- 0:04Speaker 1: Five minutes past the hour of the Morning Show with
- 0:08Speaker 1: Preston Scott. Great to be with you friends. It is Tuesday,
- 0:14Speaker 1: July first. Can you believe we are halfway through the year?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Goodness gracious, how did you know? Of course? Now being
- 0:26Speaker 1: July first, it's Christmas shopping season in the Scott household.
- 0:31Speaker 1: This is when this is when I start paying attention
- 0:35Speaker 1: to anything and everything that's out there. But welcome to
- 0:38Speaker 1: the third hour of the Programming's oaia. I'm Preston. It's
- 0:41Speaker 1: show fifty four five and joining us. She's a champion.
- 0:45Speaker 1: US Congresswoman Cad Camick, Florida's third congressional district, Cat How.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Are you, good morning, I'm doing good.
- 0:52Speaker 1: How are you hey? We were just talking about fourth
- 0:55Speaker 1: of July. I'm doing great. By the way, that was
- 0:58Speaker 1: rude of me to just segue into my very pressing
- 1:01Speaker 1: questions here. What what does grilling at the Camick household
- 1:06Speaker 1: look like? First of all, do you do any grilling?
- 1:10Speaker 1: Does your husband do the grilling? And if so, what
- 1:13Speaker 1: would a fourth of July cookout at the Camicks b.
- 1:18Speaker 2: So, I'm the baker in the family. I am not
- 1:20Speaker 2: the chef, i am not the grill master. That is
- 1:23Speaker 2: all max domain, Okay. He is more of a charcoal guy,
- 1:29Speaker 2: so he while while in the past he has used gas,
- 1:33Speaker 2: it's more of a charcoal situation for him. And he
- 1:37Speaker 2: is known for his I mean, burgers are okay, but me,
- 1:42Speaker 2: you can kind of do burgers anywhere. He is known
- 1:45Speaker 2: for his grilled chicken and steaks. And so that's what
- 1:51Speaker 2: that looks like for us. If we're doing something with
- 1:53Speaker 2: friends and family, burgers sure, not really hot dog family.
- 1:58Speaker 2: But if he's feeling really fancy, he will smoke up
- 2:02Speaker 2: like a Boston butt or something.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Is he using a meat thermometer or strictly by feel?
- 2:08Speaker 2: All by feel? He's very old school.
- 2:13Speaker 1: And are the steaks gonna be on the rare side
- 2:16Speaker 1: of medium or on the well side?
- 2:19Speaker 2: Always on the medium side? I don't, he So I
- 2:23Speaker 2: know this is a crime. I should not admit it.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I put ranch on everything in steak. I know, I know,
- 2:32Speaker 2: I know, and it makes me cringe. It makes them cringe.
- 2:36Speaker 2: In fact, like you will hide the ranch because he
- 2:39Speaker 2: he says it's a crime that I put it on steak,
- 2:41Speaker 2: and I do, and I know it's a crime. I
- 2:44Speaker 2: just can't help it.
- 2:45Speaker 1: The morning show chef is walking in here and he's
- 2:49Speaker 1: wanting to slap you.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I know, I know, I'm horrible, and he is. Matt
- 2:56Speaker 2: has such a great palate. He's he's just got a
- 2:58Speaker 2: gift for I mean, you know how firefighters are. They're
- 3:02Speaker 2: they're whipping up amazing meals in the firehouse. Sure. I
- 3:07Speaker 2: like I said, I'm the baker in the family. I
- 3:09Speaker 2: can whip something together, no problem, cakes, breads, whatever. He
- 3:13Speaker 2: has a gift for it. His palate is great. I
- 3:16Speaker 2: just I am such a typical kid from the eighties
- 3:21Speaker 2: and nineties, you know, like spaghettios are good to me.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Be FERRONI gotcha, gotcha, check kat. I want to. I
- 3:30Speaker 1: just I want to. I'm going to just put it
- 3:32Speaker 1: this way. How are the last couple of weeks? Share
- 3:37Speaker 1: whatever you'd like to share about it?
- 3:39Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Yeah, it's been an interesting week plus. I'd
- 3:44Speaker 2: say maybe ten days at this point. We shared a
- 3:49Speaker 2: very personal story that happened to us last year. Back
- 3:53Speaker 2: in May June of last year, my husband and I
- 3:57Speaker 2: we found out we were pregnant and immediately thought we
- 4:01Speaker 2: were miscarrying. And it turned out after ten days of
- 4:06Speaker 2: doctors trying to figure it out that we had, unfortunately
- 4:12Speaker 2: the rarest and most dangerous type of nixt topic pregnancy,
- 4:16Speaker 2: which means that the embryo gets stuck and can't grow.
- 4:24Speaker 2: It's non viable, there's there's not a heartbeat. And what
- 4:27Speaker 2: it does, though, is because your brain thinks that there's
- 4:30Speaker 2: something there that it's supposed to produce a hormone, so
- 4:33Speaker 2: your hCG levels continue to make it grow, and ultimately
- 4:37Speaker 2: what ends up happening is it ruptures and it causes
- 4:39Speaker 2: internal bleeding, and so it's a medical emergency, just like
- 4:43Speaker 2: a miscarriage, and so many women have them, and so
- 4:47Speaker 2: we kind of came s face first with the reality
- 4:51Speaker 2: of what happens when political fear mongering gets involved in healthcare.
- 4:58Speaker 2: And I was rushed into the hospital late at night.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I was told by doctors that they were hesitant because
- 5:08Speaker 2: they had seen a bunch of advertisements that they would
- 5:11Speaker 2: lose their license or go to jail. And I kept
- 5:14Speaker 2: having to explain to them both the law that was
- 5:17Speaker 2: recently on the books, and I was literally reading them
- 5:21Speaker 2: the law, chapter and verse write off my phone, and
- 5:24Speaker 2: then I was also pulling up all of the definitions
- 5:28Speaker 2: of abortion and never once at any point in time
- 5:33Speaker 2: has anyone ever considered treatment for X topics or miscarriages
- 5:39Speaker 2: and abortion their emergencies. And as a person who's very
- 5:46Speaker 2: pro life, you know, this was a devastating experience and
- 5:50Speaker 2: really highlighted the need for a national conversation in our
- 5:54Speaker 2: country about women's healthcare. And what I've found over the
- 6:00Speaker 2: course of a year now post that experience is that
- 6:03Speaker 2: it's virtually impossible to have that experience without it devolving
- 6:06Speaker 2: into hatred and and oh, you know, it's either pro
- 6:11Speaker 2: abortion or anti abortion, and that's just really a disservice
- 6:15Speaker 2: to women and families around the country. And we came
- 6:18Speaker 2: into last week sharing that story, and because we did,
- 6:23Speaker 2: we ended up receiving a record number of death threats
- 6:27Speaker 2: as we as we speak, I've got a security detail
- 6:29Speaker 2: sitting outside and unbelievable amount of death threats from the
- 6:34Speaker 2: pro abortion lobby. The liberal left is probably more violent
- 6:41Speaker 2: than I have ever seen them in my lifetime. And
- 6:44Speaker 2: it's all because I dared speak out about what the
- 6:48Speaker 2: consequences are of their rhetoric and their actions. And my
- 6:52Speaker 2: team has been threatened, my family's been threatened. We had
- 6:55Speaker 2: to evacuate our offices it's it's been a rough week,
- 7:00Speaker 2: but if anything, it has given me more resolves to fight,
- 7:05Speaker 2: and I know that I cannot be intimidated. I'm going
- 7:09Speaker 2: to keep speaking out for women and children and families
- 7:12Speaker 2: because I will not let the pro abortion lobbyists and
- 7:17Speaker 2: their activists dictate healthcare in this country for women who
- 7:20Speaker 2: really actually need it.
- 7:22Speaker 1: We've got a real short segment here and then we'll
- 7:24Speaker 1: have more time on the back side of the break.
- 7:26Speaker 1: But I did get a note here from Ray that said,
- 7:29Speaker 1: ranch ranch dressing. I'm changing. I'm changing the Democrat.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I know it's criminal. It is I trust me. It
- 7:40Speaker 2: is a fatal flaw. I know I put it on pizza.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I put it on stake.
- 7:45Speaker 1: It's all right, that's all right. Hey, we don't have
- 7:49Speaker 1: time for the conversation today, but let me rather than
- 7:52Speaker 1: get into the meat of that conversation you believe needs
- 7:54Speaker 1: to take place. And I don't disagree. The problem is
- 7:58Speaker 1: the conversation requires two sides of this to kind of
- 8:02Speaker 1: come together, sit down and say, hey, listen, but you
- 8:05Speaker 1: know this, the liberals don't do that. They do what
- 8:09Speaker 1: they're doing now. They resort to personal attacks, they resort
- 8:12Speaker 1: to threats, of violence. How do we have that conversation.
- 8:17Speaker 2: You know what's been really sad is, like I said,
- 8:20Speaker 2: the violence, the threats. I have had many colleagues predominantly Republican,
- 8:27Speaker 2: but I've had one or two Democrat colleagues come forward
- 8:31Speaker 2: and say, whenever you want to talk, we're here. Because
- 8:37Speaker 2: there are so many things that have fallen through the cracks,
- 8:40Speaker 2: maternal health deserts, you know, access resources. The entire time
- 8:45Speaker 2: I was going through that experience, I kept asking that,
- 8:49Speaker 2: you know, what about families that don't have doctors, that
- 8:53Speaker 2: don't have coverage, that fall between the cracks, and so
- 8:57Speaker 2: there's a lot that we have to do. The the
- 9:00Speaker 2: left has been holding this issue hostage and have basically
- 9:05Speaker 2: taken women's healthcare down to a singular issue, and that's
- 9:08Speaker 2: elective abortions. And to me, that is really a disservice
- 9:13Speaker 2: to every woman and family in the country. So we
- 9:16Speaker 2: just have to remain strong and resolute. We have the
- 9:18Speaker 2: facts on our side. We definitely have a literacy crisis
- 9:21Speaker 2: in this country because you explain that to people, you
- 9:24Speaker 2: show them the medical journals, you show them the law,
- 9:26Speaker 2: and they just say, no, I know better than all
- 9:28Speaker 2: the US and Yeah, so we have uncovered that we
- 9:33Speaker 2: have both a literacy problem in the country and we
- 9:37Speaker 2: have an entertainment problem in the country.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Final segment with US Congresswoman Kat Camick, Florida's third congressional district,
- 9:51Speaker 1: talking about the One Big Beautiful Bill. Kat, I agree
- 9:55Speaker 1: with every single thing that Rand Paul says about this bill.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I think he's been grossly misrepresented by even a lot
- 10:02Speaker 1: of people on our side and maybe even the President.
- 10:05Speaker 1: But the fact of the matter is, we still need
- 10:06Speaker 1: to pass this bill.
- 10:09Speaker 2: This is well, and it changes by the minute. You know,
- 10:13Speaker 2: the Senate has been in a vodama for the last
- 10:17Speaker 2: twenty two hours, and we in the House have been
- 10:21Speaker 2: watching anxiously. Have talked to Senator Mike Lee and a
- 10:25Speaker 2: couple of other senators here in the last twenty four hours,
- 10:28Speaker 2: and what we can confidently say is this is not
- 10:32Speaker 2: the House product that we sent over. What the House
- 10:36Speaker 2: Speaker is asking us to do is to basically pick
- 10:38Speaker 2: up whatever the Senate passes and just pass it out
- 10:41Speaker 2: of the House. Now, I personally have a problem with
- 10:43Speaker 2: that because if we are not removing illegals off of
- 10:48Speaker 2: the roles that are taking away precious resources from American citizens.
- 10:54Speaker 2: That's the problem. We're not kidding the border, that is
- 10:57Speaker 2: a problem. If we are not funding this radical trans
- 11:03Speaker 2: surgeries on minors agenda that is part of the bill,
- 11:09Speaker 2: that's a problem. If we are not addressing the regulatory
- 11:13Speaker 2: regime and the administrative state, that is a problem. So
- 11:17Speaker 2: we're seeing a lot of different problems that aren't getting
- 11:19Speaker 2: worked out. And it all really comes down to the
- 11:22Speaker 2: fact that you have an unelected bureaucrat the Senate parliamentarian
- 11:26Speaker 2: who has stripped out provision after provision, and I can
- 11:31Speaker 2: tell you she's being very much an activist in this
- 11:34Speaker 2: space because you look at the so called Inflation Reduction Act,
- 11:38Speaker 2: you look at the Green New Deal, you look at
- 11:40Speaker 2: the Obamacare. They all use the same process reconciliation, and
- 11:44Speaker 2: there were countless provisions where they were clearly not Germane,
- 11:51Speaker 2: but they remained in there. And so this parliamentarian really
- 11:56Speaker 2: ought to be fired. The American people did not elect her.
- 12:00Speaker 2: She should not be responsible for determining what gets left
- 12:03Speaker 2: in and what gets left out per her political bias.
- 12:06Speaker 2: So we have a lot of work to do. We're
- 12:10Speaker 2: anticipating a very, very tough week, But again, we are
- 12:14Speaker 2: a Marinta first, and that means putting American first. And
- 12:17Speaker 2: if we allow for illegals in this country to stay
- 12:20Speaker 2: on programs and take those resources away from law abiding citizens,
- 12:25Speaker 2: that is a failure on our part. And so we
- 12:27Speaker 2: have a long road to go, and it is it's
- 12:31Speaker 2: bit by bit. This is a massive package, and we're
- 12:35Speaker 2: gonna just keep on doing everything we can to advocate
- 12:39Speaker 2: for the good portions and try to get the bad
- 12:41Speaker 2: stuff out.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I know the President wanted it by July fourth for
- 12:45Speaker 1: a whole lot of reasons, but the fact of the
- 12:47Speaker 1: matter is that's his deadline. What's the real deadline.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Listen, You've heard me say this. I don't believe that
- 12:55Speaker 2: a deadline matters so much as the end results. The
- 12:58Speaker 2: product has been time and time again explained to us,
- 13:03Speaker 2: proven to us as we the people get. A bad
- 13:06Speaker 2: product takes a long time to get off the books.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Look no further than Obamacare and how it has absolutely
- 13:13Speaker 2: destroyed healthcare in this country. We don't have health care.
- 13:16Speaker 2: We have sick care, yep. And you want to do
- 13:20Speaker 2: it right. I know that there is this deadline on
- 13:23Speaker 2: the books that the President is pushing for, and believe me,
- 13:26Speaker 2: I will do everything I can to support the president,
- 13:29Speaker 2: but I'm not going to support anything that is going
- 13:33Speaker 2: to hurt the American people. And if it takes longer
- 13:38Speaker 2: then and we go past your life, for so be it.
- 13:41Speaker 2: I'll be in Washington. I will work through the weekend,
- 13:43Speaker 2: all work through the night. We've proven, we've done it before,
- 13:46Speaker 2: we'll do it again.
- 13:48Speaker 1: You'll skip that ranch slathering, You'll skip that ranch covered
- 13:51Speaker 1: steak if you have to.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I'm never going to live that down, Am't I probably not.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I think most people would agree. We just have to
- 13:59Speaker 2: get it. People care more about getting the end product
- 14:03Speaker 2: right and less about the deadline.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I agree, Kat. We'll leave it right there. Our best
- 14:07Speaker 1: to you, thoughts and prayers you know, you and your baby,
- 14:11Speaker 1: your family, your staff, safety to all of you, of course,
- 14:14Speaker 1: had your protection and thanks for making time for us.
- 14:18Speaker 1: As always, I.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Appreciate you so much. Thank you guys so much.
- 14:21Speaker 1: God bless thank you all Right, US Congresswoman Kat Camick
- 14:25Speaker 1: with us ranch dressing and all that's tough for me
- 14:28Speaker 1: to get past the ranch and the pizza crust. I'm
- 14:30Speaker 1: there with that. I don't do it, but I get it.
- 14:32Speaker 1: It's been around me for years, with my kids, all right,
- 14:36Speaker 1: I can't stake and Ranch. I'm sorry, I'm struggling. Struggling,
- 14:43Speaker 1: just kidding, sort of, twenty seven minutes past the hour
- 14:47Speaker 1: on the Morning Show with Preston Scott
