- 0:44SPEAKER_08: It's the July 30th edition of Too Many Men on the Mic.
- 0:48SPEAKER_08: And it's the end of July, which for me in my house.
- 0:53SPEAKER_09: It does feel like we're golfing.
- 0:56SPEAKER_09: I think that's last week.
- 0:57SPEAKER_09: Well, that's true.
- 0:58SPEAKER_09: Old studio days.
- 0:59SPEAKER_08: But I feel like uh uh we're in the siesta time of year.
- 1:03SPEAKER_08: Uh it's it's the dog days of summer, but at the same time, it's that time of year when you have just a little pause and reprieve from maybe your youth hockey schedule.
- 1:15SPEAKER_08: You're not looking at your calendar going, who's gonna go to practice, who's gonna drive where.
- 1:20SPEAKER_08: Uh you might be thinking about home projects or things like that.
- 1:23SPEAKER_08: Things that normally you can't do.
- 1:26SPEAKER_08: And uh we're we're we're living the siesta for just a few more days.
- 1:31SPEAKER_08: And today it's July 30th, so we're gonna take it.
- 1:33SPEAKER_09: Well, it's 150 out um with 200% humidity.
- 1:38SPEAKER_09: I in speaking of home projects, I installed a couple of brand new uh thermostats.
- 1:42SPEAKER_09: Shout out Sensi, Wi-Fi, adapting, Amazon, love it.
- 1:45SPEAKER_09: Drive down my six hundred uh dollar Aaron bill.
- 1:49SPEAKER_09: Thanks for that.
- 1:50SPEAKER_09: Um but yeah, it you know, we're at we're at one practice week instead of four or three, which is good.
- 1:58SPEAKER_09: And we'll take it.
- 1:59SPEAKER_09: That's a win.
- 2:00SPEAKER_09: You know, I think uh you know personally myself coming off kind of uh uh a recharge week last week, I'm ready to go.
- 2:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but I have to say, like I if I could gift you uh vacation days, I would do it because you had plans to go to the lake up in Michigan, and for those that have listened, thanks wildfires are just joining, and this is your first show.
- 2:25SPEAKER_08: Uh the wildfires in Canada created a little bit of a dilemma for Coach Jared's uh vacation trip less.
- 2:32SPEAKER_09: At one point before we were heading up there, the air quality near where our lake house is was like the worst in the world.
- 2:41SPEAKER_09: I mean, they've got like uh up to 300 and it was like 500.
- 2:45SPEAKER_09: So we're talking like Beijing and Mexico City.
- 2:48SPEAKER_08: Well, thank goodness you didn't go because uh you got to be on the ice Friday to run practice and uh and skate.
- 2:54SPEAKER_08: So it was a good skate, really good skate.
- 2:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that that that that's that's a win right there.
- 2:58SPEAKER_08: Uh so because we're in this uh siesta kind of time frame where we're we haven't quite started youth hockey season and we've got a little bit of time left.
- 3:09SPEAKER_08: I think we've got a great show, a different show, which is gonna be uh a fun show.
- 3:14SPEAKER_09: We're going viral.
- 3:17SPEAKER_09: Speaking of siesta, somebody's back from his siesta.
- 3:20SPEAKER_09: He's kind of moving around in his little hole there, but I think our producer Grant is back from his siesta.
- 3:25SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we're gonna get a little hi from the producer here.
- 3:28SPEAKER_09: He oh, hello.
- 3:29SPEAKER_06: Sorry, I'm I'm managing some things backstage at the moment.
- 3:33SPEAKER_09: He was on assignment.
- 3:34SPEAKER_08: So so while you were on assignment, uh, I hope you had a great time.
- 3:39SPEAKER_08: But one thing I've noticed since in the limited amount of time that I've seen you since he'd been back is I haven't heard any kind of bragging, I haven't heard any kind of uh I won, I crushed, I did anything like that.
- 3:53SPEAKER_08: So maybe you know you keep you keep your winnings to yourself.
- 3:56SPEAKER_08: You want to stay off the IRS radar, and that's certainly a strategy.
- 4:00SPEAKER_08: But uh at the same time, since you haven't said anything, I just have to wonder how did your bets go?
- 4:06SPEAKER_06: Well, um, whenever you walked into Vegas with about the same amount you walked out with, I'd call that a big win, and that's what I did.
- 4:14SPEAKER_06: So there you go.
- 4:15SPEAKER_06: There you go.
- 4:16SPEAKER_08: That's a so you have no stories.
- 4:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's a politically correct answer.
- 4:21SPEAKER_06: I I was down a decent amount and I had a very, very good last day.
- 4:25SPEAKER_08: Were you playing?
- 4:26SPEAKER_08: Detail it for us because the listeners want to hear how far you were down, and were you to the point where you couldn't like pay your car payment and then you came back and suddenly you were able to pay your car payment?
- 4:37SPEAKER_06: I was only I was down like$200 and I won that all back on the last day on craps in blackjack.
- 4:46SPEAKER_09: Nice, nice.
- 4:47SPEAKER_09: Uh single deck blackjack like a man, or did you go uh I didn't see it?
- 4:53SPEAKER_09: Sorry, sorry, that was a non-politically correct statement.
- 4:57SPEAKER_09: Non-politically correct statement.
- 4:58SPEAKER_09: All did not exist anymore, sadly.
- 5:00SPEAKER_09: Oh, there's you know, there's no more single deck.
- 5:03SPEAKER_08: It's been a minute since I've been out to Vegas to actually have so so uh give us uh what was your craziest Vegas sighting?
- 5:10SPEAKER_08: Because there's always one.
- 5:11SPEAKER_08: What was it this time?
- 5:13SPEAKER_08: The Vegas sighting.
- 5:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah, like if you could pick one thing where you're like, you're never gonna believe what I saw in Vegas.
- 5:19SPEAKER_08: Remember hockey show.
- 5:22SPEAKER_08: Remember this is a youth hockey show.
- 5:23SPEAKER_06: For it being a youth hockey show, it rained.
- 5:26SPEAKER_06: Oh, it rained that was that is unusual for sure.
- 5:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's pretty unusual.
- 5:32SPEAKER_06: Like, I I don't think you'll go to Vegas very often and see rain.
- 5:37SPEAKER_09: No, it's not not not unless you're going to the show rain, which you probably wouldn't because you're tasting music.
- 5:44SPEAKER_08: That was a that that was a great answer, but it's not uh solicious enough.
- 5:48SPEAKER_08: Isn't so so give us one that's non-weather related.
- 5:50SPEAKER_06: What would I don't know if that might be an off the show for a stocky show?
- 5:56SPEAKER_09: So now you now we're we're gonna bring safe support into it, is what you're saying for our producer.
- 6:02SPEAKER_09: No, it's it's not a PG story.
- 6:05SPEAKER_09: Oh, okay.
- 6:05SPEAKER_09: Okay, well, we're we're good with PG 13.
- 6:08SPEAKER_08: Could you use your imagination?
- 6:09SPEAKER_08: Is there a way you could replace characters and tell the story?
- 6:13SPEAKER_08: What is it?
- 6:14SPEAKER_09: We don't want to get you in trouble with any with a certain young lady that's back here in St.
- 6:19SPEAKER_09: Louis and probably didn't go with you on the trip.
- 6:21SPEAKER_06: No, no, everyone went.
- 6:22SPEAKER_06: I was with anyone who would have cared.
- 6:24SPEAKER_06: Um there was like the fake showgirls on the streets, and they were trying to like handcuff people.
- 6:31SPEAKER_06: And they tried, they almost handcuffed my mom.
- 6:34SPEAKER_06: That was uh pretty interesting.
- 6:36SPEAKER_06: Wow.
- 6:37SPEAKER_09: All right.
- 6:37SPEAKER_09: Well, I'm sure that that's uh what do you what does that even happen?
- 6:41SPEAKER_08: What even happens when uh your mom gets handcuffed?
- 6:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I don't.
- 6:45SPEAKER_06: It was very straight.
- 6:47SPEAKER_08: What would happen if my mom got handcuffed?
- 6:48SPEAKER_08: There's a four four brass knuckles coming at you.
- 6:52SPEAKER_09: I've met his mom, trust me.
- 6:56SPEAKER_09: She's gonna be chucking hands.
- 6:57SPEAKER_09: Maybe she's gonna be throwing hands for sure.
- 7:00SPEAKER_09: That's do they still have like when you're going down the escalators by the MGM and they've got the guys down there with the like the all the cards they're trying to pass out, and they're trying to hand out cards to certain places.
- 7:12SPEAKER_09: Oh, I'm sure.
- 7:13SPEAKER_06: I'm sure they that hasn't gone away.
- 7:15SPEAKER_06: Don't worry.
- 7:16SPEAKER_09: Do you see what shows did you see, or did you see any shows?
- 7:18SPEAKER_06: No, I didn't see any shows.
- 7:19SPEAKER_06: They're too expensive now.
- 7:21SPEAKER_06: Everything's expensive there.
- 7:23SPEAKER_09: Is the uh um can you just say that you're as cool as it looks?
- 7:29SPEAKER_09: Is the what the sphere as cool as it looks on GB?
- 7:32SPEAKER_06: That's pretty awesome.
- 7:33SPEAKER_06: I didn't go in, but I we were really close to it.
- 7:35SPEAKER_06: It's amazing.
- 7:35SPEAKER_08: So, Grant, can't you just say, like, you're a social media guy, you're a producer, you're an influencer, and just kind of work your way in.
- 7:42SPEAKER_08: Does that work?
- 7:43SPEAKER_09: So it's a lot of errors.
- 7:45SPEAKER_09: He's a lot of ers, a producer, an influencer.
- 7:48SPEAKER_09: I think if you got a lot of errors, you're somebody.
- 7:51SPEAKER_06: My aunt's a high roller, so I was rolling in free things.
- 7:55SPEAKER_08: So you were you were she you were just you were just in her wake, right?
- 8:00SPEAKER_08: You were riding her wake, is basically what you're saying.
- 8:03SPEAKER_09: For a drink, he was the aunt, he was the crew, he was a part of the crew.
- 8:07SPEAKER_06: He was the crew, entourage, entourage, part of the crew.
- 8:11SPEAKER_09: Well, it's great having you back.
- 8:12SPEAKER_09: You know, I'm excited to see the social media starting to take off.
- 8:15SPEAKER_09: I think we got a viral episode here.
- 8:17SPEAKER_09: I'm ready, and it's one where you can.
- 8:19SPEAKER_09: This is one of the rare episodes where we can we obviously there's gonna be parts of this episode, you're definitely gonna want to watch it on YouTube, but because we have a great social media player in uh player, producer, influencer, grant, um, you know, anything that you miss if you if you only listen to us on Spotify or the the wherever you get your podcast, subscribe, like, share, download.
- 8:43SPEAKER_09: Um, you know, we're gonna have a great social media presence this week, I think, from this show.
- 8:48SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you guys get to your first segment.
- 8:49SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna I'm gonna prepare for the next one uh backstage here.
- 8:54SPEAKER_08: Love it, love it.
- 8:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it's a tease there.
- 8:58SPEAKER_08: Don't bury the lead.
- 8:59SPEAKER_08: Well, we've got uh three different segments of this show today, and uh we've got one that is around testing your and my ability of how much we know about uh the game of hockey, which is fantastic because nobody knows everything.
- 9:15SPEAKER_08: Uh, so nobody's perfect.
- 9:16SPEAKER_08: So accepted.
- 9:18SPEAKER_08: Uh yeah, right?
- 9:19SPEAKER_08: We're gonna take on this challenge.
- 9:21SPEAKER_08: Now, what I will say is that uh I haven't looked at the questions or the answers.
- 9:25SPEAKER_08: You haven't either.
- 9:26SPEAKER_08: Nope.
- 9:26SPEAKER_08: It's from 1972 forward.
- 9:29SPEAKER_08: I chose 1972 because I'm older than you, and because it would cover basically the time frame that we've been alive, and I think you know our listeners could kind of relate to.
- 9:41SPEAKER_08: So 72 forward on the trivia.
- 9:43SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 9:44SPEAKER_08: Uh, we also have a segment where we're gonna challenge Grant to uh do some interesting things, hockey gloves on, which I can't I can't wait to see what that looks like.
- 9:53SPEAKER_09: Yeah, for you, David Letterman.
- 9:54SPEAKER_09: You know, the the late show with David Letterman, not you know, way back when stupid human tricks, now we're doing stupid hockey tricks, yes, um, and that just means our player producer Grant, who was on, who did a stupid hockey trick a couple weeks ago.
- 10:10SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 10:10SPEAKER_09: Got on the edge.
- 10:11SPEAKER_08: But but but this is like taking it to a whole nother level.
- 10:14SPEAKER_08: And then we have uh uh, as you eloquently say, campfire stories, which is uh you know a great uh uh story about what happened to you uh along your youth hockey journey that might be interesting, uh something that you tell in a group of people where they're tell me one interesting story that's funny stories about you, funny stories that are out there.
- 10:35SPEAKER_08: So so we got three periods, so we got to get into it.
- 10:38SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and and and you know, it's uh it's the summertime, and and although I wasn't able to head up north and go to the lake, a lot of folks are out, you know, in Canada, they go to their cottages, and you know, in in Michigan and Wisconsin and Minnesota, they head to the lake, they go up north.
- 10:54SPEAKER_09: You know, we head to the lake here and in you know and and go to the lake house.
- 10:58SPEAKER_09: And so we're gonna get around the campfire, we're gonna tell some funny stories and you know, maybe a couple of anecdotes, and you know, uh I I'll I'll go ahead and and take the first take the first shot if you want to, you know, one of the things that you know we talk about it's all about fun.
- 11:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 11:15SPEAKER_09: And we talk about the stories that you know your kids are gonna remember, they're gonna remember playing shiny in a hotel, they're gonna remember getting yelled at by the hotel manager.
- 11:22SPEAKER_08: So, what year is this first off?
- 11:26SPEAKER_09: 1992.
- 11:30SPEAKER_09: 1992.
- 11:31SPEAKER_08: Okay, so this is when G and R was sh a little mess breaking and hair bands were out.
- 11:37SPEAKER_09: Um, this is this is Van Hagar.
- 11:40SPEAKER_09: This is Van Hagar, the prime Unlawful Colonel Knowledge, yeah, yeah, uh pound cake where he had the the drill up and down the the guitar uh neck.
- 11:49SPEAKER_08: And this is when Skidrow and Wasp and all the hair bands were going, wait a minute, what happened to heavy metal?
- 11:55SPEAKER_08: Grunge took all our listeners.
- 11:57SPEAKER_09: Well, I was still we were listening uh 92 2 is when we uh uh Alice and Chains, uh Sublime, Sublime, Nirvana, Nevermind, Pearl Jam 10 had just come out.
- 12:09SPEAKER_09: Um we had Sound Garden, Soundgarden, it wasn't super unknown because that came out the next year.
- 12:15SPEAKER_08: What STP record was that?
- 12:17SPEAKER_09: STP wasn't out yet.
- 12:18SPEAKER_09: STP didn't, I don't think STP was until 93, and that would have been um that would have been core.
- 12:26SPEAKER_08: Because I kind of feel like all those bands are kind of right in the next one in a little little melting pot.
- 12:31SPEAKER_09: You know, and they're they're they're bands that you can play.
- 12:33SPEAKER_09: In fact, come out August 20th to Fallons.
- 12:37SPEAKER_09: You're listening, Grant.
- 12:38SPEAKER_09: Um, we've got some more, we got more, we got more to talk about.
- 12:41SPEAKER_08: All right, so so 1992, paint the picture for us.
- 12:44SPEAKER_09: So um guys I played with Matt Banachek, what a great hockey name.
- 12:49SPEAKER_09: Banachek, Ronnie Calito, Sean Capp, uh, Matt Collier, who actually lived down the street from me.
- 12:55SPEAKER_09: Um, we would do this thing where we one of one of our tagging all of you after the show.
- 13:01SPEAKER_09: Basically, if you can find you, it's been a minute, almost 40.
- 13:04SPEAKER_09: Well, never mind.
- 13:05SPEAKER_09: Um so we would get together on Friday night and we would spend the night.
- 13:10SPEAKER_09: I would spend the night over at Sean Capp's house.
- 13:12SPEAKER_09: He lived right on the canals on Lake St.
- 13:14SPEAKER_09: Clair.
- 13:14SPEAKER_09: We'd play some hockey after school.
- 13:16SPEAKER_09: But the reason why we did this is we would get up in the morning and Ronnie Cleito's dad, uh Mr.
- 13:22SPEAKER_09: Cleito, um that's that's how I remember as Mr.
- 13:25SPEAKER_09: Coleto, had this van, had this white van.
- 13:28SPEAKER_09: It like had, you know, panel panel size.
- 13:30SPEAKER_08: Did it have windows or was it like a kidnapper van?
- 13:33SPEAKER_09: Um, it had the circle windows.
- 13:35SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 13:35SPEAKER_08: And and so it wasn't quite as creepy.
- 13:37SPEAKER_09: So it had two seats in the front, it had a middle bench, and then it was all open in the back.
- 13:42SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 13:42SPEAKER_09: So, you know, if you were lucky, if you got in first, you got the middle bench.
- 13:45SPEAKER_09: If you got in last, you had to sit on the nasty hockey bags in the back.
- 13:48SPEAKER_09: This is old days, cloth hockey bags, all that good stuff.
- 13:51SPEAKER_09: Anyways, so I don't think my parents really knew this either.
- 13:55SPEAKER_08: Was there a stack of uh penthouse magazines in the uh in the back of this?
- 14:00SPEAKER_09: Those were behind the shed.
- 14:01SPEAKER_09: That was behind the shed.
- 14:02SPEAKER_09: But remember this is a youth hockey show.
- 14:04SPEAKER_09: Nobody even knows what that is.
- 14:06SPEAKER_09: We don't even know what that is.
- 14:07SPEAKER_09: Youth hockey show.
- 14:08SPEAKER_09: So, anyways, we would spend the night at uh I would spend the night at Sean Capp's house.
- 14:13SPEAKER_09: Um, and Ronnie Clito's dad had an inn with the Detroit Police Department.
- 14:18SPEAKER_09: And so I don't know how this I don't know how this happened, but we ended up going down, and for those of you from Metro Detroit, and you know Jack Adams Arena.
- 14:29SPEAKER_09: Now, Jack Adams, huge hockey name.
- 14:32SPEAKER_09: The Adams Division was named after him.
- 14:34SPEAKER_09: He was the rename though he was the coach for the Red Wings, GM at one point.
- 14:38SPEAKER_09: I think he owned the Red Wings before the Illiches or something along those lines.
- 14:41SPEAKER_09: Anyways, Jack Adams Arena was down in in 1992, not a great part of Detroit.
- 14:47SPEAKER_09: There weren't many great parts of Detroit.
- 14:49SPEAKER_09: Shout out to Mayor Dugan in the last couple years, bringing Detroit back to life.
- 14:52SPEAKER_09: Awesome.
- 14:53SPEAKER_09: But this is well before then.
- 14:55SPEAKER_09: So spend the night at my buddy Sean Capp's house.
- 14:59SPEAKER_09: 1992, so I'm like 16 years old.
- 15:02SPEAKER_09: Um we'd play hockey all night, maybe some other stuff, you know, maybe get, you know, maybe take somebody's spree or elite out on the on the expressway when we shouldn't have.
- 15:14SPEAKER_09: But we wake up Saturday morning at 4.45.
- 15:19SPEAKER_09: Every 445.
- 15:21SPEAKER_09: Wow, early.
- 15:22SPEAKER_09: Ronnie Colido's dad, Mr.
- 15:24SPEAKER_09: Coledo, I think I mentioned him before, pulls up, we pile in, and we drive down to the shady west side of Detroit.
- 15:34SPEAKER_09: Schoolcraft, Livernoy, seven mile, not a great area, to go down to Jack Adams Ice Arena and play hockey in the Detroit Police Athletic League.
- 15:44SPEAKER_08: So long story short, a bunch of guys did the firemen play in that too?
- 15:49SPEAKER_09: Uh, don't know.
- 15:49SPEAKER_09: We just play, you know.
- 15:50SPEAKER_09: So, anyways, you know, bunch of guys, bunch of kids from the burbs going down to a bad part of Detroit.
- 15:56SPEAKER_09: Every time we did this, there was a ritual.
- 15:59SPEAKER_09: We would Mr.
- 16:00SPEAKER_09: Cleito would stop at this gas station at the corner of Livernoy and I think Linden Street.
- 16:07SPEAKER_09: Not a good part of town.
- 16:08SPEAKER_09: Um, all my dad and my uncles, their heads are doing this right now because they they were like, if we didn't know you were going down there back in 1992, not a good idea.
- 16:16SPEAKER_09: Dark.
- 16:17SPEAKER_09: 4:45 in the morning, five o'clock-ish.
- 16:20SPEAKER_09: You know, by the time we get down there, maybe 5 15.
- 16:23SPEAKER_09: So he gets out because he wants to get these donuts and a cup of coffee, because it's like the best place.
- 16:27SPEAKER_09: This is the best place.
- 16:28SPEAKER_09: This is the guy.
- 16:29SPEAKER_09: And we would always ask him, he had he had one line every time we talked to him.
- 16:33SPEAKER_09: This is actually a great lesson for all you parents out there.
- 16:35SPEAKER_09: You'd ask him, like, hey, how do you how do you play?
- 16:37SPEAKER_09: How do you play?
- 16:37SPEAKER_09: Oh, he skated well.
- 16:38SPEAKER_09: It was all you say.
- 16:40SPEAKER_09: If you say he'd be driving down the street, he skates well, he skates well.
- 16:42SPEAKER_09: That was all he would say.
- 16:43SPEAKER_09: So great lesson for parents.
- 16:45SPEAKER_09: If somebody, if you know, when you're talking about your kids or your kids' friends, just say he skates well.
- 16:49SPEAKER_09: Perfect.
- 16:50SPEAKER_09: Anyways, we get to this gas station, we'd always fill up the gas station.
- 16:54SPEAKER_09: We'd have to basically, like, you know, it got to a point where we were like flipping coins because we would help Mr.
- 16:58SPEAKER_09: Cleito out, and somebody would have to pay for gas.
- 17:01SPEAKER_09: Back then, no credit cards, no iPhones, you had to go in and pay with cash.
- 17:05SPEAKER_09: And we didn't know you didn't pay ahead of time because you didn't know how much or how little gas was in the it was in the mystery machine van that we would go down there in.
- 17:13SPEAKER_09: That's who we do.
- 17:14SPEAKER_09: And it was inevitable whoever was pumping gas would have to go in and pay because it was their turn.
- 17:22SPEAKER_09: And then everybody would be in there getting like, you know, Starburst or Cokes or what have you, right yo, and that person would be they would we try to leave them there every time.
- 17:34SPEAKER_09: And let me drive away.
- 17:36SPEAKER_09: Let me just show uh let me show a picture video footage of the video.
- 17:39SPEAKER_08: I've got I I've I actually have a picture of of the actual So you so basically what you're saying, what you're saying is you and you would incite panic intentionally.
- 17:49SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 17:49SPEAKER_09: So I actually have a picture of the um I actually have a picture of uh of the am I sharing this correctly?
- 17:56SPEAKER_09: Hang on, let me add to the stage.
- 17:57SPEAKER_09: There it is.
- 17:58SPEAKER_09: Hang on, add to the stage.
- 17:59SPEAKER_09: There it is.
- 18:00SPEAKER_09: So that's the actual gas station that we used to and behind it, not a not a good part of town.
- 18:07SPEAKER_08: So when it was your turn, I I guess what I want to hear is I got left and I'm running down what street.
- 18:13SPEAKER_09: How did that make you feel when you were left?
- 18:17SPEAKER_09: So I'm afraid.
- 18:18SPEAKER_09: So my my biggest fear of this whole thing, and I can't remember a single game or skate or whatever happened at Jack Adams Ice Arena, although that place used to be a dump.
- 18:29SPEAKER_09: Now it is pretty awesome, which they've the huge huge renaissance uh in Detroit area ice rinks over the last 10-15 years.
- 18:36SPEAKER_09: Thanks everybody for that.
- 18:37SPEAKER_09: Um I remember running down the street, Mr.
- 18:41SPEAKER_09: Kolito.
- 18:42SPEAKER_09: Remember, I told Mr.
- 18:43SPEAKER_09: Colido, he's just like, and the guys are just out the back window, like you know, because there's like the two windows in the back, just laughing at me.
- 18:51SPEAKER_09: And the only thing I can think of is like Pam Ballant is going to kill me because I'm gonna get left down here and have to call from a payphone.
- 18:58SPEAKER_09: So I think there's a payphone in that picture, but anyways, that the picture this corner in Detroit, southwest side of Detroit, living on our school craft, Linden Street, with a 16-year-old kid from the burbs running down after a white mystery man, mystery, mystery.
- 19:18SPEAKER_09: We're gonna have to edit that for our U Talkie podcast.
- 19:23SPEAKER_09: It was kind of a thing that everybody, you know, if you for whatever reason, I might have been in the bathroom or might have had to do something.
- 19:32SPEAKER_09: And like I you always, whenever you filled the gas tank up, it was always like, I gotta be the first guy out so I don't get left behind, and I got left behind.
- 19:39SPEAKER_09: So, you know, as you get older and you're playing you know hockey and you're out there with your buds, if you've got a Mr.
- 19:46SPEAKER_09: Colido in your life, make sure that you take look take take note of how he just like, hey, everybody skates well, it doesn't matter because we're out here at five o'clock in the morning going to the Detroit Police Athletic League hockey at Jack Adams Ice Arena.
- 19:58SPEAKER_09: Um and don't get left behind at a uh shady gas station in the middle of uh Southwest Detroit.
- 20:06SPEAKER_08: Drive off incite panic.
- 20:08SPEAKER_08: Uh what what what what a great little ring.
- 20:10SPEAKER_09: And my uncles will appreciate that because I think they in the 70s that was one of their home rinks.
- 20:15SPEAKER_08: Well, I don't I I I don't have as good of a buildup.
- 20:18SPEAKER_08: That was a great buildup for sure, and the great story overall.
- 20:21SPEAKER_08: Mine's a little shorter, and mine's more of uh uh circling around.
- 20:27SPEAKER_08: So imagine if you're a youth hockey player out there or a parent that's in the sands, you're watching your players come out on the ice, uh, you're watching each side do circles all the way up to the center line and then uh back around again, and they're getting getting their legs uh warmed up, and then they're thinking about maybe doing some kind of warm-up that normally we would do as coaches and ask our players to do.
- 20:52SPEAKER_08: And so, somewhere along the way, I was doing that skate and lost my cup.
- 21:00SPEAKER_08: Literally fell out on the ice.
- 21:02SPEAKER_09: Was it hanging from the rafters?
- 21:04SPEAKER_08: It was not hanging from the rafters, and so and so I kept skating around.
- 21:08SPEAKER_08: I didn't feel it, nothing happened.
- 21:10SPEAKER_08: Uh, you know, there wasn't a jostle or anything like that.
- 21:13SPEAKER_08: Jostle, that's a good word.
- 21:14SPEAKER_08: We don't use that a lot.
- 21:15SPEAKER_08: That's a big word.
- 21:16SPEAKER_08: Jostle.
- 21:17SPEAKER_08: Jostle.
- 21:18SPEAKER_08: Uh, so uh I kept skating around and then we got ready to go.
- 21:21SPEAKER_08: We we we went to the net fastest you've ever skated.
- 21:24SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we went to the net and we were cheering as a team, and then suddenly all the parents were I I kind of heard them laughing, and the refs were waiting for the game to go.
- 21:33SPEAKER_08: And what was out there in the middle of the ice?
- 21:35SPEAKER_08: But there was a cup that was sitting there, and so I had a moment where I'm like, can't be me.
- 21:41SPEAKER_08: I gotta check myself.
- 21:42SPEAKER_08: Sure enough it was.
- 21:44SPEAKER_08: Sure enough it was.
- 21:46SPEAKER_08: So that is my youth hockey story lucky day uh uh that that I'll put out there.
- 21:50SPEAKER_08: Grant, uh, I'm sure you have a great sports story, maybe not youth hockey related, but something ridiculous uh like what we just talked about.
- 22:00SPEAKER_08: And uh uh so yeah, uh add to the party.
- 22:02SPEAKER_08: You got something?
- 22:03SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I'm gonna keep uh I gotta keep chin up here because I don't want to ruin the surprise.
- 22:07SPEAKER_09: Can't bury the lead, can't bury the lead.
- 22:09SPEAKER_06: Uh I'll be quick here because we got to get to that next segment.
- 22:12SPEAKER_06: So mine was it was high school football.
- 22:15SPEAKER_06: Um we're warming up, we finish our warm-ups, I go back in, I pop my AirPods in.
- 22:20SPEAKER_06: Or no, I pop my AirPods in before we go out.
- 22:23SPEAKER_06: Um, we go out, we warm up, come back in the locker room, and I'm looking for my AirPods.
- 22:28SPEAKER_06: I'm like, oh my god, do my AirPods get stolen?
- 22:30SPEAKER_06: Like, I'm all mad.
- 22:31SPEAKER_06: I'm texting my mom.
- 22:32SPEAKER_06: I was like, I know I have them.
- 22:33SPEAKER_06: Like, did I leave them at home?
- 22:34SPEAKER_06: She's like, I don't see them.
- 22:36SPEAKER_06: I was like, man, that's so weird.
- 22:38SPEAKER_06: So I'm about to go, uh, coin flip happens.
- 22:42SPEAKER_06: I'm going about to go out for kickoff.
- 22:44SPEAKER_06: I take my helmet off to like stick my hair back to the helmet, and in the pattern of the helmet are my AirPods.
- 22:51SPEAKER_09: I'm like, what would have been better had you just made the call with your AirPods in.
- 22:57SPEAKER_06: So I'm like, so I'm thinking, I'm like, what do I do?
- 23:00SPEAKER_06: And I see my mom sitting in like the first row of the bleachers.
- 23:03SPEAKER_06: I'm like, well, because I don't have pockets or anything.
- 23:05SPEAKER_06: I'm like, well, I'm just gonna run over.
- 23:07SPEAKER_06: So I sprint over, I hand them to her, and I'm running back, and my coach like kind of looked at me and then didn't even say anything.
- 23:12SPEAKER_06: And I was like, I dodged a lot of bullets in that one in that 30-second spam like.
- 23:18SPEAKER_09: So that's like the guy who's like looking for his glasses and they're on his on his forehead, right?
- 23:25SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and the padding and the helmets are white, and my airpods were white, so they it was it was very unfortunate.
- 23:32SPEAKER_08: Well, uh, I love uh sharing a little banner.
- 23:36SPEAKER_08: Good stories.
- 23:36SPEAKER_08: Uh that was a good uh round the horn.

- 29:12SPEAKER_06: Uh, Jared and Drew will be your competitors.
- 29:16SPEAKER_06: You'll get to meet the competitors in just a moment.
- 29:18SPEAKER_06: We are doing 25 questions.
- 29:20SPEAKER_06: We're gonna alternate every other if they get it wrong.
- 29:24SPEAKER_06: It's a it's a keep it, make it, take it situation.
- 29:27SPEAKER_06: So every answer they get correct, they get to keep going.
- 29:30SPEAKER_06: So we could see a skunk, we could see 25-0.
- 29:34SPEAKER_06: Once they get one wrong, the other coach will get the opportunity to continue uh from where the other one left off.
- 29:43SPEAKER_06: So let's meet our competitors.
- 29:45SPEAKER_06: First, we have from Detroit, Michigan, coming in at a whopping 5'8.
- 29:51SPEAKER_06: Hey, hey, hey, hey.
- 29:58SPEAKER_09: I'm already it's already under protest, already under protest.
- 30:00SPEAKER_06: And in our red corner, coming in at 5'10 from the show me state St.
- 30:08SPEAKER_06: Louis, Missouri, coach Dream!
- 30:13SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna say closer to 5'11 and a half.
- 30:16SPEAKER_06: All right, gentlemen, you know the rules.
- 30:18SPEAKER_06: This is all me, these are all questions post 1972.
- 30:25SPEAKER_08: Let's go.
- 30:26SPEAKER_06: You get to keep going.
- 30:28SPEAKER_06: There are a couple three-point questions.
- 30:31SPEAKER_06: Those will I'll let you know when those happen.
- 30:34SPEAKER_06: All right, I'm thinking of number one through five.
- 30:37SPEAKER_06: I have it behind my back.
- 30:40SPEAKER_06: Two.
- 30:41SPEAKER_06: Three.
- 30:42SPEAKER_06: Three.
- 30:43SPEAKER_06: The number was two.
- 30:44SPEAKER_06: Coach Drew!
- 30:45unknown: Woo!
- 30:46SPEAKER_06: Sorry, it's already fixed.
- 30:47SPEAKER_06: Let's go.
- 30:50SPEAKER_06: All right.
- 30:51SPEAKER_06: First question: What is Wayne Gretzky's career point total?
- 30:56SPEAKER_06: This is you gotta be right on the money here.
- 31:01SPEAKER_08: 2187.
- 31:10SPEAKER_06: Now, now, now, now if you're wrong, the next question goes back to Coach Drew.
- 31:14SPEAKER_06: So you can skip if you would like.
- 31:17SPEAKER_09: Uh, well, I know the goal total.
- 31:20SPEAKER_09: Um, I'm gonna say 2149.
- 31:27SPEAKER_06: If it plays here.
- 31:32SPEAKER_06: So now we're gonna swing back to Coach for the next one.
- 31:37SPEAKER_06: This goalie holds the NHL record for most career wins.
- 31:42SPEAKER_08: Most career wins.
- 31:44SPEAKER_06: You don't need to know the wins.
- 31:45SPEAKER_06: I just want to know who it is.
- 31:47SPEAKER_07: Marty Burjur.
- 31:49SPEAKER_06: That would be correct.
- 31:51SPEAKER_06: And I'm not gonna play.
- 31:52SPEAKER_06: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 31:54SPEAKER_06: Jared wants me to play.
- 31:55SPEAKER_06: He shoots, he scores for every correct answer.
- 31:57SPEAKER_06: I'm not going to there because it's a bully.
- 32:00SPEAKER_06: One-zero.
- 32:03SPEAKER_06: 50, 50, 50, 50.
- 32:06SPEAKER_06: All right, Coach Drew.
- 32:07SPEAKER_06: Who holds?
- 32:08SPEAKER_06: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 32:09SPEAKER_06: You know what?
- 32:10SPEAKER_06: No, I don't.
- 32:10SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna ask.
- 32:11SPEAKER_06: Who holds the single season penalty minutes record for penalty minutes?
- 32:16SPEAKER_06: 472 penalty minutes.
- 32:18SPEAKER_06: What player was it?
- 32:25SPEAKER_03: There should be a time limit on this.
- 32:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 32:29SPEAKER_06: Three, two, one.
- 32:32SPEAKER_06: Need a final answer.
- 32:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:42SPEAKER_09: Tiger Williams?
- 32:49SPEAKER_06: We are going to go.
- 32:50SPEAKER_06: The hammer.
- 32:52SPEAKER_06: He played for Philly, too.
- 32:53SPEAKER_06: We're gonna go back to Coach Drew here.
- 32:56SPEAKER_06: This finish winger shattered the NHL rookie goals record in 1992, 1993, scoring 76 goals.
- 33:06SPEAKER_06: Who was it?
- 33:07SPEAKER_08: Brett Hall St.
- 33:08SPEAKER_08: Louis Blues.
- 33:08SPEAKER_08: Let's go.
- 33:10SPEAKER_06: This is bad.
- 33:16SPEAKER_09: I mean, considering Brett Hall's rookie season was 1986.
- 33:20SPEAKER_09: That's true.
- 33:22SPEAKER_09: Tamu Solani.
- 33:24SPEAKER_09: The finish, the finish, uh, what they call it.
- 33:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah, Tamu Solani.
- 33:31SPEAKER_00: Rookie P.
- 33:33SPEAKER_06: All right, 1-1.
- 33:35SPEAKER_06: Good job, Coach Jared.
- 33:37SPEAKER_06: All right, here we go.
- 33:38SPEAKER_06: Doug Jarvis set the NHL Ironman record by playing this many consecutive games without missing one, a streak that lasted from 1975 to 1988.
- 33:49SPEAKER_09: Uh 800 and it was just broken by uh Patrick Marlowe.
- 34:00SPEAKER_09: It was broken by Patrick Marlowe.
- 34:02SPEAKER_09: It was a 961?
- 34:04SPEAKER_09: That is incorrect.
- 34:05SPEAKER_06: Coach Drew, do you have an answer?
- 34:07SPEAKER_08: And and just for clarification, this is consecutive games, is that right?
- 34:10SPEAKER_06: Consecutive games played, yes.
- 34:15SPEAKER_09: He played for the Hartford Whalers, too.
- 34:17SPEAKER_09: I should have known this.
- 34:18SPEAKER_06: He played for Montreal, Washington, and Hartford.
- 34:20SPEAKER_06: He never missed the game, single game in 13 seasons.
- 34:24SPEAKER_09: I think Patrick Marlowe just broke his record a couple years back.
- 34:30SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna say 1,050.
- 34:36SPEAKER_06: Jared's pardon me, 964.
- 34:41SPEAKER_06: I knew I knew it.
- 34:44SPEAKER_06: Not it up at ones here.
- 34:45SPEAKER_06: The Montreal Canadians won four straight Stanley Cups from 76 to 79.
- 34:49SPEAKER_06: Name the coach who was on the bench for all four, Coach Jared.
- 34:53SPEAKER_09: Scotty Bowman.
- 35:00SPEAKER_06: Wittest coach of all time.
- 35:03SPEAKER_06: If I knew it, it felt like a layup.
- 35:05SPEAKER_06: Alright, 2-1 coach.
- 35:09SPEAKER_06: In 1994, the New York Rangers ended a 54-year Stanley Cup drought.
- 35:13SPEAKER_06: Who was their captain?
- 35:15SPEAKER_09: Mark Demusse Messier.
- 35:20SPEAKER_09: That's a layup, too.
- 35:23SPEAKER_06: 3-1, also a layup.
- 35:25SPEAKER_09: I like Tapin.
- 35:26SPEAKER_09: We're not, it's not basketball.
- 35:27SPEAKER_06: This one, I mean, literally, okay.
- 35:30SPEAKER_09: Mr.
- 35:30SPEAKER_06: Penguin's captain led the team in back to back-to-back Stanley Cups in 91 and 92.
- 35:36SPEAKER_09: Mario Lemie.
- 35:37SPEAKER_06: Rolling 4-1, not playing it for that cupcake.
- 35:40SPEAKER_06: The only year in the modern NHL era that the Stanley Cup was not awarded due to a labor dispute.
- 35:50SPEAKER_09: 2005.
- 35:58SPEAKER_06: We still got some questions left.
- 36:00SPEAKER_06: It's 5-1, Coach Jared.
- 36:02SPEAKER_06: Starting in 1980, the New York Islanders won four consecutive Stanley Cups.
- 36:06SPEAKER_06: Name their captain who anchored the dynasty.
- 36:09SPEAKER_09: Denny Potman.
- 36:10SPEAKER_06: Woo! I'm not, this is this question's getting X'd off the list.
- 36:20SPEAKER_06: Who's known as the great one?
- 36:22SPEAKER_06: I'm not.
- 36:23SPEAKER_09: We don't make a path.
- 36:24SPEAKER_09: We can just move on.
- 36:24SPEAKER_09: That's fine.
- 36:25SPEAKER_06: French Connection, one of the most explosive lines in NHL history, played for the Buffalo Sabres in the 1970s.
- 36:32SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna ask you to name two of the three players.
- 36:35SPEAKER_09: Uh Gilbert Perrault.
- 36:38SPEAKER_09: And um Renny.
- 36:46SPEAKER_09: Shoot.
- 36:47SPEAKER_09: I know it, and it's gonna drive me nuts when I hear it.
- 36:50SPEAKER_09: Gilbert Perot and Renny Lemaire.
- 36:56SPEAKER_06: That is close, but no.
- 37:01SPEAKER_06: And the second guy that Coach Jared helped you out with.
- 37:05SPEAKER_06: You can't tell him which one I got right.
- 37:07SPEAKER_06: That's come on.
- 37:08SPEAKER_06: Erroneous! He's gotta no, he's gotta know which one he was right.
- 37:12SPEAKER_07: Okay, well, let's say Renny Perot and Jacques Lamaire.
- 37:15SPEAKER_06: Say that one more time.
- 37:16SPEAKER_07: Renny Perot and Jacques Lamaire.
- 37:24SPEAKER_09: René Robert.
- 37:25SPEAKER_09: Renny Robert.
- 37:27SPEAKER_09: Gosh darn it.
- 37:27SPEAKER_09: I knew it.
- 37:28SPEAKER_09: Gilbert Perot, Renny Robert.
- 37:30SPEAKER_09: And the third guy was um Rick Martin.
- 37:33SPEAKER_09: That was the one.
- 37:34SPEAKER_09: Rick Martin.
- 37:35SPEAKER_09: No, Rick, Rick, Rick, no, Rick Martin.
- 37:37SPEAKER_09: Rick Martin.
- 37:38SPEAKER_09: Rick Martin.
- 37:39SPEAKER_09: Rick Martin.
- 37:41SPEAKER_09: That's like that's the St.
- 37:42SPEAKER_09: Louis.
- 37:43SPEAKER_09: That's the St.
- 37:43SPEAKER_09: Louis version of his name.
- 37:46SPEAKER_09: Rick Martin down at K Row.
- 37:49SPEAKER_06: We're gonna let um Coach Drew have a chance here.
- 37:52SPEAKER_06: He's down 60.
- 37:53SPEAKER_09: Oh, we're just changing the rules, huh?
- 37:54SPEAKER_06: Yes, this is uh, no, we're not we're not changing the rules.
- 37:59SPEAKER_06: Let's keep going.
- 37:59SPEAKER_06: For sure, the Vancouver Canucks winger was named the Russian Rocket and scored 60 goals in his rookie season in 1991 and 1992.
- 38:08SPEAKER_06: That would be Pavel Bray.
- 38:10SPEAKER_09: All right, I was for sure gonna say Mallory Buret's brother.
- 38:16SPEAKER_06: 6'2.
- 38:16SPEAKER_06: I skipped a layup for Coach Jared.
- 38:19SPEAKER_06: I'm skipping this one for you as well.
- 38:20SPEAKER_09: They're called tappins, okay?
- 38:22SPEAKER_09: This isn't basketball.
- 38:26SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 38:27SPEAKER_06: Alexandre, Alexander Daigle.
- 38:30SPEAKER_06: Selected first overall, 19.
- 38:32SPEAKER_06: Daig.
- 38:33SPEAKER_06: Alexander Daig.
- 38:34SPEAKER_06: Widely considered one of the biggest busts in draft history.
- 38:38SPEAKER_06: Which team picked him?
- 38:40SPEAKER_08: The Ottawa Senators.
- 38:43SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 38:48SPEAKER_06: Back in the world.
- 38:48SPEAKER_09: What nationality was Alexander Daigle?
- 38:51SPEAKER_06: Don't know.
- 38:52SPEAKER_09: He's Canadian, actually.
- 38:53SPEAKER_09: He was actually Canadian.
- 38:54SPEAKER_06: Brett Hole scored 741 goals.
- 38:57SPEAKER_06: He's a Hall of Famer.
- 38:58SPEAKER_06: He was not a first round pick.
- 39:00SPEAKER_06: He was dragged in the sixth round, 117th overall by who?
- 39:05SPEAKER_08: The Calgary Planes.
- 39:08SPEAKER_06: Come on! You're gonna ask that question to a guy from St.
- 39:11SPEAKER_06: Louis?
- 39:12SPEAKER_06: Best trade ever.
- 39:14SPEAKER_06: 6'4.
- 39:15SPEAKER_06: Okay, the highest scoring left winger in NHL history, Luke Robotell.
- 39:20SPEAKER_06: Robotai for 668 goals if he was a ninth round pick in 1984.
- 39:26SPEAKER_06: What number overall was he selected?
- 39:30SPEAKER_08: He was a ninth he was a ninth round pick?
- 39:33SPEAKER_08: He was a ninth round pick.
- 39:51SPEAKER_09: So nine it was nineteen ninety-one or ninety-two?
- 39:58SPEAKER_09: Eighty-four.
- 39:59SPEAKER_09: He was drafted in nineteen eighty-four.
- 40:01SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 40:02SPEAKER_09: So that means that there were fewer teams.
- 40:04SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I'm trying to just go through my head here.
- 40:06SPEAKER_09: Six, six.
- 40:07SPEAKER_09: There was no Florida.
- 40:08SPEAKER_09: There was no There wasn't a lot of teams.
- 40:09SPEAKER_09: Um Tampa Bay.
- 40:12SPEAKER_09: I think there was like we're talking like 20 teams total.
- 40:16SPEAKER_09: 24 teams.
- 40:17SPEAKER_09: So let's say 24 times eight.
- 40:19SPEAKER_09: That's like 200-ish.
- 40:20SPEAKER_09: So I'm gonna say two oh eight.
- 40:28SPEAKER_09: 171st.
- 40:29SPEAKER_09: There must I you know what?
- 40:30SPEAKER_09: I think there was less teams than 24 in that.
- 40:33SPEAKER_09: Clearly.
- 40:33SPEAKER_09: I think there was like maybe 18, 17 or 18.
- 40:36SPEAKER_08: Sega at 80 uh six.
- 40:38SPEAKER_08: What was the year?
- 40:39SPEAKER_08: 84?
- 40:40SPEAKER_08: 84.
- 40:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 40:41SPEAKER_08: Sega 84 was probably pretty boring.
- 40:43SPEAKER_09: Yeah, probably a little dot dot dot matrix.
- 40:46unknown: Yeah.
- 40:46SPEAKER_09: All right.
- 40:46SPEAKER_09: Score is six to four.
- 40:48SPEAKER_09: It was rookie of the year, too, Luke Robotaye.
- 40:50SPEAKER_09: And then Jimmy Carson was the year after.
- 40:52SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 40:52SPEAKER_09: Jimmy Carson was traded for you know what am I gonna say?
- 40:54SPEAKER_09: That's probably a trivia question.
- 40:56SPEAKER_09: Go ahead.
- 40:56SPEAKER_09: Go ahead.
- 40:57SPEAKER_06: Coach Jared leads six to four.
- 40:58SPEAKER_06: Coach Drew.
- 40:59SPEAKER_06: In 2000, the New York Islanders used the first pick on this goalie, then signed into the longest contract in NHL history.
- 41:06SPEAKER_06: A 15 year, 67.5 million dollar deal.
- 41:09SPEAKER_06: Who was it?
- 41:10SPEAKER_08: Rick D Pietra.
- 41:13SPEAKER_08: That's your Bobby Bonia of the NHL.
- 41:15SPEAKER_08: That is Bobby Bonilla day right there.
- 41:19SPEAKER_09: Who was the GM that did that?
- 41:22SPEAKER_08: Uh oh, the uh the the the the salty announcer.
- 41:28SPEAKER_08: I'm trying to think of his name right now.
- 41:30SPEAKER_09: Um go ahead.
- 41:33SPEAKER_09: Boston Bruins legend went into the stands and threw a shoe at a guy.
- 41:38SPEAKER_09: Um, and I can't think of his name either.
- 41:44SPEAKER_06: All right, it's six to five here.
- 41:46SPEAKER_06: We have a barn burner here in St.
- 41:48SPEAKER_06: Louis, Missouri.
- 41:49SPEAKER_06: The Philadelphia Flyers goalie won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975, and won the Conn Smythe trophy both years.
- 41:57SPEAKER_06: The only player ever to win it in consecutive years.
- 42:00SPEAKER_06: Who is it?
- 42:04SPEAKER_07: Ron X saw.
- 42:08SPEAKER_06: Coach Jared.
- 42:12SPEAKER_09: 74-75 flyers, back to back cup finals, Cant Smythe.
- 42:17SPEAKER_09: Pell Lindgren.
- 42:24SPEAKER_09: What?
- 42:25SPEAKER_06: Bernie Perell.
- 42:27SPEAKER_09: Bernie Peron.
- 42:28SPEAKER_09: Barry Perron.
- 42:29SPEAKER_09: Bernie Peron.
- 42:30SPEAKER_09: Perall.
- 42:31SPEAKER_06: I don't know who's America.
- 42:32SPEAKER_09: Perl.
- 42:33SPEAKER_08: It seemed a little early for Hextahl.
- 42:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 42:34SPEAKER_09: Hexall was Hextal was the Cant Smythe when he lost.
- 42:38SPEAKER_09: Yeah, when he lost.
- 42:38SPEAKER_09: That's another one.
- 42:39SPEAKER_09: Never mind.
- 42:39SPEAKER_09: Not going there.
- 42:40SPEAKER_06: All right.
- 42:41SPEAKER_06: We have six questions left.
- 42:43SPEAKER_06: Coach Jared leads six to five.
- 42:47SPEAKER_06: Dominic Hasick won back-to-back heart trophies at his NHL MVP in 1978 and 1998.
- 42:53SPEAKER_06: The only goalie ever to do so in consecutive years.
- 42:57SPEAKER_06: Who was it, Coach Drew?
- 42:58SPEAKER_06: Or who'd he played for?
- 42:59SPEAKER_06: Pardon me.
- 43:00SPEAKER_06: Oh, the Buffalo Sabres.
- 43:04SPEAKER_05: With that.
- 43:07SPEAKER_09: Five questions left, and we're tied 6'6.
- 43:09SPEAKER_09: Let's go.
- 43:11SPEAKER_09: They may not get another question here.
- 43:13SPEAKER_06: All right.
- 43:13SPEAKER_06: Here's what we're going to do.
- 43:14SPEAKER_06: We're going to alternate now.
- 43:15SPEAKER_06: So Garrett's going to be a good question.
- 43:18SPEAKER_09: We got Ken Jennings here.
- 43:19SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 43:19SPEAKER_09: Like, geez.
- 43:20SPEAKER_09: Coach Jared, you're up here.
- 43:22SPEAKER_06: And he said in 1995, this goalie was left to net and gave up nine goals to your Detroit Red Wings.
- 43:28SPEAKER_06: He then walked to the bench and publicly demanded a trade in front of the Montreal crowd, a moment that changed the franchise forever.
- 43:34SPEAKER_09: Changed both franchises because he ended up going to the Colorado Avalanche and bouncing the wings in the playoffs.
- 43:40SPEAKER_09: That would be Patrick Wah.
- 43:43SPEAKER_06: All right, Coach Jared leads 5 4.
- 43:46SPEAKER_06: We're not doing make it too.
- 43:47SPEAKER_09: No, Coach Jared leads 7 6.

- 44:02SPEAKER_06: Who was it, Coach Drew?
- 44:03SPEAKER_08: John Van Biesbrook.
- 44:12SPEAKER_09: It is an American goalie, but it's not Van Besbrook.
- 44:15SPEAKER_06: We're not doing trades anymore.
- 44:16SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna let I can't steal it.
- 44:19SPEAKER_09: How about can I answer it?
- 44:20SPEAKER_06: You can answer it.
- 44:21SPEAKER_06: You can't steal it.
- 44:21SPEAKER_06: Mike Richter.
- 44:22SPEAKER_06: Mike Richter.
- 44:22SPEAKER_06: Mike Richter.
- 44:23SPEAKER_06: All right, we have two questions left.
- 44:24SPEAKER_06: That means if Coach Jared answers this one correctly, it's a walk-off and he wins it.
- 44:34SPEAKER_06: The Philadelphia Flyers goalie became the first in NHL history to shoot and score a goal directly in the opposing net.
- 44:42SPEAKER_06: Who was it?
- 44:44SPEAKER_09: So he was not the first goalie to be credited with a goal.
- 44:47SPEAKER_09: That was Billy Smith of the New York Islanders, but it was Ron Hacksaw Hexall.
- 44:58SPEAKER_06: Coach Sharon wins nine to seven.
- 45:01SPEAKER_06: Well called hey.
- 45:12SPEAKER_09: Or at least every other week.
- 45:14SPEAKER_08: You know, and and they were a great tandem.
- 45:16SPEAKER_08: Richter and Van Biesbrook.
- 45:18SPEAKER_08: They were the partners in crime in that 94.
- 45:20SPEAKER_09: And I think we need to bring in, as we bring in our guests, we do this with the guests.
