Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: My name is Adam Tamiko.
- 0:01Speaker 2: I play guitar and Lorna Shore and we are coming
- 0:04Speaker 2: back to play Good Things Festival.
- 0:07Speaker 3: That you are in. Dave Man, thanks for joining us today.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Adam, Thank you for having me. Thank you for having me.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Lendius, So there's a fambit doubt. I'm mid Lorna show
- 0:14Speaker 3: at the moment.
- 0:15Speaker 4: But we'll start with the fact that you're returning to
- 0:17Speaker 4: Austria for the second time this year in December. Is
- 0:19Speaker 4: part of the Good Thing Is twenty twenty five line
- 0:21Speaker 4: up which kids talk on December the fifth before moving
- 0:24Speaker 4: through Sydney and Bridge Lavy consecutive days.
- 0:26Speaker 3: But it's a pretty quick turn around between visits. Might
- 0:28Speaker 3: have you even had time to unpacked from the last one.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Yet, Uh, thankfully I've had time to unpack for the
- 0:33Speaker 2: last one because we've had so many, so many other
- 0:35Speaker 2: things coming on. But I'm about to pack soon to
- 0:38Speaker 2: go on tour in the States, so I'm constantly unpacking
- 0:41Speaker 2: and packing.
- 0:42Speaker 1: It's it's just the nature of all this. But uh, yeah, no,
- 0:45Speaker 1: we have it.
- 0:45Speaker 2: We have This is our first time this year to
- 0:49Speaker 2: finally make our way over there, and now we're just like,
- 0:51Speaker 2: let's just keep going as office as we can.
- 0:52Speaker 1: At this point, it seems like.
- 0:54Speaker 3: It might have well strike while the iron's hot.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly exactly.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Then that was your first like Jorvis dryer, and it
- 1:01Speaker 4: sawed out in something like ten days. Like, did you
- 1:03Speaker 4: realize before that trip just how big of a fan
- 1:05Speaker 4: bites you had?
- 1:06Speaker 3: I've reread No.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I mean, because you know what it is, people say,
- 1:09Speaker 2: come to this place, and then you go to that
- 1:11Speaker 2: place and then nobody shows up and then we finally go.
- 1:15Speaker 2: So then it was just kind of crazy that, like
- 1:17Speaker 2: everyone said, when you guys come in to Australia, and
- 1:19Speaker 2: we finally come to Australia, it does sell out. So
- 1:21Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, maybe there's more people than we thought,
- 1:23Speaker 2: because you know, it's very easy to comment and say,
- 1:25Speaker 2: you guys never come to Australia and then uh and
- 1:27Speaker 2: no one shows up. But everyone seemed to show up
- 1:30Speaker 2: and sold out these shows really quickly, which was really awesome.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And made wanted to come back a lot easier.
- 1:38Speaker 4: How was the experience for you guys, Like you played
- 1:39Speaker 4: all over the world but had alls the crowds stand
- 1:42Speaker 4: up to pay for everywhere else.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's very I think a lot of
- 1:46Speaker 2: crowds are very similar to each other. And not to
- 1:48Speaker 2: say that anyone, no one's you know, no one's special
- 1:50Speaker 2: and no one's unique, but I feel like it just
- 1:52Speaker 2: felt like the thing. I will say, it just felt
- 1:55Speaker 2: like we've been there a bunch, so it kind of
- 1:56Speaker 2: felt like home in a sense.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Is the way.
- 1:58Speaker 2: The best way I've described it is it didn't feel
- 2:01Speaker 2: awkward and weird, because like when you first go play
- 2:03Speaker 2: a place you've never been to, you're like kind of
- 2:06Speaker 2: testing out the water. That's kind of how it was
- 2:07Speaker 2: when we went to like Europe and First Target first
- 2:09Speaker 2: started touring the States that it kind of took a
- 2:11Speaker 2: while to kind of like in some places, get your
- 2:13Speaker 2: get your ground and get and get that fan base
- 2:15Speaker 2: and people being into your band. But uh, you know,
- 2:18Speaker 2: if it did not feel like it was our first
- 2:21Speaker 2: time playing Australia, it felt like we've already had a
- 2:23Speaker 2: loyal fan base. Everyone was really into the band already.
- 2:25Speaker 2: We didn't have to like convince people that were a
- 2:27Speaker 2: band and you should like the band, So it felt
- 2:29Speaker 2: like home. So it was kind of nice. I'll I'll
- 2:32Speaker 2: say that's a that's a different thing. We didn't have
- 2:34Speaker 2: to convince people for years that you should like our band.
- 2:37Speaker 1: So it kind of came. It came a little early on,
- 2:39Speaker 1: so it was nice. It was nice.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Now good Things as a massive line out there is yourselves, Tool,
- 2:44Speaker 4: Garbage Ways on, Knockleades, Machine had Refused, plus a stack
- 2:48Speaker 4: of others.
- 2:48Speaker 3: But you might s looking forward to playing with and
- 2:50Speaker 3: hanging out with.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I always love seeing knock Loose on a lineup just because, uh,
- 2:55Speaker 2: we always seem to like be touring on an album
- 2:58Speaker 2: at different times, So that's a a band that I
- 3:01Speaker 2: anytime that we are on a festival or play a
- 3:03Speaker 2: show with them, I always love to go see them
- 3:05Speaker 2: because I just think they're they're they're a great band,
- 3:07Speaker 2: and uh, I just love watching them. But uh, definitely
- 3:09Speaker 2: seeing Weezer because like I never thought Laura Shore and
- 3:11Speaker 2: Weezer will be on the same lineup, so that like
- 3:14Speaker 2: so more like childhood teenage me would be excited about that.
- 3:17Speaker 2: So those are the two bands I'm definitely looking forward
- 3:19Speaker 2: to seeing.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Yeah along those lines, But I like it's a very
- 3:23Speaker 4: diverse line up. It comes everything from soft rock to
- 3:25Speaker 4: put to metal to pop punk. Line you're a fan
- 3:28Speaker 4: of festivals, with lots of different genres of music, or
- 3:30Speaker 4: do you prefer ones that they got some sort of
- 3:31Speaker 4: common thread.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I like both because sometimes we've played festivals that are
- 3:36Speaker 2: just like a metal festival and all, and like all
- 3:39Speaker 2: great bands are on a festival, so you could see
- 3:41Speaker 2: them all one day. But sometimes it's nice because like
- 3:43Speaker 2: I do come from a diverse uh background of different music,
- 3:47Speaker 2: so it's cool to be like able to see different
- 3:49Speaker 2: bands and also U bands that were not meant to
- 3:53Speaker 2: be on the same stage with like play, so it's
- 3:55Speaker 2: it's kind of cool.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I like the mixture of both. I feel like it
- 3:58Speaker 1: allows I think.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I think everyone kind of comes from different diverse backgrounds
- 4:02Speaker 2: and and like different styles of music or grew up
- 4:04Speaker 2: likeking different styles of music. So it's just nice to
- 4:06Speaker 2: be in a place where, you know, I love festivals
- 4:08Speaker 2: where we can you'll play with like a legacy band
- 4:11Speaker 2: uh or and then added then also play with the
- 4:13Speaker 2: band that like you liked when you're a teenager, and
- 4:15Speaker 2: then like also simultaneously play you know a band later
- 4:19Speaker 2: that day is a band that you're currently listening to.
- 4:21Speaker 2: So I kind of like that because I feel like
- 4:22Speaker 2: you got you gotta like the pick of the litter,
- 4:24Speaker 2: if you will, So I do like it.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But I also do like when.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Sometimes there is a direct, straightforward festival because they could
- 4:30Speaker 2: just see all the bands in that world at once.
- 4:32Speaker 2: So it's kind of nice as well, but again a
- 4:34Speaker 2: diverse one. I feel like we lean as a band
- 4:36Speaker 2: we definitely like more of because we all come from
- 4:38Speaker 2: different backgrounds and we all like different styles of music
- 4:40Speaker 2: and that kind of plays into that.
- 4:42Speaker 4: I think it's really cool looking at the post and
- 4:44Speaker 4: so like, I'm pretty sure you guys are the only
- 4:45Speaker 4: band name on the post so that you can't read perfect.
- 4:49Speaker 1: We're used to that. We used to that, and we
- 4:51Speaker 1: love that.
- 4:51Speaker 2: We're used to that, so it's it's it's not weird
- 4:54Speaker 2: for us.
- 4:57Speaker 4: For the benefit of those who might not have seen
- 4:59Speaker 4: Launch show before. My life run a S certificate live show,
- 5:01Speaker 4: and what do we expect?
- 5:03Speaker 2: I mean, the what we try to do is just
- 5:06Speaker 2: try to perform our songs as best as we possibly can.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I mean, the best compliment I've ever received is that
- 5:11Speaker 2: we sound better than the record, and I will take
- 5:14Speaker 2: that wholeheartedly, and I think that is the best compliment
- 5:16Speaker 2: to receive because the record itself is really hard and
- 5:19Speaker 2: challenging to perform in the studio, so let alone performing
- 5:22Speaker 2: a live and not having all the.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Luxuries of the studio.
- 5:25Speaker 2: It was really nice, but I expect, like I don't know,
- 5:28Speaker 2: if you're familiar with the songs, you're gonna hear the
- 5:30Speaker 2: songs performed by the band, and I just hope the
- 5:34Speaker 2: energy carries its way through it. I don't know I've
- 5:37Speaker 2: ever seen the band live, so what I put on
- 5:42Speaker 2: as far as performance is doing the record justice and
- 5:46Speaker 2: making an entertaining live show, and hopefully people will walk
- 5:49Speaker 2: away feeling better about the band. That's kind of what
- 5:52Speaker 2: I hope for. And yeah, I mean, that's that's my
- 5:54Speaker 2: goal every day at least nice.
- 5:57Speaker 4: One of the things about festivals is e comic of
- 6:00Speaker 4: spans the otherwise probably never would hear before. So just
- 6:02Speaker 4: say someone's come along to good things and they know
- 6:04Speaker 4: nothing about law on the show, Like what three songs
- 6:07Speaker 4: of yours should they listen to you in order to
- 6:09Speaker 4: get engaged in what to expect.
- 6:11Speaker 1: With three songs?
- 6:12Speaker 2: Normally I would say just listen to payin the remains one, two,
- 6:15Speaker 2: and three, But I think that with a different album cycle,
- 6:18Speaker 2: I would say I would say listen to Unbreakable, Prison
- 6:21Speaker 2: of Flesh, and Oblivion. I feel like the those are
- 6:23Speaker 2: the three songs I feel like give you a diverse
- 6:25Speaker 2: understanding of the band. They all all three of them
- 6:28Speaker 2: do different things and they have strengths that other songs
- 6:31Speaker 2: the other the other ones don't have. So I would
- 6:34Speaker 2: say Oblivion, Unbreakable, and Prison of Flesh are probably the
- 6:37Speaker 2: three to kind of get a good understanding of what
- 6:40Speaker 2: we're gonna be playing live.
- 6:42Speaker 4: And coincidentally, those three songs are all off your new
- 6:44Speaker 4: album They Are May, which comes out on September the twelfth.
- 6:48Speaker 3: But could you come up with a longer album title?
- 6:51Speaker 1: We could, but we'll see it for the next one.
- 6:56Speaker 3: That tells me more about musically, like Ryan and what
- 6:58Speaker 3: you're going for this time around.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I think this time around it like similar to what
- 7:02Speaker 2: I just mentioned before, that the songs are meant to
- 7:04Speaker 2: be diverse from each other and allow them to display
- 7:07Speaker 2: the band in many different lights. That was the that
- 7:11Speaker 2: was the goal. Whether we came up with whether we
- 7:14Speaker 2: accomplished that, that's for you to decide. But for me,
- 7:16Speaker 2: I think me and the rest of the band feel
- 7:18Speaker 2: that we wrote the most diverse record that we can
- 7:21Speaker 2: write and and display ourselves in all different lights that
- 7:24Speaker 2: we didn't think that we could do.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So yeah, I feel like it's.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Just a diverse Lorna Shore record and kind of scratches
- 7:30Speaker 2: all similar ches or not sim which is scratches different
- 7:33Speaker 2: itches while simultaneously still feeling like the band. So yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 2: if there's stuff that you've heard from the band before,
- 7:40Speaker 2: it's probably there's it's we didn't abandon our sound, but
- 7:44Speaker 2: we also added other things to the pot and hopefully
- 7:46Speaker 2: expanding upon it. That's been the whole goal, is just
- 7:48Speaker 2: to expand the sound of the band, as well as
- 7:51Speaker 2: display the band in different lights and show the diversity
- 7:54Speaker 2: of who we are as musicians.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I like to stay single. As you mentioned before,
- 7:58Speaker 3: I'm Oblivia Unbreakable in prisons.
- 8:00Speaker 4: The players are all off that album, So I think
- 8:02Speaker 4: you've got to sonny representation what we expect overall, or
- 8:04Speaker 4: they just scratching the surface.
- 8:06Speaker 2: I think they are good that we chose those songs
- 8:09Speaker 2: because they display a lot of what you hear on
- 8:12Speaker 2: the record, But there is other songs on the record
- 8:14Speaker 2: that aren't displayed in those three songs. But I do
- 8:18Speaker 2: feel like it probably gets the point across a little bit.
- 8:21Speaker 2: It gives you a good understanding of where we're going.
- 8:23Speaker 2: But there is a lot of other songs on the
- 8:25Speaker 2: record that don't sound like those three songs. But I
- 8:28Speaker 2: feel like there's a lot If you are enjoying that
- 8:32Speaker 2: material and you like things from those songs or like
- 8:35Speaker 2: different things from those songs, there probably is other things
- 8:38Speaker 2: to that as well as there might be something that
- 8:40Speaker 2: you're not expecting on the record.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Cool. Now I feel they have a black within Me.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Follows on from your twenty twenty two album Playing Remains,
- 8:46Speaker 4: which is a big success for the band. Made like
- 8:49Speaker 4: was it tempting to rehash that winning formula on this
- 8:51Speaker 4: one or is it important for you to move on musically?
- 8:54Speaker 2: I think it was for sure, Like I don't think
- 8:56Speaker 2: we want to write the same record twice. I think
- 8:59Speaker 2: I think we sat down and kind of was just
- 9:01Speaker 2: like I think we could have done that, and it
- 9:02Speaker 2: was just like every time we were sitting down writing something,
- 9:05Speaker 2: it's like we've kind of already did that, or like
- 9:07Speaker 2: how do we expand upon it? I think the big
- 9:09Speaker 2: biggest thing is expansion, was like how do we do
- 9:12Speaker 2: these things that we already do and and expand upon it.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I always feel like you're kind of just picking up
- 9:17Speaker 2: where you last left off. And uh, yeah, I don't think.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I think it was just trying to add on to
- 9:23Speaker 2: what we already do, or just do what we already do,
- 9:26Speaker 2: just in a better formula, in a better way, and
- 9:29Speaker 2: into some more in a more expressive way than kind
- 9:32Speaker 2: of what we've done before.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Yeah. Cool, And how much the nima cheri over we
- 9:35Speaker 3: going to be hearing the good things?
- 9:37Speaker 1: I think a few songs. I think a few songs.
- 9:40Speaker 3: No, you can not get to elaborate on that. You're
- 9:41Speaker 3: just gonna leave it in that for us.
- 9:43Speaker 2: I think I think, uh, it's more than one, I
- 9:47Speaker 2: tell you, I'll tell you that it's less than it's
- 9:49Speaker 2: less than ten.
- 9:50Speaker 4: So very ambiguous, all right, Roy, Well, thanks very much,
- 9:55Speaker 4: your Tom. It's been a pleasure speaking really a lord
- 9:57Speaker 4: of story here for good things. Yeah, right, line up,
- 9:59Speaker 4: right man into we'll see you, sir.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Thank you for having me.
