- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Hey, can I give you a really quick heads up before we start all the fun?
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, of course.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: So I'm driving up Coleman today.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: I took the hill over to drop back down.
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: Sometimes I'll take Hoffman.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: Sometimes I'll take the hill over, right?
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 0:11SPEAKER_01: Deer.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Right in front of me.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Like, thank God I was only going like 33 because I had the room, but I'm gonna tell you uh the Wild Kingdom is out today.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: And I don't know if it's because it's rainy and windy today, like it's a mix of both, and it's got them fired up, but I don't know.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: It seems like they get closer too.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: We were driving somewhere the other day, and I I honestly I don't remember where it was, and it it's just sauntering, like it's the catwalk.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Excuse me.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Oh, this thing was in a full run to probably go find a mate.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Holy jeez.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, in my case, I'm like, I are you gonna move?
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Lady, on my time is what the deer is.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: My spot.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: I'm like, okay.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: Uh just be dumb.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, because you know, who wants to text us this morning and say, Well, hit that deer.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Thanks for warning me.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Well, you've been warned.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I haven't, I have not, oh my god, where's some wood?
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: I have not hit a deer in 20 years.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, God, that's good.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: When's the last time you hit a deer?
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: It was uh when Liddy was three, which is four years ago.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: I was coming up over one of these hills, drop getting ready to drop into West Elmira from the other side of the river.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: I don't know, it was like old telephone road or something.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: I can't remember the name of this.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: You know, your GPS goes, hey, this will save you three minutes.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it cost me$500.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Don't you hate that when you take one option thinking it's gonna be the better option and then it just bites you in the butt?
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: And 20 years later, here we are.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Mine was on the Miracle Mile 20 years ago, which Oh, that's right.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: Because I remember it was so random, like a miracle mile.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: That's exactly I just moved here.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: I'm like, this is what I get.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: What a welcome to the twin tiers.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: And everyone in the office was like, Are you sure?
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Miracle Mile?
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: I didn't really know where things were at that point.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I'm like, yeah, it's it was right by the Mark Twain golf course.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Well, and then Well, you figure they're running because they think it's an open field.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Just wait two hours until those golf balls get going.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Or they're ready to hit hit the 18.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Or the nine.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Do you remember?
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: It's gotta be 15 years ago.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Uh, right outside our window, the animal control showed up.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: They had to shoot a deer that got caught in the fence.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Here we are.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: Did you actually shoot the deer?
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: You don't remember this?
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: All of a sudden we're just gonna remember that part.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, I remember that vividly.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: Well, the weirdest part was we're sitting here, we're just doing the show, you know, talking about God knows only knows what we were getting into, right?
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: And uh all of a sudden we hear a pop, pop, and we're like, that's a sound you don't hear that often.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, you're not really, you know, and then we realized that they had to, uh, a deer got stuck in the fence and they had to, well, do what they did.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Do you think that they took that deer home for dinner?
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: I would hope.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's it's not like it's roadkill, it was literally right here, and they didn't It was a fresh kill on our property.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Last night, my uh aunt was having dinner, she was hosting a dinner, and my dad and I talked on the phone.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: He said, I didn't go because she was serving venison.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: I'm like, you didn't even go at all?
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And he said, Nope.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: I am right there with your dad.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: Sorry, I know that this is sacrilegious to say here, but I am not a venison person, no matter how many.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: The only person that has ever made something venison that I've been able to take is one of Terry's buddies, Big John from the uh garage up in uh Montour.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he must marinade the thing for six months before it goes on a smoker.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, all right, I'll try a piece of it.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: And really all you taste is all the marinade and everything.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: So other than that, no, not a venison person.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: It's the same with meatloaf.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Everyone says, Oh, my meatloaf is so great.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: My venison is so great.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: I don't, I don't want your meatloaf.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Even my friend Elena said it to me last week when she was here, and she's like, Oh, but I love my meatloaf.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Of course you do.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: So the the the studio door was closed this morning.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I come in, I said, uh what's going on?
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what's happening?
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: And there's a very good reason because usually, even if I'm voicing a commercial, I'll leave the door open.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I don't get embarrassed.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: I've been voicing commercials for long enough that hearing the sound of my voice, I actually love it.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Talk more, Ellie.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: But then this commercial request came in from one of our sister stations, which is out of market.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Now I have never heard of this business, but we need it here.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: It's called Hot Rods Wiener Wagon.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we do.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: And they asked for a sexy, sultry voice, which is interesting because it was the first time I talked this morning.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: And my voice wasn't quite perfect.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: It wasn't quite warmed up.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Well, the the the lines in the as soon as I saw the script, I was like, I gotta close the door.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: This is a little too hot for the producer.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the lines were things like um something about uh well, here, play the audio.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: You want me to go?
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: Well, I give me oh, you want your audio?
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: I was gonna just to give you like a second, don't play the whole thing because it's very embarrassing, to be honest.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: I can't play it on that.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: I'm recording on that.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Oh shoot.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: All right, well I was gonna give I was gonna get a uh a a music bed for you, some sultry music so you could just sort of reenact it.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Here.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Here, just go ahead.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: Give me give me give me a couple lines.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Hold on.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Let me pull up the script.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Whoa you see how quick I am.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Let me pull up the script.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Hold on a second.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: What was the name of the business again?
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Hot Rod's Wiener Wagon.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, I don't have the script anymore.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Because once I record it in some.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, it disappears.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Well, fake.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: But basically, it was like everyone deserves a juicy wiener.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: I'm loving this.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: Keep going.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: At Hot Rods Wiener Wagon, we serve them up plump.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: One more line, please.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Saddle up for the green wagon.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Saddle up! I don't know.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: I didn't read the script.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Saddle up for the hottest wiener in town.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: This is why I had to close the door.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: It was too steamy this morning.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: Woof.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: Humidity's kicking off in the studio, too.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: We better dial down the AC.
