- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to College Football Addiction. We are presented by PrizePix.
- 0:03Speaker 1: More on them in just a moment. I've got Drake C.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Toll on Locked On Big 12, the Drake Toll Show,
- 0:08Speaker 1: every day on Westwood One. We have controversy, and Drake,
- 0:12Speaker 1: I know it's going to knock you out of your
- 0:14Speaker 1: hotel room chair, but it involves me. How shocked are
- 0:18Speaker 1: you that Lane would be at the center of another controversy?
- 0:21Speaker 1: And we haven't even made it a year since the
- 0:24Speaker 1: whole Ole Miss situation.
- 0:27Speaker 2: What a... What a loser. And... Like I don't, I don't,
- 0:35Speaker 2: I don't hate Lane Kiffin. I never have. I think it's,
- 0:38Speaker 2: it's a grift. A lot of what he does, right?
- 0:39Speaker 3: Snapchatting girls to the Pilates, to the documentary that comes
- 0:42Speaker 3: out in November, December in the middle of an Ole
- 0:44Speaker 3: Miss season.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Where he's like, I've changed. I'm a new man.
- 0:47Speaker 3: My family loves it here. And he leaves two weeks later.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I think the whole, I think it's, it's a grift
- 0:52Speaker 3: and it's kind of hilarious. He's in the fan, the,
- 0:54Speaker 3: the Dr. Pepper fan, whatever they call it, commercials now
- 0:57Speaker 3: to fan fansville.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Um, shout out the folks, you know, Those are all hilarious.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I'm not a Lane Kiffin hater, but what a loser
- 1:06Speaker 3: in this context. Because what he said is, I'm going
- 1:10Speaker 3: to recruit NFL players. And now we've heard from multiple
- 1:13Speaker 3: sources he's gone behind the back of the SEC, the NCAA,
- 1:16Speaker 3: to ask these players, hey, you could just sue and
- 1:19Speaker 3: then you could still come play for us. But I'm
- 1:21Speaker 3: thinking about the six, seven, eight, nine guys on his
- 1:23Speaker 3: roster right now who are like, whoa, dog, I've been
- 1:26Speaker 3: your starting defensive tackle. I've been your starting safety. I've
- 1:29Speaker 3: been your starting wide receiver. And you're going to get
- 1:30Speaker 3: these Ole Miss guys to come play here? That's unethical
- 1:34Speaker 3: and immoral in college football.
- 1:35Speaker 2: It is.
- 1:35Speaker 3: And Kiffin's justification, he said it to the podium, and
- 1:38Speaker 3: I need everyone. You can be mad at me for
- 1:40Speaker 3: calling him a loser. I need everyone just to hold
- 1:42Speaker 3: on to this. When Kiffin tells you, oh, if we
- 1:47Speaker 3: didn't do it, somebody else would. If we didn't do it,
- 1:49Speaker 3: this is going to happen somewhere else. Kirby Smart got
- 1:51Speaker 3: to the podium, the same microphone this week. And you
- 1:53Speaker 3: know what he said, TJ? He said, we will not
- 1:56Speaker 3: recruit NFL players. At Georgia, my guys fought the whole offseason.
- 2:00Speaker 3: They are going to play. They're going to start for
- 2:02Speaker 3: the Bulldogs. They've given me their blood, their sweat, their tears.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Those are my guys. I'll go to war for them.
- 2:06Speaker 3: We will not touch NFL players. So don't tell me
- 2:10Speaker 3: that Lane Kiffin's only doing this because like, well, somebody
- 2:12Speaker 3: else was going to. Ma'am, there are commissioners, coaches, schools
- 2:16Speaker 3: that are saying outright, even if it's legal, we're not
- 2:19Speaker 3: going to do it because we know it's not right
- 2:21Speaker 3: for college sports. Kiffin has free will and autonomy to
- 2:25Speaker 3: do the exact same thing. There's a reason Kirby has
- 2:27Speaker 3: two national titles and Kiffin has zero, man. Like Kirby
- 2:31Speaker 3: and a lot of these coaches are saying, hey, we're
- 2:32Speaker 3: trying to fix college sports. Kiffin's trying to exploit the
- 2:35Speaker 3: rules to make it worse. How do you defend that?
- 2:38Speaker 3: How do you, as LSU fans that have been, and
- 2:41Speaker 3: I think most people have the common sense to not
- 2:42Speaker 3: defend it, how could you defend that? Lane Kiffin's off
- 2:45Speaker 3: his rocker, and every semblance of why I thought, all right,
- 2:47Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin, is he weird?
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yes. Is it mostly benign? Also yes. This isn't benign.
- 2:55Speaker 3: These are actions that Kiffin is taking that are actively
- 2:57Speaker 3: hurting college sports, and I think all of us as
- 3:00Speaker 3: a collective whole that love college sports.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Are over it. So here's what, and I'm not pushing
- 3:06Speaker 4: back on any of that. Here's the defense, right? I'll
- 3:09Speaker 4: give it to you. The defense is these.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Players made a decision, and Lane said this from the podium,
- 3:16Speaker 1: so I'm not breaking any news here. The defense is
- 3:18Speaker 1: these players made a decision without knowing that the five
- 3:21Speaker 1: for five would eventually include them, and that's not fair
- 3:25Speaker 1: to them.
- 3:26Speaker 4: And to that point, I completely agree.
- 3:29Speaker 1: It is not fair. Do you want to know something else, Drake?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Life is not fair. Life sucks sometimes. Life absolutely blows.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And so, yeah, I agree. That really is unfortunate that
- 3:41Speaker 1: that happened. You know what else is unfortunate? That Tim
- 3:44Speaker 1: Tebow wasn't around when NIL existed. Because my goodness, you
- 3:47Speaker 1: think he's rich now. What if he just started with that?
- 3:50Speaker 1: You know what sucks?
- 3:51Speaker 4: Vince Young was not around when NIL existed. You know
- 3:54Speaker 4: what's unfortunate?
- 3:55Speaker 1: Reggie Bush had his Heisman Trophy taken away because NIL
- 3:59Speaker 1: didn't exist then.
- 4:00Speaker 4: So, yeah, man, life is unfair.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I think a sane person could look at this situation
- 4:06Speaker 1: and say, man, that really sucks for those kids because
- 4:07Speaker 1: they would have– I even believe them when they say it.
- 4:10Speaker 1: They probably would have come back if they had another
- 4:12Speaker 1: year because they knew they'd prepare themselves better or they
- 4:14Speaker 1: knew they weren't going to make it in the NFL anyway.
- 4:16Speaker 1: So take the extra years check, right? Hey guys, I'll
- 4:18Speaker 1: get right back to chatting with Drake, but we have
- 4:20Speaker 1: real actual football happening this weekend. Make sure you are
- 4:25Speaker 1: locked in on the price picks app. All new users
- 4:27Speaker 1: there play $ 5, get 150 in lineups. If that $ 5
- 4:31Speaker 1: lineup wins using code HMA, I've given you picks all week.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Listen to what I'm doing. My Ava's passing total is
- 4:37Speaker 1: now a free play. It's half a yard. Make sure
- 4:39Speaker 1: you grab that one. I still really like the rushing
- 4:43Speaker 1: total for Ashton Daniels. Give me the more on that
- 4:45Speaker 1: as well. The more people I talk with around Florida State,
- 4:48Speaker 1: the more I think they roll him out a couple
- 4:50Speaker 1: of times and let him take off. I think they
- 4:52Speaker 1: have a significant talent advantage, and I think 38.5 is
- 4:55Speaker 1: way too low for him.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Give me the more on both those. Pair them together.
- 4:58Speaker 4: You've got yourself a lineup.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Boom.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Make some money with prize picks. We appreciate them for
- 5:02Speaker 1: their support. Now back to Drake. I completely agree with
- 5:05Speaker 1: all of that. At the end of the day, it's
- 5:06Speaker 1: still not fair. And when you have guys like Kirby
- 5:08Speaker 1: in a bit of microphone saying what he says, when
- 5:10Speaker 1: you have Dan Lanning giving quotes to on three saying.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Man, I'm doing it again.
- 5:14Speaker 1: If this was, if, if I think we would look
- 5:17Speaker 1: at it differently, if Marcus Freeman was doing it and
- 5:19Speaker 1: Mario Cristobal was doing it and Dan Lanning was doing
- 5:21Speaker 1: it and Steve Sarkeesian was doing it. Kirby smart was
- 5:23Speaker 1: doing it. And Kalen DeBoer was doing it. Joey McGuire
- 5:25Speaker 1: was doing it. And Lane Kiffin was doing it. I
- 5:27Speaker 1: think we would say, well, Man, that's your top eight coaches. Yeah,
- 5:30Speaker 1: everybody's doing it, man.
- 5:31Speaker 4: That's fine.
- 5:32Speaker 1: It's just the sport sucks right now. It just is
- 5:35Speaker 1: what it is. No big deal.
- 5:37Speaker 4: It is one guy.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It is one SEC president that didn't vote for the penalties.
- 5:45Speaker 4: It is one team that this circles around.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So yeah, other people might've done it, but they're saying,
- 5:50Speaker 1: you know, you didn't mention this. And I appreciate you
- 5:52Speaker 1: talking about the players that are now going to get
- 5:55Speaker 1: jumped on the depth chart. They just went through an
- 5:56Speaker 1: entire off season training camp, an entire fall camp, an
- 6:01Speaker 1: entire spring period, an entire off season conditioning. And it's like, yeah,
- 6:06Speaker 1: we'll take that NFL reject and bring them back and
- 6:08Speaker 1: put them over you. That's not fair on that side.
- 6:11Speaker 1: The other side is this. And this is what my
- 6:13Speaker 1: thought has been. Is it really worth it? Like, is
- 6:16Speaker 1: it worth it, man? Like, they're not moving LSU's win
- 6:20Speaker 1: total in Vegas on this. They're not changing their odds.
- 6:23Speaker 1: They're not bringing in a Sam Levitt. They're not bringing
- 6:25Speaker 1: in a Brendan Sorsby. They're not bringing in a guy
- 6:29Speaker 1: who can really make a difference. Now, depth is important.
- 6:33Speaker 1: In the SEC, it's very important because they play a
- 6:35Speaker 1: lot of tough games. They play Clemson out of conference.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I understand all that. But, man, for two or three
- 6:40Speaker 1: depth pieces, is this really worth it? everything that's coming
- 6:46Speaker 1: with it and at the end of the day maybe
- 6:47Speaker 1: it is to lane you know like obviously it is
- 6:49Speaker 1: because they're doing it but that would be my question
- 6:51Speaker 1: is i think kirby looks at this and says well
- 6:54Speaker 1: none of those guys would come in and start for
- 6:55Speaker 1: me they'd be depth pieces and so i don't want
- 6:57Speaker 1: to mess up the chemistry i don't want the pr
- 7:00Speaker 1: nightmare that this is i just i'm gonna go out
- 7:01Speaker 1: and win games because that's what i do at the
- 7:03Speaker 1: end of the day i'm kirby smart i win games
- 7:05Speaker 1: lane always feels like he kind of needs a gimmick
- 7:07Speaker 1: he always needs a shtick he always needs to be
- 7:10Speaker 1: doing something and.
- 7:11Speaker 4: There's Listen, he wins a lot of games, too. Don't
- 7:13Speaker 4: get me wrong.
- 7:14Speaker 1: But I just wonder, man, is it worth all of
- 7:16Speaker 1: this for the fact that life isn't fair for five.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Or six guys? I mean, I don't know. To me,
- 7:23Speaker 4: it's not. To Lane, it is. That's why he makes
- 7:25Speaker 4: millions of dollars. And I talk on YouTube, though.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I don't blame the kids. I don't blame the kids.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Because if I was 22 years old and you told
- 7:33Speaker 3: me the graduating class before you and after you got
- 7:35Speaker 3: five years of college ball, oh, and by the way,
- 7:37Speaker 3: you can make $ 3 million in college or $ 800, 000 in
- 7:40Speaker 3: the NFL.
- 7:41Speaker 2: If you told me you can make... You can work
- 7:44Speaker 2: at McDonald's for 800K. Great.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I'm going to McDonald's. Or you can work at Burger
- 7:47Speaker 3: King for three mil. I'm suing everybody. I'm going to
- 7:51Speaker 3: Burger King. I'm getting out of my McDonald's contract. So
- 7:54Speaker 3: I don't blame the kids. It takes the adults in
- 7:56Speaker 3: the room to say, hey, I know it's not fair.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I know the rules kind of suck, but.
- 8:00Speaker 3: That's like, like you said, that's like, and so another example,
- 8:03Speaker 3: Kirby Smart used an example. He said, 20 years ago,
- 8:06Speaker 3: he said, I had a kid play in the SEC
- 8:07Speaker 3: championship game. One play, one play, the whole season, lost
- 8:10Speaker 3: his red shirt. You lost an entire year. He said,
- 8:13Speaker 3: we couldn't appeal it. That wasn't, we sue you. It wasn't, nope,
- 8:16Speaker 3: your year's gone.
- 8:17Speaker 4: You know what?
- 8:18Speaker 2: The kid put his head down and said, that stinks.
- 8:20Speaker 2: And then kept going.
- 8:21Speaker 3: He said, two years later, they changed the rule. Now
- 8:23Speaker 3: you have four games to play a red shirt. That
- 8:25Speaker 3: poor kid was devastated. Like, why didn't I get that rule?
- 8:28Speaker 3: But you know what he said?
- 8:28Speaker 2: Put his head down. Well, got to keep going. Why?
- 8:31Speaker 3: Because rules change for the betterment of college football. Rules
- 8:34Speaker 3: change for the betterment of college sports.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Rules hurt.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Sometimes, you know, not all positive change. But as these
- 8:41Speaker 3: rules change, there are going to be classes of kids
- 8:43Speaker 3: who are like, I wish I would have had that.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I'm sorry. You can't.
- 8:47Speaker 3: And again– LSU is tarnishing a good brand, one of
- 8:51Speaker 3: the top three brands, maybe top five brands in college
- 8:54Speaker 3: football all time. It's tarnishing that over a guy who's,
- 8:59Speaker 3: We're nine days away from them playing Clemson. They're going
- 9:03Speaker 3: to play a college football game against Davos Sweeney, a
- 9:06Speaker 3: national championship program and head coach.
- 9:08Speaker 2: And we can't say ding about it.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I want to know who the two deep is for
- 9:11Speaker 3: Clemson and who they have linebacker going against the LSU
- 9:14Speaker 3: front five.
- 9:15Speaker 2: But we don't get to talk about that.
- 9:16Speaker 3: No, Lane, we're talking about NFL players coming back to
- 9:19Speaker 3: hopefully play on that front five.
- 9:20Speaker 2: That's a problem. And I asked this question on the
- 9:23Speaker 2: Drake Toll Show, Westwood One Sports. Somebody call me. Our
- 9:27Speaker 2: phone number is 310-840-4910.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Somebody call me and tell me right now, just say
- 9:31Speaker 3: it out loud. NFL players should be able to come
- 9:34Speaker 3: back and play college football.
- 9:35Speaker 2: No one can.
- 9:36Speaker 3: No one can say that sentence because it's just, it's dumbfounding.
- 9:40Speaker 3: It doesn't exist.
- 9:41Speaker 2: It's a fugazi. It's stupid. And we all can agree
- 9:43Speaker 2: on that. Everybody except for Lane Kiffin.
- 9:46Speaker 1: What I would like to see one day, Drake, is
- 9:48Speaker 1: I would like for you to be driving down a
- 9:52Speaker 1: road and I would like for you to speed through
- 9:54Speaker 1: a work zone where workers are present. And I would
- 9:57Speaker 1: like you to get a double, I would like your fine.
- 10:00Speaker 4: To be doubled.
- 10:00Speaker 1: And then three weeks later, when that construction is done,
- 10:03Speaker 1: it's not in Florida because nothing's ever taken three weeks.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I'd like to speed through that same thing and pay
- 10:07Speaker 1: half the fine that you pay. And I'd like for
- 10:09Speaker 1: you to go to the judge and say, Hey, wait,
- 10:11Speaker 1: when TJ sped, he only had to pay half the fine.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And you know, that judge is going to tell you
- 10:18Speaker 1: life isn't fair, Drake. Life is not fair, and it sucks.
- 10:21Speaker 3: That is, unless I'm an NFL player, at which point
- 10:24Speaker 3: I'm given a Pro Bowl honors and a Hall of
- 10:26Speaker 3: Fame nod.
- 10:28Speaker 1: The big question to answer there is, is the speeding
- 10:32Speaker 1: trap in Baton Rouge or not?
- 10:34Speaker 4: If it's in Baton Rouge, you might have a case.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Or Athens, Georgia, too. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:41Speaker 4: I will never speed in Athens with, well, they ain't
- 10:44Speaker 4: going to look at me.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I think I'm probably fine.
- 10:46Speaker 1: So see toll locked on big 12, the Drake toll
- 10:50Speaker 1: show on Westwood one.
- 10:51Speaker 4: I hope you guys call him tomorrow. Appreciate you for
- 10:53Speaker 4: hanging out, man. We'll see you next week.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Anytime TJ.
