- 0:00SPEAKER_03: Welcome to episode 82.
- 0:02SPEAKER_03: It is busy and Vegas is rocking.
- 0:05Sean McAllister: We chat with an entertainment executive who says the mask mandates are not affecting Vegas shows.
- 0:11Sean McAllister: Our conversation coming up.
- 0:13Dayna Roselli: Plus, we finally know where the Chippendales will perform.
- 0:16Dayna Roselli: The show has been closed for 17 months.
- 0:19Dayna Roselli: All the details coming up.
- 0:20Sean McAllister: And large-scale events in Las Vegas now have the green light to only allow vaccinated guests inside.
- 0:28Sean McAllister: And major conventions and sports teams already hopping on board.
- 0:32Dayna Roselli: Let's get right to it and spin that wheel.
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: Let's go to Vegas, baby.
- 0:40SPEAKER_03: Let's go to night.
- 0:46Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas Revealed.
- 0:48Sean McAllister: It's a new week and new major changes happening all across Las Vegas, and it's making national headlines.
- 0:56Sean McAllister: Thanks for being with us.
- 0:57Sean McAllister: Sean McAllister here along with Dana Roselli.
- 1:00Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 1:00Dayna Roselli: And you know, it seems like things are changing weekly when it comes to what kind of mandates we have up in place and what kind of restrictions we have.
- 1:08Dayna Roselli: And we know so many people that listen are interested to know what's happening now.
- 1:13Dayna Roselli: We can't guarantee that what's happening now will still be taking effect in a month, but for now, this is what's going on.
- 1:19Sean McAllister: And who knows what we talk about today may change tomorrow.
- 1:24Sean McAllister: So it's a very uh fluid situation.
- 1:27Dayna Roselli: Aaron Powell It all started with our governor having a press conference.
- 1:30Dayna Roselli: And when he had that press conference, he announced that like events and venues that have over 4,000 people will have the option to adopt this new policy, which is you only have to allow vaccinated guests inside.
- 1:44Dayna Roselli: And with that, that means everyone inside can take the mask off.
- 1:49Dayna Roselli: Because right now we have a mask mandate.
- 1:51Dayna Roselli: If you're indoors, you have to wear one.
- 1:54Sean McAllister: Right.
- 1:54Sean McAllister: So these major event producers, promoters have two options either make everybody wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status, or require that everyone is vaccinated and go mask-free.
- 2:10Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 2:10Dayna Roselli: So he gave this option, you know, so it doesn't mean like you have to do it.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: He's basically saying if this is what you want to do, and immediately Allegiant Stadium and the Raiders came out with a statement, I think it was like an hour after the press conference and said, Yep, we're doing this.
- 2:24Sean McAllister: And it took a lot of people by surprise.
- 2:26Sean McAllister: People were like, holy crap, the Raiders are really doing this.
- 2:31Sean McAllister: Now, to go to a Raiders game at Allegiant Stadium, you must be vaccinated.
- 2:38Sean McAllister: Which I mean, they're the first NFL team in the entire country, in the entire league, to require vaccinations to get into games.
- 2:47Sean McAllister: Right.
- 2:47Dayna Roselli: And the team's owner said, you know what, we'll give you a refund.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: Don't worry, you'll get your money back.
- 2:51Dayna Roselli: If you don't want to get vaccinated and you can't come to the game, we're not taking your money, you can resell, you can refund.
- 2:57Dayna Roselli: I mean, so he's he's serious about it.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: The one little interesting tidbit is they are also offering vaccines on site.
- 3:05Dayna Roselli: So here's a little workaround.
- 3:07Dayna Roselli: So you can go to a Legion Stadium, you can get a vaccine on site.
- 3:12Dayna Roselli: Well, then most people say, well, then you're not really fully vaccinated, so you shouldn't be allowed in.
- 3:17Dayna Roselli: But what they're doing is you can come in with a mask on.
- 3:20Dayna Roselli: So they're making an exception for those people.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: And I think it's all part of, I'm assuming, finding a way to get more people vaccinated.
- 3:29Sean McAllister: Right.
- 3:30Sean McAllister: And as you can imagine, there was kind of an uproar with uh season ticket holders who said, Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute.
- 3:37Sean McAllister: I already bought all my tickets for this season.
- 3:40Sean McAllister: You can't go changing the rules on me now.
- 3:42Sean McAllister: Well you can.
- 3:44Sean McAllister: Guess what?
- 3:44Sean McAllister: They are, but they're giving options either get vaccinated at the stadium or ahead of time, or you can uh decide to roll over your season ticket money to next season, and you won't lose your place in line as a season ticket holder to choose your seats and all that.
- 4:06Sean McAllister: So you can stay a season ticket holder, but you just won't be going to any games this season if you're not vaccinated.
- 4:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I think the governor, you know, wants to have people enjoy themselves while they're at these entertainment venues, these sport venues.
- 4:26Dayna Roselli: I think there's obviously been a lot of complaints from people that are vaccinated not enjoying wearing the mask again.
- 4:34Dayna Roselli: They feel like they did their part.
- 4:35Dayna Roselli: You're at a concert, it's hot, and uh most people want to take their mask off.
- 4:41Dayna Roselli: And so I think he's basically saying we want and we need, because we are a tourist city, people to have large events here and conventions, and we want people to enjoy that experience, and part of that might be not having to wear a mask.
- 4:57Sean McAllister: Well, and I think what it boils down to, a lot of people are saying, Oh, these are my my freedoms and my rights are being taken away because you you're only allowing vaccinated people to get inside of these events.
- 5:09Sean McAllister: Well, that's not the case.
- 5:11Sean McAllister: These are privileges that you have to be able to go to concerts and sporting events and big conventions.
- 5:19Sean McAllister: There's nothing in the Constitution that says that you have the right to go to any of these events, especially because they're put on by private companies.
- 5:28Sean McAllister: It comes down to doing the responsible thing for society as a whole, and by doing that, there are privileges that you have, i.e., going to these big events.
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: Well, and that's what people are saying.
- 5:42Dayna Roselli: I have a choice to not get vaccinated.
- 5:43Dayna Roselli: It's my choice.
- 5:44Dayna Roselli: And you do.
- 5:45Dayna Roselli: And then also the venues have a choice to say we only want vaccinated people in our venue.
- 5:51Dayna Roselli: So it's it is all about choice.
- 5:52Dayna Roselli: This is the part of it.
- 5:54Sean McAllister: And it's just like freedom of speech.
- 5:55Sean McAllister: You have the freedom to say what you want, but you don't have a choice over the consequences over what you say or what you do.
- 6:04Sean McAllister: So uh, you know, it's an issue that a lot of people are still debating, but we're seeing the floodgates open and there's more events that are catching on.
- 6:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah, a big part of our economy is at conventions.
- 6:15Dayna Roselli: Two major conventions just hopped on board as well.
- 6:18Dayna Roselli: Uh the National Association of Broadcasters hopped on board, and they are only allowing vaccinated attendees inside the convention center, and then CES, pretty much our biggest convention, they put out an email and a statement saying they're gonna do the same.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: So, you know, it's it's I have a feeling we're gonna see more and more of this.
- 6:39Sean McAllister: And there's a big music festival that's coming up here in Las Vegas as well.
- 6:43Sean McAllister: Life is beautiful, and they have said that you need a vaccination or a negative test 72 hours beforehand to get into the festival.
- 6:53Sean McAllister: And if you have a negative test, you still have to wear a mask if you're not vaccinated.
- 6:59Sean McAllister: So people are saying, well, how are you gonna police that?
- 7:03Sean McAllister: How are you gonna make sure that unvaccinated people wear masks?
- 7:07Sean McAllister: That's still up in the air.
- 7:09Sean McAllister: Um, but a lot of people are now moving toward vaccination mandates.
- 7:14Dayna Roselli: Right, and uh and much of that event is actually outdoors, so they're still they're still taking it seriously.
- 7:20Dayna Roselli: So everyone wants this to all come to an end.
- 7:22Dayna Roselli: Let's just be honest.
- 7:23Dayna Roselli: Everyone around the world, we want it over with.
- 7:25Dayna Roselli: And whatever we can do to get there, I think, you know, this is just what needs to happen.
- 7:31Dayna Roselli: But that's our thought on it.
- 7:32Dayna Roselli: We understand it, there's a lot of controversy, but you know what?
- 7:35Dayna Roselli: It's our podcast, and that's how we feel.
- 7:38Sean McAllister: And by the way, if you want to let everybody know that you need to be vaccinated before you come to Las Vegas, click on our show notes.
- 7:46Sean McAllister: There's a link there to our merchandise store, and we have some pretty fancy little shirts.
- 7:51Sean McAllister: Vax Before You Vegas.
- 7:53Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 7:53Sean McAllister: That's the message everybody needs to know.
- 7:55Dayna Roselli: In every color you could imagine.
- 7:57Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: Speaking of color, let's talk KISS, the rock band, right?
- 8:01Dayna Roselli: They announced a huge uh Las Vegas engagement at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood.
- 8:06Dayna Roselli: They're actually kicking this off New Year's Eve week with performances on Wednesday, December 29th, Friday, the 31st, which is New Year's Eve, and then Saturday, January 1st, and additional shows scheduled for like January 19th to February 5th.
- 8:19Dayna Roselli: So they got a bunch.
- 8:20Dayna Roselli: Tickets on sale as of August 20th.
- 8:22Sean McAllister: And Gene Simmons, in addition to being an artist on stage, is also an artist in the form of like painting on canvas, and he's got some of his artwork uh on display here in Las Vegas as well.
- 8:35Sean McAllister: Uh, someone else who's colorful is Adam Lambert.
- 8:38Sean McAllister: And let me tell you, when Adam Lambert announced his initial run of shows at the Venetian that are coming up, his Glamberts went crazy.
- 8:49Sean McAllister: Those are his fans, and there's good news there are more Adam Lambert shows coming your way.
- 8:55Sean McAllister: I know.
- 8:55Sean McAllister: Well, one show.
- 8:57Dayna Roselli: But that might be enough.
- 8:58Dayna Roselli: Still more.
- 8:58Dayna Roselli: There might be more after that.
- 8:59Dayna Roselli: Who knows?
- 9:00Dayna Roselli: More show.
- 9:01Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 9:02Dayna Roselli: So he announced five shows originally, and then he just added another one Wednesday, October 20th.
- 9:07Dayna Roselli: Okay, so add it, add that to your calendar.
- 9:09Dayna Roselli: Get online, get your tickets, um, and then we may see another one, like you said, coming soon.
- 9:14Sean McAllister: That's my mom's birthday.
- 9:15Sean McAllister: Maybe I'll have her come out here and go see Adam Lambert.
- 9:17Sean McAllister: Is she a glamber?
- 9:18Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 9:19Sean McAllister: She might be after she sees him.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he is very entertaining.
- 9:23Dayna Roselli: He's pretty incredible, you know, on stage.
- 9:25Dayna Roselli: I know, wasn't it you that said you saw him live?
- 9:28Sean McAllister: I saw him live with uh Queen.
- 9:31Sean McAllister: Right.
- 9:31Sean McAllister: And he was phenomenal.
- 9:33Sean McAllister: And I covered American Idol back in the day when I worked at a Fox station when he was on that show.
- 9:39Sean McAllister: And I mean, he's just a he's a great guy, and he's got great music.
- 9:44Sean McAllister: He has a new album out relatively recently.
- 9:47Sean McAllister: Um so he's always got new music.
- 9:49Sean McAllister: He's got his solo career, he's got his career as lead singer with Queen.
- 9:54Sean McAllister: So Adam Lambert is doing all the right stuff.
- 9:57Sean McAllister: I like him.
- 9:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he's a good guy.
- 9:59Dayna Roselli: All right, let's talk Chippendales.
- 10:00Dayna Roselli: We've been wondering where they were gonna perform.
- 10:02Dayna Roselli: You know, they've been like shut down and dark for 17 months now, and we weren't sure if they were gonna get back in the theater that they were in originally because we were hearing that they weren't, but now it's been announced they're gonna be back at the Rio starting September 1st.
- 10:17Dayna Roselli: So welcome back the Chippendales.
- 10:19Dayna Roselli: Obviously, a huge brand.
- 10:20Dayna Roselli: It's needed here.
- 10:21Dayna Roselli: We have lots of bachelorette parties, and and all the ladies like to go and see the Chippendales.
- 10:27Dayna Roselli: And guys.
- 10:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and guys.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: There's lots of guys in the audience as well.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: You're right.
- 10:31Dayna Roselli: Um, but something that we kind of took away from this was like, okay, I guess they're not bulldozing the Rio like we thought.
- 10:37Sean McAllister: I guess not.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: Penn and Teller are back, the Chippendales are back.
- 10:41Dayna Roselli: You know, there've been a lot of talk about them kind of getting rid of the Rio to make room for, I think, a baseball stadium, right?
- 10:46Sean McAllister: Yeah, there there has been talk about that for for years.
- 10:51Sean McAllister: Regardless, uh, that's not the news today.
- 10:54Sean McAllister: The Chippendales are back.
- 10:55Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 10:56Dayna Roselli: The Chippendales are back.
- 10:57Dayna Roselli: So congratulations.
- 10:58Dayna Roselli: Tickets on sale now.
- 11:00Dayna Roselli: Um, just it's a great night out, it's super fun.
- 11:03Dayna Roselli: I have a feeling you and I will we'll be there to check out the show, Sean, and then we'll we'll have our report.
- 11:07Sean McAllister: I have a feeling.
- 11:08Sean McAllister: And also, Chippendales have some uh competition over at the Sahara also.
- 11:13Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 11:14Sean McAllister: With Magic Mike Live opening up that show in a brand new venue.
- 11:19Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 11:19Dayna Roselli: And you know, I wasn't sure if it the shows had started yet because I somebody was asking me recently, and I thought, you know, no, they haven't, but they've been shooting like a reality show or a HBO is it HBO?
- 11:30Sean McAllister: I believe it's HBO.
- 11:31Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 11:31Sean McAllister: Shooting a reality show um about all about casting the guys for this new production at the Sahara.
- 11:39Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 11:39Dayna Roselli: So so yeah, so I knew that was going on.
- 11:41Dayna Roselli: So there's been shows that haven't exactly been open to the public, but they've been filming.
- 11:45Dayna Roselli: And now I went online and I think I saw right at the end of August, maybe the 27th, is when the shows kick up there, and you can get them on Ticketmaster.
- 11:53Sean McAllister: By the way, we might be going to uh one of those show tapings.
- 11:57Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 11:58Dayna Roselli: Oh good guy.
- 11:59Dayna Roselli: Oh, okay, cool.
- 12:00unknown: Great.
- 12:01Dayna Roselli: This is news to Dana.
- 12:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I didn't know that.
- 12:03Dayna Roselli: Well, I live right next door, so I'll just walk on over and meet you.
- 12:06Sean McAllister: Speaking of shows, uh, we were at an event recently and ran in to an entertainment executive here in Las Vegas, Alex Schechter, who works with Spy Entertainment.
- 12:18Sean McAllister: They produce a ton of shows here on the Las Vegas Strip.
- 12:21Dayna Roselli: Yes, you've got to listen to this interview.
- 12:22Dayna Roselli: We had a really interesting conversation with Alex.
- 12:26Dayna Roselli: So many people are wondering what's the state of entertainment in Las Vegas, and he really puts it in perspective.
- 12:32Dayna Roselli: Alex, I feel like every day in my inbox I'm getting a new show presented by Spy.
- 12:37Dayna Roselli: You guys have been busy, huh?
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know what?
- 12:39SPEAKER_03: Vegas has bounced back, and for SPY, it bounced back even more.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: That it seems like we've got we have uh three resident shows at the Excalibur.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: We're gonna have four resident shows at the Strat.
- 12:49SPEAKER_03: We've got some one-offs, including Sammy Hagar and the after party with Joey Vatone and Nick Carter.
- 12:54SPEAKER_03: It is busy and Vegas is rocking.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: So we at SPY are rocking along with it.
- 12:59Sean McAllister: And as entertainment started coming back here on the Las Vegas strip, it was announced that you guys were producing a lot of the entertainment at the Strat.
- 13:08Sean McAllister: How did that come to be and what can we expect moving forward?
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: So for years the Strat um had multiple shows, and then it seemed like it just went to just MJ Live, and they were reaching out, uh, the contract was expiring with the current company that was managing it, and they reached out to us and said, What can you guys bring?
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: And we were like, you know what?
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: We have just a repertoire of shows that we could bring to the table.
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: Plus, we want to look at doing a whole like renovation of the room and bringing it more modern, like we had done with Thunderland.
- 13:42SPEAKER_03: And so they Strat loved what we had to say and they gave us the chance to take over and manage it.
- 13:48SPEAKER_03: So it's been it's a been a great marriage so far.
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: The shows here are doing fantastic, and we're bringing just some really different entertainment to this to the strat.
- 13:56Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I noticed even with Sammy, it was like sold out, and then you had to add shows, right?
- 13:59Dayna Roselli: I mean, so they're doing really well too.
- 14:01Dayna Roselli: Shows are selling, which is positive.
- 14:02SPEAKER_03: Yes, so the the funny thing about Sammy was it was literally just to his fans presale, and all four shows sold out.
- 14:11SPEAKER_03: The public never even got a chance.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: We added two more, the public got about three minutes before they were gone.
- 14:17SPEAKER_03: So Sammy just sold clean, and the same thing with After Party.
- 14:20SPEAKER_03: Within the first week at the Venetian, all the tickets are gone.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: People are starving for entertainment.
- 14:26SPEAKER_03: They've been locked up long enough, they've ran through everything on Netflix, they want some live entertainment, you know.
- 14:31Sean McAllister: And obviously, you know how hard the entertainment industry across the board was hit during COVID, especially here in Las Vegas.
- 14:40Sean McAllister: How important do you think it is, and what kind of message does it send to performers and producers that there is such demand and and really such a need for entertainment?
- 14:52SPEAKER_03: We always hear that, like during depressing times like the Great Depression, movie theaters did well at the time.
- 14:58SPEAKER_03: People need that outlet.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: So it was so encouraging.
- 15:02SPEAKER_03: Because we were skeptical.
- 15:03SPEAKER_03: We were like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 15:04SPEAKER_03: You know, with the show like Thunder, that is very interactive.
- 15:08SPEAKER_03: Very, very interactive.
- 15:10SPEAKER_03: I mean, I wouldn't know.
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: No, no, no, of course not.
- 15:12SPEAKER_03: Go wash your hands.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: I was gonna say Dana knows.
- 15:14SPEAKER_03: Dana knows exactly how interactive.
- 15:16SPEAKER_03: No, with a show like that that's interactive, we were like, wait a minute, are people gonna stay away and be like, yeah, I'm not ready to do it yet.
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: I'm not ready to go out, I'm not ready to be in the closed corridors and have sweaty hot men on me, you know.
- 15:27SPEAKER_03: But no, they are coming out, and we are doing better numbers now than ever.
- 15:31SPEAKER_03: So it's amazing.
- 15:32Dayna Roselli: That is amazing.
- 15:33Dayna Roselli: And you're also celebrating milestones.
- 15:35Dayna Roselli: The Bee Gees just did their 3,000th performance, right?
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: 10 years and 3,000 shows for the Australian Bee Gees at the Excalibur.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: I mean, that's amazing when you think about it.
- 15:45SPEAKER_03: Some shows, you know, go 10 shows or 10 weeks, and this is 10 years, 3,000 shows, and it's just a great that just takes you right back to a better time of bell bottoms and disco and light up dance floors, and people love the reminisce about that time.
- 15:58Sean McAllister: So and we always see Las Vegas evolving over the years.
- 16:04Sean McAllister: Are there any trends that you're seeing?
- 16:06Sean McAllister: Is there any evolution in the entertainment industry in terms of the types of shows that are coming here or the way that the shows are being presented?
- 16:15SPEAKER_03: I think you're gonna notice that, like you said, I think it goes through cycles.
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: I think at one point it seemed like we'll call it like the impersonators like Danny Gans, and there were all these impressionists that were, you know, taking over.
- 16:26SPEAKER_03: Then it became obviously Cirque shows, and that that still goes on.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: And then it became like um magicians, and you saw all these magic shows, and right now I think it's the time of headliners.
- 16:37SPEAKER_03: It's the Katy Perry, it's the Bruno Mars, it's the Cher, it's the it's the uh Carrie Underwood that are coming here.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: It's it seems like I would say we're in the age of the headliner right now, but people still, if they're not gonna spend that kind of money, they still want a good entertainment value, and that's what we at Spy provide: a great entertainment value at a great price.
- 16:56Dayna Roselli: And one last question I'm gonna let you go, because we do have a lot of people um that visit Las Vegas and they're always curious, like what is it like with the masks on there?
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: I mean, it doesn't seem, does it seem to affect shows at all, or people just come en masked and they're still buying tickets and no one's saying anything?
- 17:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't feel that it's affecting the sales at all, and and it's not really affecting the um the show any.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: I this is what happened.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: When we first came back with Thunder and we put them in the mass, I thought to myself, well, this is gonna be the most interesting thing.
- 17:23SPEAKER_03: But about two minutes into it, you forget that they have the mask on and you're just looking at the body parts anyways, and that's not the part you're looking at, so it doesn't really matter.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: But you notice it but your mind just sort of adjusts that that's the new norm, and you don't even think about it.
- 17:37unknown: True.
- 17:38SPEAKER_03: All right, good to know, good to know.
- 17:39Dayna Roselli: Alex, thank you.
- 17:40Sean McAllister: Thanks, Alex.
- 17:44Dayna Roselli: Interesting to get that insider perspective.
- 17:47Dayna Roselli: We often get questions about, you know, how is the entertainment going in Las Vegas?
- 17:51Dayna Roselli: And from what you and I see, Sean, I mean, we, you know, we attend shows, we interview a lot of the performers, but we don't really know what's going on behind the scenes.
- 18:01Sean McAllister: Right.
- 18:01Sean McAllister: And we always hope that things are going well.
- 18:04Sean McAllister: So it was great to hear straight from Alex that things really are uh turning around really well for Las Vegas Entertainment.
- 18:12Sean McAllister: Uh, what do you say we get to our tips, Dana?
- 18:18Dayna Roselli: This first tip has to do with our friend and Las Vegas resident, Debbie Gibson.
- 18:22Dayna Roselli: She was very popular on one of our past podcasts.
- 18:26Dayna Roselli: That podcast is still our top podcast to date.
- 18:29Sean McAllister: Yeah, episode 68, by the way, if you want to go back and listen to our full conversation with Debbie.
- 18:34Sean McAllister: But she has uh some exciting new news in addition to her Vegas shows.
- 18:41Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 18:41Dayna Roselli: She has a new album that just came out, okay?
- 18:44Dayna Roselli: And it dropped on August 20th, a Friday.
- 18:47Dayna Roselli: It's available everywhere.
- 18:48Dayna Roselli: She's been working on this for a long time, and this is her first pop album in 20 years, Sean.
- 18:56Sean McAllister: That's incredible.
- 18:56Sean McAllister: I mean, and everybody knows the name Debbie Gibson.
- 19:00Sean McAllister: I mean, you you can almost pinpoint moments growing up when Debbie's music was a part of what was going on in your life.
- 19:09Dayna Roselli: That's so true.
- 19:10Dayna Roselli: You know, uh you're always like, I know that song, oh, I remember that song, or this brings me back here.
- 19:14Dayna Roselli: But we chatted with Debbie on podcast number 68, and we talked to her about her new music and this new album.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: The last 10 to 20 years of my life has been very colorful, very relatable.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: I've lived through a lot of the things health issues.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: My mom and I parted ways in business.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: I've had monumental relationships, and so there's been a lot of stuff, real stuff to write about.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: And so to feel that feeling through this music is really exciting.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: It just feels like I'm at a beginning again.
- 19:53Sean McAllister: Really happy for Debbie that this new album is out.
- 19:56Sean McAllister: And by the way, uh, she has collaborated with another fantastic musician, DJ Ashba, who was a guitarist in Guns N' Roses while they were on one of their most recent tours.
- 20:10Sean McAllister: Uh, and he's an incredible guy based here in Las Vegas who's kind of transitioned from, you know, guitar music and rock music into the EDM world.
- 20:20Sean McAllister: And so he collaborated with Debbie on uh some of the more EDM sounding tracks on her album.
- 20:26Dayna Roselli: He did, and it was nice to see him post uh Instagram about her new music coming out the other day, too.
- 20:31Dayna Roselli: So Debbie's new album, it's called The Body Remembers, available everywhere.
- 20:35Dayna Roselli: You can catch her at the Venetian with Joey McIntyre starting August 26th, and through that weekend, they also have shows scheduled for September.
- 20:43Sean McAllister: And I know uh in one of Debbie's more recent music videos for her song Girls Night Out, she had a drag queen who is part of that video shoot.
- 20:54Sean McAllister: Uh, Elliot with two T's.
- 20:56Sean McAllister: If you watch RuPaul's Drag Race, Elliot was on the most recent season of Drag Race, appeared in Debbie's music video.
- 21:04Sean McAllister: And uh, you know, drag queens and drag brunches are a big thing in Las Vegas.
- 21:09Dayna Roselli: They sure are popular.
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: And I recently went to a drag brunch, and I'm getting a lot of questions online about the experience.
- 21:16Dayna Roselli: So I wanted to do this as a tip.
- 21:18Dayna Roselli: I went to the drag brunch at the garden, which is semi-new.
- 21:22Sean McAllister: Yeah, it opened up in 2020, uh the back end of 2020, I believe.
- 21:27Sean McAllister: So it relatively new, especially for people who are coming into Las Vegas for the first time in a little bit.
- 21:34Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 21:34Dayna Roselli: So they have two times on Sundays that they do brunches, 11 a.m.
- 21:38Dayna Roselli: and 2 p.m.
- 21:39Dayna Roselli: And so this is how it works, all right?
- 21:40Dayna Roselli: So so get your pen and paper out.
- 21:42Dayna Roselli: So you you sign up for one of them.
- 21:44Dayna Roselli: It's$150 for two people.
- 21:46Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 21:47Dayna Roselli: So that's$75 per person.
- 21:48Sean McAllister: Right.
- 21:49Dayna Roselli: And you get bottomless mimosas and you get an entree, and then you get the show.
- 21:55Dayna Roselli: And I had a lot of people online asking me, is it worth the price?
- 21:58Dayna Roselli: Because some people feel it might be a little.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: Pricey.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: But here's what I have to say about that.
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: You have to, it's worth the price if you're ready to have some fun.
- 22:08Dayna Roselli: If you think you're gonna go to a you know Sunday breakfast or Sunday brunch and just like catch up with your friends, it's not really that kind of brunch.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: It's go in, have some drinks, order some food, get ready for loud music, fun performances, uh games with some of the people that are there.
- 22:28Dayna Roselli: There was a little booty shaking contest.
- 22:30Dayna Roselli: I mean, you gotta get ready to have fun.
- 22:31Dayna Roselli: If you're ready to have fun, it's the best$75 you've ever spent.
- 22:36Sean McAllister: So you need to wake up ready to party on a Sunday morning.
- 22:38Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 22:39Dayna Roselli: Or if you want to go to the 2 p.m., you can go to that too, mid-afternoon, you know?
- 22:43Dayna Roselli: So I mean, yeah, I mean, that's my best advice there because it's just not like a casual brunch.
- 22:48Dayna Roselli: It's it's a party, and you gotta be ready to do that and want to do that.
- 22:52Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, it was a great time.
- 22:54Dayna Roselli: All the the drag queens were great, uh, the music was fun, and I mean, everyone was into it, cheering and clapping, and it was so much fun.
- 23:03Sean McAllister: And the garden just has such a a great atmosphere to begin with.
- 23:08Sean McAllister: I know uh people who are going down there all the time for a a night out or for brunch.
- 23:14Sean McAllister: There's always great guests who are appearing at the garden as well, so there's always an attraction.
- 23:19Dayna Roselli: Yes, and they've done a nice job with the inside as well.
- 23:23Dayna Roselli: Uh, ran into Eduardo, the owner, and he's super excited uh to have this spot.
- 23:29Dayna Roselli: But he also told me, and we'll talk about that on upcoming podcasts, he's got two other places that he's gonna open in Las Vegas, one of them a piano bar, and it's actually opening, I think, within the month.
- 23:39Sean McAllister: Oh, I love piano bars.
- 23:41Sean McAllister: We'll need to have Eduardo come and sit down with us.
- 23:43Sean McAllister: That would be great.
- 23:44Dayna Roselli: And then our final tip, Sean, you had your big debut on Trending Vegas.
- 23:49Dayna Roselli: This is a show that it's put on by the city.
- 23:52Dayna Roselli: Our friend Melissa Dudon hosts it.
- 23:54Sean McAllister: Right.
- 23:54Dayna Roselli: And I've been on it before, and you were invited to be on the show and talk about trending topics for the week.
- 24:01Dayna Roselli: How did it go?
- 24:02Sean McAllister: It it went great.
- 24:04Sean McAllister: So, Trending Vegas, this is a show that you'll find on Channel 2 here in Las Vegas.
- 24:09Sean McAllister: It's KCLV, it's run by uh the city of Las Vegas, and we talked about obviously the big news was the vaccine mandates.
- 24:20Sean McAllister: They were just rolling out.
- 24:21Sean McAllister: It was the night before when all of this news broke with the Raiders announcing it and conventions.
- 24:28Sean McAllister: So that was a big topic of conversation, and of course, the online reaction to those announcements.
- 24:36Sean McAllister: Also, uh, we talk about the water shortage that's really bad here in Las Vegas.
- 24:41Sean McAllister: For the first time ever, the federal government has declared a water shortage out here in the West, which really is going to impact Las Vegas.
- 24:49Sean McAllister: And we talk about what the city of Las Vegas is doing to really cut down on the amount of water that's being used here.
- 24:56Sean McAllister: And the city is doing a great job with that.
- 24:59Dayna Roselli: And we can watch the show online too, right, on YouTube and also on their website.
- 25:03Dayna Roselli: So if you don't live in Las Vegas, you gotta see Sean on Trending Vegas.
- 25:07Sean McAllister: Yeah, and the City of Las Vegas YouTube page.
- 25:09Sean McAllister: Uh, we also talk about the entertainers who were at the Raiders' first preseason home game, which I ended up going to super last minute.
- 25:19Sean McAllister: Um it was really great, and you can see everything that we talked about on Trending Vegas.
- 25:27Sean McAllister: Just look up City of Las Vegas on YouTube.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: Perfect.
- 25:31Dayna Roselli: And coming up next week, we are interviewing Carlos Santana, so we look forward to that.
- 25:36Dayna Roselli: He has had you know so many residencies here in Las Vegas, and he's returning to the House of Blues.
- 25:41Sean McAllister: And by the way, he was the halftime performer at the Raiders preseason game.
- 25:46Sean McAllister: So he's a big Raiders fan, too.
- 25:48Sean McAllister: So we'll talk all about that.
- 25:49Dayna Roselli: And then Sean and I are also going to check out I don't want to say it's a new bar at the win, but they've renamed and rebranded one of the popular lounges at the win Las Vegas.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: So Sean and I are going to taste some bites and also taste a couple of the cocktails, and we'll talk about that next week as well.
- 26:07Sean McAllister: Yeah, I guess you could call it a sip and see, right?
- 26:10Dayna Roselli: Right, and it's in the afternoon, right?
- 26:11Dayna Roselli: I know, which is great.
- 26:12Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: From two to three.
- 26:14Sean McAllister: Still make my bedtime.
- 26:16Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 26:17Dayna Roselli: I'll be heading to the wind to see my favorite comedian, Sebastian Manaskelko, on Friday night.
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: Well, the podcast will post after I see him, but we'll talk about that next week too.
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: He's hilarious, has a huge following, and I look so forward to seeing him at the win.
- 26:31Dayna Roselli: He's been doing shows there, you know, here and there and coming back.
- 26:34Dayna Roselli: And he did a lot of shows in their kind of like back garden area, like during COVID.
- 26:39Dayna Roselli: Like when it was really, you know, they had done this, like when you had to have the separation.
- 26:43Dayna Roselli: They had a great setup outside, and he was doing a lot of like uh corporate functions and and personal private shows.
- 26:50Dayna Roselli: So anyway, look forward to seeing him next week as well.
- 26:53Dayna Roselli: And we hope you have a great week.
- 26:55Sean McAllister: Yeah, we do.
- 26:55Sean McAllister: And a reminder down in our show notes, there is also a link to our PayPal account if you decide that you'd like to help support what we do here on Vegas Revealed.
- 27:05Dayna Roselli: Take it away, Captain.
- 27:07Sean McAllister: On behalf of the flight crew, thank you for flying with us and have a pleasant day.
- 27:11Sean McAllister: Let's go to bed.
- 27:13Sean McAllister: Let's stay away.
- 27:15Sean McAllister: Let's go today, baby.
- 27:17Sean McAllister: Let's go back.
