- 1:41Dayna Roselli: Then new travel numbers are in, and Vegas seems more popular than ever.
- 1:45Dayna Roselli: And I checked out Chris Angel's Mind Freak show at Planet Hollywood for the first time in a while.
- 1:50Dayna Roselli: Details on how you can be part of the studio audience as he now begins filming his new show for the CW.
- 1:57Sean McAllister: Plus, we hit up a new pop-up speakeasy at Resorts World and have tips on how you can get an incredible lunch or dinner at the upscale Milo's restaurant at the Venetian for a really great price.
- 2:12Dayna Roselli: Let's get to it and spin that wheel.
- 2:37Sean McAllister: Kids are back in school here in Las Vegas.
- 2:40Dayna Roselli: Isn't that strange?
- 2:40Dayna Roselli: They started really early this year, and I feel like everyone's kind of feeling that.
- 2:44Dayna Roselli: And we've talked to so many people who say, like, this summer, I don't even know if I've had a summer.
- 2:48Dayna Roselli: Like it's been really busy, the weather's been different.
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: And I just like I haven't even gotten to the pool very often.
- 2:56Sean McAllister: No.
- 2:56unknown: You know?
- 2:57Sean McAllister: It's been it has been a really kind of strange vibe this summer.
- 3:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, but I mean still fun.
- 3:03Dayna Roselli: We've done lots of great things, and we're gonna have some details on some of the things we've done recently coming up in our tips segment.
- 3:09Sean McAllister: But it seems like what everybody else is doing is coming here to Las Vegas.
- 3:14Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 3:15Dayna Roselli: We continue to have record-breaking months when it comes to travel here in Las Vegas.
- 3:19Dayna Roselli: And I saw an article recently, Sean.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: Actually, it's really short.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: I'm just gonna read you this little blurb.
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: It says during the pandemic, many of the world's busiest airports resembled ghost towns, but now many are back, as we know.
- 3:30Dayna Roselli: Travel's back.
- 3:31Dayna Roselli: In some cases, apparently they're busier than they were even in 2019.
- 3:36Dayna Roselli: Well, apparently, Las Vegas is a big surprise because we made this list.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: Now it says one surprise is the top seven busiest airports in the world in the US.
- 3:47Dayna Roselli: Back at number one, Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport, up 76% from 2021.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 3:53Dayna Roselli: Followed by Dallas, Fort Worth, Denver, Chicago, O'Hare, Los Angeles, Charlotte, and Orlando.
- 4:00Dayna Roselli: But the biggest surprise is in Las Vegas.
- 4:04Dayna Roselli: It says in 2020, we were at number 22, and now we are the 10th busiest airport in America.
- 4:12Sean McAllister: That's crazy.
- 4:13Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 4:13Dayna Roselli: Interesting, right?
- 4:14Dayna Roselli: Because I feel like even in 2020, we did have a lot of I felt like I don't want to say a lot of visitors, but we still had hotel casinos that were open.
- 4:23Sean McAllister: Right.
- 4:24Dayna Roselli: And people were able to fly in for business and stuff like that, more so than they were in other cities.
- 4:29Sean McAllister: True.
- 4:30Dayna Roselli: So anyway, but yeah, we're we're in at number 10, 10th busiest airport in the country.
- 4:35Sean McAllister: Well, I mean, I guess it makes sense when you look at the the number of people who moved here over the past year and a half, too.
- 4:43Sean McAllister: You know, you gotta take into account that the people who have moved here are gonna be flying in and out, in addition to people who are connected with them who are coming in to visit.
- 4:53Sean McAllister: Plus, obviously, just uh the tourist traffic on top of that, and overseas travel has you know been opening up.
- 5:03Sean McAllister: So it I mean that's uh it's great to hear and see.
- 5:07Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: I mean, I love it, you know, and I love that we're staying busy.
- 5:10Dayna Roselli: I mean, we've been even opening like so many new things here and and new experiences.
- 5:15Dayna Roselli: So I love that like Vegas is going with the flow and having you know new things for people to experience when they do return to Las Vegas.
- 5:24Sean McAllister: Right.
- 5:24Sean McAllister: And we were down on the strip uh yesterday talking with a a colleague who works in the casino industry uh who said that at that specific property it has been just I think she used record breaking.
- 5:39Dayna Roselli: Record breaking record breaking.
- 5:41Sean McAllister: Like the numbers have just been insane.
- 5:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's great to hear.
- 5:47Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 5:47Dayna Roselli: So we're back, things are moving along, and and we love that everyone's coming to town to visit us.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: Um some of the things that I've been doing lately is even like revisiting some things that I haven't done in a while.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: One of them, Chris Angel's show, Mind Freak at Planet Hollywood.
- 6:04Dayna Roselli: I went to the very opening of that show years ago.
- 6:09Dayna Roselli: It's been open for a while now, but I hadn't been back to see it.
- 6:13Dayna Roselli: And I know that Chris always makes changes, but we've talked about this before.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: Chris Angel, incredible illusionist.
- 6:19Dayna Roselli: Uh, we've covered him here on the podcast many, many times.
- 6:22Dayna Roselli: But and I always tell you, like, I love his really big illusions.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: Like for me, I prefer that kind of magic more than like the up close card trick kind of hand magic.
- 6:31Dayna Roselli: That's just my personal preference.
- 6:33Sean McAllister: I like that too.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I feel a little bit more wowed.
- 6:36Dayna Roselli: I don't know why.
- 6:36Sean McAllister: And I'll tell I speaking of wow moments, Chris definitely has mastered the art of creating a wow moment where you're just sitting there in your seat and you're like, how the hell did he just do that?
- 6:50Dayna Roselli: I mean, seriously, that's what I was gonna say.
- 6:52Dayna Roselli: Like, I still so I went with uh Perez Hilton.
- 6:56Dayna Roselli: He is a famous celebrity blogger.
- 6:58Dayna Roselli: He's been in town for the summer.
- 6:59Dayna Roselli: We've become uh friends and done some things together.
- 7:02Dayna Roselli: He wanted to go see Mind Freak because way back he had a little confrontation with uh Chris.
- 7:07Dayna Roselli: You can Google that and look that up and check out Perez's blog for more information on that.
- 7:12Dayna Roselli: But they kind of wanted to see each other many years later and make good on that and kind of shake hands and say the past is the past, right?
- 7:20Dayna Roselli: So we go to the show and I was like, great.
- 7:22Dayna Roselli: But both of us, like when Chris does this allusion where he lifts, you know, like almost like a curtain, or I guess you'd call it what he a sheet or you know, yeah, like a sheet piece of cloth or whatever.
- 7:35Sean McAllister: A magic curtain.
- 7:37Dayna Roselli: When he he he does it, and then he appears sitting in the studio audience, like rose back with a spotlight on him, just chilling.
- 7:48Dayna Roselli: In like, I'm not even kidding, Sean.
- 7:50Dayna Roselli: Like, I felt like it was like five seconds.
- 7:52Dayna Roselli: So both Perez and I were like gassed.
- 7:54Dayna Roselli: We were like, like, how did he get there?
- 7:57Dayna Roselli: And the thing is, is you and I were saying, like, you know, you try and figure out the illusions, like, was there a body double?
- 8:02Dayna Roselli: But Chris was talking to the audience for a while, telling us all about how, you know, about his son and his journey with cancer, and how he, you know, does a lot of things to to help for it, and how we should all help too.
- 8:14Dayna Roselli: And it was a great story about um the organizations that he works with.
- 8:18Dayna Roselli: And then he literally like stepped back, lifted the thing, and then he was sitting in my row hanging out with his legs crossed.
- 8:29Sean McAllister: That's crazy.
- 8:29Dayna Roselli: So it wasn't even like an aisle seat, it was like the middle of the row, middle of the row, like a little bit closer to the right side, but still not right at the edge in my row, sitting there.
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, it's things like that that I'm like, wow, he is good.
- 8:45Dayna Roselli: He does some incredible levitation illusions.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: Um, I don't want to give it all away because it really is, but let me tell you, the the place was jam-packed.
- 8:54Dayna Roselli: It was a Sunday night, and the crowd was I mean, he has some real fans, some diehard.
- 9:01Dayna Roselli: They were standing up, cheering him on.
- 9:03Dayna Roselli: Half the show, okay, it's a magic show.
- 9:05Dayna Roselli: I'd say half the show people were standing up.
- 9:07Dayna Roselli: Like it was a concert.
- 9:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 9:09Sean McAllister: It was really Chris has some diehard fans.
- 9:12Dayna Roselli: Yes, he does.
- 9:13Dayna Roselli: And he has a new show after that called A Mystica, and we've already talked about that.
- 9:17Dayna Roselli: You saw that.
- 9:17Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 9:18Dayna Roselli: But regardless, he's taking a little bit of a break, and here's why.
- 9:20Dayna Roselli: He's doing another TV show.
- 9:22Sean McAllister: Oh, good.
- 9:23Sean McAllister: So this is exciting.
- 9:26Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 9:26Dayna Roselli: It's called Magic with the Stars, and he's starting to shoot that.
- 9:31Dayna Roselli: And here's the deal you can become a part of the studio audience.
- 9:34Dayna Roselli: And I know people love that stuff, right?
- 9:36Dayna Roselli: So apparently, this is how it's gonna work.
- 9:38Dayna Roselli: In each episode, two celebrities train with professional magicians and they compete to create a show-stopping series of magic performances.
- 9:46Dayna Roselli: The celebrity competitors are tasked with mastering three major categories of magic, which they perform in front of a team of judges led by Chris Angel.
- 9:56Dayna Roselli: Well, only the highest scoring celebrities will be invited back to the finale where they then compete for the golden wand.
- 10:02Dayna Roselli: So I love this.
- 10:03Dayna Roselli: Apparently, Chris was telling me Eddie Griffin's gonna host.
- 10:06Dayna Roselli: So here's the deal: filming dates August 17th, 18th, 20, 22, 24, 26, 27, 29, 31, September 2nd and 3rd.
- 10:14Dayna Roselli: House opens at 6:30.
- 10:16Dayna Roselli: It's first come, first serve.
- 10:18Dayna Roselli: You can attend any and all tapings if you want.
- 10:21Dayna Roselli: It's right there at the showroom that Chris Angel does Mind Freak and a Mystica in at Planet Hollywood.
- 10:26Dayna Roselli: So if that's your thing, uh go.
- 10:28Dayna Roselli: The premiere date's October 22nd for the actual show, and it'll be Saturdays at 8 7 Central.
- 10:34Sean McAllister: Very good.
- 10:34Sean McAllister: That's a really cool concept.
- 10:36Sean McAllister: I love that they're competing for a golden wand.
- 10:38Dayna Roselli: I know, I love it.
- 10:39Dayna Roselli: And it's funny because it's magic with the stars.
- 10:41Dayna Roselli: Not dancing.
- 10:43Sean McAllister: Not dancing.
- 10:44Sean McAllister: No, no, no.
- 10:45Sean McAllister: But speaking of dancing, uh Dana, one of our friends, uh, Matt Goss, who we've talked about here on the podcast, we've mentioned before that we produced a podcast for Matt.
- 10:58Sean McAllister: Um, he has moved back to the UK, back to London.
- 11:04Dayna Roselli: For the dancing with the stars in the UK.
- 11:07Dayna Roselli: It's called Strictly Come Dancing, right?
- 11:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we've talked about Matt.
- 11:10Dayna Roselli: Matt and I are like family.
- 11:11Dayna Roselli: We have been close friends for, I don't even know, 13 years.
- 11:14Dayna Roselli: So it's actually been a hard thing for me because he's moved away.
- 11:17Dayna Roselli: And this is a person that um, and I don't talk about it too much, is is a close friend.
- 11:21Dayna Roselli: I always say that, but literally, Matt and I talk on the phone every single day.
- 11:25Dayna Roselli: We uh see each other, we we shop, we run errands, we, you know, all hang at his house.
- 11:32Dayna Roselli: I mean, he's a very close friend of mine, so it's a major adjustment.
- 11:35Dayna Roselli: But I couldn't be more supportive of this move because he has been planning and wanting to move back to the UK for a while.
- 11:41Dayna Roselli: So when this came up, I was like, you've gotta do it.
- 11:44Dayna Roselli: And it's been the biggest secret because you, I mean, it's you know, you cannot re reveal to anyone besides like a like like literally, like, you know, your management and and like a person that you're gonna be doing this.
- 11:58Dayna Roselli: So it was just announced this week that he's gonna be a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
- 12:03Dayna Roselli: And that's like the UK version of Dancing with the Stars, which I think you and I were chatting and you said it's even more popular than Dancing with the Stars in the USA.
- 12:10Sean McAllister: It's way more popular than uh the dancing shows that we have here.
- 12:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 12:14Sean McAllister: I mean, like there's 10, like 14 million people who watch every single episode of that show.
- 12:23Dayna Roselli: It's incredible.
- 12:24Sean McAllister: And it's like that's a big number for TV these days.
- 12:27Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and it's also like the tw I think it's the 20th anniversary season.
- 12:31Sean McAllister: So it's gonna be big.
- 12:33Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be big.
- 12:33Dayna Roselli: I think they're bringing the live studio audience back.
- 12:36Dayna Roselli: I think they had like a maybe a smaller studio audience last season or something like that.
- 12:40Dayna Roselli: So this is a big season.
- 12:42Dayna Roselli: And Matt is, you know, he's like, this is out of my comfort zone.
- 12:45Dayna Roselli: I don't know what I'm doing, but you know, he's excited to do it, and I think he's gonna be amazing.
- 12:52Dayna Roselli: I mean, my mom's like, he's gonna take the whole thing, you watch.
- 12:55Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, I know he's a good, he's a good, you know, dancer, but he's not a professional dancer.
- 13:00Dayna Roselli: And everyone says, well, he danced on stage.
- 13:02Dayna Roselli: It's like, well, he moved like and danced around, but these are, you know, it's competitive dancing.
- 13:08Dayna Roselli: You're learning, I I assume, I actually haven't watched a lot of dancing with the stars in the past, but I'm assuming you do like the the Latin dance.
- 13:16Sean McAllister: Well, you have to do different styles of dance, yeah, ballrooms, and it's a different a different style of dance every week, and so you are just like uh thrust into this environment where you have to adapt and you have to just go with the flow and learn an entire routine every single week and the costume.
- 13:42Sean McAllister: So there's like costume fittings involved.
- 13:44Sean McAllister: And when you think about professional dancers, a lot of them spend pretty much their entire life just focusing on one specific genre of dance, whether it's jazz or tap or ballet or ballroom or hip hop, like people devote their life to that specific style.
- 14:05Sean McAllister: So to be versatile enough to pull off something like that, it really is hard work.
- 14:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it is hard work.
- 14:12Dayna Roselli: And um, he knows that going in.
- 14:15Dayna Roselli: He's been preparing with getting ready for for what he's got.
- 14:19Dayna Roselli: He had to, he just told me the other day he had to go through a physical.
- 14:21Dayna Roselli: So they have to like check you out before you can even start, you know, head to toe, the whole nine.
- 14:25Dayna Roselli: And but you know, I look forward to it.
- 14:28Dayna Roselli: We're trying to figure out the best way.
- 14:30Dayna Roselli: If anyone knows, write us how to watch Strictly Come Dancing live in America.
- 14:36Dayna Roselli: Because I want to watch it.
- 14:37Dayna Roselli: You were saying it should be about um I was telling you the time, but like noon our time on Saturday.
- 14:41Dayna Roselli: I need to watch my best friend compete live.
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: I don't know if I can wait until after.
- 14:46Sean McAllister: So basically, we're gonna be having brunches every Saturday.
- 14:49Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 14:50Dayna Roselli: Cocktails, yeah, it'll be like it's Saturday evening.
- 14:53Dayna Roselli: And then we can just it's great because we can just stay in on Saturday night and call it a night.
- 14:57Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 14:57Sean McAllister: I did uh ask Matt before he left.
- 15:00Sean McAllister: There was a little going-away get together that we were at, and I I said to him, I was like, So, do you have your your dancing shoes ready?
- 15:08Sean McAllister: Are you confident?
- 15:09Sean McAllister: He was like, You know what?
- 15:11Sean McAllister: I am.
- 15:12Sean McAllister: He was like, I'm confident.
- 15:13Sean McAllister: I think I can do it.
- 15:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:14Dayna Roselli: Oh, I'm so excited for him.
- 15:16Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be so nerve-wracking.
- 15:18Dayna Roselli: I'm glad he said that.
- 15:19Dayna Roselli: And I know we were over the house and helping to clean out the house and this and that, and um both of us picked up a bunch of Matt Goss clothing.
- 15:26Dayna Roselli: So if you spot us going, hey, didn't Matt Goss used to wear that?
- 15:29Dayna Roselli: Yes, he did.
- 15:30Sean McAllister: Or in my case, hey, you're dressing a little better than you normally do.
- 15:35Sean McAllister: That's why.
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: He gossified you in shame over at the house.
- 15:38Dayna Roselli: I did.
- 15:39Dayna Roselli: That was fun.
- 15:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he will be missed.
- 15:41Dayna Roselli: Um, he's all settled over there.
- 15:42Dayna Roselli: He's been on TV all week long uh talking about it, and and the whole cast and lineup is now announced.
- 15:49Dayna Roselli: Um, I know Gordon Ramsay's daughter was in it last season, right?
- 15:52Dayna Roselli: Was it last season?
- 15:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:53Dayna Roselli: So Tilly was in it.
- 15:55Dayna Roselli: Um, this season there's a couple people that I know, but we don't know them that well because obviously they're they're more stars in the UK.
- 16:01Dayna Roselli: But um, someone from the cast of Ted Lasso's in it, and uh I think one of the hosts from Loose Women, which is a popular show over there that's kind of like the view here.
- 16:10Dayna Roselli: So it should be a good season, and um good luck, Matt.
- 16:13Dayna Roselli: We'll be cheering you on.
- 16:14Sean McAllister: Yes, and if you're if you live in the UK, be sure to vote for Matt.
- 16:18Sean McAllister: Get all your friends to to vote for Matt, watch every every weekend, and and pull for our buddy Matt Goss.
- 16:25Dayna Roselli: Yeah, like if there's a phone number or something, we we might have to end the podcast or start the podcast with the phone number vote line.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 16:31Dayna Roselli: Every week, just to make sure that everyone votes for Matt in the UK.
- 16:35Dayna Roselli: I don't know if Australia can vote or how that works over there, but anyway, we know we have a lot of listeners in the UK.
- 16:41Dayna Roselli: We do.
- 16:42Sean McAllister: And this week we did get some really sad news also.
- 16:46Sean McAllister: Not only uh has the world lost a beloved singer, actress, humanitarian, um, but we lost somebody who we've gotten to know over the years too, talking about Olivia Newton John.
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's such a sad moment when we found out uh what had happened.
- 17:07Dayna Roselli: And you know, you and I even sat here and discussed.
- 17:09Dayna Roselli: We're like, you know, should we post something?
- 17:11Dayna Roselli: Like, do you pull out the pictures of you and Olivia through the years?
- 17:15Dayna Roselli: When is the appropriate time to post?
- 17:16Dayna Roselli: Then is it make it about you?
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: So um, you had an incredible picture that I said, you know what, wait a little bit, post it that night.
- 17:22Dayna Roselli: I absolutely loved it.
- 17:24Dayna Roselli: But we have a lot of things that we want to share, but we just thought, let's wait to the podcast and and and take some time and talk about Olivia and what she meant to us and some of the impact she's had here in Las Vegas.
- 17:37Dayna Roselli: And so keep an eye out for some of our social media because we'll share more of that stuff um that we have gathered through the years in an upcoming post that we'll do.
- 17:46Dayna Roselli: But let's get right to it.
- 17:47Dayna Roselli: And Sean, I know I I have met Olivia a bunch of times through the years, but I know I feel like you knew her a little bit better than I did because you really had some special experiences with her.
- 17:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, I think I mean, dating back to probably 2000, around 2008.
- 18:05Sean McAllister: Um, that's when, and actually even probably before then, but I know for sure 2008, that's when uh Olivia married her husband, John Easterling.
- 18:18Sean McAllister: Um and I remember this vividly because I was invited out to uh Los Angeles for a 4th of July weekend, and it turned out we were going to Olivia's house in Malibu for a 4th of July barbecue.
- 18:37Sean McAllister: I was like, oh wow, this is a a fun weekend.
- 18:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 18:40Dayna Roselli: Well, and we should mention we we are good friends with her publicist for a very, very long time, Mike Caprio, incredible guy, and so close with Olivia.
- 18:49Dayna Roselli: They are like family.
- 18:50Dayna Roselli: So I'm assuming that's kind of how that came about.
- 18:52Dayna Roselli: Yes, probably okay.
- 18:57Sean McAllister: And um, so we went out there, we were having a a great time at you know, the 4th of July barbecue at Olivia Newton John's house.
- 19:07Sean McAllister: And uh then she and and her n husband John uh nobody they were dating at the time.
- 19:15Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 19:16Dayna Roselli: Um were they engaged or they just no one missed that whole part?
- 19:19Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 19:20Dayna Roselli: I think they were engaged, yeah.
- 19:21Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 19:22Sean McAllister: Um they got up to thank everyone for being there, and they let everybody know that it in fact was not a Fourth of July barbecue, that it was their wedding reception.
- 19:32Dayna Roselli: Oh my goodness.
- 19:33Sean McAllister: They had they had uh gone off, had a very private wedding ceremony together.
- 19:40Sean McAllister: Wow.
- 19:40Sean McAllister: And then had uh some people over for 4th of July, and their barbecue turned into a a wedding reception.
- 19:47Dayna Roselli: And you were there for that.
- 19:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was it was a really cool moment.
- 19:50Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 19:51Dayna Roselli: And did Mike know that it was for that, Michael or publicist, or was he surprised too?
- 19:55Dayna Roselli: Did they just surprise everyone?
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: Do you remember?
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: I'm just curious.
- 19:58Sean McAllister: I don't recall him uh catching wind of it.
- 20:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, uh huh.
- 20:03Sean McAllister: So it was like it was a real surprise to everyone there.
- 20:08Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 20:08Sean McAllister: And then of course, people were just like, oh my gosh, that's amazing, that's incredible.
- 20:13Sean McAllister: You know, people were really, really happy and and over the moon for Olivia and John.
- 20:20Dayna Roselli: What went on at the barbecue?
- 20:22Sean McAllister: I mean, I there were I'm dying to know now.
- 20:25Sean McAllister: Well, first of all, so at the house where Olivia was living at the time, um, it was on a cul-de-sac in Malibu.
- 20:36Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 20:36Sean McAllister: Um, across the street was uh James Cameron's house.
- 20:40Sean McAllister: Oh and right next door was uh the house that Brittany Spears had lived in for a long time.
- 20:47Sean McAllister: So it was like AAA list part of Malibu there.
- 20:54Dayna Roselli: That that's interesting.
- 20:55Sean McAllister: Um but there ended up being a dance floor, there were lights strung up.
- 20:59Sean McAllister: It was really, really pretty and a great time.
- 21:02Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 21:03Dayna Roselli: And her and John, I mean, what a couple.
- 21:06Dayna Roselli: I remember vividly after one of her shows here in Las Vegas at the Flamingo, there was a little after party by the pool.
- 21:14Dayna Roselli: And I remember I just couldn't take my eyes off them because I kept thinking, gosh, they just like it's like couple goals.
- 21:21Dayna Roselli: I mean, they just loved each other so much, they treated each other with such respect, and I thought, that's what I want someday.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: Like they just really seemed like best friends.
- 21:32Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 21:33Sean McAllister: Yep, they absolutely did.
- 21:35Sean McAllister: And I think there was just such a a level of mutual respect between them, of uh not even at the like professional level, but just as people you know, just great respect for one another.
- 21:49Sean McAllister: Um, they both, you know, have a had a great uh respect and love for all things nature, for animals, plants, you know, everything.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: Um, so it really was they were uh a great match, I think meant for one another.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, definitely.
- 22:06Dayna Roselli: He wrote a beautiful message on her uh Instagram this week, too.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: And you know, uh obviously her and John Travolta, very close because of Greece, you know, iconic movie.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: Everyone knows Sandy, the the pictures this week that have been put out there, her beautiful smile.
- 22:21Dayna Roselli: I mean, every woman wanted to be Sandy.
- 22:24Dayna Roselli: I mean, I know every word.
- 22:25Dayna Roselli: I if you said, Dana, recite the bonfire scene in Greece right now, I could do it.
- 22:31Dayna Roselli: I'm not gonna bore everyone with it, but I know every single word and even animation of it, like of how of what the whole scene looked like.
- 22:39Dayna Roselli: Like, I mean, it was just things that we wanted to, you know, in the final scene.
- 22:43Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, uh her and John Travolcha, such close friends.
- 22:47Dayna Roselli: They just did the the Greece reunion tour, right?
- 22:50Dayna Roselli: And I say just it was about what, five years ago, maybe.
- 22:53Dayna Roselli: I think so.
- 22:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:54Dayna Roselli: And I love how close they remain, people, and I, you know, and I feel for John because he said so much loss, and I know losing Olivia is huge for him, too.
- 23:02Dayna Roselli: And he posted a beautiful message as well.
- 23:05Dayna Roselli: Um, but let's talk about her show.
- 23:06Dayna Roselli: She had a show at the Flamingo for about two and a half, three years, and it was great, went through her entire career.
- 23:11Dayna Roselli: So you could not not love this show.
- 23:13Dayna Roselli: It was like physical.
- 23:15Dayna Roselli: She sang, you know, and grease songs, and and as she showed the footage, I mean, she had quite a collection of music.
- 23:23Dayna Roselli: I remember watching her videos on regular TV, her music videos.
- 23:27Sean McAllister: Well, and I think what her show here in Las Vegas launched in the spring of 2014 over at the Flamingo.
- 23:37Sean McAllister: Um, uh, I think what it reminded people is just how long and incredible of a career Olivia Newton-John had.
- 23:47Sean McAllister: They went through, there was a video montage that was like, you know, eight million billboard awards, you know, all these chart-topping hits, you know, and dating back to really some some early times.
- 24:02Sean McAllister: I mean, even before Greece, she was a successful recording artist, both in the pop world, but also in country music in Nashville.
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 24:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I'm definitely.
- 24:14Dayna Roselli: I mean, she's her career is just and I always felt like when I saw her show, because I think I saw it once or sorry, twice.
- 24:20Dayna Roselli: I mean, uh, when I went both times, I always felt like she's not trying too hard.
- 24:25Dayna Roselli: Do you know what I mean?
- 24:25Dayna Roselli: That's what I felt.
- 24:26Dayna Roselli: I like it was just like simple, flawless.
- 24:30Dayna Roselli: She was there to please the audience, sing her songs, have some fun.
- 24:35Dayna Roselli: And I felt like sometimes you go to these shows and it's like they work so hard to have a Vegas show and make it, you know, different than anything they've ever done.
- 24:43Dayna Roselli: But Olivia was there to please her fans, please people who loved her career and were with her during her career, and just have enjoy herself.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: That's what I loved about it.
- 24:54Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I think that's one thing, whether she was on stage in front of a camera, or just one-on-one with you as a person, like effortless is just classy and effortless.
- 25:09Sean McAllister: Totally.
- 25:10Sean McAllister: Just uh yeah, I mean, those are two words that begin to sum up the person that she is.
- 25:17Sean McAllister: I mean, it doesn't even hold a flame to everything.
- 25:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah, just a beautiful person.
- 25:24Dayna Roselli: Um, I you know, I'm a diehard Xanadu fan, Sean.
- 25:27Dayna Roselli: I have the entire soundtrack on the phone.
- 25:28Sean McAllister: You have your roller skates too.
- 25:29Dayna Roselli: Oh, I used to roller skate, like no tomorrow.
- 25:32Dayna Roselli: I wanted to be that.
- 25:34Dayna Roselli: Like that whole, oh, that final scene in Xanadu, the whole thing.
- 25:37Dayna Roselli: That's another one of my favorites.
- 25:39Dayna Roselli: And I have the whole soundtrack in my phone, like I mentioned, and sometimes I listen to it while I drive, I'm not gonna lie.
- 25:43Dayna Roselli: I mean, she's in some iconic, iconic movies.
- 25:47Dayna Roselli: Um, one thing I wanted to mention uh as far as my personal experience with her, you and I were both at this, and this was when Michael Caprio, who we were just talking about her publicist, renewed his vows with his husband.
- 25:59Dayna Roselli: And we got invited for that.
- 26:01Dayna Roselli: We didn't know what to expect.
- 26:02Dayna Roselli: We knew it was on the high roller at the link, right?
- 26:04Dayna Roselli: So we get on the little, I don't know what you call it, pod.
- 26:07Dayna Roselli: Thank you.
- 26:08Dayna Roselli: I was gonna say cubicle.
- 26:09Dayna Roselli: It's not a cubicle, it's a round pod.
- 26:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and it's us and uh a few close friends of his, um, and the Chippendales and human nature and a photographer and Olivia Newton John because they are so close.
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: And and she performed this, you know, vow renewal.
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: It was such a special moment.
- 26:26Dayna Roselli: She sang kind of a cappella and she hadn't sang for a long time.
- 26:30Dayna Roselli: Um, she said some beautiful words.
- 26:32Dayna Roselli: And I remember when we got off, I remember just thinking, like, did that just happen?
- 26:36Dayna Roselli: Like, it was an amazing experience.
- 26:38Dayna Roselli: But my personal, real quick experience with her was that at the I called the reception, the post, you know, after celebration.
- 26:45Dayna Roselli: She came over to my table.
- 26:46Dayna Roselli: We were standing over on the patio, and she came over to me and our friend Rachel Smith, and she said, you know, I she kind of said to her husband, I need some girl time.
- 26:54Dayna Roselli: And she came over and she just we were talking about, I don't even know what we're talking about, like exercise and things that we do, and we just had a fun conversation about nothing to do with shows, music, career, anything.
- 27:07Dayna Roselli: And she was just full of life, and I don't know anybody that could say a bad thing about Olivia Newton John, so she will be missed.
- 27:15Sean McAllister: There has been nobody who has been able to say a bad thing.
- 27:19Sean McAllister: She just exuded, I think her, you know, kind of her mantra and kind of catchphrase was love and light.
- 27:28Sean McAllister: I know.
- 27:29Sean McAllister: And and that's really what she exuded.
- 27:32Sean McAllister: And she is going to be, you know, dearly, dearly missed because she did have such a profound impact on the people she knew personally, on people who maybe she met just in passing, uh but even people who never had the chance to meet her in person, who know know her through her music, through film, through the stage.
- 27:59Sean McAllister: Like there is uh and has been an just such a strong connection, and I think people are are really feeling that.
- 28:08Sean McAllister: And it was uh the news that you know Olivia had passed away really just you know kind of took the wind out of people.
- 28:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it really did.
- 28:17Dayna Roselli: And I'm sure we're gonna see um continued coverage of her life and and the people she's impacted through the years, um, you know, all the magazines and and obviously news programs, and I'm sure we'll see extended coverage of that.
- 28:33Dayna Roselli: And people have enjoyed watching that, and I know you mentioned the other day, I mean her music right now is like some of the top ten downloaded music because everyone's revisiting those iconic songs.
- 28:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, I think 13 of the top 25 songs when I looked on Apple Music the other day were Olivia Newton John songs, nine of the top 25 albums on Apple Music were Olivia Newton John albums.
- 28:58Sean McAllister: So, I mean that just shows you how much, you know, music has a connection and brings back those memories.
- 29:05Sean McAllister: And, you know, there is a lot of love that can be shared through through the art that's created.
- 29:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, definitely.
- 29:11Dayna Roselli: Well, let's leave the podcast at that.
- 29:13Dayna Roselli: We're gonna move on now to do some tips, but again, we will miss Olivia Newton-John, one of the most, you know, incredible ladies and a wonderful Vegas headliner that Sean and I have both had the chance to meet and get to know Oh, that's some appropriate uh music to get us into our tips.
- 29:39Sean McAllister: I absolutely love that.
- 29:40Dayna Roselli: Changing it up a little bit this week.
- 29:42Sean McAllister: Uh kicking off our tips, we um there have been a lot of speakeasies that have popped up uh on the Las Vegas Strip, around Las Vegas over the past few years, and we visited one of the newest speakeasies this week.
- 29:59Sean McAllister: It's called uh Here Kitty Kitty Vice Den.
- 30:04Sean McAllister: And for a limited time right now, the name gets me, I don't know why.
- 30:08Sean McAllister: Kind of transitioned to Tokyo Vice Den.
- 30:11Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 30:12Dayna Roselli: So Here Kitty Kitty Vice Den is located at the famous food street eats, and that's in Resorts World, and it's kind of like this discreet location where the wall kind of opens up and you don't quite know that it's a speakeasy unless you know it's there.
- 30:30Sean McAllister: Yeah, it I mean it looks as you're walking by, it looks like it's just this little nook of tables where you can, you know, order your food, sit down, pull up a seat, um, and there's these bookshelves all around you.
- 30:47Sean McAllister: But if you lean against one of those bookshelves, the door opens.
- 30:51Sean McAllister: The door opens into a different world.
- 30:53Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 30:53Dayna Roselli: So Tokyo Vice Den is kind of a pop-up, and we say pop-up, because it's not going to be there, you know, forever.
- 30:59Dayna Roselli: But uh what's making it special is they have like Japanese-inspired decor, expertly crafted cocktails with the kind of that theme.
- 31:09Dayna Roselli: We had I had two cocktails, you had like three.
- 31:11Dayna Roselli: We tasted different ones, and the ones that I chose off the menu were delicious, and they were great at helping me pick because I was like, I don't want super sweet, but I like this, and and so I tried two, and one was really spicy, which I loved.
- 31:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's nice when there's a a kick in the cocktails, isn't it?
- 31:28Sean McAllister: Uh, House of Sun Troy is um the award-winning Japanese spirits brand that uh has helped curate this uh list of limited edition cocktails that you can get now at uh Tokyo Vice Den.
- 31:43Sean McAllister: And there are a lot of Japanese whiskies and sake and uh tons of really good spirits that are on the menu.
- 31:53Sean McAllister: And the the atmosphere in there is really cool too.
- 31:57Sean McAllister: It really does make you feel like you're in Japan, that you are in this little like backroom hidden getaway, escape.
- 32:10Dayna Roselli: I felt like I could have sat there for hours and hours and hours.
- 32:12Dayna Roselli: It was really comfortable too.
- 32:14Dayna Roselli: It was like the lighting's low, you know what I mean?
- 32:16Dayna Roselli: Like we had a nice little conversation.
- 32:18Dayna Roselli: It was it was good.
- 32:19Dayna Roselli: Um, I loved it.
- 32:21Dayna Roselli: You know, I thought it was a really cool thing, and and like you said, the decor was was great.
- 32:25Dayna Roselli: And again, you have to try and find it.
- 32:27Dayna Roselli: So now we've given you the tip, you're on your own to follow our directions and find Hear Kitty Kitty Weisen slash Tokyo Weissen for now.
- 32:38Dayna Roselli: When does this go, Dale Sean?
- 32:40Dayna Roselli: I forget.
- 32:40Dayna Roselli: November?
- 32:40Sean McAllister: Uh it goes through fall, yeah.
- 32:42Sean McAllister: Fall, okay.
- 32:43Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 32:44Sean McAllister: And if you go, um take some pictures and tag us.
- 32:47Sean McAllister: I we want to see what your experience is like.
- 32:50Dayna Roselli: And we'll have uh reels on our Instagram Reels video um that we'll put up sometime this weekend.
- 32:57Dayna Roselli: Another tip that we have has to do with food.
- 33:00Dayna Roselli: We had a delicious lunch this week at the Venetian Resort Las Vegas at Estiatorio Milos.
- 33:10Dayna Roselli: And we're just gonna call it Milos, though, okay, because it's easier.
- 33:13Sean McAllister: It is.
- 33:14Dayna Roselli: Because we even like We had to phonetically spelletically spell estiatorio.
- 33:19Sean McAllister: Estiatorio.
- 33:21Sean McAllister: Yes, I have a post-it note right in front of me.
- 33:24Dayna Roselli: So do I, or I'm almost on my computer.
- 33:26Dayna Roselli: But anyway, Milos is a great restaurant.
- 33:28Dayna Roselli: Um, we've talked about it before.
- 33:30Dayna Roselli: I've gone to dinner there, but we had lunch there, and Sean, we were like, here this is like a great tip because of the prefix specials they have.
- 33:39Sean McAllister: Yeah, I had no idea that there was going to be a prefix option on the menu.
- 33:45Sean McAllister: I was looking at all the options, and they have a lot of the same uh dishes that are available for dinner, available for lunch as well, just different portion sizes.
- 33:56Sean McAllister: Um, but when the server came over and asked if we wanted the prefix, I was like, whoa, wait a second.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:03Sean McAllister: That's a game changer.
- 34:04Sean McAllister: That's like perfect for lunch.
- 34:06Sean McAllister: It's a three-course prefix meal.
- 34:11Sean McAllister: You have a salad appetizer choice, an entree, and a dessert.
- 34:16Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 34:16Dayna Roselli: And for 38 bucks, which is incredible.
- 34:19Dayna Roselli: And Milos is a nice restaurant.
- 34:21Dayna Roselli: So when we say 38 bucks, that is a steal.
- 34:24Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 34:24Dayna Roselli: I mean, the fish is fresh, the ingredients.
- 34:27Dayna Roselli: I mean, the tomato salad they brought out was like I literally felt like it I was eating it out of the garden, and the oils and the salt.
- 34:34Dayna Roselli: It was delicious.
- 34:35Sean McAllister: I could eat cheese every day.
- 34:37Dayna Roselli: Every day.
- 34:38Dayna Roselli: That was so good.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: Um, and then I had uh you had a salmon and I had a fish.
- 34:45Dayna Roselli: I think a sea.
- 34:46Dayna Roselli: You had sea bass.
- 34:48Dayna Roselli: With capers on top.
- 34:50Dayna Roselli: We had a delicious dessert.
- 34:52Dayna Roselli: I had a Greek yogurt topped with uh some sort of fruit.
- 34:56Dayna Roselli: It was the most delicious thing I've ever had, I feel like.
- 34:58Dayna Roselli: I mean it was so good.
- 35:00Sean McAllister: And I had the baklava for dessert, and it was it it was amazing.
- 35:05Sean McAllister: Everything we had was just phenomenal.
- 35:09Sean McAllister: And what I love about Milos too is that it's so bright and airy, but also colorful.
- 35:17Sean McAllister: Like they have a fresh produce stand inside the restaurant where they're choosing their their fresh produce from, but everything is just so vibrantly colored.
- 35:29Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 35:30Dayna Roselli: You're right.
- 35:30Dayna Roselli: And and it was busy at lunch on a what day did we go?
- 35:34Dayna Roselli: Tuesday.
- 35:35Sean McAllister: Tuesday.
- 35:35Dayna Roselli: Tuesday, extremely busy, and now I know why.
- 35:38Dayna Roselli: It's such a comfortable place to have lunch.
- 35:41Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and our waiter, he'd say, Well, the Greek yogurt comes from over there.
- 35:44Dayna Roselli: We top it with the and like a level, everyone.
- 35:46Dayna Roselli: Then the fish, yeah, over there, you see it, and they were showing us the lay down on the I mean like the like every like direction you're looking, it's like that's where your food is coming from.
- 35:55Dayna Roselli: You know where you're getting your food.
- 35:56Sean McAllister: It's that fresh.
- 35:58Sean McAllister: It's not just gonna be like uh cut open from a vacuum-sealed bag from the freezer.
- 36:03Sean McAllister: No, no, no, no, no.
- 36:04Sean McAllister: It is like legit fresh.
- 36:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 36:08Dayna Roselli: And our friend had a vegetarian pasta, it looked absolutely delicious.
- 36:11Dayna Roselli: So it did.
- 36:12Dayna Roselli: So here's the deal.
- 36:12Dayna Roselli: So we talked to the staff and they said, you know what?
- 36:14Dayna Roselli: We have a twilight pre-fix dinner, too.
- 36:18Dayna Roselli: And we were like, tell us all about it.
- 36:19Dayna Roselli: So here is our tip.
- 36:20Dayna Roselli: Our tip three-course lunch, 38 bucks, a twilight dinner that they have, and we're saying uh twilight because that's what it's called, and it's from 5 to 7 p.m.
- 36:30Dayna Roselli: Okay, you gotta get in that window.
- 36:32Dayna Roselli: This is a four-course menu, dinner menu for$85.
- 36:40Dayna Roselli: And top of the line stuff, I mean, you really can't beat that.
- 36:45Dayna Roselli: Then we also found out they have wine dinners monthly, too.
- 36:50Dayna Roselli: So go to Milo's VenetianLosvegas.com for the details.
- 36:56Dayna Roselli: A plus.
- 36:57Sean McAllister: And by the way, for the Twilight Dinner, there is uh a wine pairing option for I believe it was$40 on top of the prefix price to do a wine pairing with every course that you get, um, which is, I mean,$40 for four different wine pairing.
- 37:17Sean McAllister: I mean, that's incredible.
- 37:19Sean McAllister: And$85 for I that's a great price.
- 37:24Sean McAllister: And you get pretty much your choice of like anything that's on the menu.
- 37:30Sean McAllister: I don't think they have a lot of exclusions for that.
- 37:34Sean McAllister: So great find.
- 37:36Sean McAllister: And you know, thank you to uh to our friend for for bringing us over there for lunch.
- 37:42Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that was great.
- 37:43Dayna Roselli: And now we know we'll be back, that's for sure.
- 37:47Dayna Roselli: Well, uh, want to remind everyone, real quick, Sean, before we head out, Vegas Near Me, a new app that has just launched, the beta version, is available for download.
- 37:58Dayna Roselli: Go to our show notes.
- 38:00Dayna Roselli: We have a link there.
- 38:01Dayna Roselli: It's our special Vegas revealed link.
- 38:04Dayna Roselli: You'll click it, you'll get an email with instructions on how you can be the first to test this app.
- 38:09Dayna Roselli: We want to see what you think.
- 38:10Dayna Roselli: This app is so cool.
- 38:12Sean McAllister: We've been using it uh for a couple months now.
- 38:16Sean McAllister: Right.
- 38:17Sean McAllister: Um, as the app has gone through, you know, various phases of development, and it's been so useful.
- 38:25Dayna Roselli: It has.
- 38:25Sean McAllister: In in so many uh, you know, different ways.
- 38:28Sean McAllister: When when I know I'm going to be in a part of town where I don't usually go, and I need to, you know, figure out what is available over there for either dinner food, dining, shopping, right, whatever, it's all on Vegas Near Me.
- 38:48Sean McAllister: So it is a great resource to have right in your palm of your hand.
- 38:51Dayna Roselli: And I think even you and I, as much as we know Las Vegas, we still sometimes need to think when like a situation comes up, right?
- 38:58Dayna Roselli: Like even when we were going to like Thunder from Down Under at the Excalibur, I was meeting some friends for dinner, and we said, where should we go around there?
- 39:04Dayna Roselli: I'm like, uh.
- 39:05Dayna Roselli: So I went to the Vegas Near Me app and I clicked in Near Excalibur.
- 39:10Dayna Roselli: Yep.
