- 0:10Speaker 1: He is a Pro Football Hall of Famer, two times
- 0:12Speaker 1: Super Bowl champion.
- 0:13Speaker 2: We were.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Grateful for the time we got to spend with him
- 0:18Speaker 1: on radio row for the Super Bowl. He's a fantastic
- 0:21Speaker 1: person as well, and he is with us today and
- 0:23Speaker 1: he wants me to try to pronounce this. I asked
- 0:25Speaker 1: him how to pronounce it on the front end. He said, nope,
- 0:27Speaker 1: you're on your own. So I'm going to take a
- 0:29Speaker 1: shot at this, Terrell Davis, tardive dyssentia is Did I
- 0:35Speaker 1: get it right?
- 0:37Speaker 3: Okay? Close? Tardive is correct?
- 0:39Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Cardive is discinesia disconesia.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Of course, it rolls right off the tongue. Tell us
- 0:45Speaker 1: about it and tell us why this is important to you.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Terrell.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Yeah, man, I'm partnering with Tempa Pharmaceuticals to raise awareness
- 0:53Speaker 4: for that. We call it the other TV, you know,
- 0:56Speaker 4: not touchdowns, but tardive dyskenesia, and what TV is as
- 1:00Speaker 4: it's a chronic movement disorder, and it's characterized by repetitive
- 1:04Speaker 4: and uncontrollable movements, and it's caused by by certain prescription
- 1:09Speaker 4: mental health medications such as antidepressants or anti psychotics, you know,
- 1:15Speaker 4: and it impacts about one in four people who take
- 1:18Speaker 4: certain prescription, you know, mental health medications. And this has
- 1:22Speaker 4: been a big thing with me, you know, because I've
- 1:25Speaker 4: had my own you know, mental health struggles and uh,
- 1:29Speaker 4: you know, we've all had to sit there and kind
- 1:33Speaker 4: of contemplate what our direction is. You feel alone, you
- 1:36Speaker 4: feel abandoned, U you don't know what's happening. And then
- 1:39Speaker 4: you you reach out and you know, you might try
- 1:42Speaker 4: to call, you know, trying to solve one problem, and
- 1:44Speaker 4: then you end up having something like this. And you know,
- 1:47Speaker 4: the movements are interesting because they happen in your hands,
- 1:49Speaker 4: your feet, your your face, your torso it's like jerking
- 1:55Speaker 4: or twitching, and it really does impact, you know, impacts
- 1:58Speaker 4: a person's ability to eat, to talk, and walk. And
- 2:01Speaker 4: just a week ago, I had a chance to spend
- 2:04Speaker 4: some time with an individual who was living with TD
- 2:07Speaker 4: and man her hearing her real life experiences first hand,
- 2:10Speaker 4: where it was incredible and empowering.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Uh, you know, it's powerful and inspiring at the same time.
- 2:15Speaker 4: You know, she shared with me that you know, it
- 2:18Speaker 4: took two years after she you know, was dealing with
- 2:21Speaker 4: this stuff to get a proper diagnose and get treated
- 2:24Speaker 4: for what her symptoms were. And during that time, man,
- 2:27Speaker 4: that's that's long. That's too long for anybody to have
- 2:30Speaker 4: to go through that alone, you know. But she had
- 2:32Speaker 4: a great team, her husband was there with her. And
- 2:35Speaker 4: so it really does to me reinforce why I'm trying
- 2:38Speaker 4: to spread this message and try to make people aware
- 2:40Speaker 4: of what's out there, what can possibly happen. She talked about,
- 2:43Speaker 4: you know, she loved the bake, she loved to cook,
- 2:45Speaker 4: loved spending time with her grandchildren, and she can do
- 2:48Speaker 4: she can do any of that, and so that that
- 2:51Speaker 4: kind of hit home with me, and so I just
- 2:53Speaker 4: want to make sure we raise awareness, let people know
- 2:56Speaker 4: what's out there and what's happening. And if you have
- 2:58Speaker 4: any of these symptoms, or you see anybody you love
- 3:01Speaker 4: or no, go to the other TV dot com or
- 3:04Speaker 4: go see a healthcare provider.
- 3:07Speaker 1: The other TV dot com is the website he just
- 3:09Speaker 1: gave and we will promote that again on the way out.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I am wondering, Terrell Davis, what the first day of
- 3:15Speaker 1: training camp was like for you?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Was it a was it a miserable thing? Were you
- 3:18Speaker 2: excited for it?
- 3:20Speaker 3: Excited? Excited? Yeah? You can. I think you stay excited
- 3:24Speaker 3: training camp.
- 3:24Speaker 4: I remember it's about a three day excitement period and
- 3:27Speaker 4: then after that it's like, all right, I'm tired of training.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Did you start to hate it? Like?
- 3:33Speaker 4: Oh, man, like like why are we still you know,
- 3:36Speaker 4: doing Oklahoma drills? And you know they buy you know,
- 3:40Speaker 4: the meetings were boring. You start getting to a meeting
- 3:43Speaker 4: and you're going over the same concepts over and over.
- 3:46Speaker 4: You know, it's like, all right, Okay, I understand, I
- 3:49Speaker 4: understand the toss, I understand its own, I understand the
- 3:52Speaker 4: you know, the drive concepts. How many more times can
- 3:55Speaker 4: we go over the same place? But I think that's
- 3:57Speaker 4: what makes the great you know, makes great teams are
- 4:00Speaker 4: great players is they're not bored with the boring, like
- 4:03Speaker 4: they just they find a way to make what's boring
- 4:07Speaker 4: into something that they can they can learn from. They'll
- 4:09Speaker 4: find a nuance to a play that they've never seen
- 4:11Speaker 4: before and you know, make it exciting again. I guess
- 4:16Speaker 4: I don't know, well, I was, I was tired of you.
- 4:18Speaker 2: You're like, hey, just give me the ball, won't be fine?
- 4:20Speaker 2: Go ahead?
- 4:21Speaker 5: Taylor Turell, what do you remember most about your first
- 4:25Speaker 5: training camp though in nineteen ninety five, as someone that
- 4:28Speaker 5: was considered a long shot to even make the roster.
- 4:33Speaker 4: I don't know if you heard the story about the Tokyo,
- 4:35Speaker 4: but I made a play in Tokyo, Japan. I'll tell
- 4:38Speaker 4: it real quick. But it was ninety five, as you mentioned.
- 4:41Speaker 4: And we have a super long training camp because we
- 4:44Speaker 4: have new coaches. So I think the training camps are
- 4:45Speaker 4: about six seven weeks. And we had five preseason games.
- 4:49Speaker 4: We played the forty nine ers in Denver, our first
- 4:52Speaker 4: preseason game, and I didn't play.
- 4:54Speaker 3: And I'm on no.
- 4:56Speaker 4: If you look at the depth charts and our team
- 4:58Speaker 4: or our locker room, I'm on zero. Depth charts, accept
- 5:01Speaker 4: the running back chart and I'm seventh. And I'm not
- 5:04Speaker 4: getting any in practice. I'm not doing anything.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I'm just watching.
- 5:06Speaker 4: I'm getting mental reps, as they call it. So we
- 5:09Speaker 4: play the Niners, I don't play. We fly to Tokyo, Japan,
- 5:11Speaker 4: we play the forty nine ers again. But when we
- 5:13Speaker 4: get there, we are practicing against the forty nine ers
- 5:16Speaker 4: in a dual practice, and that whole week, I am
- 5:19Speaker 4: having the worst week of my life.
- 5:21Speaker 3: We're down. We had eight running backs. We're down to
- 5:26Speaker 3: three because guys work. It was hot it was humid,
- 5:29Speaker 3: so guys were just like on a ivy.
- 5:31Speaker 4: We had left one guy back in the States, and
- 5:34Speaker 4: so we're down to three backs and now I'm getting
- 5:36Speaker 4: all the reps and I'm not doing well. Guys, I
- 5:40Speaker 4: am batching everything I'm doing. The coaches. You know, he's
- 5:44Speaker 4: cussing at me. Man, he's screaming at me. So this
- 5:47Speaker 4: happens for three days. On the fifth day, on the thurday,
- 5:51Speaker 4: I go back to the rooms on a Friday, and
- 5:53Speaker 4: I'm done.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I quit.
- 5:54Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm done with this, so I'm gonna get
- 5:55Speaker 4: out of here. I try to call down to the
- 5:56Speaker 4: front desk. Well, you know, I'm moving Tokyo, Japan. Man,
- 6:00Speaker 4: Japanese ain't great, so I can't get a flight out
- 6:02Speaker 4: out of Tokyo. So the plan was, listen the games tomorrow,
- 6:06Speaker 4: Let's just go to the game. I'll suit up and
- 6:09Speaker 4: i'll just you know, when the game's over, we'll go
- 6:11Speaker 4: back to Denver. I'm done well during that time. As
- 6:15Speaker 4: I go to the game, I'm not prepared to play.
- 6:17Speaker 4: I don't have, you know, my mouthpiece, I'm not taped.
- 6:21Speaker 4: I'm just going as a body that's just masks, you know.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I'm just gonna go through the motions. Well, about the
- 6:26Speaker 4: third quarter, you know, I didn't play the first half,
- 6:30Speaker 4: and you know didn't play. I didn't play the first
- 6:31Speaker 4: half obviously, and so I look on the bitch and
- 6:33Speaker 4: I see a lot of veterans and they're they're in there,
- 6:35Speaker 4: either street clothes or their pads are off or whatever,
- 6:38Speaker 4: and they're huddled up.
- 6:39Speaker 3: And I go over there and I find out they're
- 6:42Speaker 3: eating hot dogs, and of course I'm starving at that time.
- 6:45Speaker 4: I don't typically eat before a game, so I helped
- 6:48Speaker 4: myself to a couple of hot dogs about four or
- 6:50Speaker 4: five in and as I'm shoving the fifth one in
- 6:53Speaker 4: my mouth, I can hear the coach screaming for number thirty.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and he's like thirty.
- 6:58Speaker 4: So when you know, when the coach screams thirty, everybody's
- 7:00Speaker 4: trying to find where thirty is. So everybody started yelling
- 7:02Speaker 4: thirt thirty. Well I look around and I'm I'm like thirty.
- 7:06Speaker 4: I look at my jersey, I'm like, oh, I'm thirty.
- 7:08Speaker 4: I mean he's stayed calling.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Me yes, So I was like all right. So he
- 7:14Speaker 3: comes over and it's a special teams coach.
- 7:15Speaker 4: He's like, you ready to go in, and I'm like
- 7:19Speaker 4: my mind is saying yeah, but my stomach is saying no,
- 7:21Speaker 4: because I got freaking hot dogs in there. And he's like, well,
- 7:24Speaker 4: go in on kickoff. So I'm going on kickoff. I
- 7:26Speaker 4: don't know where to line up, and we got people
- 7:28Speaker 4: are showing me where to go, and really rod Smith
- 7:30Speaker 4: was like, hey, man, you line up here. So he
- 7:32Speaker 4: puts me next to the kicker, and then just it's guys,
- 7:35Speaker 4: it just dawns on me as as I'm in there
- 7:38Speaker 4: and I'm looking down at the other team, and I
- 7:40Speaker 4: just realized, man, I am in an NFL game, and
- 7:44Speaker 4: so my mind just quickly flipped like I have to
- 7:46Speaker 4: go make this play. I need to go make this play.
- 7:50Speaker 4: So I sprit down when the ball was kicked and
- 7:53Speaker 4: the guy was Tyrone Drakeford. Sorry about that, Tyrone, but
- 7:56Speaker 4: uh he's running to my left, and uh, if you
- 8:00Speaker 4: find the tape, it's a clinic. I mean, I run
- 8:02Speaker 4: as hard as I could and I just ran right
- 8:05Speaker 4: through Tyrone and Dracer made a really good tackle and
- 8:08Speaker 4: it's clinic. It really is a great tackle. And that
- 8:10Speaker 4: was the start man, and I jumped up. I was
- 8:12Speaker 4: screaming and yelling. Teammates came slapping me on the helmet
- 8:15Speaker 4: and shoulder pads. And once I'm bouncing around, then I
- 8:18Speaker 4: run back to the sideline and as soon as I
- 8:20Speaker 4: get to the sideline, I throw up hot dogs everywhere.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, on your fifth hot dog, I
- 8:29Speaker 2: mean it makes sense.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Yeah, And then after that, Rolling Backs coach comes over
- 8:36Speaker 4: and he's like, he grabs me and he's.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Got his sharpie. He's got like a highlighter, and we're
- 8:41Speaker 3: in the in the aftro.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Do room whatever the Tokyo Dome, and he's he's drawing
- 8:47Speaker 4: off plays because the head coach, Mike Shannagan, wants me
- 8:49Speaker 4: to go in on the next series.
- 8:51Speaker 3: And I don't really know the plays, and he.
- 8:52Speaker 4: Knows I know I don't know the play, so he's
- 8:54Speaker 4: he is coaching me up on every single play.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Hey, this is what they're gonna run. Anyway.
- 8:59Speaker 4: I finished game with like carries forty something yards, solid ending.
- 9:03Speaker 4: But that was the beginning when you say my rookie year,
- 9:05Speaker 4: that was the beginning of, you know, the career that
- 9:08Speaker 4: I had, because the next game I was on every
- 9:10Speaker 4: special teams. I was coming in earlier in the game
- 9:13Speaker 4: at running back and then I just answered the test.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Every time they put me into something, I just responded
- 9:19Speaker 4: and played well. And so the first game we played
- 9:23Speaker 4: the Buffalo Bills that week, I was announced the starter
- 9:27Speaker 4: on a Wednesday practice after we already made cuts and stuff,
- 9:30Speaker 4: and Mike was like, hey, called me up to his office.
- 9:33Speaker 4: It's like, hey, what do you think about being our
- 9:35Speaker 4: you know, being starting running back for the Broncos? And
- 9:38Speaker 4: that was man, that was that was That was probably
- 9:40Speaker 4: one of the greatest, uh, you know times that I
- 9:43Speaker 4: can remember coach asking me that question, right, and yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 4: And I tried not to give it up.
- 9:48Speaker 3: I tried to try to hold on to it as
- 9:50Speaker 3: long as I could.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Sure, did you ever throw up again during a football game?
- 9:56Speaker 3: Not hot dogs? No?
- 9:58Speaker 2: Did you ever eat hot dogs again? Me for a
- 10:00Speaker 2: football game?
- 10:01Speaker 3: No? I don't know. I don't eat. I'd never I'll eat,
- 10:04Speaker 3: wouldn't you know? On the TV? So that's, you know,
- 10:06Speaker 3: two three hours before the game. But that time I.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Wasn't playing, so I was like, you know, I'm hungry,
- 10:11Speaker 4: probably not going to eat for another hour or two.
- 10:13Speaker 1: So yes, wait, Terrell, this is interesting. So when you
- 10:15Speaker 1: say you're looking for flights home.
- 10:17Speaker 2: This is it. I'm done.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Are you saying I'm done with the NFL, I'm done
- 10:19Speaker 1: with football? Is that what you were thinking of that moment?
- 10:21Speaker 3: I was done?
- 10:22Speaker 2: Really well?
- 10:22Speaker 4: I well, I knew if I had left Denver, there
- 10:26Speaker 4: were probably not many opportunities after that, and so my
- 10:31Speaker 4: plan was to go back to Georgia, you know, work for.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Coca Cola or something.
- 10:35Speaker 4: I mean, that was that was the plan, right because
- 10:37Speaker 4: I you know, a lot of a lot of the
- 10:38Speaker 4: players would work for Coke after they left Georgia. And
- 10:43Speaker 4: then it was emotions talking, you know, I was I
- 10:45Speaker 4: was done. I was frustrated. I wasn't I wasn't playing.
- 10:48Speaker 4: But then when I did try to play, I just
- 10:50Speaker 4: felt like my coach was on me hard. And I
- 10:52Speaker 4: appreciate him doing that when I look back on it.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Bobby Turner was running backs coach, and he was like
- 10:57Speaker 4: that on me, you know, to me my entire career.
- 11:00Speaker 3: He never let he never let up.
- 11:02Speaker 4: And so having a coach like that who pushes you
- 11:05Speaker 4: all the time, who you can have an awesome run.
- 11:08Speaker 4: I remember I had this awesome run. I thought I
- 11:11Speaker 4: broke like two tackles, you know, picked up like seven yards.
- 11:14Speaker 4: I was like, oh, yeah, that was man, that was
- 11:16Speaker 4: a good player. He shows me the tape and he's
- 11:19Speaker 4: disappointed that I didn't break the third tackle.
- 11:25Speaker 3: He says, you should be getting more.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Out of that play, right, And so he had this
- 11:31Speaker 4: way of making you mad at him. But then he
- 11:34Speaker 4: also challenged you to challenge, you know, to make you say, okay,
- 11:38Speaker 4: if you I'm going to show you. And that's the
- 11:40Speaker 4: kind of coach.
- 11:41Speaker 3: He was like. He wasn't impressed by anything.
- 11:45Speaker 4: And so no Bobby Turner's best running backs coach I've
- 11:49Speaker 4: ever played.
- 11:49Speaker 3: For give him props. Man, he was behind.
- 11:52Speaker 4: He was that man behind that didn't allow you to
- 11:55Speaker 4: to look at the flowers, you know, and patch yourself
- 11:59Speaker 4: on the back of you were great. He was not
- 12:01Speaker 4: that coach.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Always thought you could do more.
- 12:03Speaker 5: Yes, of course, what's what's the ideal toppings for a
- 12:06Speaker 5: hot dog?
- 12:07Speaker 3: Oh? Good question.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Oh I'm just a mustard guy. But back then it
- 12:11Speaker 4: was playing. There was no no condiments. It was just
- 12:13Speaker 4: the hot dog. You couldn't go, you couldn't get relish
- 12:16Speaker 4: he can get with no catch up, no Chicago dogs.
- 12:19Speaker 2: He was just on the sidelines. And Togay's shoveling hot
- 12:22Speaker 2: dogs down his throat.
- 12:23Speaker 6: He's surprised they had.
- 12:25Speaker 3: What do you think? What's what's the what's the perfect
- 12:27Speaker 3: topic for you on the hot dog? What you got
- 12:29Speaker 3: for me?
- 12:30Speaker 5: It's just catch up. But I don't mind going to
- 12:32Speaker 5: Chicago and getting like a Chicago dog and having the
- 12:35Speaker 5: works on it.
- 12:36Speaker 3: And the works would be like what like relish.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Relish, mile tomatoes.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Nickles, Yeah, sour kraut or you're a sour Krout type
- 12:45Speaker 4: person that puts that on a hot dog.
- 12:48Speaker 5: I'll never put it. But if ones presented to me
- 12:51Speaker 5: with soauer kraut, I will not object to it.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Right, I have to go like Krout with mustard? How
- 12:55Speaker 2: about you to Yes, Yeah, I'm not Mike.
- 12:57Speaker 3: What you got over the Mike? You're nothing Mustard in relish?
- 13:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm a classic. I try to keep it simple.
- 13:04Speaker 4: All my food, everything is simple, it's plain. I don't
- 13:07Speaker 4: need all the fixed ses on it need. If I
- 13:09Speaker 4: go order, you know, a steak, I don't ask for
- 13:12Speaker 4: a one. I don't ask for all the saucewater.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I want a steak. Yes, if I want to, you know,
- 13:16Speaker 3: if I get a salmon medium the steak.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, gotta be yeah, almost almost that look like
- 13:26Speaker 4: you gotta stab it a few more times before.
- 13:27Speaker 1: You Yeah, my wife had ketchup.
- 13:31Speaker 2: We went to a very uh, you know, popular steakhast.
- 13:33Speaker 1: The first date I ever went on with my wife
- 13:36Speaker 1: went to a popular steakhost down here in Miami and
- 13:38Speaker 1: we ordered a porterhouse for two, and she asked the
- 13:40Speaker 1: waiter for ketchup, and the date almost ended right there.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I was mad at her. I was angry.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I was upset. You're embarrassing me, You're embarrassing the chef.
- 13:48Speaker 1: No one at this steak is fantastic. Who's right? Who's wrong?
- 13:51Speaker 2: There? Me or her?

- 15:41Speaker 1: In Louisiana, h zereles someone who has UH, who has
- 16:01Speaker 1: battled through UH some injuries that come back and play
- 16:04Speaker 1: it again. What do you think we should expect for
- 16:06Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes early in the season. It's gonna take him
- 16:09Speaker 1: a minute to get back to being Patrick Mahomes, correct.
- 16:13Speaker 3: I think so.
- 16:15Speaker 4: But quarterbacks are a little different, right, and and he's
- 16:19Speaker 4: not necessarily a score he you know, he's he can
- 16:23Speaker 4: get out of the pocket obviously. But I don't I
- 16:25Speaker 4: don't think anybody thinks that Patrick has a a threat
- 16:30Speaker 4: to kind of, you know, to use his legs quite
- 16:32Speaker 4: a bit.
- 16:32Speaker 3: He can, he can stay back there.
- 16:34Speaker 4: I do look at bows situation a little bo Nixon's
- 16:38Speaker 4: situation because it's a foot injury, and that's that scares
- 16:42Speaker 4: me a little bit. Yeah, that ankle, that ankle, foot
- 16:45Speaker 4: scares me a little bit. And every time he scrambles,
- 16:49Speaker 4: every time he does something, I think we're all gonna
- 16:51Speaker 4: have that that reaction of holding our breaths to make
- 16:54Speaker 4: sure that he's cool.
- 16:55Speaker 3: And I do know that for both of them.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Though, the psychological part of it, the mental part of it,
- 17:01Speaker 4: is the biggest thing you have to overcome.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Right, It's a trust, trust that it's healthy.
- 17:05Speaker 4: Yes, you have to trust it, and you if you're
- 17:08Speaker 4: making decisions based off you don't want to get it hurt.
- 17:11Speaker 3: That's how you get hurt. So you got to.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Clear the mind. You got to trust the doctors, trust
- 17:15Speaker 4: that you put the work in. And when you're out there,
- 17:18Speaker 4: there can't be any any limitations. You can't think I'm
- 17:21Speaker 4: going to try to preserve the injury by adjusting my game.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Your game has to be your game. And if they if.
- 17:29Speaker 4: Patrick does that, if Boat does that, then whatever happens happens.
- 17:33Speaker 4: I think they'll they'll play well. We'll be scared, I
- 17:36Speaker 4: think everybody looking at them.
- 17:38Speaker 3: But uh, just yeah, try not to. It's easier said
- 17:42Speaker 3: to that.
- 17:43Speaker 6: Let me just say that, TD, I got listen to
- 17:46Speaker 6: you tell stories all day. And as in this new
- 17:51Speaker 6: age of this NFL, the hard knocks version where we
- 17:54Speaker 6: can see everything every meeting. The other day we saw
- 17:58Speaker 6: John Harbaugh's open uh meeting with the team and it was.
- 18:03Speaker 3: It was cringey.
- 18:04Speaker 6: And I think we all assume that all of these
- 18:07Speaker 6: coaches are these great orators when they get in front
- 18:09Speaker 6: of the team, every speech has got you.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Ready to run through a wall.
- 18:13Speaker 6: Has there been any coaches that have been particularly good
- 18:16Speaker 6: or particularly bad when they've been in front of the group.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Well, I will say Mike Shanahan. I love.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I loved how he approached the team. It wasn't the
- 18:28Speaker 4: big speeches. Mike was not a big speech too. He
- 18:31Speaker 4: didn't go on there and talk about I mean stuff
- 18:34Speaker 4: where you're just like, man, peace, be quiet, just be quiet,
- 18:36Speaker 4: like Mike was just he was just about the details,
- 18:39Speaker 4: like he'd walk into a meeting and just talk about, Hey,
- 18:42Speaker 4: here's where our goals are, here's what we have to do.
- 18:44Speaker 4: All right, let's get into our practice. And it was
- 18:46Speaker 4: everything was just like it was. I mean, it was
- 18:48Speaker 4: in order right, and so when we would we would
- 18:51Speaker 4: when we would actually have a game, I really appreciated
- 18:55Speaker 4: coach who you have to read the room. You have
- 18:57Speaker 4: to know your players don't want to hear you speak.
- 18:58Speaker 4: They don't want to hear they don't want to hear.
- 18:59Speaker 4: Speed before a game, make sure your players are ready,
- 19:04Speaker 4: go up there, talk about the thing, and Mike. Mike
- 19:06Speaker 4: would leave you with a few words. And these words,
- 19:08Speaker 4: you know, sometimes I run through a brick wall for
- 19:10Speaker 4: the man. He'd say something like, Man, if you guys
- 19:13Speaker 4: don't beat this team by forty points, you should be embarrassed.
- 19:16Speaker 3: And that's what he would say to a tape. That
- 19:18Speaker 3: that would be his speech to the tape, as simple
- 19:21Speaker 3: as that, right, I mean like.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Or he'll say, guys, you don't want to go out
- 19:26Speaker 4: there and beat this team, you want embarrassed it.
- 19:30Speaker 3: That's it, yes, And then he'll always ended with, hey,
- 19:33Speaker 3: let's go out there and show the world who we are.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Right, short and sweet? Right?
- 19:36Speaker 3: That was it?
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yes? Right, you know what you need to do?
- 19:39Speaker 3: Yes, that's it, Like we were already prepared. He prepared us.
- 19:43Speaker 3: They they've already done all that stuff.
- 19:45Speaker 4: And that's why when people sometimes they ask me to
- 19:47Speaker 4: come and give a speech to a team before before
- 19:49Speaker 4: a game.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Oh, it's it's you don't want to do.
- 19:54Speaker 4: That's just because you know, half the kids aren't listening
- 19:59Speaker 4: to you man before game, like and then what are
- 20:00Speaker 4: you gonna tell them? It's gonna change their mentality? Right
- 20:04Speaker 4: before they walk onto the field.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Yes, yes, Wait, so you've been asked to do that before.
- 20:08Speaker 1: You've been asked to talk to the team.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I've done that a few times.
- 20:12Speaker 4: And I was on a street where every time I
- 20:17Speaker 4: spoke to a team before the game, the team lost.
- 20:21Speaker 2: So they're like Terrell again, Jesus.
- 20:27Speaker 4: So I always gotta, I gotta, I gotta remind coaches.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Now I'm gonna say, hey, man, y'all, don't really you
- 20:31Speaker 4: really don't want me talking.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Teams are when I give a pre game speech.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Yes, you really don't want me doing that. Man, you
- 20:40Speaker 4: know you got them already. Just just go with that.
- 20:43Speaker 4: They're good.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'll get you out of here in a minute. Man,
- 20:46Speaker 1: How do you feel about Georgia this year?
- 20:49Speaker 4: I always feel great about Georgia. What I I don't
- 20:52Speaker 4: feel great about is the landscape. The landscape and where
- 20:58Speaker 4: teams are.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Now.
- 21:00Speaker 4: I've taken the secret weapon of the big dogs at
- 21:03Speaker 4: Georgia's the Alabama's and you know they Now everybody's coming
- 21:08Speaker 4: to the fight with the same stick. You know what
- 21:10Speaker 4: I'm saying, Like you ain't. Yes, right, you know what
- 21:13Speaker 4: I'm saying. Everybody's got the same club now, Like you
- 21:17Speaker 4: ain't coming there with the super duper. You ain't got
- 21:20Speaker 4: this iron set that nobody has, they're all coming to it.
- 21:23Speaker 4: And then the depth, like the depths aren't there anymore.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Like your first team is five star and then you're
- 21:29Speaker 4: not keeping a five star behind them. It's just not happening, right.
- 21:32Speaker 4: So but Kirby, man, he's the way he's coached over
- 21:35Speaker 4: the last I don't know, I mean years kurb has
- 21:37Speaker 4: been there, probably ten years. Feels like done, you know,
- 21:40Speaker 4: it's done. A fantastic job, awesome coach, always gonna have
- 21:43Speaker 4: the boys ready. We're always seemed like we're always going
- 21:47Speaker 4: to be in the SEC Championship game. The last couple
- 21:51Speaker 4: of times in the playoffs we just haven't done as well.
- 21:54Speaker 3: So man, I'm hoping this year is the one that
- 21:57Speaker 3: we can we can make some noise in the.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Playoff house, the portal.
- 22:02Speaker 1: It's a blessing and a curse, right, It's a curse
- 22:04Speaker 1: because you no longer have five stars behind five stars.
- 22:06Speaker 1: But it's a blessing from this standpoint. Those five stars
- 22:09Speaker 1: who aren't playing can go somewhere else and play, right.
- 22:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean from that standpoint, like as a parent,
- 22:15Speaker 4: I have a fifteen year old boy and thirteen year
- 22:17Speaker 4: old boy, and I don't know if their futures are
- 22:20Speaker 4: even in football, but in the event it is. I
- 22:24Speaker 4: like it for them because they can now start off
- 22:27Speaker 4: at smaller schools. Where before, if you didn't go straight
- 22:31Speaker 4: to Georgia or straight to Alabama, Michigan, ohiuse state, it
- 22:35Speaker 4: was hard to get into those schools. Right now, I
- 22:37Speaker 4: think the big teams schools are looking for you to
- 22:40Speaker 4: go get developed somewhere else. You know, Now you can
- 22:43Speaker 4: go play and get developed, and then you can transfer
- 22:48Speaker 4: over to another school and up to the competition as
- 22:53Speaker 4: well as you know, hopefully the pocket gets a little
- 22:56Speaker 4: fatter too. So you know what I don't like is
- 22:59Speaker 4: the I do want it to be a little bit
- 23:01Speaker 4: more organized when it comes to transfer and meaning limit
- 23:05Speaker 4: that to maybe one every two years, yes, And then
- 23:08Speaker 4: it should be buyouts. If a school loses a player
- 23:11Speaker 4: to another school, that school should have to pay a
- 23:15Speaker 4: buyout to the university that lost that player because we've
- 23:18Speaker 4: invested money, time in developing that child, I mean that kid,
- 23:22Speaker 4: and now he leaves and the school's left with nothing,
- 23:25Speaker 4: you know what I mean. So you can use a
- 23:27Speaker 4: farm system, which would be great, so smaller schools that
- 23:32Speaker 4: need to go get the four or five stars out
- 23:34Speaker 4: of high school or whatever. I started hearing now that
- 23:37Speaker 4: a lot of these colleges aren't even recruiting high school players.
- 23:39Speaker 2: They're not, they're not, They're just they're in the portal
- 23:42Speaker 2: the entire time. Yeah, yeah, it's crazy.
- 23:44Speaker 4: So I just I just want to know what that
- 23:48Speaker 4: I'm gonna be agent for my kid.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I tell you that, Yes, an agent.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Right, you get to take a percentage or what are
- 23:55Speaker 2: you going to do there? You gonna take a percentage
- 23:56Speaker 2: of your kid's money?
- 23:57Speaker 3: Is that?
- 23:59Speaker 4: I'm totally told them, I'm gonna send the first First
- 24:02Speaker 4: of all, I'm gonna send them a bill, yes, all
- 24:05Speaker 4: the Yes, that's the itemized bill of all the things
- 24:09Speaker 4: they have to pay back.
- 24:10Speaker 3: That's gonna be the first part.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Oh you have a running tab, do you, Trell?
- 24:13Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, we got that.
- 24:17Speaker 3: This ain't free this back?
- 24:20Speaker 1: All right, we'll get you out of here real quickly
- 24:23Speaker 1: before we talk about TV again. Uh, not Terrell Davis.
- 24:26Speaker 1: The thing you're promoting here, which I'm terrified to pronounce.
- 24:29Speaker 1: When you hear when you hear Kirby talking about the
- 24:31Speaker 1: SEC and their Commissioner talking about the SEC breaking away
- 24:34Speaker 1: from college football.
- 24:35Speaker 2: What is your reaction to that.
- 24:38Speaker 3: I know I've heard that.
- 24:39Speaker 4: I understand what they're saying, but I think it's all
- 24:42Speaker 4: it's all tall man. You know the SEC. You know
- 24:45Speaker 4: they're they're big, but you know they need other conferences.
- 24:48Speaker 4: I'm obviously the Big Ten seems to be the other
- 24:49Speaker 4: conference that they they are, you know, riding with. But
- 24:54Speaker 4: it's probably way more complicated than just saying we're gonna
- 24:58Speaker 4: break off. But but I have heard this, and maybe maybe
- 25:02Speaker 4: it's real. Maybe it's not about colleges becoming basically, with
- 25:09Speaker 4: getting out of the n C double a business and
- 25:11Speaker 4: becoming private, private equity money coming in and basically having
- 25:15Speaker 4: like a league in themselves and then do like maybe
- 25:19Speaker 4: a license team with the schools that they represent, or
- 25:22Speaker 4: they pay licensing fees and stuff like that, but become
- 25:24Speaker 4: its own, its own league. Now, that would be that
- 25:29Speaker 4: would be interesting to see if that has any.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Teeth to it. But yeah, money would be flowing.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I can tell you that, well, it's already flowing.
- 25:38Speaker 3: It'll be really flowing.
- 25:40Speaker 2: It could be flowing for you when your kid pays
- 25:41Speaker 2: you back.
- 25:42Speaker 4: How about that, Well, they what they need to do though,
- 25:44Speaker 4: is I mean, listen, I played college football and if
- 25:47Speaker 4: I were, if I recall, then the settlement was supposed
- 25:50Speaker 4: to pay back the old players too.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Because I haven't seen.
- 25:52Speaker 2: A dime from from your settlement. Yes, it was supposed to.
- 25:57Speaker 1: You haven't received the check yet, huh not yet?
- 26:02Speaker 2: Oh man, I'm sorry about that, Terrell.
- 26:04Speaker 1: So you say, you say it's not coming. What you're saying,
- 26:07Speaker 1: I'm saying yet? Yeah, no, I'm saying. I'm saying there's
- 26:11Speaker 1: a good chance it's not coming. That's all I'm saying. Yes,
- 26:15Speaker 1: And I'll tell you what else. You have a less
- 26:17Speaker 1: chance of your kid giving you a check paying you
- 26:20Speaker 1: back for all the money you've played out for I mean,
- 26:22Speaker 1: you have a better chance of getting the other one.
- 26:24Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 26:27Speaker 6: All right?
- 26:27Speaker 2: True, We appreciate the time as always.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Man.
- 26:30Speaker 2: The other TV dot com is the website.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Please pronounce it for me again, and please tell people
- 26:35Speaker 1: why this is important to you.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Yes, it's important, man. Go to tar dive.
- 26:39Speaker 4: It's called tardive dysknesia and go to the other TV
- 26:42Speaker 4: dot com for more information, or go see a healthcare provider. Man,
- 26:47Speaker 4: this is big to me man, I'm big into the
- 26:50Speaker 4: health advocacy and so to be able to help out
- 26:54Speaker 4: with this is something that I really do feel like.
- 26:57Speaker 4: It's it's near and dearer to me. I want to
