Transcript
- 1:00Y'all welcome today's show. Continuing on our Marian theme today, as I promised
- 1:07yesterday, I'm go to begin discussing a couple of articles written by a priest
- 1:11with whom I communicate on the Catholicism Rocks website. His name is Father actually
- 1:19that is at h L. E. Y Father Jonathan. Actually, these
- 1:26articles are excellent and I'm going to go through one today and when tomorrow.
- 1:34If you want to explore more in Catholic teachings about the Blessed Virgin Mary,
- 1:41it's a bass field. I mean, there are literally hundreds of books written
- 1:47over two thousand years. I mean the very first icon or painting I guess
- 1:53you would say, of the Blessed Virgin Mary I believe was actually painted by
- 1:59Saint Luke in Saint Mary Major Basilica in Rome. I mean Catholics Christians.
- 2:07There was no Christian that wasn't Catholic for the first thousand plus years of the
- 2:13Church. And the Orthodox have the same veneration and respect for the Blessed Virgin
- 2:21Mary as Catholics. Their iconography is probably even more vast. So all Christians
- 2:29prayed to Mary and respected the Blessed Virgin Mary and acknowledged her as the Mother
- 2:35of God with a very special role as the Queen of Heaven, the most
- 2:40holy and powerful of all the saints. Until the mid late fourteen hundreds.
- 2:49And let's put that in context. America has not even been around three hundred
- 2:52years yet, not even two hundred and fifty. Seriously, and I mean
- 3:00we still gosh, America is such a young country. And of course we
- 3:07still look to the Constitution, the Declaration, and we know who the founding
- 3:10followers were, and we know what this country was founded on. Certainly Christians
- 3:16in the two and three hundreds knew exactly what the apostles taught. I can
- 3:23go back and show you the early church fallows, but I've already done that
- 3:25in my two or three part series on Catholic teachings about the Saints. Yes,
- 3:32the Blessed Virgin Marria was highly respected, highly honored, and Christians prayed
- 3:38to saints from day one. In fact, the first recorded prayer, the
- 3:45one that we have the old well, the two we have the oldest evidence
- 3:47for, was a prayer to the Blessed Virgin Marian Greek from I think about
- 3:53the three hundreds, and a prayer to Saint Joseph from like the two hundreds.
- 3:58You know, Saint Joseph during Jesus's life, and so for the Church
- 4:03to acknowledge Saint Joseph as a saint is because Jesus told the Apostles about Saint
- 4:10Joseph. Veneration or prayers to or respect for what, however you want to
- 4:15put it. Saint Joseph has probably been practiced since the very founding of Christianity.
- 4:23The Blessed Virgin Mary lived several decades after Jesus. She lived with Saint
- 4:27John, so prayers to her started a little bit later. But if you
- 4:33want to look into it, there are hundreds of books literally throughout every single
- 4:40decade of Christian history from the earliest church fathers, at least from I guess
- 4:46Saint Justin Martyr, who was what around I think he was martyred in about
- 4:53two hundred AD. He was over one hundred years old. He was,
- 4:58if I remember correctly, he was baptized and confirmed by Saint Peter. I
- 5:02mean, this is, you know, this is the unbroken lineage. So
- 5:08when a Protestant says to me, why the Christians pray to the saints,
- 5:11well, I could just simply say well, they always have, they have
- 5:14since the Apostles. Who do you think you are to question it? Do
- 5:18you think you know better than the you know, the Apostles, the Twelve
- 5:23Apostles and Saint Paul. Do you think you know better than the early church
- 5:28fathers, Pope, Saint Clement of Rome, Saint Justin Martyr, Saint Irenaeus,
- 5:31men who lived and died for the faith and actually knew the Apostles?
- 5:36Do you think you know better than the greatest minds, the holiest men of
- 5:41all times, Saint Augustine, Saint Thomas Aquinas, and the other doctors of
- 5:46the church. Seriously, who do you think you are to come up two
- 5:50thousand years later and suddenly start finding fault with the practice of all Christians throughout
- 6:00the history of Christianity for two thousand years, all Catholics and Orthodox and most
- 6:06Anglicans for two thousand years, all of Christianity for about fifteen hundred years.
- 6:13Seriously, who do you think you are? You know better than those who
- 6:16actually learn from Jesus? You know better than those who actually learn from those
- 6:21who learn from Jesus. I mean that's pretty darn arrogant. Actually, it's
- 6:30pretty making Some great assumptions. And in the Catholic Church there we've kind of
- 6:39chied each other when when someone's criticized the pope, you think you're more Catholic
- 6:43than the Pope. Well, I would have to say to you, do
- 6:46you think you're more Christian than the Apostles, Saint John, Saint Luke,
- 6:51who had great respect for the Blessed Virgin Mary? You think you're more Christian
- 6:59than the martyrs who were slaughtered in the first few hundred years of the Church,
- 7:05who set up icons and prayed to Mary in the catacombs, the tombs
- 7:12of Rome, or the caves of the first churches in Turkey and Syria and
- 7:17throughout the region of the Middle East. Actually, your arrogance is based in
- 7:26ignorance. And the more you read the writings of the first Christians, the
- 7:32more you're going to realize that your Protestant church bears very little resemblance to the
- 7:38Church of the first Christians. You get the DDK, and you're going to
- 7:41realize the first Christians were Catholic and they were receiving the Eucharist, and you're
- 7:46not. And Jesus said, if you don't eat of my flesh and drink
- 7:48of my blood, you have no life in you. Reading the Early Church
- 7:54Fathers led me to become Catholic, and I will dare you to read the
- 8:01first say four hundred years. Read the Anti the anti Anti Nicean Fathers,
- 8:11those who wrote before the Nicean creed which we all profess, and see what
- 8:16the earliest Christians believed. You can find their rights online. You can find
- 8:20them in any university library, probably any municipal library. You can buy them.
- 8:26Certainly use copies have been around for a very long time. You don't
- 8:31have to take my word for it. Read what the first Christians wrote,
- 8:35and they wrote voluminously. The very first volume of the Early Church Fathers,
- 8:41the Anti Nicean Fathers, is around seven hundred pages. It's just the first
- 8:48volume. It only covers about what six maybe six Pope Saint Clement of Rome,
- 8:54who was the third Pope, Saint Polycarp, who was a great Christian
- 9:01martyr, Saint Ignatius, Saint Barnabas who was very likely with Paul in the
- 9:11Bible or a student of Barnabas who was with Paul in the Bible. Saint
- 9:18Justin Martyr, another great martyr who explained Christianity to the Greeks and the Romans
- 9:24and all that, and converted many Jews to Christianity, and then was slaughtered
- 9:28by the Romans. Saint Irenaeus who wrote exhaustively against the heresies of his era,
- 9:41many of which, even though he struck them down in about two hundred
- 9:45and fifty two seventy a d with logic and the Bible are you will find
- 9:52in Protestant churches now many heresies that have been condemned. I'm just gonna challenge
- 10:00you, if you are a Protestant, I don't doubt your faith. I
- 10:05know you love God. That's not the point, Okay. I Am not
- 10:09trying to take your faith away from you. But you hate Catholics. You
- 10:13think Catholics got everything wrong. Go back and read the earliest writings of Christianity
- 10:22right when the Bible leaves off. Start with the DDAK, which is the
- 10:26Teachings of the Twelve and then begin reading the early Church Fathers. And you're
- 10:31going to find a church that you don't recognize as your own. You will
- 10:35find a church that, if you know much about the Catholic Church, is
- 10:37the Catholic Church unchanged, unaltered, unbroken from the very moment Jesus said to
- 10:45Saint Peter, You're the rock, and I found my church upon you,
- 10:50and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. But before we get
- 10:54into that, let's start with the radio replies, as they always do.
- 11:00The progressive socialist liberal who's questioning the priests, the secularists what is called says,
- 11:07you cannot face life unaided, and reliance upon God SAPs self reliance and
- 11:13initiative, and must develop the weakling. That was Yes, it's a very
- 11:20progressive ideal. It was much preached by the Nazis. They said Christianity makes
- 11:28man weak. Well, they answer him. The religious man knows that he
- 11:33cannot face life unaided, but that is not to his detriment. We did
- 11:37not ridicule a child at school who cannot face the problem of mathematics the help
- 11:41of a master. If God needed help, he would be imperfect. But
- 11:46man is not God. He is very conscious of limitation, conscious of limitation,
- 11:52and if he wishes to behave as if he were God, quite self
- 11:56sufficient and capable of all things, he denies the truth of his limitation.
- 12:01The man that realizes that he did not make the universe, which anyway he
- 12:05cannot stop or rearrange is nearer the truth, and behaves reasonably in asking the
- 12:11perfect being who made him to preserve him from the mistakes and frailties of his
- 12:15own imperfection and imperfect beings should behave as if limited and not supremely perfect.
- 12:22Nor does religion self man's sap man's self reliance and initiative. These he uses
- 12:30to the full, and then he asks the additional help of God. If
- 12:33a man employs extra help in his businesses, he's sapping his self reliance.
- 12:37Must he do everything himself? No man can do everything. God helps those
- 12:41who help themselves, but he expects men to turn to Him where they cannot
- 12:46help themselves. This secures full personal initiative and help, and the hope of
- 12:52God to supply for one's essential deficiencies. As for the developing of weaklings,
- 12:56read the history of the early Christians in the days of Nero and the Roman
- 13:01persecution. For the love of God and the help of God, children face
- 13:05the reality of torture and suffering before which strong men quailed. The irreligious man
- 13:11is the weakling, shirking the duty of rendering to God what is due to
- 13:15God. Shirking the humility of admitting that he is not infinitely perfect and shirking
- 13:22the greatest reality of life. Very true, Very true. I just mentioned
- 13:26Saint Justin martyr, Saint polycarp. If you read the stories of the martyrs,
- 13:33you will see men of more strength and conviction than you could ever imagine,
- 13:37and women and even children. You know, it's so ridiculous. The
- 13:46things were taught in school, you know, if you go to well,
- 13:48I mean I began to learn high school, and then in college. You
- 13:52know, they wanted me to read Nietzsche and all this, and you know
- 13:56what they didn't tell me all these humanist philosophers, all these progressives, these
- 14:07great thinkers that spawned the the ideologies of progressivism, socialism, communism, liberalism,
- 14:16humanism, atheism, etc. Yeah, I mean you have him ended
- 14:24up insane in mental institutions. Yeah, look that up next time someone throws
- 14:31you a Nietzsche quote. Oh that sounds profound, it sounds really good.
- 14:37But the guy who said it ended up in a mental institution, completely insane.
- 14:43Now they'd ever give you the end of the story, do they?
- 14:46They tell you about the Great Revolution in France, I'll tell you how many
- 14:54people were slaughtered I mean to the point that the streets ran, you know,
- 14:58almost knee deep in blood from the guillotine. They killed all the priests,
- 15:05monks and nuns. They killed the property owners, they killed the business
- 15:09owners, They killed the college professors, they killed the politicians, they killed
- 15:13everybody. Salmon Soviet, you know, the Communist Revolution in Russia's the horrors
- 15:22of the Communist Revolution in China would, if we're taught, would be enough
- 15:28for people to reject that ideology. But they don't teach you that, do
- 15:31they do They you're gonna sit through a college class and you're gonna read marks
- 15:35and ingles, and you're gonna read mao and okay, maybe you'll read from
- 15:41Shiguavera. Right, Do they tell you that scheg Wavera was a racist who
- 15:46hated black people and enjoyed killing homosexuals. Probably not. You know that radical
- 15:54student wearing the scheik Wavera shirt, ask him give him a quote from Schegulvera
- 15:58about the how animalistic he believed black people to be and unworthy of life.
- 16:07They didn't teach you that part of the story, did they. They don't
- 16:11teach you the part of a lot of the story of the Protestant Reformation,
- 16:15so called Reformation. Either I guarantee that guarantee that you start looking into it
- 16:22and you realize, yeah, Martin Luther wasn't a really good guy at all.
- 16:26He wasn't really mentally stable. He suffered from manic depression and extreme irrational
- 16:33fears, and was an alcoholic and really not someone you would want to base
- 16:41your religion upon. Meanwhile, the Catholic Church, founded by Jesus, who
- 16:47said the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it, still stands on,
- 16:52changed for two thousand years. Fifty thousand or so Protestant denominations, each of
- 17:00which have a different doctrine and theology, each of which teach different things,
- 17:03disagreeing with each other enough to be distinct denominations, all only less than five
- 17:15hundred years old, most less than fifty years old. One church founded by
- 17:19Jesus teaching the same thing from the beginning to now one truth which you think
- 17:26got it right. So father actually says in his article, which you can
- 17:36find on Catholicism rocks dot com. And if you're listening to this podcast,
- 17:41I'd like to invite you to come to the Catholicism Rocks forums. I post
- 17:45Sarah, I'm actually a moderator of the forums, and we need more people
- 17:49to join. We need to breathe a little life into this. It's a
- 17:52friendly place. There's just not enough people who post, so first of all,
- 17:55I want to encourage you to do that. Father actually is one who
- 17:57does post, and he wrote this article, the Glorious Power of One.
- 18:04Hail Mary. You know, as I mentioned yes and yesterday's show, the
- 18:07prayer Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with THEE. Bless
- 18:11her at thou among women, and bless the fruit of thy womb. Jesus,
- 18:15Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now at the
- 18:17hour of our death. Is entirely biblical. You know. The archangel Rafriel
- 18:22said to her, Hall full of grace. It's home, Mary, full
- 18:26of grace. The Lord is with Thee. Saint Elizabeth said, blessed art
- 18:33thou among women, and blesses the fruit of thy womb. We just add
- 18:37to that the reality of knowing that Jesus is that Mary is Jesus's mother,
- 18:41is the Mother of God by every definition, and we ask her to pray
- 18:45for us now and at the hour of our death, which is what Christians
- 18:48do. We ask each other to pray for each other, and the Saints
- 18:52are more alive in heaven than on earth. So every Christian, Catholic or
- 18:57Protestant Protestants should have no qualms and praying the hell Mary. In fact,
- 19:03praying the hell Mary used to be very much a part of Anglican tradition before
- 19:07they got all woke and modernized. So Father actually wrote about the power of
- 19:18this prayer. He says, it's important. So important is this prayer that
- 19:22Saint Thomas Aquinas preached forty continuous days in Rome on just the hell Mary?
- 19:30Is that not amazing? St? Thomas Aquinas, recognized by a Catholics and
- 19:34Protestants alike as one of the greatest saints, minds, theologians, doctrinal writers
- 19:42of all time, preached forty continuous days on just the hell Mary. Saint
- 19:52Alfonsis Laguri wrote in his book The Glories of Mary that where were he in
- 19:56Heaven, he would be most pleased return to earth just to play pray one
- 20:00hell Mary. Saint don Bosco said, all my work began with a simple
- 20:07hell Mary for our ladies help. Sat don Bosco was one of the greatest
- 20:11religious writers of all time again, recognized and honored by both Catholics and Protestants,
- 20:19Saint Louis de Montfort wrote, St. Louis de Montfort de Montfort,
- 20:23Okay, I don't pronounce French well, even though I'm half French. Okay,
- 20:27just I'm bad at it. I filled French twice in high school,
- 20:32mainly because he forced me to take it. You know, if they hadn't
- 20:36enforced me, I probably would have enjoyed it. I actually taught myself Latin
- 20:41and enjoyed it. It was fun I had. You know, I was
- 20:45never a good institutional student. Let's just put it that way. Me and
- 20:49public education were always at odds. I just wanted to be in the woods,
- 20:55Honestly, I just wanted to go fishing. But anyway, Saint Louis
- 21:00de Montfort said or wrote that when joined the word of God, the Hell
- 21:07Mary gives the preacher the strength to pier smooth and convert the most hardened of
- 21:11hearts. Thomas Kempis, another writer revered by both Catholics and Protestants, wrote
- 21:19or that Satan and Hell tremble when I repeat the Hell Mary. Why is
- 21:26that? Well, we'll get into it. Let's just put it this way,
- 21:36we only have Jesus through Mary. That was God's plan. God chose
- 21:41to come to us through Mary. When we invoke his blessed Mother, he
- 21:47comes to us again more powerfully than probably in any other way, except in
- 21:56the Eucharist. I know Protestants to owners stand that, but hang with me
- 22:03here Father actually wrote why, or he act said wins the outpouring of love
- 22:11and respect for such a simple prayer. Know that at any time, it
- 22:15is a great event when an angel appears, more so when the angel acknowledges
- 22:19respect for a human person, because an angel's dignity is greater than our own
- 22:26fallen human nature. Saint Thomas Aquinas asserted that in his salutary preaching on Mary,
- 22:33it was not fitting that an angel should show reverence to man until someone
- 22:38could be found in human nature who excelled the angels. Thus a heavenly messenger
- 22:45reverence Mary with the words Hell full of grace. Now, I'll expand on
- 22:49that. We know both Catholics and Protestants acknowledge that grace comes through Jesus.
- 22:56Before Jesus, the world was devoid of grace. Yet the Angel said to
- 23:03marry Hell full of grace. Before Jesus came into the world. The angel
- 23:11said to Mary, hell full of grace. The Lord is with thee that
- 23:18makes you know. My friend the other day said Mary's just a human.
- 23:22Actually, that one statement makes her unique among all humans from Adam and Eve
- 23:30to that point and from that point to now, because only one person was
- 23:37full of grace before Jesus came into the world, and only one person has
- 23:42been so filled with grace as the one who would carry Jesus within. Her
- 23:51father actually says, God gives his grace that we might do good and avoid
- 23:56evil. Mary full of Grace, was always sinless, free from every mortal
- 24:00and venial sin, sanctified in the womb, and preserved from the stain of
- 24:04original sin. That's Catholic teaching. It's known as the Immaculate conception. All
- 24:11it means is that the blessed Virgin Mary was preserved from the stain of original
- 24:18sin. Jesus, Jesus's mother, would be a pure vessel to bring him
- 24:25into the world. In Scott Han's book, Hail Holy Queen, he goes
- 24:30much into the Jewish history of the idea of the queenship Mary, Queen of
- 24:37Heaven, Mary, Mother of God. He says that Mary was like the
- 24:40Ark of the Covenant. Within the Covenant was the Word of God. If
- 24:45you go back and read your Old Testament, you'll see how powerful and revealed
- 24:48the Ark of the Covenant was. Well, that was a physical box that
- 24:53held the Ten Commandments and some manna from the desert and such. Moses' staff
- 24:59of was in there too. That was, and you see what power it
- 25:03had. The tribes of Israel took the Ark of the Covenant out, and
- 25:08it vanquished their enemies before them. If someone touched the Ark of the Covenant,
- 25:12they dropped dead. The Ark of the Tabot Covenant was the most holy
- 25:17object set in the temple where God resided. Why because it contained the Word
- 25:22of God. So of course God made his mother a special, pure,
- 25:32free from original sin, without flaw, only one like her ever in the
- 25:37history of mankind human being, because the Word of God Incarnate would dwell within
- 25:44her for nine months. So when you'd say to me, Mary's just a
- 25:49human being like everybody else. Know, for one thing, no other human
- 25:55being on earth was ever given that honor, the honor of having the God
- 26:02within them physically and spiritually for nine months. No other human being on earth
- 26:11ever gave birth to God, nurse God, Raise God, provided for God,
- 26:18held God in her arms as an infant. Beyond anything else, you
- 26:25would say, this is the most blessed person ever to walk the face of
- 26:27the earth, one of the most intimate knowledge of God, the one to
- 26:34whom Jesus is actually her son. But then we have the Angel who says,
- 26:44before before she becomes pregnant with Jesus through the Holy Spirit, hall full
- 26:53of grace, that means before she ever encountered Jesus Christ, she was the
- 27:00only person in the world in the entire history of mankind full of grace.
- 27:11You could spend a lifetime contemplating that one fact. And for some reason,
- 27:18not my friend that I was discussing with the other day. But many Protestants
- 27:22take some kind of evil glee in insulting the Mother of God, as if
- 27:29somehow that would please Jesus to insult his mother, insulting Catholics for our reverence
- 27:34of the blessed Virgin Mary. But the Angel said, Hail full of grace,
- 27:44the only creature, the only human being in the entire history of the
- 27:48universe to be full of grace, and the Mother of God I don't think
- 28:02when you get to heaven, if you've made fun of Catholics for I respect
- 28:07for Jesus's mother, or you've insulted his mother, he's going to be real
- 28:14happy with you. If you don't believe me, I'll tell you what,
- 28:18go and soult somebody else's mother. Just find a random man on the street
- 28:22and start calling his mother names. He's probably gonna punch in the face.
- 28:26Do you think Jesus is going to be real happy with you? You know,
- 28:30like Joe Dirt said, is that what you want to be doing when
- 28:32Jesus comes back? I love that movie. I love the Joe Dirt movie.
- 28:34That's totally secular or not, you know anything, but that's a hilarious
- 28:38movie. But anyway, that's what he always said. Is that what you
- 28:41want to be doing when Jesus comes back? You want to be insulting his
- 28:45mother or making fun of or denigrating people who have respect for the Mother of
- 28:51God. How about just doing what the angel said, Hail full of grace.
- 28:56And you could start that by praying the hell Mary, Hail Mary full
- 29:00of grace. Hale means it's a salutation, It's like hello, It's like
- 29:08it means be well, it means various things, but it's just a salutation.
- 29:15And then full of grace. That's what the Bible says. Believe it
- 29:21or not, take it or leave it. But if you have a problem
- 29:25with Catholic saying Hell, Mary, full of grace, you have a problem
- 29:27with a Bible. And if the Bible isn't the word of God, then
- 29:32you don't have a religion at all. Father actually goes on and says,
- 29:37she too is the model of all virtues, whom the Lord himself regarded highly.
- 29:42In her humility, that comes from Luke one eight. Look it up,
- 29:48grab your bible, Luke one forty eight. His grace affected not only
- 29:53her soul, but her body as well, so that from her the Son
- 29:57of God might be born in her. Unlike any other saint, Mary is
- 30:04full of grace effect if not only for her own salvation, but with such
- 30:10an overabundance that it suffices for it suffices for the salvation of mankind as well.
- 30:18Hint, she bears the title co media tricks, for she helps dispense
- 30:22all grace won by our Lord through his passion, death and resurrection. Now
- 30:27I know the Protestants are screaming. They're gonna say there's only one mediator,
- 30:32Jesus Christ. But I'm going to give you a little logic here. How
- 30:36did Jesus come into the world through Mary? The title co media tricks means
- 30:42that she cooperated in the mediation of Jesus. You take Mary out of the
- 30:48picture, you lose your salvation. Jesus chose to come through Mary. You
- 30:55may not like it, but that's what he chose, and he's God.
- 30:59Therefore she cooperates in his selvific mission for mankind, making her you know,
- 31:06she had to give her a sent she had to agree to give birth to
- 31:10God. Because Jesus comes to us through Mary. That makes her a cooperator
- 31:18or a co mediatrics. I'm sorry if that upsets you, but there is
- 31:26no other logical way to assess the role of Mary, because without Mary,
- 31:33there's no Jesus, not in human form. There is no Savior, there
- 31:38is no you know, ministry of Jesus, there's no Crucifixion and Resurrection,
- 31:44there's no Bible, there's no church. You got nothing. So you have
- 31:48to respect Mary's role as want the one who brought Jesus into the world.
- 31:57And that's what co media tricks means one who helps in Jesus's mission. The
- 32:08angel's greeting back to what he's written. The angel's greeting goes on. The
- 32:13Lord is with thee. There are the most These are the most praiseworthy words
- 32:20the Angel could have uttered, says Thomas Aquinas in a Mary and homily,
- 32:23For she is the noble abode of the most blessed Trinity, mother of our
- 32:29Lord and our mother. Mary is blessed among women. Okay, we'll get
- 32:34to get more to that later. But if we're brothers and sisters in Christ
- 32:37and Jesus' mother is Mary, that means you're mother's Mary. So remember that
- 32:42next time you un sold your mother. Mary is blessed among women, and
- 32:49most especially because of the blessed fruit of her womb Jesus. Now, some
- 32:53women are honored for their beauty and accomplishments, but Mary is honored above all
- 32:58other women and men, and for her grace. What blessings Eve took away,
- 33:02Mary restored. For while Eve's fruit was mundanely tempting the apple, Mary's
- 33:10fruit was Jesus Christ, to whom every tongue sheld confess, is Lord to
- 33:15the glory of God the Father's Philippians two eleven of her. Saint Bernard of
- 33:20Clairvaux said, it is no great thing to be humble when you are brought
- 33:22love, but to be humble when you're praised is a great and rare attainment.
- 33:28And Mary was incredibly humble for that reason. The Church recommends the faithful
- 33:34prayer of the hell Mary, with reverence, full of confidence that our heavenly
- 33:37Mother will come to our aid. She is beyond generous and delights in showing
- 33:42it. Scripture says, of our lady, I am the Mother of fair
- 33:45love, and of fear, and of knowledge, and of hope in me.
- 33:50All grace, of the way and of the truth in me is all
- 33:52hope of life and virtue. Now, okay, pross to be saying that's
- 33:57not in my Bible. That's right comes from the Book of Sirac. Martin
- 34:02Luther did not agree with several books of the Bible, and he tore them
- 34:07out the Book of Wisdom, the Book of Sirac, the Book of Tobit,
- 34:13the two Books of Maccabees, etc. He also changed the words of
- 34:17Jesus. Jesus said by faith and Workshire saved He changed it by faith alone.
- 34:24When questioned, he said, the papists rail that I had no authority
- 34:30to change the word of Jesus. I say to them, I did it
- 34:34by the authority of doctor Luther. Think about that for a minute. If
- 34:38you knew a man on the face of the earth, no matter who he
- 34:42was, who decided to change the words of Jesus and the Bible to fit
- 34:45what he believed, knowing that he was saying the opposite of what Jesus believed,
- 34:51and then said his only authority was himself. Would you respect that man
- 34:54at all? Martin Luther is an antichrist because he set himself up as his
- 35:01own authority, worshiping himself and not God. He took out the Book of
- 35:07Sirac, which describes the blessed Virgin Mary in the Old Testament long before her
- 35:15birth. Anyone who loves our Lady knows that in favoring her, they in
- 35:21turn will be favored. It is no wonder that the Saints extol the humble
- 35:24Maiden's prayer and encourage us to pray it frequently, for the benefit of blessing
- 35:30on earth and eternal salvation to come. After all, what good children did
- 35:34not delight in greeting their mother with respect and love. I know this is
- 35:39a hard teaching for Protestants, but if you listen to my show yesterday about
- 35:45the nature of heaven and how saints and angels interact with mankind, you will
- 35:52begin to understand that. And if you read the Bible. Let me say
- 35:59that, read the Bible, especially all the references I give. Read it
- 36:01and think it and pray about it on your own, and you will come
- 36:06to realize that God does favor more holy people. He gives him more favor
- 36:12and blessings in heaven. The role of a Christian is to join in Jesus's
- 36:20self mission for all mankind. The highest power, the highest honor he can
- 36:25give to a saint, to one who loves him, is to give him
- 36:30the ability to help in his mission of saving all mankind. The more holy
- 36:35the saint. Just as when the Apostles were alive, just as Saint Peter's
- 36:40handkerchief taken to a sick person would heal them, They said that his shadow,
- 36:45when it fell on a person, would heal them. Same with Saint
- 36:49Paul. He could read minds, he could read hearts. I discussed all
- 36:54that yesterday power to cast out demons, and that was on earth in heaven
- 37:00after his martyrdom, totally filled with the Holy Spirit and absolutely united Jesus in
- 37:07the body of Christ as a full fully spirit and not encumbered by the physical
- 37:15Do you not think Jesus gave him more power to aid in his mission of
- 37:21saving mankind? And the only saint higher than Saint Peter's in Paul and the
- 37:28Apostles is the Mother of God, who was a saint before Jesus was ever
- 37:34born, as acknowledged by the Angel Hill full of grace, the only creature
- 37:39to ever have grace before Jesus enter the world. So to his blessed Mother,
- 37:45he gives more power than all the other saints and angels to aid him
- 37:52in his mission of saving your soul. You would pray to you, you
- 37:57would you would ask, okay, pray in Latin is pracata, and it
- 38:00means to ask. When we pray to a saint, We're not worshiping a
- 38:05saint. We're saying, please pray for me. I'm asking you to ask
- 38:08God to help me. Bible says God hears the prayers are the righteous right,
- 38:14so the saints are the most righteous people. Of all, because nothing
- 38:17impure can inner heaven. Those in heaven can pray, can ask God and
- 38:23receive answers more quickly and more powerfully than we can on earth. I know
- 38:28you may not like to hear that, but the Bible makes very clear that
- 38:31holy people receive more blessings from God and will be answered and helped more in
- 38:37their life than those who aren't. And the holiest people are in heaven,
- 38:44and the holiest one in heaven is the blessed Virgin Mary. And if you
- 38:47ask her to help you, she will help you in ways you cannot imagine.
- 38:53Yes, you can pray directly Jesus, but He's going to answer her
- 38:59prayer a lot quick for the answers yours. Remember the miracle at the wedding
- 39:04feasts in Kana, his first miracle. She simply says, they have no
- 39:08wine, he says, and actually he addressed her as woman, which is
- 39:14actually a term of respect in ancient Aramaic and the ancient world. That is
- 39:22addressing her you know her position. It's not an insult. It's like saying,
- 39:27sir, you know woman, my time is not come yet come.
- 39:32It also acknowledges her as a representative of humanity. Just as Eve was the
- 39:38first woman, she is the new woman, the first of all Christians,
- 39:43the first one to believe in Jesus, so she is the first of all
- 39:45Christians. He says, my time is not yet come. He wasn't ready
- 39:51to reveal his public ministry, but he did what she said anyway. She
- 39:57turned, He turned the water into wine. All she had to do is
- 39:59ask why did that happen? Well, it was to show us that if
- 40:05we present a need to the Mother of God, she will ask him and
- 40:08he will grant her request. He'll never refuse her so long as it's in
- 40:15accorded with his will. What's good for us, what's good for our souls.
- 40:20That is the truth as believed by all Christians from day one until almost
- 40:29fifteen hundred and all Catholics, all Orthodox, etc. Catholic and Orthodox teaching
- 40:37is a little different, but they still venerate the Saints just as Catholics do.
- 40:44Because we know the saints in heaven their prayers for us are far more
- 40:51powerful than our prayers for us here on earth. Book of Revelations says the
- 40:58saints were standing before God, offering their prayers as burning incense. If you
- 41:04have a complete Bible, one that Martin Luther didn't rip pages out of.
- 41:07You'll have the Book of Tobit where the archangel Raphael. I'm sorry, did
- 41:14I say Rafael spoke to the bust of Virgin Mary earlier? It was Gabriel.
- 41:17Okay, the three archangels, there's Rafael, Gabriel, and Michael.
- 41:22That was Gabriel. Gabriel was the messenger. Raphael in the Book of Tobit
- 41:27said I heard your prayers and I presented the God. God gave me the
- 41:31permission to come help you. That's what Martin Luther didn't like. He ripped
- 41:37that passage out of the Bible. The Bible, being inspired by the Holy
- 41:43Spirit, guaranteed against error through the chroism of the Holy Spirit that he gave
- 41:49to the writers of the Bible. Martin Luther ripped that out, and that's
- 41:52why you don't know it. And if if you can, you can.
- 41:55I mean, it's fine if you want to remain Protestant, but Protestants should
- 42:00have the same belief in respect about saints as Catholics, and without that,
- 42:06you're missing out on so many helps and blessings. You cannot imagine, because
- 42:13I don't you don't have to take my word for it. Just read the
- 42:16passages in the Bible and you that I've cited and read the early Church fathers,
- 42:22and you will understand that the prayers of the saints are far more powerful
- 42:27than your prayer here on earth because they're one with God as part of the
- 42:35body of Christ. They become part of the heart of God. They're pure,
- 42:40they're righteous, and we are still staying with our own sins. Even
- 42:45if you're a Protestant who believes that you know the grace of Jesus covers everyone.
- 42:52What was it the Presbyterian analogy they made that we were like basically a
- 42:59pilot covered in snow, and the snow was the grace of Jesus. Well,
- 43:05the saints who are with Jesus are part of Jesus as part of the
- 43:09body of Christ, and are also as white as snow because nothing impuricn inner
- 43:14heaven. And if we're just as low as dung, which is what Presbyterians
- 43:19and Methodists taught when I was a kid, you better take advantage of the
- 43:27grace is offered through the full body of Christ, because you know that is
- 43:37actually Protestant teachings that your merits gets you nowhere. Well, the saints,
- 43:42God hears the prayers of the righteous, nothing impuricn inner heaven. Their merits
- 43:45are far better than yours. So one way or another, take it from
- 43:52a Catholic ideology, which is plays far more respect to the dignity of man,
- 44:00or take it from a Protestant ideology, which would call you a pile
- 44:02of dung. That's you know, actually, if you I know, that's
- 44:10a lot of Protestants these days are going to say that, well, we
- 44:15don't believe that anymore. You know what, there's a lot of things you
- 44:17don't believe anymore, and a lot of things you're ignorant of. Start with
- 44:22the early church fathers, start with the dak and by the time you finish,
- 44:28you're gonna be You're gonna be Catholic because there's only one truth, only
- 44:30one church that has the fullness of the Church, the Truth, and only
- 44:35one church founded by Jesus that's been around for two thousand years unchanged. So
- 44:39anyway, y'all, it's pray he'll marry, He'll marry, full of grace
- 44:45the lords with the blessed right now among women and blesses, fruit of thy
- 44:47woman, Jesus Holy married Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and
- 44:52at the hour of our death. I'm en. And now let's pray to
- 44:54another saint, Saint Padre Pio, who always said pray, hope and don't
- 45:00worry. So uniting our prayers from Saint Padripille, we will pray, hope
- 45:05and not worry, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.
