- 0:42OK reminder if you guys want to give us some feedback on how you
- 0:45feel about celebrity ambassadorships, there is a link
- 0:47down below. We are collecting some data
- 0:51points, I suppose for a deep dive that we're preparing.
- 0:54And please help us get to 1000 Spotify star ratings.
- 0:57We are so close. I know I posted about it on the
- 0:59community tab yesterday if you guys follow us on YouTube.
- 1:02But honestly, so many more of you guys listen to the pod then
- 1:05have rated us, which I understand like I understand the
- 1:07struggle and I understand that not all of you guys will have
- 1:09Spotify. But if you do and you haven't
- 1:11rated us, please us. We are really trying to get to
- 1:141000. OK, some big news just came out
- 1:17of Sydney. This is not like a formal story,
- 1:19but I am personally so excited. Hey you fan fest is coming to
- 1:23Sydney in August, August 15th and they just announced the
- 1:27lineup for any of the bravo lovers.
- 1:29You guys are going to fucking die.
- 1:31Cynthia Bailey, Meredith Marks, Juliet from Real Housewives of
- 1:35London, Dorinda from Real Housewives of New York, Captain
- 1:40Jason Craig Conover, which is crazy, and Shep, They're all
- 1:44gonna be here. I'm so excited.
- 1:47It's gonna be insane, and Dorinda and Meredith are gonna
- 1:50be doing DJ sets. Honestly, put me out to pasture
- 1:54after that because I will die happy.
- 1:56That is going to be so iconic. So if you guys are in Sydney, I
- 1:59am absolutely gonna be there if you guys love Bravo.
- 2:02I just needed to share that with you guys.
- 2:04They're coming. Also, fun little anecdotal story
- 2:07for you guys. I don't know how many people
- 2:08know this. I think I've talked about it
- 2:10here and there on the pod, but Shep actually came to my
- 2:14birthday party a few years ago. If you guys watch Southern
- 2:18charms, you guys know the season like after he broke up with
- 2:20Taylor and then he did that big like Australian trip with
- 2:22Austin. So they came to Australia and
- 2:25one of my best friends, she saw that Shep in Austin were in
- 2:27Sydney and she just like DM Shep and was like, Hey, what's going
- 2:30on in Bondi tonight? Like let me take you guys out.
- 2:33So she partied with them for like the full week.
- 2:35She was literally like their tour guide in Sydney and then
- 2:38Austin went to the Gold Coast to do something and Shep was still
- 2:41in Sydney. And anyways, it was my birthday
- 2:43party and she was like, I'm going to bring Shep to your
- 2:45birthday party. And so we all like and out on
- 2:47Oxford St. in Sydney and it was so much fun.
- 2:50It was crazy. We have all these pictures like
- 2:512:00 AM just like such disasters with like chef.
- 2:55Like it's actually the weirdest story of all time, but it's
- 2:57super fun. So that's my fun little story
- 3:00about partying with Chef. All right, let's get into the
- 3:02stories for today. The first story that I have for
- 3:05you guys today. I don't know what's going on.
- 3:07This collection of people makes no sense to me, but here we go.
- 3:11So Harry Daniels and Cat's Eye have seemingly had a falling out
- 3:15and Tricia Paytas was somehow involved.
- 3:19Harry Daniels. He's a singer and he's a TikTok
- 3:21star. He got really famous around like
- 3:232022 for his series where he essentially ambushes singers on
- 3:27the street at red carpets or backstage.
- 3:30You guys know it. Like he sings really loudly and
- 3:32really poorly at the singers and then he captures their reaction.
- 3:36And of course now because he's famous, a lot of times they'll
- 3:39recognize him or sometimes he's doing partnerships to promote
- 3:41their tour or their album or whatever.
- 3:43Like it's staged now. But that is like how he started
- 3:46out. So we all know that Mana from
- 3:48Cat's Eye has been on hiatus. I've covered this twice already
- 3:52on Mini, but the gist of it is that Mana has taken this like
- 3:54mental health hiatus, or at least that's how it's been
- 3:57framed to us. And she has kind of hinted that
- 3:59there's, like, more to this story than what we know.
- 4:02And that's been made publicly available.
- 4:04But the way that it's been framed to us is that it's about
- 4:07the general pressures of being a pop star.
- 4:10So last week, Trisha Paytas was on her podcast Just Trish, and
- 4:14she was chatting with her producer Oscar.
- 4:16And they were saying that Harry Daniels had shared quote off the
- 4:21record T about Mana with Oscar saying that it had been plaguing
- 4:25him and that he was relieved to finally know what happened.
- 4:28And that's because Harry Daniels is seemingly friends with
- 4:31several of the group members. A couple days later, they
- 4:33clarified that it seems like Harry might not fully know all
- 4:36the details, but Tricia implied that he framed it like Mana was
- 4:39out, like fully out, not just on hiatus.
- 4:42And they joked that the group should release a statement
- 4:45before Harry does. Tricia in this says he's he's as
- 4:49in Harry. OK, so he's telling everyone
- 4:52Tana's like, he told me we were in a corner at a birthday party.
- 4:55I mean, honestly, I'm kind of confused because I don't really
- 4:58know everybody involved. And I'm kind of like, I don't
- 5:00really know what's happening. I'm trying to keep up.
- 5:02I'm kind of like, I don't really know what's going on.
- 5:03But yeah, he told Tana at like Justin's party in the corner and
- 5:07she's like, we literally talked 2 minutes and just told me the
- 5:09whole tea. So yes, Tricia and Oscar are
- 5:12basically saying saying that Harry is outing his friend's
- 5:14business to like anyone who will listen essentially.
- 5:17Then on April 26th, Harry addressed the whole situation on
- 5:20his own podcast and he had Oscar and Trisha on the podcast and he
- 5:25mentioned a falling out with friends and confirmed he saw
- 5:27MENA at Coachella saying she was sad she couldn't or didn't
- 5:31perform with the group, though he admitted he didn't ask her
- 5:34many questions. And then days later, Cat Eye
- 5:36members Laura and Megan unfollowed Harry on Instagram
- 5:40and he unfollowed them back. He then briefly posted and
- 5:44deleted this like photo and video dump with Megan captioned
- 5:48Let's work it out on the remix. And this is where people got
- 5:51really mad because not only did he tag her main account in this,
- 5:56but he also tagged her finsta. So he like outed her finsta.
- 6:00And I think we all know by now most celebrities probably have
- 6:03finsta accounts so that they can creep without hopefully ever
- 6:08being exposed. So he edited the caption, took
- 6:10out her finsta and then he ended up deleting the post all
- 6:13together. But it is on Twitter so I will
- 6:15put it on the screen. But if you guys you know don't
- 6:18watch and you want to see it, you can find it on Twitter.
- 6:20OK so the main theory behind why he would post this dumb in the
- 6:241st place and also tag her Finn stuff was to prove to Cat's Eye
- 6:28fans who were like coming for him and calling him a liar and
- 6:30saying that he's doing all of this for clout and stuff that he
- 6:33actually is close with them and that he would know the T
- 6:36presumably. But regardless, this has drummed
- 6:39up so much drama in the fandom. So since Manon's hiatus, the
- 6:43other members have apparently received a lot of backlash and
- 6:46hate from the fandom because of some of the presumed reasons for
- 6:49her departure. With one of the main reasons
- 6:52being that Mana is the only black member of the group and so
- 6:55she was possibly mistreated by the label or the group members
- 6:58themselves. So now with the Harry situation,
- 7:01the fandom is seemingly coming for the members even harder
- 7:04because a lot of people feel like this proves that Laura and
- 7:07Megan and possibly others were disrespecting her.
- 7:09Like disrespecting Mana by talking behind her back and like
- 7:12spreading this gossip. I actually think Harry should be
- 7:16the one getting the heat for this.
- 7:18I read this comment on Reddit. I'm going to read it to you
- 7:20because I agree with it. But the gist of it is like, I
- 7:23don't think it's crazy that these women would be sharing
- 7:27with people who they are close with, like what's going on in
- 7:31their professional life. So somebody wrote, even if Megan
- 7:34or Laura opened up to someone about Manoj hiatus, that's
- 7:37within their right to do so. Everybody has been hating on all
- 7:40of the girls since Manoj went on hiatus.
- 7:41It affects them because it affects the group as a whole.
- 7:44You are allowed to offhandedly mention a situation with your
- 7:47job to a friend. And at the end of the day, like,
- 7:48we still don't really know what happened.
- 7:51So the idea that they were like, gossiping behind her back or
- 7:54being even more disrespectful, Like we don't know the context
- 7:57in which this information was shared.
- 7:58We don't even know the context really in which she left the
- 8:01group or like, is on hiatus from the group.
- 8:03So there's just a lot of, like, presumptions going on.
- 8:06And the reason being that the label and their management have
- 8:10created this kind of like a chaotic storm around this
- 8:13situation because they refuse to properly address what's
- 8:16happening. And so everybody's minds are
- 8:18going to like the worst possible scenario.
- 8:21And therefore that's actually putting the other group members
- 8:24at risk. They're getting so much hate.
- 8:26Everybody's assuming the worst of them.
- 8:28It's allowing like everybody's imaginations to run wild.
- 8:31And we don't even know what's true or what's not.
- 8:34OK. The next story that I have for
- 8:35you guys today is a male Australian athlete is going
- 8:37viral for a derogatory term that he used on his podcast.
- 8:42You guys, I don't know what's going on in astrology right now,
- 8:45but the fact that I'm here with another sports related story
- 8:48this week, this one is less chronically online than Shaq
- 8:54versus Coach Jackie. However, it is going super viral
- 8:57on like the women's sports side of TikTok.
- 8:59And since now I am one of the top reporters on that beat, it
- 9:02is my duty to cover it. OK, so Australian middle
- 9:06distance runner Ryan Gregson has come under fire online after
- 9:09using a controversial term during a recent podcast
- 9:12appearance. On an episode of the For the
- 9:15Kudos podcast, he used the phrase getting chicked, which is
- 9:19a slang expression referring to a man being beaten by a female
- 9:22competitor while talking about a race.
- 9:24That he did. Let me play the clip.
- 9:26Liam had a girl behind him like for the 1st 5K.
- 9:29Now I just said like, mate, that would be such a weird experience
- 9:32that you're you're on track. You're on track for PB.
- 9:34You know you going well, but there's a girl right next to you
- 9:37at halfway. Like you're just reevaluating
- 9:39everything. You're like, I'm on for a trivia
- 9:41day today, but am I going to get chinked?
- 9:43So in this he is referring to world class Kenyan runner Agnes
- 9:48Netich. But even if he wasn't referring
- 9:50to a world class runner, like this situation in general has
- 9:53sparked so much criticism from listeners and also fellow
- 9:56athletes who found that the language was derogatory,
- 9:59outdated, sexist, and it reflects kind of broader issues
- 10:03around gender attitudes in athletics.
- 10:05Now he has responded to the backlash.
- 10:07He issued an apology on a follow up podcast episode, saying that
- 10:11he regretted his choice of words and that they did not reflect
- 10:14his true views. And he also noted that his wife,
- 10:16Genevieve Gregson, is an elite runner herself.
- 10:20And he described the term as offensive and inappropriate.
- 10:23I mean, it wasn't just the term. It was like the context of what
- 10:27he said that he was like questioning his entire life when
- 10:32he saw that a woman was coming up beside him.
- 10:34You know what this reminds me of what you would think that an
- 10:36elite athlete would think differently than this, like that
- 10:40they would have the understanding of how athletics
- 10:42work. But it reminds me of that.
- 10:45What was it like a survey or like a study that they did where
- 10:48they surveyed men all around the world and there was some insane
- 10:52percentage of men who believed, like, truly, like regular men
- 10:55who were not tennis players. OK, Who truly believed in their
- 10:58heart of hearts that they would be able to beat the Williams
- 11:01sisters at a game of tennis? That is what this is reminding
- 11:05me of. And like I said, he should know
- 11:07better because as an actual professional, like elite
- 11:10athlete, he should understand the mechanics of athletics and
- 11:13how this actually works. This is why we love TikTok.
- 11:17We love when stupid things that men say go viral and then they
- 11:22get embarrassed and they have to apologize.
- 11:23Like that is the benefit of public pressure.
- 11:28OK, the last two stories that I have are kind of quick, but the
- 11:31first one is that Be Better, AKA Marcos.
- 11:34He's back feuding kind of with the Earl sisters.
- 11:37So as we know, he posted this like investigative video 2 days
- 11:41ago, 2 days ago, two weeks ago where he claimed to know the
- 11:44reason behind the Alex Earl versus Alex Cooper feud.
- 11:48And the Earl sisters were in the comments basically saying that
- 11:50he was wrong. So now he's come back with this
- 11:52new video saying, OK, if I was so wrong, why haven't you
- 11:56corrected me yet? I've given you plenty of
- 11:58chances. And he shows all these DMS and
- 12:00texts that he's allegedly sent to them being like, let's clear
- 12:03it up. Let's talk about it.
- 12:04Now in this video when he's sharing all of that, he refers
- 12:08to Ashton, who is Alex Earl's younger sister and she's an
- 12:10influencer herself as the less interesting sister.
- 12:15And now Ashton has made a video joking about how she is the less
- 12:18interesting sister, and this has kind of backfired on her.
- 12:23People are now talking about how, like, OK, if you're
- 12:25responding to all of his claims, like, you can, you guys keep
- 12:29responding to these claims. Like, you're clearly bothered.
- 12:32Why can't you just come out and say, what's been going on?
- 12:35What is he wrong about? What's incorrect?
- 12:37Like, what's the T on Alex Cooper?
- 12:39Like, what is going on here? Because it's kind of giving
- 12:41Streisand a fact. Either completely ignore it or
- 12:44give us everything. I know that we all believe that
- 12:47they're probably saving it for the Netflix show, but people are
- 12:50like, they're pretending to be so unbothered, but they're
- 12:52clearly so bothered. That is what a lot of people
- 12:54feel. OK.
- 12:54And the last right that I have you guys today is Billie Eilish
- 12:58is under fire after criticizing those who say they love animals
- 13:02but consume meat. So she was doing a video
- 13:05interview for Elle and they asked her for like a hot take,
- 13:09like an opinion that she would go down defending.
- 13:12What's 1 hill you die on? Y'all not going to like me for
- 13:15this one? Eating meat is inherently wrong.
- 13:18And then the other thing is 2 things cannot coincide.
- 13:23I love animals, I love all animals so much and I eat meat.
- 13:26You just, they're just, you can't do both.
- 13:28Sorry. You can eat meat, go for it.
- 13:31You can love animals, but you can't do both.
- 13:34This has made the Internet so mad.
- 13:38You guys, everybody's like, Oh my God, vegans, vegetarians,
- 13:42like, they're so annoying. I mean, I eat meat, OK?
- 13:45I eat meat. She didn't come out here with
- 13:49that opinion unprovoked, you know, Like she was specifically
- 13:52asked for a hot take, an opinion that she will go down defending.
- 13:57That is the type of opinion that you give with a question like
- 14:01that. You know you don't have to agree
- 14:03with it, but she can have that opinion.
- 14:05And I was a vegetarian for like 6 years.
- 14:07I feel like that's the most millennial girl thing ever.
- 14:11Like we all watched 1 documentary when we were like 14
- 14:14and got so traumatized and we're like, I need to be a vegan or I
- 14:18need to be a vegetarian. And we were also very influenced
- 14:21by freely. Do you guys want to deep dive on
- 14:23Freely? I know there's a couple out
- 14:25there, like a couple, you know, podcasts or video essays out
- 14:27there about like Freely. The banana girl obviously is who
- 14:30I'm referring to. But if you guys want 1, I feel
- 14:33like that could be a very interesting walk down memory
- 14:36lane of like the YouTube vegan community and like what that was
- 14:40like for like millennial women. ANYWAYS, obviously all of that
- 14:44together, I feel like it is like a core experience where so many
- 14:49of us went vegan or vegetarian for like a period of time.
- 14:51I was vegetarian for six years, but I had to start eating meat
- 14:54again because my hair didn't grow, my nails had cracks all
- 14:58down the middle. Like I was so nutrient deficient
- 15:02and it's because I wasn't like doing it properly.
- 15:04You know what I mean? I wasn't actually trying to cook
- 15:06like nutritious protein filled vegetarian meals like a lot of
- 15:11those six years. I was in the early like stages
- 15:13of like being at university, so I was cooking for myself and I
- 15:16was just partying and I like did not give a shit.
- 15:18So I was not caring about my nutrition and I was not eating
- 15:22properly. I feel like if I went vegetarian
- 15:24or vegan now, like I would be able to do it much better.
- 15:27You know, I probably wouldn't have that experience because I
- 15:28would be like an adult about it. But regardless, I eat meat now.
- 15:32A lot of my friends would actually categorize me as the
- 15:34person that they know who loves animals the most.
- 15:38But I don't know, maybe that's just performative, you know,
- 15:41Like, I don't know, I'm not offended by that take, but
- 15:44literally Reddit, Twitter, TikTok, like everybody is losing
- 15:48their minds being like vegans, vegetarians, like they're so
- 15:50annoying and like just getting so defensive about this.
- 15:54It's really interesting to watch.
- 15:56Now, some people have made the point that this could be seen as
- 16:00like a more whitewashed take because it doesn't consider the
- 16:03customs and experiences of other cultures, particularly
- 16:06indigenous cultures. That's definitely like, not my
- 16:08place to say, but that is a criticism floating around out
- 16:12there. We are also traumatized from the
- 16:152000s vegan movement and so much of it was rooted in Internet
- 16:19culture and YouTube. So I understand why people feel
- 16:21defensive against the movement when they hear things like this.
- 16:27But like, she was not up on some high horse.
- 16:30Like she was asked this question.
- 16:31That's my opinion. That's my opinion.
- 16:33She was asked this question. Maybe I'm just like secure
- 16:35enough in my dietary choices that it doesn't offend me.
- 16:40I believe two things can be true, but Billy doesn't and
- 16:43that's OK. Anyways, guys, that's it for
- 16:45mini scroll today. Thank you so much for listening.
