- 0:00Speaker 1: This production is brought to you by the Recess Bell.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Bye.
- 0:10Speaker 1: All right, No, Stacy, we need you. You're like the Emperor.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Hey, I want my mom to be a bad guy.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Okay, well, in my eyes, the Emperor is good.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Man.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Are you sure we only need fifty minutes?
- 0:29Speaker 1: Man?
- 0:30Speaker 3: You sure?
- 0:31Speaker 1: All right? So what did your mom say?
- 0:33Speaker 3: No?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Touching the microphone?
- 0:34Speaker 3: Right? Yeah, I'm trying to hold it in place.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I think it could just sort of dangle.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Fine, stop touching.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Just adjust to your neck and not the microphone.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Yeah, do you push me in?
- 0:51Speaker 3: Are gonna do this anymore?
- 0:55Speaker 4: You're now?
- 0:58Speaker 1: Somebody just turned off their microphone. Who would that be?
- 1:01Speaker 3: I think that was Nick?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Wait?
- 1:03Speaker 1: No?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Was that me?
- 1:05Speaker 2: No?
- 1:05Speaker 1: Nick, I'm on I just turned him on.
- 1:08Speaker 3: You hear me, Dak, can you hear me?
- 1:09Speaker 4: I can hear you.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I'm glad that you actually get to witness.
- 1:14Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I think we're good. I think all of our levels
- 1:16Speaker 1: are decent. Decent is okay?
- 1:19Speaker 3: Hello?
- 1:20Speaker 1: Are you guys ready?
- 1:21Speaker 3: Hi?
- 1:21Speaker 1: Are you ready?
- 1:22Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:23Speaker 2: We're not we are.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Let's get into it. This is the film reel right
- 1:26Speaker 1: here on the Recess Belt Network. My name is Justin
- 1:29Speaker 1: and joining me today is the Rain Family. And we
- 1:32Speaker 1: are going to be talking about star Wars and movies
- 1:34Speaker 1: and parenting. I suppose we've got Stacy here, who has
- 1:40Speaker 1: been a fixture on the film reel Hello. We have
- 1:43Speaker 1: her two kids, me, Henry.
- 1:45Speaker 3: And Nick minus one minus one minus one.
- 1:48Speaker 1: We should have had him Jamie Yoda, little grogu.
- 1:52Speaker 2: He can't be trusted. These two can't be trusted either,
- 1:54Speaker 2: but he's definitely can't be true.
- 1:56Speaker 3: I'm the one who could be most trusted.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:59Speaker 4: You'd be riding on him my phone right now.
- 2:02Speaker 1: That voice you heard is the husband, the father. How
- 2:06Speaker 1: are you, Keith? How's everything going?
- 2:08Speaker 4: I am well glad to be here.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Last I saw you we were at the Dan Daily
- 2:13Speaker 1: event over at Eisenhower Park, which was fantastic there Daily.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Insane.
- 2:21Speaker 4: I brought both of them for color.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, whenever I see them, I imagine that
- 2:25Speaker 1: one scene in the Revenge of the Sith where Anakin
- 2:28Speaker 1: is just with the young lings and just just ready
- 2:31Speaker 1: to take them down with the lightsabers.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Pretty much.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Wait, did you see Luke Shywalker again?
- 2:40Speaker 1: No? If you want to be Luke Skywalker.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Are you I can fight Henry down? No, I can
- 2:50Speaker 3: fight Henry, I'm gonna get out of my light camer
- 2:54Speaker 3: after this. You created the clones.
- 2:56Speaker 1: All right, let's focus. We're gonna try as focus as
- 2:59Speaker 1: much as possible. This show is going to go off
- 3:02Speaker 1: the rails. And you know, I expected I knew what
- 3:04Speaker 1: I was getting into, did you, Yes, I very much did.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But it is Friday when we're recording this, and they
- 3:10Speaker 1: just had some candy that was left out there, so
- 3:13Speaker 1: it's probably not going to end well. We're all going
- 3:15Speaker 1: to turn to the dark side of the forest.
- 3:16Speaker 4: But before we get to.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Some Star Wars.
- 3:20Speaker 3: On the good side, you could be on the good side.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Before we get to Star Wars, we are going to
- 3:25Speaker 1: talk about some other things. So you know, right now,
- 3:27Speaker 1: it's almost the end of the school year. Have you
- 3:29Speaker 1: guys been good students or bad students?
- 3:32Speaker 3: I don't know. I didn't good. Probably, I I'm not sure.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Stacy, what do you think? What did you see the
- 3:38Speaker 1: report cards? What do you think?
- 3:40Speaker 2: Academically?
- 3:42Speaker 5: Yes, they have no issues academically, we did notice, that's right.
- 3:47Speaker 2: What would you say? Crazy? Crazy children?
- 3:50Speaker 5: So they were playing they were playing pickleball after school today,
- 3:53Speaker 5: the club pickleball in the gym and the teacher alled
- 3:58Speaker 5: in a loudspeaker telling everybody to sit down, and uh,
- 4:02Speaker 5: one of my two children, I won't say which was
- 4:04Speaker 5: was probably the last one had to be called out
- 4:06Speaker 5: by name. So that tells me everything you need to know.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Well, you know, are you? Are you into the athletics
- 4:13Speaker 1: though maybe that's a future maybe a professional pickleball player?
- 4:17Speaker 3: No, I am Diane.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Did you guys ever think you know what you want
- 4:22Speaker 1: to do when you grow up? Is it something you've
- 4:24Speaker 1: thought about? A lovely cough into the microphone.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Not do that again.
- 4:31Speaker 1: We've heard worse from professionals here at w HBC. This
- 4:34Speaker 1: is that was nothing. That's just a normal Tuesday morning show.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Nick, What do you want to be when you grow up?
- 4:39Speaker 3: Buddy?
- 4:42Speaker 5: Which is different because for the longest time ask questions
- 4:47Speaker 5: you would say a worker?
- 4:49Speaker 1: A worker.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Accurate six year old I've ever seen in my life?
- 4:55Speaker 1: What about you, Henry? You ever think about the future.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I've had a lot of options.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Well, what do you think and what's what's on your
- 5:01Speaker 1: mind now?
- 5:02Speaker 4: Such as and so on?
- 5:04Speaker 3: Mostly marine, I'm going to be that one day.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Oh my god, I love it, love to hear it,
- 5:09Speaker 1: especially after that Dan Daly event. Who was just an
- 5:13Speaker 1: awesome guy from what we heard. And it was a
- 5:15Speaker 1: special event that you know, Keith invited me and Stacy
- 5:17Speaker 1: to broadcast from and w HBC, our radio station that
- 5:20Speaker 1: me and Stacy worked for, were able to broadcast from
- 5:23Speaker 1: that event and watch future Marines do their things. So
- 5:26Speaker 1: that was a fantastic thing. Now, last time, I still.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I still think we should have flipped the tire.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yeah, there was a lot of things we should have done.
- 5:31Speaker 1: We should have pulled the car, We should have done
- 5:33Speaker 1: the tug of war. I mean, we got to come
- 5:35Speaker 1: back next year. I know you guys are moving, but
- 5:37Speaker 1: maybe a visit, you know by Moral Day weekend.
- 5:40Speaker 3: You should have You should have pulit and see and
- 5:43Speaker 3: played tuggle War against the future and see it they're good.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Do you think me and Justin could have won single handedly?
- 5:49Speaker 3: No?
- 5:50Speaker 4: I think so.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I know so because we have we have teamwork. Teamwork
- 5:54Speaker 1: makes the something. Just some catchphrase that rhymes with that
- 5:58Speaker 1: the dream work. Is that a catch for Yeah, that's
- 6:01Speaker 1: a movie company, dream works.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yes, so now work makes the dream work.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Let's talk about some other movies before we you know,
- 6:08Speaker 1: get the Star Wars. Last time we had you on,
- 6:11Speaker 1: we were excited about the Minecraft movie. Now, did you
- 6:14Speaker 1: guys ever get an opportunity? Listen, there's gonna be sounds,
- 6:17Speaker 1: there's gonna be snorting, there's gonna be sneezing, and just
- 6:20Speaker 1: watching Stacy just flip out. She's you know, turns into
- 6:24Speaker 1: the mother from Home alone, just like freaking out. So
- 6:27Speaker 1: do you know what she's on, Katherine O'Hare, what is
- 6:31Speaker 1: she on?
- 6:31Speaker 3: Now?
- 6:32Speaker 2: She's on the Last the second season of the Last
- 6:34Speaker 2: of Us.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Oh, really, I heard that's terrible.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You heard the seasons here?
- 6:39Speaker 1: I heard the season was really bad because people are
- 6:41Speaker 1: very much a big fan of the first season. I
- 6:42Speaker 1: think it fell off. Really, Yeah, you're on what season?
- 6:48Speaker 3: Word?
- 6:48Speaker 4: Season two?
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, a couple of episodes.
- 6:50Speaker 5: Yeah, we just started it and we were Kevin's.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Is she wearing like, uh makeup? Doors?
- 6:59Speaker 2: It just I mean, she just looks looks herself.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You know, it's always interesting when somebody's so synonymous with
- 7:06Speaker 1: one roll. Then you see it's like, is that creamer
- 7:08Speaker 1: from Seinfeld doesn't judge? Like, what the hell?
- 7:12Speaker 4: Seriously?
- 7:13Speaker 1: Yeah? Right, So let's get to Minecraft, because I know
- 7:16Speaker 1: you guys are going nuts right now. So what did
- 7:18Speaker 1: you think of the Minecraft movie? You guys saw it
- 7:21Speaker 1: in theaters. I hope you weren't throwing popcorn and acting like,
- 7:23Speaker 1: you know, knuckleheads in the theater like some of these
- 7:25Speaker 1: other kids are doing well.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I was. Yeah. I think the thing that I least
- 7:32Speaker 3: liked it about it in the movie theaters was everybody
- 7:34Speaker 3: was clapping about everything.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yeah, they were going nuts, you know chicken jockey.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Yeah, they clapped on every scene.
- 7:41Speaker 1: So that ruined the experience from you.
- 7:43Speaker 4: We were not prepared for that.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. P O V plunted steel.
- 7:50Speaker 1: See. And then this was a discussion we actually had
- 7:52Speaker 1: last time, was do you prefer watching the movies at
- 7:55Speaker 1: home or in the theaters? And I think your experience
- 7:58Speaker 1: with Minecraft might have U you know, because I remember you, Henry,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I think, said you would rather watch it at home.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So now this just reinforces your statement that you know
- 8:08Speaker 1: you'd rather have watched the movie at home. Nick, you
- 8:10Speaker 1: saw the movie as well. What did you think of Minecraft? Great?
- 8:16Speaker 2: You like all the music you have me listening to it.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I like the I forget the song that he sings,
- 8:21Speaker 1: Chicken song.
- 8:25Speaker 5: Chicken.
- 8:29Speaker 1: That was I thought it was a fun movie. Have
- 8:32Speaker 1: you guys seen anything else this week? We have How
- 8:34Speaker 1: to Train Your Dragon the live action remake comes out,
- 8:37Speaker 1: We're going to take him to We're going to.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Go see that next week.
- 8:40Speaker 1: You guys didn't see Leelo and Stitch yet? Now, I
- 8:44Speaker 1: don't know I have. Well, no, probably saw the cartoon.
- 8:50Speaker 1: You know. That's a common thing that my nephew says too.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I go, did you see this? He's like, yeah, yeah,
- 8:54Speaker 1: yeah at school, And I'll just name a random movie,
- 8:56Speaker 1: like did you see Shindler's Listening? Yea, yeah, yeah's school. Like,
- 8:58Speaker 1: I don't think I'm five years old. I'm sure they
- 9:01Speaker 1: didn't show you that.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I know he did see Nick saw Charlie and the
- 9:05Speaker 2: Chocolate Factory a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, And I
- 9:08Speaker 2: was like, well, which version do you? Which version is
- 9:10Speaker 2: your favorite?
- 9:11Speaker 1: I don't even think it's up for debate.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the first one, of course, the original Gan
- 9:15Speaker 2: Wilde and that one she showed and I was very
- 9:18Speaker 2: pleased to hear it.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I didn't mind. Did you guys see Wonka? Though that
- 9:21Speaker 1: came out a few years ago with Timothy SHALAMAI I
- 9:24Speaker 1: actually enjoyed it.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I forgot that you liked that one. We need to
- 9:26Speaker 2: put that one on our life.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I thought the music was fantastic and it was like
- 9:30Speaker 1: a nice heartwarming story that Johnny depp one I could
- 9:32Speaker 1: never get into though, but the original is always the best.
- 9:34Speaker 5: Really, we're getting them hyped up for space Balls too.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Yes, did you see that?
- 9:39Speaker 4: I did? I did, very exciting.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I'm hoping that, you know, everything goes right and they
- 9:46Speaker 1: actually make the movie because you know, the director, mel Brooks,
- 9:49Speaker 1: being ninety eight years old.
- 9:51Speaker 4: What if he lives until twenty twenty.
- 9:52Speaker 1: He lives, so.
- 9:53Speaker 2: He's actually legitimately ninety eight, ninety eight.
- 9:55Speaker 5: Years old, and he's going to return as a yogurt
- 9:58Speaker 5: Yeah for the second.
- 10:01Speaker 4: No, I'm dead sero.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 10:02Speaker 1: So you know, there's a lot of comics, there's a
- 10:06Speaker 1: yeah returns. There's a lot of comedy sequels though that
- 10:08Speaker 1: unfortunately don't usually hit, and especially this one being forty
- 10:12Speaker 1: something years later, I don't know how well it's going
- 10:14Speaker 1: to do. But I'm excited to see a comedy in theaters,
- 10:16Speaker 1: which is something that doesn't happen. But let's go to
- 10:19Speaker 1: Star Wars. This is why we're here. Keith, I know
- 10:21Speaker 1: you're a big Star Wars fan, and I'm sure you've
- 10:23Speaker 1: shown your kids the Star Wars franchise, So let's start
- 10:26Speaker 1: with there. Let's start with you, Keith. How did you
- 10:28Speaker 1: get into Star Wars? Did you see the originals in
- 10:30Speaker 1: theaters or you know, what was your introduction to it?
- 10:33Speaker 5: I did not, so growing up, my older brother got
- 10:38Speaker 5: me into Star Wars. So he's he's about five six.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Years older than I am.
- 10:43Speaker 5: And some of my earliest memories were watching Empire Strikes Back,
- 10:48Speaker 5: Return of the Jedi. I think we had the VHS
- 10:52Speaker 5: you know tape that we probably ripped off the TV somewhere.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Oh you didn't even have it legitimately, No, yeah, for sure,
- 10:58Speaker 5: which is which is completely my family style.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, well we did the same thing.
- 11:02Speaker 5: So I you know, it's hard, you know when you
- 11:05Speaker 5: remember a playlist and what comes next in the playlist
- 11:07Speaker 5: and your Spotify or something, and when I think of
- 11:10Speaker 5: Empire Strikes Back, you know, I'll think of it, you know,
- 11:12Speaker 5: with with commercials in between that you just.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Your brother's like second birthday that they recorded over.
- 11:18Speaker 5: But I probably watched the Empire Stripe Back five hundred
- 11:22Speaker 5: times as a child, So yeah, I got into it
- 11:26Speaker 5: as a kid. And then one of my favorite memories
- 11:29Speaker 5: growing up was we skipped school one day to go
- 11:32Speaker 5: see The Phantom Menace. So there was that big gap
- 11:35Speaker 5: right between the original three.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Nineteen eighty three to nineteen ninety nine was the gap.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Wow?
- 11:39Speaker 1: Yeah, so you know the world didn't have Star Wars.
- 11:42Speaker 1: There was re releases in the special editions, which I'm
- 11:45Speaker 1: going to go on a rant on later on, but yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 1: for as far as a feature length film, sixteen years
- 11:50Speaker 1: so you skip school. I did that for Spider Man
- 11:52Speaker 1: a few years later in two thousand and two.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Sure did skip.
- 11:55Speaker 5: School and I think I was probably a sophomore maybe
- 11:58Speaker 5: maybe junior in high school and a neighbor's dad took
- 12:02Speaker 5: us all. We went Chinese food. We watched them atine
- 12:05Speaker 5: and I expected it to be sold out. It was
- 12:08Speaker 5: just it hardly was a was a thing. The theater
- 12:12Speaker 5: was about half half full. As it turns out, Phantom
- 12:16Speaker 5: Menace was was awful.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Did you think that when you were watching it?
- 12:19Speaker 4: Yeah? I was super excited.
- 12:20Speaker 2: He really this which one is that?
- 12:23Speaker 5: That's the one with jar Jar when when Anakin's a
- 12:27Speaker 5: kid doing the pod racing and.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I don't remember is Darth Maul the double bladed lightsaber?
- 12:35Speaker 2: I do remember that you do remember that.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Yeah, so that was sort of the first I guess,
- 12:41Speaker 1: you know, signs that Star Wars maybe isn't as good
- 12:45Speaker 1: as people thought it was. I actually have a really
- 12:47Speaker 1: hot take that I think Star Wars is the most
- 12:49Speaker 1: overrated franchise of all time, And and I love Star
- 12:52Speaker 1: Wars and I have a replica Lightsaber, and I've seen
- 12:55Speaker 1: all the movies and I'm a giant nerd for Star Wars.
- 12:58Speaker 1: That being said, I personally think there's a handful of
- 13:01Speaker 1: good movies, and if you just look at the totality
- 13:03Speaker 1: of the franchise, I think a lot of it's terrible. Yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 1: I think you have two and a half really good
- 13:08Speaker 1: movies and then a lot of stuff that's all right
- 13:11Speaker 1: and nothing super good. But we're gonna get into that
- 13:13Speaker 1: in a little bit. How about you, two young whipper snappers.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I'm sure your dad showed you Star Wars. Is that
- 13:19Speaker 1: where you were introduced to it?
- 13:20Speaker 5: Uh?
- 13:20Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, I was in by that.
- 13:24Speaker 5: We actually just watched one. Maybe two weeks ago, we
- 13:27Speaker 5: watched The Rise of Skywalker. I don't know that Nick
- 13:30Speaker 5: has seen all the movies. Henry's probably seen them all
- 13:33Speaker 5: by now, but but I have to really admit this
- 13:36Speaker 5: in public that I don't know that I showed them
- 13:38Speaker 5: in any logical order.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Oh, that was the question I was gonna ask, because
- 13:41Speaker 1: that's always something people always talk about. How should you
- 13:44Speaker 1: watch it? Should you watch it how was originally released
- 13:46Speaker 1: with the you know, four, five, and six? Or should
- 13:48Speaker 1: you watch it in order? Or just pretend that some
- 13:51Speaker 1: of them don't exist?
- 13:52Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think I probably at some point in
- 13:55Speaker 5: my life I had a thought of how I.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Should do it. You just didn't follow it through.
- 13:59Speaker 5: And then by the time, you know, movie night comes and.
- 14:03Speaker 4: You're just gassed, and it's you know.
- 14:06Speaker 5: You try to show them one thing and the next
- 14:09Speaker 5: thing you know, they're bored. And so I really I
- 14:11Speaker 5: kind of put the kids in the driver's seat on
- 14:13Speaker 5: that one. Which one do they want to watch? And
- 14:15Speaker 5: you know, it's I think it's a metaphor for parents.
- 14:17Speaker 5: So this is parenting, right, metaphor for parenting. The best
- 14:20Speaker 5: laid plans are useless because your kids get a vote
- 14:23Speaker 5: as well.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Is there something that you try to show them that
- 14:26Speaker 1: you were really hyped to show them and then they
- 14:29Speaker 1: end up not liking it? Or if you guys could
- 14:31Speaker 1: think of an answer that maybe your mom or dad
- 14:33Speaker 1: were like, you got to watch this movie. It's the best.
- 14:35Speaker 1: And then you're watching and you're like, you know, I
- 14:37Speaker 1: don't really like this, and you, as parents, do you
- 14:39Speaker 1: sense like, oh man, I wish they liked this.
- 14:42Speaker 4: We tried to.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Show them or was it missus doubtfire? Yes the other
- 14:45Speaker 5: day and we're like, you're gonna think this is so
- 14:48Speaker 5: funny Robin Williams, you know, he's stressing up as a
- 14:50Speaker 5: girl and uh, and they it just totally missed.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's an interesting one. They might be a little
- 14:58Speaker 1: too young. I'm not saying it's a fence, but maybe
- 15:00Speaker 1: the you know, you guys might think it's funnier, you know,
- 15:03Speaker 1: five six years from now. That's That's definitely something that
- 15:05Speaker 1: I've had to deal with as an uncle. My niece
- 15:08Speaker 1: refuses to watch Et the Extraterrestrial, which is one of
- 15:11Speaker 1: my favorite movies, and I just try and convince her.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I show her clips and she just gets bored of it.
- 15:16Speaker 1: But then they end up finding things that they like
- 15:19Speaker 1: on their own, and it's something that I'm interested. My
- 15:22Speaker 1: nephew's into pro wrestling now and I get to show
- 15:24Speaker 1: them all the old pro wrestling clips. So it's just
- 15:26Speaker 1: like he organically fell in love with something that I like,
- 15:29Speaker 1: or Ninja Turtles or Ghostbusters or all these other things
- 15:31Speaker 1: that I grew up liking. He you know, found in
- 15:34Speaker 1: his own way and discovered it himself.
- 15:36Speaker 5: I do wonder, you know the way we grew up
- 15:39Speaker 5: where you were kind of binge watching, right, You had
- 15:42Speaker 5: the VHS's that you had or the tapes that you made,
- 15:46Speaker 5: and you would kind of watch them over and over again.
- 15:49Speaker 5: Now with Netflix and Hulu and they have literally access
- 15:53Speaker 5: to hundreds of movies, and I don't I just think
- 15:56Speaker 5: it's gonna be very different that they have much more
- 15:58Speaker 5: variety that they're watching now, not as often.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It's too many options, and it's it's very overwhelming. Even
- 16:03Speaker 1: as an adult. You go on you have all these
- 16:05Speaker 1: streaming services and there's thousands of things, and then they
- 16:08Speaker 1: have internet in YouTube, you can literally search anything on
- 16:10Speaker 1: YouTube and TikTok, and there's just so much content out there.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And like you said, when you were a kid, if
- 16:15Speaker 1: you had a VHS tape, you were gonna run that
- 16:17Speaker 1: thing till it broke pretty much you're gonna watch it
- 16:19Speaker 1: over and over again. So it's a. It's a much
- 16:21Speaker 1: different world. But let's get to the kids. I want
- 16:24Speaker 1: to talk to you guys about Star Wars. So what
- 16:27Speaker 1: is your favorite film in the Star Wars franchise? Is
- 16:30Speaker 1: there one movie from that, you know, whole franchise that
- 16:34Speaker 1: you really like the most?
- 16:35Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 16:36Speaker 1: Yes, I love the last one, the last one. That
- 16:40Speaker 1: is one of the hotter takes on the film real podcast.
- 16:44Speaker 1: That's almost up there with your Home Alone takes. The
- 16:48Speaker 1: last one. Also, which one it depends? I guess which
- 16:52Speaker 1: world you're living in. In my mind, it ends with
- 16:54Speaker 1: Return of the Jedi and there's nothing else after that.
- 16:56Speaker 5: That's right, I think. Are you talking about the Rise
- 16:59Speaker 5: of Skywalker, the one we just saw.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Yeah, the one, the last one that.
- 17:03Speaker 1: We saw the Yeah, for the fifth time.
- 17:09Speaker 2: That's the one where I was like, this might be
- 17:10Speaker 2: a little to advance for Nick. Yes, I think I
- 17:14Speaker 2: actually sent you out of the room.
- 17:15Speaker 3: No you didn't, No, No, he sneaked back in here.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Wow, it was a little dark there when you were
- 17:23Speaker 5: in the underworld.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yes, some of Star Wars can be extremely frightening, and
- 17:28Speaker 1: you know, even just pictures of the back of the
- 17:31Speaker 1: DVD used to scare my cousin I remember, you know,
- 17:33Speaker 1: the Emperor is just a pretty frightening character. So how
- 17:36Speaker 1: about this, what is your Do you have a least
- 17:39Speaker 1: favorite film in the franchise? You know, can you differentiate
- 17:42Speaker 1: each film? Is is there one that you were maybe
- 17:44Speaker 1: bored with? For me, it's Attack of the Clones. I
- 17:47Speaker 1: thought that was just extraordinarily boring, and the romance I
- 17:51Speaker 1: don't think worked really well. I think the chemistry between
- 17:54Speaker 1: Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen was just really awkward. And
- 17:57Speaker 1: Natalie Portman's actually a pretty talented actress when given the
- 18:00Speaker 1: right script. But I just think the script did not work,
- 18:02Speaker 1: and the you know, they bringing in politics, and I
- 18:05Speaker 1: think it's just confusing to a lot of people that
- 18:07Speaker 1: are trying to watch it. So for me, Attack on
- 18:09Speaker 1: the Clones Episode two is my least favorite. Keith, you
- 18:12Speaker 1: do you have a least favorite in the franchise?
- 18:14Speaker 5: I actually thought all three of those films in that
- 18:17Speaker 5: series were bad, the prequels, That's right, Yeah, I thought
- 18:21Speaker 5: all three of the prequels. I mean, Phantom Menace was
- 18:23Speaker 5: was just annoying in the long run.
- 18:26Speaker 4: But I agree with you. I think all three of
- 18:28Speaker 4: those were bad.
- 18:31Speaker 1: I think Revenge of the Sith has some moments that
- 18:33Speaker 1: aren't awful really.
- 18:37Speaker 5: When you think about it. The final three, right, the
- 18:41Speaker 5: Rise of Skywalker and Last Jedi and The Force Awakens,
- 18:46Speaker 5: it's almost the same movies as the first you know,
- 18:50Speaker 5: the original Star Wars, New Hope and whatnot.
- 18:53Speaker 4: It's just a different cast.
- 18:54Speaker 1: It's very lazy. Particularly the first one, The Force Awakens,
- 18:57Speaker 1: is just a very the second one, they took a
- 19:01Speaker 1: lot of risks. You don't like the second one either.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Episode two. Yeah, I do find that the new trilogy.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Say what you will about the prequel trilogy, they did
- 19:09Speaker 1: take a lot of risks, and they tried different things,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and a lot of it didn't work, but at least
- 19:13Speaker 1: it was something different, whereas the sequel trilogy really felt
- 19:17Speaker 1: a regurgitation of that original trilogy, and especially that first
- 19:20Speaker 1: one took no risks and it was just a very
- 19:22Speaker 1: safe movie, and it was something that I really didn't
- 19:25Speaker 1: care for The Awaken The Force Awakens, which I didn't
- 19:28Speaker 1: think was awful, but it was just I think it
- 19:30Speaker 1: was the least bad out of the sequel trilogy.
- 19:33Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's interesting, you know, there's there's a lot
- 19:36Speaker 5: obviously written out there about you know Disney and the
- 19:41Speaker 5: political side of you know, the female lead and you know,
- 19:46Speaker 5: regardless of where you kind of stand on, I mean,
- 19:47Speaker 5: I think she was a compelling character regardless.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Well, there's a there's a term for those types of
- 19:53Speaker 1: characters and I forget the name, but it's like a
- 19:56Speaker 1: something Sue. It's a character that basically has unlimited power
- 20:01Speaker 1: and there's no flaws in her and it's just not
- 20:04Speaker 1: written where it's relatable in any sense. And I felt
- 20:07Speaker 1: like they did that and Disney. Don't get me started
- 20:10Speaker 1: with Disney, because you know, they have a lot of
- 20:13Speaker 1: issues when it comes to politics and playcating to different countries,
- 20:16Speaker 1: especially China. They have they purposely will alter movies just
- 20:21Speaker 1: to Playkate to different countries, and I think that's just
- 20:25Speaker 1: a cheap and terrible thing to do. Let's get the
- 20:28Speaker 1: kids involved. I want to find out you have a
- 20:29Speaker 1: favorite character in all of the Star Wars movies. Who's
- 20:33Speaker 1: your all time favorite? Let's start with you, Nick, Who do.
- 20:35Speaker 3: You got Luke Skywalker?
- 20:37Speaker 1: Luke Skywalker? That is a very good answer. Is there
- 20:40Speaker 1: something you like about Luke is because he's a hero
- 20:42Speaker 1: and he always stands up for the little guy? Is
- 20:44Speaker 1: that what you like? Yeah, good answer, Henry. Where are
- 20:48Speaker 1: you going with your favorite Star Wars character, Chewbacca? Can
- 20:52Speaker 1: you give us?
- 20:53Speaker 5: Oh?
- 20:53Speaker 1: We need to hear this, Stacey. Let's hear your Chewbacca impression.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Come on, get up to the microphone. You're gonna have
- 21:02Speaker 1: to do it.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I don't can't, I literally can't recall.
- 21:11Speaker 1: That's that's a good one, Henry. I hear screaming outside.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Do you hear that?
- 21:16Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 21:17Speaker 1: There's a force, uh spirit outside of our door.
- 21:22Speaker 3: No, it wasn't. I promise, Stacey.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Were not moving on to.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Anywhere.
- 21:31Speaker 1: No, lovely, now here's something funny, guys. Oh, well, were
- 21:38Speaker 1: you gonna do one next?
- 21:40Speaker 4: Perfect?
- 21:42Speaker 1: They made a Star Wars holiday special that took place
- 21:45Speaker 1: the year after the movie came out. It was all
- 21:47Speaker 1: about Chewbacca's family and they had to celebrate something called
- 21:51Speaker 1: Life Day, and it's something that George Lucas, who created
- 21:54Speaker 1: Star Wars, has tried to wipe out from existence. It
- 21:57Speaker 1: aired once and he literally disowned it and he's tried
- 22:02Speaker 1: to destroy every copy of it. You can find bootleg
- 22:04Speaker 1: versions on YouTube, but it is terrible. Literally, like twenty
- 22:08Speaker 1: minutes is just wookie discussion. So they're just going. It's
- 22:22Speaker 1: him talking to like his son and the different kids
- 22:24Speaker 1: as a kid. Lumpy in it, and he's a little wookie.
- 22:27Speaker 1: It's terrible. I think you guys should actually watch it
- 22:30Speaker 1: during the holiday season because it is one of the
- 22:32Speaker 1: most awful things.
- 22:33Speaker 3: But said, it's table though, but you.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Can have fun with it. You can laugh at terrible stuff.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I'm sure you've watched terrible things and laugh.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Maybe it can replace Home Alone.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Yeah, the Star Wars Holiday special, but it was the
- 22:44Speaker 1: introduction actually of Bubba Fett. They had an animated section
- 22:48Speaker 1: and that was the first time that Bubbafette was ever
- 22:50Speaker 1: shown on any screen. So what about you, Keith, You
- 22:55Speaker 1: got a favorite Star Wars character?
- 22:57Speaker 4: Hot take Lando Calrissian.
- 23:00Speaker 1: All right, that's not bad. In the Empire Strikes Back,
- 23:02Speaker 1: he's really cool.
- 23:04Speaker 5: I mean, you know, he's not Yoda or Chewy that
- 23:08Speaker 5: gets to live forever, but he makes that okay in
- 23:11Speaker 5: the end.
- 23:12Speaker 1: He's very suave and cool and very interesting sort of
- 23:15Speaker 1: introduction to his character politician. Yeah, you think he's you know,
- 23:20Speaker 1: a slime ball, but he sort of has a redemption
- 23:23Speaker 1: arc and that's a good choice. Played by the Great
- 23:26Speaker 1: Billy d Williams, one of those iconic seventies eighties, and.
- 23:29Speaker 4: He always looks like he's having a good time.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Yeah, he's got the cape, he's got the mustache.
- 23:34Speaker 4: How about you justin thank you.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Keith for My favorite is actually Yoda, somebody you mentioned.
- 23:40Speaker 1: And I really like Yoda because, you know, it sort
- 23:44Speaker 1: of shows that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover,
- 23:46Speaker 1: because when Yoda's introduced and you don't know who this
- 23:49Speaker 1: Jedi is, You don't know who Yoda is. You just
- 23:51Speaker 1: see this Muppet character. You literally see like a guy
- 23:53Speaker 1: who looks like Kermit the Frog, and he's messing around
- 23:56Speaker 1: with Luke's stuff and he's going through his light you know,
- 23:59Speaker 1: flash and messing around, and then you realize, oh my god,
- 24:03Speaker 1: this guy who's one foot tall, eight hundred years old,
- 24:08Speaker 1: is the most powerful creature in the entire world. So
- 24:10Speaker 1: I think it's just to show that, you know, just
- 24:13Speaker 1: because you're tiny and on the outside, you could be,
- 24:16Speaker 1: you know, the most powerful thing in the world.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Look at me, fot me by my size?
- 24:23Speaker 1: Do you I love that switch? Because he starts off
- 24:26Speaker 1: as that muppet, then you will be you will be.
- 24:29Speaker 1: It's very serious and I just I think that character
- 24:33Speaker 1: is so great, and the puppet work by Frank Oz,
- 24:35Speaker 1: it's just absolutely brilliant stuff.
- 24:38Speaker 5: Did you get pretty excited in the prequels when he
- 24:40Speaker 5: when he just became badass and was fighting.
- 24:43Speaker 1: You know what? Funny story. So I saw Attack of
- 24:46Speaker 1: the Clones in theaters and that's the first time you
- 24:49Speaker 1: really get to see Yoda sort of do stuff like that,
- 24:51Speaker 1: you know, doing the flips and all that. And I
- 24:54Speaker 1: was into it until the audience started laughing. They started
- 24:58Speaker 1: laughing because this little muppet guy is doing flips, you know,
- 25:01Speaker 1: jumping all around, and I'm like, stop laughing, stop laughing. Yeah,
- 25:06Speaker 1: and then looking back at it, looking back at it,
- 25:09Speaker 1: I can actually see why it's funny. It is. It's
- 25:11Speaker 1: too much. It's that's another thing about the original movies. Yet,
- 25:16Speaker 1: the lightsabered battles aren't as crazy. It's not as acrobatic
- 25:21Speaker 1: as what you see in the prequel trilogy. But there's
- 25:23Speaker 1: nothing to those flips. They're just doing flips for the
- 25:26Speaker 1: sake of doing flips, and it's just a cgi monstrosity.
- 25:29Speaker 2: So did you like Baby Yoda, you.
- 25:31Speaker 4: Mean turn Yoda's spoiler alert?
- 25:36Speaker 1: I think that is.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Alert.
- 25:39Speaker 1: That is one of my favorite characters in recent years.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I think the characters adorable. Like every time that characters
- 25:46Speaker 1: on the screen, you can't help but smile. What do
- 25:50Speaker 1: you not like Grogu?
- 25:52Speaker 2: No I do.
- 25:53Speaker 4: I don't even.
- 25:53Speaker 2: I didn't finish watching that, Seriously.
- 25:56Speaker 4: We didn't finish.
- 25:56Speaker 1: It sort of falls off like all things. It starts off,
- 25:59Speaker 1: you're hyped, and then by season three it's just it's
- 26:02Speaker 1: nothing great. Yeah, so let's get to Let's get to
- 26:04Speaker 1: a discussion that me and Stacey had actually on our
- 26:07Speaker 1: morning show. Stacy does the Nasau Morning Madhouse with me,
- 26:11Speaker 1: and we talked about action figures or Stacey likes to
- 26:14Speaker 1: call them figuring figurines, which set me off.
- 26:19Speaker 5: Exactly a figures tourines.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Stacey called them dolls at one point, which is even
- 26:33Speaker 1: more infuriating.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Nick, do you know what action figures are?
- 26:37Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 26:38Speaker 2: What are they?
- 26:40Speaker 1: Into the mic? Nick, I don't know. Well, you play
- 26:43Speaker 1: with toys?
- 26:44Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 26:44Speaker 1: Do you play with Star Wars toys? One one? What
- 26:48Speaker 1: do you got? You got one one? Star Wars toy?
- 26:51Speaker 5: We we we used to have Star Wars figurines.
- 26:58Speaker 4: We used to have the figure.
- 27:00Speaker 5: She used to have Action Rey and uh Kyl Darth
- 27:06Speaker 5: Vader ever had Dart.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Once I stopped.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Playing with them, and we and Count me and Count Duke.
- 27:17Speaker 4: There you got.
- 27:19Speaker 2: So you didn't play with them. I did again.
- 27:27Speaker 4: I had them growing up. Yeah, absolutely, So.
- 27:29Speaker 1: They were a big thing. You know, they changed the
- 27:32Speaker 1: way toys were actually made because really, honestly, before nineteen
- 27:37Speaker 1: seventy seven, uh action figures were kind of like dolls.
- 27:40Speaker 1: There was a company called Migo which made very tall
- 27:43Speaker 1: doll action figures that were like eight inches tall than
- 27:45Speaker 1: the original G I. Joe's were twelve inches. And then
- 27:48Speaker 1: Kenner made these three and three quarter inch action figures
- 27:50Speaker 1: and then pretty much changed the way toys were going
- 27:53Speaker 1: to be made. Throughout the eighties. G I. Joe eventually
- 27:56Speaker 1: made three and three quarter inch figures, and you know,
- 27:59Speaker 1: Star Wars toys were so popular because this movie I
- 28:02Speaker 1: have like the box office numbers printed. I don't want
- 28:05Speaker 1: to bore the kids, but the original Star Wars movie
- 28:08Speaker 1: cost eleven million dollars to make and made seven hundred
- 28:12Speaker 1: and seventy five million dollars. Now that might sound crazy,
- 28:16Speaker 1: just like that, but adjusted to inflation, so basically money
- 28:20Speaker 1: was different in the seventies, so the dollar was worth different.
- 28:23Speaker 1: So in today's day and age, Star Wars would have grossed.
- 28:26Speaker 1: The original Star Wars movie alone would have grossed three
- 28:28Speaker 1: point five billion dollars, which is more than any Avengers movie.
- 28:32Speaker 1: It's more than you know, ninety nine point nine nine
- 28:35Speaker 1: nine percent of movies. It would have been pretty much
- 28:37Speaker 1: the second or third highest grossing movie of all time
- 28:39Speaker 1: adjusted for inflation, and the first time Avatar Avatar is
- 28:44Speaker 1: but adjusted for inflation would be gone with the wind,
- 28:47Speaker 1: which would have made I think close to five billion dollars,
- 28:50Speaker 1: you know, but that's nineteen thirty nine money, so much
- 28:53Speaker 1: different time. But Star Wars was so popular. They didn't
- 28:57Speaker 1: think it was going to be that popular. They had
- 28:58Speaker 1: no toys ready for Christmas, so the movie came out
- 29:01Speaker 1: in May. By the time Christmas season came along, they
- 29:04Speaker 1: had no toys to sell. So instead of giving toys,
- 29:07Speaker 1: they literally gave a piece of cardboard that said you
- 29:10Speaker 1: will be getting toys in a few months, and that
- 29:14Speaker 1: was like the number one selling toy that Christmas was
- 29:17Speaker 1: a piece of cardboard. It's like, so imagine that. Imagine that, guys,
- 29:23Speaker 1: instead of getting a toy on Christmas, Yeah, you just
- 29:26Speaker 1: got a sheet of paper. That said, you're gonna get
- 29:28Speaker 1: a toy eventually, would.
- 29:32Speaker 3: No, I probably would have sued the company.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Well, they didn't know it was going to be this
- 29:36Speaker 1: giant film, and I think kids were actually happy. They
- 29:39Speaker 1: I don't even think they cared that they weren't getting toys.
- 29:41Speaker 1: They were just so excited.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Their friends didn't even get the iou.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. At least I'm getting something in a few months.
- 29:49Speaker 1: So let's talk about if you could be any Star
- 29:52Speaker 1: Wars character. If there was one character, and we're not
- 29:55Speaker 1: talking who your favorite character is. If you could be
- 29:58Speaker 1: any character, who would it be. I'm gonna to start
- 30:00Speaker 1: with my guy job of the Hut, because I think
- 30:03Speaker 1: this guy has the best life. He just sits in
- 30:05Speaker 1: a chair all day, He eats food, He has pretty
- 30:08Speaker 1: girls dancing all around him, he has people serving him.
- 30:12Speaker 1: He gets to watch giant monsters eat people, and he
- 30:15Speaker 1: just gets to chill all day.
- 30:17Speaker 2: You want to watch giant monsters eat people, of course
- 30:19Speaker 2: I do.
- 30:19Speaker 1: You wouldn't want to just sit back, eat some popcorn
- 30:21Speaker 1: and watch a giant monster eat a guy, No, I would.
- 30:25Speaker 2: That's terrible.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I think that's the ultimate life. So if I could
- 30:28Speaker 1: live any Star Wars character's life. It would be job
- 30:30Speaker 1: of the Hut.
- 30:31Speaker 2: He's terrible.
- 30:33Speaker 4: What did you guys think?
- 30:35Speaker 3: Look, Skywalker piz like shame.
- 30:42Speaker 2: We'll have to Like, you want to use the lightsaber
- 30:48Speaker 2: shing him? Is that like when you bash him with
- 30:52Speaker 2: the lightsaber, he's making a slice hand knife slice hand.
- 30:57Speaker 1: You have to get him a lightsaber toy had those two?
- 31:01Speaker 1: What about you, Henry? Is there is there a character
- 31:05Speaker 1: you'd want to be?
- 31:07Speaker 2: Mm hmm Chewbacca, No, I don't want.
- 31:10Speaker 1: You have to shave every day.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Well, I want to be Ray. You want to be
- 31:16Speaker 2: Ray so I can fight good.
- 31:21Speaker 1: This is why we have Stacey. I'm just really profound,
- 31:24Speaker 1: fight good. What about you, Keith? Is there a character
- 31:28Speaker 1: you'd want to be? Is it Landau just a suave
- 31:30Speaker 1: cool dude?
- 31:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean for sure, but maybe uh maybe R
- 31:36Speaker 5: two D two that.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Would be a good lot.
- 31:38Speaker 5: He's kind of feisty, yeah, or maybe Hans Solo. I
- 31:41Speaker 5: mean I like the attitude. Yes, yes, he's kind of
- 31:44Speaker 5: a man's man.
- 31:46Speaker 3: I know what I want.
- 31:47Speaker 1: What do you want to be?
- 31:49Speaker 4: This is when you speak, I want to be He's
- 31:56Speaker 4: literally trying to think of a character.
- 32:00Speaker 1: We can edit all of a sudden.
- 32:03Speaker 3: C three PM.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Oh, it can be best friends with your dad?
- 32:07Speaker 4: Interesting?
- 32:07Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, Usually it's the other way around. Usually I'm
- 32:11Speaker 5: the voice of reason and trying to rain you back in.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Well, I'm gonna go on a bit of a rant,
- 32:16Speaker 1: and Keith, maybe you could join me in this rant.
- 32:18Speaker 1: So I I'm me, Oh, yeah, well you said Ray,
- 32:21Speaker 1: you said you want to be Rayeh. Oh you want
- 32:23Speaker 1: to join in on the rant. You can join in
- 32:25Speaker 1: on the rant. I don't if you're gonna have any idea,
- 32:26Speaker 1: what the heck I'm saying.
- 32:28Speaker 4: Probably ha ha.
- 32:30Speaker 1: So here it is. George Lucas created Star Wars and
- 32:34Speaker 1: he directed the original movie from nineteen seventy seven. He
- 32:38Speaker 1: then wrote the next two movies, but did not direct them.
- 32:42Speaker 1: He was not the director of Empire Strikes Back in
- 32:45Speaker 1: Return of the Jedi. So years go by, and George
- 32:48Speaker 1: Lucas keeps on tinkering with these movies, and he keeps
- 32:51Speaker 1: on adding different elements to it, so he'll, you know,
- 32:54Speaker 1: he'll take away the original actor who played a certain
- 32:58Speaker 1: character in ed a character an actor that portrayed him
- 33:01Speaker 1: in the sequel or prequel trilogy. And he just keeps
- 33:04Speaker 1: on changing little things like, oh, the the Ewoks didn't
- 33:07Speaker 1: blink and Return to the Jedi originally, so now he's
- 33:10Speaker 1: going to digitally make them blink.
- 33:12Speaker 5: So here's a great example of that here. So we
- 33:15Speaker 5: listened to Return of the Jedi a month ago or so,
- 33:19Speaker 5: I remember, and actually.
- 33:21Speaker 4: Made them watch that. I remember that the differences.
- 33:26Speaker 5: Of the song the so and the celebration song.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Rid of It, and and and so I was.
- 33:36Speaker 5: I was excited to see it's been years since I've
- 33:38Speaker 5: seen Return of the Jedi and and uh.
- 33:40Speaker 4: And then I'm I'm like, what the hell is this?
- 33:43Speaker 4: What is going on here?
- 33:44Speaker 5: And so I forced them to watch it, and I
- 33:47Speaker 5: had them watch both, and I said, well, which which
- 33:49Speaker 5: version do you like better?
- 33:50Speaker 4: And the little scoundrels they liked the new version.
- 33:54Speaker 5: So maybe maybe maybe we're just maybe we're just original
- 33:58Speaker 5: as snobs and he actually was making things better.
- 34:02Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna disagree with that. And I will say that
- 34:06Speaker 1: I wouldn't even mind if these new versions were available.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I don't mind it. The fact of the matter is
- 34:11Speaker 1: you cannot get legally the original versions. They're not available anywhere.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Only if you have the original VHS tapes or the
- 34:19Speaker 1: original laser discs, things that are thirty years old. Will
- 34:22Speaker 1: you be able to watch the director's original intention? And
- 34:26Speaker 1: I think that's not right. He didn't even direct those movies,
- 34:29Speaker 1: so he's changing people that don't have a say. You know,
- 34:31Speaker 1: these directors are dead now, so they don't even have
- 34:33Speaker 1: an opportunity to fight that this is my movie. Why
- 34:36Speaker 1: are you doing this?
- 34:37Speaker 5: We need we need Taylor Swift to come up and
- 34:39Speaker 5: buy the original BA save everyone.
- 34:42Speaker 1: We need Irvin's version of Empire Strikes Back exactly. So yeah,
- 34:45Speaker 1: I just I just think it's terrible that, you know,
- 34:48Speaker 1: you're changing somebody that spent their hard time. I mean,
- 34:52Speaker 1: the guy who played these certain characters. They're never going
- 34:55Speaker 1: to be seen again. This might have been their shining moment.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Or a guy who worked on a special effect that
- 35:00Speaker 1: might have been something he talked about for years. Oh,
- 35:02Speaker 1: I did a special effect on Return of the Jedi.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I did the Eyes of the Ewoks, and now they
- 35:07Speaker 1: deleted my work. They deleted my work and there's no
- 35:10Speaker 1: way to find it. So I think George Lucas, who
- 35:12Speaker 1: sold the rights to Disney. Disney needs to release these
- 35:15Speaker 1: original versions of the original trilogy.
- 35:18Speaker 4: To start a petition.
- 35:19Speaker 2: So the current any DVD.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Any DVD, Blu Ray, it's going to be this altered
- 35:25Speaker 1: CGI monstrosity. Huh, it's terrible, exactly right.
- 35:28Speaker 2: So what about people who bought the vhs?
- 35:30Speaker 4: Those are the only ones that are still out there.
- 35:32Speaker 1: That's why I have my original VHS tapes because of
- 35:35Speaker 1: reasons like that. Do you know you never know when
- 35:39Speaker 1: media is going to be altered or taken away. They've
- 35:41Speaker 1: censored a lot of things on different episodes for movies
- 35:44Speaker 1: and TV shows they've gotten rid of on Disney Plus,
- 35:48Speaker 1: there's certain series that they get away episodes that might
- 35:51Speaker 1: be offensive in twenty twenty five, So you never know
- 35:54Speaker 1: when your physical media is going to be needed. Let's
- 35:57Speaker 1: get before we wrap things up, boys, what do you
- 35:59Speaker 1: look looking forward to do the rest of the summer.
- 36:02Speaker 1: You're gonna have the summer. I know you guys are moving.
- 36:04Speaker 1: What are you most looking forward to doing this summer?
- 36:07Speaker 1: Is it the beach? Is it the little pool? Action movies?
- 36:11Speaker 1: Hanging out and just playing video games? Maybe getting the
- 36:13Speaker 1: switch to perhaps no switch to.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Yeah, by the way, they've already started asking me for
- 36:20Speaker 2: a switch to. And you know why because you told
- 36:22Speaker 2: them about it.
- 36:22Speaker 1: I'm going to say for them, I'm gonna say, don't
- 36:25Speaker 1: get it. Don't get the switch to yet, because there's
- 36:29Speaker 1: no good games out for it yet. Think so wait
- 36:32Speaker 1: a while until there's actually something worthwhile getting.
- 36:35Speaker 3: I heard that you could put like the old games
- 36:40Speaker 3: inside then.
- 36:40Speaker 1: And you could, you could, which is nice that there's
- 36:43Speaker 1: backwards compatibility. Except yes, they've changed the graph Yeah, they
- 36:48Speaker 1: did special editions of the video games. So if you
- 36:52Speaker 1: put that, you know, the old version of Mario Odyssey
- 36:55Speaker 1: in your new switch To, it's going to be updated graphics.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I don't know how noticeable it's going to be, but yeah,
- 37:01Speaker 1: it's not noticeable at all. Right, Stacey, we're talking.
- 37:04Speaker 2: To people who grew up on the Nintendos. Like the
- 37:06Speaker 2: graphics you have on the Nintendo Switch are fine.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Yes, and there's a lot of Switch games. I'm sure
- 37:11Speaker 1: you guys haven't played yet from the original Switch. But
- 37:14Speaker 1: what are you guys looking forward to doing this summer?
- 37:15Speaker 1: Do you do you enjoy the summer? Do you enjoy
- 37:17Speaker 1: that you don't gotta go to school anymore for the
- 37:19Speaker 1: next couple of months.
- 37:20Speaker 3: I don't like to go to school.
- 37:22Speaker 1: What about you, Henry?
- 37:23Speaker 3: I'm gonna enjure. I'm gonna enjoy killing for the sun chilling.
- 37:31Speaker 1: What about you, Stacy? You got a hectic life in
- 37:33Speaker 1: the next couple of weeks, right.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah, we have a big summer coming up because we
- 37:36Speaker 2: got a move, which I think is why they're they're
- 37:38Speaker 2: kind of not sure what they're gonna enjoy. They've never
- 37:41Speaker 2: been to where we're going with. You're gonna go to
- 37:43Speaker 2: camp and we're gonna take a little vacation.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Where are you going.
- 37:49Speaker 2: We're gonna go to Keith's hometown and we're gonna go
- 37:53Speaker 2: to Acadia National Park and into Canada. Be fine road up.
- 38:04Speaker 5: It's the modern equivalent of the station wagon. It's a
- 38:07Speaker 5: well group.
- 38:07Speaker 1: It's a pretty cool minivan. I've seen that. You had
- 38:09Speaker 1: to drive me down the block one time.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Justin's written in the minivan it's pretty.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Uh, well, we might have to put to bring the
- 38:15Speaker 4: antlers out for the road.
- 38:16Speaker 1: No, not the ant Hey stop banging over there. It's
- 38:23Speaker 1: Freddy Mercury.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Got a little beat going on, is a little We.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Will rock you. Inconclusion, guys, Okay, now we got the
- 38:30Speaker 1: full Ringo Star band with us.
- 38:33Speaker 2: You should have brought your instruments.
- 38:35Speaker 4: Have serenaded the podcast with your recital.
- 38:40Speaker 1: So what instruments are you guys?
- 38:42Speaker 3: Playing piano? And I'm playing to I learned one in school.
- 38:47Speaker 1: What's the other instrument?
- 38:48Speaker 3: Piano recorder?
- 38:50Speaker 1: Oh, the recording making you do hot cross bonds?
- 38:53Speaker 2: Yeah cross? He brought it home this week, did they?
- 38:59Speaker 4: Stacy's very excited red.
- 39:01Speaker 5: No.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I want to actually ask about gym class, because when
- 39:04Speaker 1: I was growing up, there was dodgeball. Then you always
- 39:06Speaker 1: heard there was no dodgeball. Do you guys, are you
- 39:09Speaker 1: guys allowed to play dodgeball in gym class? No dodgeball?
- 39:14Speaker 1: They played kickball. Did you guys have to do square
- 39:18Speaker 1: dancing in class? We had to do square dancing in
- 39:21Speaker 1: gym class.
- 39:21Speaker 2: I don't remember.
- 39:23Speaker 4: Did you ever have to climb the rope?
- 39:25Speaker 1: Yeah? I obviously couldn't look at my arms.
- 39:28Speaker 2: I remember we had to do aerobics.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Aerobics do for that?
- 39:35Speaker 4: And the smoke cigarettes in the bathroom.
- 39:38Speaker 3: No. Never.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I was the champion of v sit reach, which is
- 39:43Speaker 1: like you bend over and you could stretch. I had
- 39:45Speaker 1: the record, but it was broken every year by a
- 39:48Speaker 1: young lad in the grade below me. So, Sean Burns,
- 39:51Speaker 1: if you're listening stretching contests right.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Now, I never set records in that.
- 39:58Speaker 1: What about you, Keith, I'm sure we were pretty good
- 40:00Speaker 1: with the athletics, right sure? What was Uh, let's get
- 40:04Speaker 1: a little bit about your background, because we got like
- 40:06Speaker 1: ten minutes or so, we had champion and dodgeball or
- 40:13Speaker 1: kickball or I.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Think we did. We did dodgeball back? We did? I
- 40:16Speaker 4: mean I went to a very small school.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Yeah, did you do red rover?
- 40:23Speaker 4: I don't know what that is?
- 40:24Speaker 2: Red rover? Red rover? Let justin come over and it
- 40:26Speaker 2: doesn't have to run and try to break through.
- 40:28Speaker 4: You didn't. I remember it.
- 40:30Speaker 1: I vaguely remember it.
- 40:31Speaker 2: You had a break through the chain of people, just
- 40:34Speaker 2: run through people.
- 40:37Speaker 4: It sounds sounds great. I'm sorry.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I used to play a game on the bus that
- 40:42Speaker 1: would never fly today. There was a red light on
- 40:44Speaker 1: the back of the bus, and the whole object was
- 40:46Speaker 1: you had to touch that red light. But you had
- 40:48Speaker 1: four or five people that were your blockers, and they
- 40:50Speaker 1: just had the body. You would push you and you'd
- 40:53Speaker 1: be climbing over the seats. And you know, I don't
- 40:55Speaker 1: think of today's day and age that would fly. Now.
- 40:58Speaker 1: As far as what you guys are doing in school.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Uh do you find it, you know, to be to
- 41:04Speaker 1: be difficult? I guess with all the technology that's around you.
- 41:08Speaker 1: I know your mom has limited you to cell phone usage,
- 41:11Speaker 1: but do you feel like, you know, having access to
- 41:14Speaker 1: the Internet of the computer, is that something that you
- 41:17Speaker 1: don't like? You wish you maybe grew up in a
- 41:19Speaker 1: time where there wasn't any computers or technology like that.
- 41:24Speaker 4: You do, why because.
- 41:27Speaker 3: Then I wouldn't have to worry about all that stuff,
- 41:29Speaker 3: and I wouldn't have to do typing stuff.
- 41:32Speaker 1: Well, you'd probably have to type on a typewriter, Yeah,
- 41:34Speaker 1: which is probably worse.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Actually harder.
- 41:36Speaker 3: No, No, No, that's what I harder.
- 41:39Speaker 1: All you have to do is keys, But then you
- 41:41Speaker 1: have to if you mess up, you have to use
- 41:42Speaker 1: like white out.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Yeah, you just like basically start over.
- 41:46Speaker 5: And that is tough for kids growing up nowadays. That
- 41:50Speaker 5: you make a mistake. We made lots of mistakes, and
- 41:53Speaker 5: of course, you know, people's memory was about all that
- 41:56Speaker 5: captured it. Now you make you make a mistake, you
- 41:58Speaker 5: say something stupid, and it never goes away. Yeah.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you're seven years old and you say something offensive.
- 42:06Speaker 1: If I use that, you know, fifteen years from now.
- 42:09Speaker 1: It's a wild world we live, and.
- 42:11Speaker 2: They'll never be on social media. It's a smart move,
- 42:14Speaker 2: or have cell phones.
- 42:15Speaker 1: They're never getting a cell phone.
- 42:17Speaker 3: I'm one myself.
- 42:19Speaker 2: There you go.
- 42:19Speaker 5: Man.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Yeah, if I had a cell phone in high school,
- 42:22Speaker 1: oh my god, I would not be allowed here.
- 42:26Speaker 2: I wonder if by the time these two are in
- 42:31Speaker 2: high school, well, I guess high school is still kind
- 42:33Speaker 2: of close for y'all. But I just feel like the
- 42:35Speaker 2: tides starting to turn and people are getting tired of
- 42:37Speaker 2: being online all the time.
- 42:39Speaker 1: It's something I try and limit myself to. If I'm
- 42:42Speaker 1: if I don't have to set an alarm for the
- 42:44Speaker 1: day and I just could wake up, you know, on
- 42:46Speaker 1: a Sunday, I will purposely leave my phone in a
- 42:49Speaker 1: completely different room right at nighttime, so I don't even
- 42:52Speaker 1: have access to it. I don't like being able to
- 42:55Speaker 1: look stuff up constantly, and I like living in the moment,
- 42:58Speaker 1: but it's it's addicting. I mean, it's it's right there
- 43:01Speaker 1: and you can look up anything, but you miss out
- 43:03Speaker 1: on so much if you're just looking down at your phone.
- 43:05Speaker 1: You know, you might miss out. If you're in a
- 43:07Speaker 1: baseball game, a home run or there's a pretty girl,
- 43:10Speaker 1: and you might not see. It's so many different things.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Certain scenes in a movie. You might just be looking down.
- 43:15Speaker 1: You're like, oh, what happened in that movie? You have
- 43:17Speaker 1: to rewind it. It's just terrible.
- 43:19Speaker 5: Yeah, Stacy, I fear you're wrong. I actually think we're
- 43:21Speaker 5: heading in the other direction, towards the Ready Player one. Yeah,
- 43:24Speaker 5: staying a kind of totally immersive.
- 43:26Speaker 1: We're gonna be five hundred pounds in recliners just with
- 43:29Speaker 1: virtual reality not moving.
- 43:32Speaker 2: So that's how the matrix ends up? Yes, yes, so
- 43:35Speaker 2: then we all go to the matrix the end.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Any any final words on the Star Wars podcast or
- 43:40Speaker 1: just life in general, Stacy, I know you have your podcast.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Well that was lovely, Nick Me, Oh that was you.
- 43:48Speaker 1: That was shocking. I thought that would be something Nick
- 43:49Speaker 1: would do. Yeah, let's let's get Stacy some plugs. So
- 43:55Speaker 1: you got the new show coming out? Lovely burp, Nick,
- 43:58Speaker 1: that was solid.
- 43:59Speaker 2: No, you taught you nothing.
- 44:01Speaker 1: You want to hear a real burp?
- 44:03Speaker 5: No?
- 44:03Speaker 1: Why not? We can't purve in front of the kids.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Stop, this is not polite. Do I If we were
- 44:10Speaker 2: at the dinner table, would that be okay?
- 44:12Speaker 3: No?
- 44:12Speaker 2: No, imagine we're at the dinner table.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Stacy, Wow, that wasn't even me.
- 44:19Speaker 2: What Why am I surrounded by boys?
- 44:21Speaker 1: Can I bur? Can I please bur to show these kids?
- 44:26Speaker 2: Can I stop you?
- 44:27Speaker 1: It's your call? They're burping already. So pretend we're.
- 44:31Speaker 2: We're in Charlie the chocolate factory and you drank the
- 44:34Speaker 2: bubble fish.
- 44:41Speaker 1: All right, all right, Stacy, you got the show? You
- 44:48Speaker 1: your new podcast podcast? Explain it and where can people
- 44:51Speaker 1: find it?
- 44:51Speaker 2: It's called tell Me what It's like? And it is extraordinary,
- 44:55Speaker 2: rare and challenging experiences that people come on the show
- 44:58Speaker 2: and tell us about. You can find it on wherever
- 45:01Speaker 2: you get your podcasts.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Now, what about you kids? If you guys were able
- 45:04Speaker 1: to have a show about anything, what would it be?
- 45:06Speaker 1: Would be about Minecraft? Would be about or Star Wars
- 45:10Speaker 1: or playing? What's something you would like to have a
- 45:12Speaker 1: show about? The final one? Why did they started? You started?
- 45:23Speaker 1: How did I started? They started it?
- 45:26Speaker 2: Okay, you're not a chicken. You're not a chicken. Stop cooking.
- 45:30Speaker 3: I'm doing that with my mouth.
- 45:31Speaker 5: By the way, clearly, Stacey and I would never host
- 45:33Speaker 5: a parenting podcast, as you can tell.
- 45:40Speaker 4: That's you guys are rare form.
- 45:52Speaker 1: What about you, Keith, how about you.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Morning Madhouse?
- 45:55Speaker 1: Right, they have more energy than half the crew we have. Keith,
- 45:58Speaker 1: would you have a marine show? Oh what would you?
- 46:00Speaker 1: If you could have a podcast about anything?
- 46:02Speaker 4: I think that'd be fun. Yeah, I think it'd be fun.
- 46:05Speaker 5: It's a talk but but it would have to be
- 46:08Speaker 5: you know, some sort of and this is super random.
- 46:11Speaker 4: There's a there's a comic called Terminal Lance.
- 46:14Speaker 5: It's very you know, kind of inside Marine Corps joke jokes,
- 46:18Speaker 5: uh vet TV. I mean, there there's a lot of
- 46:22Speaker 5: dark and funny, you know, military humor out there.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I think any podcasts there has to be I mean,
- 46:27Speaker 1: there's a podcast for everything, but I'm assuming there's got
- 46:29Speaker 1: to be one just based on military service and and
- 46:33Speaker 1: maybe active military personnel talking about it.
- 46:36Speaker 5: Yeah, there's a whole bunch of them out there. There's
- 46:38Speaker 5: some good ones. The Marine Corps started to do Run
- 46:41Speaker 5: out of Quantico, where it's it's just kind of contemporary issues.
- 46:45Speaker 4: It's it's probably boring for.
- 46:46Speaker 5: The average audience, but but but for you know, for marines.
- 46:50Speaker 5: You know, there's a lot of interesting material in there
- 46:53Speaker 5: about the future of the Marine Corps and leadership.
- 46:56Speaker 4: And uh so there's there's some good stuff out there.
- 46:58Speaker 1: Awesome. Well, maybe Stacey can link you up and you
- 47:01Speaker 1: guys could start a marine podcast on the Stacey Rain Network.
- 47:05Speaker 3: There you go, it's the it's the Rain Media Network.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Actually, actually, all right, any any last words, no burping,
- 47:18Speaker 1: no clucking, no clucking anything.
- 47:22Speaker 3: It's called clicking.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Oh. First of all, all right, boys.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Please don't they need to hear it.
- 47:32Speaker 1: We'll try and edit as best as we can. Stacy,
- 47:34Speaker 1: you'll have to come down and be there for the editing,
- 47:37Speaker 1: but we're gonna head on out of here. Thank you
- 47:38Speaker 1: for listening to this. We gotta go.
- 47:47Speaker 3: Because we're annoying. Well you edit, you ed the we're
