HEIST: Brink's-Mat Gold
On 26 November 1983, six armed men entered a Brink's-Mat warehouse at Heathrow and removed three tonnes of gold bullion worth approximately 26 million pounds in one of the most consequential robberies in British history. Decades later, the majority of the gold's value remains unrecovered, the full identities of all six raiders have never been confirmed in court, and several deaths linked to the proceeds remain unsolved under active Metropolitan Police review. Operation Abelard continues to examine unsolved killings connected to the financial network the robbery created.
