- 0:04My mom looked up and saw them on the roof and
- 0:14said, get down from there. They didn't move,
- 0:20so she said it more sternly. Get off of that
- 0:24roof and come down here. They came quickly then.
- 0:30They admitted to the police that they stole it
- 0:33from a school and I think they returned the items
- 0:35to him. And the police went on the way. They
- 0:40were real lucky that they did not go to juvenile
- 0:43detention. As my brothers became older, they
- 0:48began doing worse crimes. My younger brother
- 0:51was caught driving with an expired 30 -day tag.
- 0:54Not only that, he changed the date and it was
- 0:57pretty obvious. He went to court and they let
- 1:00him go with a suspended license for 30 days,
- 1:04I believe. That incident straightened him up
- 1:07quick. On the other hand, my oldest brother was
- 1:11writing bad checks to dominoes almost every Friday.
- 1:19He would invite his friends over and order pizza
- 1:21or two from Domino's and force his name on someone's
- 1:25checks he had stolen. The checks were in a woman's
- 1:29name and I don't know how he got away with it
- 1:31so long. Wow. I believe the checks were for such
- 1:39a small amount that the person did not notice
- 1:41the money was gone from her account for a while.
- 1:44But when he was caught, boy what he called. The
- 1:49police showed up at the house on a cold winter's
- 1:51night. the police print out to our mother and
- 1:59he admitted doing it and he had to go to court
- 2:03and he had a court date to go to. My oldest brother
- 2:07stole cars from my other lot. One day he came
- 2:15home with this mini jeep. It was so nice and
- 2:20we asked him where he got it from. He said it
- 2:23was our cousin's car and he had let him borrow
- 2:25it. The same day he brought this rare Z28 home
- 2:30and told us the same story. where my younger
- 2:33sister and I went for a ride with him, just cruising,
- 2:39until a couple days later the police showed up
- 2:41and arrested him. I believe he was back home
- 2:43the same day. He never got serious punishment
- 2:46from the police or from my mom. That is why he
- 2:50kept committing crimes. Even when he lived in
- 2:53Mississippi with my older sister as a grown man,
- 2:56he got into some trouble down there and rushed
- 2:58back home. We never knew what kind of trouble
- 3:01it was, but it had something to do with the car.
- 3:05He kept going back and forth from Ohio to Mississippi.
- 3:09As far as I know, today he is making an honest
- 3:11living. I guess he figured whatever crimes he
- 3:14was going to do, that he was going to get caught
- 3:17eventually. Back in the day when he was a criminal,
- 3:22he saw crime paid, and it did for a short while.
- 3:27His bad check writing paper, his hunker, and
- 3:30those cards, for his lack of transportation,
- 3:41for a little while. It took a long time for him
- 3:43to see that. Crime don't pay.
