- 0:00Speaker 1: Those guys. But anyway, yeah, you're right, you can't keep
- 0:02Speaker 1: track of who the hell's playing. I mean, Texas and
- 0:04Speaker 1: Oklahoma now playing all these SEC teams.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's just I know, it's just strange.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Let me just get one thing here and I don't
- 0:12Speaker 1: want to put in front of me. Okay, all right, else, Yeah,
- 0:16Speaker 1: we got about twenty seven minutes to do four segments. Okay,
- 0:19Speaker 1: here we go.
- 0:20Speaker 2: All right, you're rolling.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Welcome to the Yukon Football Coaches Show. Tuesday nights, we
- 0:28Speaker 1: get together with Jim Moore or recap what happened on
- 0:30Speaker 1: the weekend, look ahead to the opponent coming up, and
- 0:33Speaker 1: lots of good things coming out of that Saturday night.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I don't know what you want to call it, like
- 0:38Speaker 1: a runathon. Every time the ball was in Yukon's hands,
- 0:41Speaker 1: the ball was handed off and the ball went forward
- 0:43Speaker 1: and Yukon gained a record breaking them out of yards
- 0:46Speaker 1: on the ground and coach, it doesn't seem like it
- 0:50Speaker 1: matters who you gave the ball to because you're getting
- 0:53Speaker 1: positive yard is just about every time. How you know how,
- 0:56Speaker 1: I don't want to say relieving is that? But as
- 0:59Speaker 1: a coach standing there watching it, when your team's doing it.
- 1:02Speaker 1: What is that like?
- 1:05Speaker 2: It's nice. It feels good. You know, when you were
- 1:09Speaker 2: able to run the ball against anybody, you have a
- 1:12Speaker 2: you have a chance to kind of just take the
- 1:15Speaker 2: air out of them, especially when you're doing it at home,
- 1:18Speaker 2: when you're win. When you're doing it at home, it's great.
- 1:20Speaker 2: When you're doing it on the road, you know, you
- 1:22Speaker 2: get their crowd, you know, standing in their seats. It's just,
- 1:25Speaker 2: you know, it's really you go back and you look
- 1:28Speaker 2: at the genesis of football. It's all about that physicality
- 1:30Speaker 2: up front and being able to run the ball. Now,
- 1:33Speaker 2: I don't know that I've ever been in a game
- 1:34Speaker 2: where a team I've been associated with is run it
- 1:38Speaker 2: sixty six times. That's that's a lot. That surprised me. Uh.
- 1:43Speaker 2: But it's a great feeling, it really is, and I
- 1:44Speaker 2: think it just gives your team energy. But you know what,
- 1:48Speaker 2: it's not always going to be like that, And if
- 1:49Speaker 2: we have to throw it, I feel confident that we
- 1:51Speaker 2: can we can throw it as well. So but it's
- 1:55Speaker 2: good to it's good to go out and have a
- 1:58Speaker 2: dominant run game.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Jim Mora with us as the Hussy to go
- 2:01Speaker 1: two and two on a year, largest longest home stands
- 2:05Speaker 1: for Yukon since two thousand and four when they played
- 2:08Speaker 1: four in a row. You got five more here. But
- 2:11Speaker 1: I know the way you are, you're not looking ahead.
- 2:13Speaker 1: This Buffalo team three and one. Now, this is a
- 2:16Speaker 1: three and one start for them. They've been an FBS
- 2:19Speaker 1: team since nineteen ninety nine, but only three times. It's
- 2:23Speaker 1: the third time in twenty five years that they have
- 2:26Speaker 1: gotten off to a three and one start. So those
- 2:28Speaker 1: folks who are coaching the Bulls, I'm sure are preaching fellas,
- 2:33Speaker 1: this is our year.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Well, they're a good football team. You know. They play
- 2:39Speaker 2: the way that the game's supposed to be played. They're physical,
- 2:42Speaker 2: they're strong upfront, they tackle well. Offensively, they take care
- 2:46Speaker 2: of the ball, they commit to the run when they
- 2:49Speaker 2: throw it. They don't make errors in the passing game.
- 2:53Speaker 2: They played really good special teams. Their head coach is
- 2:55Speaker 2: a special teams coordinator before he became a head coach.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Along with that, you know, they're a MAC team, and
- 3:02Speaker 2: you know MAC teams are known to be gritty and tough,
- 3:06Speaker 2: and this team is gritty and tough. They're not gonna
- 3:09Speaker 2: They're not gonna give up. They're not gonna quit. They're
- 3:11Speaker 2: gonna keep fighting. They're gonna keep coming at you, and
- 3:14Speaker 2: it should be one heck of a good football game.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Bulls are not an explosive offensive team. They're averaging
- 3:21Speaker 1: about two sixty seven a game yardage wise, twenty two
- 3:25Speaker 1: points a game. But we're gonna talk about this as
- 3:28Speaker 1: we go on in the show tonight. They get after
- 3:31Speaker 1: you on defense. I mean, the tackle for loss numbers
- 3:34Speaker 1: are astounding to me. When I saw a couple of
- 3:37Speaker 1: guys have like nine eight tackles for loss, I mean,
- 3:40Speaker 1: that tells you that their defense is getting in the
- 3:43Speaker 1: backfield and making some things happen.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yeah, they get up the field, you know. They they
- 3:49Speaker 2: they attack, They'll get an edge on offensive lineman and
- 3:52Speaker 2: try to get up the field. And then they've got
- 3:53Speaker 2: two inside linebackers that come downhill fast and make plays
- 3:57Speaker 2: and they're very aggressive in the way they play defense
- 4:00Speaker 2: and it's impressive to watch. Got a lot of respect
- 4:04Speaker 2: for him.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Yeah, Sean Dolak, number fifty two, number two, Red Murdoch
- 4:08Speaker 1: are going to get your attention, that's for sure. On
- 4:10Speaker 1: the weekend, back to the Saturday night game, we all
- 4:15Speaker 1: talked about all the transfers everybody is bringing into their
- 4:18Speaker 1: program over that across the country. You kind of twenty
- 4:21Speaker 1: seven of them. I just counted, coach looking at some
- 4:24Speaker 1: stats and just looking at these first four games, you've
- 4:26Speaker 1: got at least fourteen of those transfers contributing mightily to
- 4:31Speaker 1: your team. And that's a pretty good percentage. I would
- 4:35Speaker 1: think if you were, you know, bringing guys in hoping
- 4:38Speaker 1: they're going to help you. I think Yukon has done
- 4:40Speaker 1: a pretty good job with their transfers.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yeah, we hit on some guys, you know, and that's
- 4:47Speaker 2: going to be critical, not only you know, this year,
- 4:50Speaker 2: but going forward, is being able to make sure that
- 4:54Speaker 2: we are able to evaluate quickly the guys that entered
- 4:57Speaker 2: the portal, get a feel for their personalit and their
- 5:00Speaker 2: motivation for being in the portal, and then have the
- 5:03Speaker 2: opportunity to bring them in. You know. One of the things,
- 5:05Speaker 2: as you know very well, and people probably already knows,
- 5:09Speaker 2: I've said it enough, that's helped us so much as
- 5:11Speaker 2: the ability to compete a little bit in the NIL space.
- 5:14Speaker 2: You know, the world of college football college athletics has
- 5:17Speaker 2: changed dramatically in the last few years, and and we
- 5:20Speaker 2: had some people that really stepped up this year and
- 5:25Speaker 2: helped us financially, which is, you know, a big risk
- 5:30Speaker 2: and something that's hard to do. And you know, we
- 5:33Speaker 2: did the best we could to bring in the right
- 5:35Speaker 2: types of people and the right types of players. And
- 5:37Speaker 2: as you said, a lot of these guys are paying off,
- 5:40Speaker 2: and there will be more that payoffs this season goes
- 5:43Speaker 2: on and as their careers going on. So I'm excited
- 5:46Speaker 2: about that.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah, someone a long time ago, back in American history
- 5:50Speaker 1: called this country the land of opportunity, and someone I
- 5:54Speaker 1: thought tagged you guys like that too, And in my mind,
- 5:57Speaker 1: that's really a great label in a sense. So like
- 6:00Speaker 1: if people look at you obviously know your background and
- 6:04Speaker 1: your ability and what you've done in the pros, all
- 6:06Speaker 1: that stuff, and then they look at Yukon Football and
- 6:08Speaker 1: they go, man, that's a land of opportunity. I can
- 6:11Speaker 1: go there and make some stuff happen that could go
- 6:13Speaker 1: a long way towards, you know, long term, making this
- 6:16Speaker 1: program very, very viable.
- 6:19Speaker 2: That's a great way to put it. There's a lot
- 6:21Speaker 2: of opportunity here and we have we have a really
- 6:25Speaker 2: good staff, We have really good people here on this campus.
- 6:29Speaker 2: We have tremendous support now from our alumni and and
- 6:34Speaker 2: boosters that are willing to make that financial commitment. And
- 6:37Speaker 2: it's a great place to live and go to school academically.
- 6:41Speaker 2: So there's tremendous opportunity here. And I know that as
- 6:44Speaker 2: we go on, our opportunities to be competitive in the
- 6:48Speaker 2: NIL space if it ends up being nil, if they
- 6:50Speaker 2: you know, we'll see if it's revenue sharing or nil.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Whenever all that's settled is only going to increase. So
- 6:58Speaker 2: I think, you know, if we can just stay on
- 7:01Speaker 2: point and not get off track, and stay focused on
- 7:06Speaker 2: the things we think are important, and we have a
- 7:08Speaker 2: chance to get better over the next few years.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Jim Moore with us, this is our choosing. I get
- 7:13Speaker 1: together the Yukon Football Coaches Show. We'll talk a little
- 7:16Speaker 1: bit later on with Chris Freeman, the place kicker that
- 7:18Speaker 1: came from Indiana, and Nick Evers, the quarterback who is
- 7:22Speaker 1: a Texas kid, was at Oklahoma in Wisconsin now at Yukon.
- 7:25Speaker 1: All that coming up as we can chinue our coverage
- 7:28Speaker 1: of Yukon football on lear Field
