, Frank, good to meet check. Thanks you guess,
- 47:21Speaker 1: he says, Frank, because I knew you're either Jewish or Italian,
- 47:29Speaker 1: and said time. Because I knew it. I knew it.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Tell as a Jew. I've gotten Italian before, I've never
- 47:36Speaker 1: gotten jew before. This is this is the first time, buddy,
- 47:38Speaker 1: and you're gonna.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Be proud of congratulations, welcome.
- 47:40Speaker 4: Maybe perhaps a Sephardic Jew.
- 47:43Speaker 2: I guess I get Jewish all the time.
- 47:48Speaker 1: People always think you're a Jew.
- 47:49Speaker 2: At what point you did think you're a Jew? At
- 47:51Speaker 2: one point I did, so there is a basis there
- 47:54Speaker 2: for it. But uh yeah, they just already thinks of
- 47:57Speaker 2: a Jew. Yeah, I just you know. The thing I
- 47:59Speaker 2: love is when you put just an absolutely egregious comment
- 48:02Speaker 2: of something you do in your monologu and then I
- 48:05Speaker 2: can't jump in and pile on you, like you don't
- 48:08Speaker 2: like trailers, And it's just I'm just on tilt right
- 48:11Speaker 2: now that you don't like trailers. But I can't say anything, Okay,
- 48:14Speaker 2: I gotta like because they gotta let you goest in
- 48:16Speaker 2: a file and sixty. So I have to sit here
- 48:17Speaker 2: and be like this son of a bitch.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Just how about this in a vacuum? I like trailers,
- 48:21Speaker 1: if right? And he said, like last night step to
- 48:23Speaker 1: one thirty, the more watching heat because to support Valcam
- 48:25Speaker 1: I do together. So if you just said me, you
- 48:27Speaker 1: want to watch a trailer to heat, Like, of course,
- 48:28Speaker 1: it's a great til, it's a great movie. But I'm
- 48:30Speaker 1: saying there's too many trailers, too much time before the
- 48:32Speaker 1: actual movie. That's my main contention. If you told me
- 48:34Speaker 1: two trailers movie starts, I'm in. But it's twenty five minutes.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Jad it's six trailers.
- 48:39Speaker 2: I sit on YouTube and watch like the twenty twenty
- 48:42Speaker 2: five upcoming movies. It's like a two hour video, and
- 48:45Speaker 2: I'll watch very pro trailer. Okay, wow, you're on all trailers. Yeah,
- 48:48Speaker 2: I could, because nowadays they just show the movie in
- 48:50Speaker 2: a trailer. So I've seen. I've seen ten million movies.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Tell worre you on a trailers. When I was younger,
- 48:55Speaker 1: I was like JD. If I was eighteen, I could
- 48:57Speaker 1: do what he was doing. Now I couldn't care less.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Back in the day, I watch a lot of trailers.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Now, guys too artsy, big trailer fan. I enjoy them.
- 49:04Speaker 4: I do think there's too many, though.
- 49:05Speaker 5: I definitely get to a point where I feel like
- 49:09Speaker 5: the movie's about to start. If I'm in an AMC,
- 49:11Speaker 5: I'm ready for Nicole Kidman to come out and give
- 49:13Speaker 5: her whole spiel before the movies at a m every
- 49:17Speaker 5: time she's there, and then they but then there'll be
- 49:19Speaker 5: another trailer, and.
- 49:20Speaker 4: I'm going, I, okay, but I'm ready to watch the
- 49:24Speaker 4: movie now. I like trailers.
- 49:26Speaker 5: I'd rather watch them on on my phone or something
- 49:28Speaker 5: like that to pass the time. Like like JD said,
- 49:31Speaker 5: a lot of these films they put pretty much the
- 49:33Speaker 5: whole movie in the trailer.
- 49:34Speaker 4: So yeah, it's a fun, funny, fun experience.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Question for both of you. How many times have you
- 49:39Speaker 2: watched the Honora trailer? You six sons you never saw?
- 49:42Speaker 1: Because again, if I know I want to see the movie,
- 49:44Speaker 1: I don't watch the trailer.
- 49:45Speaker 2: I'll give you. Okay.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Nice like Paul Thomas a new movie. He's one of
- 49:48Speaker 1: my favorite directors. Literally, DiCaprio was in the movie. The
- 49:50Speaker 1: trailers released last week. I go, I'm not gonna watch
- 49:52Speaker 1: you nuts like I'm watching the movie. It's coming out
- 49:54Speaker 1: in August. I'm in. I get September twenty sixth.
- 49:56Speaker 4: Whever, Well, that's the trailer is pretty good. I will
- 49:58Speaker 4: say that's it's pretty good.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Trailer called what's the title. It's Paul Thomas Anderson's new film.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Letter to the for Shan Pensen it as well. We'll
- 50:06Speaker 1: get the title on the second here, but yeah, I
- 50:08Speaker 1: don't even Another example is the Brutalist. All I heard
- 50:11Speaker 1: was Oscar contender Adrian Brody got good. I didn't ever
- 50:14Speaker 1: watched the trailer. I was like, if I'm into the movie,
- 50:16Speaker 1: I don't want see trail because it's gonapoil it for me.
- 50:18Speaker 1: One battle after Another's new Paul Thomas Anderson movie. It's
- 50:20Speaker 1: coming out later this year.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Okay, cool, awesome, sweet, all.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Right, let's talk because you were there for a vettion,
- 50:25Speaker 1: not the actual goal rerecord. We were there at washing
- 50:27Speaker 1: him prior to And how about this celebration now, Budweiser
- 50:30Speaker 1: Canada especially can of beer to the twenty eight goalies
- 50:32Speaker 1: who didn't allow any of Obie's eight hundred and ninety
- 50:35Speaker 1: five career goals. The beers were labeled zero of eight
- 50:38Speaker 1: ninety five and featured a tag them that read the
- 50:40Speaker 1: greatest goal score of all time. Couldn't score on these
- 50:42Speaker 1: kings of zero. When former NHL goalie Eddie Lack heard
- 50:46Speaker 1: about this special beer, came went on Twitter and said,
- 50:48Speaker 1: this is bullshit. If I knew there was beers involved,
- 50:50Speaker 1: I would have tried harder.
- 50:53Speaker 2: Eddie lack Lackhers your boy. Lacker's funny. He's got a
- 50:57Speaker 2: good little We should get him on. He's a good
- 50:59Speaker 2: he's got a good little sense of humor for the
- 51:01Speaker 2: for the league, real estate agent, extraordinary and nice in
- 51:04Speaker 2: Arizona now as well. Yeah, but that's funny. I saw
- 51:07Speaker 2: the Curtis Joseph had the beer and everything. That was cool.
- 51:09Speaker 2: So it's a funny little It's a funny little I
- 51:12Speaker 2: mean add on to the whole celebration I think is
- 51:15Speaker 2: cool as the goals that weren't scored on.
- 51:16Speaker 1: But yeah, but what about the fact that if you
- 51:18Speaker 1: want a hard ticket. Thomas Hickey was a part of
- 51:20Speaker 1: our broadcast in Winnipeg, went just as a fan. He
- 51:23Speaker 1: just wanted to go see a Metica the record He
- 51:24Speaker 1: did and left immediately after. Made the plan all good afterwards.
- 51:27Speaker 1: A tech ticket if there's a store, if you want
- 51:29Speaker 1: the hard copy of the ticket, everyone used to get
- 51:30Speaker 1: that for free. It's forty five dollars. That is absolute surdity.
- 51:34Speaker 1: If you went to that game. Jason de Murz and this,
- 51:36Speaker 1: I want I want to I want to keep sick.
- 51:38Speaker 1: How he's forty five dollars for a stub. That's ridiculous.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but we could have got a press pass and
- 51:43Speaker 2: then sold that press pass on eBay. Yes, it's not
- 51:48Speaker 2: about that hard copy press pass. Ad Nan Verk the Jew.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Me and Rosenbaum, I love it. Fantastic. H We do
- 51:58Speaker 1: end on some sad news here, which you pass along
- 52:00Speaker 1: to me first over text. I couldn't believe it. Long
- 52:02Speaker 1: time NHL executive race here passing with the age of
- 52:06Speaker 1: sixty two. He was the GM of the Penguins, so
- 52:08Speaker 1: they won the Cup in nine. He was a gym
- 52:09Speaker 1: of the Devil's, recently working as a senior advisor in Minnesota.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Wild gym Bill Garon, who was a player on that
- 52:14Speaker 1: Penguins team, said Angel Chemistery Garry, Bevan Ray Shierro smile
- 52:17Speaker 1: and personality lit up every room he walked into him
- 52:20Speaker 1: bright in the day of everyone he met. Of course
- 52:22Speaker 1: Fred Schierld, the great Flyers coach's dad. Very sad news
- 52:25Speaker 1: and very unexpected her.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Yeah, everything I've heard. I never met him personally, but
- 52:30Speaker 2: everything I heard from guys, he was just a fantastic
- 52:32Speaker 2: human being. I know Verne Fiddler when he was in
- 52:36Speaker 2: Jersey for one of his last years, they basically like
- 52:40Speaker 2: let him go home on days off and they'd fly
- 52:42Speaker 2: him home to see his family because he was living
- 52:44Speaker 2: without his family and kids, and that was all Ray
- 52:47Speaker 2: doing that. So I mean, there's just so many stories
- 52:49Speaker 2: of him just being a gracious, amazing human being. So,
- 52:53Speaker 2: you know, sad, it's a sad day. It's been a
- 52:55Speaker 2: tough year in hockey with a lot of hockey losses.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Greg Millan also passing away in London, which is stunning news.
- 53:00Speaker 1: There's a long time.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Goalie I know, and like quickly too, like you know Ray,
- 53:04Speaker 2: it was it was quick as well. So it's just
- 53:07Speaker 2: it's been a tough year in hockey in terms of
- 53:09Speaker 2: some really really notable passings and some sad, sad days.
- 53:12Speaker 2: So you know, hearts go out to the family and yeah, man,
- 53:17Speaker 2: he's just everything I've heard. He's just an amazing human being.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Definitely our thoughts and prayers. Quay, it's the Shiro family
- 53:22Speaker 1: has some tough news there, and real quick, I just
- 53:24Speaker 1: want to mention this because I think your perspective will
- 53:26Speaker 1: help on this. Just keep talking about Peter Laviolette and
- 53:29Speaker 1: what he said after they lost the Tampa the other day.
- 53:32Speaker 2: He said, I don't have a message right now. I
- 53:33Speaker 2: don't go into the locker room after the game show.
- 53:35Speaker 1: And people were criticizing is he trying to get the
- 53:37Speaker 1: to lot of treatments? He's trying to get fired. And
- 53:39Speaker 1: you can tell me as a long time player, the
- 53:41Speaker 1: coaches don't always go in the room after the game.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Is that true?
- 53:43Speaker 2: Majority don't go after a loss. So that was something.
- 53:46Speaker 2: I think he just voiced it, and I think, you know,
- 53:49Speaker 2: media will run with it. I don't think there was
- 53:51Speaker 2: much to it. I initially my reaction was like what,
- 53:53Speaker 2: but then yeah, most guys don't go and I don't
- 53:55Speaker 2: think he's ever gone in the room, Lavvy He's never
- 53:58Speaker 2: somebody that goes in the room. So so yeah, so
- 54:00Speaker 2: I don't think it's much to it. I mean, the
- 54:03Speaker 2: mess that is New York is more to talk about
- 54:05Speaker 2: than Lavin not going in the room. So that whole
- 54:07Speaker 2: coaching staff is a lot more to worry about. It's
- 54:09Speaker 2: a shitty situation there top the bottom.
- 54:12Speaker 1: If indeed the Rangers don't make the playoffs, and see
- 54:14Speaker 1: what changes they could be making with the gards, that
- 54:16Speaker 1: lobby lot and the rest of that stuff. Again, thanks
- 54:18Speaker 1: to Baron Hayten, thanks to Jason Demerson, Thanks to tal Ponchowski.
