- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:16presented by Chinook Cedry this episode 582, I'll be your host,
- 0:22Kyle Korne. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:23Reyes. Nate.
- 0:25Welcome back. Welcome back KC Feels like it's
- 0:32been a minute. It's.
- 0:33Been a minute. It's been what, a week?
- 0:36No, it's a lot. Two weeks.
- 0:37It's been a week and 1/2 at least.
- 0:38Week and a half, Yeah. Was the last episode the World
- 0:44Series recap? Yeah, I think so.
- 0:47Has it really been? Have I really just
- 0:50embarrassingly. Long.
- 0:53November 2nd, Holy second. Yeah, been a week and a half.
- 0:56Welcome back. It's good to be back.
- 0:58Yeah, be back talking some ball. Appreciate it appreciate you
- 1:02having me. I feel like I I don't even feel
- 1:05like myself right now. Feel like a guest.
- 1:08Well, it's a pleasure Brand new edition.
- 1:10It's a. Pleasure and an honor to have
- 1:11you here on this show, on this program.
- 1:16Yeah, Christmas lights looking good, pal.
- 1:18Thanks, man. Thanks.
- 1:20Yeah. The old school big bulbs, I
- 1:24don't think you can even find those anymore.
- 1:27Those aren't. I mean, they're, they're very
- 1:29much new school. I got them within the last
- 1:32within the last decade. They're not.
- 1:33They're not vintage, but. I don't buy it.
- 1:37I'm just telling you, man, those.
- 1:38Those could be 30 years old and I would buy, I would believe it.
- 1:44So we'll sell it, maybe get some lights up, maybe that's.
- 1:46That's a good idea, Yeah. The new digs man.
- 1:50Finally, finally squared away. Look at that.
- 1:52Yeah, if you're not on YouTube, you're missing out.
- 1:54But you are, man. What a backdrop.
- 1:57Well. This thing's nasty.
- 1:59Within reason, you know, I I can only go so far as to compliment.
- 2:03Is pretty, yeah. Took a while.
- 2:07Took a while to get it up there. A lot of disagreements with my
- 2:11wife on where to put stuff. Oh, is she in there with you
- 2:15like you're a little interior designer?
- 2:17Kind of regret it, kind of regret inviting her at all.
- 2:21That's tough. Hopefully she doesn't listen.
- 2:24She won't, but I, as long as you don't clip this and, and put it
- 2:29on social, we're good. Yeah, man, she's, she's very.
- 2:33I, I go look at the wall, the the walls, hodgepodgey.
- 2:35The wall is like the walls, the wall.
- 2:37Wherever there's space for something, I'm going to put it
- 2:39there. You know, she's very symmetrical
- 2:43and she's like, now we got to if that goes on this side, then you
- 2:47got to balance it with this one. No, I I disagree.
- 2:50I like the the asymmetrical look that you're rocking right now.
- 2:54Thank you very much. That, that looks good.
- 2:55That that was actually the first thing I noticed.
- 2:57I said, you know, not it's not not cookie cutter on both sides.
- 3:02It's very, very well organized. I'm a fan.
- 3:05I'm a fan. Thank.
- 3:06You very much feels good. Settled in.
- 3:10Settled in. Looks good, looks good.
- 3:14Well, we have Speaking of settling in, we have settled in
- 3:17officially to offseason mode. Apologies for just now getting
- 3:22around to to you know, it was checking in with you folks.
- 3:27The plan I think was to go last week to do this episode sort of
- 3:31the season recap kind of putting a bow on 2025.
- 3:36But then we realized little hard to do that because you the
- 3:40whole, the whole purpose, the whole point of this episode was
- 3:44to look back, reference our pre season takes, do a little
- 3:47compare, contrast, laugh at how wrong we were, laugh at how
- 3:52wrong some of you were. By the way, don't I?
- 3:54I got the receipts. But then we realized, like I
- 3:57said, that, you know, the we realized, oh, a little hard to
- 4:00do that the awards haven't happened yet.
- 4:02So we had to wait that out and good thing we did because
- 4:05there's a little controversy here, as expected with the final
- 4:09night. It was good though, that we had
- 4:12some because the awards leading up to this point could not have
- 4:16been more boring than you know, no disrespect to the people that
- 4:20to to the guys that earned the awards well deserved.
- 4:24But I mean, come on, there's no mystery to these things anymore.
- 4:28But I say all that to say that we are here to put a bow, as I
- 4:33said on the 2025 season, look back, it's like I said, the
- 4:38takes we had to start the year compare with what ended up being
- 4:43reality, Do a little award talk at the end, compare our picks to
- 4:48who ended up winning the awards, Do a little bit of a deep dive
- 4:52into that and then maybe cover a couple little more items and
- 4:56we'll be out of here. But.
- 4:58Spoiler alert, I didn't do well. I I mean, neither of us really
- 5:03do. Well, nobody really does.
- 5:06Well, if we're you know who, are we really kidding?
- 5:10Who are we kidding? Nobody makes I would argue.
- 5:18What would you say the average percent of picks that out of
- 5:25like out of 100 people, what's the average percentage that
- 5:29people are getting wrong? Just, you know, general
- 5:33consensus picks, you know, standings awards, general
- 5:36consensus standings, award picks.
- 5:40I mean, how? Because everybody, I love this
- 5:42time of year when people look back and they're just like this
- 5:46age, you know, that's my favorite one.
- 5:48This aged well. This was like, like milk, like
- 5:52spoiled milk. OK, Jeff from accounting, like
- 5:57sick. Where were your picks?
- 6:01I would venture to say people are probably if if they laid out
- 6:04the picks that we laid out, they're probably I I'm saying
- 6:07no, 6060%. Does that seem fair?
- 6:1270% even, yeah. Of their picks, I mean, 60 might
- 6:16be generous. Is it higher than that 70?
- 6:205. 80 yeah, I would. I would push 90. 90.
- 6:25Yeah, that's yeah. You know, and look, I think we,
- 6:29I think we've gotten better. But like when for the length of
- 6:32this podcast and the length of the Hot Takes episode, we have
- 6:36fallen victim to trying to be too hot at times, you know?
- 6:42You more so than me, I think. Me, definitely.
- 6:45I get caught up in that. Yeah, I like getting caught up
- 6:48in it, but I do get caught up in it.
- 6:50You're quoted as as saying in some way, shape or form, every
- 6:54hot takes episode that you know, I this is the hot takes episode.
- 6:58I'm trying to keep it spicy or some variation of that.
- 7:00And sometimes you go a little too far, but.
- 7:03Most of the. Time I said I've got the
- 7:05receipts and we're going to start with that.
- 7:08So Nate, I'm going to have you be my my B ref guy.
- 7:12Should we should we need to call upon you for for such a task
- 7:16with some of these some of these pre season takes Matt from
- 7:22spitting seeds AKA our guy from Chinook shot him out.
- 7:27He said Dylan Cruz will be a 2020 guy.
- 7:30I can already tell you we don't need to be ref that did not did
- 7:34not end up being the case, but a pick that I think we were both
- 7:38we were both intrigued by a pick that.
- 7:41I think I remember being excited about it.
- 7:46To recap, he was a 10/10 guy. Hey, shout it out.
- 7:54Yeah. That's not bad, Matt.
- 7:58Shout him out. Dylan Cruz, a 10/10 guy, That's
- 8:03all he gets. That's all he.
- 8:04Gets 10 home, runs 17 swipes. He gets half the song for half
- 8:08the achievement. Yeah.
- 8:12So he like straight up 1010 like on the nose you're saying?
- 8:15No 10 home runs, 17 swipes. OK, fair enough.
- 8:18Yeah. So 1017 guy.
- 8:20Yeah. Dan says against all evidence
- 8:26for the modern game, and since it's been a while a batting
- 8:28streak, since it's been a while since a batting streak went
- 8:33higher than the low 30s, we get someone approaching 40 or more.
- 8:37I don't know if we get. I don't think we got anyone.
- 8:40Probably the 20 you don't even have.
- 8:41Anywhere close, you don't. Have to look it up.
- 8:43Probably the 20s if I remember. I don't even remember who it
- 8:45would have been, but I I think I only remember getting like.
- 8:48I don't know why I want to say Bregman got the streak going,
- 8:52that was pretty long, but. There were some lengthy on base
- 8:56streaks this year. I remember like put we were
- 8:58pushing. Yeah.
- 9:01Maybe even 40. Yeah, maybe.
- 9:04But on base, but hit, hit streak not not to be.
- 9:09Brandon says a lot of people tend to underestimate them, but
- 9:13the A's are winning the West this year.
- 9:17Sorry, Brandon, you we were we were high on the A's this year,
- 9:22but not to be. Jimmy says Anthony Rendon comes
- 9:29back from injury, has won at bat, records a hit while
- 9:32injuring himself again and is out for the rest of the season,
- 9:36finishing the year with 1000 average.
- 9:40I really like that. It's a fire take I it's.
- 9:44I mean, it sounds, it sounds crazy like you read it, but very
- 9:52much so within reason. Very much so.
- 9:55Did not play a game in 2025 if anyone was curious.
- 10:02That's facts. That's facts, Keith said.
- 10:05Red Sox win it all, question mark.
- 10:08Red Sox win it all, question mark.
- 10:11Astros win the West again because they do.
- 10:13Brewers win the Central because that's what they do.
- 10:16Braves win the East because that's what they do.
- 10:19Took it one step too far there, Keith.
- 10:24And then he added this, which I liked.
- 10:25He said in October everyone will say we should have known, and
- 10:28then next March we'll be picking three other teams.
- 10:31That sentiment plays, but it just wasn't relevant to any of
- 10:36those three teams necessarily. It was we should have known with
- 10:42the Dodgers, Jeffrey says. Mike Trout, comeback Player of
- 10:48the Year and ALMVP leads the Angels to their first playoff
- 10:53series win of his career. Wow, dear Jeffrey, there's
- 10:59there's hot takes and then there's just the impossible.
- 11:03And that's no disrespect to Mike, but it's the angels.
- 11:06Yeah, did play 130 games this year. 797 OPS, 26 home runs, two
- 11:19stolen bases, 14 double SA, 121 OPS.
- 11:23Plus not quite the MVP production we're looking for,
- 11:29but you know, they hate it. He's back in 130 games or
- 11:34something to that kind of. I was I would have gone under
- 11:38for sure. If you would have put that line
- 11:40there, you would have said like 120.
- 11:42I would have been like, I don't think he played under 20 games
- 11:44this year. I don't know why.
- 11:46I just. How devastating would it have
- 11:50been had Mike Trout just had a renaissance year and it was just
- 11:54completely overshadowed by. I mean, Judge was obviously
- 11:57presumably going to be in the conversation, but then a fellow
- 12:02division mate just seemingly comes out of nowhere and.
- 12:05Would have. Stolen the show.
- 12:07What a shame, but not the case, Lee says.
- 12:11Reyes win the East. I wanted this so bad.
- 12:15Rays win the East and go all the way to the World Series.
- 12:18Major League Baseball is forced to play the World Series in an
- 12:2111,000 seat in minor league park.
- 12:24I wanted. That enough people rooting for
- 12:26that, That would have been neat. I wanted that for no other
- 12:31reason than the logistical nightmare that that it would
- 12:34have been, Jake says. Pirates and Reds make the play
- 12:40offs. Mets miss out. 02 out of the
- 12:44three. Pirates was maybe pushing it a
- 12:48little bit. Yeah, little bias.
- 12:51I'm assuming we know the last name of that Jake.
- 12:54No. No different.
- 12:57Jake. Oh, all right.
- 12:59Yeah, Jake, Jake was on to something there, the Reds said.
- 13:04We will take your spot and do nothing else.
- 13:08And sure, prophecy. Fulfilled.
- 13:11Tell you what, did they ever couple more here?
- 13:17Murray says. Even without Cole, I still think
- 13:21we have a rematch in the World Series.
- 13:29Kind of close. I I guess is that what we're
- 13:34calling it? I guess.
- 13:36I guess, I guess. Let's see.
- 13:41I mean you guess the Dodger part right as?
- 13:45As we just talked about, we, we, we should have known.
- 13:48We we knew that was coming. Yeah.
- 13:53Speaking of the Dodgers, Orlando says Dodgers will break the
- 13:56record for most games, one in a season, and get knocked out in
- 13:59the first round. I couldn't.
- 14:02Now I would have subscribed to this take sure, before the
- 14:05season started, because that just seemed like a very
- 14:07plausible storyline. That was fun.
- 14:13They were either going to run the table or they were going to
- 14:15get bounced in the first round. There was no.
- 14:17I don't feel like there's any middle ground with that.
- 14:19Yeah, I, I mean, we'll get into it later, I guess.
- 14:23I, I feel like they earned this World Series.
- 14:26I feel like they really earned it.
- 14:27Oh, very much so. So it wasn't like a just world
- 14:32beater, boring to watch situation.
- 14:36They had to, they had to work for it.
- 14:37They got it. It was nice to see the Dodgers
- 14:41have to put up and overcome with, overcome what these other,
- 14:44you know, peasant teams have to peasant come, you know, poverty.
- 14:50Yeah. I did get that right by the way,
- 14:52but that was one of my hot take ones was I told everyone to
- 14:57hammer the under on the Nash. The under.
- 15:00Yeah, you did you. You called that.
- 15:03Yeah. And for the record, I think it
- 15:05was 105 1/2 games and they not a single team won 100 games this
- 15:10year. That's the craziest.
- 15:13One of the craziest takeaways from this year.
- 15:16But I get, I mean, I guess it's a sign of good things.
- 15:18Little more, little bit more parody across the league.
- 15:22Love to see that couple more here.
- 15:26Aaron says. Vinnie Pasquantino comes out of
- 15:29nowhere and plays like an absolute beast. 40 homers, hits
- 15:34330. What did what did Vinnie P do
- 15:37this? Year.
- 15:38Well, I know he missed a lot of time.
- 15:40He did. He did miss a lot of time, but
- 15:41what was what? What was he?
- 15:43What did? What was the prediction?
- 15:4540 homers, 330 average. OK, we had 32 jacks.
- 15:50What was he trending towards? 32 jacks?
- 15:54But we hit 264. So modern baseball, yeah, just
- 15:5970 points off, but. How about it?
- 16:05I mean those are those are more judge Judgian numbers as it
- 16:11relates to the average. Why did I think he missed time?
- 16:14He did miss time. Maybe not.
- 16:16Maybe not a whole you said, or you said a whole he.
- 16:18Played 160 games. I don't what.
- 16:21Did he? Really.
- 16:22Yes. I don't know.
- 16:23What were we watching? Hold on, was this, are we
- 16:25thinking last year did he he had a, did he have a major injury
- 16:28last? Year, I think it was last year
- 16:30because then he came back for the postseason.
- 16:32Were you looking at the stats? What did what happened?
- 16:34Yeah. It was 131 the year before
- 16:36though, but like not that much, you know?
- 16:40I thought it was some but like not a ton.
- 16:44He definitely. I swear we talked about Vinnie P
- 16:49coming back from a big injury and the Royals needing all the
- 16:52help they can get. Was that not a storyline this
- 16:54year? Apparently not.
- 16:56I thought that was last year, but I, I, I thought he was hurt
- 17:01this year I really did too. So I don't, I don't know.
- 17:07Oh, let's let's round out with this one and we'll get then
- 17:10we'll get into some, some other some takes of ours.
- 17:13Zach says Guardians will be Zach says Guardians will be 15 games
- 17:19under 500 at the break, but make the playoffs and lose in the
- 17:24ALCS again. That's, I mean, it's all over
- 17:27the place, but he touched on some very interesting and
- 17:30relevant points there and he caps it with Emmanuel Class A
- 17:37wins the Cy Young Emmanuel Class A won, won something he won.
- 17:42Something. Trip to prison maybe.
- 17:45Oh boy. Hang on, so the let, let's run
- 17:51it back so. He let's run it back.
- 17:52He said Guardians will be 15. Under at the break.
- 17:56OK, so let's look at what would be All Star Break Standings
- 18:052025. Let's check it real quick.
- 18:12Had to have been close, maybe not at the break.
- 18:15I hate, I hate MLB.com. I just get final standings.
- 18:24It's hard to go back. Oh, stab Muse, no.
- 18:30Here we go, I got it. Baseball Reference on January or
- 18:36January, July 16th, the Guardians were 12 games back,
- 18:43right? The 16th would have been the
- 18:44break. I believe that was wasn't that
- 18:47the date of the Yeah All Star game?
- 18:51Guardians were 12 games back. Make the playoffs and losing the
- 18:56ALCS. No, no, come back and win the
- 18:58division, right? Didn't he say?
- 18:59No, Make the playoffs. That would have been impressive.
- 19:02That would have been really, I would have, I would have gone
- 19:05time traveller questions would have started coming up, like did
- 19:09you write The Simpsons episodes as well?
- 19:12You know what I mean? That would.
- 19:15Have honestly, if you would have said what come back and won the
- 19:17division, I would have done them a solid and just left off the
- 19:20second part of that I just like, Oh yeah, no, I've nailed it.
- 19:24He nailed it. Class A for MVP, is that what he
- 19:27said? Cy Young.
- 19:28Cy Young. I was going to.
- 19:29I was like, that's. That's exaggerated blood.
- 19:34No, no, no, no. Just Cy Young.
- 19:36Just Cy Young. Who could have seen that coming
- 19:38though, you know? His, his bookies or however that
- 19:44works. I don't know you.
- 19:46You know more about that stuff than I do.
- 19:48His, His what's the term? Not his betters, his.
- 19:55There's a term for it. I'm blanket, but yeah.
- 19:58Kidnappers. Holding him ransom.
- 20:01There's there's some conspiracies to be had there.
- 20:04I'm and I'm I'm a conspiracy guy.
- 20:06Not not the weird conspiracies, but.
- 20:09But this one stinks. This one stinks.
- 20:14The math doesn't math, but we'll get into that hopefully at the
- 20:16end if we have time. But let's get into some of our
- 20:19our picks. We've laughed at at at your
- 20:21all's expense. Now we can laugh at ours.
- 20:23Let's. Laugh at ours.
- 20:26All right, our picks for division winners and wild card
- 20:33teams. I had we actually, we both had
- 20:37the Red Sox coming out of the AL East.
- 20:39Yeah, a postseason team, but not winners of the East.
- 20:45That was the Jays. The.
- 20:46Central the record I had the Jays finishing fourth in the
- 20:49division. Yes.
- 20:53Neither of the neither of us had them even in the postseason.
- 20:57Yeah, spoiler the Royals I had out of the Central, you had the
- 21:03Guardians BB. Thank you.
- 21:06Thank you. I mean.
- 21:08I'll take it. Yeah, yeah, by the literal skin
- 21:14of their teeth. We both had the Rangers coming
- 21:18out of the West not to be. What a bummer of an offensive
- 21:21season. Everyone talked about that
- 21:23lineup. Big bummer.
- 21:29Yeah, one of the weaker offenses in the American League, if not
- 21:33baseball. Yikes.
- 21:36The Nationals actually scored more runs than the Rangers, the
- 21:41last place in at least 30 games under 500 Washington Nationals.
- 21:45Any who's wild card I had the in order.
- 21:50I had the Astros, Orioles and my Sacramento A's.
- 21:57You had the Yankees, Royals and Astros.
- 21:59The three wild card teams were the Yankees, Red Sox and Tigers.
- 22:08So not, not great picks. Yeah, not, not, not exceptional
- 22:16picks from the American League side.
- 22:18The National League side didn't look much better.
- 22:22I had the Braves out of the East.
- 22:24You had the Phills, Bravo. I had the Cubs out of the
- 22:30Central. Silly me.
- 22:31Same. And then I had the Dodgers.
- 22:35I mean, you want to talk about a, a pick what a what a sleeper,
- 22:44dark horse selection, if I do say so myself.
- 22:49And then you have the D backs out of the West.
- 22:51And then for the wild card. Wild card, I had D backs.
- 22:56Phil's, Mets again. Silly me, dude.
- 23:00And then you had the Dodgers, Braves, and Mets.
- 23:06Ugly. Horrendous.
- 23:10Well, for the record, yours truly had the Dodgers in five.
- 23:17Granted, it was over the Rangers, but I still went still
- 23:22went Dodgers in five. You had what what I which I
- 23:25thought was a great potential World Series match up coming
- 23:29coming into the year. I mean, maybe not the result,
- 23:33but the the match up. You had D backs over the Red Sox
- 23:37in seven. I thought that would have been
- 23:40an exciting match up. So those are our those are our,
- 23:48our standings picks. Let's get into our award picks,
- 23:54which I'm sure most of you listening are probably here for
- 23:57anyway, because that's what's that's what's going down this
- 24:00week. That's what went down this week.
- 24:02I should say for our player picks, Rookie of the Year, I, I
- 24:15went Jackson Job out of the American League, you went Jack
- 24:22Caglione, which between the start for Job and the hype
- 24:31around Caglione, there was some promise there.
- 24:37There was a a glimmer of hope. What did Job do?
- 24:42Let's see. Job went four and one with a
- 24:45422. It's I'm telling you, I had him.
- 24:48I picked him up in fantasy. He pitched better than what his
- 24:52numbers may have shown. I'll say that he made ten starts
- 24:56before hitting the shelf. He had a whip of 149.
- 25:00Not important. Jack Caglion owes me something.
- 25:03A -1.3 War. That's what I'm saying.
- 25:06At least my pick was produced a positive war like at least he
- 25:11contributed something to his. Mind my guy.
- 25:13My guy needs to pay the Royals back.
- 25:18That's that's a valid point. That's a conversation I think
- 25:21needs to be had over there. It's probably going to be
- 25:24brought up in. The Cbas in Kansas.
- 25:25City if you have a negative war. You owe us money.
- 25:28Honestly, I could see that being.
- 25:30Forfeit your salary. That could be the stumbling
- 25:34block to getting a new CBA done. Like the players and and league
- 25:38are ready to move forward, but the league's like right,
- 25:41actually, we need to get this iron out.
- 25:45We're owed money. Shut down style.
- 25:47We're exactly, yeah, we're owed money cause of Jack's 2025.
- 25:52So not great there. The Rookies of the Year as they
- 25:57were announced. I had a sex I that was a sexy
- 26:00pick but. You did because CAG Leone wasn't
- 26:04even and I, I remember, I remember you text texting you
- 26:07after we did the episode and I was like, hold on, pump the
- 26:11brakes. CAG Leone's not even projected.
- 26:13Didn't even break camp, not even projected to go into the league.
- 26:17He did play 62 games so if he didn't stink it up so much he
- 26:26probably could have played more, but he sucked.
- 26:32National League, I went Bubba Chandler and you went Roki
- 26:36Sasaki. All, all great potential for all
- 26:40four of these names. All the ceilings are are very
- 26:43high for these four names. Copy paste, copy paste Bubba for
- 26:47next year, maybe think about that.
- 26:50I might, I might. Go back.
- 26:53Might do it. Bubba Chandler four and one with
- 26:57a four O 2 across seven games, 7 appearances, four starts.
- 27:02He did. He did record a save.
- 27:04Had a whip in .92. Roki Sasaki 1 and one.
- 27:08Obviously missed a great deal of time. 1 and 110 appearances. 8
- 27:14starts, 446 ERA with a whip of 1431.
- 27:19Postseason hero Postseason. Got to count for something.
- 27:21Hero but the the Rookies of the Year this year.
- 27:34Nick, can I can. I love that, Love the
- 27:37performance of Sir Nick. Sorry, we we'll get into the
- 27:42we'll get into that. You got a you got a thought?
- 27:43No. I was just going to say the NL.
- 27:47The NL race was really boring. I'm going to keep it real with
- 27:52you. I sucked.
- 27:54I don't think I knew Drake Baldwin's name on opening day.
- 27:58I didn't. I mean, I knew that like
- 28:01obviously he was starting to make his mark like when Sean
- 28:04Murphy went down, but like I didn't, I never would have.
- 28:10You got to put the whatever odds out there you could have put
- 28:13plus 100,000 and I wouldn't have picked his name.
- 28:20No disrespect. Just didn't see it coming.
- 28:22Didn't even know, especially with like, you know, Rokie
- 28:28Sasaki, like, I feel like that was like AI.
- 28:31That was my slam dunk pick. That was like a, oh, this is an
- 28:34easy, easy fair. Yeah.
- 28:38It's not how baseball works anyway.
- 28:40Shout out to Nick Kurtz though, And I think Jack Wilson was
- 28:47runner up second. Runner up.
- 28:50That's cool, my guy. Roman Anthony just there for the
- 28:54certificate, I guess. I don't know what, I don't know
- 28:57what, Jacob. Which one's dad?
- 29:02Jack, Jack. Jack Jack.
- 29:04Jacob Wilson for the A's as it as currently employed.
- 29:09Yes. Jack, I I didn't understand what
- 29:11you're. I was like, we're talking Roman
- 29:12Anthony here. Yeah.
- 29:15Jacob Wilson runner up. Roman Anthony third.
- 29:18I don't know what 3rd place gets, probably a coupon to a
- 29:21coupon to Chuck E Cheese or something.
- 29:24An expired coupon that you got to like really kind of maneuver
- 29:27with the cashier you. Know yeah you really got a sweet
- 29:31sock em yeah to where, though? To where?
- 29:34I didn't even oh, I didn't even see the expiration date on
- 29:37there. What do you can you, you know,
- 29:41we're here brought the kids. I'm I'm sensing this is a Jimmy
- 29:48John's an expired coupon to Jimmy John's for 3rd place for
- 29:53in the National National League. I think you're giving it too
- 29:57much credit. Why is it Chuck E Cheese?
- 30:01I was thinking like a Long John Silver's or something like.
- 30:07Come on, man, Just just just give me.
- 30:09Just give me the fish. We didn't.
- 30:12You didn't. I didn't see the fine print on
- 30:14this coupon. You didn't see the fine print on
- 30:16this coupon. Let's just pretend like that
- 30:18never happened. I give you this piece of paper
- 30:21and you give me this questionable.
- 30:22It's like a free month old fish on the side with a purchase of
- 30:28$10 or more. That's the best.
- 30:30That's always the catch. That's the catch with these
- 30:32coupons these days. You got to spend $25 to get 2
- 30:371/2% off. Thanks, Long John Silvers.
- 30:41What a joke. What a joke.
- 30:44But yeah, Nick Kurtz, all 31st place votes, unanimous hit 290
- 30:51with 36 jacks and 86 RB is like, that's forget a rookie.
- 30:57That's just a that's a fantastic year.
- 31:01I don't care what your age is. That's huge and only played 117
- 31:07games like it. That's imagine if he puts
- 31:11UP130140 games like we're talking about.
- 31:15What's that? We're having a different
- 31:16conversation. One dot double O2 OPS. 3rd in
- 31:22baseball, right? Come on, 151 punches, though.
- 31:29We got to figure that out. That's all right.
- 31:31Still hit 290. I still cannot believe I dropped
- 31:35this kid in fantasy that that will forever haunt me.
- 31:38I ended up winning the league so it didn't matter.
- 31:40Real tough drop, but yeah, but holy.
- 31:44Smokes. Are we going to get into the
- 31:45general takes later? Yeah, yeah.
- 31:48Just checking. 2025 what is that 162 average come out to 50?
- 31:58So he was on pace for 50. Had he extrapolated over 162,
- 32:02that's a heck of a year. And then who?
- 32:05Did 200 strikeouts, also on pace for that.
- 32:09Yikes. Drake Baldwin, 27419 homers.
- 32:15I just don't think it was much of A race.
- 32:17I don't. You could.
- 32:19OfferUp $100 right now. I couldn't tell you came in
- 32:21second. You could offer Nate $100 to
- 32:24Long John Silvers and he's not not getting.
- 32:29Who couldn't tell you came in second?
- 32:33I don't think. I saw the graphic today and I
- 32:35still don't know. Oh, was it Cade Horton?
- 32:41It was Cade Horton and Caleb Durbin.
- 32:44Caleb Durbin, I think, finished third.
- 32:46Just a weak, weak race in the NL.
- 32:49Yeah, no disrespect. I mean, mild, Yeah, mild
- 32:53disrespect, but you know, good. Good for Drake Baldwin.
- 32:58Our The Braves needed at least a little, you know, here we go.
- 33:01They need a little something. This.
- 33:02Little fans miserable our Cy Young picks.
- 33:08I stand by I stand by both my picks.
- 33:13I don't know if you're going to be able to do. 1.
- 33:16One sure, sure, and I'm when I say stand by, I I don't mean
- 33:22that like oh, these, these two names should have won.
- 33:25Obviously they shouldn't have, but I, I don't I don't look at
- 33:30my pics and like cringe. I don't laugh.
- 33:35I'm just like I feel like I feel like these are strong, solid
- 33:39pics. You were you were close to the
- 33:41bullseye. You were in on both.
- 33:44Not it's not a bullseye. A Cy Young Worthy campaign for
- 33:49one and what could have been, barring injuries and setbacks
- 33:55for the other. My picks were Garrett Crochet
- 33:58and Hunter Green, yours Max Freed and Spencer Strider.
- 34:04Max freed at a certain point looked like I was smooth sailing
- 34:08to that. I You're good.
- 34:11I'm all good. Thank you.
- 34:12Can you close that for me? Oh yeah, sorry.
- 34:15Thanks bud. Cleaning crew.
- 34:20Like what is happening here? No, I'm all good.
- 34:23Thank you. He's like, hey man, can you
- 34:27blink if if you're in trouble? What's going on in here?
- 34:30Are you being held hostage? Oh all good, I got to get like
- 34:34an on air sign or something. Yeah, holy smokes.
- 34:37Figured out. No, I was.
- 34:39I was just going to say I I got to admit, I don't think I
- 34:43realized what kind of year Fried had when it was all said and
- 34:46done it was. Really good, but he had like a
- 34:49rough like 10 starts or something that set him back a.
- 34:53286 He went 19 and five I mean for those that care, 19-O5A286
- 35:02Here's the thing I've if you, if you win 20 games, you have no
- 35:06choice but to care like that's, that's that's got to be talked
- 35:09about but. That's fine.
- 35:10Finished just shy of that 19528632 starts.
- 35:14So he posted 189 strikeouts over 195 and a third innings with a
- 35:20WHIP of 11 O one. So that's that's a great pick.
- 35:26That's a great pick to stand by. Thank you.
- 35:29And like stepping in, you know, Cole out like that was somewhat
- 35:32of a like a ballsy pick, you know, step into first year in
- 35:38pinstripes. I feel good about that one.
- 35:44You should. That was good.
- 35:45That was good. I feel good about for.
- 35:48Sure, you were right there. Like if school wasn't school,
- 35:50that's probably you probably wouldn't.
- 35:52That and you got to. You got to take into account we
- 35:55haven't seen a repeat or a back-to-back Cy Young winner in
- 35:59quarter of a century. So I felt pretty good about, you
- 36:01know, maybe it not being Scubal, but Scubal said no, it is going
- 36:05to be Scubal. Garrett Crochet.
- 36:08On the year, he went eighteen of five with an ERA AT25932 starts,
- 36:14205 and a third innings pitch, 255 strikeouts and a WHIP of
- 36:1910/28. Spencer, great year.
- 36:24Spencer Strider has too big of a head for the hats.
- 36:27I don't the hat. I don't know why it looks so
- 36:30weird on his head, but it has to be a smaller hat.
- 36:34There's no way that's the same size hat.
- 36:37We got to get that figured out. I agree.
- 36:39I'm with you, Spencer Strider. Obviously not.
- 36:46Not the year to be desired there for him. 7 and 14 made 23
- 36:52starts, 445 logged 125 and a third Indians 130.
- 36:58What's in the water down there? I.
- 36:59Don't know man, it's just contagious.
- 37:04And a whip OF1390600 Green, my NL Cy Young pick.
- 37:12Hunter green like I it it still feels like elite status is like
- 37:20obtainable. Oh yeah, you.
- 37:22Know what I'm saying? But like Spencer Strider that
- 37:24year that that whole year, like really like, I don't know if I
- 37:29could just slap elite on you and like throw the ace status.
- 37:34You're saying as we get further removed, Yeah, I.
- 37:37I think he's going to be he's going to have a good career, but
- 37:40like I don't think we can just sit there and like should be
- 37:43like, Oh yeah, Ace all day starting the All Star game every
- 37:48year for the next decade. Like I it doesn't feel that way
- 37:51'cause that was a That's a bad year.
- 37:54It won't be starting the Major League Baseball star game for
- 37:57the next decade. I know that much.
- 37:59Maybe the? Mexican League.
- 38:02Maybe the next? Join us.
- 38:03Join us. Tijuana, you can ask me about
- 38:09it. You know, you know, Hunter Green
- 38:13on the year 276, he went 7 and 419 starts again, just dealing
- 38:18with with the groin injury I think set him back.
- 38:23And then I think he had a a a recurrence with it not too long
- 38:27after. 107 and 2/3 innings, 132 strikeouts and a WHIP of 938.
- 38:34Yeah, to start the year, I know it was early, but there for a
- 38:38couple months into the season, he was in the very, very early
- 38:42conversation for Cy Young candidate for sure, but not to
- 38:49be as the Cy Young winners were the aforementioned Tarek Scubble
- 38:56and Paul Skeens. Tarek Scubble becomes the first
- 39:00pitcher to win back-to-back awards since degrom in 18 and 19
- 39:06for the Mets and the first AL pitcher to do so since Pedro.
- 39:11So that's what I was referencing.
- 39:12First, repeat specifically the AL Pedro in 99 and 2000.
- 39:22I don't know, I I what do you say?
- 39:24Like what? What else?
- 39:25What else is there to say about Terry Schuble?
- 39:28I I he's I don't like, I don't know.
- 39:34I I. Put out him some help.
- 39:36I put out this tweet. My arm's that rotation.
- 39:39Yeah, I put out this tweet the other day where it was just like
- 39:42the. Wouldn't be surprised at all if
- 39:45it. Post Casey, it's been like five
- 39:48years. Whatever guy, let me make my
- 39:52point. I put out this post the other
- 39:56day and it was the wouldn't be surprised at all if it happened
- 40:00to line up for the Dodgers opening day 2026.
- 40:04And I just made this egregious line up with all these names
- 40:06that have been linked to or rumored to be linked to the
- 40:10Dodgers in this current offseason.
- 40:14And I had scuba slotted in his picture just.
- 40:18To be just to be problematic. And somebody replied and they
- 40:22were like, everything else tracks.
- 40:26But Scubal's not getting the start over Yamamoto.
- 40:28And I was like, let's not be a victim of the moment here.
- 40:33We're talking about the best pitcher in baseball the last two
- 40:36years running. What are we talking about,
- 40:39Yamamoto? No disrespect big Yamamoto guy,
- 40:42but no, this is the best pitcher in baseball hands down, no
- 40:47questions asked. Stud freak, don't know what else
- 40:53to say. Weird, funky, really good.
- 41:01Shut up Seattle University, though, Kid Kid had one offer.
- 41:05That's it. One offer out of high school.
- 41:08Didn't want to take it the call either.
- 41:10Wasn't even interested. Pops is like you know, just give
- 41:16it a shot see what they say. Good for you, good for you Pops.
- 41:22Shout out Dad. Love that for the kid love that
- 41:26for the kid How many All right so he's got 2 how many you think
- 41:32he he finishes his career with Terry Scubble?
- 41:36How many career Cy Youngs do you think he pushes with we'll?
- 41:40Give him 4-4. Yeah.
- 41:44I don't want to go crazy. Sorry.
- 41:46That's lukewarm. I didn't say it was lukewarm.
- 41:54Yeah, I mean, he's he's 28, be 29 next year.
- 42:01You know, he's in the he's in the peak.
- 42:06Like 4 is nice, 4 is generous. You know?
- 42:13If he was like 25 then I would be having a different
- 42:15conversation if he was. If he had his second one by 2627
- 42:21changes things. I don't know.
- 42:24If he had two sides by through his age 25 season, I would have
- 42:29some questions like what what sort of enhancing medications
- 42:38are you taking my friend? Because that that seems a
- 42:40little. Yeah, A.
- 42:43Little much. Either way, he was just fine.
- 42:48Good on scuba. Another repeat.
- 42:53No mustache this time. What?
- 42:57Are you talking about? What are you talking about?
- 43:04Who does have a mustache? You take your time.
- 43:13Another repeat. We're talking about the National
- 43:16League. Cy Young.
- 43:17Yeah. Paul Skeens.
- 43:23Yeah. Where does the no mustache come
- 43:27into play? Trying trying to track.
- 43:32He's a beard down. I mean, sure.
- 43:36Yeah, you're over analyzing. No, I I just think if you've got
- 43:42a beard, you also have a mustache.
- 43:44Is that controversial? I thought that was a pretty
- 43:48reasonable take, but now you have me second guessing myself.
- 43:51If you have a beard, you also have a mustache.
- 43:57Not always. If you don't have a mustache,
- 44:03yeah, I guess you still have a beard.
- 44:05It just looks very, very strange.
- 44:08Better reaction this time as well.
- 44:10Moving on. Better reaction on the couch,
- 44:13more friends around. Hold on, we're not just going to
- 44:17just zoom right past that better reaction.
- 44:22What? What was the bar?
- 44:25Anything. Yeah.
- 44:26Anything else? Just human.
- 44:27Human movement. Human reaction, human emotion,
- 44:32just simply moving your body. Fair.
- 44:37Then yes, far better reaction from our from our guy Paul
- 44:43Skeens. But again, another race, as I
- 44:50mentioned earlier, another race that had zero drama.
- 44:58Yeah. Who was in second?
- 45:03Christopher Sanchez. Oh yeah, Goodyear, No
- 45:07disrespect. Goodyear never had a shot.
- 45:11Goodyear though, Good Goodyear. I'd be excited if I was a
- 45:16Phillips fan. I would agree, yeah, I would
- 45:23agree. But a great year for skeins.
- 45:28Let me ask you, let me ask you the same question for skeins.
- 45:30How many? How many cyongs do you think he
- 45:32finishes with? I I'll go ahead and.
- 45:37Don't put him in. You're not putting him in in
- 45:39Clemens territory. I think he's going to sniff it.
- 45:43You think he's going to sniff I? Think he's going to sniff it?
- 45:46You think? He's going to sniff 7 Cy Youngs.
- 45:48I think he's going to, I think he's going to sniff it.
- 45:51I think I'll, if you put the number at 5:00, I'll take the
- 45:53over. Now it depends on what league,
- 46:02you know, how things, if things get shaken up, if you got to
- 46:07deal with Scubal, if he does, if he does hop over as he gets
- 46:12traded, if he signs in in the other league, then you know,
- 46:15like I don't know. If he ends up pitching for a
- 46:20hated team in the American League East, don't want that,
- 46:26would love that. Nope, fan of that, would
- 46:28absolutely hate it. But we'll, we'll, we'll
- 46:32hopefully touch on that at the end.
- 46:33But on the year finishes and it's just 10 and 10 with a, the
- 46:39197. I, I'm sorry, I just can't, I,
- 46:42I, I can't get past the 10 and 10 mark.
- 46:45Like, I know that it doesn't matter.
- 46:47I know that nobody cares. But it, it just speaks to the
- 46:51state of the team that employs him that we have a Cy Young
- 46:56winner finishing 10 and 10 on the year.
- 46:59That's just funny to me. That's just funny to me.
- 47:02Finish the position. To move just move that staff
- 47:06further down the line then like if no one cares why is it like
- 47:11bang right there after game starts on the on the line?
- 47:16Like slide it down. It's interesting.
- 47:20Real quick side note, you you, your comment there made me think
- 47:24of it. I was looking at a picture I
- 47:26took at a Nats game the other day.
- 47:28I was just going through small pictures and this was like, I
- 47:32think over it. This actually, no, this was,
- 47:36this was like 2008 maybe. And that you could see the
- 47:39scoreboard in the background and I'm just looking at 'cause I'm
- 47:42like, oh, OK, who's in the, who's in the lineup or whatever.
- 47:45And I was looking at the stats that were highlighted on the
- 47:51scoreboard, 'cause I'm like, let me see, like how the evolution
- 47:56of stats is reflected on the scoreboard.
- 47:58And it was just your typical like back in the day, it was
- 48:01just average, homers, RBI. And I was just thinking
- 48:06comparing it to now. And it's like, there you go to
- 48:08some part, you go to some ballparks, batting average is at
- 48:12like the end of the line, if it's even up there.
- 48:15It's just like OPSWRC plus. So just an interesting thought I
- 48:20had the other day. Very interesting realization I
- 48:23had. So you're putting, you're
- 48:27putting it at at your, your you're setting the line at 5,
- 48:31you're taking the over. Yeah, but I mean, he's
- 48:36immediately got 2. So no, yeah, rookie the year
- 48:41last year. That's why I was confused
- 48:47earlier. You're like another.
- 48:48One Cy Young last year. Dude, another repeat.
- 48:51Am I losing my mind? Another repeat.
- 48:54Who won last year? Oh, it came in 3rd last year.
- 48:59Another repeat. No mustache.
- 49:01I'm like. I thought he won last year.
- 49:03I'm lost on both both accounts. I just thought I'd like.
- 49:07I guess I chalked it up that way.
- 49:11It did feel that way, and I think that contributed to his
- 49:14reaction last year where he was like, I, I mean, this is sick,
- 49:16but like, I wanted the, I wanted the big one, you know?
- 49:19I guess it's my like, yeah, because I saw that video over
- 49:22and over again and I was like, maybe in my brain I logged it as
- 49:29back-to-back. Well, I'm just going to go on
- 49:31the record and say he's going to win another one next year.
- 49:34So there you go. Next back-to-back.
- 49:36There you go. OK, so now you're you're you're
- 49:38checking the box and back-to-back.
- 49:40It's coming. I have it.
- 49:41You guys don't get it like I was.
- 49:43I'm right, just not yet. He's seen it, he's seen it.
- 49:47We just haven't caught up yet. We already know.
- 49:51We haven't gotten there yet. We haven't gotten there yet.
- 49:54I got some questions I got to ask you off air then if if
- 49:56you're if you're that far ahead in the stream.
- 50:01You guys, you guys should invest in this little thing called
- 50:03Amazon. It's going to.
- 50:06It's really going to take off, No, But finishing this line 10
- 50:13and 10197200 and 16 strikeouts and 187 2/3 innings.
- 50:24Wheeler. Wheeler last year.
- 50:26No, Wheeler is still chasing it. Remember who?
- 50:29Won last year I'm. Oh, it's Chris Sale.
- 50:38These years all run together. Why did I think Chris Sales Cy
- 50:41Young was like 2 years ago? That's what.
- 50:43Happens when we don't take breaks.
- 50:44People. We just, it's all one.
- 50:46It's one year. It's 1 continuous.
- 50:50I thought that was a long time ago.
- 50:54One continuous mental flow. Yeah.
- 51:00We move on, I. Don't know Ball.
- 51:03Someone's listening. They're like these idiots don't
- 51:05know ball. That's fine.
- 51:06I I could have got, I could have arrived at Chris Sale, but I
- 51:11would have needed some time because, like I said, I'd I
- 51:13could have sworn that sighing was two years ago.
- 51:19Yeah. No.
- 51:21Hold on, hold on, hold on. OK.
- 51:30I was like Chris Sale then went back-to-back.
- 51:34Did he? No, he didn't.
- 51:37We're good. We're good.
- 51:40We move on to MVPS. My actually, no.
- 51:45Both of our picks identical. The kid friend of the pod, Bobby
- 51:53Witt Junior out of the American League and Shohei Otani out of
- 51:58the National League. Those were our pre season picks.
- 52:01We were half right. We were half right.
- 52:09And truth be told, I think we we took the cop out in that league.
- 52:16A little, but we needed points on the board we.
- 52:19Yeah, I mean, you got to, you got to take the points when you
- 52:21can, where you can get them. Bobby Witt on the year posted a
- 52:27WAR 7.1 at 23 Ding dongs with a 295 average, 88 ribs, OPS 852
- 52:36and an OPS plus A136A Goodyear. A very, very, very solid year.
- 52:42Put that over 15 years, good to go.
- 52:47I did. I see he finished fourth.
- 52:51Yeah, I mean that. I think that's fair.
- 52:54What is fourth in the in the ALMVP race get you now mind you,
- 53:04it's like those it's further down than third like we talked
- 53:07about earlier, but it is for MVP as opposed to Rookie of the
- 53:11year. So a little a little different
- 53:13there. Yeah.
- 53:16Oh, I don't know. That's hard to say.
- 53:23What's something that's like? It gets you a partially
- 53:26scratched off $50 scratch off from your local gas station.
- 53:31So there's still a chance, but your odds are a little more
- 53:36slim. I was going to say like 10% off
- 53:39like the the McAfee security thing on on your computer that
- 53:43pops up. With a purchase of a two year
- 53:46subscription. Yeah, yeah.
- 53:48You get 10% off like it's expiring soon and you're you got
- 53:54314 viruses on this thing. You need this.
- 53:59You need this. It does expire at the end of
- 54:02this month, so get on it. Yeah.
- 54:05And then you squint your eyes a little more and realize,
- 54:07actually, it was November of last.
- 54:09Year wait, wait, what if it's like those those like refinance
- 54:13emails that you get for like your car or you're like it'll go
- 54:18up in cost and be higher percentage that's probably.
- 54:24I don't know what kind of sketchy scam emails you're
- 54:27getting, but I get a lot. I don't know if I don't know if
- 54:30I'm getting those, but the American League winner, as I
- 54:36believe we alluded to earlier in this very episode, Aaron Judge,
- 54:43talk to me. What are your thoughts?
- 54:46What are your thoughts on your boy notching his third?
- 54:51Third MVP should be 4th. I can't.
- 54:56I can't disagree with you on that.
- 54:58Yeah, Rob from L2 they L2 they but dope man exciting.
- 55:05I think it like starts to put him into some some serious
- 55:09legend talk. All right, I'll just we'll just
- 55:15skip right to it. You don't care what I think of
- 55:17on the Yankee side, who I think it was Brent Rooker who came out
- 55:25with the with the recent quote you.
- 55:27Want me to read it liked? Yeah, can I read it?
- 55:30There's an actual. Post I think Brent Tweet.
- 55:34Brent Rooker, who we did in fact see in the Atlanta airport the
- 55:39morning after the All Star game. A lot of.
- 55:42Awkward eye contact waiting in security line A.
- 55:44Lot of awkward eye contact but was attending very well.
- 55:49I might add to his his children plural.
- 55:54I think he has multiple kids. His his wife was there as well I
- 55:57believe. Waiting in the line like like a
- 55:59regular dude. Just flying flying economy like
- 56:04the rest of us 'cause the A's can't really help him out.
- 56:10That Brent Rooker posted yesterday, he said P yesterday,
- 56:15meaning the day before the MVP was announced.
- 56:18He said PSA if the person you want to win ALMVP tomorrow does
- 56:22not win. It does not mean no.
- 56:28He said if the person you want to win ALMVP tomorrow does not
- 56:31win. It does no good to try to
- 56:34diminish or disparage the accomplishments of the other.
- 56:38We got to witness 2 great dudes do otherworldly and historic
- 56:41things this season and it truly sucks that one of them has to
- 56:46not win. Don't be a hater, just enjoy the
- 56:49greatness. 100% accurate and I know no one's going to believe
- 56:53me, but I I would have been OK if judge didn't win it.
- 56:58Like I really would have been fine.
- 57:00Like I, I understand the argument for Cal Raleigh.
- 57:05Like I think it's, I think the narrative and the the, the
- 57:13weight of in such a long game and such like a game that has so
- 57:19many things that have happened and so many incredible players
- 57:22do incredible things. For us to be in 2025 and get
- 57:26like a first, you know, a first time switch hitter going 60
- 57:32behind the dish, like that's like that is extremely valuable.
- 57:37And I would have been OK. I really would have this.
- 57:40I think I was a little more heated in season as we were
- 57:45coming down the stretch, but now like that, as both teams have,
- 57:52you know, been bounced in in the post season's over, like, you
- 57:55know, kind of giving me some time to settle down.
- 57:56Like I really would have been OK, because it it is incredible.
- 58:00And I do hope that this story of Cal Raleigh in 2025 gets to be
- 58:05talked about, not in the he got robbed way, but just sheer
- 58:09greatness, because on the counter side, like Aaron Judge
- 58:14really did have one of the greatest offensive seasons
- 58:17again. And I don't think we can just
- 58:21tear that down. I don't think we can slap the
- 58:25oh, East Coast Yankee bias on it.
- 58:27Like no, the reality is that if you remove the names and the
- 58:30teams and the and the graphics off of the players, A&B player A
- 58:36had a historic season and deserved the trophy too and got
- 58:41it. I mean, was this was this one of
- 58:43the best season? I mean, or no, and certainly one
- 58:46of the best, but was this possibly his best season of his
- 58:49career because of just the the all around nature?
- 58:53Because again, the biggest, the biggest knock, yeah, the biggest
- 58:56knock I feel like was well, this guy just strikes out a ton and
- 59:00just hits homers. Well, he had 53 homers, hit 331
- 59:04and had an OPS at 2:15. Which by the way, I don't think
- 59:07anyone has hit over. I, I don't even know, maybe
- 59:12hasn't hit over 40 home runs and won the batting title.
- 59:18I think there was some kind of correlation there.
- 59:20Maybe it was 50 though. I had a note here, I think.
- 59:24I think I had that. Yeah, I think, yeah, I think
- 59:33that was right. I mean, if you're asking me, I I
- 59:38probably would have taken last year over this one.
- 59:46What did he hit last year? He hit 322 last year.
- 59:50Really. Yeah.
- 59:51Wow. With an 1159 OPS, so 15 points
- 59:57higher, 225 OPS plus 10 points higher, a seven O 1 slug.
- 1:00:05Like I'm not trying to throw shade, but we were just talking
- 1:00:07about Mike Trout having a 797 OPS like 20 minutes ago OPS and
- 1:00:15judge had a seven O 1 on base or excuse me, slug last year.
- 1:00:20Like that's like he's doing like these are two consecutive insane
- 1:00:24seasons and it's it's very impressive.
- 1:00:30The walks, the walk to strikeout ratio ratio has definitely
- 1:00:34gotten closer and closer because he's gotten more patient.
- 1:00:38The strikeouts are still what they are.
- 1:00:40I mean, you know, 160 strikeouts.
- 1:00:43I think if you slap the this is today's baseball on it, it's
- 1:00:47like that's pretty good. If he's playing 20 years ago,
- 1:00:51you're like, yeah, that's pretty high.
- 1:00:52But like 124 walks this year. I mean, it's 137 runs.
- 1:01:02He had 179 hits. He had 180 last year.
- 1:01:05These are just back-to-back incredible seasons.
- 1:01:09Incredible seasons. And not to like like you said,
- 1:01:12not to take away at all from what Cal Raleigh did as you
- 1:01:17mentioned first multiple like just things we haven't.
- 1:01:22Seen. It's just insane.
- 1:01:24Things we haven't seen the 7th player to hit 60 homers, mind
- 1:01:29you, as a you did this as a catcher.
- 1:01:32Switch hitter surpassed Sal Perez's mark of 48 homers by
- 1:01:37primary catcher and also topped Mantle's record of 54 homers by
- 1:01:44a switch hitter. On the year Slash 247-350-9589
- 1:01:50was 60 homers a league leading 125 ribs and 110 runs scored.
- 1:01:59And for those of you wondering, well, what about the defense in
- 1:02:09the regular season among AL catchers?
- 1:02:14First in innings. So it wasn't just like, well,
- 1:02:18you know, was he DH in for half the season, first in innings,
- 1:02:25zero passed balls. Yeah, didn't see the first one
- 1:02:29until the postseason. 21 caught stealing, which was 6.
- 1:02:36So he's it And and now mind you, there was a point in the year
- 1:02:43where we where I was looking at, you know, granted it was it was
- 1:02:46the baseball savant side of things.
- 1:02:48So you know, take that for what you will.
- 1:02:50I don't know, you know, if you're listening, if you care
- 1:02:52about that or if you don't care about it.
- 1:02:53But there's still things you should look at when when looking
- 1:02:56at the defense and frankly, it just wasn't like people kept at
- 1:03:00at this point in the season. I want to say it was like maybe
- 1:03:04a little bit after the break. So maybe like late July, early,
- 1:03:08whenever we were having that earlyish conversation about this
- 1:03:11race, people were continuing to just throw around the whole
- 1:03:15Platinum Defense label. And it's like that's not his
- 1:03:20Platinum glove from what was that last year?
- 1:03:25Not relevant to this year? Not to say that he's not
- 1:03:28providing you value behind the dish because at the very at the
- 1:03:31very end of the day, he's a catcher and he's doing it well.
- 1:03:36But to to throw out the label of what about the platinum?
- 1:03:39He's a platinum glove. Of course he should be an ALMVP.
- 1:03:42It's like, well, that's not it doesn't relate to this
- 1:03:44particular race. But to your point, you you make
- 1:03:49a great point. You know, if I think I would
- 1:03:51have been, I would have been, well, I'm not going to say I
- 1:03:54would have been happy with either.
- 1:03:55I've only would have wanted Cal Raleigh to win, of course.
- 1:03:58However, I would have been understanding had either player
- 1:04:03been selected. And with the race itself, Judge
- 1:04:08had 17 first place votes, Raleigh had 13.
- 1:04:13And then vice versa. If two of the writers had
- 1:04:16switched their votes, it would have been a tie, which quite
- 1:04:20honestly. I would have hated.
- 1:04:25Co Co ALMVPS honestly would have been a fitting ending to the way
- 1:04:32that this race, this narrative, yeah, played out over the course
- 1:04:38of the season. I.
- 1:04:40Would have rather he'd lost. It's just, yeah, I don't like
- 1:04:43ties. Again, I mean, this is coming
- 1:04:49from a lifelong die hard Yankee fan.
- 1:04:51I think what what Cal Raleigh did was so Dang cool.
- 1:04:56And like, I grew up catching and I, I, I love and respect
- 1:05:01catchers. I think that it's such a premium
- 1:05:04important position. And there's a reason why these
- 1:05:08types of seasons just don't happen.
- 1:05:11So I fully understand why he got 13 votes.
- 1:05:15I fully understand the uproar of of why he should have won it,
- 1:05:22but I think it's how we go about that conversation.
- 1:05:24And and I guess on that, with that caveat, it's like it took
- 1:05:29one of the greatest seasons we've seen from a hitter to beat
- 1:05:33that. And that's what it was.
- 1:05:37I mean, we're 3/30. He hit 330I know no one cares
- 1:05:42about that anymore. But like, that's crazy.
- 1:05:49It's crazy. Well deserved, well deserved on
- 1:05:58the flip side. On the flippity flip.
- 1:06:02Catch you on the flippity flip. On the flip side, show you Tani.
- 1:06:09Whoa, you little Brooklyn in there or something?
- 1:06:13No, Oh, Donny, Oh, Donny. Hey, I'm walking here.
- 1:06:17No, he put up a did I already run through his line?
- 1:06:21No, I don't feel like I did because I don't remember.
- 1:06:23I don't remember saying 55 jacks, but he he had he posted
- 1:06:27A-77 WAR, 55 jacks at 282, OPS at 1014 and OPS plus A179. 102
- 1:06:40RB is, if I didn't say that, 20 swipes.
- 1:06:44Can we go with one of my general takes, by the way?
- 1:06:46Because it kind of ties in, it's relevant.
- 1:06:48Sure, actually, can we? Well, I had him going
- 1:06:54back-to-back 5050 years and I feel like if he wasn't, I don't
- 1:07:02know. I think he was held on a leash
- 1:07:04on the bases. He was, yeah.
- 1:07:05I think there was a concerted effort made to not he still had.
- 1:07:0920. Sure, but to maybe dial it back
- 1:07:12a little? Bit just sucks.
- 1:07:15It was almost like last year they were just like, let's see
- 1:07:18if he can do it. And now that he did it, they're
- 1:07:21like, all right, let's not push our luck.
- 1:07:23Done. That's what it felt like.
- 1:07:25But Otani. Otani.
- 1:07:28Otani yay, unanimous third straight MVP.
- 1:07:35Remember he had two, two in the in the National League, 4th in
- 1:07:40the last five years. Incredible.
- 1:07:45Another note here, no other player in history has been voted
- 1:07:48MVP unanimously multiple times. Otani has been unanimous every
- 1:07:55time. Don't take it for granted
- 1:07:58people. I understand the Dodger dislike
- 1:08:01but don't take this for granted. This is unbelievable.
- 1:08:04I understand like it's it's easy to understand the the Dodger
- 1:08:08hate the Dodger fatigue and it's also easy to understand the
- 1:08:11Shohei Otani fatigue. Yeah, but get it.
- 1:08:15Do not take this for granted like this you we are going, I'm
- 1:08:22already starting to see it with Mike Trout.
- 1:08:23We're getting close to the end of Mike Trout's career and
- 1:08:26people are are just wasting their time talking about well,
- 1:08:29like is he? Is he a first ballot Hall of
- 1:08:32Famer? Is he even going to make it into
- 1:08:34the Hall of Fame? Just over analyzing what his
- 1:08:37legacy is and will be. Don't do that with Shohatani.
- 1:08:41Don't waste his career. Yeah.
- 1:08:44Arguing back and forth about is this guy overrated?
- 1:08:48Is he today's Babe Ruth? Is he greater than Babe Ruth?
- 1:08:51Like has have, have we seen anybody like Shawahi Otani
- 1:08:55before? Like just stop.
- 1:08:57Like like Brent Rooker said, just enjoy the greatness.
- 1:09:02Enjoy the ride. Obviously he wasn't talking
- 1:09:04about Shawaha Otani here, but the sentiment is still stands.
- 1:09:07Just enjoy the greatness. Yep, Yep, Yep.
- 1:09:13Let's let's wrap up the predictions portion because we
- 1:09:17just got just a couple quick items at the end here with our
- 1:09:21with our general hot takes kind of finish on a little bit of a
- 1:09:27fun note here. I had because you already
- 1:09:33knocked one out. So let me, let me, I'll, I'll,
- 1:09:36I'll counter one of my general hot takes coming into this
- 1:09:41season again, as we sort of general hot takes as, as we sort
- 1:09:45of put a bow on this season. I said coming into this year
- 1:09:50finally embracing the DH role. Rafael Devers hits 50 homers for
- 1:09:55the first time and is the only player in the league to do so.
- 1:10:03Now, mind you, this was after the the like, this wasn't me
- 1:10:06looking into some weird crystal ball like this was after like,
- 1:10:10this was only this was probably less than a week, I think,
- 1:10:14before opening day. So we had gotten past all the
- 1:10:17weird, I play turd all that, like the spring training we got,
- 1:10:21we had we had gotten past all that.
- 1:10:22But I think that's why I wanted to take that angle, because I
- 1:10:26thought that that storyline, that narrative might develop
- 1:10:32well, no team won 100 games. So I mean, that's sort of like
- 1:10:35the I. Guess the.
- 1:10:36Player equivalent. That's fair, right?
- 1:10:42It seems that seems reasonable, like a A-Team getting a hundred
- 1:10:45wins and a player reaching 50. Like, they're both tough, but
- 1:10:49they're definitely doable. Yeah, get what you're saying?
- 1:10:53Yeah, that was that was my thought there, but not to be.
- 1:10:57Finished the year with 35 homers.
- 1:11:02Yeah, well, I mean, I guess if we're going to go some ice cold
- 1:11:08picks here, Vladimir Guerrero junior will have a career high
- 1:11:16in home runs this year. 48 was a career high by the way, but will
- 1:11:21not be wearing a Blue Jays uniform by the end of the
- 1:11:25season. Wishful thinking.
- 1:11:31Yeah. Had 23 pops.
- 1:11:36Crazy postseason though. So like no one really.
- 1:11:38Makes kind of makes up for it I guess.
- 1:11:41And committed long term to the Blue Jays.
- 1:11:46So didn't get. Halfway there on the home run
- 1:11:48mark and locked in that jersey for the rest.
- 1:11:51Of the next 80 years. Love that my next pick I said we
- 1:12:00will see 2 again coming into this year.
- 1:12:03We will see two of the three following names DFA in 2025,
- 1:12:09Anthony Rendon, Kris Bryant or Javi Baez.
- 1:12:13Javi Baez was an All Star. Like.
- 1:12:22Like, come on, like nobody, nobody coming into this year
- 1:12:26would have would have said, oh, this is what are you talking
- 1:12:29about? This is going to age like
- 1:12:30spoiled milk. Javi bias is an All Star this
- 1:12:34year. Nobody was saying that.
- 1:12:36So shut your mouth if you're if you're laughing at that pick,
- 1:12:40only I'm allowed to laugh at that pick.
- 1:12:43Oh well, this one was just fun and honestly I think it was a a
- 1:12:47solid year for the close. Real quick, for the record,
- 1:12:51Anthony Rendon and Chris Bryant should probably.
- 1:12:53Be be neat to happen. So I I'm like half right there.
- 1:12:57Those are the examples as to why our holdout will happen.
- 1:13:01By the way, these owners are like fully guaranteed, really
- 1:13:04like, you're going to lock me in with this?
- 1:13:07Oh man, anyway, good to do. The A's will have their highest
- 1:13:13run scored total in the last 25 years.
- 1:13:17That run total was 884 runs. They put up 733 this year.
- 1:13:25But I was trying to go ballpark. I really youth was looking good.
- 1:13:30Yeah, the ballpark would have been the the biggest factor for
- 1:13:33me. Yeah, sure.
- 1:13:34That's. Even like, yeah.
- 1:13:39Well I was saying approaching 800 but only looks like only a
- 1:13:43couple got 800 this year, so maybe 2-3. 884, I think the I
- 1:13:50mean, that's just, that's a big year.
- 1:13:53That's a heck of a year. Hey, that would have helped me
- 1:13:56probably make my predictions correct.
- 1:13:59That's right. If that would have panned out.
- 1:14:02That was a hot 1. Didn't do a ton of research on
- 1:14:04that one to be honest with. You Hey, sometimes you just got
- 1:14:06to let it fly, you know, shot. From the hip.
- 1:14:08Speaking of letting it fly, I said the Orioles haven't led the
- 1:14:12league in home run since 1996. They do it in 2020. 5 thanks.
- 1:14:18For thanks. Relax.
- 1:14:19They finished 11th. Oh, I finished the 11th.
- 1:14:29You your coupon would get denied.
- 1:14:31I can almost. Guarantee they'd say Sir, this
- 1:14:35restaurant name on this coupon isn't what our restaurant is
- 1:14:39currently named. This is not This cannot fly.
- 1:14:43Sure, that restaurant closed That doesn't exist anymore.
- 1:14:49They finished 11th of 191, so they didn't even crack 200.
- 1:14:52But your your Yankees led the league this year with 274.
- 1:14:59And then did you have one more 'cause I had one more?
- 1:15:02That was it. I had one more.
- 1:15:05Chalk this up to a big, big, long squeaky fart, I said.
- 1:15:13Such a relieving fart, by the way.
- 1:15:15If you let one of those puppies out, you feel so much better.
- 1:15:20I still owe you and the listeners some some variations.
- 1:15:24I I need to get on that my last hot my last general hot take
- 1:15:30general hot take said we will see the last inning of Shohei
- 1:15:34Otani, the pitcher in 2025. Oh boy.
- 1:15:40And boys that could that could not have been further from the
- 1:15:44truth, making making appearances as late as the World Series left
- 1:15:50and. Right, Strong, strong efforts to
- 1:15:54make sure that was the worst take of all time.
- 1:15:59I mean not the worst take of all time, but one of one of them.
- 1:16:05Are we out 'cause you skipped over something that I got right
- 1:16:08and I'd like to announce it? Probably.
- 1:16:10Manager of the Year. You got it, You got it.
- 1:16:14The problem is they don't go on our like that.
- 1:16:16I never put those on our graphic.
- 1:16:18Why do I have it on here? You did.
- 1:16:20You did nail it. Yeah, Stephen Vogt.
- 1:16:24Who did you go nationally? Do you remember?
- 1:16:26Tori Lavello by the D backs winning it, so I figured it'd be
- 1:16:34a good year for them. OK, well now you got me
- 1:16:36wondering, who did I? Do you remember what you?
- 1:16:43Did. No, I I would have done them.
- 1:16:46I would have done them. Here we go.
- 1:16:47I had, OK, I had a little bias playing in here.
- 1:16:53I had I had Alex Cora and Terry Francona.
- 1:16:56Well, it really showed. By the way, Ronald Cunha junior,
- 1:17:04I believe, was named the Comeback Play of the Year,
- 1:17:06correct? Did I get that?
- 1:17:10I had that. I had him.
- 1:17:12Please hold Adam. I had Mike Trout and Acuna who
- 1:17:21won the ale. Oh, I just saw it.
- 1:17:28Hold on. All right.
- 1:17:32So we got some, we got some points on the board.
- 1:17:34Got some points on the board. Oh Jacob and Grom.
- 1:17:37Jacob and Grom all. Right.
- 1:17:39Well deserved, by the way. Yeah, if you're a, if you're a
- 1:17:42vet and like you got some hardware on the shelf and you
- 1:17:46get hurt and miss 80% of a season, you're almost a lock for
- 1:17:51comeback. You're just.
- 1:17:53Count on adding more hardware to the shelf.
- 1:17:55Like it's well, that's why I didn't feel all that great about
- 1:17:58the Acuna pick. Like, OK, he goes out and has a
- 1:18:01pedestrian season. Here you go.
- 1:18:03Yeah. What's the, what's that award
- 1:18:06comparison, by the way? Comeback Player of the Year?
- 1:18:08What? Do you mean?
- 1:18:11What? What's the comparison to that
- 1:18:12award? Oh, like the coupon you mean?
- 1:18:16Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like if you are, you're saying
- 1:18:20if you finish like third. Yeah.
- 1:18:26No, they give you an unpaid parking ticket that you are now
- 1:18:31responsible for paying. I don't know.
- 1:18:33I don't know. It's like, hey.
- 1:18:36It's like you get an extra snack on the airplane, like hey, put
- 1:18:42an extra peanut bag. No.
- 1:18:44Well, they go down the aisle and usually it's like you get the
- 1:18:47pretzels or the Biscoff cookies. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:50Ronald Cunha, Junior You're getting both, buddy.
- 1:18:54You're getting both. Shout out those.
- 1:18:55Biscoff cookies by the way, those are full way go.
- 1:18:58Those slap lastly here real quick.
- 1:19:05Let me find it down here at the bottom of my my sheet.
- 1:19:11Just couple items here real quick.
- 1:19:13The aforementioned I think we mentioned it like right right
- 1:19:18out of the gate little little slight towards Emmanuel Class A
- 1:19:22and Luis Ortiz, but they have been charged with bribery and
- 1:19:27gambling related crimes. You know, this has been a story
- 1:19:30that's been going on for some time now, but I think, I think
- 1:19:33the latest update is that they they met Class A at JFK today.
- 1:19:38Where he was, I saw. That he was, he was rained, I
- 1:19:43believe so, yeah, man, this, this whole thing is a mess.
- 1:19:50I I stand by my take that I think sports betting has just
- 1:19:53ruined baseball. And I know that it's not new.
- 1:19:56Like this obviously has been a an issue for decades.
- 1:20:03But it's, it's, I just feel like it's such an epidemic now where
- 1:20:08you have ESPN removing ads for their betting platform, which I
- 1:20:16think is going under, if I'm not, if I'm not mistaken, right,
- 1:20:19like or they get bought out or, or something.
- 1:20:22But like on live television, they're talking about this the
- 1:20:27the get the betting scandal in the NBA and they it just
- 1:20:31disappears. So awkward, just uncomfortable
- 1:20:35for everybody. It was clear what they're doing,
- 1:20:37but it's just like, this is what's happening.
- 1:20:39And then you've got you've got Manfred stepping in and and
- 1:20:43taking action with like, hey, we're putting a cap on.
- 1:20:47What was it just like the like $200 for Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:54For a certain leg, it's no. Longer going to be parlay
- 1:20:57eligible I. Think right, Yeah.
- 1:20:59So it's, you know, it's it's just a nightmare, man.
- 1:21:03You like all these ballparks are sponsored by I don't think.
- 1:21:07It's ruined baseball. I think it's ruined the NFLI
- 1:21:10think it's absolutely ruined the NFL.
- 1:21:12I'm, I'm kind of starting to be on board with the, with the
- 1:21:15conspiracy of the NFL, cause the NFL is technically like.
- 1:21:20Entertainment industry, yeah. Yeah, so it's like legally we
- 1:21:26can rig this thing and it's so much easier to rig baseball.
- 1:21:30I just, I feel like it's just, I don't know, I.
- 1:21:32Can't, no and and I let me hear. What you're saying though, but
- 1:21:36it's like, let's dance this around all of our players and
- 1:21:40say this is how we make so much money and this is how we
- 1:21:44advertise. And this is we're pouring this
- 1:21:47on and everywhere you go, everywhere you look, but you,
- 1:21:51you can't touch it. And how dare you, if you even
- 1:21:55think of it. Yeah, well, I, I should
- 1:21:58rephrase. It's less about, I mean, it's
- 1:21:59going to be part of the game. Like guys are just going to try
- 1:22:02to find ways around it. They're going to get caught up
- 1:22:03with the wrong people. They're going to be having to
- 1:22:06make decisions they probably wouldn't want to make otherwise.
- 1:22:08But this just doesn't make sense.
- 1:22:09It's it's less about that, more about the fan experience.
- 1:22:12Like I, I just like people sports in general.
- 1:22:15People are just watching sports now just to see if their parlay
- 1:22:19pays out. And it's like just be a fan of a
- 1:22:22sport, be a fan of a team, be a fan of a player and and not and,
- 1:22:28and try not to get yourself in such a predicament with your
- 1:22:32personal finances and sports that you feel the need to harass
- 1:22:38a professional athlete online afterwards like that.
- 1:22:42It's such a problem. It is such a problem, but that's
- 1:22:46not necessarily what's happening here.
- 1:22:48This is just couple boneheads just being boneheads all for
- 1:22:53like $5000 when you're. Dude did you when your grand
- 1:22:57meme were like the guys like walking with this girl?
- 1:22:59Girlfriend is looking back. It's like 16,000,000 and then.
- 1:23:03It's 20. I think it was like, well, his
- 1:23:05contract I think was 20 mil and it was like he's looking back at
- 1:23:08like $5000 like I'm coming for you, which makes you wonder like
- 1:23:14is there there's may have been something shady going on.
- 1:23:17Yeah, like you, there's just no way I.
- 1:23:20Don't know, like I don't want to, I don't want to go there,
- 1:23:24but like I, it's, it's hard to say with like some of these
- 1:23:27countries, like there's, there's a lot of like strange, sketchy
- 1:23:32stuff like we, we've heard about, you know, players, I
- 1:23:37mean, players, family members being kidnapped or, you know,
- 1:23:41like just strange things like that.
- 1:23:43I mean, didn't Cal Ripken? Didn't his grandma?
- 1:23:49Get those moms got. Kidnapped.
- 1:23:51Yeah. So it's like it makes you wonder
- 1:23:54if there's something in there for like he had.
- 1:23:57They had. I don't think it was about Class
- 1:24:01A getting like extra dough on the side.
- 1:24:04It's just I think there had to have been something else.
- 1:24:07I don't think it helps his case. I don't think it gives him an
- 1:24:10excuse, but like, I'm curious to see what comes out of this.
- 1:24:14I don't know. It's we've opened a can of worms
- 1:24:19that the the lid cannot be put back on and it's self induced in
- 1:24:25a way so sucks. The the craziest thing.
- 1:24:30Well, not maybe not the craziest, but one of the one of
- 1:24:32the more fascinating elements to this whole thing is the the note
- 1:24:39that apparently surfaced from all this talking about how he
- 1:24:43Class A apparently called the better like minutes before
- 1:24:48taking the mound against the Red Sox.
- 1:24:50And the guy that he was on the phone with apparently like he,
- 1:24:53he Class A did what he needed to do.
- 1:24:56And I think it was related to pitch speed and he won the
- 1:24:58better that he called won like $11,000.
- 1:25:03You're on the phone with this guy minutes before you take them
- 1:25:06out. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 1:25:07I think I saw that one of the betters was like 8 for 9 on
- 1:25:12those specific pitches. Just nuts, man.
- 1:25:19It it's very interesting that like this happened and has come
- 1:25:24out. I know this came out first, but
- 1:25:26like the stuff with the NBA and like that was like a long time
- 1:25:30ongoing investigation. So it's just very strange with
- 1:25:37all this. And then the NFL sends out like
- 1:25:39a, a memo saying like, just a reminder.
- 1:25:45I think it's all over the place. I think it's everywhere.
- 1:25:49I It's unfortunate. Didn't they say they were
- 1:25:54they're, they could potentially serve like 60 or 80 years in
- 1:26:00prison or something for this? It was some crazy number.
- 1:26:07Yeah. It was at least 60 I think.
- 1:26:10Insane. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:26:14It couldn't have been worth it. Like there had to have been
- 1:26:16something else. No, and like everybody's been
- 1:26:19saying about this whole scandal, all this stuff is so easily
- 1:26:21trackable. Like especially with these apps
- 1:26:24and these sports books and whatever, like it's it's there's
- 1:26:27no way they thought they could get away with this.
- 1:26:30Any who's Speaking of thinking you could get away with
- 1:26:35something? This whole Paul Skeens Yankee,
- 1:26:38the Yankee comments. What was that?
- 1:26:45I don't know who's his teammate or I.
- 1:26:48Don't know. He played off.
- 1:26:50He's like, I don't know who the reporter was.
- 1:26:52I don't know who the the teammate that's being referenced
- 1:26:55was. But apparently if you don't know
- 1:26:58what we're talking about, there was a report that came out that
- 1:26:59said Paul Skeen said that he wants to be traded, wants to
- 1:27:02play for the Yankees. The quote was from
- 1:27:07endnewjersey.com. Quote was from an anonymous
- 1:27:13Pirates teammate. Trust me, he, Paul Skeens, wants
- 1:27:18to play for the Yankees. I've heard him say it multiple
- 1:27:20times. And then to which Paul Skeens
- 1:27:23said, I'm on the Pirates. My goal is to win with the
- 1:27:26Pirates. The fans are hungry to have a
- 1:27:28winner in Pittsburgh and I want to be a part of the group that
- 1:27:31did that. He never denied it.
- 1:27:36Well, no, he did say. He did say I I don't know.
- 1:27:40I don't know who or, he said. I don't know what teammate that
- 1:27:44was, which even by saying that you're not like you are, that's
- 1:27:49fair. That's OK.
- 1:27:51That's. Following this line very well.
- 1:27:55It's very disheartening, though. I'm like, Paul, come on.
- 1:27:57If you said you wanted to pitch for like even the Dodgers, but
- 1:28:01like the come on, man, the Yankees, you're too likable of a
- 1:28:05guy. It'd be nice.
- 1:28:07It would be nice. I don't know it.
- 1:28:10I don't know. I mean, I, I was, I would have
- 1:28:13bet my house that I didn't have a house back then.
- 1:28:16But I would have bet it if if we could go back in time and say,
- 1:28:21hey, Bryce Harper is going to be a Yankee.
- 1:28:23Like I thought it was a slam dunk.
- 1:28:26No way he would go anywhere else.
- 1:28:29And the guy didn't even get an offer or a call.
- 1:28:32So, like, I don't know who runs the show in New York anymore.
- 1:28:35I don't know it. I doubt it.
- 1:28:37I doubt Paul Skeens will be a Yankee.
- 1:28:38There you go. I'll believe it when I see it.
- 1:28:41And even then, I'm going to have to wait for the press conference
- 1:28:44where he's actually putting on the jersey.
- 1:28:48I can't wait to see him in in a Boston Red Sox uniform.
- 1:28:51Had to be a beautiful day. Imagine.
- 1:28:54And I'm not even equating these two because that one never
- 1:28:56happened. One's one's on a completely in a
- 1:28:59completely different stratosphere.
- 1:29:01But imagine Friday night in the Bronx a Paul Skeens LED Boston
- 1:29:11Red Sox team going up against the Yankees and Cam Schlittler
- 1:29:15yapping. I don't.
- 1:29:17Think I don't think we can continue to just disrespect our
- 1:29:20Cam I'm. Going to go ahead and
- 1:29:22disrespect, full disrespect, full, full, intended and
- 1:29:28deserved disrespect. But that's that's a conversation
- 1:29:31for another day that about does it.
- 1:29:34We went a little deep, but there's a lot to cover putting a
- 1:29:36bow on the 2025 season, recapping some awards, some
- 1:29:40standings and and some takes. So we'll, we'll catch you guys
- 1:29:51some changes coming down the coming down the pipe.
- 1:29:54Nate and I have been working on slash brainstorming some some
- 1:29:59new ideas, some new structures for this show.
- 1:30:02Things are things are going to be changing.
- 1:30:05So keep an eye out for that. Keep your keep your ear to the
- 1:30:07ground as they say, and buckle up because it's going to be.
- 1:30:13We always say the offseason is where we get weird is where we
- 1:30:16get even. You know, most of you, I
- 1:30:19hopefully, hopefully would say that you, you, you think we're
- 1:30:23fun, but the offseason twice as fun.
- 1:30:27It gets weird, it gets laid back.
- 1:30:30We we do games, we do drafts, but we're even beyond that.
- 1:30:34We're going to be making some tweaks, some changes to how we
- 1:30:37do things around here. So keep an eye out for that.
- 1:30:40But otherwise. See us next week talk about
- 1:30:49Jason Garibalds. We love you all and as always,
- 1:30:51looking forward to talking more baseball with you guys soon.
- 1:30:53Until next time, stay filthy.
