- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites. I'm black Jack Fletcher, and joining
- 0:12Speaker 1: me today is a legendary human being, a man who
- 0:17Speaker 1: needs no introduction, Paula Duca, PAULI, how are we doing
- 0:21Speaker 1: doing well? Black Jack? How are you? I'm spectacular and
- 0:23Speaker 1: also joining us today. Special guest, a man who has
- 0:27Speaker 1: to be rethinking his retirement after all the contracts given
- 0:30Speaker 1: out this week in the NFL. Jeff Schwartz glad to
- 0:33Speaker 1: be here? Am I a special guest to a podcast
- 0:35Speaker 1: that I was previously a big member of? Yep? Sure
- 0:38Speaker 1: are thanks Chad. Thanks just wondering, but I'm glad to
- 0:42Speaker 1: be back. It's glad to talk. It's been fantastic week
- 0:45Speaker 1: of of NFL Action and we have the turn of
- 0:47Speaker 1: it too, which just sweating out conference championship games. As
- 0:50Speaker 1: we record this, we are we're going to dig into
- 0:52Speaker 1: all of that, but first I just want to let
- 0:54Speaker 1: everyone know that the Action Network we're going to be
- 0:57Speaker 1: out in Las Vegas four March Madness. We're to have
- 1:00Speaker 1: a big event on Wednesday night, seven o'clock Pacific time
- 1:04Speaker 1: at Mabel's Barbecue in the Palms Hotel and Casino. Yeah,
- 1:09Speaker 1: you heard that right, Mabel's barbecue at the Palms Wednesday night,
- 1:12Speaker 1: seven o'clock. Paul's going to be there. I'll be there, Chad,
- 1:15Speaker 1: that insufferable nerd Darren will be there, some other people.
- 1:19Speaker 1: So make sure you if you're going to be in
- 1:21Speaker 1: Vegas Wednesday night, make sure you stop on by and
- 1:24Speaker 1: come see us. Paul and I are actually heading back
- 1:27Speaker 1: to Las Vegas on Sunday. We were there last week. Um,
- 1:31Speaker 1: PAULI what do you what do you want to tell
- 1:32Speaker 1: everyone about our trip to Vegas last week? How was it?
- 1:35Speaker 1: It was a bundle of fun, it really was. Um.
- 1:40Speaker 1: A lot of people stare at you with your hat
- 1:43Speaker 1: and your outfit. You got a lot of compliments. Um.
- 1:46Speaker 1: We had a very good first day. We walk over
- 1:50Speaker 1: to the Golden Nugget. We hit a fifty one shot
- 1:52Speaker 1: and the horses were off and rolling and then just
- 1:56Speaker 1: sort of petered out after that. The fund didn't never
- 1:58Speaker 1: petered out. I don't know, but not at all. I
- 2:00Speaker 1: mean I don't know. Like as soon as I step
- 2:04Speaker 1: in in the state of Nevada, I just like to dance.
- 2:08Speaker 1: This son of a bit did not stop dancing anywhere
- 2:13Speaker 1: we went. We would walk by a bar, he would
- 2:15Speaker 1: hear music and literally just dance his way in right
- 2:18Speaker 1: up to the front, just wouldn't stop. There was a
- 2:20Speaker 1: waitress in the Golden Nuggets I think was terrified of you.
- 2:24Speaker 1: She was a tiny bit terrified, but when she saw
- 2:26Speaker 1: me move my hips, I saw her looking from the
- 2:28Speaker 1: corner of her eyes. Then then Paul and I proceed
- 2:32Speaker 1: to drive across Death Valley to l A from Vegas,
- 2:36Speaker 1: and again Paul did not stop singing the entire time.
- 2:41Speaker 1: See here's the thing. Who's the guy that's late, late,
- 2:43Speaker 1: late night, James Cordon? What's his name? Karaoke? I've been
- 2:47Speaker 1: doing chemical karaoke when he was in diapers. Okay, I
- 2:51Speaker 1: did carpoo karaoke like literally when Instagram started, and then
- 2:55Speaker 1: I sort of shut it down because I got pulled
- 2:57Speaker 1: over by a police officer and the police officer said,
- 3:00Speaker 1: what are you doing. I'm like, I'm doing carpool karaoke
- 3:02Speaker 1: and I have a lot of fans I need to
- 3:03Speaker 1: satisfy over here. Okay, why did you just choose the
- 3:06Speaker 1: arbitrary start date of Instagram? I just started singing karaoke.
- 3:12Speaker 1: People love it. If you ever go on on my Instagram,
- 3:18Speaker 1: go ahead, Paul. Sorry, my Mike went out there, Paul.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Mike cut out, Paul, are you I could see you
- 3:25Speaker 1: being like a like an eighties music Steve Perry and
- 3:32Speaker 1: Journey got nothing on me, Oh, Paul. The highlights where
- 3:36Speaker 1: Paul singing his walk up song for his entire career,
- 3:40Speaker 1: which is a BIG's song, staying Alive um. And then
- 3:45Speaker 1: we were I don't know if you've ever done that drive,
- 3:46Speaker 1: Jeff from Vegas to l A. But at one point
- 3:50Speaker 1: you kind of turn a corner and you're just like
- 3:52Speaker 1: flying down the side of a mountain and it's a
- 3:53Speaker 1: real steep grade. And that's when Paul chose to sing
- 3:58Speaker 1: It's all coming back to me now by Lean Beyond.
- 4:01Speaker 1: And I don't know, I really must have liked it,
- 4:03Speaker 1: because I just found myself dropping the pedal to the
- 4:05Speaker 1: floor and we were flying down that mountain like eighty
- 4:08Speaker 1: miles an hour. Just just blazon. If that that can
- 4:13Speaker 1: be it, That can be a a fun drive. Well not,
- 4:16Speaker 1: it's not really fun. It could be a fast drive,
- 4:17Speaker 1: or can be one accident and be the worst drive
- 4:20Speaker 1: of your life. It is true, it wasn't too bad.
- 4:23Speaker 1: We we did pretty well until we got to l A.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But Paul and I will be out in Vegas starting
- 4:29Speaker 1: on St. Patrick's Day and we'll be out there for
- 4:31Speaker 1: eight days. So uh, if any of you guys are
- 4:34Speaker 1: out there, hit us up, we'd we'd love to meet
- 4:36Speaker 1: up with you. And if you wanted any request, it's
- 4:38Speaker 1: lean Dion is not my only Whitney's out there too,
- 4:41Speaker 1: so like if you want any request of me singing
- 4:45Speaker 1: with Black because I see I am very sports you.
- 4:47Speaker 1: The best part about it is all the videos that
- 4:50Speaker 1: I made. I'm embarrassing the hell out of no, Paul.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Someone had to drive the goddamn car, like someone had
- 4:57Speaker 1: to make sure we didn't die. You were going to
- 5:00Speaker 1: There's only one way, you know. You gotta learn how
- 5:02Speaker 1: to drive when the guy's been entertaining you. And I've
- 5:05Speaker 1: driven with you before and that's why I drove this time.
- 5:08Speaker 1: When I'm taking the role as the designated driver, there's
- 5:10Speaker 1: a problem. But I've driven with you, and you're one
- 5:14Speaker 1: road rage incident after another. I'm not a road rage.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I drive like a New Yorker, which is normal. Paul.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I was on the phone with you. Jeff. I was
- 5:21Speaker 1: on the phone with him when he was in Saratoga
- 5:23Speaker 1: and he got into an argument with another driver and
- 5:26Speaker 1: literally put the phone down and got out of the
- 5:28Speaker 1: car to get into a confrontation. Sometimes you need to
- 5:30Speaker 1: make a point. He's a wild driver. When we were
- 5:36Speaker 1: at the Breeders Cup in Kentucky, He's just screaming at people.
- 5:39Speaker 1: I'm from New York. Get out of the way. Did
- 5:42Speaker 1: they get out of the way? Not really, Paul. Then
- 5:45Speaker 1: I ran over him. I'm sorry. Did we have a
- 5:46Speaker 1: good parket spot? We did? Was accomplished. Did we get arrested? No, no,
- 5:53Speaker 1: we didn't. It was a good day. All right. Let's
- 5:58Speaker 1: get into a little bit about what's been going on
- 6:01Speaker 1: in the NFL, uh Jeff. Obviously Odell Beckham is the
- 6:06Speaker 1: big news over the last forty eight hours, traded by
- 6:09Speaker 1: the Giants over to the Cleveland Browns. What what are
- 6:11Speaker 1: your initial thoughts on that? Well, for the Browns is awesome.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I think they gave up obviously at first a third
- 6:18Speaker 1: and starting safety and Jabril Peppers. You added him in
- 6:21Speaker 1: with Landry who they're best friends. You just more weapons
- 6:24Speaker 1: for Baker Mayfield are great. The Giants, I have no
- 6:27Speaker 1: idea what they're doing. They seem to be rebuilding around
- 6:30Speaker 1: a third eight year quarterback, which makes no sense whatsoever.
- 6:34Speaker 1: What the Giants should have done. This gonna haunt them
- 6:36Speaker 1: for fifteen years because Sam Donald shares their stadium with them.
- 6:39Speaker 1: They should have drafted Sam Donald last year at two,
- 6:42Speaker 1: drafted a pass rusher this year at six, and kept
- 6:44Speaker 1: Odell Beckham, or don't keep Odell Beckham, don't sign them
- 6:47Speaker 1: last year, just full rebuild instead of drafting Sae Kawon Barkley,
- 6:52Speaker 1: having Eli Manning and then taking I don't know, a
- 6:54Speaker 1: quarterback and six. I don't think they're even beholding taking quarterbacks.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I think they're gonna take best player available. It's it's
- 7:00Speaker 1: I don't understand it. You know, they're an organization that
- 7:03Speaker 1: forever was just run so well, and they have forgotten
- 7:08Speaker 1: how to run an organization. Yeah them, No, they did not.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I just I don't understand the thinking of whether it's
- 7:17Speaker 1: this year or next you're going to have to bring
- 7:19Speaker 1: in a young quarterback and taking away one of the
- 7:22Speaker 1: best weapons in football that you could possibly give a
- 7:25Speaker 1: young quarterback. I mean, it just doesn't make any sense.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I understand the idea by the way of getting rid
- 7:33Speaker 1: of a wide receiver if you're rebuilding, I understand that.
- 7:35Speaker 1: That to me makes total sense because a lot of
- 7:38Speaker 1: teams should do that wide receivers and is a bonus
- 7:41Speaker 1: right you need to have you need the other pieces
- 7:43Speaker 1: in place. The problem is that other pieces aren't in place.
- 7:46Speaker 1: So so you know, I get why they got rid
- 7:50Speaker 1: of him. But again, he's a playmaker and if you're
- 7:52Speaker 1: gonna bring a young quarterback, you must we'll have him
- 7:54Speaker 1: there for for him. Yeah, I agree. So there's a
- 7:57Speaker 1: lot of Odell Beckham props Jeff about whether he will
- 8:01Speaker 1: lead the league in receiving yards, touchdowns, receptions, which one
- 8:05Speaker 1: of these props kind of piques your interest a little bit.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So I think over eleven hundred yards, I think this
- 8:11Speaker 1: this morning on I'll take that bet. If you look
- 8:13Speaker 1: at his first three years, he had over thirteen hundred
- 8:15Speaker 1: yards first three years. Now remember they didn't you know,
- 8:20Speaker 1: they didn't have anyone else to throw to. I was
- 8:21Speaker 1: there for two of those years. Um, the last two
- 8:24Speaker 1: years he has not been that mark because he's been injured.
- 8:26Speaker 1: So two years ago he missed most of the whole year.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Last year played twelve games but had almost eleven hundred yards.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I think he just gets eleven hundred yards he's a playmaker.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Think about this. He takes short passes to the house
- 8:37Speaker 1: seven yard, ten yards, slant route goes, goes, goes sixty yards.
- 8:40Speaker 1: He doesn't need to be catching long bombs to make
- 8:43Speaker 1: this happen. So I think that's a big part of
- 8:44Speaker 1: this is that the ability for him to take short
- 8:48Speaker 1: passes in this offense and go deep. I like over
- 8:51Speaker 1: a hundred yards. Yeah, I like the over eight and
- 8:53Speaker 1: a half touchdowns to his total this past season was
- 8:56Speaker 1: seven and a half. And I think that Baker Mayfield
- 8:59Speaker 1: is gonna love having him in the red zone. I mean,
- 9:02Speaker 1: he's that big bodied guy that you just throw it
- 9:05Speaker 1: up to. I mean, he's He's gonna make life just
- 9:08Speaker 1: so much easier for Baker Mayfield when when they get
- 9:11Speaker 1: close to the end zone he is and and you know,
- 9:15Speaker 1: the one question is is do you think that the
- 9:18Speaker 1: yards will have to be split up between Landry and
- 9:20Speaker 1: the Joku and Chubb and all the guys they have
- 9:23Speaker 1: and maybe he doesn't get a little I think that
- 9:25Speaker 1: could be concerned. But again, I think if you're choosing
- 9:29Speaker 1: one prop pro debt over the eleven yard, because he
- 9:31Speaker 1: shouldn't be he should not be injured three years in
- 9:33Speaker 1: a row, right, PAULI what what what prop do you
- 9:35Speaker 1: like about this? I liked the over eleven yards as well.
- 9:40Speaker 1: When he was in New York, he was really their
- 9:43Speaker 1: only option. So now with multiple options, and I think
- 9:46Speaker 1: Jeff makes it a very key point. Listen, he went
- 9:49Speaker 1: to college with Landry. I mean they were best friends,
- 9:52Speaker 1: and it seemed like he was like a little bit
- 9:55Speaker 1: tiny bit lost maybe in New York, like sometimes he
- 9:59Speaker 1: did want to be there. He's got that little bipolar
- 10:02Speaker 1: personality every once in a while, so you don't really
- 10:04Speaker 1: know where he sits. And you know, now he's got
- 10:07Speaker 1: his best friend he can go play with in Javar,
- 10:09Speaker 1: who's a very quality receiver as well. I mean, excuse me, uh,
- 10:16Speaker 1: what's his first name? Joe Farr? That's what I said.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Are you guys deaf? His name is not Javar? What's
- 10:25Speaker 1: his name? Oh? Jarvis? Like, what do you like? I
- 10:29Speaker 1: was like Jaffar from the latter You know my phone?
- 10:33Speaker 1: I haven't a jar on my phone? That's why you haven't. Yeah,
- 10:39Speaker 1: what do you mean? Where do you? Where do you
- 10:41Speaker 1: you tucked out jar of like you've notes? No, I'm
- 10:45Speaker 1: just telling you that Odell Beckham is gonna go over
- 10:48Speaker 1: a level. Yeah, that's all I'm saying. He's the thing.
- 10:54Speaker 1: My point is we're talking about if we're going to
- 10:58Speaker 1: talk about that him, right and obviously we're gonna talk
- 11:01Speaker 1: about Bell in Antonio Brown. Are they three of the
- 11:05Speaker 1: biggest clowns in all of football? I'm gonna ask you
- 11:09Speaker 1: that question, Jeff, Why are those three guys well? Jeff Levian?
- 11:13Speaker 1: Jeff Levian Bell went to Twitter, hold on, hold on, Paul.
- 11:16Speaker 1: But off of that question, Jeff, you just said that
- 11:18Speaker 1: you played with Odell Beckham for two years. What kind
- 11:21Speaker 1: of a teammate is he? Because we hear all this
- 11:22Speaker 1: stuff that you know he's a problem, and honestly, it
- 11:25Speaker 1: sounds like a lot of nonsense that people are complaining
- 11:27Speaker 1: about in the media. How was he in the locker room?
- 11:30Speaker 1: This is a great teammate. Um. This is why I'm
- 11:32Speaker 1: not concerned about most of what's happening with with their
- 11:36Speaker 1: talking about him being a distraction. That's why he went
- 11:38Speaker 1: to Cleveland. He's gonna be distraction Cleveland. I don't think
- 11:40Speaker 1: that at all. I think the Giants vet him as
- 11:42Speaker 1: a distraction for whatever reason. Pat Sherman did not get
- 11:44Speaker 1: along with Odell. I don't know what that was. Um,
- 11:47Speaker 1: he's great in the locker room, is a good leader guys,
- 11:50Speaker 1: lovely works his tail off. You know they talk about
- 11:52Speaker 1: the passion, Yeah, I mean look, yeah, theresicularle overboard. What
- 11:56Speaker 1: would I prefer that a player of mine if I
- 11:58Speaker 1: was an ownershipper and coaching to not proposed or kicking net,
- 12:01Speaker 1: yeah I would. But wide receivers are in a position
- 12:05Speaker 1: where it's very mean centric, right, you have to win
- 12:07Speaker 1: one on one battles all the time, and yes, there's
- 12:11Speaker 1: gonna be more mean centric than other players on the
- 12:13Speaker 1: football fields. I'm fine with his at because he comes
- 12:15Speaker 1: to play on Sundays. I get it that he comes
- 12:18Speaker 1: to play. But listen to me as a coach and
- 12:20Speaker 1: you've been on the field, I don't care how big
- 12:22Speaker 1: of a dick you are. When you're the best player
- 12:24Speaker 1: they had, coaches, you have to get along with him.
- 12:26Speaker 1: You have to. The reason where you gave it a chance,
- 12:30Speaker 1: gave him even a chance to get along. You have to,
- 12:34Speaker 1: even if you hate the guy. The manager has to
- 12:36Speaker 1: get along with your best player. And that was the
- 12:39Speaker 1: problem in New York the whole time with Beckham and
- 12:41Speaker 1: he did stupid stuff on the sideline, like kicking nets.
- 12:43Speaker 1: He did just stupid stuff that projected him as being
- 12:45Speaker 1: a problem. And the worry is is you're right, Shermer. Listen, Okay,
- 12:51Speaker 1: you don't like the guy. You don't like the guy,
- 12:52Speaker 1: but for you to win, he needs to succeed. And
- 12:56Speaker 1: you can already tell the Odell Beckham is a guy
- 12:59Speaker 1: that listens to in the media. He is a guy
- 13:01Speaker 1: that is very sensitive. So if you don't like him,
- 13:05Speaker 1: screw you. That's the way. Did you ever not get
- 13:07Speaker 1: along with the manager? Yes, of course, Jack mc can is.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I love Jack as a person. Worst manager I ever
- 13:15Speaker 1: played for. I don't still don't know how he won
- 13:17Speaker 1: a championship. He didn't even know your name. He know
- 13:20Speaker 1: he called me to Luca. I didn't even know my name.
- 13:24Speaker 1: What about Davy Johnson? Davy Johnson was the best manager
- 13:28Speaker 1: I played for, But he hated me. Why do you
- 13:30Speaker 1: hate you? I don't know. I remember who could hit you? No?
- 13:34Speaker 1: I remember in Philadelphia, I was played a game like.
- 13:38Speaker 1: He played me like onervery I made the team that
- 13:41Speaker 1: spring training. He played me like once every twenty days.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I saw him in Philadelphia, and I had a bad game,
- 13:46Speaker 1: and then I played two games in a row because
- 13:50Speaker 1: Hunley was hurt. And then I went like, oh for
- 13:52Speaker 1: eight and struggled, and he just came to the to
- 13:55Speaker 1: the hotel bar and I was sitting there with Hunley
- 13:58Speaker 1: and he just came up to me and bought me
- 14:00Speaker 1: a shot and goes, you suck. You need to be
- 14:02Speaker 1: drunk better. Little did he know that was gonna be
- 14:06Speaker 1: a trend. Alright, So, um Paul mentioned Levyan Bell and
- 14:11Speaker 1: Antonio Brown, and we'll get to individual props on them
- 14:14Speaker 1: in a minute. But Jeff, is something I want to
- 14:16Speaker 1: ask you about because I'm looking at it and I
- 14:18Speaker 1: just can't believe it. The a f C North Division futures,
- 14:23Speaker 1: the Cleveland Browns are favorite at plus one, the Steelers
- 14:27Speaker 1: are plus two fifty, the Ravens at plus two seventy five,
- 14:30Speaker 1: and the Bengals at plus eight hundred. Where are you
- 14:33Speaker 1: putting your money on the a f C North teams
- 14:36Speaker 1: to start this season? This is absolutely wild. The answer
- 14:40Speaker 1: is the Pittsburgh Steelers at plus two fifty. I kind
- 14:42Speaker 1: of agree with you, this is crazy. Think about this.
- 14:44Speaker 1: In the NFL, we we use all the time, right,
- 14:46Speaker 1: the winner of March we assume will be the winner
- 14:50Speaker 1: come January. It almost never happens that way. Are the
- 14:53Speaker 1: Browns talented, Yes, they would are talented. I'll give him that.
- 14:57Speaker 1: John Dorseyson a great job. However, the have a second
- 15:00Speaker 1: year quarterback. They have to pull his personalities together. They
- 15:04Speaker 1: have a new a new UH defensive corner. And most important,
- 15:07Speaker 1: Freddy Kitchens is the new head coach. He's never been
- 15:10Speaker 1: a head coach. He's only been accordinator for like eight
- 15:12Speaker 1: games on a team that was they had no pressure whatsoever.
- 15:16Speaker 1: The pressure is all on Freddie Kitches. Now remember this too,
- 15:19Speaker 1: this is important. I think no one was trying to
- 15:23Speaker 1: hire him. Okay, I don't think the Browns even wanted
- 15:26Speaker 1: him to be the head coach. He just was kind
- 15:28Speaker 1: of there after everything all of dust settled, like no
- 15:31Speaker 1: one even interviewed him. And I I don't think so
- 15:33Speaker 1: to be the head coach of any other job. But
- 15:35Speaker 1: the Browns hired to be their head coach. And let's
- 15:37Speaker 1: let's pump the brakes the Steelers, by the way, where
- 15:39Speaker 1: we're ninth and overall d v O A last year.
- 15:42Speaker 1: That's without leaving on Bell and Antonio Brown was obviously there.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Juju is still there. James Washington play wide receiver. They
- 15:47Speaker 1: lose their tight end, that's a that's a concern. Offensive
- 15:50Speaker 1: line is still good, but their defense improved throughout the year.
- 15:53Speaker 1: So I think it's wild to you you will not
- 15:55Speaker 1: find better value on on Pittsburgh than you have now. Also,
- 15:58Speaker 1: the Steelers have have maybe the best offensive line in football. Now, Paul,
- 16:03Speaker 1: I heard you grunting a minute ago. What what are
- 16:05Speaker 1: your thoughts on the A F C. North Well, I mean,
- 16:08Speaker 1: you look at Baltimore, Okay, what's the Lamar Lamar Jackson's
- 16:11Speaker 1: experiment is is that gonna roll over the year two?
- 16:14Speaker 1: Or team is going to figure that out quickly. But
- 16:17Speaker 1: Baltimore still is going to have a solid, solid defense.
- 16:21Speaker 1: So I'm with both of you, guys. I think Pittsburgh
- 16:23Speaker 1: is the play in here. Um. I truly think since
- 16:27Speaker 1: the Antonio Brown Facebook thing a while ago, he's just
- 16:30Speaker 1: been a guy in that locker room that yes, he's
- 16:33Speaker 1: been the best player, but good riddance. It was good
- 16:36Speaker 1: riddance with bell Um midway through the season, and now
- 16:39Speaker 1: they can just sit there and play football instead of
- 16:41Speaker 1: worrying about all this other stuff. And I get it.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Cleveland did get better. But again, losing has been a
- 16:48Speaker 1: disease in Cleveland and until they win, my money is
- 16:51Speaker 1: not going there. And you know, something else to talk
- 16:53Speaker 1: about with the Steelers is they've been a team that's
- 16:56Speaker 1: been an underperforming team when they've been favored most years.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I think you're gonna see Pittsburgh this year kind of doubted.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I think they're gonna be questioned and I think that's
- 17:04Speaker 1: going to motivate them a little bit. Totally agree. Alright,
- 17:07Speaker 1: so let's talk a little bit about Levian Bell. Obviously,
- 17:10Speaker 1: he signs with the Jets, uh sixty one million dollar
- 17:14Speaker 1: deal with the Jets. There are props on his rushing yards,
- 17:18Speaker 1: receiving yards, and touchdowns out there. I personally like the
- 17:22Speaker 1: prop that he's gonna go over six hundred and a
- 17:24Speaker 1: half receiving yards because I think he's the safety valve
- 17:27Speaker 1: for Sam Donald that he's been missing. Um, he's a
- 17:30Speaker 1: really good pass catcher out of the backfield. He can
- 17:33Speaker 1: line up at wide receiver. I don't know about yards
- 17:35Speaker 1: on the ground, but I think he does go over
- 17:36Speaker 1: six hundred receiving Jeff, what do you think about Levian Bell?
- 17:41Speaker 1: So I like this play because I think you'll have
- 17:44Speaker 1: more of an impact in the receiving game than than
- 17:46Speaker 1: than the rushing game. For for a couple of ways. One, Um,
- 17:50Speaker 1: I do think to your point that he would be
- 17:51Speaker 1: used as a blanket for you know, they'll screen pass something,
- 17:54Speaker 1: They'll use a lot of interesting ways to get him
- 17:56Speaker 1: into the offense. But secondly, a more important he has
- 17:59Speaker 1: a very unique style of Russian the football. Right. He
- 18:03Speaker 1: kind of hides behind the big offensive line that that
- 18:05Speaker 1: Pittsburgh had, the big old guys, and they run a
- 18:07Speaker 1: lot of players. They go vertically right, they go up
- 18:09Speaker 1: the field right away, Um, and he's able to hide
- 18:12Speaker 1: behind those big guys, find a scene and then go
- 18:15Speaker 1: adam gaze the the the Jets head coach, well, they
- 18:18Speaker 1: run some of those same plays. He's more of a
- 18:20Speaker 1: zone a zone run scheme. He's more diverse run scheme
- 18:23Speaker 1: and labland Bell. I don't know if he's good in
- 18:26Speaker 1: that because that's more of a one cut and go.
- 18:29Speaker 1: You know, you can't dance behind a line of scrimmage
- 18:31Speaker 1: and and and go because the backs has not blocked
- 18:34Speaker 1: very well and there's a tiny element to it. So
- 18:36Speaker 1: I do wonder if, um, that that's gonna be something
- 18:42Speaker 1: that takes a little bit of time to work out.
- 18:44Speaker 1: So I'm interested to see how that plays out throughout
- 18:46Speaker 1: the season. Polly, what do you what do you got
- 18:50Speaker 1: on the Olavian Bell props? I'm with you on the
- 18:52Speaker 1: receiving yards. Um. I'm glad that he took the Twitter
- 18:57Speaker 1: to like, really go, oh my god, so many decisions
- 19:01Speaker 1: I gotta make. It was one team he was. That
- 19:04Speaker 1: was all media hype to get him more attention. That
- 19:06Speaker 1: was that was a joe. No one was trying to
- 19:08Speaker 1: sign him. That was a joke. That was for you
- 19:11Speaker 1: to go to Twitter and put that out there. Clown
- 19:13Speaker 1: clown status already. So but I will give him this.
- 19:18Speaker 1: He chose not to shy away from the biggest city
- 19:21Speaker 1: in the world, so he's going to New York. I'll
- 19:23Speaker 1: give him that. There's gonna be a lot more people
- 19:25Speaker 1: in his locker room, and the expectations are going to
- 19:27Speaker 1: be giant. Listen, New York fans want to win now,
- 19:30Speaker 1: especially with Beckham gone. Um at the other side of
- 19:34Speaker 1: the locker room, a lot of Jet fans are hyped.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I think they're gonna win this division now, and that's
- 19:39Speaker 1: the way they Jet and met fans work. When they
- 19:42Speaker 1: get something like that, they're like, oh, World Series or championship.
- 19:45Speaker 1: There there's knee jerk reaction. Um does he make them better?
- 19:49Speaker 1: Of course, But I still think he's gonna catch a
- 19:53Speaker 1: lot of balls out of the backfield. And I'm with you.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I think he's gonna be Darnau's safety valve all year.
- 20:00Speaker 1: All right, So that those are a levy on bell props, Paul,
- 20:04Speaker 1: you brought up Antonio Brown before obviously he's traded to
- 20:07Speaker 1: the Raiders. Jeff. First, before we get to the props,
- 20:09Speaker 1: let me ask you, what do you think about what
- 20:10Speaker 1: Pittsburgh got back for him? I mean a third and
- 20:12Speaker 1: a fifth. It feels like very little for a guy
- 20:16Speaker 1: who's been the best wide receiver in football for the
- 20:18Speaker 1: last you know, four or five years. A couple of
- 20:21Speaker 1: things here is the general public way over values wide
- 20:25Speaker 1: receivers compared to the National Football League values in that. Okay,
- 20:29Speaker 1: I do think it's interesting here. I wonder if Antonio
- 20:32Speaker 1: Brown was kind of playing up the craziness because as
- 20:35Speaker 1: soon as he got as soon as he was traded,
- 20:36Speaker 1: he got rid of the blood mustache, he cleaned up, right,
- 20:39Speaker 1: he got he looked like he well he definitely his
- 20:41Speaker 1: facial hair. I think he got a haircut to like.
- 20:43Speaker 1: He looks clean, looks well put together. He might just
- 20:46Speaker 1: been like playing everybody, but I think that his trade
- 20:48Speaker 1: value was so um low because of the added contract
- 20:53Speaker 1: and centive. So not only were you getting Antonio Brown,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you have to pay him more money and a lot
- 20:57Speaker 1: of teams were not willing to give that extra deal.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yeah what what what'll trade for you? Sure we're not
- 21:03Speaker 1: giving you extra money. So I think that was a
- 21:04Speaker 1: big part of this too, is that, uh, the value
- 21:08Speaker 1: of trading for a player like him in his thirties,
- 21:11Speaker 1: plus the contract demands made it so that teams were
- 21:14Speaker 1: just not looking forward to to pay in the play
- 21:17Speaker 1: And that's why you got him for three and five. Now.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I mean, listen, Oakland has been easy to kind of
- 21:23Speaker 1: mock over the last you know year, But I mean
- 21:26Speaker 1: essentially they turned to Marie Cooper into a first round
- 21:29Speaker 1: pick and Antonio Brown. I mean I got a hard
- 21:32Speaker 1: time criticizing that. I'm not sure that's a fair comparison
- 21:36Speaker 1: because when they traded Mary Cooper, which was a good
- 21:38Speaker 1: deal for them at the time, there was no thought
- 21:41Speaker 1: of Antonio Brown. Right. The question The thing I have
- 21:44Speaker 1: about this, though, is that you said you had a
- 21:46Speaker 1: plan of rebuilding. Well, this is not a plan of rebuilding.
- 21:49Speaker 1: What you should have done is you should have paid
- 21:51Speaker 1: a Mark Cooper and pay Cleo Mack and you'd have
- 21:53Speaker 1: a difference maker at defensive end, a premium position National
- 21:56Speaker 1: Football League, and a young wide receiver who we saw
- 21:58Speaker 1: in Dallas was much better as a player than he
- 22:01Speaker 1: was in Oakland. So I don't I don't know if
- 22:04Speaker 1: if it's I like what they did, but it's not
- 22:06Speaker 1: really an apples to apples upgrade because they came about
- 22:10Speaker 1: it two different ways. Like you can't say that that
- 22:12Speaker 1: they got you know, they basically traded Mark Cooper to
- 22:15Speaker 1: get Antonio Brown. Those are two separate transactions and and
- 22:19Speaker 1: they kind of and they kind of contradict each other
- 22:23Speaker 1: because one of them is more of like, Okay, we're
- 22:25Speaker 1: going with youth and where rebuildly don't want to pay
- 22:27Speaker 1: our guy to like, well, never mind, we're gonna go
- 22:29Speaker 1: ahead and get Antonio Brown. Now, Okay, Antonio Brown ever
- 22:32Speaker 1: hugged Ben Roethlisberger like he hugged Derek Carr. I don't
- 22:38Speaker 1: wn watch the press conference. What do you mean he
- 22:41Speaker 1: went to Derek Carr's house personally and give him a
- 22:43Speaker 1: giant hug Twitter. Derek Carr blocked you on what are
- 22:48Speaker 1: you too talking about? What do you mean? Derek Carr's
- 22:52Speaker 1: house last yesterday and gave him a hug. Do you
- 22:54Speaker 1: are you on social media? All right? I'm looking at
- 22:57Speaker 1: the picture right now. Yes, that that that's a pretty
- 22:59Speaker 1: big brace. It's a It's a huge embrace. It's like
- 23:02Speaker 1: when you and I see each other in the airport
- 23:04Speaker 1: in Vegas, ball exactly. I love you that much, but
- 23:07Speaker 1: their pants are on right, Fuck you, Jeff. The best
- 23:15Speaker 1: part about I mean these podcasts, by the way, is
- 23:16Speaker 1: Matt laughing at the background. It's by far chuckling about
- 23:20Speaker 1: the best thing. I texted Matt like once a week.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I like, dude, you're laughed. This week is outstanding. Um,
- 23:27Speaker 1: how much for a naked dance on Fremont during March Madness?
- 23:30Speaker 1: Polly Nolly would do it, though, brother the first the
- 23:37Speaker 1: minute he stepped out of the hotel onto Fremont Street,
- 23:40Speaker 1: he heard the music and just started dancing immediately. I
- 23:44Speaker 1: think he wants to go over to the Chippendales. I
- 23:47Speaker 1: put on a show. I mean, you haven't seen anybody
- 23:49Speaker 1: pull shapes like that in a while, Polly. If you
- 23:54Speaker 1: were both you guys, So if you were staying next
- 23:57Speaker 1: to my wife and she's playing blackjacket she hit on
- 24:01Speaker 1: a hard sixteen um with a dealer showing a five,
- 24:04Speaker 1: what would your reaction be? I would not just leave
- 24:09Speaker 1: the table? Well, she actually she actually she actually doubled
- 24:12Speaker 1: down um because the last time was in Vegas was
- 24:17Speaker 1: like a weekend before you guys, and we're all, here's
- 24:19Speaker 1: the deal. Are you standing over her? She by herself, No,
- 24:22Speaker 1: I'm was sitting next to her. I was out of
- 24:24Speaker 1: I had the worst table in gambling and it was
- 24:27Speaker 1: a five dollar table, and she wants she knew she's
- 24:29Speaker 1: a bad gambler, so she's like, I want to go
- 24:31Speaker 1: play cheap table. So we left the Cosmo, went to Freemont,
- 24:33Speaker 1: who actually went to the We went to elk Cortez
- 24:35Speaker 1: and then went to the Freemont and we're gambling there
- 24:37Speaker 1: for three hours and she was just playing with five
- 24:39Speaker 1: dollars a hand, and then eventually I was out of
- 24:43Speaker 1: money and she hit on a She doubled down on
- 24:45Speaker 1: a hard sixteen with dealer showing a five, and she
- 24:48Speaker 1: got a four and then won the hand and I
- 24:52Speaker 1: turned to someone next to me and said, did that
- 24:54Speaker 1: really happen? And they said yes, And I want to
- 24:56Speaker 1: get a drink afterwards. I don't drink, and actually her
- 25:00Speaker 1: gambling forced me to have a drink that night. I
- 25:02Speaker 1: don't drink either. What do you mean you don't drink?
- 25:06Speaker 1: We drank every night we were in Las Vegas. Oh, yes,
- 25:10Speaker 1: we're is good. It's good for after you work out.
- 25:13Speaker 1: And need to know that. Like a lot of body
- 25:15Speaker 1: builders used that they did to drink beer after they
- 25:17Speaker 1: work out. That's the Irish fighters used to do. But
- 25:19Speaker 1: in the fifteen hundreds, that's what I was doing. But
- 25:22Speaker 1: they didn't know anything about like nutrition or anything. It
- 25:25Speaker 1: was hundreds. I've been and in ventice and I promise
- 25:31Speaker 1: you they're not drinking beer after that. They let me
- 25:33Speaker 1: tell you something. You guys need to start googling this stuff.
- 25:36Speaker 1: I was working on in my room going down to
- 25:38Speaker 1: the bar and getting beer because beer brings me I
- 25:41Speaker 1: need to put weight on muscle. It's like what they
- 25:43Speaker 1: used to do back in the day. It's like a
- 25:45Speaker 1: new thing. It's a new thing, but it's what they
- 25:48Speaker 1: did in the hundreds. A buddy of mine who is reading,
- 25:56Speaker 1: I had lunch with him yesterday. He said, well, he
- 25:58Speaker 1: was playing. He's lost like a bunch of weight. They
- 26:00Speaker 1: said he was playing. He had had two two thousand
- 26:03Speaker 1: calorie shakes the day to keep his weight up. I
- 26:07Speaker 1: can't believe it. I used to go to spring training
- 26:08Speaker 1: and about that problem two and then come home at
- 26:11Speaker 1: like one. You weren't drinking enough beer. No, I drink
- 26:16Speaker 1: a lot of beer. But the problem is, he's just
- 26:18Speaker 1: when you're catching a hundred forty games, you just you
- 26:21Speaker 1: can't keep the weight on. You just can't. It's impossible,
- 26:24Speaker 1: all right. So, um, let's move on to Nick Foles. Uh.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Nick Foles signs with the Jaguars. Uh. We've got three
- 26:31Speaker 1: props on him over under twelve and a half interceptions,
- 26:34Speaker 1: over under thirty five hundred and a half yards, and
- 26:37Speaker 1: over under twenty one and a half touchdown passes. Jeff,
- 26:40Speaker 1: any of these intrigue you, I think under twelve and
- 26:42Speaker 1: a half interceptions, I mean you brought him in to
- 26:45Speaker 1: not throw interceptions. Otherwise you just so I kept Bortles
- 26:47Speaker 1: in there. Um, I do not think that Nick Foles
- 26:50Speaker 1: is going to be the same player he was in Philly,
- 26:53Speaker 1: but you brought him in there for that exact purpose.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And remember the last time he was a full time
- 26:57Speaker 1: started going through two interceptions in the year. Now, that's
- 27:00Speaker 1: different offense, obviously, but I think I think you're looking
- 27:03Speaker 1: at a quarterback they'll throw under twelve interceptions. Mm hmm.
- 27:09Speaker 1: It is to me this is sort of a double
- 27:10Speaker 1: edged sword, right. You bring in a guy um to
- 27:13Speaker 1: get rid of Blake Bortles where everybody's been wanting to
- 27:16Speaker 1: get rid of forever. And why because Blake Bortles makes
- 27:19Speaker 1: so many mistakes. But what is Nick Foles. He's somewhat
- 27:23Speaker 1: of a riverboat gambler and is he You don't know.
- 27:27Speaker 1: That's sort of a good question. I'd probably stay away
- 27:29Speaker 1: from any prop um. I think a lot of people
- 27:32Speaker 1: think that the Jaguars are gonna be a lot better.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I think they will too, because I like Folds. I
- 27:36Speaker 1: just like the way he leads, and he leads like
- 27:39Speaker 1: very quietly, but he leads by example and throws a
- 27:42Speaker 1: very softball. He's such an upgrade compared to Bortles. And
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm talking just upstairs in his head. But I'm a
- 27:50Speaker 1: little worried about the interception part in the reason why,
- 27:53Speaker 1: it's because he'll he'll take a little bit more chances.
- 27:55Speaker 1: I think towards the end Blake Bortles got so scared.
- 27:58Speaker 1: It's sort of just backfire it on him and he'll
- 28:01Speaker 1: probably I'd like that. Do you you this, Jeff, You
- 28:05Speaker 1: think that Blake Bortles will ever start a game in
- 28:07Speaker 1: the NFL? Again, I'm sure he'll be on a team
- 28:09Speaker 1: and he'll start at some point, but not as the
- 28:11Speaker 1: starter or no. No, I mean like an everyday starter.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I'm talking another he's done with that. Wow, that's crazy,
- 28:18Speaker 1: all right? So I kind of like the interception one
- 28:20Speaker 1: as well, Jeff. I mean, we've seen he can be
- 28:22Speaker 1: careful with the football. Um, and I don't think they're
- 28:24Speaker 1: gonna ask him to do a lot. Just don't screw
- 28:26Speaker 1: it up. I mean, Bortles was just a damn train wreck. Um,
- 28:31Speaker 1: he was. Paul Um PAULI, we've got conference championships going
- 28:35Speaker 1: on in college basketball this week? Do you have Do
- 28:39Speaker 1: you have any plays for anyone maybe tonight or tomorrow,
- 28:41Speaker 1: anything that people should be throwing their money on. Well,
- 28:44Speaker 1: I got place for everybody. I know, what's your best
- 28:48Speaker 1: Like Washington Huskies today against the USC Chrojans. Maybe a
- 28:52Speaker 1: little karma karma y. I don't know, scholarships for the
- 28:58Speaker 1: polo team. Oh you're talking okay, Okay, you're talking about
- 29:02Speaker 1: Ann becky um um. Yeah. The Huskies are the best
- 29:06Speaker 1: team in the Pack twelve the Pac twelve. Yeah, it's weak,
- 29:10Speaker 1: it's could be and they might be an out early.
- 29:11Speaker 1: But I liked them and the game just went off. Okay,
- 29:15Speaker 1: So maybe anything a little later in the day, since
- 29:17Speaker 1: we're recording this right now. Yes, I'm gonna give you
- 29:20Speaker 1: something that's gonna blow your mind. Please do Are you ready? Yeah,
- 29:26Speaker 1: Seaton Hall, Minuster, It's not gonna BlimE mine all right.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I like how you put you you took uh you
- 29:35Speaker 1: You like the twenty seven a half points with New
- 29:36Speaker 1: Mexico State, Yeah, I did half. By the way, I
- 29:42Speaker 1: bet us Washington has been awful the last the last
- 29:45Speaker 1: five games this season, they have been atrocious. Well again,
- 29:50Speaker 1: that game is happening right now, so we should probably
- 29:52Speaker 1: give people something they can bet later in the night.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I feel like I feel like Syracuse. I feel everyone's
- 29:56Speaker 1: gonna jump on Duke tonight because of of Zombie and back.
- 30:01Speaker 1: But I feel like that could be interesting, just like
- 30:03Speaker 1: the game. Um, you know I like. I like Long
- 30:06Speaker 1: Beach State Tonight, Long Beach State. There, it is there,
- 30:10Speaker 1: it is alright. Great. So now it's it's time for
- 30:12Speaker 1: everyone's favorite time of the week. It's story time with
- 30:15Speaker 1: Paula Douka No Paulli. I want to preface this by
- 30:19Speaker 1: saying I have not heard this story yet. H It's
- 30:22Speaker 1: been told to me briefly by the chuckler. Um. I
- 30:27Speaker 1: heard there was a time you got lucky. Maybe some
- 30:30Speaker 1: highlight involved. Yeah, this is a good, great spring training story. Um.
- 30:36Speaker 1: I was with two of my friends, Billy Neil and
- 30:39Speaker 1: in Mike Metcalf. Now Billy Neil. Yeah, Billy Neil, he
- 30:45Speaker 1: was the picture of the year in the Florida State
- 30:47Speaker 1: League and Mike Metcalf was a first round pick in
- 30:50Speaker 1: ninety six out of the University of Miami. So every
- 30:54Speaker 1: Wednesday night you'd go to Fort Pierce highlight because it
- 30:58Speaker 1: was dollar beer in a hot dog night. God. Fort
- 31:01Speaker 1: Pierces a shit hole, I think per capita at the time,
- 31:04Speaker 1: it had the worst. It's the murder ratio. It's not
- 31:09Speaker 1: a good place to go. Now. Metcalf was from Orlando,
- 31:12Speaker 1: so he had a car even though we're living on Dodgertown,
- 31:15Speaker 1: so we hopped his jeep. The three of us, we
- 31:18Speaker 1: go down to the fourth Pierce Highlight. It's Wednesday night.
- 31:21Speaker 1: We start getting loaded a little bit and we're playing
- 31:25Speaker 1: the Ponies. Gonn understand it's an O T B two,
- 31:26Speaker 1: So we're playing the late night Ponies and the Dogs.
- 31:29Speaker 1: At that time and night, they're really horses don't really
- 31:31Speaker 1: run at like seven o'clock somewhere in that area. Um,
- 31:35Speaker 1: maybe you'll get the back end of some of the
- 31:37Speaker 1: California cards. So we're there to you know, mess around,
- 31:41Speaker 1: watch the highlights. But here comes out this guy named Timmy.
- 31:44Speaker 1: I'm like Timmy and he's like six ft four pounds.
- 31:49Speaker 1: I mean this guy maybe even more like two pounds.
- 31:53Speaker 1: So they play singles and they play doubles if you're
- 31:56Speaker 1: not familiar with Highlight, So he's playing singles in he's
- 32:00Speaker 1: the number one, which means when you're the number one,
- 32:03Speaker 1: you got a giant advantage. You come around a lot.
- 32:05Speaker 1: So he gets buried in the first first game and
- 32:09Speaker 1: we start laying into him. We're saying, if it was
- 32:12Speaker 1: a hamburger, you would have got that. Timmy we're just
- 32:15Speaker 1: burying this poor guy. So now it comes back around
- 32:18Speaker 1: and here he comes out again, um, and he gets
- 32:21Speaker 1: buried again, and we're just absolutely crushing him to the
- 32:25Speaker 1: point that when you go to Highlight four Pierce Highlight,
- 32:28Speaker 1: it's got like a backdrop and it's chicken scratch and
- 32:33Speaker 1: it's sort of like theater seeing. So you go all
- 32:36Speaker 1: the way up. So there's like a big crowd. This
- 32:37Speaker 1: guy is in our face, m F and us. I'm
- 32:41Speaker 1: gonna meet you guys in the parking lot afterwards. And
- 32:43Speaker 1: we were laughing because you know, we're separated by a
- 32:46Speaker 1: chicken scratch and we're drunk. So about two games later,
- 32:51Speaker 1: I look in the program. It's Timmy and Jose they're
- 32:55Speaker 1: playing doubles. Now, the one thing that Timmy did have
- 32:58Speaker 1: he was so big and strong. He could play the
- 33:01Speaker 1: back line and throw it, so I knew in doubles
- 33:03Speaker 1: he would be a monster. So I look on the program.
- 33:08Speaker 1: He's ten to one on the morning line. So we
- 33:11Speaker 1: go back out there and I tell him Mike Metcalf
- 33:14Speaker 1: because Billy Neil really didn't gamble, he was there to drink.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Go give me twenty one bucks. He goes all right,
- 33:20Speaker 1: so we went forty two dollars each or each forty
- 33:24Speaker 1: two bucks, and we wheeled Timmy and Jose. They were
- 33:27Speaker 1: the four over everybody in the trifecta. So now he
- 33:31Speaker 1: comes walking out and you can see he's staring at us.
- 33:34Speaker 1: We still were ripping on him because we want him
- 33:36Speaker 1: to win. Now they run the table, run the table,
- 33:41Speaker 1: and then he's looking at us like, you know, like
- 33:44Speaker 1: I'm showing you guys. Meanwhile, we show him the ticket
- 33:48Speaker 1: and he gets even more upset. So now in highlight,
- 33:53Speaker 1: when you run the table, the four wins. Now they
- 33:56Speaker 1: play the rest of the match out for second and third.
- 33:58Speaker 1: So we're home. But you don't want to be four
- 34:01Speaker 1: one two, four one three. You want it to be
- 34:03Speaker 1: high numbers because higher numbers are hard to get because
- 34:06Speaker 1: you gotta keep coming around. We end up getting like
- 34:08Speaker 1: four seven six, and the trifecta pays nine hundred dollars.
- 34:13Speaker 1: So now we hit for nineteen hundred dollars. That's more
- 34:16Speaker 1: than we made last year, eight fifty dollars a year
- 34:20Speaker 1: before a month. Okay, so now we go sign the ticket.
- 34:27Speaker 1: We had a another guy signed the ticket. You do
- 34:29Speaker 1: the ten percent rule. You have some vagrant, come in
- 34:32Speaker 1: sign the ticket for nineteen hundred, and you give them
- 34:34Speaker 1: two hundred dollars. This way, it doesn't go on your
- 34:35Speaker 1: record bottom line, and we start getting loaded. Yes, So
- 34:44Speaker 1: now what happens in spring training? It's now I look up,
- 34:48Speaker 1: it's we're about twelve beers deep, maybe three shots all
- 34:52Speaker 1: of us. Now you've got to make the decision. You
- 34:56Speaker 1: got to go to the local bar or we're going
- 34:59Speaker 1: to Dodger Town. Um. Now, when you go to the
- 35:01Speaker 1: local bar, you got an hour and an hour and
- 35:03Speaker 1: a half to take a chick out of there because
- 35:05Speaker 1: you gotta be back at Dodgertown by midnight. So you
- 35:08Speaker 1: got to make a decision very very quickly. I can
- 35:11Speaker 1: only imagine the decision you made. Well, here's the other thing. Now,
- 35:15Speaker 1: Wednesday night was Ladies night. So but we are for
- 35:18Speaker 1: Pierce Paul. No, we're driving back to Dodgers. So you go, okay,
- 35:22Speaker 1: so Vero beach a lot better. Ladies Night is gonna
- 35:25Speaker 1: be fifty and over. So we're driving back. We're driving, okay,
- 35:29Speaker 1: So it's either Miami subs or we're gonna go to
- 35:34Speaker 1: the club. So Metcalf is driving at this point and
- 35:39Speaker 1: we decided to go into the club. Well, here's the problem.
- 35:42Speaker 1: When you go in the club on ladies night and
- 35:45Speaker 1: you play in a ball there's fifty other guys in
- 35:48Speaker 1: there now from the organizations that are there also, and
- 35:51Speaker 1: there's big leaguers there, so you have no shot. So
- 35:54Speaker 1: we walk in and I'm like, it was carols Um,
- 35:59Speaker 1: Tom Ends, a couple other guys were there, and then
- 36:04Speaker 1: comes out the challenge. It's about eleven, and I'm like, hey,
- 36:08Speaker 1: let's go back home, Let's go back to Dodger Town.
- 36:10Speaker 1: We gotta get out of here. Man Paul Duke of
- 36:12Speaker 1: the Voice of Reason. Yes, then the little devil came out,
- 36:19Speaker 1: and I don't want to know what he referred to
- 36:20Speaker 1: as the little devil. This is true, this is what happened.
- 36:23Speaker 1: So there's this girl sitting over there in the corner
- 36:26Speaker 1: where her friend. She's obviously the hottest girl in the bar.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Every guys taking every guy is taking a shot at her.
- 36:33Speaker 1: So now all the guys in the big leagues are
- 36:35Speaker 1: ponying up and I'm like, I can get her to
- 36:40Speaker 1: dance with me, and they're like, you have no shot.
- 36:43Speaker 1: I'm like, put up the money. So I did a
- 36:45Speaker 1: little trick in Australia with Miss Australia, and I was
- 36:48Speaker 1: going to pull the same trick. Here's the thing that's
- 36:50Speaker 1: going on when I played over in Australia. True story.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Miss Australia was signing an autographs. My buddies put up
- 36:57Speaker 1: a bunch of money, said, you can't get her to dance.
- 36:59Speaker 1: They put up at the thousand dollars. I went up
- 37:01Speaker 1: to her, whispered her whisperer in her ear, I am
- 37:05Speaker 1: not weird. Please be quiet. You're gonna get five. Be quiet. Yes,
- 37:10Speaker 1: you're gonna get five dollars. Do not look, do not
- 37:14Speaker 1: do anything. I am gonna take you. I'm gonna come
- 37:17Speaker 1: back here and ask you for a dance. When you're
- 37:19Speaker 1: done signing autographs. Just take the dance and I will
- 37:21Speaker 1: give you five dollars. And she said, yes, this is terrifying. Okay.
- 37:27Speaker 1: So it worked and then we ended up hanging out
- 37:30Speaker 1: a couple more times after that. In Misless, yeah, I
- 37:35Speaker 1: have that neck on people. So now the gauntlet is
- 37:40Speaker 1: thrown down and the big boys are putting down like
- 37:42Speaker 1: four or five dollars for me to ask this girl.
- 37:46Speaker 1: You know, they're like, get her to dance, get her
- 37:49Speaker 1: to go. Now, it's like, you gotta get her out
- 37:51Speaker 1: of here. I'm like, there's no shot I'm getting around here,
- 37:55Speaker 1: So I gotta go to my go to move like
- 37:57Speaker 1: I've done it five times and I've been hit three
- 38:01Speaker 1: times and I've gotten lucky twice. Alright, So yeah, and
- 38:08Speaker 1: I went up to her and I dropped this line,
- 38:10Speaker 1: do you want to have a pizza? And fuck? And
- 38:16Speaker 1: she just stared at me and chill, but but no,
- 38:20Speaker 1: and she said, looked at me, and I said, what
- 38:22Speaker 1: you don't like pizza? And she lost it. Okay, so
- 38:35Speaker 1: I'm home. I'm home. I'm got her on the dance floor.
- 38:38Speaker 1: She died, laughing. Um, Jeff, thoughts, I don't know what's
- 38:44Speaker 1: happening right now. I mean, thought you want to get
- 38:51Speaker 1: a pizza? And fuck? Is is that when you still
- 38:58Speaker 1: use I can't use it anymore? Too old Now. I've
- 39:03Speaker 1: gotten slapped and lit up a couple of times. But no,
- 39:05Speaker 1: really that's shocking. But when it works, it's gold. You're in.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm sure. What do you think? I mean?
- 39:14Speaker 1: That kind of pick up lines a little bold. That
- 39:16Speaker 1: was the only way I could do it. It It was like, oh,
- 39:18Speaker 1: it was five I mean, if she'd hit me in
- 39:20Speaker 1: front of fifty fifty guys, that obviously we've been pretty funny.
- 39:25Speaker 1: But like I mean, it was definitely some alcohol courage
- 39:28Speaker 1: going into that line. All right. I really I don't.
- 39:33Speaker 1: I don't know what to say to that, Paul, I
- 39:36Speaker 1: really don't. I mean, that's nothing that that story is. Um,
- 39:40Speaker 1: it's probably know is Timmy Woncks and and you didn't.
- 39:45Speaker 1: It didn't even involve a Denny's. No, my Miami subs.
- 39:49Speaker 1: You ever eaten there? I think I've probably been the one.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Are they even open anymore? Not bad trying that? If
- 39:57Speaker 1: you're in all right, Um, this feels like a good
- 40:00Speaker 1: time to wrap this up again. If you're in Vegas
- 40:03Speaker 1: this Wednesday night, seven to ten Pacific, stop by the
- 40:06Speaker 1: Palm's Hotel and Casino at Mabel's. Me, Paul, Chad Darren
