Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: And the Kracking a power playload.
- 0:02Speaker 2: This is the Kraking Postgame Show, brought to you by
- 0:06Speaker 2: Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look at
- 0:09Speaker 2: your Kraken Hockey. It's the post game on the Global
- 0:13Speaker 2: Credit Union Kraken Audio Network.
- 0:16Speaker 1: We're back. It's on a climbing plag arena.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Three to two, Cracking take down the Kings in overtime.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Let's boss for a station ID on the Global Credit
- 0:24Speaker 3: Union Cracking Audio Network. Vince Don, with his fifth career
- 0:34Speaker 3: overtime winner, snaps the Krack in six game winless streak
- 0:39Speaker 3: O five and oh five and one rather no more
- 0:43Speaker 3: as the Cracking back in the win column with a
- 0:46Speaker 3: big two points over their division arrival.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Well coming back as well after going down there in
- 0:51Speaker 4: that second period to get it tied up late and
- 0:54Speaker 4: win it in overtime. You talk about breaking a losing streak.
- 0:57Speaker 4: When you can break it in a game like that,
- 0:59Speaker 4: that's a big character builder for your team. I guarantee
- 1:02Speaker 4: that locker room's rocking right now. Guys feel good about
- 1:05Speaker 4: that one.
- 1:06Speaker 3: I want to meet the guy that said the Cracking
- 1:08Speaker 3: power play is struggling three.
- 1:09Speaker 1: For seven three power play goals tonight partner. Yeah, you can't.
- 1:13Speaker 4: You can't bock at that something's working there when you're
- 1:16Speaker 4: getting three.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Out of seven cracking, bending and not breaking. They had
- 1:20Speaker 3: a one to one tie after the second period. Similarly
- 1:23Speaker 3: to the game against the Minnesota Wild on Monday, the
- 1:26Speaker 3: Wild took a two to one league Kings take a
- 1:28Speaker 3: two to one lead with a little over five minutes
- 1:32Speaker 3: to play in the period, but it was a back
- 1:34Speaker 3: to back power play goal effort for Seattle. Matty Veneers
- 1:38Speaker 3: is fourth at nineteen thirty four and then a minute
- 1:41Speaker 3: twenty one into overtime, Anton Forrestburg takes out Jared mccannon's
- 1:46Speaker 3: leg and we're gonna have to wait and see. It
- 1:48Speaker 3: did not look good mccam walking down the tunnel with
- 1:52Speaker 3: help from two kracking trainers, But it was Vince Dunn's
- 1:56Speaker 3: fifth of the season.
- 1:57Speaker 1: The third power play goal of the night gave the
- 2:00Speaker 1: crack in the win.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Absolutely, and you're right, you hope there's nothing long term
- 2:04Speaker 4: on that situation.
- 2:05Speaker 1: But we talked about it.
- 2:06Speaker 4: I talked about it that that tying goal was probably
- 2:08Speaker 4: going to be a greasy goal and it was a
- 2:10Speaker 4: toulven And shot and Maddy Banier's deflection that ended up
- 2:13Speaker 4: beating Forresburg. And you know, on a deflection like that,
- 2:16Speaker 4: you don't know where the puck's going. You're just trying
- 2:18Speaker 4: to redirect it back towards the net. That's what Maddy
- 2:20Speaker 4: Beniers does, but it gives it makes the goaltender have
- 2:23Speaker 4: a difficult time getting set up for because.
- 2:25Speaker 1: He doesn't know where it's going either.
- 2:26Speaker 4: So greasy goal there by Matty Baniers to tie it up,
- 2:29Speaker 4: and obviously a bullet of a shot by Vince Vince
- 2:32Speaker 4: Dune to win it in overtime.
- 2:33Speaker 3: La tolban and two assists tonight, Vince Dunn adding a
- 2:36Speaker 3: pair of helpers as well, so a three point night
- 2:39Speaker 3: for him. Of course, Jared mccannon with the first power
- 2:42Speaker 3: play goal for the Crack in three forty one into
- 2:44Speaker 3: that second period for Seattle. For all that had gone
- 2:48Speaker 3: wrong these land these last handful of games, and you
- 2:51Speaker 3: and I have talked about how the Crack and have
- 2:53Speaker 3: gotten points worthy efforts but were not rewarded with the
- 2:57Speaker 3: results for those efforts. Comparing tonight's game to Monday against
- 3:03Speaker 3: Minnesota Saturday against the Red Wings, of course, you can
- 3:06Speaker 3: go back to the last two oiler games, the Dallas
- 3:08Speaker 3: Star Game before the Thanksgiving break as well. What did
- 3:12Speaker 3: you see the biggest differences for Seattle here tonight work?
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I just thought that you got a little bit
- 3:17Speaker 4: more out of everybody, you know, and and that was
- 3:20Speaker 4: in different areas of the ice. It was on the
- 3:21Speaker 4: penalty kill. We talked about, you know, the fact that
- 3:25Speaker 4: early on the game they went three for three on
- 3:27Speaker 4: the penalty kill keeping La off the board.
- 3:28Speaker 1: There.
- 3:29Speaker 4: It was the power play got better. I think physicality.
- 3:32Speaker 4: It was a two to one ratio about eating La
- 3:34Speaker 4: at one point in the game. So everybody contributing just
- 3:37Speaker 4: a little bit more, playing the game a little bit,
- 3:39Speaker 4: a little bit more, a little more cleaner. I think
- 3:42Speaker 4: it is why you got this result here.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Three to two overtime win for Seattle. We'll go to
- 3:46Speaker 3: a timeout, comeback with more after this on the Global
- 3:49Speaker 3: Credit Union Cracking Audio Network.

- 6:03Speaker 1: The final times.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Tonight, welcome back inside of Climbing Plage Arena alongside al Kanisky.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Everard fits you back with you with say three to
- 6:11Speaker 3: two Seattle overtime win Vince Dunn his fifth goal of
- 6:15Speaker 3: the season, his fifth game winning overtime game winning goal
- 6:19Speaker 3: of his career. As well, we've had a rarity up
- 6:22Speaker 3: here also in the Crack and Audio Network both a
- 6:24Speaker 3: pair of SAT words dropped in this game by Big
- 6:28Speaker 3: al Konisky earlier in the game. He just dropped nomenclature
- 6:33Speaker 3: as well on the broadcast.
- 6:35Speaker 1: So big night for you, but big night just showing
- 6:37Speaker 1: off my public schooling background.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Cracking a three to two win here in overtime as
- 6:44Speaker 3: we await the arrival of Shane Wright here in a
- 6:47Speaker 3: matter of moments, and we've talked a lot about the
- 6:50Speaker 3: schedule for the Seattle Crack and that is not easy.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And I'm a big scheduling nerd.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Before the season, I might to go win through the
- 6:56Speaker 3: schedule and pick out the holes and the trends and whatnot.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Kraken all season long have just three instances when you
- 7:03Speaker 3: don't count the Christmas break or the Olympic break where
- 7:07Speaker 3: they've had three days off in between games. All three
- 7:10Speaker 3: of those instances have happened between now and the end
- 7:13Speaker 3: of the year. The Seattle krackn have two days off
- 7:16Speaker 3: in between games, just three more times, so it is
- 7:19Speaker 3: every other day or back to back between now and then.
- 7:22Speaker 1: We also discussed about how if.
- 7:24Speaker 3: You're winning, you maybe want to keep on going, but
- 7:27Speaker 3: if you're losing, these things have a tendency to snowball,
- 7:30Speaker 3: and Ley Lambert said, we have to just force it
- 7:32Speaker 3: through and keep at it.
- 7:33Speaker 1: They did it here tonight.
- 7:34Speaker 3: But the schedule is not easy, but Seattle found a
- 7:37Speaker 3: way to get it done this evening.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Yeah, you're absolutely right, Neil.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Like I said before the game, we talked about schedule,
- 7:42Speaker 4: is you got this period between now and the Christmas
- 7:44Speaker 4: break where you want to get that snowball, that proverbial snowball,
- 7:48Speaker 4: proverbial snowball, three rolling. You want to get it rolling,
- 7:52Speaker 4: and then you get that break at Christmas. Yeah right,
- 7:54Speaker 4: but when you come back, you carry that momentum into
- 7:57Speaker 4: that next session, that seventeen games schedule in uh in January,
- 8:02Speaker 4: after the remainder of December, and you know you want
- 8:04Speaker 4: to get those wins stacked up. No, it's not gonna
- 8:06Speaker 4: be a seven game, seventeen game winning streak, but you
- 8:09Speaker 4: start to feel like, hey, we can grab the majority here,
- 8:12Speaker 4: we can get a get back into a playoff position,
- 8:14Speaker 4: and that's where you want to be heading into the
- 8:15Speaker 4: Olympic break.
- 8:16Speaker 3: I'll take a seventeen game if you're kissing out seventeen
- 8:19Speaker 3: game winning streaks, My hands first in line. I'm standing
- 8:22Speaker 3: up there. We we please as well. We have way
- 8:30Speaker 3: too much fun up here on this broadcast. Three to
- 8:32Speaker 3: two krack and win over the La Kings if you
- 8:33Speaker 3: can't tell trying to kill some time before shape shit
- 8:36Speaker 3: comes onto the broadcast.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Uh.
- 8:38Speaker 3: We touched on it as well, the dad's trip in
- 8:40Speaker 3: town for the Seattle crack in and what a way
- 8:43Speaker 3: to send them home happy. Also off to Utah tomorrow.
- 8:46Speaker 3: They'll play the Mammoth on Friday Night. What do they
- 8:50Speaker 3: need to do with the Kraken to keep this momentum
- 8:53Speaker 3: going and turn this five, this six game losing streak
- 8:57Speaker 3: into a two game winning streak. Well, the Matmoth are
- 8:59Speaker 3: a team that have had a lot of success early
- 9:00Speaker 3: on the season, and they too went through a little
- 9:03Speaker 3: bit of a rough patch patch recently, and they're trying
- 9:05Speaker 3: to get the same situation that I just talked about
- 9:08Speaker 3: with the crack and some momentum going into that holiday
- 9:10Speaker 3: break and off from there. So they're gonna face a
- 9:14Speaker 3: team that's trying to do the same thing that the
- 9:15Speaker 3: Kraken's doing, and they're gonna do it in their own building.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Kracking have not won there.
- 9:19Speaker 4: That's got a factor in it as well, not in
- 9:21Speaker 4: a negative way, but you carried that momentum tonight into
- 9:24Speaker 4: that building and you go get a win there at
- 9:26Speaker 4: the United Center.
- 9:27Speaker 3: How about Joey Decord here tonight with this Seattle crack
- 9:31Speaker 3: and coming into the game, he was on an zero
- 9:33Speaker 3: four and one stretch, won six and one in his
- 9:36Speaker 3: last eight games.
- 9:38Speaker 1: He needed a big bounce back.
- 9:39Speaker 3: He'll tell you that it's not been the start to
- 9:42Speaker 3: the season that he wants. He's dealt with some injury
- 9:44Speaker 3: as well, and now to get back in the win
- 9:47Speaker 3: column for him, that was a massive effort. He put
- 9:50Speaker 3: out some big saves, especially in that third period.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Yeah, we talk a lot about a high danger chances
- 9:55Speaker 4: and La had five of them. I think at least
- 9:58Speaker 4: four of them, maybe all five of them were in
- 10:00Speaker 4: right in front of that blue paint area where he
- 10:02Speaker 4: had to come up with not one but multiple saves
- 10:05Speaker 4: before the play either ended because he got the puck
- 10:08Speaker 4: covered up or the Cracker were able to clear it.
- 10:10Speaker 4: So big game from him tonight.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Well, wait, a couple more minutes for Shane, right, and
- 10:14Speaker 3: then we may have to just punt and we'll talk
- 10:15Speaker 3: to him next time out as we got a couple
- 10:17Speaker 3: of things to get to, a clock to keep, if
- 10:19Speaker 3: you will here in the radio business.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Al over to the year.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Yeah, takeaways to takeaways and three stars from Mama Kay.
- 10:23Speaker 4: First of all, I thought the PK was I wrote fantastic.
- 10:27Speaker 4: I wrote it down when it was three for three. Obviously,
- 10:29Speaker 4: the double minor at the end of the game turned
- 10:31Speaker 4: out to be an l a goal and it ended
- 10:34Speaker 4: four or five. But the special teams tonight were a
- 10:38Speaker 4: big part of the outcome. Power play was better for sure,
- 10:41Speaker 4: McCann getting the power play goal there in the second period.
- 10:43Speaker 4: We just talked about Joey to court. I'd written his
- 10:45Speaker 4: name down, but a few players that aren't in the
- 10:48Speaker 4: three starts tonight that i'll just call out separately. Told
- 10:51Speaker 4: then and he had two assists, he had four hits,
- 10:54Speaker 4: Coppo Coco. He had five shots on goal. He's a
- 10:58Speaker 4: guy that's been I wouldn't say on the Schneid, but
- 11:00Speaker 4: he's a guy that wants to score more. So great
- 11:02Speaker 4: to see him putting a lot of pucks on that tonight.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Three stars brought to you by Mamakay. Third star goes
- 11:07Speaker 4: to Maddy Beveniers tonight. He had one goal and also
- 11:10Speaker 4: five shots on goal. Second start tonight goes to Joey Decord.
- 11:13Speaker 4: He stopped twenty three of twenty five. He had a
- 11:15Speaker 4: nine to two to zero save percentage. I know last
- 11:17Speaker 4: time you played it drop below nine hundred, so he's
- 11:20Speaker 4: looking forward to get that back up above nine hundred.
- 11:23Speaker 4: And then your first star tonight, no surprise, Vince Done
- 11:28Speaker 4: one goal, two assists and obviously that overtime winner was
- 11:32Speaker 4: his goal tonight. It's a big game for the defense
- 11:33Speaker 4: been Vince.
- 11:34Speaker 3: And you talk about two players that warn in the
- 11:36Speaker 3: three stars, I mean I'm gonna give an honorable mention
- 11:38Speaker 3: to Ellie Toviden as well. I mean to two primary
- 11:41Speaker 3: assists in this one. Well, yeah, two primary assists. And
- 11:43Speaker 3: I mentioned the four hits. One of those was on
- 11:45Speaker 3: Quinton Byfield.
- 11:46Speaker 4: As the first period, I thought we were gonna see
- 11:48Speaker 4: the same situation we saw the other night with the
- 11:50Speaker 4: Vince dun hit that he threw was a very similar
- 11:54Speaker 4: open ice hit. I just don't think he caught Quinton
- 11:57Speaker 4: Byfield with quite as much of the shoulder.
- 11:59Speaker 1: That'll do it here for us.
- 12:00Speaker 3: We're gonna have to punt so on Shane Wright as
- 12:02Speaker 3: we got some bills to pay on the other side.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Mike Benton standing by with your postgame show to take
- 12:07Speaker 3: you the rest of the way in recap and exciting
- 12:10Speaker 3: three to two overtime win over the LA Kings, Mike
- 12:14Speaker 3: take it away.
- 12:15Speaker 11: Yes, guys, what a comeback, what a finish, and tonight
- 12:18Speaker 11: the crack and looking for new life. The rally late
- 12:21Speaker 11: and third period, well you could say they got it done.
- 12:24Speaker 11: Vin's done a three point night, Matty Benier's game time
- 12:27Speaker 11: goal made that comeback possible, and the Kraken right now
- 12:30Speaker 11: it feels if they have new Life for the power
- 12:33Speaker 11: play back to Life three for seven and zero five
- 12:36Speaker 11: and one skid up in smoke they come back and
- 12:39Speaker 11: beat the Kings three two and over time and a
- 12:41Speaker 11: lot more to cover here across the street at Tom's
- 12:44Speaker 11: Watch Bar, highlights coming your way out of town, scores,
- 12:47Speaker 11: more reaction back downstairs, plus Curtis Crabtree of Fox thirteen
- 12:51Speaker 11: as well joining us here for talking Crack in Texas

- 17:06Speaker 11: six points as well, ending two straight games as well

- 17:34Speaker 11: all of life's adventures. No surprise, these two teams playing
- 17:39Speaker 11: tight checking hockey. You can expect little event. In the
- 17:42Speaker 11: first period. We got low event with a nothing nothing
- 17:45Speaker 11: tie in the shots in favor of the Kings at
- 17:48Speaker 11: nine to six into the second period, the Kraken early
- 17:51Speaker 11: on going to the power play looking to strike through
- 17:55Speaker 11: with the first goal.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Now Seattle says it done. High slop macad.
- 18:07Speaker 17: Sharon McCann on the power play with sixteen thirty nine
- 18:12Speaker 17: to play in the second it's a what nothing Seattle cracking.
- 18:15Speaker 4: Lead well Quinton fifield brokey stick and I couldn't believe it.
- 18:18Speaker 1: He went to the pitch to get a new stick,
- 18:20Speaker 1: which left.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Three King players in their own zone to demn five
- 18:24Speaker 4: cracking players. Jun gets the puck on the half wall,
- 18:27Speaker 4: feats to McGann top of the circles. He beats Anton
- 18:30Speaker 4: Forresburg gets one nothing in Seattle.
- 18:33Speaker 11: Jared McCann getting his fifth goal of the season from
- 18:35Speaker 11: Vince Dunn and Chandler Stevenson at three twenty one, with
- 18:39Speaker 11: the Kraken working the puck for open ice and they
- 18:41Speaker 11: found McCann right between the circles puck on stick and pager.
- 18:46Speaker 11: McCann getting his fifth goal and as well points in
- 18:49Speaker 11: three of four games to put the Kraken up one
- 18:52Speaker 11: nothing but potentially a big turning point. With the Kraken
- 18:55Speaker 11: falling short on a five on three situation, it would
- 18:58Speaker 11: go to five on four and the Kings, sniffing out
- 19:01Speaker 11: a turnover, got a breakaway and tied the game courtesy
- 19:04Speaker 11: Alex Lafarrier at eight sixteen period two for a short
- 19:08Speaker 11: handed goal and again a one to one tie. Urmia
- 19:11Speaker 11: had the assist on the play. The Crakens so close
- 19:14Speaker 11: to taking a two to one lead, Brandon Montour poking
- 19:17Speaker 11: a loose puck through traffic at the blue paint, and
- 19:20Speaker 11: then the goal would be waved off no video review
- 19:23Speaker 11: as well, and the game still maintaining a one to
- 19:27Speaker 11: one tie by the end of two periods of play
- 19:30Speaker 11: and a tough goaltending duel in between Joey to Cord
- 19:33Speaker 11: and Anton Forrestburg, both both goaltenders, each giving up just
- 19:37Speaker 11: one goal apiece for the first forty minutes of play
- 19:41Speaker 11: into period three, then the Kings taking the lead on
- 19:45Speaker 11: Kevin Fiala's eleventh goal of the season, and as well
- 19:48Speaker 11: off another potential big turning point with Corey Perry before
- 19:52Speaker 11: the goal hit with a high stick, Ryker Evans off
- 19:54Speaker 11: for a double minor and Fila going backhand on the
- 19:57Speaker 11: Cord at fourteen forty to make it too won. The Kings,
- 20:01Speaker 11: also with special teams in their favorite at that point,
- 20:05Speaker 11: getting the assist from on Jacobe Patar and Adrian Kempe.
- 20:09Speaker 11: It was just their second power play in the last
- 20:12Speaker 11: seven games, but none so fast this game, providing more
- 20:16Speaker 11: plot twists as well. Jared mccannon, tied up with Anton Forrestburg,
- 20:19Speaker 11: was slew footed right out the front of the net
- 20:22Speaker 11: that Cant helped up toward the Kraken dressing room and
- 20:25Speaker 11: ominous sign the Forrestburg, the goaltender hit with a tripping penalty,
- 20:29Speaker 11: and the Kraken, still with some life looking for one
- 20:33Speaker 11: last breath on the power play and time winding down,
- 20:37Speaker 11: tied up off.
- 20:37Speaker 3: The draw Cope Paitar wins at Edmondson around the boards,
- 20:41Speaker 3: Done saves it near corner.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Here's Tobaan to the face off, dot Sientery.
- 20:45Speaker 18: Pass w directs the shot home on the power play.
- 20:54Speaker 17: The Seattle checking tie the team to two two eight twenty.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Four point eight left in this third well.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Seattle loses that draw at the offensive end of the ice,
- 21:07Speaker 4: but it's fits done down interested on the blue line,
- 21:09Speaker 4: keeping the puck in, he gets it down to Tolven
- 21:11Speaker 4: and tolven It sells the shot.
- 21:13Speaker 11: Let's it go.
- 21:14Speaker 4: It's a deflection by Matti Veneers that ties this.
- 21:16Speaker 11: Game up at two six. Attacker and the Kraken come
- 21:21Speaker 11: through to tie it up and give themselves brand new
- 21:24Speaker 11: life at nineteen thirty four. Officially a power play goal,
- 21:27Speaker 11: Matty Veneers has fourth on the year, breaking a six
- 21:31Speaker 11: game goal scoring draft on his side. Ellie t Toulvenen
- 21:34Speaker 11: Vince Donne as well with the assists and quite the
- 21:38Speaker 11: fying time for Beneers to find the score sheet once again,
- 21:41Speaker 11: all tied at two appiece and anybody's game heading into
- 21:45Speaker 11: overtime once again, penalties at the forefront, the Kings taking
- 21:50Speaker 11: another in overtime with Adrian Kempe offers slashing and the
- 21:54Speaker 11: Kraken power play going for the win and the trifecta.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Everly, it's a tolvid in acrost stop.
- 22:08Speaker 18: Vince gets it done and over time free two settle well.
- 22:15Speaker 4: A great setup by Jordan Eberly who feeds the puck
- 22:18Speaker 4: over to Total the total, who waits for Vince time
- 22:20Speaker 4: to get a position for a one.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Timer in the high slot, slides it over to him.
- 22:24Speaker 1: It's a bob track and win three to two.
- 22:28Speaker 7: Pray on the final.
- 22:29Speaker 11: Kicks, find time to break out of a four game
- 22:33Speaker 11: goal scoring drought and bring funnel cakes right back into
- 22:36Speaker 11: the conversation once again. Has Vince done? Capping off a
- 22:39Speaker 11: three point night, fifth goal of the year, coming unassisted
- 22:42Speaker 11: one twenty on the third crack and power play goal
- 22:46Speaker 11: of the evening and not enough to finish shot the
- 22:48Speaker 11: Kings in a three to two victory. By the way,
- 22:52Speaker 11: Done getting a three point nine. All of this all
- 22:55Speaker 11: part of a night where he gets his two hundredth
- 22:57Speaker 11: point with a franchise, becoming the fastest active defenseman by

- 23:12Speaker 11: Kracking going three of seven on the power play. That
- 23:16Speaker 11: is a season high for power play goals in one game,
- 23:19Speaker 11: Los Angeles going one for five. Your final shots on

- 23:25Speaker 11: with the win in net going to Joey to Court
- 23:28Speaker 11: who was terrific this evening, twenty four saves on twenty
- 23:33Speaker 11: six shots. OT loss to Anton Forrestburg thirty saves on
- 23:37Speaker 11: thirty three shots. The Courts record moving now with the
- 23:41Speaker 11: win to eight seven and forur Forrestburg is now four

- 24:11Speaker 3: Joel Edmondson trying to float it down the wall, now
- 24:14Speaker 3: the cracking to pick it back up.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Here comes Vaneers two on one with Everly.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Vaneers shoots knocked down by Forstburg, cucks behind him.
- 24:20Speaker 1: He didn't know where it was and it was right
- 24:23Speaker 1: up under his pad. Referee blows the whistle. Maddy Vineer's
- 24:27Speaker 1: a two on one with Everly.
- 24:29Speaker 11: Well the Kracken didn't score in the play, but certainly
- 24:31Speaker 11: taking advice to Hart as Matty Veneer's looking over. But
- 24:34Speaker 11: eventually the shot lane was there, no hesitation and nearly
- 24:38Speaker 11: snuck one right by Anton Forrestburg, who would get enough
- 24:41Speaker 11: of the puck to cover that up and keep the
- 24:44Speaker 11: game at nothing. Nothing but certainly the Krakens showing commitment
- 24:48Speaker 11: to shot volume. Then to period three, big moment right
- 24:51Speaker 11: here for Joey to.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Cord Coopepatar left side looked in front our mea on goal.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Big save by the Cord who went down and got

- 25:41Speaker 19: It was Anton Lundell there to jam it in and
- 25:44Speaker 19: the Panthers have a four to three lead with fifty
- 25:47Speaker 19: point eight seconds left in the third. That was whipped
- 25:50Speaker 19: out in front from a sharp angle and Londell was

- 30:51Speaker 5: In the play of Vince tonight, want to keep the
- 30:53Speaker 5: puck in the zone there leading to the tie goal
- 30:56Speaker 5: and kind of just obviously the winner for you guys,
- 30:59Speaker 5: would you kind of make it his effort.
- 31:00Speaker 2: For you tonight?
- 31:01Speaker 5: And some of those key plays he made well.
- 31:03Speaker 22: I mean, he, like you said, he made some key
- 31:05Speaker 22: plays and you know, obviously he you know, he factored
- 31:08Speaker 22: in offensively big time. But aside from that, I thought
- 31:11Speaker 22: he was really good. I thought his gaps were great.
- 31:13Speaker 22: I thought his defensive play was great. Then I thought
- 31:16Speaker 22: he moved bucks. I thought that he had a lot
- 31:18Speaker 22: of composure to night, he shook off pressure and checks,
- 31:22Speaker 22: and I thought he played a very good game.
- 31:28Speaker 23: Coach, not all victories are created equal. Given what your
- 31:32Speaker 23: team has gone through. Taking the macro view, how much
- 31:38Speaker 23: did it mean to your team and to you to
- 31:41Speaker 23: get rewarded and come out with a W.
- 31:44Speaker 22: Well, I think, you know, like like we said, we've
- 31:47Speaker 22: you know, we've talked about the fact that we have
- 31:49Speaker 22: played well and you know, for whatever reason, whether it
- 31:54Speaker 22: be a mistake here, a mistake there, we haven't been
- 31:57Speaker 22: rewarded for it. So for me. It's it's huge. It's
- 32:00Speaker 22: huge for the guys to get rewarded for it, you know,
- 32:03Speaker 22: and you know, we'll enjoy this tonight and then we'll
- 32:06Speaker 22: move on tomorrow and head to Utah.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Uh the play in the second period where it was
- 32:11Speaker 4: kind of bunched up around the net, looked like the
- 32:13Speaker 4: puck went in but maybe after the whistle.
- 32:15Speaker 1: I don't know. They didn't make an announcement for us.
- 32:17Speaker 1: But what was the explanation given to you on that one?
- 32:19Speaker 22: Yeah, well, the explanation is is that, you know, he
- 32:22Speaker 22: blew the He blew the whistle before the puck went
- 32:26Speaker 22: in the net, and he had lost sight of it.
- 32:29Speaker 22: He tried to in his mind, he tried to hold
- 32:32Speaker 22: off as long as he could from blowing the whistle.
- 32:35Speaker 1: You know.
- 32:36Speaker 22: So that was the explanation. And you know, it was
- 32:39Speaker 22: one of those real time plays. They're doing the best
- 32:42Speaker 22: they can, and you know, it was unfortunate that it
- 32:45Speaker 22: went that way for us. But again, you know, I
- 32:48Speaker 22: thought throughout some of that adversity, and we've had adversity
- 32:52Speaker 22: here over the past couple of weeks, I thought our
- 32:54Speaker 22: guys did a really good job, especially coming after you know,
- 32:57Speaker 22: coming out after that second goal going down again and
- 33:00Speaker 22: and you know, finding a way to tie the game
- 33:02Speaker 22: and then win it.
- 33:08Speaker 5: Lan, would you think of just the power play in
- 33:10Speaker 5: general toon No, obviously scored on a couple of times,
- 33:12Speaker 5: but you do have the one break against you again,
- 33:14Speaker 5: just kind of collectively, what you thought about the way
- 33:16Speaker 5: you guys were moving, at the chances you were getting
- 33:18Speaker 5: and the one going.
- 33:20Speaker 22: Yeah, I thought the power play, I mean, the power
- 33:22Speaker 22: play was outstanding.
- 33:24Speaker 1: You know.
- 33:24Speaker 22: We Yes, we did have the one breakdown and unfortunately
- 33:29Speaker 22: it was what it was, but you know, it did
- 33:33Speaker 22: what it has to do. It did what it needed
- 33:35Speaker 22: to do. And you know, we've talked about our power
- 33:38Speaker 22: play here over the last couple of weeks. You know,
- 33:41Speaker 22: whether you go back to you know, the end of
- 33:43Speaker 22: Edmonton game here where we had twelve shots on goal
- 33:46Speaker 22: with the power play, you know, we kept saying we're
- 33:48Speaker 22: generating chances, we're doing good things. That's a high pressure
- 33:51Speaker 22: penalty kill over there from La They've got a lot
- 33:53Speaker 22: of experience, there's a lot of I guess, long bodies
- 33:57Speaker 22: and you know there's not much space out there, and
- 33:59Speaker 22: I thought our guys really good job of I won't
- 34:01Speaker 22: say exploiting it, but certainly, you know, doing what they
- 34:05Speaker 22: needed to do in order to give ourselves a chance
- 34:07Speaker 22: to have success.
- 34:10Speaker 11: Indeed, the Crack and power play doing what they had
- 34:12Speaker 11: to do, and overall they did what they had to
- 34:15Speaker 11: do tonight, getting a six attacker goal for Matty Benier's
- 34:18Speaker 11: layton period three and the bench done power play goal
- 34:21Speaker 11: to win it one of three on the night the

- 39:01Speaker 11: a game to give a team new life a cracking
- 39:03Speaker 11: out of an OZ five and one skid. They beat
- 39:06Speaker 11: the Los Angeles Kings in dramatic fashion three to two
- 39:09Speaker 11: in sudden death overtime. Let's talk about of friends right now.
- 39:12Speaker 11: Glad you're with us, Mike Betting again with you for

- 39:18Speaker 11: now on the KJR text line again four nine four
- 39:21Speaker 11: five one, and tell us on a scale of one
- 39:24Speaker 11: to ten, how big was this win for the cracking tonight?
- 39:27Speaker 11: And why four nine four five one. We've already got
- 39:31Speaker 11: text rolling in as well. Curtis Krabtree, by the way,
- 39:34Speaker 11: joining us in a bit from Fox thirteen. He'll be
- 39:36Speaker 11: with us here in just a bit to break this
- 39:38Speaker 11: one down as he is just emerging here from the
- 39:42Speaker 11: media scrums with Lane Lambert, et cetera, et cetera. Well,
- 39:46Speaker 11: let's just jump into the conversation right now, folks, because
- 39:49Speaker 11: I think my initial thoughts on this. You know, you
- 39:51Speaker 11: go into the final minutes of period three down by
- 39:55Speaker 11: one goal, and you're thinking of what hindered this team
- 39:59Speaker 11: from being at the the best and it was gonna
- 40:01Speaker 11: be quite the disappointment here from the Special Team's part
- 40:05Speaker 11: of this, because they were looking better, but for the
- 40:08Speaker 11: amount of times that they have been held to one goal,
- 40:11Speaker 11: two goals, no goals. Every little error is basically kind
- 40:16Speaker 11: of riding the line between winning and losing for a
- 40:19Speaker 11: team like this that is built to win games at
- 40:21Speaker 11: three to two or two to one. Just go ahead
- 40:23Speaker 11: and look at the final score here, but ultimately in
- 40:26Speaker 11: that last minute when you lose your leading score in
- 40:29Speaker 11: Jared McCann and he had to be helped out toward
- 40:32Speaker 11: the tunnel and it was an ominous look. And of
- 40:33Speaker 11: course Lane Lambert telling us earlier that there is no
- 40:36Speaker 11: update right now, so it's kind of holds your breath
- 40:38Speaker 11: right now because the crackun travel tomorrow and then play
- 40:41Speaker 11: in Utah Friday. You're looking for anybody for leadership. Guess
- 40:45Speaker 11: who steps forward? Maddy Benier's guess Howie step forward by
- 40:49Speaker 11: going right toward the front of the net. Meat and potatoes.
- 40:53Speaker 11: That defines the Cracking brand when they are at their best.
- 40:57Speaker 11: It's not flashy, but it's got plenty of substance. That's
- 41:01Speaker 11: where it gets done here for Matt Eveniers and crew
- 41:04Speaker 11: to get this game tied up as well, and then
- 41:06Speaker 11: Jared mccannon after he was gone, the Crack is still
- 41:10Speaker 11: finding a way on the power play setting up Ben's
- 41:12Speaker 11: Done for the one time blast one twenty one into
- 41:16Speaker 11: ot once again. Done's now at two hundred points for
- 41:19Speaker 11: his Cracking career off a three point night. The three
- 41:22Speaker 11: power play goals were most by the Kraken for one
- 41:24Speaker 11: game here for this season, as they get goals each
- 41:27Speaker 11: from mccam, Beniers and Done answering for the Kings Alex
- 41:31Speaker 11: Leferrier and Kevin Fiola. So there's one thing to talk
- 41:35Speaker 11: about leadership and how much that paid off here for
- 41:38Speaker 11: this team this evening. Secondly, in special teams and this
- 41:41Speaker 11: is part of where it enters the conversation when you
- 41:43Speaker 11: come back and win, because the power play had to
- 41:46Speaker 11: get things figured out. They were in a recent skied,
- 41:49Speaker 11: just like this team overall. Also like the penalty killed,
- 41:52Speaker 11: but this evening they come through three of seven on
- 41:55Speaker 11: the man advantage, and you go back and think of
- 41:57Speaker 11: the Jared McCann goal, how much the puck got moving,
- 42:00Speaker 11: how much they found the right play to set up
- 42:03Speaker 11: McCann When you had Anton Forrestburke moving the King's penalty
- 42:07Speaker 11: kill structure out of sorts. That's the kind of killer
- 42:10Speaker 11: instinct that you're looking for on the power play before
- 42:13Speaker 11: you get the Benier's six attacker goal and then done
- 42:16Speaker 11: converting in plenty of open ice. And finally here for
- 42:19Speaker 11: Joey Decor, this was a massive bounce back game. He
- 42:23Speaker 11: was going through a tough one back from injury. But
- 42:26Speaker 11: twenty four saves on twenty six shots, it didn't look
- 42:29Speaker 11: like that he was out of sorts, out of kilter
- 42:31Speaker 11: at all, and why not here to come right back
- 42:34Speaker 11: with a winning effort in this three to two overtime win.
- 42:36Speaker 11: Curtis Crabtree joining us here from Fox thirteen now for
- 42:39Speaker 11: a talking cracking and Curtis, I just I'll just kind
- 42:42Speaker 11: of rehash some opening thoughts here. It's kind of wild
- 42:45Speaker 11: how a game tying goal that lay can really blow
- 42:48Speaker 11: the whole narrative up, and it did so. Where it
- 42:50Speaker 11: went from what happened to make this margin of airs
- 42:55Speaker 11: so thin? And you go back and think of the
- 42:57Speaker 11: shorthanded goal that they gave up to Alex la Ferrier.
- 43:00Speaker 11: But they go three or seven on the power play,
- 43:03Speaker 11: and the game totally changes where it's refreshing in that
- 43:06Speaker 11: you don't have to find a primary source of offense
- 43:09Speaker 11: aside from Jared McCann well.
- 43:11Speaker 5: I mean the power play opportunities. They had plenty of
- 43:14Speaker 5: them tonight, and that certainly helped get them to generate offense.
- 43:17Speaker 5: I know once that I was looking up before the
- 43:19Speaker 5: game ended, when they were still stuck on one goal,
- 43:22Speaker 5: was you know I was gonna you know, the narrative
- 43:24Speaker 5: for me was gonna be. Look, hockey is a goal
- 43:26Speaker 5: scoring contest, no dub, right, But you know there's one
- 43:30Speaker 5: three hundred twelve games played in a hockey season. How
- 43:33Speaker 5: many games last year do you think we're won by
- 43:35Speaker 5: a one nothing margin? How many take a guess out
- 43:39Speaker 5: of one three hundred and twelve.
- 43:42Speaker 11: I'm trying to I'll go with the seventy percent rule,
- 43:45Speaker 11: so about seven hundred.
- 43:47Speaker 5: Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, like score the final score
- 43:49Speaker 5: line being one zero.
- 43:50Speaker 11: One zero. All right, Well then that I was thinking
- 43:52Speaker 11: of just a one goal variety, so one nothing. I'm
- 43:56Speaker 11: going to say about twenty percent.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Oh no, way, no way lower.
- 43:59Speaker 11: Eighteen eighteen total games total in the.
- 44:02Speaker 5: Twenty four to twenty five season were won by a
- 44:05Speaker 5: one score, one zero score line.
- 44:07Speaker 11: So guess what you need to score more than one games?
- 44:10Speaker 5: Right? Ultimately, and their offense has been struggling, and so
- 44:15Speaker 5: for them to come through with two goals there late
- 44:19Speaker 5: obviously gets them a much needed victory to knock off
- 44:22Speaker 5: their their six game losing streak, a couple of power
- 44:26Speaker 5: play tallies which they've been struggling at for a while.
- 44:29Speaker 5: Obviously getting a little bit better here recently, some better
- 44:32Speaker 5: opportunities lately, but yeah, it's just you know, you go
- 44:35Speaker 5: from potentially losing a game to one where you give
- 44:38Speaker 5: up a four minute double minor late on a high
- 44:41Speaker 5: stick to Corey Perry, allowing them to get the go
- 44:43Speaker 5: ahead goal. It reminds me of a couple games they've
- 44:45Speaker 5: lost like that. Late in the lost five six minutes
- 44:47Speaker 5: of the game, the go ahead goals happen. They haven't
- 44:49Speaker 5: been in the period of mistakes basically.
- 44:50Speaker 11: I mean it was one where you take a high
- 44:53Speaker 11: stick on Perry and then you go back to Stay
- 44:55Speaker 11: Detroit where a team that doesn't give up a lot
- 44:58Speaker 11: off the rush gave one to the wrong guy and
- 45:01Speaker 11: Patrick King he scores with inside three minutes left.
- 45:03Speaker 5: Yeah, and what was the Minnesota game scenario to markus
- 45:06Speaker 5: Shawnson right like scored the go ahead the third period goal.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:09Speaker 5: So, like you know, several kind of goals games kind
- 45:12Speaker 5: of going similarly, where when you're playing this low scoring
- 45:15Speaker 5: a game for a team that struggles to generate goals overall,
- 45:21Speaker 5: you're gonna be in these like razor thin margin kind
- 45:25Speaker 5: of games where it's gonna go one way or the other.
- 45:27Speaker 5: And you know, after losing the luck draw with the
- 45:30Speaker 5: late penalty going against Ryker Evans, you get the unfortunate
- 45:33Speaker 5: penalty and injury to Jared McCann from Anton Forstburg. They're
- 45:37Speaker 5: giving you the late power play chance to score the
- 45:40Speaker 5: tire and then another penalty in overtime from Adrian Kempion
- 45:44Speaker 5: to set up the winner. So it also helped obviously
- 45:48Speaker 5: that the Kings took a lot of penalties tonight.
- 45:50Speaker 11: Not all of them are very good ones. I mean,
- 45:52Speaker 11: if you're a Jim Hill or you have a smoke
- 45:54Speaker 11: coming out of your ears. Just based on the penalties
- 45:57Speaker 11: that they took and also the timing of it, it
- 46:00Speaker 11: was brutal. But if you're the Kraken, you've got to
- 46:02Speaker 11: find a way to capitalize on those, and they did.
- 46:04Speaker 5: Yeah. I mean, Forrestburg gets caught behind the goal trying
- 46:07Speaker 5: to play a puck Brandon I think with Brandon Montor
- 46:10Speaker 5: just fired it towards goal while he's caught behind there,
- 46:12Speaker 5: and so he's scrambling to the back of the to
- 46:14Speaker 5: the front of the net and why you know, wipes
- 46:17Speaker 5: out Jared mccannon's leg from behind and leads to his
- 46:19Speaker 5: injury there. Unfortunate for Jared on that front, But that's
- 46:23Speaker 5: a penalty, Like, you know, you don't want your goaltender
- 46:26Speaker 5: in a situation like that, we're out of a goal,
- 46:28Speaker 5: trying to protect the lead with the other empty, the
- 46:30Speaker 5: other net empty at the other end. That wasn't a
- 46:33Speaker 5: good one. I kind of get when the one and
- 46:34Speaker 5: overtime happens because Maddy was in free and clear on
- 46:38Speaker 5: on on anton Forstburg there and totally get why kemp
- 46:42Speaker 5: Ba was like, we got I gotta, I gotta take
- 46:45Speaker 5: the penalty here. But a four on three in overtime
- 46:48Speaker 5: is almost that feels like that's like gotta be almost
- 46:51Speaker 5: like a sixties five percent, Like you're just done on
- 46:54Speaker 5: the spot if you take that overtime penalty. So and
- 46:58Speaker 5: it it ended very quickly after the one that they
- 47:01Speaker 5: took tonight.
- 47:01Speaker 11: Four nine four or five one Texas here on the
- 47:03Speaker 11: KJR tex line, Mike and Curtis with be able to
- 47:06Speaker 11: get to your reaction coming up in just a bit.
- 47:08Speaker 11: I want to get to Matty Beniers here because this
- 47:11Speaker 11: has been an emerging topic of what exactly are the
- 47:15Speaker 11: expectations out of him and how far has he come along?
- 47:19Speaker 11: Now let's go back and reset all of this. I mean,
- 47:22Speaker 11: I mean back in twenty twenty one second overall pick
- 47:26Speaker 11: won the cald room, we're thinking, WHOA like this is
- 47:29Speaker 11: just a beginning here of what maybe he can do
- 47:32Speaker 11: offensively well. He had a tough season very next year,
- 47:36Speaker 11: very tough season as well, but he began to show
- 47:38Speaker 11: signs of it last year, maybe emerging out of it.
- 47:41Speaker 11: And now I mean he's on pace for his second
- 47:45Speaker 11: best season offensively, where you're hitting the fifty point mark. Now,
- 47:49Speaker 11: I mean I think you're looking for a little bit
- 47:50Speaker 11: more than five goals in twenty eight games, obviously, but
- 47:53Speaker 11: I mean the Matty Beniers game is offensive, but it
- 47:58Speaker 11: is also a two hundred foot game with his defense,
- 48:01Speaker 11: can you win face offs, can you go to the
- 48:03Speaker 11: front of the net, can you battle? And for a
- 48:06Speaker 11: guy who hadn't scored in five games here, that was
- 48:09Speaker 11: the kind of goal that not just the kracket needed,
- 48:12Speaker 11: but that was I think a market leadership.
- 48:14Speaker 5: It's I mean, you want your your top line center
- 48:19Speaker 5: to probably produce a little bit more over the long haul.
- 48:23Speaker 5: But I think we know the kind of player Matti
- 48:25Speaker 5: Vaniers is.
- 48:26Speaker 4: Now.
- 48:26Speaker 5: If he's a twenty goal, sixty plus point center, I
- 48:31Speaker 5: think you feel pretty good about that because he has
- 48:33Speaker 5: such an asset for them on the tap and.
- 48:35Speaker 11: You're writing, but trace Persn's territory there and that's this
- 48:37Speaker 11: guy growing up.
- 48:38Speaker 5: Well, yeah, I mean I don't I don't think he's
- 48:40Speaker 5: Patrice Bergeran. I don't think he's gonna get close to that.
- 48:42Speaker 11: He's not one.
- 48:43Speaker 5: He's not good in the face off dot like person
- 48:45Speaker 5: was either. But like, if you can get somewhere into
- 48:47Speaker 5: that realm, you can live with that being your, you know,
- 48:50Speaker 5: a very good part of your team. I think you know,
- 48:53Speaker 5: everybody realizes that this team still needs its elite front
- 48:56Speaker 5: line offensive player. You know, they don't have the mcdavi,
- 49:00Speaker 5: they don't have the McKinnon. They don't have those type
- 49:02Speaker 5: of pieces on their front line. And I don't think
- 49:05Speaker 5: we're on earning any delusion that Maddy Bineers is gonna
- 49:07Speaker 5: develop into that at this point in his career. But
- 49:10Speaker 5: that doesn't mean he's not a valuable piece of a
- 49:12Speaker 5: hockey team that can help you. And certainly the goal
- 49:15Speaker 5: he scored there at the end was very nice. Big
- 49:17Speaker 5: credit to Vince Done to keep that puck in the
- 49:20Speaker 5: offensive zone as they're trying to clear it around the boards.
- 49:23Speaker 5: That play doesn't happen if Done doesn't keep the puck
- 49:25Speaker 5: in at the top of the zone. It feeds it
- 49:27Speaker 5: back down to Ellie tolven In and that sets up
- 49:28Speaker 5: the game winner there on the path to the slot
- 49:30Speaker 5: from the wing. So man, he was in the right
- 49:34Speaker 5: place at the right time to get that puck over
- 49:36Speaker 5: a Fordsburg shoulder and that allows the game to go
- 49:38Speaker 5: over time and they're able to go in it on
- 49:39Speaker 5: another play where he's driving the in front to draw
- 49:42Speaker 5: the penalty from Campa and it forces the ensuing power play.
- 49:46Speaker 11: Well, we have more reaction coming in here. We're gonna
- 49:47Speaker 11: take a brief break and Mike, myself and Curtis will
- 49:50Speaker 11: get some more of your reaction in just a bit
- 49:52Speaker 11: again four nine four or five to one on the
- 49:54Speaker 11: kJ R text line is a power play gets three
- 49:56Speaker 11: goals tonight and the crack and courtesy Jared mccannon, we
- 50:00Speaker 11: did have to leave the game late in the third
- 50:01Speaker 11: period with that injury slew footed by Goltender Anton Forstburg
- 50:06Speaker 11: Matty Beniirs also with him Bence Dunn get the goals
- 50:08Speaker 11: scoring here for tonight and the and the krack and
- 50:11Speaker 11: beat the Kings three to two in sudden death overtime.
- 50:14Speaker 11: Your reaction plus more on talking Cracking after this on
- 50:17Speaker 11: ninety three to three KJRFM.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Now back to duck in Kracking with Mike Minton on
- 50:24Speaker 2: your Home of a Krack in Sports Radio Letty three
- 50:27Speaker 2: point three kJ r.
- 50:29Speaker 11: FM Party continues here at Tom's Watch Bar Krack and
- 50:32Speaker 11: knock off the Kings three two and sudden death overtime.
- 50:35Speaker 11: Mike Benton with you, Curtis Crabtree along with me here
- 50:38Speaker 11: from Fox thirteen and again four nine, four to five
- 50:40Speaker 11: to one on the KJR text line, hit us up
- 50:42Speaker 11: right now for your reaction again four nine, four five
- 50:45Speaker 11: one The Crack and breaking out of an zero five
- 50:47Speaker 11: and one skid. They beat the Los Angeles Kings three
- 50:51Speaker 11: to two in sudden death overtime, and based on a
- 50:54Speaker 11: few developments here tonight in the NHL a light night
- 50:57Speaker 11: on the scoreboard, it's still meant a lot to try
- 51:00Speaker 11: to keep pace here in the Western Conference, the Crack
- 51:02Speaker 11: and now two points back at the cut line. Chicago
- 51:05Speaker 11: won earlier today, so they are side with Edmonton for
- 51:08Speaker 11: the two wildcard spots. Thirty two points the Crack and
- 51:12Speaker 11: half thirty. Utah beat by Florida on a late third
- 51:15Speaker 11: period goal that was huge the Crack and now trail
- 51:18Speaker 11: Utah and San Jose by one point as well. So
- 51:22Speaker 11: the Crack is still trying to climb out of a hole,
- 51:24Speaker 11: but they are showing signs of life right now, especially
- 51:28Speaker 11: for the Special Team side of matters here for tonight
- 51:31Speaker 11: four nine, four or five one. Let's dive in right
- 51:33Speaker 11: now again to your reaction, and we get one first
- 51:36Speaker 11: off here from the four to two five, saying losing
- 51:38Speaker 11: Jere McCann again kind of makes this win feel like
- 51:41Speaker 11: maybe a bit of a loss. And when you talk
- 51:44Speaker 11: about some deficiencies on the roster, you're missing a big star.
- 51:48Speaker 11: Can you find that big goal score here to carry
- 51:51Speaker 11: the mail The guys are there, not superstars, but not
- 51:54Speaker 11: rising up earlier or easier as well. Now from the
- 51:58Speaker 11: four to two five, j mc can's going to be
- 52:00Speaker 11: I think a TBD all the way here into Friday.
- 52:03Speaker 11: The krack and won't practice tomorrow. They'll travel to Utah
- 52:07Speaker 11: and then that game against the Mammoth coming up as well.
- 52:10Speaker 11: So depending upon McCann, if he's in or if he's
- 52:14Speaker 11: not in, it doesn't change so much away you play,
- 52:17Speaker 11: but that does certainly staying for your five on five
- 52:20Speaker 11: in for the power play as well.
- 52:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, look, we're talking about how this team
- 52:22Speaker 5: struggling to score, and he's one of the guys with
- 52:25Speaker 5: the most dangerous shots that they have on offense. He's
- 52:28Speaker 5: not the most all around offensive guy, but like that
- 52:32Speaker 5: shot is a dangerous weapon. He saw that on the
- 52:34Speaker 5: opening goal that they had tonight on his power play
- 52:37Speaker 5: taally that that's a weapon that they are, you know,
- 52:41Speaker 5: lacked for a good chunk of time over the last
- 52:44Speaker 5: couple of seasons when he's been hurt.
- 52:46Speaker 11: It didn't look good in the moment.
- 52:48Speaker 5: You hope that the fact he was able to skate
- 52:50Speaker 5: off on his own is a positive sign that it's
- 52:52Speaker 5: able to you know that it's not going to be
- 52:54Speaker 5: too bad for him, But we'll have to see, because
- 52:56Speaker 5: I didn't it didn't seem like Jaden Schwartz's injury looked
- 52:59Speaker 5: like it was all that bad in the moment, and
- 53:01Speaker 5: he's obviously going to be out of stretch here too,
- 53:03Speaker 5: so we'll need to see what that is. No update
- 53:07Speaker 5: from lame Leymbert after the game.
- 53:08Speaker 11: By Capton's also week to week, but he's like great
- 53:11Speaker 11: as well too.
- 53:11Speaker 5: Yeah, so you know they're they're down some offensive ceiling. Yeah,
- 53:17Speaker 5: particularly McCann's back on the shelf. So was an ideal
- 53:21Speaker 5: for them to get the the chance to tie this
- 53:23Speaker 5: one and win it because of an injuryment to McCann
- 53:27Speaker 5: just kind of one of those things that happens forst
- 53:29Speaker 5: Work's not trying to take out is like there, he's
- 53:31Speaker 5: just trying to get back from the goal. So just
- 53:33Speaker 5: unfortunately fortunate that he happened to just catch his leg
- 53:35Speaker 5: and pull it out from underneath him and goes down
- 53:37Speaker 5: awkwardly and.
- 53:38Speaker 11: All that because we're seeing a lot of injuries, you know,
- 53:40Speaker 11: creep up now in the league, and you can kind
- 53:42Speaker 11: of blame that on the Olympics scheduling here, but that's
- 53:44Speaker 11: not so much of a tegue injury. It was just
- 53:46Speaker 11: more of wrong place, wrong time, Yeah, exactly Again for
- 53:49Speaker 11: the four to two five, this reaction here saying this
- 53:52Speaker 11: win was a ten out of ten and of course
- 53:55Speaker 11: a ten front and center of Matty Benier's huge goal
- 53:58Speaker 11: and then drawing the penalty to so up the winner.
- 54:00Speaker 11: A shout out to Matty Beniers from Jeff in the
- 54:03Speaker 11: four to two five seven O eight saying confidence inspiring win,
- 54:07Speaker 11: hoping some positive momentum goes into the next game that
- 54:11Speaker 11: from the seven eights we get one here also from
- 54:14Speaker 11: the seven oh wait elsewhere saying power play goals are nice,
- 54:17Speaker 11: but still struggling for offense right now. At five on five,
- 54:21Speaker 11: Curtis Here's one thing that sticks out to me in
- 54:23Speaker 11: that this is the fourth rate game I want to
- 54:25Speaker 11: say where the Kraken have led in shot attempts and
- 54:28Speaker 11: they've all been in this same ballpark tonight, seventy one
- 54:31Speaker 11: to fifty nine over the Kings high danger chances. Kings
- 54:36Speaker 11: had the edge fifteen to twelve. Now that being said,
- 54:39Speaker 11: the Kraken did so well looking for good looks at
- 54:42Speaker 11: the front of the net, but again there are a
- 54:44Speaker 11: few plays where they they're again fighting an uphill battle
- 54:48Speaker 11: trying to finish.
- 54:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean every goal in the game came on
- 54:51Speaker 5: the power play in some former fashion, even the shorthanded
- 54:54Speaker 5: one for the Kings there, so like there was no
- 54:55Speaker 5: five on five offense tonight from either side. They had
- 55:00Speaker 5: some good looks that just didn't cash in. Like I know,
- 55:03Speaker 5: even for the Kings, Joelle or Meia had a couple
- 55:05Speaker 5: of really good chances to think. I think that was
- 55:07Speaker 5: on one of their power plays, to be fair. But
- 55:10Speaker 5: you know, Matty Benier's had a good look that I remember,
- 55:12Speaker 5: Elie Tolbinen had a good look late in the game.
- 55:16Speaker 5: They had some decent looking opportunities there. But so much
- 55:19Speaker 5: of this game was played on special teams tonight. With
- 55:22Speaker 5: as many penalties as there were in this game, it's
- 55:24Speaker 5: a little bit tough to get an entire read on
- 55:26Speaker 5: the five on five play because there were so many
- 55:28Speaker 5: mixed and match kind of circumstances coming in and out
- 55:31Speaker 5: of penalty kills, power plays, all those sorts of things,
- 55:33Speaker 5: line mixing because of that and all. So it's a
- 55:36Speaker 5: bit of a strange game on that front. But it
- 55:38Speaker 5: was a game that I think that if it wasn't
- 55:40Speaker 5: coming on the back end of a six game losing streak,
- 55:42Speaker 5: you know, I think it felt like a pretty normal,
- 55:44Speaker 5: solid game all around for them. You're just given where
- 55:47Speaker 5: they were kind of at it, it was still would
- 55:49Speaker 5: have felt like a pretty big dut if they hadn't
- 55:50Speaker 5: found those two goals late to steal this one.
- 55:52Speaker 11: Reaction here from x Rick saying that it could have
- 55:55Speaker 11: been a nine. It's a seven for him because it
- 55:57Speaker 11: feels like McCann could be out for a while. We'll
- 56:00Speaker 11: have to wait and see on that one. We get
- 56:01Speaker 11: one here as well from a dac Crack saying on
- 56:04Speaker 11: a scale of one to ten, feels like a twenty
- 56:06Speaker 11: nine and they needed to win so badly. Here hoping
- 56:09Speaker 11: that it brings confidence to back up a little bit here,
- 56:11Speaker 11: and you got to win this next game coming up
- 56:13Speaker 11: here with Utah with you.
- 56:15Speaker 5: You just couldn't afford to keep sliding, like letting things
- 56:19Speaker 5: get further and further up.
- 56:20Speaker 11: We've heard over and over like if you lose a
- 56:22Speaker 11: bunch of games, you drop out of this race in
- 56:24Speaker 11: a hurry.
- 56:24Speaker 5: Yeah, And I mean they went from what firmly second
- 56:27Speaker 5: third place straddling that line in the Pacific to quickly
- 56:30Speaker 5: out of it because it's just back closely bunched. You know,
- 56:34Speaker 5: outside of the bottom couple teams in the conference, it's
- 56:37Speaker 5: a very very tight kind of race, and the East
- 56:39Speaker 5: was even tighter somehow, So you just couldn't afford to
- 56:44Speaker 5: keep backsliding any longer.
- 56:46Speaker 11: You needed to get a couple more points on the
- 56:48Speaker 11: board before we have to duck out. And friends, again,
- 56:51Speaker 11: really appreciate your reaction. Four nine, four or five one
- 56:54Speaker 11: heroes always in the kJ R text line, you have
- 56:57Speaker 11: Joey to Cord and the bounce back game. Philip grew
- 57:00Speaker 11: despite the loss, only two got by him in the
- 57:02Speaker 11: Minnesota game, and they tacked on two empty net goals,
- 57:06Speaker 11: and you're playing right now in a stretch of a
- 57:08Speaker 11: lot of hockey, eleven games in twenty days, UTAs coming
- 57:12Speaker 11: up on Friday, Buffalo Back, You're on Sunday, the ten
- 57:15Speaker 11: thousand ton wagon that is a Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday,
- 57:19Speaker 11: and then Calgary San Jose and then three and four
- 57:22Speaker 11: before the holiday break in the Ducks and the Kings.
- 57:25Speaker 11: But decord and grew Bauer. How much does this maybe
- 57:28Speaker 11: change the game of how much you spread your goaltending
- 57:30Speaker 11: out now next couple of.
- 57:31Speaker 5: Weeks, I felt like a full credit to Philip Grubauer.
- 57:35Speaker 5: He has played way better this season than he did
- 57:37Speaker 5: a year ago. He's done the last couple of years.
- 57:39Speaker 5: To be fair, he's looked and it's not only that
- 57:42Speaker 5: the saves have been there. It looks better like he's
- 57:45Speaker 5: being in position more and he's put himself in a
- 57:49Speaker 5: position where I think it might have been. Maybe it
- 57:51Speaker 5: was the Detroit game after you know what was he
- 57:56Speaker 5: was he the one and goal when they lost four zero,
- 57:58Speaker 5: and then Joey got the one up there reversed, I
- 58:00Speaker 5: think regardless, Joey started that game at Edmonton and Gruenbauer
- 58:04Speaker 5: came after. I thought I would think I would have
- 58:06Speaker 5: given Joey the night off for the Detroit game. They
- 58:08Speaker 5: didn't he went back in there. They lost that one
- 58:10Speaker 5: as well. I think he Grubauer has played well enough
- 58:13Speaker 5: where he deserves some more more starts.
- 58:16Speaker 11: I will see who gets.
- 58:17Speaker 5: I was just gonna say to follow that up, who
- 58:20Speaker 5: do you want to start the Colorado game on Tuesday?
- 58:23Speaker 11: Probably Joey right, probably, but again, Philip Grubauer loves facing
- 58:26Speaker 11: the Avalanche.
- 58:27Speaker 5: That's the other part of it. So like it depends
- 58:30Speaker 5: on if you want to give a nod to the
- 58:31Speaker 5: fact that he's the former Colorado guy playing them or whatever.
- 58:34Speaker 5: Let's say, if you want it to be Joey starting
- 58:36Speaker 5: that game. Whoever you want to start the Colorado game,
- 58:38Speaker 5: I think it starts the next game in Utah because
- 58:40Speaker 5: then you give the other guy the Buffalo game on
- 58:42Speaker 5: Sunday and then go to a fresh, fresh goalie for
- 58:45Speaker 5: the Colorado game.
- 58:45Speaker 11: Well, despite Utah losing the saving still a very solid team,
- 58:48Speaker 11: but also trying to sustain a big loss in Logan
- 58:51Speaker 11: Coolly out of a leg injury and out in definitely.
- 58:54Speaker 11: They lost for three to Florida tonight, first of three
- 58:58Speaker 11: meetings coming up Friday, which will also be a part
- 59:00Speaker 11: of the Dads and Mentor's trip and the Crack and
- 59:03Speaker 11: looking to string back to back wins now and get
- 59:06Speaker 11: their first ever victory at Delta Center. All right, friends,
- 59:09Speaker 11: that we'll do it all the time. We have appreciate
- 59:12Speaker 11: you once again. Our thanks here as well to Curtis
- 59:14Speaker 11: Crabtree for joining us. Also Travis Mulger backing studio, our
- 59:17Speaker 11: technical director. Also Terry Ryan Oer on site engineer that
- 59:21Speaker 11: will do it for here, Join us right back here,
- 59:23Speaker 11: same place, Tom's watch Bar Friday for the Kraken and
- 59:26Speaker 11: Utah on air five thirty pup drops at six for
- 59:30Speaker 11: Al Kadisky as well, and everet fits you. This is
- 59:32Speaker 11: Mike Benton saying good night from Clem Pledge Arena and
- 59:35Speaker 11: Tom's Watch Bar and thank you for joining us. Your
- 59:37Speaker 11: final score once again in sudden death overtime cracking three
- 59:41Speaker 11: Kings two. This is Talking Kraken on ninety three to
- 59:44Speaker 11: three KJRFM.
