- 0:00Speaker 1: Now I'm moving in a little bit of slow motion today,
- 0:02Speaker 1: Donald and Joelle because you can hear my voice. I
- 0:06Speaker 1: was overserved last night in Manhattan. I don't like to
- 0:08Speaker 1: be overserved anymore these days, but occasionally in Manhattan it happens.
- 0:14Speaker 2: When in Rome, you know what I mean?
- 0:16Speaker 1: Yes, just once it.
- 0:22Speaker 3: You know.
- 0:22Speaker 1: It's like everything in Manhattan is like, what are you
- 0:25Speaker 1: doing when are gonn drink? Yea, let's go a drink. Okay,
- 0:27Speaker 1: should we go to dinner? Yeah, let's get more drinks?
- 0:29Speaker 1: What should have to dinner? Do you guys want to
- 0:30Speaker 1: get some more drinks?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Oh?
- 0:34Speaker 1: Should we stop by that the bitter end and get
- 0:37Speaker 1: some more drinks? Yeah, let's go there. And then all
- 0:39Speaker 1: of a sudden it's there.
- 0:40Speaker 4: They serve you they don't drinks are strong at the
- 0:42Speaker 4: bitter end. Listen, my brother was a a He would
- 0:47Speaker 4: perform at the bitter End quite a bit.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Huh. And let me tell you something.
- 0:52Speaker 4: Every time you're like, let me get a jack and coke,
- 0:56Speaker 4: that shit is just jack with a spill. Like they
- 0:59Speaker 4: took the coke and be like and just spit on it,
- 1:01Speaker 4: like with the coke was spit like and in there
- 1:04Speaker 4: here take that they serve you well at the bitter end.
- 1:09Speaker 1: It's so funnier because I left. I left La, which
- 1:12Speaker 1: has no Christmas vibe at all, obviously, and I get
- 1:15Speaker 1: into JFK and they're like chest nuts roasting open.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It's very interesting. Yeah, go ahead.
- 1:23Speaker 1: The second you get through the airport, you feel like
- 1:25Speaker 1: you're in die Hard in the opening, and there's like
- 1:28Speaker 1: trees and wreaths and people with presents. I felt like
- 1:32Speaker 1: I was in a movie. I was like the polar
- 1:34Speaker 1: opposite of La, which is just you want Christmas, go
- 1:37Speaker 1: to the grove.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Die Hard too, you mean no?
- 1:40Speaker 1: In the opening of Oh sorry, you're right, I heard too.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Sorry sorry Donald. But wait In Diehard one and he's
- 1:47Speaker 1: getting off the plane and the passenger sees the gun.
- 1:49Speaker 1: There's is that the end. There's no terminal section.
- 1:52Speaker 4: That's the beginning, but it's him landing in La to
- 1:56Speaker 4: go visit the family. Die Hard two takes place in
- 1:59Speaker 4: the airport where the wife is coming in on the
- 2:02Speaker 4: plane him.
- 2:04Speaker 1: And he says, just the facts, ma'am. And even as
- 2:06Speaker 1: a kid, I thought that was the most horrible joke.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Do you remember that. No, he's waiting for a facts
- 2:12Speaker 1: at the counter, back in the fax machine era, and
- 2:16Speaker 1: he goes, can I get the fat fact? And she
- 2:18Speaker 1: says something I forgot if it's flirty or not or something,
- 2:20Speaker 1: and he goes, just the facts, ma'am, And I was like, wow.
- 2:24Speaker 4: I Digress. Still one of my favorite movies, though Diehard too.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Die Hard one and two are the best. Look people
- 2:32Speaker 4: will sleep on two, but two. That shit was fire
- 2:35Speaker 4: to me. When I first sar there were no opening
- 2:38Speaker 4: That was the first movie that I ever other than
- 2:39Speaker 4: Star Wars, went and saw where it just said the
- 2:43Speaker 4: opening title and then it was right into the movie
- 2:45Speaker 4: without any freaking not without any credits, And I thought
- 2:49Speaker 4: that was the coolest thing.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't like opening credits. It's a little pet
- 2:52Speaker 1: peeve of mine.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it takes people out of the movie.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Well it's an old school thing, but I all my
- 3:00Speaker 1: films have. They call it main on ends, which is
- 3:04Speaker 1: the expression which means if you if you contractually, you're
- 3:08Speaker 1: allowed to if you do if you do no one's
- 3:10Speaker 1: name at all, then you're allowed to do the credits
- 3:13Speaker 1: at the end. You can do minimal. It's like this
- 3:16Speaker 1: production company, this studio, and like the and then the
- 3:20Speaker 1: title and that's it. The second you get into any
- 3:24Speaker 1: single person's name, then it triggers having to do the
- 3:27Speaker 1: stars and the ZP and then you know, understandably everyone
- 3:30Speaker 1: who should get credit. But I love to I to me,
- 3:34Speaker 1: it's like I've always thought of it as like if
- 3:36Speaker 1: you were seeing a play and the audience came out
- 3:38Speaker 1: and took a bow before the show started. I'd rather
- 3:42Speaker 1: just get into the play and then love it and
- 3:44Speaker 1: then at the end be like, you guys are amazing.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So I think of that movies like that, I want
- 3:48Speaker 1: to watch don't don't show me names. I want to
- 3:49Speaker 1: see your movie, and then at the end, I'm like,
- 3:51Speaker 1: holy shit, all those people did a great job, you
- 3:53Speaker 1: know what I mean?
- 3:54Speaker 4: Well, I agree with that unless you were creative with
- 3:57Speaker 4: how like Baby Driver has an amazing, amazing opening credit
- 4:02Speaker 4: sequence with him dancing and the you know, walking across
- 4:06Speaker 4: the street and the names coming up in the background.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Same thing with Deadpool, you know what I mean.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Of course, it's not for everything. There's incredible title sequences,
- 4:14Speaker 1: of course, I you know, seven was like one of
- 4:16Speaker 1: the most incredible title sequences ever. But I just mean,
- 4:20Speaker 1: I guess for my style films, I just like to
- 4:21Speaker 1: get into the story.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I don't.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I especially don't like it if you don't like it,
- 4:26Speaker 1: Like it's one thing, if you're doing like a title sequence,
- 4:28Speaker 1: I especially don't like it if like the movies started,
- 4:30Speaker 1: you know, like TV shows, you're watching TV, especially like
- 4:33Speaker 1: Scrubs is a great example, and like, you know, six
- 4:36Speaker 1: minutes into the fucking show, there's still names appearing because
- 4:39Speaker 1: there's so many people that obviously deservedly deserve their credit.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And I think that's great, but you're like, oh my god,
- 4:44Speaker 1: we're still seeing names. The show's like half over.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Right right by the time you get gotten to directed by,
- 4:51Speaker 4: we're at the commercial break.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's that. What else can I tell you?
- 4:58Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:58Speaker 1: I had a fun night out the city. It's so
- 5:01Speaker 1: beautiful and christmasy here.
- 5:03Speaker 2: It's not Christmasy here.
- 5:05Speaker 1: It is not even there's not a good place to
- 5:08Speaker 1: spend Christmas at all.
- 5:10Speaker 4: It is like it's it my kid. You know what
- 5:12Speaker 4: my kid said to me. He said, Dad, I just
- 5:15Speaker 4: want to see snow for one time in my life.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Should get one of them.
- 5:18Speaker 4: I was like, wait a second, I haven't. He's like,
- 5:20Speaker 4: I don't want to see fake snow. I want to
- 5:22Speaker 4: see freaking I want to see the ship come from
- 5:25Speaker 4: the sky. I want to feel how cold it is
- 5:28Speaker 4: when it snows.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Has your kid never seen snow?
- 5:31Speaker 4: No, because we don't ski or anything like that, right,
- 5:35Speaker 4: and so like Tom and all that shit.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah, you can take them to the mountains and not
- 5:40Speaker 1: have them ski.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I don't know, I can.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I can already hear Donald's brain being like, there's bears
- 5:46Speaker 1: in the mountains.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Right right away, I'm like, what if we get caught
- 5:50Speaker 4: in a snowstorm?
- 5:51Speaker 1: I know Donald's Donald's got Donald's got the most neurotic brain,
- 5:58Speaker 1: like he's not, He's not. I know him so well
- 6:00Speaker 1: that he's thinking of like what if we need snow
- 6:02Speaker 1: shoes and we don't have snow shoes?
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, right away, right away.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I don't have chains on my tires.
- 6:08Speaker 4: If we do they have Do they have electrical outlets
- 6:12Speaker 4: to plug my car.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Into in the middle of the in the middle of
- 6:16Speaker 2: the woods. They don't. These are things? Wait you you
- 6:22Speaker 2: hung out with fifty cent for real?
- 6:24Speaker 3: Uh? No?
- 6:25Speaker 1: I was at we stopped by a Christmas party where
- 6:27Speaker 1: he all of a sudden performed and I was like, oh, wow,
- 6:30Speaker 1: that's cool.
- 6:31Speaker 2: That is pretty cool.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I don't know what you cared about me?
- 6:35Speaker 2: Did he do that one? Did he do that? Did
- 6:36Speaker 2: he do?
- 6:37Speaker 1: Think that's the one? But I'm a motherfucking p I
- 6:39Speaker 1: M P.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I love that song.
- 6:43Speaker 1: What's going on with you? Joelle? How you doing?
- 6:46Speaker 5: I'm so good. I just spent an insane amount of
- 6:48Speaker 5: money on Kendrick Omire tickets, but I didn't want to
- 6:51Speaker 5: miss the event, and I'm very excited about it, and
- 6:56Speaker 5: I just keep looking at them and I'm like, it's
- 6:57Speaker 5: gonna be the greatest concert of all time. And la
- 7:00Speaker 5: off of the super Bowl March cankis I want to say.
- 7:03Speaker 2: You didn't want to wait for the super Bowl. The
- 7:05Speaker 2: super Bowl is going to be a pretty good concert too.
- 7:06Speaker 2: I imagine.
- 7:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not going to the super Bowl. Tickets are
- 7:09Speaker 5: crazy expensive. He's gonna be at the New Dodgers Stadium
- 7:17Speaker 5: performing in March, so it'll be like right after the
- 7:20Speaker 5: super Bowl, so let'll just bleed right into it. It's
- 7:21Speaker 5: gonna be great.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Listen. I was with Andrew Watt last night and I
- 7:27Speaker 1: was singing Christmas Carls in the Streets and I said,
- 7:31Speaker 1: you know, because I reposted the baby It's Cold outside
- 7:34Speaker 1: that Donald and I did years ago, and while I
- 7:39Speaker 1: was singing Christmas Carl's chest Nuts roasting not an open fun,
- 7:45Speaker 1: I was like, Donald and I should do a Christmas
- 7:47Speaker 1: album and he goes, he goes, I'll produce one song.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And I go, what do you mean? And he goes,
- 7:54Speaker 1: I'll right, you guys, one original Christmas song for the album.
- 7:59Speaker 4: We got to write a wit so we could get
- 8:00Speaker 4: paid for them, so we can get them royalties, bro,
- 8:03Speaker 4: we can get them, Mariah Carroll.
- 8:05Speaker 1: That's where your your head goes. First. I'm saying, like
- 8:09Speaker 1: we can do old standards. I want to do it
- 8:11Speaker 1: like with the orchestra, like like Seth McFarlane does with
- 8:13Speaker 1: the orchestra. I want to do it with an orchestra
- 8:17Speaker 1: and get stars maybe. And then and then, but Andrews
- 8:22Speaker 1: said he would write us one original Christmas song.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Right, and we got to write it with him because
- 8:29Speaker 4: that's how Mariah Carrey gets all that money every year,
- 8:32Speaker 4: her and freaking in.
- 8:35Speaker 1: The monetary route. I'm just thinking, like, we're gonna have
- 8:37Speaker 1: a fire album.
- 8:38Speaker 4: I know the album. I'm not worried about the album
- 8:40Speaker 4: being fire. I already know that's that's that's that's gonna
- 8:43Speaker 4: happen regardless. But what's important is that we can open
- 8:47Speaker 4: up the vault. Thank you every Christmas.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Yeah, like Mariah, Like Mariah, she.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Makes something like twenty million dollars every Christmas.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Is that real or is that just internet rumor?
- 9:03Speaker 4: How many times get on that? How many times have
- 9:06Speaker 4: you heard that song already?
- 9:09Speaker 1: Well, I don't really listen to now you don't have to.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Listen to the radio. That ship's on television too.
- 9:15Speaker 4: All right, I'm surprised you didn't go to the open
- 9:19Speaker 4: mic last night and hear a version of that ship.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Now we stopped by.
- 9:25Speaker 1: We stopped by, and Andrew just played guitar for a
- 9:27Speaker 1: second and we left. It was cool, but we didn't.
- 9:29Speaker 1: There wasn't like we weren't there long enough for people
- 9:31Speaker 1: to be like, I know, well a lot of fun kusu.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Annie, come on, okay.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Mariah Carey herself has said that she makes three million
- 9:46Speaker 5: dollars a year just from all I Want from Christmas
- 9:49Speaker 5: is You? Not the Christmas album, but just that one song.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Three million dollars a year just from the single alone.
- 9:58Speaker 2: That is a Christmas that all of us deserve to
- 10:02Speaker 2: have feeling.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Mariah probably doesn't even notice that three million going the
- 10:06Speaker 1: bank account.
- 10:08Speaker 4: I bet you she does. I bet you she goes.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Every year she goes, how much did we make this year?
- 10:13Speaker 3: Three million?
- 10:13Speaker 2: Riot?
- 10:15Speaker 1: She think like, Mariah making three million dollars is like
- 10:18Speaker 1: you making a hundred bucks?
- 10:20Speaker 2: No, I know when I make a hundred bucks. Bro
- 10:25Speaker 2: my name.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Somebody calls Mariah like, hey, the thirty million came in.
- 10:31Speaker 1: She's like, I can't talk right now. I'm on the treadmill.
- 10:38Speaker 5: You see the video over her doing the treadmill and heels.
- 10:41Speaker 1: She's so a stepmaster I think, wasn't it the step Master?
- 10:44Speaker 5: It might have been step Master. I can't remember.
- 10:47Speaker 1: What do they call it? Step master? Is that what
- 10:49Speaker 1: that machine's called?
- 10:51Speaker 5: Stare Master?
- 10:52Speaker 1: I was from stare Master. That was from her cribs?
- 10:56Speaker 5: I think, yeah, back in the day, it was like a.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Classic TV clip of her doing with with like with
- 11:02Speaker 1: high pumps.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Was she singing and doing it?
- 11:07Speaker 1: No, she was like you know remember old school cribs.
- 11:09Speaker 1: You'd give a tour and she'd be like, this is
- 11:11Speaker 1: my workout room and she was like in pump heels
- 11:13Speaker 1: on the StairMaster.
- 11:15Speaker 4: I never understood that. I never and you can't do
- 11:17Speaker 4: that in this day and age. Man you can't do
- 11:19Speaker 4: a cribs this day in age.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Well, you will see like flex about your fucking wealth.
- 11:23Speaker 2: And they will come and rob your ass too.
- 11:25Speaker 5: Even rentals, Like most of the cribs places were rentals
- 11:30Speaker 5: and people live there. That's true.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Yes, that's only for somebody's cares. I don't think Redman's
- 11:37Speaker 4: was a rental because this dude was walking around like
- 11:41Speaker 4: a hell I live in an apartment in Brick City?
- 11:48Speaker 1: Was that real?
- 11:49Speaker 3: Yo?
- 11:50Speaker 6: Dude?
- 11:50Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 11:51Speaker 7: Man, yeah, my god. It was a wild didn't he
- 11:55Speaker 7: have a freezer with money in it? He put some
- 11:57Speaker 7: doorway for the future freeze the dough.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Who could we get to produce our Christmas album? Donald?
- 12:04Speaker 1: We need like a no, he's not going to do that.
- 12:08Speaker 5: About who.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Charlie Charlie we need? He's not going to produce a
- 12:14Speaker 1: Christmas album for us. We need someone who's like gonna
- 12:17Speaker 1: give us the time.
- 12:18Speaker 5: Mm hmmm.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 12:22Speaker 1: By the way, did you ever get any emails with
- 12:24Speaker 1: anyone saying about what they would do with Donald's.
- 12:30Speaker 5: We have a couple of d ms confirming that, just
- 12:34Speaker 5: a couple. Listen audio. Here's the d ms I I
- 12:41Speaker 5: have acces. I don't check all of my d MS
- 12:42Speaker 5: were like, wow, yeah, no, Donald can totally get it
- 12:44Speaker 5: on OnlyFans and he would make a lot of money.
- 12:47Speaker 5: Let me I could check our Gmail and see if
- 12:49Speaker 5: we have any.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Because well check the Gmail because we asked for audio
- 12:55Speaker 1: and I would love.
- 12:56Speaker 5: To hear some ado. Okay, yeah, if.
- 12:59Speaker 1: You have any, you could share your screen. By the way,
- 13:01Speaker 1: when I posted when I posted the baby It's Cold
- 13:04Speaker 1: Outside video, the funniest comments where this is the content
- 13:08Speaker 1: I want to see on Donald's only fans.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Do you remember when everybody was like, baby it's cold
- 13:21Speaker 4: outside shouldn't be sung.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and I understand why, but uh.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Come on, man, with all the music that's out today.
- 13:28Speaker 1: No, I know, but I you know whatever, people. I
- 13:31Speaker 1: understand people are having problems with it. But I posted
- 13:36Speaker 1: the clip that didn't have the controversial lyrics, although it
- 13:39Speaker 1: did have Hey what he drink? Yeah, but I think
- 13:43Speaker 1: it's because it was you and me. It was okay,
- 13:45Speaker 1: well you got anything, You're smiling?
- 13:47Speaker 5: Hold on getting into the out Donald, What.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Are you getting your kids for Christmas? You're getting them
- 13:53Speaker 1: Oh you told me video computers for video games.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Yes, so look this is what we're doing. Kids are
- 14:00Speaker 2: really into.
- 14:03Speaker 4: The YouTube culture where you play video game like like
- 14:07Speaker 4: what Daniel Daniel does the twitch called Twitter. Yeah, they're
- 14:11Speaker 4: very into it. My daughter wants to do something that's
- 14:15Speaker 4: similar to a podcast where you know what I mean.
- 14:18Speaker 4: So we were like, what we can do is we
- 14:20Speaker 4: can buy the equipment for it and they can pretend
- 14:25Speaker 4: to do it, but every really never goes anywhere.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I make sure you don't upload like
- 14:31Speaker 1: the Wilder phase on podcast. God knows what I's gonna say, right.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Did you see that that viral video of the little girl.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I guess her mom said you can go in the
- 14:41Speaker 1: bathroom and curse. And she goes in the bathroom and
- 14:43Speaker 1: just starts cursing. That was the funniest thing I ever saw.
- 14:47Speaker 1: There's a bunch of you can see her running out
- 14:48Speaker 1: of curses and she's trying to think of him. Do
- 14:50Speaker 1: you know what I'm talking about.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a bunch of them. There's a bunch of them.
- 14:55Speaker 1: This one, This one was so funny. I guess I
- 14:57Speaker 1: guess the context was her mom was like, I will
- 14:59Speaker 1: give you thirty seconds and you can go in the
- 15:01Speaker 1: bathroom and you can say whatever curses you want. It
- 15:05Speaker 1: was so funny, but then she runs out and she's.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Like, jerk, Uh are you happy to be in New York.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I'm having so much fun. I'm going to see a
- 15:22Speaker 1: play with Josh Raiden tonight.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I'm jealous.
- 15:26Speaker 1: The whole Lawrence Posse is coming into town. I'm gonna
- 15:28Speaker 1: see Bill and we're gonna go to restaurants and we're
- 15:31Speaker 1: seeing We're going to see Audiram McDonald and Gypsy opening nights.
- 15:35Speaker 2: So jealous.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Oh, good fucking joous my soul.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Audra McDonald, you know I love that show. I have
- 15:41Speaker 1: such a place, special place in my heart for that show.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I was I did it. I was involved with it
- 15:46Speaker 1: when I was a kid in community theater. I just
- 15:49Speaker 1: I've always.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Loved that original Shirley McLain.
- 15:53Speaker 1: No it was I think a Jel Lands No, No, no, really, no, no,
- 16:02Speaker 1: she did it maybe second I just read this, Uh all.
- 16:07Speaker 4: I remember was I remember the Shirley McClain poster, and
- 16:10Speaker 4: I remember the Debbie.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Allen postern Oh my gosh, scha Welle's doing so original.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Listen when I was younger. I'm gonna I'm gonna date myself.
- 16:20Speaker 4: She's played my mom in in In the next day,
- 16:23Speaker 4: or she played my mom. But I was so in
- 16:26Speaker 4: love with Debbie Allen. Oh my god.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Everybody's like Felicia were shot. I was like, no, Debbie.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Allen, Okay, here we go. This is someone who was
- 16:36Speaker 1: asked if he would tune in if Donald had an
- 16:39Speaker 1: only fans Hey, Joell.
- 16:41Speaker 3: My name is Luke Stige.
- 16:43Speaker 8: I am not only a gay man that would subscribe
- 16:48Speaker 8: to Donald's only fans account because I love you Donald,
- 16:50Speaker 8: You're everything.
- 16:52Speaker 5: But I am also as a side gig.
- 16:56Speaker 8: I managed some of my friend's only fans account to
- 16:59Speaker 8: have popular only fans, and so I have a little
- 17:03Speaker 8: bit of analytics here for you. I not only do
- 17:05Speaker 8: I run like women's only fans accounts. I run a
- 17:09Speaker 8: man's only fans account.
- 17:11Speaker 2: And I will.
- 17:12Speaker 8: Say I would say there are women's subscribers, it's a
- 17:16Speaker 8: low percent, probably ten to fifteen percent. It's mostly gay
- 17:20Speaker 8: men subscribing to men's only fans accounts.
- 17:25Speaker 9: And as far as content, you know, the man he
- 17:30Speaker 9: just like kind of makes. It's like stupid contents like
- 17:33Speaker 9: oh me jerking off with my bro or.
- 17:38Speaker 5: That's er off.
- 17:41Speaker 8: Of your friends, or can I see you you know,
- 17:45Speaker 8: not doing that. A lot of gay men like one
- 17:48Speaker 8: like solo content, which is kind of abnormal because with
- 17:51Speaker 8: the women's accounts that I run, they use the women's
- 17:55Speaker 8: be like sex tapes any here. I have a lot
- 17:58Speaker 8: more info on it. If you ever want anymore only
- 18:01Speaker 8: fans content, let me know.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Yeah, we need to we need to have one the show.
- 18:05Speaker 2: You need to be on the show.
- 18:06Speaker 8: I've been listening since.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you, watch Kid, thank you you guys.
- 18:12Speaker 8: I love you AnyWho Okay, bye.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Thank you. Back at Great Joe and pull him as
- 18:17Speaker 1: a guest.
- 18:18Speaker 5: He needs to.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Come on it, and we need to have a conversation
- 18:21Speaker 4: about what I need to do to get my only
- 18:24Speaker 4: fans popping so I can make this animated short.
- 18:27Speaker 2: This animated short is going to be made well, he says.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Money.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Y'all listen, he said. The number one thing is like,
- 18:33Speaker 1: I'm beating off with my bro, and I just want
- 18:35Speaker 1: you to know that I'm not going to be your brother.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Totally going to be my bro.
- 18:38Speaker 1: No, I don't care about animation. I don't give a
- 18:48Speaker 1: funk about your animation. I'm not going to beat off
- 18:51Speaker 1: on your only fans, Joel, are there any others?
- 18:54Speaker 2: Do you know how much money we would make?
- 18:57Speaker 5: Money, appreciate them for you next time.
- 19:00Speaker 1: As much like Donald's only Fans, you have successfully edged
- 19:09Speaker 1: me and I am chillated to no more. Oh my god,
- 19:18Speaker 1: yeah me too. You know what's funny is that I
- 19:22Speaker 1: don't I'm sorry to spoil anyone who thinks they're having
- 19:25Speaker 1: a real relationship with an OnlyFans person, But the people
- 19:28Speaker 1: who who who manage these accounts are guys like that.
- 19:34Speaker 4: You know, there are people I don't have an only
- 19:37Speaker 4: fans relationship. I have a real relationship with my wife,
- 19:40Speaker 4: so I can't.
- 19:41Speaker 1: You know, I'm sure there's people with low amounts of
- 19:43Speaker 1: followers who maybe are doing the communicating. I'm guessing I
- 19:46Speaker 1: don't know. But anyone who's who's gotten a huge following
- 19:51Speaker 1: and there's some guy in the d M is being like,
- 19:55Speaker 1: she's texting me how my day is? And it's like
- 20:01Speaker 1: literally that guy in his car being like, hey babe,
- 20:04Speaker 1: thinking of you, and the guy is thinking like, oh
- 20:07Speaker 1: my god, it's this OnlyFans mode, right.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Oh my god, trip by Bree just hit me up.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Right, Oh, we got another.
- 20:12Speaker 5: One to quick voicemail from a female fans. Let's see
- 20:16Speaker 5: what she has to say.
- 20:17Speaker 10: Yes, Hi, Joelle, I don't know if you'll remember me.
- 20:22Speaker 10: My name is Timika. I'm the Spanish teacher from New
- 20:25Speaker 10: Jersey who sent a few voicemailoris about trying really hard
- 20:29Speaker 10: to like season nine of Scrubs and just not being
- 20:31Speaker 10: able to get there. I was listening to today's episode
- 20:35Speaker 10: and the only fans conversation that's continuing, and you didn't
- 20:39Speaker 10: ask for feedback from straight women, But I thought i'd
- 20:41Speaker 10: be helpful and put the question to Bed about whether
- 20:44Speaker 10: or not straight women are subscribing to OnlyFans, And the
- 20:47Speaker 10: answer is a fuckingly not. The reason is supine demand.
- 20:51Speaker 10: There is no dick shortage for us. They show up
- 20:54Speaker 10: in any text messages, they show up on dating apps,
- 20:58Speaker 10: They show up whether or not you want them, and
- 21:00Speaker 10: never actually ask for them. So no, you don't go
- 21:03Speaker 10: online and subscribe to dixieing services.
- 21:06Speaker 5: It's basic economics.
- 21:08Speaker 10: However, I do think there is an OnlyFans avenue for you, Donald.
- 21:12Speaker 10: Everyone enjoys looking at someone who is attractive, which you are.
- 21:15Speaker 10: Don't let these people dim or shine. But behavior tends
- 21:19Speaker 10: to be very stimulating for women because behavior lets us
- 21:22Speaker 10: infer things about what kind of lover you'll be. I'm
- 21:26Speaker 10: pretty sure someone smart said that the brain is the
- 21:29Speaker 10: greatest sex organ or something like that. So I think
- 21:31Speaker 10: your golden ticket may be to start and only fans
- 21:34Speaker 10: focused on behavior that women want to see and are lacking.
- 21:39Speaker 10: I hear married women are exhausted, and maybe they'd pay
- 21:42Speaker 10: to watch a man share the mental and emotional load
- 21:45Speaker 10: of running a home without expecting praise or sex in return,
- 21:49Speaker 10: like in the rom cons or in the romance novels.
- 21:52Speaker 2: That make us swoon.
- 21:53Speaker 10: So like do the dishes and vacuum and help with
- 21:57Speaker 10: kids homework, and like.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Just do it, sn't expect It's exactly.
- 22:02Speaker 10: I'm gonna say that their husbands would probably fit the
- 22:04Speaker 10: bill because they'll be happy to have their wives hot
- 22:06Speaker 10: in the pants and you could make your money. Just
- 22:08Speaker 10: don't do it naked, because we are good on dick
- 22:11Speaker 10: and balls for thought. On happy holidays everyone.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Well, Mika coming through again.
- 22:18Speaker 4: I'm gonna say something. She has a great idea. I
- 22:22Speaker 4: think I could do an only fans where I'm washing dishes,
- 22:25Speaker 4: I'm cooking food, I'm helping my kids with their homework.
- 22:29Speaker 4: I mean I do wash dishes, I do cook the food.
- 22:32Speaker 4: I don't necessarily help with the homework. Case he's way smarter.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Excuse me, excuse me, she's way smarter than me in
- 22:39Speaker 4: that capacity. But I mean, I think I could do
- 22:43Speaker 4: that type of stuff.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Right, But isn't it interesting what Tamika finds sexy is
- 22:47Speaker 1: exactly what the sex therapist said you should be doing
- 22:52Speaker 1: to turn your own wife on.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but I expect sex after that, you know what
- 22:56Speaker 2: I mean.
- 22:57Speaker 1: But I'm saying Tamika is agreeing with the the sex therapy.
- 23:01Speaker 1: She's saying, like, women don't want to see dicks. We
- 23:03Speaker 1: get dicks everywhere, dick picks sent to us. We don't
- 23:07Speaker 1: want that. We would be hot and bothered by you
- 23:10Speaker 1: being doing the dishes, helping around the house. Chore what
- 23:15Speaker 1: do they call it? Chor play?
- 23:16Speaker 2: Sure? Play? Look, I am down to do it for
- 23:18Speaker 2: animation money.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Okay, well I think about that. Thank you, Timika.
- 23:22Speaker 4: That was great, Thank you, Tamika. I am down to
- 23:24Speaker 4: make some animation money.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Okay.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Washing, I don't know that I'm gonna subscribe to your
- 23:29Speaker 1: only fans watching you watch washed dishes.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Well, a mixture, it'd be a mixture.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Be a lot of times you don't know somedays, Yeah,
- 23:38Speaker 1: a lot of times you don't know that you're into
- 23:40Speaker 1: a kink until you see.
- 23:41Speaker 4: It, right, you know, I mean it could be you
- 23:44Speaker 4: and me washing dish. Hey, you're just washing dishes with
- 23:47Speaker 4: my bro and we'm saying.
- 23:48Speaker 1: If I'm watching it for all I know, I'm not.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I'm not. Let's say I'm watching you wash dishes because
- 23:56Speaker 1: I'm trying to support you. I've subscribed your only fans,
- 23:59Speaker 1: I've bought the Donald washing dishes video. And then all
- 24:03Speaker 1: of a sudden, I'm like rock Heart and I'm like, whoa,
- 24:06Speaker 1: I never knew I had this kink.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Wow, that would be very interesting. Yeah about it.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I don't think it's gay if it's just dishes. Well, Joelle.
- 24:21Speaker 5: Subtracted to the same sex, and then it qualifies as gay.
- 24:24Speaker 5: I don't know if the.
- 24:25Speaker 4: Actual all right, I shot a stand up comic saying
- 24:29Speaker 4: this stand up car She was so funny, it was brilliant.
- 24:31Speaker 4: She was like, you know, true sex equality and hatred
- 24:37Speaker 4: and bigotry will be out the window when dudes can
- 24:40Speaker 4: be like to their bros. Yo, you remember that time
- 24:44Speaker 4: when I was gay for a little bit and they'd
- 24:47Speaker 4: be like, yeah, man, you was fucking gay as fuck.
- 24:49Speaker 4: From like two thousand and three to two thousand and
- 24:51Speaker 4: four dog and then people she's like, and then the liberal,
- 24:57Speaker 4: the liberal would be in back and be like bisexual and.
- 24:59Speaker 2: They'd be like no, no, no, no, no, no, you as.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Gay as fuck, dude, and they would be all right
- 25:05Speaker 4: and they would be able to still be buddies and
- 25:06Speaker 4: ship like that. That's when Bigo tree, you know, that's
- 25:10Speaker 4: when Bigotree is out the window.
- 25:12Speaker 3: All right?
- 25:13Speaker 2: Is here pizza? Six seven?
- 25:16Speaker 6: Eight? Stories about show? We made about a bunch of
- 25:21Speaker 6: talks and nurses.
- 25:22Speaker 2: And I said, here's the stories, net No, so YadA
- 25:31Speaker 2: rall here, yeada ra here swear for me?
- 25:37Speaker 1: No, oh my god, wow, Ted, that's welcome to the program.
- 25:44Speaker 1: That is Joel Monique are our producer.
- 25:48Speaker 3: All right.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I don't know if you and Donald have met before.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Do you guys know each other?
- 25:53Speaker 2: Did we meet at Christmas party?
- 25:54Speaker 3: Yes? Yes, yeah, yes, it was quite a pleasure for me.
- 25:58Speaker 2: It was a pleasure for me as well. You have
- 26:00Speaker 2: no idea.
- 26:01Speaker 3: I've been a big fan of yours for a long time.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Even I've never seen scrubs. You know.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Ever, he's not.
- 26:09Speaker 1: He's not lying. And the reason he's not lying. We'll
- 26:12Speaker 1: get right into it. Audience is that there were two
- 26:15Speaker 1: men who were up for the at the end for
- 26:18Speaker 1: doctor Cox, and one was John McGinley and one was
- 26:21Speaker 1: Ted McGinley.
- 26:24Speaker 3: And so drove me at that day. Oh sorry, I
- 26:27Speaker 3: was gonna say, I drove a lot that day. And
- 26:29Speaker 3: I got to the guard and he said what's your name?
- 26:31Speaker 3: And I said McGinley, And he goes, sure, it's already
- 26:35Speaker 3: McGinley here, and I said, no, I'm I'm also, what
- 26:39Speaker 3: sh are you testing for? It? Scrubs? He's already here.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Nice try No, I'm the other one. I didn't know,
- 26:46Speaker 3: so I was surprised and it went downhill from there.
- 26:51Speaker 1: What happened at your audition? Did you did you feel
- 26:53Speaker 1: that it didn't go well? Or did it go well?
- 26:55Speaker 1: And then Johnny was just more right in Bill's mind?
- 26:58Speaker 4: How did that?
- 26:58Speaker 1: What happened?
- 26:59Speaker 3: Well, you know, it's funny. I you know, you go
- 27:03Speaker 3: to many auditions leading up to that, right to that
- 27:06Speaker 3: moment when you go to the to the studio. So
- 27:09Speaker 3: I've had a lot of really good auditions. I felt
- 27:11Speaker 3: great about the character, and I thought I had a
- 27:15Speaker 3: good shot. I knew there were two people going. I
- 27:17Speaker 3: didn't know who the other one was, and thank god
- 27:21Speaker 3: I didn't know it was John, And I think it
- 27:26Speaker 3: went like all my auditions probably went very poorly.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Right, Are you a bad auditioner?
- 27:33Speaker 1: Yeah, he said that in the past. He's not a
- 27:34Speaker 1: good auditioner. We'll talk about that because I'm curious when
- 27:37Speaker 1: you're at Donald agrees with you. But why, why what
- 27:40Speaker 1: happens to you? We have a lot of actors that listen.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I'm sure they'd love to you're now. You're a very
- 27:44Speaker 1: successful actor, so people probably want to know what happens.
- 27:49Speaker 3: I'm nervous. I'm a nervous auditioner, I think, and it
- 27:54Speaker 3: makes it it makes it tricky. I'm also dyslexic, so
- 27:58Speaker 3: if I'm on paper, I can do anything on paper.
- 28:02Speaker 3: So I always try to, you know, get everything into
- 28:04Speaker 3: my head, and then i'm it's just too many things
- 28:06Speaker 3: going on. So yeah, I seem to be better once
- 28:09Speaker 3: I have the job. I feel a little more secure.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I feel like the people don't hate me. I have
- 28:17Speaker 3: a lot of that actor stuff going, but I just
- 28:21Speaker 3: don't think. I've just never really. My wife's an amazing
- 28:24Speaker 3: audition she she's so good at it, and so I
- 28:28Speaker 3: watched people who are who are excellent. I just said,
- 28:31Speaker 3: how come I don't have any of that in me?
- 28:33Speaker 2: I wondered the same thing. I feel like I've missed
- 28:35Speaker 2: out on so much.
- 28:36Speaker 4: And I think I have a really great career, but
- 28:39Speaker 4: I feel like I've missed out on so much because
- 28:41Speaker 4: of my fear of auditioning. Like I've there's parts where
- 28:46Speaker 4: they were like, they love you and they want you
- 28:47Speaker 4: for the part, they just need you to audition, and
- 28:49Speaker 4: I'm like, fuck it, I'm not going in.
- 28:51Speaker 3: That's exactly going in the same with me, exactly the
- 28:55Speaker 3: same is that I just, you know, I know I'm
- 28:58Speaker 3: their pick, and then I go in and I just
- 29:02Speaker 3: I put too much on it, and then I just
- 29:04Speaker 3: always I think when I started in on Happy Days,
- 29:08Speaker 3: I always felt like the other side of the table
- 29:10Speaker 3: hated me, the producers and the directors, and so I
- 29:15Speaker 3: think I carried that, and I think maybe they did,
- 29:18Speaker 3: but they carried through, just carried through.
- 29:22Speaker 1: You know, Ted, you probably don't know this, but Donald
- 29:24Speaker 1: fucked up his Scrubs audition too, and Donald you can
- 29:29Speaker 1: tell the story. But Bill found him at the elevator
- 29:31Speaker 1: and was like, bro, what was that again? Brought it
- 29:34Speaker 1: back in right?
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Well he said.
- 29:38Speaker 4: We were all waiting in the lobby for the announcement,
- 29:42Speaker 4: who was going to go home and everything like that,
- 29:45Speaker 4: and he came out and he was like, all right,
- 29:49Speaker 4: everybody can go Donald, you stay. Yeah, and everybody immediately thought,
- 29:54Speaker 4: oh shit, he got the part.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:57Speaker 4: I walk into the waiting room, and before we walk
- 30:03Speaker 4: into the room with all of this with Jeff Zucker
- 30:07Speaker 4: and the rest of the studio in there and the network,
- 30:10Speaker 4: and he stops me and goes, now, look, you really
- 30:14Speaker 4: did a you fucked up in that first audition.
- 30:19Speaker 2: And he said I kind of get a sense that
- 30:21Speaker 2: you know you did too. I need you to go
- 30:24Speaker 2: in there and do it like you did it all
- 30:26Speaker 2: these other times.
- 30:28Speaker 1: And I was like, oh shit, did you know what
- 30:31Speaker 1: you had? Did you know what he meant?
- 30:33Speaker 4: I was so big I got you know what I mean?
- 30:35Speaker 4: I was like, here we go, it's me again. Don't
- 30:38Speaker 4: o'fashuns back. And he was like, dude, what the fuck?
- 30:42Speaker 2: Calm down? Yeah, bring it down there, Yeah, that's me,
- 30:46Speaker 2: that's me.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Bring it down, and let's do it again. And this time,
- 30:50Speaker 4: try and be as real as possible. Don't go for
- 30:52Speaker 4: the jokes, just be real. And I went in there
- 30:55Speaker 4: and that's what happened. I just I said forget trying
- 30:58Speaker 4: to go for the jokes, and then I got the
- 31:00Speaker 4: call later on it. I got the part that night,
- 31:02Speaker 4: and I was like, oh god, man, I thought, I
- 31:04Speaker 4: thought this was going to be like there's so many
- 31:06Speaker 4: movies that I went out for and this is this
- 31:10Speaker 4: is why I started smoking weed too while acting no bullshit,
- 31:14Speaker 4: because I thought, maybe this will calm me down, maybe
- 31:17Speaker 4: this will make me relax a little bit.
- 31:20Speaker 2: And it never it it.
- 31:23Speaker 4: I remember my agent saying, the part is yours. All
- 31:27Speaker 4: you got to do is go in there an audition.
- 31:29Speaker 4: And I went in an audition and I could tell
- 31:31Speaker 4: halfway through I lost the job.
- 31:33Speaker 1: You know, there's so many you know, for those of
- 31:34Speaker 1: you who aren't actors, there's so many variables. You have
- 31:38Speaker 1: the you have your nervous energy, you have what happened
- 31:40Speaker 1: to you that morning, you have whatever's going on in
- 31:42Speaker 1: your mind from your life, your family, your partner. Then
- 31:46Speaker 1: you go into the waiting room and there's all the
- 31:48Speaker 1: energy of the waiting room. You might see a star,
- 31:50Speaker 1: a bigger you know. When I live in a room
- 31:52Speaker 1: was me and scrubs. I was a waiter and I
- 31:54Speaker 1: saw stars in the waiting room. I was like, what
- 31:55Speaker 1: the fuck am I doing here? I'm not going to
- 31:57Speaker 1: get this. That guy's famous. And then sometimes you can
- 32:00Speaker 1: hear the people going in the room and you're like,
- 32:02Speaker 1: oh my god, I'm not doing it like that? Is
- 32:04Speaker 1: that what they want?
- 32:05Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 32:06Speaker 1: And then there's also these mind games in the waiting
- 32:08Speaker 1: room where actors will try and distract you. They'll try
- 32:10Speaker 1: and like engage you in conversations, so you're not even
- 32:13Speaker 1: like like focusing and thinking about the sides. You're like
- 32:15Speaker 1: shooting the shit with some guy who sometimes is trying
- 32:18Speaker 1: to fucking sabotage you. There's all this dynamics, and then
- 32:21Speaker 1: you can go into the room and they've had a
- 32:23Speaker 1: bad day and they're tired and they're not laughing at you,
- 32:25Speaker 1: and then you just get in your head and like, oh,
- 32:27Speaker 1: I suck. You know, there's so many things tell is
- 32:32Speaker 1: on the way there.
- 32:34Speaker 3: You have a contract to be signed for the next
- 32:36Speaker 3: seven years of your life. So if you happen to
- 32:38Speaker 3: be a waiter, you know when they make these deals,
- 32:41Speaker 3: they're like seven years long, and all of a sudden,
- 32:43Speaker 3: overnight your life changes. So that adds to this, especially
- 32:48Speaker 3: if you have kids and a family. That is it's
- 32:53Speaker 3: so real. It's it's so unreally real that it adds
- 32:57Speaker 3: so much on there. But I think I just really
- 32:59Speaker 3: got the bad habit of thinking that everybody on the
- 33:05Speaker 3: other side already doesn't like me, and that you know,
- 33:08Speaker 3: It's very funny. When I first started the business, before
- 33:11Speaker 3: I had any idea what I was doing, I would
- 33:14Speaker 3: go up for things, and if they didn't hire me,
- 33:17Speaker 3: I always felt bad for them. I was like, oh, wow,
- 33:22Speaker 3: you blew it too bad. I mean, you blew a
- 33:24Speaker 3: good thing. And then as time goes by, you sort
- 33:28Speaker 3: of walk in the room like, I know, I know,
- 33:31Speaker 3: I know I'm not right for this, but I'm gonna
- 33:33Speaker 3: throw it up there anyway. And and you've been beaten
- 33:36Speaker 3: down by so many times by that point and just
- 33:39Speaker 3: go I get it. I wouldn't pick me either. There's
- 33:42Speaker 3: that element that is heartbreaking, but it's part of the
- 33:46Speaker 3: history of your I mean, after a while, I admire
- 33:50Speaker 3: people who just say I should.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Have this, Yeah, you know, I gotta be. There's there's
- 33:57Speaker 4: two things that this this industry does to you that's
- 34:02Speaker 4: so fucked up, but it's what it is, and I
- 34:05Speaker 4: get it. If you come off of something hot, like,
- 34:09Speaker 4: you know, I did a play that Steve Martin wrote
- 34:14Speaker 4: with a really dope cast, and I felt so good
- 34:18Speaker 4: about where I was as an actor. Went on a
- 34:22Speaker 4: bunch of auditions and didn't get shipped, and I couldn't
- 34:25Speaker 4: under I was that shit was like, wait a second, yeah,
- 34:28Speaker 4: you know what the fuck?
- 34:29Speaker 2: Man?
- 34:30Speaker 4: I just did fucking eight shows a week at fucking
- 34:35Speaker 4: the Old Globe.
- 34:35Speaker 5: How am I not?
- 34:36Speaker 3: You know?
- 34:37Speaker 2: How how do they not see what the audio? I
- 34:40Speaker 2: was killing it on that shit.
- 34:41Speaker 4: I was also on a television show where everybody was like, yo,
- 34:44Speaker 4: Donald Daison has graduated from comedy to drama. And I
- 34:49Speaker 4: thought after that X Men would be calling, fucking Marvel
- 34:52Speaker 4: would be all these my Star Wars is going to
- 34:55Speaker 4: be calling, and nobody fucking called.
- 34:58Speaker 2: And it was like what the fuck?
- 35:00Speaker 4: Everybody just said how good I was and nobody's calling.
- 35:04Speaker 4: It's such a mind fuck. This industry is so humbling
- 35:07Speaker 4: and and and look I said it before, I think
- 35:10Speaker 4: I did pretty well for myself. Ted, I know you
- 35:13Speaker 4: did great for yourself, but there's just that feeling of
- 35:17Speaker 4: you know, I'm not good enough. You hear knows so
- 35:20Speaker 4: much in this industry that that one, yes, it doesn't
- 35:23Speaker 4: really change the It doesn't change the the uh, the
- 35:27Speaker 4: thought process in your head.
- 35:28Speaker 2: It doesn't take away the insecurity. It freaking you. Hear
- 35:32Speaker 2: knows so much that that one.
- 35:33Speaker 4: Yes, yes, it's gratifying and it's great and you feel
- 35:35Speaker 4: good for that split second, but you know that could
- 35:38Speaker 4: be taken away too.
- 35:39Speaker 2: I got fired, dude, I got fired after a table
- 35:42Speaker 2: read once.
- 35:42Speaker 3: I was like, what the fuck?
- 35:44Speaker 2: I didn't even get to really, I didn't even really
- 35:46Speaker 2: get to do this shit the way I wanted to
- 35:47Speaker 2: do it, you know what I mean.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Like, it's just I'm surprised that I'll get fired after
- 35:51Speaker 3: every table reading. I am right, every single table reading.
- 35:56Speaker 3: But you know, so you bring up a great point,
- 35:58Speaker 3: like I think the business. You're the one who doesn't
- 36:05Speaker 3: like the business is the framing. The thing you have
- 36:07Speaker 3: to hang on to. You can't the business is the business.
- 36:11Speaker 3: And Tom Bosley told me when I was on happy Days,
- 36:14Speaker 3: he said, look, if you can't handle this, you've got
- 36:16Speaker 3: to get out now. And I had two very disappointing
- 36:20Speaker 3: I was up for two features leads and he said,
- 36:26Speaker 3: and I had with terry eyed and said, dude, if
- 36:28Speaker 3: you can't handle this. You've got to get out right now.
- 36:31Speaker 3: This is not for you. And I remember that was
- 36:33Speaker 3: I thought at the time was such an asshole comment.
- 36:36Speaker 3: It happened to be one of the most accurate statements
- 36:39Speaker 3: ever ever given to me. That it just keeps repeating
- 36:43Speaker 3: itself over. No, but I'm giving you cannot give those
- 36:48Speaker 3: people that permission to I still get to come home.
- 36:52Speaker 3: The know that hurts me the most is when I
- 36:54Speaker 3: give it myself, when I look in the mirror and
- 36:57Speaker 3: I go, no, that's the one that kills That's the
- 37:00Speaker 3: one that hurts you know, believe.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Well, Ted, I want to start with I want to
- 37:05Speaker 1: go back to happy Days because that's where it all
- 37:08Speaker 1: began for you. You came onto the show. Do I
- 37:13Speaker 1: understand it?
- 37:14Speaker 3: Right?
- 37:14Speaker 1: When Ron Howard was leaving.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Yeah, So during the Actors Strike at the time, his
- 37:21Speaker 3: contract ran up and Ron wanted to direct and ABC
- 37:25Speaker 3: wouldn't let him direct. So head of NBC at the time,
- 37:29Speaker 3: I think it was Grant Tinker, said no, I'll let
- 37:31Speaker 3: you direct, and he went over there and did a
- 37:33Speaker 3: TV movie with Anton Williams and Betty Davis I think,
- 37:40Speaker 3: and that was it. Ron Squer took off as a director,
- 37:44Speaker 3: as it should have, and he came back. But we
- 37:46Speaker 3: had a softball team that toured around the country and
- 37:50Speaker 3: throughout Germany, and they eventually went around the world, but
- 37:53Speaker 3: I was working, but they they played softball at all
- 37:57Speaker 3: these troops from the troops throughout Europe and the United States.
- 38:02Speaker 3: And so that's when I got to meet Ron. And
- 38:06Speaker 3: that was the only time I really got to hang
- 38:08Speaker 3: out with Ron. But yeah, that's why I got into
- 38:10Speaker 3: the show. And they were looking for a straight man
- 38:12Speaker 3: opposite Henry Winkler, opposite the Fonts, and Gary Marshall saw
- 38:18Speaker 3: something in me that he thought he could work with.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Well that's quite an honor because Gary Marshall was about
- 38:26Speaker 1: as big as it gets in TV at the time.
- 38:30Speaker 1: He was nice, he was more than that man, No
- 38:35Speaker 1: I know, of course, he went on to be an
- 38:36Speaker 1: incredible filmmaker. I'm saying at the time, and I highly
- 38:39Speaker 1: I've said this before, but get Gary Marshall's autobiography on tape.
- 38:44Speaker 1: It is incredible to hear him his voice tell his
- 38:49Speaker 1: story and there's so many funny anecdotes. I'm sure you've
- 38:53Speaker 1: heard it, Ted, but I really loved it and he
- 38:57Speaker 1: was you know I had some not only we did
- 38:59Speaker 1: chicken little together there he was my father in the
- 39:01Speaker 1: animated we would chick a little, but also he went.
- 39:03Speaker 1: He was a very big benefactor in Northwestern where I
- 39:05Speaker 1: went to school. Yes, and he would and he would come,
- 39:08Speaker 1: he would come speak, and so I really really loved
- 39:10Speaker 1: that man a lot. And I wonder if you could
- 39:12Speaker 1: talk about what it was like to work with him,
- 39:14Speaker 1: because he's he was such a legend in the industry.
- 39:20Speaker 3: It was a very interesting time because Pierry was transitioning
- 39:23Speaker 3: from he was just trying to make that change from
- 39:26Speaker 3: TV to film, and so he wasn't as day to
- 39:31Speaker 3: day involved in the show as he was previous to
- 39:35Speaker 3: my time there, apparently. But we had Laverna Shirley right
- 39:40Speaker 3: next to us, so we shared the stage with them,
- 39:43Speaker 3: and they had massive chaos and people would be throwing
- 39:46Speaker 3: scripts and counting lines and yeah, it was just a
- 39:50Speaker 3: thing familiar. It was craziness. It was a great introduction
- 39:54Speaker 3: for me. And my dressing room was outside the stage.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Everybody else was inside the stage, so I was out
- 40:01Speaker 3: kind of next I was. I was outside, so I
- 40:04Speaker 3: would see the chaos constantly and hear them. Uh. It
- 40:08Speaker 3: was it was crazy, and Gary used to Gary would
- 40:12Speaker 3: always pull me aside and say it's gonna be good.
- 40:16Speaker 3: It's gonna be good. And that meant a lot from
- 40:19Speaker 3: Gary because he wasn't effusive. Uh, but that meant a
- 40:24Speaker 3: lot because I wasn't really getting that anywhere else. And
- 40:29Speaker 3: I felt bad for Henry Winkler because he went from
- 40:31Speaker 3: working with one of the best stars in the world,
- 40:34Speaker 3: one of the greatest U sidekicks ever, Ron Howard, to
- 40:39Speaker 3: a guy who had never done anything and had no
- 40:42Speaker 3: idea of where the joke was and the timing was
- 40:45Speaker 3: any of them. And so I learned a lot from Henry.
- 40:48Speaker 3: It's very generous, and you know, through the week he
- 40:51Speaker 3: kind of put me through it a little bit, and
- 40:53Speaker 3: then on Fridays he would because it was secrets whim
- 40:56Speaker 3: we had, we had to put it out there. He
- 40:59Speaker 3: was just I learned so much being around that cast
- 41:03Speaker 3: and around Henry. But those were tough days because I
- 41:05Speaker 3: knew I wasn't up the bar, but I didn't know,
- 41:09Speaker 3: and I just I really didn't know what this world
- 41:15Speaker 3: was and I wanted to stick around long enough to
- 41:17Speaker 3: see what it was. Anyway, Gary's a guy who finds
- 41:20Speaker 3: types of people and then figures out how to how
- 41:23Speaker 3: to make it work and find their little magic. And
- 41:26Speaker 3: for me it was a godsend. Gary Marshall was, I
- 41:29Speaker 3: would say, the most important person in my career.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Wow, well he really he really invested in you because
- 41:37Speaker 1: you were you hadn't really worked, right. I know you're
- 41:40Speaker 1: working as a model, but had you done any acting before?
- 41:42Speaker 3: No? I had a no And I had a little
- 41:46Speaker 3: TV movie where I was hired as a model to
- 41:49Speaker 3: run in the first scene of the beach, you know,
- 41:51Speaker 3: and I'm running and jack Albertson comes up next to
- 41:53Speaker 3: me and I blow him away. And then I'm in
- 41:55Speaker 3: the last scene of the movie and jack Albertson's there
- 41:58Speaker 3: and I'm running with him, and all a sudden he
- 41:59Speaker 3: starts keeping up with me after he's been through his journey. Now,
- 42:03Speaker 3: that was my first thing, but I had, you know,
- 42:05Speaker 3: I was like, come on, old man or something. That
- 42:07Speaker 3: was my big lung. But that's so yeah. Happy Days
- 42:11Speaker 3: was my first gig, and you know, Gary, Gary took
- 42:16Speaker 3: a risk on me, and then he put me in
- 42:18Speaker 3: a pilot called Herndon and Me, which was directed by
- 42:23Speaker 3: Gary Marshall, written by Lowell Gans and Babbelo two monsters
- 42:28Speaker 3: at the time, and it was for ABC, and it
- 42:32Speaker 3: started myself and Michael Richards. Wow, And Michael Richards was
- 42:37Speaker 3: doing Kramer in that project at the time, and he
- 42:44Speaker 3: we had a scene where he flipped over a chair
- 42:47Speaker 3: and broke three ribs on a couch and that was
- 42:49Speaker 3: the but the kind of messed up the timing of
- 42:53Speaker 3: our of our pilots who had to take two and
- 42:54Speaker 3: a half week saw Oh my god. Anyway, So Gary,
- 42:58Speaker 3: Gary put a lot of faith of me.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's that says a lot.
- 43:03Speaker 4: I love the story about Henry also, though you know
- 43:06Speaker 4: what I mean, Like Henry was the same.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Way with me.
- 43:08Speaker 4: I had I had a really bad day on Clueless
- 43:12Speaker 4: and he was directing the episode. I was like an
- 43:16Speaker 4: hour and a half late. I still had booze on
- 43:19Speaker 4: my breath from the club that night. And he intercepted
- 43:23Speaker 4: me after I've rushed through hair and makeup and everything
- 43:26Speaker 4: and stopped me and was like, it's okay, you're not
- 43:29Speaker 4: We're not going to fucking have an issue about this.
- 43:33Speaker 4: You're gonna be fine. I need you to come in
- 43:35Speaker 4: here and do what you do, And in doing so,
- 43:40Speaker 4: he put me at a. I'm not saying what I
- 43:42Speaker 4: did was correct, but I had a really bad day,
- 43:44Speaker 4: you know what I mean. And from that moment on,
- 43:48Speaker 4: he was so giving with not only his time but
- 43:51Speaker 4: also with his knowledge of the comedic craft and what
- 43:56Speaker 4: I needed to do to make it better.
- 43:58Speaker 2: And I doubt I would never I would never show
- 44:00Speaker 2: to work like that ever again. I was like, I'll
- 44:01Speaker 2: never be this guy ever again. Flash forward. I did
- 44:04Speaker 2: it a couple of times again, But that's not the point.
- 44:07Speaker 2: The point is. The point is Henry. Henry Winkler was
- 44:12Speaker 2: so generous with his knowledge and his time.
- 44:15Speaker 4: We had him on the podcast and I was great,
- 44:17Speaker 4: and I was able to thank him for it and
- 44:20Speaker 4: all of the things that we all the things that
- 44:21Speaker 4: you and I are talking about, the fear of auditioning.
- 44:24Speaker 4: Whenever I would bring that up, he would be like,
- 44:26Speaker 4: all right now, Donald. You know, it was like he
- 44:28Speaker 4: was like my my, my TV dad or my TV uncle.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Who was there to reassure me? Dude, all of that
- 44:35Speaker 4: shit's in your head. You got to get rid of that.
- 44:37Speaker 4: You got to drop that stuff.
- 44:39Speaker 2: You are who you are, and that's and that's and
- 44:41Speaker 2: that's good enough pretty much.
- 44:43Speaker 3: You know what I mean, I always knew going home
- 44:47Speaker 3: I was who I was. Yeah, you know that's why
- 44:50Speaker 3: my home has always been a sacred place for me,
- 44:52Speaker 3: because I know I'm okay here. I know I've done
- 44:56Speaker 3: everything that I've done it to my highest level here,
- 45:01Speaker 3: and so I'm very proud of being a good dad.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I think that's why I was put on this world
- 45:05Speaker 3: and and for trying to be a good husband. But
- 45:09Speaker 3: I so so that really matters to me, like because
- 45:13Speaker 3: that's my safe place. That is the place where when
- 45:16Speaker 3: I get hurt, I come in and I heal. And
- 45:19Speaker 3: so this place I don't ever want it to be
- 45:23Speaker 3: injured or rocky, but out in the world I expect it.
- 45:26Speaker 3: I figure, you got to be tough and if you
- 45:29Speaker 3: want to play, if you want to play in that
- 45:32Speaker 3: in this arena, you're going to take some serious wounds.
- 45:35Speaker 3: And I guess that's how it goes.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Let's take a break, we'll be right back after these
- 45:41Speaker 1: fine words. With that, Let's just continue on and like
- 45:51Speaker 1: in some of the major things you're on. Then you
- 45:53Speaker 1: want to how many years did you do love boat?
- 45:56Speaker 3: I think I did three and a half seasons. Uh,
- 46:00Speaker 3: I so same thing. So when I after I auditioned
- 46:03Speaker 3: for Happy Days. I did it in a room with
- 46:06Speaker 3: some executives and I didn't know they were They were
- 46:08Speaker 3: in Gary's office. And for two weeks I was going
- 46:11Speaker 3: back and forth between this other show and where they
- 46:14Speaker 3: called me in one day work with the people, and
- 46:16Speaker 3: call in the next day and I'd work with the
- 46:18Speaker 3: direct casting directors. And finally Gary Marshall asked first, and
- 46:23Speaker 3: I got to be unhappy guess. So then I did
- 46:24Speaker 3: a couple of guest spots on the Love Boat. And
- 46:26Speaker 3: while I was there, they said, Hey, when Happy Days ended,
- 46:29Speaker 3: would you like to come in as a as a regularism? Sure, yeah,
- 46:34Speaker 3: why not? I loved that cast. It was so nice
- 46:38Speaker 3: and they treated you like a king. You got first
- 46:41Speaker 3: class trips for you and a guest everywhere. We traveled
- 46:45Speaker 3: all over the world. It was spectacular. I mean, that
- 46:47Speaker 3: was a great great I didn't know.
- 46:49Speaker 1: So were you shooting on a real boat, Well, you're.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Shooting on a stage.
- 46:56Speaker 6: And then.
- 46:58Speaker 3: So it would be theyasically two months out of the
- 47:01Speaker 3: year you would be on a ship. So for at
- 47:04Speaker 3: least six weeks it would be two three two hour shows.
- 47:08Speaker 3: It'd be about two weeks each, so it'd be about
- 47:11Speaker 3: six to seven weeks. You'd be out on a ship.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Wow.
- 47:14Speaker 1: And you'd stay on the boat.
- 47:16Speaker 3: Yes, and they I mean, you were treated like a king.
- 47:19Speaker 3: And then they would invite people to be on the ship.
- 47:22Speaker 3: So regular folks were just on the ship while we
- 47:25Speaker 3: were shooting and they got to hang out with you.
- 47:28Speaker 3: You know. I would be in the casino every night
- 47:30Speaker 3: and they would be in there, or we'd be dancing
- 47:33Speaker 3: or whatever it was, and just regular folks were there.
- 47:35Speaker 3: It was really fun. How they could go into certain
- 47:38Speaker 3: rooms at certain times, would be cable all over the boat.
- 47:41Speaker 3: I kind of felt sorry for me, but it was
- 47:43Speaker 3: they knew what they were getting into and they loved it.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Yeah, they were.
- 47:46Speaker 2: They were literally on the love boat.
- 47:48Speaker 1: They were on the love Yeah.
- 47:49Speaker 3: Yeah, but that was that was a It put me
- 47:53Speaker 3: in a weird, you know, weird category all of a sudden,
- 47:56Speaker 3: and it was hard to kind of get out of
- 47:59Speaker 3: that one. And then we smashed it open with married
- 48:02Speaker 3: with children.
- 48:04Speaker 4: Yes, that's so let's talk about Let's wait, let's go
- 48:07Speaker 4: back first, because Revenge of the Nerds needs to be
- 48:09Speaker 4: talked about.
- 48:09Speaker 3: Me.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I was focusing on TV first, Donald, and we're gonna.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Go back my bad, my bad, because okay, thank you
- 48:16Speaker 2: for bringing up though.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Well, Donald and I have a very special place in
- 48:20Speaker 1: our heart throven that.
- 48:21Speaker 4: Is, that's one of my favorite movies of all time,
- 48:23Speaker 4: even though that's not pc to say.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Now nowadays it's a very problematic film. But we're not
- 48:28Speaker 1: going to talk about that. We're only talking about the
- 48:29Speaker 1: good parts of the movie. That's right, that all around,
- 48:34Speaker 1: but Sweet Married with Children. That was really a new
- 48:40Speaker 1: take on the sitcom. Right It was Fox as Fox's sitcom,
- 48:44Speaker 1: and they were going to be outrageous, right yeah.
- 48:46Speaker 3: They wanted to go They wanted to do the exact
- 48:50Speaker 3: opposite of Family Ties the Cosby Show. They wanted to
- 48:54Speaker 3: do something that would rock the boat. And they did.
- 48:59Speaker 1: They did, They started did That was an enormous hit,
- 49:03Speaker 1: right yeah, yeah, and you came and you came.
- 49:06Speaker 4: On later too, though you you weren't in the beginning.
- 49:09Speaker 4: There was another person and then they killed him off
- 49:12Speaker 4: and what you on?
- 49:13Speaker 3: Right, Well, yeah, he wanted to go do Broadway. He
- 49:17Speaker 3: was a Broadway actor and wanted to go back to
- 49:19Speaker 3: his roots. And I think also it happens where initially
- 49:23Speaker 3: they pitched the show as something and then two of
- 49:26Speaker 3: the characters also out Bunny just tastes off and the
- 49:30Speaker 3: Bundy family, and I think he felt like, hey, I'm
- 49:33Speaker 3: right here, but so he wanted to go do other things.
- 49:38Speaker 3: And the greatest thing that ever happened to me was
- 49:40Speaker 3: that he decided to leave, and he did very well.
- 49:43Speaker 3: He's done, He's he's done well. But dam Garrison, and I,
- 49:50Speaker 3: you know, I'm so thankful to him to have a decision.
- 49:53Speaker 3: But I went into Married and my parents used to
- 49:56Speaker 3: come with me to Happy Days and we'd have these
- 49:59Speaker 3: big parties after every show with the Castle, you know, Taxi,
- 50:05Speaker 3: Laverne and Shirley loosing buddies. We would all go to
- 50:08Speaker 3: this place called Nikodill's outside of Paramount and everybody was
- 50:12Speaker 3: in there on a Friday night and it was so
- 50:13Speaker 3: much fun in those days. And my parents were invited.
- 50:17Speaker 3: Everybody was invited if you do them. So we went
- 50:19Speaker 3: in there. And then when I got onto the Married
- 50:23Speaker 3: with Children and my parents came to the first show,
- 50:24Speaker 3: they were like, what the hell is this? Yeah, and
- 50:30Speaker 3: it was so much fun. Again. That cast from day
- 50:33Speaker 3: one just said come in, bring whatever you've got and
- 50:37Speaker 3: we love it. And I I was so expecting the opposite,
- 50:41Speaker 3: and they couldn't have been better. I loved that job.
- 50:44Speaker 3: We had so much fun.
- 50:46Speaker 1: I bet you were laughing your asses off. No one
- 50:48Speaker 1: really does that, now, do they. There's no like R
- 50:52Speaker 1: rated sitcom which would be funny. I don't know why.
- 50:54Speaker 3: I know it's all animated. Yeah, it's all animated.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Family Guy is the version of Married with Children.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Right, I'm surprised no one does like whatever the twenty
- 51:05Speaker 1: twenty four Riskue version of a sitcom would be.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll tell you I found we did. There are
- 51:12Speaker 3: a lot of people who think they are by the way,
- 51:14Speaker 3: but you know they're not.
- 51:16Speaker 2: They're not.
- 51:17Speaker 1: No, I see, I see what you're saying about Family
- 51:18Speaker 1: Guys like kind of the version of it.
- 51:20Speaker 3: Yeah, well they Simpsons is really Married with Children, just
- 51:25Speaker 3: in a different run.
- 51:26Speaker 2: But they also ripped they also, sorry to cut you off,
- 51:29Speaker 2: they ripped you off.
- 51:30Speaker 4: Also with that other show, there was a show with
- 51:34Speaker 4: uh Kevin Connolly was the kid on it and Nicky
- 51:39Speaker 4: Cox was the daughter.
- 51:41Speaker 2: And it was pretty much the same shit. It was
- 51:43Speaker 2: the same show, but it wasn't.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Uh. I'm trying to remember Ronny Levitt if he had
- 51:50Speaker 3: something to do with it. I can't I do remember that.
- 51:52Speaker 3: I can't remember it.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Do you remember this?
- 51:53Speaker 4: It was the exact same shows, like they tried to
- 51:56Speaker 4: make the exact same show. Uh yeah they did anyway, Yeah,
- 52:01Speaker 4: well something something was married with children.
- 52:04Speaker 3: I'll tell you a funny story though. Sorry with married,
- 52:07Speaker 3: I never got a call time. Ever you would. You
- 52:10Speaker 3: would look at the script and you'd say, oh, on
- 52:12Speaker 3: the rewrite. And by the way, in those days, you
- 52:15Speaker 3: had to wait for the script guy to drop off
- 52:17Speaker 3: your script. So you go on a Monday, if you
- 52:20Speaker 3: write it Tuesday, or you wrote it each day, you
- 52:22Speaker 3: get a new script. But I would get mine like
- 52:24Speaker 3: two morning. I'd wake up at like eleven every day.
- 52:29Speaker 3: You know, I checked in the front door because I
- 52:31Speaker 3: can't read it like everybody else does. So I would
- 52:35Speaker 3: go through it. I think, oh my god, I'll be
- 52:36Speaker 3: up all night looking. So then we would we would
- 52:39Speaker 3: go there. But you would say, okay, I'm in the
- 52:41Speaker 3: third scene, so that means we start at ten. That
- 52:44Speaker 3: means I come in at eleven. Ten. You just make
- 52:47Speaker 3: it up. Nobody said you come in at this time ever,
- 52:51Speaker 3: not one time. So I'm around cult that doesn't exist
- 52:54Speaker 3: in our business. It was just we ran it ourselves
- 52:58Speaker 3: in that regard, and then if you were late, they
- 53:01Speaker 3: would sit around the couch. They would go get food,
- 53:03Speaker 3: and everyone would sit around the couch like a family
- 53:06Speaker 3: and just talk poorly about you until you showed up,
- 53:10Speaker 3: and then they would go. I mean, it was so
- 53:13Speaker 3: much fun. It was such a great game. All right.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Now we have to talk about Revenge of the Nerds,
- 53:17Speaker 1: because this movie was like Donald and I were the
- 53:20Speaker 1: target demo for this movie.
- 53:21Speaker 2: Yes, and.
- 53:25Speaker 1: I remember identifying with the nerds.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I identified with the jocks.
- 53:31Speaker 1: You did, you did?
- 53:32Speaker 2: I did. I played sports and everything like that.
- 53:34Speaker 4: And you know, in my neighborhood, if you weren't if
- 53:38Speaker 4: you weren't into sports, you weren't into anything, you know
- 53:44Speaker 4: what I mean. So like the artist in my neighborhood,
- 53:46Speaker 4: like I learned how to play basketball, I learned how
- 53:48Speaker 4: to play football.
- 53:49Speaker 2: I learned how to play baseball. Also I could be cool,
- 53:52Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 53:53Speaker 3: And so that was me.
- 53:56Speaker 2: I identified with the I identified with the jocks. I
- 53:59Speaker 2: get it. You identified with the nerds.
- 54:02Speaker 1: I identified you with Lamar.
- 54:05Speaker 2: No, well, I did love Lamar too. That was the
- 54:08Speaker 2: wrapping part of the whole movie.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Oh my god. The end of the end of that
- 54:13Speaker 1: movie with the with the performance is just that's not
- 54:16Speaker 1: the end.
- 54:17Speaker 2: That's that's not the end.
- 54:19Speaker 1: No, well, I'm saying when it builds, when it builds
- 54:21Speaker 1: to the performance. But anyways, so, ted I I read
- 54:26Speaker 1: that when you got to set there was actually like
- 54:29Speaker 1: friction between the jocks and the nerds, like off like
- 54:33Speaker 1: on set, like for real, you got older?
- 54:40Speaker 3: Yeah, right, I didn't. I didn't know that, right. So
- 54:45Speaker 3: we show up and I think perhaps I wasn't astute
- 54:48Speaker 3: enough in technique to know that some guys maybe work
- 54:53Speaker 3: where if they're going to be opposite you and adversarially,
- 54:57Speaker 3: they stay that way in character kind of right throughout
- 55:01Speaker 3: the process of the show, where sometimes people won't talk
- 55:04Speaker 3: to you for an entire movie off camera. But but
- 55:09Speaker 3: I thought it was presumptuous to say the least that
- 55:12Speaker 3: that's how if that's what they were doing. Uh. But
- 55:16Speaker 3: so we went down there and in the beginning, they
- 55:20Speaker 3: wouldn't give me the time of day, and they would
- 55:22Speaker 3: get together.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Nerd nerds, the nerds as a group. The nerds didn't
- 55:26Speaker 1: targe you, and they would exclude I was, They would
- 55:33Speaker 1: have nerd they would have nerd parties, yeah, well they.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Didn't this early age. They were massive parties. So yeah,
- 55:43Speaker 3: the the jocks weren't really invited now Ogre, I don't know.
- 55:46Speaker 3: I haven't talked to Don about that. But it wasn't
- 55:50Speaker 3: until we started doing all night episodes where we had
- 55:52Speaker 3: to work all night long for about a little over
- 55:55Speaker 3: two weeks, where we were stuck with each other, we
- 55:57Speaker 3: had to hang out all night, the nationally started to
- 56:00Speaker 3: break break the ice and start to find that we
- 56:03Speaker 3: had a lot in common. That turned that turned to
- 56:06Speaker 3: be mashal And. I mean the parties would start. The
- 56:10Speaker 3: parties then would start at six in the morning, so
- 56:13Speaker 3: you would work all night and they would come back
- 56:15Speaker 3: and then start the party.
- 56:17Speaker 1: And then that woman who played six a Night, that
- 56:20Speaker 1: woman that played Betty. I was right at the age
- 56:23Speaker 1: where things in my body were turning on, like things
- 56:26Speaker 1: were shifting. Yes, And I was like Betty, like I
- 56:31Speaker 1: didn't know what she just she shifted my whole mind.
- 56:35Speaker 1: I was like, I couldn't, I couldn't. I was so
- 56:37Speaker 1: in love with her.
- 56:38Speaker 3: Yeah, she today, she's still amazing, Julian Montgomery, but she
- 56:43Speaker 3: she is so recently, I just went down to Mexico
- 56:47Speaker 3: and I got hired to go down. There's a group
- 56:51Speaker 3: of people apparently who loved the nineteen eighties shows, and
- 56:54Speaker 3: so they all music that shows. So I went down
- 56:57Speaker 3: to a resort in Mexico and it's inclusive all and
- 57:00Speaker 3: you spend a couple of days with all these people
- 57:03Speaker 3: and take photographs with him, and it was so much fun.
- 57:07Speaker 3: They all showed up and dressed half of them stand
- 57:10Speaker 3: Gable and Benny Child's anyway, so the Nerds apparently have
- 57:18Speaker 3: been doing this as a group where they tour around,
- 57:20Speaker 3: they go around and sign autographs.
- 57:22Speaker 1: They've been doing They're still excluding you this many years later.
- 57:25Speaker 3: They are. By the way, the love Blode excludes me,
- 57:32Speaker 3: Happyess excludes me. Really, Nerds excludes me, and I expect
- 57:38Speaker 3: shrinking will too soon.
- 57:39Speaker 2: No, no, no, we got talking about shrinking, dude. I
- 57:43Speaker 2: want to get to that.
- 57:46Speaker 3: I don't know because I don't think social media, so
- 57:48Speaker 3: I don't stay in contact with people.
- 57:51Speaker 1: I just don't want to say. If any of the
- 57:53Speaker 1: Nerds from Revenge of the Nerds are listening to this podcast,
- 57:57Speaker 1: I want you to. It's been too many years and
- 58:00Speaker 1: you need to starting. Poor Ogre probably spends his weekends
- 58:06Speaker 1: in the fetal position because he's not being.
- 58:09Speaker 2: Oker. Became a nerd.
- 58:10Speaker 5: What are you talking about?
- 58:11Speaker 1: It became a nerd? What about Booger? Does Booger go?
- 58:16Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 58:19Speaker 2: Does Lamar?
- 58:22Speaker 1: Does a Mark throw a javelin?
- 58:25Speaker 2: Larry?
- 58:27Speaker 3: When all the party was going he was a badass
- 58:31Speaker 3: as Yeah.
- 58:34Speaker 1: He was, sincerely he didn't have a limprest and throwing style.
- 58:44Speaker 5: That was.
- 58:45Speaker 1: That was the funniest thing when they said they designed
- 58:47Speaker 1: the javelin for Lamar's limpers.
- 58:52Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you the secret. When we started the Nerds,
- 58:55Speaker 3: I actually played two parts. I played a twin brother
- 58:59Speaker 3: who was who was a nerd. So I had Stan
- 59:02Speaker 3: Gable had a twin brother who was a nerd. And
- 59:05Speaker 3: they cut it out after day three. They said, the
- 59:08Speaker 3: movie's not going to go. It's not what the movie is.
- 59:12Speaker 3: So we're gonna we're gonna get rid of because that
- 59:14Speaker 3: would be its own movie, really movie. Yeah, but no
- 59:18Speaker 3: one ever talks about that. I think all those guys
- 59:20Speaker 3: forgot about it anyway. So we we're down in Mexico.
- 59:23Speaker 3: I ran into all those guys. It was so much
- 59:25Speaker 3: fun and we were They never heard my side of
- 59:30Speaker 3: anything because they hang out together all timate they never
- 59:33Speaker 3: heard me talk about how unfriendly they were, and and uh,
- 59:37Speaker 3: you know there was real adversaries that they're like, what
- 59:40Speaker 3: what are you talking about? It? It was, it was interesting.
- 59:42Speaker 3: It was a lot of fun to see them.
- 59:44Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't expect to get I don't like
- 59:48Speaker 1: I don't like it. The nerds don't treat Ted McGinley right.
- 59:52Speaker 1: If you are one of the nerds, we'd like you
- 59:54Speaker 1: to call in and explain yourselves, especially if you're Lamar.
- 59:57Speaker 1: We want to talk about your limpristed throwing style.
- 59:59Speaker 3: All right, No one more, one more funny story on it.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: So I'm I get contacted through my agent. There's a
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: lady in uh, Connecticut whose husband has try lambs. He
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: and his entire three brothers, all his family has try
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: lambs tattooed on their forum. And for his fortieth birthday,
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: he wants me to fly back and have dinner with them.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: And they're gonna fly me first class, they're gonna pay me,
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: and I'm gonna go back there and sit with these
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: guys and I wouldn't surprise him at dinner.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: It was that you forget how much that movie meant
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: to some people in the day.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, Donald and I were the right age
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: where we would just like thought it was. I was
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: probably too young to be seeing it, but I did
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: see it, and I just thought it was the funniest
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: fucking thing I'd ever seen. And I guess because probably
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: because I did feel nerdy and and was was intimidated
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: by jocks and I don't know, I was like the
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: perfect target demo for it. And then and then there
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: was Betty.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: I love the jokes.
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: I thought the jokes were hilarious, and I thought, you know,
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: and I know a lot of them can't be. I know,
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: a lot of the stuff that's in that movie can't
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: actually be. You go to jail for a lot of that.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Well, we acknowledged it's problematic in some ways, but we
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: can still appreciate segments of.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: It that that changed my I remember my friends telling
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: me I needed to see it, and then finally seeing
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: it and thinking, this is the most cutting edge movie
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: I've ever seen in my life.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: I freaking like.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: Cutting dude, I laughed so well, come on, man, his
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: limp wristed throwing style to this day, That and the
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: and the tricycle race.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: And the song and the song and the song. I mean,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: the song was like the funniest fucking thing.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: I think. I think, I think that song is written
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: by Tom Newman, who's been nominated really numerous Academy Awards
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: for scoring major films.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, Thomas Newman's legend.
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: Yeah, but not only Mary one of those people connected
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: to that film. By the way, Ted Fields, our cinematographer,
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: They all went on to big things after.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: Yeah, let's take a break.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: We'll be right back after these fine words. No, all right,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: let's segue to Shrinking. I have to say I'm lucky
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: enough to have a front row seat to watching what's
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: happening to you at Shrinking and what's happening are tricking.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: It reminds me of what happened to Neil Flynn on Scrubs,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: but even in a bigger way, because as hilarious. You know,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Neil Flynn was in the pilot and he was supposed
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: to have Scrubs. He's supposed to have a small part
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: of the janitor, and he was so incredible that Bill
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: just kept giving him more and more and more to do.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: But he was always because he was always you know,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: because he was always so crazy. He was the janitor
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: and the character was so wacky it was sort of
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: capped at how much he could do. What's happening with
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: you on Shrinking is so thrilling as a fan of
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: yours to watch because you started with just having quips,
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: as you Bill would call it. Bill used to call
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: these guys his assassins on scrubs who could just walk
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: by sayah, one liner and and and make everybody die laughing.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: Rob Rob Mashio was the king of that. And then
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: I've watched over the seasons. Now your part. If you
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: look at a graph, it's just skyrocketing because you are
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: killing it on the show, and everybody loves you. Anytime
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: anyone knows I have anything to do with the show,
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: they go, oh my god, I love Derek. He's so funny.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: I need to tell you before before you say it,
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: before you say it, I'm trying to find out if
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: my wife is home because she wanted me to tell
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: you you made her cry. You made her cry in
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: U because uh, with your scene with Josh Hopkins, you
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: made she is uh. She is a forever fan. She
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: was a fan before, but she is a forever fan now.
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: And it's it's it's it's it's a it's an amazing story.
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: So well, I'll let you take it.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: But my wife loves you all right now now you speak.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: That is very sweet both of you. Thank you very much.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: I would be remiss if I don't start by saying, Zach,
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: you're an amazing director. Like the energy that he brings
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: to a set and Donald you must know is yes,
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: it's there's no one like it. I mean, it's so
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: much fun. And the one thing that I appreciate, because
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: I've been directed by many many actors, is that when
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: I come, I mean, when Zach comes to the set,
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: he's a director. He's looking for attention as a director.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: He's not trying to be anything else other than be
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: a director and be a really good one. And he's
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: always prepared. I just and you can trust his judgment,
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: will try it, you know. I love that. I love
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: being able to trust the director because you know, they
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: know funny but two, they're only in it to make
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: the whole better. And it's so it's really a compliment
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: to you.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: I tell him that all the time. I tell him
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: that all the time.
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: I'm like, yo, dude, you're you're a better director than
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: you are an actor, and but you're a really good actor.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: I always preface it. I always like, you're a really
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: good actor too.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: Man. That's like when people say to me, oh god,
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: you're well, you've got great hair. I had nothing to
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: do with the hair. I'm trying to do a scene here.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: But but but but it speaks to just the experience
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: because obviously Bill is a huge fan of yours, and
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: and he knows I think he We've spoken about how
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: he's like Ted is not a great auditioner, but he's
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: a brilliant performer. And so with this thing, I didn't
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: ask him an audition. I know how funny he is.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I just put him in the show because I love him.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: And and I know Christa had A had A had
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: a voice in it too. She wanted a husband she
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: was definitely attracted to. And you qualify and and and
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: and then but then it was it was like you
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: just you can see that he's increasing and increasing his
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: h his the use of the character.
- 1:06:20Speaker 9: Well, I found.
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: It was hard because when I first got there, literally
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: first days, just walked through the scene and with your
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: dog and and you know, say just walking the dog.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: I didn't want uh, and I was gonna do it
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: with with an attitude, and Bill said, no, no, no,
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: it's nice. He's nice. He's and he'll sometimes say things
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: that that you shouldn't say, but he says it nicely,
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: so you get away with it. And so then I
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: started to grab on to that and and but I
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: had had no background, and I had nothing on the guy,
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: and I could figure out what do I do.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: Oh, hello, this is Casey com.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Right, good to see you. She's stopping by it to
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: tell you we have we have here a genuine fan
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: of yours. She wants to say her piece. Go ahead, Casey, No.
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: I.
- 1:07:13Speaker 11: Know I always have a couple of pieces to say,
- 1:07:16Speaker 11: but I'll just leave it at this one.
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: But I watched the episode.
- 1:07:21Speaker 11: I don't know which episode was, but it was when
- 1:07:23Speaker 11: you know, you had just found out that she had
- 1:07:25Speaker 11: kissed the other guy, and you go to Jessica and
- 1:07:29Speaker 11: you're having like your heart to heart or therapy session
- 1:07:34Speaker 11: or whatever, and.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I just have to tell you made me cry.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: You're very sweet. I like to say that is just
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: honestly brilliant writing. And it's just like you stand hold
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: on on the rope and let him pull you. And
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Christy doesn't get enough credit because she wats this fine
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: type rope of so many different tough things to play.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: Just sitting next to her, I get more credit than
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: I should. But you're very sweet to say that. I'm
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: I never get I was just so honored that they
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: trusted me enough to take a chance with that.
- 1:08:09Speaker 11: Yeah, I know, it was great because I feel like
- 1:08:11Speaker 11: I'm at the age of my life where I kind
- 1:08:13Speaker 11: of identify with Christa's character in that sense.
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: Not to not to make some.
- 1:08:21Speaker 11: But you know, you know, the kids are getting older,
- 1:08:24Speaker 11: you don't you're at home all the time, you do
- 1:08:27Speaker 11: so much, but you don't really feel like you're important
- 1:08:29Speaker 11: enough and all those things.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: So I'm always, you know.
- 1:08:32Speaker 11: Champ trying to champion that character. But to see you
- 1:08:36Speaker 11: and your take on it in your side and it
- 1:08:40Speaker 11: was just so I just I got so emotional. I
- 1:08:43Speaker 11: texted Bill at eleven o'clock at night. I texted Zach so,
- 1:08:48Speaker 11: I thought, you did such a great job showing the
- 1:08:50Speaker 11: flip side of it, Like, yeah, it sucks for women,
- 1:08:53Speaker 11: but it also sucks for men too, who are trying
- 1:08:55Speaker 11: to be great husbands.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you know how at home it's he feels safe
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: at home. That's his safe space at home, because he
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: loves being a great dad and he loves being here.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: He tries to be a great husband.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: It was just all right, Casey, you don't have a
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: lot of time, so put your husband back on. No,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: don't let her, please, no, Casey, get the hell out
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: of here.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: I love you.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: I love you too. I like how you spell your name.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: So, uh, where where do you think is gonna happen
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: with Derek? I mean I was a little surprised, to
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: be honest that and I know this is the writing,
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: it's not it's not up to you. But I was
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: surprised that Bill resolved it so so quickly. I thought
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: that there might be you know, I don't know what
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: is your reaction to that.
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: I was it didn't It made me nervous that they
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: resolved it so quickly. However, you know, it's not there
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: show and there's a lot to go on. And I
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: thought what was really cool was how real an adult
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: they handle instead of me walking in there with a pistol,
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: you know, they made it a real situation. And I
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: liked how. I liked how when you have a family
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: and you have all these things, you have to keep going,
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: and I just thought it was real. I thought they didn't.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: I'm always amazed at how wonderful they see the world
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: and how well they're able to actually set an outline
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: for you and then sends you on your way.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: I just think it's there's a lot of deep there's
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: a lot of giggling from people that know them well
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: that you're kind of playing a version of Bill. And
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: he certainly writes stuff for you that he wishes he
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: could say to his wife, but he's afraid to. There's
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: a moment, there's a great moment in season one where
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: you where you're alike, where she's telling you that you're
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: not Umilia will hang around the house and You're like, no,
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: I'm retiring. I'm the one who's been out there doing stuff.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: You can do whatever the hell you want, but I'm
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: going to do whatever the hell I want in this house.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: I'm paraphrasing, of course, And all I can think of
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: as I was watching it was like, this is what
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Bill would love to say to Christian, but he's afraid you. Yeah, right,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: didn't he say something like that to you?
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: What did he say to you?
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: And on the Police Center panel, you on the panel.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: He said, that's exactly what I want to say, what
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: I would like to say, but I know I get killed,
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: so he lets me say. But he did tell me afterwards,
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: he said, that is it. And that's the first time
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: he said to me, that's me. That's what I want
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: to say. If I could get away with it, that's
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: what I would say. And I thought, Okay, there's more.
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: There's there's Bill inside of Derek, and uh, their relationship
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: is is very complicated Bill and Christa because he's the
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: he's the supreme being, he's the boss, but yet she's
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: really the boss. And uh, you know, when he walks
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: on a set and we're doing something, she says, how
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: about this? He says, no, that's not funny. Uh. And
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: if I said that, I would be beaten. Uh my
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: wife would be you know. But they've worked out how
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: to say it to each other.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: They have an incredible they have an incredible dynamic where
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: she's she's definitely a tough boss at home and but
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: he gets to be the tough boss to work.
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, in the second he walks through the door,
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: it's all gone, right.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, it's funny because I hang out.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: I wonder if she ever if she's ever like you.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: So you remember when you were getting all brolicky and
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: all loud with me on set. Today, we're gonna we're
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: gonna talk about that now.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: She she is such a pro. She all she really understands.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: It's part of their method. It's part of the method.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: And then if he's talking to everybody in those situations,
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: and it's so impressive. I just love how she is
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: so selfless sometimes to be able to take over. And
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: by the way, rarely does she do something where he's
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: saying no, I'll do it the other way. That's funny,
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: but she'll say, well, I don't know, what do you think?
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: And they have that ability to like he'll listen and
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: he'll say, no, do it that one. Then they'll say, no,
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: you know what, You're right, go back do.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: It the other way.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: It's just rare. They work in rare air.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: Yeah, well, it's such as such an incredible cast, and
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: you know, with all those big personalities and all those
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: big names. I just love as as a fan of
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: yours as a human and as a as an actor.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: I just love watching you rise through it all because
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: you know, he has so many actors to service from
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: Harrison Ford and Jason and Jessica and Michael Ury and
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: Krista and everyone and Lukeita and Luke and little by little,
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: I'm just watching, like your screen time and increase, and
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: now you've got scenes with Harrison, and now you've got
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: these moving, dramatic scenes. And I'm just so happy for you, Ted,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: because I just I think you're fantastic and and I
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: love watching it happen.
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: And we've been and we've been fans for a really
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: long time watching you also, and that is no bullship.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: Yeah, So to to.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: See this, to see this and you get in your
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: come up and as they say.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Yes, you've come Really, you've come a long way from
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: eating a pie and saying that's my pie, that's my pie.
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: Well, that's my pie's that's one of my favorite person
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: in the movie.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: That's how's the pie taste?
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: All right? Maybe this isday If you go to those conventions,
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: she still has those pies and she has put right
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: over the perfect spots and she signs them for you.
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: She travels with her pies.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: Oh my god, Donald, we got to go to one
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: of these conventions. Donald Donald and I are the target
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: demo for these conventions.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: It would be an honor.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Ted will let you go. Thank you so much. We
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: really appreciate you, and everyone check out Drinking It's. It's
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: on Apple TV plus. It's uh it's it's in its
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: second season, which is about to conclude, and there's going
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: to be a third season, and uh, it's an excellent show.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: And you are you will be directing in the third season.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: I am going to be directing I believe episodes three
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: and four. You're hearing it first episodes three and four
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: of season three.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: Nice, You're so funny because but he shows up with
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: this massive load of energy. He's NonStop after two weeks.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: He's just a waif of a human being. He just
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: has nothing. He's given literally every he has.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: It's hard listen, look at the look at the amount
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: of personalities on that show. And we shoot an episode
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: in six and a half days, and it's a big set,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: it's a big crew, it's a lot of personalities. So
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: by the yeah, by the time I'm done directing too
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: in a row, I definitely need some time in the
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: fetal position. All right, But thank you so much, thank you,
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: thank you for having me.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: What a great guest dude.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: I love him.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: He's the nicest man ever. He really is such a sweetheart.
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: He not only that, he's you know, he's such a
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: good actor too. We didn't even get into the West Wing,
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: we didn't get into Sports Night like.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: He's he's not over one hundred episodes of TV I read.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got a lot of experience in this industry.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: But when you're with him on set, he's just like,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: you know, there's no ego, he's just warm. He's like, Oh,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: I got a funny idea, what if I do in
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: one take this? And You're like, that's great, do that,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: And he's so he's so grateful to be there. He's
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: just he couldn't. He's one of the one of the
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: nicest actors I've ever worked with. Yeah, unlike the Diva.
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: Don you wish you could say that about me?
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: Bro I don't know why you take that as a
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: as a disc Man, I think you're a great actor.
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: I just think that your directing style.
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: Is there are very few people who can direct the
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: way you direct, man, And I've worked with a lot
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: of directors.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: And you are one of my favorites by far.
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: Thank you, thank you, And you get that and you
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: get that act and you get this and you get
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: this acknowledgement from other actors too. Like Ted says this stuff,
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: Harrison Ford has said this stuff. And he's worked with
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: a lot of actors too, I mean our directors also.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: Harrison still hasn't worked with very good directors. I'm the
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: first great director oka.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: O.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: No, it means a lot to me, thank you. I
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: love directing. I feel like of all the skill sets
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: that I've developed over all the years I have been
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: doing this, and my first audition was like at thirteen.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: And I love photography and I love music, and I
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: love actors and I love set design, and so I
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: feel like all the things I love in the world
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: to come together in one job, and that's directing. So
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: it's great to hear that that that that people like
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: me doing it because it brings me so much joy.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: It's very hard and uh and challenging. But I do
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: feel like I'm in my I'm in my I'm in
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: the right spot when I'm doing it.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: That's why I say you should direct Marvel, you should that,
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: you should direct Star Wars.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: You should direct.
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: Things like that, because it would bring a different take,
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: a fresh take, but it would still but you're so
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: good because you could still stay in the realm of
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: what it is.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: Unfortunately, Kathy Kathleen Kennedy listens to the podcast, and so
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: I'll have a show.
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: Yes there, we'll be calling all right, everybody. We love you.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: That's our show.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: We appreciate you.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: Always have a beautiful week.
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: About show we made about a bunch of said he's
- 1:19:00Speaker 6: a story next all should know. So gadder round you here,
- 1:19:06Speaker 6: Our gadder round you here, Obscure Watcher, Wiz and
