- 0:02Speaker 1: The Pumpkin Princess, a not-scary Halloween bedtime story. Once upon
- 0:08Speaker 1: a time, in a beautiful kingdom surrounded by rolling hills
- 0:12Speaker 1: and tall trees, lived a kind girl named Princess Autumn.
- 0:16Speaker 1: She loved everything about the month of October. She loved
- 0:20Speaker 1: the crisp, cool air that made her cheeks pink, the
- 0:24Speaker 1: crunchy golden leaves under her warm boots, and the sweet
- 0:27Speaker 1: smell of hot apple cider baking in the royal kitchens.
- 0:31Speaker 1: But there was one thing Princess Autumn did not like
- 0:34Speaker 1: about October. The long, dark shadows. As Halloween approached, the
- 0:39Speaker 1: sun began to go down much earlier. By the time
- 0:43Speaker 1: dinner was ready, the village streets were already completely dark.
- 0:47Speaker 1: The little children in the kingdom started to feel afraid.
- 0:50Speaker 1: The autumn wind would blow through the trees, making strange,
- 0:54Speaker 1: howling noises. The bare branches of the oak trees looked
- 0:58Speaker 1: like lawns. Scratchy fingers tapping against the windows. The toddlers
- 1:03Speaker 1: in the village hid under their cozy, heavy blankets and cried.
- 1:08Speaker 1: They did not want to wear their colorful costumes, and
- 1:10Speaker 1: they definitely did not want to go out trick-or-treating in
- 1:13Speaker 1: the dark. Halloween should be a time for fun, laughter,
- 1:17Speaker 1: and sweet treats, not for being afraid. Princess Autumn thought
- 1:21Speaker 1: to herself as she looked out her window. She decided
- 1:24Speaker 1: right then and there that she needed to create a
- 1:27Speaker 1: completely not scary Halloween for everyone in her kingdom. The
- 1:31Speaker 1: next morning, the sun was shining brightly. Princess Autumn put
- 1:35Speaker 1: on her favorite orange velvet dress and her sturdy riding boots.
- 1:40Speaker 1: She walked straight out of the castle and into the
- 1:43Speaker 1: royal gardens. The garden was filled with hundreds of pumpkins
- 1:46Speaker 1: resting on thick green vines. There were pumpkins of all
- 1:50Speaker 1: shapes and sizes. Some were tall and skinny, looking like
- 1:55Speaker 1: funny yellow squashes. Some were tiny and green, but the
- 1:59Speaker 1: princess was looking for a very special one. She walked
- 2:02Speaker 1: up and down the muddy paths until she finally found it.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Resting perfectly in the middle of a sunbeam was the biggest, roundest,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and brightest orange pumpkin in the entire patch. It looked
- 2:15Speaker 1: as soft, warm, and cheerful as a setting sun. Princess
- 2:20Speaker 1: Autumn smiled. She carefully rolled the giant pumpkin all the
- 2:24Speaker 1: way out of the patch and into the center of
- 2:26Speaker 1: the castle courtyard. She sent a messenger to gather all
- 2:30Speaker 1: the children of the village. They arrived looking nervous, holding
- 2:34Speaker 1: tightly to their parents' hands. Do not be afraid of
- 2:37Speaker 1: the dark. The princess smiled gently, kneeling down to be
- 2:42Speaker 1: at eye level with them. We're going to make some
- 2:44Speaker 1: special magic today. Instead of carving a spooky monster face
- 2:48Speaker 1: with scary, sharp teeth, Princess Autumn took a small tool
- 2:53Speaker 1: and carved two big, friendly, perfectly round circle eyes. Then,
- 2:59Speaker 1: she carved a tiny, cute triangle nose in the center. Finally,
- 3:04Speaker 1: she carved the biggest, widest, and happiest smile anyone had
- 3:08Speaker 1: ever seen. She placed a small, thick candle inside the
- 3:12Speaker 1: pumpkin and carefully lit it. As the flame caught, the
- 3:16Speaker 1: happy pumpkin glowed from the inside out with a soft,
- 3:20Speaker 1: golden light. It did not look spooky at all. It
- 3:23Speaker 1: looked exactly like a warm, glowing friend waiting to say hello.
- 3:28Speaker 1: This is nice, whispered a little boy dressed in a fluffy,
- 3:32Speaker 1: soft bunny costume, stepping forward. It is a very happy pumpkin.
- 3:37Speaker 1: But Princess Autumn knew that one happy pumpkin was not
- 3:40Speaker 1: enough to light up the entire dark village. So... she
- 3:44Speaker 1: invited all the children to join in the fun. Together,
- 3:48Speaker 1: they picked dozens of round, orange pumpkins from the royal garden.
- 3:53Speaker 1: The courtyard was filled with laughter as they carved happy smiles,
- 3:57Speaker 1: silly faces sticking their tongues out, and even a funny
- 4:00Speaker 1: pumpkin with a winking eye. When the sun finally went
- 4:04Speaker 1: down on Halloween night, the village was not dark, cold,
- 4:08Speaker 1: or scary anymore. Every single street, doorstep, and window was
- 4:13Speaker 1: lined with bright, glowing, smiling pumpkins. The golden light from
- 4:18Speaker 1: the candles chased away every single spooky shadow. The wind
- 4:22Speaker 1: didn't sound like howling anymore. With the warm lights glowing,
- 4:27Speaker 1: it just sounded like a gentle, soothing lullaby singing the
- 4:30Speaker 1: town to sleep. The children excitedly put on their cute costumes.
- 4:35Speaker 1: There were little buzzing bumblebees, brave knights in shiny cardboard armor,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and tiny fairies with glittery wings. They walked safely from
- 4:44Speaker 1: house to house, laughing, singing, and collecting sweet treats in
- 4:48Speaker 1: their little baskets. Whenever a child felt even a little
- 4:51Speaker 1: bit nervous about the dark night, they just looked down
- 4:54Speaker 1: the street at the glowing orange pumpkins and smiled right
- 4:58Speaker 1: back at them. Thanks to the clever and kind Princess Autumn,
- 5:02Speaker 1: it was the best, most magical, and completely not scary
- 5:06Speaker 1: Halloween the kingdom had ever seen. When it was time
- 5:10Speaker 1: for bed, the children went to sleep feeling perfectly safe, warm,
- 5:15Speaker 1: and wonderfully happy.
