- 0:31Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. I've never seen a guy take a knee
- 0:36Speaker 1: and lose the ball. I've seen you guys fumble on draws. Well,
- 0:38Speaker 1: I did see somebody take a knee this year and losing.
- 0:40Speaker 1: He didn't take a knee, he fumbled a snap. Well, yeah,
- 0:42Speaker 1: but snap the ball to take the knee. Do you
- 0:44Speaker 1: have to snap the ball to pay anyway? I can't
- 0:46Speaker 1: eliminate the snap from the equation. I can eliminate exactly.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Don't even put them all in play. I don't even
- 0:52Speaker 1: want you looking at the ball. Even you don't go
- 0:54Speaker 1: on the bathroom. We were all drinking hot chocolate, and
- 0:56Speaker 1: I was probably like twelve or thirteen, might have in
- 0:59Speaker 1: that my uncle, who was hammered, handing me the schnop's
- 1:03Speaker 1: hot chocolate. I was still too young at that point
- 1:06Speaker 1: to even want to do that. I was a wee.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Maybe someone lost the situation. I think you said it
- 1:10Speaker 1: to me when we were walking out and the show.
- 1:13Speaker 1: They were tied. I know, I know, and I said
- 1:15Speaker 1: to you to think that they thought they would. I
- 1:17Speaker 1: kind of heard some rumblings of this too, not a lot,
- 1:19Speaker 1: because everybody's so pissed off. No one's really looking at
- 1:21Speaker 1: the bright side. That's stiff arming Mac Jones and then
- 1:24Speaker 1: just ramp rumbling into the end zone. It looked like
- 1:26Speaker 1: a tight end. Yeah, yeah, Max, gotta make that tackle.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Let's go down to Andrew. This is Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled
- 1:33Speaker 1: by Dunking. All right, Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is
- 1:38Speaker 1: Wednesday here at Gillette Stadium, and we're awaiting Bill Belichick's
- 1:43Speaker 1: live press conference. So we're gonna go to that live
- 1:45Speaker 1: when it happens. I hear he's got a major announcement.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I'm only kids, we're hearing. I'm only kidding, but we
- 1:52Speaker 1: do want to hear what he has to say. It's
- 1:54Speaker 1: a pivotal week. I was signist yeah HC of the INDEPA.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I mean, we're interested to see which direction this team
- 2:00Speaker 1: goes after that brutal loss. Um, you know, do they
- 2:04Speaker 1: go up from there or do they spiral? Yeah, and
- 2:08Speaker 1: either one could happen. So um, you know, we're interested
- 2:11Speaker 1: to hear what he has to say. We'll go to
- 2:13Speaker 1: that when when he starts schedule for noon. Buddy's a
- 2:16Speaker 1: little late twelve or two now, but in the meantime,
- 2:21Speaker 1: eight five five Pats five hundred is the ticket houtline.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Web radio at pages dot com is the email address.
- 2:27Speaker 1: You know, we're still recovering. I think you know it's
- 2:30Speaker 1: still the wound is fresh. We're still recovering, but we're
- 2:34Speaker 1: trying to move on to the Bengals. Um. And here
- 2:37Speaker 1: in New England, leading up to the game, we're supposed
- 2:40Speaker 1: to have some type of wet storm, no snow, but
- 2:45Speaker 1: high winds, pouring rain and then freezing over Friday night
- 2:50Speaker 1: before the game on Saturday too. I think you're you're
- 2:54Speaker 1: breaking up there, you yeah, yeah, I heard it. It's
- 2:57Speaker 1: gonna be warm. Yeah, it's gonna be um rain for
- 3:02Speaker 1: Thursday night into Friday and then really woom on Friday
- 3:06Speaker 1: and then dropping like thirty degrees on Saturday. Yeah. So
- 3:09Speaker 1: like they said, like Friday night, it'll feel like minus
- 3:14Speaker 1: two around Foxborough. It'll feel like that. It won't that
- 3:18Speaker 1: it'll be higher, but feel like that. And then for
- 3:21Speaker 1: the game it should be upper twenties. Yeah, that's that's yeah,
- 3:24Speaker 1: that sounds like what what I had heard. And it
- 3:28Speaker 1: will be interesting to see how much freezing you you're right, Freddie,
- 3:31Speaker 1: because if we get a lot of rain, yeah, on Friday,
- 3:34Speaker 1: it's supposed to be like in the fifties. One I
- 3:38Speaker 1: was listening to one b Z. He was saying that
- 3:41Speaker 1: because of the high winds, the roads may not freeze
- 3:44Speaker 1: over because the wind kind of keeps the water from accumulating,
- 3:48Speaker 1: So the freezing over part may not be that bad.
- 3:52Speaker 1: But that makes sense. It is gonna drop very fast
- 3:56Speaker 1: over a seven hour period, from like forty five d
- 4:00Speaker 1: till I had heard as high as like fifty six
- 4:03Speaker 1: to like twenty six. Yeah, like that big of a gap.
- 4:05Speaker 1: So that that's so game time in the twenties. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:08Speaker 1: we're expecting. Yeah. I don't think that the weather won't
- 4:10Speaker 1: be terrible for the game itself, but I think Fred
- 4:12Speaker 1: brings up like whatever we get on Thursday and Friday,
- 4:16Speaker 1: what happens to that when it gets really cold, could
- 4:19Speaker 1: impact some wild and crazy. I even think like the
- 4:22Speaker 1: high winds are supposed to have gone away by Friday,
- 4:27Speaker 1: like Thursday night into Friday. They're supposed to be like
- 4:29Speaker 1: fifty sixty mile an hour winds. Yeah, like people are
- 4:31Speaker 1: gonna lose electricity over this one. Oh man, yeah yeah now.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Oh and there's Bill, let's go to him. Yeah. So
- 4:40Speaker 1: you know, it's been spent a lot of time here
- 4:42Speaker 1: since the last couple of days. Is good, good football team, UM,
- 4:48Speaker 1: good organization. I always had a lot of respect for,
- 4:51Speaker 1: you know, Mike, you know his commitment to well Over
- 4:55Speaker 1: Brown family, you know, come back to Paul Brown, Mike, um,
- 5:01Speaker 1: you know. And then Zach's done a really good job there.
- 5:03Speaker 1: You know. Obviously low on defense, you know Darren in
- 5:07Speaker 1: the kicking game. UM, team's well coached. Um they have
- 5:10Speaker 1: a lot of good players, very explosive offensively, great quarterback, three,
- 5:18Speaker 1: three great receivers, tight end, two, really good running backs.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Offensive lines certainly have been improved from where they were
- 5:28Speaker 1: last year. And you know, defensively they can they're big,
- 5:32Speaker 1: they can stop the run, they can rush. A really
- 5:36Speaker 1: smart team, good situational football team. Field goal kickers or
- 5:43Speaker 1: is twelve out of thirteen from over fifty yards or
- 5:46Speaker 1: something like that. He doesn't miss many. Um, so explosive
- 5:51Speaker 1: in the return game. Um, you can see whether and
- 5:55Speaker 1: whether one of the top teams in the league and
- 5:59Speaker 1: playing well here you know lately, you know, not maybe
- 6:03Speaker 1: not quite as good at the beginning of the year,
- 6:04Speaker 1: but they've certainly come on playing good football now. So Um,
- 6:10Speaker 1: it's been a good opportunity for US Saturday even and uh,
- 6:13Speaker 1: you know, challenge here to you know, deal with these guys.
- 6:15Speaker 1: They got a lot of a lot of weapons and
- 6:17Speaker 1: say they're very they're very well coached, they're penalized. Um,
- 6:23Speaker 1: played good clean game, so make air and everything and
- 6:26Speaker 1: so you know, so we're gonna have to do Um.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yeah said, I mean there's a legend. Um. Yeah, great,
- 6:41Speaker 1: great college player. UM. Maybe maybe a little overshadowed by uh,
- 6:46Speaker 1: you know lydell Um, but that was pretty good backfield. Um,
- 6:51Speaker 1: I was at Baltimore lydell Um. George Welsh was their
- 6:56Speaker 1: position coach at n State. So we talked about those
- 6:59Speaker 1: guys had a bit and um, you know, Mitchell got
- 7:03Speaker 1: a lot of the a lot of the stats and
- 7:07Speaker 1: publicity and all that at Penn State. But George always
- 7:12Speaker 1: you know, raved about Franco, didn't carry ball as much
- 7:17Speaker 1: and and his hands, which I mean one player kind
- 7:21Speaker 1: of says it all, you know on that one. So, um,
- 7:26Speaker 1: he wasn't fun to play against. I can tell you
- 7:28Speaker 1: that was that Baltimore we you know, played him in
- 7:31Speaker 1: the playoffs there my first year. Um, yeah, guys, that's
- 7:39Speaker 1: a great player, a great person. That's a big loss.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Thank you, Bill. What's your message to the guys, you know,
- 7:48Speaker 1: three games left, kind of control of your own destiny here?
- 7:51Speaker 1: Um yeah, one day at a time, one game at
- 7:54Speaker 1: a time. Name was always first time you've seen Joe
- 7:59Speaker 1: Brow Yeah everything. Um, I mean he's socially's tough. He's
- 8:07Speaker 1: a tough kid. Um, he's he'll stand in there and
- 8:12Speaker 1: throw the ball, take a hit to make a play,
- 8:15Speaker 1: Um accurate, that's all the throws off to tackle nag
- 8:23Speaker 1: is the game well, sees the game well productive, productive
- 8:27Speaker 1: in critical situations, their down red area, big games. Let's
- 8:31Speaker 1: say he makes makes a lot of his best plays
- 8:33Speaker 1: at the right time. Would you really need him? It's
- 8:36Speaker 1: impressive kind of impact. Is Ted Carress meat on there? Yeah?
- 8:49Speaker 1: Ted's not a good job already, haven't they been protecting
- 8:56Speaker 1: for all those sort of story took a lot facts
- 9:02Speaker 1: how their offensive production, Like I said, they definitely improved.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I mean, so let's just talk a couple of games
- 9:08Speaker 1: from last year. Um, yeah, I think they've improved it.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You know, made some changes there, drafted Olson, brought ted
- 9:15Speaker 1: in there Collins. So Bengals have had a lot of
- 9:21Speaker 1: injuries all over, but mainly on defensive Loaves and Cheeto
- 9:24Speaker 1: the main corner. A couple offensive, but it stuck out
- 9:27Speaker 1: to you that they've have been able to sustain their
- 9:30Speaker 1: defensive effort, their physicality and what we have done that. Yeah, yeah, again,
- 9:35Speaker 1: lose done a good job. They've they've got good depth
- 9:37Speaker 1: and um yeah again, I think they're very um you know,
- 9:43Speaker 1: they're they're aware, they're they make good instinctive plays, um
- 9:49Speaker 1: like Hilton's a very extinctive player of both safeties. Really
- 9:52Speaker 1: Um so, I mean they make a lot of you know,
- 9:56Speaker 1: good plays at the right time. Um, recognize things anticipating,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know, sometimes it looks like you're gonna have more
- 10:04Speaker 1: than you have and then things clows up quickly. I mean,
- 10:06Speaker 1: Wilson's been really productive. He's got a lot of tackles.
- 10:11Speaker 1: It's got some interceptions here the last couple of years.
- 10:13Speaker 1: He gets his hand on the balls. Good past defenders.
- 10:16Speaker 1: So I mean it's a team defense. It's just team defense.
- 10:20Speaker 1: The two edge players that have been very disruptive. So
- 10:23Speaker 1: got a lot out of Hoverard Henderson. Yeah, I'd say
- 10:49Speaker 1: probably the ladder. I mean, it's isn't a team that
- 10:52Speaker 1: does a lot of new things from week to week.
- 10:54Speaker 1: It's you don't look at one game and say like, oh,
- 10:56Speaker 1: it looks a lot different than some other game. Um.
- 11:02Speaker 1: They they're they're pretty steady really in their personal all Right,
- 11:05Speaker 1: we're gonna turn away from Bill. If he says anything,
- 11:09Speaker 1: you know, Newsworthy will we'll talk about it. People will
- 11:13Speaker 1: be monitoring it for us. But uh, just you know,
- 11:16Speaker 1: going over the Bengals and all the question line of
- 11:19Speaker 1: questions is about scouting the Bengals. So yeah, yeah, that
- 11:23Speaker 1: was interesting you mentioned. I mean, the edge guys do
- 11:24Speaker 1: stand out, but I mean, Hubbard doesn't sound like he's
- 11:26Speaker 1: gonna play. Hendrickson is back at practice this week with
- 11:28Speaker 1: a broken wrist, but he didn't play last week. So
- 11:30Speaker 1: both those guys have injury issues, so that could be
- 11:33Speaker 1: a little bit of a needed boost for the Patriots
- 11:35Speaker 1: offense with those two guys. Yet, now, um, in your database,
- 11:39Speaker 1: which we want to categorize that as the homeless crew?
- 11:45Speaker 1: Like what, well, if we name things homeless crew, Fred,
- 11:48Speaker 1: it might get complicated because there's a lot of homeless
- 11:50Speaker 1: crew looking in sweat shirts and jobbase. That is the
- 11:56Speaker 1: twenty fourteen That was the twenty fourteen edition of the
- 11:59Speaker 1: Belichick hoodie. Um, I was just looking. He uh, you
- 12:02Speaker 1: need to find a way to harness this one. He
- 12:04Speaker 1: hasn't I have. This is where I'm sitting here right now. Fred.
- 12:06Speaker 1: He's looking at it and he says that that is
- 12:08Speaker 1: the twenty fourteen Like, do you doubt him? Like? I
- 12:12Speaker 1: had a friend. I had a friend who knew what
- 12:14Speaker 1: episode of Star Trek it was from the captain's log
- 12:18Speaker 1: in the beginning of the show. Oh yeah, this is
- 12:21Speaker 1: the by the day I guess you know, start dates
- 12:24Speaker 1: is easy? Um, I did do. I did do a
- 12:26Speaker 1: quick look though that twenty fourteen one. He did wear it.
- 12:28Speaker 1: The first game he wore that particular sweatshirt not cut though,
- 12:31Speaker 1: was against the Bengals in twenty fourteen and beat him. Um,
- 12:34Speaker 1: but otherwise has not won the cut version since the
- 12:36Speaker 1: nineteen opener against the Steelers. Okay, there you go. What
- 12:39Speaker 1: did he wear on the Onto Cincinnati game in fourteen?
- 12:43Speaker 1: That's what I was just thinking of. When he said
- 12:45Speaker 1: that he wore that, I was like, maybe that's why
- 12:47Speaker 1: he broke I think you're right. Hold on. That was
- 12:50Speaker 1: the first thing I thought of, Fred, There you go,
- 12:52Speaker 1: great minds think alike. That was it. That was it.
- 12:54Speaker 1: The first time he wore that sweatshirt was on there.
- 12:57Speaker 1: So don't tell me that this is random. He just
- 12:59Speaker 1: pulled something out of the closet. This is this is
- 13:03Speaker 1: he puts thought into what he's wearing. I gotta, I gotta,
- 13:06Speaker 1: I gotta follow that up. Fred, thanks to you for
- 13:09Speaker 1: for connecting the dots on that. I didn't quite place
- 13:11Speaker 1: it together, but well, as soon as you said twenty
- 13:13Speaker 1: fourteen Cincinnati, that's the first, like, right, that's the first
- 13:17Speaker 1: thing that popped into my head. Right there it is,
- 13:20Speaker 1: there it is, and there it is. They're winning. You
- 13:24Speaker 1: can't lose, clear eyes fullart, can't lose, can't lose. Yeah, okay,
- 13:31Speaker 1: sorry to tweet that out, all right? Good? Yeah, thanks Fred,
- 13:33Speaker 1: I appreciate it. You know what I mean? Collaboration. You
- 13:34Speaker 1: guys are helping me connect the dots. I love it.
- 13:36Speaker 1: But it is funny. It is funny when you connect
- 13:40Speaker 1: things like this. Wait, what does it mean? I know?
- 13:42Speaker 1: Oh my god, like he's consulting. It bears just like
- 13:45Speaker 1: something we're gonna wear this speaking of speaking of conspiracy theories,
- 13:49Speaker 1: and not to dwell on the last game, but your guy,
- 13:51Speaker 1: Fitzy has a conspiracy theory. There's a I love conspiracy theories.
- 13:56Speaker 1: I almost never agree with you. Yeah, there's a Twitter
- 13:57Speaker 1: account I'm called NFL Officiating and it's an official Oh
- 14:03Speaker 1: my god, that's managed by the NFL officials and it
- 14:06Speaker 1: overs and supposedly, according to FITZI, they follow all the
- 14:11Speaker 1: NFL teams except for the Patriots. We're the only team
- 14:14Speaker 1: it doesn't follow. They don't care for our social media posts.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I thought this was going to be something like Stevenson
- 14:21Speaker 1: and Myers had like a bet going on, like like
- 14:24Speaker 1: I wanted it to be like a like legit conspiracy theory.
- 14:28Speaker 1: This is a conspiracy theory, like some some poor social
- 14:32Speaker 1: follows on social media? Well why they left with why
- 14:36Speaker 1: do they follow all the team? Thank you? Matt? Right?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Yeah right, yeah, like I'm not following the Patriots. We
- 14:41Speaker 1: don't like them, right, We're gonna we do calls against them.
- 14:43Speaker 1: We don't want to hear what they have to say.
- 14:45Speaker 1: And if you want to entertain this for a second, sure,
- 14:49Speaker 1: which fan base do you think would give something called
- 14:52Speaker 1: NFL officiating the most? Yeah, but that has nothing to
- 14:56Speaker 1: do with following the official account of the Patriots. So
- 14:59Speaker 1: don't wipe everything away from the Patriots, because there's no
- 15:02Speaker 1: question in my mind, the most they hear from his Patriots, well,
- 15:06Speaker 1: we're the most screwed. Exactly. Let's face it, exactly, there's
- 15:10Speaker 1: only one fan base that thinks like that, and you
- 15:12Speaker 1: just articulated it are the most screwed, you know, always? No,
- 15:17Speaker 1: I'm a little I was. I didn't know where you
- 15:19Speaker 1: were going with that. But when you said Fitzy has
- 15:21Speaker 1: a I was like, what didn't I hear? I was like, oh,
- 15:25Speaker 1: especially fitz he's in a dark place. Yes, he's texting me.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I'm like, who is this? Who is I did the
- 15:31Speaker 1: podcast two weeks ago with with Andy and Fitzy. He
- 15:34Speaker 1: is not in a good place. Yeah, because he's also
- 15:36Speaker 1: a bit so that that he can't be happy about
- 15:39Speaker 1: what's going on there. Either said if I don't have you,
- 15:41Speaker 1: and you know, yeah, I don't know what. I don't
- 15:44Speaker 1: know what the Patriots can rely on. Yeah? Was he
- 15:47Speaker 1: the one like with the positivity over Andy? Now? Like
- 15:49Speaker 1: he's the one oh Indian and he's got a way
- 15:52Speaker 1: more positive than Fitzy was in that podcasts out of
- 15:57Speaker 1: his moment. The other um the other video I shared
- 15:59Speaker 1: on our little cool Content thing. I don't know if
- 16:00Speaker 1: you saw that one, but there's some Patriots fan that
- 16:03Speaker 1: getting getting just absolutely yelled at by some drunk woman
- 16:06Speaker 1: in his face at the Raiders game. At the Raiders game.
- 16:10Speaker 1: But credit to that guy for he just stoically sat
- 16:13Speaker 1: there and stood there and didn't say a word. Yeah,
- 16:17Speaker 1: I was telling Mike, this is great. This is what
- 16:20Speaker 1: I really am. Like, I really, I take a step back.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I looked myself in the mirror and said, you really
- 16:24Speaker 1: are a rotten person. You know what My first thought was,
- 16:26Speaker 1: I saw this this morning. I was getting I had
- 16:29Speaker 1: to get Will up for basketball practice, so I was
- 16:31Speaker 1: just like scrolling through and I see this thing and
- 16:34Speaker 1: I was like, Wow, what a jerk that woman is.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I mean, she's really I mean, this is really over
- 16:40Speaker 1: the top, and I thought, you know what, I immediately thought, Fred,
- 16:43Speaker 1: what's that? What must that guy have done in the
- 16:45Speaker 1: fourth quarter when it looked like the Patriots are going
- 16:48Speaker 1: to beat them to elicit that kind of a response, right,
- 16:51Speaker 1: That was the first thing I thought of, Why, Like,
- 16:53Speaker 1: why do I think like that? Like why would I
- 16:57Speaker 1: think like like you know what I mean, like when
- 16:59Speaker 1: it looked like the Pigs are gonna win twenty four
- 17:01Speaker 1: or seventeen. Because you know that anybody that does what
- 17:04Speaker 1: that woman did with the Raiders shirt, anyone who does that,
- 17:07Speaker 1: that's a colossal a hole, right, right, So you know,
- 17:11Speaker 1: she was probably given it to him the whole first half.
- 17:14Speaker 1: She was probably yelling at him. Yeah, And then I'm
- 17:17Speaker 1: thinking that guy must have turned the tables in the
- 17:20Speaker 1: second half when the Patriots came back, and then when
- 17:23Speaker 1: it ended like that, she just emptied all the battles. Sure,
- 17:26Speaker 1: but more often, you know, more likely is the guy
- 17:30Speaker 1: who took it as the Patriots fan is probably just
- 17:31Speaker 1: a good guy and didn't create a problem, which absolutely
- 17:35Speaker 1: could have been a problem, because I don't know how
- 17:36Speaker 1: I would have handled that. As you all know, I'd
- 17:39Speaker 1: still be beating up that guy from Green Bay. If
- 17:41Speaker 1: my brother didn't pull me off of it'd be an
- 17:44Speaker 1: incident for sure. What are you supposed to do with
- 17:45Speaker 1: like a situation, You're supposed to go get an ashroom
- 17:47Speaker 1: like this woman is harassing? No, I think the guy.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know how. I don't know how
- 17:51Speaker 1: that guy did. I really don't. In all seriousness, I
- 17:54Speaker 1: don't know how those Patriots fans maintained their composure and
- 17:57Speaker 1: just sat there and let that go on. Because that
- 18:01Speaker 1: was bad in the face stuff. When she was like
- 18:03Speaker 1: in his face, like you know, like right up all
- 18:07Speaker 1: it probably saved her that it was a woman. Yeah,
- 18:11Speaker 1: that was a guy head butt. Yeah yeah, all right now,
- 18:17Speaker 1: yeah that was bad. That was bad. Terres Hollis back.
- 18:21Speaker 1: We didn't talk about camera growing yesterday. Interesting that he
- 18:24Speaker 1: got signed off the Patriots practice squad so from Indianapolis. Yeah,
- 18:29Speaker 1: so he's gonna have to be on their active roster
- 18:33Speaker 1: at least. But you know what's funny, And I don't
- 18:35Speaker 1: know how much you guys watched the Colts game, the
- 18:38Speaker 1: Colts Vikings game, you know, the history comeback. I don't
- 18:41Speaker 1: know if you guys paid a bunch attention to it.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Um I watched it all, Um, I did too, and
- 18:47Speaker 1: one of the best players on the field for the
- 18:49Speaker 1: Colts was that guy. And I I'm I can't pronounce
- 18:54Speaker 1: his name. It's if Phoene, if Fanny Uhig, but don't
- 19:00Speaker 1: I can't pronounce his name. So linebacker. I think he
- 19:02Speaker 1: was number fifty four. He made all kinds of plays
- 19:05Speaker 1: in the game. But he's also the guy that tackled
- 19:08Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson like three times at the end of overtime,
- 19:11Speaker 1: which led to the delayed game penalty stopped the clock
- 19:13Speaker 1: and allowed to like they waived him. They released him
- 19:17Speaker 1: after the game. Oh wow, wow, you know, And I
- 19:20Speaker 1: just I don't know if that guy was any good
- 19:22Speaker 1: if he just had a good game. He was all
- 19:24Speaker 1: over the placemaking plays in that game, and then he
- 19:27Speaker 1: ultimately did the thing that cost him the game, caused
- 19:30Speaker 1: him a tie. Um, and they released him. And now
- 19:33Speaker 1: they bring in Camera Groan off the Patriots practice squad
- 19:35Speaker 1: to replace him, ostensibly linebacker for linebacker. Yeah, so teams
- 19:40Speaker 1: just cut guys when they make egregious mistakes sometimes. Wow,
- 19:43Speaker 1: this is where I get Mike is in a bad like,
- 19:45Speaker 1: he's in a dark place. I would like to see
- 19:50Speaker 1: some repercussions for things that sort of seemed to be
- 19:53Speaker 1: happening week after week after week. But yeah, I think
- 19:56Speaker 1: I've you know a lot of people have the theory that,
- 19:59Speaker 1: you know, Bill in his decision to put Matt Patricia
- 20:03Speaker 1: in charge of the offense, is broken Mac. I think
- 20:06Speaker 1: Mac is broken Bill. Yeah, like hann like the the
- 20:11Speaker 1: stuff that's gone on with no like Kendrick Bourne. Could
- 20:14Speaker 1: you imagine like five years ago Kick Bourne doing what
- 20:17Speaker 1: he did like three weeks ago and not losing a
- 20:20Speaker 1: snap right well, for all we know, he has lost
- 20:23Speaker 1: snaps all throughout the season going back an he can,
- 20:26Speaker 1: but not right off of that game. The next game
- 20:28Speaker 1: he caught five passes. It was probably his most active
- 20:30Speaker 1: game of the year. Yeah. Yeah, Or they're kind of desperate,
- 20:34Speaker 1: and you know, I mean he didn't play a lot
- 20:36Speaker 1: last week either. I mean, it's just I don't know,
- 20:38Speaker 1: it's we getting this conversation all the time, and he's
- 20:40Speaker 1: just it's hard to like really get in on Mac
- 20:42Speaker 1: and all that. When Malcolm Butler didn't play an entire
- 20:46Speaker 1: Super Bowl for something that wasn't play related. We don't
- 20:50Speaker 1: know why. We don't know why, but it wasn't play related,
- 20:53Speaker 1: so it was not like not performance based yea and
- 20:57Speaker 1: played over the snaps all throughout the year. Welker didn't
- 21:01Speaker 1: play a quarter because of stuff he said about another
- 21:05Speaker 1: head coach. And now you can say our third down
- 21:07Speaker 1: package thinks they know our plays and nothing happens. Yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I think they broke Mac. I mean I think they
- 21:14Speaker 1: broke Bill. Yeah. Who isn't broken right now? I'm broken.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I'm broken, but I've been broken for a long time.
- 21:21Speaker 1: All right, five five past five hundred. Why don't we
- 21:24Speaker 1: go to our listeners see what's going on around Patriots Nation.
- 21:28Speaker 1: We'll start with Mark and Connecticut. What's up Mark? Mark?
- 21:34Speaker 1: Good job party? Oh there? I wanted to ask you guys,
- 21:40Speaker 1: what is going on with Mac Jones? Just missing easy
- 21:44Speaker 1: wide open throw after wide open throw. Yeah, I don't know.
- 21:48Speaker 1: We were kind of talking about it. I was wondering,
- 21:51Speaker 1: you know, is it possible? And I'm just asking, is
- 21:54Speaker 1: it possible that since the ankle injury, his mechanics haven't
- 21:59Speaker 1: been right? You know, could be? But is it time
- 22:03Speaker 1: to go to Jared? Is it time to go to Bate?
- 22:06Speaker 1: I was gonna say, Jared said, Bailey's appy? Is it
- 22:08Speaker 1: time to Is it time to turn the page and
- 22:12Speaker 1: maybe get the kid? Yeah? To what end the season?
- 22:15Speaker 1: To what? Like, what are you going to prove? I
- 22:17Speaker 1: think you'd have to like give mac quote an injury
- 22:20Speaker 1: in order to do that. It's just done it. Yeah,
- 22:23Speaker 1: I don't think you just you just make the switch.
- 22:26Speaker 1: There would have to be some that after the after
- 22:29Speaker 1: the game. What what a dumb team we are? Yeah,
- 22:32Speaker 1: what a dumb team we are? Yeah, there we would know. Yeah,
- 22:36Speaker 1: he's been on some dumb teams. Oh, I thought you
- 22:39Speaker 1: were going in a different Oh, well, we're tough to
- 22:43Speaker 1: watch now, we really are. We're tough about I agree, Mark,
- 22:46Speaker 1: And that's sort of the worst part about it is,
- 22:49Speaker 1: you know, you play kind of sloppy and undisciplined football.
- 22:52Speaker 1: It's really not even overly entertaining. Um, you know, and
- 22:55Speaker 1: like the theater of the absurd of the last play
- 22:58Speaker 1: of the game doesn't overshadow the fact that that game
- 23:00Speaker 1: really wasn't all that entertaining, you know to that point. Yeah, right,
- 23:05Speaker 1: But do you blame Patricia or do you blame Bill Belichick?
- 23:08Speaker 1: Is the time to bring him, Billy O'Brien. It's it's
- 23:11Speaker 1: everybody gets blamed. Everybody gets blamed Bill. You know, Bill
- 23:15Speaker 1: put this together. Yeah, yeah, I ultimately blame Bill because
- 23:19Speaker 1: he's the one that decided to do it this way.
- 23:21Speaker 1: But I heard an interesting take on like that Patricia
- 23:25Speaker 1: and nobody in football, So this was I was talking
- 23:31Speaker 1: to somebody else who follows it very closely, but not
- 23:35Speaker 1: in football, not a Patriots employee, who mentioned that Patricia
- 23:40Speaker 1: should have said no. He should have said no, he
- 23:44Speaker 1: should have said I'm not qualified to do that. Well, listen,
- 23:48Speaker 1: I think you know, people like well, Bill should be
- 23:51Speaker 1: gone because of this. I disagree. But unless Bill doesn't
- 23:56Speaker 1: believe that he made a mistake, you know, like yep,
- 23:59Speaker 1: Like listen, I tried something. I tried something. He's a
- 24:03Speaker 1: smart guy. He knows football. The same with Judge. I
- 24:06Speaker 1: thought that they could do you know, this would work out.
- 24:08Speaker 1: It didn't work out. We're gonna move on. Ye And
- 24:11Speaker 1: that to me, that's okay, all right. I agree with you.
- 24:13Speaker 1: If he if he thinks that he didn't do anything wrong,
- 24:17Speaker 1: then that's a different argument. Absolutely, that's that's yeah. Yeah,
- 24:21Speaker 1: Like he definitely got to bring in an actual offensive
- 24:24Speaker 1: coordinator next. Sure you gotta, yeah somebody, Yeah, absolutely, all right,
- 24:30Speaker 1: Thanks for an offensive coach. Yeah, John's in LA. What's up? John? Guys,
- 24:37Speaker 1: you are like stavers. I mean, after the super Bowl
- 24:42Speaker 1: that shall not be named and a few other losses,
- 24:46Speaker 1: it's been hard for me to even get like listen
- 24:50Speaker 1: to the show. And I sort of I didn't want
- 24:53Speaker 1: to listen to the show after the Bills game a
- 24:56Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago, and that was much less worse
- 24:58Speaker 1: than this. But I just want to say thank you
- 25:02Speaker 1: for sort of you know, this time of year, one
- 25:06Speaker 1: thinks about what you're grateful for, and I'm really grateful
- 25:10Speaker 1: that I tuned in yesterday and we did our therapy,
- 25:13Speaker 1: as Fred likes to call it. That was infuriating, and
- 25:18Speaker 1: the whole season has been frustrating. I don't want to
- 25:21Speaker 1: fire Bill. I don't think they will. I hope they won't,
- 25:25Speaker 1: but I do hope he takes some accountability like you
- 25:27Speaker 1: were just referring to, and like you guys talked about
- 25:30Speaker 1: in the show yesterday, which he hasn't and the coaching
- 25:32Speaker 1: staff happened and the players have. I think it's a
- 25:35Speaker 1: very bad look and hopefully it's just like he can't
- 25:39Speaker 1: take that level of it right now. He's got to
- 25:41Speaker 1: wait till the end of the season. But he needs
- 25:44Speaker 1: to acknowledge what anyone can see, ye, which is that
- 25:49Speaker 1: the things that I'm sure he was ready to show
- 25:52Speaker 1: the media what he was going to do, and they
- 25:54Speaker 1: don't know anything. And Matt Patricia's smart guy, football guy.
- 25:58Speaker 1: He needs to just suck it up and say that
- 26:01Speaker 1: didn't work. That's on me. It's all on me, and
- 26:04Speaker 1: we're going to try to do better, right, and he'll
- 26:07Speaker 1: he'll go a long way with me. Yeah, I agree,
- 26:10Speaker 1: but mostly thank you, all right, well, thank you for listening.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Thanks John, Yeah, thanks John. But it does make me wonder.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I don't know if you're ever going to get that
- 26:18Speaker 1: cathartic moment of Bill Belichick standing before the press and
- 26:21Speaker 1: saying this was a mistake, like you're gonna don't say it,
- 26:23Speaker 1: but through his actions, right, well you know that. What
- 26:29Speaker 1: do you mean if if if he makes a change,
- 26:31Speaker 1: do you know that that was through was his actions
- 26:33Speaker 1: that he just said, I you know that what I
- 26:34Speaker 1: did was wrong and I have to I had to
- 26:36Speaker 1: change it. Or would you think that he was kind
- 26:38Speaker 1: of forced into it. I don't think. I don't I
- 26:42Speaker 1: don't think he's going to be forced into anything like
- 26:45Speaker 1: like if he's being asked to do something he disagrees
- 26:48Speaker 1: with but he has no choice, he will leave. So
- 26:52Speaker 1: I you know, that's my take. I'm not sure I agree. Yeah,
- 26:57Speaker 1: I'm not sure because I don't. I don't think. I
- 27:00Speaker 1: don't think he wants to go anywhere else. I think
- 27:03Speaker 1: it's just he has everything set up here the way
- 27:06Speaker 1: he wants it. I don't think he wants to start over.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I don't either, But I don't think he also wants
- 27:10Speaker 1: to be told how to run the team. And he'd
- 27:13Speaker 1: and again this is just me guessing, but I think
- 27:16Speaker 1: he'd rather not coach than you know, be under the
- 27:19Speaker 1: thumb of an owner. Yeah, well, I mean he didn't
- 27:23Speaker 1: want to think it's he didn't want to stay at
- 27:25Speaker 1: the Jets. He didn't want to stay at the Jets
- 27:27Speaker 1: because he wasn't sure of who the new owner would
- 27:30Speaker 1: be like. And he want to be under the thumb
- 27:31Speaker 1: of parcels. But you think that's the same as being
- 27:34Speaker 1: somewhere for twenty five years and you know, being asked
- 27:37Speaker 1: to make a change a coordinator, Well like not having
- 27:40Speaker 1: ideas newner is going to be in having parcels as shadow. No,
- 27:44Speaker 1: but I think Robert has the right and probably will
- 27:48Speaker 1: say Bill, you're gonna make a change, right, But I
- 27:50Speaker 1: think it's Bill's going to agree with that. I think, See,
- 27:53Speaker 1: I don't. Yeah, I think if a change is made,
- 27:55Speaker 1: it's probably more likely it's like I don't want to
- 27:57Speaker 1: do it, but I gotta do it. Well, he might,
- 28:00Speaker 1: but you know, Patricia's his friend too, but I think
- 28:02Speaker 1: he's gonna. I think he knows again, like how can
- 28:05Speaker 1: he not say what everybody else? And that's why it's
- 28:08Speaker 1: not flying anymore, like the you know, playing hard to
- 28:11Speaker 1: get Oh, well, we'll just work better, Like it's been
- 28:14Speaker 1: so bad this year that I think that's what you know,
- 28:16Speaker 1: fans like especially, they want to hear it from Let's
- 28:18Speaker 1: just say even let's just say that Bill thinks the
- 28:21Speaker 1: mistake was not Patricia and Judge. The mistake was drafting
- 28:26Speaker 1: Mac Jones. Let's just say that in his mind, he
- 28:29Speaker 1: thinks that's a mistake. You can't tell me looking at
- 28:32Speaker 1: this team that it's just Mac, even if you believe
- 28:35Speaker 1: that it's it's not everything play, I mean that's you know,
- 28:40Speaker 1: that's a symptom of it, of everything That last play,
- 28:42Speaker 1: I mean, that's what where that's where we're at. These
- 28:43Speaker 1: guys they don't you know, they're not all on the
- 28:45Speaker 1: same page, they're not all pulling in the same director.
- 28:47Speaker 1: And and the thing is like, what what you don't
- 28:49Speaker 1: see on this team is a lack of effort, and
- 28:53Speaker 1: you don't see guys that don't care. I mean, you
- 28:55Speaker 1: guys were distraught after this game. The locker room was
- 29:00Speaker 1: like a funeral. Jacobe Myers isn't tears. They care. It's
- 29:04Speaker 1: not like OH nine, where you had a bunch of
- 29:06Speaker 1: guys that couldn't give a crap. These guys care. So
- 29:10Speaker 1: it's not about that. It's not about that, you know.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I mean, I think we're gonna find out. We're gonna
- 29:16Speaker 1: find out. I think it's a great comparison to OH nine.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I think it's a dysfunctional locker room. I think there's
- 29:22Speaker 1: too many guys doing their own thing. Yeah, like it
- 29:25Speaker 1: doesn't manifest itself, and guys not necessarily caring or openly
- 29:29Speaker 1: not caring. Yeah, it's I'm doing my thing, but that
- 29:32Speaker 1: I'm going to flip the ball over my shoulder. But
- 29:34Speaker 1: that's I'm trying to make a play to win the game.
- 29:36Speaker 1: But it's not that they don't care that they win
- 29:38Speaker 1: a lose. No, it's I'm gonna do what I want to,
- 29:40Speaker 1: try to do something to make a play. But but
- 29:42Speaker 1: then to me, that comes back to coaching. Yes, you know, yes, yeah,
- 29:46Speaker 1: and I'll go back to oh nine. I just can't
- 29:49Speaker 1: get them to play the way they need to play.
- 29:51Speaker 1: And I think he if he was doing a football
- 29:54Speaker 1: life on this year, you'd hear him saying that to
- 29:57Speaker 1: Patricia or Judge. Wouldn't be saying it to Mac because
- 30:01Speaker 1: I eminently they don't talk. I don't see any of
- 30:03Speaker 1: Dahlias Thomas is on this team, and see I don't like,
- 30:07Speaker 1: I don't know how you can I do I don't necessarily.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I mean, I think Kendrick Bowen is a daylist Thomas,
- 30:13Speaker 1: Like he's doing it every single week. I mean it's
- 30:16Speaker 1: more often that Trent Brown is Sean Springs. Like. I
- 30:21Speaker 1: think it's the same. You might be right, right, I
- 30:25Speaker 1: think it's the same, only this team isn't as talented
- 30:27Speaker 1: as that team. Yeah, you might be right. I just
- 30:29Speaker 1: I just get the sense that the guys they want
- 30:32Speaker 1: to win, they want to be cod where's Isaiah win Well,
- 30:36Speaker 1: he's Yeah, that's a good one. I mean, like, but
- 30:39Speaker 1: he's not playing. No, I know that's the point, well,
- 30:43Speaker 1: because he don't care, Like I just yeah, you might
- 30:48Speaker 1: be right, you might be right. I mean, I mean
- 30:50Speaker 1: unless he's got like a broken foot and we don't
- 30:52Speaker 1: know it. But like, I find it hard to don't
- 30:54Speaker 1: you find it interesting that we haven't had any, like
- 30:56Speaker 1: Jim McBride medical updates on Isaiah Win just gone. Yeah,
- 30:59Speaker 1: I mean he had foot injury. He was out that week,
- 31:02Speaker 1: and he was out the next week, then he was
- 31:03Speaker 1: out the next week, and then they put him on.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I mean, when it comes to the story of this team,
- 31:08Speaker 1: everything's on the table, you know, like as as a
- 31:11Speaker 1: possible storyline. You know, you can't rule anything out good
- 31:14Speaker 1: or bad. You know, you just can't, because you know,
- 31:17Speaker 1: we don't know. That's where that's where I land. I'm
- 31:20Speaker 1: not telling you why, No, definitively, I'm just saying I
- 31:22Speaker 1: feel like there's a lot of two thousand and nine
- 31:24Speaker 1: with this team. And I think it's also interesting the
- 31:26Speaker 1: worst A lot of people call this the worst regular
- 31:28Speaker 1: season lost in Patriots history. I think that it rivals
- 31:34Speaker 1: one of the losses that would rival at his fourth
- 31:36Speaker 1: and two well, and that was two thousand and nine. Like,
- 31:39Speaker 1: but there's a lot of it, I would say in
- 31:41Speaker 1: correlations in terms of how we felt coming out of
- 31:43Speaker 1: this game. We got to go back to fourteen coming
- 31:46Speaker 1: out of that Kansas City game, you know, like we
- 31:49Speaker 1: had national TV analysts telling us, you know, they're not
- 31:53Speaker 1: that good anymore, blah blah blah, and like, remember how
- 31:56Speaker 1: we felt coming out of Like, hey, Brady got benched.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Brady got benched in that game. You're taken out of
- 32:02Speaker 1: the game. He didn't get he got taken out of
- 32:05Speaker 1: the game. But there's a different okay, but but he
- 32:08Speaker 1: wasn't playing well. Nobody. It was an awful, awful game,
- 32:11Speaker 1: and we were like, oh my god, what is going
- 32:14Speaker 1: on with this team? And then they just turned it
- 32:16Speaker 1: around the next week and the rest is history. But
- 32:19Speaker 1: we felt I felt just as bad after that game
- 32:22Speaker 1: as this game. Oh I didn't. I did. I didn't,
- 32:25Speaker 1: Oh I did. I'm not telling you that I knew
- 32:26Speaker 1: they were gonna rattle off one hundred wins in a
- 32:29Speaker 1: row and win the Super Bowl. I'm not telling you that.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Not telling you I wasn't like taking a step back,
- 32:33Speaker 1: but that team was one of the most talented teams
- 32:35Speaker 1: of the Dynasty. It turns out the team, but after
- 32:38Speaker 1: that game, you're like, despite their talent, you're like this,
- 32:41Speaker 1: I was shook. I was shook. There was sometimes they
- 32:44Speaker 1: weren't they weren't playing. Well, I'm not gonna lie and
- 32:45Speaker 1: tell you why I knew that. I didn't. I didn't
- 32:47Speaker 1: know that they were gonna rattle off and all. And
- 32:49Speaker 1: you're right, Paul, this team is not as talented as
- 32:52Speaker 1: that team. But I think this team is better than
- 32:54Speaker 1: what they're showing, oh for sure. And so again I
- 32:56Speaker 1: gotta go back to coaching. Why they're not getting out
- 32:59Speaker 1: of these guys what they I just I mean, every
- 33:02Speaker 1: single person you included had their record being eight and nine, eight,
- 33:07Speaker 1: and that's where they're going to end up. And everybody's
- 33:09Speaker 1: telling me how much more talented they are than they're playing.
- 33:11Speaker 1: They're not there, but they're not. But here's the thing.
- 33:18Speaker 1: They could still be eight and nine, but the offense
- 33:20Speaker 1: would look like a real NFL offense. You know. The
- 33:24Speaker 1: offense just doesn't look like an NFL offense. It's just
- 33:27Speaker 1: not right. Yeah, I think the coaching is a big
- 33:29Speaker 1: part of it. But I also think that's why a
- 33:31Speaker 1: lot of people had them predicted to be eight and
- 33:33Speaker 1: nine to nine and eight, right, because I don't think
- 33:35Speaker 1: a lot of people had a lot of faith in
- 33:37Speaker 1: the setup. I just I think there's a difference though,
- 33:39Speaker 1: between nine and eight and seven and ten, you know,
- 33:41Speaker 1: and I think seven and ten is still on the
- 33:43Speaker 1: table for this team. And you know, you talk about
- 33:45Speaker 1: Kansas City. That game happened early in the season, and
- 33:47Speaker 1: at the time, I wasn't losing my mind over that one.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I felt like, man, this it felt to me like
- 33:51Speaker 1: they just had one of those one offers. This is
- 33:54Speaker 1: the end of the season. This is how they're playing.
- 33:55Speaker 1: At the end of the season. There's no time to to,
- 33:57Speaker 1: you know, find yourself and turn it around. So I
- 34:00Speaker 1: just think all these things are gonna come to a head.
- 34:01Speaker 1: We'll see what kind of they have coming out they
- 34:03Speaker 1: go seven and ten. In my opinion, the difference between
- 34:07Speaker 1: eight and nine and seven and ten would be they
- 34:10Speaker 1: lost to a team that you didn't expect to lose,
- 34:12Speaker 1: to Chicago, and they didn't beat anybody that you didn't
- 34:15Speaker 1: expect them to beat, which they almost always do. They
- 34:18Speaker 1: always beat somebody that you have Baltimore and the Cam
- 34:20Speaker 1: Newton year, like there's always a game like that that
- 34:23Speaker 1: you wow, I didn't. I didn't think they'd win that game.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Maybe it was the Chargers last year, you know, when
- 34:28Speaker 1: they went to LA and they won that game. Right now,
- 34:32Speaker 1: as of right now, if they if Mike is right,
- 34:34Speaker 1: and they lose the last three and go seven and ten,
- 34:37Speaker 1: they couldn't beat a good team. They didn't beat anybody
- 34:39Speaker 1: that you weren't expecting them to beat, and they lost
- 34:41Speaker 1: to somebody that you didn't expect them to lose. That's
- 34:43Speaker 1: the different Tue eight and nine and seven and ten. Yeah, yeah,
- 34:46Speaker 1: but you need a last second punt return against the Jets,
- 34:49Speaker 1: and you also got all these favorable matchups like you
- 34:51Speaker 1: got last year of you know, like I mean, the
- 34:54Speaker 1: wins that they got against the teams they got team
- 34:57Speaker 1: won weren't against good offenses with a good quarter. So
- 35:01Speaker 1: I mean, it could have been worse. Splitting hairs, it
- 35:03Speaker 1: could have been worse, Mike, you're right. That's a good point,
- 35:05Speaker 1: because they had a couple of games that you might
- 35:07Speaker 1: have thought would have been a little bit tougher that
- 35:09Speaker 1: weren't like the Colts game. Yeah, you're right, maybe the
- 35:11Speaker 1: Packers too, You're right, But you know, either way, I
- 35:15Speaker 1: just think we'll see, like all this talk about where
- 35:17Speaker 1: they're at mentally, like, we'll see where they're at when
- 35:19Speaker 1: they get out there against a very a very good team.
- 35:22Speaker 1: You know, are they gonna well, like like we said
- 35:24Speaker 1: last week with Josh, you know, how will the team,
- 35:26Speaker 1: how will the Raiders come out? You know, has he
- 35:29Speaker 1: does he still have command of the locker room. Let's
- 35:31Speaker 1: see how the Patriots come out same based on the
- 35:33Speaker 1: way they played, I'd say no, yeah, well maybe yeah.
- 35:37Speaker 1: I mean that's kind of the joke too with the pads,
- 35:40Speaker 1: is that, you know, you talk about these things and
- 35:41Speaker 1: they've all they kind of looked the same every game
- 35:43Speaker 1: they come out. There's not really a big difference whether
- 35:45Speaker 1: they're gonna play a good game or a bad game.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Like they're just gonna kind of play like they play. Now. Yeah,
- 35:50Speaker 1: back to the phones. Let's go to Tom and Connecticut.
- 35:53Speaker 1: What's up, Tom, Tam? Hey are you guys doing good? Hey? So, um,
- 36:00Speaker 1: I saw an article the other day on Nesting about
- 36:04Speaker 1: potentially Julian Edelman coming back only if Doingland is a contender,
- 36:09Speaker 1: and I was calling to see what you guys think
- 36:11Speaker 1: about that. I'm taking myself off the year. Yeah, I
- 36:14Speaker 1: think he's done. He just keeps playing the charade every time.
- 36:17Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't think the other I don't
- 36:19Speaker 1: think the Patriots are either, but oh less than one percent.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I don't like to say zero, but I'm not in
- 36:27Speaker 1: for I don't want to come back in these last
- 36:28Speaker 1: three games. I guess the last two games, since we're
- 36:30Speaker 1: already at Wednesday, is that? Is that what he's saying
- 36:33Speaker 1: or just I think he means next year? Next year?
- 36:36Speaker 1: Like why would why would he come back? Now? No?
- 36:38Speaker 1: I know that's that's why I was asking for clarification.
- 36:40Speaker 1: They already made a football life about him. It's over, okay, Yeah,
- 36:45Speaker 1: I mean I like the Brady Gronk Edelman thing. To me,
- 36:48Speaker 1: I just don't understand, like, if you're really a fan
- 36:53Speaker 1: of the Patriots and not necessarily a fan of like
- 36:56Speaker 1: what an unbelievable story in the buzz put the pr aside.
- 37:01Speaker 1: If you're really a fan of the Patriots, that's what
- 37:03Speaker 1: you think is the best thing to do. I mean,
- 37:05Speaker 1: it's Brady Gronk Edelman will do that again going to happen.
- 37:08Speaker 1: But if it did, two out of three of them
- 37:10Speaker 1: would not finish the season. Oh for sure, so it
- 37:14Speaker 1: wouldn't matter. Uh Williamson, Philam, what's up? William what's going on? Fred? Hey? Mike? Hey?
- 37:23Speaker 1: My god? For I mean seem like every always got
- 37:27Speaker 1: something to say about this team. Well, but I'm not surprised.
- 37:30Speaker 1: I'm not surprised at all. But it's just getting it's
- 37:32Speaker 1: getting worse at every time. And um uh it's Tamara
- 37:37Speaker 1: end today. She is not okay. Uh can you send
- 37:41Speaker 1: a message to uh was Tamara? Please tell her? I
- 37:44Speaker 1: don't want to hear anything more about Jacobe Mikes. There
- 37:47Speaker 1: was nothing special about him. Time to get go. Yeah,
- 37:50Speaker 1: he's he's the owned up to it and everything. I
- 37:54Speaker 1: take my head off to him and everything. But that
- 37:56Speaker 1: was so dumb. Oh my god. And you you go
- 38:00Speaker 1: back twenty yards and then you're gonna throw the ball. Well,
- 38:04Speaker 1: I think he got caught up in it, you know,
- 38:05Speaker 1: like if you're gonna like like Remandre started it like
- 38:09Speaker 1: so like he probably looks up to remand he started it,
- 38:12Speaker 1: you know, like, well he gave me the ball, I
- 38:14Speaker 1: gotta give somebody else, you know. Yeah, but when I
- 38:18Speaker 1: Remando runs, he's running in the right direction. He throws
- 38:21Speaker 1: it back you know, even though he started the jumping
- 38:24Speaker 1: out yeah and then your corns back. I know, I
- 38:27Speaker 1: know it was. It was a complete brain fart, like Jacobe,
- 38:32Speaker 1: you playing for a no, you trying to get a contract,
- 38:34Speaker 1: Danna sign like that. There's a terrible play by both
- 38:38Speaker 1: of them equally Jesus. Um. So my my question is this,
- 38:42Speaker 1: and I'm gonna take it off there. I' gonna leaveing
- 38:44Speaker 1: that this. I just need an answer from each and
- 38:45Speaker 1: one of you. Do you want change? If you want change?
- 38:49Speaker 1: And y'all already know, y'all stay, Bill ain't gonna change
- 38:52Speaker 1: and it's now, So what do you want to do?
- 38:54Speaker 1: You want to move on or not? No? I want change,
- 38:57Speaker 1: but I want Bill to make the change. I need
- 38:58Speaker 1: more information. Yeah yeah, I mean, in a perfect world,
- 39:03Speaker 1: I just want him to put an offensive coordinator in.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I don't want any more change than that. I just
- 39:07Speaker 1: need an offensive coordinator. But I need to know more.
- 39:10Speaker 1: I need to know how much he wants to do
- 39:12Speaker 1: that ros because I don't want him doing it if
- 39:14Speaker 1: he doesn't want to do it, just to go along,
- 39:16Speaker 1: to get along, yet separate. Definitely, we definitely need infusion
- 39:21Speaker 1: of talent. Yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, all right, John, thank you,
- 39:25Speaker 1: all right, thanks William h. Let's go to Jeff and Texas.
- 39:29Speaker 1: What's up, Jeff, Hi, guys, Hey, I just got a
- 39:33Speaker 1: couple of things here. Um, and you were just talking
- 39:36Speaker 1: about a minute ago. Um, Like Kraft, I mean, here's
- 39:40Speaker 1: the thing, um, I mean, you think craft these all this,
- 39:44Speaker 1: you know, some of the local media and national media.
- 39:47Speaker 1: What's you know what everybody's saying. I mean, he's got
- 39:49Speaker 1: to be you know, he's just gotta be unbelievably upset
- 39:53Speaker 1: about Yeah, oh yeah, absolutely, this is he's a fan.
- 39:57Speaker 1: He started to see a lot of national guys sort
- 40:00Speaker 1: of posing the idea of trading Belichick, for example, Mike Florio,
- 40:08Speaker 1: you know, you know, do you do you let it?
- 40:10Speaker 1: Knowing that he's available, you know, and a lot of
- 40:13Speaker 1: people are sort of putting pieces together and starting to wonder,
- 40:18Speaker 1: is this like the first part of the plan, like
- 40:21Speaker 1: to start the divorce. Yeah. Raft famously said I'm not
- 40:27Speaker 1: gonna trade Tom Brady. You know, that's just I'm not
- 40:31Speaker 1: gonna do that. I'm gonna let him, you know, uh,
- 40:35Speaker 1: control his own fate. I think he believes the same
- 40:39Speaker 1: thing with Belichick. He would not do that and Belichick.
- 40:42Speaker 1: He'd be like, Okay, you're trading me to Carolina. Yeah,
- 40:44Speaker 1: I'm not going I'm quitting. I'm retiring. No, no, no, no,
- 40:48Speaker 1: that's not how a trade of a coach work. Yeah,
- 40:49Speaker 1: that's what I was about to ask. Trade work. A
- 40:52Speaker 1: trade of a coach is the coach has interest in
- 40:54Speaker 1: coaching somebody else, and you have interested in allowing that
- 40:58Speaker 1: to happen. Okay, so like you're not gonna, like, you're
- 41:00Speaker 1: not gonna banish him to the like the worst team
- 41:02Speaker 1: in the league, showed you Bill, all right, Okay, well
- 41:05Speaker 1: if that's somebody like I don't like Sean. I mean,
- 41:08Speaker 1: John Gruden wanted to coach Tampa Bay. But where's he
- 41:10Speaker 1: gonna want to go? Where does he want to go?
- 41:13Speaker 1: You know, other than the Giants and they've got a
- 41:15Speaker 1: good coach. Now, you know, I don't have the answer
- 41:18Speaker 1: to the question. But like, it's not like we're gonna
- 41:21Speaker 1: trade Richard Seymour to the Raiders because we think that's
- 41:23Speaker 1: the worst place that he could go. And that's it.
- 41:27Speaker 1: You have to trade it, obviously to a team that
- 41:29Speaker 1: needs a coach, you know, but that could be anybody. Well,
- 41:34Speaker 1: it could be I don't think there's gonna be that
- 41:36Speaker 1: many openings, but like I don't know, Jets, Yeah, Fred, Fred,
- 41:42Speaker 1: you were just staying a minute ago. You know, he
- 41:44Speaker 1: wouldn't want to be forced by Kraft. But I think,
- 41:48Speaker 1: like Kraft can't just go sit down with Belichick and
- 41:52Speaker 1: have Belichick there. You know, I'm gonna do what's best
- 41:54Speaker 1: for the team. Don't worry, you know, maybe not, there's
- 41:58Speaker 1: gotta be I mean, Crafty got to maybe he's got
- 42:01Speaker 1: to really put his foot down, but not maybe you know,
- 42:03Speaker 1: take him forth, But I mean he it can't be
- 42:05Speaker 1: what how it's been the last few years. It's got
- 42:07Speaker 1: to be craft has really got to have some input
- 42:10Speaker 1: to get some big changes. Yeah, yeah, I mean, if
- 42:14Speaker 1: I'm Robert Kraft, I want to know, Bill, what are
- 42:16Speaker 1: you gonna do? What's your plan? What's your plan? And
- 42:20Speaker 1: I want to know if what he wants to do too.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Like if I'm Robert Kraft, I can sit here and
- 42:25Speaker 1: I can say, like, don't you think we need to
- 42:27Speaker 1: do something about this offensive coordant? Well, I mean if
- 42:29Speaker 1: you really think, like I don't want him. I don't
- 42:32Speaker 1: want him coaching under those circumstances. I want somebody else. Yeah,
- 42:36Speaker 1: I think everybody's on the same page. If he disagrees.
- 42:38Speaker 1: If he disagrees, yeah, I don't want him going along
- 42:41Speaker 1: to get along, Like to you a point, Fred, I
- 42:43Speaker 1: want him to say I tried something, it didn't work, right,
- 42:46Speaker 1: I need to do something. I'm gonna move on, And
- 42:48Speaker 1: then i'd say, yeah, by all means, I think he's
- 42:51Speaker 1: better than the alternative. I just yeah, I just don't
- 42:55Speaker 1: think it's like a non non starter. Like I think
- 42:58Speaker 1: that there's some people that think, like it's ridiculous even
- 43:01Speaker 1: taught like that aspf W that we're getting that that's
- 43:03Speaker 1: just like, you know, killing us. We're even thinking about it,
- 43:08Speaker 1: like they've been an average team since Tom left, right, Yeah,
- 43:13Speaker 1: so at some point you have to think, well, can
- 43:16Speaker 1: I be an average team without Bill Belichick? Right? That's
- 43:19Speaker 1: the thing. Do I have to pay somebody whatever they're
- 43:21Speaker 1: paying Bill to be five hundred team? And what is
- 43:25Speaker 1: he doing to make me as good as? You know?
- 43:27Speaker 1: Like if I don't have him, I mean I'm going
- 43:30Speaker 1: to be four and thirteen, Right, I don't think that's
- 43:33Speaker 1: the case. Well, I think that's the indictment now that
- 43:36Speaker 1: people are coming to is that it's a poorly coach team.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I still think Bill is as smart, if not smarter,
- 43:41Speaker 1: than any coach out there. And you know, like you
- 43:43Speaker 1: make mistakes. This was a colossal one, you know, and
- 43:46Speaker 1: so you move on. I just think, like you know,
- 43:48Speaker 1: people are in the past, there's been controversial decisions made
- 43:52Speaker 1: over the last twenty years that you know, you never
- 43:54Speaker 1: could quite pin down the reasoning of, well, why, you know,
- 43:57Speaker 1: I'm thinking of like a lot of random ones. I mean,
- 44:00Speaker 1: you know, letting Chandler Jones, go, Wes Welker, just guys,
- 44:03Speaker 1: but maybe generally guys that have laughed. I'm sure you
- 44:05Speaker 1: know there are other examples I'm not thinking of, but
- 44:07Speaker 1: you know those ones that were like, okay, well we're
- 44:09Speaker 1: you know, we're in the AFC Championship last year, we're
- 44:11Speaker 1: probably going to be an AFC Championship. Okay, you know,
- 44:13Speaker 1: you've got kind of the benefit of the doubt. And
- 44:14Speaker 1: now you get to this point where it's like, look,
- 44:18Speaker 1: it wasn't like, you know, a player left and there
- 44:20Speaker 1: was some drop off at the position. There was a
- 44:22Speaker 1: complete overhaul of a side of the ball that you
- 44:25Speaker 1: oversaw that by all statistics, anybody who watches football says
- 44:31Speaker 1: that it was a failure, and I think people just
- 44:34Speaker 1: want him to be able to admit that, and I
- 44:36Speaker 1: think that would go a long way. Going back to
- 44:38Speaker 1: the earlier point though, I just wonder people are going
- 44:39Speaker 1: to get that satisfaction if they come out of it.
- 44:41Speaker 1: And you know, to Paul's point that we don't really
- 44:44Speaker 1: know if his hand was forced. If well, yeah, we
- 44:46Speaker 1: hired Bill Brian, what was that what you wanted? Did
- 44:48Speaker 1: you want to run it back? I don't. I just
- 44:50Speaker 1: think everybody, and going back to the mailback, everybody's losing
- 44:52Speaker 1: their mind thinking that Bill's just going to be like,
- 44:54Speaker 1: I'm doing what I always do. I'm making the decision.
- 44:56Speaker 1: We're gonna keep the same thing. This is what I
- 44:58Speaker 1: do and just shut up and sit back and and
- 45:00Speaker 1: you know, wait for it to work. But I don't
- 45:02Speaker 1: think people trust it. If that's the case, okay, and
- 45:07Speaker 1: Robert Craft allows that to happen and they start out
- 45:12Speaker 1: oh and five, or then you could see a mid
- 45:15Speaker 1: season firing. I mean that's another question. Fred is like,
- 45:18Speaker 1: you know, do you think that that they give themselves
- 45:20Speaker 1: an out? I mean, it's it's a really hard position
- 45:22Speaker 1: that Robert Craft is in right now with you know,
- 45:24Speaker 1: an all time coach and to Bill's done so much
- 45:30Speaker 1: for this team, you know, like do you want to
- 45:32Speaker 1: be the guy who oversaw the departures of both Brady
- 45:35Speaker 1: and Belichick? Like, no, that's that's a that's a really
- 45:37Speaker 1: hard right spot. I think I think for the organization
- 45:40Speaker 1: it would and I don't know how this ever really
- 45:42Speaker 1: ends up happening, but just a you know, a nice
- 45:44Speaker 1: depart like how do how does he's on board with
- 45:46Speaker 1: the departure and how it's all going to work? And
- 45:48Speaker 1: everybody has some good feelings and the fans are you know,
- 45:50Speaker 1: not saying things like oh, you know Bill hated craft,
- 45:53Speaker 1: you know, starting up with all the drama of like
- 45:55Speaker 1: could it just be peaceful and amicable? And everybody says, oh,
- 45:58Speaker 1: that was a nice ending. That's why a lot of people.
- 46:01Speaker 1: But I think that's why a lot of people talk
- 46:02Speaker 1: about this trade possibility. I think that's why Mike Florio
- 46:05Speaker 1: raised that. I think he was the first national guy
- 46:08Speaker 1: to thanks to pose that. And I'm not telling you
- 46:10Speaker 1: I want to I want him, I want but that's
- 46:12Speaker 1: not what That's not what we're talking about in this show.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Like to that emailer on ASKPFW that thinks that we're
- 46:18Speaker 1: killing Bill Belt. We're not. We're just wondering. The only
- 46:21Speaker 1: problem is the future, the near future going going to
- 46:25Speaker 1: look like and how might it be different? But you're
- 46:27Speaker 1: you know, your leverage is down though, if like you're
- 46:30Speaker 1: out there saying, Okay, we're willing to like when Bill,
- 46:32Speaker 1: when Bill came here from the Jets, the Jets didn't
- 46:35Speaker 1: want to let him go, you know, they wanted to
- 46:38Speaker 1: keep him, and Tagliabu had to come in and mediate
- 46:41Speaker 1: the whole thing, and he said, Okay, you know this
- 46:45Speaker 1: is what you you know, Robert, this is what you
- 46:47Speaker 1: have to give the Jets if you want him. And
- 46:49Speaker 1: the Jets had to agree to that. But like the
- 46:51Speaker 1: Jets didn't want to, you know, get rid of them. Yeah. Right,
- 46:54Speaker 1: This is why I'm saying, you're not trading Bill to
- 46:57Speaker 1: who you want him to go to. Bill is deciding
- 46:59Speaker 1: he wants to go and you're letting him. Yeah, that's like,
- 47:04Speaker 1: so it ends up being the same. But I mean,
- 47:07Speaker 1: I also think I know you're gonna push back on this.
- 47:11Speaker 1: I don't think you're getting nearly what you think you're
- 47:12Speaker 1: getting for seventy one year old coach. And what I mean, Yeah,
- 47:14Speaker 1: if you have, you know, like the other team, whoever
- 47:18Speaker 1: it is, you know, knows you want to get rid
- 47:20Speaker 1: of him. Well, I don't care if that they don't
- 47:22Speaker 1: think you want to get rid of him. You're not
- 47:24Speaker 1: getting what you think you're getting for a seventy one
- 47:26Speaker 1: year old coach. Yeah. Well, and I mean he certainly
- 47:29Speaker 1: has the name brand. But I mean, how do you
- 47:32Speaker 1: not look at what the Patriots have done post Brady
- 47:34Speaker 1: and say, oh, he's gonna go in and get us
- 47:36Speaker 1: a new quarterback and it's gonna work here when it
- 47:38Speaker 1: didn't work in a place where he has everything already
- 47:41Speaker 1: in position like that, that'd be funny. He goes to
- 47:44Speaker 1: another team, he goes, oh, and by the way, Matt
- 47:46Speaker 1: Patricia is gonna be our offensive. Well, I don't mean
- 47:50Speaker 1: that's I mean joking aside though, I mean, but that's
- 47:53Speaker 1: part of it too. Like when he goes, if he
- 47:55Speaker 1: were to go somewhere, he's bringing a party with him,
- 47:57Speaker 1: and things are going to change in that building for
- 47:59Speaker 1: you know, in a lot of different ways. Prepared to
- 48:01Speaker 1: sign up. Let's let's let's say it's ten years ago,
- 48:04Speaker 1: but we're going to use the current climate, and so
- 48:06Speaker 1: the teams are structured the way they are, Right, Carolina
- 48:10Speaker 1: got a job opening. Um so ten years ago, Carolina
- 48:16Speaker 1: might have said, yeah, we'll give you two first round picks,
- 48:19Speaker 1: maybe a second Today, it doesn't make any sense for
- 48:25Speaker 1: either party. It doesn't make any sense for Bill to
- 48:27Speaker 1: go to Carolina without without any structure, at the age
- 48:30Speaker 1: of seventy one and say I'm gonna be around long
- 48:34Speaker 1: enough to fix this. And it doesn't make any sense
- 48:37Speaker 1: for Carolina to say, he's seventy one. By the time
- 48:40Speaker 1: he's ready, we're ready to contend. He's got to be
- 48:43Speaker 1: pretty much close to hanging up the whistle. Where did
- 48:46Speaker 1: Bill start his coaching career Baltimore? The Colts. Yeah, who's
- 48:50Speaker 1: probably gonna need a coach next year? They won't probably
- 48:54Speaker 1: they have an opening. And who who would probably would
- 48:58Speaker 1: do something crazy as an owner? Right? Yeah, I think
- 49:03Speaker 1: he's crazy. I just say, like, maybe you'll get a
- 49:05Speaker 1: first round pick. Maybe. I don't know. I think earth say,
- 49:09Speaker 1: might give you a little bit more than that. I don't,
- 49:12Speaker 1: I don't, and I don't. Glorio said, if you could
- 49:14Speaker 1: get a first round pick, I think that's what you're
- 49:17Speaker 1: looking at. I don't. But would Bill want to go
- 49:20Speaker 1: to Indianapolis. No, I don't know where. He wouldn't think
- 49:22Speaker 1: you'd want to go. I like, I think that. I
- 49:25Speaker 1: think New York makes it. Like if if if the
- 49:27Speaker 1: Jets were to say, like, you know, we were whatever
- 49:31Speaker 1: we were, you know, and we have this, we have
- 49:34Speaker 1: a playoff caliber defense, we have a lot of weapons
- 49:38Speaker 1: on offense. We just have to figure out the situation
- 49:41Speaker 1: at quarterback. But I mean, it's already a team on
- 49:44Speaker 1: the cusp of the playoffs. They're probably not gonna make it,
- 49:46Speaker 1: but they're on the cusp, right, so they don't like
- 49:48Speaker 1: Robert Sala there, I wouldn't Why did you watch the
- 49:51Speaker 1: end of the game the other day, right, what did
- 49:54Speaker 1: he do talk about a guy over his skis? Oh
- 49:56Speaker 1: my god? One forty nine left and all three time outs.
- 50:00Speaker 1: They had a call time out with two seconds left
- 50:02Speaker 1: to kick a fifty eight yard field goal, and they
- 50:04Speaker 1: still had another time out that they never used. That's
- 50:07Speaker 1: gross negligence, as my as I like to say, coaching negligence. Okay,
- 50:14Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't think he's gonna start over though.
- 50:16Speaker 1: That's just I don't think he is either. I'm just
- 50:17Speaker 1: throwing crap out there. Yeah, like, I don't think he's
- 50:19Speaker 1: gonna want to start over. But to me, the Jets
- 50:22Speaker 1: aren't starting over. Yeah, there's a lot in play. Carolina
- 50:25Speaker 1: would be starting over. Could we could we tack to
- 50:28Speaker 1: the your observation about yesterday about practice yesterday? Oh you uh?
- 50:33Speaker 1: I like that? You go something that struck me in
- 50:35Speaker 1: a little bit more to the off air show they do.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Sometimes I say things off here. I mean I think, yeah,
- 50:43Speaker 1: I don't. I'm just kidding. It was something I thought of. Um,
- 50:45Speaker 1: So do you remember a couple weeks ago after that
- 50:47Speaker 1: Buffalo game, Freddie, the Thursday night game that we lost
- 50:50Speaker 1: here Um, Andrew Callahan of The Herald was on one
- 50:54Speaker 1: of the talk shows at night at NBC Sports Boston,
- 50:59Speaker 1: all the shows they used to have me on all
- 51:00Speaker 1: the time, and he said that he had heard from
- 51:05Speaker 1: a lot of players that they were very disappointed to
- 51:08Speaker 1: learn the day after the Buffalo game that they weren't
- 51:11Speaker 1: practicing and they didn't think they practiced enough. They got
- 51:15Speaker 1: like that weekend off. He thought that the players were,
- 51:18Speaker 1: you know, confused, they wanted they expected to practice on
- 51:22Speaker 1: the Friday or come in and whatever. And I kind
- 51:25Speaker 1: of didn't think that much of that because they played
- 51:27Speaker 1: on Thanksgiving Thursday. The next Thursday, you know, it's kind
- 51:31Speaker 1: of seems like common practice to get some time off
- 51:35Speaker 1: after that Thursday game. You have, in this case, eleven
- 51:37Speaker 1: days before your next game on the Monday night game.
- 51:40Speaker 1: I didn't think that much of that. Were you a
- 51:42Speaker 1: little surprised they didn't practice yesterday because I was. I was, Yeah,
- 51:47Speaker 1: I mean it should have been winning. Yesterday was Wednesday,
- 51:49Speaker 1: and you are parlance. Yeah, yeah, players were off. The
- 51:52Speaker 1: players were off. I thought that was I thought that
- 51:56Speaker 1: was interesting. Yeah, it's usually three days of practice. Three
- 51:59Speaker 1: days are I just been a walkthrough? They have two
- 52:01Speaker 1: days of practice in a walkthrough according to the schedule. Yeah,
- 52:05Speaker 1: I was a little bit surprised because then, you know,
- 52:08Speaker 1: it's a Saturday game, so you pick up a day,
- 52:11Speaker 1: you know next week, you know, so like, yeah, you're
- 52:15Speaker 1: gonna be tired, but you're gonna pick up a day
- 52:16Speaker 1: and maybe you get you give him Sunday and Monday
- 52:19Speaker 1: off and Tuesday. You know, you could really give him
- 52:22Speaker 1: three days off after this and then report back on
- 52:25Speaker 1: Wednesday for the Sunday game. So yeah, I was a
- 52:28Speaker 1: little surprised. So that was just something I thought of
- 52:32Speaker 1: you know, is it? Does it have something to do
- 52:34Speaker 1: with him? You know it is? You know, he's like,
- 52:38Speaker 1: it's not like out of school, does he's seventy. He
- 52:42Speaker 1: once said that he didn't see himself doing that, right.
- 52:45Speaker 1: He feels differently about it now, obviously, which is he
- 52:47Speaker 1: never said it. And I get that, like a lot
- 52:49Speaker 1: of us have done that. You think things, you say things,
- 52:52Speaker 1: and when you get older or wiser or whatever, you
- 52:55Speaker 1: think differently. I'm not killing him for saying it, but
- 52:58Speaker 1: the reason he probably said it is because he couldn't
- 53:00Speaker 1: see himself being energized enough to do it. And I
- 53:03Speaker 1: wonder if he's not just wondering again. Yeah, I mean,
- 53:07Speaker 1: he seems in good shape, and it seems remarkably consistent. Yeah,
- 53:12Speaker 1: I mean, I hope I'm in I hope I look
- 53:14Speaker 1: like you know, believe it or not. I hope I
- 53:16Speaker 1: look like him when I'm seventy. Yeah, you know, you'll
- 53:18Speaker 1: look better than that when you're seventy. But I when
- 53:21Speaker 1: I watch him, I do think he's remarkably consistent. Like
- 53:25Speaker 1: I still see a lot of the same things. Hear,
- 53:28Speaker 1: the same things, observe at practice, the same stuff. Like
- 53:32Speaker 1: he looks Yeah, he looks very similar to me. And
- 53:35Speaker 1: that's the other that's the thing, Like you say, oh,
- 53:37Speaker 1: you know, another team wouldn't give you what you think
- 53:39Speaker 1: they're gonna give you. I think he looks and you
- 53:41Speaker 1: know it has nothing to do with the I don't
- 53:44Speaker 1: know why you're fixating on the condition he is, Mike said,
- 53:46Speaker 1: I mean mentally, and when Brady left it has not
- 53:49Speaker 1: been the same. No, it hasn't. So that's why you're
- 53:52Speaker 1: not gonna get what your plus. I just don't think
- 53:55Speaker 1: there's a huge market for a seventy one year old coach,
- 53:57Speaker 1: which he'll be next year. Why are you going to
- 54:01Speaker 1: give up huge assets for your future for a guy
- 54:04Speaker 1: who's not going to be there for your future. Yeah, right,
- 54:08Speaker 1: it's it's it's intriguing, it really is. It's it's going
- 54:11Speaker 1: to be a fascinating off season. Evans back from practice,
- 54:17Speaker 1: and when we come back from the break, we're going
- 54:20Speaker 1: to hear all about what he witnessed out on the
- 54:23Speaker 1: practice field, and we'll get to that right after this. Verizon,

- 1:05:42Speaker 1: dozen fire trucks blocking the passing lane because this guy
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: literally there's like you know how some of the medians
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: have like they dip down, but there's like vegetation and
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: trees and stuff. This guy drove his car into the
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: trees about five minutes later. And then earlier this week
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: we had that thing down one our webmaster got stuck
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: in it too. It was Monday or Tuesday. Yeah, well, hey,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: how going traffic on the threes? That's another great moment
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: from Great. We're back here on Patriots had filtered and
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Evan is back from practice? All right? Was there a
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: lot to see today? Evan? Well, first of all, I
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: gotta tell you my traffic story, just kidding, stop it
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: so out of Patriots practice today, and they did, in
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: fact practice today, as you all snarkily asked me when
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: I walked in, No Jalen Mills he remains absent with
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: that groin injury, and no DeVante Parker, who remains absent
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: with that concussion. Now, Mills, I would mention I believe
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: suffered some sort of a setback because he was limited
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: in practice on Wednesday and Thursday last week, then a
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: DMP on Friday then ruled out for the game, and
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: that's just a vibe I got was that he was
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: tracking towards coming back and then practice in Arizona and
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: clearly hit some sort of a setback. So that's not
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: great news for the Patriots. Is there any chance just
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: because you didn't see him that he might end up
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: being out there? There's a chance, But on the estimated
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: injury report yesterday, he would have been a DNP if
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: they had had practiced on Tuesday and then and then
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: today he's not out there, So okay, I don't know. Well,
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: we'll wait and see. They always do some some things
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: every once in a while with the injury report and
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: practice and whatnot. But we'll see, I will I'm not
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: trying to make this too big of a deal, but
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: Jake Bailey being back, I actually think is a factor,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: especially for a team that just needs every yard it
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: can get on a football field right now, kickoffs have
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: been a huge problem, and every single time they've kicked
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: off over the last month that Bailey has been out,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: I'm holding my breath right Oh God, like this is good.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: And they did give up one against Minnesota where he
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: returned it for a touchdown and they end up losing
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: that game by a touchdown, and that's a huge play
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: in the game. So I think Bailey being back, his
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: touchback rate is over sixty percent. The guys that they
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: have now can't even reach the end zone, I think
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: is a really a big thing I do. And I
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: also wonder how big of a thing it is for
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Nick Folk to have his holder back as well. Not
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: that Folk has been terrible or anything, but that consistency
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: too coming back as well, I think as a factor
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: here too, especially like I said, for a team, every point,
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: every hidden yard, all of that stuff matters right now
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: for the Patriots. So there's no one that played last
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: game that's out correct, That's that's some good news. No
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: new injuries. So Damon Harris was out there, Jack Joe
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Owns was out there, and everybody else that participated in
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: the game on Sunday. Those two obviously didn't but everybody
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: else was out there. Okay, all right? Um outdoors lower
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: practice field? Lower? Yeah? Lower? Is the mood different when
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: they moved to the lower field at all? With the players?
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: I like the lower field personally. The players I think
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: could care less. But it's much easier to see at
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: the lower field than it is at the training camp
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: fields when you're taking attendance and stuff like that. It's
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: much easier to get a scope of the land on
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: the lower fields because the players are literally right in
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: front of you, right. I posted a picture on Twitter
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: where you can see the defensive linemen and linebackers are
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: probably ten feet from me as they're stretching. So it's
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: much easier. So the mood of the media would have
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: been up, Yeah, I like lower field. That's that's my
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: that's my preference. Not for training camp though, because we
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: have the hill. Right in the hill is key because
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: you get the higher vantage point where I have been
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: at some practices for camp on the lower field and
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: you can't see anything. It's like in Vegas, as Mike remembers,
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Vegas, Yes, brutal. I didn't see anything.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: Three fields, like all you got with the one in
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: front of the other. Pads today, I believe, so, yes, yeah, pads.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: They've been doing uppers and then like knee braces on
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: the lowers, and so I think that that's their version,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: the NFL's version, I would say, of padded practices in
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: week sixteen, okay, yeah, all right, all right, anything else
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: that you want to let us know. No, I did
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: speak to Bill or if not personally, but we did
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: hear from Bill. Yeah, we bugged out. We started we
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: went to Bill Live and he was going over the
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Cincinnati scouting, so we we bugged out anything after the
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: first ten minutes. Yeah, I think that what was interesting
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: is and I brought this up yesterday and I'm going
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: to keep bringing it up because it's it's bugging me.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie is that every single time now
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: anybody has a real question, not just oh Bill, what
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: do you think of DJ Reader? Or Oh Bill, you
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: know what, what's your opinion on you know, Franco Harris
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: is passing rip by the way. But I'm just saying,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: you know anything, that's it though, because I don't know
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: that's a different day, not on the day, the time,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: off air, on air stuff. You you So, anytime anybody
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: asked him any sort of real question, it's it's the
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: same thing, right, It's the classic Bill deflection or you know,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: non answer or whatever. And it's like I'm not asking
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: him to to change his stripes, right, Like I know
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: it's Bill Belichick. We know we're not going to get
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: much out of him, but when you come off a
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: loss like that and you come on and your season
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: is going down the tubes like it is, like, I
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: just wish that there was a little bit more accountability,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: That's all. So did guys eventually ask about last game today?
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Some people ask, you know, Mike Reas asked, what's the
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: what's the vibe like of the players and how you
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: guys kind of as a team overcoming what happened at
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: the end of last game and trying to put that
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: behind you, And he just said, basically, we're onto Cincinnati again. Well,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: that's what my question would have been. Is there any
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: analogy to be drawn from like how you guys felt
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: after that fourteen loss in Kansas City and how you
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: moved on to this week? You know, I think it's
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: more akin to the Miami miracle, probably just because of
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: the way that the game ended. Yeah, but I think
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: his point was just that we're we're not even we're
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: turning the page, we're not even thinking about that. But
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: it's human nature to think about it, like we're all
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: still thinking about it, Like I'm sure all everybody in
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: that locker room is still thinking about it in some respect,
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Like it's that's just human nature. Want to tell Evan
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: about our revelation. Yeah, well yeah, that's the back We're
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: onto Cincinnati hoodie that Bill was wearing it the interesting So,
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: I mean he's certainly he's pulling out all the stops.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: You said, a team that needs everything they can get,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: he's he's dipping into the hoodie database to get really,
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: but you're a good teammate. That was that was well
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: done right there. I like it so here like the
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: whole like the devastation of the loss thing, Like if
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: they were let's say that the same thing happened to them,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: but you know, it dropped them from it dropped until
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: eleven and three, Like, it's not even a factor. It's
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: a factor because of the desperation that it well, the
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: opportunity that was there in front of them. You know,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: it puts them now in a situation where they basically,
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: not theoretically, but basically have to win all three games,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: and all three games that they're gonna be underdogs in
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: most likely, and on top of that, the bizarre nature
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: of the loss, Like it's it's not just the bizarre
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: nature of the loss, it's the situation. But Paul, in
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: that scenario eleven and three. They would have been playing well,
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: they would have been winning games. It would have won
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: some of those games, right, you know. And this season though,
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: it's it's different because on sad Saturday, I'm not gonna
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: say it's because of the devastating loss. I'm gonna say
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: that's the way they played Sunday. It's the way they
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: played the previous Monday. It was the way they played
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: the previous Thursday. We've kind of got a pattern going
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: here offense. However, if they pull out a win, you
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: will say, Okay, they rallied, they rallied. After that, I'm
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: sure you will. Well, what what else can you say? Well,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: I want to watch the game, and I'll tell you
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: what I said. Okay, Like I know, like against Minnesota,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: I would say, yeah, there was office today thinking Cincinnati
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: completely gave you the game. No, no, no, I'm not
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: gonna say that either. I didn't see it. But I
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: think they just play well and they win and they
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: beat Cincinnati, then that'd be good. Then. You know, coming
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: off that loss, you say, okay, they're still listening to
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: their coach. They rallied, right, But would you say that
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: if it was like what the Raiders did on Sunday. No,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: I Cincinnati plays like the Raiders did on Sunday and
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: the Patriots find a way to win the game. Right, Yeah,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: it's great that they were alive. That's the bottom line.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: I don't care about style points, but but Raiders have
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: been doing that all season, like Evan and exactly, Evan
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: and I talked about Minnesota. Yeah, we saw something different
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: that day. Unfortunately haven't seen it since. But like that
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: was a bad past defense that they made look like
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: a bad past defense, right. I think the difference is
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: between letting go of the rope and that that is
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: it to me? Right, It's like, how what's their compete
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: level on Saturday? If they look like the same team
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: that they've looked like all year and lose to the
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: Bengals because of all the reasons that they've lost all
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: these games this year, that I'm gonna say, well, it's
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: just it's but that the people on my shows, as
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Fred likes to say, we'll say that, well they just quit,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: they gave up, and I'll say, no, no, this is
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: who they've played all yet if they get blown out
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: by the Bengals and they gave up, right, That's why
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I like to say I'd like to see the game
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: before I tell you what it means after the game. Yeah,
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: that's why. I just think there's something new too, and
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: like modern social media, that this has permeated every bit
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: of culture and news right now and it's embarrassed sing
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: And I just I wonder what twenty something athletes, like
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: these guys who are very image conscious, what effect that
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: has had on some of these guys, as you know,
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: not just it's one thing when the Patriots lose and
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: oh my gosh, the Patriots aren't the same, but this
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: is something different where it just feels like an embarrassing loss.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: And that's why I just I wonder if this is
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: a little bit different this time in terms of what
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: impact it could possibly have if that makes sense with
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: the way things are they going to tocktail or are
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: they gonna I mean, in the past, of this happened
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: in the nineties, there'd be some newspaper articles about how
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: the game ended. You'd have an NFL film's footage that
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: you would eventually get unearthed. But you know, now it's
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: like Twitter, TikTok, Instagram. Everything is about how ridiculous the
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: Patriots looked and what a bad play that was about Patricia.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: That's all I see you on every like on my
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: shows again, Like it's that whole drama, like that soap
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: opera of will Bill be forced or will will will
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Bill want to make a change, you know, And then
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: what we talk up before you got here ev some
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: of the national stuff with like Florio sort of suggesting
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: that because you know, maybe this is like kind of
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: the groundwork for moving on and do they you know,
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: maybe try to get trade them. Yeah, because to be fair, like,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: let's just say that that is what I'm hearing. Let's
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: just say that crazy play at the end didn't happen
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: and the Patriots won the game in overtime. Let's just
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: say that you'd still be saying this offense doesn't look right.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: You'd have to right, oh yeah, oh yeah. I mean
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: you're probably be talking more about it, because yeah, it
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: wasn't overshadowed by that last year. And I net, like
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: I say, I never like eliminated. I've seen too many
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: things with Belichick teams for twenty I tried really hard
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: to say there is a zero percent chance of ex happening.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: I do not expect them to tuck tail. I expect
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: what Evan kind of described kind of a continuation of
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: the listless football that they've played for fourteen weeks. Yeah,
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: that to me will not necessarily be an like an
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: indication that they've quit. I think that's what they are,
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like and I do, and
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: I know it like I It won't be felger Mans
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: because they're not in, but I know that will be
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: the storyline on talk radio? Was there Adam? Well, you know,
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: they lost the game, and clearly they just started to
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: pack it in and like, you know, and maybe that
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: will be true. I will not necessarily take it that way,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: and I don't expect them to. I expect the effort
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: to be the same as it's been every other week.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: All right, let's get back to the phones. They're stacked
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: up here. We'll go to Morgan in Vermont. What's up Morgan? Morgan?
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: Moregan Chuck had good sci fi movie. By the way,
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: if you're yeah with Mike, didn't. Eduardo's in California? What's
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: up in Eduardo? Eduardo? I'm not blaming it on Hardy anymore.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: This is a Fred issue. I mean, Todd's in Canada.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: What's up Todd? Yeah? Are you back? Are you back
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: in the homeland. I'm I'm gonna say this time. Are
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: you there permanently? Are you visiting? Just visiting? So I
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: pretty impressed by the price of everything here, even though
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: it's in Canadian dollars, it's pretty darn cheap. So okay, Canada,
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: It's nice to see it. Now. My big thing here
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: is this, this season started out going sideway when we
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: saw that the offense, which we thought going into even
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: the preseason, was going to be something that was countable,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: and the defense was kind of supposed to be in
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: the progress, and it seems to have progressed. It's just
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: it seems like this something is just wrong. Like if
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: if the coach has actually called that play for the
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: last play, they didn't back even in there. They should
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: be doing the wildcat or something like, why have them
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: on the fielding the liability? And yeah, sure enough it
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: turned out. It just something feels wrong with this whole year,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: the way that they've developed the team, the way they
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: set stuff up, the coaching. Yeah, I don't know, I
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: can't put my finger exactly what I feel about it.
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: It's just something's off. Oh yeah, do you guys get
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: the same feeling like they're not there. The compete's not there.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: I disagree with the compete's not there, but I do
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: agree that something's off. You're not what compete not there anymore,
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: especially with Mac. I think Max's broken. Well, I think
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: he's trying to compete. I mean, I think Mac broke
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: the coach. Yeah uh yeah, but but something is definitely off. Again,
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: I say, we're not watching a typical NFL offense. Like
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: they just can't do the things that a normal offense
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: can do, you know, at any level. You know, they
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: can run the ball pretty well, but they they're passing
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: offense is not an NFL passing offense. No, it's not
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: on film even resembling an NFL I mean, you're sometimes
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: I watch this offense on tape and I'm like, what
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: is the route combination? Like, because there's guys on top
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: of each other and then there's you know, guys that
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: are some guys are running like a quick game concept
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: and other guys are running verticals, And I'm like, what
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: either is this the design of the play or are
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: the players just not running the design properly? Or what
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: going on? But this doesn't even look like and you're
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: wondering why you know, and like I go back to
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: when Parcels was here, and you know, back then, like
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: I'd get information after the fact and so many times
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: like you think you knew what was a reason why,
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: and then you'd find out what actually and you'd be like, oh,
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: I never thought of that, you know. So this season
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: it's the same thing. But the only problem is we're
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: probably never going to find out, you know. But it
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: could be anything. It could be like Mac is like
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: calling things out at the line wrong and confusing that
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: it could be things like that happening. Yeah. Well but
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: if Mac is doing that, well why don't we go
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: back to Zappy? It makes no sense to keep him
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: in there. If he's so broken that he's not even
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: reading the field and being able to do an analysis
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: of the defense and call the right audibles, then why
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: is he there? Like he needs to be fixed, and
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: he might not be putting on the field might not
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: be fixing him. It might be making it worse. Yeah,
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: I don't actually think that that's what it isn't. I know.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: I come off as a Mac defender a lot, but
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: I think that maybe I think the main thing that
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: I see with Max frustrations it's like, let's go to
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: the red zone sequence, right, it's third down and there's
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: some sort of confusion on the sideline about the play
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: or somebody's not line up properly and they call time
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: out and it wipes out a touchdown. And my read
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: of max reaction was like, now what, Like, now, what's
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: the problem? Now? Like we ran a play, it worked,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: I threw a touchdown to Jacobe, and I have to
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: turn over and go back to the sideline to you
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: guys because somebody was off on their alignment by one yard,
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: Like what? And look, I think from a big picture standpoint,
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: these things should not be happening in week fifteen. That's
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: totally fair, And these are things that should be ironed
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: out in training camp, let alone in week fifteen of
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: the season. But sometimes you just have to let the
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: players play, Like sometimes you need to back off and
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: just let the players play. And I think where Mac
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: gets frustrated in Arizona when he was waving off because
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: they're in the two minutes. Drin Patrici is trying to
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: call plays into her is here and he's like, we
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: have this scripted already, Like this is like I know
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: what we're supposed to be doing back off. I called
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: for a win here and I really actually thought we
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: were going to get it. You almost got it, all right,
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: great shows, Thank you God, Thanks Todd, Harry Chris. Happy holidays.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: Oh my good Back in Canada. I got a lot
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: of emails at web radio at Patriot dot. You haven't
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: ready to read because I have a quick question. Fac
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: ahead back to the practice report. Um, you know, so
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Harris is back out there? Yes, how did you think
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: he looked? Like? Did you? I mean yeah, I mean
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: I know you won't. There's sixty five players out there. Yeah,
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: maybe you didn't. You know you're thirty seven? Check, Like,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: so you didn't really notice? No, not much. I just
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: I'm kind of curious because, like we talked about the
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: whole letting go of the rope thing, and I think
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: Evans Jalen Mills thing is right on. I think that
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: you hypothetical makes perfect sense to me, Like was limited
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: limited then all of a sudden back to DNP and
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: and listed as out on Friday. Um, so my guess
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: is he didn't get a setback. I am you know
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: he got a thigh injury and this is did he
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: missed three? Now? Damon Harris three injury three games? Would
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: this be the third? Would be? Okay? So pending free
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: agent don't want to play at less than one hundred percent. Yeah,
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: it's same thing. Yeah, Isaiah Win, I think has left
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: the reservation. But that that's the kinds of the guy.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: You know. These are the guys that I talk about
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: with you all the time. Now. In fairness, we usually
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: have a chuckle about it because we're talking about like
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: the Colts or somebody else who's you know, out of
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: playoff contention and watch them scurry to the life rafts
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: and you know they're on IR. They're banged up because
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: they don't want to go into the off season banged up,
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: worst needing surgery or whatever. I don't know what Damian
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Harris's situation is, but I do know he's a penning
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: free agent and it makes me wonder. Yeah, and he
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: makes me wonder. It was four games now, so so
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: now it's like an IR issue of why didn't we
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: just shut him down? But I mean, only Win missed
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: three games then they put him on IR. So I
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: from what I understand about David David Harris is injured
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: during the Minnesota game on Thanksgiving and it's a contusion, right,
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: it's a thigh bruise essentially, So that's a totally I
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: could see how that could be a week to week
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: injury and just how does it respond and when he
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: gets out there and he practices, how does it respond
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: to practice and things like that. I can see why
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: I think a lot of people always jumped, oh well,
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: why didn't we just put him on IR right away?
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: And it's because sometimes it's not like it's a boken
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: bron or torn acl where it's like he's done right.
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm not blaming the team, no, And I'm
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: not blaming the team at all. I think the team
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: probably expected him to be back. I mean, I would
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: just say to a guy who's going to be a
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: free agent, but it's injury issues throughout, And there's part
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: of me that says, he's somebody that just needs to
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: get back out there and prove that he has some
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: degree of resilience, because if you're going to sign this
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: guy in the offseason, you certainly can't plan on bringing
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: him in. And you know we're gonna lean heavily on
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: Damian harrisy. He's gonna have to have approve it year.
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: Probably Jack and Anaba writes in Although I'm very disappointed
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: with the performance of the Patriots this season, and I
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: hold Belichick accountable for fixing the problems with this team,
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I have not, for one instant wanted Belichick gone. It's ridiculous.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: That's what I agree with everything about that email, except
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: for the last two words ridiculous. It's ridiculous. It's not
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: ridiculous if you think about it, It's not ridiculous. The
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: rest of the email on board with. I think that
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: he's responsible for what's going on on offense, and I
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: don't want to make a change. I don't think there's
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: anything wrong with that. But I also don't think if
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: Evan you think differently and they think and you think
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: Sean Payton would be better, and you think you want
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: to go in that direct, I don't think that's ridiculous.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: If you don't, I mean, at what point would you
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: think it isn't ridiculous? Like what more? What more he
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: needs to I really think there is And I'm not
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: picking on this particular emailer or the SPFW guy that
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: you and I keep referencing that finger wagged us um.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: I don't think there's anything that could happen because he
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: won six titles. Yeah, and you know Doula, you know,
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: one a million games and one of Super Bowls and
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: then didn't win anything with Dan Marino. And how many
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: years did they they go on with that, And I'm
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: not telling you don Shula stinks, right. Is obviously one
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: of the greatest coaches of all time. I would concur
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: with your overrated nature. I liked the snark. He's coming around,
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: Mike Evan is coming around. They thought he was he
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: went to the Super Bowl one time with Dan Marines.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: I thought he was overrated period, like his whole career time,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: the entirety of his career, I thought he was great.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: He lost the I mean, never mind. Maybe that's something
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: about the greatest coaches of all time. They lose in
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: a situation where no one thought possible they could lose
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: his win their Lifetime Achievement Award. So it happens when
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: you coach for thirty years. Andrews in LA after hearing
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: Bill's interview post game, I recall what Bill said before
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: the season. I think it went something like, if it
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: goes wrong, you can blame it on me, or something
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: to that effect. Gotta be honest, that postgame interview sounded
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: a whole lot like the only thing wrong was the
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: players making mistakes and not executing. Sorry, Bill, I'm here
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: to demand you take ownership of the Foxborough High School
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: football team you coached and put together ps. I feel
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: terrible for Jacoby. Hopefully he shakes it off and has
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: a great career after that one hiccup. I agree with.
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: I mean, I've been saying this for two days now.
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: I wholeheartedly agree with the first part of that email.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: That mistakes were made on the play. Is putting it
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: all on the players. Matt can't reach the end zone
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: right and Fred after you left, Evan was killing. There
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: was very little accountability. Hail Mary is too far from
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: fifty five yards. Give me a break. Yesterday, Do we
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: talk to the defensive play caller for the final drive
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: of the game that the Raiders went march right down
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: the field and you called vanilla defense for the entire drive? Nope?
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: Did we call talk to the offensive play caller? Nope?
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: Angry journalist here, Um, It's just that people want us
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: to hold these guys accountable, right like they get it
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: all the time on Twitter. Why aren't you asking to
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: ask questions? Because I work here. If I could ask
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: Steve Belichick, why you know, why did you call standard
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: four man rush cover two three times in a row
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: on the final drive against the Raiders and watch them
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: march down the field, I would ask, But he's not available,
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: so I can't ask him. Somebody writing in thanks Paul
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: zach Uh. We didn't really mention this, and I don't
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: know if it's a big deal, but he said. Following
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: the lost Trent Brown liked an image on Instagram that
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: was in regards to the pages needing to call Tom
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Brady or Jimmy g Correct. Do you think this is
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: indicative of how the locker room feels about mat performance
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: or rather a one off situation, Like I don't even.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: I don't know. I think Trent Brown has big fingers, yeah,
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: like he likes I mean, that's not an acc I
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know if that's indicative of a problem. Yeah,
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: I'm not going to do that, but I don't do
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: the social media. I hate sometimes like something on social
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: to keep it as a placeholder so that like you
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: can come back to it, or gets things like that
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: on your feet. You're crazy, kids, Do you do know?
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: All I know is is like yesterday I happen to
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: like look at the people I was following briefly, and
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: I was like, why did I follow this again? You know,
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: like this stuff happens, like if you're just scrolling through
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: and your finger hits it and he's got gigantic hands
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: and fingers. So like, I'm not telling you I've never
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: liked something by accident, because I have. Sometimes you just
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: like you scroll and like yeah, then you can unlike no,
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: they you liked it. But sometimes you's like scrolling through
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: your feet on your phone and you know your your
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: thumb hits the like button by accident. I didn't like that.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: I don't think that's a I'm sorry, I don't think
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: that's an accident. That's like when I'm at was it
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: an accident when he said I want to go home?
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: How many accidents can happen? Now, that was not an
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: accident because that was a long week, man, But that
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: I'm not saying it was necessarily accident. I'm just not
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: going to accurate. Yeah, I'm just not gonna take the
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: fact that he did that as being a huge symptom
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: of a problem in the lock right, correct, Like, I
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: don't know that that's that's that's I just imagining, like
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: I'm mad at Paul, so I go to social media
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: and find someone like saying bad stuff about Paul and
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: just liking everything it liked it like, oh, no, he
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: probably did that by accident. No what, No, I don't
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: know Paul would I don't know, just just a tweet
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: I saw pat an Agawam. One common denominator with this
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: team going back from twenty nineteen till now is they've
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: played like absolute crap down the stretch, especially against good opponents.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: The twenty twenty season finale against the Jets. Notwithstanding, what
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: can we chalk it up to? Is it conditioning, talent, coaching, scheme, apathy,
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: or a little bit of all the above. But I
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: don't know. I mean, I think it's one of the
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: great questions because I think that's one of the tenets
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: of Patriot fans, that that you came to believe over
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: the dynasty of that they're gonna play their best football
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: at the end, that all the work that they put
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: in it's all going to come together and after Thanksgiving,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: this is going to be the team. And they haven't
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: been that, yeah, you know, for I mean, they haven't
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: played their best ball. I mean I know, and I
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: mean Paul has a good point that you know they
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: start to play good teams the last couple of years
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: down the stretch, off the healthy guys problem. You know,
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: when the division's gotten a lot better. So who you're
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: usually playing at the end of the season. Correct the
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: division you haven't been able to play instead of the
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: cupcakes to end the twenty eighteen season, which was I
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: believe Buffalo and the Jets. Yes, right, correct, Buffalo and
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: a cupcake the last two years when you're playings anymore,
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: and now this this particularly, the Jets aren't a cupcake.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: The Jets are probably your two best wins. Yeah, Tyler
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: and Nadik now living in Providence has a game. I'll
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: provide a specific stat category and two players, and you
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: guess who has the higher or lower stat for twenty
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: twenty two. All staff provided by NFL dot com. Ready
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: thank you for some more passing touchdowns, Mac Jones or
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: Brock Purty Purty Purty No, Mac, Mac has seven. Brock
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: figured I figured if you were asking higher completion percentage
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: Bailey Zappy or Gino Smith. I hate completion percentage. Horrible
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: stat Gino Smith, Gino has seventy one point four. Zappy
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: has seventy point six league right, Gino Smith? Yeah? Fun fact,
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: these quarterbacks have the two highest completion percentages in twenty
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: twenty two of any player with more than ten attempts.
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: Irrelevant stat More rushes of twenty plus yards Romandra Stevenson
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: or Dalvin Cook of twenty plus yep, Oh, I bet
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: you that's pretty close, but I'll go Stevenson. Yeah, anyone else.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: Romandra has seven, Dalvin Cook has five. I figured that'd
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: be close, right. More sacks Josh Uche or Chris Jones.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: Josh it should be Oha lends a pass rushing in.
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: Jones has eleven, has ten and a hey, get there,
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: so he only got credited for half on someday I
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: thought he had a half sacks also done? Well, why
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: why this aw? You either sacked him or you didn't. Well,
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: what if you both there? You're not both there at
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: the same time? All right? And I would also say
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: that both of them should just get a sack, But
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: then you have too many sacks. Half sacks? Stuff many sacks?
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: Should there be a category for cause sacks? Well, hurt,
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: I could tell you, like the tackle totals is you
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: know I used to always rant to you about tackling
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: the sheets. Yeah, I usually bad sign right London Fletcher,
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: Right man. No, I mean there were guys that are like,
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: and I'm not saying they're not really good players, like
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: you know, Zach Thomas. She just threw out there. But like,
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: I don't care that a guy had two hundred tackles
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: because I know how they they tabulate them. It's like
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: to whatever just said, Like a guy will execute his job,
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: he'll get in the gap and the cause the running
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: backs back. He gets credit for a tackle, the guy
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: who tackles him gets credit for a tackle. If he
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: goes out of bounce, the guy who's closest to him
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: gets credit. Like tackles are handed out like candy. And
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: I don't think you could do that with sacks because
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: there's only so many times the quarterback actually goes down,
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: so you can only get credited for one, right, Otherwise,
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: you know, teams would end up with like a hundred
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: sacks at the end of the year. But I just
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: think they're these like little minute stat things like That's
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: why I like completion percentage, hate it, hate it. I
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: agree field goals made Nick Folk or justin Tucker Folk,
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: I would think flat focus thirty Tucker has twenty nine. Yeah. See,
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: because the Ravens have had big time red zone troubles too,
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: except that they get to the red zone. Although my
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: football experience only extends as far as playing left bench
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: for my high school team, I feel like this one's
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: for you. Then. I feel like the shockingly low number
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: of passing touchdowns by Mac this season is enough of
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: a reason for Craft to require that Bill makes a
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: change to this offseason, either at quarterback or row set.
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: I cannot imagine a scenario with Mac and Matt both
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: come back next season in these roles and we witnessed
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: dracs drastic improvement on the field. It's gonna be one
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: of those standoffs at this meeting. It's like, so, Bill,
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: how'd you how do you think the season win? All? Right? No?
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: Think coming along? So any moves you're thinking about her? No?
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: I don't know, not really. I could just see you,
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: So Bill, you know what do you think? And it's
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: just like white noise, you know, help me, mister Kraft,
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: You're my only hole. What do you think? H help me,
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: mister Kraft. Joe and Warwick, New York Um I was
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: pretty upset, of course, on Sunday, But the thing that
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: made me most angry was that Matt Patricia didn't stand up,
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: do the right thing and take the blame for the
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: play call in the last play. It wasn't play call.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: They didn't call that. He put the players in a
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: bad position. There was very little chance of this play
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: being yes, oh okay, well maybe I'm sorry. I know
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: the draw. Yeah, he's saying the draw. He should have
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: just called for a neel down. He should have been
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: a stand up guy protected his players. Instead, he let
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: the players take the brunt of the blame. Belichick. Belichick
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: should tell Patricia Frado, I know it was you. Yeah,
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: the draw was like to me, Bill's idea. But I
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: think when you have a play that's unconventional, unconventional at
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: a time, that's the head coach. Like when you go,
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: like if they had gone for it on fourth down
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: there and you know, ultimately they failed and then the
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: Raiders kicked a field goal, you think that was Matt
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: Patricia said, no, no, Bill, We're just gonna go for
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: a fourth down here. It's the same like, yeah, every
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: team in the league runs a hail Mary on that play.
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: Or would they take a knee? No, one runs a
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: draw yea from that point. Now, if you're on your
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: own twenty, I've seen it, you know what I mean,
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: I've seen on your own twenty they might just run
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: a draw or whatever. But but they're not running a
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: draw from midfield. The only factor you're not considering is
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: that maybe we have a guy call in plays that
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: has no idea what he's doing and it's just downs
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: off at the wall. I know what, I wouldn't have
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: been able to defend the draw. No, I just to me,
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: I think again, we don't know. I put that more
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: on Bill. The fact that they didn't just take a
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: knee or run of Haile merity was on Bill. I
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: just I don't know how you couldn't put everything on Bill.
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: I mean, and we said it in the offseason going
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: in of you know, holding our nose and hoping that
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: this was somehow going to work. But I mean just saying,
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: how is Matt Patricia in a position to succeed? I mean, you,
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: offensive coordinators and offensive line coaches get killed even when
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: they're good. You know, like even you come out of
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: a game and people like, oh that play call, though
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: Daniel from people like there was just no way that
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: Matt Patricia, I mean, he had to walk the narrow
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: STI lines in. I mean, he hasn't been good, but
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: I just don't know how you you you focus all
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: your iro on him instead of the guy that set
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: this whole situation up. And I mean I think Fred
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: said like that that Matt should have said no. I
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: mean that's probably the only thing you can really that
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: you can really argue that, like he should have said,
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: I'm not qualified for this. It's not going to help
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: my career to come in here and be the punching
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: bag for the entire offense, whether the line plays bad
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: or the play calling is bad. You know, it's all
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: on him this year. And to be clear, someone told me, yeah,
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: uh Burton, Burton Island right soon. I guess it's possible
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: we could win out, but let's face it, the season
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: likely ended in the closing minutes of Sunday's debacle. I'm
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: glad Evan brought up the Jacoby interview yesterday. Here's a
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: guy who made the most bone headed play imaginable, and
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: all the reporters were trying a dozen different ways to
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: get him to deflect blame and he wouldn't bite in
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: the slightest. Myers is a stand up guy and always
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: gives it his all. And I really hope we resigned him,
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: no matter what. Jaded Old Perillo says, I hope they
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: resigned him. Jed, what did you say? No, that part
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: is accurate, Jaded Old Perillo, that part is accurate. But
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: I want to resign Jacoby Myers, it adds. I don't
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: think they will that whole resigning too. I don't think
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: they will, but I would absolutely wouldn't mind. It's going
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: to be a great story third or fourth receiver. I
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: just don't want him to be the the number one
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: receiver that he's been the last two seasons? Is that
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: ask him too much? Sulman pretty much the same. You know,
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: Myers taking the blame for it all, but he says,
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: I blame Belichick for hiring Patrician Judge. I'm feeling it's
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: time to turn the page on Belichick. He's an all
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: time great, but the game has passed him by. I
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: want to point out to remind folks. After the Miami miracle,
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: Belichick said they needed to coach that better this time,
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: though mistakes were made. Sounds like he's pointing at the players.
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: He's going to lose the locker room. If he hasn't already,
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: it may have. I mean, I do think that Bill
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: has evolved over his time here, and you know, took
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: taking strides to you know, manage the generational shift that's
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: happened under him. But I mean, I just I can't
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: help but wonder if the message from that generation of
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: a head coach is still connecting and inspiring that the
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: younger people in the generation now that are playing. And
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: you know when I mean, he got in the league
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: twenty years ago, this system and his style of coaching
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: and all that had been molded seventies, eighties, nineties, I
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: mean we're in a new time now. I mean, I'd
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: love to say that that he could coach forever, but
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: I mean, I think we all know when you got
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: some old guy that you don't really get what he's
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: talking about. We're not the same generation, we don't speak
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: the same language anymore. I just I wonder if that's,
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: you know, part of the bigger issue of the teams
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: just not coming together at the end of the season
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: anymore like they kind of used to. Let's go back
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: to the phones eight five five Pats five hundred. We'll
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: go to Justin in Virginia. Hey, Justine, what's going on? Guys? Hey,
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: I want to kind of piggy back up. Well, Mike
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: just said, um, I think when you when the staff
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: around a head coach like that is all like, are
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: all young? Um, Josh McDaniel types. Well, I mean just
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: McDaniel wasn't young, but like you know what I mean,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: like young coaches that are on the rise in vogue,
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: coaches that can kind of work. But the situation we
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: have is, you know the situation we have. We've talking
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: about it all year. You know what I'm saying. How
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: do you think our offensive mess compares of the Falcons
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: One they had a couple of years when they had
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: the offensive coach that they had to move up into
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: the press box. I think his name is Steve Sarkasian,
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: and they had a Matt Ryan and all of them.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: How do you how do you think what we have
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: compared to that? I mean, Steve Sarcasian is a great coach.
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: So they didn't happen. Well, that's the same guy that
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: they needed to move up into the press box and
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: it didn't work for like the first ten games. What
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: do you mean moved up to the press box. A
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: lot of coaches called players from the press box. No,
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: but you don't remember half that year it wasn't work.
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: I'm not saying it was don't remember them. I mean,
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: I'm not saying it wasn't a good year. But like,
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: if Steve Sarcasian he's coaching at Texas, the head coach
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: of Texas right now, if he wants to come coach
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: the Patriots offensive, like please come, like with open arms.
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: I don't remember what happened in Atlanta. I'm just saying
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: year schematically, it seemed like it wasn't working. So Steve
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: Skarkasian was the offensive coordinator for Mac Jones at Alabama
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: and his last year at Bama. So so, but forget
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: about the names. I think the point that Carl is
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: trying to make is that things didn't go well that year.
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: Is there any correlation? Is that what you're saying? Well, yeah,
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean the correlation to me is
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: the old Eagles. But yeah, how do you just think
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: those seasons kind of went like like I don't have
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: any I like, I mean, I don't mean to be disrespectful.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: I don't really have any knowledge. I just know that
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: to talk about what happened in Atlanta ten years ago.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: We broke them in sixteen, but this was long before that. Yeah,
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: so they were already broken early Matt Ryan early Matt Ryan. Yeah,
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: it sounds no, no, no, no, this was after that.
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: So Kyle Shanahan was the offensive coordinator in the Super
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: Bowl for the Falcons. Steve Sarkasian came in after Kyle. Okay, yeah,
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: I don't. I don't remember what happened, So I don't.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: I don't either. He was only there for like a
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: year or two. Their offense is not good that year.
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: But I think the the difference is when you look
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: at bad offenses like around the league that other than
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: the Patriots, they still have offensive coaches coaching offense, right,
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: And that's why it's they might not have good players
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: to execute the schemes that they're running, but their schemes
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: are at least making sense in the spacing and the
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: details and all like all that type of stuff is
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: at least resembling an NFL football team. They might just
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: not have good players, you know that. That's that's the
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: biggest thing when you look at some of the teams
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: that are at the bottom of the league in offense
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: right now, that that's the difference, right is between the
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: Patriots and them, is that the Patriots are a disjointed
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: mess on offense and these other teams I think just
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: don't have the players to be a better offense. Thanks Justin.
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: Let's go to U Eldred in North Carolina. Hey, Aldred, big, Hey, Hey,
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: I heard part of the part of the thing this afternoon.
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: If somebody says something about somebody off if they offer
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: Bill off of mister craft broke round for bial, you
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: can he get one no pro football talk with someone said,
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: you know, would you be interested in trading Bill to
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: a place where he wanted to a place that he
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: wanted to go and coach. It's obviously a far fetched hypothetical,
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: but hypothetical. I would just wonder it. I was wondering
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: me called. I was thinking, why would they? Why would
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: why would the other team? Why would the other team
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: go up a first round pick? Yeah, yeah, I think
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: that's a fair question to ask. This is my argument
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: against Daddy is why would you you know, are you
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: looking at well first twenty some years the last sick
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: no talent, so if you got to how your talent
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: most times, alder eld Eldred, you're telling me that if
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: the Carolina Panthers like, the Carolina Panthers wouldn't want Bill
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: Belichick to be their head coach. If I was in
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: charge of the Carolina Panthers, I wouldn't get up a
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: first round pick for him. I'm not talking about the
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: time I was in charge of the Chargers. I would
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: get up a first round I'm not talking about the trade.
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: I just forget take the parameters of the trade for
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: how much of an absolute we think here is a
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: dumpster the Patriots of seven and seven. All right, what's
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: been going on in Carolina over six and eight, over
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: the last couple of years is what if I deal
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: what Bill is for the first five years, you're gonna
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: be our head coach, and then you're going might be
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: five and nine. You know what, what if like the
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: deal is for the first five years Bill, you're gonna
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: be our head coach, don't and then you're gonna be
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: interested in him being in my coach or five years
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: I'm not, and then you're gonna be the ga F. Yeah,
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: I don't want to be in the GM at all right,
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: No think I just I would do it, Like if
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: I if it was like the Chargers and I felt
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: like I have enough talent to be better than I
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: am right now, I just need a coach, then I
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: would do it. But I don't know about like the Panthers.
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: I'm just saying I don't know if I trust him
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: to be the guy that's going to pick the next quarterback.
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: I'm not necessarily saying I think you're bringing up all
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: fair points. I'm more looking at it of like if
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: you're a Carolina and you want to make a splash
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: head coach higher and that like that owner and that
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: owner would apply you mentioned Temper would do it. Temper,
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: you know the Colts. I would like Houston with Nick
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: going to work with Nick Kissario again and Houston. Like
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: I'm just talking possibilities teams. That just so the Patriots.
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: He was only here for four years. Do you think
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: he helped the Patriots? Yeah, I don't, but he would
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: he left because he wanted to leave, Okay, because he
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: couldn't only here for four years, but I would you
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: want Parls now for the next four years? Now, what
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: is he eighty? But that's like you're at the end,
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: Like when he was done in Dallas, would you wanted
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: to showing any signs of I don't think you're watching then,
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: Like they haven't been very well coached for a couple
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: of years. I think he would help any team. Parcels
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: is also a known program builder, right, Like this is
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: a guy that that came into many different teams and
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: from and got them on a on a decent path. Right.
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: My whole thing with with other teams wanting Bill is
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: more about it just being Bill, right. I mean, you're
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: you're you're making probably the higher of them. That was
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: the biggest thing people said about Parcels. He gave them
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: instant credibility, right, A more of a team gave them
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: instant credibility. Right. But like I wouldn't have wanted, um,
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: I wouldn't have wanted Parcels to come to my team
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: when he was done with Dallas. Yeah, but like when
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: Parcels came to the Patriots in ninety three. Absolutely, And
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: actually one more question. Sure, I know if I'd been
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: beating us around the bush all the time, but I
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: know we got three games left, but I don't think
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: we got a chance in Hald winning them. So my
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: question is next year. Just in Kate, what if Craft
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: and Bill do have that top and he'd run their
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: things back the way it is. How do you think
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: the rock locker room in the playoffs? Wag? I don't
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: think it can happen. Can't do it? Yeah you can't. Yeah,
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: but it wouldn't be good. I think then you would
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: be at an impass. I think then you'd be had
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: to come to Jesus moment. Yepkay, alright, alright, aldred Um
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: skip rights. In the overall frustration has been building. Not
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: to rehash Bill versus Tom, but those of us who
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: were okay siding with Bill was because the Patriots would
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: play smart football and have a game plan advantage almost
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: every week. That has not been the case over the
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: last three years, with this weekend being the latest example.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: While I would not fire Bill, I am at the
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: point that if some team offered Kraft a sweetheart deal
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: for him, I do think it should be considered and
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: Bill wouldn't have to want to go there. Did what did?
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: What did the Patriots give up for Bill? Initially, we'll
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: getting to the Jets. I was the first round pick,
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: just one, No, it was a first round, a fourth
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: round and then the Jets gave back a fifth round, right,
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: I believe, And I think they had to give the
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: Jets like a million dollars or something like that might
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: have been something like that, But like that's my point. Like, so,
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: I mean you're saying now you it would be more
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: because he's won six titles. I'm saying it will be
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: less because he's seventy one years old. Yeah, when he's
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: going to be the next you know, I think I
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: just think that also the marketing, you know, like not
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: that he's going to go out and give speeches for you,
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: but the idea that, wow, our team who stinks you know,
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: probably just signed Bill Belichick, that your fans are, you're excited,
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: and that means that's that means money to a team.
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: You know, that's season ticket sales, right, I mean remember
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: you know when when you know, Parcelsforce came, there was
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: a bumping season ticket sales. When Kraft bought the team,
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: they sold out, you know, so it means it means
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: money too, not just wins. Well, that's part of my
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: question is is how much does that Bill Belichick name
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: brand mean to the Crafts right now? You know, and
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: how much does that mean to the Patriots. Yeah something
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: for I don't know. Yeah, what's the ticket situation around
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: the league? Not every team has sold out the season tickets.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: Are a lot of teams that their people wake up
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: every day thinking how do we sell more tickets. We've
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: been very lucky to not be in that position, you know,
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: because it changes your life as a marketing person that
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: that's your main goal sell tickets. They just come to
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: you now, Yeah, well we don't have to do anything.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: You just renew him. What's the waiting list like right
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: now for a patient seasonsty? I mean I have to
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: admit I got season tickets because they signed because they
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: hired Bill Parsons. That's that's when I became a season
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: ticket hold. I should probably get off the winning list
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: now does I work here? Obviously for the quality of
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: the Shaddy from Houston, we all know that the offensive
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: coaching is historically bad and changes need to be made
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: in the off season. However, I wanted to ask what
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: the defense of Mac Jones is now that he's faced
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: two poor defenses in back to back weeks and did
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: absolutely nothing. When Zappy torched Cleveland, all we heard was
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: that it was the thirtieth defense in Dvoa, et cetera.
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: I'm aware that Zappy is not the answer and that
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: he isn't a vast improved unmac, But if the staff
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: wants to make the playoffs, would it be worth throwing
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: in Zappy for the last three games? I mean absolutely,
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: as Evan will tell you. Yes, Evan, please detail that
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: I got done. Can I just say one thing in
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: terms of the Zappy thing and listen, the numbers are
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: what they are, Okay, that's the one outlier of the season.
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: They scored five touchdowns that day, Like, clearly something happened.
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: It was the one time that Matt Patricia maybe he
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: bumped his head that day and it weren't like I'll
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: tell you what happened. Every other game, including all of
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: the other ones with Zappy, the offense didn't look like
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: it did against Cleveland. Against Cleveland they actually called this
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: thing called play action, and they called it often, and
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: then every other head every other game of the season
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: they've called I think last week they called two play
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: action passes. But like against Green Bay, when Zappy played
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: the vast majority of the game, they couldn't really move
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: the ball, they couldn't score. They scored on the action
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: against Against Detroit, they got a bunch of field goals
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: that were set up by fourth down stops by the defense,
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: and they I think they scored one touchdown against Chicago. Yeah,
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: he came in and gave him an immediate lift and
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: then did not action, then did nothing the entirety of
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: the second half. Cleveland is the outlier. They had a
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: really good offensive game in Cleveland. It was it because
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: of Zappy. I don't know, maybe it was Maybe if
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: Zappy plays the last three games, the offense will look better. Sorry,
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: but I just don't think this. I don't think the
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: magic thing is the quarterback. I think there's so many
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: more issues offensive. So he's just the quarterback. He's part
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: of it, but not the only. What I'm gonna say
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: about the Zappy thing. Okay, so the best to me,
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: the best case scenario for the Patriots next season is
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: that they get a real offensive coordinator that gets Mack
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: back on track. Correct Like that's that's the most ideal thing.
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: So with that in mind, if you bench Mac for
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: the last week, for you lost him, it's over, like
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: he's his everything's gone, like his confidence is gone. Heck,
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: he he might want to be gone. Right at that point, like,
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: if you're gonna get that anyway, if you're gonna bench
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: him at the end of the year, now when the
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: whole operation has been an absolute mess, him included, but
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: it's not just been him that's been a mess, and
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: then you're gonna try to roll it back with him
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: next year and and try to get you know, coach
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: him back up. I just think at that point you've
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: you've already basically broken broken him ninety five percent of
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: the way. But if you do that, then you then
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: that you lost him, and then you're back at square one.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: You're getting that email ready if okay, so he's playing
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: this week, and Bill said said as much. Okay, but
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: would there be any way Yeah, that's true. It wasn't
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: wasn't defended him. Um is there any way is there
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: anything to be gained by? Like, because you have to
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: have some doubts, right, You're you say, like, I know
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: you come off as a mac apologist, but even you
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: would have doubts, Right, I have doubts. So I think
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: we all have some doubts to varying degrees. So Bill
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: has to two, right, would there be any benefit to saying, yeah,
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: I know I risk losing the guy. But you know what,
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: I gotta make that risk because I gotta find out
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: if this other kid, you know, was it just a
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: flash in the pan? Was it just because of better
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: play calls? Was it just because of the opponent? Was
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: all the different things that we say, yeah, but were
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: they all yeah? Butts? Or does the kid have something?
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: And maybe you play him the last two games and
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: you find out, yeah, he stinks too, or he goes
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: out there and it's like, yeah, we didn't win the games,
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: but it looked a lot better. We were functional. But
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: to I don't, I don't know, like to what end
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: that you have a legitimate or you have a legitimate competition,
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: not necessarily going into the it proves that Mac not
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: doing it like we're giving him. You know again, don't
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: change the offense when you put ZAPPI in. Do the
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: exact same thing you would if Mac was. And if
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: it looks better with Zappy, it may not means necessarily
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: as Zappy's good, It just means that Mac right, like
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: I'll give I'll give you one like and this is
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: and I don't believe in that, but I'm just no, no,
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: I don't believe in all this I'm giving you like
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: hypotheticals in like, so like if you lose them, okay,
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: and I agree with you, guys, you can't do it
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: because you lose them. But what if like they just
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: look at it and say, like, like, what are we losing? Right?
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: And I might be able to gain I might be
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: able I might be able to find out I'm gaining
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: knowledge perfectly put, I might find out that the other
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: guy has more than I thought, because I just again,
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: I feel like, with the right supporting cast, with the
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: right coach, that Mac Jones might not be in this
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: elite top five quarterback ever, but I think he can
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: be a stable NFL starter, And I think that that's
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: worth keeping, keeping him bought into being here. It's worth
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: it because the alternative is is somebody that you know,
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: it's like the it's the old family guy in mystery box, right, Like, Okay,
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: So we go back into the first round and we
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: take another quarterback and then hopefully that guy you know,
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: like we're doing it all over. Yeah, I'm just if
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: he's if we can get him back to where he
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: was last year and he's Kirk Cousins, Derek Carr or
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: something like that. For you, and that's better than nothing.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: I'm operating under the assumption that they have decided that
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: that's probably not going to happen. So like if I
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: lose them, yeah, I don't really think I have anything
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: to lose that and I don't think that will happen.
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: I think Mac Jones, barring an injury, is going to
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: play the last three games and business as usual. But yeah,
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: you never know, all right. What I do know is
