- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is so good to be here again. Lucas: Yes. Today we are looking at two very simple but important verbs. Luna: Posture verbs? Like standing and sitting? Lucas: Exactly. We have talked about running and walking before. But what if you are not moving? Luna: Right. Sometimes you just stay still. What is the word for standing? Lucas: The infinitive form is å stå. Let me say that slowly. Lucas: å stå.... å stå. Luna: å stå. To stand. Lucas: Correct. Now let us make it a full sentence. I stand. Lucas: jeg står.... jeg står. Luna: jeg står. That sounds straightforward. Lucas: It is. Now try it yourself. Say jeg står. Luna: jeg står. Yeah, I am standing right now. Lucas: Good. And if you want to tell someone else, you say du står. Luna: du står. Okay. So jeg står, du står. Lucas: Exactly. Now, what if you are not standing? What if you are sitting? Luna: Oh, I like sitting. Is that also easy? Lucas: Very similar structure. The infinitive is å sitte. Lucas: å sitte.... å sitte. Luna: å sitte. To sit. Lucas: Now conjugate it for myself. I sit. Lucas: jeg sitter.... jeg sitter. Luna: jeg sitter. Did I get the double t right? Lucas: Perfect. Double t is correct. And for you, it is du sitter. Luna: du sitter. Got it. Lucas: Let us practice the pairs together. Stand first. Luna: jeg står. du står. Lucas: Now sit. Luna: jeg sitter. du sitter. Lucas: You are doing great. These verbs are used all the time. Luna: Like when I wait for the bus? Lucas: Yes. At the bus stop, you usually stand. You say jeg står ved bussen. Luna: I stand by the bus. That makes sense. Lucas: And when the bus arrives, do you run? Luna: No way. I walk. Or maybe I sit down if there is a seat. Lucas: If there is a seat, you sit. Du kan sitte ned. Luna: You can sit down. I love that option. Lucas: It is a very comfortable option. Let us review the words one more time. Luna: Okay. å stå. jeg står. du står. Lucas: Now the other pair. Luna: å sitte. jeg sitter. du sitter. Lucas: Spot on. Before we go deeper, I want to mention something. Luna: Sure. What is up? Lucas: This show is ad-free because listeners support us directly. Can you think of where you might use å sitte today? Lucas: Maybe at a cafe? Or in an office? Luna: In an office, you probably sit at your desk all day. Jeg sitter på kontoret. Lucas: Yes. And sometimes you stand up to stretch. Jeg står opp. Luna: That sounds healthy. Standing is good for the back. Lucas: True. But sitting is nice too. Especially after a long day. Luna: I will definitely sit on the couch tonight. Jeg sitter på sofaen. Lucas: Relax. You earned it. Remember the forms: jeg står, du står, jeg sitter, du sitter. Luna: jeg står, du står, jeg sitter, du sitter. Easy to remember. Lucas: Try using them in a sentence tomorrow. Tell someone where you are standing or sitting. Luna: I will. Jeg står i kø. I am standing in line. Lucas: Or jeg sitter hjemme. I am sitting at home. Luna: Those are perfect examples. Thank you, Lucas. Lucas: You are welcome, Luna. Keep practicing those postures. Luna: See you next time. Jeg ser deg. I see you. Lucas: Ha det så bra. Take care.
