- 0:02Speaker 1: All right, let's begin. Let's get on the floor. It's
- 0:06Speaker 1: time for Alana would to join us for the check up,
- 0:11Speaker 1: the uh the uh we're wellness check up? And Hi, Elena,
- 0:16Speaker 1: how are you today?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Gay there, I'm doing so good. How are you?
- 0:21Speaker 1: I'm great? Uh? So you want to talk about build
- 0:26Speaker 1: building resilience today? Can you just get a Can you
- 0:30Speaker 1: just get a kit somewhere and put it together and
- 0:33Speaker 1: call it good?
- 0:33Speaker 2: Or I mean that would be really really nice, And
- 0:38Speaker 2: you know, on on some websites there might be ways
- 0:42Speaker 2: to kind of build out a metaphysical kitka, probably not
- 0:47Speaker 2: something you can just pick up at your local gas
- 0:49Speaker 2: station or grocery store.
- 0:52Speaker 1: So resilience what what is? What is resilience?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, resilience is our ability to kind of bounce back
- 1:02Speaker 2: and come back even stronger, maybe from difficult times in life.
- 1:06Speaker 2: So our ability to navigate the emotional, physical ups and
- 1:11Speaker 2: downs of the world and still remain strong and able
- 1:15Speaker 2: to live our lives afterwards.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Well I should, so I should just now be getting
- 1:19Speaker 1: over the insults I suffered on the playground in the
- 1:23Speaker 1: sixth grade.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Well, this is part of resilience. Yeah, it's standing bullying things.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Like that, For sure, So how do you build resilience?
- 1:34Speaker 1: This is for yourself or maybe you can offer these
- 1:36Speaker 1: ideas to your children as well.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, And you know a big part of resilience
- 1:42Speaker 2: is kind of building up our reservoir of strength so
- 1:46Speaker 2: that when these difficult things do happen, we have that
- 1:49Speaker 2: to lean onto. So the first tip is, of course,
- 1:53Speaker 2: to take care of your physical health. And we've talked
- 1:56Speaker 2: about this so so much so drinking enough water, are
- 2:00Speaker 2: getting enough sleep, moving our body regularly. Having this really
- 2:04Speaker 2: strong base of physical well being is going to help
- 2:08Speaker 2: us be able to bounce back and take care of
- 2:11Speaker 2: our mental and emotional well being even better.
- 2:13Speaker 1: All right, So that's that's okay. I'm trying to check
- 2:17Speaker 1: off the things that I can't do, but I could
- 2:19Speaker 1: do that. I could probably okay, all right.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Next, yes, I believe in you.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Next is to build a community, reaching out, connecting to
- 2:28Speaker 2: people that you love, creating connection with people that you
- 2:33Speaker 2: are in proximity with, so folks in your neighborhood, the
- 2:36Speaker 2: people that you work with regularly, and then of course
- 2:40Speaker 2: just building up peer support groups and people that you
- 2:44Speaker 2: enjoy connecting with.
- 2:45Speaker 1: You know, it's it's interesting. I think I've lived a
- 2:47Speaker 1: lot of In a lot of places I've lived, I've
- 2:50Speaker 1: lived very close to other dwellings and really not known
- 2:55Speaker 1: or associated with the people that live. Yeah, yeah, I
- 2:58Speaker 1: don't really know.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Absolutely I am guilty of that too. I have, you know,
- 3:03Speaker 2: a handful of folks I'm really close with in my
- 3:05Speaker 2: neighborhood and some that I have never even talked to.
- 3:09Speaker 2: So it's it's an area that I have lots of
- 3:12Speaker 2: opportunity for growth.
- 3:13Speaker 1: What's next next is to lean.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Into your personal strengths and values, And a lot of
- 3:21Speaker 2: this boils down to just really trying our best to
- 3:24Speaker 2: be true to ourselves. So if we value creativity and fun,
- 3:29Speaker 2: or if we value traditional values, just really leaning into
- 3:35Speaker 2: that space and trying our best to make decisions that
- 3:40Speaker 2: align with those strengths and those values. I, for.
- 3:43Speaker 1: One, value values I truly do of course.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm so glad.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Yes. Next.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Next is, of course, to take steps to care for
- 3:53Speaker 2: your mental health, doing practices like meditation, gratitude, personal reflection,
- 4:01Speaker 2: and of course connecting with mental health professionals when needed.
- 4:06Speaker 1: When you mean like weekly, daily, yeah, I.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Mean there are some times in our life when it
- 4:14Speaker 2: might need it that much so for sure.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I had a friend who went to therapy almost every
- 4:19Speaker 1: day for a while. Really almost everything else, I gotta
- 4:24Speaker 1: do it or I won't make it through. All right,
- 4:27Speaker 1: what's next?
- 4:27Speaker 2: Plus the next is to take perspective and this is
- 4:32Speaker 2: simply an invitation to to have a growth mindset, So
- 4:37Speaker 2: recognizing that failure is temporary and that emotions and feelings
- 4:42Speaker 2: do not last forever. Of course, we don't want toxic
- 4:46Speaker 2: positivity like oh good vibes. Only we allow ourselves to
- 4:51Speaker 2: feel the frustration, to fill upset and also remember that
- 4:55Speaker 2: this is this is just a moment of frustration.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I'm very good at the frustration and being upset. I'm
- 5:02Speaker 1: very very good at that. You work in radio. Yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 1: that's right, Yeah, that's the one I'm best at. I
- 5:09Speaker 1: think of all the ones we've talked about, well, And
- 5:11Speaker 1: so where you know these are? You send us these
- 5:16Speaker 1: lists with the topics and is there any way people
- 5:20Speaker 1: can access those?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Yes? And yes you can learn more about this as
- 5:25Speaker 2: well as Nightingale's amazing programs by visiting Nightingale dot edu.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Simple as that they are also posted on our website
- 5:33Speaker 2: every single time we do so you can find them
- 5:35Speaker 2: at x ninety six dot com as well.
- 5:37Speaker 1: There you go. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Elena.
