Speaker 2: We're not gonna rule them out just yet. I think
• 0:28
Speaker 2: we have to see on the next day or two
• 0:31
Speaker 2: how what the healing process is like and see if
• 0:33
Speaker 2: he can function. But again, don't forget where you're also
• 0:36
Speaker 2: dealing with the other aspect too.
• 0:38
Speaker 1: So mmm, Darrenrizzy said they're not ruling out Derek Carr. Well,
• 0:46
Speaker 1: then we learn on Tuesday that the Saints have signed
• 0:49
Speaker 1: a quarterback in Bendon Nuge. Darin, you fibb in with
• 0:54
Speaker 1: us my area, boy, I'll Pinocchio over there. I get
• 0:59
Speaker 1: the jamesman ship and I'll hate him for it either.
• 1:01
Speaker 1: I mean, you do what you gotta do. And maybe
• 1:03
Speaker 1: there's a part of Darren Rizzy that look. I mean
• 1:07
Speaker 1: Derek Carr breaks his hand on Sunday afternoon. It's less
• 1:10
Speaker 1: than twenty four hours later, he's meeting.
• 1:12
  Speaker 2: With the media.
• 1:13
Speaker 1: Derek carrs like, let's see what this swelling happens. See
• 1:16
Speaker 1: if it goes down a bit, if I can hold
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: a football, it's my non throwing hand. Guy's a gamer,
• 1:20
Speaker 1: wants to play. I get it. Maybe there's there's some
• 1:23
Speaker 1: sense there, But also there's the very real component of this,
• 1:27
Speaker 1: which is all the reports that came out that they're
• 1:29
Speaker 1: not gonna put him on IR but his season's very
• 1:32
Speaker 1: likely over. Okay, I'll find in good there. The Saints
• 1:37
Speaker 1: have to prepare for the possibility, if not the probability
• 1:41
Speaker 1: or likelihood of Derek Carr not being available. And you
• 1:44
Speaker 1: can't just have two quarterbacks. You have to have a
• 1:45
Speaker 1: third on the roster for practice, for your practice reps,
• 1:50
Speaker 1: to have another arm at practice, and also for an
• 1:52
Speaker 1: emergency quarterback on game day, which has been Spencer Ratler. Well,
• 1:56
Speaker 1: now if Car's not available, Rattler Hayner will be your
• 1:59
Speaker 1: too act quarterbacks. We you still need to have a
• 2:01
Speaker 1: third emergency quarterback. Well, maybe that'll come in the person
• 2:04
Speaker 1: of Ben Denucci. So I love this. Ben Denucci's actually
• 2:09
Speaker 1: the one that tweeted that he had signed with the
• 2:13
Speaker 1: New Orleans Saints. If you didn't see the tweet earlier today,
• 2:18
Speaker 1: I love it. He tweeted that he was he was
• 2:21
Speaker 1: signing with the New Orleans Saints, and the source was himself.
• 2:26
Speaker 1: Here's the tweet from Ben Denucci. This was at ten
• 2:30
Speaker 1: thirteen am. It's been viewed two point three million times.
• 2:33
Speaker 1: He says, I have fun news. I signed with the
• 2:35
Speaker 1: Saints this morning. Source myself and in quotes or in
• 2:39
Speaker 1: part is fairly credible. So I yeah, there you go, Bendnucci,
• 2:43
Speaker 1: you go break that news yourself. There kat a little
• 2:46
Speaker 1: bit of the background on Danucci. If the name is
• 2:48
Speaker 1: South familiar, probably should because he played for the Dallas Cowboys,
• 2:50
Speaker 1: and because the Dallas Cowboys are always on everybody's TV
• 2:53
Speaker 1: all the time, you probably saw this. So Danucci was
• 2:55
Speaker 1: drafted by Dallas in the COVID year in twenty twenty,
• 2:59
Speaker 1: and he spent two seasons with Dallas. He also did
• 3:01
Speaker 1: time in the XFL with the Seattle Sea Dragons. He
• 3:04
Speaker 1: spent time with the Broncos, the Bills, and now was
• 3:07
Speaker 1: signed with the New Orleans Saints. He's got two hundred
• 3:10
Speaker 1: nineteen career passing yards in the NFL when he had
• 3:13
Speaker 1: some spot duty there in the COVID year with Dallas.
• 3:17
Speaker 1: This was Mike McCarthy, by the way, after the draft
• 3:21
Speaker 1: in twenty twenty, about what they liked about Ben Denucci
• 3:25
Speaker 1: when they drafted him in the seventh round.
• 3:27
Speaker 3: Very accurate. He adminds me of a young Mark Bulger,
• 3:31
Speaker 3: someone that just you looked for comparables. He's a young
• 3:36
Speaker 3: man who played obsessions his whole life, and it'll be
• 3:39
Speaker 3: an excellent addition to our quarterback rome.
• 3:42
Speaker 1: So Danucci started his career at pitt was there for
• 3:46
Speaker 1: three seasons, then the twenty eighteen to nineteen seasons finished
• 3:49
Speaker 1: at James Madison where he started those two seasons at
• 3:52
Speaker 1: James Madison in eighteen nineteen, seventh round pick of the Cowboys.
• 3:55
Speaker 1: And he's had limited game action in the NFL, but
• 3:59
Speaker 1: an available body, very likely a practice body this week
• 4:03
Speaker 1: and maybe for the remainder of the season, and quite
• 4:05
Speaker 1: possibly your emergency quarterback on game day. But I think
• 4:08
Speaker 1: in adding Ben de Nucci, it's less about d Nucci
• 4:11
Speaker 1: and it's more about about Derek Carr. And if we
• 4:15
Speaker 1: were thinking about the possibility of Carr playing the old
• 4:20
Speaker 1: adage of action speak louder than words. Well, Darren, Rizzy
• 4:23
Speaker 1: can tell me they're not closing the book on Derek Carr.
• 4:26
Speaker 1: When you go sign a quarterback, it tells you. It
• 4:28
Speaker 1: shows you what they're actually their plans are. That's not
• 4:32
Speaker 1: to have Derek Carr this weekend or maybe for the future,
• 4:34
Speaker 1: Rizzy was asked, though it is worth noting this. On Monday,
• 4:36
Speaker 1: he was asked if Carr could start on Sunday without
• 4:40
Speaker 1: practicing it all this week.
• 4:41
Speaker 2: I think it's likely whoever we go with, you know,
• 4:44
Speaker 2: decided between Jacob Spencer, I think we'll likely get the
• 4:47
Speaker 2: majority of the reps here early in the week, and
• 4:50
Speaker 2: a lot of that has to do and also the
• 4:52
Speaker 2: concussion protocol because you got to take the steps and
• 4:54
Speaker 2: there's only certain things you can do. And so I
• 4:56
Speaker 2: think that whoever that guy is, we'll get, we'll get
• 4:58
Speaker 2: a majority of rep that'll be.
• 5:00
Speaker 1: But Darren could conceivably start without practicing.
• 5:03
Speaker 3: Most of the week.
• 5:04
  Speaker 2: Conceivably.
• 5:05
Speaker 1: Yea, it is worth noting. And I know this isn't
• 5:07
Speaker 1: a what and what example, but this did happen a
• 5:10
Speaker 1: year ago at LSU. Again, that's college at the NFL.
• 5:13
Speaker 1: Remember Jade Daniel suffered a concussion against Alabama when Dallas
• 5:17
Speaker 1: Turner cheap shot at him, and he didn't practice at
• 5:19
Speaker 1: all that week and play cleared protocol and played against Florida.
• 5:23
Speaker 1: If you watch the Nil documentary that was a Netflix
• 5:26
Speaker 1: or Amazon or whichever one was Amazon Amazon, if you
• 5:29
Speaker 1: watch that, like they even walked through that about how
• 5:31
Speaker 1: he was just at practice taking mental reps the whole week.
• 5:33
Speaker 1: He didn't take a single rep at practice, a physical
• 5:35
Speaker 1: rep all week, and then went and played the game
• 5:37
Speaker 1: of his life, which got him back in the Heisman contention.
• 5:39
  Speaker 1: So I get that's college, But for a guy that's
• 5:43
Speaker 1: been an eleven year starter in the NFL, it's not
• 5:47
Speaker 1: unprecedented to think you don't practice physically during the week.
• 5:50
Speaker 1: I mean, we see it all the time with guys
• 5:51
Speaker 1: in the NFL that get veteran rest days or the
• 5:55
Speaker 1: week is just getting them physically ready to go on Sunday.
• 5:58
Speaker 1: So I don't know why that would be any different
• 5:59
Speaker 1: with darres Car. If he's able to go, he goes.
• 6:02
Speaker 1: But again, it's got a clear concussion protocol and then
• 6:04
Speaker 1: also has to be physically able to play the position.
• 6:07
Speaker 1: One more from Darren Rizzy. He was asked also about
• 6:10
Speaker 1: how they would divvy up reps this week at practice.
• 6:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, so we're gonna have to make a decision here
• 6:14
Speaker 2: today probably if Derek doesn't go, you know, kind of
• 6:17
Speaker 2: the direction we're going to go between Jake and Spencer.
• 6:20
  Speaker 2: We'll meet this afternoon and we'll have a plan. I'm
• 6:22
Speaker 2: going to tell you that whoever that guy is is
• 6:24
Speaker 2: going to get probably the majority of the reps here
• 6:26
Speaker 2: moving forward this week. In the event that Derek doesn't play,
• 6:29
Speaker 2: we're gonna have to make a decision on that sooner
• 6:30
Speaker 2: than later. As you know, we don't get a lot
• 6:31
Speaker 2: of practice days, so the rep count is going to
• 6:34
Speaker 2: be important. And so you know, I'll sit down with
• 6:37
Speaker 2: obviously with Clint and with Andrew Ginoko and everybody will
• 6:40
Speaker 2: make it, and the offensive staff and we'll make a
• 6:41
Speaker 2: final decision on whether we're going to move forward here
• 6:44
Speaker 2: this week with Jake or Spencer, and we'll go from there.
• 6:46
Speaker 1: Saints have an off day Tuesday, and they'll hit the
• 6:48
Speaker 1: practice field Wednesday, so they'll make that decision who's going
• 6:50
Speaker 1: to start today. Tuesday, they'll make the decision of who's
• 6:53
Speaker 1: going to start and Wednesday, when they hit the practice field,
• 6:55
Speaker 1: everyone will know the answer at that point. Then we'll
• 6:58
Speaker 1: see the first injury report of the week and how
• 7:00
Speaker 1: they officially list Derek Harr
