Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Craig Wade, joined by the producer Cameron Parker. Did you
- 0:05Speaker 1: watch Sunday Night Football last night?
- 0:06Speaker 2: Watch? I did?
- 0:09Speaker 3: In Texas fans, welcome to butt hurt Nation. Kewboy's probably
- 0:15Speaker 3: welcome you in. He had he had four interceptions and
- 0:19Speaker 3: with the first half right, five in the first two
- 0:20Speaker 3: and a half quarters. That's right, And me and my
- 0:22Speaker 3: friends were texting about it. But Craig, I always felt
- 0:25Speaker 3: like the Linschnicle are still in this game, you know,
- 0:29Speaker 3: And I think collins Worth talked about it.
- 0:31Speaker 2: In the third quarter. Offense just went dormant.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Especially in the second half, and this has kind of
- 0:36Speaker 3: been a trend. But they keep winning, so you're kind
- 0:38Speaker 3: of like, well, you know, they keep winning, so you
- 0:41Speaker 3: need to really talk about it, you know. I don't know.
- 0:44Speaker 3: And they lost the Jets, but hey, Thursday night Football,
- 0:47Speaker 3: short turnaround, must win for New York. The New York
- 0:50Speaker 3: It's absolutely destroyed yesterday. What a disgusting game. Now the
- 0:56Speaker 3: text have lost two games in a row. Now, I
- 0:57Speaker 3: know Onnico Collins digs out for the rest of the season.
- 1:02Speaker 3: But if you're a Texans fanser, starting no wonder about
- 1:05Speaker 3: this offense, Craig, because it's I mean, they haven't scored
- 1:08Speaker 3: in the second half a touchdown the second half since
- 1:10Speaker 3: was it week six?
- 1:11Speaker 2: What I read? Correct?
- 1:12Speaker 1: Yeah, So let me tell you, coming at it from
- 1:15Speaker 1: a different perspective. I'm watching that game, and all that
- 1:19Speaker 1: keeps rolling through my mind was waiting on that for
- 1:25Speaker 1: those of you.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Who were saying the Rams did.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Did that Jared Goff dirty by trading him and by
- 1:38Speaker 1: the way, they gave up an awful lot to get
- 1:41Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford, because I heard that a lot when things
- 1:44Speaker 1: were really really going well for the Lions, uh and
- 1:48Speaker 1: and back then, my only response was, well, they got
- 1:50Speaker 1: what they wanted. The Rams went all in, they got him,
- 1:54Speaker 1: and and they went on and won their Super Bowl.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Uh and so that you know, maybe the Lions are
- 2:01Speaker 1: finally cashing in on it.
- 2:04Speaker 2: But watching him last night, the.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Other thing that kept going through my mind is, this
- 2:10Speaker 1: is the Jared Goff who played for the Rams, who
- 2:13Speaker 1: would make the old time right.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Not for five in a game.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I mean that was his all time personal worst. He
- 2:18Speaker 1: thrown four in a game as a Ram. But I
- 2:21Speaker 1: kept saying, this is the guy who was inconsistent in
- 2:25Speaker 1: his time in Los Angeles to where and they said, well,
- 2:29Speaker 1: he led him to the super Bowl. Yeah, he led
- 2:30Speaker 1: him to all the three points in the Super Bowl game.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I three, it's a rare win win trade for both franchises.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I think it was. I think it was.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I think the Lions definitely did well last night. Notwithstanding,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I think they did well. They came out of it
- 2:44Speaker 1: well with it and the extra draft capital they got.
- 2:47Speaker 1: And the Rams got a quarterback who did indeed lead
- 2:50Speaker 1: them too and winning a Super Bowl. And by the way,
- 2:55Speaker 1: he's playing pretty good right now, playing incredible. We'll see
- 2:58Speaker 1: how he does tonight against the Miami Dolphins. Uh so,
- 3:03Speaker 1: we'll see. But anyway, my point was that it isn't
- 3:07Speaker 1: all lopsided one way or the other way. That's and
- 3:11Speaker 1: and trades rarely, you know, uh, trades rarely are as
- 3:14Speaker 1: good as that.
- 3:15Speaker 2: It's a huge win win for both sides. But in
- 3:19Speaker 2: this case, I think it was Barry Jones.
- 3:22Speaker 3: He hasn't won a trade tints what herschel Walker.
- 3:26Speaker 2: And Jimmy made that deal.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Okay, So, so j Jerry was automatically.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Jerry wasn't the GM back then. Jimmy did all the
- 3:35Speaker 1: personnel moves. That's why Jerry that's part of the reason
- 3:38Speaker 1: why Jerry burned hot about this deal about how he
- 3:41Speaker 1: knew football jocks and socks and how five hundred guys
- 3:44Speaker 1: could coach this team and all the other crap that
- 3:47Speaker 1: he said, and then he decided he was going to
- 3:49Speaker 1: run the team, uh the personnel behind it. So anyway,
- 3:54Speaker 1: that was it's all a part of that Jerry apparently.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And unfortunately, I'm told it doesn't look like any any
- 4:05Speaker 1: sound of this has survived because Cameron checked and he's
- 4:09Speaker 1: pretty good at tracking this stuff down. But Jerry apparently
- 4:13Speaker 1: got really testy. You know, he does that he holds
- 4:16Speaker 1: court down there, like in that tunnel area down outside
- 4:21Speaker 1: of the locker rooms. You don't see it from inside
- 4:24Speaker 1: the steam You've got to be down in the bowels
- 4:25Speaker 1: of the stadium to see where that is outside like
- 4:27Speaker 1: you've seen that area before you can, and he just
- 4:31Speaker 1: kind of stops and does a session there in the hallway. Well,
- 4:35Speaker 1: and he's been doing that, you know, for years, and
- 4:41Speaker 1: he's starting to get a little testy. And somebody asked
- 4:44Speaker 1: him yesterday about the sunlight and being a problem for
- 4:49Speaker 1: the cowboy receivers, and his response was something like, what
- 4:52Speaker 1: we've known about it for years or something.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I have the entire conversation your courtesy of joey
- 4:59Speaker 3: Epstein from the Yahoo Sport, who I believe is a
- 5:03Speaker 3: lifetime long corn. So he comes out and, apparently unprompted
- 5:07Speaker 3: Craig before even a reporter first asks him a question,
- 5:10Speaker 3: he goes on.
- 5:11Speaker 2: He starts talking.
- 5:12Speaker 3: He says, quote, we know where the sun's going to
- 5:14Speaker 3: be when we decide to flip the coin or not,
- 5:17Speaker 3: So we know where the damn son's going to be
- 5:19Speaker 3: in our own stadium. End quote. Reporter asks, well, why
- 5:23Speaker 3: not put curtains in? Quote, Well, let's just tear the
- 5:26Speaker 3: damn stadium down. But another one, you're kidding me. Everybody's
- 5:30Speaker 3: got the same thing. Every team comes in here and
- 5:32Speaker 3: has the same issues. They know where the son's going
- 5:35Speaker 3: to be. So our team has the same thing. And
- 5:37Speaker 3: the quote next question, is it more on Mike Mike McCarthy,
- 5:41Speaker 3: Dallas Cowboys head coach for now for not understanding where
- 5:44Speaker 3: the sun is or not calling quote I'm not saying.
- 5:48Speaker 3: I'm saying the world knows where the sun is. We
- 5:52Speaker 3: get to know that almost a year in advance. So
- 5:55Speaker 3: someone asked me about the sun and what about the sun?
- 5:59Speaker 3: Where's the moon? We're fine, but everybody plays in the
- 6:03Speaker 3: sun out here.
- 6:04Speaker 1: And I wish we had the audio that know know
- 6:07Speaker 1: where the damn son is? How about the moon? Why
- 6:09Speaker 1: don't we just tear down the place? That would be
- 6:14Speaker 1: Radio Gold because Jerry's radio Maybe he'll make reference to
- 6:17Speaker 1: it tomorrow when he's on in Dallas with his weekly
- 6:20Speaker 1: show with r J and John.
- 6:24Speaker 3: That needs like a T shirt. I'm telling you, what
- 6:27Speaker 3: about the sun? Where's the moon?
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 6:30Speaker 3: That's great, where's the moon? That's good stuff. Next time
- 6:33Speaker 3: my dad asked me, hey, where'd you put the keys at?
- 6:35Speaker 2: I don't know?
- 6:36Speaker 3: Where's the moon? The Dallas Cowboys owner and GM ladies
- 6:44Speaker 3: and jail.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and the franchise is disintegrating. Well maybe not the franchise,
- 6:50Speaker 1: but his team on the on field product is. I
- 6:53Speaker 1: want you to think about something for a minute here, Cam,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I have a very close friend. His name is Mike Grimm.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Good guy. We were in high school together in North Carolina.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You got a chance to meet him, I did. Mike
- 7:05Speaker 1: lives in Portland, Oregon, or a suburb. I think he's
- 7:08Speaker 1: actually in a place called Happy Valley, Oregon. I think
- 7:10Speaker 1: that's where he lives, and he went to Oregon State
- 7:15Speaker 1: University became an engineer and has done it. Has a
- 7:21Speaker 1: really cool job with what he does for the city
- 7:23Speaker 1: of Portland and the water and all this other kind
- 7:25Speaker 1: of stuff. When we were in high school together, he
- 7:29Speaker 1: was right brain. I was left brain. He was all
- 7:32Speaker 1: the math and science. He brilliant, and of course I was,
- 7:36Speaker 1: you know, not so much on that, you know, the humanities,
- 7:41Speaker 1: the arts and the history, and then things like that
- 7:43Speaker 1: English and stuff like that.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I was.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I was pretty good at that stuff, speech and drama
- 7:48Speaker 1: and ultimately broadcasting stuff.
- 7:50Speaker 2: But we became fast friends.
- 7:51Speaker 1: We worked together on the student newspaper, and we both
- 7:53Speaker 1: found out that we both had this big affinity for
- 7:56Speaker 1: the Dodgers, and we do when we've carried it all
- 7:58Speaker 1: throughout the years and all that other kind of stuff.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But Mike has been cursed in a way that I
- 8:03Speaker 1: have not. Mike has been a longtime Dallas Cowboys fan
- 8:07Speaker 1: ever since we were in high school, and so he
- 8:11Speaker 1: makes a trip every year. He picks a weekend when
- 8:14Speaker 1: both the Longhorns are at home and the Cowboys are
- 8:17Speaker 1: at home, and he comes down and he comes to
- 8:20Speaker 1: a long Horn football game and then he goes up
- 8:23Speaker 1: to the Cowboy game the next day. Now, there's been
- 8:26Speaker 1: some games he's come to that. Unfortunately we're not very
- 8:29Speaker 1: good in these parts. Like he was at that fifty
- 8:30Speaker 1: seven and fifty six loss to Kansas, and he was
- 8:33Speaker 1: at a couple others. But he was at this past
- 8:35Speaker 1: Saturday's game against Florida. Beautiful day for it, got a
- 8:39Speaker 1: chance to see, you know, the long horns really, you know,
- 8:42Speaker 1: hitting on all cylinders, the whole bit. They went and
- 8:45Speaker 1: we went and had some barbecue after the game. Terry
- 8:48Speaker 1: Blocks No, because he was headed north, had to get
- 8:52Speaker 1: on the road and we went to Southside over another Okay,
- 8:54Speaker 1: south Side market, so he yeah, but he came up,
- 9:00Speaker 1: he and his friend and we had some barbecue and
- 9:03Speaker 1: then they took off Harlington to be in person to
- 9:07Speaker 1: witness that yesterday.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Now, I will tell you this.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Because he asked me every year if I want to
- 9:15Speaker 1: go to the Cowboys game afterwards, and my answer is
- 9:18Speaker 1: always no, I want to recover on Sunday or in
- 9:20Speaker 1: the case yesterday would have matter, had a basketball game
- 9:22Speaker 1: to do anyway, but I.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Know I don't want to pay that price to go.
- 9:27Speaker 1: There and I'm a little bit spoiled on because I
- 9:29Speaker 1: get to work out of that network TV boot to
- 9:31Speaker 1: call the state championship games and so on and so forth.
- 9:34Speaker 1: But no, however, I'm here to tell you, Cameron Parker,
- 9:39Speaker 1: if someone said to me, you have to pay for
- 9:42Speaker 1: your ticket, but after the game you get to go
- 9:44Speaker 1: down in the tunnel and hear Jerry say, where's the moon?
- 9:47Speaker 1: I think I would have done it. I would have
- 9:50Speaker 1: done it, and I would have had a recorder on
- 9:52Speaker 1: because I would have wanted to hear Jerry go that
- 9:54Speaker 1: where's the moon? You know, we did just tear the
- 9:58Speaker 1: whole damn thing down. I think I would have done that.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I would have paid just fit to have the opportunity
- 10:04Speaker 1: for that. All Right, we're gonna hear from head coach
- 10:06Speaker 1: Steve Circasian up next on Sports Radio AM thirteen under
- 10:08Speaker 1: the Zone.
