- Brandon: Well, good morning, and once again, welcome to the Daily Word Podcast. And ⁓ for me, July 2nd, a brand new month of the Daily Word Podcast. I know that Pastor Robert ⁓ started July yesterday, but for me it's a brand new month. And so ⁓ welcome to July. Can't believe we're already in the month of July. And ⁓ just want to say again, so thankful that you're a part of the Daily Word Podcast. Whether it's your first time listening today or you've been listening For ⁓ the last six months that we've been doing this. ⁓ really hope today, but really the entire podcast has been a blessing to you. ⁓ in case you're just just joining us, the whole reason we do this podcast is twofold. Number one is to provide a daily encouragement from the scripture that hopefully is encouraging you, but it's also ⁓ challenging you and strengthening you and helping you to become more of who God has called you to be and fulfill the call of God that's on your life. ⁓ but but also it's a reminder, it's a daily reminder that God wants to spend time with you in the secret place. ⁓ we believe that the Bible is not just a book, but it's the living, breathing words of God. And the Holy Spirit, as we read the scripture, speaks to us in real time. That the words that we're reading in the scripture, they're actually inspired by God for the days and the moments that we are living in. And so we're praying and believing that every time. ⁓ we open the scripture that God really is speaking to us in a real way. That being said, the Daily Word podcast, we're taking the New Testament reading from the Life Journal reading plan, so the plan that we use as a church, the New Testament portion, and from that New Testament portion, sharing our journal entry, an encouraging word for the day. And so today's reading is the book of Jude. That's right. The entire book of Jude, which is really just one chapter. And so it's not as impressive as it sounds. But the book of Jude today, and I want read to you Jude chapter, well, one only chapter, but Jude 20. And ⁓ here's what it says it says, but you, beloved, building yourself up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Just want to stop right there. That's the scripture today that I want to remind you and encourage you with. It says, But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most Holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. ⁓ I don't know if you've heard this before, but ⁓ I I may have shared it on here. But there's a pastor in ⁓ Hawaii. ⁓ I think he also has ⁓ a a church and a college in Oregon, very influential pastor named Wayne Cordero. And Pastor Wayne Cordero said this years ago. I don't know if it originated from him or he got it from someone, but I've only heard him say it. But but he talks about the 8510 five per ⁓ five principle 85 10 5 and he says that 85% of what you do anybody could do think about that 85% of what you what you do anyone could do that anyone can wash the dishes anyone can take out the trash anyone could you know fill in the blank walk your dog ⁓ 10% of what you do somebody could do 10% of what you do somebody could do but they have to be trained they have to be taught So 85% of what you do, anyone can do, 10% of what you do, somebody could do if you train them, if you taught them, but 5% of what you do, only you can do. And this thought that ⁓ W Wayne Cordero ⁓ teaches, it really is a leadership thought. And he he speaks to leaders and says the key to really being a great leader and maximizing your influence is identifying the 5% that only you can do. And to the best of your ability, teaching and training people to do what somebody else can do, but they need teaching and training to release and delegate things to the 85% that anybody anybody could do. And you focus on your 5%. Now, how does this relate to Jude 20? Well, here's what it says, but you beloved, building yourselves up, building yourselves up. Part of what Wayne Cordero teaches, he is a pastor who's teaching you know l leadership principles to pastors and leaders, but part of what he teaches is that part of everybody's 5%, it is their spiritual life. That part of everybody's five percent, it is their spiritual life, their relationship with God, their mindset, their faith. their purity, their everything to do with your spiritual life, it is part of your 5% that nobody else can do that for you. No one can do it. You can't glean and take and like through osmosis just get get more spiritual, get more mature, have, have more faith, have a more pure heart or mind. No, no, no. You can't get that through osmosis through somebody else. Only you can do that. And here at Jude 20, he says, but you beloved And and in my Bible, I just circled that word you. But you, you, not somebody else, but you, beloved, you building again, circle this word, yourselves. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Now, I'm not gonna focus on the praying in the Holy Spirit part because I really just wanna lean into today this thought that you have to build yourself up in your faith. Our faith is not something that just, you know, we get it and then it just stays forever. It's like, you know, muscle or, you know, ⁓ your your your your your fitness level. I ran a marathon in 2013, I think. What is that? You know, almost thir 13 years ago at this point. And I'll tell you right now, I cannot even come close to running as far or as fast as I ran 13 years ago because I'm not running anymore. your your your endurance, your your physical fitness, it it will decrease, it will dissipate, it will go away if you do not keep on building it up. And in the same way, our spiritual life, our faith, our maturity, our ⁓ focus, our our zeal and passion, all of those things, they have to be built up. You can build it up in one season, but if you just leave it alone and you just kind of don't do anything, all of a sudden it will start to dissipate. And the reality is that as believers, we have to build up and keep building up our faith. We gotta build ourselves up in our faith, in our confidence, in our trust, in our maturity in the things of God. So how do we do that? Well, these sound like, you know, duh, Brandon, I already know that. Like, you know, just you know, talk about something else. But but there's these basic fundamental things that we just can't get away from. ⁓ for for my life, I'm thinking about this. It's daily time in the scripture. You can't get around that there's no man or woman of God of maturity that isn't a student of the word of God. The Bible says meditate on the scripture, memorize it, read it. You have to abide in the word of God. How about prayer? We have to be people who pray. How about worship? I don't just mean attending worship services. I mean, are you lifting your hands at any point when it's just you all by yourself? And you are like calling out to God and saying, God, I worship you and I honor you and I praise you, Lord Jesus. Like we we gotta do that. How about church attendance? Like I'm not saying that just because I'm a pastor, I'm saying that because the Bible says that those who are planted in the house of God they will flourish in the courts of their God. How about being around other believers? Like it's a big deal to be around other believers, not just hanging out talking about sports. But like encouraging each other and challenging each other and talking about the things of God. What about fasting? Taking seasons and moments where we're pushing something away for the purpose of leaning in and drawing closer to God. All of these things are so significant. And they're called Christian disciplines because they really do require discipline. And we have to be disciplined in our faith to say, you know what? It's important that I build myself up in my most holy faith. I got faith in Jesus. I know who he is. And I want to walk as a mature man or woman of God. And that's going to require me to build myself up. And so my observation is that we have the responsibility for ourselves to build up our faith. And my my ⁓ application is that we actually have to do that. We have to discipline our life in a way that we're building ourselves up. And so today, I hope that you're encouraged today. There's no condemnation, there's no guilt. ⁓ we're not about perfection or about progress. We're not about comparing ourselves to somebody else. We're about we ourselves just getting better every day and and becoming more of who God wants us to be every day. And so my encouragement, my prayer for you today is that you would take that encouragement seriously and say, I'm gonna start building myself up. I'm gonna start being intentional like never before to build myself up in my most holy faith. Today, before we close, I wanna pray for you, take just 10 seconds and ⁓ just Bless you today and speak God's word over you. Lord, I thank you for whoever's listening. And I thank you for the call of God that's on their life. God, you have called them. The Bible says that you are the one who has started a good work in them and you will be faithful to bring it to completion. So God, I pray for everyone and anyone who's listening. And in the name of Jesus, I pray that you would encourage them and stir them up. Give them not only the strategy, but the energy to be able to every day build themselves up in their most holy faith. In Jesus' name, amen. Well, thank you once again for listening today, and I can't wait to see you tomorrow on another episode of the Daily Word Podcast.
