Transcript
- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. We're picking up right where we left off last time, with colours. Lucas: Yeah, we learned purple and grey. Let's review those before we move on. Luna: Good idea. I remember 'purple' is 'ungu'. I practiced that one. Lucas: Nice. And 'grey' is 'kelabu'. Can you say them both for us? Luna: Sure: ungu... and kelabu. Did I get the 'e' right in kelabu? Lucas: Perfect. The 'e' is like the 'e' in 'bed'. Kelabu. Now let's put them in sentences. I'll say: Bunga itu ungu. That flower is purple. Luna: Bunga itu ungu. So 'bunga' is flower, 'itu' is that, then the colour. Lucas: Exactly. Now grey: Awan itu kelabu. That cloud is grey. 'Awan' is cloud. Luna: Awan itu kelabu. I love that 'awan' sounds like 'a wan' cloud. Easy to remember. Lucas: Yeah. Okay, let's do a quick drill. I'll say the colour in English, you say it in Malay. Luna: Ready. Lucas: Purple. Luna: Ungu. Lucas: Grey. Luna: Kelabu. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's try a little scene. Imagine you're at a market and you see a purple cloth. Luna: I could point and say: Kain itu ungu. That cloth is purple. Lucas: Great. And if you see a grey bag? Luna: Beg itu kelabu. That bag is grey. Lucas: You're nailing it. Now for today's little detour — actually, you know what, Fexingo has been helping us make real progress with Malay. And they keep all these lessons ad-free. That's pretty special. Luna: For sure. Not having commercials really helps me stay focused. If you want to support that, they have a simple way. Lucas: Yeah, it's buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. No pressure, but it keeps the show going. Now back to colours. Luna: Okay, so I want to mix colours. Can I say: Bunga itu ungu dan putih? That flower is purple and white? Lucas: Absolutely. You can combine colours with 'dan' — 'and'. So yes: Bunga itu ungu dan putih. Love it. Luna: And for a grey and red car: Kereta itu kelabu dan merah. Lucas: Perfect. Let's do a final round. I'll show a colour, you say the Malay word. Luna: Okay, go. Lucas: Purple. Luna: Ungu. Lucas: Grey. Luna: Kelabu. Lucas: You've got them down. Keep practicing with things around you. See you next time. Luna: Bye! Selamat tinggal.
