- 0:01Speaker 1: Hold up, hold up, and it's not produced by me
- 0:06Speaker 1: O C. T. And I'm with the homies and I
- 0:09Speaker 1: am your favorite is so low. We sounded just like it.
- 0:15Speaker 1: We sounded just like it. He sounded just like it.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I can say that. Okay, I will judge how you guys.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Um week has gone by. It's like the days are
- 0:29Speaker 1: mixed together. I don't even know. Wait, do you have
- 0:31Speaker 1: a new hairstyle? Yeah, you know what I'm saying. The
- 0:35Speaker 1: quarantine braids had to come up. Shout out. I'm tired
- 0:37Speaker 1: of doing my hair. I am right behind you because
- 0:43Speaker 1: these little dusty corn rolls right here they had a goal.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I got a haircut. I actually got my first haircut
- 0:50Speaker 1: a couple of days ago, trimmed up. It was cool,
- 0:53Speaker 1: just a little line up, you know. Um my hair
- 0:56Speaker 1: was growing crazy, crazy crazy. And he didn't have a
- 1:01Speaker 1: barber shop. No, my barber comes to me. I didn't
- 1:05Speaker 1: even say it like that. Wait wait, yes he came
- 1:07Speaker 1: with a mask. Meanwhile, my my nail technician is like, no, bitch, no,
- 1:13Speaker 1: you either coming to us or not. Hey, yo, we
- 1:18Speaker 1: got a special guest joining us today. Who we got today?
- 1:20Speaker 1: Rory ms Shamiya Morton. Um I first met her. She
- 1:24Speaker 1: was a She was one of the main people at
- 1:27Speaker 1: the Atlanta Hawks. She was not just a cheerleader, but
- 1:30Speaker 1: she was doing a lot of hosting on the ground,
- 1:33Speaker 1: on the court side, and she was doing a lot
- 1:34Speaker 1: of stuff like that. Then all of a sudden I
- 1:36Speaker 1: saw her. I heard her doing radio at V one
- 1:39Speaker 1: O three. Then all of a sudden, I heard her
- 1:41Speaker 1: doing the Warning show at Streets Now four or five.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I actually did a couple of morning shows with her,
- 1:45Speaker 1: so we're gonna be talking to her. Then I see
- 1:46Speaker 1: her on TV on Atlanta Housewives, and um, she has
- 1:51Speaker 1: had a got a baby, she's married, she got a
- 1:54Speaker 1: lot going on. So we're gonna have her come in
- 1:55Speaker 1: and uh co host with us today. I love it.
- 1:58Speaker 1: You're listening to The Lord Show. Shama Morton is joining
- 2:04Speaker 1: us right now, the Ball and lest Show. How's it going, man, Man,
- 2:08Speaker 1: it's going, it's going. I'm just happy to be COVID
- 2:11Speaker 1: free in twenties one. So I'm gonna list a couple
- 2:14Speaker 1: of things that I've witnessed you do. I first saw
- 2:17Speaker 1: you cheerleading on the Atlanta Hawks, but you weren't just
- 2:20Speaker 1: a cheerleader. You were on the sidelines doing reporting. Yeah,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I actually landed into that after the fact, you know,
- 2:28Speaker 1: being at the right place at the right time deal.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I started out here, and um, actually weird. People don't realize.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I started with the Hawks back in two thousands three.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I'm not trying to age myself, but back in two
- 2:38Speaker 1: thousands there was my rookie season cheer for them. I
- 2:41Speaker 1: left them and went to the Falcons, where I did
- 2:44Speaker 1: like five six seasons. Then I was like, I want
- 2:47Speaker 1: to do some broadcast stuff, you know, I wanna because
- 2:50Speaker 1: I had studied at Morris Brown broadcast durnalism. So I
- 2:52Speaker 1: was like, I'm gonna do like in game stuff. I
- 2:54Speaker 1: like football, like people, you know. So I've been doing
- 2:59Speaker 1: some radio stuff for d B with Ryan and Ryan
- 3:02Speaker 1: was the plug. One day the current the existing host
- 3:07Speaker 1: didn't show up. She was, I guess called in l
- 3:09Speaker 1: A and he was like you ready. I was like already,
- 3:15Speaker 1: and they gave me the script and I killed that
- 3:17Speaker 1: ship and they were like, okay, you don't let you
- 3:18Speaker 1: be the feeling. Then when she's not available, you can
- 3:20Speaker 1: just jump in and do it. And from there, you know,
- 3:22Speaker 1: just it happened. So, I mean, it's crazy to think
- 3:25Speaker 1: back now because people text me and the d M
- 3:26Speaker 1: and me and like, hey, do what you do? How
- 3:28Speaker 1: do I do it? I'm like, yeah, y'all know, there's
- 3:34Speaker 1: no I guess right right. I'm like started out hosting
- 3:40Speaker 1: little stuff and around the city and then you know,
- 3:43Speaker 1: all right, so wait, wait wait, I wasn't done. Wait
- 3:45Speaker 1: here we go. So then I'm driving, I'm going. I
- 3:48Speaker 1: forget where I was going. It was like, no, I
- 3:50Speaker 1: was going to the club. I ain't ana lie and
- 3:51Speaker 1: I hear you won't be one all through I said, damn,
- 3:53Speaker 1: this girl's on the radio. I was at I was
- 3:55Speaker 1: at the Halls game. I saw her on the big screen. Yeah,
- 3:58Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, I leave you went through.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I go the streets now for five I had to
- 4:02Speaker 1: fill in on the morning show. And look at you
- 4:04Speaker 1: coming in with you a little bit belly old and
- 4:10Speaker 1: you're doing the morning show. Yeah. And then all of
- 4:13Speaker 1: a sudden, I think within the same week I saw
- 4:15Speaker 1: you on TV. Look at that modest last. You know,
- 4:24Speaker 1: when you get so many companiments you don't really know
- 4:25Speaker 1: how to take it. Just last, a baby married, that's
- 4:34Speaker 1: a lot. That's a lot, Like I mean, you know
- 4:37Speaker 1: what she's actually one of the few women on the
- 4:41Speaker 1: Atlanta Housewives that is married because she's looking. Man, let
- 4:48Speaker 1: me tell you my cup running over. I'm just like
- 4:51Speaker 1: you know, everybody always says like there's light at end
- 4:53Speaker 1: of the tune, Like for everything great that's happening in
- 4:55Speaker 1: my life, there's a batch that's happened in my past.
- 4:58Speaker 1: And that's why I tell people to be encouraged, you
- 5:00Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like, just because you don't see
- 5:03Speaker 1: it or you don't feel it, God is working through
- 5:05Speaker 1: you and always for you. So if it's something out
- 5:08Speaker 1: there for you, if you are want to do great things,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you dest and Forgret, we are all destined for greatness.
- 5:12Speaker 1: We just gotta figure out what we want to do
- 5:14Speaker 1: and walk in that light. So for me, I always like,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I've always been real big on people and just you know,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I'm a socialite, so I feel like they all work
- 5:24Speaker 1: hand in hand, radio, TV, music, UM hosting, it's all
- 5:30Speaker 1: like married to each other. When he was in a
- 5:33Speaker 1: sense because when you like people, you just like people.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Don't it don't really matter, don't feel like work, You're
- 5:38Speaker 1: just out and about just hanging out. So yeah, you know,
- 5:40Speaker 1: I it was kind of sting you though, Rory, I
- 5:42Speaker 1: feel like I left b and then it was like
- 5:44Speaker 1: you're going over there, come over that. Where are your
- 5:51Speaker 1: originally from? Sham? I'm from here in Atlanta? Okay? Um,
- 5:57Speaker 1: so right now I'm in Sandy Springs. But you know
- 6:00Speaker 1: I'm a Dicata baby born at Emory Crawford Long in
- 6:04Speaker 1: this city. We have joked my sister that my sisters
- 6:06Speaker 1: want to great to me, be like mama to may
- 6:08Speaker 1: handle money when you was born. But they had a
- 6:09Speaker 1: little okay, and I graduated from Grettie High School. Okay,
- 6:16Speaker 1: dog get one, diafle north side. Then you get a
- 6:20Speaker 1: bunch of grated baby. They said about the about five
- 6:22Speaker 1: or six times before we refilled that car. No, you know,
- 6:28Speaker 1: I'm from Atlanta, the Cator Southwestern cab High School. How
- 6:33Speaker 1: did you get into the Hawks? Um? How did you
- 6:36Speaker 1: get into the arena? Did you always want to be
- 6:38Speaker 1: a part of it or Yeah? I got into hosting
- 6:42Speaker 1: the Hawks by way of dancing and cheering, but that's
- 6:46Speaker 1: how people knew me. But I got the hosting gig
- 6:50Speaker 1: from Ryan Cameron Ryan Plugmy Ryan Plugmy's radio. Ryan is
- 6:55Speaker 1: my mentor. When it comes down to like radio and
- 6:58Speaker 1: hosting this kind of stuff. So he really just took
- 7:00Speaker 1: me on this wing and he was like, you can
- 7:02Speaker 1: do it. You know, you can. Even look at this
- 7:03Speaker 1: day he'll be like, now you sounded stupid when you said, dude,
- 7:06Speaker 1: you gotta up. You gotta not be like okay, okay,
- 7:10Speaker 1: but yeah, with shout out to Ryan too, he's recovering
- 7:15Speaker 1: still rightly. I used to actually for this his show,
- 7:19Speaker 1: um for like three years before. Yeah, who hasn't you
- 7:27Speaker 1: worked with Yeah, well, you know, since you mentioned cheerleading,
- 7:32Speaker 1: I do want to know maybe some locker room tails. Girl,
- 7:36Speaker 1: tell me, did you ever date any of the players
- 7:39Speaker 1: while you were cheerleading? You know I didn't. I've never
- 7:42Speaker 1: been really into athletes. I'm like the white collar guy,
- 7:46Speaker 1: Like I want the accountant that you know you hired,
- 7:51Speaker 1: I want your rep, your lawyer, you're that guy, you know,
- 7:56Speaker 1: the athlete. I'm a hook thing up with my home girl,
- 8:00Speaker 1: like your whole girls were all over it to like
- 8:02Speaker 1: girl was going to the club. Sure, And I'm I'm
- 8:06Speaker 1: always like the friend of all the athletes, you know,
- 8:08Speaker 1: like the sister like less party and brain dam girls
- 8:11Speaker 1: and brain Branthon Jillian to the pool party and bring
- 8:15Speaker 1: you know that was that was kind of my role.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I want your age girl, That's that sounds familiar. You're
- 8:20Speaker 1: the one that they won't try, they won't disrespect, but
- 8:22Speaker 1: they will try and disrespect your girlfriends. I feel you said, yeah,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I just got to play the whole. I didn't know
- 8:31Speaker 1: he was with that girl. No, why you let him
- 8:34Speaker 1: do that to you? I told you you wasn't. I
- 8:38Speaker 1: do have a serious question. You know that for African
- 8:43Speaker 1: American women it's kind of hard to basically accomplish damn
- 8:47Speaker 1: there anything? Did you? Did you find any type of
- 8:51Speaker 1: hardships when you were cheering to announcing because of your
- 8:55Speaker 1: ethnicity at all? Or was everything you in my career period,
- 9:02Speaker 1: they're always like setbacks, but you use those to move
- 9:07Speaker 1: forward if you can figure out a way to use
- 9:09Speaker 1: it to your advantage and if it works for you.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Like for me, I was a token black girl and
- 9:12Speaker 1: I ran with that ship. I was the chocolate girl
- 9:15Speaker 1: because like back in the day, back in two thousand three,
- 9:18Speaker 1: like when when I first started dancing and cheering, that
- 9:20Speaker 1: was no actually started actually did my first role in
- 9:23Speaker 1: drum Line. It was a movie where uh I danced
- 9:26Speaker 1: alongside when we saw Donna. Yeah right, it was for me.
- 9:30Speaker 1: You know, I gotta go back. I gotta go back
- 9:32Speaker 1: and watch that. Yeah, you gotta watch it. So for
- 9:35Speaker 1: me like exact. And I mean, I hate to sound
- 9:37Speaker 1: like this, but Hollywood is changing to where chocolate and
- 9:42Speaker 1: black is now beginning to be beautiful. It's always been beautiful,
- 9:46Speaker 1: but in their eyes, they're starting to see it. So
- 9:48Speaker 1: back in the day, it was the same way on
- 9:51Speaker 1: the sidelines, like I candy wasn't technically like like you
- 9:54Speaker 1: had to be mixed or you know, or you have
- 9:56Speaker 1: to be exotic or you know. And I'm like, hey,
- 9:59Speaker 1: I'm chocolate. I'm zotic as hell, Like this is what
- 10:01Speaker 1: you're gonna get. And it was so crazy because I
- 10:03Speaker 1: remember one time I went to a school in Atlanta,
- 10:07Speaker 1: elementary school and this little girl came on to me.
- 10:10Speaker 1: She was like, you're chilly. Don't know that I am.
- 10:11Speaker 1: She was like, how did you get on the team?
- 10:15Speaker 1: She was like because you're so black, And like, I know, girl,
- 10:18Speaker 1: and I'm working home black girl magic. I was because
- 10:21Speaker 1: you don't She's like, no, I'm too dark skin. And
- 10:23Speaker 1: it broke my heart because I'm like, wow, why would
- 10:26Speaker 1: you say that? You know, like me growing up and
- 10:29Speaker 1: we um. I have two older sisters. My older sisters
- 10:32Speaker 1: like light light light, like you, I take it, and
- 10:35Speaker 1: then my middle sister is like you, Sue, and then
- 10:38Speaker 1: on the chocolate one. So we're like three shades, you
- 10:41Speaker 1: know what I mean. But we loved it, and my
- 10:44Speaker 1: parents would be like, where's my little chocolate drop? Where
- 10:47Speaker 1: is my chocolate Barbie? And I feel like it starts
- 10:49Speaker 1: at home, like it can. We can use this and
- 10:53Speaker 1: I'm going in to to push us forward, like sure,
- 10:57Speaker 1: I will say as a woman, though there have been
- 10:59Speaker 1: some hiccups, I'm a singer. I started out entertainment period.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I only started dancing because I was singing and I
- 11:07Speaker 1: was singing in different groups and and with someone you
- 11:11Speaker 1: probably know some of the people have had their big moments, um,
- 11:14Speaker 1: but for me, it was like, you know, just I
- 11:19Speaker 1: don't want to have sex with you. I want to
- 11:21Speaker 1: do music with you. I want to create and make
- 11:24Speaker 1: money with you. And that's why I good representation is
- 11:29Speaker 1: always good in this industry because you don't have to
- 11:33Speaker 1: be the one speaking like you can just go in
- 11:35Speaker 1: there and be the artists. And that is the hardest
- 11:38Speaker 1: thing I feel for me being taken serious as an
- 11:41Speaker 1: artist and as an entertainer and not as like, um,
- 11:46Speaker 1: can I smash. I think that's a struggle for women
- 11:49Speaker 1: period and entertainment, because I've come across that a lot.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Don't stop almost it's worse like you're married, but you
- 12:00Speaker 1: had some friends like our secret can we you know,
- 12:04Speaker 1: and it's like, well, I kind of just want to
- 12:06Speaker 1: just do this and not smash you. Definitely, like I
- 12:10Speaker 1: Tavia said, it happens all the time in every way.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I worked in nightlife for a little over ten years,
- 12:16Speaker 1: and I think the first position I had, I was
- 12:19Speaker 1: the email girl. Okay, I was young. I'm the email girl,
- 12:23Speaker 1: and I'm just like, oh my god, like I'm out
- 12:25Speaker 1: here looking crazy? Why are all these been talking to me?
- 12:28Speaker 1: Then it's like as the cashier, it didn't matter what
- 12:31Speaker 1: you did, It didn't matter what you look like, what
- 12:32Speaker 1: you had on. If you were walking and you had
- 12:34Speaker 1: a vagina and they wanted some, they were going for it.
- 12:38Speaker 1: It's so disgusting, and it is so sad because you know,
- 12:43Speaker 1: men don't I mean not ting. I'm sure I'll have
- 12:45Speaker 1: y'all things guys. Hey, hey, sorry, is amazing. He right
- 12:52Speaker 1: to be honest with you. They had been a lot
- 12:57Speaker 1: of guys in the industry that would tell me, like,
- 12:59Speaker 1: y'all to I want to work with you. Whether it
- 13:01Speaker 1: was you know, jumping on my brunch or coming up
- 13:04Speaker 1: with a new event to do, or whatever the case was,
- 13:06Speaker 1: there was always this underlying thing of them wanting to
- 13:10Speaker 1: have sex. And come when when Rory took me under
- 13:14Speaker 1: his wing, you wouldn't believe our I never told you this,
- 13:16Speaker 1: but a couple of women hit me and were like, hey,
- 13:18Speaker 1: you have no idea that you are working with a
- 13:21Speaker 1: gem ra is the only man that ever made me
- 13:23Speaker 1: feel comfortable. Um, he's never tried me. And I was like,
- 13:27Speaker 1: I think it has a lot to do me being
- 13:29Speaker 1: deeply in love with my wife. Yes, probably the love
- 13:35Speaker 1: for your daughters too. Yes, running across no crazy man.
- 13:39Speaker 1: But wait, listen, ladies, listen, listen. We're talking about vaginas.
- 13:42Speaker 1: That's cool. Let's talk about the vaginas on TV that
- 13:46Speaker 1: is uh in acquaintances with now you are wait, wait
- 13:50Speaker 1: before you go to that world. I just want to
- 13:52Speaker 1: mention Shamia on the spirit you know of your the
- 13:56Speaker 1: spirit of a black woman, like a darker you know,
- 13:59Speaker 1: the sun kissed beautiful black woman, you know, because a
- 14:03Speaker 1: lot of people don't have that attitude, you know, And um,
- 14:06Speaker 1: I just I come across so many people with either
- 14:09Speaker 1: negative attitudes, even light skinned women with you know, attitude
- 14:13Speaker 1: problems like black comes in all different shades, and I
- 14:17Speaker 1: just have to embrace each other. So I just want
- 14:20Speaker 1: to we are all beautiful in our own right, you
- 14:22Speaker 1: know what I mean. And that's that's that's it's sad
- 14:24Speaker 1: that we just always have to remind each other. And
- 14:26Speaker 1: you know, that's why it's a crazy because people are like,
- 14:29Speaker 1: you know, oh you read my comment on Instagram, But
- 14:31Speaker 1: it makes me feel good. You can say it million
- 14:34Speaker 1: times a day. But sometimes people just don't feel pretty.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Sometimes people don't feel uh just value, you know what
- 14:42Speaker 1: I mean. So for me, when I go on another
- 14:44Speaker 1: person's page, I might, I mean I sometimes I even
- 14:48Speaker 1: go to the extreme and I might even set a
- 14:50Speaker 1: little like a lesbian because I literally give it to you.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna be like food, you look gorgeous, boobs parkeys,
- 14:56Speaker 1: but but all the confidence, give all talking, you are
- 15:02Speaker 1: you winning, You're working you guys, And why shouldn't I
- 15:06Speaker 1: be a the component? Why can't love like why can't
- 15:09Speaker 1: we do that for each other? Why we always gotta
- 15:12Speaker 1: try to pull off the negative ship. You know, my
- 15:14Speaker 1: hair getting great. I know my hair just be messed
- 15:17Speaker 1: up sometimes. But why don't you just say d yeah,
- 15:22Speaker 1: but your waistlines that you know what that that's that
- 15:26Speaker 1: PTSD in our community. Okay, a lot of us are
- 15:29Speaker 1: dealing with it and don't even know it. All right, ladies,
- 15:31Speaker 1: stop running from a damn question. Okay, let me get back.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Okay, let me segue back into it. Okay,
- 15:40Speaker 1: house Wives of Atlanta. Now keep in mind that's not
- 15:43Speaker 1: necessarily my cup of tea. I'd rather watch sports, but
- 15:46Speaker 1: I do need to know what's going on out here
- 15:48Speaker 1: in the streets. Okay, when wife's downstairs watching that, I
- 15:51Speaker 1: tend to get you a little bit of it. That's
- 15:55Speaker 1: all kind of like a little date thing that we
- 15:56Speaker 1: could do. Oh yeah, and I noticed that Shama Morton
- 15:59Speaker 1: is never necessarily in any drama on the show. You're
- 16:03Speaker 1: kind of just like, uh, you're just hanging out. Um,
- 16:10Speaker 1: initially get a little weird. Initially correct me if I'm wrong,
- 16:15Speaker 1: because you know, I may be off a little bit.
- 16:18Speaker 1: You were brought to the show, your porscheous friends. Did
- 16:21Speaker 1: you pors you grow up together? Yeah, we both grew
- 16:25Speaker 1: up indicator are paid for good friends with each come
- 16:27Speaker 1: on out. We both went this out with the cab,
- 16:29Speaker 1: which you were forced friends that first with our parents
- 16:32Speaker 1: were good friends, and then our friendship, you know, took
- 16:35Speaker 1: on its own life and we've just been like, now
- 16:41Speaker 1: this is good. From the next question, are you cool
- 16:45Speaker 1: with anybody else on the show? Like, is there somebody
- 16:48Speaker 1: on the show that you met that was like, oh wow,
- 16:50Speaker 1: they're actually really cool or they actually might not necessarily be.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I've always been very fond of Candy Kansas. Yeah. Friends
- 17:00Speaker 1: with Candy? Yeah, her a new song, right, y'allinger, first
- 17:07Speaker 1: female whatever. I tell you. That's why you know, when
- 17:12Speaker 1: you're a good person, you're gonna always when you're gonna
- 17:14Speaker 1: stay winning, because she just she's the definition of like
- 17:17Speaker 1: her magic. She's doing everything for music to acting to
- 17:22Speaker 1: you know, she's just this is crazy crowd right like
- 17:27Speaker 1: that money. But yeah, So I met Candy up. Actually
- 17:31Speaker 1: back in the day, I was in a group called
- 17:33Speaker 1: Pretty Tony with Anthony did and with Carrie is In
- 17:37Speaker 1: and we had did It. We were in the studio
- 17:39Speaker 1: and Kenny never remembers. I mean, she remembers everything now,
- 17:42Speaker 1: but of course I wasn't cool like that back then.
- 17:44Speaker 1: She like, So I was telling her like, I met
- 17:47Speaker 1: you back in the day. I was in the group.
- 17:49Speaker 1: But the last she was like, you did. I was
- 17:50Speaker 1: like he was trying to write something. She was like,
- 17:52Speaker 1: I love like yeah, and I was like, it wasn't
- 17:56Speaker 1: Maybe it wasn't this group, Maybe it was that was
- 17:58Speaker 1: another group that myself. She's literally like I think I
- 18:03Speaker 1: told her other day I put on clostos, like I
- 18:05Speaker 1: think you have hyper with our because she don't forget nothing.
- 18:09Speaker 1: There are only a few people in this world that
- 18:11Speaker 1: can remember everything from their childhood all the way up
- 18:13Speaker 1: and today, and Kidie on those people. You can say
- 18:15Speaker 1: something on March twenty one, two thousand and four, and
- 18:19Speaker 1: she will tell you the day at the time to
- 18:22Speaker 1: play home where you said it, and how you said,
- 18:24Speaker 1: what she was wearing when she was wearing But that's crazy. Yeah,
- 18:28Speaker 1: she's like that. But yeah, So Katie was a cool
- 18:30Speaker 1: person um parts and the show, and then of course
- 18:32Speaker 1: we got a little closer with me doing the show
- 18:36Speaker 1: and being around Porsche because she and Porsche were actually
- 18:38Speaker 1: really good friends. And then we just kept our friendship going. Well,
- 18:43Speaker 1: it's a it's a lot of beef on the Housewives
- 18:46Speaker 1: of Atlanta, of course, and uh, you know, I was
- 18:49Speaker 1: a little nervous that the reunion may not be as
- 18:52Speaker 1: popping as they have been in the past because everyone
- 18:54Speaker 1: was at home. But it was like this, but maybe
- 18:59Speaker 1: that's for you. In was hot. It was hot, yo,
- 19:04Speaker 1: Para was going in on Kenya screaming crazy. That's a
- 19:12Speaker 1: great question. What is the real be? It wouldn't be
- 19:15Speaker 1: no TV if everybody got along, could be it could
- 19:20Speaker 1: be just see any good thing. Um. I think that naturally,
- 19:24Speaker 1: when you have different women, they're all powerful and doing
- 19:28Speaker 1: their own thing, and they're bosses, all of them, all
- 19:31Speaker 1: the beautiful, and you bring them all together, there's gonna
- 19:35Speaker 1: be something. And then TV just magnifies it. And then
- 19:39Speaker 1: when you look back at it, it's even worse because
- 19:41Speaker 1: it's like you live through it at the time, then
- 19:44Speaker 1: you relive through it when it airs, and then reunion
- 19:47Speaker 1: you bring it back up again to all these emotions.
- 19:49Speaker 1: So I could have beat but you robbery yesterday. We
- 19:52Speaker 1: talked about it today, Then tomorrow I'm mad again because
- 19:55Speaker 1: I'm like, I know you did this far and that
- 19:59Speaker 1: you said that. Then they' getting their confessionals and you're
- 20:02Speaker 1: just talking so crazy and then you you you relive
- 20:07Speaker 1: it like I got you on the reunion. Well, not
- 20:11Speaker 1: only do you keep it cool when you're on the show,
- 20:14Speaker 1: you seem to just be a neutral person, but it
- 20:17Speaker 1: seems like you also keep your personal life. Yeah, because
- 20:22Speaker 1: that belongs to me, I mean, And that's the crazy
- 20:24Speaker 1: thing about it. UM, just finding that balance. A lot
- 20:28Speaker 1: of people I said, even in the past, like oh,
- 20:30Speaker 1: you you'll never get a peach. I don't want one,
- 20:33Speaker 1: Like I'm a true peach because I'm from Georgia and
- 20:34Speaker 1: this is my stage. I will say, Um, my marriage,
- 20:40Speaker 1: my family will always be my priority and come first
- 20:43Speaker 1: in my life. And if it doesn't feel right for
- 20:44Speaker 1: my spoff, then it doesn't feel right for me. So
- 20:47Speaker 1: when my husband told me we were approached about it,
- 20:50Speaker 1: um doing me being full time and on the cast
- 20:53Speaker 1: um as an actual housewife. Um, I thought it was
- 20:56Speaker 1: a great opportunity here. I was ready jump all over it.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I'm like, I get to hang out with my friends
- 21:01Speaker 1: and get paid to do it, and you know, and
- 21:03Speaker 1: it just house I believe or not. Whether people admitted
- 21:06Speaker 1: it does give you the platform that you need to
- 21:09Speaker 1: rest and other things in your career, whereas it might
- 21:12Speaker 1: take me ten times longer to get an album now
- 21:14Speaker 1: if I was on, I was, I was like full time,
- 21:16Speaker 1: that would be like tomorrow you're on the Ellen Show
- 21:17Speaker 1: or now you're on with the Show. You know, like
- 21:20Speaker 1: it's just it's a platform that you just can't really
- 21:22Speaker 1: pay for. But my husband was like, I'm not comfortable
- 21:26Speaker 1: with it. I don't I don't want to do it,
- 21:27Speaker 1: and I want our lives to be good outside of
- 21:32Speaker 1: that show. Um, and I'm just not really sure that
- 21:39Speaker 1: doing a show like this will work for us. What
- 21:42Speaker 1: do you say? And I was just like I was
- 21:44Speaker 1: a little bang on. I was a little I had
- 21:46Speaker 1: a little heart burned about it the first so bothered.
- 21:49Speaker 1: That was like, hold on, you stopped my coins, but
- 21:52Speaker 1: we're gonna we got our coins over here, don't Yeah,
- 21:55Speaker 1: could keep right? So not all right now? All points
- 21:59Speaker 1: are good coins and um he brought up up He
- 22:03Speaker 1: was like, you know, there's not how many successful marriages
- 22:07Speaker 1: have you seen on reality TV? Period? Not house Hello
- 22:11Speaker 1: as I'm not taking no dig that Housewives by any means,
- 22:15Speaker 1: but just period, because he's like, because some things, you know,
- 22:18Speaker 1: your mom used to tell you what happens in this house,
- 22:19Speaker 1: stay in this house. That has always been our thing.
- 22:23Speaker 1: What happens in this house on TV is all on
- 22:25Speaker 1: TV and the intern all fair game. It's often because
- 22:30Speaker 1: they said, people feel like you signed up for it,
- 22:33Speaker 1: Like that's funny because I always hear um celebrities go
- 22:37Speaker 1: back and forth with with fans about like, you know
- 22:40Speaker 1: you signed up for it. Well, I didn't sign up
- 22:42Speaker 1: for you to come up to me and say, well,
- 22:43Speaker 1: I'm having dinner with my family, or when I'm at
- 22:45Speaker 1: my going to college office, you asking me for a
- 22:47Speaker 1: picture and I got our legs and there like you know,
- 22:51Speaker 1: it's like there's some privacy and that's just something that
- 22:54Speaker 1: we both agree that we wanted to keep. People have
- 22:57Speaker 1: not realized that they have become so concerned ooomed with
- 23:01Speaker 1: looking into other people's lives that they it's just second
- 23:04Speaker 1: nature to them to say that, yeah, signed up to
- 23:08Speaker 1: not have any privacy. Is bs like, no, I signed
- 23:11Speaker 1: up to share my art, to share my talent. I
- 23:14Speaker 1: don't have to give you every single, every single minute
- 23:17Speaker 1: of my life. I can be with my family and
- 23:19Speaker 1: enjoy that. I don't owe you a photo every time
- 23:22Speaker 1: and autograph every time. And that's why I a friend
- 23:25Speaker 1: to the show for me works for me because I
- 23:27Speaker 1: can jump in and play what I want and then
- 23:29Speaker 1: I can just go home to my man and my
- 23:32Speaker 1: my daughter and my life and be happy with it
- 23:35Speaker 1: knowing that we are good and we you know, we
- 23:38Speaker 1: have a functioning family unit that works for all of us.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Everybody's comfortable. I'm a TV person. He never asked to
- 23:43Speaker 1: be in the spotlight. Like, let's just be clear that
- 23:46Speaker 1: that was never How how did you guys think for him?
- 23:49Speaker 1: You know the club rose Bar? Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know,
- 24:00Speaker 1: and we were all pay So I used to go
- 24:01Speaker 1: to Rosebar often. But she called me one night and
- 24:04Speaker 1: she's like, I'm I'm going to Havanna come up there.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Like okay, bet so, I ran into this girl who
- 24:09Speaker 1: did my makeup back in the day. Um, and you
- 24:12Speaker 1: know how you always come into somebody and they're like
- 24:13Speaker 1: we should hang out and you're like, okay, yeah, girl,
- 24:15Speaker 1: cool call me you never. It's just something she actually
- 24:19Speaker 1: called me. She's like, I'm going through the divorce and
- 24:21Speaker 1: I really need a friend in Atlanta. I just got
- 24:22Speaker 1: back here and I don't. I don't really have anybody
- 24:24Speaker 1: hang out. I was like, well, I'm not sure about
- 24:26Speaker 1: to hang out with my girl. You can come with
- 24:27Speaker 1: us if you want. She's like, we going. I was like, Havana.
- 24:29Speaker 1: She she was like, okay, well my friend has a
- 24:32Speaker 1: section over at Rosebar. And I was like, okay, well
- 24:36Speaker 1: I'll duck in there for just a second, have a
- 24:39Speaker 1: drink and she then I'll go across street to my
- 24:40Speaker 1: girl gets a rose bar. Dying chocolate ass overre sitting
- 24:46Speaker 1: in the section, but he's super low key. He's that's
- 24:48Speaker 1: his thing. I'm the one that's like he's like, you know,
- 24:51Speaker 1: he's sitting back. You know what I'm like, So he's
- 24:54Speaker 1: sitting back and so wait, so then it's like, you
- 24:57Speaker 1: know how there's always one guy in the section that
- 24:58Speaker 1: does the most. So he's and these are like a
- 25:01Speaker 1: bunch of African guys. He's happening the guys. So they're
- 25:04Speaker 1: all like older and now I walked into section. They're
- 25:07Speaker 1: like cooling on me and they like but he's like
- 25:09Speaker 1: laid back, not he's not even sitting up from on
- 25:11Speaker 1: top of the sofa. He just sitting low. And then
- 25:14Speaker 1: he got another girl beside him. The girls like the
- 25:16Speaker 1: heavy said lady, and I say lady because she seemed
- 25:20Speaker 1: really mature, you know what I mean. She's sitting there
- 25:22Speaker 1: and she's quiet. I'm like, oh, that must be his wife.
- 25:24Speaker 1: And I'm like, hey, how y'all doing? And so he's like, oh,
- 25:26Speaker 1: like I don't know her, you know. So I'm like okay.
- 25:28Speaker 1: She's like, we'll help me stops a drink and I'm like, oh, okay,
- 25:30Speaker 1: So I gonna sit over here by then because this
- 25:33Speaker 1: is where a stafe because they ain't check it, ain't
- 25:35Speaker 1: trying to be on me like that. And I got
- 25:36Speaker 1: my girl who's working the little section because she divorcing,
- 25:40Speaker 1: you know, she's I ain't sitting there right. So Infortugal,
- 25:43Speaker 1: she's like coming across the street, so I get up please,
- 25:46Speaker 1: and the guy a little sexy and some lesson of
- 25:48Speaker 1: mine says, you're leaving, and I'm like, yeah, like you
- 25:52Speaker 1: he said none to me. I'm thinking myself, he didn't
- 25:54Speaker 1: even talk trying to talk to me, like you only
- 25:56Speaker 1: got any try to talk to But I was like, yeah,
- 25:58Speaker 1: I'm leaving, going across the street and say oh, so
- 26:00Speaker 1: then I was like yeah, he's like okay. I was
- 26:03Speaker 1: like okay. So I was like bye, so go across street.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Or she's like, I gotta get up in the morning
- 26:07Speaker 1: for dish, so just I'm gonna I'm like, I'm still
- 26:10Speaker 1: hang out. So my girl calls me and she's like, girl,
- 26:13Speaker 1: Rose bars popping. Now we was here too early. Come
- 26:15Speaker 1: back comes street. I crossed the street. When I get
- 26:21Speaker 1: in there, he's like, oh you're back, and I'm like,
- 26:25Speaker 1: okay drinking. I'm like right, I'm like okay, so then
- 26:28Speaker 1: maybe you'll drink Anyway. The next day, my girls like,
- 26:31Speaker 1: you know, boy, who said you was in? I was like,
- 26:33Speaker 1: who the other guy? Because you know what, I'm like,
- 26:34Speaker 1: I'm thinking this the other guy who's all loud. So
- 26:38Speaker 1: check we nott grabbed the check and pay for the
- 26:41Speaker 1: damn check with my husband car. But at the time, Flax,
- 26:45Speaker 1: you know that's in that last ship he flexed and
- 26:47Speaker 1: so okay, I was like, no, I don't really and
- 26:50Speaker 1: he's like, no, I'm not the one that she was
- 26:51Speaker 1: sitting by the you know. The ball head guy was like,
- 26:54Speaker 1: oh I thought he was on the day. He's like's
- 26:56Speaker 1: not a thing a girl. So he's like he's having
- 26:58Speaker 1: a cookout Sunday. He wants you to come, like wanted
- 27:00Speaker 1: to go to this man's house. I end up at
- 27:02Speaker 1: the house. We never stopped talking after that, Like story
- 27:11Speaker 1: the club. This is a funny. This is how I
- 27:13Speaker 1: knew like I could be with this guy. So I
- 27:15Speaker 1: go to his house. That's Sunday for the cook out.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I'm riding with my girl. She picks me up from
- 27:19Speaker 1: the mall. I leave my car here. I grab you know,
- 27:22Speaker 1: all women had this big hand bad. But then we
- 27:23Speaker 1: have a little another little small thing in there with
- 27:25Speaker 1: our phone, our car and all that stuff. So I'll
- 27:27Speaker 1: take my that little section, my little while it out,
- 27:30Speaker 1: leave my person in her car. All this has is
- 27:32Speaker 1: a relative to this. I leave my big person in
- 27:35Speaker 1: the car with my kids in it. My car now
- 27:36Speaker 1: is still at fifth. So when it's out of his house,
- 27:39Speaker 1: we're hanging out and it's like real family oriented. But
- 27:41Speaker 1: I got this little last tennis skirt on frothing like
- 27:44Speaker 1: this family took out, not like uh, you know, I'm stop.
- 27:48Speaker 1: So I'm like I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go. He's like,
- 27:52Speaker 1: oh no, no no. So he sends all the kids
- 27:53Speaker 1: upstairs and he hang out of his basement. Now at
- 27:55Speaker 1: this point, he's talking my head off. We talk. We
- 27:58Speaker 1: end up going to after our because all the food
- 28:00Speaker 1: gets gone, and he's like, oh, that's just we're gonna
- 28:04Speaker 1: take you over here. We all get in Uber's and
- 28:05Speaker 1: we go over there to this little spot um and
- 28:08Speaker 1: it's called it was called Josephine over there and we eat,
- 28:11Speaker 1: yeah those he likes. We eat and we hang out.
- 28:13Speaker 1: My girl gets drunk. She leaves. That's a random guy.
- 28:16Speaker 1: I'm panted. I'm were wrest Okay. He's like, well, we
- 28:19Speaker 1: just over back to my place and I'm like, yeah,
- 28:21Speaker 1: but my my person is in her car, which has
- 28:23Speaker 1: my keys, which I ain't gonna calling my parents at
- 28:27Speaker 1: four in the morning. Be like, I'm locked out. You
- 28:31Speaker 1: know that extra back You're come all I need it
- 28:35Speaker 1: right now? Can you mean it? So look, So we
- 28:37Speaker 1: get back to his house and he's like, you can
- 28:39Speaker 1: just go lay on my bed. I'm good. I want.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I'm like, no, I bet you are good. I ain't
- 28:44Speaker 1: gonna lay on your bed. He's like, no, I'm sleep
- 28:46Speaker 1: on the couch. I gonna let on his bed. He
- 28:49Speaker 1: did montly on the couch. He comes and like truy
- 28:52Speaker 1: to creep up beside me. I'm like, oh, that's too much,
- 28:54Speaker 1: you know, I just but he didn't try, you didn't.
- 28:56Speaker 1: He tried, but he didn't like he laid off, you know,
- 28:58Speaker 1: sometimes be a little too pushy. So we just drank good.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I don't night y'all. I got the bubble good round six. No,
- 29:08Speaker 1: let me tell you, And this was no, I don't
- 29:15Speaker 1: smoke Coco. It would have been worse, girl. Let me
- 29:19Speaker 1: tell you. It was like a breaking symphony orchestra. I
- 29:23Speaker 1: took the loudest ship known to mankind, and I feel
- 29:27Speaker 1: like echo because I was so quiet, like you couldn't
- 29:31Speaker 1: even hear the A. I was like, how the quiet?
- 29:35Speaker 1: So at my tiptoe trying to go to the bathroom.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I tried to go come on out in the hall
- 29:40Speaker 1: so like you know, I could do my thing and
- 29:42Speaker 1: he would be by the way. I seemed like up.
- 29:43Speaker 1: He was like you okay, and I was like and
- 29:47Speaker 1: so so, oh yeah, I'm just in the gut thirst room.
- 29:49Speaker 1: He's like, no, just use the one right here. And
- 29:51Speaker 1: I was like, oh no, I'm don't know. He's like,
- 29:53Speaker 1: I'll just use this when it's fine. So I'm in
- 29:56Speaker 1: there and I'm holding out on the tour and I'm
- 29:57Speaker 1: trying like like you were here lunch after this, but
- 30:03Speaker 1: that and it was so loud. Oh my god, it
- 30:05Speaker 1: was so loud. Y'all. This is what we go that's
- 30:08Speaker 1: what we go through that time. I was like, it
- 30:10Speaker 1: was like going the walk of shame. When I walked
- 30:12Speaker 1: out of the bathroom, he was like, he was He's
- 30:14Speaker 1: so sweet. This is his personality. He's like, he don't
- 30:16Speaker 1: make a joke. Al He's like, are you okay? You
- 30:21Speaker 1: know what I was doing? I was like yeah. Then
- 30:25Speaker 1: my girl cough and she's like, hey, I'm outsiding like you.
- 30:29Speaker 1: So I was so pissed out at her, But no,
- 30:32Speaker 1: it was good. That's it. I was like, he don't
- 30:33Speaker 1: call me no more. Let me just go ahead and
- 30:35Speaker 1: raise this number. Like I shut up this man's bathroom.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Ain't got no matches, ain't got nothing. It's girl. Did
- 30:41Speaker 1: you give the courtesy? Flush? I did? I kept as
- 30:44Speaker 1: long as you give us this right away, y'all know
- 30:53Speaker 1: you so thinking I had this conversation, he was like
- 30:56Speaker 1: is it He's like he's completely turned off. The girl
- 31:00Speaker 1: takes the dump and gets back in the bed with him.
- 31:02Speaker 1: He feels like she needs She's got a shower and everything.
- 31:05Speaker 1: She takes the dump like she don't need to get
- 31:07Speaker 1: back into bed. So y'all know how I feel. So
- 31:08Speaker 1: the call came around time and she was like, I'm outside.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I was like, okay, by hey man, that's a real story.
- 31:17Speaker 1: It happens to women across the world, across the nation.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Before he called you, territory, just ship here here put
- 31:25Speaker 1: the rain like that. Long before he called you back, though,
- 31:31Speaker 1: now he called me. We He texted me like two
- 31:34Speaker 1: days later as to me if we could go to dinner.
- 31:36Speaker 1: You know, we're friends. Now if you told us this
- 31:38Speaker 1: type of story, you know that, right, we're all best friends.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Let's go. I'm gonna go downstairs with her wife exactly
- 31:45Speaker 1: what you just said. Watch and I bet she got
- 31:47Speaker 1: a story similar to it. I bet you that. You guys,
- 31:50Speaker 1: they tell you you don't want that side as that
- 31:53Speaker 1: when I go downstairs. All right, Well, we keep you long,
- 31:56Speaker 1: miss more, and we appreciate you. You are necessary. Everything
- 32:00Speaker 1: that you do out here in these at L streets,
- 32:03Speaker 1: nationwide streets, we appreciate. I don't think you understand, um,
- 32:07Speaker 1: how big of a influence you are. Just from your
- 32:11Speaker 1: black girl magic and everything you do um and everything
- 32:14Speaker 1: you've accomplished. I'm definitely a fan of you. That's why
- 32:18Speaker 1: i'm actually you know, I booked the talent, so I
- 32:19Speaker 1: was like, we gotta get Shami. Yes. I was so
- 32:21Speaker 1: honored when you when you hit me, I was like,
- 32:23Speaker 1: you want me? Yes said it. We were all like, yes,
- 32:29Speaker 1: makes sense, please book her right now. It just it
- 32:32Speaker 1: all made sense. You know. I felt like I knew you.
- 32:35Speaker 1: But then I remember when I did the morning show
- 32:36Speaker 1: with you, and I was like, wow, you actually are
- 32:39Speaker 1: really really cool. So you know that's me. I'm sure. Yeah,
- 32:47Speaker 1: I never met you before, but you know you have
