- 0:22SPEAKER_02: We love Joe Stone Crab.
- 0:23SPEAKER_02: We went, off show, and we were home in 25 minutes.
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: And we're like, people wait all year to come here.
- 0:29SPEAKER_02: And like this is their vacation, and we live in their vacation world.
- 0:33Dayna Roselli: Plus, we talked with the head of the Forbes travel guide while she was in town, what she thinks Las Vegas does right and what could be improved.
- 0:41Sean McAllister: And a new luxurious pool cafe opens at a popular resort on the strip.
- 0:46Sean McAllister: And here's a perk you don't have to be a guest of the hotel to go there.
- 0:51Dayna Roselli: All that and more coming up on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: Vegas Revealed, presented by Level Up Law, starts now.
- 1:01Dayna Roselli: Welcome everyone to Vegas Revealed, episode 214.
- 1:05Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli and Sean McAllister here.
- 1:08Dayna Roselli: Thanks for listening.
- 1:09Dayna Roselli: We're happy you're here with us, and we've got a lot to discuss and some good interviews coming up for you today.
- 1:13Sean McAllister: Yeah, we do.
- 1:14Sean McAllister: It's a packed show.
- 1:16Sean McAllister: As usual, you'll uh hear from a lot more people than you normally hear from in a regular Vegas Revealed podcast.
- 1:24Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 1:24Dayna Roselli: You know, when we started the podcast, we had interviews in, like a lot of interviews, more interviews, or we felt like we needed an interview every podcast.
- 1:31Dayna Roselli: And then people wrote us and said, you know what, we like when you guys talk about your experiences and your knowledge.
- 1:36Dayna Roselli: So we we kind of stayed a little bit away from it every now and then.
- 1:39Dayna Roselli: But now, you know, we have the TV show and we're getting so many interviews for content that we like to share those here too, but we're keeping them brief.
- 1:48Dayna Roselli: So you're not gonna hear a 10-minute interview.
- 1:51Dayna Roselli: You know, you'll probably hear, you know, a few minutes, hopefully.
- 1:55Dayna Roselli: I mean, unless it's like amazing and we're like, you want to listen to this whole thing, then but we're also from the news world.
- 2:01Dayna Roselli: Sean and I have been in television news for a long time and we know how to condense and keep it tight, pick the best sound bites, right?
- 2:08Sean McAllister: Yeah, but no, we're loving the ability to be able to focus completely on the podcast and the TV show now, though.
- 2:14Sean McAllister: And that's why we're able to go out and get these new interviews for you.
- 2:18Dayna Roselli: Definitely.
- 2:18Dayna Roselli: And we're, you know, we're trying to make them a little different too.
- 2:20Dayna Roselli: So, like something you may see in the TV show, um, may be in may not be, sorry, in the audio podcast, vice versa.
- 2:30Dayna Roselli: So we figure, you know, we have different listenership, right?
- 2:33Dayna Roselli: People from all around the world, people from um cities.
- 2:36Dayna Roselli: In fact, hold on, let me pull up our latest statistics.
- 2:38Sean McAllister: Oh, do you you have some stats for me, Rosalie?
- 2:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I was looking in our little Buzz Sprout app and I was like, wow, there's some really good stats in here that I never really paid attention to.
- 2:47Dayna Roselli: 153 countries and territories listen to us.
- 2:50Sean McAllister: Well, hello to all 5153 countries of you.
- 2:54Dayna Roselli: And 7,855 cities.
- 2:57Dayna Roselli: Dang.
- 2:57Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: And so um, maybe we should do this every week because you know what else Buzz Sprout gives us is the news, like the new cities that have come on board.
- 3:05Sean McAllister: We've got like Oh, are we gonna do new city shout outs?
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: I think we should do new city shout outs.
- 3:09Dayna Roselli: Here we go.
- 3:10Dayna Roselli: Let's look for this week.
- 3:11Dayna Roselli: We have uh a couple new cities that have listened.
- 3:14Dayna Roselli: Portage, Michigan.
- 3:16Sean McAllister: Hello, Portage, Michigan, Danville, Kentucky.
- 3:19Sean McAllister: Oh, Kentucky!
- 3:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and then Manville, Texas.
- 3:24Sean McAllister: Texas ringing into.
- 3:26Dayna Roselli: And then there's another one that doesn't have it's interesting, it's just called Celestia.
- 3:31Dayna Roselli: And I don't know if that's a territory or what, but S-I-L-E-S-I-A with no see in front of the comma.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: There's no like so I feel like it's an area.
- 3:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 3:41Sean McAllister: I wonder if that's like a a galaxy far, far away.
- 3:44Sean McAllister: It could be what it sounds like the aliens listening to us, tapping into our podcast beams.
- 3:50Sean McAllister: We're popular with the aliens.
- 3:52Dayna Roselli: Anyway, yes.
- 3:53Dayna Roselli: Um, so the TV show and the uh audio episode are a little bit different, but sometimes they will have some of the same elements.
- 3:58Sean McAllister: They will.
- 3:59Sean McAllister: Well, shall we start and uh get into the news that's happening here in Las Vegas?
- 4:04Sean McAllister: A hot topic is the fact that uh pretty soon Las Vegas could be Hollywood 2.0, right?
- 4:12Sean McAllister: With plans for a big new movie studio being built here.
- 4:16Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 4:17Dayna Roselli: Mark Wahlberg had talked about this ever since he moved here, the actor Mark Wahlberg.
- 4:22Dayna Roselli: Um, or maybe he's the singer to you, as you know him as Marky Mark.
- 4:25Dayna Roselli: Marky Mark and the funky bunch.
- 4:27Dayna Roselli: But anyway, he moved here saying he had hope for this.
- 4:29Dayna Roselli: And now um Sony and the Howard Hughes Corporation have kind of come together, pitched this.
- 4:35Dayna Roselli: The Clark County zoning board, I guess, made some approvals, and so we're one step closer to this Summerlin movie studio.
- 4:42Dayna Roselli: It's gonna have 10 sound stages.
- 4:45Dayna Roselli: Um, and apparently he said, you know, like 10,000 possible jobs too for mostly uh locals.
- 4:53Sean McAllister: Yeah, I know that there's been talk about the fact that, well, Mark has said that he uh, you know, in his grand plan to have a movie studio here, he wanted to employ a large percentage of locals you know to keep the studio running and fill all those jobs, which I think is great.
- 5:13Sean McAllister: Um, but it seems like uh from some recent news reports that there are some residents in the area where this studio is being proposed who aren't entirely excited about the fact that um they could have a studio in their backyards.
- 5:30Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 5:31Sean McAllister: But I think it's good for business, it's a great way to diversify the economy in Las Vegas, and logistically it makes sense being so close to LA that you know that people could just bop back and forth.
- 5:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah, because we had someone write us on Twitter too, saying the people at Siena are not thrilled.
- 5:49Dayna Roselli: So, and we saw them recently speaking at a meeting.
- 5:51Dayna Roselli: It makes sense.
- 5:52Dayna Roselli: If it's your neighborhood, I get it.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be great for like housing prices will probably go up, which means you could sell your house for a great price, but people in Siena probably aren't in that mode if they want to sell their house or in their their house for life now, and so I understand um you know both sides of it, and I think hopefully, as people are vocal, that at least helps the other side learn okay, here are the pluses, here are the negatives, here's what the concerns are, and then from there maybe they, you know, listen to some of those concerns and address them.
- 6:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, and find some common ground.
- 6:27Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 6:27Dayna Roselli: Hopefully.
- 6:28Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 6:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 6:29Dayna Roselli: But yeah, it's gonna be great for um it's gonna be great for Las Vegas to have another industry, I think.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: I think because we learned during COVID when tourism is your only industry, it you really cripples you when when tourism goes away.
- 6:43Dayna Roselli: Tourism goes away or things have to shut down, or you know, so I mean, I think having another industry is great.
- 6:49Dayna Roselli: You know, it is kind of true when you think about it.
- 6:51Dayna Roselli: Like, do we want the extra people and traffic?
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: I guess not.
- 6:56Dayna Roselli: But hopefully, if most of the jobs are locals that already live here, but we've got to have people with the experience to take those jobs.
- 7:04Dayna Roselli: So I have could only imagine some people are gonna have to move here from out of town.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: I don't know, there are pluses and negatives.
- 7:10Sean McAllister: But there's already already people who are moving here from out of town, and traffic's already a mess.
- 7:15Dayna Roselli: Oh, well, it is.
- 7:16Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 7:16Dayna Roselli: I guess this will just make it worse, but it's gonna be it's it's gonna be great.
- 7:20Dayna Roselli: I love it, and I think that having another industry and you know, all the eyes on Las Vegas for this, it's gonna be wonderful.
- 7:26Dayna Roselli: When I filled in at the Reels channel, I flew into New Mexico and um Albuquerque, and they have a huge soundstage and film studio there, and they do the Reels show, and they were shooting Breaking Bad at the time that was on television, and it was kind of again just you're thinking like Albuquerque, New Mexico, but they had like film tax credits there and stuff, and they decided to build the studio, and it works well.
- 7:50Dayna Roselli: It's a remote area, and it gives that city a little boost.
- 7:54Dayna Roselli: So I don't know, I think there's a place for everything.
- 7:56Sean McAllister: Yeah, and uh you bring up the tax credits.
- 7:59Sean McAllister: I think um, you know, these plans are coming out and it's kind of putting the cart in front of the horse a little bit.
- 8:06Sean McAllister: There are these plans to build this movie studio, but um, there is still a lot of lobbying going on up in Carson City with our state legislature to try and get some uh new film tax incentives passed to really jumpstart the movie industry here.
- 8:26Sean McAllister: That hasn't happened yet.
- 8:27Sean McAllister: Um, it sounds like it's something that's gonna be taken up again in um this session.
- 8:33Dayna Roselli: I just keep thinking about like how so many different uh buildings, hotels, resorts, areas of Las Vegas have been, you know, the set for so many movies, and now we will actually have a movie studio here.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: Um, just as I look at our next topic about the Tropicana closing.
- 8:51Dayna Roselli: I mean, Viva Las Vegas was shot there, one of the James Bond films, part of I think one of the godfathers.
- 8:57Dayna Roselli: So it's interesting um that we would be a place, you know, where people would come to make movies and and maybe use some of those resorts as backdrops, but also then have a sound stage down the road to take the whole cast and shoot another part of the stuff.
- 9:11Sean McAllister: All the interior parts, right?
- 9:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so good stuff.
- 9:14Sean McAllister: It would be very convenient, yeah.
- 9:16Sean McAllister: But Dana, you do mention the trop closing April 2nd.
- 9:20Sean McAllister: The doors are gonna be shut, no more visitors will ever go inside.
- 9:25Sean McAllister: The Tropicana construction workers will be in there, yeah, kind of dismantling it from the inside out.
- 9:31Sean McAllister: Um, but it is a big chunk, almost 70 years, 67 years, I believe, that um Tropicana has been a part of the fabric of Las Vegas, and we're saying goodbye to a classic resort that's seen a ton of history.
- 9:47Dayna Roselli: Ton of history, but let's be honest, nobody really visits anymore.
- 9:51Dayna Roselli: That's the thing.
- 9:54Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, it's a tough one, but um no, it probably needs to close.
- 9:59Dayna Roselli: They're making way for a possible baseball stadium if that all works out.
- 10:03Dayna Roselli: Um, there aren't a lot of people in our life that go to the trap.
- 10:07Dayna Roselli: That's true, but great theater, and we've been there to see legends.
- 10:12Dayna Roselli: You hosted Golden Rainbow over there, yeah.
- 10:15Dayna Roselli: You know, years before that, I'm talking way back.
- 10:17Dayna Roselli: I used to go to the lounge there and watch Sky D.
- 10:19Dayna Roselli: Miles and all that.
- 10:20Dayna Roselli: I mean, so, but it's just it doesn't have, you know, it has like one restaurant, a Starbucks.
- 10:27Dayna Roselli: It just doesn't have much anymore.
- 10:29Sean McAllister: It opened the most luxurious resort you could go to in Las Vegas.
- 10:36Sean McAllister: And you know, over time the the glimmer has glimmered out.
- 10:41Dayna Roselli: Glimmered out.
- 10:42Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they need a fresh coat of paint, something.
- 10:44Dayna Roselli: Even that paint, I don't know how many times they've painted over it, but it's crackling on the outside now.
- 10:48Dayna Roselli: So I think it just needs to crack it.
- 10:51Sean McAllister: There's no point scraping, getting the paint scrapers up there.
- 10:54Dayna Roselli: It is very iconic, though.
- 10:55Dayna Roselli: And I know we're gonna go there on April 1st uh with some friends, and um, one of our friends who designed sets said, I'm gonna show you this one theater room where like Follies and like where there's some of the the rigging and stuff is still up there.
- 11:10Sean McAllister: The original theater.
- 11:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, the original theater.
- 11:12Dayna Roselli: So I look forward to seeing all that.
- 11:13Dayna Roselli: I was like, I didn't even know that was there, and so I mean, you know, it is it it does have so much history.
- 11:18Dayna Roselli: It was a big deal when it opened, and for many, many years to come, Follies was there for like 49 years.
- 11:24Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 11:25Dayna Roselli: So Follies Brazier, so and showgirls and all that stuff.
- 11:29Dayna Roselli: It's fun to look at the old pictures.
- 11:30Sean McAllister: It is, and I'm a big, big history person.
- 11:34Sean McAllister: I love the history of Las Vegas, so you know that I think that's where I have a sentimental attachment to TROP, seeing everything that's taken place there and the contributions really that the property has made to bringing Las Vegas to where it is today.
- 11:50Sean McAllister: Uh, by the way, speaking of Las Vegas history, um, there's a uh series on CNN, they've been coming out with this History of Las Vegas series, and it's really well done.
- 12:02Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah, I think I saw that.
- 12:04Sean McAllister: Great footage, the film footage that they found, I don't know where they got it from, but it's like crystal clear vintage footage that looks like it was just shot.
- 12:15Sean McAllister: It was it's really if you like looking at you know the Vegas past, it's definitely a series to check out.
- 12:23Sean McAllister: Sorry, that's a sidebar that just yeah, that's okay.
- 12:25Dayna Roselli: No, I remember promoting it on Twitter when I saw that they were doing it, and then I never actually went and watched it.
- 12:30Dayna Roselli: So I need to do that.
- 12:31Dayna Roselli: I know you've been saying it's really good.
- 12:32Sean McAllister: Really well done and some um interviews with some people you don't usually hear from.
- 12:38Dayna Roselli: Okay, I love that.
- 12:39Dayna Roselli: One little extra note on the drop.
- 12:40Dayna Roselli: Um, the Neon Museum is moving the sign there and they're gonna light it up um a couple days after it closes.
- 12:47Dayna Roselli: So we'll have that.
- 12:48Dayna Roselli: We don't know if the Tropicana will be imploded or broken down.
- 12:52Dayna Roselli: We don't know the answer to that yet.
- 12:54Dayna Roselli: We know it's coming down at some point, but um yeah, farewell to the Trop.
- 12:58Dayna Roselli: April 1st is the last night you can get there.
- 13:02Dayna Roselli: It closes April 2nd.
- 13:04Sean McAllister: Recently, Forbes held its annual luxury summit here in Las Vegas.
- 13:09Sean McAllister: This took place over at Resorts World.
- 13:11Sean McAllister: And we spoke with Amanda Frazier while she was here.
- 13:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, she's in charge of all the ratings, and we did learn from her that luxury is actually a bit different than it used to be.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: I think the word luxury can be very misunderstood because what it once was is not what it is now, and what people want out of their trips and what they want out of their experience has evolved and changed.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: I think we saw a the biggest evolution during and just after the pandemic.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: So now there's a bigger focus on your health and your well-being.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: To be well is a luxury, and to have a frictionless trip that is reducing your stress, not adding to your stress, is a luxury.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: So our standards that we write to evaluate the hotels for their star ratings reflect all of these changes as well.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: So maybe once upon a time, having a colour television in your room was a luxury.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: Maybe back in the 60s, even just having a television, but now we consider it access to high-quality water, fresh air, and outdoor space.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: So the standards evolve with people's tastes and the way luxury is changing.
- 14:14Sean McAllister: And I know that uh the term wellness tourism is something that's popped up over the last couple years.
- 14:21Sean McAllister: How popular do you see that being here in Las Vegas and in other popular destinations?
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: You know, wellness tourism, it's more than a trend, it's a culture shift.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: So, you know, in Las Vegas and many other destinations, we're seeing hotels really lean in to pushing well-being and the wellness of their guests beyond just this bus.
- 14:41Dayna Roselli: And I think when people talk Vegas, right, we think going out all night, you know, what happens here stays here, things like that.
- 14:47Dayna Roselli: Um, and wellness might not be top of mind, but we do have some really good choices here.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: You do, and you have traditional well-being and wellness, but also being well is your mental wellness as well.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: And if going out and being social and going to a club till 2, 3 a.m.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: or later is what makes you happy, then that's well-being as well.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: And it's really just about doing it in an environment where it's done well, it's done with great service, and everything's consistent.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: That's what we look for.
- 15:14Sean McAllister: So this is our permission slip to consider going out a wellness activity.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: It's all about balance, and we believe choice is a luxury as well.
- 15:23Sean McAllister: I like that, don't you?
- 15:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, it's interesting though.
- 15:26Dayna Roselli: Uh, she makes a good point, right?
- 15:27Dayna Roselli: Whatever makes you happy is considered wellness.
- 15:31Dayna Roselli: I like truth.
- 15:32Dayna Roselli: I'm tired of people always telling me I gotta be like namasta and you know, light candles and and sit down with my legs crossed and meditate.
- 15:41Dayna Roselli: I mean, maybe maybe that's not wellness for me at that moment.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: Maybe wellness is I have a very chill life and I want to get out and live it up for a little bit.
- 15:51Dayna Roselli: So I think that's what she's saying.
- 15:52Dayna Roselli: It depends on what you crave and what is good for you.
- 15:55Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 15:55Sean McAllister: It does.
- 15:56Sean McAllister: Whatever makes you happy, do it.
- 15:58Sean McAllister: That's great.
- 15:59Sean McAllister: We also spoke with Amanda um about a travel trend that we could see popping up here on the Las Vegas Strip, and also why Las Vegas is a luxury destination, unlike any other.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: There's so many great shows in town, great restaurants, but I think the proximity of everything being so close together is what is wonderful about this destination because you can choose to maybe make your base uh, I don't know, maybe the win, for example, but you can still go out and enjoy the fine dining that you might find at Guise of War, for example, over at Caesars.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Um I think the flexibility that Vegas offers its travelers in terms of their trip planning is one of the unique things about the destination.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: I will say that one of the newest trends that we're starting to see emerge is the need for frictionless travel and more all-inclusive options.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: So, whereas maybe we once thought the all-inclusive was a hotel in Mexico or the Caribbean, now we're seeing ultra-luxury brands concepting inclusive experiences.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Um, very similar to how you might go on a luxury cruise or a luxury yacht.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: And that's not just because they want to serve you, you know, the least expensive alcohol, just to make you think you're getting value, but really what that's speaking to in the luxury space is guests don't want to have to think.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: And we often have a phrase that we use at Forbes Travel Guide that the luxury stops when the guest has to think.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: And for us, seeing that trend and that push and demand for all inclusive is really speaking directly into that.
- 17:21Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was interesting talking with Amanda.
- 17:23Dayna Roselli: She also pointed out that uh the sphere is really bringing in a lot of people for extended business.
- 17:30Dayna Roselli: They're here for business, but then extending their stay to go look at the sphere, attend postcard from Earth.
- 17:37Dayna Roselli: You know, when U2 was here, obviously go to U2 shows.
- 17:40Dayna Roselli: We have more shows coming up with uh Fish and Dead and Company.
- 17:43Dayna Roselli: But yeah, so I mean, I think that was kind of uh cool to learn and something that we we thought about, you know, many times in the podcast that so many people are coming here for that.
- 17:52Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it turns out it's because it is an experience that you can only get in Las Vegas, and experiential things are just like all the rage right now.
- 18:04Dayna Roselli: Right, exactly.
- 18:05Dayna Roselli: Now, overall, there are nearly 50 star-rated hotels, spas, and restaurants here in Las Vegas, and you can check out Forbstravelguide.com to see the complete list if you're interested.
- 18:16Sean McAllister: And throughout our conversation with Amanda, one of the other things that she pointed out is the importance of having your luxury experience start at the airport, which I thought was really interesting.
- 18:29Dayna Roselli: Definitely.
- 18:30Dayna Roselli: And she was saying, you know, we could probably do with some upgrades.
- 18:33Dayna Roselli: And we thought, oh, yeah, I mean, I guess we could, right?
- 18:37Dayna Roselli: But she was saying also making more space.
- 18:39Dayna Roselli: And she was pointing out that, like, you know, during Super Bowl, we had all these private jets in and there wasn't enough room and this and that.
- 18:44Dayna Roselli: And I was like, okay.
- 18:45Dayna Roselli: But she said that we could accommodate a little bit better, could probably update.
- 18:49Dayna Roselli: So we talked to the airport.
- 18:51Dayna Roselli: Um, we actually had a little bit of an interaction with a friend that works there, and she was telling us that no, the airport does plan to expand by adding another one to the south of Las Vegas.
- 19:01Dayna Roselli: So there'll be a second commercial airport in the Ivanpaw Valley.
- 19:05Dayna Roselli: That is in the works, and that expands, you know, outside of the current footprint that we have, but there are also plans apparently to maximize what they have now as well.
- 19:16Sean McAllister: So it's good to hear that these plans are in the works.
- 19:21Sean McAllister: We're our officials who are in charge of all that stuff are already thinking in this direction.
- 19:26Sean McAllister: So um I like that Las Vegas will be keeping up with the demand of the world.
- 19:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, because I was um getting on a plane recently, and this lady was doing a transfer, and she was like, this airport could use an upgrade.
- 19:40Dayna Roselli: And I was like, I guess I never really thought about it.
- 19:42Dayna Roselli: Maybe, maybe she's right.
- 19:45Sean McAllister: I never think about it.
- 19:46Sean McAllister: I just I go right to the slot machines.
- 19:48Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 19:49Dayna Roselli: We do have slot machines.
- 19:50Dayna Roselli: That's something that other people don't have.
- 19:53Sean McAllister: By the way, Vegas Revealed is presented by level up law, and you don't have to live in the state of Nevada in order to get help from Level Up either.
- 20:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so if you're listening and you don't live in the Las Vegas area, that's okay.
- 20:07Dayna Roselli: But whether it's property damage, wind resulting in down trees, wildfires, water damage, their experienced team will help you.
- 20:15Sean McAllister: All you have to do is give Level Up Law a call now.
- 20:19Sean McAllister: 855 Level Up is their phone number.
- 20:22Sean McAllister: Again, that's 855 Level Up.
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: In our last episode, you heard us talk to comedian and actress Lunel.
- 20:31Dayna Roselli: We got a great response from that by the way.
- 20:32Sean McAllister: We did.
- 20:33Sean McAllister: I still uh I have been watching her live, her Instagram lives, like really religiously, and she is so, so good.
- 20:42Dayna Roselli: It's so funny, right?
- 20:44Dayna Roselli: Well, while we were at Jimmy Kimmel's Comedy Club, we ran into Michael Yo, and he is a longtime host and comedian, has all sorts of things that he does.
- 20:52Dayna Roselli: But we ran into him there because he actually uh came out to support Lunel because he started his show at Jimmy Kimmel's Comedy Club once a week on Wednesday nights, and he's really excited.
- 21:03Dayna Roselli: He's been living in Las Vegas for about three years now.
- 21:06Sean McAllister: Yeah, so we pulled him aside to hear why he decided to move to Las Vegas in the first place.
- 21:13Sean McAllister: We talked about the comedy scene and what he really loves about the city.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: Like I would die for my son, I would kill for my daughter.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: But here's what's crazy I wouldn't kill for my wife.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: Because that's not my job.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: That's her father's job.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: I finally have a home, finally have a residency, and I only have to work one night.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: That is beautiful when you have a family.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: My kids were like, who would you know?
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: Because I was I was working every night and my kids are like, I'm gonna do stay home and that really hit me.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh my nigga stay home.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: Uh uh.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: This club has been grenade, Jimmy Kimballs has been grenade.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: It's just an honor to be here.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: I love niggas.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, I moved here three years ago.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: It's a game changer.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: That's the place I've ever lived in my life.
- 21:56Dayna Roselli: Well, that was what I was gonna ask you because we love talking to people that moved here and And it always seems like it's really like a big life-changing moment for them.
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: True for you?
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: It is, because I've never lived in a place with so much community.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: And I know that may sound weird or like I'm pitching it, but no, there's there's this feeling of community.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: Wherever you go, you really feel that people care.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: I've lived in LA where everybody's trying to go after their goals.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: So it really, there's no community.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: Really, you know what I mean?
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: I've lived in Miami.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: Throwing down the 4 a.m.
- 22:27SPEAKER_02: That was that community.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: It was a party community.
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: That's what we had.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: But as far as a family, with me and my kids and wife, oh, my wife went to UNLV.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: Her family lives here, so we have free babysitters.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: I mean, you can't beat that.
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: You can't beat that.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: That's why we're here for the free babysitters, let's be honest.
- 22:42Dayna Roselli: I was gonna say, let's be honest, right?
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: Let's be honest.
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: If they weren't here, we wouldn't be no no, but we love it here.
- 22:48Dayna Roselli: What about the comedy community here?
- 22:50Dayna Roselli: As far as, you know, how does it differ from LA?
- 22:52Dayna Roselli: I mean.
- 22:53SPEAKER_02: Well, it differs in when bigger comics, my friends, come to town, they're performing in front of thousands of people.
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: You know, so you see them on a different level.
- 23:02Dayna Roselli: There are bigger comics than you?
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: There are.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: Believe it or not, the guy that started me is pretty big.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: His name is Joe Coy.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: He gave me my first from me, it's Joe Coy.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: Uh, but no, it's great to see them in the element with a big crowd, and then for comics that live here, uh we do well on the road, but here we kind of work out.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: This is our gym.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: You know, the only way to get better is trying out stuff.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: So this is my gym.
- 23:25SPEAKER_02: Every every week on Wednesday at 7:30, I'm here.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: So trying out this stuff.
- 23:29Dayna Roselli: Well, just say, what is the ultimate goal?
- 23:30Dayna Roselli: Just keep growing, touring?
- 23:31Dayna Roselli: What do you wanna?
- 23:32Dayna Roselli: What's your my what's your end-all?
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: My end-all is to watch my kids grow.
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: My level of success I've hit is when I can say no to things I would have said yes because I needed the opportunity.
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: So, I mean, you guys with the show, you control what you do, and that's where you wanna be.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: You wanna own everything, and you wanna be able to say no because you don't need it.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: You know?
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: And say yes to the things you only want to do.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: And that, forget about money.
- 23:59SPEAKER_02: That is true success.
- 24:01Dayna Roselli: So true.
- 24:02SPEAKER_02: Preach, Mike, preach!
- 24:04Dayna Roselli: Preach! One last thing.
- 24:06Dayna Roselli: If we come see you, for people that are watching, maybe visitors, locals, and if they don't know what type of comedy they're gonna get when they come see you, what can we get?
- 24:13SPEAKER_02: It's called hot mess comedy, because it's a mess.
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: You never know what you're gonna get.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: Uh, it's a lot of fun.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: We kicked it off a couple weeks ago, and it's been incredible.
- 24:22Dayna Roselli: What a great guy.
- 24:24Dayna Roselli: Loved chatting with him, and you can learn more about Michael at michaelyo.com.
- 24:29Dayna Roselli: His shows are Wednesdays at 7.30 over at Jimmy Kimmel's Comedy Club at the Link Promenade.
- 24:35Sean McAllister: All right, let's do tits.
- 24:39Sean McAllister: You know, this is like the best time of year to be in Las Vegas right now and in fall, because you can be outside, enjoy the incredible weather.
- 24:48Sean McAllister: Um, but what I always love are finding new places to eat outdoors.
- 24:54Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 24:54Dayna Roselli: You know, you it's surprising that Vegas doesn't have more outdoor spots.
- 25:00Sean McAllister: I feel like everybody should.
- 25:01Sean McAllister: You go to places like San Diego, and every single restaurant has an outdoor space.
- 25:07Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 25:07Dayna Roselli: So we do have a lot of amazing restaurants, but most of them are indoors without a patio option, but we're getting more patios.
- 25:16Dayna Roselli: But anyway, regardless, one of our tips is the Bellagio Outdoor Cafe, and they have worked to enhance it their collection, you know, add more luxury, make some new things over there.
- 25:29Dayna Roselli: And so I love this.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: They have a new Como poolside cafe and bar.
- 25:34Dayna Roselli: The best part, Sean, and this is why it's a tip, okay, is that it's available to hotel guests and non-guests.
- 25:42Sean McAllister: See, I like that.
- 25:43Sean McAllister: Me too.
- 25:43Sean McAllister: And that Bellagio pool is absolutely stunning.
- 25:49Dayna Roselli: It is, and that's the thing.
- 25:50Dayna Roselli: I think people like the feel of sitting by the pool.
- 25:55Dayna Roselli: I love the terrace cafe at the wind.
- 25:57Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 25:57Dayna Roselli: You sit out there on the patio and the pool's right there, and there's just you just feel automatic vacation in there, right?
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: You do.
- 26:04Dayna Roselli: And so I think this is a great idea for the Bellagio to now have this pool side cafe that everyone can go to, and it looks gorgeous.
- 26:14Dayna Roselli: It has a full menu of breakfast and lunch items served daily from 9 to 3 p.m.
- 26:19Dayna Roselli: A small bites menu is available 3 to 6 p.m.
- 26:23Sean McAllister: And this is my favorite part is their Epertivo hour.
- 26:26Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: They I you always love that.
- 26:29Sean McAllister: I do.
- 26:30Dayna Roselli: It starts at 5 p.m.
- 26:32Dayna Roselli: Uh every day throughout the pool season.
- 26:34Dayna Roselli: So keep that in mind.
- 26:36Dayna Roselli: You can go there, you can get, you know, whatever cocktails, mocktails, or s all sorts of stuff.
- 26:41Dayna Roselli: Um, they've got, you know, a menu.
- 26:43Dayna Roselli: They even have cocktail pitchers and beer, so you can get like a cocktail pitcher.
- 26:47Sean McAllister: I mean, that's a great thing.
- 26:49Sean McAllister: I am all about going and hanging out by the pool, indulging in apertivo hour, having some light bikes.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: I think we might need we need to go there, I think.
- 27:01Dayna Roselli: I think we just convinced ourselves to go there.
- 27:04Dayna Roselli: We just convinced ourselves we did.
- 27:07Dayna Roselli: Um, listen, because the weather is great, the spring weather, there's all sorts of little things about this place.
- 27:12Dayna Roselli: Uh Thursdays through Saturdays from April 4th through Memorial Day weekend, apparently the Como area, the atmosphere there is going to come alive with live entertainment on top of all that.
- 27:24Sean McAllister: Even better.
- 27:25Sean McAllister: So you go get your your great drink and food with a great poolside atmosphere and live music.
- 27:34Dayna Roselli: I mean, this is a good tip.
- 27:35Sean McAllister: It isn't it?
- 27:36Sean McAllister: There's so much going on over here.
- 27:38Dayna Roselli: And guess what?
- 27:40Sean McAllister: What?
- 27:40Dayna Roselli: You can walk in.
- 27:42Sean McAllister: Great.
- 27:44Dayna Roselli: But you can also make a reservation by visiting the Bellagio online, or you can call them at 702-693-8865.
- 27:52Sean McAllister: That is a tip.
- 27:54Sean McAllister: I know.
- 27:56Dayna Roselli: There was so much information in this latest release and pictures.
- 27:59Dayna Roselli: I was so taken by it.
- 28:00Dayna Roselli: I was like, we have to let everyone know about this.
- 28:02Dayna Roselli: But no, I think, like we say, sometimes if you're not staying at the hotel, you want to go take advantage of some of the things inside a hotel, but you're not staying there, you should be able to because it's only gonna make that resort more money.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 28:17Dayna Roselli: There shouldn't, uh but I get it.
- 28:18Dayna Roselli: You want if you're spending money to stay there, they want to make sure that their guests are treated right and they are the top priority.
- 28:24Dayna Roselli: But I think something like this, if you've got enough space, you've got a beautiful area, it might tempt someone to say, guess what?
- 28:32Dayna Roselli: Next time we're staying here.
- 28:34Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 28:34Sean McAllister: Right.
- 28:35Sean McAllister: And uh, we did want to let you know this because let's say you're bopping over to Bellagio to check out the conservatory.
- 28:42Sean McAllister: Like this isn't going to be.
- 28:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay, go ahead.
- 28:47Sean McAllister: But uh Como isn't going to be on your path from the front door to the conservatory, so you have to know about it to take advantage of it.
- 28:57Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you do, you do.
- 28:59Dayna Roselli: And we just helped you know about it.
- 29:01Sean McAllister: We did.
- 29:03Dayna Roselli: So that's a podcast.
- 29:04Dayna Roselli: You know why?
- 29:04Dayna Roselli: My phone's blowing up.
- 29:05Dayna Roselli: Texts are going off and it's making me edgy.
- 29:08Dayna Roselli: You know how I've talked about this before.
- 29:09Dayna Roselli: I don't like it.
- 29:10Dayna Roselli: I don't like when I see flashes of a number of texts coming in in a row because I feel like something important's happening.
- 29:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, we need to check on all those alerts that are blasting off over there.
- 29:20Sean McAllister: That's it for this week's Vegas Revealed.
- 29:22Sean McAllister: We do want to say a big thank you to our presenting sponsor, Level Up Law.
- 29:27Sean McAllister: Also, uh another sponsor, the Vegas Near Me app.
- 29:30Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 29:31Dayna Roselli: And Level Up Law is coming online with a new website, so check them out if you want more information.
- 29:36Dayna Roselli: It is leveluplaw.com.
- 29:40Dayna Roselli: Vegas Near Me is an app that you can download in the Google Play Store or in the iPhone app store as well.
- 29:48Sean McAllister: We will be back with more next week.
