Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: All right, Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome in to do Vault Daily, presented by Jimjag.com.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Aluga, thanks so much for being here Tuesday, April 21st, right now.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking about.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: Your Jacksonville Jaguar is in defensive tackle position.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: They obviously traded for Rook Aurora, Friday, late Friday afternoon, traded Mason Smith away.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the Jaguar is based on what Liam Cohen said about the trade is they believe that they're getting a chance at an ascending player who has rare movement skills at his size on the interior.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: who can rush the passer, who does not really have a major drop-off in the run game compared to what they had in the building.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: They're a team that does not want to forsake the run defense for past rush.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: They want to have both at an extremely high level.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: Does the addition of Rook Aurora row mean that the Jaguar is no longer need defensive tackle.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we're talking about here today.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.

- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: All hats on the site, GenJag.com.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: These, looking at Rooka Roura, right?
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: What did he do in 2025?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: He was able to put up 32 pressures and several sacks as well.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: He was able to create some run stops, who, that's looking at the stats, right?
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think looking at the tape, you see somebody who really understands how to rush as a unit.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's really good at stunts, twist, games up front.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's good at creating disruption, freeing up other.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: past wrestlers on on some of those games that that teams will run and the jaggers will certainly run a lot of different fronts and games so I think that that's appealing.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: Someone that you do see the athleticism and strength pop and and he did test as and insane athlete like at 294 pounds which is undersized six foot four with 34 and
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: 4-8-940R dash at that size with a 32-inch vert, 908 broad, and he put up numbers on the bench press as well too I think, but he's a really good, strong athletic guy who I think showed again the ability to create disruption as a past rush or last year.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: On a defense that quite frankly, you know?
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: and a team that underperformed.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited to see what he can do in Jacksonville.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: I like them coming out of the draft like that athletic profile.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think adding rook really should change the Jaguar's draft strategy at all.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that this
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: is a move that I'm not going to say it doesn't change things that I do think group will come in and be a solid rotational russia for them.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: I see that being the case.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: I do think defensive tackles still in need though and it's not a need in the sense that the Jaguar's can't go out and play a game and play effective right now.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Look, they have Eric Rarmstadt who's going to be healthy, Ruka Roya Roe, those two guys kind of in the three tech role.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: They have obviously Devon Hamilton as one of the best interior, run defenders in football, nose tackle.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: They also have Matt Dickerson, who they brought back, who kind of can give them some reps at multiple spots along the defensive front and just do his job consistently.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not like they can't go play and play effectively, you know, combine that with Josh Hines Allen, Trayvon Walker, Danny Sturgo, BJ Green.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: But in my mind, that's not a championship caliber defensive front.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: So it's not a need in the sense that they can't play a game right now.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to bring home the Lombardi, if you want to go deeper in the playoffs, it's still a need because I do believe teams should strive to have six, maybe seven guys that can rush.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: that can create disruption in the backfield.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, if you're being generous, the Jaguars have five of those guys.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: Right, Josh Hinds Allen, Trayvon Walker.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: You could say Rook.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he produced some numbers last year.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Armstead.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: And your Sam Linebacker plays on the edge, plays a little ball, off ball, plays a little bit of both hybrid position, Dennis Gardeck.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: You gotta have more in my mind if you want to win a Super Bowl.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: That's just my opinion.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you need more on the interior.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think you need more on the edge.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think that if the board makes sense for them, this is a position, interior, at evens of line.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: that they should double dip.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: I really want the Jaguars to focus on the lines of skirmish in this draft.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: I want two offensive linemen.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: I want two defensive tackles.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: I want at least one edge.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you've got 11 picks.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: make sure you're fortifying and upgrading the trenches.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'd be doing.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: And one thing I will say, if they don't do this in the draft, that doesn't mean that they won't get that job done before the start of the regular season.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: They will have months to make a trade, potentially add somebody, right?
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: They'll also have better infreagency where you can be looking at some guys a little bit deeper that can come in and potentially help.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: go defensive tackle offensive line, defensive end, and the draft.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think the two kind of dream picks, guys that would just be unbelievable if they were somehow able to land them would be Kristen Miller, Peter Woods,
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: I honestly think Peter Woods is still a stud.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I absolutely do.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: I watch his 2024 tape.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think he dropped too much weight in 2025.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the, you can point to that.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: And you can point to Clemson just falling off as a team in 2025.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a little bit of a weird pre-draft lead up for Peter Woods, but I pop on that 20,
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: 24 tape for Peter Woods and it's all there.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: It is all there for him, man.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: And let's not forget, he's still a young prospect, right?
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: March 5th, 2005, he's only 21 years old.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think the sky's the limit for him.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: I love his game.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I'd be excited about him.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be very excited about Kristen Miller as well Who we talked a little bit about earlier?
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: Miller's bigger, right?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: kind of size-wise more in the Devon Hamilton mold, but I think he can be a run-stuffing defensive tackle like Devon, but also I think there's some untapped potential as a interior password should that you see flash for sure with Kristen Miller.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: So either one of those guys would be exciting.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Banks would obviously be exciting, but
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: the off-field or not the off-field.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: The injury concern with Caleb Banks is absolutely there.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: Talk about like a 330-pound defensive lineman who's having
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: foot issues.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's worrisome for sure.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: Some guys that I think offer a little bit of balance can probably play multiple spots can potentially be a run defender and past Russia.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think Chris McClellan, another former gator who ended up playing at Missouri, Ration Benny who just hasn't put it all together, but all the traits are there from Michigan.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Vandenberg at 310 in St. Ashley, I think he's more of a three-tech, but can do some different things for you as well.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: And then there's a bunch of guys that I think are kind of pretty specific that we can take a look at as well.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: But first, got our mind y'all about underdog, Bannacee.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: NBA playoffs.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: They're finally here in Underdog is the best place to get in on all the action playing on Underdog is easy.

- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: This week on Underdog, I'm looking at NBA.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: Palo Van Caro for your Orlando magic.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm taking higher on 20 and a half points.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: Excited to see what the magic can do against the pistons, obviously, on Wednesday night.

- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Hope line at 1-877-8.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: Hope and why?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: Or text open why?
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: 467-369.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: So the guys that get me fired up in the draft, it's the three tech type guys that real interior penetrators.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: Grace and Houghton, Caleb Proctor, Landon Robinson, those are the ones that I get most excited about.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: You also have Renee Congo, who's another one to watch for sure.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about a lot of these guys on the channel, but just, you know, we're here.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: We are here and it's gonna be fascinating to see I definitely know that Jack was will draft a defensive tackle, at least one.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: What ends up being that kind of like mold of player
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: is a more of a three-tech, is a more of a nose tackle.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to the three-tex, I think Grayson Houghton should be in play any time on day two.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think Caleb Proctor should be in play any time on day two.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think Proctor between Halten, Proctor and Robinson, the two guys that I am absolutely just a huge fan of, I think Proctor might have the best potential as just like a three down dominant force because I think he's stronger than the other two.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: and he has better length and it's great proportional length because I think he's only like six two but he has 33 and charms whereas you look at land in Robinson and Grayson Houghton they're shorter as well but their arm length also kind of matches that I think that when you talk about that that length and strength and I think
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Proctor just has strength throughout his entire frame, but he's also like insanely gifted, athletically and explosive and super productive on tape.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: And he's talking about him playing at South Eastern Louisiana.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: He kicked butt against LSU.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: He was consistently in the backfield disrupting, sacking, and thus Meyer.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'd be fired up about him on day two.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be fired up about Grace and Houghton as well.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: Houghton and Robinson are smaller,
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: Squatier, I think they're a little bit more flexible, a little bit more natural leverage, but all three of those guys had been super excited about Tyler on Yedam out of Texas A&M.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think projects in that mold as well.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Zane Durant is one that everybody brings up who he is a freak athlete.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's a lot to get excited about him as potentially an ascending player out of Penn State.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: Renee Kong, I mentioned, I like him too.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: So those are some three tech type guys.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I mentioned Jordan Vandenberg already, but that's that somebody who had be excited about, but I think he has enough size to potentially do some different things for you.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then, nose tackle wise, Kaden McDonald, I don't think he'll be anywhere in the range for the Jag wars.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: but he is a huge run stuffing defense of tackle.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: You could look at Kristen Miller in that mold as well, but I think that there's more to his game there.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: Lee Hunter, no tackle, archetype as well out of Texas tech.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's some more to his game too.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: There's a little bit enough athleticism and quickness that I think Lee Hunter could potentially have some impact on some passing downs.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think Nick Barrett out of South Carolina looks like a good nose tackle type run stuffing type, Dominique Orange, a big citrus out of Iowa State, Darrell Jackson, Jr., out of Florida State.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: These are more of those run stuffers versus those past rushers.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: What are the Jack Wars end up doing here?
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot wait to see.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_00]: When you talk about the starting line up in the two deep, like, do they have a lot of needs?
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that they have a lot of needs where they couldn't go play a game right now.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: As I mentioned, but if you're talking about winning a championship, I definitely think,
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: Continue to build those trenches, continue with defensive line, the edge group, the offensive line, and then you fill in spots elsewhere and obviously you want to draft players at the spots where.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: You're not over drafting for a position.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: You're drafting a player within the tier of players that is available on the board at a spot that can have a massive impact.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: James Latzon talked about that.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's not pure, best player available.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's a combination of,
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: having a tier of players that make sense in this range for you, and then do they have a runway?
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: Do they have a path?
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: That could be kind of a tiebreaker to some more playing time.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: So excited to see what they do.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: Got a couple days left.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the jacks don't pick till Friday night as of now, they don't have a pick in the first round, but they very well could move up into the first round and kind of
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: Put the NFL on notice.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: That would be really fascinating to see.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you did move up into the first round, the guys I'd be looking at or, you know, late first round early second round Christian Miller, Peter Woods, if they feel good about Caleb Banks and that foot situation, sure.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe y'all have a good one.
