- 1:28Speaker 1: so hope everybody's doing Okay, we will start with the
- 1:35Speaker 1: recap from that Sadi card Man Moses took care of
- 1:42Speaker 1: business and as I warned people about and saying, hey, dude,
- 1:51Speaker 1: like just cal him down. Don't match him against Usik
- 1:56Speaker 1: just yet. Okay, that includes you turn Well, that's the
- 2:01Speaker 1: most important person in this one. Let's not get out
- 2:06Speaker 1: of hand just yet. Let the young fella develop. Okay,
- 2:14Speaker 1: he's got a fair amount of names in the top ten.
- 2:16Speaker 1: He's now entered the top ten. Okay. Dillion White was
- 2:21Speaker 1: a fringe Top tenor right fringe contender. He showed up
- 2:27Speaker 1: in great shape in Million White, but it just didn't
- 2:32Speaker 1: Now could you say it was an early stoppage? Okay, sure,
- 2:35Speaker 1: but you know, I don't know. I mean, like I said,
- 2:40Speaker 1: you could have let it keep going. But he wasn't
- 2:43Speaker 1: looking good, to be honest with you, at Homi Atoma Itema,
- 2:52Speaker 1: No that that doesn't that's not right. Yeah, he did.
- 2:56Speaker 1: He did the job. So we're gonna talk about that
- 2:59Speaker 1: and whether it's winners or losers. What's next so we'll
- 3:05Speaker 1: get into some of that and then we're gonna preview.
- 3:08Speaker 1: It's a light weekend. It's like a Dezone weekend. I'm
- 3:12Speaker 1: not saying all the fights, but it's like I swear
- 3:14Speaker 1: it's like four maybe five. I think it's five, four
- 3:19Speaker 1: or five events that they got going on this weekend.
- 3:24Speaker 1: We didn't get to talk to John last week. We
- 3:28Speaker 1: had that conversation about the Ali Act two point zero
- 3:33Speaker 1: is what I what I like. I like that name
- 3:35Speaker 1: better than the name they're trying to use. Maybe we'll
- 3:38Speaker 1: have a little follow up on that maybe, you know,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'd like to get his thoughts on the paramount deal
- 3:48Speaker 1: with Dana White in the UFC, just to see what
- 3:53Speaker 1: he thinks. Also some thoughts on Ortiz Lubin. Sounds like
- 3:58Speaker 1: that's gonna be a done deal, like specially now that
- 4:02Speaker 1: Lubin and Bachrahm didn't didn't do the person, but it
- 4:08Speaker 1: sounds like both of them have a fight it. Get
- 4:12Speaker 1: his thoughts on some other rumored fights in fifty four,
- 4:15Speaker 1: like Frondor and Thurman. You know, I just kind of
- 4:20Speaker 1: I just kind of talked about it a little bit
- 4:22Speaker 1: last week, and I thought stylistically, as we know styles
- 4:27Speaker 1: make fights. I really think that Thurman it's gonna test
- 4:31Speaker 1: his legs, and obviously it's gonna test his body. No pause,
- 4:36Speaker 1: I'm not positive on that one. He's gonna his body.
- 4:39Speaker 1: He's gonna get tested. Fundora is gonna okay, I'm gonna
- 4:45Speaker 1: sty I'm gonna stop. I'm gonna stop. It's not gonna
- 4:49Speaker 1: be this wash them. I don't think Thurman is what.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Thurman's not washed? Now his legs? Can they hold up
- 4:57Speaker 1: for twelve rounds? Eh? That's what I don't know. Stylistically, counterpunching, potshots, jabbing, timing, movement, defense,
- 5:10Speaker 1: all that, dude, that it really lines up with Thurman.
- 5:14Speaker 2: In that fight.
- 5:14Speaker 1: In my opinion. I'm not saying, oh, dude, ten to two,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I'm not saying that, but he can win that fight.
- 5:21Speaker 1: But I would like to get his thoughts on it,
- 5:24Speaker 1: beyond the fact that it's on pay per view obviously, which,
- 5:27Speaker 1: like I said, it's not ideal. Let's just hope they
- 5:30Speaker 1: stack the card. I think we get what a two
- 5:33Speaker 1: month break something like that, two months without a pay
- 5:37Speaker 1: for you Holy shit, that feels good, doesn't it. And
- 5:41Speaker 1: then you know, of course current fight news there is
- 5:44Speaker 1: some some murmurs out there about Aero Spence Jervonte, YadA, YadA, YadA,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and then you know boxing Twitter. We always got to
- 5:54Speaker 1: throw in a boxing Twitter items. I should say so, right,
- 6:03Speaker 1: Ford Abraham Nova. This fight was actually on YouTube, So
- 6:09Speaker 1: if you're trying to attract on one hand, at least
- 6:13Speaker 1: you put it, I guess free on YouTube, right, I guess.
- 6:17Speaker 1: I guess you could say that to attract a US market.
- 6:22Speaker 1: But when it's like twelve thirty Central time, I don't
- 6:26Speaker 1: know about all that. I was a little surprised. But
- 6:31Speaker 1: then maybe because it was Nova instead of Kakachi, you know,
- 6:38Speaker 1: maybe that played into it. I did not realize he'd
- 6:41Speaker 1: be that early, but you know, I thought, I thought
- 6:48Speaker 1: ray Ford came out the handspeed right away was given.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Abraham Nova issues that that was evident, Like right off
- 6:59Speaker 1: the bat sharper puncher, he had his jab going, was
- 7:02Speaker 1: countering with the left hand. But you know, I would
- 7:10Speaker 1: say Ford probably as the fight went on, moved a
- 7:12Speaker 1: little bit more than I expected at times. And then Nova,
- 7:20Speaker 1: although I thought it was a clean victory, the fight
- 7:23Speaker 1: got really sloppy right and Nova had, you know, at times,
- 7:31Speaker 1: had his head in Ford's chest, kept pushing forward, working
- 7:38Speaker 1: the body. Definitely very competitive. I thought he had limited success.
- 7:44Speaker 1: The success he did have, though, is when he had
- 7:46Speaker 1: Ford on the ropes, like I said, head in the
- 7:49Speaker 1: bot in his chest, just going to town. Other times
- 7:53Speaker 1: he was smothering his work and he just got sloppy
- 7:56Speaker 1: and there was a lot of tie ups and all that.
- 7:59Speaker 1: But overall, definitely, in my opinion, a clean victory, but
- 8:05Speaker 1: a sloppy, sloppy fight for Ford in in Nova, both
- 8:08Speaker 1: of them. Hopefully Kakachi's next, you know, like he was
- 8:14Speaker 1: talking shit after the fight and maybe that, you know,
- 8:18Speaker 1: that's just the build to the next fight or for
- 8:21Speaker 1: them to fight, because obviously they already signed the contracts,
- 8:24Speaker 1: the fight was on. So my thing is talking ship's
- 8:27Speaker 1: kind of funny when when you pulled out. I'm not
- 8:30Speaker 1: saying he pulled out because he's you know, he's faking it,
- 8:34Speaker 1: but it's just it's just strange to me to to
- 8:37Speaker 1: talk shit, but you pulled out, like, I don't know, Now,
- 8:43Speaker 1: it's all good if the fight is next. If the
- 8:47Speaker 1: fight's next, then cool. If they never fight, then you're
- 8:50Speaker 1: just talking shit, you know, I don't know, but that's
- 8:54Speaker 1: that's where the fight that that should be the fight
- 8:57Speaker 1: on paper, by far, it was the close he matched.
- 9:01Speaker 1: It was that by far, odds wise, the closest. That
- 9:04Speaker 1: was the fight I was actually looking forward to, like
- 9:08Speaker 1: that was the most anticipated fight. And I think I
- 9:13Speaker 1: just mentioned it. Styles make fights. I do think that
- 9:15Speaker 1: would even that be just as competitive, probably more competitive,
- 9:19Speaker 1: but it would be more of a firefight. I like
- 9:21Speaker 1: that fight. So that's where I go. Nova just a
- 9:24Speaker 1: solid fighter man, and he for the most part did
- 9:27Speaker 1: pretty good. Like I said, he had success. He was
- 9:30Speaker 1: very competitive and even within the rounds, but I did
- 9:34Speaker 1: think Ford clearly won. Then you got Hergavic and Idoleine.
- 9:43Speaker 1: You know, Andy Lee said that one of the best
- 9:47Speaker 1: heavyweights over the last five years.
- 9:49Speaker 3: That's how we described Hergovic, one of the best. Like
- 9:54Speaker 3: that tells me you're like top two, top three, so
- 9:57Speaker 3: in the last five years.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Come on, dude, what are we doing? Anyway? I thought
- 10:04Speaker 1: Hergovic won the first two rounds with you know, basically
- 10:10Speaker 1: with the jab, the you know. In the second round though,
- 10:17Speaker 1: in a few other good lands in there, Hergovic got
- 10:21Speaker 1: what was it his right eye that came open, that
- 10:25Speaker 1: cut open. It was a pretty bad cut. They took
- 10:27Speaker 1: care of it, though I did like some of the
- 10:29Speaker 1: body work early as well.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Adeline.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I think it was a like a jab, like an
- 10:34Speaker 1: up jab that opened it up. And then in the
- 10:39Speaker 1: second Adeline, I believe it was like a left hook
- 10:45Speaker 1: or something that to me, that was or the third
- 10:49Speaker 1: I mean that that was a close, close one. I
- 10:51Speaker 1: gave her Hergovic the fourth and the fifth right hands
- 10:57Speaker 1: to the body in the head, just landing the better shots. Overall,
- 11:01Speaker 1: Adeline started to kind of gas and tie up. By
- 11:07Speaker 1: the time it was midway through this fight, he was
- 11:11Speaker 1: on the ropes more and more and like fourth, fifth, sixth,
- 11:15Speaker 1: something like that. And there was even a moment where
- 11:19Speaker 1: he took a deep, deep breath, so he knew that
- 11:22Speaker 1: he was in trouble. And you know, sorry about that.
- 11:29Speaker 1: What the hell, I just realized something. Okay, sorry, seventh round,
- 11:38Speaker 1: you know, beyond a few really good shots landed by Adeline,
- 11:43Speaker 1: nice left hooks, I think it was that was probably
- 11:45Speaker 1: his best shot of the or you know, punches of
- 11:49Speaker 1: the whole fight. I still thought that Hergovic was landing
- 11:53Speaker 1: really well. Now a right hand landed really really hard
- 11:57Speaker 1: for Hergovic.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And.
- 12:05Speaker 1: You know, there was a moment where after that Adeleine
- 12:10Speaker 1: you know, was like sticking his tongue out and screaming,
- 12:15Speaker 1: and then proceeded to get dropped. But to his credit,
- 12:19Speaker 1: he did get up in the last minute. Both of
- 12:22Speaker 1: them looked tired, you know, but he did flurry back.
- 12:26Speaker 1: So the eighth round was a really really fun round.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I gotta, I gotta give it to him, and then
- 12:34Speaker 1: you know, it just it. Basically the fight was pretty
- 12:38Speaker 1: much over after that. Adeleine, I thought he could have
- 12:44Speaker 1: done more. There were just too many times where he
- 12:48Speaker 1: was holding, and some of that was his gas tank,
- 12:52Speaker 1: but just holding, holding, holding, and then I don't know,
- 12:56Speaker 1: I just I don't think it seemed like when he
- 12:58Speaker 1: was letting his hands go that he you know, he
- 13:01Speaker 1: was doing his thing. But I don't know, I just
- 13:05Speaker 1: thought he could have done more. I really did, I think, Adeline.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I'm not saying he was a no show, because, like
- 13:10Speaker 1: I said, when he got dropped, he did, you know,
- 13:13Speaker 1: land some really good shots, and I'd say, like I
- 13:15Speaker 1: mentioned the left hook, obviously that jab that you know,
- 13:19Speaker 1: opened up the cut did a lot. But overall, I
- 13:26Speaker 1: thought he fell short. I thought that some of the
- 13:29Speaker 1: rounds were competitive, especially that eighth round, and I think
- 13:32Speaker 1: they were given more credit for the overall fight. But
- 13:39Speaker 1: then he deserved to be honest with you, because I
- 13:42Speaker 1: thought Adeline underperformed just taking those little sequences in that
- 13:48Speaker 1: last minute, the eighth and the third and in some
- 13:50Speaker 1: other rounds. I just thought that he could have done more.
- 13:54Speaker 1: He could have done more. I thought he fell short.
- 13:57Speaker 1: So Herkovic, you know, plenty of fights in the top ten,
- 14:03Speaker 1: a lot of fighters to mix it up in the
- 14:05Speaker 1: top ten overall. So I'm not gonna say an exact
- 14:08Speaker 1: name what's next, but but you know, plenty of names
- 14:11Speaker 1: for him, so hopefully he gets one of them. Adelaine,
- 14:16Speaker 1: you know, back to the drawing board, I guess. So,
- 14:21Speaker 1: Sue me. He he the body shots right off the
- 14:27Speaker 1: bat body shots. First knockdown I think was in what
- 14:32Speaker 1: the second round. The second knockdown was like a three
- 14:37Speaker 1: punch combo knocked him down, then two right hand, two
- 14:42Speaker 1: left hook knocked him down again and it was over.
- 14:47Speaker 1: So Sue me, I like this kid, I really do.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I did get some messages saying, hey, why didn't you
- 14:55Speaker 1: uh preview his fight? That's fair, But the reason why
- 15:01Speaker 1: I didn't, I just didn't think you know, I did.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I thought it'd be more like recap and say, hey,
- 15:05Speaker 1: this guy's this guy's really good. I like what I saw,
- 15:09Speaker 1: but I just didn't see reason to break that fight down.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Now you could say, I guess right. You could say
- 15:19Speaker 1: that the main event wasn't much of a fight, but
- 15:22Speaker 1: it is the main event, you know, So you're correct.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I didn't break that fight down, but and I didn't
- 15:30Speaker 1: mention it. That is fair. But honestly, I just I
- 15:34Speaker 1: was just gonna save it for the recap and be like,
- 15:36Speaker 1: this dude is a beast man. I really like him.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I really really like him, and he's better than his brother.
- 15:45Speaker 1: That's not saying I'm not even trying to shortcut him
- 15:48Speaker 1: like that, but so assumeing dude, this dude's good. He's
- 15:53Speaker 1: on a very high level, and he took care of business.
- 15:56Speaker 1: So my apologies to the person you know that messaged me,
- 16:02Speaker 1: but that that's just why I didn't do it, because
- 16:04Speaker 1: I just didn't think there was much in that fight.
- 16:06Speaker 1: To be honest with you, but like I said, you
- 16:10Speaker 1: could make the argument of the main event, it wasn't
- 16:13Speaker 1: much in that fight either. But of course I was
- 16:15Speaker 1: gonna talk about that more, Nick Ball, Sam Goodman. Goodman
- 16:22Speaker 1: performed all right, Man, this was a good good I
- 16:25Speaker 1: shouldn't even say all right. I thought he was very
- 16:28Speaker 1: very good. I gave Ball the first round. Then I
- 16:33Speaker 1: thought Goodman won the second and third. The jab making
- 16:36Speaker 1: a miss, the slight little movement, the left hooks to
- 16:40Speaker 1: the or the left hands to the body, sometimes the hook,
- 16:43Speaker 1: sometimes the straight left. I had him have a you know,
- 16:46Speaker 1: I had him with the lead, and then you know,
- 16:50Speaker 1: even like the fourth round, really really close. I you know,
- 16:57Speaker 1: I gave it to Goodman the fourth. I thought that
- 17:01Speaker 1: Goodman started out that well. Then an overhand right early
- 17:06Speaker 1: in the fifth by Ball, and Ball also started laying
- 17:11Speaker 1: his jab better than like two to three punch combos,
- 17:15Speaker 1: the jab hooks overhand more overhand rights by Ball. I
- 17:20Speaker 1: thought that was the sixth round, seventh round, very close,
- 17:24Speaker 1: very close. Could have went either way. I did give
- 17:26Speaker 1: the eighth and ninth to Goodman. He was I thought
- 17:30Speaker 1: he was standing in his ground more in those fights,
- 17:34Speaker 1: and just kind of busier, you know, a couple of
- 17:37Speaker 1: a couple of nice right hands by Ball. But overall
- 17:44Speaker 1: I did think Ball in the ninth or yeah, the
- 17:47Speaker 1: tenth sorry. The tenth and eleventh I gave him. I
- 17:51Speaker 1: gave him those two rounds, the two. The eleventh was
- 17:54Speaker 1: definitely oh, I'm sorry, hold on, I was at the ninth.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I gave him the I gave ball the tenth eleve. Yeah,
- 18:01Speaker 1: I said that right. I thought he landed better shots,
- 18:04Speaker 1: you know, whereas in the eighth and ninth, just cleaner
- 18:08Speaker 1: lands throughout the round. And like I said, he started
- 18:11Speaker 1: standing in his ground more and then much like the seventh,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I thought the twelfth was really close. And you know,
- 18:18Speaker 1: the one eighteen one ten, I mean, what the fuck
- 18:22Speaker 1: are we watching? Like? There's always just one card, And honestly,
- 18:29Speaker 1: you could probably say the same thing about the one
- 18:31Speaker 1: seventeen one eleven. One card had at one fifteen one
- 18:34Speaker 1: thirteen seven to five ball that works six five one.
- 18:41Speaker 1: But the the ten to two stuff, I did not
- 18:44Speaker 1: see a ten to two. I didn't even see a
- 18:47Speaker 1: nine to three. I mean, I'm looking at the second,
- 18:50Speaker 1: the third, the eighth, and the ninth. Those are those
- 18:54Speaker 1: four rounds. I thought those are clean. Those are four
- 18:56Speaker 1: rounds right there, uh for good men. So I feel
- 19:02Speaker 1: like the fight kind of overperformed from what I thought
- 19:09Speaker 1: it would be I thought Goodman might be a little
- 19:13Speaker 1: too defensive, and I guess you could make you know
- 19:18Speaker 1: the point at times he was, But overall I thought
- 19:21Speaker 1: he got a good start and he was fighting pretty good,
- 19:26Speaker 1: and you know, so Goodman. I wouldn't even say back
- 19:31Speaker 1: to the drawing board too much, to be honest with you,
- 19:35Speaker 1: I would say, oh, I see John pop up here,
- 19:38Speaker 1: Just be a second here, John, So yeah, I just
- 19:41Speaker 1: think that, uh, I think that Ball, you know, get
- 19:45Speaker 1: him in a big fight, man, get him in a
- 19:47Speaker 1: big fight. You know they're talking about any way, Like,
- 19:55Speaker 1: let's just let's make the Knakatani fight, dude, But I
- 19:59Speaker 1: know it's not gonna happen till next year. And by
- 20:02Speaker 1: the way, it better happened next year side note, because
- 20:06Speaker 1: they said it was gonna happen this year. So if
- 20:08Speaker 1: we can't get it next year, what the path? But Ball,
- 20:12Speaker 1: would that be a good fight for any way to
- 20:15Speaker 1: come up? You know, sure, Okay, that's fine, But like,
- 20:21Speaker 1: then does Nakatani have to come up to featherweight? Then
- 20:27Speaker 1: twenty six is not the biggest jump, But like, are
- 20:30Speaker 1: you gonna hang out and wait for Knakatana or wait, yeah,
- 20:33Speaker 1: Nakatani you're gonna, I hope so. But Ball, you know,
- 20:39Speaker 1: he's a fun fighter to watch, but I still think
- 20:43Speaker 1: he has its limits power, wildness with him, with his punches.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna go ahead and get him in here real quick.
- 20:57Speaker 1: There we go. John will be popping in here in
- 21:02Speaker 1: just a second. And so yeah, I think I think
- 21:07Speaker 1: Ball there's plenty of fights for him, and uh you know,
- 21:11Speaker 1: it's it's time to uh to get him back in
- 21:14Speaker 1: a in a really really fifty to fifty fight. But
- 21:17Speaker 1: Goodman over performed. I thought he played pretty good. Hey,
- 21:20Speaker 1: what's going on?
- 21:20Speaker 2: John? How we doing first? How's a gallon?
- 21:23Speaker 1: Not bad?
- 21:23Speaker 2: Man?
- 21:24Speaker 1: Not bad?
- 21:24Speaker 2: How are you good? Good? Can you see? Can you
- 21:27Speaker 2: see me here?
- 21:28Speaker 1: I can't see you? I mean, of course I can
- 21:30Speaker 1: see the.
- 21:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that. That's why I'm just checking here
- 21:33Speaker 4: because we can fix that so.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I can see the beautiful shot with the hills.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's my my We're not wanting to
- 21:41Speaker 4: be seen sight, but that's not what we're looking for
- 21:44Speaker 4: right now.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 21:50Speaker 1: But yeah, Ball Ball, Uh you know Nick Ball is
- 21:53Speaker 1: uh when he really gets Hey, there we go.
- 21:58Speaker 2: That's right, That's where I thought we were. But I wasn't.
- 22:00Speaker 2: So Okay, there we go. I got you, I got you.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Let me look at the hat.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Okay, got my Rockman Lewis too from Bega.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I like to break some stuff out.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I love it from the collection as you know
- 22:13Speaker 4: here and there over the weeks. But so Rockman Lewis
- 22:18Speaker 4: too from Mandalay Bay.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Man, that's in good shape too. Wow.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Yeah this one.
- 22:23Speaker 4: When I put this one on today, this one's in
- 22:24Speaker 4: better shape than some of them. But remember remember the night.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Remember the night, Well that's when that's when Lewis got
- 22:32Speaker 4: his revenge.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Yes exactly. Yeah, that man Lewis twice was just like
- 22:38Speaker 1: this close to like breaking through and then then came back.
- 22:42Speaker 1: But then he it was nice to see how his
- 22:45Speaker 1: career ended just on the up and up, you know
- 22:48Speaker 1: what I mean, And he kind of came to fruition
- 22:50Speaker 1: of like.
- 22:52Speaker 2: I guess you.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Could say somewhat potential anyway, because I think he could
- 22:58Speaker 1: have done more in a sense like fight guys maybe
- 23:01Speaker 1: closer to their prime when he got the name, but
- 23:04Speaker 1: he took care of business and you know, even the
- 23:07Speaker 1: Holy Field thing was weird, right, But it was just
- 23:11Speaker 1: nice to finally see him hit his his peak and
- 23:14Speaker 1: really show what he was about, you know.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Yeah, And it's funny because in in the time probably
- 23:23Speaker 4: really not probably, but my life when I was taken
- 23:25Speaker 4: in the most big fights in person, it coincided with
- 23:29Speaker 4: with Lewis being on his run at the top. So
- 23:34Speaker 4: I was not at the fight where he got upset
- 23:36Speaker 4: by Rockman, because you know, it was in South Africa,
- 23:39Speaker 4: Cape Town in South Africa. But you know, a lot
- 23:44Speaker 4: of his other major ones I was at. You know,
- 23:46Speaker 4: I was at the first holy Field fight in the Garden,
- 23:51Speaker 4: saw him fight too, saw him fight Rockman, and then
- 23:55Speaker 4: it happened when then you know, he was working his
- 23:59Speaker 4: way towards the top. I was at his fight with
- 24:03Speaker 4: Mercer in the in the Garden too ninety six, which
- 24:06Speaker 4: was a real good, underrated fight. I thought, I thought,
- 24:09Speaker 4: you know, Lewis did win it, but a lot of
- 24:11Speaker 4: people thought Mercer.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I thought Lewis won too, but it was
- 24:15Speaker 1: it was good.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a good fight.
- 24:17Speaker 4: So yeah, just uh, I saw him fight Grant and
- 24:23Speaker 4: the Garden. You know, it's like it was all these
- 24:25Speaker 4: Lennox Lewis fights, but those were the big fights at
- 24:28Speaker 4: the time. You know, that was a good. That was
- 24:30Speaker 4: a good HBO run for boxing. You know, you really
- 24:33Speaker 4: look back and you know the not in hindsight, you know,
- 24:37Speaker 4: historians do agree. I mean, after the seventies heavyweight era
- 24:42Speaker 4: really and I didn't realize it even at the time
- 24:45Speaker 4: when I was going to all these but you know,
- 24:46Speaker 4: the nineties heavyweights probably the second best era of all time.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good way to put it. Didn't quite
- 24:54Speaker 1: realize it. And it got funky because Tyson went to
- 24:56Speaker 1: jail and all this stuff. But like when you added
- 25:00Speaker 1: up Rinnick Bow, like when you added up right, like,
- 25:03Speaker 1: those are some you know, it's it. That was really good.
- 25:06Speaker 1: And you know they got a lot of fights between
- 25:08Speaker 1: everybody too right away too memorable fights fricking Stick and
- 25:13Speaker 1: Jeb and exactly a lot of memorable fights.
- 25:17Speaker 4: I mean, you know the fights involved in you know,
- 25:20Speaker 4: you know, look look at got to give Rick Bow credit.
- 25:23Speaker 4: I mean, look look at five look at five fights,
- 25:26Speaker 4: because you know, people, you know, he was always knocked
- 25:29Speaker 4: as not living to his potential. But then look at
- 25:32Speaker 4: look at the great fights he was involved in. I mean,
- 25:34Speaker 4: I always like to think with BO and this is nineties.
- 25:36Speaker 4: I mean, think of five fights combined with three with
- 25:40Speaker 4: holy Field, in the two with Galaa. I mean those
- 25:44Speaker 4: are some those are some memorable wars man. And that's
- 25:47Speaker 4: what took a lot out of the guy.
- 25:48Speaker 2: I mean exactly.
- 25:49Speaker 4: That wasn't not but getting taken out of him because
- 25:53Speaker 4: not living up to his potential there that was five
- 25:56Speaker 4: brutal fights.
- 25:57Speaker 1: You could say he didn't hold his potential great because
- 26:01Speaker 1: of the Waiter or whatever, but he reached his potential,
- 26:05Speaker 1: you know.
- 26:05Speaker 4: Yeah, and then you know, Lewis was in a lot.
- 26:07Speaker 4: You know, Lewis, you know, ended up having a great run.
- 26:10Speaker 4: He ended up beating every man he's ever fault because
- 26:13Speaker 4: he got revenge against Paul and he got revenge against Rockman.
- 26:17Speaker 2: But I know what you're.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Saying, like what what sometimes people now forget about Lewis,
- 26:20Speaker 4: even though we enjoyed going to all those big fights
- 26:25Speaker 4: of his, was you know, like even though they gave
- 26:28Speaker 4: him credit in the first holy Field fight.
- 26:30Speaker 2: That was that I that you know, I was at.
- 26:32Speaker 4: You know, he really didn't he really didn't look good
- 26:35Speaker 4: and and you know he got a benefit of the
- 26:38Speaker 4: doubt in the rematch with holy Field because everybody was saying,
- 26:42Speaker 4: oh the draw was fight and you really look at
- 26:45Speaker 4: that second fight.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Lewis got a lot.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Of benefit of doubt on the scorecardist, but still the
- 26:54Speaker 4: run he went on and you know he only you know,
- 26:56Speaker 4: he beat beat both guys he lost to and the
- 26:59Speaker 4: other thing.
- 26:59Speaker 2: I think he is getting starting to get credit for
- 27:01Speaker 2: this now.
- 27:02Speaker 4: And when you look at his whole career, even though
- 27:04Speaker 4: it doesn't seem like it, when you think he thought
- 27:06Speaker 4: a heavyweight, you really do have to think hard about it.
- 27:10Speaker 4: I Mean, the only two times he was down was
- 27:14Speaker 4: in the two losses, one time to McCall and one
- 27:17Speaker 4: time to Rockman. Guy was not missus heavyweight. I was
- 27:21Speaker 4: not down you know the rest of his career, right, Yeah.
- 27:25Speaker 1: And at least he took care of business when he
- 27:28Speaker 1: fought Tyson. Yeah, I mean he handled that fight like
- 27:31Speaker 1: it was supposed to be handled, you know.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Yeah, he got it done and he blew out Ruddick.
- 27:35Speaker 4: I mean that was that was really you know then
- 27:40Speaker 4: some people were high and some people were and I
- 27:42Speaker 4: was still wondering that that was the first fight that
- 27:44Speaker 4: jumped out at you for with him, that really really
- 27:47Speaker 4: jumped out.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I always questioned him, so it was my us biasness.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Oh yeah, there was different that we still had some heavyweight,
- 27:56Speaker 2: so right, you were like, I don't know, and.
- 27:59Speaker 1: I finally gave his dude like okay, okay, you know,
- 28:04Speaker 1: but but it just, you know, I always I kind
- 28:07Speaker 1: of felt for him because it was he was right
- 28:09Speaker 1: there and then he gets starched, you know, and you're like, oh,
- 28:12Speaker 1: you know, but after a while you just couldn't couldn't
- 28:16Speaker 1: help but to be like, wow, this guy's come back
- 28:18Speaker 1: from all this stuff, and like I said, he got
- 28:22Speaker 1: to hit his peak and so he turned out to
- 28:25Speaker 1: be a great fighter, you know.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Yeah, And plus I don't think he got I don't
- 28:28Speaker 4: even think he got enough credit for his finale and
- 28:30Speaker 4: against Fiddley Clitchko, because yes, Clitchgo was giving him a
- 28:34Speaker 4: lot of trouble.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Remember my son was little.
- 28:36Speaker 4: And he was enthralled by that fight because that was
- 28:38Speaker 4: just two huge guys. He was watching bag and I
- 28:41Speaker 4: was like, Dad, look at this, and I was like,
- 28:43Speaker 4: I know, but he does get enough credit because yeah,
- 28:47Speaker 4: Clitchko was giving him some moments and it was tough,
- 28:50Speaker 4: but you know, Lewis ended up busting him up.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I mean it was like Alwa's pisses me off so
- 28:56Speaker 1: many times. If it wasn't for that.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Eye was he was busted aboup.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I mean like he was headbutting him and that's why
- 29:04Speaker 1: his eye was like that.
- 29:05Speaker 2: You know, he was just banging him with right hands.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Then you know he was fine in the range and
- 29:10Speaker 4: he was he was dropping bombs on him, you know
- 29:13Speaker 4: when he got his rhythm and you know, of course
- 29:16Speaker 4: it was a bad cut, but it was from taking
- 29:17Speaker 4: It was from Lewis.
- 29:20Speaker 1: A bunch of head butts, you know, that was that
- 29:22Speaker 1: was But he was smart.
- 29:24Speaker 4: You know, it was a good it was good ended on.
- 29:25Speaker 4: But I think he because Viddye Flitch went on a
- 29:28Speaker 4: good run after exactly and it was a good you know.
- 29:34Speaker 4: So the era, the era is looking really good in hindsight.
- 29:39Speaker 4: And one thing I was saying, this guy wrote for
- 29:42Speaker 4: k L a little bit at the time. This was
- 29:44Speaker 4: you know, because this could even give people social media history.
- 29:49Speaker 4: I mean, you know, and this was in the nineties.
- 29:53Speaker 4: You know, ao L had those chat boards. There was
- 29:56Speaker 4: like a there was a boxing one that would be
- 29:59Speaker 4: the equivalent of life. We're on X now, yeh know,
- 30:02Speaker 4: Twitter and X. It was like what the equivalent of
- 30:05Speaker 4: that would have been and I remember as a guy
- 30:08Speaker 4: that wrote part time young guy, but he wrote part.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Time for Ko magazine to May.
- 30:14Speaker 4: I'm actually crediting him here to May a nice guy too,
- 30:17Speaker 4: And he was on there and he was real politely
- 30:20Speaker 4: saying it like I was like, again, some with us
- 30:23Speaker 4: bias and then then you're thinking of some of the
- 30:26Speaker 4: bias of like having lived through the seventies guys. And
- 30:29Speaker 4: this was early on in the nineties when the Heavy
- 30:31Speaker 4: Eights it was just starting to form, like we're talking,
- 30:34Speaker 4: but you hadn't really seen how good it was yet.
- 30:37Speaker 4: He but he called it. I was like a lot
- 30:39Speaker 4: of these guys aren't that good, And he's like, I
- 30:42Speaker 4: don't know, Let's see how this plays out. You know,
- 30:44Speaker 4: if you really look at who's in the top ten, now,
- 30:48Speaker 4: this might play out well. And he was absolutely right,
- 30:53Speaker 4: like he played out as the second best air of
- 30:56Speaker 4: all time. Like at that time, even though I didn't
- 30:58Speaker 4: think it was a good era, I was talking about
- 31:01Speaker 4: some of the Homes era guys like, oh, you know
- 31:04Speaker 4: they were better than some of these guys. Well, it
- 31:08Speaker 4: turned out like outside of Larry Holmes himself, like the
- 31:11Speaker 4: nineties era was you know, it was better I mean, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 31:15Speaker 4: Well Witherspoon did you know, Yeah, he did revive you know,
- 31:19Speaker 4: so he made a case there. I mean, but that's
- 31:21Speaker 4: the other side of the coin. I mean, a guy
- 31:23Speaker 4: like Witherspoon revived himself. He had a good run for
- 31:25Speaker 4: a while there in.
- 31:26Speaker 1: The nineties eighties, like the bridge of bridging the gap.
- 31:30Speaker 1: You know, it was like to kind of rebuild up,
- 31:33Speaker 1: but there's still good I mean Holmes, you know, like
- 31:37Speaker 1: I don't care what happened in that Tyson fight, Holmes,
- 31:39Speaker 1: damn good fighter.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Well then Holmes revived himself and yeah, he ended up
- 31:43Speaker 2: being part of the nine. That's weird is Holmes and
- 31:46Speaker 2: Foremen great guys from the other eras right, they revived
- 31:50Speaker 2: themselves and became part of the Great nineties era.
- 31:53Speaker 4: But that's what's so cool about it too, is like
- 31:55Speaker 4: that is part of the greatness of the era is
- 31:58Speaker 4: you had a revived Foreman and a revived Home as
- 32:02Speaker 4: legit top ten guys and Infeman winning the Linear in
- 32:06Speaker 4: ninety four.
- 32:07Speaker 1: So you know, yeah, my uh, my dad and his
- 32:12Speaker 1: buddies when we'd be watching fights as really young, he
- 32:14Speaker 1: would they would all call me homes randomly as like
- 32:18Speaker 1: my little nickname until Tyson came around. The younger guys like,
- 32:22Speaker 1: hold on, I don't want that nickname anymore. I got
- 32:25Speaker 1: my guy Mike, you know. Oh yeah. And you know
- 32:30Speaker 1: it's fitting obviously that we're having this conversation because we
- 32:33Speaker 1: now have a young future guy who does look the part,
- 32:37Speaker 1: not just because of this fight, but looks the part.
- 32:40Speaker 2: That's what I figured. It's a good it's a good
- 32:41Speaker 2: timing for it.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. And you know, this last run for the
- 32:47Speaker 1: last decade, let's say, you know, it had entertainment. We
- 32:54Speaker 1: did get some really good fights out of it. We
- 32:56Speaker 1: had some upsets, the We's upset of aj like he had,
- 33:00Speaker 1: the Usak Joshua fights. Both those are good fights, you know,
- 33:02Speaker 1: like we had a lot. It was like it kind
- 33:04Speaker 1: of just mustered up a competitiveness and it made me
- 33:08Speaker 1: appreciate it more than the CLIs than the the or
- 33:11Speaker 1: Vladimir klitch go era.
- 33:13Speaker 2: That's exactly the way I see it. I see it
- 33:15Speaker 2: was really high, but it was fun. You know.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Now I see that to this and I see this
- 33:21Speaker 4: era and really Usak topping it off kind of makes
- 33:24Speaker 4: the case even better for that. True this that's the
- 33:29Speaker 4: way exactly the way I see it. This era right
- 33:32Speaker 4: last ten years or so is a good way of
- 33:34Speaker 4: looking at it. It's settling down because because now we
- 33:38Speaker 4: are reaching the end of this era. I mean, that's
- 33:41Speaker 4: kind of clear with the ages of who was a
- 33:43Speaker 4: factor and where they're at in their career. You know,
- 33:45Speaker 4: Ushik hasn't slipped yet, but he's thirty eight nobody, so you.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Know we're nearing the end of this era.
- 33:52Speaker 4: He's proven to be the best guy of it too,
- 33:55Speaker 4: so you know that's worth noting.
- 33:59Speaker 2: But I I've to the same conclusion.
- 34:01Speaker 4: You know, you can make the case for the Vlad
- 34:04Speaker 4: and vitally being better than these guys, and we are
- 34:07Speaker 4: at a point where you can make the case that
- 34:10Speaker 4: Usak's better than those two. If you want to make
- 34:12Speaker 4: that case, you can make it. It's not I don't
- 34:15Speaker 4: think it's concrete yet, but but I feel the same
- 34:19Speaker 4: way I do feel it was. It's entertainment, definitely, and
- 34:24Speaker 4: I think beyond entertainment, I feel the depth of this
- 34:28Speaker 4: era is is better than that Clitch goes deeper than I.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Thought as the time when you know went on, like
- 34:35Speaker 1: you said, with Usak topping it off, it is deeper
- 34:40Speaker 1: and funner. You know, it was just fun. People nowadays
- 34:45Speaker 1: just get stuck into like sometimes it's just like enjoy
- 34:49Speaker 1: the damn fights, Like why do we have to rank everything?
- 34:52Speaker 1: Why do we have to know this is to have
- 34:54Speaker 1: a big debate about something that just like when Husak,
- 34:57Speaker 1: you know, just got done dispatching the bamb for the
- 35:00Speaker 1: second time and they're trying to rank this guy's like
- 35:03Speaker 1: crazy high. It's like, dude, why don't you just respect Usik?
- 35:06Speaker 1: Like why do we have to do all this shit?
- 35:08Speaker 2: You know?
- 35:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I saw a credible article today. I'm trying to
- 35:11Speaker 4: think of what context it was. It was also addressing
- 35:14Speaker 4: something else, but it wasn't. But I always look as
- 35:17Speaker 4: a legitimate site or source, not it was like a
- 35:21Speaker 4: legitimate site, your source, And I think I know what
- 35:24Speaker 4: it was. It was a legitimate size site or source.
- 35:27Speaker 4: And they were talking about Dubois having the trainer switch.
- 35:31Speaker 4: But then it said in the same article and I'm like,
- 35:34Speaker 4: I can't believe I'm even repeating this the guy had
- 35:38Speaker 4: in the article and it was I'm trying. It was
- 35:40Speaker 4: a credible It was a credible source. Yeah that you know.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Of course, of course you can make the case though,
- 35:47Speaker 4: that Dubois just lost to the best ever and the
- 35:51Speaker 4: guy was serious, and I'm like, dude, what the best ever?
- 35:57Speaker 4: You know, look, there's only one way you even and
- 36:00Speaker 4: this is not what they're saying, and this is why
- 36:02Speaker 4: it's screwed up. And back to what we said a
- 36:05Speaker 4: few weeks ago. The only case you can make for
- 36:07Speaker 4: that is, yes, you're trying to say, like the literal
- 36:12Speaker 4: who he beats too, and you think Usik just in
- 36:15Speaker 4: modern training and all that, because of that, he beats everybody.
- 36:19Speaker 4: But that's not what these guys are talking every day sport.
- 36:23Speaker 4: But but they're not talking that way. They're talking like historically,
- 36:27Speaker 4: like he's the best ever. And I'm like, the guy,
- 36:31Speaker 4: he's got the real title that he just won against Fury,
- 36:37Speaker 4: and then he beat Fury in a rematch and he
- 36:40Speaker 4: beat u Boat.
- 36:41Speaker 2: That makes him the best.
- 36:42Speaker 4: Ever, I mean, because when you're talking historical, that's what
- 36:46Speaker 4: you're looking at. You're not looking at this cruiserweight stuff much,
- 36:50Speaker 4: you know, a little bit, not much, you know, you're
- 36:53Speaker 4: not looking at all this alphabet stuff. Doesn't matter how
- 36:56Speaker 4: many alphabet bet belts he had. You know, he beat
- 36:58Speaker 4: the lineal guy Fury in a good fight. Then he
- 37:02Speaker 4: made a defense against Fury and he beat Dubois in
- 37:05Speaker 4: a rematch. I mean that makes you the best heavyweight ever,
- 37:09Speaker 4: like historically, that makes no sense.
- 37:12Speaker 1: And like we said, a Coo westgo, you'd have to
- 37:14Speaker 1: have Fury like third best. Yeah, I mean they're not
- 37:18Speaker 1: willing to do that though, you know, it's like, well
- 37:21Speaker 1: it would have to be you'd have to be a
- 37:23Speaker 1: second or third if you're gonna say that he's the best.
- 37:26Speaker 4: But you know, you're you know, that is a good point,
- 37:28Speaker 4: Chris and I hadn't thought about it that way, but
- 37:30Speaker 4: that's a damn good point, right. If he's the best ever, Yeah,
- 37:33Speaker 4: Fury's a top ten heavyweight of all time, then.
- 37:35Speaker 1: You have to be high up there, top five at least,
- 37:38Speaker 1: because he doesn't put that many fights, you know, anyway
- 37:42Speaker 1: to to you know, on his resume. And it's not
- 37:44Speaker 1: just because we're actually saying something doesn't mean it's a
- 37:47Speaker 1: rip on Hoosik, because they don't do this like disrespect
- 37:52Speaker 1: what he's done, right, which is like phenomenal, you.
- 37:57Speaker 4: Know, but when you're really evaluating it, Yes, highly ranked
- 38:00Speaker 4: guys in the legit top ten no debate about that
- 38:03Speaker 4: which counts. Don't get any wrong accounts. But with that understood,
- 38:07Speaker 4: this is where people get into that confusion. I mean,
- 38:09Speaker 4: as we sit here today, Joshua hasn't been lineal champ
- 38:13Speaker 4: for a day in his career, right, and you know
- 38:16Speaker 4: you really can't I mean, I don't think he should
- 38:18Speaker 4: be saying it doesn't matter in any of the traditional divisions,
- 38:22Speaker 4: especially but you know, you know, again, historical people will
- 38:28Speaker 4: tend to agree that even if you're not as crazy
- 38:32Speaker 4: about continuing with lineal, it matters that heavyweight. I mean,
- 38:37Speaker 4: your historian is going to say that because you know
- 38:40Speaker 4: it's not divided up by any junior.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Divisions basically and anything like that, even though you have
- 38:44Speaker 2: cruiser weight and trying to bridgeways it's not.
- 38:48Speaker 4: Right, right, and you know, right, and then you know
- 38:52Speaker 4: usiks showing it the cruiser weight part, you know, I mean,
- 38:55Speaker 4: he's we moved up to heavyweight and then then he's
- 38:58Speaker 4: won it, So we're dealing in those terms. But you know,
- 39:02Speaker 4: to really to stretch to make the case for USIK
- 39:05Speaker 4: the best you can, you I mean, you just got
- 39:09Speaker 4: to say he beat a lot of legit contenders, because
- 39:11Speaker 4: if you if you look at his cruiserweight run. They
- 39:15Speaker 4: would have been heavyweights in the old days, and some
- 39:19Speaker 4: of those guys, like a like a breedist type or
- 39:22Speaker 4: a gasie have might have been they might have been
- 39:25Speaker 4: in the fringe of the top ten at heavyweight. So
- 39:27Speaker 4: you know, he's gaining a few more top ten, legit
- 39:31Speaker 4: top ten victories, but that's not enough to make you
- 39:34Speaker 4: the greatest of all time.
- 39:35Speaker 2: I mean, well, I.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Guess you could go, you'd have to work per capita
- 39:38Speaker 1: with him, because if you say, well, he didn't have
- 39:41Speaker 1: many fights, so in those fights, you know, sure, you know,
- 39:46Speaker 1: I do per capita with Minnesota a lot, you know,
- 39:49Speaker 1: like about it, But overall, I just yeah, I don't
- 39:52Speaker 1: know what it is. But it just irks me. It's
- 39:56Speaker 1: like it totally takes away from him, right.
- 40:00Speaker 4: But let me let me throw something instance, since it's
- 40:02Speaker 4: gonna fit and we're talking about it, it's a good fit,
- 40:05Speaker 4: so we can kind of get right to it in
- 40:06Speaker 4: that sense, because it's like, well, we talked a couple
- 40:09Speaker 4: of weeks ago, so a tauma. You know, I don't
- 40:14Speaker 4: I don't think this k over white really means anything.
- 40:18Speaker 4: Particularly odds makers, as we pointed out, not enough people did.
- 40:23Speaker 4: I mean, I pointed out again right before the fight.
- 40:28Speaker 4: I mean it was favored to be a first or
- 40:31Speaker 4: second round KO by the oddsmakers.
- 40:34Speaker 1: No white and like great shape supposedly wait yees, you know.
- 40:37Speaker 2: But you know he hadn't he hadn't been very active.
- 40:39Speaker 4: But what I'm kind of getting what I'm getting to too,
- 40:42Speaker 4: since it's already been mentioned again and it's not ideal.
- 40:46Speaker 4: I mean, it might there might be too much of
- 40:48Speaker 4: an experienced gap. But you and I agree on this.
- 40:51Speaker 4: I think most people seem to be too Like you know,
- 40:55Speaker 4: Usik Parker doesn't do anything for me. I mean, it
- 40:58Speaker 4: just doesn't excite me unless Usick falls off a cliff.
- 41:01Speaker 4: Like I said, I don't give Parker any shot. Like
- 41:05Speaker 4: the Autama things got an air of like mystery, which
- 41:09Speaker 4: can sell a fight, you know, and sometimes contrary to
- 41:12Speaker 4: what people think, you think he might be this great
- 41:15Speaker 4: of a prospect. But prospect still is prospect, even though
- 41:19Speaker 4: now he's at like number ten, So like it's not
- 41:22Speaker 4: a certainty. Maybe you make more money, Maybe you do
- 41:25Speaker 4: make more money now by building this up. Yeah, yeah,
- 41:30Speaker 4: and you know this mystery mystery young guy? Is he
- 41:33Speaker 4: a phenom he's gonna fight usick husicks getting older.
- 41:36Speaker 2: You kind of sell that aspect of it.
- 41:38Speaker 4: What I'm kind of saying is like the Parker fight
- 41:40Speaker 4: to me, doesn't excite anybody. I think Caviel would be
- 41:44Speaker 4: a better challenge. I'm not saying I'm picking him to
- 41:46Speaker 4: beat Ustik, but the fight I've been saying for like
- 41:49Speaker 4: the last year, and people they don't like because they say, oh, no,
- 41:53Speaker 4: Parker deserves a shot and and uh, you know, why.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Would he do that?
- 41:57Speaker 4: He saying that, and right, But I look at it
- 42:00Speaker 4: this way. What I because the fight I want to
- 42:03Speaker 4: see is like Parker and Cabel. Let then whoever wins
- 42:06Speaker 4: that be viewed as a more legitimate threat, which will
- 42:11Speaker 4: be the right, which will be the case right, and
- 42:14Speaker 4: Cabell is in his prime. I want to see Parker
- 42:16Speaker 4: against a not old guy. And yah, I've been saying
- 42:20Speaker 4: that for for you know, a couple of years. Ye
- 42:24Speaker 4: came here, right, and that you know, like that would
- 42:28Speaker 4: make and like to me, now with the Saudi factor,
- 42:31Speaker 4: like they can pay it, so like you know, I
- 42:34Speaker 4: don't think Parker frankly is gonna It's still gonna be
- 42:37Speaker 4: about money. Like if they say, hey, you know, we're
- 42:40Speaker 4: not gonna have you fight Usk right now, but we're
- 42:42Speaker 4: going to give you this exorbitant amount to fight Tabel
- 42:45Speaker 4: on a big card.
- 42:46Speaker 2: We're gonna do. I think he takes it. I mean
- 42:50Speaker 2: so because you know, you know, he probably probably.
- 42:52Speaker 1: To drop the belt thing again, be like, hell, you
- 42:54Speaker 1: want to belt, here's your belt and take your little belt,
- 42:57Speaker 1: you know, and fight for it. But really you're in
- 43:00Speaker 1: the fight, you know.
- 43:01Speaker 4: And as much as I hate that, maybe that's the
- 43:03Speaker 4: way to do it. Like I hate that, but they could.
- 43:05Speaker 4: It's alphabets, alphabets do whatever they want, so for for
- 43:10Speaker 4: the fool for the fools that out there that need that. Yeah,
- 43:12Speaker 4: they could strip Usik of a belt and it have
- 43:15Speaker 4: Cabel fight Parker for And I hate that stuff.
- 43:17Speaker 1: But there'll be an interim though, because Lusik did apply
- 43:21Speaker 1: for an injury something, so it'll probably be injured.
- 43:25Speaker 4: It's just it's just absurd, like like they're they're they're
- 43:28Speaker 4: talking about du Bois too, you know, his camp, they're
- 43:32Speaker 4: talking with the Trader Change. They want him to be
- 43:34Speaker 4: two time heavyweight champ of the world, and I'm thinking
- 43:37Speaker 4: he wasn't even one time heavyweight champ in the world.
- 43:39Speaker 2: They you know, I mean, how could he be champ
- 43:42Speaker 2: of the world when the champion of the world's got
- 43:44Speaker 2: to knock him out exactly twice? Now twice now, and
- 43:48Speaker 2: I saw something is going to do a damn thing.
- 43:52Speaker 2: That was a that was a bit of.
- 43:53Speaker 4: A strange one because that three fight run revived the
- 43:56Speaker 4: guy's career. Now, granted, in this fight I criticized him
- 44:01Speaker 4: for it, like the part that and you know he's
- 44:04Speaker 4: taken a lot of heat that way, but it's from
- 44:06Speaker 4: fight from ex fighters too, like you know, the old
- 44:10Speaker 4: we know who six great, but like the old Dubois,
- 44:13Speaker 4: the old bad Dubois completely came out just the way
- 44:16Speaker 4: it ended, you know, the performance, you know, the look
- 44:22Speaker 4: of the mentality.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Yeah, so especially that.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Now he did have Charles trained him for that.
- 44:28Speaker 4: But but Charles had him looking like a different guy
- 44:31Speaker 4: for three fights.
- 44:33Speaker 1: So he didn't plan the pre party either.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Right, right, the pre party, I mean.
- 44:38Speaker 1: I guess that the pre party wasn't planned by the
- 44:40Speaker 1: by the coach.
- 44:41Speaker 4: There, No, And there were some people speculating that that
- 44:44Speaker 4: this it's like him and his Dubois and his father.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Right that are getting ridd of Charles. But strange.
- 44:52Speaker 4: It's kind of strange really, because all right, this was bad,
- 44:55Speaker 4: but Dubois had the three fight run. I mean, I'll
- 44:58Speaker 4: say it again, we want to advance. I mean, if
- 45:01Speaker 4: we know, we know it. It was an embarrassing obliteration.
- 45:05Speaker 4: But if I were Joshua, I'd roll the dice and think,
- 45:10Speaker 4: you know this, this might be a this guy might
- 45:12Speaker 4: be a somebody when I go on there in a
- 45:14Speaker 4: killer be killed situation to be dramatic, but it is
- 45:17Speaker 4: heavyweight boxing, and I just come out this time and
- 45:20Speaker 4: start start unloading some bombs right from the opening bell.
- 45:25Speaker 4: This dude might go, Yeah, this dude might go first,
- 45:28Speaker 4: you know, and it might happen.
- 45:29Speaker 2: You know, it could go. It would still would be
- 45:31Speaker 2: something that could go either way to me.
- 45:33Speaker 4: But I'm curious about that now, Like you know, if
- 45:40Speaker 4: Joshua gets in there and starts getting off.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Some bombs on Dubois early, he might get him out there.
- 45:50Speaker 1: But yeah, and it was a fun fight, you know,
- 45:52Speaker 1: so yeah, that that might be. That might be they
- 45:56Speaker 1: might they might be able to that. I could see that.
- 46:00Speaker 1: I can see that. Just you know, there's not much
- 46:05Speaker 1: to talk about from the actual fight, right of course,
- 46:09Speaker 1: you know, the like the left hands and hooks to
- 46:13Speaker 1: the body. The fast hands were there. People were talking
- 46:18Speaker 1: about early stop it. It's like, okay, yeah, great, but
- 46:21Speaker 1: he was done. You know, I'm not worry now. If
- 46:24Speaker 1: he was in his prime or something, it had never
- 46:26Speaker 1: been knocked out, Okay, then then I would be like, hey, man,
- 46:29Speaker 1: let him, let him go a little bit more. But
- 46:31Speaker 1: you know, at this age and all that, the stoppa
- 46:34Speaker 1: should't bug me whatsoever. But let's just talk about Moses.
- 46:40Speaker 1: You know, whether it's Bakoli or ward Lee or Hergevic
- 46:44Speaker 1: or you know, there's names he can develop with before
- 46:48Speaker 1: just jumping because you know, of course, like we called
- 46:50Speaker 1: it's ousick next, let's do it. Well, let's just get
- 46:53Speaker 1: Let's not rush it though, you know, let the guy
- 46:56Speaker 1: fight and who's like is used to fighting once a
- 46:59Speaker 1: year or two in looking good like Mayweather used to.
- 47:02Speaker 1: So talk about Moses though, because the guy does have
- 47:07Speaker 1: a handspeed, he's got timing, he can counter. Well, where
- 47:10Speaker 1: are you at with him as a now, you know, contender?
- 47:14Speaker 1: I think you could call him a contender. He is prospect,
- 47:16Speaker 1: but he's like you said, he just moved in the
- 47:18Speaker 1: top top ten.
- 47:20Speaker 4: Yeah, ring and tran and I agree with Transnational. You know,
- 47:24Speaker 4: in the voting on the board, I said, you know,
- 47:27Speaker 4: they proposed him at ten, which ended up being agreed upon.
- 47:30Speaker 4: Some people were against it, but I said, I'll take
- 47:33Speaker 4: him at ten, no higher but ten. And then I
- 47:35Speaker 4: saw the ring. The ring also you ten. So we
- 47:38Speaker 4: have a we have a non that's the year two
- 47:41Speaker 4: non alphabets, so we have a non alphabet consensus that
- 47:45Speaker 4: is number ten, which you can go on. Really, I
- 47:47Speaker 4: mean that's you know, that's not the alphabets. So, yeah,
- 47:52Speaker 4: he's just now he's entered the top ten at ten.
- 47:56Speaker 4: He's still brilliant, basically a prospect even though he's top ten.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm you know, of course it's good that he's right.
- 48:04Speaker 2: They are getting a lot of people out of there
- 48:06Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 48:07Speaker 4: I'm not down on them, but I'm not like, I'm
- 48:11Speaker 4: not as high on him yet as everybody else like.
- 48:14Speaker 4: To me, it's just the opposition at this point. And
- 48:18Speaker 4: I like to go on eye test. I probably like
- 48:20Speaker 4: to go on eye test more than a lot of people.
- 48:23Speaker 4: And I'm not saying I don't see some good things,
- 48:25Speaker 4: but for me, this level of opposition, I can't I
- 48:30Speaker 4: can't make a call.
- 48:31Speaker 2: I don't.
- 48:32Speaker 4: I don't feel I have a call yet on him. Now,
- 48:35Speaker 4: like some of these guys like you mentioned, they're they're
- 48:39Speaker 4: limited enough that you'd feel good about him likely beating them,
- 48:43Speaker 4: like Herkovic and uh, you know, Herkovics.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Just hasn't progressed to me.
- 48:48Speaker 4: And now you know he's got the problem with the cuts,
- 48:52Speaker 4: you know, so he's vulnerable there. And we saw you know, heavyweight,
- 48:55Speaker 4: anybody can get hurt. You gotta be fair. But you
- 48:58Speaker 4: know we saw him just get stop. He was he
- 49:01Speaker 4: was out on his feet for a moment against Zang
- 49:04Speaker 4: and you know Zang didn't finish him. Now Zang could bang.
- 49:06Speaker 4: But you know so I think people talk about that next.
- 49:10Speaker 4: That would probably be good for trauma. I think that
- 49:13Speaker 4: would probably be a good one for him.
- 49:18Speaker 1: You know, you have at least he's got to get
- 49:20Speaker 1: past the jab in right hand, you know what I mean.
- 49:22Speaker 1: So it is a test for him.
- 49:24Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, Bacoli's Becoli's easy to hit. He's kind
- 49:27Speaker 4: of right there for I mean, that wouldn't that's about it.
- 49:32Speaker 4: I mean, Dubois, you know he's got the power there.
- 49:37Speaker 4: But that performance, you know against Ustick, even though Azustik
- 49:42Speaker 4: was not good.
- 49:44Speaker 2: You know, the win to me now, the win over
- 49:47Speaker 2: Herkovic's like, you know, Herkovic got caught. I don't know,
- 49:50Speaker 2: you know, and.
- 49:52Speaker 4: I mean already beat Miller, you know, stopped took some
- 49:55Speaker 4: shots early, then stopped him late. But you know, he
- 49:58Speaker 4: blew away Joshua. I mean, which it was impressive, but
- 50:02Speaker 4: I'm like, in hindsight now I'm just wondering if that's
- 50:05Speaker 4: just like these two guys have power and and chins
- 50:08Speaker 4: that aren't the greatest, and it's some situation like whoever
- 50:12Speaker 4: whoever gets home big first enough is going to win
- 50:17Speaker 4: when those two guys fight.
- 50:19Speaker 2: That's just kind of where I'm changing.
- 50:20Speaker 1: So I think, wait and see mode.
- 50:23Speaker 4: I'm more I'm waiting to see on Automa than I
- 50:25Speaker 4: am on some people. Not because I'm down on them,
- 50:28Speaker 4: but I test them. I usually do feel I'm ready
- 50:31Speaker 4: to make.
- 50:32Speaker 2: The call him.
- 50:32Speaker 4: I'm just kind of like I just the oppositions, like
- 50:36Speaker 4: like White, even in his quote unquote prime, I think
- 50:39Speaker 4: people overrate White. I mean, he's always been limited to me,
- 50:43Speaker 4: doesn't take the greatest shot. He's limited, and you know
- 50:46Speaker 4: now he's old and semi active, and he looked like
- 50:50Speaker 4: he didn't want to be there, So you know, I
- 50:53Speaker 4: just I just can't take much. I mean, really, you
- 50:56Speaker 4: look at the way this one played out. What what
- 50:59Speaker 4: can you take from?
- 51:00Speaker 2: You know?
- 51:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 51:01Speaker 4: And it's not like he was just out from taking
- 51:04Speaker 4: a bomb, like he hit him with a combination. It
- 51:06Speaker 4: was like a bomb. I mean, White was just looked
- 51:08Speaker 4: like a guy that didn't want to be there. And
- 51:10Speaker 4: I don't want to take away from Atama because that's
- 51:12Speaker 4: White's fault. And he did the job like you get
- 51:15Speaker 4: a guy out of there like that in in a round,
- 51:18Speaker 4: and I give atom a credit for that because that
- 51:21Speaker 4: that shows me something above other people. Like if he
- 51:25Speaker 4: was a total fraud, that's really all I was looking for.
- 51:27Speaker 4: Saturday was like I was like, you know, if he's
- 51:30Speaker 4: a total fraud, he'll have trouble with White, right, Like
- 51:35Speaker 4: not because White, to me, was bringing that much. That's
- 51:38Speaker 4: what I mean, Like if if Automa was just a fraud,
- 51:41Speaker 4: so you know, it was the opposite. He got the
- 51:43Speaker 4: guy out of here and won like like he should.
- 51:46Speaker 4: So that's good. But I just I'm still with him
- 51:51Speaker 4: more than some others. I'm just still on wait and
- 51:53Speaker 4: see on him. I gotta I gotta see a little
- 51:56Speaker 4: bit better opposition.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the thing. And in we know nowadays is
- 52:02Speaker 1: not what it was like, the way you develop and
- 52:06Speaker 1: all that. And Tyson had that run of you know,
- 52:10Speaker 1: I think people overrate Tyson, but I think they also
- 52:14Speaker 1: underrate how many guys he fought in the top ten
- 52:18Speaker 1: and took care of or just one for you know,
- 52:21Speaker 1: up until where he went to jail, you know, like
- 52:23Speaker 1: he did face a lot of guys in the top
- 52:26Speaker 1: ten though once he got going. And I think people
- 52:29Speaker 1: are like ligning up their age John right now and
- 52:32Speaker 1: be like, dude, who's better at well, hold on, what
- 52:34Speaker 1: do you mean by twenty one? He's twenty By twenty
- 52:37Speaker 1: one he had fought way better guys.
- 52:40Speaker 4: Well, and there's another thing. There's another thing I think
- 52:42Speaker 4: you got to watch too. Of course, things are different.
- 52:45Speaker 4: The amateur system is not as poupa or as it
- 52:48Speaker 4: used to be. I get all that, you know, the
- 52:50Speaker 4: Olympics boxing is not as pauper as he used to be.
- 52:53Speaker 2: But like you know, see sometimes peopleople.
- 52:57Speaker 4: Forget then when the guys become famous in the pros,
- 53:01Speaker 4: if they hadn't won an Olympic gold. Sometimes people forget
- 53:04Speaker 4: what their amateur backgrounds were, and that that can be
- 53:08Speaker 4: misleading because they missed stuff. Like in other words, with
- 53:11Speaker 4: a lot of people who did become end up becoming great.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Like you know, I mean Tyson lost in the Olympic trials,
- 53:17Speaker 4: you know, to Henry Tilman. I mean, like and he
- 53:19Speaker 4: and Tyson was a huge favorite. I'm not saying that
- 53:22Speaker 4: like that bad on Tyson, but i mean, like, you know,
- 53:25Speaker 4: that's where his amateur career, you know, he was, Yeah,
- 53:29Speaker 4: he was one step from being in the eighty eighty
- 53:31Speaker 4: four Olympics in Los Angeles on the US team, where
- 53:36Speaker 4: he then would have won a gold because Tilman won one.
- 53:39Speaker 4: So you know, and Tim Tilman, you know, didn't prove
- 53:42Speaker 4: to be you know, have to of course, any anything
- 53:46Speaker 4: on the level of Mike Tyson.
- 53:50Speaker 1: You know.
- 53:50Speaker 4: So I mean like like o Toama doesn't have that,
- 53:53Speaker 4: you know, he doesn't have that kind of back you know,
- 53:54Speaker 4: he doesn't have that kind of background either. So they're
- 53:57Speaker 4: like right, like you're saying they're comparing in their age
- 53:58Speaker 4: and stuff. I'm like, yeah, but you're look look at
- 54:01Speaker 4: the way the system was back then and stuff. I
- 54:04Speaker 4: mean Tyson was the favorite in the Olympic trials in
- 54:07Speaker 4: eighty four, you know, lost to Tillman, you know, and
- 54:14Speaker 4: I'm thinking in that system, I think you know, he
- 54:17Speaker 4: lost to him twice, you know, like like Tilman had
- 54:20Speaker 4: to beat him twice by decision and he did it.
- 54:24Speaker 4: I'm doing that right off the top of my head.
- 54:25Speaker 4: But like you're right, yeah, I think, yeah, but like Tyson,
- 54:28Speaker 4: you know, Tyson was the big favorite to be on
- 54:30Speaker 4: a team.
- 54:30Speaker 2: But why I'm saying all that is like, you know,
- 54:33Speaker 2: this guy, you know, he was on the radar in
- 54:35Speaker 2: the amateur you know, he was on the radar and
- 54:36Speaker 2: the amateurs you know, at world level, you know, at world.
- 54:40Speaker 4: Level, so like you know, you know, like it's it's
- 54:44Speaker 4: like a Tom was not really coming from that kind
- 54:46Speaker 4: of a.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, see fast hands and knocking people out
- 54:51Speaker 1: and that type of thing, and they just want to
- 54:53Speaker 1: put it together, you know.
- 54:54Speaker 4: And he's young, you know, he is young, which I
- 54:56Speaker 4: do like to see that for a change, because I'm
- 54:58Speaker 4: in favor of like I said, I think it's the
- 55:01Speaker 4: and it was that article was there was actually doctor Goodman.
- 55:05Speaker 4: I had texted you about that. I was sick of it.
- 55:07Speaker 4: Was Randy Gordon. Yeah, but it was Margaret Goodman, you know,
- 55:10Speaker 4: who was the chiefs physician in mot and Nevada and
- 55:14Speaker 4: and is you know, involved with Vada and everything. And
- 55:19Speaker 4: she was talking about that study, which you know, even
- 55:22Speaker 4: makes it more interesting about you know, really maximum number
- 55:27Speaker 4: of fights should be like twenty six I think the
- 55:30Speaker 4: number was.
- 55:31Speaker 2: But you know, that's what I've been saying for a while.
- 55:32Speaker 4: While I'm saying that with Automa, I do like that,
- 55:34Speaker 4: like I think in our ideal system, and that's coming
- 55:37Speaker 4: up when we're talking about ali Act and revisions and stuff.
- 55:40Speaker 4: This stuff does matter and ties together, like the ideal system,
- 55:45Speaker 4: even if you're maybe just training an athlete or they're
- 55:48Speaker 4: not coming from like the old system like we talked about,
- 55:51Speaker 4: you know, a guy like Automa.
- 55:52Speaker 2: This is kind of what you want though.
- 55:54Speaker 4: To me, you want like people like twenty to thirty
- 55:59Speaker 4: getting their twenty six fights in and then just being out.
- 56:02Speaker 4: I mean, you still have the risk and everything, but
- 56:04Speaker 4: that would be the safest for the long term health.
- 56:07Speaker 4: And we don't need all this to lay. I mean,
- 56:09Speaker 4: just get it going. I mean, I'm I'm I think
- 56:11Speaker 4: it's best. I think it's actually best for the fighter,
- 56:15Speaker 4: safety and the sport. If we would just have the
- 56:19Speaker 4: young the younger people moving quick and then get.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Now and everybody fighting each other in their primes.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Right, everybody fights either in their prime, no who, no
- 56:27Speaker 4: hopers and all that stuff, right twenty six meaningful fights.
- 56:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah exactly.
- 56:34Speaker 1: I mean we speaking of music, like there some guys
- 56:37Speaker 1: where you're like, wow, you know that that's pretty awesome,
- 56:40Speaker 1: you know like that, you know, maybe that is the future.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Obviously that would probably uh well, it would need to
- 56:46Speaker 1: be like unionized and negotiated and all that, but it's
- 56:50Speaker 1: not impossible. That's for damn sure. No.
- 56:52Speaker 4: And I think it fits to me with the idea
- 56:54Speaker 4: of that training center you know, which is being debated,
- 56:58Speaker 4: you know ufc AS and with the you know, unified
- 57:02Speaker 4: Boxing organization concept. But that's to me where that training
- 57:06Speaker 4: center could come in because rather than have kids fighting
- 57:11Speaker 4: all you know, it's not it's not safe to you know,
- 57:14Speaker 4: we know this now, We know more than we used to.
- 57:17Speaker 4: You know, the idea of developing boxer is good. Yet
- 57:19Speaker 4: it might be good for skill, but it's not good
- 57:21Speaker 4: for health. Like we know now, ten year olds shouldn't
- 57:25Speaker 4: be amateur fighting.
- 57:28Speaker 2: They shouldn't.
- 57:28Speaker 4: I mean, they just shouldn't, you know, twelve year olds
- 57:30Speaker 4: even so, like what I'm getting at is like kind
- 57:33Speaker 4: of like if we would shift to the idea that
- 57:35Speaker 4: and the Olympics aren't what they used to be and stuff.
- 57:38Speaker 4: So if you would shift to the idea of like
- 57:40Speaker 4: a training center where you'd get like really good young
- 57:43Speaker 4: athletes coming in learning the box, and then like we're saying,
- 57:48Speaker 4: then they're fighting each other like right off the bat
- 57:51Speaker 4: when they get to the level, they're ready to have
- 57:52Speaker 4: their you know, first pro fight, and the career is shorter,
- 57:57Speaker 4: but you know, more meaningful, and you know that that
- 58:00Speaker 4: kind of a thing doing it that way.
- 58:04Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, I just you know now that he won quick,
- 58:08Speaker 1: he shouldn't have a problem getting a Moses shouldn't have
- 58:11Speaker 1: a problem you know, booking a fight before the end
- 58:13Speaker 1: of the year. It's August. He should be able to
- 58:17Speaker 1: fight one more time.
- 58:18Speaker 2: I hope.
- 58:19Speaker 1: And I do feel like he's got a bright future.
- 58:22Speaker 1: I really do. But I'm kind of with you, and
- 58:25Speaker 1: I've been in this mode for a while where I'm
- 58:27Speaker 1: pretty much wait and see because I just want the
- 58:30Speaker 1: resume part of it to catch up a little bit.
- 58:34Speaker 1: So I can really see it, and I want to
- 58:36Speaker 1: see him in the mid to late rounds against better competition.
- 58:41Speaker 1: I want to see how that works.
- 58:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:43Speaker 4: And the one good thing about the Saudi thing is,
- 58:45Speaker 4: like we've said for a couple of years, Chris is like,
- 58:48Speaker 4: you know, and we couldn't do this ten years ago.
- 58:50Speaker 4: This is one thing at least good now is you
- 58:53Speaker 4: can talk about these different guys fighting each other like
- 58:55Speaker 4: it can't happen so right, like like what if you
- 58:58Speaker 4: had him like fight, even if if like an automa
- 59:01Speaker 4: felt like a jaga.
- 59:03Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, right, that's another yeah.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, something like that. I mean, but like you.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Said, it's not four separate lists, and these two lists
- 59:12Speaker 1: you can't you might as well just throw them out
- 59:15Speaker 1: the way. You can only work off this list.
- 59:17Speaker 4: And that's the way I talked about it because I
- 59:19Speaker 4: thought that was the only realistic way to talk about
- 59:21Speaker 4: it ten years ago, like it wasn't worth talking exactly.
- 59:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know, it's not like we wanted in
- 59:26Speaker 1: house fights all the time. But if they all had
- 59:28Speaker 1: their own separate deals, then that's what you gotta do.
- 59:31Speaker 4: You had you had to talk about that one. I
- 59:33Speaker 4: would always say that now it's changed a.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Bit, right, yeah, exactly. Yep, you don't have as.
- 59:38Speaker 4: Many good fights available as we used to the way
- 59:41Speaker 4: things are slipping. But but we can talk about guys
- 59:44Speaker 4: with different promotional outfits actually fighting each other with the
- 59:48Speaker 4: Saudi factor.
- 59:50Speaker 1: And we'll get back to to some of this, uh,
- 59:54Speaker 1: because I want to hear your your thoughts on the
- 59:59Speaker 1: new deal the UFC just landed. But also it sounds
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: like zofa Boxing according to Dana White, he's already got
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: a deal in place now now, you know, we'll talk
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: a little bit about that and see, you know, whether
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: it's a case of basically what sat what what Turkey
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: and Saudi Arabia has been doing with working with these promoters.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Is it just gonna be that and then or do
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: they you know, how they'll sign like three fights with
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: with Turkey. Is that is that gonna be what they're
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: looking for? Or is it long term contracts or whatever?
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: They usually don't have a lot of long term contracts
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: in the UFC, I don't think so consistently anyway. So well,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: we'll talk a little bit about that and in some
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: other fight news one fifty four looks like there's some
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: fights coming up but let's talk more about this card
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Nick Ball Sam Goodman. I did think this fight was
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: a little bit better than I thought on paper. I
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: thought Goodman in some of the rounds he would it
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: was a little bit more than busy work. But once
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Ball started laying his jab in his overhand and all that,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: I did think he won the fight. But the one
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: eighteen one ten I think is pretty ridiculous obviously. But
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: what were your thoughts on this fight? And then where
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: does Nick Ball go or maybe you know, maybe you
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: added a drawer or something and rematch. I don't.
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: I don't want to see I didn't want to see
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: it the first time. I don't want to see it again.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: It ended up it ended up being you know, I
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: look at it going and I said, like, well, it's
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: not the fight we wanted. I'd rather have Ball fighting
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: somebody else. But it's not a bad style matchup between
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: these two.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Yeah, That's where I ended up thinking of going in.
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: Except this is the one part though about the style
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: matchup I don't didn't like. I don't like like when
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: two non punchers were in there with each other, there,
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: moving their hands a lot and stuff.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: There's not enough suspense to me, sure, not enough drama.
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: Yeah, you can get a move in their hands and stuff,
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: but still and and neither of these guys as much
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: of a puncher, so that that part I didn't like.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: But I figured, you know, Ball being very short even
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: for featherweight, and you know Goodman being kind of a
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: you know, tall er, lankier guy, even though he was
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: coming up from the one twenty two. I thought, well,
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: there's some there's some decent mesh of the styles there. Yeah,
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: So that's that's what I thought. So in that sense,
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: kind of kind of what I figured. But like, you know,
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: I look at like Ball like we need you know,
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: we need to see like what Carrington has. I mean,
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: you know that would be good if like they fought
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: something like that. Just need to get need to get
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: it moved along. You know, there's not we don't need,
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: we don't need these like this is just a kind
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: of fight in there, like like you just didn't need it.
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: You just didn't you just didn't need this fight.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: So it's kind of like run of the mill boxing
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: stuff that we're pretty used.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: To exactly, like just the fight that nobody wanted that
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: they're given to you anyway, and try and again. Then
- 1:03:08Speaker 4: then this is what people need to wake up to,
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: is that then this has been the promotional go to
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: for a long time now. It didn't used to be
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: because people knew to brush it off more in the pass,
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: but now that now they just look at it as
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: the number one marketing tool, Like if we can put
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: an alphabet belt on it, we can sell it to somebody.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Oh, it's for the WBA featherweight title.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Yeah, promoter manager platform. It's all tied into a deep
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: exactly right. They're all going with it, and it's in
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: their contracts too. If you reach this level, sure you're
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: you're probably gonna make more money as a manager and fighter,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: but also the promoter is probably going to kick in
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: another extension once you hit the title. You know, it's
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: all in the contracts.
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: It's just it's it is a big part of the
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: problem I'm liking in terms of the commentators and fans ends.
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: In the last six months to a year, I am
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: seeing some people wake up, Like, you know, I've seen
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: now people on social media and writers saying things like
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: and this I think in what we're talking about is
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: the right way to look at it, Like, look, you know,
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: we want the boxers to make as much money as possible.
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: But you know, if you think this crazy systems working
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: for the sport of boxing.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: You're nuts. I mean, you know you're nuts. I mean
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: the sport's going down there, like people are.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: They were trying to do the old like toxic positivity
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: to me, like no matter what was going wrong with
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: the sport, Oh, you know, it's just old people wanting
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: to criticize and there's good things. Now it seems like,
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: I think in a good way. You're getting more and
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: more people just saying.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Like because they asked their buddy and say, hey, what
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: do you think those fights? What fights? What? Right? Right?
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Like exactly like wait a second, this isn't this isn't
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: growing the sport.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: You know, I think people are started. It took too long,
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: but I do think a lot more people seem to
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: be starting to get it now, like we're going nowhere
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: as a sport on the course it is right now.
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: So something's you know, something's something's got to change. You know,
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: you can debate maybe what they're talking about right now,
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: you know, has its flaws and stuff, and that's a
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: healthy debate, but but you can't make the case anymore
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: that this is that this is working whatever system we
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: got going here, because people are waking up. I started
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: waking up tomorrow. And you know, Chris, I've been saying
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: it the last year or two because my light bulb
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: went off. And now I see that a lot like
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: you can't have fighters risking their life making five hundred bucks. Yeah,
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: I mean that's not like that's not a working a
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: working system. You know, Canelo makes a lot great, you know, Joshua,
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: you know Ushik, you know, we want them to make money,
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: but like and we don't want the promoters to make
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: you know, we'd like to fighters to make most of it.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: But like people risking their lives are getting killed and
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: bounts for that. Not not that getn't kill for any
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: amount of money's worth your life. But you're the point,
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: it's really bad.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: It's just the risk reward of I mean, you're fighting
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: for five hundred dollars right at.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Least Canelo, you know, and Javonte that like they can
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: they can sell something. And then there you could say revenue, Okay,
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: this isn't mean you're making this your revenue, but you've
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: there's this second tier of fighters now that are that
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: are getting way overpaid, and it's not sustainable right being
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: spread out.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Right, it's not spread out exactly, it's just.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: A couple of five million. You know what you can
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: do with five million dollars rather than just this one
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: fight for one one fighter that you're not making any
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: profit on the revenue.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: You're just that right now. One thing I'm in favor
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: of like that.
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: A lot of the people that are trying to I
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: don't think I've become convinced, like you know, arguing for
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: the Ali.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Act as as it is now.
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: This this sport's just not working this way so like
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: in the US, so like it's I don't think that's
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: the answer. But I'm with with some of these people there.
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: Like I think it was John Nash on social media
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: put it out there. I don't know if his numbers
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: are exactly right, but it was a good thought and
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: that ties in with what you you talked about, Chris.
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: But this, to me is a healthy way to look
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: at it. This is the healthy part of the debate.
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: He was just saying, with the UFC CBS paramount deal,
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: the money that White is proposing, there are there are
- 1:07:35Speaker 4: some increases even he was saying that, but but it
- 1:07:37Speaker 4: comes out to something like sixteen point two percent of
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: revenue on that deal. Now I'm I'm with what Nash
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: is saying there, Like when I say this stuff, I'm
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: still like that's too low, Like that should be like
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: a fifty to fifty.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going to call yourself this major sport. Did
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: you want to pay like a major sport?
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: Then?
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: Right, like, like, let's do around fifty fifty what the
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: revenue you know, half to the fighters have to you know,
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: havef to their promotion, the organization. That's like what I'm
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: looking That's like what I'm looking for. But you know,
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: the system we're having now is not working in boxing.
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: But you know, I can see like the argument like
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: sixteen point two percent too low.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: I agree with that. Yes, something around fifty to fifty.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: She's signing a deal that you just signed, you know, right,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: don't hide behind the cloth of like, well there the
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: salary is gonna go up. Well, no shit, you just
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: doubled the money that you had the last deal, of course,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: but still you know that that's the only thing that's
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: the scary part about that. And and the bill is
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: a UFC bill, but why wouldn't it be right, of course,
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: why wouldn't it be. If you're gonna go through the
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: trouble having a bill and you're gonna get sponsored bipartisan,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: you're gonna write your bill. But the AUDI Act is
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: fine is what we really need, not not fine, like
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: there's but it can be on the books, right, that
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: type of thing does need to be on the books
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: to still help some fighters. But overall, what we need
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: is a supervisor. We need overseeing committee, like a real
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: one with teeth. Right, you can federally go over the
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: states and say, nah, dude, we're not gonna do that.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: We're not having that fight here. I don't give a
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: shit what your commissioned state commission says. You can't do it.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: So the UBO, I'm okay with that. Now does that
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: just turn into a fifth belt? You know? That's what
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: we don't know. But I think that if you really
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: want teeth, then this is the time to put an
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: overall committee, federal committee in it, because that's what boxing
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: needs it for being honest, you.
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: Know, yeah, I'd like to see the revenue split. That's
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: my one concern there. But like and and you know,
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: I think the disclosure requirements are good. But but the
- 1:09:52Speaker 4: alphabets being part of the ALIAC. I've always had a
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: problem with that. Sure I have, I'm not I'm not.
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: As you can tell, I'm not going to get over
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: that problem because the alpha the alphabets shouldn't be part
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: of any like.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Functioning.
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: They don't work, you know, they shouldn't be a part
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: of any any kind of plan because they don't.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: They're they're corrupt, they don't function.
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: So I am in favor of this UBO concept, like
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: like you're saying, if there was like something like you know,
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: you have you have FIFA for World Cup, so you
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: have a US Olympic. You know, you have an Olympic
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: International Olympic Committee for Olympics.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: So these things.
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: Aren't perfect, but these are true, like at least operating
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: as like an independent overseers.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: Like something you need, you need, you need that. But
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: until you give me that, I'm not. I'm not.
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: I don't want the alphabets, like you know, as opposed
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: to having the you'd rather I personally rather have the
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: UBO thing at this point.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: I mean sure, I just would.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: I mean I'd rather the angle to try to get
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: rid of the belts, that's for sure.
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: That's why because I've always wanted them to go away,
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: and I'm like, maybe we get them to go away
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: and then you know, you go to something new for.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: Them to get fixed overnight regardless. No, you can want
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: that up the committee and it's correct, but then in
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: ten or fifteen years, maybe it wouldn't be you know,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: that type of thing you could, you.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: Know, right, but I'd like to have you know.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: But but I do want equal revenue sharing, you know,
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: I do want always disclose. I've been saying a long time,
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: like I need, you know, I need to know how
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: much the promoters are making, you know, so then we
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: can have a fair split on revenue. So I still
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: want to see all that. But I just the sport's
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: not working, you know, with the alphabet. Sure, there's there's
- 1:11:38Speaker 4: people at the very top making money, and I'd rather
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: have them make it than the promoters. I'm always going
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: to say that or anybody else because they're taking the risks.
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: But there's there most most of the fighters aren't making anything,
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: you know, and if they made a little bit with
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: the with the with the risk of you know, you're
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: getting brain, you just are you're getting brain, damn you know.
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: CTE risk they're not getting paid enough to competent enough
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: to compensate, right, the damn that that kind of damage,
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: you know, So it's it's not it's not working.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: It's not working. I mean it doesn't work.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Right now. That's not in the New Act though, correct.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: It's like there's bumps. There aren't bumps of money, right,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: and there's a bump in health insurance the insurance, right,
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: there's insurance medic type of thing.
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: But you know, health insurance is key. I mean you
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: got to have you know, I mean, with with what
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: risks they're taking, you know, to you'd really like to see.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: It because that the one, the one I'm reading, looks
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: like window dressing to meet more than.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: Actually I mean, you'd like to say, you'd like to
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: have health disability.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: Insurance, you know, yeah, even if there's some kind of
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: pension fun you know, you have to split revenue, definitely.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: But then one thing that doesn't fit. But I agree,
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: it doesn't fit.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: One thing I'm tired of too, because look, we just
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: reached a point where it's doing it doesn't Let's let's
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: be real. Let's be truly real. It's not doing anything
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: for the development of sport anymore.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: It's past its time. The sport's not popular enough there.
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: I'm not worried about the little promoter, like I've seen
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: that written a couple of times with all this discussion
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: like well what about the little show, the little local
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: club show promoter, And I'm like, look, there's no place
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: for the club show promoter anymore. I mean, look, I
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: know boxing's history, the history is crucial and stuff, but
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: that that's gone, that's not that's not coming back. I
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: mean really, when you really start thinking about who are
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: the more known fighters and the way it's gone nowadays
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: with what you got left, I mean, they're not coming
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: up on little club shows anymore.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: That is true.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: It's part of like you know, the PBC card or
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: the match Room.
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: Card, they're not They're not you know, going around on
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: independent little you know, the top rank prelims.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: Now now we've we've debated you and I and I
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: think correctly that you know, pointing it out that that's
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: confusing to the casual fan having those fights on, like
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: there are no casual fans left, but whatever one's potentially
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: would be like what am I watching here? But but
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: maybe the good part there is like you know, since
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: there's really no place for those little promoters anymore. To me,
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: that that that kind of replaces that, like, you know,
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: the big promoter so to speak, is just you know, put.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: Them on her earlier in the afternoon.
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: But it just needs to be packaged better so that
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: you know, a casual, potential casual fan.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: Would would know what that is. And and you know,
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: not not.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: A lot of that club stuff comes down to a
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: local fighter that can sell five hundred tickets right.
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: And and and it's and it's at its best, that's
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: what that do, right or a thousand tickets or whatever.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: But yeah, that that is a good point. And the
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: one thing about whether people disagree or whatever with you,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: it isn't messing. It doesn't The ALIAC would still be
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: in law. So it's not like it wouldn't be there,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: you know, it would take away that completely, you know
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: what I mean. So it's still there. And so the
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: things that it did do for a certain you know,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: certain level of fighter, it's still there and none of that.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: But now you know, they're just going to be like, dude,
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: I'm not going to fight. If this isn't the case
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: for you. You could even take away the ALIAC and
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Cano is going to say this is what this is
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: what I'm getting. So if you want to do business
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: with me, you got to show me everything anyway. So right,
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: so yeah, yeah, it's you know, just because of the
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: track record of the UFC pay it does you know,
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: it does make me scratch my head a little bit.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: But the lower, the lower value fights fighters, they do
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: get more on the undercard, you know, for the whole
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: if you have ten fights or whatever, those guys at
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: least have a better starting spot. But you know, we'll
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: see how this goes, and it all matters how it
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: comes together because it could just end up being, you know,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: like a test run. They're getting ten million to do
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: this per year and so they're not losing anything in
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: the UFC. So that that background.
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: Anyway, you know, data way, and let's look at it
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: this way, because I did feel at the time, and
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: I'm sure Al Haymon did because he was getting as
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: close to it as he could. And I don't blame
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: him one bit. You know, if ten years ago this
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: UBO bill would have been in effect, PBC would have
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: been able to do what they were trying. They could
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: have done it. Yeah, they could have done it. I mean,
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: that's what way. It's shame. You know, they could have
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: you know, that's what they wanted to do. I mean,
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: they could have done it. There would have been you know,
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: no roadblock getting into which all it was was obstruction,
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: just trying to get in their way, and then they
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: had to make some adjustments. But like, that's really what
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: they wanted to do ten years ago. So you know
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: that that I think that, you know, ten years later,
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: you know, Dana White's got the political pull, which that
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: is where this is coming from.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: But I mean, I mean, if you.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: Look at the numbers on a new deal, it looks
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: pretty right, you know, it looks kind of like, okay, sure,
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: good for you guys.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: Get yeah, get rid of Colbert, get rid of Colbert.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: Pick up. Yeah.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: Basically we'll see who's funnier. We already know that answer.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: But uh so, ray Ford a filling, you know, Nova
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: for a filling, did his job. I'll say that I
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: thought he was effective when he had his head in
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: Ford's chest and just kind of wailing on him. But
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: it did get sloppy. Obviously. There was times when Ford
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: looked real sharp with the jab and the left hand
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: and all that, and then the fight just got a
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: little sloppy. He moved a little bit too much for me.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: What did you think of it? Because you know, Kakachi
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: was the fight and I was looking forward to that fight.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: That was a closely matched fight and hopefully that's hopefully
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: that's just the next fight. That was the most I
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: was by far, that's the most anticipated fight on this
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: card for me.
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, that's that's that was an interesting fight Ford.
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: I agree with like what you said. You know, Ford,
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: he's always a.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: Little up and down.
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: To me, He's got moments he looks real good and
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: then you know he just has you know, he's kind
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: of up and he's kind of up and down like that.
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: But you nova was a guy that Yeah, he's right.
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: He's just like you said. You know, he's he's a
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: decent fighter. You know, he's just a little bit you know,
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: he's he's a little bit sure of being the top
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: and and really even kind of like on the fringe
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: of the legit top ten type of guy.
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: But he's not a bad fighter or anything. Yeah, you know,
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: I like I.
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: Like seeing Ford fight. Though although Ford's fights generally have
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: got surprisingly they've they've gotten more entertaining.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: As his career went on.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely, and you don't see that.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: You don't see that that often. Once in a while
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: you see it.
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: But although I do remember our Tugatti's early days when
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: he was a boxer and Mickey Mickey Ward was a
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: boring boxer before he retired for the first time. I mean,
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: I always get a laugh with Ron Katz, the all
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: time great matchmaker, about that because he totally used him.
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: And he says it too, He's like, absolutely, we could
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: barely get the guy to a that ship that provided
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: Eddie at or table. Then he comes back and becomes
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: his all the time slugger. So once in a while
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: you see you know, you don't see it a lot,
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: but occasionally you see it.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: And you know, Ford has been in some really good fights.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think the styles would line up in
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: that Kakachi fight.
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be a you know, that is a
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: good style matchup.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: So hopefully that is that is next. It should be.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: I mean, they already signed the damn paper for nick
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: Ball though, Leo Espinoza, you know, anyone in that top tier,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: I think you should push them for that.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's something.
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: Those are decent fights and that could be an entertaining division,
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: but they're not. They're not like making those fights, you know,
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: like and like like we were saying here now.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: I think a free agent though. Yeah, so I don't know,
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: I don't know what were you saying though.
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: Just saying, yeah, those would be you know that you
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: can make some of those fights more than used.
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: To now with the South, with the Saudi's getting getting involved.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: I mean, I'd like to see some of those fights made.
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: There are some potentially entertaining matchups there, but they're not
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: fighting each other.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: Right, yeah, exactly. That that's yeah, and some of that, obviously,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: you know, has to do with that that ESPN deal
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: and why it does not exist anymore. Hergevic. You know Adeline,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: I thought Adeline. I thought they gave him way too
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: much credit for like a couple of rounds where he
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: went off but then he didn't punch, he held, he
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: gassed like I thought he got a don't get me wrong,
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: you know, I thought it was kind of funny when
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: he he took that big punch and then like stuck
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: his tongue out and got all and then he got dropped.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: He get dropped, but you know the last minute he
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: did he didn't do really well, but I thought these
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: little spurts of like, Okay, this could be a really
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: great fight. But then he just gassed and get tired
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: gas and then hold he was holding more than Hergevic
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: and her Vic it was was breeding heavy too, but
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: he stayed on game plan. It's hard for me to
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: say Adeline like underperformed, but beyond a couple of rounds,
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: I think he did. I don't not that I thought
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: he'd win this fight, but I think at the end
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: of it, they were all and I know it's a
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: broadcast whatever, but a lot of people are like, oh
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: my god, it was a great friends. Like, I mean,
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: it was good, it was fun, better than I thought.
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: But I'm not gonna just bend over backwards and be like, oh,
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: Adeline could beat anybody else in the you know, five
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: to ten or something like that, you know what I mean.
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: No, he already got you know, he already got stopped
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: by Wardly, so you know, for him, it was probably
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: an okay performance. But yeah, you know, he didn't get
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: he got dropped and he didn't get stopped. And you know,
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: Hergovic had the cut, but you know, Hergovic is just
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: he's just not even what some people thought he'd be early.
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: He's definitely not that. And even for me, I thought
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: he was showing some limitations early in his career. I
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: had commented about him a few times that really in
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: terms of punch variety, I mean, the guy's just got
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: the right hand and that's it.
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: He just relies a lot on the right hand.
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: But then what I what to me, even I didn't
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: expect from him, and it's a negative, is like, as
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: he stepped up his opposition, that right hand's not knocking
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: anybody good out. And that's to me. Now, I'm like,
- 1:22:58Speaker 4: this dude is really limited. I mean, like because you know,
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: du Boise had the shaky chin. Yeah, for his career,
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: he was bouncing right hands all over him. I mean
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: at will was defense just wasn't there, and he couldn't
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: get him out of there. And then he got cut
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: and you know when he's like, you know he had
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: Zang was like totally gassed at the end, and you
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: know he couldn't get him out of there, you know, Adelaide,
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: you know he didn't get him out. You know, he
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: didn't get him out of there. You know, So like
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: now you look at his overall body of work. I mean,
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: like the real, the real low weak opposition. He was
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: getting people out of there, but he's it's not it's
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: not carrying over and he doesn't he doesn't bring enough
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: other things to the table for me. Yeah, so you know,
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: he he just seems to me to be a guy
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: that like this, this is his ceiling and he's already
- 1:23:53Speaker 4: he's thirty three, he's already been at his ceiling, and
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: it's it's his ceiling isn't as high as a lot
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: of people thought it was. Coming out of the amateurs
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: to the pros. I mean, this guy did have a
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: decorated amateur career, so he's really been you know, he's
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: top ten legitimately. I know in like Transnational, there was
- 1:24:13Speaker 4: people that they wanted to move him up a spot.
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: I was like, to me, just leave him where he is.
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: He didn't really do anything that impressive. I mean, this
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: is somebody that he should be getting out of there
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: at this point.
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: And you know, he's just he just leveled off.
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: I mean, I think he's just not just I mean,
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: there's not there's not any upside to me, Like we're
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: not seeing like people talking about him moving up in
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: the rankings, like.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: This is what the guy is.
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: He's not as big of a puncher that it seemed
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: like he was going to be for a heavyweight, and
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: he doesn't have a lot of punch variety.
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's pretty basic. He's good at what he does,
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: but it's not good enough.
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: Right, No, No, And now he's got this cut problem.
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: You know, the cut problem.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: He's going to be a problem.
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: Because he's had two bad cuts.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: You know, they handled it well this fight, but know
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: when it first happened, was like, oh.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: Boy, yeah, I thought he might not make it through.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: But any you know, against somebody that's gonna throw more,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: he probably wouldn't have you know what I mean?
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: Right, right, So that's yeah, he's people are saying it,
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: but certainly shouldn't be. He's not anybody that Autama should
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: be afraid to target.
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: She's as long as he's for real, you know.
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: Like I mentioned, I like, I think it's a good
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: test because he does have a good job, he does
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: have a good right hand. There there is something to him,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: So I think it would be a good test for him.
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: I definitely do. And then you had that sum He
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: took care of that Ashley real quick. I like Satsumi
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: a lot. I think he's a good fighter. But yeah,
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: that basically wraps it up. This weekend, the Zone has
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: four or five cards this week in John, from Friday
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: to Saturday, they have five cards?
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: John, Are they all pay per view? Are they all
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: pay per view?
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Yeah, well we don't know. We got to wait to
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: the day of you know.
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: Yeah, you never know what them. You never know what
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: they want. You never know what they want. You watch
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: their stuff. They watch their stuff. That's how bad off.
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: That's how bad off it is.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: They're they're not.
- 1:26:16Speaker 4: Going to do too well competing against UFC with a
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: CBS paramount deal.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: I like how he tried to take credit. Yeah, I've
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: been talking about this. This is a great deal. There's
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: no pay per views. I've been talking about this. However,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: this weekend, you know, it's fifty dollars. You know, it's
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: just like, which one is it?
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: Dude?
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: You know, because he had a tear system before that,
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: you're trying to have some of your stuff. I just
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: saw the new can so I think they're they're trying
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: it out on Canada. Jim Cross tweeted this fifty dollars
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: for the second basically to see any kind of good
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: stuff you'd want to see. It's fifty dollars. There fore, Yeah,
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: it's not sports, just going sports Circle, Sports Circle in.
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: The drain, you know, on the path it's on.
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: You know, I'll still say like the and I'm not
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: saying one thing can do it, but it's the only
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: hope that us wise, Like I mean, Canelo Crawford's gotta
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: gotta draw a big number on Netflix.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it just like has to.
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: I mean doesn't mean the sport's going to be gone
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: the next day, but there'll really be nowhere to go
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: if it doesn't draw some kind of number. But but
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: these are two guys in their mid to late thirties
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: now too, so you know they're they don't have much
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: more time. But still, at least if it's a big event,
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: you know, maybe you can go to to at least
- 1:27:41Speaker 4: another day.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: Netflix would want, you know, right, that's really your hope, right,
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: get them to think, hey, you know, what's sign a
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: deal with somebody? Well, you know match Room's not going
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: to have fights on that Netflix. But did you see
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: they're having a documentary Matchrooms Sports? Uh Eddie Hearn and
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: Eddie Senior. I didn't see that Yeah, they got a
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: Netflix match, not the fights. They didn't have a documentary
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: that's coming out here on matchrom which, don't get me wrong,
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: in the UK they are Juggernaut. I'm not you know,
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: they got their ship together. I'm not saying that.
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: Well plus plus the way the way things are going,
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: more people will see that than the fights the way.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: It's see so we know what it's about with Eddie.
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: But yeah, so so that is going to be on
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: Netflix and in it there is Uh. I just hope
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: Netflix is in the game.
- 1:28:34Speaker 4: You know, Like did you see I mean Happy Gilmore,
- 1:28:36Speaker 4: Happy Gilmour two twenty four point That is a million
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: views right off the bat, right.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's what Netflix can give you.
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: That that It's just the landscape's changed, I mean, and
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: I'm going to go back to it, but it matters
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: because it's the hope we're talking about now. You know
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: the big New York Times article within the last year
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: year or two, you know that flip. You know, corporate
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: leadership says, you know, we will pay for anything we
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: believe bring subscriber value, and they've shown they'll do it.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: But like, but but they've said it, like there's no
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: compromise though in their system, like it's got to be
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: we determine it's something our subscribers want, right, So like
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: Canelo Crawford have made it past the politinity gates, you
- 1:29:26Speaker 4: know that, Like they're like, Okay, this has subscriber value
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: to us, but now the numbers got to be there
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: with it, like to prove to Netflix you were right
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: the subscribers archive for that matter.
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: Yeah, the subscribers wanted this.
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: And they've made right decisions because they're making profit, you know,
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: You see their profit lately too. Man, That's what I
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: was thinking too. They're making the right calls because you're like,
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: their numbers are going through the roof. I've seen their
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: numbers now resenting in a lot.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Of wrong calls in the streaming business. But they're making
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: some good ones.
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: They're making good ones. I mean, the money they're making
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: crazy crazy.
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: So they're they're they're they're the gorilla right now, you
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: know what I mean.
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's not you know, Prime Video. We'd still
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: love for that to be pumped up, but at least
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: they have a huge backing behind them, whereas Netflix is
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: a little different setup, you know what I mean. So
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: they've really got it out the mud, like the kids
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: like to say it. And they aren't making They're doing
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: their thing. The best thing, let's parley into that that
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: UFC stuff. Anyway, the best thing would be if Turkey
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: got a deal with Netflix and then and then the
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: deal that supposedly has already done now. Dan Rafael said
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: that Paramount is in the lead for the ZUFA boxing,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: but Dana White said on a show that they already
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: got it squared away, that they do have a deal.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: And I'm thinking it's ESPN because WWE. You know that
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: there's a mixture there and I don't know what what,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: I don't really know. I'm not gonna sit there and say,
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: like I know for a fact or anything like that.
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: Although ESPN just dropped, you know, they're not with UFC anymore,
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: so I don't know.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, But didn't they do something with the
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: WWE though, I'm pretty sure, which is tied to the
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: same company.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: Okay, I'm not sure, Yeah.
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: Pretty sure they just did pretty sure. That's why people
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: are like, oh, wow, okay, you know, but I I
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: don't know. Anyway, he says it's a done, dude, He's
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: already got negotiated. So it's either almost done or it
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: is done. Uh, he's confident that he's getting dates on
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: something and it's a deal of some sorts whatever it is.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: So this is where the part is where I'm like,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: how is this gonna go? Right? Because if you're gonna
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: have a deal and you're gonna have dates, then you
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: have to be kind of lined up like we're mentioned
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: a hand probably a month two months ago, kind of
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: like how the PBC was positioned with a lot of
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: fighters so they had the position they could make the fight,
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: and so you have to be pretty positioned well now
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: or or is it gonna be how Turkey has operated
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: and he's just gonna be like, hey, Warren Eddy, nice
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: nobodies and push them out and just put those same
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: type of deal where they signed. You're still signing deals
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: no matter what, and and the promoters still could make
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: money off of that for the time being until the
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: fighters completely off the contract, assuming that's the way it's
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: gonna go, because you're not just gonna do like and
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: unless he's trying to do a Contender series, which I
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: don't think it's I don't I don't know if I
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: like that idea. If you're gonna use TV or a
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: big platform and then hey, we're gonna do a Contender.
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: Maybe I only like it fights, that's the That's what
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Probably it probably wouldn't be because of who's signing. Hear
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: what you know? That's yeah, you're right, if they could
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: do it right, yeah, tournament or whatever. But if it's
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: just it's the Contender series where he's they're gonna develop
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: their own fighters.
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: Right when they do those in the fights aren't aren't
- 1:33:06Speaker 4: any good, It does nothing.
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: It's but I'm open.
- 1:33:10Speaker 4: I always thought though there would be an opening for
- 1:33:12Speaker 4: a series like that. Yeah, they where they work hard
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: to seriously make it where even if these are guys like,
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: it's gonna be a good fight, like that's what people
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: want to see, right, you know.
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: But do you think they're gonna kind of use Turkey
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: because they're Turkey's give them ten million per year and
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: then a little bit more money for the two or
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: three major fights. So if you're gonna have major fights,
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: you're not gonna develop these guys real quick and put
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: on a major fight. You're gonna use the Canelo, Crawfords
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: and all that.
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: I'm with you.
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: I can't I haven't figured out exactly what they're gonna
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: try to do yet. Part part of it seems like
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: they're talking about the developmental but then it seems like
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: there's an opening for when they're just gonna be like
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: signing guys and trying to put some big fights on too.
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: And he's been doing just with them, right, But I
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: don't know.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: Just imagine, not to cut you off, but just imagine.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: Let's just say ESPN, just imagine if some of these
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: cards that they have put together that given't plenty of
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: credit to imagine those cards and those matchups on you know,
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: a bigger platform. Now we have the ball Robley.
- 1:34:26Speaker 4: That's what That's what's totally being missed. It's like, we
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: know that costs costs more, and you got to make
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: more investment at the beginning. But exactly like, even if
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: some of those quote unquote cheaper pay per view cards
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: that were good all heavyweights and stuff, you know what,
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: what if that would have been on a major platform.
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: I'm like a good I'm like a good night or
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: even a good afternoon. I mean you know that then
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: you can get something going with a few of those.
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: But they just they just didn't that didn't at all
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: focus on anybody seeing.
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's and I understand that the Saudis have
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: to percent of his zone, and I wouldn't doubt John
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: at that's gonna be there because you know the twenty
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: thirty plan, I wouldn't doubt if they're just gonna buy
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: his own, you know, and then that's what they're gonna
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: stream it, and maybe they give it away, give away
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: the rights like they did with T and T for
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: that that soccer tournament this summer, or like a co
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: to Zone and T and T. If they want to
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: do that, that's fine too, But they're gonna prob that's
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: that's what I'm guessing that they're gonna try to buy
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: the zone. But it's like that's cool in a couple
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: of countries, but not here.
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: It's just not They would have to turn into like
- 1:35:35Speaker 4: the co op deal with like TN T, like you said,
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: or something.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: And since that's why we just brought it up, because
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: at least they've there's a blueprint there, there's a deal,
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: And like I said, I saw to zone on the
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: damn microphones that they were talking on. Right, So what
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: I'm what, I'm home?
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: What I'm home?
- 1:35:51Speaker 4: What I'm hoping is you know, Turkey, there was that
- 1:35:56Speaker 4: period where he had backed off the Netflix for the
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: Canalo Crawford and then he reversed course and went back
- 1:36:03Speaker 4: to it. To me, like one of the only hopes
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: is that like something click for him there with the
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: US sensibilities that like, look, Turkey, if you don't take
- 1:36:13Speaker 4: care of this problem you and I are talking about
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: with your US sensibilities, it's still going nowhere no matter
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: how much money is the UK, you know. So you know,
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: like if he really did learn something there and then
- 1:36:26Speaker 4: this gets at least solid numbers where then he can
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: follow it up like he gets it more sees. Okay,
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: now I've got people talking about me in the US
- 1:36:34Speaker 4: that I didn't have before, Yes, because I had this
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: Netflix exposure with Canelo Crawford.
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: And now you can fill up all this ego you
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: want and say whatever you want. As long as you
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: put it, you know, in the right place, you know,
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: talk your shit, then that's fine. But we'll see about
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: this November card, which looks very good on paper, but
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: once again, I mean, you didn't get there and it's
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: gonna be seventy dollars six days.
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: Right, It's gonna be seventy dollars.
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: But where we're going on some weird platform at some
- 1:37:02Speaker 4: weird time, you know, I mean, it's just not going
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: to do with it. And they're locked into the Saturday
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: night thing doesn't have any logic. That's something that started
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: in recent decades. It's the least watch TV night of
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: the week summer to keep saying, where the Saturday night
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: sport like.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: College football does that because you've got NFL you got
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: to deal with yah, But like you don't.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: And they start at eleven or twelve you know, twelve
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: year time in the morning and go on. So they
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: got the whole thing erectly, right, that's a different ball guy.
- 1:37:36Speaker 4: Not wait until eleven thirty at night. That's one game
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: after they've shown twelve hours.
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: Of games, right, I was showing the FCS games and
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: then they by the way damn Georgia you know.
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: Right, yeah, like exactly like the way boxing is do it. It
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: makes no sense to put yourself on late on the
- 1:37:52Speaker 4: East on the least TV watch night of the week,
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: I mean constantly.
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: So the Netflix thing is the one home.
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: So I was shocked by the number of the CBS
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: paramount deal and it you know the pay per view data.
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: White was like, oh, hold on, we're not saying it's
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: completely done, but in this thing, it's gonna be straight up.
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: So whether it's streaming, you know, we haven't heard the
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: one hundred if they're all going to be on CBS
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: or some of them are going to be a CBS
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: or whatever. But either way, they were running into a
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: problem too. You know that ESPN Plus deal where ESPN
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: would give them a certain amount of millions of dollars
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: just to make it exclusive. They knew, and we've said
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: this too, They UFC knew that if you only have
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: it on ESPN Plus, that's not a good thing. And
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: so their numbers on pay per view fel too.
- 1:38:48Speaker 4: It's important, you know, incredible reports were coming out right
- 1:38:51Speaker 4: before this deal, not from the UFC, but yeah, it
- 1:38:54Speaker 4: turned out to be absolutely right that their pay per
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: view numbers were way.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: Down, sinking big. Yes, and they kept having I'm gonna
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: have him too many and it's just not worthy. But
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: but I understand why the UFC was like, well, if
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: you're gonna pay us this amount of money, then sure,
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: we'll let.
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: You do that.
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: And it never really made this major build up on
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: ESPN Plus. And that's where you're like, Okay, what's the
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: play here, because I don't, you know, building up paramount.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: I don't know how much that's gonna build it up,
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: but it definitely won't decrease it, that's for sure. And
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: then you'll you'll get the casual viewer of course, you know, like, hey,
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: that's on for free UFC. Cool, I'll watch it. But
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: but if you put the CBS arm in it now
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: all of a sudden, you're talking, you know, then you
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: can get it back, build the sport back up, even
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: though it's making all this thing. So you know, the
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: revenue you mentioned Cobert, the revenue wasn't there. His ratings
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: were there, but the revenue wasn't there. Is the revenue
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: gonna be there for this though? I was. I was
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: actually one a year Joe.
- 1:40:08Speaker 4: I was surprised they got the deal because you know,
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: they don't. I think the criticism is valid. I've said
- 1:40:14Speaker 4: that with them for a few years too, because it
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: didn't used to be the case. But but they've got
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: no stars right now. I mean, that's that's a valid
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: criticism of the UFC right now.
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: I mean, they were running pay per.
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: Viewing younger, it got older, right, last twenty years, it has
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: only gotten older, you.
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: Know, and they've they you know, they they've they've got
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: you know, they were running pay per views and they
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: don't have any stars, so you know that, you know
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: that that ran out. I mean, look, ESPN's making cuts.
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: I mean, baseball's gone, Top ranks gone. NFL's got ten
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: percent of ESPN now, So it's not like ESPN's not
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: making moves, but in their evaluations of what's valuable, UFC
- 1:40:55Speaker 4: and Baseball didn't make the cut, nor did top rank boxing.
- 1:41:00Speaker 4: So hey, that's that's really what happened though, So so
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: now I'm with you.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: I was kind of like, it's like you, if you
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: pay out one point one bill, right, how are you
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: gonna without pay per views? John, how are you gonna?
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know how they make it.
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: I do know, I do know though maybe.
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: Their world wide stuff is huge.
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: I actually I think what it is, Chris, you think
- 1:41:24Speaker 4: the only reason they're getting that money and and it's
- 1:41:27Speaker 4: and frankly that's why the NBA got it too. I
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: think because you know, their ratings have gone down in.
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: The future, they're securing the future of something.
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: No, it's it's that.
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: It's that in the modern world of viewingship why viewership
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: the sport is the only way you can get somebody
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: to watch something at a certain time because they don't
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: want to watch it when they know what the result
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: is already. And then the gambling factor, now it's legal
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: in most states, ties into that. If you want to
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: gamble on it, you got to watch it live, So
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: that goes together like live you know, there's things in
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: life that go through these cycles where they get overpaid
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: for arguably, and like that's where live sports is because
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: they all feel that they have to have it for
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: that reason, because it's the only thing left that they
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: can say is going to be on at a certain
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: time and get people to watch it.
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: Then is live sport.
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: Everything else stream on demand, which is what's made streaming
- 1:42:28Speaker 4: more popular than cable and broadcast over the long run,
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: is because a common sense thing like I'm laughing because
- 1:42:36Speaker 4: at my age, I live through this too, and you know, Chris,
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: you live through some of it. But I was I
- 1:42:42Speaker 4: was listening to a real old soft rock rock pop
- 1:42:44Speaker 4: song and the reference was like, you know, it was
- 1:42:49Speaker 4: a big hit at the time, but I can I
- 1:42:52Speaker 4: can now watch my TV shows whenever I want after
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: the breakup. And the point being is like you have
- 1:42:59Speaker 4: to be of a certain should know, like before VCR
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: before like you had to be sitting at the TV
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: set at a.
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: Certain time, a little song on the radio or something
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: right every like like yeah, like or you missed it period,
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: you didn't see it.
- 1:43:14Speaker 4: So like they can only do that in the year
- 1:43:17Speaker 4: twenty twenty five with sports basically.
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: So this is their big but this their big this
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: they're big shot at it.
- 1:43:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and then the gamble and then the gambling adds to.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: That because it is a huge gamble though.
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that where UFC is at right now
- 1:43:34Speaker 2: might be overpay.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: Gates, you know, like you will see they're not going
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: to get the gates or something like that. Either.
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: I don't I'll tell you what may tie in and
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: it may see.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: And I'm not saying this to be like a backer
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: of just Dana White and what he's doing and you know,
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: maybe with Turkey behind him, but I do think like
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: this would be the case for me if like let's
- 1:43:57Speaker 4: pretend they had the money and like PBC was trying
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: to buy UFC or something like that. Or Top Rank
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: was trying to buy PBC and UFC. I'm not saying
- 1:44:06Speaker 4: they have the money, but this is a theory I've
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: talked about before, and with the way the sport's going
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: boxing and I look at what the problems UFC had,
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: this is something I'm thinking about in twenty twenty five.
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: The theory I've been kind of operating on more and more,
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: and I think it's really why what we're talking about
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: might need to happen. And I don't care who does
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: it be it Dana White, top ranking theory, Eddie Hurn.
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: Whoever, but it's this.
- 1:44:33Speaker 4: I think what may may have kind of happened too
- 1:44:36Speaker 4: is that I don't know what the exact number would be,
- 1:44:40Speaker 4: but let's let's pretend like when UFC started getting more popular,
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: like twenty years ago. Let's pretend at that point there
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: was a X amount of people are willing to watch
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: combat sports, which we'll just take it as boxing and
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: MMA combined. Okay, but it's only that amount. I think
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: there's probably an argument like it could be factors. People
- 1:45:00Speaker 4: have moral objections with the violence, you know, like we
- 1:45:04Speaker 4: watch it, we overcome that in our own ways. That's
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: not us, but there are people like that, and it's
- 1:45:10Speaker 4: probably even like the majority down.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not gonna go down.
- 1:45:14Speaker 4: So let's let's say there's I mean, I'm just gonna
- 1:45:17Speaker 4: make up a number, like let's say only twenty percent
- 1:45:20Speaker 4: of people in the US or what we are willing
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: to watch combat sports. Well, then like boxing and UFC
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: are in that theory, which I think is becoming more
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: and more valid. They're like all competing for the same
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: people and like they're carving it up. So maybe the
- 1:45:40Speaker 4: path for the future is like I talked about the
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: satellite radio example, when they had to get through the
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: regulators twenty years ago when Serious with Separate and XM
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: was Separate, and they were the only two satellite radio outfits,
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: and they had to say, well, yeah, it's a monopoly
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: and satellite radio, but with what we got to compete
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: against with everything else, you should still let us combine,
- 1:46:03Speaker 4: which regulators did, and nobody's had any objection since because
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: that turned out to be true. That's kind of what
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: I'm saying with combat sports, Like maybe, like with boxing
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: and MMA, there's only a certain amount of percentage that
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: are willing to watch those kind of sports, and they've
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: got to compete against all other sports and entertainment things
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: and like that. So what I'm getting at is maybe
- 1:46:25Speaker 4: we are at a point where all this really needs
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: to get combined to be viable. Like under like one
- 1:46:34Speaker 4: and bro, like you're still gonna have the sport of
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: boxing and the sport of MMA, but like maybe just.
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: Like one promotion like almost worldwide is.
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: Gonna have all of it, and then they're gonna space
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: out the dates logically and like and have a broadcast
- 1:46:49Speaker 4: deal like like maybe that's the only way really it's
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: gonna make it going forward.
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: Right in it in it that would help organize the potentially,
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: that's for sure. But yeah, well I don't know, man,
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: I do think that I don't know if they would
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: have got that number, I'd say the number isn't overpaid.
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: But to your point that the Amazon did it with
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: the NBA. Now, the NBA eighteen to thirty four still
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: performs at a high rate, and the Amazon proved on
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: Thursday nights at the NFL that is the highest demo
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: eighteen to thirty four out of all the anything the
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: NFL shows, that's the highest demo. So they, you know,
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: thinking that way too. And then we've always said, there's
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: there's two right now, is there going to be a third? Well,
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: that's Paramount. We gotta do something right. Well, that's right,
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: there's room for three. That's what That's what the New
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: York Times breakdown with the players. There was gonna be
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: room for three, and two of them were Netflix and Amazon, right,
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: So Paramount saying, hey, we want to be number three. Right.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: And there was clearly a checklist for the merger's political
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: there was a checklist that had to be checked for
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: the for the for the merger, was this little extra
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: part of the checklist. It feels like it's just off
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: the number. But I don't know that. I don't know.
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: One thing I have noticed is their gates have gone up.
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: But like I said, is CBS getting the gates? You know,
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: like how much are they getting out of the lives gate?
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: I don't know about that part. Maybe he's getting it
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: all up, you know, I don't know.
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: Laugh, but we laugh, but we know it's a figure
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: and it's and with the deal they got. Yeah, it's
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: part of I mean, you've got the President of the
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: United States saying he's going to have a fun He's gonna.
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: Have in the White White House.
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: On July fourth.
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: So conspiracy or or oh I don't like this or that,
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: or I I voted independent or what. It has nothing
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: to do with that. It's just if there was a
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: clear checklist and they got a little extra money.
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: No, it's it's not conspiracy. This is just a reality
- 1:48:59Speaker 4: like here, That's what I'm saying. And like whatever your politics. Like,
- 1:49:01Speaker 4: I mean, President of the United States is saying there's
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: going to be a UFC fight and.
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: There's a bipartisan bill ready to get at the White
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: House on July fourth, you know, white.
- 1:49:15Speaker 4: Who was you know, standing on stage with Trump after election.
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: I mean we're not like we're not. This is not
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: any kind of conspiracy stretch. I mean, he's getting to
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: deal with paramount. I mean, like you said, mergers are
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: going on. I mean, you know, right, And I'm with you.
- 1:49:32Speaker 4: I'm not saying a conspiracy. There's no direct I'm not
- 1:49:35Speaker 4: saying there's some direct payment going on here.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: With no no, no, it's just the influence number would
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: be that number, that's all.
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: I don't think it would be either.
- 1:49:45Speaker 4: I mean I just think, you know, it's the politics
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: of it, Like I don't think there's like a direct
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: you know, like kick back to anybody or like anything,
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: but just that it's because of political influence. I mean, look,
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: I mean, look look who was Look who was that
- 1:50:02Speaker 4: President Trump's inauguration. People who weren't traditional necessary supporters, just
- 1:50:08Speaker 4: trying to kiss ass to get into these kind of positions.
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: They're so you can't say because the truth people people
- 1:50:15Speaker 4: that are just people that are just so into money
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: and their business over anything else that hey, I gotta
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: have a piece of it.
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: Let's take a meeting, if you know, right, they just
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: gotta have a beating.
- 1:50:29Speaker 4: So it's kind of that that kind of a thing.
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: But so you know, look the AA White's got the
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: legislation coming. I mean you know, oh yeah, I think
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: something needed to happen. But that's it's all tied in.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: By partisan is so hard these days. If they already
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: have a by Parson there.
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: They've got bipartisan too.
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: They've got just making the little window dressing with the
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: hell stuff they can make that they're gonna sell it
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: that way that the politicians it's gonna pass. It's just
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: gonna pass. There's no way it's not gonna pass. Now,
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: they better get it done in the next year, right
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: before sure, once once midterms, then we'll see if it
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: would pass, but it's gonna pass before that.
- 1:51:08Speaker 4: Yeah, no, they better get it done. They better get it.
- 1:51:10Speaker 4: It's something to change.
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: I just want to see. I just want to see
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: something happen at this point.
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: I mean, just it'd be interesting to see if Probox
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: use their their facility. Uh and if that spawned then too,
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: because I think it's like a rehab center where they
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: have those live fights. And by the way, that facility
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: that the UFC has, they are adding a bunch of
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: seats to it, like I heard like five thousand seats
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: or whatever, So I mean, you know.
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: That fits the developmental theory right exactly.
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: So we'll see where that goes. I just hope they
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: don't get a deal and then only do the development
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: if they don't have the real development guys to develop,
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: not just hey man, these guys are tough dudes. Man.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: I don't want to see a bunch of bar fights,
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I'd like to see high
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: level guys. But we'll see, we'll see how it goes.
- 1:52:03Speaker 4: If the fights are entertaining though, if that's that's almost
- 1:52:07Speaker 4: the key to me, Like, you know, people you can
- 1:52:10Speaker 4: have pures. But if it's entertaining.
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: That is true. I mean, you know, the you know,
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: the slap of slap boxing did well, so someone thinks
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: that's entertaining. So I'm just saying, like, is it gonna
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: be club?
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: Like?
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: Are we gonna so they have match Like I want
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: to know who their matchmakers are for boxing, you know
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: what I mean? Because if it's club level stuff, then
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: it better be like some of the club shows I've
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: gone to, where like you said, it's just one after
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: another they're gonna beat each other's brains in Yeah, that
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: might work for a while, but I do think you
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: have to have some guys, just high, higher level guys,
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: you know what I mean. If you're gonna have a deal,
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: why fuck it up with Let's hope we can develop
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: some guys.
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: We get is like, but I know what you're saying,
- 1:53:01Speaker 4: Like I look at it this way too, like like
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: when I'm watching prospects because it matters and it's it's entertainment,
- 1:53:08Speaker 4: but also usually to me is probably the first thing
- 1:53:12Speaker 4: for how how far they're gonna go, and then you
- 1:53:14Speaker 4: know they have some defense after that, But like firepower,
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: I see your point there. Like for what I'm looking
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: for like, if the guys were so bad and they
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: were trying to brawl, they wouldn't even have a delivery
- 1:53:27Speaker 4: system where it'd be any like firepower.
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. And then you're gonna tell me
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: the best fight and the best I don't know who.
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: No one's in the top ten here, so this isn't
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: so then it becomes another belt, you know, That's what
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: I'm saying. You know, we we've talked about what ranking systems.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: Who's doing the ranking system, because if you're gonna have
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: your own belt, you better have a damn good ranking system.
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: And then if you're gonna rank everybody champion or not,
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: then clearly you have access to those fighters with Saudi.
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: Clearly you do. So that's what I'm hoping. It's at
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: least a blend of that, you know what I mean.
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: But either way, we shall see. Let's see Ortiz Lubin
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: Fandora Thurman Fandora Thurman. Obviously we'd love that on an
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: Amazon Prime right from a pay per view. But just
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: breaking down the fight is Thurman's leg good Thurman legs
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: hold up because I think stylistically, John the pot shots,
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: the jab, all the stuff, that gives Fondora problems. I
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: think it's there, but man, is he going to be
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: able to do that for all twelve rounds?
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: You know, I don't think. I don't think it's tough.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: I don't think Thurman could hold them off at this point. Yeah,
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: you know, and Fondora star going to leverage and stuff.
- 1:54:44Speaker 4: That's more to me, Chris, like what we said, like
- 1:54:47Speaker 4: we're we were telling people like, look, you know, we're
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: just telling you who's going to bring some sale from
- 1:54:54Speaker 4: a pure business perspective, not whether these guys should be
- 1:54:58Speaker 4: fighting for other reasons. I'm I mean, that's like Frondora
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: and Thurman. I mean, it's like PBC trying to squeeze
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: every last drop out of things. Two guys that have
- 1:55:08Speaker 4: gotten enough exposure that they're going to throw them together,
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: trying to make it a pay per view.
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:55:13Speaker 4: I mean that's the only No matter what, anybody, this
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: is really the only reason the fight's happening.
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: Right, It's the solid front door.
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:55:21Speaker 4: So I mean I'm with you, like, yeah, if you
- 1:55:23Speaker 4: would have made it at least with those guys have
- 1:55:25Speaker 4: a name recognition for where the sport is today on
- 1:55:29Speaker 4: an Amazon Prime, not pay per view.
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: Well, then you could. I could say on that basis
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: it might still.
- 1:55:35Speaker 4: Help the sport somewhat, even though I'm not crazy about
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: the matchup. But to do it then, to squeeze one
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: last drop out of a pay per view for yeah,
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: I mean, come on, I mean that's what I thought
- 1:55:46Speaker 4: when I saw that sign.
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: I'm like, come on, yeah, I just for twelve rounds.
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: I just don't the legs. It'd be so tough to
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: pull that off at this age. And then the body,
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: you know, is it finally gonna be a body shout
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: that actually takes him out? You know, Yeah, that's what
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: it feels like, you know, And then you know, you
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: got artis in the Zaya's talk speaking of a pay
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: view that doesn't even on pay per view. They got
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: they had a pay per view offer on his own
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: Zaia's because he's the titleist or whatever thought he was
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: too good for the dealer or whatever. So it looks
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: like it's gonna be lubin.
- 1:56:28Speaker 4: I was thinking of that where we're at, when we're
- 1:56:30Speaker 4: top ranksmo, even at this point, I was thinking they're
- 1:56:33Speaker 4: gonna put Zias in with Ortiz.
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: Now no, no, no, they're not. But lubin arties, you know,
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: people like, yeah, look, it's not a bad fight.
- 1:56:42Speaker 4: I mean, these are like it's like you and I
- 1:56:45Speaker 4: are talking, Chris, like yeah, you know if this was
- 1:56:47Speaker 4: on the old like.
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: Even it was like on Showtime as a doubleheader or something,
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: but like you.
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: Are like one fifty four Fox, you know what we got.
- 1:56:57Speaker 4: But when they're talking like you know this is gonna
- 1:56:59Speaker 4: be on some point platform that's limited and these two
- 1:57:02Speaker 4: guys are fighting, I'm like, it's not that good of
- 1:57:04Speaker 4: a fight.
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: Like you know, it's not bad TV, TV.
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: Legit top ten, but like you know, not like where
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: I'm supposed to go hunting for it, for where I'm
- 1:57:13Speaker 4: going to you know, where I'm going to see it
- 1:57:15Speaker 4: or have to pay for it or something that you know,
- 1:57:18Speaker 4: not not it's not that.
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: Kind of fight.
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: I mean, if they don't keep that on his own,
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: I don't know to tell you.
- 1:57:23Speaker 4: And you know I've said this about Virgil Ortiz before,
- 1:57:25Speaker 4: I'm going to keep saying. I mean, this is a guy.
- 1:57:28Speaker 4: To me, he's like one of the big victims of
- 1:57:30Speaker 4: the modern where the broadcast thing's gotten bad, Like this
- 1:57:34Speaker 4: is a guy who like should be a star and
- 1:57:37Speaker 4: like who's really really outside of hardcore boxing fans. You
- 1:57:41Speaker 4: look at his TV history, his broadcast history's who's seen him?
- 1:57:45Speaker 2: Who? Nobody?
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: He was making some headway as a ticket seller too,
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: and yeah, it's just it's all come to a complete stop, basically.
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: Total waste to me.
- 1:57:54Speaker 4: I mean, a guy, you know, with an entertaining style, talent,
- 1:57:58Speaker 4: New Mexican American. I mean, the guy could be guy
- 1:58:03Speaker 4: could be a you know, he could be even in
- 1:58:05Speaker 4: the world of the sport we're at today, he could
- 1:58:07Speaker 4: be a much bigger star and.
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: Definitely a casuals like this dude, you know what I mean,
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: would like this guy if if they met him, meet him. Yeah,
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: casuals I got you know, you're like I got a friend,
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: you too, would be you two would be great together.
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: Yeah you gotta meet my buddy. But they're just not
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: gonna meet. Yeah, exactly, you know so, but yeah, or
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: teas man, it's now that he's over what the issue was, Well,
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: hopefully knock on wood, that's done with that stuff. But
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: uh yeah, like you said, good fight. You know us
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: old schoolers are called a good TV fight. It's gonna
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: be a brawl, it's gonna be fun. But where does
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: it lead? You know, nobody's gonna see it all that stuff. Yeah,
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: I think, you know, I got some I got some
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: feedback and some pushback from the monopoly thing that we
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: talked about with the Ali Act. And it's like, you know,
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: when mergers happen, it's not like everybody in the company
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: gets fired. Not everybody. You know, like they could still
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: operate their operation, you know, you know, they could still
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: have matchmakers and all. They could still operate, but it'd
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: be there. It's not they wouldn't be since they got
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: paid John, they wouldn't worry about risking a guy as
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: much either, and it would I think that would help
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: to not be so oh, you know, let's hold off
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: on that. No, let's make the fights. And now it'd
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: be more of a competition, like a pride thing, like,
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: hey man, we're gonna make the best damn fights. You know,
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: we're already paid. We're good. Now we can just let
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: these guys fight on no pressure almost, you know, in
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: a sense. And that's the more I'm looking at it
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: like that. I'm not looking at it like because you know,
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, Dana's shown in the UFC
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: has shown that they can have, you know, hundreds of
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: guys under contract. But can they do that also with
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: boxing all by themselves. I doubt it. You know, you
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: do matchmaking, you know, so it's an overall picture of
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: it's just like, uh, you know, like like I mentioned,
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: just buy out the belts and go with the run
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: with the WBC. Then that's it. That just just that.
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: But that means you bought out everybody else, you know,
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: and and and I don't know, it's like to me,
- 2:00:30Speaker 1: that's the only way it can work, you know, and
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: it's a monopoly. But they're still competing against each other though,
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: you know what I mean, they'd still be competing, you know,
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: and then we could do those top ranked PBC cards
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: or whatever, you know, like right, I don't I think
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: people thought, like, I don't know, I just don't have
- 2:00:48Speaker 1: a mindset. I think I think you could still have
- 2:00:50Speaker 1: all these a fair amount of these uh people that
- 2:00:53Speaker 1: are involved in our experts in the field. You know,
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: they'd still be involved. Uh, It's just I think it'd
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: be less risk and not as much pressure because you're like, hey,
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: d we already made our money. Let's just make the
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: best fights we can. And then then I don't know.
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: I feel like it would spawn some more competition, you know,
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: instead of withholding it and building to the big fight
- 2:01:14Speaker 1: only you know, Yeah.
- 2:01:15Speaker 4: It's where we're at now is not working. I mean,
- 2:01:18Speaker 4: you know we need agreement on that first. I mean,
- 2:01:22Speaker 4: where we're at now is not working. I mean, you know,
- 2:01:24Speaker 4: see that that's the thing. There's people trying to argue that,
- 2:01:26Speaker 4: like what's going on now is working, and it's not working.
- 2:01:29Speaker 4: You and I want the fighters to make as much
- 2:01:31Speaker 4: as possible. I'll still say that, and maybe that's something
- 2:01:34Speaker 4: we got to solve with whatever comes next.
- 2:01:36Speaker 2: But where we're at now, where we're at now is
- 2:01:39Speaker 2: not working, and it's.
- 2:01:40Speaker 1: So hard with the contract for everybody to unionize people
- 2:01:44Speaker 1: just trying. Yeah, it's not that easy though. It's really
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: not that it can be. You could say not difficult,
- 2:01:50Speaker 1: but I don't know, I don't know. They obviously need
- 2:01:56Speaker 1: representation and that's where a guy like al Al is
- 2:01:59Speaker 1: legit when it comes to hey, dude, my guys are
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: gonna get what they're worth though, you know what I mean.
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: So I think he's a good guy to have there
- 2:02:07Speaker 1: because he has shown that and was there over pay
- 2:02:12Speaker 1: compared to what HBO was putting out, sure, but it
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: wasn't anything near what we got over paid now nowhere
- 2:02:19Speaker 1: near that shit. And by the way, the first chunk
- 2:02:22Speaker 1: of years they were getting ratings, they were getting ratings
- 2:02:26Speaker 1: that we had to go back to the early two
- 2:02:27Speaker 1: thousands and nineties. And that's what people don't realize, Like
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: you realize Turkey could have done very similar path with
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: all these great fights and just whatever. You know, I
- 2:02:37Speaker 1: don't know.
- 2:02:38Speaker 2: I mean, he made a mistake there.
- 2:02:39Speaker 4: I think he, I really do, seriously think, because it's
- 2:02:43Speaker 4: not that easy, like like you said, unless you have
- 2:02:45Speaker 4: other people you're talking to stuff. I think he kind
- 2:02:48Speaker 4: of didn't get the US sensibility part in terms of
- 2:02:52Speaker 4: exposing it and exposing what he was.
- 2:02:55Speaker 2: Trying to do. I think Turkey kind of missed that part.
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:02:59Speaker 4: He's kind of getting it a little bit with this
- 2:03:01Speaker 4: Netflix with the Crawford canal right, because he.
- 2:03:04Speaker 1: Had the money to do it. I mean exactly, he.
- 2:03:07Speaker 2: Could have done a time by, like we're saying, he
- 2:03:09Speaker 2: could have done a.
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: Time the time by you could have bought with that
- 2:03:12Speaker 1: type of money, you know, and it's you could have
- 2:03:15Speaker 1: still minorly overpaid these guys. You know, minorly just to
- 2:03:20Speaker 1: get them, you know. And that's the frustrating part. And
- 2:03:25Speaker 1: and but yet we didn't get the media backlash. Meanwhile,
- 2:03:29Speaker 1: sure there's things you can say we said them about
- 2:03:32Speaker 1: the PBC, but you know, for a chunk of time
- 2:03:35Speaker 1: there they were getting fucking ratings.
- 2:03:37Speaker 2: You know, I had.
- 2:03:37Speaker 1: People saying, oh, who's that guy? Even the guy who
- 2:03:40Speaker 1: lost John I get a phone call, Hey, who do
- 2:03:42Speaker 1: when's he fighting next? You know, not even worried about
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: the winner, you know, because they were actually on it
- 2:03:48Speaker 1: was it was working there for a second.
- 2:03:50Speaker 4: Plus, what they were trying to do is what they're
- 2:03:52Speaker 4: trying to do. What they were trying to do with
- 2:03:54Speaker 4: twenty fifteen is basically what wh in Turkey and these
- 2:04:01Speaker 4: people have the political muscle to do now in twenty
- 2:04:04Speaker 4: twenty five.
- 2:04:06Speaker 1: To the old old promoters, and White was.
- 2:04:10Speaker 4: White was complimentary of what Hayman was trying to do.
- 2:04:13Speaker 4: Ten I mean, you know, right out and straight out
- 2:04:17Speaker 4: quoted in interview. So I mean, like Al Hayman had
- 2:04:22Speaker 4: the right idea ten years ago. But see that's what
- 2:04:24Speaker 4: I would say too, Like that to me, you know, yeah,
- 2:04:27Speaker 4: people that hated PBC and didn't like Al Haman. You know,
- 2:04:32Speaker 4: they liked that it happened, but I thought it was
- 2:04:35Speaker 4: a shame because you know, it really wasn't the purpose
- 2:04:37Speaker 4: of the Ali Act for you know, Hayman to really
- 2:04:40Speaker 4: get blocked from what he was trying to do, which
- 2:04:42Speaker 4: was he was trying to do something like what we got.
- 2:04:44Speaker 2: Now. You know, he's not known for underpaying or cheating
- 2:04:49Speaker 2: his fighters. I mean, like we.
- 2:04:50Speaker 1: Said in that lawsuit, they couldn't find a fighter to go.
- 2:04:55Speaker 4: They couldn't find anybody to go against him. So it
- 2:04:57Speaker 4: was and I was arguing out at the time. I
- 2:04:59Speaker 4: was and like, look, this guy's known for getting his
- 2:05:02Speaker 4: fighters paid well and treating him well. He just knows
- 2:05:05Speaker 4: the sport needs to move to this place to be viable,
- 2:05:08Speaker 4: and he's trying to get the ratings. And he was
- 2:05:11Speaker 4: like like again, the first year, they didn't mention in
- 2:05:14Speaker 4: alphabet on one broadcast, so you know what they wanted
- 2:05:17Speaker 4: to do.
- 2:05:17Speaker 2: But it was a good thing, not a bad thing.
- 2:05:19Speaker 4: But you got all the haters, the resistance, and and
- 2:05:23Speaker 4: like some people criticize now competitors who were who were
- 2:05:27Speaker 4: not really or were just panicked, not really looking at
- 2:05:30Speaker 4: what might help the sport and maybe with all boats
- 2:05:33Speaker 4: just panicked and we got to stop paying.
- 2:05:35Speaker 2: We got to stop payment.
- 2:05:36Speaker 1: Yeah, and the media clearly was tied to the old promoters. Yeah,
- 2:05:40Speaker 1: obviously you'd hope that was the reason, because otherwise it's
- 2:05:44Speaker 1: worse reasons, you know. Yeah, right, you know, then we
- 2:05:47Speaker 1: get in the races and all that stuff. That's right,
- 2:05:50Speaker 1: you'd hope that you were Yeah, that would have been
- 2:05:52Speaker 1: the best that could have been, right, have been the
- 2:05:54Speaker 1: best outcome, because otherwise you're really exposing yourself. Now, you know,
- 2:05:58Speaker 1: he saw that funny. So yeah, we'll see, we'll see. Uh, well,
- 2:06:03Speaker 1: we'll keep talking it through. But I appreciate you stopping in,
- 2:06:07Speaker 1: nice in depth conversation that we had. Per usual, you
- 2:06:12Speaker 1: have yourself.
- 2:06:12Speaker 4: Good night, John, Yeah, Chris Craig talking to you has
- 2:06:14Speaker 4: always take it easy.
- 2:06:16Speaker 2: Have a good one you.
- 2:06:17Speaker 1: Too, alrighty, So real quick that pro box event from
- 2:06:29Speaker 1: last Friday, I thought, I thought, you know, I know,
- 2:06:35Speaker 1: as a majority decision, I believe it wasn't a split.
- 2:06:38Speaker 1: It was a majority, right, Yeah, because yeah, because there
- 2:06:42Speaker 1: was a ninety five ninety five. I thought Mohammed I
- 2:06:45Speaker 1: thought he won that. I thought he won that Castille
- 2:06:50Speaker 1: look good against Bunch and if anyone has Swerve, like
- 2:06:55Speaker 1: I have Direct TV stream and they have Swerve, that
- 2:06:58Speaker 1: card was on that too. You can find it on YouTube,
- 2:07:01Speaker 1: you can find it on the app, you can find
- 2:07:02Speaker 1: it on you know. So just just the heads up
- 2:07:06Speaker 1: for people that don't know that either way, you're watching
- 2:07:10Speaker 1: it on your your ship. Either way. Like I said,
- 2:07:12Speaker 1: Design has a bunch of cards. Clenshaw in what is it?
- 2:07:19Speaker 1: It's like SETI or something. Let me check. That's probably
- 2:07:21Speaker 1: the closest fight match that's tomorrow night, if I'm not mistaken. Yes,
- 2:07:30Speaker 1: you have Zu and uh Ismali. I think that's really
- 2:07:36Speaker 1: I don't see that being a that could have a
- 2:07:39Speaker 1: fight that Jarvis Jarvis's Brock Jarvis is the guy that
- 2:07:44Speaker 1: Thurman took care of, no problem. You do have Joolvas
- 2:07:49Speaker 1: Gomez in action. There's there's some fights out there this week.
- 2:07:56Speaker 1: And you have Rafferty Chamberlain. I think that uh Chamberlain
- 2:08:00Speaker 1: is like a plus two hundred and up plus two.
- 2:08:06Speaker 1: I think that's a good fight. So it is one
- 2:08:10Speaker 1: of those. And we have a Cordova is an action
- 2:08:15Speaker 1: Joannis Teles. I think he's an action right. I'm pretty
- 2:08:18Speaker 1: sure he's on that. But literally It's one of those
- 2:08:23Speaker 1: things where I'm not going to preview and predict all
- 2:08:25Speaker 1: of it, but I do think that we could get
- 2:08:29Speaker 1: some pretty solid recap. We've kind of gone along as
- 2:08:34Speaker 1: it is. But yeah, Riviera Bailey div is back in
- 2:08:40Speaker 1: action against like Wile or something like that. But like
- 2:08:43Speaker 1: that Rafferty Chamberlain that's Afternoon showed his own I could
- 2:08:47Speaker 1: see that being good that, you know. So that's that's
- 2:08:51Speaker 1: my opinion. I think those would be pretty good. Gazalz Flores. Yeah,
- 2:08:58Speaker 1: four let's see here, one, two, three, four, five. So
- 2:09:05Speaker 1: between Friday and Saturday they have five cards. It could
- 2:09:10Speaker 1: you split up some of these so we didn't have
- 2:09:12Speaker 1: to have some of those dead weekends. But anyway, as
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: far as the schedule goes, I did hear on brunch Boxing.
- 2:09:24Speaker 1: Shots out to brunch Boxing. They have a new format
- 2:09:27Speaker 1: on Twitter where you can watch the show and also
- 2:09:33Speaker 1: subscribe to the YouTube channel because they're live on YouTube
- 2:09:37Speaker 1: as well. They were talking about a Spence Charlo co headline.
- 2:09:45Speaker 1: That's kind of interesting, see how that goes. Jim Cross
- 2:09:50Speaker 1: speaking of that Jarvis beckfight, he said some extreme line
- 2:09:54Speaker 1: movement for this Jarvis beckfight. Jarvis opened at minus seven
- 2:09:59Speaker 1: hundred is down to minus one seventy. Yeah, that's pretty crazy.
- 2:10:05Speaker 1: That that is pretty crazy. I did see on boxing
- 2:10:09Speaker 1: Twitter on this day, nineteen ninety five, Tyson and mcneelly
- 2:10:16Speaker 1: first fight, you know, after the prison sentence. I know
- 2:10:19Speaker 1: exactly where I was that night, And say what you
- 2:10:27Speaker 1: want about McNeely dude. That motherfucker lived up to his word.
- 2:10:30Speaker 1: He said I'm coming, no pause, he said I'm coming
- 2:10:34Speaker 1: to fight, and that's exactly what he did. And then
- 2:10:39Speaker 1: he parlayed like a Domino's Pizza shit off and so
- 2:10:42Speaker 1: shots out to McNeely dude boxing Twitter. If Jared Anderson
- 2:10:47Speaker 1: never fought Pacoli and kept stepping up slowly racking up
- 2:10:50Speaker 1: dominant wins, he would be in the running for an
- 2:10:54Speaker 1: USIK fight. The racking up dominant wins against would that
- 2:11:01Speaker 1: be Someone made a good point. We were talking about
- 2:11:06Speaker 1: the US as far as you know, dwindling some with
- 2:11:11Speaker 1: the live stuff, significant domestic fights that have taken place
- 2:11:16Speaker 1: in Saudi and they named off Wardley, Adelette, Cordina, Kakachi, Whittaker, Cameron,
- 2:11:27Speaker 1: not that it was great, but Wardley, Clark, Clark, two, Fisher, Allen.
- 2:11:33Speaker 1: You know it is true you're gonna have some of
- 2:11:36Speaker 1: the fights in Saudi. Obviously they're they're flipping the bill.
- 2:11:39Speaker 1: But let's hope that they figure that out. I mean,
- 2:11:42Speaker 1: they have shown more, it feels like more this year now.
- 2:11:46Speaker 1: So and then Bradman brought up this pound for poundless
- 2:11:50Speaker 1: from the eighties. Hearns Aguayo, Leonard Gomez, Sanchez home Sphinx
- 2:11:58Speaker 1: Hagler prior to Duran who good, golly oh. I meant
- 2:12:05Speaker 1: to say, I'm seeing this still shot that someone sent
- 2:12:10Speaker 1: me a screenshot of Moses ripping down the guard. He
- 2:12:16Speaker 1: does that and fights. I like that where you you know,
- 2:12:19Speaker 1: you want to create some space that way you rip
- 2:12:22Speaker 1: down there our boom. Maybe there was master at it,
- 2:12:25Speaker 1: but yeah, Kabiel Parker, Wardley Hunter, like, there's so many
- 2:12:29Speaker 1: fights and I'm not saying, you know, Moses has got
- 2:12:32Speaker 1: to fight ten more fights then he'll be ready for
- 2:12:34Speaker 1: USA because that doesn't even line up. But I don't know.
- 2:12:37Speaker 1: According to The Boxing Voice, Adie Hearn said, does the
- 2:12:41Speaker 1: Zone deal expiring next year? Our plan is absolutely to
- 2:12:45Speaker 1: extend with the Zone. They've been a great partner. We're
- 2:12:49Speaker 1: a huge part of their business. We know as well.
- 2:12:52Speaker 1: There'd be other opportunities in different markets, but we love
- 2:12:54Speaker 1: the relationship with Zone for our global plan and our
- 2:12:59Speaker 1: global of events. There are perfect partner globally. They like
- 2:13:04Speaker 1: everyone likes to say global boxing, We're gonna grow this
- 2:13:08Speaker 1: sport globally. That's not how you say that, But I
- 2:13:12Speaker 1: was just fucking around. Victor Conte tried to call out
- 2:13:17Speaker 1: Lubin because memo, you know memo, they they don't like
- 2:13:23Speaker 1: each other. Uh. He said, facts, the facts are, the
- 2:13:26Speaker 1: fight is isn't finalized, so go fuck your out, basically,
- 2:13:32Speaker 1: but hopefully that's getting done. I saw Cordo Booker said,
- 2:13:35Speaker 1: good morning, Eryl Spence. Does that mean that's the comeback fight?
- 2:13:40Speaker 1: I also saw Ring Magazine the Ring has learned his excellency, Uh,
- 2:13:46Speaker 1: preferences to see Moses, Moses go for Usak. Nah, dude,
- 2:13:50Speaker 1: don't do that. Do not do that. Jim Cross hergevic
- 2:13:54Speaker 1: a j de Bois three fights that it told me
- 2:13:58Speaker 1: could could do their thing and marketable and all that stuff.
- 2:14:02Speaker 1: I like that. I like that. I heard Boachuk and
- 2:14:04Speaker 1: Brandon Adams saw this on Boxing Scene, the rematch on
- 2:14:10Speaker 1: the undercard. Maybe that's like a pre limb of a Canelo.
- 2:14:15Speaker 1: I don't know Canelo Crawford obviously, let's see here did
- 2:14:23Speaker 1: you do? Do I think someone mentioned anyone else noticed
- 2:14:31Speaker 1: that this is the only event talking about that Saudi event,
- 2:14:36Speaker 1: that Sadi that's not commissioned by the BBC or the
- 2:14:41Speaker 1: BBB up C. Is it because Dillon White is banned
- 2:14:45Speaker 1: to fight in the UK? I mean, you know, do
- 2:14:50Speaker 1: Xander Zaia stuff like he was saying, it's not talking
- 2:14:55Speaker 1: about it's not a real offer. The answer is yes,
- 2:14:59Speaker 1: come meet in Puerto Rico. The thing is, dude, like
- 2:15:04Speaker 1: they had a venue, they had a split. You know,
- 2:15:08Speaker 1: it's it wasn't it seemed like a real offer. You know.
- 2:15:12Speaker 1: I did hear news about Russell and Hitchins negotiating for unification.
- 2:15:19Speaker 1: Signed me up for that. That's kind of an interesting fight. Turkey,
- 2:15:23Speaker 1: I saw this on ring. Turkey also said he squashed
- 2:15:26Speaker 1: the rumors there was these benevitas, but turbav since they're
- 2:15:29Speaker 1: fighting on the same card that oh you know what,
- 2:15:34Speaker 1: they're gonna scrap it. They're just gonna make that fight now.
- 2:15:36Speaker 1: They're not, No, they're not, he said. But the fight
- 2:15:39Speaker 1: could well take place in twenty twenty six if they
- 2:15:44Speaker 1: both win. But we know, there's a trilogy and blah
- 2:15:47Speaker 1: blah blah blah.
- 2:15:48Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 2:15:49Speaker 1: So I'm not getting my hopes up. Oh the Paro Trinidad.
- 2:15:54Speaker 1: I forgot to mention that that was a draw, right,
- 2:15:56Speaker 1: that that was a good fight. That was a good fight.
- 2:16:00Speaker 1: Someone sent that to me. That was that was that
- 2:16:02Speaker 1: was good. Also saw from boxing scene. Lamont Roach says
- 2:16:08Speaker 1: that he's moving on. Doesn't look like it's happening again.
- 2:16:11Speaker 1: We still haven't heard from his camp specifically when it
- 2:16:14Speaker 1: comes to the business. So it is what it is.
- 2:16:16Speaker 1: We're moving on and we just can't sit around and
- 2:16:18Speaker 1: drink our feet. The best bet is to try and
- 2:16:20Speaker 1: restructure and structure something. If not, we're going to move on.
- 2:16:24Speaker 1: So he's sending a shot saying, hey dog, you know,
- 2:16:28Speaker 1: let's get the ball rolling bachrum bakrahm. It sounds like
- 2:16:35Speaker 1: he's got a fight announcement coming up, so we'll see
- 2:16:40Speaker 1: where that goes. U do do oh someone Dan the
- 2:16:47Speaker 1: boxing Man. Someone sent me a screenshot of his tweet.
- 2:16:51Speaker 1: Prospect Carlos Garcia Alberto returns August twenty third on Pluto
- 2:16:57Speaker 1: TV YouTube livestream. Yeah, he's a guy likes to move
- 2:17:01Speaker 1: his hands. Uh, so he's he's all action. He's definitely
- 2:17:06Speaker 1: all action. Someone said, did you see the body shot
- 2:17:13Speaker 1: from Ali cat? I did? That was nasty? That was nasty. Oh,
- 2:17:21Speaker 1: here's the spit Bucket podcast. How truly effective is the
- 2:17:25Speaker 1: Ali Act if it only applies to fights held in
- 2:17:28Speaker 1: the US. We're seeing a bigger president across the pond
- 2:17:34Speaker 1: today when it was signed. Blah blah blah blah, fans
- 2:17:38Speaker 1: will be more changing now to go to fights overseas
- 2:17:42Speaker 1: to Sadi. Basically, you're not gonna make a law here
- 2:17:46Speaker 1: that's gonna apply to Saudi or the UK or anything.
- 2:17:49Speaker 1: You're just not So it makes no sense to be like,
- 2:17:52Speaker 1: how truly effective? Like you could say, how truly effective
- 2:17:55Speaker 1: is the Ali Act without a supervising committee? That's fine,
- 2:18:00Speaker 1: But to say that if it only applies to you, yes,
- 2:18:02Speaker 1: I mean how is it? But you're not going to
- 2:18:04Speaker 1: pass something that's going to apply to that, So that
- 2:18:10Speaker 1: makes no sense. Suleiman WBC confirms Taylor Cameron trilogy. Interesting, okay,
- 2:18:20Speaker 1: why not? Why not? I think let me see here.
- 2:18:26Speaker 1: I think that about wraps it up. We'll see where Zufa.
- 2:18:34Speaker 1: We'll see where Zuofa is with the new deal and
- 2:18:39Speaker 1: what it looks like. Anyway, I'm gonna get out of here.
- 2:18:42Speaker 1: There's a bunch of cards and I say it like
- 2:18:45Speaker 1: it's a broken record. But on these weekends where nobody's
- 2:18:48Speaker 1: looking for shit and no it's his own car. Oh
- 2:18:50Speaker 1: this car. Okay, Yeah, that'll be interesting. There's fights that
- 2:18:53Speaker 1: pop the fuck off there just is it just happens, man,
- 2:18:57Speaker 1: And there's five cards and those shit that's gonna pop
- 2:19:00Speaker 1: off hardcore is know what I'm talking about. Hopefully we're
- 2:19:05Speaker 1: gonna have a decent amount of recap because it is light.
- 2:19:09Speaker 1: It is late for for a little bit here. You know,
- 2:19:13Speaker 1: July was really good, August, you know, So we'll see,
- 2:19:20Speaker 1: we'll see. Hopefully we got something to talk about in
- 2:19:23Speaker 1: a major way coming back recapping. Anyway, I'm gonna get
- 2:19:27Speaker 1: out of here. Enjoy the fights. We're back next week.
