- 2:20Oil in a little tipsy. So yeah.
- 2:27I think like a quick round of introductions.
- 2:29Introductions would be helpful. Yeah.
- 2:32Fake. Do you want to tell us a little
- 2:34bit about yourself? Yeah, go ahead.
- 2:36Hi. I figure Ewing's.
- 2:38I'm the owner of the Kpop stop and Anime the one and only here
- 2:42in Wichita, I would say the first one.
- 2:44Kpop stop. Yeah.
- 2:46So you gave up store here in Wichita and I'm from
- 2:49Philadelphia. And I don't know why I'm here.
- 2:57You're here because I'm in Italy.
- 2:59Yeah no you're here because you are amazing.
- 3:03We got to know. We're so excited to have you.
- 3:08Here we really are. You're here because we were just
- 3:12really excited to hear about your story here about all the
- 3:15stuff that you're doing to bring Kpop into the Wichita community.
- 3:20And honestly, like we just love interviewing people from all
- 3:23walks of life. So you are sharing with us to
- 3:26that you've brought Rula and Laura long.
- 3:29Can you tell us about? Do you guys want to introduce
- 3:31yourselves? Tell us a little bit about like
- 3:34who you are Fay. If you want to tell us how you
- 3:37got involved with them, you first is this roller?
- 3:42Hello. I'm also don't know why I'm
- 3:44here. I really loved her like she just
- 3:52she's a very obvious infectious personality like, oh my god.
- 3:57Well, yeah, that's why every time he called and she's part of
- 4:03my three kids look team don't we just had two weeks ago and next
- 4:10is Laura as what I said before, my high roller, my honor,
- 4:15volunteer and my event, and oh, and with other, with our income.
- 4:20Being event as well. Yeah, these two volunteers
- 4:22already volunteering well, actually, I was the first person
- 4:32to have anything like, Kpop related and Wichita Kansas.
- 4:36And so, it was really cool, you know, like you always, I always
- 4:39like, you know, I'm on Instagram and all that and I see all these
- 4:41people go to these events and like, you know, now we have
- 4:45someone that holds them. And yeah, so I was like, yeah,
- 4:48this is my opportunity, that's all we got.
- 4:51Yeah, same same. It's hard to find Kpop friends,
- 4:54I think. Yeah, please.
- 4:56I got into Kpop a little later on in life.
- 4:58None of my friends are into it. So I just really wanted to find
- 5:02more people that were into it, girl.
- 5:03So I only one in my group loves Kpop as well.
- 5:07Yeah, I told her, I would love to help, and I have really
- 5:12wanted to go to the event to meet new people and how I met
- 5:15her, where, like my cheese now. How is it?
- 5:50How does it feel to be the first Kpop store in?
- 5:53Wichita Kansas. When there's nothing Kpop
- 5:56whatsoever, no one know what Kpop is, or, you know, oh, I'm
- 6:01so excited. I'm so happy.
- 6:02So, I would say that I told my husband.
- 6:05No, I meant that. Kpop history in Wichita, know
- 6:11it's hard with my daughter. Yeah, like she likes Kpop and I
- 6:15always go with her shopping. And then I'm just frustrated
- 6:18like oh why we have to go to Dallas, just to go and buy some
- 6:23K-pop and every time we go to Philly fans, we have Korea.
- 6:27Always ask can we have koreas? Are stopover Mom, okay?
- 6:30Now I know cuz there's also Kpop store in the bookstore there in
- 6:34the airport. Yeah.
- 6:35So that was helping North Korea is our stopover go?
- 6:40Oh yeah every year we would always go home.
- 6:43So you have like a layover in Korea before you, okay?
- 6:46Got you. These have like four hours late,
- 6:48that's your connecting flight. Yes.
- 6:50And I love it because it's so much fun.
- 6:53I love I love, I love when they give you the food, they give you
- 6:56all these bougie stuff. They give you slippers there to
- 7:02everything every girl. Yeah, if you're not going to
- 7:09sleep, you'll end up eating, you know, and your home and then
- 7:14like, you know how like Korean people, they're very like nice.
- 7:17They're like very formal. Oh girl, when they treat you.
- 7:20They treat you like royalty. Like you're like even though
- 7:22you're in like what coach they'll treat you like royalty
- 7:26as well? It's amazing.
- 7:28I love it. But yes bacteria.
- 7:30Sorry. So like you had to go to an
- 7:33order to get any type of merchandise.
- 7:36For that Kpop related, you had to go out of town.
- 7:39Yes. Dollars or even plan our
- 7:41country? Yes.
- 7:42Yes. And especially my husband's
- 7:43always complaining like yeah, we have to go to Dallas 5 hours and
- 7:46a half. Half.
- 7:47And then we have to go like around 3:00 or 4:00 in the
- 7:49morning and we have to come back as well and then the next day
- 7:54school, so that's it. And then I'm just sorry and that
- 7:58covid hits in. I just realized that all like
- 8:03most of the teenagers if you'll ask it's either the like Kpop or
- 8:07anime and I love business anything any business I'm into
- 8:12retail? Yeah, yeah every time everywhere
- 8:15I go, I always buy something. Yes.
- 8:17Sell it to my friends that my husband is all the just like
- 8:21what my note just like with my daughter and husband said, like
- 8:23Mom, you marry a hustler here, you just don't go shopping and
- 8:35just focus. Can you just focus mom and does?
- 8:41Let you guys know we have faith has been here too as well.
- 8:45So he's saying that they actually do.
- 8:47Don't go on vacation because she's always working only
- 8:50shopping in the good way. He's like yeah, that's why I
- 8:56decided and then one day, I have a friend that owns that, you
- 9:00know, the shop beside me and then she said like, hey, this is
- 9:06others shop is vacant? Do you know anybody that like
- 9:09and I said, hmm. And at that time we were we we
- 9:14had this little booth in the flea market.
- 9:17Pony, and that's awesome and Seneca.
- 9:19Yeah, that's how Wesley Marketplace.
- 9:21Yeah, and I told my friend, what tell me how much I'm so, she
- 9:26said, how much? But I said, hmm.
- 9:29Without consulting my husband. I chopped liver.
- 9:36You have to follow your passion and you marry an Asian woman.
- 9:48And I went to my friend, my friend, I'm gonna buy albums and
- 9:57at have some other stuff that I had from the flea market and,
- 10:02and that's it. I opened my store like April 18,
- 10:06by the way, next month will be our second anniversary and so
- 10:11funny because at the store we just open half, huh?
- 10:14Is the river still a lot of need Knocks over there because my
- 10:18friend still have it and I told her, I don't care as long as I
- 10:20want to open now. Yeah.
- 10:22Yeah. Because he wanted to get your
- 10:23foot that's it. And I'm so happy in the first
- 10:26day and I will not get to say how much I had, but Vietnamese,
- 10:32the loss community supported. I can't believe I could have
- 10:35believed and then and then that's it.
- 10:37That's the yeah, I started my business.
- 10:40That's exciting is, you know, when I say to my I told my
- 10:43friend I'm gonna get this space. Yeah.
- 10:46And right away, I went to my workplace and asked for a
- 10:51two-week vacation. I need a vacation so you you're
- 10:57about two years in April 18th, April 18th, that's awesome.
- 11:03No, that is really cool. I lost my train of thought.
- 11:06That is so exciting. How excited you are about, even
- 11:09having your own store and then how much you've been bringing
- 11:12the community together. So instead, you honestly brought
- 11:15the Kpop world into Talk. The other thing is I have
- 11:19something to talk to the to the young ones.
- 11:23Yes. Like I have this like a topic
- 11:26like because either the like Kpop or anime.
- 11:28Yeah, pretend I know everything actually I'm learning from them.
- 11:33Yeah. So since you know the beginning
- 11:36you had albums, you have you know you started with albums
- 11:40right at first and then you just drove all the way to what Dallas
- 11:46and Carlton. In to go get those stuff.
- 11:48Yeah, yes my friend. Yes, what, what else?
- 11:51Kind of merchandise to you? So I think a pop shop owee aside
- 11:55from the little anime and also mostly Kpop.
- 11:59We have the shall we go? Shall we say stationaries?
- 12:03Yeah, I grew up liking that sundry you.
- 12:08Okay. I guess everybody loves under
- 12:10you. Yes, I love those stationary is
- 12:12like dispense the Sun during my time.
- 12:17The scented paper. Oh yeah, then I found it like,
- 12:21in the store as well. In Carlton already have it.
- 12:23So, I go go where to find where the right kind of get this one
- 12:26and I even have my friend. Come on.
- 12:28Tell me. Who's your supplier?
- 12:30Yeah. Starting your like hustling.
- 12:33And he won't, he won't tell me and I mean like she won't tell
- 12:36me. So I said, come on cuz I'm I'm
- 12:39your, you know, like one of your top clients in here so she said,
- 12:45give me a paper Give me a paper, she won't say it but after that
- 12:56I also add Google another one. And then after that do Supply,
- 13:00we're going to call you. Because at the time when I open
- 13:04up for a few months, if you go go, like keep up store in
- 13:07Wichita, keep up. Stop is the first one that will
- 13:10get down. Yeah, you know like yeah come
- 13:12out. Yeah, I guess that's what that
- 13:14that's a good thing and and again We haven't said the
- 13:17location to the Kpop store yet so it's 200.
- 13:22And I love 10:54 North Hills side street and that's where you
- 13:27can find, it find them them. And the other thing is Emily.
- 13:32What do you mean? You got a lot to?
- 13:34I honestly, I should but I only I go, I do go, but I the only
- 13:40album by ever bought was BTS, and I mean, a great first one.
- 13:45Yes, and the mine. Nieces and my nephews and like
- 13:48my cousin's have all these photo cards and, you know, I just tell
- 13:52them, hey, can I have this one? But yes, I'm so happy for you.
- 13:58Congrats amazing thing. Like sorry.
- 14:02We were still going through some of the merchandise that she
- 14:04offers, right? So stationary stuff, you can
- 14:07find some albums and Anime feet. Especially the enemy figure.
- 14:14Oh, yeah. Yes.
- 14:16Oh, like like you The real things like the doll.
- 14:20Yes. Okay yes.
- 14:21They're not called dolls are. Actually no
- 14:34action figures are very popular with our flushes.
- 14:36Oh yeah. All the sun, Ryu characters?
- 14:40Yes. Yeah.
- 14:41Like, we have, like a regular customers that always go there,
- 14:45because there's always a new A new collection, shall we?
- 14:48Say like the, we assumed all the newest collection of the sun.
- 14:52Are you is the blue jeans? Yeah, recently January it, was
- 14:56The Wizard collection. Yeah.
- 14:58And our flashes are different from the one that you could find
- 15:01in the sundry you.com because that comes from Korea and Japan.
- 15:07That's awesome. So it's a lot more authentic.
- 15:10Yeah, well Jared authentic, but it's just like different
- 15:13designs. Okay.
- 15:15Okay. Nice.
- 15:16You're soaked clothing, right? You have like, all we have some
- 15:19shares but I just only had two rocks in there because, you
- 15:23know, like inventory is especially sizes.
- 15:26That's true. That's a good point.
- 15:27Yeah. What are your guys favorite
- 15:29things? To purchase us K-pop fans.
- 15:34Yeah, there's a whole like thing with PCS like the photocard,
- 15:40though. The trading in the selling.
- 15:41It's a whole thing online. But they also has those in her
- 15:45sore. So Yeah, those are nice to go
- 15:47into those kind of pick through Hotel cars are really expensive.
- 15:50Yeah, and I'm just like what Okay.
- 16:17Yeah. So basically, like your favorite
- 16:19person. Yeah.
- 16:20Basically, there's like bias Wreckers which always are
- 16:25fighting to get the bias spot. Like, for example, one of the
- 16:31main or one of the artists from BTS BTS, Like, Backstreet Boys,
- 16:39guys, one of the main singers or one
- 17:09of the singers from Members, BTS members of thank you, like, you
- 17:16could be like Hey, that guy in the purple of I'm gonna buy like
- 17:21an album of just him essentially or not.
- 17:24Break it down for me because I'm too dumb music as a group.
- 17:28Yeah. But um they do sometimes make
- 17:31solo work but they typically stay together as a group and
- 17:33make music as a group. Yeah.
- 17:35So then how do the bias so work? I think I understand things that
- 17:47are just about that person or that zodiac sign, right?
- 17:50So kind of like if I'm relating it to the hell basically it's
- 17:53just like okay so it's like a it's like a picture of metaphor
- 18:00and you just you know, it's just individually of individual
- 18:04photos of each member and yeah, there aren't random.
- 18:07And they're like, they just like get like so if you buy an album,
- 18:11like those type of albums on their, they have photo cards on,
- 18:13there it is, they don't even tell you who's in there.
- 18:16Just give you whoever's on there, and then there are whole
- 18:19albums is just pictures and like their little each member writes
- 18:25their own little. Like, you know, how they feel
- 18:27about the album. So, yeah, and then also small
- 18:32inclusion. Yes, Locker, yes.
- 18:34So it's like and those those albums like cause like Mobile,
- 18:37sometimes like 70 up, or like, even sometimes lower, but I
- 18:42mean, it's worth it because everything on there.
- 18:44Yeah, yeah. And back to the bias is, Is
- 18:46actually like white people or say like hosted by.
- 18:50It's it's depict. Why do you pick the person?
- 18:52It's because of the personality, right?
- 18:54Yeah. Jim and Joe, why does Turtle you
- 19:18know why? Because I like sugar, because of
- 19:21his personality would like like being an Untouchable, he's
- 19:26behind then. Yeah.
- 19:27And then with jimin is the sweetest.
- 19:32That's why, that's why you lived with.
- 19:38I feel like, yeah, I heard somewhere that your bias is the
- 19:42person you like see yourself most in a while.
- 19:46Your bias wrecker is who you're like, your ideal person would
- 19:50be. That's is my bias wrecker.
- 20:03Mine was too young. Pictures lately.
- 20:22Okay, I'm gonna, if I have like a bias Wrecker in the group, it
- 20:25would probably be jimin. So like he's always trying to
- 20:29compete for first place. I mean, I think my first black
- 20:38pink. Oh, she's so cute, I love her.
- 20:42Like my BTS spices. Why is always jimin You're
- 20:53loyal? We have our intern at the
- 21:18highest esteem, but we demoted him recently because he was
- 21:21supposed to have got to come back to be promoted.
- 21:34So you know how we talk about bias, your merchandise and
- 21:38everything. What else did we do?
- 21:39You re talk about your merchandise, right?
- 21:41I got lost and beeps. Yeah, so let's talk about the
- 21:46Kpop history, I don't know a lot about Kpop history, but what
- 21:51Wikipedia says, you know, not a lot of people
- 22:07know what Kpop is because like, when you tell someone what's
- 22:09Kpop is it like those? Like you think it's just those
- 22:13Asian guys that looks like girls, like pretty, they're
- 22:16really pretty wear eyeliner and everything like that, blah,
- 22:20blah, blah business. But more Kpop is a lot to as
- 22:22well. There's different genres of
- 22:24Kpop, they could be wrapped. It could be R and B.
- 22:26They could be like, you know, hip-hop Rock and Roll dance.
- 22:30You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 22:31So, Oh, I was, I was going to say, you know, like that really
- 22:35reminds me of when I get thrown was first started.
- 22:38Yeah, so did I get done is also pretty new genre in music and
- 22:43that I remember like growing up listening to reggaeton and at
- 22:48that point growing UPS like we're talking about like not
- 22:52that long ago, but they used to call it like Underground Music,
- 22:58more Urban Music and then over time because it was just mostly
- 23:03Because I get done is mostly in Spanish so it's mostly Latin
- 23:06American countries where you hear that where you have most of
- 23:09that presence and now it's gone International.
- 23:12So it almost. And so like you can also find
- 23:15like reggaeton artists who are into trap, who are into more
- 23:20Barbie, who are a little bit more rock and roll Pop as well.
- 23:24I don't know about rock and roll, but they're a little like
- 23:26different to a lot of them just stem from a certain, like,
- 23:32Instrument or like a certain sound which for to get done.
- 23:35It's like, boom bow. Oh that's what that is.
- 23:37It's a certain sound. So I'm just kind of curious a
- 23:40little bit about like Kpop to how then like when did it start
- 23:44to explode if you guys maybe kind of remember, because I
- 23:47ended up becoming like a really big fan and I get thrown out one
- 23:51point, right? So then I'm like, Googling, I'm
- 23:52like, why is it called this or like, why do so new?
- 23:55You know, I don't know if you guys are super fans.
- 23:57I think about same thing. When DNA BTS.
- 24:01Yeah. I have specific, are sorry
- 24:05sight. Yes.
- 24:06I was kind of the like, like the beginnings of our beginning.
- 24:08Beginnings bar and DNA came in and just, yeah, yeah.
- 24:13So like what kind of what year I iron 2017 that comes?
- 24:19That's when I started kind of getting into it because I
- 24:21remember earlier in the year, BTS was on like an award.
- 24:24I think it was I think was the billboard, and I was like, that
- 24:28was like, in May of 2017 and I was just kind of like just 2017.
- 24:31Yeah. Yeah, but the thing is you're
- 24:33like a Triple G. It was in November and I was
- 25:03just so fascinated. I don't know what it was.
- 25:06It was the dance moves. If it was their faces and
- 25:11everything else. I mean it was just like so
- 25:14different and I don't know. It just seemed like I wanted to
- 25:17I wanted to know more and that's where it kind of Might the whole
- 25:20I jumped in and never looked back, but like the openings gone
- 25:23from the, why don't you can't unsee it, right?
- 25:32Laura, right. How did you start with Kpop?
- 25:35I have a very long is because I have, I'm ready.
- 25:43Twice, with a fancy. So, I found Twice first twice as
- 25:47the first group I ever heard of, or, like, saw on YouTube, then,
- 25:51I like film to that rabbit hole. I saw bts's mic drop, and like
- 25:55all these other songs. And I think what, really, drew
- 25:57me until I get was that they were singing and dancing at the
- 25:59same time, which is not really common.
- 26:02And like Western artists like what?
- 26:04Like now fast forward a little bit more because like early
- 26:072000s that's so pretty common. Yeah, I know, but that's not a
- 26:10lot of. Yeah.
- 26:12But I just thought they were beautiful and just like I really
- 26:14enjoy watching people dance because I, I just love dance.
- 26:19And so I think that really drew me into it, but then I I kind of
- 26:23just like, drizzled out of it. And then in 2019, it wasn't the
- 26:28pandemic start was starting and all that I think.
- 26:32Had a lot of time on our hands. Some rough patches, and I had
- 26:39time to like really dig into it. Yeah, yeah.
- 26:42So I saw your Kpop back in 2013 because my cousin's love were
- 26:48like watching these Asian guys on on the screen and I'm like it
- 26:53was BTS. And I was like why does that guy
- 26:57have so many haircut like colors?
- 27:00And they're like, that's his style.
- 27:02Those are em and I was like, I think that's pretty cool.
- 27:05And then I started getting to know more and more and deep and
- 27:08more, and more. And I'm like, wow, I love this.
- 27:11Like I really do like I watch how twice was formed.
- 27:14I watched their you the competition thing and
- 27:17everything. Also there was a competition.
- 27:19So basically in Korea, like they do because there's so many K-pop
- 27:23groups in Korea, many so many active ones, like a survival.
- 27:27It really is. Its survival.
- 27:29Is this file to the fittest to be on.
- 27:30So it's like if you were in Nashville, And you were trying
- 27:32to make it out as an artist and like because so this is
- 27:35different. So in Korea they have
- 27:37entertainment companies, okay? And entertainment companies,
- 27:40there's like there's so many that there's like a big one like
- 27:42jyp IG Hive was big head. Yeah, it was big head Starship.
- 27:49They have Cube Entertainment. There's just so many so many.
- 27:53So everybody has to audition for first to go to the
- 27:56entertainment, and then you go through different levels and you
- 27:59like, do you do rap? You do singing it.
- 28:02Acting job at Sur. But if it was American Idol back
- 28:05ten times more intense, your training, your change from your
- 28:08dream, it's like all School kind of like that but you know it's
- 28:17yeah, I guess your true for so long.
- 28:20They like they literally keep you.
- 28:21There's people that have been training for like two years.
- 28:24It's like a to 10 years. Yeah, that's cool.
- 28:26Yes some are basically, yeah. It's like they're trying to
- 28:33just, you know, hone in on what you do best and then they want
- 28:37you to be like perfect at it, you know, the perfect person in
- 28:40the, if you're perfect in their eyes, the world wants to be, you
- 28:43want, they want you to be perfect in the world's eyes,
- 28:45right? Well, so, so they do the
- 28:47training and everything like that, and not trained, they get
- 28:50audition, and then they get called back.
- 28:52And then they they audition in front of like the CEOs and all
- 28:56those people that artists and then once you get in you're like
- 29:00in a you're like And I'd like a training camp and then like you
- 29:05live with 15 people in one apartment and like bunk beds
- 29:09everywhere and then you're like, all you do is eat, sleep,
- 29:13School, train music. That's all.
- 29:15That's all, that's all you do. Yeah, I know.
- 29:21There's like one trainee made it for.
- 29:23He was like a trainee for like five or eight years.
- 29:26I can remember. There's maybe function.
- 29:29Yes, yes, yes. Take care of ya.
- 29:32There was one from this group called CI eggs and he I think he
- 29:35was like in it for 10 or 11 years.
- 29:37Yeah, inning. Yeah.
- 29:38I always, I do. Sometimes they start really
- 29:40young like 14. So then sometimes I was seven
- 29:43years old, it's almost like if you chose a career paths kind of
- 29:46a certain age and then you could go to this bootcamp School type
- 29:51of thing to grow up in this and learn how to make it a career.
- 29:56Yeah. Because they either want you to
- 29:58be that she's either, you could be a solo or you could be in a
- 30:01group or you Be like, or you could be like, we don't think
- 30:05you're a great singer. We want you be an actor.
- 30:07Mmm. All that stuff like that.
- 30:09So there's these entertainment companies companies all over
- 30:13Korea that are and you could train for that long and they can
- 30:16say, bye-bye, we don't want. Yep.
- 30:19We we don't need to do it for you.
- 30:21No, that's crazy. Yep, we have to become midday.
- 30:23So then when you, when you start actually, when they find, when
- 30:26you start acting like to train and everything they find, okay,
- 30:29we want you in this group and they do.
- 30:32Beards. So, like, they're like, okay,
- 30:33you need to do being a group like this.
- 30:35You do all these showcases for us and see if you if you're
- 30:39ready to date today, Beauty to the world.
- 30:42So that's how it goes. Okay?
- 30:44And so when they do the debute is out when everybody sees who
- 30:47you are but like why is everybody where the fandom
- 30:50starts to happen? Well, fandom starts even when
- 30:53they're training to, it's like, you can see them on TV, then
- 30:56going through trading yep. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:59Because they want them to grow up like they want people to Have
- 31:03they want a fan base for the families for them?
- 31:05Well yeah, that's how it starts. Oh my goodness.
- 31:08It's fake. Do you have like a K-pop group
- 31:16that you first fell in love with?
- 31:18Or when did you start getting into Kpop?
- 31:21I know you mentioned your daughter.
- 31:23Yes. Well she started it Axl.
- 31:27Nobody didn't mention I know it. Let you guys know EXO is like
- 31:35all their members are done with their military except Kai
- 31:39speaking of reggaeton you should listen to his new song.
- 31:42I think you love me. I thought he really did know
- 31:48he's going he's going to I think he's the last one right girl I
- 31:51thought cause like when I thought I was like man BTS is
- 31:54sick on a Hiatus right now and I said maybe EXO is gonna have
- 31:56their tour and I was like, okay well I heard this is why her
- 32:02That they're going to have the super em.
- 32:05Yes, super, absolutely. Because that tape Taemin the is
- 32:10already have known. She, he will be finished by
- 32:13April and then the other one that's that was in the Hiatus
- 32:18Locust. Okay, he'll be back.
- 32:21Yeah, I love him. So that's what I heard.
- 32:24You know, you guys are hearing it first.
- 32:44I have to go to this sum P, you know, do you read some P?
- 32:50That's where I got my, you know, all the news about Kpop and
- 32:53also, not only the Kpop and kdrama, I love kdrama.
- 32:57Okay, wait, before you get on that.
- 32:59So you were sharing you started with When my daughter and her
- 33:04first Kpop, that group that she liked was EXO twice.
- 33:09And then BTS. Mmm.
- 33:10But now she's into and Anime. Okay, everybody loves animals.
- 33:16Yeah, that's why. Well, that's good.
- 33:19I'm happy. I love how we're all connecting
- 33:21like this talking. I love, I love this.
- 33:37Kpop music as well. She does by the album's and she
- 33:41has a couple. I don't remember from which bans
- 33:45honestly and she's shared a handful of teen I do.
- 33:49NCT is NCT. Yeah.
- 33:56So I'm sure that she's going to be listening to this episode.
- 33:58Although she's a Super Fan, so she listens to all of them
- 34:01because she better. Nighty, Lighty vibey lighting
- 34:07by, do you better be listening? We talked about the Kpop music
- 34:13industry and everything like that because, you know how
- 34:15there's new generation and there's old generation.
- 34:19What does that mean to find that?
- 34:20So old generation is like back in like how do I say Like Girls
- 34:25Generation? Yeah, like Girls Generation like
- 34:28little news. Like considering started like in
- 34:44the 80s as well. Kpop has been in the music
- 34:50industry for a very, very, very long time.
- 34:53How much is a very long time? As one I'm trying?
- 34:55I mean, like I knew it is. Okay, that's about the same as I
- 34:58get on nothing. That's what.
- 34:59That's what I still consider. That's so new.
- 35:02Right? Like when we consider all types
- 35:04of music, over the course of like Humanity.
- 35:07Like, that's new. Yeah, because I get done is also
- 35:09new. That's why, like, I mentioned
- 35:11there was a time when that was called more Underground Music or
- 35:15Urban Music because it started to slowly start getting that
- 35:20traction of the name again phone.
- 35:22So, Kpop is similar. It's pretty new then.
- 35:24Yes. So like Kpop, how do I say this?
- 35:26Like Kpop was in Korea the whole entire time and never came out
- 35:31into like National or anything like that.
- 35:34Kpop, honestly, just branched out.
- 35:36Basically, when rain came like that was like rain ISM early
- 35:442008. Yeah, around there, but yeah, so
- 35:49that's the technique later second generation.
- 35:51So that's basically like we're girl generate Girls Generation
- 35:54anything like that. Yes, yeah, this started when
- 36:00they were very young. Like 14 years old, yeah.
- 36:08Oh, 1990s. I know I said.
- 36:11Yeah, it's so simple, but there's awesome 21c.
- 36:18Honestly, I never heard of Kpop until I think Psy with Gangnam
- 36:23Style, like, I think that's when it started Library.
- 36:24What he? I mean, he kind of opened my
- 36:27eyes to, what is K-Pop? Yeah, exactly.
- 36:30Because he did come to United States.
- 36:32Yeah, very first would be tedious, you know, started.
- 36:36That's it. Yeah, so now we're in this
- 36:44fourth or third generation in this.
- 37:07Some people may not know anything about it, like ideas
- 37:10that you get like 100 million views like the like BTS gets 100
- 37:14million views in like a day. Yeah.
- 37:16On YouTube. Like they really something like
- 37:18it's yeah, no. I mean I definitely understand
- 37:21that like you know, when it's music in a different language
- 37:25for those that become like super fans like you're like yeah dude
- 37:29like of course this is why this person is super famous and you
- 37:32like start to show like all your love and excitement and then so
- 37:36totally get it. Get where this is coming from.
- 37:40I guess I relate to it more from like, my my love.
- 37:44For sure. I get thrown.
- 37:45And I'm like, oh yeah, this artist and that argues and that,
- 37:47you know, we should be on the yeah, I used to listen.
- 37:54Yeah, yeah, they say it. So fans Ivan's ain't like
- 37:56reggaeton. Sorry awkward silence because it
- 38:34was trying, did you see that? Apparently, no.
- 38:37Hmm. The only questions about our
- 38:41Event log 2 weeks ago. Yes, Eric.
- 38:43We're going to save that for last.
- 38:46Yes we I can't I want to hear more about your event and
- 38:49everything like that we have that real quick so that's also
- 38:58why we wanted to have you on here because like you are
- 39:01someone that we first can't got connected with to start writing
- 39:04ads about Kpop your the k-pops or on our podcast.
- 39:08So you guys are starting to listen to those ads here.

- 41:38How you girls feeling today? Had a good break, Emily.
- 41:45Emily Finally, we have it. Emily just made these awesome.
- 41:52Awesome. Looking, pink drinks here.
- 41:53And I just had a taste, and it was definitely amazing.
- 41:57What are you girls doing so good?
- 41:59Really, very good Emily. Tell us what you made today.
- 42:01Well, I made a drink called think pink.
- 42:07So ingredients today, you know guys we have to drink our Soju.
- 42:11You know, we chose, I chose the flavor strawberry today because
- 42:16I love Strawberry and I didn't ask him by what fruit they want,
- 42:19but I just chose myself. It's good choice.
- 42:22So today I will have Soju here and then we have all these
- 42:27things are called like it. Yeah, cool.
- 42:29Yes. Yes there.
- 42:30Yeah, I don't pronounce it. But yes, that and it's just
- 42:33basically just pure yogurt dream.
- 42:36This is basically mostly Frozen but, you know, but it's good.
- 42:41It's a good dessert, a good. When you're, you know, out in
- 42:43the summer drinking this, you just flip the lid.
- 42:46And just drink it like add animal.
- 42:49Yes, I've literally got the animal.
- 42:54I also have some popsicles, strawberry popsicles fire.
- 42:58There's so good. I'm glad you love them.
- 43:02I'm glad you love them. And I also have some Vera Yogo
- 43:07Vera from Korea with some aloe pump as well.
- 43:13She tried, but yeah. So, oh, you forgot the real
- 43:18fruits. This you did your own.
- 43:21I mash up some fruits. Yes, I did.
- 43:24I put two shots in there, Soju in there and I just mix all
- 43:27together and I put the popsicle at the end, just use it with the
- 43:30stirring while are so good. Make sure to follow us on here.
- 43:33See you cast on Instagram, where you'll see a quick real about
- 43:38how Emily made this drink. So you can make it at home, too.
- 43:42That was good, huh? It's really good and we're
- 43:49professionals on Facebook, right.
- 43:51Here's to you pod. Is that right?
- 43:53She don't even know. Oh, yeah, bitch.
- 43:56You don't even know. You're always asking for the
- 43:58password on everything. You know, you guys, for the
- 44:01longest time, I was like hot. What's our popularity?
- 44:06Emily would always call our podcast.
- 44:08Cheers to you, and we, and then Dusty and I would always be
- 44:11like, it's, here's it's here. We're back with you guys were
- 44:26back with. Say we're back with Roula and
- 44:28Lauda. Oh my God.
- 44:29Sorry, it's good. Just whatever I'm not eating.
- 44:49Well I don't know you just roll your r's of the.
- 44:51Okay. And then Faye you said yours is
- 44:53actually Fay. Yes.
- 44:55Okay. So we're back with faith rule,
- 44:57ahora, Emily, and Dusty and family to our friends and she
- 45:09said Katie was hanging out with us.
- 45:16And I called her an idiot. But in Spanish and also like
- 45:20lunar. No.
- 45:20Well, I was just like, yeah, I was just like I was like, dude,
- 45:25I'm going to stun Mensa and yeah, no, no, it's so funny
- 45:30though because she was like, what did you just call me?
- 45:33And then I'm like, comes around. She called you a stupid bitch,
- 45:35but in Spanish Yeah, you're fat bitch, but
- 45:54speaking of other languages, speaking of really cool, yeah
- 46:00music in other languages to which we actually were talking
- 46:02about that yet but we wanted to just kind of come back to the
- 46:07podcast to start talking through to start talking about the
- 46:13events that you guys had. But before we even get there, We
- 46:16want to talk a little bit about the difference between K-pop
- 46:19fans and then Kpop stands. You guys know that I'm learning
- 46:31stuff so I but yeah I think fans are more casual listeners.
- 46:40Like they'll dabble into all sorts of groups but won't really
- 46:43dig deep into the like the name, the names of Personality, all
- 46:48like all because then in like groups and I'm fandoms there's
- 46:53like inside jokes that look like member said like ten years ago
- 46:55but like everybody knows it. Okay.
- 46:59Jimin's latch Ebola like Insider stuff.
- 47:04I think that's stand and okay you know everything about the
- 47:07groove. You like follow all their
- 47:08content, everything they make and a fan would be just like a
- 47:12casual listener. Okay, what does stand stand for?
- 47:17Or does it stay cloudy thing as an actor?
- 47:19Gentle stand came from him at him stare like crap from us that
- 47:25song from Eminem's really. I said, I'm pretty sure I'd like
- 47:29because he's like a crazy fan. We're not crazy, we're not
- 47:34crazy, he knew everything about him and him.
- 47:39Yeah, it was like really into him and like well, okay, that
- 47:42sounds like a conspiracy theory almost Yeah.
- 47:52Okay, so you guys are all basically just like I was
- 47:56thinking about such a slight. Older activities.
- 48:18Yeah, you just call everything they do definitely like Eminem.
- 48:34As they follow them everywhere, they get the information like
- 48:38information. Like whites are going to be.
- 48:40I mean there are dedicated. Yeah, it's kind of scary.
- 48:44It's really scary. Yeah, I don't know how they find
- 48:46out where sometimes they even pay people.
- 48:48Yeah, it's for the information like their obsessive.
- 48:51Yeah, those are crazy. Those are more like Eminem
- 48:54answer that We're talking about K-pop fans
- 49:35and everything like that. Have you guys been to a fan
- 49:38meetings? Those usually happen in Korea or
- 49:42yeah, but they didn't. They also when they call on
- 49:44tour, they also do it here, too, as well.
- 49:46Maybe I'll do it as much after covid.
- 49:48They kind of stopped doing like they would have, what are they
- 49:51called? The What are the when they give
- 49:53him high fives, I'm literally blinking.
- 49:55All The Shield's know they. Yeah, they would like they have
- 49:58the shield after and you just wave at them but like there was
- 50:00like the high-touch they do is they would use high touches
- 50:04before in the they had like a shield and stuff if they even
- 50:07did that, you know, sometimes I don't even do that.
- 50:10Speaking of meetings though, can we talk a little bit and
- 50:14transition into the event that you had?
- 50:16Because that's almost, let's not a true meeting.
- 50:18But you did, you had a lot of fun stuff you had Raffles.
- 50:22You had a Up sleeve, we had boba drinks, you had vendors, you had
- 50:26a whole event. The Kpop stop here in Wichita
- 50:29had a whole event dedicated to Kpop music, because Drake AIDS
- 50:34is coming and they're actually coming.
- 50:36I think is it next week or something like that?
- 50:38They're here already. Yeah, tonight they are awesome.
- 50:45So you had a whole event basically just to continue to
- 50:48round up all the fans get together.
- 50:50Enjoy celebrate that Music and get the chance to win some
- 50:55tickets for the concert. We have two winners.
- 50:59Okay, so we want to hear a little bit about the event how
- 51:02that came about what like let's start off with that.
- 51:05Like what made you want to start with creating an event?
- 51:07Is that your first of it and do you plan to have more?
- 51:10Yes, it's my first event, it's just that like I said, like mink
- 51:14frustrated. Nothing come, you know happened
- 51:17here in Wichita and then there was a cop's live event that how
- 51:22we What's that January? It was.
- 51:24Yeah for V. And then I'm thinking.
- 51:28Oh what making a bigger event than that?
- 51:30Like, like more than a cup sleeve.
- 51:32Because what happened in the cops live is the usually do that
- 51:36in like a cup of Café or even a boba or in a vertical Boba.
- 51:41Not a barber shop but yeah like a passing shot like yeah
- 51:45something like that. We're fans just go there and buy
- 51:48and then get the cops leave and then have the picture taking and
- 51:51then that's it. Can you tell everybody what a
- 51:53cup sleeve is a cups of the event is actually originated.
- 51:58In Korea. That's how they do.
- 52:00Do, it's like a fun meeting, you know, the usually do it like a
- 52:05birthday of their, their Idol or are there by us.
- 52:09And then we do some picture, taking a cups.
- 52:12And then if you buy a drink in the place, you gonna get a cap
- 52:16sleeve, you know, word. There's a picture of the whoever
- 52:21does celebrant of the day and then you also get the photo
- 52:25cards event. A lot of people just go there
- 52:29because they're also collecting those items.
- 52:31Got ya. So what happened?
- 52:34We had that one here in January and then I realized like, oh
- 52:37maybe I can make like a mini comic many.
- 52:43Yeah, okay, yeah. And I just realized oh it's very
- 52:47ambitious for me to do it. Maybe just would just make it
- 52:50like a bigger than a cap sleeve. And then we'll go on with that.
- 52:53After we, we do. We have the experiences, how to
- 52:56handle it. That's it.
- 52:59Then the good thing is, like, when we announce it, like, three
- 53:03and three weeks time, our tickets were sold out.
- 53:06Yeah, likes. I know we are, we were supposed
- 53:09to do promoting promotion for your guys's event.
- 53:12And right before we started, like I remember, we made one
- 53:15post and we were like, okay, we're getting ready to also do
- 53:18the ads on the episodes that we were about to release and then
- 53:22we got a text message. They sold out guys.
- 53:24We're like He's like, yeah, it's sold out guys.
- 53:30They're like, what is like, yeah, event place that we have I
- 53:41had at the time is only good for 200 people, but I don't really
- 53:45glad we don't want to go over because.
- 53:48Yeah, that was a special especially if your first time.
- 53:51Yeah. And I can't believe everyone had
- 53:56a blast, like, you guys It was so fun, so fun, like everyone,
- 54:00every time I ask because when we are when we started I always go
- 54:04around and check like for people if they have good time.
- 54:07And the good thing with our program was that like we don't
- 54:10have like a pose. It's, you know, like it after we
- 54:14had this this this. So we say like this games that
- 54:19we have another thing coming on. So like everyone is like, oh I
- 54:24guess they don't want to go home but they were all excited.
- 54:29And unfortunately, there were people that complains because
- 54:32isn't able to get, you know, to get in just yet.
- 54:36So when we know that the tickets are sold up and I told I told
- 54:40them because they asked me like a PHA, there's some more people
- 54:43that like to get in and we let them come and go, no tickets,
- 54:48that's it. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:49Well that's also a good thing though because like that starts
- 54:52to tell you the market that you have is what I mean.
- 54:54Like now you have an idea of like oh I need to get a bigger
- 54:57event. It's because you had I mean
- 55:00again you guys sold out really quick.
- 55:02You have you are now. I can't believe.
- 55:04Yeah you guys just sold out like that it was just like oh my gosh
- 55:09and that is still like a lot of people to fill up in an event
- 55:11space. So now you have an idea of like,
- 55:13okay next time I need to go to for this type of size so that
- 55:17you can start to bring more people together.
- 55:20Can you tell us a little bit? I know you were going to include
- 55:22some vendors in the bank. Can you tell us about the
- 55:24vendors that you had? And we do want to know, Whoo.
- 55:28Whoo, whoo. All right.
- 55:29So the vendor, so the vendor or so, in our ticket actually.
- 55:32So we all are ticket was $20 at the time.
- 55:35So that was, as what you mentioned earlier.
- 55:38There's a bull but drink included with that.
- 55:40And also three raffle tickets and cap sleeve.
- 55:43And also like this at that time, we also gave them to put cards,
- 55:48whoever their favorite one. Yeah.
- 55:50And then the second one was surprised.
- 55:52Okay. So with the booba drink we have
- 55:55our vendor the macchina. Yeah I guess you heard.
- 55:58Yeah. Yeah.
- 55:59Those doughnuts are, yeah. So, so what, what, what I did.
- 56:02I make it easier for them. So since I've included in my,
- 56:07you know, in the, the ticket package.
- 56:10Yes. I, uh, I asked the people at the
- 56:13people who want their dreams, so I just submitted it to them,
- 56:16like, hey, these are the drinks that you have to prepare, like,
- 56:19200 drinks. Wow.
- 56:20Yeah, to have drinks and we also have the remote unit.
- 56:24Do not touch that time. Yes, such a cute picture.
- 56:28My team and the lady in pink. She's my decorator.
- 56:35Just guess she's the one decorating shears.
- 56:37Like you narrating the whole like doing?
- 56:39Yes. Everything is first to us is
- 56:47actually more on the wedding wedding the course.
- 56:51Yeah. And then that's it.
- 56:53Yes. Just the one doing the MCA.
- 56:56Oh my god. Wow.
- 56:56Yeah. Because if I, Harper.
- 56:58I don't know. Yeah, that's true.
- 57:02I wouldn't even know either. Yeah, we just put a poster up
- 57:11and we have some games. Everybody wanted to join the
- 57:15old, want to join the game. Yeah, games.
- 57:19We had the first one we have. Is the newspaper dance.
- 57:21I don't know if you are familiar with newspaper dance.
- 57:24Well, thank you play the game like to partner, you know, a
- 57:27partner. Oh yeah and a new play that you
- 57:29played us music and then you dance.
- 57:31And then stop. Okay, so this is music stop.
- 57:34You have to be inside the newspaper.
- 57:37Okay, after that. After that after death then you
- 57:41have to fold the newspaper. Well yeah.
- 57:43I'm gonna, you know, like so I get smaller and smaller as
- 57:52partners. Newspaper.
- 57:58Oh, that's that looks like fun though.
- 58:04Yeah. And then, the second game we had
- 58:06is that we had like a two games. Like the, you know, how the
- 58:11Koreans are very famous for their handles, that, you know,
- 58:14the rock paper and scissors. Yes, yes, we do that, what and
- 58:17then after that, whoever the winners those, I guess we have
- 58:22the fifty, fifty four pairs, then whoever the winner then
- 58:26going to go to the Ground. No.
- 58:28Hey gotcha. Gotcha.
- 58:30Then we have an, how many games we have three games in history?
- 58:33Yeah, you had triggers with everyone had a blast.
- 58:36That's awesome. Good.
- 58:37So so who won who were you're lucky winners, I forgot.
- 58:43What's there are waiting? We're waiting for the pictures.
- 58:47So the locators will be ready. Then we're gonna put it in our
- 58:50Instagram. So you have like, professional
- 58:52photographers come in and what Piper was the picture.
- 58:58Yeah, the photography. And then Piper told me.
- 59:00That was she still busy? Then she's gonna come to the
- 59:04shop and then give it to me. Nice.
- 59:08I'm excited to. So the winners though, they got
- 59:11to have the two tickets, right there was going to be two
- 59:15winners and they got two tickets to see stray kids in Dallas or
- 59:20Fort Worth and Fort Worth. Yeah, damn, that's awesome.
- 59:24And who the little girl 11 of them?
- 59:28She is 15 and the other one is past 18.
- 59:33So she's okay to go as long as there's an adult that can
- 59:36download and so remind us. Like, originally, those tickets
- 59:40are super expensive. What's, what was the original
- 59:42cost for those tickets? Well, it cost me like, you can
- 59:47also determine or in general. Like those tickets though, like,
- 59:52for an average buyer, like us, that ticket would have been
- 59:56what, like five hundred dollars or two hundred.
- 59:58It or where am I? And the resale prices now.
- 1:00:00Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:00:02But when I bought it it's almost show.
- 1:00:05Say it's 800 for the two tickets.
- 1:00:07Wow. It's, you know, like there's all
- 1:00:09there's an add-on. Hmm.
- 1:00:10Yeah, yeah. So that's awesome.
- 1:00:12So two lucky winners. And the other thing is aside
- 1:00:15from the vibe, roffels, 05 Ruffles or five different
- 1:00:20albums, okay? Yeah, but shows it's Five
- 1:00:24albums, right? But it's twice because those
- 1:00:28albums have different versions, so we forever.
- 1:00:32Each album is different. Yeah.
- 1:00:34And then the good thing is like, we also.
- 1:00:38I also give them the official photo cards of each album.
- 1:00:42Yeah, it's good that I collected those.
- 1:00:43So look at you face. I don't like you.
- 1:00:48So that's why I told you can find them.
- 1:00:58And also, they have their own website.
- 1:00:59It's beyond the shirt shop. And we also have Paparazzi,
- 1:01:05because yeah. So like for jewelries, and then
- 1:01:09we also have Piper was also one of the vendors and then I have
- 1:01:13my Filipino friend, that did the food and also Grace market for
- 1:01:21you guys. I'm proud of you guys.
- 1:01:24You guys did well. So from the attendee side, how
- 1:01:27was that? What was that experience?
- 1:01:29Like to. It was so cool to see, like it
- 1:01:31really was. Yeah.
- 1:01:32It felt like helped for the most part, but it was fun.
- 1:01:34Seeing it was. Yeah, you're like wow.
- 1:01:36So many K-pop fans and it was fun things like dancers.
- 1:02:24But they had hey but I they had a good time together like I'm
- 1:02:28gonna buy a lot of tickets. Yeah.
- 1:02:29Now you know anybody so many people want to come in here like
- 1:02:37I'm a big Centre to imagine what it's like if you're gonna have a
- 1:02:49volunteer I'm happy for you guys.
- 1:02:56Thank you. What are you thinking for
- 1:02:59follow-up events or yes? What we already posted an
- 1:03:02Instagram. Oh really?
- 1:03:04You guys are behind. We are
- 1:03:23Still the BTS anniversary. Yeah, actually we were sorry
- 1:03:28Falls in June June 13. I guess.
- 1:03:30Yeah. And then the event place at I
- 1:03:32was looking at the time. They don't have any vacancy on
- 1:03:36those dates that I'm looking even Sunday, even Friday,
- 1:03:39everything is was book and then I just realize, oh, maybe there
- 1:03:45are midday because of July. Nice, what's your capacity for
- 1:03:48this place? This is 450 people.
- 1:03:51So we are Are thinking of selling 400 tickets.
- 1:03:55Yeah. And then 54 us the, you know,
- 1:03:58the volunteers and also the vendors, okay?
- 1:04:04And then I have some calls already up.
- 1:04:06Some people that do the hot, they're doing their own Kpop
- 1:04:10merch. Yeah.
- 1:04:11So I have to talk to them next week.
- 1:04:14Yeah, that's so fun. Having you have two events
- 1:04:17coming up. This one.
- 1:04:19I'm sorry. Sorry, I understood to for a
- 1:04:20second. I have it put together.
- 1:04:22I put it together. Oh okay, post anniversary and
- 1:04:25also the Army day, okay. Got you got you know, you but
- 1:04:28you are right. There's there's another one come
- 1:04:30here because it's a place that, you know, you don't know if it's
- 1:04:36already. So we're excited with this and
- 1:04:42watching out is also with us. I mean of course Bochy not of
- 1:04:47course because we have the key, they sell the Korean dogs there
- 1:04:50to know. They can't or they couldn't be
- 1:04:52couldn't. Yeah, but that we had the donuts
- 1:04:59and then we have the gimbap. Hopefully, I can next time we
- 1:05:02gonna have the too bulky because they have their own kids, they
- 1:05:06have the kitchen. These are actually this event.
- 1:05:09Area have a big stage that we can use.
- 1:05:14They have the ticket booth. Yes, we're you guys, might like
- 1:05:19to be no. And also, we have the kitchen,
- 1:05:24so I have to check the kitchen as well.
- 1:05:26And the other thing that top, what attracts most of the K-pop
- 1:05:30fans is our trading station, trading station?
- 1:05:34Is you guys could bring your precious photo cards because
- 1:05:39somehow Doubles, and then you can trade because if you buy it,
- 1:05:42but sometimes it's expensive. Right?
- 1:05:44Right? Right.
- 1:05:45So those are like collectors, items essentially, write,
- 1:05:48Laura's that, you know, my heart High Roller Laura's.
- 1:05:53Like I love to spend money. The Junior and senior.
- 1:06:41Yeah. Because I told them this is a
- 1:06:43very expensive hobby. Yeah.
- 1:06:44Yeah. It is, yeah, well, most of them
- 1:06:46have but that's other said, like I wasn't looking for a job.
- 1:06:49Like, do you have a vacancy here, funny.
- 1:06:53I also speaking of that, then like are you planning to so like
- 1:06:56if you're already starting to get so much traction and people
- 1:06:59are asking you like, what does it look like to be able to work
- 1:07:02here to work with you? Have you considered, maybe
- 1:07:04expanding the the stop or what are you thinking there I
- 1:07:09believe? The field.
- 1:07:10Ha ha ha, your husband over there.
- 1:07:20Don't look that way. Don't look that way.
- 1:07:21I'll look this way like three shots in his
- 1:07:39It excited. I'm excited because it says the
- 1:07:42pts. You know how big the fandom is?
- 1:07:44Oh yeah. My Army is nothing, you know.
- 1:07:48So let these virgins know about this.
- 1:07:51So I know there's other virgins out there.
- 1:07:53I'm not the only one Are you are your family?
- 1:08:41I like hey, who okay. Oh he's a rapper.
- 1:08:45I haven't heard of him with what the company is.
- 1:08:48He from West, was Jay Park, sold a company named amog, am
- 1:08:58tickled, changing something like that, but I will recommend it
- 1:09:05because that's that kind. Recommendations are we just
- 1:09:18talking like rappers epik High? Yeah for YG.
- 1:09:23Yeah and Tableau yeah I like that.
- 1:09:25I love him. You know he made a song with our
- 1:09:27mmm-hmm. There's yeah that's well.
- 1:09:30Yes he I love. So my God loves your she my
- 1:09:33best. That's my girl.
- 1:09:39Unless you can't it was, oh my God, how do you know what you
- 1:09:42wanted? And what's up bitches?
- 1:09:53But my first, my first problem is actually zico, zico say yeah,
- 1:09:58but my advice is a lot. My daughter said Mom, it's not
- 1:10:01sick old, the Korean said Chico go.
- 1:10:04Okay, so you know and Kpop Road, they also have like like, Live
- 1:10:10music entertainment as well. So they go to like so there's
- 1:10:15like music shows. So they like the when they when
- 1:10:17they like to make a new song. They go to like these music
- 1:10:20shows and sitcoms, yeah, MC countdown show something.
- 1:10:24I thank you guys. Yeah, something like that.
- 1:10:26You know, but like they produce their songs from there because
- 1:10:30everyone watches that, I love those, by the way, this one
- 1:10:34really helps really, hey, hey, you told me because I told you
- 1:10:39You like I like that drink from Gangnam know if I'm gonna make
- 1:10:42it better. Yeah, imma make it better.
- 1:10:44Honestly, Emily has been pining for this episode for like a good
- 1:10:48month now because we need to have, if you like I was like, I
- 1:10:51know what she want. I'ma get it right now, get
- 1:10:54everything for her. I did this for y'all.
- 1:10:57Well I'm glad that we did not make it last time, right?
- 1:10:59Because here you go. You brought your high roller
- 1:11:03with you. I was like, fate.
- 1:11:40Don't even tell me that. Like, don't don't tell me how
- 1:11:42much it is discharging out loud right now.
- 1:11:47I need your pics. Yeah, and pics.
- 1:11:53Yeah. To be honest.
- 1:12:40I'll let you handle food. Like slurping my riddle.
- 1:12:45Nothing like surface. You have it for extra pepper in
- 1:12:49here for $50. Okay.
- 1:12:55Oh my God. What's his name is actually or
- 1:12:57is he still doing those? He was like, one of the biggest
- 1:12:59mug fingers pop it off but bangers that I have no idea.
- 1:13:40No, I like walk by mafia boss, and I think probably my mom is
- 1:13:45so big BTS fan. Right now.
- 1:13:48We have to meet your mom. Yes.
- 1:13:50Oh, you're on E. My she has, she has not been to
- 1:13:54the shop. I need to take her.
- 1:13:55Yes, I did. Come to your shop to buy stuff
- 1:13:58for, you know, you doing that back.
- 1:14:00She loves that bag, she loves it, my mom's a big army fat, she
- 1:14:04loves Jin. Oh, that's a rare, like, they
- 1:14:08don't find people that stand Jenny.
- 1:14:10She loves Yankees like he's so handsome.
- 1:14:13He is like he is the real war. Yeah I know.
- 1:14:37I don't know why but it hit me. Something you know what Korean
- 1:14:45fans? They like go to like even to
- 1:14:48their military base that's and it makes it kind of makes me
- 1:14:51mad. Like I'm like dude just let him
- 1:14:53do his doing from the so explain that real quick.
- 1:14:56Before we move on into other stuff rights because we know
- 1:14:59that or I kind of know that, but again, all of these artists are
- 1:15:04based in Korea and again they all went into some type of we'll
- 1:15:09call it a Boot camp and entertainment boot camp.
- 1:15:12Whether it started at 7 years old or 14 years old, and they
- 1:15:15basically lived in the music industry to essentially, develop
- 1:15:19and grow up into being K-pop artists, or maybe a dancer, or
- 1:15:24maybe an actor. So, why is BTS in?
- 1:15:28Why have, why haven't we heard too much lately and like,
- 1:15:32explain all the stuff about when artists have had to leave the
- 1:15:37group for a second? Because They had to go quote
- 1:15:41unquote, serve time. We haven't heard what?
- 1:15:46Yeah, I'm sorry. I don't understand that
- 1:15:48question. Platform of the question, I just
- 1:15:50so like the army stuff. Like, why we don't hear much
- 1:15:53about the military enlistment? No, I was just curious.
- 1:15:56If you can speak to like, when they enlist or why they have to
- 1:15:59enlist. Because Emily, you've explained
- 1:16:01it to me before. Yeah, because in Korea, it's for
- 1:16:04the for men, it's mandatory in there.
- 1:16:07Like they have to go out some certain age.
- 1:16:10I think it's a cut-off age to go in and you have to go in 128.
- 1:16:15Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:16:26Like half the country's income. Is there the Ambassador?
- 1:16:31Yes. Like male citizens have been
- 1:16:42required between the ages of 18 and 35 to enlist in the Army for
- 1:16:47some type of training. Yeah, I don't want to get too
- 1:16:52much into it but I just feel like they're always like scared
- 1:16:55of War. So I feel like they got to
- 1:16:56prepare everyone just in case. I feel like that might be why
- 1:16:59they like just want everybody to have basic knowledge of like
- 1:17:02military and like how to you know I love me a man in uniform.
- 1:17:37Army for a little bit too, didn't you say that?
- 1:18:07Call for me when you want me to. Yes.
- 1:18:09And I love that about him like that.
- 1:18:13I look at you. I think that that is still so
- 1:18:15crazy though because like you think about these K-pop artists
- 1:18:19and how much money they make that they are still like no but
- 1:18:22my government says I have to do this and my governmental me, I
- 1:18:25have to go over stupid stuff. I bet I feel like they probably
- 1:18:31gave him an option saying that you don't have to because like
- 1:18:34they I mean, they are bad. Like you said, yeah.
- 1:18:37Yeah, they said you don't have to go there, so we're gonna do
- 1:18:43it. I want them all to go already
- 1:19:09like right now and then come back Thanking us.
- 1:19:13Well I'm back in two years and it's fucking do another one.
- 1:19:22Yeah yeah yeah.
- 1:19:41Damn it. That's what there before they
- 1:19:46go. Yeah.
- 1:19:48But you know, hey, they I still love them and they they did,
- 1:19:52they did everything online and I loved it.
- 1:19:55You know, their concerts online, all that stuff.
- 1:19:57Girl, I was up at for commuter myself in my room the same
- 1:20:04concert four times over. Yes.
- 1:20:06Give it to me. I do it.
- 1:20:11I'll watch it. I'll be right there on my living
- 1:20:13room with my glow. Stick.
- 1:20:37Did you remember when they had their cinemas as well?
- 1:20:40But I went. There you go.
- 1:20:42I will not go to the second one. The second one.
- 1:20:46The one, the one in Busan girl. Brooklyn stop.
- 1:21:08The video is zoom in and go slow mo but song at least on people's
- 1:21:17junks or what? J-hope fucked it up.
- 1:21:24Oh my god, when they saying the, uh, was that uh yeah, it's like
- 1:21:294.3. 540 Cipher came on. I lost it.
- 1:21:35Great arm was like, this is the last time.
- 1:21:37Singing the song Everybody. We're moving on to the bigger
- 1:21:39thing, better thing, bigger and better things.
- 1:21:43So sad about it is my favorite. Well guys, we going to go to
- 1:21:47different segments right now. I loved I'll talk to PCS with
- 1:21:49you all day. I love to but we're doing this
- 1:21:53new thing called lightning round.
- 1:21:55I asked you these questions and you guys answer them quit.
- 1:21:59Okay, wait. So what's this comes in whatever
- 1:22:01comes in your mind. That's dangerous.
- 1:22:03That's okay. Are you ready?
- 1:22:05Yes. No, I'll do it.
- 1:22:14So who's your favorite K-Pop group, faith?
- 1:22:19How quick can I pick two? Yeah.
- 1:22:22Okay, 80s and 90s. Okay, perfect, what was your
- 1:22:27most recent Kpop Concert Experience?
- 1:22:29Most? Thanks 80s, black pink, black
- 1:22:38paint. Okay.
- 1:22:41Name to K-pop groups, that you would recommend to virgins, BTS.
- 1:22:47Mmm. EXT.
- 1:22:49Okay, it's a to say three, are you a member of a Kpop fan club?
- 1:23:05No, no. Dan's.
- 1:23:18I said, have you ever met any of your favorite Korean Idols in
- 1:23:22person? No, no III lie.
- 1:23:27I lie, I lie so hard. How do I short sorcery?
- 1:23:34I was I was in Vegas while BTS was therefore for the Grammys
- 1:23:40back in April. And I me and my friend made a
- 1:23:42rash decision to see silk Sonic last moment and you decided you
- 1:23:48See then I'll listen listen I got sober.
- 1:23:51You're right. So we sat like two seats or two
- 1:23:54rows behind the VIP section and I'm like distracted or not in
- 1:23:59all of a sudden. My friend goes Rula, who are
- 1:24:02those people? And I turn my head and I swear
- 1:24:05to God the from where I'm at to like where the window is?
- 1:24:08Maybe like what? 70 or something.
- 1:24:11Yeah JK V. + J. Hope I give myself Goosebumps.
- 1:24:17I swear to God. And then you hope with them.
- 1:24:20Yes, we made eye contact like Jack, Atlas, and here's the
- 1:24:25band. No, like, literally, I had a
- 1:24:28full mental breakdown, like, I was trying to be calm about it.
- 1:24:31Like, I was just crying my eyes out, but I'm not going to be
- 1:24:34that fan to be like, I'm just like this, like I'm watching
- 1:24:46like, Bruno, Mars and handsome. And fun of me, right?
- 1:24:48And then like naughty has me feeling.
- 1:24:51I'm just like, dude, I just remember somebody, like, I had
- 1:24:55my, I was like, I'm gonna stand up this entire concert because
- 1:24:58this is gonna be my moment. I can feel it, do it.
- 1:25:00And I was up the entire time and I felt someone's glaring at me.
- 1:25:04Like, and I look over and J case Terry, did you guys watch his
- 1:25:07mind? I just like look.
- 1:25:11And he smiles and I just like, smile my heart.
- 1:25:18As part of it though, I could be making this all up, you don't
- 1:25:20know. Because in silk Sonic, they make
- 1:25:22you put your phones away. So your phone is in a pouch so
- 1:25:28you can't actually like you, it's locked like you only making
- 1:25:31it an open as with a magnet. So I'm over here, like prying
- 1:25:35that damn phone on my goddamn ready to get this out now.
- 1:25:38Crazy. Yeah, but I mean there was
- 1:25:41Witnesses and I'm not, it was just so unreal, you know?
- 1:25:44Like it was just yeah, I'm still proud.
- 1:25:46That's awesome. So crazy.
- 1:25:48I'm happy for you. I'm jealous.
- 1:25:49I'm happy for me. So yes, I did kind of meet some
- 1:25:52of my ideas. No, no.
- 1:25:55Okay, can you speak Korean? Oh no, not after all those
- 1:26:04kdramas, you would think, I would know.
- 1:26:07I am, girl, do you have any advice for someone who's
- 1:26:16starting out and who wants Start out in Kpop.
- 1:26:19Well, do your research first because I did not just for of
- 1:26:26the moment a person I would say it can be overwhelming, but
- 1:26:32definitely start with one group and focus on one group first
- 1:26:36because like you can look at it all and be like, oh my God, this
- 1:26:39is a lot to take in. So if you think, if you focus on
- 1:26:42one group will be easier like everything else.
- 1:26:44Will start falling, you'll find other groups and they won't be
- 1:26:46as overwhelming. Yeah.
- 1:26:48Just had fun. Yeah, peace is.
- 1:26:50Look at these little of last living on the internet.
- 1:26:53Oh, good. Just be nice.
