  Um so I've been trying to figure out exactly what I'm gonna do

  and shadowlands because the systems have been developing and

  I decided that I can't just be a shaman.

  What? Same just a shaman.

  I mean that I have to sort of pick a special specialization.

  I got to pick like if I'm going to be enhanced or Elemental, I
• 1:58
  don't think I can. Really jump back and forth

  between them because of the systems and I'll definitely
• 2:04
  explain about that as we get into the news.

  But Shadowland seems to be fairly old friendly, right?

  Like I think I can run in. Yeah, yeah, I think I can write
• 2:14
  in with like the most salts I've ever tried to juggle in actively
• 2:21
  and so I hire, wow career. No, no, I've done it.

  I've done one. I think I've done three back in
• 2:28
  like Myths. I was running like a Miss Weaver
• 2:33
  and my Shaman and a warrior. I think anyways three before.

  Yeah. But now I'm now going to try and
• 2:42
  run for so I can like you know get all that Lord goodness but I
• 2:47
  don't I think it's actually easier to run an ALT in
• 2:50
  shadowlands then it will be to run multiple specs at least at
• 2:57
  the level that I would want to well.

  Yeah. Yeah.

  So we'll dive into that a little bit later but I wonder if it

  would actually be worth just like having three shamans or
• 3:07
  whatever. What I needs.

  Covenant depending on what you want for your, for your special

  Covenant ability. But yeah, well, we'll talk about
• 3:15
  that a little bit later. But man, that's that's a weird
• 3:20
  design choice, I think. Hey, they wanted choices that
• 3:26
  have consequences and this is part of the consequences, but I
• 3:32
  guess at least, at least like you say, it is all friendly.

  I guess. Although I'm not a huge fan of

  needing to make two or three characters of the same class but

  I mean if that's the way it turns out I need to play, I

  guess that's what I'll do. But we're going to get more

  Yeah, this breaking news story, shadowlands has officially been

  delayed. So this afternoon, John height
• 7:24
  who's executive producer over on World of Warcraft, announced
• 7:28
  that the worldwide release of shadowlands has been delayed to
• 7:32
  later this year. Now we did not get a date but
• 7:36
  they did say this year. So it sounds like they are still
• 7:39
  aiming for a 20/20 release but it will not be coming at the end
• 7:44
  of October, the pre launch event, which will be the pre
• 7:49
  patch with the new leveling experience, the squish Exiles,
• 7:53
  what's that exhales reach? Exhale three, yeah, the new
• 7:56
  starting zone. All of that content that we were
• 8:00
  expecting with the pre patch. So the nine-point 0.1 patch, all
• 8:05
  of that will be happening, October 13th.
• 8:08
  We just don't know what that actually means.
• 8:11
  That also means a Corruptions going to be going away if I
• 8:13
  understand correctly. So now we have it at correct.
• 8:16
  A date for the pre patch and no more corruption hooray, but we
• 8:21
  don't know how long that's going to last.

  I think we have a we have a question later on to allow from
• 8:28
  a listener to allow us to speculate on the date a little
• 8:31
  bit but they very much said that it's to polish the product,
• 8:36
  especially things related to the endgame and that it's one of the
• 8:39
  most complicated expansions that they've ever put out.

  And there are lots of different features kind of interconnected
• 8:48
  with each other. So they need more time to
• 8:50
  balance and iterate and I I agree.

  I am glad that they did this because from all reports and all
• 9:01
  feedback that I had seen was that this was not ready but this
• 9:06
  was not balanced that there were there were just a lot of pieces.

  Like, I mean we even talked about I think last week where,
• 9:13
  you know, the difficulty around balancing one single ability for
• 9:19
  classes that have specks that fill different roles.
• 9:22
  So that fill tank DPS and healing like, How do you make
• 9:25
  one ability that works for every single one of those specs.
• 9:29
  And every single one of those roles like it's very, very
• 9:31
  difficult. So they are admitting that,
• 9:34
  there are still some things that they need to change and balance
• 9:37
  and I get, I doesn't sound to me, like they're actually
• 9:43
  Changing anything in terms of core gameplay.
• 9:47
  Like this isn't them saying yeah we're pulling covenants out or
• 9:51
  you know we're taking the power out of covenants or anything
• 9:53
  else. They're just saying you know, we
• 9:54
  need more time and yeah, so I think it's a good thing but I'm

  still I'm still a little bit. This makes me more worried.

  I'm elated Joss. I'm just like they put this out.

  I was like, deep is sigh of relief.

  Just ha. Thank goodness because like we

  are if been getting iteration after iteration where they are

  introducing new little hooks in that we've gotten how how the
• 10:31
  conduits are going to be upgraded and where they're going
• 10:36
  to. Drop changing from week to week,

  we've got all the stuff that we're going to be talking about
• 10:42
  stuff that they just introduced in this patch today, right?
• 10:47
  And like, you need time to, like, make sure that you've
• 10:51
  probably tested them to make sure that they're okay to make
• 10:54
  sure that they don't have bugs in it.

  And so, like, for me, if this is just all about making sure that
• 11:00
  everything is smooth and is in the right position and makes for
• 11:05
  a compelling. Play because a couple weeks ago,
• 11:08
  I was like, yeah I don't see the point of them all.
• 11:11
  And then over the course of the next three weeks, they started
• 11:14
  putting all these Hooks and stuff to say this is why you're
• 11:17
  going to the mall and I'm very glad that.
• 11:19
  Now there's time to iterate on that and be like, okay does this
• 11:23
  work? Is it fun?
• 11:24
  Have we put too much in one bag versus another?
• 11:29
  So I can't stress enough. How happy I am?
• 11:34
  That they are taking the time. To polish this, to make sure
• 11:38
  that all the little interactions in the end game, where we going
• 11:41
  are going to be spending most of our time is there.
• 11:44
  And then, yeah. Just as you've said Joss to
• 11:46
  like, make sure that things are balanced and that like, we don't
• 11:51
  deal with like a system that we're going to hate until what,
• 11:57
  like a patch or two down the line when they can finally fix
• 12:00
  something that hopefully with this fast iteration that they
• 12:04
  can put out, is going to be something that will be Able to
• 12:06
  enjoy from day one, even if they one takes place later in the
• 12:10
  year. Yeah.

  And I think that, I mean where my kind of reservation comes
• 12:16
  from, isn't the fact that they delayed shadowlands?
• 12:19
  Because I agree with everything that you just said.

  I think it was the right decision to push it back.

  It sounds like they weren't able to get those pieces out to be
• 12:28
  tested soon enough. And I know people were still
• 12:30
  finding bugs with even just a simple things like questing.

  There were still lots and lots of bugs and it felt like it was
• 12:39
  still Beta. And I know like they one of the
• 12:43
  pieces of news. We were probably going to cover
• 12:45
  this week that we, you know. Now don't have to was the fact
• 12:50
  that the, like release candidate tag was taken off of the, the
• 12:55
  previous beta build. So, I mean, like, you could kind
• 13:00
  of see the delay coming. Where my, I guess.
• 13:06
  Negative feelings apprehension. Like where that is coming from,
• 13:12
  isn't that? I was like oh they should just
• 13:14
  release because if anything BFA should have taught them that
• 13:18
  lesson that putting something half-baked out to the world is
• 13:21
  not a good way to launch an expansion.
• 13:24
  So I think delaying it until it's ready.

  Is a good thing to do. What I'm more worried about is
• 13:32
  that they had such a long Alpha and such a long beta and then on
• 13:39
  top of that, they still weren't ready.

  That makes me feel like maybe they aim too high with
• 13:47
  shadowlands and that the core of the expansion when it comes to
• 13:51
  like probably not the lore and stuff.

  It sounds like they've got the Lauren, the story pretty well
• 13:56
  fleshed out and they're in a. They feel like they're in a good
• 13:59
  place with that. But from the mechanic side of
• 14:01
  things, I wondered if they just aim too high and had too many
• 14:05
  systems and I don't know how that's all going to feel once we
• 14:09
  actually get in there. Does that make sense?

  Yeah I would agree with like the underlying principle of your
• 14:19
  argument. I think that shadowlands is a
• 14:21
  very ambitious expansion in terms of system design.

  I agree with you. I think that Part of the reason
• 14:31
  that they've run out of time is because they have been listening
• 14:34
  to feedback. We have seen tour gasket
• 14:37
  reinvented over and over again to the point that it is not
• 14:41
  anywhere near what it was at the beginning.

  Yeah. And that eats up development
• 14:47
  time we have seen them. Yeah, we have seen them
• 14:53
  completely, throw out, ideas for Covenant abilities, and put the
• 14:58
  and put them back in. Yeah, part of that is because it
• 15:01
  is one cup of nobility for all the specs of the class and
• 15:04
  sometimes it would work for one Speck, but not another, and that
• 15:09
  is a difficult design process. But that also eats up time, I
• 15:13
  think that each time they have made a change, they it has been
• 15:19
  for the better, torment. The term torments.

  That was a big thing in tour. Gas that everybody like
• 15:26
  rejected. They actually still exists to a
• 15:29
  Point, but they're in such a much better place that nobody
• 15:32
  talks about them anymore. There are completely fine,
• 15:35
  right? And it was something where they

  had had an idea. And if they had just steamrolled
• 15:39
  ahead and said, listen public, you like you don't understand,
• 15:43
  we know what we're talking about.

  Don't worry, once it goes live, this will be great.

  It would have been a disaster. Yeah, in my opinion and it's all

  like, at this point that we're at now, even if the Covenant
• 16:00
  Abilities, the color. The sole binds are not 100%
• 16:04
  balanced and I'm like that's really what they're going
• 16:08
  forward for through. Now I do think that the core of
• 16:12
  shadowlands is going to be something that is enjoyable and
• 16:15
  fun for everybody and not lock you into doing any piece of
• 16:19
  particular content that that you are going to be like resistant
• 16:25
  to or just flat-out hate and that is that's such a great
• 16:29
  place to be. Yet.
• 16:30
  Obviously, you know, I have no idea what's going to happen in
• 16:33
  9.1 and stuff. Maybe they'll like be like, hey
• 16:35
  that's right, our a back and I'll scream but 49.0 point to I
• 16:40
  think that the the core of it is great and it is really just
• 16:44
  iterating on it. After that they've had to hit
• 16:48
  the reset button on a number of these systems so I'm just
• 16:51
  worrying. Basically, for no reason.

  Is what you're telling me is that I can relax shadowlands
• 16:57
  will be fine. Shadowlands will be fun.

  Get Were it, I think you can as long as we get the bugs out.

  I I'm hoping that we don't have like entire entire ziggurats

  disappearing and people falling into lava because that was a big

  big issue for for that. And there's there has been bugs

  as as much as last week where it would just shut everybody down

  and they couldn't get past a past a quest Long as those are
• 17:31
  dealt with right? I think we're going to be in a

  great place. Interesting.

  Well I maybe we should just start talking about some of the

  new things that they have put in in the last week or so that they

  have put into the Beta mechanic wise and and maybe kind of go

  into all of the things that they're going to have to be
• 17:53
  looking at and balancing because I mean there's there's stuff in
• 17:56
  here that I'm just like, oh my God.

  Like how how is this going in when we were thinking that maybe
• 18:03
  we might even be getting the pre patch?

  - next day, I was literally thinking that we were like as of
• 18:11
  the date of recording. So where it's October 1st?

  Right now, we were predicting pre patch on the 6th.

  So I mean considering we thought we were that close to the pre
• 18:23
  patch and then the expansion, some of these things are huge.

  Like I saw, I thought that this was like April Fool's in October

  something. When I saw this whole tier set
• 18:35
  bonus, Thing. I was like wait what like how is
• 18:39
  this just being added in and tested now?

  So apparently Covenant sets have a 35 and 8 piece bonus on them.

  When you're like, they work like a tear set.

  So when you're wearing three pieces, it does one thing five.

  Another thing ate another thing and I guess the eight pieces is
• 18:58
  that just for the Venn theater. No, no, they have three
• 19:05
  different bonuses, these three different bonuses, but most of
• 19:11
  them are themed is just the VIN fear one.

  Has a weird sort of swap where everyone else has like a
• 19:17
  covenant ability. That is like their Covenant
• 19:20
  signature ability is affected by like the five piece.

  Okay. Three out of the four except

  that the vendor one it switches around because of course so, The

  three piece bonus gives you out of combat health regen is just
• 19:38
  health or is it just regeneration in general?

  So like Manna if you've got it yeah health and Mana.

  I haven't tested it to see if it will.

  Also regenerate something like death knight runes which also
• 19:51
  generate over time or it is a resource region.

  Yeah. Or Hunter Focus, though, I

  thought you had to build up under Focus.

  No, it's a passive over time. Unless I have not played

  survival in a while, maybe their focus Works differently, but I'm

  not a hunter person. I am going to bow to your
• 20:10
  expertise on this but yeah like if I if I don't do anything

  there are abilities that I can cast as a hunter, that will
• 20:18
  grant me Focus. So it's kind of like, you know,
• 20:21
  extra bonus fast insta region. But yeah, but it does just
• 20:27
  naturally climb Back up to think 110 over time.

  Okay, yeah, but anyways, so out of combat region but only when
• 20:39
  you're in your covenants realm, so you have to be in your zone.

  Now, does that apply to dungeons as well?

  Like the The Zone specific dungeon it.

  I haven't tested it. I would hope.

  I would hope. You know what?

  I don't think it's strong enough to matter.

  I was gonna say like you were about to say, I hope Doesn't and

  then I could hear you like the gears in your brain working and

  Hang on a minute you know what an out of combat regeneration?

  Bonus shouldn't matter at any level of content that that this

  would affect if you are doing like 90.

  Plus yeah I just double check the wow had posted it says

  outdoor shadowlands own so Not in the Decay.

  Yeah. And then the 5 piece bonus

  interacts with the signature ability of the Covenant.

  Like we mentioned. So five piece for everybody,

  except then theer event theater. It's the eighth piece bonus and
• 21:45
  then I guess. What's?

  So then the eighth piece bonus is Some sort of like extra
• 21:53
  special. Proc not ability proc.

  So like for instance the Korean won is your spells and abilities
• 22:02
  have a chance to cause your target to erupt in a blinding
• 22:05
  light dealing Arcane damage or healing.
• 22:09
  So dealing Arcane damage to an enemy or healing and a lie.

  So that's just a proc that happens as you're going through
• 22:17
  your regular rotation. Yeah, but they like the honesty,
• 22:22
  the neck Lord, necro, Lord one I think is the most elegantly
• 22:25
  designed. So like, of course, the 55 piece
• 22:27
  bonus. Gives you like a primary stat
• 22:30
  when you're using your flesh craft but the eighth piece
• 22:33
  reduces the cooldown when it procs and also gives you credit
• 22:38
  rating. So I just I think it's a very
• 22:40
  cool play where it actually Improves the ability of the 5
• 22:45
  piece and I wish were set bonuses.
• 22:48
  Had that sort of like to play but together.
• 22:50
  Yeah, that's interesting though. So yeah we've just had these set
• 22:55
  bonuses added in and you get these pieces these are your
• 23:02
  Covenant specific sets. So this isn't stuff that you get
• 23:06
  like dropped in dungeons or the world or something.
• 23:10
  This is going to be very much like your Legion class armor
• 23:14
  set. So you're going to get those
• 23:17
  pieces by progressing through your campaign, like your story
• 23:21
  for your specific covenants. Oh, It's a like unexpected twist
• 23:29
  but again, one more piece of complexity to balance.
• 23:32
  That isn't just like the legion ones.
• 23:35
  I'm trying to remember now because it's been so long since
• 23:38
  I don't even think I ever. Like, actively War, my Legion
• 23:43
  class armor. Like, I got it for the transmog,
• 23:46
  obviously, but I'm pretty sure that I was into like, the, the
• 23:51
  mythix and the raids and stuff. So, the class armor set was
• 23:55
  never good for very long sort of thing so, but I don't remember
• 23:58
  if they ever had set bonuses on on the Legion class armor?

  I don't recall myself, I remember using it to fill in
• 24:07
  gaps. Like if I wasn't missing a drop
• 24:09
  like in week, 1 or something, I was like, oh yeah, he didn't
• 24:11
  stick around. Yeah.
• 24:15
  Yeah, so that's why I'm not super concerned with this.

  I think that'll be great for as you get your character up and
• 24:22
  maybe it's a character that is you're playing for storyline,
• 24:27
  and this will give you gear for the storyline, or maybe it's a
• 24:30
  character that you're running around and it your farming
• 24:34
  materials for your professions and then this will give you
• 24:37
  something you can do to like, get like at least the basic
• 24:40
  armor for that. So I think it has a place.
• 24:42
  I think it's nice. I am Little concerned that some
• 24:49
  tear tear bonuses will benefit other classes more than other.
• 24:53
  Again it's another it's another piece of yeah.
• 24:56
  Covenant issues. Yeah.
• 24:59
  But as long as item level is relatively low then everything
• 25:03
  else you just outperformed it based on pure stats and such.
• 25:07
  Yeah and I'm kind of hoping that because like you said things are
• 25:11
  going to be better for some classes than other classes.

  I just hope. That this isn't yet another
• 25:16
  piece of the decision-making tree where you're like, what
• 25:20
  Covenant should I be in? Like I think you're right that
• 25:23
  most things should just like outpaced these bonuses fairly
• 25:27
  quickly but I hope that there's nothing and this is why I say I
• 25:31
  can't believe that this kind of stuff gets like put in so late
• 25:34
  because honestly, I mean what happens and I haven't been
• 25:38
  testing enough on all the classes and all the covenants to
• 25:40
  know. But what happens if you end up
• 25:43
  like Case scenario to me would be like say you're a shaman and
• 25:49
  for some reason, the necro Lord from mild raxus like otherwise.
• 25:56
  Probably aren't great. But there is like some rotation
• 26:00
  and some build that makes this like tear bonus, Covenant armor,
• 26:05
  the best armor through the first raid, you know like total worst
• 26:09
  case scenario, but those like crip rocks or something just end
• 26:13
  up like putting you away. Way above and beyond like
• 26:16
  whereas without this Covenant armor, then you would want to go
• 26:21
  in a totally different Covenant. You know, it's just it's one
• 26:23
  more piece and I hope that it is as small as we think that it is
• 26:27
  and a nice to have not a half to have.
• 26:29
  But yeah I just don't want this to be another branch in the
• 26:32
  Covenant decision-making tree because oh my God, that thing is
• 26:36
  big enough already. Someone's gotta trim it down.

  Yeah, like I think that one of the reasons that it shouldn't be
• 26:44
  as Add is that it affects the signature ability and not your
• 26:50
  class ability. So this is not going to suddenly
• 26:53
  make your like primordial wave be stronger than then something
• 26:58
  else it's not going to suddenly make like the this is the thing
• 27:01
  that everyone in the Covenant gets regardless of class.
