- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. Now, I'm sure you're tired of hearing me
- 0:07talk about the financial sector and their bullshit when it
- 0:10comes to Ebstein, but it's impossible to get away from.
- 0:15And it wasn't just Epstein, it was everybody around them,
- 0:18including Glaine Maxwell. But in the instance of Glaanne Maxwell,
- 0:23it wasn't just JP Morgan or the other banks we
- 0:27always talk about. It was Swiss based UBS who helped
- 0:31facilitate the purchase of her tucked away hideout that she
- 0:34ended up getting arrested in. And I think the moral
- 0:37of the story is that the financial sector doesn't give
- 0:40a damn what kind of crimes people are committing as
- 0:43long as they get a fat envelope. As well, it's
- 0:46always profits over people, especially in the financial sector. So
- 0:51today we have an article from Reuter's and the headline
- 0:54exclusive how ubs helped Epstein accomplish Maxwell by her hideout
- 0:59tucked away Hey. This article was authored by Tom Simms,
- 1:03Naomi Robnick, John O'Donnell, and Lawrence White. In rural New Hampshire,
- 1:09a compound on one hundred and fifty six acre estate,
- 1:12dub tucked away became Glenn Maxwell's final residence before she
- 1:16was charged and arrested in July of twenty twenty. And
- 1:20when she was arrested, it was wild. It was pretty unexpected, honestly,
- 1:25because at that point there had been no talk about
- 1:28even going after Glenn Maxwell. Now they were saying that,
- 1:32you know, they were spinning the wheels, they were looking
- 1:35into you know, accomplices, associates, whatever. But by that point
- 1:40we had no faith. And when she was arrested it
- 1:43took me by surprise. Honestly, I figured that she boogeed
- 1:47to France or England by that point, why would you
- 1:51stay in America. Behind the cash purchase of the one
- 1:55point one million dollar home in December all of twenty
- 1:58nineteen were fun sent by Swiss banking Giant UBS on
- 2:03Maxwell's behalf a month earlier, documents in a cash of
- 2:06files released by the Justice Department related to the convicted
- 2:10sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's show. The money then cascaded through
- 2:15a web of trust and banks to buy the secluded property.
- 2:20Ubs processed the transfer for an account link to Maxwell
- 2:23three months after US criminal investigators issued a bank a
- 2:27grand Jerry subpoena to divulge information on all her financial
- 2:31dealings on August sixteenth that year, citing an investigation into
- 2:36sex trafficking of children. Imagine being a bank getting that
- 2:40kind of information and still doing business with Glenn Maxwell.
- 2:44Weren't these banks closing people's accounts out for political beliefs
- 2:49or if you like put in a bet on like
- 2:51a website or whatever that they don't agree with. Don't
- 2:54they like close your account out without any kind of
- 2:57conversation or anything. Yeah, we don't want your business anymore,
- 3:00keep it moving. But if it's Glenn Maxwell, different story, right,
- 3:06Because when you're part of the club, well you're a
- 3:09part of the club. UBS told Maxwell by email on
- 3:12August first that it would cease doing business with her
- 3:14within a month without giving a reason. Well that's a
- 3:17good move. I can't even begin to imagine any kind
- 3:22of bank that would want to do business with somebody
- 3:25like Glenn Maxwell. Aren't there other scummy people for you
- 3:30to get in bed with? People that we don't know
- 3:33about yet, Because when they do it with people like
- 3:36Maxwell or Epstein, it's like they're rubbing our face in it. Right,
- 3:41everybody knows what these people are, who they are, what
- 3:43they do. Nobody cares. How about that? Stop asking questions?
- 3:48Aren't you more interested in what happened to Nancy Guthrie's mom?
- 3:52Who cares about Epstein? It's old news. Banks are required
- 3:57to show they take measures to prevent their services being
- 4:00used to facilitate crime. Failures can lead to large penalties
- 4:04by regulators, legal action from victims, and costly reputational damage.
- 4:09Lenders must closely monitor high risk customers and curb or
- 4:13cut their service if they suspect dubious activity. But that
- 4:19doesn't really happen, does it, Not with people like this,
- 4:23not until the fire is so hot that you can't
- 4:25avoid the flame. But on the way to a three
- 4:28alarm fire, what do they care if there's a little
- 4:30bit of a third degree burn? Right, they can live
- 4:33through that, Just pay another fine and keep the bullshit
- 4:36going like they have done throughout history. I don't know
- 4:42how many times I have to say it, but I
- 4:44guess I'll say it a million more. If you're looking
- 4:47for bad guys in the story, when it comes to
- 4:49Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein, look no further than the financial sector,
- 4:55together with other transactions and investigators' reports. The documents underscore
- 4:59the central role UBS played in managing the finances of
- 5:03Epstein's chief accomplice, whose proximity to the convicted felon had
- 5:07been reported years before the wealth manager had taken her
- 5:11on as a client. Well, sam could be said about
- 5:14the Clintons. They know what Maxwell was, They didn't care.
- 5:17She was still invited to the wedding, wasn't she? She
- 5:20was still there in a place of prominence. Wasn't she?
- 5:23She was still friendly with all these people, wasn't she?
- 5:27None of them cared, Not UBS, not the Clintons, not
- 5:31jeff Bezos, nobody, UBS bank Jeffrey Epstein's associate Glenn Maxwell
- 5:37for years, and was behind the money that paid for
- 5:40her new Hampshire hideout where she was arrested. US Department
- 5:44of Justice document show and here's some key dates. July
- 5:48sixth Epstein arrested. July twenty second through the thirty first,
- 5:52UBS handles Maxwell's card payment, accepts six hundred thousand dollars
- 5:56of her funds from Barclays. August first, UBS tells Maxwell
- 6:01it will drop her as a client. August sixteenth, US
- 6:05Justice official subpoena UBS for information on Maxwell accounts. November twelfth,
- 6:11UBS transfers around eight million from Maxwell's account to husband's account.
- 6:17December thirteenth, tucked Away Home purchased his clothes twenty twenty.
- 6:24June first investigators question where Maxwell's UBS funds have gone.
- 6:28July second. Maxwell arrested October thirty first. UBS still holds
- 6:34four point one million of Maxwell and spouse's money. Accounting
- 6:38report shows the files shed a rare light on how
- 6:43banks deal with rich customers and can ignore some of
- 6:46the red flags that might disqualify a regular client, said
- 6:50Tom Kirschmeyer, a financial crime expert with the London School
- 6:53of Economics. Well, I don't have to go to fancy
- 6:56lads school to tell you that that's the case. I
- 7:01grew up my whole entire life being poor, paying the
- 7:04poor people's tax, dealing with the bullshit, getting charged a
- 7:07crazy ass rate, just like most of you, while these
- 7:11dirtbags were living it up, engaging in all kinds of
- 7:14insider trading, and god knows what else. So thank god
- 7:18for people like Tom Kirschmeyer from fancy lad school. Banks
- 7:22that are told of secret criminal inquiry as UBS was
- 7:25typically do everything they can to find publicly available information
- 7:29to justify holding up the suspects money. He said, well, yeah,
- 7:34they have to have a reason, right, you have to
- 7:36go before a judge and say, look, this is what's
- 7:38going on. This has been subpoenaed or frozen or whatever
- 7:42by the federal government, and we're doing our part. They
- 7:46can't arbitrarily do that. In the Southern District of New
- 7:51York subpoena, the US attorney told UBS the information was
- 7:55part of a criminal felony investigation, requesting it to keep
- 7:58the request secret in case the disclosure would impede the probe.
- 8:02The file show, so like if you get your email
- 8:06or whatever subpoenaed, you might not even know about it
- 8:09for a couple of years. You know. If the government's
- 8:12like looking into you, you don't get like a visit
- 8:15at your house. Hey, look we're looking into you. They
- 8:18just go about their business building their case, and when
- 8:21they think that they have enough to get you or
- 8:23to pigeonhole your ass, then they'll come talk to you.
- 8:26Epstein had died in jail days earlier, on August tenth,
- 8:29as he faced sex trafficking charges. UBS de client to
- 8:32comment on Maxwell or respond to Reuter's questions about why
- 8:36the bank processed the payment, saying that it does not
- 8:39speak about client related matters. In other words, we got
- 8:43caught with our pants down and our hand in the
- 8:46cookie jar. Maxwell was convicted in twenty twenty one and
- 8:54serving a twenty year prison sentence for recruiting and grooming
- 8:57teenage girls for sex, as well as for participate in
- 9:00the abuse of minor victims in some instances. Her lawyers
- 9:04have argued at the trial that you escape coded for
- 9:07Epstein's crimes. A spokesperson for the prison where she's staying
- 9:12said Maxwell would not comment. Of course she won't comment.
- 9:17She thinks her buddy Donnie Diddles is going to cut
- 9:20her a deal, and you know what, he just might.
- 9:24I don't put anything beyond this, dude. David Oscar Marcus,
- 9:29the criminal defense attorney who last month represented Maxwell in
- 9:32a deposition to the House Oversight Committee, declined to comment, Well,
- 9:36that's weird, considering that dude never knows when to shut up.
- 9:40Pretty odd that he's not running as fat yet pure.
- 9:43The pattern that we've seen from our investigations of Epstein
- 9:46and a lot of other high net worth criminals is
- 9:49that the banks look the other way because they know
- 9:51ultra wealthy clients can pack up and take their money
- 9:54across the street anytime they want, said Senator Ron Wyden,
- 9:58who has scrutinized the money that flows from Epstein's accounts.
- 10:03Did he scrutinize his own son's money? Probably a good
- 10:06place to start. No, your own son is asking for
- 10:09money from Jeffrey Epstein and you're up here yelling and
- 10:11screaming about everybody else. I would beat the brakes off
- 10:15my son. Oh. I don't care if he's an adult either.
- 10:18Meet me at the gym. Strap these gloves on. You're
- 10:21making my life difficult. Get this ass beaten. Glenn Maxwell
- 10:27wasn't just some minor accessory to Epstein's crimes. She was
- 10:30an essential part of his trafficking operation that reached all
- 10:33around the globe. And she's accused of participating and abuse herself,
- 10:36Wyden said, not accused, She was found guilty of it.
- 10:39What do you mean accused? There's no accusations here. This
- 10:44vile bipedal serpent was abusing girls. She was bringing girls
- 10:49into the belly of the beast, and she was partaking
- 10:51in the abuse herself. And I don't care if it
- 10:55was one girl or one million. The fact that she
- 10:59did it once makes her everything we said she was.
- 11:05While information on Epstein's financial dealings remains incomplete, the file
- 11:09show he maintained access to major Wall Street firms well
- 11:13after his two thousand and eight conviction. Deutsche Bank continued
- 11:16servicing Epstein's accounts in twenty nineteen, even after moving to
- 11:20cut Ties, while Morgan Stanley opened accounts for Epstein lining
- 11:24Truss as late of March of that year. Reuters has reported,
- 11:29so we're talking about the year he died. You have
- 11:31people like Morgan Stanley saying, you know what, We'll take
- 11:34your money. No problem. Park it here, buddy. He did
- 11:38his time. Nothing to see here. A bunch of scumbags.
- 11:42The late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and
- 11:46his jailed accomplist Glenn Maxwell used a host of global
- 11:50banks over the years, including before and after their legal
- 11:53troubles began. US Department of Justice file show. This list
- 11:57is based on a Reuter's analysis of documents in the
- 12:00files and is not exhaustive, and we're never going to
- 12:03know the full extent of Epstein's finances. We'll never know
- 12:07if this scoundrel was good at anything, it was hiding money.
- 12:11Maxwell was arrested by FBI agents forcing entry into the
- 12:15compound at the end of a half mile dirt driveway
- 12:18with no trespassing signs on the outskirts of Bradford, a
- 12:22small town known for its colonial white homes and horse farms.
- 12:26Maxwell used the name Janet and posed as a journalist
- 12:29who wants privacy to buy the house when she met
- 12:32with the realtor. According to court documents from a bell hearing, Yeah,
- 12:38journalist Janet more like jerk Off Janet. During her arrest,
- 12:44FBI agents discovered a mobile phone covered in aluminum foil
- 12:48to avoid being traced, and a security team staff by
- 12:51former British military members that had been hired to guard
- 12:54Maxwell during her stay there. The court document show just
- 12:58a normal gal, right, Just a normal person going through
- 13:01their life with a security detail and a gigantic bank
- 13:05account and hiding away in New Hampshire. Come on, nothing
- 13:09to see here, folks, Keep it moving. A document by
- 13:16federal US investigators probing Maxwell's money links to UBS to
- 13:19the New Hampshire hideout. The file, dated April twelfth, twenty
- 13:24twenty two, includes a flow chart detailing the wire transfers
- 13:28entitled three point thirty eight Washington Rode Bradford, New Hampshire,
- 13:32a reference to the address of her home tucked away.
- 13:35The document states that the information's based on US Treasury
- 13:39financial crime records and is marked sensitive. Well. Yeah, look,
- 13:43they had a whole investigation going, there is no doubt
- 13:45about it. And when they thought the iron was hot,
- 13:49that's when they struck and the skafuza Glenn Maxwell ended
- 13:53up in prison. It shows that UBS transferred nearly eight
- 13:59million dollars on November twelfth, twenty nineteen, from an account
- 14:03held for a Montepeler Trust, an entity set up by
- 14:06Maxwell as it's so called Grant hor Her then husband
- 14:10Scott Borgerson was one of the trustees. UBS record show
- 14:14the cash went to a ted A Meritrade account, of
- 14:17which Borgerson was a custodian. Oh the little tricks we
- 14:21picked up from Marpal Jeffy Huh. Days before the transfer,
- 14:26on November sixth, twenty nineteen, UBS was still in discussions
- 14:30with the FBI on documents who would send as requested
- 14:34by the Grand Jerry subpoena of August. Reuters could not
- 14:37establish if UBS alerted the authorities to the eight million
- 14:41dollar transfer. Probably not. Why would they do you really
- 14:47think ubs cared that they were moving money for Kline Maxwell.
- 14:52They knew what she was, they didn't give a shit.
- 14:55Banks operating in the US are obliged to inform the
- 14:57US Treasury of suspicious transaction related to a possible regulatory
- 15:03or legal violation within thirty days. Tedameritrade sent the money
- 15:08to a trust that was used to buy the house
- 15:10in Bradford, New Hampshire. Tedameritrade has since been taken over
- 15:14by Charles Schwab, which declined the comment, We're never going
- 15:18to get any comments from any of these people. It's
- 15:21not even worth asking. US authorities arrested Glen Maxwell at
- 15:26a one hundred and fifty six acre compound in New
- 15:29Hampshire in twenty twenty. Maxwell and Borgson's combined wealth was
- 15:34estimated at around twenty two and a half million as
- 15:37of October twenty twenty, according to her report filed to
- 15:41court in the Southern District of New York later that
- 15:43year by accountants hired by her lawyers at Cohen and Gressor.
- 15:48They found that much of her wealth could be traced
- 15:50to a twenty fifteen sale of a townhouse on the
- 15:54Upper East Side of Manhattan for fifteen million. You mean
- 15:58the house that Epstein paid for, gave her the whole
- 16:00flip that house cool. So Epstein's money that should have
- 16:04been seized. If this was a rico case, like it
- 16:06should have been, you catch it on. Yet it remains
- 16:13unclear how she came to own the house and what,
- 16:15if any due diligence UBS carried out When more than
- 16:18fourteen million went into her bank account in twenty sixteen,
- 16:22The accountants report stated the proceeds went to a UBS
- 16:26account and from there to other UBS accounts to buy properties.
- 16:30The Swiss lander held accounts with cash shares and other
- 16:34investments for Maxwell and designed her to relationship managers during
- 16:38her time as a customer. Document show at one point
- 16:42the bank was managing nineteen million for her, Reuters reported
- 16:45in February, so I would look for another lawsuit from
- 16:49the survivors focusing on UBS. That's definitely coming. Maxwell and
- 16:56Borgersen still held four point one million at UBS at
- 16:59the and of October twenty twenty, according to accountants. Borgerson
- 17:04didn't respond to a request for comment. Well, we know that
- 17:06Borgerson left her for some yoga instructor. Maxwell got ghosted
- 17:12by Borgerson, who had left his family previously for Maxwell,
- 17:16but then did the same thing to her for the
- 17:18yoga instructor. I mean, who would have guessed it? A
- 17:21guy cheats on his wife with you and then leaves
- 17:23you for another broad I'm shocked. Suspicious activity reports, which
- 17:27banks used to alert authorities to suspect money movement, shed
- 17:31some light on Maxwell's dealings. In the email correspondence between
- 17:35the FBI and Federal Law Enforcement in April twenty twenty two,
- 17:39the agencies discuss a SAR that suggests the New Hampshire
- 17:42property was purchased with proceeds from human trafficking. It's unclear
- 17:47which bank alerted regulators to the irregularity of the transaction.
- 17:52After her arrest, Ubs filed a SAR covering more than
- 17:55eighteen million worth of transfers from her accounts at the
- 17:58Swiss Bank to Borgerson between December twenty fourteen and July tenth,
- 18:03twenty twenty, according to an untitled and undated document summarizing
- 18:08several such filings. The US Justice and Treasury Departments declined
- 18:12to comment on Maxwell, her relationship with Ubs, and the
- 18:16home purchase, and the banking transactions. British bank Barclays also
- 18:21played an important role for Maxwell, according to the files,
- 18:24as the only lender she held money with outside the
- 18:27US from twenty seventeen. According to the report on her wealth, yeah,
- 18:32jess Day. Why do you think she was there? She
- 18:34was following jess Day who was over at Barclays. She
- 18:39had held two point four million at the bank at
- 18:41the end of twenty eighteen, The report shows. In the
- 18:45three weeks after Epstein's July sixth, twenty nineteen arrest, Ubs
- 18:49received more than six hundred thousand deposits from her Barclay's
- 18:53account as she rounded up money to pay for a
- 18:56credit card bill. Email exchanges show Barclay declined to comment
- 19:01on its dealings with Maxwell. It remains unclear how much
- 19:04money Maxwell has left. Talked Away has since changed hands,
- 19:08according to property records and real estate agents, and is
- 19:11set to be sold again four seasons. South BEA's International
- 19:15Realty describes it as a privacy lover's dream and it
- 19:19is what a beautiful property. I would love to have
- 19:22that property. Holy hell. The problem is Glenn Maxwell bought
- 19:28that property with funds that she received due to her
- 19:32role in Jeffrey Epstein's criminal enterprise. So the whole thing
- 19:36should have been seized at the time, every dollar should
- 19:38have been seized, and Maxwell should have been left indigen
- 19:42But of course that didn't happen, did it. And as
- 19:44far as UBS goes, I would be shocked to see
- 19:46them not get sued by the survivors. Now that this
- 19:50revelation's out there and that the information the documentation is
- 19:55here with it, it's rather obvious that UBS didn't give
- 19:58a shit and that they were in engaging in criminal
- 20:01activity when they were working with Maxwell. So I would
- 20:04expect them to get sued. And I also expect them
- 20:08to do the same thing that JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank,
- 20:10and Bank of America have done, and that's settle, because
- 20:13the last thing the financial sector wants to do when
- 20:16it comes to Jeffrey Epstein is get the discovery, all right, folks.
- 20:22That's going to do it for this one. All the
- 20:24information that goes with this episode can be found in
- 20:27the description box.
