Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Weekdays, 3 to 7 p.m. The Flash Drive with Carl
- 0:05Speaker 1: Wastey on KFM 94.5.
- 0:08Speaker 2: So let's get closer than the airline plane to the
- 0:10Speaker 2: DHL Stadium on this show between you and I, because
- 0:13Speaker 2: Cassidy has decided to take a sabbatical for the next
- 0:15Speaker 2: couple of days. So we get to chill together and chat.
- 0:18Speaker 2: And we get to win some stuff a little later.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Cashback of two and a half thousand rand, a massive
- 0:23Speaker 2: five thousand rand voucher, eleven thousand rand with concept, flash
- 0:27Speaker 2: word and psychology all stacked into one show. Welcome to
- 0:30Speaker 2: the flash drive on KFM 94.5. I know it's Monday,
- 0:35Speaker 2: but let's manifest weekend and drive safe, by the way.
- 0:39Speaker 2: It is Lady Gaga, poker face. Hello, my name is
- 0:41Speaker 2: Carl Wastey. Nice to meet you. Welcome to your show,
- 0:44Speaker 2: The Flash Drive and KFM 94.5. I hope you're having
- 0:48Speaker 2: a wonderful, incredible and beautiful day today. If you are, lovely.
- 0:52Speaker 2: If you aren't just yet, well, that's why I'm here
- 0:55Speaker 2: to make sure you're thoroughly entertained till seven o'clock. It
- 0:57Speaker 2: is an honor to be in your company, always is.
- 1:00Speaker 2: And an honor to give you a two and a
- 1:01Speaker 2: half thousand rand Clicks Club card cashback. That is if
- 1:03Speaker 2: you want to win. This week, it's a little different
- 1:06Speaker 2: because spring is on the way.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Is it?
- 1:11Speaker 2: But yes, okay, while spring is on the way. Okay,
- 1:15Speaker 2: I need to be honest with you, right? Are you
- 1:16Speaker 2: one of those individuals who thinks that tomorrow is spring day?
- 1:19Speaker 2: And if you are, I'm not going to pop your balloon,
- 1:22Speaker 2: not at all. I'm more of an equinox guy myself,
- 1:26Speaker 2: but I also believe to each their own. So if
- 1:28Speaker 2: you believe that tomorrow is spring day, along with every
- 1:31Speaker 2: other commercial entity on the planet, then I mean, go
- 1:33Speaker 2: for it. You can enjoy, get the flowers out, spring clean,
- 1:36Speaker 2: love it. But if you believe that there's an equinox
- 1:39Speaker 2: and that marks the first day of spring, then, you know,
- 1:42Speaker 2: love to you as well. But I think it's been
- 1:44Speaker 2: a conversation that we've had, the producers and I, today.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And we were talking about when we believe spring day is.
- 1:50Speaker 2: And we've confirmed that I think all of us in
- 1:53Speaker 2: the room believe that it was an equinox type of day.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So we're talking 22nd of September. However, because people are
- 1:59Speaker 2: just ready to release winter, they want to go one September.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It's got to be spring. And I love you for that.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I do believe that you have that type of thing.
- 2:08Speaker 2: My argument to the producers was that if this is
- 2:11Speaker 2: indeed the case... Then 1 December is Christmas Day. Anyway,
- 2:16Speaker 2: that's just some of the arguments that have been circling
- 2:18Speaker 2: around the room. But as I said, to each their own,
- 2:21Speaker 2: including clicks. So if spring is indeed on the way,
- 2:24Speaker 2: what's one thing you'd love to refresh this season? Is
- 2:28Speaker 2: it your home, your routine, something different? If your story
- 2:33Speaker 2: is interesting enough... I want to talk to you about
- 2:35Speaker 2: it and give you a two and a half thousand
- 2:37Speaker 2: clicks club card cash back. Please remember T's and C's apply.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I need the keyword clicks, your story, and that's to 082-945-0940.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Don't forget to make it good. Clicks feel good, pay less.
- 2:49Speaker 2: And T's and C's, as mentioned, do apply. Cassidy is
- 2:53Speaker 2: away today, so can I give you some updates, including
- 2:55Speaker 2: N1 incoming, a truck broken down in the left lane
- 2:58Speaker 2: after Durban Road. Please make a note of that. Nelson
- 3:00Speaker 2: Mandela Boulevard outbound traffic is slowing down at Browning as
- 3:03Speaker 2: it always is at this time, 10 past 3. M3
- 3:05Speaker 2: is congested at Clipper Road and then roadworks on the N1.
- 3:09Speaker 2: This is outgoing. That's in the right lane at the
- 3:12Speaker 2: Toll Plaza. So just make a note of that if
- 3:14Speaker 2: you're traveling that way. If you have anything else, drop
- 3:16Speaker 2: me a message. You know my number. If you don't, 082-945-0940.
- 3:21Speaker 2: It was this man's birthday on Saturday. Black or white,
- 3:26Speaker 2: Michael Jackson on the flash drive. I sing this song
- 3:33Speaker 2: to my friend named Kotha. And whenever I meet someone
- 3:35Speaker 2: named Kotha, it's just a perfect song to claim. If
- 3:38Speaker 2: your name is Kotha, hello, welcome to the flash drive.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Come Kotha, please do. 20 past three it is. I
- 3:43Speaker 2: told you you can win with clicks. All you have
- 3:45Speaker 2: to do is just share what you plan to refresh
- 3:47Speaker 2: for the upcoming spring season. And it could be pretty
- 3:51Speaker 2: much anything. And make your story lecker. I want to
- 3:54Speaker 2: share it. Get that winning feeling with clicks.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Feel good, pay less.
- 3:59Speaker 4: On KFM 94.5.
- 4:01Speaker 2: So when it comes to refreshment, I'm talking about it
- 4:03Speaker 2: could be anything that you just believe needs a bit
- 4:07Speaker 2: of an update. Anything. Is this Gresham? Hi, Carly.
- 4:12Speaker 5: Yes, it is.
- 4:13Speaker 6: Gresham.
- 4:14Speaker 2: How are you feeling today?
- 4:16Speaker 3: I'm feeling lucky today.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Oh, stop it. You're feeling lucky today? I feel like
- 4:20Speaker 2: you feel lucky every day. I have a good feeling
- 4:22Speaker 2: about that.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Right?
- 4:25Speaker 3: Let's see if it comes true today.
- 4:26Speaker 2: No, it might. But first and foremost, people are refreshing
- 4:30Speaker 2: all sorts of things, especially ahead of a brand new season.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I want to know, what do you want to update
- 4:34Speaker 2: and refresh in your life?
- 4:37Speaker 3: Okay, I'm going a little bit different from tradition. I'd
- 4:40Speaker 3: like to refresh... My social media photos because I've had
- 4:45Speaker 3: the same profile pictures for years. And I think this
- 4:49Speaker 3: spring it's the perfect time for change. Get that updated look.
- 4:53Speaker 3: So that's what I'm hoping to change.
- 4:55Speaker 2: You know what I realized this morning, Gresham, because it's strange.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Cassidy and I were having a conversation this morning. And
- 5:01Speaker 2: she doesn't believe that I was a little overweight in
- 5:05Speaker 2: the past. So all I had to do is I
- 5:07Speaker 2: went all the way back in my Facebook pictures and
- 5:11Speaker 2: you go to the photos of you section and you
- 5:13Speaker 2: find some equipment there. You find some stuff there, my friend.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I found all those photos and I realized.
- 5:19Speaker 3: You have to go way back.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Way back. And I realized why people lock their Facebook
- 5:23Speaker 2: profiles in case you are discovered in those sections there.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And I get you. You know, I think we just
- 5:29Speaker 2: leave our profile pictures there to rot. And we're just like,
- 5:32Speaker 2: that's it. It's up there, done and dusted. But why
- 5:35Speaker 2: not refresh that for a new season? That's actually a
- 5:37Speaker 2: great idea for most. I always thought that there was
- 5:40Speaker 2: a gap in the market. Like your occupation could be, hi,
- 5:44Speaker 2: I'm a profile picture updater. I'm a photographer. And then
- 5:48Speaker 2: you can just do that for random people. That'd be cool.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I love your idea. Good luck with the refresh. What
- 5:52Speaker 2: are we thinking of adding for your profile pictures? It's
- 5:55Speaker 2: sort of like, do you want to do one of
- 5:56Speaker 2: those dramatic shots? Do you think just maybe a head
- 5:59Speaker 2: and shoulders LinkedIn vibe? What are you going to go for?
- 6:02Speaker 3: Carl, I'm actually hoping to get something at the beachfront
- 6:05Speaker 3: to capture that beautiful blue background. So I'm just something exotic.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Something exotic? Whoa, whoa, whoa. That's a family show, Gresham.
- 6:16Speaker 1: What?
- 6:17Speaker 3: Exotic in terms of spring.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Oh, okay.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Exotic spring. I got you. Thank you very much. I
- 6:23Speaker 2: love your idea. That starts the week off beautifully. Two
- 6:26Speaker 2: and a half thousand cash back. All yours as well then, Gresham.
- 6:29Speaker 3: I'm going shopping at Clix. Thank you so much, Carl,
- 6:32Speaker 3: and to Clix as well.
- 6:33Speaker 2: No problem. You enjoy updating that profile picture. That's the update.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Looking for yours tomorrow for another chance to win a
- 6:39Speaker 2: cashback from our good friends at Clix. If you want
- 6:42Speaker 2: to pop in there till the 8th of September, they
- 6:44Speaker 2: just told me that they are doing two-ply toilet paper,
- 6:46Speaker 2: 18 rolls, two for only 99.99 per pack and one
- 6:50Speaker 2: for 120. Clix made for baby dry protect disposable nappies,
- 6:53Speaker 2: the jumbo pack, two for 165 per pack and one

- 7:03Speaker 2: of those for 204.99 per pack or you can grab
- 7:06Speaker 2: one for 249.99 new lower prices have officially dropped look
- 7:10Speaker 2: for the yellow arrows and save and swipe your clicks
- 7:13Speaker 2: club card and get an extra 10 off t's and
- 7:16Speaker 2: c's apply clicks feel good pay less Where is the love?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Black Eyed Peas. Happy Monday to you. It's your flat drive,
- 7:25Speaker 2: KFM 94.5. Still ahead of you, a chance to win.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I'll get to that in a second. First, I want
- 7:30Speaker 2: to get you off those roads as soon as possible.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I know you need to travel, but it always helps
- 7:34Speaker 2: when you know exactly what's ahead of you. In the
- 7:36Speaker 2: absence of Cassidy, I got your back. In Blackheath, at
- 7:39Speaker 2: the R102 in Butscope, there is an accident there. Delays
- 7:43Speaker 2: are expected. And then an unconfirmed report of an accident
- 7:47Speaker 2: on the M5. This is south. So if you just
- 7:49Speaker 2: can confirm this for me, I'd really appreciate that. It's
- 7:51Speaker 2: just off the Racecourse Road. Traffic is a bit slow
- 7:54Speaker 2: in that area. In fact, it's at a standstill according
- 7:56Speaker 2: to those reports. N1 incoming, a broken down truck in
- 7:59Speaker 2: the left lane. That's just off the Durban Road. Make
- 8:02Speaker 2: a note. And then highways are looking slow on Nalsim
- 8:05Speaker 2: de la Boulevard at Browning. M3 south at UCT and Clipper.
- 8:10Speaker 2: And N1 outbound, that is at Monta Vista. It slows down.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Roadworks continue on the N1 outgoing in the right lane.
- 8:15Speaker 2: That is off to the Toll Plaza. Anything else? Drop
- 8:17Speaker 2: me a message, please. I'd love for your assistance in
- 8:20Speaker 2: this particular regard, plus a chance to win. As mentioned,
- 8:24Speaker 2: 5,000 on Woolies voucher could be yours. This weekend, I
- 8:26Speaker 2: gave you a challenge. Three-day game deals from Woolies. Go
- 8:30Speaker 2: grab yours. Take it home. Take a pic. Sell it
- 8:32Speaker 2: to socials, X, Facebook, Instagram. Tag us, KFMZA and Woolworths
- 8:37Speaker 2: underscore SA for a chance to win with a hashtag MyWooliesWeekend.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I'm going to be calling you in the next couple
- 8:42Speaker 2: T's and C's to apply. On your flash drive in
- 8:47Speaker 2: KFM 94.5, thank you for having a lovely My Woolies weekend.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You've gone to Woolies, you've got yourself some three-day game
- 8:54Speaker 2: day deals, and that's all I care about, is the
- 8:57Speaker 2: fact that you had a fantastic weekend. Hopefully I can
- 8:59Speaker 2: make you a little better on a Monday. Let me
- 9:03Speaker 2: give you what you want.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Show us how Woolies upgraded your weekend, and we'll show
- 9:07Speaker 4: you a 5,000 Rand Woolies voucher. My Woolies weekend, only
- 9:13Speaker 4: on KFM 94.5.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Lungani!
- 9:15Speaker 4: Yes, sir.
- 9:16Speaker 2: What's up? How are you feeling, my brother?
- 9:18Speaker 3: I'm feeling happy, man.
- 9:20Speaker 1: How's it?
- 9:21Speaker 2: Lekker. Lekker. Lungani, I checked out your social media. Very neat, eh?
- 9:26Speaker 2: I feel like you positioned everything very straight in your
- 9:30Speaker 2: picture there. Is that the type of person you are?
- 9:32Speaker 2: You're very focused like that.
- 9:34Speaker 6: Yes, I had to.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I see you got some very bougie bangers. Wagyu beef bangers.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Excuse me. Who was coming around that you tried to
- 9:44Speaker 2: impress this weekend?
- 9:47Speaker 3: I had a buggy tie.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Oh, a visitor. Okay, don't worry. I won't ask. It
- 9:51Speaker 2: sounds like a very important visitor. Thanks for sharing, man.
- 9:55Speaker 2: And did you enjoy the games that you were watching
- 9:57Speaker 2: over the weekend? Whether it be football, was it football
- 9:59Speaker 2: or rugby?
- 10:01Speaker 6: It's rugby, obviously.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Ah, there we go. You know what I'm saying. That's it.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I love it. Well, thank you very much for sharing.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I'm happy to announce you've won a 5000 on Woolies voucher.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Well done, Lungani. Thank you.
- 10:13Speaker 1: You're welcome.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Thanks a lot for entering, man. We appreciate you and
- 10:18Speaker 2: your picture and you having a My Woody's Weekend. Nothing
- 10:21Speaker 2: brings people together quite like food and good food, like
- 10:24Speaker 2: Wagyu bangers from Lungani. Whether you're firing up the braai
- 10:27Speaker 2: or sharing snacks around the table or simply looking for
- 10:30Speaker 2: something delicious for the week, Woolworths has you covered. From
- 10:33Speaker 2: quality meat and braai favorites to easy nibbles, indulgent treats
- 10:37Speaker 2: and something good to sip on as well. There's plenty
- 10:39Speaker 2: to make any occasion feel a little more special. for
- 10:42Speaker 2: those special people coming over. So gather your people, bring
- 10:45Speaker 2: your appetite, and make it a My Woolies Weekend. Nico
- 10:49Speaker 2: and Vince, am I wrong? It's your flash drive, KFM 94.5.
- 10:52Speaker 2: My name is Carl Wastey. Welcome here till 7 o'clock.
- 10:57Speaker 2: With things like We Listen and We Don't Judge, in
- 10:59Speaker 2: case you missed it, Cassidy, in absence, still posted something
- 11:03Speaker 2: on the socials to whet our appetites for We Listen
- 11:05Speaker 2: and We Don't Judge.
- 11:05Speaker 5: I may not be on radio today, so, you know,
- 11:08Speaker 5: we do the whole segment We Listen and We Don't Judge.
- 11:11Speaker 6: Well, I'm going to judge for just one second.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Hiking in Crocs is crazy. Beatrice is alongside me, and
- 11:22Speaker 2: you said you disagree.
- 11:23Speaker 6: Yes, so... People can come for me. It's fine.
- 11:27Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 11:28Speaker 6: So my husband got a pair of Crocs slippers. Okay.
- 11:33Speaker 6: Now I've been wearing them as well.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Crocs slippers?
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:37Speaker 6: Like those slip-on slippers. It's like full-on slippers.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Like my gray ones that I wear sometimes.
- 11:42Speaker 6: No, no, no.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Like slipper slippers.
- 11:44Speaker 6: Like slipper slipper with the little wool inside and everything.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Oh, like a slipper slipper.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Okay.
- 11:48Speaker 6: Those things are so comfortable. I'll go hiking them.
- 11:53Speaker 2: You did once say on a session of We Listen
- 11:55Speaker 2: and We Don't Charge that you would never hike. Are
- 11:59Speaker 2: you saying that I can get you hiking if I
- 12:02Speaker 2: get you croc slippers? This is great. Thank you for
- 12:04Speaker 2: saying that.
- 12:05Speaker 6: Can we start small though?
- 12:06Speaker 2: Approved.
- 12:07Speaker 6: Can we start with small hikes?
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we can go to, I'm sure there's a little hill,
- 12:11Speaker 2: like a small hill we can go up and then
- 12:12Speaker 2: come down.
- 12:13Speaker 6: Yeah, let's like start with this incline and then we
- 12:15Speaker 6: go from there. We go to a little mole hill
- 12:18Speaker 6: and then hill and then.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Eden on the Bay. If you go all the way
- 12:20Speaker 2: to where the frame is, and then you go around,
- 12:23Speaker 2: there's a little incline that you can start in that loop,
- 12:26Speaker 2: the Eden on the Bayou.
- 12:26Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, no, that's fine, because we can stop somewhere.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yes, for refreshments, of course. I don't know why they
- 12:33Speaker 2: don't have like a, you know, everybody goes for like
- 12:36Speaker 2: a 5K and like a 10K. This year's Cape Town
- 12:39Speaker 2: Carnival had the best idea. They did a 1K. And
- 12:43Speaker 2: in Eden-on-the-Bay, we can do a 400-meter for you.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Walk.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yes, I would do that. They must make more accessible
- 12:50Speaker 2: athletic events for people who need to do entry level.
- 12:53Speaker 2: If this is my entry into We Listen and We
- 12:56Speaker 2: Don't Judge, so be it. But they must make smaller things, man,
- 12:59Speaker 2: for entry level. People are all up on a 5K, 10K, 20, 1K, 42.1.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I get it. You know what? Go for it. But
- 13:08Speaker 2: what about the accessibility? If you have someone just at
- 13:11Speaker 2: the beginning... Start with like a 50 meter.
- 13:15Speaker 6: Yes.
- 13:15Speaker 2: And then do like a liquor event. Saturday morning refreshments.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Get a couple of sponsors. And then you want to
- 13:21Speaker 2: join me for the 50 meter? Yeah, please, man. Get
- 13:23Speaker 2: everybody there. Three, two, one. 50 meter walk. Finish off,
- 13:28Speaker 2: and then you're connected to people, and you've started. Then
- 13:31Speaker 2: the next weekend, you do a 75, and you build
- 13:34Speaker 2: this event till you get someone to 5K. I feel
- 13:37Speaker 2: like that is a series that you would easily subscribe to.
- 13:40Speaker 6: I'll take that on.
- 13:41Speaker 2: And it's a gateway for people who want to work
- 13:44Speaker 2: on their wellness without the pressure. Start them small. Start
- 13:47Speaker 2: where you are. That's it. That's all I want. Are
- 13:50Speaker 2: you in for this? Can we start this thing?
- 13:51Speaker 6: I'm in for this.
- 13:53Speaker 2: It'll be such a cool event. People will be traveling from, like, Georgia.
- 13:56Speaker 6: For the 50 meter People will fly down from Joburg
- 13:58Speaker 6: To come for the 50 meter race Exactly.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Alright And yes I know that the 50 meter Is
- 14:04Speaker 2: going to be a 5 minute event But it's still
- 14:06Speaker 2: going to be significant In your journey Yes Because we
- 14:10Speaker 2: need to start small I love that Thank you very
- 14:13Speaker 2: much I thank you There are other comments On the
- 14:16Speaker 2: croc hiking Cassidy opinion Take a listen.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Your call We listen and we don't judge Yeah So,
- 14:26Speaker 5: to add on to Cassidy's Crocs thing, a friend of
- 14:31Speaker 5: mine posted a video of him in the gym running
- 14:33Speaker 5: on the treadmill in Crocs. No, man.
- 14:38Speaker 2: To be honest with you, if I may, Crocs have
- 14:41Speaker 2: a mode.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Okay?
- 14:45Speaker 2: The Crocs, they have a mode. You can switch on
- 14:49Speaker 2: the mode if you want to. So you got, like
- 14:51Speaker 2: for me, I have different names for the modes. If
- 14:54Speaker 2: you flip down that back thing over there, I'm in
- 14:56Speaker 2: chill mode.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Yes.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I can slop around. But if I put that thing on,
- 15:00Speaker 2: I'm in like sprint mode.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Then I can run. I can start taking on mountains.
- 15:05Speaker 2: So I get it. But I think Cassidy also has
- 15:09Speaker 2: always had a problem with bare feet. She has a
- 15:12Speaker 2: foot problem. She doesn't like feet exposed in public. It's
- 15:15Speaker 2: a little thing.
- 15:16Speaker 6: Yeah, and sometimes I think also the whole thing is
- 15:20Speaker 6: it's about comfort, man.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a comfort thing, exactly. I think Crocs offer
- 15:25Speaker 2: you a very cool air-conditioned version. In summer. Exactly. So
- 15:30Speaker 2: while you're sweating, there's khata in there.
- 15:34Speaker 6: Yes.
- 15:36Speaker 2: And those things allow for the wind to come in.
- 15:39Speaker 2: which is fine. Cool down your toes. So I hope
- 15:41Speaker 2: that she will come around and maybe we can do
- 15:44Speaker 2: an official. I know that the Crocs marketing managers do
- 15:48Speaker 2: listen to the show. So maybe on the back of this,
- 15:51Speaker 2: we can actually do a hike brought to you by them.
- 15:54Speaker 2: And we all do it in Crocs.
- 15:55Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 6: We start the 50 meter.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 6: Little race with.
- 16:00Speaker 2: It's not a... See, race is already intimidating. Don't do race.
- 16:03Speaker 6: The 50-meter event... That's it. We'll do in Crocs, and
- 16:07Speaker 6: Cassidy can join us for that in the Crocs, and
- 16:11Speaker 6: then see how her feet breathe, et cetera, et cetera,
- 16:14Speaker 6: how comfortable it is. Exactly.
- 16:16Speaker 2: I'm talking about accessibility.
- 16:18Speaker 6: 100%.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Wellness accessibility needs to be the new thing. Yep. Thank you.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Especially for people like you, who you are so against...
- 16:29Speaker 2: moving your body to certain areas like i do want
- 16:33Speaker 2: to clock your steps from the studio to the balcony
- 16:36Speaker 2: i think that you put in a good shift there
- 16:38Speaker 2: now that's like 50 steps you see but that's like
- 16:41Speaker 2: 50 meters for you remember 50 meters for me is
- 16:44Speaker 2: like 180 steps so don't forget that okay.
- 16:49Speaker 6: Now that's true as well.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Now there's another one that came through in our session
- 16:54Speaker 2: take a listen Check out, get to work in those Jordans.
- 16:57Speaker 5: I was about to go.
- 17:23Speaker 6: How do you get to work? You wear those three
- 17:25Speaker 6: and a half thousand rand tackies and you run or
- 17:27Speaker 6: you walk.
- 17:29Speaker 2: That's so funny. I know. You know, like there's a
- 17:33Speaker 2: lot of people who will like complain about that petrol price.
- 17:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 17:37Speaker 2: You know, and basically anything that's expensive. And then you
- 17:44Speaker 2: check things out. You're like, well, I mean, if you
- 17:48Speaker 2: had to just go to a little retailer, you know.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Because I know for a fact that those tackies on
- 17:54Speaker 2: your feet there, that's two tanks of petrol there, Holmes.
- 17:57Speaker 2: But to each their own. I said this earlier. When
- 18:00Speaker 2: people think that it's spring tomorrow versus the actual equinox,
- 18:04Speaker 2: to each their own. Let them do their thing. Let
- 18:07Speaker 2: them cook. That's fine. But thank you for bringing that
- 18:10Speaker 2: to our attention. Of course, we don't judge people who
- 18:13Speaker 2: do choose to do the three and a half tackies
- 18:15Speaker 2: and complain about the petrol price, which is actually increasing
- 18:18Speaker 2: this week.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:20Speaker 6: We're going to see a lot more people walking in
- 18:24Speaker 6: very expensive shoes.
- 18:25Speaker 2: You know what? Another idea. Accessibility. A walk to work.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Wear your tackies that you just bought instead of using
- 18:34Speaker 2: that tank of petrol. And we go to work together
- 18:36Speaker 2: and we walk from all places to our little spot.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I think that'll be a great idea. Let's do it. Hey,
- 18:45Speaker 2: let's go for it. I think it'll be quite nice.
- 18:47Speaker 2: But there we go. That's our lovely session. of, oh,
- 18:51Speaker 2: by the way, Chadley says it's sport mode. I think
- 18:53Speaker 2: it's sprint mode, Chadley, man. Sport mode's too slow for me,
- 18:56Speaker 2: my brother. When I put those Crocs thing at the back,
- 18:59Speaker 2: you sane. Yeah, I hoibrew. That's how I do it.
- 19:02Speaker 2: But thanks for listening to We Listen. And we don't judge. Nope. Leave,
- 19:10Speaker 2: get out, Jojo. If you needed that song today, it's yours.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Send it to somebody. I know you want to. It's Monday.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Welcome to the Flash Drive on KFM 94.5. I love
- 19:19Speaker 2: how Cassidy in her absence started a bit of a
- 19:22Speaker 2: conversation around hiking and Crocs. She thinks it's a bad idea,
- 19:26Speaker 2: you know, given what she shared on social media in
- 19:29Speaker 2: her absence on the show today. I was like, you know,
- 19:31Speaker 2: there's a sport mode or a sprint mode that you
- 19:34Speaker 2: can add to your Crocs and you could pretty much
- 19:35Speaker 2: do anything in that. I also said that accessibility in
- 19:38Speaker 2: the wellness industry should be something that we should consider.
- 19:42Speaker 2: We can't always have someone with a six pack on
- 19:44Speaker 2: the cover of and you could be like, no, no, no, no.
- 19:47Speaker 2: I feel like there should be more events offering a
- 19:49Speaker 2: 50 meter walk for people to start the next weekend
- 19:52Speaker 2: you go 75 next weekend 100 meters and you build
- 19:56Speaker 2: them toward 1k 2k 5k in the next couple of
- 19:59Speaker 2: months I think that's a really beautiful progressive way to
- 20:02Speaker 2: invite people into their wellness that's great so if I
- 20:07Speaker 2: can do that for you I think that'll be fine.
- 20:09Speaker 8: Really Carl, if you can get him to do 50
- 20:12Speaker 8: meters at Eden-on-the-Bay, I'll give him a free slice of
- 20:16Speaker 8: pizza at my pizza shop for his emotional damage.
- 20:24Speaker 2: I got you. I offered Pietrus a chance to do Eden-on-the-Bay.
- 20:27Speaker 2: There's a loop there. No, you just go with the loop.
- 20:30Speaker 2: It's not like a long track. And then you're getting
- 20:33Speaker 2: pizza from someone, which is fantastic. This is another response
- 20:36Speaker 2: that came through. I think it sounds like a good idea,
- 20:39Speaker 2: but while you're at it, I think.
- 20:40Speaker 6: Each person should get a bottle of foot powder as well,
- 20:45Speaker 6: because I don't know how sweaty and stinky that feet
- 20:47Speaker 6: would be after a hike in a pair of Crocs. Anyway,
- 20:51Speaker 6: not judging.
- 20:52Speaker 2: No, of course. No, of course. Don't worry, Vikas, I
- 20:54Speaker 2: got you. But I'd remember that there are holes in
- 20:56Speaker 2: there for the beautiful aircon. The aircon works in those things.
- 21:01Speaker 2: So don't worry about the sweat over there. But I
- 21:03Speaker 2: love the fact that I just came up to an
- 21:05Speaker 2: antithesis of Cassidy's idea there. We should just do it, man.
- 21:08Speaker 2: We should do a thing. In fact, Philip Justice says
- 21:11Speaker 2: we should call it the crocathlon, which sounds great. I
- 21:15Speaker 2: like it. So we're going to be working on that
- 21:19Speaker 2: slowly but surely and developing it over the next couple
- 21:21Speaker 2: of months. Please watch this space and watch your roads too.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Here's a quick update for you on what I've found.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Thanks to the EWN Traffic Department, Weinberg at Main and Wetten.
- 21:32Speaker 2: There's been an accident. Please be careful. Strandfontein, that is
- 21:35Speaker 2: at Strandfontein and 15th Avenue. Another accident. Their delays are expected.
- 21:40Speaker 2: And on the N1, outgoing in the right lane after
- 21:43Speaker 2: the Toll Plaza. Roadworks continue. It is hot boxing. Possibly
- 21:50Speaker 2: to unboxing an incredible 11,000 rand prize. Answer the question.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Thank you. You're asking me nonsense?
- 21:59Speaker 6: Tell me again.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Ashleen, welcome to the Flash Drive.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Thank you so much, Carl.
- 22:05Speaker 2: All right. You've heard the words. It's time for your guesses.
- 22:08Speaker 2: You've got your shot. Let's make it good.
- 22:11Speaker 6: Okay.
- 22:12Speaker 2: You may have heard some of the words. I can
- 22:14Speaker 2: tell you what all the incorrect answers were. This all
- 22:16Speaker 2: includes bull, chain, jaw, boy, medical, doctor, box, tiger's milk,
- 22:22Speaker 2: pet farm, veterinarian, nurse. All incorrect. Hopefully, yours are different.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Here are your single word clues. My first single word
- 22:31Speaker 2: to you is.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Hello, can I just interject here? Thanks for clicking on
- 22:37Speaker 2: the podcast and supporting the flash drive. You can't get
- 22:39Speaker 2: the concept words here. You're going to have to listen
- 22:42Speaker 2: to them live a little later. I still love you though. Okay,
- 22:45Speaker 2: good luck. Incorrect, but I love your energy and your spirit.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Congratulations for getting through. I love your mind. Unfortunately, not
- 22:57Speaker 2: correct today. So another two words goes by another day
- 23:02Speaker 2: and another day with a two night stay in the
- 23:05Speaker 2: sand cabin at the gorgeous Nima Lodge. Enjoy the beauty
- 23:09Speaker 2: of the wilderness on the garden route. You can choose
- 23:12Speaker 2: three distinctive cabins. This one is sand for you. Unwind
- 23:16Speaker 2: in a wood-fired hot tub surrounded by the peace that
- 23:18Speaker 2: you require, especially getting into the latter parts of the year.
- 23:22Speaker 2: You need this. A romantic getaway or maybe a place
- 23:25Speaker 2: to clear your head. You can win this. Go to nimalodge,
- 23:27Speaker 2: spelled N-I-M-A lodge, dot com if you want to get
- 23:31Speaker 2: yourself some more details and another two single word clues
- 23:35Speaker 2: coming your way tomorrow. All the best of luck. Just
- 23:38Speaker 2: a stray for a second to let you know that
- 23:40Speaker 2: all individuals who are traffic register number holders. The Department
- 23:45Speaker 2: of Transport has asked me to ask you to pay
- 23:47Speaker 2: close attention to this. TRN certificates are issued to natural
- 23:51Speaker 2: persons between 1 January 2000 and 30 June 2023 to
- 23:55Speaker 2: clear dormant records from the NATA system. So basically, if
- 24:01Speaker 2: you receive the TRN during this period, visit transport.gov.za and
- 24:06Speaker 2: use the TRN portal for more info and to check
- 24:09Speaker 2: whether your number appears on the dormant list. Affected holders
- 24:13Speaker 2: have 30 days from the date of publication of this
- 24:16Speaker 2: notice to verify their details and submit the required documents
- 24:20Speaker 2: at the listed provincial offices. If you want to get
- 24:22Speaker 2: some more inquiries answered, email trn.gov.za. So that's trn.gov.za. using
- 24:35Speaker 2: the trn number as the subject line this message is
- 24:39Speaker 2: issued by the national department of transport let's call someone
- 24:44Speaker 2: very quickly before i give you some traffic details i
- 24:48Speaker 2: found your number on the whatsapp line hopefully you answer.
- 24:52Speaker 7: Hello hello is this chanel this is chanel hi chanel
- 24:57Speaker 7: sorry to bother you my name is carl wastey i'm
- 24:59Speaker 7: calling from a a small radio station based in Cape
- 25:01Speaker 7: Town called KFM 94.5.
- 25:03Speaker 3: It's not so small, is it?
- 25:07Speaker 2: You guys are amazing.
- 25:09Speaker 4: Thanks for the call.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I didn't want to be that guy. I also just
- 25:14Speaker 2: need to share something with you.
- 25:15Speaker 1: You can.
- 25:15Speaker 3: You may.
- 25:16Speaker 6: You are allowed.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
- 25:26Speaker 1: That was for me.
- 25:27Speaker 2: That was for you. Thank you for being so kind.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I wanted to be kind back.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Oh, cute.
- 25:30Speaker 2: All right. Did you think that was cute? I'm blushing.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Thank you so much. Stop it, Chanel. Oh, wait, wait.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Hold on, Peter. I'll see you. Excuse me. Sorry. Oh, hi, Peter.
- 25:40Speaker 1: No, no.
- 25:40Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 25:40Speaker 6: It's, you know, I'm just the innocent. By Sitter, Sander.
- 25:44Speaker 2: We were just having a moment. Sorry, man.
- 25:46Speaker 6: I was wondering whether we were going to do that
- 25:49Speaker 6: Chanel thing.
- 25:50Speaker 2: We had to. It is important. Now that that's done,
- 25:53Speaker 2: we have some options for you because we've each picked
- 25:56Speaker 2: a track. And you need to decide which one plays
- 25:58Speaker 2: off the news. The great thing about this is that
- 26:01Speaker 2: we're going to sell our songs to you. Another great
- 26:04Speaker 2: thing is that in the absence of Cassidy, who won
- 26:06Speaker 2: on Friday, I had to pick a song for her.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Which is very exciting. Beatrice, do you want to start
- 26:12Speaker 2: the buffet off with you? Yes.
- 26:14Speaker 6: So my song goes back to 2001. You know, it
- 26:18Speaker 6: was that era where like Avril Lavigne, all these rock,
- 26:23Speaker 6: you know, I want to say women. What standard were
- 26:27Speaker 6: you in? 2001, I was two years out of matric.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Two years out of matric. I was in standard eight.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Now that you know how old we are, we say standard. Okay. Chanel,
- 26:37Speaker 2: when did you matriculate? 2014.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Okay.
- 26:40Speaker 6: So Uncle Pietris.
- 26:46Speaker 3: I can confirm that was a good music era.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Right. It was.
- 26:50Speaker 3: It's probably going to be good.
- 26:52Speaker 6: So Uncle Pietris over here. Yes, Opa. Opa Pietris. Opa
- 26:56Speaker 6: Pietris is taking you back to 2001 with Michelle Branch
- 27:02Speaker 6: and Everywhere.
- 27:03Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 27:07Speaker 1: It's your name And when I.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Close my eyes It's you Thank you, Oom That's That's
- 27:20Speaker 2: Oompierre This is Now Uncle Carl's song Is from a
- 27:23Speaker 2: local artist Named Shazza She has a song That calls
- 27:26Speaker 2: upon Friday Immediately Because we are done With 9 to
- 27:29Speaker 2: 5 It's called Friday I can't wait till Friday I
- 27:31Speaker 2: can't wait I can't wait I can't wait.
- 27:35Speaker 5: Till Friday.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Celebrating local music. That's Shazza Friday. And now... In the
- 27:43Speaker 2: absence of Cassidy, I wanted to pick a song that
- 27:46Speaker 2: was in the same vein as the song that you
- 27:47Speaker 2: picked on Friday. Do you know, Chanel, in case you
- 27:50Speaker 2: weren't listening, Cassidy's winning track on Friday was George Benson's
- 27:54Speaker 2: Give Me the Night. What a classic.
- 27:56Speaker 6: But she's been on a trend of this like all this.
- 27:59Speaker 2: I don't want to break her trend. I don't want
- 28:01Speaker 2: to break her stride. I don't. I'm not going to
- 28:03Speaker 2: pick that song. But I figured, how about Peebo and Kenny?
- 28:08Speaker 2: One of the greatest collabs we've ever had. Legendary song,
- 28:22Speaker 2: because you know what? I'm a good friend to Cassidy.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Yes.
- 28:24Speaker 2: And I pick her good songs. Chanel, you have the choice.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Michelle Branch, Shazza, or Peebo and Kenny, you choose.
- 28:32Speaker 3: I'm going to go with your option, Carl.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 28:34Speaker 7: Sorry.
- 28:35Speaker 2: No, no, no. Don't apologize.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that was the best out of the three.
- 28:39Speaker 2: And you love local music, don't you? You love locals, right?
- 28:43Speaker 2: I agree.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Yes, and I love the Friday healing on a Monday
- 28:45Speaker 3: because a Monday.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Is never the best day.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Thank you, Chanel.
- 28:54Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Have a liquor day. Shaz's new track, Friday, is on
- 28:57Speaker 2: the way. And I love the song that I picked
- 29:01Speaker 2: for Cassidy, man. I hope that gets chosen. I do
- 29:04Speaker 2: really love that song. It wasn't like a stitch-up or anything.
- 29:08Speaker 2: I actually really wanted to win. But over to you.
- 29:11Speaker 2: I want you to win on the roads. I've got
- 29:12Speaker 2: some updates. Stranfontein. Stranfontein and 15th Avenue. There's been an
- 29:16Speaker 2: accident there. Delays are expected. And a stationary vehicle in
- 29:19Speaker 2: the end-to-outbound that is at Lisbeck Parkway. It's in the
- 29:22Speaker 2: left lane in case you're heading that way. Any other updates,
- 29:25Speaker 2: do let me know. It's Olivia Rodrigo's Drop Dead on
- 29:30Speaker 2: your show, The Flash Drive and KFM 94.5. Have yourself
- 29:33Speaker 2: a wonderful evening. Thanks for your support today. Brandon and
- 29:36Speaker 2: Yuta are on the way to look after you till
- 29:38Speaker 2: 10 o'clock. Have a lecker.
- 29:40Speaker 1: One.
- 29:40Speaker 2: And in the words of the absent Cassidy, okay, love you, bye.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Weekdays, 3 to 7 p.m. The Flash Drive with Carl
- 29:48Speaker 1: Wastey on KFM 94.5.
