- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty and am I leaving money to charity? Dad?
- 0:13Speaker 1: You're not a big fan of charities, are you? Are you?
- 0:16Speaker 1: Is that stick? Or you really don't like charities? You know,
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm not a big fan of charities. I mean, you know,
- 0:23Speaker 1: kids don't eat and I'm okay with that. You know,
- 0:26Speaker 1: there are families who live in tents. Okay, I understand
- 0:30Speaker 1: that there's some very nice tents out there. And now
- 0:34Speaker 1: Handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen. Here's Bill Handle.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Good morning everybody. It is now a Wednesday, Hoday, Wednesday,
- 0:46Speaker 1: October twenty two, and today we have a modified show.
- 0:51Speaker 1: What that mean that some people are here, some people
- 0:54Speaker 1: are gone, some people are not gone and are here.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Very good handle. First of all, Cono, good morning, good morning.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Cono's here as usual, Amy, Hi, Bill, Hi, as usual.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Amy's here, Will good morning, Good morning, Bill, La Dodgers
- 1:16Speaker 1: Garb this morning, of course, of course. Okay, now that
- 1:22Speaker 1: is the end of the regular crowd. Now we have,
- 1:26Speaker 1: as I said, a modified crowd. No, let's go back
- 1:29Speaker 1: to Neil. Neil good morning. Neil has lost his voice.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Neil is going to be. He's actually practicing for a
- 1:40Speaker 1: school play for his son and he's going to be
- 1:43Speaker 1: Helen Keller. So Neil once again, good morning. I'm fine,
- 1:50Speaker 1: thank you, Neil. Yeah, not bad. Another show today, Yeah,
- 1:55Speaker 1: pretty good, Okay, excellent, and Neil, we're going to continue on.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Michelle is in for and today. Good morning, Good morning Michelle,
- 2:06Speaker 1: Michelle the cube me sir, who actually is the executive
- 2:10Speaker 1: producer of this radio station. Yes, I am, and tells
- 2:14Speaker 1: everybody what to do, and no one pays attention. That's true,
- 2:17Speaker 1: That's absolutely true. And Michelle doesn't pay attention to anybody
- 2:20Speaker 1: above her either, because they don't pay attention to anybody
- 2:23Speaker 1: above them. It's a very neat way to run a
- 2:26Speaker 1: radio station. I must tell you. There have been recent
- 2:28Speaker 1: changes that have happened. If you haven't read them, read
- 2:32Speaker 1: it in the media. iHeart, as well as many other
- 2:36Speaker 1: radio stations have gone through a big transformation. The first
- 2:40Speaker 1: one being is no one pays attention to anyone. That is.
- 2:46Speaker 1: That's a good thing. That's a good thing. The rest
- 2:50Speaker 1: of it about the same. You know what they're trying
- 2:51Speaker 1: to do. I mean, as you know, the history of
- 2:54Speaker 1: iHeart is people start at minimum wage, and basically stay
- 2:59Speaker 1: at minimum wage. They're working as hard as they can
- 3:02Speaker 1: to lower minimum wage in the state of California in
- 3:07Speaker 1: terms of media outlets, and they're well on their way
- 3:11Speaker 1: to doing that. All right, fair enough, we have everything here.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Are we going to move on? We are? Oh, before
- 3:16Speaker 1: we do that, Dodgers real quickly, I go to Amy
- 3:20Speaker 1: about the Dodgers. Will, just because you dressed like a Dodger,
- 3:23Speaker 1: doesn't mean you are a Dodger. It's my team. It's
- 3:26Speaker 1: your team. It's not it's not your team. See Will.
- 3:29Speaker 1: You don't own the team. Uh, it's it's yeah, No
- 3:33Speaker 1: it is. I think it's magic Johnson owns part of
- 3:36Speaker 1: the team. Is that true? Part of the Google Hunt group?
- 3:39Speaker 1: And so he can say it's my team. Now when
- 3:42Speaker 1: it's your team, you don't play. You don't pay for
- 3:44Speaker 1: tickets because it's your team. It's like eating at your restaurant.
- 3:48Speaker 1: You don't buy your you don't pay for your food.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Everybody else walks in the door. Oh, this is my restaurant,
- 3:55Speaker 1: Yes it is. Here's the check. Same thing with Amy.
- 3:59Speaker 1: It is hurt team. So Amy, first day of the
- 4:03Speaker 1: World Series, first game is Friday. Friday? All right, Oh, wait,
- 4:08Speaker 1: I just read the Dodgers heavily favored to win.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yes, but I wouldn't count the Blue Jays.
- 4:15Speaker 3: The Blue Jays are a good team, so I'm hoping
- 4:19Speaker 3: it's going to be a great series.
- 4:20Speaker 2: But of course that the Dodgers come out on top.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Of the interestings it gives you have Dodger blue and
- 4:25Speaker 1: you have Blue Jays. Can you conflate the two? Are
- 4:28Speaker 1: they different shades of blue?
- 4:31Speaker 2: I believe that. Well, you know, if you.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Look at the head of the blue Jay that they
- 4:38Speaker 3: have like a patch of it, they're pretty close. But
- 4:40Speaker 3: I think Dodgers Dodgers is better. It's more royal blue.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Of course, of course. Okay, guys, you're ready to do
- 4:46Speaker 1: it. It's time for a handle on the news with Amy
- 4:50Speaker 1: Neil as Helen Keller this morning and me lead. Sorry, Well,
- 4:58Speaker 1: another assault or another arrest a purported illegal immigrant, and
- 5:06Speaker 1: this is a weird one is here in southern California,
- 5:10Speaker 1: a deputy US Marshall was wounded by a ricochet bullet.
- 5:15Speaker 1: In addition to the suspect being shot, he was wanted
- 5:19Speaker 1: for illegal entry, and during the chase and during the
- 5:23Speaker 1: attempted arrest, he allegedly tried to ram his car into
- 5:29Speaker 1: a bunch of cars, or at least into an ice vehicle,
- 5:32Speaker 1: and he was shot. He was shot and the bullet ricochet.
- 5:36Speaker 1: That's unusual, and in any case, he was arrested. And
- 5:40Speaker 1: of course that was I had to do with that
- 5:44Speaker 1: pit maneuver. It was a few days ago. Remember, if
- 5:47Speaker 1: I'm not mistaken, Amy, correct me if I'm wrong, it
- 5:49Speaker 1: was that car that was involved in the pit maneuver,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and or am I wrong on that?
- 5:54Speaker 2: This one is different?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Okay, then it's different, Then I'm wrong, right.
- 5:58Speaker 3: This one happened yesterday. There was the gentleman who is
- 6:02Speaker 3: going to be in court today. Apparently is an illegal immigrant,
- 6:07Speaker 3: and he is also a TikTok guy, and he says
- 6:10Speaker 3: he goes out in videotapes like fire response and police
- 6:15Speaker 3: response and that kind of stuff, and apparently was trying
- 6:17Speaker 3: to get away during an immigration enforcement action and tried
- 6:21Speaker 3: to ram a couple of cars. That's why he was shot,
- 6:24Speaker 3: and then the bullet ricochet and hit the the deity.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Let me ask you a question. Let me ask you
- 6:30Speaker 1: a question in terms of how bright this guy is.
- 6:33Speaker 1: If someone if you are an illegal immigrant, why would
- 6:38Speaker 1: you ever show up at a raid.
- 6:41Speaker 2: That's a good question.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I mean, come on, guys, you know at some point
- 6:46Speaker 1: you say, all right, maybe this one I'll leave alone.
- 6:50Speaker 1: That's like arson is showing up at fires and they
- 6:54Speaker 1: do you know, they just want to see the fire,
- 6:57Speaker 1: you know, going. And we've read about that all the time.
- 6:59Speaker 1: How many people want to see themselves arrested for illegal
- 7:02Speaker 1: immigration and then want to see themselves deported. That's an
- 7:06Speaker 1: interesting view, isn't it? All right? Moving on?
- 7:13Speaker 2: Twelve times? The charm doubtful?
- 7:17Speaker 3: The government shutdown is into day number twenty two, so
- 7:20Speaker 3: we're entering the fourth week and lawmakers have voted eleven
- 7:26Speaker 3: times against passing this short term spending bill, and another
- 7:31Speaker 3: vote is scheduled in the Senate today.
- 7:33Speaker 2: It's the same bill.
- 7:35Speaker 3: They're voting on the same thing, and the same people
- 7:38Speaker 3: are voting yes and no, the same.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yep, it's not going to move. And well, real quickly,
- 7:47Speaker 1: what part of the federal government is shut down? What's
- 7:51Speaker 1: not shut down? So security, Medicare Medica is still being paid,
- 7:55Speaker 1: the Army, Armed Force is still being paid, even though
- 7:57Speaker 1: I was supposed to be paid under the law, but
- 7:59Speaker 1: had said is moving money around? Does male get delivered.
- 8:03Speaker 1: It actually does. Airports TSA should be working there, but
- 8:07Speaker 1: except that.
- 8:08Speaker 3: We were talking to Rory O'Neill during wake up call
- 8:11Speaker 3: and he said that over the weekend, nineteen thousand flights
- 8:14Speaker 3: were delayed. Yeah, because of the shortages, even though air
- 8:17Speaker 3: traffic controllers are supposed to be on the job. Apparently
- 8:20Speaker 3: there's a lot of sick call.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Yes, strangely enough a lot have called in six So
- 8:25Speaker 1: that's fun and food Aid does it continue? The SNAP
- 8:30Speaker 1: and WICK program that's women, infants and children program, the
- 8:35Speaker 1: Wick for food and the SNAP program food stamps that continues.
- 8:39Speaker 1: On Homeland Security immigration border officials obviously that's continually on.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I don't know if they get paid or not, but
- 8:48Speaker 1: Homeland Security five percent have been furloughed. I mean, just
- 8:53Speaker 1: goes on and on. Now. I just a quick story.
- 8:56Speaker 1: On Sunday was the gala for Katarina's Club and Chef
- 9:02Speaker 1: Bruno caters that as he does every year from Anaheim
- 9:04Speaker 1: White House, best restauran out there. And so it was
- 9:08Speaker 1: at the Nixon Library and they had arranged for an
- 9:11Speaker 1: hour before the gala to go into open up the
- 9:15Speaker 1: Nixon Library, which I have never been inside, which is
- 9:19Speaker 1: kind of bizarre, because I understand it's some great museum,
- 9:22Speaker 1: so I went there. There it was on the door,
- 9:26Speaker 1: shut down due to the lack of money due to
- 9:32Speaker 1: the government shutdown because it's run by I guess the
- 9:35Speaker 1: Federal Parks Department. So no fun there, No joy, I
- 9:42Speaker 1: want to take a break. Yeah, then we all get
- 9:44Speaker 1: real quickly. Airports, air traffic controller. We did that. We
- 9:48Speaker 1: did that, We did that. Okay, we did that.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Okay, nothing to talk about here.
- 9:53Speaker 3: President Trump said after meeting on the phone with Russia's
- 9:59Speaker 3: president flat To Putin last week, that hey, we're going
- 10:01Speaker 3: to sit down and have a summit in Budapest, Hungary.
- 10:03Speaker 2: It's coming up, but now it's off.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Foreign Minister Sergei
- 10:11Speaker 3: Lavrov apparently had what is being called a productive call
- 10:15Speaker 3: by the White House. But then after that call, the
- 10:17Speaker 3: White House said, we don't need to talk anymore, and so.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Now it's off. But it was as Putin's as Kremlin said,
- 10:28Speaker 1: how could it be off if it was never on?
- 10:32Speaker 1: And so it was never there. And the President has
- 10:34Speaker 1: sort of a way of doing this. You know, let's
- 10:36Speaker 1: get together. We've agreed to and Putin through Lavrov said no, no,
- 10:40Speaker 1: we haven't agreed to do this. And the way it's
- 10:43Speaker 1: being spun is Lavrov and Marco Rubio already had the
- 10:46Speaker 1: meeting that was quote productive, it's always productive. He ever
- 10:49Speaker 1: noticed that frank and productive, And I've never understood that
- 10:54Speaker 1: other than nothing was done. So anyway, there is no meeting,
- 10:58Speaker 1: it will not happen. Putin has not moved one ioda
- 11:03Speaker 1: off of his position, as Zelensky hasn't either. I mean
- 11:08Speaker 1: they're at the same impact they have been. Ooh, all right, Amy.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Big bucks to see the boys in Blue and the
- 11:15Speaker 3: Blue Jays play. So the game Game one of the
- 11:20Speaker 3: World Series is Friday. It's in Toronto because the Blue
- 11:23Speaker 3: Jays had by one game, they had a better record
- 11:26Speaker 3: than the Dodgers, but that's enough, so they have home
- 11:28Speaker 3: field advantage. So travel experts are saying, if you're gonna go,
- 11:33Speaker 3: get ready to pay for it, because search for a
- 11:35Speaker 3: round trip tickets from Lax to Toronto starting at twelve
- 11:41Speaker 3: hundred dollars.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Let me ask you go go go ahead, I'm sorry,
- 11:46Speaker 4: Oh no, that's fine, And just saying the least expensive
- 11:48Speaker 4: seat in the stadium in Toronto is more than nine
- 11:51Speaker 4: hundred dollars, and of course that's the least expensive seat.
- 11:54Speaker 3: So it's the nosebleeds are the ones out, way way
- 11:56Speaker 3: way back out, So it's to add up.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Hey, the uh, these are the official Dodger ticket prices, right,
- 12:05Speaker 1: this is the ones that you get from the Dodgers,
- 12:08Speaker 1: because I'm assuming the scalpers tickets are insane.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Well, everything's on resale now. So, like I was just
- 12:14Speaker 3: looking at Ticketmaster for the Dodgers tickets. You know, they
- 12:17Speaker 3: said that they're starting at eight hundred dollars, but the
- 12:21Speaker 3: you know, if you want good seats, it's going to
- 12:22Speaker 3: cost you. And like so behind home base twenty one
- 12:26Speaker 3: thousand dollars. If you want to be over the third base,
- 12:29Speaker 3: dugout ten thousand dollars. If you're a little higher up
- 12:32Speaker 3: fifty seven hundred dollars. And this is all per.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Ticket, okay, So these are tickets that have that people
- 12:38Speaker 1: have already had tickets. These are season ticket holder I'm
- 12:41Speaker 1: assuming that they get first to pop at it at
- 12:44Speaker 1: the official price of let's say, what twelve hundred dollars
- 12:49Speaker 1: or fifteen hundred dollars, and they sell them for six thousand,
- 12:51Speaker 1: eight thousand, dollars. In other words, the ticket. You can't
- 12:53Speaker 1: get a general admission ticket from the from the Dodgers.
- 12:57Speaker 3: No, no, not now. And if you want a ticket,
- 13:00Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know, but I know that
- 13:03Speaker 3: the cheapest seats are going for just over eight hundred, Hi, Dodger.
- 13:07Speaker 1: How did you get your tickets? And you got them
- 13:09Speaker 1: at a reasonable price. Is there a season ticket holder
- 13:12Speaker 1: situation going on in your life?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Yes?
- 13:15Speaker 1: Okay, yes, and you share it with other people.
- 13:18Speaker 2: We have a group of people who share the season tickets, yes.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And who decides what? Where? When? Is it? Oh?
- 13:24Speaker 3: I do a whole big draft and lottery and yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 3: my friend takes care of all that and it's a
- 13:30Speaker 3: pain in the butt. But you know what, we get
- 13:31Speaker 3: to go to some great games.
- 13:33Speaker 1: So you got it.
- 13:34Speaker 3: And literally for the for the playoff tickets, we have
- 13:37Speaker 3: hats and we've draw a name and then which game
- 13:39Speaker 3: it is and match it up. And so another group
- 13:42Speaker 3: member got the World Series tickets for this one.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah, all right.
- 13:47Speaker 3: High times for the Dow. Speaking of big money, the
- 13:50Speaker 3: Dow Jones industrial average hit a record yesterday. Is the
- 13:54Speaker 3: floodgates open for companies reporting how much profit they made?
- 13:57Speaker 3: During the summer, the Dow was two hundred and eighteen points,
- 14:01Speaker 3: topping it's prior all time high. It's now trading above
- 14:06Speaker 3: forty seven thousand, so it's flat right now, but trading
- 14:11Speaker 3: really high. And part of the thing is that they
- 14:13Speaker 3: had several groups having really great earnings, including the Warner
- 14:18Speaker 3: Brothers Discovery. Their stock was up eleven percent after the
- 14:23Speaker 3: company said it's now looking at other options besides it's
- 14:26Speaker 3: previously announced split of Discovery Global off Warner Brothers could
- 14:31Speaker 3: be more profitable for shareholders.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I believe that the reason they're making so much money
- 14:36Speaker 1: is they're doing a lot more with a lot less
- 14:38Speaker 1: layoffs across the board. AI coming in and helping them
- 14:42Speaker 1: out in many ways. So what you're going to see
- 14:45Speaker 1: is the various companies corporations making a ton of money
- 14:49Speaker 1: and unemployment I believe going through the roof because it's
- 14:53Speaker 1: just more efficient. So it's usually it's not quite that
- 14:57Speaker 1: this formula. But we're a new new world. I think
- 15:02Speaker 1: we have time for one more.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Okay, break, see something, say something. It works.
- 15:10Speaker 3: So there was a guy who apparently wanted to carry
- 15:13Speaker 3: out a mass shooting at the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
- 15:18Speaker 3: This was on Monday, but police are saying his family
- 15:22Speaker 3: was key to the capture because the guy had posted
- 15:25Speaker 3: on social media he'd made some threats and police were called.
- 15:31Speaker 3: The guy's name is Billy Joe Cagele, and his family said,
- 15:35Speaker 3: we're worried about him. We think that he might be
- 15:37Speaker 3: up to something. And police were there in fifteen minutes
- 15:40Speaker 3: and arrested him inside the terminal.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and see the video of him appearing to case
- 15:47Speaker 1: the place, looking around and being right near to a checkpoint.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And they tackled him and arrested him. Went to his
- 15:56Speaker 1: car which was waiting outside, and he had parked the
- 15:58Speaker 1: car at the loading zone where I guess you hear
- 16:03Speaker 1: loading and unloy loading and unloading. Only try doing that
- 16:07Speaker 1: at LAX and leave a car that's with no one
- 16:11Speaker 1: in it and inside the car at an ar fifteen Yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 1: with you know, it's interesting and making a fairly big
- 16:17Speaker 1: deal about twenty seven rounds of ammunition? Who only has
- 16:20Speaker 1: twenty seven out rounds of ammunition if they're going to
- 16:22Speaker 1: shoot something up? Let's find that a little strange. I
- 16:26Speaker 1: do not that it didn't happen, but I just find
- 16:29Speaker 1: that somewhat of an anomaly. But the good news is
- 16:32Speaker 1: the family was able to figure this out early and
- 16:35Speaker 1: it was averted because with twenty seven rounds of ammunition
- 16:39Speaker 1: being shot into a crowded checkpoint, a lot of people
- 16:43Speaker 1: are going to get hurt and a fair amount are
- 16:45Speaker 1: going to die.
- 16:46Speaker 3: All right, Well, not all women are happy about this
- 16:49Speaker 3: woman's rise. Lawmakers in Japan have elected a hardline conservative,
- 16:54Speaker 3: Senai Takeichi. I'm sure if I'm saying that right as
- 16:58Speaker 3: Prime minister. It makes her the first woman in modern
- 17:02Speaker 3: times to lead Japan. To Keachi says her hero is
- 17:07Speaker 3: former British Conservative leader Margaret Thatcher. She's appointed two other
- 17:11Speaker 3: women to her cabinet, the same as the previous government,
- 17:15Speaker 3: but some critics say this is going to put her
- 17:18Speaker 3: coalition even further to the right. One person, professor of
- 17:23Speaker 3: Asian studies at Temple University's Japan campus, said that one
- 17:27Speaker 3: would like to say this is an historic moment for Japan,
- 17:30Speaker 3: but it's really hard to make that case given her
- 17:32Speaker 3: rather poor track record on empowering women.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah. I just doesn't like women very much. Matter of fact,
- 17:39Speaker 1: feels that women should be in the kitchen having babies.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't think that's right.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Huh. She's pretty right wing out there, Okay, moving on.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Malibu is making moves to clear out homeless camps in
- 17:54Speaker 3: the name of wildfire prevention.
- 17:57Speaker 2: The city council declared a local.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Emergency after fuel moisture levels and the Santa Monica Mountains
- 18:03Speaker 3: fell below sixty five percent. So they said that by
- 18:07Speaker 3: declaring that emergency, they can clear homeless camps in high
- 18:11Speaker 3: fire hazard zones and only have to give one day
- 18:14Speaker 3: notice instead of the normal two days, and if the
- 18:18Speaker 3: homeless people refuse to leave, they can arrest them.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Now, imagine you're on the beach. Are you set up
- 18:24Speaker 1: a tent along Pacific Coast Highway on the western edge,
- 18:29Speaker 1: right next to the ocean. There's your tent with a
- 18:33Speaker 1: million dollar view of the ocean. Houses used to cost fourteen,
- 18:38Speaker 1: fifteen to twenty million dollars along that beach. It reminds
- 18:42Speaker 1: me of the favelas, the slums of Rio. If you
- 18:45Speaker 1: look at any picture going up the mountain facing Sugar Loaf,
- 18:50Speaker 1: are the slums having the most spectacular views in the world.
- 18:56Speaker 1: You know, sometimes you just wonder what's happening. Can you
- 19:00Speaker 1: imagine if you bought a tent along the ocean, what
- 19:02Speaker 1: they would charge you? What a premium? What a premium?
- 19:05Speaker 1: Or you had a tent and you sublet it. Boy,
- 19:09Speaker 1: there's some money. You can make a lot of money
- 19:11Speaker 1: doing that.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Turkey dinner.
- 19:15Speaker 3: How much is it going to cost you? Well, if
- 19:17Speaker 3: you get it at Walmart, it's just forty bucks. Walmart
- 19:20Speaker 3: has announced it's twenty twenty five Thanksgiving Meal basket. You
- 19:25Speaker 3: can buy it on site or online, and the retailer
- 19:29Speaker 3: says it's the lowest price offered since it started offering
- 19:33Speaker 3: the meal basket in twenty twenty two. Forty bucks for
- 19:36Speaker 3: twenty items turkey, potatoes, stuffing, fried fried onions, pie crust,
- 19:42Speaker 3: and box macaroni and cheese.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Under four dollars of person for a full Thanksgiving meal.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Well sort of Thanksgiving in a box.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Yeah, but still it's a Thanksgiving meal. I mean, it
- 19:54Speaker 1: is something that people who don't have the wherewithal. But
- 20:00Speaker 1: if you look at the disclaimers, one of the things
- 20:03Speaker 1: is it's a used turkey, so there's there's some issues there. People. Yeah,
- 20:10Speaker 1: that's great, It is great.
- 20:13Speaker 3: The mac and cheese recipe that I got from Neil
- 20:16Speaker 3: that I have made several times.
- 20:18Speaker 2: That is delicious.
- 20:20Speaker 3: It costs more than that whole meal, seriously, because it's
- 20:24Speaker 3: all these specialty cheeses.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Yeah, but Neil is so bougie. You know, he pretends
- 20:30Speaker 1: he's a man of the people. But who are who
- 20:33Speaker 1: are we kidding? Huh?
- 20:37Speaker 3: Miami another case of life imitating art. It's kind of
- 20:44Speaker 3: like a real life RoboCop. It's called PUG. It's an
- 20:49Speaker 3: autonomous police car. PUG stands for Police Unmanned Ground Vehicle.
- 20:53Speaker 3: The Miami Dade Sheriff's Office unveiled PUG as the first
- 20:57Speaker 3: autonomous police patrol car in the country. It has three
- 21:00Speaker 3: hundred and sixty degree cameras, drone launching capabilities, license plate readers,
- 21:05Speaker 3: thermal imaging, and of course AI.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Officials say for the.
- 21:09Speaker 3: First year, a human deputy will be sitting inside the
- 21:12Speaker 3: car just to make sure it doesn't go all Christine
- 21:14Speaker 3: on anybody.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Hey, why if you have a robotic car, why would
- 21:19Speaker 1: it have room for someone in it to drive it
- 21:23Speaker 1: or oversee it. You would think it would be the
- 21:26Speaker 1: size like every other drone of or every other autonomous vehicle,
- 21:32Speaker 1: really doesn't have room for a driver. Well that's not Yes,
- 21:35Speaker 1: that's true. Unless it's a passenger vehicle. So I don't
- 21:39Speaker 1: quite get this. Maybe it's small. Have you seen those
- 21:43Speaker 1: robots that go round downtown and deliver the pizzas?
- 21:47Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 21:47Speaker 1: They're kind of neat with a little flag and I
- 21:50Speaker 1: just love those.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Have you seen the video of the one that basically
- 21:56Speaker 3: blocked a person in a wheelchair.
- 21:58Speaker 2: It's kind of gone viral, you can say, or two huh.
- 22:02Speaker 1: And there is described as a large, expensive dystopian roomba.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I have one of those at home.
- 22:09Speaker 2: He just sweeps up the bad guys.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yeahut them in the back. Yeah. Well, this one delivers
- 22:14Speaker 1: pizza with a lot of dust on it and it's
- 22:17Speaker 1: not quite what we want. But still we're moving. We're moving.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I head balls to the wall with this, the robotics,
- 22:25Speaker 1: robotics of course, robots having no balls.
- 22:31Speaker 3: The Louver is once again open for viewing spectacular rare items,
- 22:35Speaker 3: except for the French ground jewels because they're missing. The
- 22:39Speaker 3: Louver has reopened three days after the big jewelry heist.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Long lines waited to get in beneath the landmark Paris
- 22:48Speaker 3: glass pyramid.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I think that place is so cool.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Eight pieces from France Crown France's crown jewels were taken
- 22:56Speaker 3: worth like one hundred million dollars. The Sunday morning heist
- 23:01Speaker 3: happened just two hundred and seventy yards away from the
- 23:03Speaker 3: Mona Lisa, basically down the hall from it.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, first of all, who steals the Mona Lisa with
- 23:09Speaker 1: these jewels? You can take the brooches and the necklaces,
- 23:13Speaker 1: the bracelets apart and just sell the stones, which they
- 23:16Speaker 1: think is going to happen, because you can't sell the
- 23:17Speaker 1: piece itself unless you have some buddy very very wealthy
- 23:21Speaker 1: and puts in a safe deposit box just to own them.
- 23:24Speaker 1: It's tougher to do with the Mona Lisa, sell parts
- 23:27Speaker 1: and bits of it on the open market or even
- 23:30Speaker 1: the clothes market. But would you talk about have you
- 23:33Speaker 1: seen the intricacy of that attack, and well how simple
- 23:38Speaker 1: it was. All they did is take a cherry picker,
- 23:42Speaker 1: one of those construction cranes, not to kind of lift
- 23:45Speaker 1: things up, but I'm talking about those that lift a
- 23:47Speaker 1: person up and moved it up to a window, crashed
- 23:50Speaker 1: through the window, went inside, and in three minutes do
- 23:53Speaker 1: exactly where they're going, smashed the glass and took them
- 23:56Speaker 1: and then we're gone down. I think it was down
- 23:59Speaker 1: ladder and then buzzed away on motorcycles. Pretty sophisticated stuff,
- 24:04Speaker 1: except I heard an expert in crying and criminologists said,
- 24:09Speaker 1: you know what, they dropped something. They dropped one of
- 24:12Speaker 1: the approaches or a crown.
- 24:14Speaker 2: It was one of the crowns.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and so that's that tells you something. And
- 24:17Speaker 1: they left so much DNA on everything that you guessed
- 24:23Speaker 1: that they didn't even use gloves.
- 24:25Speaker 2: And it happened while it was open.
- 24:27Speaker 3: They have video from somebody who was in the museum
- 24:30Speaker 3: at the time, videotaping the guy as he's smashing into
- 24:33Speaker 3: the one of the display cases.
- 24:35Speaker 1: And they have guards there. They have guards, but have
- 24:39Speaker 1: you ever been to the Louver or any major museum.
- 24:42Speaker 1: The guards sitting there and are in a corner on
- 24:44Speaker 1: a chair. There's not a lot of the folding chair.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Now they're asleep. They're asleep because guards not only are
- 24:50Speaker 1: issued uniforms, are also issued ambient pills.
- 24:55Speaker 3: A big beautiful ballroom is drawing big beautiful backlash. So
- 25:00Speaker 3: President Trump has begun construction of the new ballroom that's
- 25:06Speaker 3: going to be on the east wing of the White
- 25:09Speaker 3: House and architecture groups are raising concerns. The Society of
- 25:13Speaker 3: Architectural Historians has urged a significant change to a historic
- 25:18Speaker 3: building of this import should follow a rigorous, deliberate design
- 25:21Speaker 3: and review process. It's raising questions about whether the administration
- 25:25Speaker 3: is following the traditional approval process for building on the
- 25:28Speaker 3: White House grounds. The Trump administration has brushed off the
- 25:32Speaker 3: criticism and says, in the latest instance of manufactured outrage,
- 25:36Speaker 3: unhinged leftist in their fake news allies are clutching their
- 25:39Speaker 3: pearls over President Trump's visionary edition of a grand, privately
- 25:43Speaker 3: funded ballroom for the White House.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I find this troubling. I mean, it's the president. Just
- 25:49Speaker 1: why do I find it troubling? Because there was no
- 25:52Speaker 1: input and they're saying there should be, and I tend
- 25:55Speaker 1: to agree you should go through an architectural committee because
- 25:59Speaker 1: of the history of the White House and what would
- 26:01Speaker 1: look good and as Trump just arbitrarily saying this is
- 26:05Speaker 1: where I'm going to put it, this is how big
- 26:06Speaker 1: it's going to be, Like he paved over the Rose
- 26:09Speaker 1: Garden with concrete and now it's just basically where you
- 26:13Speaker 1: can skateboard. And that's because the Trump said, Okay, we're
- 26:17Speaker 1: going to pave that, we're going to build this, this
- 26:19Speaker 1: is the way it's going to look, and this is
- 26:22Speaker 1: going to be attached to the White House. Well actually
- 26:24Speaker 1: originally it wasn't going to be attached now it is,
- 26:27Speaker 1: so you know, I do not like the arbitrarianess of it.
- 26:31Speaker 1: And then if anybody says, well, we should go through
- 26:34Speaker 1: an architectural committee and at least look at the historical
- 26:38Speaker 1: aspects of this. You're a left wing just out of control?
- 26:43Speaker 1: What is it? What did you say? Exactly? Left wing? Well,
- 26:50Speaker 1: the normal language which I can't see.
- 26:52Speaker 3: The manufactured high ridge of unhinged leftists.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And news allies.
- 27:01Speaker 2: But why are you surprised? This is how Trump operates.
- 27:04Speaker 2: He likes to know enough an he wants to do it.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Now, I'm not surprised. All I'm all I'm commenting is
- 27:09Speaker 1: I would rather have a norm. Doesn't it make sense
- 27:13Speaker 1: if you're going to change the White House, which is iconic,
- 27:17Speaker 1: beyond iconic, and that you would figure there should be
- 27:22Speaker 1: some input from historians architect There are historical architects. Now,
- 27:29Speaker 1: to his point, hey, Truman redid it, Teddy Roosevelt redid it.
- 27:34Speaker 1: But I don't think even though we're architectural historian organizations,
- 27:39Speaker 1: that's all. I just don't like the arbitrariness of it.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Musicals could be missing a key component very quickly, the music.
- 27:50Speaker 3: The Broadway Musicians Union Local aight oh two is set
- 27:52Speaker 3: a deadline to strike if they don't get a new contract.
- 27:56Speaker 3: The union has given the Broadway League until the morning
- 28:00Speaker 3: of October twenty third, that's tomorrow, before they say an
- 28:03Speaker 3: immediate strike will be called. They want increased wages, increased
- 28:08Speaker 3: healthcare contributions, and employment and income security.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I mean that's a problem for those of
- 28:13Speaker 1: us at musicals. And where do these male dancers go.
- 28:17Speaker 1: There are only so many position in flower shops out
- 28:19Speaker 1: there that you can go to. Why, okay, we're done.
- 28:26Speaker 1: You've been listening to The Bill Handle Show. Catch My
- 28:29Speaker 1: Show Monday through Friday six am to nine am, and
