- 0:31people Miracles over nature. This has got Parables, this has
- 0:36got rejection, this has got its got everything.
- 0:40This is right in the thick of Jesus ministry.
- 0:44And Luke certainly does not mince words, but he tells the
- 0:48story blow-by-blow of everything that Jesus got up to in his
- 0:51ministry and if we thought he was busy then.
- 0:55Imagine how busy is today? Being aware of all of us in all
- 0:59of our spaces, do Doing what we do.
- 1:01And through his Spirit blessing us holding us guiding Us boy.
- 1:06That's, that's that's exhausting lucky.
- 1:10He's God and we're not so friends.
- 1:12Join me. As we put down our days.
- 1:16Open. Our hearts, come before God
- 1:20together. Reading together, Luke chapter
- 1:248. Soon afterward Jesus began a
- 1:37tour of the nearby towns and Villages preaching and
- 1:41announcing. The good news about the kingdom
- 1:43of God. He took his disciples with him,
- 1:46along with some women who had been cured of evil spirits and
- 1:49diseases among them were Mary Magdalene from whom.
- 1:53He had cast out seven demons Joanna.
- 1:56The wife of chuza herod's business manager Susanna, and
- 2:01many others who were contributing from their own.
- 2:04Sources to support Jesus and his disciples.
- 2:08One day Jesus told the story in the form of a parable, to a
- 2:11large crowd, that had gathered from many towns to hear him.
- 2:16A farmer went out to plant his seed as he scattered it across
- 2:20his field. Some seed fell on a footpath
- 2:24where it was stepped on and the birds ate it.
- 2:27Other seed fell among rocks, it began to grow but the plants
- 2:31soon wilted and died for lack of moisture.
- 2:34Other seed fell among Thorns that grew up with it and choked
- 2:38out the tender plants. Still other seed fell on fertile
- 2:42soil. This seed grew and produced a
- 2:45crop that was A hundred times as much as have been planted.
- 2:49When he had said this, he called out anyone with ears to hear
- 2:54should listen and understand. His disciples asked him what
- 2:59this Parable meant he replied. You are permitted to understand
- 3:03the secrets of the kingdom of God, but I used Parables to
- 3:07teach the others. So that the scriptures might be
- 3:09fulfilled when they look, they won't really see when they hear
- 3:15they won't understand. This is the meaning of the
- 3:18parable. The seed is God's word.
- 3:22The seeds that fell on the footpath.
- 3:24Represent those who hear the message Only to have the devil
- 3:28come and take it away from their hearts and prevent them from
- 3:31believing. And being saved.
- 3:34The seeds on the rocky soil, represent those who hear the
- 3:37message and receive it with joy. But since they don't have Deep
- 3:40Roots, they believed for a while.
- 3:43Then they fall away when they faced Temptation the seeds, that
- 3:47fell among the Thorns, represent, those who hear the
- 3:50message, but all too quickly. The message is crowded out by
- 3:54the cares and riches and pleasures of this life.
- 3:58And so they never grow into maturity and the seeds that fell
- 4:02on the good soil. Represent honest, good-hearted,
- 4:05people, who hear God's word cling to it and patiently
- 4:10produce a huge Harvest. No one lights a lamp and then
- 4:14covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed.
- 4:17A lamp is placed on a stand where it's light can be seen by
- 4:21all who entered the house for all that, his secret will
- 4:25eventually be brought into the open.
- 4:28And everything that is concealed will be brought to light and
- 4:31made known to all. So, pay attention to how you
- 4:35hear those, who listen to my teaching, more understanding
- 4:39will be given, but for those who are not listening, even what
- 4:43they think they understand will be taken away from them.
- 4:48Then Jesus mother and brothers came to see him but they
- 4:51couldn't get to him because of the crowd.
- 4:54Someone told Jesus your mother and your brothers are standing
- 4:57outside and they want to see you, Jesus replied.
- 5:01My mother and my brothers are all those who hear God's word
- 5:06and Obey, it One day, Jesus said to his disciples, Let's cross to
- 5:12the other side of the lake. So they got into a boat and
- 5:15started out as they sailed across Jesus settle down for a
- 5:19nap. But soon, a fierce storm came
- 5:23down on the lake. The boat was filling with water
- 5:26and they were in real danger. The disciples went and woke him
- 5:29up shouting master master. We're going to drown when Jesus
- 5:34woke up, he rebuked the wind and the Raging Waves suddenly the
- 5:40storm stopped. And always calm, then he asked
- 5:44them. Where is your faith?
- 5:47The disciples were terrified and amazed.
- 5:50Who is this man? They asked each other when he
- 5:54gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him.
- 6:00So they arrived in the region of the gerasenes across the lake
- 6:03From Galilee as Jesus was climbing out of the boat, a man
- 6:07who was possessed by demons came out to meet him for a long time.
- 6:12He had been homeless and naked living in the tombs outside the
- 6:15town. As soon as he saw Jesus he
- 6:19shrieked and fell down in front of him then he screamed.
- 6:23Why are you interfering with me Jesus?
- 6:26Son of the most high God please I beg you don't torture me.
- 6:30For Jesus had already commanded the evil spirit to come out of
- 6:33him. This Spirit had often taken
- 6:36control of the man, even when he was placed under guard and put
- 6:40in Chains and shackles, he simply broke them and rushed out
- 6:44into the Wilderness completely under the demons power.
- 6:48Jesus demanded, what is your name legion?
- 6:52He replied for? He was filled with many demons.
- 6:56The demons kept begging Jesus, not to send them into the
- 6:58bottomless pit. It, they happened to be a large
- 7:02herd of pigs feeding on the hillside near by and the demons
- 7:05begged him to let them enter into the pigs.
- 7:08So Jesus gave them permission. Then the demons came out of the
- 7:12man and into the pigs and the entire herd plunged down the
- 7:16Steep Hillside and into the lake and drowned when the herdsman
- 7:21saw it, they fled to the nearby town and the surrounding
- 7:25Countryside, Spreading the News as they ran people rushed out to
- 7:29see. Had happened a crowd soon,
- 7:32gathered around Jesus, and they saw the man who had been freed
- 7:35from the demons. He was sitting at Jesus feet
- 7:38fully clothed and perfectly sane, and they were all afraid.
- 7:43Then those who had seen, what had happened, told the others.
- 7:46Had the demon-possessed man had been healed and all the people
- 7:50in the region of the gerasenes begged, Jesus to go away and
- 7:53leave them alone for a great wave of fear swept over them.
- 7:59So Jesus returned to the boat and left Crossing back to the
- 8:02other side of the lake. The man who had been freed from
- 8:06the demons begged to go with him but Jesus sent him home saying
- 8:10no go back to your family and tell them everything God has
- 8:14done for you. So he went all through the town,
- 8:18proclaiming the great things Jesus had done for him.
- 8:23On the other side of the lake, the crowds welcomed Jesus
- 8:26because they'd been waiting for him.
- 8:28Then a man named Jairus. A leader of the local synagogue
- 8:31came and fell at Jesus feet, pleading with him to come home
- 8:35with him. His only daughter who was about
- 8:3812 years old was dying. As Jesus went with him.
- 8:43He was surrounded by the crowds, a woman in the crowd had
- 8:47suffered for 12 years with constant bleeding, and she could
- 8:51find no cure. Coming up behind Jesus.
- 8:55She touched The Fringe of his robe immediately.
- 8:58The bleeding stopped, who touched me.
- 9:00Jesus asked everyone denied it and Peter said, Master this
- 9:05whole crowd is pressing up against you, but Jesus said
- 9:09someone deliberately touched me for, I felt healing power.
- 9:13Go out from me when the woman realized that she could not stay
- 9:17hidden. She began to tremble and fell to
- 9:19her knees in front of him, the whole crowd heard her.
- 9:23Why she had touched him and that she had been immediately healed
- 9:27daughter. He said to her, your faith has
- 9:30made you. Well go in peace while he was
- 9:34still speaking to her and messenger arrived from the home
- 9:37of gyrus, the leader of the synagogue, he told him, your
- 9:41daughter is dead, there's no use troubling the teacher now.
- 9:45But when Jesus heard what had happened, he said to gyrus,
- 9:49Don't Be Afraid. Just have faith and she will be
- 9:52healed. Old.
- 9:54When they arrived at the house, Jesus wouldn't let anyone go in
- 9:57with him except Peter, John James, and the little girl's
- 10:01father and mother. The house was filled with people
- 10:04weeping and wailing, but he said, stop the Weeping.
- 10:07She isn't dead, she's only asleep.
- 10:10But the crowd laughed at him, because they all knew she had
- 10:13died. Then Jesus Took her by the hand
- 10:17and said in a loud voice. My child get up.
- 10:22At that moment, her life returned.
- 10:25And she immediately stood up, then Jesus told them to give her
- 10:29something to eat. Her parents were overwhelmed,
- 10:33but Jesus insisted that they not tell anyone what had happened.
- 10:47Jesus. You see us in our predicaments
- 10:52and you bless when you heal and you follow and you respond and
- 10:58you love and you provide You are the creator of the universe and
- 11:05our God Almighty and still, you choose to respond to the
