- 0:07Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Schrager is a production of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. What's up, everybody, We are here.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I feel like we've been walking in the desert for months.
- 0:30Speaker 1: We've been doing episodes from the Combine, We've been doing
- 0:35Speaker 1: episodes from the draft, and then there was that long
- 0:39Speaker 1: summer of just projections and hypotheticals and contract holdouts and
- 0:46Speaker 1: long explainers on the Dynamic Kickoff. There's been long explainers
- 0:51Speaker 1: on Hassan Reddick. We're here. Football is here. I'm sorry
- 1:00Speaker 1: if I didn't spend three weeks doing fantasy football prep
- 1:03Speaker 1: with you guys. I know that probably didn't help the listenership.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I know I could have had you know, Matthew Berry
- 1:10Speaker 1: or the underdog Fantasy guys on or someone, and we
- 1:14Speaker 1: could have pumped up the numbers. But I wasn't gonna
- 1:16Speaker 1: do you like that. You go elsewhere for that. You
- 1:18Speaker 1: find your fancy Fault podcast. If you're listening to this podcast,
- 1:22Speaker 1: it's for hardcore football, it's for analysiss for some of
- 1:25Speaker 1: the best guests, and it's for my man, Aaron wang Kaufman. Aaron,
- 1:31Speaker 1: we're here. It's football season, and it is as we
- 1:35Speaker 1: record this on a Tuesday. We are now forty eight
- 1:38Speaker 1: hours away. Are you excited or are you nervous and dreading?
- 1:42Speaker 1: As a Bills fan, I can imagine this is an
- 1:44Speaker 1: interesting time considering the offseason you guys had.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I mean I'm a little bit of both, partly because
- 1:49Speaker 2: later this evening, late this evening, I have my New
- 1:52Speaker 2: York City Fantasy League draft. Okay, so I haven't gotten
- 1:56Speaker 2: any any sleepers from.
- 1:59Speaker 1: A sleeper Shakir. I like him this year.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I mean, as a as a Bills fan, It's not
- 2:04Speaker 2: asleep because I've been all in on Sheer. No, I'm stoked.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I can't wait. I I'm really excited. I mean, just
- 2:12Speaker 2: from the Bill's perspective, playing against the Cardinals, who have
- 2:15Speaker 2: Marvin Harrison Junior, getting to see Trey McBride some more.
- 2:19Speaker 2: It's an exciting first week. I think there are a
- 2:21Speaker 2: lot of really exciting first games.
- 2:23Speaker 1: That first game is a trap game written all over it, Dude,
- 2:26Speaker 1: in Buffalo, right Arizona. Arizona comes in everyone expecting Buffalo
- 2:31Speaker 1: to have an easy like that one's got trap game
- 2:33Speaker 1: written all over it. I hope they're not gonna take
- 2:36Speaker 1: that one for granted. That. By the way, those those
- 2:38Speaker 1: two teams. One of my favorite games in recent memory
- 2:41Speaker 1: was the Hail Murray Hail Murray. Those two teams went
- 2:44Speaker 1: at it, no doubt, I think that's cool, but.
- 2:46Speaker 2: One of my least favorite games. Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Whatever, the Bills figured it out that year. They were fine.
- 2:51Speaker 1: You guys went pretty far that season. All right. I'll
- 2:55Speaker 1: tell you one thing that was funny. You like this
- 2:57Speaker 1: and I can't out who it was and whatever. One
- 3:01Speaker 1: thing that I find it's very personal to me. Once
- 3:04Speaker 1: a year, I'll hear from people and it's like, yeah, bro,
- 3:06Speaker 1: I got my fantasy draft tonight, Like, give me some sleepers.
- 3:08Speaker 1: You okay, that's my response, bleep it if you have
- 3:12Speaker 1: to aaron you like I I hear you from you
- 3:15Speaker 1: once a year, dude, Like my fantasy draft tonight, got
- 3:17Speaker 1: any sleepers? Like there's nothing more insulting this, Like, no,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I don't and don't text me the day of your draft.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Do I have to know what? Do I what I
- 3:26Speaker 1: look like? No, so one guy did it and I
- 3:29Speaker 1: don't even know this guy. Well, like it's one of
- 3:30Speaker 1: those guys who like got my memories and he wasn't
- 3:32Speaker 1: even friendly in the text. He was like, got any
- 3:34Speaker 1: sleepers for my fantasy draft, and I wrote back draft
- 3:37Speaker 1: bo Williams late, no such player, no such player as
- 3:41Speaker 1: Bo Williams. I don't know anyone. And he didn't respond,
- 3:45Speaker 1: and then he wrote back thumbs up. So I don't
- 3:47Speaker 1: know if he took bo Williams. But that was my
- 3:52Speaker 1: favorite thing I did this week. So yeah, that was
- 3:54Speaker 1: that was good. That was a win. Some people just
- 3:56Speaker 1: didn't respond to And if you listen to the podcast,
- 3:58Speaker 1: I apologize, like I just it just it's it's really insulting.
- 4:01Speaker 1: The only thing worse is when someone texts me and says, hey,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I'm going to Bengals Chiefs. Can I on the field?
- 4:07Speaker 1: It's like a golf like. No, I don't do like
- 4:09Speaker 1: I don't work in the ticket office. No. Anyway, that's
- 4:13Speaker 1: my airing of grievances. If I'm seeming a little bit
- 4:16Speaker 1: on edge, it's because I am, once again in one
- 4:18Speaker 1: of these sleepless weeks. I am in Los Angeles and
- 4:21Speaker 1: Good Morning Football starts at five am local. My alarm
- 4:24Speaker 1: goes off at two forty five am local. I am
- 4:26Speaker 1: blessed to do it. I get it. But when you
- 4:28Speaker 1: get to the middle of the week, and the world
- 4:31Speaker 1: just seems upside down. I don't think I have vertico,
- 4:33Speaker 1: but I might. And I also, you know, I can't
- 4:36Speaker 1: just go to sleep at three o'clock in the afternoon.
- 4:38Speaker 1: So I'm here, I'm delirious. We're recording this. I'm in LA.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Good morning. Football has been awesome this week Aaron's in
- 4:45Speaker 1: New York. I did have one cool experience, cool ass experience.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And you know, you might say you might not want
- 4:52Speaker 1: to share that with everybody. It's I met a guy.
- 4:55Speaker 1: The guy came up to me say he's a fan
- 4:57Speaker 1: of the show. His name is Kunall. Great dude. Kunall
- 5:00Speaker 1: was like, I'm living La. If you ever want to
- 5:03Speaker 1: play an amazing golf course, I'm a member at a
- 5:05Speaker 1: golf club. You're welcome to play with me. And not
- 5:08Speaker 1: a moment too soon with I said, yeah, I'm actually
- 5:10Speaker 1: coming to La Monday, Like, can I play this golf course?
- 5:13Speaker 1: I got to play bell Air on Monday, which is
- 5:16Speaker 1: one of the top courses in the entire world. I
- 5:20Speaker 1: didn't play well, but as a novice golfer, this was
- 5:23Speaker 1: like like check mark another bucket list moment. I loved it.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Kunal and two of his buddies and me. I probably
- 5:31Speaker 1: shot a one fifty horrible, but this was the coolest
- 5:35Speaker 1: course I've ever played on. Can I explain? There are
- 5:38Speaker 1: tunnels throughout this thing. There is a bridge called the
- 5:41Speaker 1: Swinging Bridge that is like a shaky bridge that connects it.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Awesome course, ton of history, many famous members. I don't
- 5:50Speaker 1: know how these country club rules work. I'm allowed to
- 5:53Speaker 1: mention the members. I don't know. But I was there
- 5:56Speaker 1: for the golf baby and it was great, and then
- 5:58Speaker 1: I had a delicious chopsalad afterwards in the clubhouse. Again
- 6:03Speaker 1: no pictures allowed and no social media, which I think
- 6:06Speaker 1: it was kind of cool. I wish the world was
- 6:08Speaker 1: more like that sometimes, so I have no picture of
- 6:11Speaker 1: me like putting in a cool shot. It also didn't happen.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I didn't make any cool putts. I played pretty terribly,
- 6:15Speaker 1: but again, very fun. The one thing was, you know,
- 6:21Speaker 1: I would have preferred probably taken a cart. I walked
- 6:24Speaker 1: the whole thing. It's a ton of hills and I
- 6:25Speaker 1: didn't bring my golf shoes our golf club. So couonall
- 6:28Speaker 1: great dude, couonall hooks me up and it's like I
- 6:31Speaker 1: got you same size shoe you'll wear mine. I was
- 6:34Speaker 1: in so much pain. I walked twenty six thousand steps yesterday.
- 6:39Speaker 1: It seems like a lot, right, it seems like a lot.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's that's maybe. Uh. I don't know
- 6:46Speaker 2: how many miles. About twelve miles.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Is that right? I walked twelve miles. Yeah, that's a lot.
- 6:52Speaker 1: That's a lot of walking. Yeah. It's good. Yeah, and
- 6:56Speaker 1: it was fun. But like I'm toast today, we did
- 6:59Speaker 1: the show Good Morning Football. Was great, and then I
- 7:03Speaker 1: did Chris Russo Mad Dog Radio. I did a spot
- 7:07Speaker 1: with him I'm gona be doing on Tuesdays and that
- 7:08Speaker 1: was an absolute blast. Remember we had him on our
- 7:10Speaker 1: podcast back at.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Super Bowl Yeah, super Bowl.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Yeah. So it's been really cool. It's been a busy
- 7:16Speaker 1: time and it all leads up to a wild NFL
- 7:19Speaker 1: schedule of Thursday night Chiefs Ravens on NBC with our
- 7:23Speaker 1: boy tar Rico and our guy Collinsworth. Friday on Peacock
- 7:29Speaker 1: out of South Paulo, Brazil, Eagles, Packers, Friday night game,
- 7:35Speaker 1: Sunday full Slate Sunday Night Rams Lions awesome matchup in Detroit,
- 7:42Speaker 1: and then Monday night you have a doubleheader on Monday
- 7:46Speaker 1: Night Football or no you have one. I'm sorry. It's
- 7:48Speaker 1: just Niners versus Jets with Troy and Joe on the
- 7:51Speaker 1: call and the return of Aaron Rodgers. But if you're
- 7:53Speaker 1: listening to this podcast, you know I'm mister Crystal Ball
- 7:58Speaker 1: and I like to give you some predictions. I want
- 8:00Speaker 1: Aaron to participate and did it as well. What we're
- 8:03Speaker 1: gonna do is we're gonna go through our season long addictions,
- 8:07Speaker 1: not our Bowl takes, not our hot takes, not our
- 8:09Speaker 1: fantasy football wide receiver sevens that you have to draft,
- 8:13Speaker 1: no information on Bo Williams, not a real player, although
- 8:16Speaker 1: I hope he's on at least one fantasy team somewhere.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And what we're gonna do is we're gonna give him
- 8:23Speaker 1: on this podcast, but then on Thursday after I announce
- 8:27Speaker 1: it on Good Morning Football. And I understand that everyone's
- 8:29Speaker 1: watching Good Morning Football on Thursday. Some of you work
- 8:33Speaker 1: and you can't be in front of a television, which
- 8:34Speaker 1: is respectable. I appreciate employment in this world. I'm gonna
- 8:39Speaker 1: do a little separate pod and I'll talk about my
- 8:41Speaker 1: Super Bowl pick, which as we know, has taken on
- 8:44Speaker 1: a life of its own and there's great pressure behind
- 8:46Speaker 1: it before I even get to the super Bowl. Pick Aaron.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I have two like alternate approaches to this, one of
- 8:52Speaker 1: them being this crazy off the waw off like the like,
- 8:58Speaker 1: I have two teams I really like that are not
- 9:01Speaker 1: everybody like. I kind of want to put them in
- 9:02Speaker 1: the playoffs and just fine, and then I kind of
- 9:04Speaker 1: want to put them in the super Bowl and just
- 9:05Speaker 1: shock everyone, oh and be like drop the mic. You
- 9:08Speaker 1: want to know who knows something? I know something. I'm
- 9:10Speaker 1: a soothsayer. I get it right every year. And I'm
- 9:11Speaker 1: gonna give you these two teams. And then I've got
- 9:13Speaker 1: two picks, two safer choices still to pick the right
- 9:18Speaker 1: super Bowl. There's no Yeah, I've done it last several years,
- 9:23Speaker 1: but I've got two more safer ones. And you know,
- 9:27Speaker 1: career wise, is it better to keep this thing going
- 9:30Speaker 1: and pick maybe the more or is it better take
- 9:32Speaker 1: the big ass swing and say is it. I'm going
- 9:36Speaker 1: with this one because I just feel like this year
- 9:38Speaker 1: is going to be crazy and these two teams are
- 9:40Speaker 1: the ones I'm into. And everyone just blow their mind
- 9:43Speaker 1: and say, Shreger's crazy, but Shreker's always right. But Shreker's crazy,
- 9:46Speaker 1: but Shreker's always right. What do you think? Eron where
- 9:47Speaker 1: do I go?
- 9:49Speaker 2: I mean, I would suggest getting a good night's sleep,
- 9:52Speaker 2: maybe making the pick, not on a day that you
- 9:54Speaker 2: just walk twenty six miles yep or twenty two miles
- 9:57Speaker 2: whatever it was yep, Because yeah, I think it's cool
- 10:02Speaker 2: to make an exciting choice, but you are You're known
- 10:07Speaker 2: for making the right one, so I know, you know,
- 10:09Speaker 2: I think I think it's if you believe that these
- 10:12Speaker 2: two outlandish choices actually could be correct, and like there's
- 10:16Speaker 2: a good chance. Yeah, I mean that could go for it.
- 10:19Speaker 1: But okay, so I'm going to think about you, right,
- 10:20Speaker 1: take a good night's rest. It's like I'm in one
- 10:23Speaker 1: of these hotels that's on the highway, uh and as
- 10:27Speaker 1: glam as glamorous as that sounds like, I go Table
- 10:32Speaker 1: for One for dinner at four thirty when I'm in
- 10:34Speaker 1: LA because I got to get to sleep somehow and
- 10:36Speaker 1: it's bright out and it's like I tonight, I'm planning
- 10:40Speaker 1: on walking across the street to a chain restaurant that
- 10:44Speaker 1: I will not mention that we all know and love
- 10:46Speaker 1: Table for one and like seriously sitting down and writing
- 10:49Speaker 1: with a pendon pad table for one sat as it
- 10:51Speaker 1: could be, and like pros and cons of like which
- 10:55Speaker 1: way to go of going big swing and you know,
- 10:58Speaker 1: trying to make headlines but also believing in both these teams,
- 11:02Speaker 1: or let's try to get this thing right and knowing
- 11:04Speaker 1: that there's a far greater chance that these two other
- 11:07Speaker 1: teams are gonna make it. We'll see, you know. Uh,
- 11:09Speaker 1: fortune favors the bold, but fortune also favors getting things
- 11:13Speaker 1: right five years in a row. Whatever else. All right,
- 11:22Speaker 1: let's do some awards, let's let's do some let's do
- 11:25Speaker 1: some suits saying let's do some predictions. Aaron, here's how
- 11:29Speaker 1: we're gonna do it. I'm gonna set this up and
- 11:30Speaker 1: I will break the fourth wall. I was debating do
- 11:33Speaker 1: we want to bring on a guest this week? And
- 11:35Speaker 1: like preview the season, I was thinking, do I want
- 11:38Speaker 1: to bring on a coach? Because I could have gotten
- 11:39Speaker 1: a bunch of coaches this week because it's early in
- 11:41Speaker 1: the week and they don't play all Sunday, and like
- 11:43Speaker 1: we could have done the big you know, deep dive
- 11:45Speaker 1: on you know, Brian Callahan or Zach Taylor and really
- 11:49Speaker 1: gotten to it. But then I'm like that's so focused
- 11:51Speaker 1: on one team usually when we have on those guests, Like,
- 11:54Speaker 1: I don't think we're looking to do that. Instead, let's
- 11:57Speaker 1: go big picture, let's go predictions, and let's you and
- 12:00Speaker 1: me do it. I think it's enough of a cool
- 12:02Speaker 1: episode where it's Aaron and Peter Peter and Aaron's predictions
- 12:05Speaker 1: and I don't know what you've got up your sleeve.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I know you've spent all day to day going through
- 12:10Speaker 1: these things, and I've been doing the work myself over
- 12:14Speaker 1: the last several weeks. Let's start off with my offensive
- 12:19Speaker 1: rookie of the year. I just got done spending the
- 12:23Speaker 1: entire summer on the phones with all of these coaches,
- 12:26Speaker 1: and I've been so dialed in on a lot of
- 12:29Speaker 1: the rookie performances that I think this might be one
- 12:32Speaker 1: of those rare, really good rookie classes. That's not a shocker,
- 12:35Speaker 1: but I'm talking like one that was as good as
- 12:38Speaker 1: like that class that had Herbert and two and Jefferson
- 12:43Speaker 1: and Cede Lamb. Like, I think we're looking at one
- 12:45Speaker 1: of those psycho classes. Yeah, forgot Burrow. He was the
- 12:49Speaker 1: first pick in that draft. It's been a while, though,
- 12:52Speaker 1: like we've had a bunch of drafts with a bunch
- 12:53Speaker 1: of quarterback whiffs. I don't think we're gonna get it.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I think three quarterbacks in particular are going to be
- 12:58Speaker 1: very good this year. I think Caleb's going to be good.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I think Nicks is going to be good, and I
- 13:01Speaker 1: think Jayden Daniel is going to be good. But I
- 13:03Speaker 1: think one of them is going to be the better
- 13:04Speaker 1: one of all of them. And that's my breakout player
- 13:06Speaker 1: of the year. It's a guy, no secret I've fallen
- 13:08Speaker 1: in love with. He's got crazy joints that he can
- 13:10Speaker 1: do these wild dances with his elbows. I'm talking about
- 13:13Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels and Washington. That's my offensive rookie of the year.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I think he's gonna uplift everybody in that market. And
- 13:20Speaker 1: what's gonna be an interesting thing. There's gonna be a
- 13:23Speaker 1: duality going on. You're gonna have this great story of
- 13:25Speaker 1: the Commanders being a surprise team in the NFC, and
- 13:28Speaker 1: I don't know if they go to the playoffs, but
- 13:29Speaker 1: they're gonna be good this year. I think they're gonna
- 13:31Speaker 1: be better and Daniels is gonna wow you every weekend, and
- 13:34Speaker 1: then you're gonna have this bat crazy election going on
- 13:37Speaker 1: at the same time in DC. So you've got great
- 13:40Speaker 1: football story and likely wild election season going on, and
- 13:44Speaker 1: it's all gonna be going on in the Beltway. I
- 13:46Speaker 1: think Daniels might steal some headlines from both presidential candidates
- 13:51Speaker 1: and their vice presidents. I think it's gonna be the
- 13:54Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels show in DC. And we've been through this.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Robert Griffin. That rookie year was a sensation and it
- 14:00Speaker 1: was a blast to watch, and it was such a
- 14:01Speaker 1: thrill and we know how it all went down afterwards.
- 14:04Speaker 1: But that first year, right out of the gates New Orleans,
- 14:07Speaker 1: he throws the touchdown, he's on his back, he does
- 14:08Speaker 1: that whole thing. I think Jayden Daniel is gonna be
- 14:11Speaker 1: something similar in his first year. And I think in
- 14:13Speaker 1: his first game he might come out of the out
- 14:16Speaker 1: of the gates just firing away and making things happen.
- 14:18Speaker 1: So I'm gonna go Jaden Daniels as my offensive rookie
- 14:22Speaker 1: of the Year. Aaron, you're on the clock, who do
- 14:25Speaker 1: you say?
- 14:25Speaker 2: I'm gonna go a little more chalk. I think I'm
- 14:27Speaker 2: gonna go with Caleb because I think he has There's
- 14:32Speaker 2: been plenty of narrative already about he has such an
- 14:35Speaker 2: incredible setup on the offensive side. He's got all these
- 14:38Speaker 2: weapons to play with. Dj Moore, Keenan Allen, who you
- 14:42Speaker 2: know used to be We mentioned him earlier justin Herbert's
- 14:45Speaker 2: safety blanket, and now Caleb has him. And I just
- 14:49Speaker 2: think the connection between Caleb and Rome. I think we're
- 14:52Speaker 2: gonna be talking about it a lot as the year progresses,
- 14:55Speaker 2: and I I just can't wait for Caleb to get
- 14:59Speaker 2: a couple short passes in and then take a long
- 15:02Speaker 2: bomb down to Rome on the sideline and like just
- 15:04Speaker 2: some highlight plays. So I I think Caleb is my
- 15:08Speaker 2: choice for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I love it all right, Defensive Rookie of the Year,
- 15:11Speaker 1: not as not as glamorous of a gig. I couldn't
- 15:16Speaker 1: tell you offhand, and maybe you can google it for me.
- 15:19Speaker 1: My brain is fried who won it last year? I
- 15:21Speaker 1: don't know. I feel like it's probably a household name,
- 15:25Speaker 1: but you know, as you google, it was it ya
- 15:28Speaker 1: ya d Yabi? Was it Brian was young?
- 15:30Speaker 2: It was with Houston's Will Anderson.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Yeah, solid, Like no one's got Will Anderson winning Defensive
- 15:36Speaker 1: Player of the Year This year. It's not like he was.
- 15:38Speaker 1: It's really hard as a rookie to like be a
- 15:40Speaker 1: huge breakout player on defense. I think Chase Young was
- 15:43Speaker 1: a few years ago. Michael Parsons was, But like offensive
- 15:46Speaker 1: is like every kid's buying your jersey. Defensive, it's like,
- 15:48Speaker 1: all right, that was a good start to your career.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It's really hard to dominate. Year one. My defensive rookie
- 15:54Speaker 1: of the year. I go to the La Rams. I
- 15:55Speaker 1: go Jared Verse, the pass rusher out of Florida State.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Cool story with him. Started off at Albany as a
- 16:02Speaker 1: Great Dane his first two years at the University of Albany,
- 16:05Speaker 1: transfer to Florida State, had an awesome career. Two time
- 16:09Speaker 1: All American, two time All acc goes without saying, and
- 16:13Speaker 1: he was the nineteenth overall pick and was outstanding during
- 16:17Speaker 1: the summer workouts and I was at practice for the Rams.
- 16:20Speaker 1: He's flying all over the field. Interesting draft in that
- 16:24Speaker 1: the first fifteen players, I want to say, maybe the
- 16:27Speaker 1: first fourteen players were all offensive players. So this isn't
- 16:31Speaker 1: a big defensive rookie class. As far as household names go.
- 16:34Speaker 1: There are guys which makes it wide open for defensive
- 16:37Speaker 1: Rookie of the Year and Aaron. If I'm going Jared Verse,
- 16:39Speaker 1: who are you going? That's yours?
- 16:42Speaker 2: So I'm going with Terry and Arnold. Okay, cornerback for
- 16:45Speaker 2: the Detroit Lions. I think that that is a position
- 16:48Speaker 2: that they really blatantly needed, and I think if he
- 16:52Speaker 2: can step it up and that defense plays well, there
- 16:54Speaker 2: will be such a great narrative for him. Because everyone
- 16:59Speaker 2: is so hyped about the Lions already that if they
- 17:01Speaker 2: can clean up some of their weaknesses from last year,
- 17:04Speaker 2: I think it will really stand out. I I do
- 17:08Speaker 2: really like Jared Verse. I'm a little worried that he's
- 17:10Speaker 2: going to get compared to Aaron.
- 17:12Speaker 3: He's outside, He's outside. It's totally I know, I know,
- 17:15Speaker 3: but they're losing. They lost the chat. The specter of
- 17:19Speaker 3: Aaron Donald hangs over that defense. Fair I almost picked
- 17:24Speaker 3: Quinny on Mitchell, so I don't know. If maybe I'm
- 17:26Speaker 3: just a cornerback guy. I do think that he also
- 17:30Speaker 3: could do really well. But I think there's a lot
- 17:33Speaker 3: more we're concerned about on the offensive side for the Eagles,
- 17:35Speaker 3: whereas like with the Lions, we kind of know what
- 17:38Speaker 3: that offense is and I think we're going to be
- 17:40Speaker 3: really excited about they that's the most good.
- 17:43Speaker 1: All right. So we've got our offensive rookie of the year,
- 17:45Speaker 1: our defensive rookie of the year. The next will be the
- 17:48Speaker 1: defensive player of the year. Last year it was Miles Garrett.
- 17:52Speaker 1: He had an outstanding season. Many thought it should have
- 17:54Speaker 1: been t J. Watt. Others said it should have been
- 17:56Speaker 1: Michael Parsons. There are so many good defensive players in
- 18:00Speaker 1: this league, So where are we going to go for
- 18:03Speaker 1: defensive player of the year. I'm going to go with
- 18:07Speaker 1: a long shot. Sometimes you have to swing big and
- 18:10Speaker 1: a guy who's just physically gifted in a way that
- 18:13Speaker 1: few guys are, and someone who I think is gonna
- 18:16Speaker 1: put up huge sack numbers this year as he's finally
- 18:18Speaker 1: fully healthy. My defensive player of the year pick, I'm
- 18:21Speaker 1: going to Green Bay. I'm going with Rashan Gary as
- 18:26Speaker 1: my defensive player of the year. A sack machine and
- 18:32Speaker 1: a guy who's finally gonna put it all together. He
- 18:35Speaker 1: was one of Matt Lafleur's first ever draft picks. And
- 18:38Speaker 1: I think Rashawon Gary, who I don't see listen in
- 18:40Speaker 1: the top twenty names on these lists, is going to
- 18:43Speaker 1: win Defensive Player of the Year. That is my pick. Ooh.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I like that. That's another team where I feel like
- 18:49Speaker 2: everyone is in love with Jordan Love and the offense
- 18:52Speaker 2: and bringing up a defensive guy like that is great.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I'm very into.
- 18:56Speaker 1: That, Okay. So that tells you how I feel about
- 18:59Speaker 1: the Packers this year. If I'm thinking Rashawn Gary would
- 19:01Speaker 1: be Defensive Player of the Year, that was way off
- 19:04Speaker 1: the board. Sometimes you got to do that who you taking.
- 19:08Speaker 2: So I was tempted by Miles Garrett again yep, and
- 19:11Speaker 2: also TJ Watt. I think that you know, those two
- 19:14Speaker 2: are are gonna be on this list of potential defensive
- 19:17Speaker 2: Player of the Years for years to come. And I
- 19:19Speaker 2: think the other guy on that list is Michael Parsons.
- 19:22Speaker 2: And I think this year I'm gonna go with Michael Parsons.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I think we have a lot of discussion about DAK
- 19:31Speaker 2: and CD just signed. Finally, what's gonna happen with Dak's contract?
- 19:35Speaker 2: And I think Michael Parsons is gonna come out and
- 19:37Speaker 2: he's gonna remind everyone that there's another side of that
- 19:40Speaker 2: team and they are very very good.
- 19:43Speaker 1: MICHAEH. Parsons is like also in that contract like negotiation thing,
- 19:47Speaker 1: and you've got this situation where it's like CD got his,
- 19:51Speaker 1: DAK got his. Is Mike gonna play with his, you know,
- 19:54Speaker 1: with his ass on fire? He might like he might,
- 19:57Speaker 1: he might just be completely on him. But I thought
- 19:59Speaker 1: last year he kind of got lost a little bit
- 20:01Speaker 1: in the TJ. Watt Miles Garrett discussion. Was kind of
- 20:05Speaker 1: considered a third guy, and you know, I wonder if
- 20:07Speaker 1: that motivates him as well.
- 20:09Speaker 2: All right, who do you have for your Offensive Player
- 20:12Speaker 2: of the Year.
- 20:12Speaker 1: That's such a silly Yeah, I'm gonna say Bjeon Robinson
- 20:16Speaker 1: his mind. But like, I don't even care about this award.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I don't care, Like I think this award is dumb.
- 20:21Speaker 1: You've got your MVP, and then you know the MVP
- 20:24Speaker 1: is not going to be defensive player. Lawrence Taylor was
- 20:26Speaker 1: the last one to actually like win MVP and that
- 20:29Speaker 1: was in eighty six. And then you have your defensive player.
- 20:31Speaker 1: But like, here's the MVP, and then you have your
- 20:33Speaker 1: offensive player, which is basically like everyone the second place,
- 20:37Speaker 1: but like not a quarterback. And then some years they
- 20:39Speaker 1: give it to quarterback. So I'm gonna say this is
- 20:42Speaker 1: a dumb award. They should do away with it, or
- 20:44Speaker 1: they should call it non quarterback best non Quarterback. And
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna go be Jeon Robinson, who I've already told
- 20:51Speaker 1: you I think is going to like tear up the
- 20:52Speaker 1: league this year.
- 20:53Speaker 2: I love Bijon. He's one of my favorite players. I
- 20:56Speaker 2: love him in interviews. I love watching him run the
- 20:59Speaker 2: I think I even mentioned this last time when you
- 21:01Speaker 2: brought him up the skycam.
- 21:02Speaker 1: We get to watch him the catch.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yeah, oh my god, amazing. I'll just really quickly. I'm
- 21:10Speaker 2: gonna go with a guy I just mentioned. I'm gonna
- 21:12Speaker 2: go with Ceedee Lamb. I think, Okay, the Cowboys. I
- 21:15Speaker 2: think he especially in a time when the other kind
- 21:19Speaker 2: of premiere wide receivers. You got Jefferson, who's going to
- 21:22Speaker 2: get used to Sam Darnold, and you've got Jordan Addison,
- 21:26Speaker 2: You've got t J. Hopkinson, he's got other guys flanking him,
- 21:29Speaker 2: and then you've got Jamar Chase who is not practicing yet.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Burrow is back from injury, but we'll see how long
- 21:36Speaker 2: he lasts. Higgins is going to be fighting for his contract.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I think CD is just going to go out there
- 21:41Speaker 2: and be He's it. He's that often. I love it,
- 21:43Speaker 2: so I think he's gonna step it up.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Are you at all concerned about the fact he didn't
- 21:48Speaker 1: have a proper training camp that like the first three
- 21:50Speaker 1: weeks he comes in out of shape and maybe isn't
- 21:52Speaker 1: what he was at the end of last season where
- 21:54Speaker 1: he was unstoppable.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Yes. Do I wish that Jerry Jones had just gotten
- 21:59Speaker 2: all that done right away? Seed he could have had
- 22:02Speaker 2: the training camp?
- 22:02Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, Okay, now we're getting into a different position,
- 22:15Speaker 4: which is basically an indicator of how you're feeling on
- 22:17Speaker 4: the season.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Coach of the year. My coach of the year is
- 22:22Speaker 1: Mike McDonald of the Seattle Seahawks. I think not to
- 22:26Speaker 1: be confused with Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers and
- 22:29Speaker 1: his own solo career which was so magical. What a
- 22:31Speaker 1: full believes I'm gonna say, Mike McDonald Seahawks, I've done
- 22:36Speaker 1: this spiel before. I think they've got a real different
- 22:38Speaker 1: spirit going. And Pete was great. Pete was an energy guy.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Pete was a vibes guy. Everyone love Pete. But this
- 22:42Speaker 1: is like a different deal. They bring it in a
- 22:44Speaker 1: younger guy thirty seven years old, He's got with him
- 22:46Speaker 1: an offensive coordinator from the college game and Grubs, and like,
- 22:49Speaker 1: what I love is that he comes in and he's
- 22:52Speaker 1: gonna solidify this defense in a way that he did
- 22:54Speaker 1: with the Ravens last year and he did with Michigan
- 22:56Speaker 1: two years ago. I'm already hearing great things from you know,
- 22:59Speaker 1: from camp on Kenneth Walker, but also Jackson Smith, Ninjigba,
- 23:04Speaker 1: and of course you have your usuals Lockett and Metcalf. Defensively,
- 23:09Speaker 1: they were pretty pretty down last year. That's why you
- 23:12Speaker 1: bring in a defensive coach, and that's why you give
- 23:14Speaker 1: a guy who's thirty seven years old the reins. I
- 23:16Speaker 1: think the Seattle Seahawks are my surprise team in the NFL,
- 23:19Speaker 1: and I've got Mike McDonald as my coach of the year.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I will say this though, for as good as I
- 23:25Speaker 1: have been aaron on Super Bowl picks, and I have
- 23:29Speaker 1: taken many a victory laugh. And my coach of the
- 23:33Speaker 1: year three years ago was Cliff Kingsbury, he got fired.
- 23:36Speaker 1: My coach of the year two years ago was Nathaniel Hackett,
- 23:39Speaker 1: he got fired. And last year I had Sean Payton
- 23:42Speaker 1: where his team fell apart down the stretch and they
- 23:44Speaker 1: missed the playoffs and it was a great disappointment, so
- 23:46Speaker 1: bad that you know, Russell Wilson's out of town. So
- 23:49Speaker 1: my Coach of the Year picks have not exactly been
- 23:51Speaker 1: spot on. So, Mike McDonald, as much as it might
- 23:54Speaker 1: feel good to see your name in a September Coach
- 23:56Speaker 1: of the Year pick, that means it means nothing. There's
- 24:00Speaker 1: a good chance that this actually backfires completely because I
- 24:03Speaker 1: have a horrible history and track record with finding that's
- 24:06Speaker 1: a prize team that's going to suddenly shock everybody.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Well, he is a first year coach, so maybe that
- 24:10Speaker 2: gives him a little bit of a cushion there to
- 24:13Speaker 2: protect him from any sort of you know, curse or
- 24:16Speaker 2: anything you might have going on. I also thought about
- 24:20Speaker 2: a first year coach and someone who we've talked about
- 24:23Speaker 2: a lot on the show, Rahiem Morris. Oh, but at
- 24:26Speaker 2: the end of the day, I think I'm going to
- 24:28Speaker 2: go with Dimigo Ryans, who I think the.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Tech What better could they do than last year. Last
- 24:34Speaker 1: year was the year he would have won it, and
- 24:35Speaker 1: he didn't win it. Stefanski won it.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think that the Texans still have room
- 24:41Speaker 2: to grow on defense, which is a place that he
- 24:44Speaker 2: will really make himself known. And I think that they
- 24:49Speaker 2: they've got room to grow there. So I do really
- 24:51Speaker 2: think they can continue this ascent. They're not just like
- 24:54Speaker 2: a young, little upstart team. They've got these vets are
- 24:57Speaker 2: really there to perform well for them, and I think
- 25:01Speaker 2: this year we get a continuation. He keeps that momentum
- 25:04Speaker 2: going and he gets like he gets award that's also
- 25:07Speaker 2: a little bit for last year, but also you kept
- 25:09Speaker 2: going this year. Here's the catch with.
- 25:11Speaker 1: That, And anyone who picks like Dan Campbell or on
- 25:14Speaker 1: the floor like last year was the big bump. Anything
- 25:18Speaker 1: short of like the one seed and like a dominant
- 25:20Speaker 1: season for these guys, it's hard. Usually like giving Coach
- 25:22Speaker 1: of the Year to the guys who surprise and shock
- 25:24Speaker 1: or who come out of nowhere in the first year.
- 25:26Speaker 1: So I would say, yes, he might be the best coach,
- 25:29Speaker 1: but odds are against anything short of Houston going like
- 25:32Speaker 1: fifteen to two, them suddenly giving to Miko the award.
- 25:35Speaker 2: That might give a little indication of what my future
- 25:38Speaker 2: thoughts of Houston are too.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Okay, So all right, all right, so let's get into
- 25:42Speaker 1: it now. We get into the nitty gritty. Let's get
- 25:45Speaker 1: in to our playoff teams. I'll do my AFC, you
- 25:50Speaker 1: do your AFC. I'll do my NFC, you do your NFC.
- 25:55Speaker 1: How we're gonna do it is this. We're gonna give
- 25:57Speaker 1: our four division champions in order you see them, see them. Okay, okay.
- 26:04Speaker 1: So as you know playoffs, the four division champions are
- 26:07Speaker 1: always the top four seeds, no matter what the wild
- 26:10Speaker 1: card records are, and the first team has a buy
- 26:14Speaker 1: the next three host playoff games in the wild card round,
- 26:19Speaker 1: and then we go from there, no further ado. I
- 26:23Speaker 1: kind of did this spiel on Good Morning Football. I'm
- 26:25Speaker 1: gonna do it again. I want to talk to my
- 26:26Speaker 1: boy Danny Glazer in Tribeca, my boy Eric Ziff in Tribeca,
- 26:30Speaker 1: my guys the band Chicks, one in Tribeca, one out
- 26:33Speaker 1: there in Long Island. I'll talk to my to my
- 26:36Speaker 1: friends in Freehold, New Jersey, Matthew Nay and Joshua Levin
- 26:39Speaker 1: and all these guys. And I want to talk about
- 26:41Speaker 1: all people on the street that I see, everyone who
- 26:43Speaker 1: I've come across who is a die hard fan of
- 26:46Speaker 1: the New York Jets, and I want to tell them
- 26:48Speaker 1: to take a deep breath, exhale, take out that coheba,
- 26:53Speaker 1: you know, cigar, and enjoy a dream season. It's okay
- 26:59Speaker 1: to believe in the New York Jets. I've got the
- 27:02Speaker 1: New York Jets as the number one seed in the AFC,
- 27:06Speaker 1: and I have them having a buy in the first
- 27:08Speaker 1: round of the playoffs. It's a little bit on a ledge,
- 27:12Speaker 1: you know what. The more I thought about it, I
- 27:13Speaker 1: really like this team. I really like a lot of teams,
- 27:17Speaker 1: but this one. I felt like there's something special about
- 27:21Speaker 1: how quiet they've been and how many haters there have
- 27:24Speaker 1: been this summer, Like the amount of fake Rogers BS
- 27:27Speaker 1: stories that I've seen come out that it's been like discord,
- 27:29Speaker 1: Like I don't see it, I don't hear it, and
- 27:32Speaker 1: I'm there, like I actually go to the practice and
- 27:34Speaker 1: then I actually called the games and actually talked to
- 27:37Speaker 1: the coaches, like I would think that maybe I wouldn't
- 27:40Speaker 1: publicly say like, oh, Rogers's been a real tough cookie
- 27:42Speaker 1: this year, or Rogers and Sala aren't getting along, I
- 27:45Speaker 1: wouldn't maybe necessarily come and broadcast that. But I certainly
- 27:48Speaker 1: wouldn't put my name on the Jets if I felt
- 27:50Speaker 1: that was true. So I'm going to say the Jets
- 27:53Speaker 1: are my one seed in the AFC. My two seed
- 27:57Speaker 1: are the Kansas City Chiefs. Say no more. I think
- 27:59Speaker 1: they loaded up. I think they're going to be better
- 28:02Speaker 1: than they were a last regular season when they were
- 28:03Speaker 1: a five seed. Have to win two road playoff games
- 28:05Speaker 1: to get to this. Well, three's the Ravens, all right again.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Best team in the AFC North in my eyes. They
- 28:11Speaker 1: got Derek Henry. I think there were some big losses,
- 28:13Speaker 1: including McDonald and the three offensive linemen that were all veterans.
- 28:17Speaker 1: That they're losing. Number four is a shocker. Number four,
- 28:21Speaker 1: I've got the Jacksonville Jaguars winning the AFC South. I
- 28:24Speaker 1: don't have the Texans. I want to zag a little bit.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I like the Texans, but I feel like the Jaguars
- 28:28Speaker 1: had a really down year with a lot of bad
- 28:30Speaker 1: things happen to them. But like coming into the season,
- 28:33Speaker 1: the Jags were a hot team at one point and
- 28:35Speaker 1: then it all fell apart once Trevor Lawrence's ankle went
- 28:38Speaker 1: to put I've got the Jags as my four, my
- 28:42Speaker 1: three wild cards. And as I say this, remember here
- 28:45Speaker 1: are teams we have not mentioned. The Bengals, the Browns,
- 28:48Speaker 1: the Dolphins, the Bills. We haven't mentioned the Texans. We
- 28:52Speaker 1: haven't mentioned the Broncos, haven't mentioned the Raiders, the Chargers,
- 28:55Speaker 1: the Steelers, we haven't mentioned the Patriots. Like there's here's
- 28:59Speaker 1: the beauty of this or the misery of this when
- 29:02Speaker 1: you do playoff predictions and not just ah, my super
- 29:05Speaker 1: Bowl pick this year is this. Oh, but I love
- 29:07Speaker 1: every team like you gotta put your name on it.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I said this on Chris Russo Show today, like every
- 29:12Speaker 1: show is like, here's my super Bowl pick. But for
- 29:14Speaker 1: the last three weeks they've been saying I really like
- 29:16Speaker 1: the Cardinals.
- 29:17Speaker 2: I really like it.
- 29:18Speaker 1: I actually, I actually really think that this is the
- 29:20Speaker 1: year the Falcons are a sneaky pick. We gotta put
- 29:22Speaker 1: your name on it. And when you actually name the
- 29:24Speaker 1: playoff teams, eighteen teams don't go, only fourteen go. So
- 29:29Speaker 1: as I say this, here are my three Aaron the
- 29:33Speaker 1: five seed from the great state of New York, from
- 29:38Speaker 1: the wonderful city of Buffalo. I've got the Buffalo Bills.
- 29:41Speaker 1: It's the five seed at the sixth seed in Sean Payton.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I trust he's got a full year now with his guys,
- 29:51Speaker 1: and he's already completely transformed this roster with George Peyton
- 29:55Speaker 1: his colleague. I'm going way out on a limb. I've
- 29:58Speaker 1: got the Denver Broncos as a sixth seed, meaning I've
- 30:01Speaker 1: got them winning big games, and I've got them beating
- 30:04Speaker 1: the Chiefs in some instances, in beating the Chargers and
- 30:07Speaker 1: beating the Raiders, and of course having to win big
- 30:10Speaker 1: games against opponents that are really good. And my seventh team,
- 30:14Speaker 1: with the Dolphins still on the board, and the Steelers
- 30:17Speaker 1: still on the board, and the Bengals still on the board,
- 30:19Speaker 1: and the Browns still on the board, and your Houston
- 30:23Speaker 1: Texans still on the board, I'm going with the Los
- 30:26Speaker 1: Angeles Chargers as my seventh team, and I have Texans
- 30:32Speaker 1: missing the playoffs. Sorry, I just is what it is.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Bengals missing the playoffs, Browns missing the playoffs, and maybe
- 30:40Speaker 1: the craziest of all, to the reaction that I got
- 30:42Speaker 1: when I first said this, I have the Dolphins missing
- 30:45Speaker 1: the playoffs after what was a summer's worth of just
- 30:47Speaker 1: Super Bowl hype and paying Tua and paying Tyreek and
- 30:50Speaker 1: everyone going all in on the Dolphins. I don't know.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I don't like how it ended last year, and I
- 30:54Speaker 1: know they had injuries. I just I don't feel like
- 30:57Speaker 1: what they ended on last year, that Tua was like
- 30:59Speaker 1: this guy who's gonna suddenly go into the playoffs and
- 31:01Speaker 1: win a bunch of games. I win a bunch of
- 31:03Speaker 1: games late in the season. I still don't. I have
- 31:04Speaker 1: to see it to believe it. They lost that Week
- 31:07Speaker 1: eighteen game and then they lost in the playoffs in
- 31:10Speaker 1: what was just you know, blah fashion to the Chiefs.
- 31:13Speaker 1: So those are my seven in descending order again, will
- 31:17Speaker 1: do it? Jets? Your one, Chiefs, Ravens, Jaguars, five Bills,
- 31:27Speaker 1: six Broncos, seven Chargers. Aaron wan Kaufman, your thoughts.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Big on the AFC West. I mean, I think anytime
- 31:36Speaker 2: you're looking at this, it's going to be really easy
- 31:38Speaker 2: to want to throw three teams in from a single spot.
- 31:43Speaker 2: And you know it's tough. We haven't we haven't even
- 31:47Speaker 2: mentioned the Chargers yet. And and like their entire coaching change,
- 31:52Speaker 2: oh yeah, their whole rebranding. I mean, that's that's an
- 31:55Speaker 2: exciting one. I think. You know, it's funny when I
- 31:59Speaker 2: look at your list versus my list, you are so
- 32:04Speaker 2: tuned in with coaches and with the the front office
- 32:07Speaker 2: and what you're hearing from them, Whereas to me, it's
- 32:10Speaker 2: like I consume you know, different kinds of media, and
- 32:13Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, who, who who do the Chargers have
- 32:16Speaker 2: as a weapon anymore? Like, I don't know if I
- 32:18Speaker 2: can pick them to go that high and to take
- 32:21Speaker 2: out teams that have legitimately incredible weapons on offense. So
- 32:26Speaker 2: that's the one I think is almost the spiciest. I
- 32:28Speaker 2: do think the Denver take is spicy one too.
- 32:31Speaker 1: How about Okay, let's get to yours. I always value
- 32:33Speaker 1: your opinions as well. Let's hear all right. So I
- 32:37Speaker 1: have the one seed of Kansas City. I think this
- 32:40Speaker 1: is the kind of thing until proven otherwise, I'm not
- 32:42Speaker 1: gonna not ever going to doubt Kansas City at Mahomes
- 32:46Speaker 1: and Andy Reid and the two seed I have Houston.
- 32:49Speaker 2: I do really think that there's a lot of room
- 32:51Speaker 2: for them. And I you know, I saw what Diggs
- 32:55Speaker 2: did for Bills. Yeah, and if he can, if he
- 32:58Speaker 2: can elevate Stroud just a little bit, that's amazing. Nico
- 33:02Speaker 2: Collins is great, Tank Dell could be the best of
- 33:05Speaker 2: all three of them. Who knows the three seed I
- 33:08Speaker 2: have Baltimore similar to you, and for the four seed,
- 33:11Speaker 2: I have to stick with Buffalo, So I'm keeping.
- 33:14Speaker 1: The Bills Buffalo another as title.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Yep, and then wild card I have Jacksonville. At five,
- 33:23Speaker 2: we both have the Jacks. Also, I also think that
- 33:27Speaker 2: they had a really unlucky season last year. And look,
- 33:32Speaker 2: I think Trevor Lawrence has it and we just haven't
- 33:34Speaker 2: really seen it. He had a good second year, but
- 33:38Speaker 2: he hasn't had like the elevation from that, and I
- 33:41Speaker 2: think we could see that this year, and I'd be
- 33:42Speaker 2: really excited to see that a team that you didn't have.
- 33:49Speaker 2: For six, I have the Cleveland Brown.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Okay, good.
- 33:52Speaker 2: I still think that the talent on that team is
- 33:55Speaker 2: standing Judy. They they have obviously some questions, but I
- 34:01Speaker 2: think that they could make.
- 34:03Speaker 1: On paper there as good as anybody. And Watson should
- 34:06Speaker 1: be a significant upgrade from Joe Flacco, just objectively, And
- 34:09Speaker 1: yet I don't feel like that's necessarily the case. I
- 34:11Speaker 1: don't know. I got to see it, Yeah, they got
- 34:13Speaker 1: to see it.
- 34:14Speaker 2: And and and at seven, I have the Jets because
- 34:17Speaker 2: I do think you know, I mean, you don't. You
- 34:19Speaker 2: can't predict health or injury. But with this team, if
- 34:23Speaker 2: they're the conversation for everyone is if they're healthy. Another
- 34:28Speaker 2: team that just has an incredible amount of talent. That
- 34:30Speaker 2: defense has been consistent, which is very difficult. And god,
- 34:35Speaker 2: if you know, if Mike Williams could be a half
- 34:40Speaker 2: of what he used to be for Rogers and Rogers
- 34:43Speaker 2: can be eighty percent of what he knows MVP season
- 34:46Speaker 2: Like whoa right? And Breeze Hall?
- 34:49Speaker 1: You know, is the all these guys here's the thing?
- 34:51Speaker 1: Right the Jets? Yeah, all these guys did that last year.
- 34:54Speaker 1: They won I think seven games with no quarterback. They
- 34:56Speaker 1: had twenty different offensive linemen. Like it's real. Like, if
- 34:59Speaker 1: you just tell me that Rogers is out there, it
- 35:02Speaker 1: it's the great deodorant. Like I think they might win
- 35:04Speaker 1: Week one in San Francisco. That's how confident I am them.
- 35:06Speaker 1: I think they're really good. Here's what's interesting. Neither of us,
- 35:11Speaker 1: neither of us, if I'm not mistaken, tell me if
- 35:12Speaker 1: I'm wrong. Neither of us took the Bengals to make
- 35:14Speaker 1: the playoffs. Is it the Burrow injury stuff? Because he's
- 35:20Speaker 1: apparently healthy.
- 35:21Speaker 2: I mean, I think there's got to be some concern
- 35:25Speaker 2: with a guy who has kind of had to remake
- 35:29Speaker 2: his throwing motion a little bit multiple times so early
- 35:33Speaker 2: in his career. This might just be purely off vibes,
- 35:38Speaker 2: but I don't like I love seeing the bleach blonde hair.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I don't know if that instills confidence in me, like
- 35:45Speaker 2: this guy's ready to go out and get it. I
- 35:47Speaker 2: love the look, but I don't know if that's making
- 35:50Speaker 2: me think like, oh, they're hungry for it. So yeah,
- 35:55Speaker 2: that's I don't have them because of that. I think
- 35:59Speaker 2: I am concerned with Burrow.
- 36:00Speaker 1: All right. So you have the Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence
- 36:02Speaker 1: is the playoff team, but you also don't have the Dolphins,
- 36:05Speaker 1: do you?
- 36:07Speaker 4: No?
- 36:07Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 36:08Speaker 2: I I Hey, I'm a huge to a fan. I
- 36:11Speaker 2: would love him to above all else stay safe and
- 36:16Speaker 2: keep you know, proving people wrong that he's that he
- 36:20Speaker 2: is a really top tier quarterback at some point. I
- 36:23Speaker 2: just have They are so exciting in the beginning and
- 36:26Speaker 2: they just never last. And I don't know if that's
- 36:29Speaker 2: going to change.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, okay, NFC, shall we let's do it. The
- 36:44Speaker 1: one seed in the NFC are the Detroit Lions. Steamroll
- 36:47Speaker 1: through this regular season harder schedule than last year with
- 36:50Speaker 1: the first place schedule. I just think they're really good.
- 36:52Speaker 1: All the hype, like they lived up to it last year,
- 36:55Speaker 1: and I think they're better this year, and they're healthier
- 36:57Speaker 1: than they were at the end of last season when
- 36:58Speaker 1: they were playing great football. There's a very good arguments
- 37:01Speaker 1: we made that they should have won that NFC Championship
- 37:03Speaker 1: game up what they were in San Francisco, and they
- 37:06Speaker 1: just could not close. What happens with the young teams
- 37:09Speaker 1: as you get older and you learn to close and
- 37:11Speaker 1: you get over the hump. I think they're gonna learn
- 37:13Speaker 1: to close out a lot of these games, some that
- 37:14Speaker 1: they lost at the end of last year. That's your
- 37:17Speaker 1: one seed. Two seed. I have a shocker. I got
- 37:19Speaker 1: the Rams over the Niners. The vibes of the Niners
- 37:22Speaker 1: just off right now. I think from Afar, like, what
- 37:24Speaker 1: do I know. Maybe they come out and they're fifteen
- 37:26Speaker 1: to two and it's like, everyone shut up, We're the
- 37:28Speaker 1: best team in the conference on paper. Of course, the
- 37:30Speaker 1: Niners and they went to Super Bowl last year. Maybe
- 37:32Speaker 1: I'm zigging what everyone else's zagging. I'm going Rams to
- 37:35Speaker 1: two seed. I was at practice. It might be a
- 37:36Speaker 1: recency bias. I'm in La I see a lot of
- 37:39Speaker 1: this stuff. I just feel like the vibes are right
- 37:41Speaker 1: with the Rams under the radar. No one's talking about them.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I think they are a surprise two seed, three seed
- 37:46Speaker 1: Atlanta pains me because I really like Tampa Bay and
- 37:51Speaker 1: they brought everyone back and they're like, we could do
- 37:53Speaker 1: it again. I've got Atlanta. They just added so much,
- 37:55Speaker 1: whether it be Kirk Cousins or Justin Simmons or just
- 37:58Speaker 1: the head coach and the offensive coordinator a being different.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I will say this and I'll break the fourth wall
- 38:03Speaker 1: within seconds. I picked Atlanta on Good Morning Football. Got
- 38:06Speaker 1: a text from a very high ranking Buccaneers official with
- 38:09Speaker 1: just a visual of a receipt, so people listen, people
- 38:12Speaker 1: watch it. I just like groveling, like.
- 38:14Speaker 2: I really like your team.
- 38:15Speaker 1: I just thinking, you know, in week seven, if you
- 38:17Speaker 1: look and it's like that was it. There was no
- 38:18Speaker 1: back and forth. I was like sixteen texts in a row.
- 38:20Speaker 1: It's like when a you know, I never had this happen,
- 38:24Speaker 1: but if a girl was to catch you cheating, and
- 38:25Speaker 1: then like on text, you're just like texting back and
- 38:27Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, and there's just no response,
- 38:30Speaker 1: like that's what this was. But I am not swayed.
- 38:33Speaker 1: I will stick with the Falcons the fourth seed. I
- 38:36Speaker 1: went Eagles in the East, though also not feeling one
- 38:40Speaker 1: hundred percent about that team after what was a weird offseason.
- 38:44Speaker 1: You know, on paper, you're like, all right, they added Saquon,
- 38:47Speaker 1: they added Quiney on Mitchell, they added Cooper dejene like,
- 38:49Speaker 1: they added all these great players, and then you know,
- 38:51Speaker 1: everything you hear is like there might have been disconnects
- 38:53Speaker 1: between the coaching the quarterback and then you've got two
- 38:56Speaker 1: new coordinators. That does that always work out? Still got
- 38:59Speaker 1: them winning the East over the Cowboys, which leads to
- 39:02Speaker 1: our wild card teams. The number five seed in the NFC,
- 39:08Speaker 1: I am going with the San Francisco forty nine ers.
- 39:10Speaker 1: They might not win the division, but there ain't missing
- 39:12Speaker 1: the playoffs. It's not going to be a total collapse,
- 39:14Speaker 1: you know. If anything, I think it might just take
- 39:17Speaker 1: them a couple of weeks out of the gates. It
- 39:19Speaker 1: was a really, really weird offseason with the Ayuk situation
- 39:23Speaker 1: and the Trent Williams situation. Look, I don't want to
- 39:26Speaker 1: make this very serious, but like what happened with Ricky
- 39:28Speaker 1: Piersoll is a crazy, crazy situation and that like that,
- 39:33Speaker 1: that's something that has to be addressed to the team.
- 39:35Speaker 1: And he was also their first round pick and now
- 39:38Speaker 1: he's dealing with that. So look, they could go like
- 39:41Speaker 1: I said, sixteen and one, fifteen to two, and I'll
- 39:43Speaker 1: just say I was wrong. I'm not. They're not missing
- 39:45Speaker 1: the playoffs. They're in the mix. They're going to be
- 39:47Speaker 1: in the mix in January. I just got the Rams
- 39:49Speaker 1: having the division this year, the sixth seed. I'm going
- 39:52Speaker 1: with my coach of the year and the Seahawks. I
- 39:54Speaker 1: already did the pitch about why I'm excited about them
- 39:56Speaker 1: and the seven I like lost sleep last night over
- 39:59Speaker 1: three different teams here, the Buccaneers, who I don't have
- 40:02Speaker 1: making it. And then it was like, all right, if
- 40:05Speaker 1: I'm putting the Seahawks in and I got the Eagles
- 40:08Speaker 1: winning that division, I got the Lions winning that division,
- 40:11Speaker 1: there's an odd team out here. So it was Packers
- 40:14Speaker 1: or Cowboys. Packers are Cowboys, and I went with the
- 40:17Speaker 1: Green Bay Packers as the seventh seed over the Cowboys.
- 40:20Speaker 1: So the Cowboys out of the playoffs entirely in my eyes.
- 40:25Speaker 1: The Buccaneers miss it as well, but Dallas missing the
- 40:28Speaker 1: playoffs after having one of the best regular seasons scoring
- 40:31Speaker 1: wise last year, And I don't know, I just there's
- 40:34Speaker 1: too many questions in the vibes and the vibes, guy,
- 40:37Speaker 1: I don't know if the vibes feel like Super Bowl
- 40:38Speaker 1: right now. Maybe I'm wrong. I always couldn't be wrong,
- 40:42Speaker 1: but I am not taking the Cowboys as a playoff team.
- 40:45Speaker 1: And guess what, I stood up there a national television
- 40:48Speaker 1: sident and I'm taking a beating online and it's not
- 40:51Speaker 1: great when you're on television and ratings matter, and we
- 40:53Speaker 1: choose not to pick the Cowboys. But I just feel
- 40:56Speaker 1: like there's a lot of good teams in the NFC,
- 40:57Speaker 1: and I don't have them winning the division and I
- 40:59Speaker 1: don't have them having a good enough record to be
- 41:01Speaker 1: a wildcard. Aaron, your thoughts.
- 41:03Speaker 2: The Cowboys omission is a shock, But really the thing
- 41:07Speaker 2: that made me visibly like my jaw dropped when you
- 41:12Speaker 2: had Atlanta had three really really division.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I think that division is winnable, like the Saints and
- 41:20Speaker 1: the Panthers. I don't know, like that's a quick you
- 41:22Speaker 1: know whatever.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, I think that it's just it's it's
- 41:29Speaker 2: funny to think of that team that is in a division,
- 41:33Speaker 2: Like you said, that's so winnable, and yet last year
- 41:36Speaker 2: Tampa Bay beat them out for it. And yeah, I
- 41:39Speaker 2: mean picking them at three is is you are more
- 41:43Speaker 2: brave than I.
- 41:47Speaker 1: All right, let's get your picks and then let's dissect
- 41:50Speaker 1: them with a fine tooth comb and then we'll wrap
- 41:53Speaker 1: this sucker up. All right, Aaron, your seven playoff picks,
- 41:56Speaker 1: including your one seed that gets a bye in the
- 41:58Speaker 1: first round. Mine was the Lions. What about you?
- 42:01Speaker 2: My number one is the Lions. I really yeah. I
- 42:04Speaker 2: think you pointed it out. There are a lot of
- 42:06Speaker 2: great teams here in the NFC, and the Lions seem
- 42:10Speaker 2: to be the only one that has both an incredible
- 42:13Speaker 2: wealth of talent as well as positive vibes like there's
- 42:18Speaker 2: there's just good things going on right now with Detroit,
- 42:23Speaker 2: and so I have them as an easy number one.
- 42:26Speaker 2: At number two, despite the contract issues, despite the Super
- 42:33Speaker 2: Bowl hangover, I have the forty nine ers. I think
- 42:36Speaker 2: they could get off to a slow start. You know,
- 42:39Speaker 2: we got CMC was injured earlier and UK wasn't practicing.
- 42:43Speaker 2: You know what doesn't matter. They just restructure debo They're
- 42:46Speaker 2: They're a great team.
- 42:47Speaker 1: They're the Niners. They're the team of the generation in
- 42:49Speaker 1: this conference, no doubt.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Yeah, And I mean number three, I have the Eagles.
- 42:55Speaker 2: I think that another team that just has an incredible
- 42:58Speaker 2: wealth of talent and let's get into the season. Anything
- 43:02Speaker 2: that may have been, you know, Jason Kelsey coming out
- 43:06Speaker 2: and saying it just wasn't a good hang in the
- 43:08Speaker 2: locker room, like we'll see, let's let's get on the
- 43:11Speaker 2: field and everyone remember what you're doing here. I think
- 43:16Speaker 2: that they're gonna be okay, okay. And at four, I
- 43:19Speaker 2: have Atlanta, so I do South. Yeah, wild card is
- 43:25Speaker 2: a little mixed up from yours. I have green Bay
- 43:28Speaker 2: first or as the fifth seed. I'm really excited for
- 43:32Speaker 2: green Bay and I think that they they uh, I
- 43:36Speaker 2: don't know. In some yeah, in some ways, green Bay's
- 43:39Speaker 2: like the NFC version of the Texans, where we have
- 43:41Speaker 2: this quarterback who really showed out last year with young receivers,
- 43:45Speaker 2: has an up and coming defense. So I'm excited about
- 43:48Speaker 2: green Bay. At number six, I have the Rams, another
- 43:51Speaker 2: team that you know, they they sort of in some
- 43:57Speaker 2: ways mimic the Jets for me, and that you've got
- 44:00Speaker 2: some fragility to it, but when it's working and firing
- 44:03Speaker 2: on all cylinders, the pieces of that are incredible. And
- 44:10Speaker 2: Cooper cup did had a bit of a down year.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Last He's gonna be back this year.
- 44:13Speaker 2: He's amazing. He's an amazing player. He's going to be
- 44:17Speaker 2: so good again. And then at number seven, I have Dallas,
- 44:20Speaker 2: all right, I yeah, so I picked I mean, I
- 44:23Speaker 2: picked Lamb and I picked Parsons for you know, offensive
- 44:26Speaker 2: and defensive players of the Year, because I do think
- 44:28Speaker 2: they're going to do well. I don't think they're necessarily
- 44:31Speaker 2: going to have any success in the playoffs, but I
- 44:33Speaker 2: think they're going to get there.
- 44:34Speaker 1: All right. So we have very similar similar as teams
- 44:36Speaker 1: in the NFC. Neither of us have the Buccaneers. Neither
- 44:40Speaker 1: of us went with the Bears, which is a hot
- 44:42Speaker 1: pick right now, and neither of us went way off
- 44:46Speaker 1: the board with something crazy as like the Vikings or
- 44:49Speaker 1: the Cardinals or anything like that. Our only difference was
- 44:52Speaker 1: Cowboys for you, Seahawks for me. The seedings are different.
- 44:56Speaker 1: So now I need you to work for the next
- 44:59Speaker 1: forty eight hours and preparing your Super Bowl pick. So
- 45:02Speaker 1: take some time figure out your sup rollo pick. I'm
- 45:05Speaker 1: gonna give my but let's leave it here as we
- 45:08Speaker 1: finished this at four pm Pacific on Tuesday, seven pm
- 45:15Speaker 1: Eastern Tuesday your time. I'm such a mess. I literally
- 45:19Speaker 1: am seeing like stars in my eyes right now. And
- 45:22Speaker 1: it's day two of a week that I'm here through Sunday.
- 45:25Speaker 1: So I'm gonna get this sleep in order. I'm gonna
- 45:26Speaker 1: go to bed after this. I might have my my
- 45:29Speaker 1: dinner at the chain restaurant across the store. I'm excited
- 45:31Speaker 1: for the chain Restaurant'm not gonna lie. I'm gonna I'm
- 45:34Speaker 1: gonna fore bro dinner for one with a book. I'm
- 45:37Speaker 1: listening to an audio book, uh, the book about Mike
- 45:41Speaker 1: Nichols by the great writer Mark Harris, which is fascinating.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Mike Nichols of course, The Graduate and so many other
- 45:48Speaker 1: films and a legendary guy, and like, I love listening
- 45:51Speaker 1: to that kind of stuff. Yeah. No, I'm not listening
- 45:53Speaker 1: to sports stuff. I'm listening to the The Almanac. Note
- 45:56Speaker 1: I'm listening to that.
- 45:57Speaker 2: If you do want a good audio book, the please
- 45:59Speaker 2: sports related. There's a really good biography of this NFL legend,
- 46:03Speaker 2: Bo Williams.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Bo Williams went in the fourteenth round of some draft
- 46:11Speaker 1: in like you know whatever. I don't even want to
- 46:15Speaker 1: reveal where it was, but yeah, didn't talk to this
- 46:17Speaker 1: guy for a year and my last Texas from the
- 46:19Speaker 1: draft last year he had where he's like, got any sleepers?
- 46:21Speaker 1: Hits me up again? Oh my, gott any sleepers? Like,
- 46:24Speaker 1: I'm not some booty call for your fantasy football draft.
- 46:28Speaker 1: You get Bo Williams and you get whatever disease comes
- 46:31Speaker 1: with him. That's what you're good. All right, Thanks, that's it.
- 46:34Speaker 1: On that note, we'll have another pod coming out I
- 46:38Speaker 1: think Thursday. But I appreciate everyone listening. Aaron, You're the
- 46:41Speaker 1: man for hopping on and doing this. I'm delirious. Let's
- 46:44Speaker 1: get out of here. Enjoy week one. We'll talk to
- 46:46Speaker 1: you guys Thursday. The Season with Peter Schrager is a
