- 0:14Speaker 1: a vaginal podcast. Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:24Speaker 2: In fairness, like what was going on at the time
- 0:27Speaker 2: of this open respiptis we?
- 0:28Speaker 3: Oh yeah?
- 0:28Speaker 4: I mean I like to think I would not point
- 0:31Speaker 4: out like, oh, look at this guy on the other
- 0:33Speaker 4: side of the field that's opened.
- 0:35Speaker 3: In sult of them a little bitter. I know, I
- 0:37Speaker 3: did love the way they handled the end of.
- 0:38Speaker 2: The first sea. I was fine with it. Go for points.
- 0:41Speaker 1: They didn't.
- 0:41Speaker 3: They were throwing the ball no, you know, as.
- 0:44Speaker 1: A ball no er.
- 0:44Speaker 4: I just think like I would just like to man's
- 0:46Speaker 4: playing silent count.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Someone intentionally hit us with their car on the way
- 0:50Speaker 3: into the game last night. Someone intentionally hit us, knocked
- 0:53Speaker 3: the whole front bumper of my brother's car, pulled up
- 0:55Speaker 3: beside him very angrily, and slammed himself into the side
- 0:59Speaker 3: of my brother's car.
- 1:00Speaker 2: You're kidding, assault brother. Maybe he recognized you and heard
- 1:05Speaker 2: you on the radio. Listener doesn't like to show that
- 1:10Speaker 2: it wasn't Andy Hart.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Wasn't This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 1:17Speaker 4: dot com.
- 1:20Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Wednesday here
- 1:23Speaker 2: at Jillete Stadium. It's our official Turn the Page day
- 1:28Speaker 2: where we go from reviewing last Sunday's game to talking
- 1:32Speaker 2: about this upcoming game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Another
- 1:37Speaker 2: good test I think for the team. Buccaneers, are you know,
- 1:40Speaker 2: one of the better teams in the league. I wouldn't
- 1:42Speaker 2: say the best top echelon, but they're a good competitive team,
- 1:47Speaker 2: winning record, some good matchups that should challenge the Patriots.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So I think a good opportunity, particularly for the defense
- 1:57Speaker 2: in this game. And we'll talk about that. We'll have
- 2:00Speaker 2: Mike Rabel with his live press conference. I think that's
- 2:03Speaker 2: at twelve fifty five and one o'clock. One of five minutes.
- 2:07Speaker 2: You need that five minutes? Yeah, you never military time here,
- 2:11Speaker 2: something going on schedule. So what are they doing now?
- 2:15Speaker 3: What acclimating all the acquisitions they make?
- 2:17Speaker 2: Oh, Paully, are you are you one of the I am?
- 2:22Speaker 2: Are you one of the Madden Fantasy you know? Definitely
- 2:28Speaker 2: not want your GM Fantasy boys that are upset about
- 2:32Speaker 2: no moves yesterday.
- 2:33Speaker 3: No, I mean I was a little surprised. I said
- 2:36Speaker 3: on the show that I felt like they would probably
- 2:38Speaker 3: make a move, but I wasn't expecting anything really big.
- 2:40Speaker 3: I'm not overly surprised that they didn't do anything big.
- 2:43Speaker 3: I'm a little surprised they didn't add.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Some I think they they probably tried in a couple
- 2:47Speaker 2: of instances. I think that's probably here's the thing. Teams
- 2:50Speaker 2: out there aren't willing to help the Patriots become that
- 2:53Speaker 2: they They're not. Nobody wants to be that team that
- 2:57Speaker 2: helped us become good again.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Certainly not the Jets, like the Jets. I think that's
- 3:02Speaker 4: the thing. And I I saw the Titan. I said
- 3:04Speaker 4: this on Catch twenty two, like I was dead wrong
- 3:07Speaker 4: about there being no big trades, Like I'll take that
- 3:10Speaker 4: one on the Gin dead wrong. But it happens to
- 3:13Speaker 4: be that it was a division rival that made all
- 3:15Speaker 4: the big trades. So like the Jets were not going
- 3:18Speaker 4: to trade Quinn Williams or Sauce Gardner to the Patriots,
- 3:20Speaker 4: Like even if the Patriots would have paid the price,
- 3:23Speaker 4: they're at least going to charge a division tax. So
- 3:26Speaker 4: it's going to be even more than what was given
- 3:28Speaker 4: up for those guys. So that was a little bit
- 3:30Speaker 4: unlucky that the splashes that happened were teams that were
- 3:34Speaker 4: not probably.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Gonna do it. We'll talk about that. It's Evan, it's Paul,
- 3:37Speaker 2: it's me, it's Deuce, it's Alex and the Booth and
- 3:40Speaker 2: let's let's get into that. Do you think the Jets
- 3:43Speaker 2: are winners yesterday or Ish? Yeah?
- 3:47Speaker 3: The winner is tell me why Ish? Look, dude, it's
- 3:53Speaker 3: I'm having a hard time just completely embracing everything they
- 3:56Speaker 3: did because they're completely tearing it down again, right. I
- 4:00Speaker 3: think the Quentin Williams trade specifically was a home run
- 4:03Speaker 3: for the Jets. I love Quentin Williams. I think he's
- 4:06Speaker 3: a terrific player, and he's still fairly I think he's
- 4:08Speaker 3: twenty seven to twenty eight, he's still fairly young. But
- 4:11Speaker 3: that's a good return for a defensive.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Tackle at twenty seven.
- 4:15Speaker 3: You know, that's a I mean a first and a second.
- 4:18Speaker 3: That's a good return. The Sauce trade I like for
- 4:21Speaker 3: their Jets, but I also like it for the Colts.
- 4:25Speaker 3: But you look at it, they're going to end up with,
- 4:28Speaker 3: you know, two first and two seconds in this upcoming draft.
- 4:31Speaker 3: They'll have multiple firsts in the twenty seven draft as well.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Not bad. You still have a couple of glaring holes
- 4:40Speaker 3: one quarterback and two you got to hit those picks.
- 4:43Speaker 3: And I just look at what the One of the
- 4:46Speaker 3: things that would kind of surprise you is how well
- 4:48Speaker 3: they've drafted, like talent was. Yeah, they just had the
- 4:52Speaker 3: top four. You know, everybody says like, well, they're going
- 4:54Speaker 3: to try to do what Detroit did. And Evan has
- 4:56Speaker 3: talked about this a lot. Evan and I like Detroit.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Basically they got Jamier Gibs, Jack Campbell, Sam Laporta, Brian Branch,
- 5:05Speaker 3: two ones, two twos in the same draft four for
- 5:07Speaker 3: four knocked him out of the park.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Just did the same thing in twenty.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Two Garrett Wilson, SaaS Gardner, Jermaine Johnson, and Breeze Hall
- 5:16Speaker 3: with the top four picks. And they suck because why
- 5:19Speaker 3: they don't have a quarterback.
- 5:21Speaker 4: So that's why I give them some credit for what
- 5:23Speaker 4: they did, because they recognized that their current core and
- 5:30Speaker 4: without having a quarterback, they weren't going to win any games.
- 5:34Speaker 4: So now they have this whole stockpile of picks to
- 5:38Speaker 4: maneuver to get the quarterback. So I think the biggest
- 5:42Speaker 4: thing that I have, and I'm not necessarily just talking
- 5:44Speaker 4: about the draft, like they could use that those picks
- 5:46Speaker 4: to trade for a quarterback too, you know, a veteran,
- 5:48Speaker 4: established quarterback, like the Jets to me have been overrated
- 5:52Speaker 4: for like three years now. Everybody keeps telling me how
- 5:54Speaker 4: great their roster is, and then the end of the
- 5:56Speaker 4: season they're picking in the top ten every single year.
- 5:59Speaker 4: So it's like, at some point we can say that
- 6:01Speaker 4: SaaS is a great player, we can say Quinn Williams
- 6:03Speaker 4: is a great player. They don't win any games, so like,
- 6:07Speaker 4: if you're not going to win it, and I get it,
- 6:09Speaker 4: everybody blames the quarterback. But you know, Aaron Rodgers gets
- 6:12Speaker 4: hurt in his first year with the Jets. He played
- 6:14Speaker 4: last year and he looks pretty good in Pittsburgh right now,
- 6:18Speaker 4: so like, you know, well, they're winning, like they have
- 6:20Speaker 4: a winning record and they're going to go to the playoffs.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I think I think he's doing okay. As much as
- 6:27Speaker 2: I don't want him to, I can't. I have to
- 6:30Speaker 2: be honest and say he's doing fine.
- 6:32Speaker 4: I just think at some point, if you're the Jets,
- 6:34Speaker 4: like and I think This is basically what they told you,
- 6:36Speaker 4: like this roster was a little bit overrated, Like these
- 6:39Speaker 4: players were a little bit overrated. We've now had our
- 6:42Speaker 4: chance to work with them and we kind of see that,
- 6:44Speaker 4: and so they're hitting the reset button. I give them credit, like,
- 6:47Speaker 4: I give them credit for recognizing that and you know,
- 6:50Speaker 4: going in a different direction and now they to Paul's point,
- 6:52Speaker 4: like they got to hit on the picks.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I think for the winners for this season of
- 6:55Speaker 2: the Patriots, we got to play them twice. And if
- 6:58Speaker 2: you're one of the left behinds them that team, do
- 7:00Speaker 2: you even care about the rest of the season? Oh boy,
- 7:02Speaker 2: maybe not. I mean, but you know, maybe the Colts too.
- 7:04Speaker 3: I don't think they care any less than today than
- 7:06Speaker 3: they did yesterday.
- 7:07Speaker 2: That I think that's prob. They're one and seven. Why
- 7:10Speaker 2: couldn't you have traded me?
- 7:11Speaker 3: I think Evan just hit the nail on the head.
- 7:13Speaker 3: They have these good players and they weren't winning any games.
- 7:15Speaker 3: They're not winning players.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Part of it to me is the culture too, and
- 7:18Speaker 5: it's kind of brought some of those guys down. And
- 7:21Speaker 5: you know, like Sauce Gardner comes in with so much
- 7:23Speaker 5: potential and you feel like a lot of these guys
- 7:25Speaker 5: are kind of infected with losing right now. And I
- 7:27Speaker 5: think we saw it happen around here a little bit too.
- 7:29Speaker 5: I think that's part of the move as well.
- 7:31Speaker 2: You know.
- 7:32Speaker 5: For Indianapolis though, I think it's a really good move.
- 7:34Speaker 5: I mean, they've built their team through the draft. They
- 7:38Speaker 5: Daniel Jones looked good right now. You know, it wasn't
- 7:40Speaker 5: gonna happen this year for quarterback anyway. They won too
- 7:42Speaker 5: many games already, They're not going to be in position to,
- 7:44Speaker 5: you know, be in a top ten this year.
- 7:45Speaker 6: So I think for me, it's really about twenty tars.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I'm saying that Daniel Jones is the guy.
- 7:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean you're basically saying for the next yeah,
- 7:51Speaker 5: for the next two years. I mean you're not you know,
- 7:53Speaker 5: you're not gonna have a first round pick for the
- 7:54Speaker 5: next two years.
- 7:55Speaker 3: So and Mike's point was they weren't going to be
- 7:58Speaker 3: in if they held onto that draft pick. They weren't
- 8:00Speaker 3: going to be in position to get a quarterback this
- 8:02Speaker 3: year most likely right because of their record, because their
- 8:05Speaker 3: record's too good, they're going to be picking in the
- 8:07Speaker 3: bottom half of it. Already lost for this year, Botum
- 8:09Speaker 3: third probably yea, So.
- 8:11Speaker 6: It's on Daniel Jones now.
- 8:12Speaker 5: But I mean give the Colts credit for how they've
- 8:14Speaker 5: built their team through the draft. I mean they've had
- 8:16Speaker 5: a really good offensive line for a long time. Jonathan
- 8:18Speaker 5: Taylor is back to that MVP type form that we
- 8:21Speaker 5: saw back in twenty one, really good homegrowning. It's you know,
- 8:24Speaker 5: they're they're ready to go. So it's all on you know.
- 8:26Speaker 5: I'm flashing back to some of the in season hard
- 8:30Speaker 5: knocks last year with the Giants where you heard them
- 8:33Speaker 5: having Joe Chane having these conversations about like, you know,
- 8:36Speaker 5: do we put guys around Daniel Jones to find out
- 8:38Speaker 5: what he's got? And you know, and then it was
- 8:40Speaker 5: all around getting rid of Saquan and all those decisions.
- 8:43Speaker 2: And now you feel like the Colts think they've struck old.
- 8:45Speaker 2: If you're the Jets, are you thinking draft with kind
- 8:49Speaker 2: of a so far a week quarterback draft or are
- 8:51Speaker 2: you thinking bundle this, go to Cincinnati, give them a
- 8:55Speaker 2: boatload and bring Joe Cool to the Big Apple.
- 8:58Speaker 4: I don't know about Joe Burrow, but that's what I
- 9:00Speaker 4: think they're need to do.
- 9:01Speaker 6: Everything should be on the table right and they're.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Trading for a veteran quarterback because I don't think they're
- 9:07Speaker 4: gonna do Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson three point zero.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Like I don't think that Woody Johnson is going to
- 9:11Speaker 4: be in love with that idea of just sucking draft
- 9:14Speaker 4: the next good you know, number one overall pick quarterback.
- 9:17Speaker 4: And Aaron Gunn was just in Detroit with Jared Goff
- 9:20Speaker 4: who they traded for and it worked out. So my
- 9:24Speaker 4: guess is is you know we were actually kicking around,
- 9:26Speaker 4: so jam got around. I'm really interested, so like realistically
- 9:30Speaker 4: not Joe Burrow. We did mention Trevor Lawrence like if
- 9:33Speaker 4: you want to like, but these are those ones are
- 9:36Speaker 4: kind of unrealistic to me. Kyler Murray, Yeah, so Kyler
- 9:41Speaker 4: is definitely in play.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Rock Purty Rock Party and Trevor Lawrence. I could see
- 9:51Speaker 3: Kyler Murray is I think close to the other.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Bar throughout that I said that Dolphins would not do this,
- 9:57Speaker 4: but Tua you know to it.
- 10:01Speaker 2: But I shouldn't say anything because the Patriots haven't had
- 10:03Speaker 2: good luck with him, But go ahead and do that.
- 10:06Speaker 4: But Pie in the Sky would be like some I
- 10:08Speaker 4: don't I think Burrows not.
- 10:09Speaker 3: But those kinds of things wouldn't cost you this kind
- 10:12Speaker 3: of capital.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Oh not everything.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, like who is not casting you?
- 10:17Speaker 2: It would cost you two first round picks.
- 10:19Speaker 3: And I wouldn't make the trade for two dumb too.
- 10:22Speaker 3: I think that's what two first round picks for Tua.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I think that's what Miami would want.
- 10:27Speaker 3: And he's going to stay on Miami.
- 10:28Speaker 4: He's not gonna You're not. They're not going to trade
- 10:30Speaker 4: for two in the division. I don't think Miami would
- 10:32Speaker 4: trade him in the division. But I think Party, you know,
- 10:35Speaker 4: if they decide that he's really expensive and mac Jones
- 10:39Speaker 4: is kind of just the same thing.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Party makes a little sense. I could see that he
- 10:44Speaker 3: ain't getting two ones from Purdy.
- 10:46Speaker 4: No, no, but you have all this extra capital that
- 10:50Speaker 4: if you do have to trade any you know, one
- 10:52Speaker 4: one or one in a two or whatever the case
- 10:54Speaker 4: may be, you don't feel like you're trading away your
- 10:57Speaker 4: whole draft class.
- 10:58Speaker 2: No, they can afford it, right absolutely.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Like I was immediately thinking when you
- 11:04Speaker 3: said that, because I hadn't really given much thought to
- 11:06Speaker 3: you know, a veteran quarterback. I was immediately thinking the
- 11:08Speaker 3: Detroit model with Stafford and you know, it would be
- 11:12Speaker 3: just like the Jets to say, I want trade for
- 11:14Speaker 3: Matthew Stafford and he'll be done next year. Like he's
- 11:18Speaker 3: having a great year this year, he had all those
- 11:20Speaker 3: back problems heading in. I still think that Sean McVay
- 11:23Speaker 3: is probably holding his breath every game.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Looks like you honestly like it kind of looks.
- 11:28Speaker 2: He's played so well though this might be his best year.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Yeah, but he you know, let's face it, he's a
- 11:34Speaker 3: hit away. Yeah, And that would be just like the Jets,
- 11:36Speaker 3: like we'll trade you a first round pick for you know,
- 11:39Speaker 3: a year, one more year of Matthew Stafford and he
- 11:42Speaker 3: won't make it through the year.
- 11:43Speaker 4: That's why, like I feel like, and I said this,
- 11:46Speaker 4: like it's the Jets, so they'll find a way to
- 11:48Speaker 4: mess it up, Like we all know that they'll find
- 11:51Speaker 4: a way.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Well, that's the other thing is Aaron Glenn. I was
- 11:53Speaker 2: just gonna say, where does this put Aaron Glenn?
- 11:54Speaker 4: But if you're if you're the Jets, like I feel
- 11:57Speaker 4: like splitting it right down the middle of we're not
- 12:00Speaker 4: going to go back in the draft because we've done
- 12:02Speaker 4: that before and we're not going to do the Stafford thing.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Because we did that with Rogers and that didn't.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Work's why you gotta be you have good ones.
- 12:08Speaker 2: So I'm gonna mark and purty good.
- 12:10Speaker 4: I'm going to trade for like a twenty eight year
- 12:12Speaker 4: old veteran quarterback like that's like right in the middle
- 12:16Speaker 4: of those two things. We'll see, all right.
- 12:19Speaker 2: So that's the trade thing. And again, you know, I
- 12:21Speaker 2: think the Patriots were in on some people, but teams
- 12:25Speaker 2: don't want to help anything.
- 12:27Speaker 5: Well, you already said they were in on Phillips. You
- 12:29Speaker 5: already tweeted that this morning that they were.
- 12:31Speaker 2: They were, they were. There was a guy that got
- 12:34Speaker 2: traded from the Titans, Jones that we were told we're
- 12:37Speaker 2: not trading them, and then they traded them.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 2: So uh And you know, the rumors are that the
- 12:43Speaker 2: ownership just doesn't like Rabel and didn't want to help him.
- 12:47Speaker 3: So that makes that makes a little I mean, I
- 12:49Speaker 3: think it's dumb to operate like that. It's it's it's business,
- 12:53Speaker 3: it's it shouldn't be personal. But I mean I understand
- 12:55Speaker 3: what the Jets the Titans. I don't understand the whole
- 12:58Speaker 3: division thing. I really don't now those particular moves that
- 13:02Speaker 3: the Jets made as Evan said, you know, the Patriots
- 13:04Speaker 3: are not looking to acquire Sauce Gardner. Forget about the compensation.
- 13:07Speaker 3: They already have a great corner that they're going to
- 13:10Speaker 3: have to pay. You know, like that, that didn't make
- 13:11Speaker 3: a lot of sense. But if Breese Hall was really
- 13:15Speaker 3: on the block, on the block, and they wanted a
- 13:17Speaker 3: third round pick, and the Patriots were willing to give
- 13:21Speaker 3: a third round pick and they said no because of
- 13:22Speaker 3: the division, that's just dumb. That's just bad business. Yeah,
- 13:25Speaker 3: I Belichick never would have done that. I heard a
- 13:27Speaker 3: lot of.
- 13:27Speaker 2: People say, oh, I wouldn't give a third round pick
- 13:29Speaker 2: for Bristol. I think I would.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Well, nobody else think I would.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I'm not telling you I would have. I wouldn't have.
- 13:35Speaker 3: I'm saying if you wanted the third round pick and
- 13:36Speaker 3: the Patriots offered, and you said no, one because they
- 13:38Speaker 3: were in the division, that's stupid.
- 13:40Speaker 4: If somebody offered the Jets a third round pick for
- 13:42Speaker 4: Breese Hall, he wouldn't be a Jet.
- 13:44Speaker 3: You know, that's what that's what they wanted. Nobody offered it.
- 13:46Speaker 3: And I know what you're saying.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Kansas City four, It sounds like that's as high as
- 13:52Speaker 4: anybody would go, so nobody wanted it.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I would love to know if we did offer at
- 13:57Speaker 2: least a fourth or a third, because, like Paul said, uh,
- 14:03Speaker 2: it's kind of weird that they wouldn't take that if
- 14:05Speaker 2: we were the only ones offering a third. But I
- 14:09Speaker 2: you know, listen, they wouldn't be the only team that
- 14:12Speaker 2: kind of has that rule about not helping a team
- 14:15Speaker 2: in the division. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:17Speaker 4: He's definitely different with quarterback, like like trading barsting of trading.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I mean famously traded Bledsoe to the Bills.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Yeah, but on his last leg at that point he
- 14:27Speaker 4: had Now he was still the first year he was
- 14:31Speaker 4: a pro bowler, right.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Year he played five more years. Like it's like the
- 14:39Speaker 3: best deal was a first round pick. Belichick wisely said,
- 14:45Speaker 3: he's not going to be better than the guy. I
- 14:46Speaker 3: have a guy that I think is better than him.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I'm taking the best deal the teams with the what
- 14:51Speaker 3: team is on, Like, I think my guy's better, So
- 14:54Speaker 3: I'm not afraid of him coming back to haunt me.
- 14:56Speaker 3: That was smart business. Now, I wish he kept doing
- 14:59Speaker 3: that like Garoppolo and stuff like that later on and
- 15:02Speaker 3: instead of worrying about putting this guy in a good spot,
- 15:06Speaker 3: punishing that guy because you didn't take my contract, and
- 15:09Speaker 3: sending him to Siberia for less, but that deal bill maximized.
- 15:14Speaker 3: I don't think anybody else was given a first round pick.
- 15:16Speaker 2: For bled Cell, right, I don't know. I never didn't
- 15:19Speaker 2: hear it.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I think that was a good trade.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah, so so interesting stuff yesterday. It was a blockbuster move,
- 15:28Speaker 2: you know.
- 15:29Speaker 3: It was, But I mean two huge ones for the
- 15:31Speaker 3: jet It's just for me.
- 15:32Speaker 5: It highlights the Patriots depth that they're going to have
- 15:34Speaker 5: to go through the last two months of this season
- 15:36Speaker 5: hoping that you know, Harold Landry, Caleb Chase, we all
- 15:39Speaker 5: we got, we all, we got, we all we Need's right,
- 15:41Speaker 5: We'll see if it's all we need. But I think
- 15:44Speaker 5: it just illustrates some of the depth issues that we've
- 15:46Speaker 5: talked about since training camp. And I think I said
- 15:49Speaker 5: after Week one once you got to look at this
- 15:51Speaker 5: team under live fire, that there are going to be
- 15:53Speaker 5: some spots that are turned over next year and there's
- 15:55Speaker 5: some place filler holders this year. I'm just surprised because
- 15:59Speaker 5: I thought the directions we're pointing to, you just need
- 16:02Speaker 5: a body right now, Like I mean, They've got a
- 16:04Speaker 5: bunch of these new running backs that they bought in
- 16:06Speaker 5: Denis Johnson, but that's who they're going to ride with.
- 16:08Speaker 5: And you know, there might be a point this season
- 16:10Speaker 5: where you're saying, Elijah Ponder, it's go time at you know,
- 16:14Speaker 5: starting defensive end here you go.
- 16:16Speaker 3: You know, I wonder if they're thinking that way. You know,
- 16:18Speaker 3: we've given a lot of rookies playing time. I wonder
- 16:21Speaker 3: if they're like, you know, happens we rolled with Swinton
- 16:25Speaker 3: on the practice squad. You know, maybe one of these
- 16:26Speaker 3: guys is going to have a bigger role, you know,
- 16:28Speaker 3: in the second half. I don't know.
- 16:30Speaker 4: I commend them for it, because give them for what exactly,
- 16:35Speaker 4: for sticking to their plan, because I think that we
- 16:40Speaker 4: all can objectively look at the situation that's unfolded here
- 16:45Speaker 4: and recognize that they are kind of hitting, you know,
- 16:50Speaker 4: lightning in the bottle right now with this season where
- 16:52Speaker 4: everything kind of went their way. They have no major injuries.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Drake made hit and you know is an MVP cant
- 17:00Speaker 4: a date. Their schedule is easy, and I think it
- 17:03Speaker 4: would have been easy to do what the Commanders did
- 17:06Speaker 4: and and.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Have the second most cap space in football.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Start, you know, going all in on a season where
- 17:14Speaker 4: you know, Deuce is talking about the depth on the roster.
- 17:16Speaker 4: They're probably still an off season away from having really
- 17:21Speaker 4: what they want in terms of the depth on the roster.
- 17:24Speaker 4: And if you start trading away draft picks and stuff
- 17:26Speaker 4: like that for rentals, then that those are your opportunities
- 17:31Speaker 4: to accumulate that depth. And I just I think that
- 17:34Speaker 4: they looked at it objectively and we're like, are we
- 17:38Speaker 4: really discood?
- 17:39Speaker 2: You mentioned rentals, but there was also a path to
- 17:42Speaker 2: getting people who aren't rentals. It wasn't it wasn't just rentals.
- 17:47Speaker 4: That yeah, it was Jalen Phillips, Rashid Shahid.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I don't think that, you know, I'm not saying that
- 17:54Speaker 2: the Patriots were interested, but Sauce Gardner's not a rental,
- 17:56Speaker 2: Quinn Williams isn't all right, But we just went over
- 18:00Speaker 2: like maybe there were people that you could have pursued
- 18:03Speaker 2: that aren't rentals. I don't think they should have gotten
- 18:05Speaker 2: rentals either.
- 18:06Speaker 4: I think I mean, is there a chance that you
- 18:08Speaker 4: could have blown somebody out of the water with two
- 18:10Speaker 4: first round picks for a star player? Like right, sure,
- 18:13Speaker 4: But like I just wouldn't have done that.
- 18:16Speaker 3: I wouldn't have done that later, Henderson, I mean like
- 18:18Speaker 3: we didn't get traded.
- 18:19Speaker 2: No, he didn't get traded, but like I don't know
- 18:22Speaker 2: what the offers were. But if you get him, you're
- 18:25Speaker 2: not thinking he's a rental. You've got a handshake deal
- 18:28Speaker 2: to give him a com Yeah, I.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Hear you, but he's thirty one. Like I just I
- 18:32Speaker 4: think the biggest thing to me is like you're trying
- 18:35Speaker 4: to build something sustainable here. You're not. You don't want
- 18:38Speaker 4: to just be a one hit wonder where you have
- 18:40Speaker 4: one year where you play schedule, win twelve games.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Let's say the Jets were willing to give us Prieste
- 18:45Speaker 2: Fall for a third, would you have done that?
- 18:50Speaker 7: Do I?
- 18:50Speaker 4: What's for Andre Stevenson's toe is does he have a
- 18:53Speaker 4: little stub or does he have turf toe?
- 18:55Speaker 7: Like?
- 18:55Speaker 4: What's what's the situation?
- 18:57Speaker 2: It doesn't matter to me?
- 18:58Speaker 4: Well, I think it matters. Yeah, you know Andre is
- 19:01Speaker 4: going to be fine.
- 19:02Speaker 2: But you still only really have two front line running
- 19:05Speaker 2: backs and you're an injury away of being back in
- 19:07Speaker 2: that same situation.
- 19:09Speaker 4: But Brice Hall is not coming here as injury insurance.
- 19:12Speaker 4: He's coming here to replace Remandreu. So like now Rimandre
- 19:15Speaker 4: is going to be riding the bench. Now I'm being
- 19:17Speaker 4: told that Remandre is going to be out for four
- 19:19Speaker 4: to six weeks, and that's a different story.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Well, you say riding the bench you wrote you know,
- 19:25Speaker 2: like right now, Henderson doesn't ride the bench.
- 19:31Speaker 4: But like Henderson's playing a third down back role like
- 19:33Speaker 4: Brice Hall, you're getting acquiring him to be the lead back,
- 19:36Speaker 4: which is what Ramandre is doing right now. So like
- 19:39Speaker 4: if you acquire bris Hall, like Rimandre's going to play
- 19:43Speaker 4: significantly less if that's what you're doing. So like again,
- 19:46Speaker 4: if he's hurt and he's out for an extended period
- 19:49Speaker 4: of time and that changes his thing, do you think
- 19:51Speaker 4: he's an upgrade Brice Hall, He's definitely more dynamic.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Do you think he's an upgrade?
- 19:57Speaker 4: He's different.
- 20:00Speaker 2: No, Wow, okay, I do I disagree, But yeah, like.
- 20:06Speaker 4: An upgrade, like it's a running back, Like it's that's
- 20:08Speaker 4: why I'm not like, you know, it's not Christian McCaffrey. Like,
- 20:12Speaker 4: I think he's an upgrade in the sense that he's
- 20:14Speaker 4: a more explosive player than Remandre Uh, definitely more explosive
- 20:19Speaker 4: pass catcher. And you know, make bigger plays happen with
- 20:21Speaker 4: the ball in his hands. But is it a you know,
- 20:24Speaker 4: a needle movie, Like is there you trading proof?
- 20:26Speaker 7: Yea.
- 20:27Speaker 2: I look at you know, Bijon, like, I know this
- 20:30Speaker 2: could never happen. But if there was a draft and
- 20:33Speaker 2: there was a twenty four year old Breis Hall who
- 20:35Speaker 2: I knew about how what he could do in the NFL,
- 20:38Speaker 2: I would take him for a third round pick. Yeah,
- 20:42Speaker 2: I would too.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Nobody else would, Like it's not just the Patriots, like
- 20:45Speaker 4: no one else offered them a third round pick. They're
- 20:48Speaker 4: still a Jet Like I just I think that again,
- 20:53Speaker 4: like they they've it's lined up nicely for them this season,
- 20:57Speaker 4: and Drake May's play has led into a lot of that.
- 21:00Speaker 4: But Drake May broke out. The schedule is easy, like
- 21:03Speaker 4: they've taken advantage of all of those things. And I mean,
- 21:08Speaker 4: I don't mean to like look ahead, but have you
- 21:10Speaker 4: looked at their schedule next year?
- 21:11Speaker 6: That's just what I was pulling up right now.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Their schedule next year is going to be the total
- 21:15Speaker 4: opposite of this year. They have like a murderer's row
- 21:17Speaker 4: of road games next year.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Yep, So like Lions, Chiefs, Chargers, I mean Bills. Obviously,
- 21:25Speaker 5: we'll see what AFC, NFC, AFC South and NFC West.
- 21:28Speaker 5: But you know, Packers here, Broncos here, Vikings here, AFC North,
- 21:33Speaker 5: team here.
- 21:34Speaker 2: It's a it's a tough schedule, it's going to be
- 21:36Speaker 2: I mean.
- 21:36Speaker 3: It's all the more reason why I would have been
- 21:38Speaker 3: more aggressive. But I want I.
- 21:41Speaker 4: Want them to be aggressive in the off season, like
- 21:43Speaker 4: because I want them to keep building talent on the roster.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Now, if that happens, then outsid'd rather you be aggressive
- 21:48Speaker 3: in the off season than do something at the trade deadline.
- 21:50Speaker 3: I would agree with you.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Because there's more that will happen. There's more of a
- 21:53Speaker 4: pool in the off season of guys available, all the
- 21:56Speaker 4: cre agents and all that kind of stuff. So if
- 21:59Speaker 4: you go out.
- 21:59Speaker 3: And and it only costs you money instead of draft picks,
- 22:02Speaker 3: and if I would totally rather do it that.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Way, shoot your gun in the in the trade deadline
- 22:07Speaker 4: because you're just going all in on this season.
- 22:10Speaker 3: I just I just think that the way this has been,
- 22:13Speaker 3: like I said at the very beginning, I'm not disappointed
- 22:17Speaker 3: necessarily that they didn't do anything. And I'm not here
- 22:19Speaker 3: to tell you like they dropped the ball I'm not
- 22:22Speaker 3: doing that because I don't think they dropped the ball.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I don't think there was a lot of opportunity for
- 22:26Speaker 3: them to do anything of any significance. I'm a little
- 22:29Speaker 3: surprised they didn't add a depth piece or two. That's
- 22:31Speaker 3: it me too. But the way it's being portrayed is
- 22:36Speaker 3: they had two choices, either forfeit the future for the
- 22:41Speaker 3: gratification now, or stick to the plan. And I just
- 22:46Speaker 3: don't think trading a Day three pick for an edge
- 22:49Speaker 3: rush depth piece is forfeiting the future, or trading you know,
- 22:55Speaker 3: for Jerome Ford or Tony Pollard or whoever. If Breese
- 22:59Speaker 3: Hall was too expensive, one of those other backs you know,
- 23:02Speaker 3: Jerome Ford may not. I don't think that would have
- 23:03Speaker 3: forfeited the future. I think you still stick to your
- 23:06Speaker 3: plan to do Evans thing, which I agree with Evan
- 23:09Speaker 3: ninety five percent of what he said. I agree with
- 23:12Speaker 3: you don't want to do anything to disrupt I wouldn't
- 23:14Speaker 3: even think of giving a first round pick for someone
- 23:17Speaker 3: who may or may not be here next year. That
- 23:19Speaker 3: doesn't make any sense to me. I wouldn't do that.
- 23:21Speaker 3: But I have four to six round picks.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I can't get something for them some of those.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the question there and because I agree
- 23:28Speaker 4: with you there's a happy medium here of like not
- 23:32Speaker 4: mortgaging the future but also investing in this team. I
- 23:35Speaker 4: think the question is, is you know we can just
- 23:38Speaker 4: use Jamal Jones for an example, is Jamont Jones a
- 23:41Speaker 4: much better player than Anthony Jennings, Because Anthony Jennings right
- 23:45Speaker 4: now is your third guy. So like Jamalt Jones is
- 23:47Speaker 4: going to come in and he's going to be your
- 23:48Speaker 4: third pass rusher. He's a better pass rusher than Anthony Jennings,
- 23:53Speaker 4: but Anthony jen is probably a better run defender. And like,
- 23:55Speaker 4: so do you think is it that much of an upgrade?
- 23:58Speaker 4: And I think that one of the things that they
- 23:59Speaker 4: look that with this deadline was the vibes in this
- 24:03Speaker 4: locker room are immaculate at the moment.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Yep.
- 24:06Speaker 3: So if you do think that was a factor, if
- 24:08Speaker 3: you were only going to make a marginal upgrade, but
- 24:13Speaker 3: it's going to upset the hierarchy of the depth chart
- 24:16Speaker 3: in a specific room.
- 24:18Speaker 4: For example, like if you got in trade for Rashid Shaheed,
- 24:21Speaker 4: now Pop Douglas is going to have It's the same role.
- 24:24Speaker 4: So Pop Douglas is now out of a job. And
- 24:27Speaker 4: we've all talked about how great that wide receiver room
- 24:30Speaker 4: has been and how much they've turned it around on
- 24:32Speaker 4: and off the field, And now you go ahead and
- 24:35Speaker 4: you start shaking things up. Is it worth it in
- 24:38Speaker 4: the short term for maybe a guy that's a little
- 24:40Speaker 4: bit better than Anfridy Jennings or someone that's a little
- 24:43Speaker 4: bit better than Terrell Jennings that running back, or you know,
- 24:47Speaker 4: whatever the case may be. I think that was a
- 24:49Speaker 4: big part of it too.
- 24:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I hear your point, Paul, for sure. I'd almost
- 24:52Speaker 5: you know, in terms of like trying to make a
- 24:53Speaker 5: little bit of a run. And I kind of said
- 24:55Speaker 5: this a little bit yesterday about protecting Drake, but I
- 24:58Speaker 5: think it's much about is there a spot where a
- 25:00Speaker 5: key injury could cause this season to devolve a little
- 25:03Speaker 5: bit and lose some of the energy that you have
- 25:05Speaker 5: and to me, protecting against that where a key injury
- 25:08Speaker 5: maybe a defensive end running back, Like it's not necessarily
- 25:11Speaker 5: a guy like you know, Tony Pollard who's going to
- 25:13Speaker 5: put you over the edge and now we can go
- 25:15Speaker 5: to Kansas City and win or whatever it might be
- 25:17Speaker 5: in the playoffs.
- 25:17Speaker 2: But it's more about totally.
- 25:19Speaker 5: If you know, if Ramandre is a long term situation,
- 25:22Speaker 5: is the run game going to totally devolve in that
- 25:24Speaker 5: Drake may season is now going to fall apart because
- 25:26Speaker 5: teams are just our teeing off on him. And now
- 25:27Speaker 5: we end this season feeling like Drake got the crap
- 25:30Speaker 5: beat out of him. We didn't have a running game,
- 25:32Speaker 5: you know, like that's what I want to avoid, but
- 25:34Speaker 5: not mortgaging the future, but protecting protecting the present.
- 25:37Speaker 3: And I like Evans's point, and I do think that
- 25:40Speaker 3: that was part of a big part of their rationale
- 25:44Speaker 3: going in, was they wanted to make sure that they
- 25:46Speaker 3: didn't do anything that was going to, you know, significatory
- 25:50Speaker 3: upset what's going on right now, because I think a
- 25:53Speaker 3: big part of their success is this is like what
- 25:58Speaker 3: is like the hole is greater than some of the parts.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Is that the cliche in this is what I think,
- 26:03Speaker 3: that's what this is.
- 26:04Speaker 2: If you just go a.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Player for player, you know, it's okay, yeah, but they're
- 26:08Speaker 3: playing much better than that. And I think part of
- 26:10Speaker 3: the reason for that is all of the celebration, all
- 26:12Speaker 3: of the culture, all of the buy in that you see.
- 26:15Speaker 2: The whole is greater than the some of the parts
- 26:17Speaker 2: that what you're trying to.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Say, that's what I said, That what I said, and
- 26:20Speaker 3: try to say it.
- 26:21Speaker 4: And if you go and you go start trading for
- 26:23Speaker 4: marginal up trade yeah, and you know, and it's not
- 26:26Speaker 4: we're not talking about trading for sauce Gardner talking about trading.
- 26:29Speaker 2: I just think those kinds of things.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Don't like if that Draymond And I don't know a
- 26:33Speaker 3: lot about Draymond Jones, to be honest with you, if
- 26:36Speaker 3: he's a little bit better than Anthony Jennings, I don't
- 26:38Speaker 3: think that upsets the apple car. You already tried to
- 26:40Speaker 3: basically give away Anthony Jennings. I don't think that's an
- 26:43Speaker 3: apple cart disrupting move. Rahii Rashid Harry Rashid Shahed could
- 26:52Speaker 3: be an example of what Evan's talking about, Like he
- 26:54Speaker 3: might knock somebody out of a role who's been playing
- 26:58Speaker 3: a lot and has embraced that role. That could be
- 27:01Speaker 3: something that cause you. Now, I'm not telling you that
- 27:03Speaker 3: would I wouldn't do it if I thought that that
- 27:06Speaker 3: made sense and that I thought that made me better.
- 27:08Speaker 3: But I do think Rabel Stretch, Elliott Wolf, Ryan Cowd
- 27:12Speaker 3: and I think these are these were factors I think
- 27:15Speaker 3: in some of these potential moves.
- 27:16Speaker 4: Yeah, like Anthony and Jennings might not like it would
- 27:18Speaker 4: more be like they had traded for Jalen Phillips and
- 27:21Speaker 4: now Chase On is out of a.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Starting cares that's different.
- 27:23Speaker 4: And Chason's been playing really well for them for like
- 27:26Speaker 4: about a month now. Yeah, and now all of a sudden,
- 27:29Speaker 4: you know you're you're a situational pass rusher on third
- 27:32Speaker 4: down only because we just traded a third round pick
- 27:34Speaker 4: for Jalen Phillips. Like that was probably a better example
- 27:37Speaker 4: than than Jennings and depth pieces and stuff like that.
- 27:40Speaker 4: But I I mean, we're in the locker room moth.
- 27:42Speaker 7: Like.
- 27:43Speaker 4: The vibes in the locker room are just it's a
- 27:46Speaker 4: total one to eighty from what it's been here the
- 27:47Speaker 4: last two years. And I give that all that credit
- 27:50Speaker 4: to Rabel me too. And so he has completely changed
- 27:54Speaker 4: the energy, Like you can just see it in all
- 27:55Speaker 4: the content that we put out, you know after games
- 27:58Speaker 4: and stuff like that. The way that these players are
- 28:01Speaker 4: are rallying like around him, and you know it's a
- 28:05Speaker 4: big thing.
- 28:06Speaker 3: But that I think that element has been more important
- 28:10Speaker 3: and more impressive than any x's and o's thing that
- 28:12Speaker 3: the coaching staff is done. And I'm not telling you
- 28:14Speaker 3: the coaching staff hasn't done a good job. I'm just
- 28:16Speaker 3: saying the buy in that they immediately got from from
- 28:20Speaker 3: that group, and I think they had some buy in
- 28:22Speaker 3: from gered MEO last year initially, and then they didn't win.
- 28:25Speaker 3: To you a point, right, so you lose the buy in.
- 28:27Speaker 3: You know, you say you're right, like you established this
- 28:30Speaker 3: and then you immediately show them, oh wait, it's working right,
- 28:34Speaker 3: we are winning process.
- 28:35Speaker 4: But even at one and two, like after the Steelers game,
- 28:38Speaker 4: like go to Miami, you could tell and it was
- 28:40Speaker 4: just kind of like, well, we turned the ball over
- 28:43Speaker 4: five times, and if we don't turn the ball over
- 28:45Speaker 4: five times, we would have won this game and blow up.
- 28:47Speaker 3: You know, it's fine. This is a propose of nothing,
- 28:50Speaker 3: as they say Matt Smith likes, I say, I propose
- 28:52Speaker 3: of nothing. The Colts went to Pittsburgh and turned it
- 28:56Speaker 3: over six times, and this season's over now. It was
- 28:59Speaker 3: the defining moment to turn the Patriots season around, like, oh,
- 29:02Speaker 3: they were actually better than Pittsburgh. They should have won
- 29:04Speaker 3: the game. They beat themselves. But you know, the Colt
- 29:07Speaker 3: they're done now. I don't know what they're doing with
- 29:09Speaker 3: the sauce guards they had.
- 29:10Speaker 2: To get saw.
- 29:11Speaker 3: I mean, everybody was killing them for that sauce guard
- 29:13Speaker 3: and I was like, I don't know.
- 29:14Speaker 5: I mean, if it would be kind of funny though,
- 29:16Speaker 5: halls on Daniel Jones to start looking like the Daniel
- 29:18Speaker 5: Jones that we came to know, and they're like, Oh, well.
- 29:21Speaker 4: That's what I'm fascinated because that's that's a fear that
- 29:24Speaker 4: kind of happened with Darnold.
- 29:25Speaker 3: It took a while to week seventeen to the end.
- 29:28Speaker 4: Yeah, but then at the end there and they kind
- 29:30Speaker 4: of they're kind of this year as Minnesota and like,
- 29:33Speaker 4: it's going to be interesting to see if if Daniel
- 29:35Speaker 4: Jones considered.
- 29:36Speaker 2: I want to transition over to Tampa Bay but be
- 29:39Speaker 2: first public service announcement, A Jay who's the president of
- 29:44Speaker 2: the Tampa Bay New England Patriots Fan Club uh sends
- 29:48Speaker 2: in a quick reminder to all listeners out there, especially
- 29:51Speaker 2: those who will be in Tampa over the weekend, that
- 29:53Speaker 2: we are hosting the largest Patriots road rally of the
- 29:56Speaker 2: season this Saturday, November eighth, from five five to seven
- 30:01Speaker 2: at sunset Rodeo, which is located at three oh two
- 30:04Speaker 2: South Howard Avenue. We'll have appearances by members of the
- 30:08Speaker 2: cheerleading team and the Patriots pat Patriot Lawrence Guy. Hopefully
- 30:12Speaker 2: Fred and Evan will make it out as well. He says,
- 30:15Speaker 2: we'll have a bunch of autograph items that will be
- 30:17Speaker 2: raffling off for charity. They're expecting a huge crowd, so
- 30:21Speaker 2: tell they're telling people to make sure they get there
- 30:23Speaker 2: early so they don't miss out. So again, that's at
- 30:26Speaker 2: the Sunset Rodeo, three oh two South Howard Avenue from
- 30:31Speaker 2: five to seven this Saturday. So it's gonna be a big,
- 30:35Speaker 2: big rally, So check it out Patriots fans who are
- 30:40Speaker 2: in Tampa.
- 30:41Speaker 5: Yeah, it sounds like it's gonna be huge. Patriots fans
- 30:44Speaker 5: contingent down there.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Yeah this week so, I mean it was big in
- 30:46Speaker 2: Nashville too, but this one's gonna be really really Yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 4: I think it's gonna be interesting because like Titans stink,
- 30:52Speaker 4: So like taking over an opponent stadium when the team
- 30:56Speaker 4: is one in six or whatever it was Tennessee was
- 30:59Speaker 4: is one thing, But taking over an opponent stadium when
- 31:01Speaker 4: the team is a playoff team that you're going to
- 31:04Speaker 4: would be that'd be pretty cool. I don't know if
- 31:06Speaker 4: that happens very often when you're go to a six
- 31:09Speaker 4: and two teams, you know, home game and it's half
- 31:11Speaker 4: Patriots fan.
- 31:12Speaker 5: Right, we need like some muskets to answer the cannon
- 31:15Speaker 5: shots from.
- 31:16Speaker 4: The You that's going to scare the crap out of me,
- 31:19Speaker 4: I know, going to be.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Like, well hopefully don't hear it all of Yeah, you know, Okay,
- 31:26Speaker 2: So let's talk about the Buccaneers. Yeah, let's start with
- 31:28Speaker 2: their injuries. I think that's today.
- 31:29Speaker 5: We just got a report that they didn't get a
- 31:32Speaker 5: lot of guys back. I mean, Chris Godwin is not
- 31:34Speaker 5: out there and Bucky Irving. Those are the two guys
- 31:36Speaker 5: that we kind.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Of start with.
- 31:37Speaker 5: So you know, they got to get healthy. But I
- 31:40Speaker 5: guess Baker Mayfield is top of the list. Then he's
- 31:43Speaker 5: just a really good player. I mean, I just I'm
- 31:45Speaker 5: so amazed by we talk about when we saw him.
- 31:49Speaker 5: We saw we have Mary Kay Cabot on when the
- 31:51Speaker 5: Browns were here, and we'd had her on back in
- 31:53Speaker 5: twenty one, when when Mayfield was here, and I was like,
- 31:56Speaker 5: I mean I saw him that time in person. I
- 31:58Speaker 5: was like this guy's done injured, we find out. Then
- 32:01Speaker 5: we saw him with Carolina a little bit when he's
- 32:03Speaker 5: like battling Donald here, which again is just so crazy
- 32:05Speaker 5: to me that.
- 32:06Speaker 2: That's just like factor.
- 32:10Speaker 8: In.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Mayfield didn't want them to get on the field and
- 32:13Speaker 3: now they're both like lighting it up.
- 32:15Speaker 6: Crazy but you know, great turnaround for him.
- 32:17Speaker 5: I mean, I love these stories in the NFL when
- 32:19Speaker 5: a player you rule for dead comes back and and
- 32:22Speaker 5: you know Sam Donald being at the forefront as well,
- 32:24Speaker 5: but you know, Mayfield, to me, it just seems like
- 32:26Speaker 5: he's so good late in the down and his ability
- 32:28Speaker 5: to scramble or his ability to make throws on the
- 32:30Speaker 5: run and keeping him contained and being able to you know,
- 32:34Speaker 5: finish him off in the pocket I think is just
- 32:36Speaker 5: a huge key this week. But no, Abuka looks really
- 32:39Speaker 5: good I me, and Rashad White is no slouch at
- 32:41Speaker 5: running back. So they've got some some pieces. Kate Auden's big,
- 32:44Speaker 5: big tight end made some catches for them. You know,
- 32:47Speaker 5: we'll see some of the ancillary receivers if they're able
- 32:50Speaker 5: to you know, contribute.
- 32:51Speaker 6: But it's a good team. They're a good team.
- 32:53Speaker 2: About Godwin, are they a different team?
- 32:55Speaker 4: Well, it's without Godwin, Evans and Bucky Earth.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Yeah, so I am the Millan.
- 33:00Speaker 5: I mean they're on there like fourth, fifth, sixth receiver
- 33:02Speaker 5: and they're still Okay.
- 33:03Speaker 4: I forgot about McMillan. Yeah, Baker's awesome, Like, Baker's great,
- 33:10Speaker 4: great arm talent, really strong arm, vertical passer, just great,
- 33:15Speaker 4: like fearless scrambler, one of the best scrambling quarterbacks in
- 33:19Speaker 4: the league. He's great, but he got no help right now.
- 33:23Speaker 4: I mean, their their skill positions are completely banged up.
- 33:26Speaker 4: Even at Buka's been kind of like in and out
- 33:29Speaker 4: a little bit. But right now they're rolling with Buka,
- 33:34Speaker 4: Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepherd as there are three receivers.
- 33:38Speaker 4: So that's not Evans, Godwin and Buka. You know, like
- 33:40Speaker 4: this is not what they were at the beginning of
- 33:42Speaker 4: the season, when Baker was in MVP discussions and stuff
- 33:45Speaker 4: like that. That group is, you know, last two weeks,
- 33:49Speaker 4: it's been a little bit tougher. So I do think
- 33:52Speaker 4: there is another week where man coverage matchups like Gonzales
- 33:56Speaker 4: On like Buka, like, you feel pretty good that you
- 33:59Speaker 4: you can at least stand in the middle of the
- 34:02Speaker 4: ring with it. I'm with Douce. You know lt in
- 34:04Speaker 4: the down scrambles. You know, that kind of stuff is
- 34:07Speaker 4: probably what is going to ultimately beat you if you
- 34:09Speaker 4: get beat in this game. Because Baker is he's fearless,
- 34:14Speaker 4: like he will run people over. You know.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Yeah, what do they have on defense that could post
- 34:19Speaker 2: problems everything?
- 34:20Speaker 4: Yeah, their defense is scares me more than their offense.
- 34:24Speaker 4: Tod Bowles runs one of the most blitz heavy schemes
- 34:27Speaker 4: in the league, always has. He comes after quarterbacks. You know,
- 34:32Speaker 4: great secondary. Antoine Winfield Junior is one of the best
- 34:36Speaker 4: safeties in the league. Jamal Dean's playing a really high level.
- 34:40Speaker 4: I was a big fan of Jacob Parrish in the
- 34:41Speaker 4: draft slot corner. He's playing a good having a good
- 34:45Speaker 4: rookie season. Vita Vea, you know that guy is as
- 34:49Speaker 4: good as any interior defensive tackle that they're going to
- 34:52Speaker 4: face all year. Yeah, this is as you know, They've
- 34:57Speaker 4: phaged three really good defenses in a row. Oh, there's
- 35:00Speaker 4: a lot of talk about the schedule and all that,
- 35:02Speaker 4: but this is Brown's Falcons. Bucks is three legitimate defenses
- 35:07Speaker 4: that they faced in a row. So this is going
- 35:09Speaker 4: to be another tough test.
- 35:11Speaker 6: For Drake headline for Drake.
- 35:12Speaker 5: I mean that's to me, that's, you know, a really
- 35:14Speaker 5: good opportunity for him to get back on track against
- 35:17Speaker 5: a good defense.
- 35:17Speaker 6: I mean it's I say good opportunity. I think it's
- 35:19Speaker 6: it's going to be a.
- 35:20Speaker 5: Tough challenge down there, but I'd love to see Drake
- 35:23Speaker 5: be able to bounce back and get away from what
- 35:26Speaker 5: you know Evan was talking about yesterday with the one
- 35:27Speaker 5: and run, like Kenny, hang in there, Kenny, you know,
- 35:31Speaker 5: manage the blitz, manage what's coming, understand what's coming, nowhere
- 35:34Speaker 5: to go with the ball. So it's going to be
- 35:37Speaker 5: a really good test for him on the road against
- 35:38Speaker 5: a really good defense.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:40Speaker 4: They run a lot of crazy pressures, and you know,
- 35:42Speaker 4: they'll show pressure from one place and they'll bring it
- 35:45Speaker 4: from another. And they really don't have any coverage tendencies
- 35:48Speaker 4: like they kind of.
- 35:49Speaker 2: I know, that's the dial in the middle of the packet.
- 35:52Speaker 5: Like everything every coverage man's own splits everything. It's just
- 35:55Speaker 5: it's hard to really get a statistical beat on what
- 35:58Speaker 5: they do.
- 35:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a it's a really good defense.
- 36:01Speaker 2: What's the early line two and a half? I think
- 36:04Speaker 2: Bucks are favorite.
- 36:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think I mean that was Monday. I
- 36:09Speaker 3: haven't looked the last couple of days. Yeah, I don't
- 36:12Speaker 3: know if that's moved.
- 36:13Speaker 2: So a lot of the houses have been calling me
- 36:15Speaker 2: telling me that, you know, the getting money at home
- 36:19Speaker 2: has been changed. You know, travel is better now these days,
- 36:23Speaker 2: and it's not so much a burden for teams, even
- 36:26Speaker 2: ones coming. So they're telling me to to tout you know,
- 36:30Speaker 2: more like two points sometimes a point and a half
- 36:33Speaker 2: for the home team. Oh it's changing.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean to me, it looks like with the Bucks,
- 36:38Speaker 4: you know, if they were healthy on offense, then I
- 36:41Speaker 4: think that they would be more prohibitive favorites in this game.
- 36:44Speaker 4: But without Evans and Godwin and Bucky Irving, it's just
- 36:47Speaker 4: not the same group that they had in the first
- 36:49Speaker 4: month of the season. So, you know, first six weeks,
- 36:52Speaker 4: he's averaging like twenty seven to twenty eight points a game.
- 36:54Speaker 2: They're still favored by a little So is that disrespect
- 36:57Speaker 2: to the Patriots. I'm sure you'll find it. Yeah. Oh
- 37:00Speaker 2: they hate us.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Uh, it's still two and a half according to draft.
- 37:04Speaker 4: Allow this disrespect.
- 37:06Speaker 5: He just mentioned Buck because he's still one of my
- 37:08Speaker 5: all time the Patriots, one of my all time hilarious,
- 37:11Speaker 5: like just scouting experiences of like watching Bucker in a
- 37:14Speaker 5: couple of years ago and be like.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Oh, he's good.
- 37:16Speaker 5: You know, he's explosive, like and then we get to
- 37:17Speaker 5: the combine, what do you run?
- 37:19Speaker 2: Like a four eight?
- 37:19Speaker 4: Yeah like that. Yeah, he is definitely like this was
- 37:24Speaker 4: already starting to go this way with running backs, but
- 37:26Speaker 4: like the forty yard dash for the running backs, a
- 37:28Speaker 4: lot of people are starting to just throw out like
- 37:30Speaker 4: as a event you can't play. Yeah, so yeah, he
- 37:35Speaker 4: was one of those. Kien Williams is another one that
- 37:37Speaker 4: ran a really slow forty times, an awesome NFL player,
- 37:41Speaker 4: So both those guys have been really good. Like Rashad
- 37:43Speaker 4: White's a good pass catching back, Like he's kind of
- 37:45Speaker 4: a you know, good act player, get out of the
- 37:47Speaker 4: backfield type of player, but he's not he's not buckier.
- 37:50Speaker 3: But he doesn't give you the home run potential.
- 37:52Speaker 2: That's what it is. The line has now changed to
- 37:55Speaker 2: Tampa minus three. Well within seconds, in seconds literally, I.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Think I think it was us us talking about it.
- 38:01Speaker 2: We just wish your ilk, But what do you think
- 38:07Speaker 2: about that? Is that just a money thing? I still
- 38:10Speaker 2: don't know they're trying to get England money coming in.
- 38:14Speaker 6: I think you've confused me on such an epic scale
- 38:17Speaker 6: thread that I just have.
- 38:17Speaker 2: No idea what it means anymore. When a line most
- 38:20Speaker 2: two and a half, here we go and go from
- 38:22Speaker 2: two and a half to three, the houses are saying
- 38:26Speaker 2: we need more new England money.
- 38:27Speaker 4: Sure, well it is weird because like the reports are
- 38:31Speaker 4: that they're getting nobody back right right right, move it.
- 38:35Speaker 2: It's weird, Yeah, weird.
- 38:36Speaker 4: I mean they might get go Decky back, but he's
- 38:38Speaker 4: going to come back off injured reserve and he hasn't
- 38:40Speaker 4: practiced or played in a month, like so it.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Might be still a week away anyway.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Yeah, right, So I don't know, but they're not getting
- 38:47Speaker 4: any of their skill players back. It doesn't sound like so.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Like I said, I I assuming that Gonzo's okay, which
- 38:54Speaker 4: he said he was after the game, but assuming that
- 38:56Speaker 4: he's okay, like if you put him on like Buca,
- 38:58Speaker 4: like I kind of like how they match up, Like
- 39:01Speaker 4: I don't really know where else he's gonna go.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Marcus John, I mean some speed on speed there, yeah, I.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Mean maybe Kate and gives him some problems, but he's
- 39:09Speaker 4: not like an explosive tight end he's got a chain
- 39:12Speaker 4: moving tight end.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so would you be taking the under on this game?
- 39:17Speaker 4: I don't know if I'm confident enough what the number
- 39:20Speaker 4: is under.
- 39:22Speaker 9: No.
- 39:22Speaker 6: I think that's a good that's a good qumber.
- 39:24Speaker 3: I'll look it up.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Okay, seem annoyed at this talk.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Like I'm just the whole disrespect thing.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I got him, I got him. You didn't know?
- 39:34Speaker 3: Yeah, if you say it for the bucks, like just
- 39:38Speaker 3: like a spread is a spread?
- 39:39Speaker 2: Like what do you mean?
- 39:41Speaker 3: Why is why does spreads have to mean something?
- 39:44Speaker 2: They always mean something.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Yeah, they mean like they're trying to get the betting
- 39:47Speaker 3: to be even. That's what it's all means.
- 39:49Speaker 2: That's what it means, right, But it means something. So
- 39:53Speaker 2: if you go from two and a half to three,
- 39:54Speaker 2: it means that money is you know, right, does it
- 39:57Speaker 2: mean something or doesn't matter? Or sometimes news comes out that,
- 40:00Speaker 2: you know what, players not coming back.
- 40:02Speaker 3: That's that's amazing. I literally just did the same thing,
- 40:05Speaker 3: clicked on the same link, and it is now three.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Like that forty eight and a half I would take
- 40:10Speaker 3: the under.
- 40:11Speaker 2: I take that that's a lot.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Forty eight and a half is the number.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Because Tampa's not really scoring like crazy eye that they had.
- 40:18Speaker 4: It was twenty three to three against.
- 40:19Speaker 2: They've been I think the last two weeks they've had.
- 40:23Speaker 4: No Baker lately, last two games is before they're by
- 40:26Speaker 4: Baker is only completing like fifty six percent of his passes.
- 40:29Speaker 4: They just their guys are hurt. Like it's not a hymn.
- 40:32Speaker 5: This is why the Seattle game that I want, that's
- 40:34Speaker 5: not that team anymore. But that was a toe to
- 40:37Speaker 5: toe thirty five, thirty four whatever it was, like, I mean,
- 40:40Speaker 5: just back and forth against each other.
- 40:41Speaker 2: And you know that's excess great. You know, obviously we
- 40:44Speaker 2: are not allowed to ever ever ever bet thinks, let
- 40:48Speaker 2: alone the NFL. But if you're out there and you
- 40:51Speaker 2: are someone who likes to dabble, be careful about this game.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Be careful.
- 40:56Speaker 4: Something's going on, That's what I mean. What is going on?
- 41:00Speaker 2: Something I have to wait for somebody from one of
- 41:04Speaker 2: the houses.
- 41:04Speaker 3: But you say that every single game, every single I
- 41:07Speaker 3: do not game. So I'm just curious, like what.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Is going on? When I think there's a spread that's
- 41:13Speaker 2: a little.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Bit okay, So what is fish about this spread?
- 41:17Speaker 2: I think it should be closer? Why because I think
- 41:20Speaker 2: the Patriots are.
- 41:21Speaker 3: A good team, and you don't think Tampa is a
- 41:23Speaker 3: good team.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Think they're both.
- 41:24Speaker 3: I think it's immense respect for the Patriots going on
- 41:26Speaker 3: the road with a team coming off it's by that
- 41:29Speaker 3: has won consistently as opposed to being the first time
- 41:32Speaker 3: they've won. And it's a three point spread, which you've
- 41:35Speaker 3: told me numerous times over the last fifteen years. It's
- 41:38Speaker 3: basically even because they're home.
- 41:39Speaker 2: I just told you that.
- 41:40Speaker 3: I know because you changed because the Patriots are not
- 41:42Speaker 3: underdogs by three on the road, So you're changing your
- 41:44Speaker 3: whole mentality of the last twenty years.
- 41:46Speaker 2: I'm getting information. I'm getting information, and I'm like you,
- 41:51Speaker 2: I'm not stubborn. I don't know. I don't dig my
- 41:55Speaker 2: heels in the sand on every take.
- 41:57Speaker 3: I often I often hitting it. I'm wrong. Don't tell
- 42:02Speaker 3: me that I don't.
- 42:04Speaker 6: It doesn't like Freddy the Greek.
- 42:06Speaker 2: It's just if some of Freddy the Greek.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Like every single game we do the same thing. It's like,
- 42:10Speaker 3: what is just like with Joe Murray, like this.
- 42:13Speaker 4: Smells fishing smells like.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Not every single game is I don't think it's every single.
- 42:20Speaker 4: But there's something the other night smelled a little bit
- 42:26Speaker 4: of fish face. Jalen Brown gets tripped on the ground,
- 42:29Speaker 4: I don't call it, and then they lose the game.
- 42:31Speaker 4: It smelled a little bit fishing.
- 42:32Speaker 3: So I would just say, like, all right, Houston, Philadelphia, Seattle,
- 42:39Speaker 3: San Francisco, Detroit, those are teams that Tampa's played to
- 42:43Speaker 3: get the same record as you. You have Buffalo that
- 42:47Speaker 3: are the only team of any close to any of
- 42:50Speaker 3: the caliber of those teams. So why is it so
- 42:51Speaker 3: out of the ordinary that maybe people look at Tampa's
- 42:54Speaker 3: being better than the Patriots.
- 42:56Speaker 4: That's why it's only three.
- 42:57Speaker 3: That's why it's only three, is exactly right.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Why they really don't respect us right well, respect, but
- 43:04Speaker 2: I think that creases. That's the disrespect.
- 43:06Speaker 3: The biggest thing you have going for you is I
- 43:09Speaker 3: think their offense, instead of scoring the thirty plus that
- 43:12Speaker 3: they scored a lot earlier in the year, as Mike said,
- 43:15Speaker 3: twenty nine, twenty five, thirty eight, thirty in a full
- 43:18Speaker 3: week stretch, then they lost all those receivers and it
- 43:21Speaker 3: was nine and twenty three. Yeah, Like, so their offense
- 43:25Speaker 3: is going the other way. If their offense was still
- 43:27Speaker 3: rolling like that, like Evan said, you probably would be
- 43:30Speaker 3: maybe a touchdown underdog in this game. I think that's
- 43:33Speaker 3: the biggest thing you have going yep, is that they're
- 43:36Speaker 3: not going to probably get this to be a shootout.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Another part of it, Baker Mayfield has a knee injury.
- 43:42Speaker 5: I mean he's been on the injury report too, so
- 43:43Speaker 5: that's something to watch the sea.
- 43:44Speaker 3: He's mildly inconsistent winning games.
- 43:48Speaker 4: His accuracy is interesting to me. Like the Detroit game,
- 43:54Speaker 4: he missed so many open receivers and he was awful
- 43:57Speaker 4: that night. I mean, he missed Tesz Johnson on a
- 43:59Speaker 4: cross route wide open for a touchdown to make that
- 44:03Speaker 4: game competitive, and he just airmailed one and like it
- 44:06Speaker 4: just he has weird like he's got a rocket for
- 44:09Speaker 4: an arm, but he's got these weird like bouts of inaccurate.
- 44:12Speaker 3: I just don't look as at Tampa, like when they
- 44:15Speaker 3: went to Buffalo, like I was like, that's gonna be
- 44:18Speaker 3: tough to win a Buffalo Buffalo is like a touchdown, Like,
- 44:20Speaker 3: I don't look at Tampa's good. Yeah, they're I think
- 44:23Speaker 3: they're very similar to the Patriots if they have a
- 44:25Speaker 3: good like they're a good record, like I could understand
- 44:27Speaker 3: like two and a half.
- 44:28Speaker 5: Three, Like yeah, just a little more established it. Yeah,
- 44:32Speaker 5: especially on the defensive side of the ball.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Actually have a.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Lot of experience on defense, and they have a Bowls
- 44:37Speaker 4: is a great defensive coordinator.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Is Larry fort the former linebacker. Yeah, that he's the
- 44:42Speaker 3: I know he's the he's the defensive coordinator. He's the guy.
- 44:45Speaker 3: Michigan guy yep, played for the Jets. I think Pittsburgh yep.
- 44:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:50Speaker 4: He Their defense is well designed, well executed, well everything offensively.
- 44:55Speaker 4: I think another thing that that's interesting about them is
- 44:57Speaker 4: they're on their third coordinator in three years because keeps
- 45:00Speaker 4: getting his coordinator's head coaching jobs. So they're on a
- 45:04Speaker 4: third head oc now. And I think over the last
- 45:07Speaker 4: couple of weeks, you know, I think it's injuries, but
- 45:09Speaker 4: I know a lot of locally in Tampa they're starting
- 45:11Speaker 4: to come after the offensive coordinator a little bit, but
- 45:15Speaker 4: I think that's mostly just him.
- 45:16Speaker 3: This is a very winnable game, Brad. This isn't like
- 45:19Speaker 3: like a lot of people went into Buffalo like, oh,
- 45:21Speaker 3: you know, I don't know, maybe they can win this one.
- 45:24Speaker 3: I know, this isn't that. If the Patriots win this game,
- 45:26Speaker 3: it's a good, solid win. I'm not saying it's not.
- 45:29Speaker 3: But it's not like this. Oh man, they shocked the
- 45:31Speaker 3: world stunning up set. Oh no, this is a very
- 45:34Speaker 3: winnable game.
- 45:35Speaker 7: No.
- 45:35Speaker 4: The only other thing I would say too about it
- 45:38Speaker 4: is I think that they might have a little bit
- 45:42Speaker 4: of an advantage in terms like of like in game coaching,
- 45:45Speaker 4: like Todd Bowls is not exactly the best in terms
- 45:49Speaker 4: of like all the stuff that Paul always brings up
- 45:51Speaker 4: on Tuesdays, like managing the clock and like the game
- 45:55Speaker 4: situation and like all like it's he's a really really
- 45:59Speaker 4: good defensive coordinator, really good at designing defense. But if
- 46:03Speaker 4: he gets into a battle of wits with Mike Rabel
- 46:05Speaker 4: and it's like a close game late and they both
- 46:07Speaker 4: have to make like some you know, in game decision
- 46:09Speaker 4: making type of things, I would go advantage Patriots there
- 46:13Speaker 4: for sure.
- 46:14Speaker 5: One other things, just real quick, Fred that I picked
- 46:16Speaker 5: up two punts blocked, one for a touchdown, a field
- 46:19Speaker 5: goal attempt blocked for a touchdown as well. They've had
- 46:21Speaker 5: some they've had some special teams miscues which maybe you know,
- 46:24Speaker 5: in the margins might be a place Patriots could take advantage.
- 46:26Speaker 2: All right, well, let's have you joined the discussion. Eight
- 46:30Speaker 2: five to five Pats five hundred is the Hotline podcast
- 46:33Speaker 2: at Patriots dot com as the email address. What do
- 46:35Speaker 2: you think of the disrespect both from the betting world
- 46:39Speaker 2: and and in the trade market teams not willing to
- 46:42Speaker 2: do business with you? Fred towards Paul because nobody wants
- 46:46Speaker 2: to be the team that helped the Patriots regain their greatness, right.
- 46:49Speaker 4: I agree with you, Fred, yep.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Now that's funny.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Spread things is nonsensoral, that's fun No one wants to
- 46:59Speaker 3: trade with the Patriots to make them better.
- 47:02Speaker 4: I agree, agreed.
- 47:04Speaker 2: Let's start with HERM and DC. What's up herm?
- 47:08Speaker 10: Hey, what's going on?
- 47:09Speaker 2: Fellows?
- 47:09Speaker 8: How you doing.
- 47:11Speaker 2: The defensive court? Quick question?
- 47:17Speaker 10: No, quick question? So to win the game, there's a
- 47:21Speaker 10: little bit of disappointment slash surprise, as Paul says surrounding
- 47:26Speaker 10: the trade out line that we didn't make it moves
- 47:29Speaker 10: but doesn't affect that the Bills, uh still pat obviously,
- 47:34Speaker 10: the Jets subtracted and Dolphin and the Dolphins maybe guys
- 47:39Speaker 10: still a little better considering I think it was one
- 47:42Speaker 10: of the coach variables his goals to win a division,
- 47:46Speaker 10: which I think is still full in play at this point.
- 47:50Speaker 10: And I'll take it off there.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Okay.
- 47:52Speaker 4: So I think it's interesting because I often think about
- 47:55Speaker 4: those goals because his first checkpoint was take advantage of
- 47:58Speaker 4: bad football?
- 48:00Speaker 3: Why you want a game Sunday?
- 48:01Speaker 4: I think we were there.
- 48:02Speaker 2: I think we've done that absolutely.
- 48:03Speaker 4: His second checkpoint was when the division. His third checkpoint
- 48:07Speaker 4: was host home playoff game, which I guess kind of
- 48:08Speaker 4: goes hand in hand with the division, and then compete
- 48:11Speaker 4: for championships Like that was sort of the the how
- 48:16Speaker 4: how far have they gotten?
- 48:18Speaker 11: Like?
- 48:18Speaker 4: Are they just at take advantage of bad football? Because
- 48:21Speaker 4: they are deadline signals to me that they feel like
- 48:23Speaker 4: that's just where they are. They might win the division anyways,
- 48:27Speaker 4: just because of the way it's set up for them,
- 48:29Speaker 4: but they they might feel like they're not really in
- 48:31Speaker 4: that compete for championships category yet.
- 48:35Speaker 2: I mean, it's lining up for that Buffalo game.
- 48:37Speaker 6: I mean, I don't I don't want to look ahead,
- 48:38Speaker 6: you know, I don't want to want to look ahead.
- 48:39Speaker 3: It wasn't that the meeting this week. You can look ahead.
- 48:42Speaker 3: There was no one there to keep us grounded.
- 48:44Speaker 2: You know that, right, yeah, speech.
- 48:49Speaker 4: There's nothing, there was no like you know what, fact,
- 48:52Speaker 4: keep your eye on the ball.
- 48:53Speaker 2: There's not everyone has their own style.
- 48:55Speaker 5: But you know, even if you go to and one
- 48:57Speaker 5: over these next three, I mean not asking a lot,
- 48:59Speaker 5: I don't think to you know, maybe, I mean, Cincinnati
- 49:01Speaker 5: probably gonna have to put some points on the board
- 49:03Speaker 5: against those guys. But you know, you go to and
- 49:05Speaker 5: one over these three, you get the bye week, there's
- 49:07Speaker 5: gonna be a lot of hype. The Bills are probably
- 49:09Speaker 5: gonna win. I mean very well. Could be adding up
- 49:11Speaker 5: that you know for sure that it will be for
- 49:14Speaker 5: the division, but it's probably gonna feel like it when
- 49:16Speaker 5: we go into that I'm gonna.
- 49:17Speaker 3: Just gonna be pretty cool. I'm going into that game
- 49:19Speaker 3: thinking to myself, that's for the division.
- 49:21Speaker 2: So I heard something that that game can't be flexed
- 49:25Speaker 2: to a night game because we've already had a night
- 49:29Speaker 2: game with that opponent. I'd never heard this rule.
- 49:33Speaker 3: I had not heard of that, but it would make sense.
- 49:35Speaker 4: Yeah, that does check out.
- 49:37Speaker 2: That's good.
- 49:37Speaker 5: So you're gonna have a you know, a December ball
- 49:40Speaker 5: Baltimore is the one way then you've got to go
- 49:42Speaker 5: to Baltimore or that you could flex that.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Two right right right, yes, saying yeah, but it would be.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Interesting if the Patriots keep winning, they're gonna want to
- 49:50Speaker 3: get that. I mean, the Patriots are a huge market
- 49:53Speaker 3: for the for the league. They're going to want to
- 49:55Speaker 3: get the Patriots in that prime time if they can't
- 49:58Speaker 3: if they you know, if they're I don't know, ten
- 50:02Speaker 3: and three, why wouldn't you want to get them on
- 50:05Speaker 3: TV more?
- 50:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you know in those windows.
- 50:08Speaker 3: And I think you mean Drake May is an m
- 50:10Speaker 3: VP candidate.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 50:11Speaker 5: Baltimore is right after Buffalo, right, so it's like, you know,
- 50:14Speaker 5: you happen to win that game, I mean, you got
- 50:15Speaker 5: to keep it rolling against probably a Ravens team that
- 50:18Speaker 5: I'm assuming at that point is making a push and
- 50:21Speaker 5: is you know, playing better and you know.
- 50:23Speaker 3: That still healthy. That's a good point that Evan makes.
- 50:27Speaker 3: That's a candidate to go together the soup.
- 50:31Speaker 4: Drake May is like stardom is and it's not just locally,
- 50:34Speaker 4: like he is a superstar nationally at this point. And
- 50:38Speaker 4: I think it's his playing style, Like I think it's
- 50:40Speaker 4: just you know, he just is so fun to watch
- 50:42Speaker 4: because of how you know, explosive the offense is with
- 50:45Speaker 4: him at quarterback, and like it's not just us, like
- 50:48Speaker 4: the national media is falling over themselves.
- 50:50Speaker 3: Over every week. Every week that they're like effusive.
- 50:53Speaker 6: It's just like the down the downfield pass.
- 50:57Speaker 3: Like it's not like I'm not saying it's the same,
- 50:59Speaker 3: but like it's Mahomes and Allen. It's like he's running around,
- 51:03Speaker 3: he's making plays, He's making these throws down the field
- 51:05Speaker 3: that not everybody can do.
- 51:06Speaker 2: It's exciting. Yeah.
- 51:07Speaker 5: That Buffalo game too, is like a couple of I
- 51:09Speaker 5: mean everybody, of course, but everybody saw it because it
- 51:12Speaker 5: was on that national.
- 51:14Speaker 4: When you have a quarterback that's just physically talented as
- 51:17Speaker 4: he is, and then their top five in the league
- 51:19Speaker 4: and explosive play raids, so like you're watching an offense
- 51:21Speaker 4: that just every weekmakers and it's just everybody's just he's
- 51:26Speaker 4: an absolute superstar.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Uh.
- 51:28Speaker 2: Francisco is in North Carolina. Hey, Francisco fan Cicco, Francisco
- 51:36Speaker 2: run Cisco. Right, So that's a fun Francis.
- 51:39Speaker 4: It was fun guy, have fun.
- 51:41Speaker 7: All right?
- 51:42Speaker 3: I agree with you a little touch today, Like I
- 51:44Speaker 3: didn't care about where you're.
- 51:46Speaker 2: Going, Evan going to see rabel I thought he was
- 51:50Speaker 2: at one o'clock. Yeah, it's it's it's you got ten
- 51:53Speaker 2: minutes don't leave us. You gotta catch a an uber
- 51:56Speaker 2: to get over there.
- 51:57Speaker 1: What are you doing? Why didn't you make any move?
- 52:02Speaker 2: You don't want to win? All right, he's out. Let's
- 52:06Speaker 2: go to Monroe in North Carolina. Hey, Monroe, Roe, Monroe,
- 52:12Speaker 2: one roll. Good job, Ray, it was only like fifty minutes. Okay,
- 52:18Speaker 2: how about we go to Fresno. Cody's and Fresno Hey Cody.
- 52:23Speaker 9: Hey, guys, thanks for taking the call.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Sure.
- 52:25Speaker 9: A couple of thoughts and observations I wanted to share
- 52:27Speaker 9: with you over the course of the season. I think
- 52:32Speaker 9: you guys have mentioned it. We start a little slow
- 52:35Speaker 9: in regards to giving up descriptive drive from the other team,
- 52:39Speaker 9: But on Sunday it was kind of the opposite. First
- 52:42Speaker 9: half we did well and we went down the field,
- 52:44Speaker 9: but the second half we kind of fell apart and
- 52:46Speaker 9: let the team come back.
- 52:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:48Speaker 9: So from what I've seen, it's kind of been a
- 52:50Speaker 9: tail of the two halves for the whole year.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Yep.
- 52:52Speaker 9: And I'm wondering what the reason for that is. The
- 52:55Speaker 9: other question or the other thought I had is, excuse me.
- 53:01Speaker 9: A lot of times when we're playing these teams, I
- 53:03Speaker 9: feel like they get a lot of injuries, They get
- 53:06Speaker 9: banged up, and it seems like the effort and toughness
- 53:10Speaker 9: that the team plays with is too much to handle.
- 53:12Speaker 9: I don't know what it is exactly, but I noticed
- 53:15Speaker 9: a lot of injuries for our opponents when we play them.
- 53:17Speaker 3: So I'm wondering what heading into the games, Well, we
- 53:21Speaker 3: beat them up to I know what you're saying. I mean,
- 53:23Speaker 3: the Patriots lost a lot more players during that game
- 53:25Speaker 3: the other day than Atlanta did. But we're tougher, right,
- 53:29Speaker 3: Patriots had like four or five guys leave that game
- 53:31Speaker 3: the other day. The Falcons had a couple to the lineman.
- 53:35Speaker 3: I think the guard got hurt early in the game
- 53:38Speaker 3: on Yeah, but I think the injuries are more so
- 53:41Speaker 3: teams are banged up heading into games.
- 53:45Speaker 9: What are you saying, Cody, I was going to say,
- 53:49Speaker 9: sometimes during the games, at least the one the dark Seam,
- 53:52Speaker 9: the teams that get banged up, those players are like
- 53:54Speaker 9: out for the game. A lot of times are players
- 53:56Speaker 9: when we get banged up. Fortunately, we've been We've been lucky.
- 53:59Speaker 9: Major injuries. Yeah, yeah, we've been major injuries. We'll get
- 54:03Speaker 9: banged up a movie.
- 54:06Speaker 3: I just said, we're lucky. They had guys leave the
- 54:09Speaker 3: game the other day.
- 54:10Speaker 2: I know. But overall in the season, you have to
- 54:12Speaker 2: admit we've been pretty good with injuries.
- 54:14Speaker 3: We've been excellent with injuries. I don't really see a
- 54:16Speaker 3: correlation like the in game injuries, Like I.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Haven't really clocked it.
- 54:20Speaker 3: I don't think it's.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Like all right, coach, it's like hang in there. So
- 54:25Speaker 2: it's the.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Point other than to say what you said.
- 54:29Speaker 2: Luck, Yeah, we've been pretty lucky to.
- 54:31Speaker 5: His first point, though, that was a funny part of
- 54:33Speaker 5: Rabel's press conference on Monday, where he kind of was like,
- 54:36Speaker 5: for those of you want to.
- 54:36Speaker 2: Know, I'd much rather prefer to have a slow first
- 54:39Speaker 2: drive and.
- 54:39Speaker 3: Finished, rather get a touchdown on the first drive and
- 54:41Speaker 3: shut him out the rest of the way than what
- 54:43Speaker 3: happened on Sunday.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Right now, now his thing about like why haven't be
- 54:47Speaker 2: able to put sixty minutes together? I think a lot
- 54:51Speaker 2: of it has to do with, you know, with matchups
- 54:55Speaker 2: and other teams making you know, us making adjustments to
- 54:58Speaker 2: make bad into good. But I think in this case,
- 55:01Speaker 2: I think Atlanta made some good adjustments in the second
- 55:04Speaker 2: half to give us trouble. Each game is a little
- 55:07Speaker 2: bit different, I think to say oh, this is the
- 55:10Speaker 2: reason why they haven't put sixty minutes together. And that's
- 55:13Speaker 2: it's one reason. I think. It's every game has its
- 55:16Speaker 2: own reason. Yeah, you know, like last game, that play
- 55:19Speaker 2: with Drake changed everything. You know, if he doesn't make that,
- 55:23Speaker 2: I'm not sure that we're in a battle at the
- 55:25Speaker 2: end of that game. But so every game you have
- 55:29Speaker 2: to look at every game in its own context. I think, yeah,
- 55:32Speaker 2: I think that's a good way to put it.
- 55:34Speaker 5: And I continue just to struggle to really get a
- 55:36Speaker 5: beat on the defense. Like I believe in their run
- 55:38Speaker 5: defense now, I really do like that's something I think
- 55:40Speaker 5: is a truth. But as we talked about yesterday, there's
- 55:43Speaker 5: just you know, something doesn't quite add up. And you know,
- 55:46Speaker 5: Evan's kind of theory is that it's some of the
- 55:49Speaker 5: coverage stuff.
- 55:50Speaker 2: But I just I don't know, still don't know what.
- 55:54Speaker 5: To think of this defense when it comes down to
- 55:56Speaker 5: it against a good quarterback and I got to have
- 55:57Speaker 5: it moment and are they going to be the.
- 55:59Speaker 2: Defense of it?
- 56:00Speaker 1: Is?
- 56:00Speaker 2: That's the NFL, you know, that's why most games are
- 56:04Speaker 2: one score or less, you know, eight points or less.
- 56:07Speaker 3: Eb and flow Fred's point is right, it's probably something
- 56:11Speaker 3: different from game to game. I think Mike makes a
- 56:16Speaker 3: good point of having a hard time getting a read
- 56:18Speaker 3: on the defense. Offensively, to me, has been much bigger
- 56:22Speaker 3: fluctuation from half to half. The Miami game they did
- 56:26Speaker 3: very little in the second half, the Tennessee game, very
- 56:28Speaker 3: little in the second half. New Orleans very little in
- 56:30Speaker 3: the second half. This game, Atlanta nothing in the second half,
- 56:36Speaker 3: Raiders nothing in the second half. The Cleveland game is
- 56:40Speaker 3: nothing in the first half, and then they had a
- 56:42Speaker 3: great second half offensively. So I think it just kind
- 56:46Speaker 3: of speaks to Evan's point about not necessarily wanting to
- 56:50Speaker 3: embrace the trade deadline and going all in. They kind
- 56:53Speaker 3: of know what they are. They don't have quite enough
- 56:57Speaker 3: to do any of this for sixty minutes, and they
- 57:00Speaker 3: know it, and I think they're coaching their asses off
- 57:04Speaker 3: to get what they're getting out of what they have.
- 57:08Speaker 3: And it's hard to just, you know, scheme up a
- 57:11Speaker 3: pop Douglas play like that for sixty full minutes. You
- 57:14Speaker 3: know they've been able to do it. You know they
- 57:17Speaker 3: did it coming out of the halftime break against Cleveland,
- 57:19Speaker 3: But all those other games they had really good first
- 57:22Speaker 3: halfs offensively and kind of slowed down a little bit
- 57:24Speaker 3: in the second half. Yeah, because I think once to
- 57:27Speaker 3: Fred's point, once the other team sort of figures it
- 57:29Speaker 3: out a little bit, sometimes they have as much talent
- 57:33Speaker 3: as you, if not more, and they're able to neutralize you,
- 57:36Speaker 3: even as well as Drake May has played.
- 57:38Speaker 2: Yeah, remember that.
- 57:39Speaker 3: That's a very simplistic way of looking at the conversation.
- 57:41Speaker 5: I think we had last year, We've had it from
- 57:42Speaker 5: time to time, But just how many actual really good
- 57:44Speaker 5: defenses are there in the league that are consistently every
- 57:47Speaker 5: week they show up sixty minutes. It's you know, it's
- 57:50Speaker 5: I think this is kind of how the league is
- 57:52Speaker 5: to some extent, And that's part of my that's unsure
- 57:55Speaker 5: because I do think that, you know, if you were
- 57:57Speaker 5: to get into a playoff game, I can sell myself
- 58:00Speaker 5: on yeah, it's going to be back and forth and
- 58:02Speaker 5: they're going to give up some points, but when it
- 58:04Speaker 5: comes down to the final five minutes of the game,
- 58:06Speaker 5: I feel pretty good about Milton Williams and Christian Barmore
- 58:09Speaker 5: and those guys being the kind of guys that can
- 58:11Speaker 5: finish the game.
- 58:12Speaker 6: Now, do I know they're going to do it?
- 58:13Speaker 5: No, But I'll this is kind of how NFL defense
- 58:16Speaker 5: is now too, you know.
- 58:17Speaker 2: Yep, Anthony's in Seattle. Hey, Anthony, Hey.
- 58:21Speaker 12: What's uping to people?
- 58:22Speaker 2: Hey?
- 58:23Speaker 12: Hey, so I've been sending in the PFW Mott covers
- 58:27Speaker 12: ever since you gouts on the college came with that idea,
- 58:29Speaker 12: and I had I had a headline all ready. If
- 58:34Speaker 12: the game had played out the way it looked like
- 58:35Speaker 12: it was going to play out, it was going to
- 58:37Speaker 12: be doing the Birds dirty. But of course, you know,
- 58:41Speaker 12: the game turned on his head and there was another
- 58:42Speaker 12: drake who was the start.
- 58:43Speaker 2: Of the game.
- 58:43Speaker 12: So I kind of leaned into that, but it was
- 58:45Speaker 12: it was half parted. I sent it int Alex, but
- 58:47Speaker 12: just let her know I no offense if it's if
- 58:49Speaker 12: it doesn't make the newsletter, because it did. Wasn't my best, Okay.
- 58:55Speaker 12: I wanted to talk a little bit about Josh McDaniels.
- 58:58Speaker 12: I've been kind of noticing so, you know how you
- 59:01Speaker 12: kind of look at him Bill a little bit different,
- 59:03Speaker 12: the further he's removed from having top Tom Brady.
- 59:06Speaker 2: At his hips.
- 59:08Speaker 12: I'm having that same effect with Josh McDaniels, but in
- 59:11Speaker 12: a good way, and I'm starting to really look at
- 59:14Speaker 12: him like man like like if you look at like
- 59:16Speaker 12: the version of Cam Newton he had to work with,
- 59:18Speaker 12: then you know, Max Jones, rookie year, another feather in
- 59:21Speaker 12: his cap, and then Drake May who's you know, you
- 59:24Speaker 12: could argue he's probably the most talented quarterback he's had
- 59:27Speaker 12: to work with. But then okay, that that might be
- 59:31Speaker 12: the case, but this is no you know, run of
- 59:33Speaker 12: the mill year two jump. This is like, this kid's
- 59:36Speaker 12: an MVP candidate. This is like like like dramatic what
- 59:40Speaker 12: he's doing. And I'm looking at Josh like, man, you know,
- 59:44Speaker 12: I didn't know he was this good. And you know,
- 59:47Speaker 12: I'm not as convinced anymore that that he's not gonna
- 59:52Speaker 12: get another third head coaching opportunity somewhere. Just you know
- 59:56Speaker 12: that it's it's it's it's he's got a strong resume
- 59:59Speaker 12: out there, so a certain a.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Head coach in the college.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: It's interesting I brought that up a few weeks ago,
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: I think with on my show with with Mike and
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Tony and I may have we may have talked about
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: it here too. I would have told you heading into
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: the season, regardless of how well Josh McDaniels does, he's done,
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: he had two, not just too bad. He had two
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: disasters as a head coach. Now, there are plenty of
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: examples of guys that get more than two chances for
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: whatever reason, and they're not guys that you think of,
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: like you know, Pete Carroll's one of them, and he's
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: had obviously a lot of success, But like guys like
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: Norv Turner who basically didn't really do it all three times,
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: Wade Phillips, you know some guys like that. I think
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: Anthony makes a good point when you look at just
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: how much better Drake Matt. Now I've been on Mike
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: and I kind of bickered about this on a postgame
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: show and we did a trash talk for it on
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: the TV show. I give a lot more credit to
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Drake May, but it's inarguable that Josh McDaniels has had
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: an enormous impact positive impact on.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: I mean, and if you're looking at seasons that Josh
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: kind of proved himself without Tom Brady, you have to
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: include that Cam Newton season too. That was the corpse
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: of Cam Newton and what they won nine games or
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: something that that that year.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: Seven, But they were terrible and there was terrible.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: A lot they won games with this guy who like
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: was washed immediately. It was more than Cam Newton.
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: It was that was a terrible team, you know, I mean,
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: it's terrible, but I like, I don't. I mean, I
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: give Josh a lot of credit to but I also
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: want to see how this finishes up, because this is
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: where offensive coordinators earn their money. It's not when you
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: spring something new on the league and you have some
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: success at the beginning. It's about what happens when they
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: catch up. What happens when they catch up. Drake May's
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: coming off the tough game, Drake May felt sped.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Up again for the first time in a couple of
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: months now.
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: So this is where you know, this is we're talking
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: to the Patriots have a chance at the division. Well
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: do they continue to peak and rise or do they
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: kind of level off and Drake May returns to earth.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: I'm sure there'll be some element of that. He's not
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: going to play at the level he played at a
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: couple of weeks ago consistently. But this is to me
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: where you prove it. So I appreciate what he's saying
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: and then give credit to both those guys. And it's
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: been great, but let's see how it looks in November and.
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: Yet not yet, not yet, Okay, But I do think
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Anthony's point is not out of the realm of possibility.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: Do I expect him to get another job. No, I don't.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: But I would have said there's a zero percent chance
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: heading into the season. I don't put it at zero anymore.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: And I think Fred's point about college is also, yeah,
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: if the right kind of opportunity came up. I know
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: he loves this area. He doesn't want to take his
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: kids out of here. That's why I would put it
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: at a very small percentage. I just wants to stay here.
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: I know that's and that's when I look at when
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: I look at him, and he just seems so like
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: you know, new age Josh.
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: He seems relaxed.
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: He seems like he has this young quarterback and I
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: just he's never going to tell the media. And I'm
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: sure everyone wants to ask him this, but you know,
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: for him, like it's easy to say, I could imagine
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: him being like, man, I got it made, like I
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: you know, I can sit here with Drake may re
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: establish myself as you know, an all time New England
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: Patriot coach as an offensive coordinator.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Yes, but at the same time, like.
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: Go get some super bowls, go get go answer some
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: of these people that you know felt like, oh it
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: was all Tom, or it was all Bill.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: I mean, Josh, you.
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: Know not no one's ever going to give him all
- 1:03:12Speaker 6: the credit.
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: But I think he can continue to really cement his
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: legacy as one of the greatest Patriots coaches of all
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: time if he does this again with with Drake May
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: and wins playoff games with him.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Brady writes in New England Transplant, who has Bucks season tickets?
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Since it sounds like you about twenty twenty one, Tom
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Brady can assure you it does not matter how well
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: the Bucks are playing. Other teams take over Raymond James
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: every week. Really obviously late in the fall, with the
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: weather being great here compared to the North, that factors
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: in for fans traveling down, but it goes beyond that.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: So far this season, I would estimate the crowds have
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: been thirty five percent Jets fan, fifty percent Eagles fan.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: For that game nine ers, I'm estimating between forty and
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: fifty per Patriots fans. Yeah, well, it's supposed to be huge.
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: I talked to I told you my my ticket contact
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: within it. By far and away, the people in Tampa
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: have told us that, by far and away, this is
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: the most visiting fan ticket request they've gotten, and it
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: makes sense, Like, but what you're talking about San Francisco
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: might be a little bit of an outlier. But the
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: Jets and Philly people from that this area, they go
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: down to Florida, they want to do it. And I
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: know those games were earlier in the year, but it's
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: still much better down there than what we had lastly.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: Evan is correct about the Bucks defense. If you're going
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: to score on them, you better start early. Bowles makes
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: incredible in game adjustments and gives quarterbacks trouble.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's good. That's good intel all around. I
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: do expect there to be a lot of Patriots fans,
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: based on what I've been told, a lot of Patriots
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: fans in Tampa.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Chad's not happy at Chad Chad, Chad Chad, because I
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: get pessimistic at times. That being said, the lack of
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: any moves at all yesterday was kind of confusing and troubling.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: Do they not think that they're good enough of a
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: contender to bother to add anyone, or do they honestly
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: think they can sustain with what they have. Either way,
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: it doesn't sit well with me.
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: Yeah, well I think I think they tried.
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: I need more information.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: Takes two to tango.
- 1:05:09Speaker 13: Yeah, do you know they tried? Yeah, Tennessee, how do
- 1:05:14Speaker 13: you know that they tried? I was told, okay, that's
- 1:05:17Speaker 13: what I asked, do you know? And I said yes,
- 1:05:20Speaker 13: But I wanted to know why.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: It was just afraidism.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: No, it's just like a lot of moving thing.
- 1:05:24Speaker 7: Or we.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Were told the person we wanted wasn't going to be traded,
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: and then they weren't going to trade him, and then
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: they traded him. All right, Well, rivalry back on them.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: Maybe they didn't want to trade what they didn't want
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: to give what Baltimore gave.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: I don't know. No, No, we were told not trading them,
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: m okay yeah, and then I tell him they didn't
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: believe me. So I don't know. I don't know what
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: to say.
- 1:05:51Speaker 14: The lines back down to two and a half.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: You can feel the line moving talking about it.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: It's magic.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Moneys are listening right. There's a lot of money changing
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: hands right now.
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: Like some kid making ten dollars an hour. That's like, yeah,
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: two point five.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: Oh, man, imagine that.
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: I just That's why I'm like sometimes I think when
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: we watch some of the like the gambling ads and stuff,
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: I'm like, I'm just kind of glad that I'm being
- 1:06:19Speaker 5: saved for myself that I just can't even really consider
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: it because it just seems like once I start doing it,
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: you know, like watching the Bruins last night, like things
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: like that, Like I feel like it'd be so easy, like, yeah,
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: give me a three.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: You watch like Bruins last night? How do you do that?
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: I got, I got, I got a fool, I got
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: a fubo. Now you can I tell you how much
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: I hate the Bruins. I'm really I really don't like
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: them right now.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: I hate the defense.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: We're hot. I know that's because the best defenseman's hurt.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: I hate I hate the door off, the door off.
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: I hate what's this space?
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Linholm?
- 1:06:47Speaker 9: That guy?
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Oh I like Hampus Campus, I like him. I don't
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: like that, And it's because I see a little too
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: much of myself on it. Did you see did you
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: see last night he had a play with the power
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: play and they do that thing where they bring it
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: up and then they pass it back to the lake
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: guy and he passed it back to the other team at.
- 1:07:03Speaker 7: Breakout.
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: I don't know why that became such a thing, but
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: everybody does it.
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: Well it's fine if you don't. Just don't give to
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: the other team hampus because now they're going in. I
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: know they're defense bug.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 1:07:15Speaker 7: Fantastic.
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: Talked about doing your due diligence regarding trades.
- 1:07:23Speaker 9: I'm wondering were you.
- 1:07:25Speaker 7: Close to making What did I say on Monday? Because
- 1:07:27Speaker 7: I forgot I.
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: Said you were going to due diligence.
- 1:07:32Speaker 15: So I'm wondering were you close to making any deals?
- 1:07:36Speaker 11: And is there any measure of disappointment?
- 1:07:39Speaker 16: Well, first, I would say that deals are like being pregnant.
- 1:07:42Speaker 16: You either are or you aren't. There's no like. It's
- 1:07:45Speaker 16: either a deal or it's not. So I don't know
- 1:07:47Speaker 16: how close you can be. I know that everyone worked hard,
- 1:07:52Speaker 16: that we investigated and looked in and made phone calls,
- 1:07:57Speaker 16: and they what personnel departments, and in the end, you know,
- 1:08:04Speaker 16: we decided that this was what we were going to
- 1:08:06Speaker 16: do and decided to move forward with our preparation.
- 1:08:09Speaker 7: Tampa excellent football team coming off of BUYE.
- 1:08:14Speaker 16: A lot of really good veterans that have played at
- 1:08:16Speaker 16: a high level for a lot of years in a
- 1:08:20Speaker 16: really really competitive quarterback who's never out of it.
- 1:08:23Speaker 7: So, you know, that's where our focus is.
- 1:08:26Speaker 16: I know that there's a lot of action and a
- 1:08:28Speaker 16: lot of talk, and again, it's kind of where we're at.
- 1:08:32Speaker 17: We called it all for the organization to sort of
- 1:08:34Speaker 17: adhere to its plan when you guys are performing the
- 1:08:38Speaker 17: wait you're performing right.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: Now the top of the division and feel the top of.
- 1:08:41Speaker 17: The conference, just to be a little bit more aggressive
- 1:08:43Speaker 17: to try to capitalize on what's happening now.
- 1:08:47Speaker 7: No, I never really looked at it that way.
- 1:08:49Speaker 16: I think we're trying to build a program, the same
- 1:08:51Speaker 16: thing that we said when we got here, and I
- 1:08:54Speaker 16: think that's part of building a program is finding way
- 1:09:00Speaker 16: to win and building a team and figuring out where
- 1:09:04Speaker 16: the pieces are that we can continue to add that
- 1:09:06Speaker 16: when it makes sense. And so I don't think anything.
- 1:09:11Speaker 16: I don't think this is a negative. I don't think
- 1:09:13Speaker 16: this is this is just where we're at. And uh,
- 1:09:16Speaker 16: you know, I know they worked extremely hard to make
- 1:09:19Speaker 16: calls and have conversations.
- 1:09:21Speaker 7: And then in the end and we didn't do anything injuries.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: That's a situation where you'd just like to slot in
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: Kyle Williams or could pop dit more snaps as well.
- 1:09:31Speaker 16: Well, I think that if you know anything about the group,
- 1:09:34Speaker 16: which I know that you guys do, you know there's
- 1:09:36Speaker 16: a lot of interchangeable parts. They play different positions, they're
- 1:09:39Speaker 16: in different spots, and that that's not easy. I mean,
- 1:09:44Speaker 16: that's not you know, I mean going from the Z
- 1:09:46Speaker 16: in this personnel group to the to the X. And
- 1:09:50Speaker 16: so I give those guys a lot of credit. I
- 1:09:52Speaker 16: give Todd a lot of credit for being able to
- 1:09:54Speaker 16: teach it in a manner that allows them to get
- 1:09:56Speaker 16: lined up.
- 1:09:57Speaker 7: And so.
- 1:09:59Speaker 16: You know that group, they'll all play, they'll all contribute.
- 1:10:02Speaker 16: We'll see where Caysehin is at the end of the week.
- 1:10:04Speaker 16: But he won't be out there today, and Ellis won't
- 1:10:07Speaker 16: be out there, and Remandre won't be.
- 1:10:09Speaker 7: Out there today. So give other guys opportunities.
- 1:10:12Speaker 15: Mike theod stuff I did.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: How much as he helped change the whole truth that
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: he wanted to change.
- 1:10:18Speaker 16: Well, I appreciate everything he does. I appreciate his leadership,
- 1:10:22Speaker 16: his communication. It's easy to talk to I've said that before.
- 1:10:26Speaker 7: You know, he.
- 1:10:28Speaker 16: You know, nothing's forced nothing's you know, he just it's
- 1:10:33Speaker 16: like very easy conversations.
- 1:10:38Speaker 7: It's been in here a lot, you know.
- 1:10:41Speaker 16: I mean again, forty one guys lifted yesterday on a
- 1:10:44Speaker 16: day off, came into the building lifted, which I thought
- 1:10:48Speaker 16: is a really positive thing at this time of the year.
- 1:10:53Speaker 16: And well, you know, we talked to him about the
- 1:10:55Speaker 16: seasons really just getting started right now.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: But the challenge is talk with this defense to present
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: as how much as it involved.
- 1:11:03Speaker 9: Of course the time.
- 1:11:04Speaker 16: Well, you know, I'm gonna give Todd credit, but obviously
- 1:11:07Speaker 16: the credit goes to the players. They've got veteran players
- 1:11:10Speaker 16: that play physical, you know, two really aggressive corners you know,
- 1:11:16Speaker 16: obviously the safeties playmakers with Winfield, but up front you know,
- 1:11:21Speaker 16: I mean Vita and Reddick and the Abby being Levante.
- 1:11:26Speaker 7: David's been doing.
- 1:11:27Speaker 16: It at such a high level, you know, So again,
- 1:11:30Speaker 16: credit to the players. And then what Todd adds is
- 1:11:32Speaker 16: just a lot of pressure, great disguises, bringing multiple players
- 1:11:37Speaker 16: from off the football.
- 1:11:39Speaker 7: It's not just you know, a linebacker.
- 1:11:42Speaker 16: You could have a corner, you could have a safety,
- 1:11:44Speaker 16: you could have the nickel, and the coverage changes, and
- 1:11:47Speaker 16: you've seen them force a lot of turnovers, especially on
- 1:11:51Speaker 16: third down, when quarterbacks are making quick decisions that they
- 1:11:56Speaker 16: make the wrong decision. So ten turnovers in the last
- 1:12:00Speaker 16: four games. This this will be critical that we take
- 1:12:03Speaker 16: care of football like your you know, the.
- 1:12:07Speaker 17: Blung term vision for the program. You know is what's
- 1:12:09Speaker 17: most important.
- 1:12:10Speaker 16: Your in factor is winning is the most important thing.
- 1:12:13Speaker 16: Don't put words in my mouth. Winning is the most
- 1:12:15Speaker 16: important thing.
- 1:12:16Speaker 7: When are just going when.
- 1:12:18Speaker 17: You guys are discussing how to handle the trade, that line,
- 1:12:20Speaker 17: the fact of how wide open the AFC currently looks
- 1:12:23Speaker 17: like at all factor into your decision.
- 1:12:25Speaker 16: Maybe for us to sit here and think that anything
- 1:12:29Speaker 16: is wide open and talk about playoffs like we're focusing
- 1:12:33Speaker 16: on our tenth game in a row.
- 1:12:37Speaker 7: That's what we're focused on, is how do.
- 1:12:40Speaker 16: We get prepared on when Wednesday, How do we get
- 1:12:42Speaker 16: our bodies back, how do we get mentally prepared, physically
- 1:12:45Speaker 16: prepared to go on the road to a place that
- 1:12:48Speaker 16: is hard to play. And that's where our focus is.
- 1:12:51Speaker 16: It's not trying to predict the future saying well, it's
- 1:12:54Speaker 16: wide open. It's what we're just going to keep focusing
- 1:12:58Speaker 16: on what's in front of us, and that's what those
- 1:13:02Speaker 16: conversations are about about.
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: The Patriot excuse about the Buckingers offense, What is it
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: about their scheme that really challenges you?
- 1:13:09Speaker 16: And a lot of stuff before the snap. You know,
- 1:13:12Speaker 16: we'll have to be great with just the motions and
- 1:13:16Speaker 16: the shifts. And again, give them credit. They've got guys
- 1:13:20Speaker 16: going in different spots and jet motions and fly motions,
- 1:13:24Speaker 16: getting guys open, you know, getting guys open because defenses
- 1:13:29Speaker 16: are having issues with their eyes and they're looking at
- 1:13:31Speaker 16: this tight end and the other one is releasing and
- 1:13:33Speaker 16: he's wide open. And you know, Baker can extend plays
- 1:13:36Speaker 16: or even the manufacture the keepers to both sides. It's
- 1:13:41Speaker 16: not like he's just you know, moving the pocket one
- 1:13:46Speaker 16: direction if you don't give it a clean look. If
- 1:13:49Speaker 16: you give him a clean look, he's going to be
- 1:13:51Speaker 16: able to function extremely well. And you know, and then
- 1:13:56Speaker 16: they've got backs that can really hurt you. Uh, it's
- 1:13:59Speaker 16: it's downtown to get it to one of these backs.
- 1:14:02Speaker 16: And then it's an open field tackle drill. And you know,
- 1:14:04Speaker 16: they've created X plays that way and they're hard to tackle.
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: Their injury situation, does that make it a little more
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: difficult to prepare for.
- 1:14:11Speaker 7: Them this week?
- 1:14:12Speaker 16: I mean, I would imagine we're planning on, I mean
- 1:14:15Speaker 16: other than I would say probably Mike Evan, But I
- 1:14:17Speaker 16: mean I think that the plays have remained consistent and
- 1:14:21Speaker 16: we'll just have to continue to prepare as everybody's going
- 1:14:26Speaker 16: to be there.
- 1:14:28Speaker 18: De Maria Douglas said after the game of this season
- 1:14:30Speaker 18: has been or trust the process kind of mentality for him,
- 1:14:35Speaker 18: just for his like lack of snacks at the beginning
- 1:14:39Speaker 18: to now.
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: Like getting some more. Just what have you seen from.
- 1:14:42Speaker 18: Him as a season has gone on that has allowed
- 1:14:45Speaker 18: him to.
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: Kind of succeed in these past few games.
- 1:14:47Speaker 16: The way he has same positive attitude every day, same
- 1:14:53Speaker 16: you know, workmanlike attitude, infectious energy that everybody loves being
- 1:14:58Speaker 16: around him, being ready for his opportunity and not knowing
- 1:15:03Speaker 16: which way the game is gonna go and how those
- 1:15:05Speaker 16: snaps are gonna unfold, and then just being ready to
- 1:15:09Speaker 16: play multiple positions and do multiple things. And you know,
- 1:15:13Speaker 16: that's just a great example of you know, being ready
- 1:15:15Speaker 16: to go.
- 1:15:16Speaker 18: Where do you see from him in terms of being
- 1:15:19Speaker 18: like a default pride, Well, I.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: Mean he's good.
- 1:15:22Speaker 16: I mean anytime you know you can get a player
- 1:15:25Speaker 16: in there and a slot that can you know work vertical,
- 1:15:28Speaker 16: Uh can track the ball. You know, again, when I
- 1:15:31Speaker 16: think Drake looks for him when he extends, you know,
- 1:15:35Speaker 16: down the field. So those are all important things. He's
- 1:15:38Speaker 16: he's been reliable, He's created separation.
- 1:15:42Speaker 7: I know this guy.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: I'm gonna stop it being made.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: Your players, sometimes all of them will roster the spot.
- 1:15:49Speaker 16: The guys have been talking about swarming the football as
- 1:15:52Speaker 16: one of.
- 1:15:52Speaker 7: The key things the coach has allowed them to do.
- 1:15:55Speaker 16: So I just want to why this is so important
- 1:15:57Speaker 16: for you to do your defensive identity about that? Well,
- 1:16:01Speaker 16: the athletes in this league are really good and every
- 1:16:05Speaker 16: team has them, and sometimes people miss tackles or their
- 1:16:10Speaker 16: space plays. You know, sometimes teams try to create numbers
- 1:16:14Speaker 16: out on a perimeter. For example, the second playing the game,
- 1:16:18Speaker 16: maybe I don't know.
- 1:16:21Speaker 7: First playing the game, I guess I don't know. Maybe
- 1:16:23Speaker 7: a second I can't remember.
- 1:16:24Speaker 16: And Milt's running out there and the linebackers are triggering
- 1:16:27Speaker 16: and Milt's running down the line, and you know, we
- 1:16:30Speaker 16: talk about making them earn it. You know, that's a
- 1:16:32Speaker 16: defensive lineman hit a running back for a two yard game.
- 1:16:34Speaker 16: So I would say that they earned all those two
- 1:16:37Speaker 16: yards last week, and that'll be critical this week. You've
- 1:16:39Speaker 16: seen different players, whether that's Herald Milt, Christian Tonga, kc.
- 1:16:47Speaker 16: All those guys that play along the front, you know,
- 1:16:49Speaker 16: going to extend and help us out on the perimeter
- 1:16:51Speaker 16: because you know sometimes.
- 1:16:53Speaker 7: Those those are tough tackles.
- 1:16:55Speaker 16: So that that's what we want to That's how we
- 1:16:57Speaker 16: want to play defense. And it starts with that, and
- 1:17:00Speaker 16: then we look at the technique, and then we look
- 1:17:02Speaker 16: at the scheme.
- 1:17:03Speaker 6: Like how much is the how much is the physical statement?
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: Team started to creep to the fourth front of your mind.
- 1:17:09Speaker 16: Well, I mean I think a little bit, you know,
- 1:17:11Speaker 16: I think a little bit. I think it has to
- 1:17:13Speaker 16: We just have to get them ready. We have to
- 1:17:14Speaker 16: get them energized to be able to match Tampa's energy
- 1:17:18Speaker 16: coming off a few days off. And I'm confident that
- 1:17:21Speaker 16: by the time Sundays here, we'll be able to do
- 1:17:23Speaker 16: that sort of managing.
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: As you've mentioned a couple of times, Bettery, guys who
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: have had ten weeks in a World plus training camp
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: show a week next week? Is this more and more measuring?
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: Along with your training Stamp nutrition staff, with these guys team.
- 1:17:37Speaker 16: We've had extensive talks about what we think each guy
- 1:17:40Speaker 16: needs and what we think the team needs, so we'll
- 1:17:42Speaker 16: try to do that.
- 1:17:43Speaker 7: But that's, you know, fairly accurate. Chursey wanted this one.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: What you guys about life, good.
- 1:17:50Speaker 7: Size, you know, good size.
- 1:17:51Speaker 16: I think he's got showing the ability to learn quickly,
- 1:17:55Speaker 16: you know. I think that that was something that's important
- 1:17:57Speaker 16: at this time of the year, being able to get
- 1:17:58Speaker 16: a guy in here, you know that can that can
- 1:18:02Speaker 16: help us at multiple spots if something happens, you know,
- 1:18:05Speaker 16: start on a practice squad and then everybody has to
- 1:18:07Speaker 16: prepare like a starter.
- 1:18:08Speaker 7: Thank you, Thank Mike.

- 1:20:44Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: History, you know, in the media area down by the
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: rope there and all of a sudden this, you know,
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: Paul GEI, it's like, that's Jason Tatum. I have to
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: admit I was a little bit starstruck.
- 1:21:00Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: You know he's tall, Yeah, tall tall.
- 1:21:06Speaker 14: You let me finish my sentence, you would hear me say.
- 1:21:10Speaker 15: Then you see Tatum standing next to an offensive lineman
- 1:21:14Speaker 15: or like a massive behemoth of a d tackle and
- 1:21:18Speaker 15: you're like, Tatum's really effing tall.
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: He had like this new surgery.
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: I know it's going to have him back before this starts.
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: Can you let me have some hope, Paul for two seconds?
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: But so he had the surgery immediately, like within twenty
- 1:21:34Speaker 4: four hours, and then he had this new I think
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: it's called the speed Bridge. It's like this new procedure
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: of how they you guys know me well enough to
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: know that I am now an expert on Achilles recovery.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: Let's be honest. He had the speed Bridge procedure with
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: the best doctor in the world who performs this surgery
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: in New York City. Say we're playing in New York
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: when it happened. So that's why you only have the
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: surgery that night.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: Can you can you let me that's a fact.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: That's another great moment.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered eighty five to five.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: PATS five hundred is the hotline podcast at Patriots dot com.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: Is the email address. Deuce is off to the locker room,
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: so he'll be back. Evan is also in the locker room,
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: but he's going to go to practice after so he
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: won't be back. But Deuce will, and I'm sure he'll
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: make one of his patented entrances.
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: He will, probably while I'm in mid sentence, because I'm
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: always talking.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: Yea, yep.
- 1:22:36Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: So let's get back to these emails here, Robert writes
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: in uh, he says, I agree with Fred. The odds
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: are disrespectful. The bucks best wins are the Seahawks. They
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: didn't really dominate anybody this year. If we all agree
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: these two teams are comparable, no reason the Bucks should
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: be minus three. That's strange. Also, who's saying the Pats
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: have had no major injuries? We miss Gonzo for three games, now,
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: Remandre Gibson and our number one receiver is injured two.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: I mean it's starting to pile up. Wait a minute,
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: starting to pile up. Wait a minute, yep, you miss
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: Gonzo for three games.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: None of those others qualify as major injuries, Like missing
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: Mermandra Stevenson for a game is not a major injury.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: Miss Antonio, give your third running back you lost for
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: the season. He had a touchdown on a kick off
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: your third string running back. That doesn't qualify as a
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: major injury. And Kishon Booty is not your number one receiver.
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: No, dis is your number one receiver.
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: But and he, by the way, missed half a game.
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: I mean Booty was on a Pro Bowl, you know, right, Sorry,
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: I would say that the Patriots received a lot of
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: respect and only the bare minimum of a home underdog,
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: you know, the home favorite for the Tampa Bay. Yeah,
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: that's all okay, Like if the Patriots were underdogs by
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: like eight points, I could totally understand what you're talking about,
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: Like what has Tampa done that's so much better than
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: what the Patriots have done that you're giving them all
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: this respect. They didn't.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: It's two and a half points.
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: I think it's kind of like the bare minimum for
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: a home a good home team at you know, being
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: favorite went back up to three, went back down to
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: two and a half and a half now according to
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: Matt and the booth, he said it was back down
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: to two and a half.
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: So it's currently at two and a half.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: So if you want to just keep like, does it
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: they were I think if they were healthy it would
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: be more, but they would be better. Respect, they would
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: be better if they were healthy. They'd be the better
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: team if they were healthy. I think it's pretty even
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: and I think the line shows.
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: That Tony in Michigan says people need a reality check.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: He says that in all caps the whole off season,
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: I do.
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: Like these when they tell us how we're not looking
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: at it properly.
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: Okay, the whole off season we discussed how the team
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: still needed lots of building blocks and had a lot
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: of gaps to fill. We are now out playing our
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: talent level, and people want to mortgage the future for
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: divisional round playoff exit. Enjoy the fact that the team
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: is playing well with what's here, hope they can continue
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: to play well, and recognize that there is still building
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: to be done. Great teams aren't built at the trade
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: deadline and very rarely is a true impact player available.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: If you want depth pieces, you can still look at
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: other practice squads to poach. I'm glad the team didn't
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: part with valuable assets for a backup linebacker or give
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: up a first for Hendrickson.
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: So well, the first for Hendrickson was not an option.
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: But what what what mortgage of the future was there?
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: What?
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: What move do you think that they didn't do?
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: What was why?
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing. It's everyone thinks it's an either or.
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: Right Now, that's that's all I'm saying. No one's suggesting
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: they should have given two first round picks for Sauce Gardner.
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: Nobody in New England wants that. No one wanted it,
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: No one wants it, no one thinks that they should
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: have done it. They didn't need a cornerback that badly
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: to make a move like that. But you're telling me
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: that trading a sixth round pick for you know, you know,
- 1:26:07Speaker 3: how about even like one of those pick swaps. You know,
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: we'll trade a sixth and you give us a seventh
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: for Jerome Ford, that's mortgaging the future just to get
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: another NFL caliber running back in. And I'm not saying
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: that that is the difference, but that's those are the
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: kinds of moves we're talking about. We're not talking about
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: Quinn Williams and Sauce Gardner. Patriots have two really good
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: defensive tackles and Christian Barmore and Milton Williams. They didn't
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: need quinnin w I mean, I would always take Quinn
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: and Williams, don't get me wrong, but they didn't necessarily
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: need him. We're not looking at trading multiple first round
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: picks to make the team better.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: Eric in Maine, I don't understand why we got rid
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: of key On White and Dugger then didn't pick up
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: a pass rusher or running back. What's your thoughts on this.
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: We have a couple injuries and we're done. I think
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: Fred has this one.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: I think that they were trying, yeah and I for
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: whatever reason, it didn't work out.
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: And I think that's trade with us.
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: The Tennessee thing, I think makes sense. Amy Adam Strunk
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: did not want to trade with Mike Rabel. She's still
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: mad at him for whatever reason. I think that's bad
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: business on her part. I think if they had a deal,
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: a potential deal with the Patriots that made sense for
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: the Titans, they should have been interested in it. But
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: she felt differently, right, I mean, according to some scuttle butt,
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: nobody's really reporting that, but people are alluding to it.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: So you know how I always feel with those things.
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: When they's smoke is usually fire. I'll bet you there's
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: some accuracy to that.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: Christ and Virginia. Firstly, congratulations to Marine for being the
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: biggest climber in the picks pool last week.
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: Oh I didn't know, good job MARINEES know that myself.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: A question for the team after the trades by the Jets,
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: including Sauce to the Colts. Does this make any significant
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: difference to our chances of winning either the division or
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: the conference. I think it makes the two Jets games
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: Easier, probably, But you weren't losing those games. You're just not, Paul.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: It's just hard to win every game in your division.
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: They don't have to. They don't have to beat the
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: Jets twice. You don't have to win every game in
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: your division.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: No, but you're gonna Are you gonna beat the Bills twice?
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: I don't think so. Okay, so you don't have to
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: win every game in your division, but you know that's
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: not right there.
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: I say there's gonna be losses against AFC East teams.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: Yeah, the Bills they're in AFC, so you think they're
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: gonna go five and one probably.
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: I just think it's hard to do that. I don't.
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: I don't think it's hard to be one in seventeens.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: It's hard to do When Tom Brady was on the team.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: No, it wasn't. That's why they beat him. They beat
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: both the Jets and the Bills like thirty years in
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: a row. But I mean, it wasn't hard for them. Look,
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: it's not gonna be hard.
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: In the division. There was like one year I think
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: they won six and oh.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: I'm not suggesting six and oh, Fred, I'll grant you
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: a loss to Buffalo, but it's not hard to beat
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: a one in seventeen. They should be able to do that.
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: Division it makes it a little easier. Division games are tricky.
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: And I'll tell you what, I'm a lost.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: Teams lose to teams lose to It just happens.
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: I'll tell you what I'm a little worried about. If
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: you listen, feel for the league, go ahead. I'm a
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: little worried that the head coach and we haven't really
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: alluded to a lot of what Mike Rabel had to say.
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: You guys just heard him kind of make it a
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: lot of mention the last week, week and a half,
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: two weeks of the grind and you know ten weeks
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: in a row now, well, week eleven is a short weeks.
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: On a Thursday night, I'm a little worried about that.
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: Based on the way that Mike is sounding talking about
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: the team. What is the number one thing that worries
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: you about the roster right now? Most people would say depth.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: So if you're a little short on depth, and now
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: you're starting to get a little banged up, and oh,
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: by the way, you played ten games in a row,
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: eleven games in a row, Thursday night game, now, I
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: just don't think the Jets are good enough to do it. No,
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: but that would worry me a little bit, given that Paul.
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: Division game on a Thursday night would worry me a
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: little bit. Paul, And it's a little easier without Sauce
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: Gardner and quinnin Williams.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: Could this Tampa game be a scheduled loss?
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: No, no, no, I give the Patriots every I mean,
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: maybe I'm overestimating.
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: Important this game or the Jets game.
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: In my opinion, this game by a lot. Why because
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: they're good. You got to show everybody that you can
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: beat a good team.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: But in terms of chances to win the division.
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: It's irrelevant.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: Same so never does division record ye come into.
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: Play, but you'll have to beat Buffalo to have a
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: better division record. Well, and you'll have the tiebreaker over Buffalo.
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: You don't have to worry about division records.
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: I think the Jet you know, I know that Jets
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: are half as good as Tampa Bay. But it could
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: be more important.
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: I know what you're saying in terms of tiebreakers and
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: stuff like that. I'm talking about the team trying to
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: be as good as the team can be. I think
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: it would be much better for the team to show that,
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: you know what, they were right about us. We can't
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: when we played the next good team, like you were
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: like another opportunity. No, this is a opportunity. They haven't
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: really had any. They only had one and they passed
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: that one with flying was in Buffalo. All right, so
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: now go down to Tampa and do it again.
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: Ah, this is a tough one, Paul. It's a stump
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: Paul trivia.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: Yeah, nice, Mike says he's got a good one for
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: me tomorrow.
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: It's less trivia. But anyway, with the recent trades, there
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: are now only ten players still with the team that
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: were drafted by Bill Belichick. Can you name them?
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: The Patriots have ten players that were drafted by Belichick.
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: Uh, Kayshan Boudi, Di Mario Douglas, Micah Wenture, Marcus Jones, four, uh,
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: Ramondre Stevenson. One was oh a Christian Gonzalez six.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: One was supposedly on the trade block.
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: Oh, Anthony Jennings. Seven that the one you were just talking.
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: Yep, there's ten.
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: Huh yeah, mmmm uh, that's seven. I don't want to
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: waste a mop poo.
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: Okay, barringer, all right, Uh that's eight and nine you
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: got did you say, Marcus Jones?
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:32:23Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: What did he miss? One? Two, three, four, five, six,
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: seven eight? Barringer? Barber? You said you.
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: Said I'd never said bar You never said I never
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: said barber. Oh geez, yeah, okay, I never said barbore.
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: That's the other one.
- 1:32:38Speaker 2: Yeah, A wrong answer would have been Brendan's schooler. He
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: was signed as an undrafted free agent, not drafted.
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: A lot of a lot of those, right, Yeah, del
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: Pettis I think was one of those. Yep, was he was?
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: He last year? He might have been Noo.
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: Barton Poland says, I might be in the minority. But
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: I'm totally fine with how our trade deadline went. If
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: the right deals weren't there at the reasonable prices, I'm
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: glad we didn't overspend. Paul mentioned that the Commanders didn't
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: mortgage their future, but they literally traded two thirds of
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: fourth a fifth the sixth In a twenty twenty six
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: second that's not exactly smart resource management. And they're paying
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: for it now ironically, and Daniel's injury might actually end
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: up helping them.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: They're they're not paying for it. They have the second
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: most cap space in football behind you. Well, that's that's
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: so that's not mortgage in your future. That's my point.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: You have plenty of opportunities to build your team. Of course,
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: I wouldn't have complained if we made a big move.
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: And actually that's not why you guys like to do it.
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: You just automatically say it's the right thing to do.
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: I'd have liked to added a depth edition, but the
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: biggest sellers were never going to trade with us anyway.
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: In addition, plenty of contenders did absolutely nothing. And let's
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: not act like teams were snatching away players that our
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: positions of need. If almost none of those realistic depth
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: targets moved elsewhere, it probably means that asking prices were
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: just too steep.
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: So do you think that the Patriots roster is as
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: good as like everybody else's? That all the contenders like
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: Kansas City, Buffalo, So do you think maybe they had
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: less of an need? Yeah, and again I'm not I
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: started the whole show by saying this, and I stay
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: with it. I am not upset in any way, shape
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: or form that the Patriots didn't I don't think that
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: the trade deadline is necessarily a huge avenue to do this,
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: Like you know, put the whole put you over the
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: top kind of argument. Now you can make an argument
- 1:34:34Speaker 3: the Colts made that kind of a swing. They acquired
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: a guy they badly needed because of their situation in
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: the secondary was probably going to be their undoing if
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: they didn't make a significant move. But I'm not upset
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: that the Patriots didn't make a move. But I'm just
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: glad that Bart, because that was a good balanced email
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: because at least he admits if the Patriots had traded
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: for Draymont Jones, you said that they were they they
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: inquired about. If the Patriots had traded, say, I don't know,
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: a fourth round pick for Draymond Jones, No, I would
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: be sitting here saying I can't believe that they mortgaged
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: their future and did this. You'd be excited that they
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: added at a position that you think that they need
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: help at, right right. So just that's why I like
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: the way Bart said it. He was honest they didn't
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: do anything. He's okay with it. And if they had
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: done something, he would have been okay with that too.
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: That's honesty. I appreciate that.
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: Eldred in North Carolina is on the line. What's up, Eldred?
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: Rashid Shaheed online two?
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: What's up, hey, Paul?
- 1:35:40Speaker 11: Yes, sir, would you a little bit? I wish that
- 1:35:44Speaker 11: he didn't get some depth like a corner or linebacker
- 1:35:48Speaker 11: or maybe you know somewhere that like he just said,
- 1:35:52Speaker 11: I were about to live about the ten weeks grind
- 1:35:54Speaker 11: and what it is, but they didn't, so I just got.
- 1:35:57Speaker 7: To go with it.
- 1:35:58Speaker 11: But there was a report out there from a past
- 1:36:01Speaker 11: cap and lock On Patriots about no, well, well whatever
- 1:36:11Speaker 11: the lady from Tennessee did tell everybody did not trade
- 1:36:14Speaker 11: with Gray.
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: Right, Yes, I told you, I said that everybody. There
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: are a lot of people who have alluded to it.
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: No one's reporting it, but there has been a lot
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: of allusions to the fact that the Titans were unwilling
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: to trade with the Patriots, right because of Amy Adamson.
- 1:36:27Speaker 11: A part of them guys that they're they're reporting it.
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I mean I maybe not do what you
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: call but I read it originated not reporting it.
- 1:36:36Speaker 8: Okay, my question is this This was word mean the
- 1:36:39Speaker 8: most by Tampa Bay defense. Okay, it's our line, missus
- 1:36:45Speaker 8: stunt Drake speeding up.
- 1:36:49Speaker 11: Drake look like like like that rookie whatever that was
- 1:36:52Speaker 11: worried me. And then our defense covering Abukah and everybody else.
- 1:36:57Speaker 8: And take it off the air and tell me how
- 1:37:00Speaker 8: you think we might be able to pick and I'll
- 1:37:03Speaker 8: take it from there.
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: Now, it's a concern. Thanks Eldred, Thanks he it's a concern.
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: I mean, Tampa's got fifteen sacks in their last three games.
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: The Patriots have allowed twelve sacks in their last two.
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: I don't think all of those sacks are on the
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: Patriots offensive line, but I think more of them than
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: have been credited. I think everybody it's now open season
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: on Drake May takes too many sacks. It's his fault.
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: I think the reason that Drake May takes all those
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: sacks is because he's making all these plays. That's carrying
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: your offense. And I think if you ask him to just,
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: you know, not do that anymore, I think your offense
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: is going to take a hit.
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: I agree Curtis and Saint Louis. Personally, I believe the
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: Patriots will definitely make the playoffs this year. Not sure
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: if you guys agree or not.
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: Larger I strongly agree.
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: My larger question is how likely is it that they
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: win the division? I charted out the remainder of the
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: season for both Bills and Patriots, my predictions on their
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: win lost totals. Ultimately, I have the Patriots falling short
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: to Buffalo by one game. Me too, us not taking
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: the division this year. Wanted your thoughts and he's got
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: it laid out if you're interested. But he's got the
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: Patriots ending the season at twelve and five in Buffalo
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: at thirteen and four.
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the Patriots could go eleven and six,
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: But that's me. That's my low water mark, eleven and
- 1:38:15Speaker 3: six because I always think the Fred kirsch theory. As
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: much as I bicker with you, the Fred Kirscht theory
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: is accurate. You always lose a game you don't expect
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: to lose, right.
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: Well, if they go four and four the rest of
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: the way, they're eleven and six, right.
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: But I just looked at it as like people, probably
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: I'm assuming he has the win loss there. I assuming
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: he has Buffalo and Baltimore's losses.
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: He's got Tampa Bay as a loss, he's got Buffalo
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: as a loss, and he's got Baltimore as a loss.
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: Okay, so those are the only three losses he has.
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: But what does that.
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: Tell you, though?
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: Are you happy about that?
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: Because see, I would rather look like I'd rather lose
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: to the Jets. This is what I'm saying to you. Like,
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: I think it tells you more of your capability. But whatever,
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: when I think the Fred Kirsch theory of you always
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: lose a game, you don't expect to lose, right, you know?
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: And you know, like the Giants Monday night game, to
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: me is probably not a person in New England and
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: thinks there's any chance the Patriots lose that game. I
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: think that will be a dogfight.
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: You're looking ahead to the bye.
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: I think the Giants have played reasonably well since Jackson
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: Dard has been their quarterback. I think they've had a
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: chance and most of the games that he's played, so
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: I think they'll have a chance that And listen, Cincinnati
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: is putting probably going to give you a shootout. You
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: haven't been in one of those yet. How do you
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: react to him? So I'm telling you, this is eleven
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: and six to me. But that's that's it. Fred I
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: don't see worse than eleven and six, and I just
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: have more faith that Buffalo has been here and done
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: this before and they'll find a way. They have a
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: handful of difficult games still. I think they play I
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: think they played the Eagles right who buff Buffalo, they
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: have their their I think they have a handful of
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: difficult games left.
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: They've got Miami, have Tampa, They've got Tampa Bay after that,
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: then they have Houston.
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: Houston will be a tough game, that's a good defense,
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: and they should be Cincinnati shootout than us, Cleveland, Philadelphia
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: and the Jets. So they have a handful of difficult games.
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: But I think that they have been in this situation
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: before and they sort of know how to handle it
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: a little bit more. But that doesn't mean that it's
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: a lot And I think it could come down to
- 1:40:10Speaker 3: just the one game. If if the Patriots can hold
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: Serve at home and beat Buffalo, then Buffalo has to
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: finish with a better record than you to win the division.
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: Then that tiebreaker comes into play. The tiebreaker right now
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: doesn't matter because they have to play again. But if
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: the Patriots were to win twice, that takes the tiebreaker.
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Yep, that could That's I
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: think that game is going to ultimately decide things.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: Okay, let's see, let's go back to the phones, Kevin.
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: Kevin's in San Francisco.
- 1:40:44Speaker 9: Hey, Kevin, Hey, guys, how are we doing?
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: Hey?
- 1:40:49Speaker 20: Just a couple of comments. I'm not overly upset that
- 1:40:53Speaker 20: they didn't make any moves and mortgage the future, as
- 1:40:57Speaker 20: they say, but I do think that letting kee On
- 1:41:00Speaker 20: White and Doug or go without knowing that you can
- 1:41:04Speaker 20: make feels is a failure at the front office level.
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: Look say that again, Kevin.
- 1:41:12Speaker 20: I think it's a failure at the front office that
- 1:41:14Speaker 20: you let two pieces that are at least back up
- 1:41:16Speaker 20: in casey of injury and you don't have a meeting
- 1:41:19Speaker 20: with which to replace them, especially on the on the
- 1:41:22Speaker 20: defensive end.
- 1:41:23Speaker 9: Front, I think that's a failure.
- 1:41:26Speaker 20: So anyway, but moving beyond that, look the teams. The
- 1:41:30Speaker 20: team's overachieving this year. I'm going to enjoy it and
- 1:41:33Speaker 20: see what happens. But in reality, I think this team's
- 1:41:38Speaker 20: going to be at best nine to eight next year
- 1:41:40Speaker 20: because they've just got so many holes. So look, I'm
- 1:41:43Speaker 20: enjoying it ride the waves. But you know, I'm not necessarility.
- 1:41:46Speaker 20: I'm not so bullish on the front office as far
- 1:41:49Speaker 20: as how they address this.
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, it's fair.
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: I mean, I I'm just not as I'm just not
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: upset about it. I really maybe I sound like playing
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: your side of the street, and I'm just like, you know,
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: I'm happy no matter what. But I just didn't see
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: a lot of difference making opportunities. I'm sure there was
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: a death piece or two that they could have added,
- 1:42:11Speaker 3: but how much better would those options have been than
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: what you have in your system already?
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: What do you think about his assertion that it was
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: a failure of the front office to not have replacements
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: ready for Keon White and Kyle Duggar. I mean, Douck,
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: you think they did?
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: I think they do. Yeah, I think they They took
- 1:42:29Speaker 3: those guys jobs away from them.
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: Right, Woodson was playing ahead of Dugger, right, I.
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: Mean Dougeran if Jalen Hawkins didn't get hurt, Douger would
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: have continued to play like less than five snaps a game. Yeah,
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: he wouldn't have played. He had those two games where
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: he played the whole game because he was so like,
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: you're just looking at it as another guy gets hurt again.
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: It's fair. His criticism is fair. I'm not beating up
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: on that take. Just yeah, they're missing a third safety,
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: They're missing a you know, a throw to edge rusher.
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: There's a lot of teams that are missing depth pieces,
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: Yep. Let's see Gavin Wright saying, why didn't they at
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: least get a safety or linebacker to help manage the
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: middle of the field, as this is clearly one huge
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: weakness of the team. Is there anything they can do
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: to limit this with any of the guys they have.
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: I'm very fussy and stressed every game due to this challenge.
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: In addition to no pass rush. According to Evan, they
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: do have a pass rush.
- 1:43:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think they have a great pass rush.
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: I will say that, and I understand, Like, so this
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: is like, this is my problem with like the inundation,
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: with all these numbers. You watch the game and you
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: do not see opposing quarterbacks being affected all that often
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: by the Patriots, do you?
- 1:43:49Speaker 7: No?
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: I agree, I agree.
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: And I'm not fixated on the sack total. I'm just
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: talking about how many times the quarterback is just forced
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: to dump it off because he's under pressure. I don't
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: see that happen a lot. I mean, I think that
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: it's telling that their two best pass rushers per se
- 1:44:09Speaker 3: are defensive tackles.
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: Like they're the guys to me that win their battles
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: more often than not. Chase On has been active, and
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: he's been good, but they don't have elite pressure coming
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: off the edge.
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: Sam and Easton writes and I wrote in last week
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: about the weather impacting May's passing ability. Having been at
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: the game, I can tell you the win was much
- 1:44:28Speaker 2: more of a factor than those at home might think.
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: From our bird's eye view in the upper two hundreds,
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: it looked like some of those incomplete deep passes were
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: taken by the wind. I think it's more of a
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: topic of discussion than people are letting on. I'm concerned
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: we might lose some of the elite deep passing element
- 1:44:45Speaker 2: of May's game down the stretch, at least for the
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: home games. With five to seven mile per hour wins
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: in eighty three degree weather forecasting for Sunday's game at Tampa,
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: I'm predicting a bounce back deep ball passing performance by Drake.
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: I'm willing to bet he as another subpar game by
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: his standards on Thursday Night football against the Jets in
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: the swirling Foxborough night winds thirtieth degree early forecast. Also,
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: do we want to see Drake put on the long sleeves? Now?
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: I know it's a mental thing for players, but I
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: want to see him staying warm and unbothered like Brady
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: always did.
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't know about how comfortable he is. Whatever
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: he wants to do to be comfortable is fine. I
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: did not see the inaccurate deep passes that he's talking
- 1:45:27Speaker 3: about on Sunday. I saw him be skittish in the
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: pocket in the second half after getting stripsacked. I didn't
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: see his accuracy. Go, I saw his decision making go,
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: that's just me. I didn't see And you know, I
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: saw him drop a beautiful pass twenty yards downfield to
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: Tomio Douglas. I saw him with an absolute dime to
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: Stefan Diggs in the fourth quarter on a deep ball.
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: So I didn't see this inaccuracy caused by the wind
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: on Sunday. I think his arm is largely immune to
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: the wind. I think he has that good of an.
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: Is it that windy?
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: No, I'm sure he's right. He was probably in the stands.
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: It was probably windy er on the field, and we
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: knew sitting in the press box that I totally get
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: what he's saying. I just didn't see the ball affected
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: by the wind. I didn't see it affecting Pennix's throws either.
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: What about that extra point kick?
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: That was Yeah, I don't think that effect.
- 1:46:17Speaker 2: It didn't look like it was just a bad kid.
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: It was wide the whole way.
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: By the way, were you watching the game? I think
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: it was the Cowboys game. I forgot.
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: I didn't see any I didn't see any.
- 1:46:30Speaker 2: Man. It looked like a bad field goal. You know,
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: it was above the uprights, and they said that it
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: like if that had hit the upright, it would have
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: definitely gone out because it was three quarters of the
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: way to the outside of the upright.
- 1:46:42Speaker 3: What did the announcers say anything?
- 1:46:44Speaker 2: They kind of agreed, like, oh, I thought that was
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: not good.
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: Who made it? You don't even know which team? Yeah,
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: I'm half in a fox it was. I didn't see
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: any of the Monday night game this week.
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: I was out. Maybe a viewer can help me out.
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: I'm trying to think now with Aubrey, I think I
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: wasn't the Cowboys. I think it was no.
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: Aza guy Chad Ryland. It might have been Ryland, right,
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: he's the Cardinals, Stutter.
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: Russell and Florida from Arkansas. Is there a chance that
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: Rabel and Wolf viewed most of the players that were
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: available for trade as possible targets and free agency in
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: the off season, potentially getting someone they want plus keeping
- 1:47:21Speaker 2: their picks. Does the defense run more? Okay, so that's
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: one question, like we're not going to give it. We
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: mightn't have in the off season.
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: I don't rule anything out, but that doesn't really do
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: anything for you. Right, you need them, you know, if
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: you need them, you need them now?
- 1:47:35Speaker 7: Ye?
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: Does the defense run more man coverage and maybe have
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: someone spying Mayfield? Did you guys see Pete Carroll fail
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: the two point conversion last Sunday? Seems he ran the time.
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: He's got three questions in here?
- 1:47:47Speaker 3: What was that? I did see the the two point
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: conversion got knocked down at the line. Ye, Yes, I
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: did see that. I was listening. It was that just
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: like a different one, stand alone, different question. Yeah, And
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: Pete did have that dumb to look on his face
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: that we know all no in love from the.
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: Super Bowl says seems he ran the same play from
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: super Bowl forty nine and has not learned his lesson.
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: So I don't know, honestly, I was listening to it
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: on the radio.
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: I don't know. Yeah, it kind of.
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: I love. I love driving home after a one o'clock
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: game because we get to listen to like there's a
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: red zone version.
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: I do the same thing losers.
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: And what they do is when whoever is on offense,
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: they go to the that team's home broadcast. You think
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: we're Homer's if you think so, lots of Homer. Oh
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: my god.
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: I've said this in the past. I said this to
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: Matt Smith, you know, like I because I've been you know,
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: at times I tease and I tease Scott to his face.
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: I'm not speaking out of school, you know about that.
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: And then I started doing this and I was like,
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: I owe you guys an apology, Like it's you guys
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: are much more that. There's like three or four that
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: are reasonably balanced. Some of the rest of them, it's
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: like all first names, it's all we it's all the
- 1:48:59Speaker 3: reps killing us. It's like it's like Fred on steroids
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: doing the games. It's unbelievable. Tommy Hinsen, I can't tell
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: you how much the first name thing bugs me. Yeah,
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: you don't like that, Like it's so unprofessional.
- 1:49:12Speaker 2: If you're the home team, like I could see like
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: the home like Vrabel calling the Mario Douglas pop.
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: No, No, that's that's different. And it's also and it's
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: also different if a guy has like sort of you know,
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: if he just says Calevon Okay, I know who you're
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: talking about, right, Okay, But when it's you know, Drew
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: and Jim, like I don't know who you're talking about, right,
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: And that's like they all just use first names like
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: they're all buddies. That to me is what it is.
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: We're friends. Like, No, you're the announcer. You're supposed to
- 1:49:43Speaker 3: be professional, and you're so right, Like some of those
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: broadcasts are unbelievable.
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: It's so funny. Do you think Mayfield is good enough
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: where you need to spy him? I don't think. I don't.
- 1:49:56Speaker 2: I don't look at wasting a resource on that.
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: No, not if it affects the defense and any way,
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: shape or form. He's a guy who's gonna scramble around
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: and he's gonna look to break tackles like it's not.
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: About yeah, when he's pressured.
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: He's not athletic, he's not fast. No, he's just a gamer.
- 1:50:12Speaker 2: Right, I agree, So I wouldn't. I don't think you
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: need to spy Baker Mayfield. You need to keep me
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: to tackle him.
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: Yeah, you need to match his toughness because he's not
- 1:50:21Speaker 3: gonna you know, if he needs to get a first down,
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: that's important. He's going to try to put his shoulder
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: down and knock you over.
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: Yep, Mike writes in I feel better about the Patriots
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: d on rewatch. They gave up twenty three points, but
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: seven were a gimme turnover. Absolutely, there was a real
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: TD drive and then the eighty five yard that worries Paul.
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: I rewatched this drive, and besides two fourth down conversions
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: and a bad penalty, the Patriots also had four passes
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: defended that could have been interceptions. Now they have to
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: make the play, But the stats say Atlanta was wildly
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: lucky to get a touchdown.
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: I would disagree with the lucky part, but I do
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: think you know, you've forced a couple of fourth downs
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: you were close.
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: Look who's back from the locker room?
- 1:51:04Speaker 12: What was the moon where the player's friendly to that?
- 1:51:07Speaker 13: None of them looked like Devik Henry Hay, Mike, what
- 1:51:10Speaker 13: was it like in the locker room?
- 1:51:16Speaker 14: What was it like in the locker room?
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: We had a we had another submission for Mike. You
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: want to play that, Matt.
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: Morel do so.
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: He so, I feel like I need to do like
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: a chick. We thought that one we might play when
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: you go into the that's.
- 1:51:47Speaker 6: For the locker room, and all the team just starts clapping.
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: I think we can get buy in from the team.
- 1:51:52Speaker 2: I think so, oh for sure.
- 1:51:55Speaker 6: I mean digs, everybody be like, we got to get
- 1:51:56Speaker 6: this guy a song when he comes.
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: By the way, That last one was made by my
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: brother Ohn. Sorry, thank you, Billy.
- 1:52:02Speaker 5: I appreciate that, like the heavy metal little twist there.
- 1:52:05Speaker 5: But yeah, so back from the locker room. Uh, you know,
- 1:52:07Speaker 5: I thought the theme from today is the season is
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: just starting now.
- 1:52:11Speaker 9: Uh.
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: A few different players say that, say that, yeah, and
- 1:52:14Speaker 5: so they're they're they're kind of glomming onto that. I
- 1:52:17Speaker 5: think that was kind of the message to the team today.
- 1:52:19Speaker 5: But a lot of respect for you know, Mayfield and
- 1:52:21Speaker 5: Tampa and you know, no, Mom, he was talking a
- 1:52:23Speaker 5: little bit about coming from Philadelphias, played down there a
- 1:52:25Speaker 5: couple of times and just said, you know, you got
- 1:52:27Speaker 5: to go down there. You want to win, you gotta
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: beat them. They're not going to give you a game
- 1:52:30Speaker 5: down there. That was an interesting point.
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: But otherwise, you know, it's.
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: Just I don't know.
- 1:52:34Speaker 5: I didn't love all the questions today. Like one of
- 1:52:36Speaker 5: the questions like seven and two? Do you ever think
- 1:52:38Speaker 5: to seven and two? Do you ever think you'd do
- 1:52:40Speaker 5: you ever think you'd be this good when you sign here?
- 1:52:42Speaker 4: Like they're good?
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: Guy, it's we ten, Like what are we talking about?
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: I mean I think if you asked all these people
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: individually to go down the schedule in the first nine games,
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: I mean maybe they were said four right right, Like
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: they beat Buffalo. I get it.
- 1:52:58Speaker 5: That was an upset. Yeah, there were no other upsets. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:53:02Speaker 5: I don't know some of them. I was just scratching
- 1:53:04Speaker 5: my head a little bit. But heard from Stuph Diggs
- 1:53:06Speaker 5: of course as always, which just he's always ready to go.
- 1:53:08Speaker 5: We walk into the locker room and stuffs just ready.
- 1:53:11Speaker 5: Even the players you know around him, clear out a
- 1:53:13Speaker 5: little bit. But Will Campbell, well, they asked a little
- 1:53:16Speaker 5: bit about appearing at the Celtics game.
- 1:53:17Speaker 6: He said it was the first NBA game he's ever
- 1:53:19Speaker 6: been to, so.
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: Not a bad way to take it in. And they
- 1:53:21Speaker 5: were like, well, what did you think when everyone was
- 1:53:22Speaker 5: cheering for you? He's like, yeah, they were cheering for
- 1:53:24Speaker 5: him and pointing over at Drake. Uh so, Will, it.
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: Was funny, Paul. One question, though, I think you would.
- 1:53:30Speaker 5: Have absolutely loved it, was you know, just what made
- 1:53:33Speaker 5: you want to make that tackle?
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: What made you want to make it? I play for
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: an NFL.
- 1:53:42Speaker 3: That's professional football player. The guy with the ball right,
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: he needs to be on the ground so the play stops.
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: Like do you like understand what I'm saying? How we
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: lose our minds over these things.
- 1:53:53Speaker 5: I think we lost our mind on that one for sure.
- 1:53:55Speaker 5: But you know he kind of chok.
- 1:53:58Speaker 2: A great play, terrific motivation. Yeah, that's my job.
- 1:54:03Speaker 3: He didn't like Again, I know, I make light of
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: the whole Benjamin Watson, he didn't traverse eighty yards. It
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: was at the thirty yard line. Yeah, he was like
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: three yards behind it when the guy picked up the
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: ball and he got him at the five or six whatever,
- 1:54:18Speaker 3: it was terrific play by Will Campbell.
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: What else is he supposed to do?
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: Just watch like you could say he missed the tackle,
- 1:54:28Speaker 3: maybe be better next time, but who's not chasing?
- 1:54:30Speaker 5: I know that's do your job, Do your job right.
- 1:54:33Speaker 5: He's got a pretty good sense of hum about it, though.
- 1:54:34Speaker 5: But he did say he he plays some defense when
- 1:54:37Speaker 5: he was in high.
- 1:54:37Speaker 6: School, and we're like, oh, you know, like what position
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: he plays, Like, we're not going to talk about that,
- 1:54:42Speaker 6: so I don't know.
- 1:54:43Speaker 2: It's funny, but it.
- 1:54:43Speaker 5: Seems like he's an offensive lineman through and through. And
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: then we hear from christ like him. He just has
- 1:54:49Speaker 5: like that little it's on a corner, but it's kind
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: of like near a space, so he could just he
- 1:54:53Speaker 5: just kind.
- 1:54:54Speaker 6: Of pops his elbow up against the thing.
- 1:54:56Speaker 5: Listens to his demeanor, very relaxed, doesn't say more than
- 1:55:00Speaker 5: he needs to, you know, measured with the way he speaks,
- 1:55:02Speaker 5: he's done.
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: He's done a great job in the locker room.
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: And Christian Gonzalez as well spoke and you know, some
- 1:55:07Speaker 5: nice words for Abuka, and you know, he's always kind
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: of get.
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: The impression that he's expecting to see a lot of him.
- 1:55:13Speaker 5: Didn't get that impression necessarily, but I was kind of
- 1:55:17Speaker 5: around the corner and I was kind of doing like
- 1:55:19Speaker 5: like one of these, because you know how the scrums are,
- 1:55:21Speaker 5: you gotta have to squeeze in.
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: There, so you should get more respect. Two songs.
- 1:55:26Speaker 6: Yeah, no, but it's an active day, I say.
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: Jory Epstein from Yaho Sports National, yeaho sports writer was here.
- 1:55:31Speaker 6: So he always asked me if there's more of a
- 1:55:33Speaker 6: Jory Epstein.
- 1:55:35Speaker 5: She's been around, heard that name in my life. Yeah,
- 1:55:37Speaker 5: she's I mean, she covers the NFL. She's one of
- 1:55:39Speaker 5: the national folks. So he always asked me if people
- 1:55:41Speaker 5: are you know, sizable media contingent today.
- 1:55:44Speaker 6: Definitely some new cameraman as well. But you see some
- 1:55:47Speaker 6: of the national guys making a stop too.
- 1:55:49Speaker 2: Yeah. I on Evan Evan.
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: I struggled to see Evan today. I was, well, this
- 1:55:54Speaker 5: is another part of it too. I was buried in
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: this stuff. Yeah he was still today, but I was
- 1:55:57Speaker 5: buried in the Steph Digs press conference and someone parted.
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: And so it was like also just pour oh ho
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: ho ho, let's wrap it up.
- 1:56:08Speaker 5: Step But you know, some of these these scrums get
- 1:56:12Speaker 5: going and it feels like you're you know, reaching that,
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: like all right, it's starting to wrap.
- 1:56:15Speaker 6: Up and then sorry, coming to late, but you know,
- 1:56:18Speaker 6: what do you think of the bucks this week?
- 1:56:19Speaker 2: And it's like, bro, apologize if you've been, We've been.
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: You know, you can't come in and ask like a
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: super general question.
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: But you know, sometimes they tend to like drag on
- 1:56:26Speaker 5: and on it and everyone's like okay, okay.
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you.
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: So good day, busy day. It seems like it's gonna
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: be short practice today.
- 1:56:33Speaker 5: I know we're doing our interview with Mac Hollins a
- 1:56:36Speaker 5: little early, so getting out there, see some guys dressing
- 1:56:39Speaker 5: up getting ready for some of the little little bit
- 1:56:41Speaker 5: cold weather there.
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: So good t me see what the temp is right now?
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: What do you got? Uh fifty five?
- 1:56:46Speaker 5: I mean not Travian Henderson. I was walking back right
- 1:56:48Speaker 5: in back of Travian Henderson. He had just a shell on,
- 1:56:50Speaker 5: no shirt underneath. Like he seems like cold doesn't with
- 1:56:56Speaker 5: like the full face, but that's kind of barm Yeah,
- 1:56:58Speaker 5: it's cool.
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: It's really windy out though the wind is supposed to
- 1:57:02Speaker 2: pick out north wind coming down to make it cooler.
- 1:57:06Speaker 2: The Autumn Raider I actually just got a text from
- 1:57:10Speaker 2: my electric company and it says we are we are
- 1:57:15Speaker 2: prepared for damaging wind gusts expected Wednesday into Thursday.
- 1:57:19Speaker 3: Supposed to be up to like fifty sixty miles an
- 1:57:21Speaker 3: hour Northeastern.
- 1:57:22Speaker 14: Yeah, fifty five to sixty six is what they're saying,
- 1:57:24Speaker 14: miles per hour.
- 1:57:25Speaker 2: I think it's just bringing in cold weather.
- 1:57:28Speaker 6: Well, tis the tis the season.
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I had a Paul. Sorry, Paul, I had it.
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: No one's more miserable than paulots and prayers to Paul.
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: He had to put his heat on on Monday fourth.
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: I going home from work Monday, it was fifty five
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: from my house.
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I think it's maybe we need
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: to put it up a little. That's like a Onesie
- 1:57:46Speaker 2: Regal blanket.
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: Just put it on.
- 1:57:49Speaker 3: She was working and I texted her that's pretty much
- 1:57:51Speaker 3: the same thing I texted you.
- 1:57:52Speaker 5: And she was like, Okay, it's pretty proud. He should
- 1:57:54Speaker 5: be pretty proud of yourself. You make it a November
- 1:57:56Speaker 5: fourth without heat around here, that's pretty impressive.
- 1:57:57Speaker 2: All right. Well, listen, busy day in the locker room.
- 1:58:02Speaker 2: Teams off to practice, will be getting a practice report today.
- 1:58:06Speaker 3: And Rabel said, no, Stevenson, LS and Booty for practice today.
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: We never really got to recap the Mike's press conference,
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: but he didn't mention that those those three guys would
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: not be practicing today. So I would say, then you
- 1:58:20Speaker 3: need to be prepared that those three guys will not
- 1:58:22Speaker 3: be available on Sunday.
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's interesting the message that you mentioned this
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: is the start of the season. Interesting message because he's
- 1:58:32Speaker 2: brought up grind, trying to get the guy's mindset like, okay,
- 1:58:36Speaker 2: fresh start instead of this is a continuation of nine
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: games like we're starting now. Kind of I know it's
- 1:58:43Speaker 2: mental tricks it you know, it doesn't really affect your body,
- 1:58:46Speaker 2: but mentally, if you take on that mindset, maybe you
- 1:58:51Speaker 2: have you know, you feel a little refreshed. Yeah, maybe,
- 1:58:55Speaker 2: you know, I know the buy is a long way away.
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: It breaks up.
- 1:58:58Speaker 5: Kind of nice though, because you've got eight games left.
- 1:59:00Speaker 5: You got four and four. Yeah, you got the buye
- 1:59:02Speaker 5: in the middle, so you break it up into into chunks. Obviously,
- 1:59:06Speaker 5: the next what eight days is going to be a
- 1:59:08Speaker 5: grind for them. Two games in the next eight days,
- 1:59:10Speaker 5: but you know, and then you got to travel.
- 1:59:12Speaker 2: Imagine if Bill was here during this stretch. Yeah, Oh,
- 1:59:15Speaker 2: he'd be.
- 1:59:18Speaker 3: Yeah for very long, way, very long.
- 1:59:21Speaker 11: What's that for?
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: Every long week, there's a show week.
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: But I do think Rabel's playing a little at that
- 1:59:25Speaker 3: with nobody.
- 1:59:26Speaker 2: They're all up against us.
- 1:59:27Speaker 3: This is disrespect the world, disrespectful that we got such
- 1:59:30Speaker 3: a late buy and they're coming. He also mentioned they're
- 1:59:33Speaker 3: coming on they've had a couple of days off. He
- 1:59:35Speaker 3: mentioned in Tampa.
- 1:59:37Speaker 2: Bad line, I don't want to trade with us. We all,
- 1:59:39Speaker 2: we got we all we need just remember that Hatreots fans.
