- 0:39SPEAKER_04: Welcome in, everybody, to the Talking Tech Podcast, powered by the Nation, Part of the Nation Podcast Network.
- 0:43SPEAKER_04: I'm your host, Steven Rodriguez, my co-host Tristan McGonagall is here.
- 0:47SPEAKER_04: Tristan, basketball season, baby.
- 0:49SPEAKER_04: We're in March.
- 0:51SPEAKER_04: This is March.
- 0:53SPEAKER_05: Steven, I don't know what to do these past this today and tomorrow because Texas Tech is not playing on television in the Big 12 tournament.
- 1:03SPEAKER_05: Is that because we didn't do too well?
- 1:06SPEAKER_05: Is that because we seeded poorly?
- 1:07SPEAKER_05: Is that they're waiting for the worst teams to play, or do they save the best teams for later in the bracket?
- 1:13SPEAKER_05: I forget the system.
- 1:15SPEAKER_04: Au contraire.
- 1:17SPEAKER_04: It actually means I think so.
- 1:20SPEAKER_04: I think it's French.
- 1:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's French.
- 1:22SPEAKER_04: I know so.
- 1:23SPEAKER_04: Uh we're cultured.
- 1:25SPEAKER_04: Texas Tech is a top four seed in the Big 12 tournament, which means we get a glorious double buy to start off this Big 12 tournament.
- 1:36SPEAKER_04: Uh so we won't play till Thursday.
- 1:38SPEAKER_04: It has kicked off.
- 1:38SPEAKER_04: We're recording this on a Tuesday.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: The first two games have already been played.
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: We will play the winner of BYU and UCF.
- 1:49SPEAKER_05: All right, so a couple newbies, huh?
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're gonna get a new new blood here coming and playing Texas Tech as the four seed.
- 1:56SPEAKER_04: First off, we need to talk about Texas Tech being a four seed.
- 1:58SPEAKER_04: We tied with really, we tied with Baylor for the three seed.
- 2:02SPEAKER_04: They just had uh the tiebreaker, whatever it came.
- 2:05SPEAKER_04: We tied, tech and baylor tied, then it came to a secondary tiebreaker that Baylor won.
- 2:10SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 2:11SPEAKER_04: But what we tied for third in the Big 12 after a regular season.
- 2:17SPEAKER_04: That's what you need to know.
- 2:18SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 2:19SPEAKER_05: So is Graham Castlin?
- 2:22SPEAKER_05: Is Greg McCastlin is Graham McCastlin the greatest coach of all time?
- 2:26SPEAKER_05: Is he the goat?
- 2:28SPEAKER_05: Does he got horns?
- 2:29SPEAKER_05: Does he got a little cute little goat goatee?
- 2:31SPEAKER_05: You know, does he is he eating hay out there?
- 2:33SPEAKER_05: Is he a goat?
- 2:35SPEAKER_04: He's killing it.
- 2:36SPEAKER_05: That's what also does does he have an argument for being Big 12 coach of the year, or is that just flat out Samson at U of H?
- 2:43SPEAKER_04: It's all I put a tweet out there.
- 2:46SPEAKER_04: All three guys, Kelvin Samson at Houston, TJ Alzelberger at Iowa State, and Graham McCastlin at Texas Tech, all three of those guys deserve it.
- 2:54SPEAKER_04: You could realistically make an argument for all three of them.
- 2:58SPEAKER_04: Um, I think you have to give it to Samson, and they did give it to Samson because his team Houston was a freaking buzzsaw.
- 3:05SPEAKER_04: Like they were unbelievable for and to for them to move up a level, move up to the Big 12, do what they did, win it outright.
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: Like, you gotta give it to Samson.
- 3:15SPEAKER_04: I like Graham McCastlin on another most other years would have won, I think, but no, you got to give it to Kelvin Samson and the Koogs.
- 3:24SPEAKER_05: I mean, U of H is the best team in the country.
- 3:26SPEAKER_05: Is there really much of an argument against that now?
- 3:28SPEAKER_05: I mean, honestly.
- 3:29SPEAKER_04: I mean, I mean, some people are putting Purdue or Yukon over them.
- 3:32SPEAKER_04: I I don't know how you can look at that record and that uh strength of schedule that Houston played.
- 3:40SPEAKER_04: You know, Houston doesn't get to play uh a Minnesota.
- 3:44SPEAKER_04: Houston doesn't get to play, you know, an Indiana who was not very good this year, you know, uh Northwestern, whatever.
- 3:52SPEAKER_04: Like you, I guess you could argue West Virginia was terrible this year, Oklahoma State was terrible, but like they are a buzzsaw and they play in the best conference in the country.
- 4:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, dude, hot hats off.
- 4:04SPEAKER_05: Hats off to a newbie coming in and winning it first year.
- 4:07SPEAKER_05: I mean, I know obviously we're supposed to not like the Cugs at right now, but I I I I applaud it.
- 4:13SPEAKER_05: And I just I think it's a great show of strength for the conference and the sport that we're the best at.
- 4:17SPEAKER_05: So I I really I really really hats off to him and he's well deserving.
- 4:21SPEAKER_05: Um, I think obviously if you're just going off a pure talent and record-wise, it's it's got to go to Samson.
- 4:26SPEAKER_05: But I mean, obviously, they're coming into the Big 12 feeling hot and ready to go to begin with.
- 4:30SPEAKER_05: I mean, the the McCassin story is a different sort of approach because you're really looking at a team that was uh more or less in shambles due to the uh the fallout of the previous coach, and really which was feeling the fallout of the coach before that.
- 4:44SPEAKER_05: So it was like a double fallout.
- 4:46SPEAKER_05: Um, and so for him to come in and perform the way he did to unite this team, to unite the fan base and finish third in the toughest conference in the country and sending us dancing year one, I really don't know what more you could have asked of Grant year one.
- 5:04SPEAKER_05: And I think it's a great benchmark to set.
- 5:07SPEAKER_05: You know, he kind of he both you know did a great blessing upon his name to the rest of the fan base, but he also kind of cursed himself because now he's really set the expectation really high.
- 5:19SPEAKER_05: Because I think as a fan base, we would have expected a much lower benchmark year one.
- 5:24SPEAKER_05: Like I think we would have been mostly fairly satisfied with the mid-finish in the Big 12 and maybe scratching out a low seed in the March Madness, or you know, if we miss year one, we're like, eh, it's year one.
- 5:35SPEAKER_05: But he really set a standard that will now be expected to be met going forward.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, you make a good point.
- 5:43SPEAKER_04: It's the argument you can make for Grant McCastlon being Big 12 coach of the year is the injuries that he and his team dealt with the entire year.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: I mean, you lost a starter before Big 12 play started in Devin Cambridge.
- 5:56SPEAKER_04: You managed to overcome that.
- 5:57SPEAKER_04: You lost Warren Washington for I think six total Big 12 games.
- 6:02SPEAKER_04: Um you were you were down players constantly.
- 6:06SPEAKER_04: You went through that flu bug about midway through conference.
- 6:09SPEAKER_04: I mean, he clearly them in can Texas Tech and Kansas really dealt with the most injuries throughout the entire season.
- 6:16SPEAKER_04: And for Grant to do that, with how if you look at our roster and you say, who can we not win without?
- 6:25SPEAKER_04: You would point out the big guys.
- 6:27SPEAKER_04: You'd point out Warren Washington, you'd point out Devin Cambridge, and yet we still managed to win games with those guys being out and not on the floor.
- 6:35SPEAKER_04: You won that TCU game, you won that Baylor game without really important pieces to your team.
- 6:41SPEAKER_04: Houston did not have that same injury luck.
- 6:44SPEAKER_04: You know, Iowa State did not have that same injury luck.
- 6:46SPEAKER_04: So that's the only real argument I think you could make.
- 6:49SPEAKER_04: But uh the peer dominance that Houston showed this year really took him over the top, and I'm fine with that.
- 6:54SPEAKER_04: Like honestly, I I don't think Grant McCassin's worried about that.
- 6:58SPEAKER_04: I don't think this Texas Tech team is worried about accolades.
- 7:00SPEAKER_04: Uh, they're nice to have, but ultimately it's about what happens from here on.
- 7:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, absolutely.
- 7:08SPEAKER_05: And obviously, this is where the real fun part of the season really starts here in the postseason.
- 7:12SPEAKER_05: So uh I'm really excited, man.
- 7:14SPEAKER_05: Uh, he's obviously proven to be a winner in the postseason as well.
- 7:17SPEAKER_05: Britain taken home at the NIT title last year with North Texas.
- 7:20SPEAKER_05: Obviously, different sort of bracket.
- 7:22SPEAKER_05: Uh, I'm not gonna deny that, but just obviously the man knows how to keep his players motivated and keep their head in the game, even whenever it's just for pride at the end of the year.
- 7:33SPEAKER_05: I'm I'm excited to see what he can do whenever there's actually a real goal in some serious hardware on the line.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: That Baylor game was really impressive to end off the year.
- 7:43SPEAKER_04: Um, he had his team rolling, he had the guys on a different level um without Warren, which is huge.
- 7:52SPEAKER_04: Because I was I was upset that Warden couldn't play for multitude of reasons.
- 7:56SPEAKER_04: I mean, obviously, you need him back to be the best team that you can be, but for him to miss senior day, it really sucked.
- 8:03SPEAKER_04: Um, and for him, he was going up against a really good big guy in Eves Misi for Baylor that we could have used him at.
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: But I I just like I was so impressed coming out of that Baylor game.
- 8:16SPEAKER_04: It was a complete 180 from that rough stretch that they had before that with the UCF, Texas, and first part of West Virginia.
- 8:24SPEAKER_04: That we're rolling at the right time.
- 8:26SPEAKER_04: I mean, we're winners, winners of three straight, we're back in the top 25.
- 8:29SPEAKER_04: This is uh a really good time to be rolling if you're a Texas tech.
- 8:34SPEAKER_04: So I'm I'm definitely taking that into account.
- 8:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah, a good springboard.
- 8:38SPEAKER_05: I mean, a nice slate to end the regular season off with.
- 8:41SPEAKER_05: I mean, you play some real doo-doo there at the end, uh at the doo-doo's homes.
- 8:47SPEAKER_05: But yeah, at least, you know, you like you just said, you put a one a big one over a ranked opponent, uh ranked rival even uh in Baylor.
- 8:54SPEAKER_05: And that's just incredibly uh impressive to keep these the young men's eyes on the prize.
- 8:59SPEAKER_05: Um, but why are we ranked, Steven?
- 9:01SPEAKER_05: We're surrounded by these ranked teams.
- 9:03SPEAKER_05: Where's our number?
- 9:04SPEAKER_04: We're there, we're back, we're there now, we're number 25.
- 9:08SPEAKER_04: Let's go.
- 9:09SPEAKER_04: It was it was ridiculous.
- 9:10SPEAKER_04: When you were looking at the Big 12 standings, they showed, I think, Kansas and BYU, Baylor, Houston, Iowa State, Texas Tech.
- 9:18SPEAKER_04: Texas Tech was the only one that wasn't ranked.
- 9:20SPEAKER_04: And yet Texas Tech had uh we were tied with Baylor.
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: If you look at the overall record, if you look at the conference record, we were tied with Baylor.
- 9:27SPEAKER_04: It just happened to be at the at that point in the season, you know, you're coming off that rough stretch.
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: Uh, you know, some of these teams never really had that two, three-game losing streak that Tech may have had.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: So whatever AP rankings or AP rankings, I think we're underrated.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: And I think that's kind of growing on some people.
- 9:46SPEAKER_04: I've been seeing some Twitter stuff with bracketologists and stuff like that saying, like, you know, Texas Tech could be that team that ends up being, you know, the best of the of the seven seeds or the best of the six seeds or the better, whatever wherever they're gonna place us.
- 10:01SPEAKER_04: I think people are high on us right now.
- 10:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you're you're absolutely right.
- 10:04SPEAKER_05: I hear looking at this refreshed um standings here.
- 10:07SPEAKER_05: It is funny to see number three, Texas Tech in the Big 12, number 25.
- 10:13SPEAKER_05: And then you go to the next team, BYU 20, Kansas, number 16.
- 10:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so it's just it though, it's kind of funny looking at the rankings, seeing this uh lower uh ranked team above the rest here.
- 10:25SPEAKER_05: So, but uh regardless, good to see the number next door name just to show us that the media is giving us some love at least.
- 10:31SPEAKER_05: Um, but I mean keep us keep keep that hunger for us.
- 10:35SPEAKER_05: So uh we always like performing as underdogs, so uh I don't I don't mind it either way.
- 10:39SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 10:39SPEAKER_04: Just want to give a quick shout out since we're kind of ending off on Baylor.
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: Shout out Warren and Joe Tucson, seniors, guys that are not going to return next year for Texas Tech.
- 10:49SPEAKER_04: Um, really important pieces.
- 10:51SPEAKER_04: I mean, guys that came in for one year.
- 10:54SPEAKER_04: We've had uh many of those over the last several years of guys that have made such an impact on the basketball program after just one season in the red and black.
- 11:02SPEAKER_04: You talk about Matt Mooney, Tariq Owens, Bryson Williams, you know, all these guys that have come in for just one year that really have built this program back up to what it needs to be.
- 11:14SPEAKER_04: And that's an a consistent NCAA tournament contender.
- 11:16SPEAKER_04: So shout out to Warren and Joe.
- 11:18SPEAKER_05: Sir, if they could replicate those young men that you mentioned, uh their their success in the March Mandis run, I think uh the legacy is once more sealed in history there.
- 11:30SPEAKER_05: So I I'll take that all day.
- 11:33SPEAKER_04: Absolutely, 100%.
- 11:34SPEAKER_04: Um, speaking of back farts, thank you, old farts, for coming in 23, 24 years old, old farts.
- 11:41SPEAKER_05: Old farts people even now.
- 11:45SPEAKER_04: Don't talk about that.
- 11:46SPEAKER_04: We don't need to get in that.
- 11:47SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 11:48SPEAKER_05: I don't know a lot of listeners are like, shut up, E20 something, but like it is it is it is funny.
- 11:54SPEAKER_05: Um, like looking at these kids uh and being like, oh wow, they're they're actually a good amount of young.
- 12:00SPEAKER_05: There's some of them are 10 years younger than us at this point.
- 12:02SPEAKER_04: So it's it's definitely it's definitely a transition.
- 12:05SPEAKER_04: I think about this with like I'm a Spurs fan, obviously.
- 12:08SPEAKER_04: I think about this with Wenpinyama, he's 20 years old.
- 12:11SPEAKER_04: I'm like, I idolize this guy who is seven years younger than me right now.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: Like, I like cannot like I would flip shit if I'm like in his presence, and I'm like, I shouldn't be feeling that way, right?
- 12:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I can't even buy this guy a beer, and here I am, you know.
- 12:27SPEAKER_04: Here I am.
- 12:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:29SPEAKER_04: Oh, but um, you know, moving on, these guys did receive a uh some accolades from the Big 12.
- 12:37SPEAKER_04: The Big 12 uh uh teams and conference and player of the years came out.
- 12:41SPEAKER_04: Um, Texas Tech was present in some of these.
- 12:44SPEAKER_04: Darien Williams, Pop Isaacs were named uh all Big 12 third team.
- 12:48SPEAKER_04: Joe Tucson got an honorable mention.
- 12:51SPEAKER_04: Darien Williams was also part of the all-newcomer team for the Big 12.
- 12:55SPEAKER_04: So uh a little bit of a little bit of love.
- 12:57SPEAKER_04: I I could you could argue that some of those guys deserve maybe a second team, or even in Joe's case, deserve to be on the third team.
- 13:05SPEAKER_04: We didn't get anybody on the all-defensive team, which I thought Joe also deserved to be on the all-defensive team, whether it's first or second.
- 13:12SPEAKER_04: But regardless, uh, really good year for those guys.
- 13:16SPEAKER_04: I don't think I think it was fair because we didn't have a real standout player.
- 13:20SPEAKER_04: You know, pop would have been that guy if he didn't have such his big slump uh, you know, in the middle of the season.
- 13:26SPEAKER_04: But um, you know, still nice to see Darion Pop and uh and Joe get some love.
- 13:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I was gonna ask if you thought that was fair.
- 13:32SPEAKER_05: And sounds like you think that the uh journos were on point then, huh?
- 13:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean I think overall they got it they got it right.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: Uh I I would have put Joe personally on the on the all-defensive team at some, you know, at what whether it's first or second team.
- 13:48SPEAKER_04: I think pop probably deserves second team.
- 13:51SPEAKER_04: Um, all big 12, but whatever.
- 13:54SPEAKER_04: It's just uh it's just semantics at that point, you know.
- 13:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:58SPEAKER_04: So uh like we said, Kelvin Sampson wins coach of the year.
- 14:01SPEAKER_04: I believe Graham McCasson got a vote or two, but uh overall it's just you know, you weren't gonna beat out what Houston's done.
- 14:09SPEAKER_05: Hey, how about you uh go and get coach of NCAA coach of the year, my friend?
- 14:14SPEAKER_05: Good luck.
- 14:14SPEAKER_05: How about that?
- 14:15SPEAKER_05: Hey, Grant, make a make a tourney run.
- 14:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah, make a make one run, buddy.
- 14:20SPEAKER_04: Although I do think they vote on that before the tournament is ending, so I don't know if he'll end up doing anything.
- 14:26SPEAKER_05: Hey, hey, hey, I mean, I I all I'm saying, Grant, is if we're looking at buying tickets to uh say Arizona here in a few weeks, I I'm thinking things up on that on that part.
- 14:38SPEAKER_05: I would not be mad.
- 14:40SPEAKER_05: Speaking of, make me do that, please.
- 14:42SPEAKER_04: Speaking of tournaments, we'll get to the NCA tournament here in a second, but the Big 12 tournament is here.
- 14:47SPEAKER_04: We are playing on Thursday.
- 14:49SPEAKER_04: I believe we're the first game on Thursday, like I said earlier, playing the winner of BYU UCF.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: Probably gonna be BYU, I imagine.
- 14:58SPEAKER_04: BYU, good team, ranked team.
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: Uh, you know, they played us really well in Lubbock.
- 15:03SPEAKER_04: We had to have a double-digit comeback to beat them.
- 15:07SPEAKER_04: Uh, if we manage to somehow beat uh the winner of that game, we will play the winner of somehow.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: I'm just saying, some if we beat if we beat BYU or UCF, whoever comes out of that, we will play the winner of Houston and either TCU or Oklahoma.
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: So TCU and Oklahoma play tomorrow, they will play Houston, and then uh we will be matched up if we continue to win.
- 15:32SPEAKER_05: You gotta imagine UCF is feeling beisty, though.
- 15:35SPEAKER_05: You gotta you gotta imagine they're the ones putting their chips in, you know.
- 15:38SPEAKER_05: Because they're they're they're they're they're they're a bubble team, are they not?
- 15:41SPEAKER_04: They kicked Oklahoma State's ass today, and Oklahoma State's bad.
- 15:45SPEAKER_04: They're bad.
- 15:46SPEAKER_04: And UCF was clearly a step up from Oklahoma State.
- 15:49SPEAKER_04: They're not quite on the bubble, which I is more of a reason for them to be motivated to win these games in the Big 12 tournament to get that auto bid.
- 15:57SPEAKER_04: So I I mean, honestly, you probably do want to play BYU instead of UCF if you're Texas Tech here because you know of the motivation factor, BYU may not be uh, you know, as motivated to win.
- 16:11SPEAKER_05: No, absolutely.
- 16:12SPEAKER_05: Uh so we were just talking kind of all season honors here.
- 16:17SPEAKER_05: What about little uh talking tech all season honor here for what was really the most surprising team in the Big 12?
- 16:24SPEAKER_05: You know, as we're talking about BYU, is it BYU?
- 16:26SPEAKER_05: Were they the most surprising team of the year, you think, or was it Iowa State?
- 16:30SPEAKER_04: I think it's still Iowa State for how good that team was with when you look at that roster and you look at the talent and you look at the players that they're putting on the floor.
- 16:40SPEAKER_04: That team should not have finished second in the Big 12.
- 16:42SPEAKER_04: They shouldn't have.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: They're a really tough-minded program, defensive oriented.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: Reminds me of some of those, you know, late 2010s Texas Tech teams that were just hard nose and played hard every night.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: They have a really good culture under TJ Otzelberger.
- 16:58SPEAKER_04: Like that team surprised the hell out of me.
- 17:01SPEAKER_04: I I think I predicted them to be like seventh or sixth in the Big 12, and for them to be straight up the second best team, and it wasn't even close, like they are the second best team in the Big 12.
- 17:13SPEAKER_04: They that's the most surprising team.
- 17:16SPEAKER_05: Hardest working team and the hardest working coaching polos you've ever seen on the court, night in and night out.
- 17:22SPEAKER_04: Brother, it doesn't take that much, just go up a size, just what just swear large, homie.
- 17:27SPEAKER_04: I get it, I get it.
- 17:28SPEAKER_04: TJ, I get it that you're jacked.
- 17:30SPEAKER_04: I I would want to show that off too.
- 17:33SPEAKER_04: But I mean, come on, man.
- 17:34SPEAKER_04: It's like you're in the schmedium range, you need to be in the large range.
- 17:38SPEAKER_05: We got we gotta get you in a large, my friend.
- 17:42SPEAKER_04: No, his uh he's done a fantastic job this year.
- 17:45SPEAKER_04: BYU is up there though.
- 17:47SPEAKER_04: I mean, they've really under Mark Pope, I don't think anybody really expected them to finish top half of the conference.
- 17:53SPEAKER_04: I think they were predicted kind of in the 11-10 range potentially, but they've had a really good season.
- 18:00SPEAKER_04: They have put together uh a string of really good wins.
- 18:03SPEAKER_04: I mean, they beat Kansas.
- 18:05SPEAKER_04: Uh, I think they've they played it really tight with Houston in Provo, almost won that one.
- 18:10SPEAKER_04: So they're a scary team.
- 18:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and I mean they tied Kansas in the final standing, so that's that's kind of funny.
- 18:16SPEAKER_05: Um, and just looks like an electric atmosphere over there in Proverb Provo in a big arena.
- 18:20SPEAKER_05: So good, like like we say every time, they were a good ad.
- 18:24SPEAKER_05: And I've been vouching for their addition for years.
- 18:27SPEAKER_05: So you're welcome, PYU.
- 18:29SPEAKER_05: You're you're so welcome.
- 18:31SPEAKER_04: Great, great ad.
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: Uh we should mention Texas Tech has not done well in the Big 12 tournament historically.
- 18:39SPEAKER_04: They haven't, uh, even with some of the best teams.
- 18:42SPEAKER_04: That 2019 team that went to the Final Four, out in the first round of the Big 12 tournament.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: Like it's it's just not something that Texas Tech has been historically really good at.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: And honestly, that's fine.
- 18:53SPEAKER_04: When you're looking at the grand scheme of things, the Big 12 tournament is like a third-tier accolade that you want.
- 19:00SPEAKER_04: Like, if you win the Big 12 tournament, it's like a okay, cool.
- 19:04SPEAKER_04: It's not like a yes, we've won the whole thing, we're the greatest team, you know.
- 19:08SPEAKER_04: Like, no, it's it's a tournament at the end of the year, the regular season matters more, the NCA tournament matters more.
- 19:14SPEAKER_05: Which is funny because it it seems like it's a pretty big deal.
- 19:17SPEAKER_05: Like it's quite the events, the Big 12 tournament over there in Kansas City.
- 19:22SPEAKER_05: And it feels like every single year we argue about it being in Kansas City as well.
- 19:26SPEAKER_05: So there's a lot surrounding it, but at the end of the day, it's just really all it's ever seemed to me is a way for the conference to stick in more teams into the March Madness.
- 19:36SPEAKER_05: That's what it's always seemed like to me.
- 19:38SPEAKER_05: Um, because any real fan would never consider the tournament the real conference champion.
- 19:44SPEAKER_05: And I would I would even say that if Tech went and won this like that does not count.
- 19:48SPEAKER_05: Like, yes, it's nice, it's a nice trophy, but we are not the Big 12 champions or the tournament champion.
- 19:53SPEAKER_04: Houston won the Big 12.
- 19:54SPEAKER_04: Yes, Houston won the Big 12.
- 19:55SPEAKER_04: That's Houston won the Big 12.
- 19:56SPEAKER_04: If Houston also wins the Big 12 tournament, I mean, you know, cool.
- 20:00SPEAKER_04: Awesome.
- 20:00SPEAKER_04: That's like a bonus.
- 20:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's a bonus.
- 20:02SPEAKER_04: It doesn't matter.
- 20:03SPEAKER_04: If Baylor wins the Big 12 tournament, they're not the Big 12 champion.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: Houston is still the Big 12 champion.
- 20:07SPEAKER_04: That's how it works.
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: Um, I I do I like I like and I dislike the how different fan bases rank what this means to win the Big 12 tournament because it is in a singular area of this conference that take it more seriously than others.
- 20:26SPEAKER_05: I mean Midwest teams, yeah.
- 20:28SPEAKER_04: The Midwest teams, it matters more to them uh than it does to the teams outside of that.
- 20:32SPEAKER_04: And I think again, that's fine.
- 20:34SPEAKER_04: Like you call call the Kansas City Arena Hilton South, uh, you know, Kansas fans show up, Kansas State fans show up, but uh ultimately, like it doesn't matter that much.
- 20:45SPEAKER_05: No, no, no, absolutely not.
- 20:47SPEAKER_05: It is there's kind of this like weird uh culty following of it as well of like like demanding it's in Kansas City.
- 20:54SPEAKER_05: I'm not saying move it either, but there's people that are saying let's move the Big 12 championship to Arrowhead.
- 20:59SPEAKER_05: It's like let's make KC the hub of the Big 12.
- 21:02SPEAKER_05: It's like let's all right, let's let's feather the brakes here, my friends.
- 21:05SPEAKER_05: It's it's not even technically in a Big 12 state at this point, so let's let's relax.
- 21:11SPEAKER_05: But yeah, um hey, I think it's cool.
- 21:14SPEAKER_05: I mean, why not?
- 21:14SPEAKER_05: At this point, it's more of a tradition thing than any way to anything to keep it there.
- 21:18SPEAKER_05: But I really don't know if it would suck that much if any of these events got rotated into Las Vegas.
- 21:24SPEAKER_05: Because I think more than anything, the Big 12 has a pretty good claim on Las Vegas now.
- 21:27SPEAKER_05: And I mean, why the heck not?
- 21:29SPEAKER_05: Why the heck not get some uh love in there for some for something here and there?
- 21:33SPEAKER_05: But uh kind of like uh Media Days is going over there, yeah.
- 21:36SPEAKER_05: Uh the upcoming this summer.
- 21:38SPEAKER_05: So uh, but yeah, I mean I don't think you you catch you and I ever getting into a passionate argument about the tournament location.
- 21:46SPEAKER_04: No, and I think what what some people do they dislike that it's not rotated.
- 21:50SPEAKER_04: I could argue that it builds more of a camaraderie and more of a tradition, which is far and few between in college sports these days of finding.
- 22:00SPEAKER_04: Traditions that it's in the same place consistently.
- 22:03SPEAKER_04: So I like that part of it.
- 22:04SPEAKER_04: Uh, it gives the Midwest teams really uh a firm grasp on this conference, and you know, I think it's helped them kind of embrace the conference a little more to have something of their own.
- 22:14SPEAKER_04: You know, everything's not everything doesn't have to be in Dallas, everything doesn't have to be in Vegas.
- 22:18SPEAKER_04: Just because it's more equidistant to everything, it gives those teams that really care about this kind of a something that they can have, which I'm cool with.
- 22:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah, in the same vein, like I actually was displeased when the Big 12 moved the Big 12 baseball tournament out of Oklahoma City and into Arlington.
- 22:37SPEAKER_05: I thought that was a poor move because I think a minor league baseball park is actually the perfect place to have these sorts of things.
- 22:44SPEAKER_05: Um, one, because you get though you give those regions more love that normally don't get that sort of attention.
- 22:50SPEAKER_05: And B, you're never gonna you're not gonna fill up a major league ballpark with college baseball fans like that.
- 22:57SPEAKER_05: It's just it's not gonna happen, um, no matter what it is.
- 23:00SPEAKER_05: Like even the even the ballpark that we play the national championship in college baseball is is a minor league ballpark.
- 23:05SPEAKER_05: So it's it's I think that's great.
- 23:07SPEAKER_05: I think it's great that it's in Omaha, and we should have kept it in Bricktown, Oklahoma City.
- 23:11SPEAKER_05: So, but uh that's just my two cents.
- 23:13SPEAKER_05: Not everything needs to be in a uh major league venue.
- 23:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I agree.
- 23:17SPEAKER_04: I think uh baseball's a sport that's very regionalized, and uh, you're just not gonna travel far.
- 23:23SPEAKER_04: Now, you're gonna have those diehards that are gonna travel no matter where you're going to watch Texas Tech play baseball, uh, or whoever play baseball.
- 23:31SPEAKER_04: But yeah, it's just not a sport that you're gonna go travel uh you know, state by state to go watch your team.
- 23:38SPEAKER_04: So I liked I liked it being in Oklahoma City.
- 23:41SPEAKER_04: We actually attended, I can't remember the year that we went, but we went uh during college, it was like 2015 or 16 that we went.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um, it was a good time, it was fun.
- 23:49SPEAKER_04: There, you know, smaller ballparks, it's it's better for the atmosphere in that situation.
- 23:54SPEAKER_04: Having it at the Texas Rangers place, it's just like it's too big, guys.
- 23:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's way too big for that for that particular event.
- 24:02SPEAKER_05: And it's indoors and all that.
- 24:04SPEAKER_05: It's just like this is this isn't right.
- 24:06SPEAKER_05: This isn't this isn't what it's supposed to be.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: That's unpopular with Red Raider fans, and we'll we'll eat that because uh so many Red Raider fans are in DFW, it's easy for them to get there, but uh ultimately like it doesn't make for a great product.
- 24:20SPEAKER_05: No, no.
- 24:20SPEAKER_05: I I I do I do love it in a minor league uh ballpark and in a place where we're normally not.
- 24:25SPEAKER_05: I do I do like that the football championship is in DFW, and I think that's where it should remain as long as we can.
- 24:31SPEAKER_05: But other than that, spread the love, dude.
- 24:33SPEAKER_05: Spread the love.
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: I agree, I agree.
- 24:36SPEAKER_04: Um, the best thing that they're doing at the Big 12 championship, they brought back the food.
- 24:41SPEAKER_05: The food is cool, dude.
- 24:42SPEAKER_04: The food, that's a great freaking idea for them to bring have everybody have their individual food option for the Big 12 tournament.
- 24:51SPEAKER_04: That was one of the really cool things that your mark instituted.
- 24:54SPEAKER_05: Absolutely, dude.
- 24:55SPEAKER_05: I think I I I love seeing all the posts online.
- 24:57SPEAKER_05: I love the guys that go and like, all right, today I'm doing this and that, and they just have like the review and everything.
- 25:02SPEAKER_05: I will say it was pretty dang hilarious, though.
- 25:05SPEAKER_05: Like all these ultra creative and uh very variety, uh a whole lot of variety from each school to uh give give the the the consumer something different at the at the games.
- 25:16SPEAKER_05: It was so funny to see Kansas State be literally a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, like an uncrustable.
- 25:22SPEAKER_05: That was so funny.
- 25:25SPEAKER_05: And I was like, all right, all right, yeah.
- 25:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, DJ, baby.
- 25:31SPEAKER_04: Let's go.
- 25:33SPEAKER_04: Kansas State, Kansas State now just has to have the funniest food option from now on because they got they got absolutely roasted for that hot dog that they had last year.
- 25:43SPEAKER_04: Yes, the Wabash hot dog with like the the cannon dog with like the the bacon over it was like a bacon wrapped hot dog, it had some like purple crap on it, yeah.
- 25:59SPEAKER_04: It was clear that they just like boiled the hot dog and like hoped the bacon cooked with it.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: All the pictures were awful of it last year.
- 26:07SPEAKER_05: They need to keep it going.
- 26:09SPEAKER_05: They and I I just love that it was just an uncrustable this year.
- 26:13SPEAKER_05: They're like they fry, they just toss in the fryer real quick and give it to you to heat it up.
- 26:17SPEAKER_05: Like, that is so funny, dude.
- 26:19SPEAKER_05: Every time I see the picture of the cannon dog that's purple, like that got the purple relish on it.
- 26:23SPEAKER_05: I immediately think of remember in the 2000s, whatever I think it was Haynes doing the weird colors, yeah, ketchup and mustard.
- 26:30SPEAKER_04: It was the Shrek one.
- 26:31SPEAKER_04: I know Shrek, yeah.
- 26:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's like a Shrek themed one.
- 26:34SPEAKER_04: It was like green and purple ketchup.
- 26:36SPEAKER_04: Was the purple Shrek 2?
- 26:37SPEAKER_05: I didn't know if they're like, wow, where this is this is a hit.
- 26:39SPEAKER_05: Let's keep going with weird colors.
- 26:41SPEAKER_04: Well, well, I what I think they they originally came out with like a red, like the red ketchup and then the purple ketchup, and that was like to just like switch it up a little bit, and then like Shrek 2 came out, and they were like, Oh, we're gonna use this.
- 26:53SPEAKER_04: This is a marketing scheme, we're gonna make green ass ketchup, and the kids are gonna love it.
- 26:58SPEAKER_05: That's what I immediately I think of it every single time, whenever I see that is the because I wanted it so bad, and I don't think my parents ever let me get it.
- 27:07SPEAKER_04: So no, we got the purple ketchup at least once or twice.
- 27:10SPEAKER_04: It was yeah, it was gross when you're looking at it.
- 27:15SPEAKER_05: Your parents really took one on doing that, dude.
- 27:17SPEAKER_05: They really they probably didn't eat anything with ketchup until that thing was gone.
- 27:21SPEAKER_04: They're probably okay.
- 27:23SPEAKER_04: I'm good.
- 27:25SPEAKER_05: The thing about ketchup, dude, is you you buy one bottle of ketchup, that thing is in there for years.
- 27:32SPEAKER_05: Like it moves with you, dude.
- 27:35SPEAKER_05: You move homes with your ketchup.
- 27:38SPEAKER_05: We don't throw ketchup away most of those condiments.
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: I mean, you if you buy like unless you have kids, obviously, like that go through that stuff pretty consistently.
- 27:47SPEAKER_04: If you're just like you and your wife, we have to buy the small ass thing of mustard or the small ass thing of ketchup because like you are it's gonna just stay in the fridge, it just stays there, it's gonna take up real estate.
- 28:00SPEAKER_05: Um, and I mean, I don't think whataburger makes the small ketchup bar.
- 28:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's true.
- 28:05SPEAKER_04: It's got only the spicy, yeah.
- 28:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and that's the only one I'll buy, of course.
- 28:09SPEAKER_05: So it's it takes up real estate, and I know I'll have it for a decade.
- 28:16SPEAKER_04: You should probably check the expiration on that, my guy.
- 28:18SPEAKER_04: I don't know if that shit expires, but uh the last thing that I want to point out on the food BYU had a churro.
- 28:26SPEAKER_04: Um why I why why why did BYU have a churro?
- 28:32SPEAKER_04: I get that some of the schools have to have some sort of dessert, but what what what's the significance there?
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: Why is it why is it a churro?
- 28:39SPEAKER_04: It now it sounds delicious.
- 28:41SPEAKER_04: It's a caramel filled churro, sweet cream drizzle, mini marshmallow, cinnamon sugar, toffee crumble.
- 28:47SPEAKER_04: So, like bomb ass churro it sounds fantastic, but why is it BYU?
- 28:53SPEAKER_05: I is it like the Cosmo churro?
- 28:57SPEAKER_05: Are they like wall cute like that?
- 29:00SPEAKER_04: It's called Cosmo's churro, but like okay, but what what does Cosmo have to do with it?
- 29:07SPEAKER_05: I mean, I I Stephen I do not want to make any assumptions about the demographics of Brigham Young University.
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: Fair, fair.
- 29:16SPEAKER_05: But I I just I feel like I'm not gonna run into a lot of Steven Rodriguez's on Brigham York University's camp campus, all right?
- 29:24SPEAKER_05: I'm not I'm just saying I don't I don't know how many uh how many Hispanic friends we got there.
- 29:32SPEAKER_04: All I'm saying is that milkshake was right there.
- 29:35SPEAKER_04: Some sort of some sort of milkshake was right there.
- 29:38SPEAKER_05: That would be so Mormon, too.
- 29:40SPEAKER_05: That'd be like perfect, dude.
- 29:42SPEAKER_04: It would have been mimicked.
- 29:44SPEAKER_04: Just how about just classic classic vanilla milkshake is what it should have been for BYU.
- 29:50SPEAKER_05: That would have been perfect.
- 29:51SPEAKER_05: Churro just sounds too spicy, you know.
- 29:54SPEAKER_05: It's too much.
- 29:55SPEAKER_05: Utah, Utah's got a problem, all right?
- 29:58SPEAKER_05: They got an issue because here they're in Salt Lake City, they have the Utah Jazz.
- 30:05SPEAKER_05: Okay, yeah, that's a problem.
- 30:06SPEAKER_04: That's always been a problem.
- 30:07SPEAKER_05: That's a that's been a long-standing problem, and I understand you can't just they don't want to mess with the brand, but Utah's got an issue, and it needs to bring its identity.
- 30:17SPEAKER_04: That's bullshit.
- 30:18SPEAKER_04: They took they uh the New Orleans Jazz, who it used to be, moved to Utah, they kept the name for some weird freaking reason.
- 30:26SPEAKER_04: Like the Oklahoma City Thunder, they used to be the Seattle Supersonics, they changed their name like you should, because Oklahoma City supersonics doesn't make any sense.
- 30:36SPEAKER_04: No, like it's just Utah Seattle supersonics make sense, but continue.
- 30:41SPEAKER_04: I yeah, I guess that's fair.
- 30:43SPEAKER_04: But New Orleans deserves the jazz nickname.
- 30:46SPEAKER_04: The fact that they're the fact that they're the Pelicans is the stupidest thing in the world.
- 30:50SPEAKER_04: They should be the New Orleans Jazz, and Utah should change to something.
- 30:54SPEAKER_04: Uh, but I I I have this argument, as you can tell, pretty consistently.
- 30:58SPEAKER_04: Um what what would Utah change their name to?
- 31:03SPEAKER_05: Uh they could change it to like the the bees because they're obsessed with like beehives in that state.
- 31:09SPEAKER_05: It could be like the Utah Hive.
- 31:10SPEAKER_05: How about the Utah Hive?
- 31:11SPEAKER_05: That kind of goes.
- 31:12SPEAKER_04: Hive works, and it can like be like bees is not a good choice.
- 31:17SPEAKER_05: Utah bees with a question mark at the end of bees.
- 31:22SPEAKER_04: The Utah honey bees, baby.
- 31:25SPEAKER_05: So yeah, maybe I I just I did it for them.
- 31:27SPEAKER_05: The the uh the Utah Hive that kind of goes, to be honest, and their logo kind of kind of goes a beehive and all that.
- 31:33SPEAKER_04: Not bad.
- 31:33SPEAKER_04: I'm sure there's like an uh there's a mammal out there in the snow that's kind of vicious.
- 31:38SPEAKER_04: Uh like a cougar, like okay, do the like the BYU Cougars, Utah Cougars.
- 31:44SPEAKER_04: How about you?
- 31:45SPEAKER_04: Jazz hit me up.
- 31:47SPEAKER_04: Uh no, Texas Tech had a solid food option at the Big 12.
- 31:52SPEAKER_04: Red Raider burger.
- 31:53SPEAKER_04: I think we had it last year.
- 31:55SPEAKER_04: All bee patty, cheddar, fried onion ring, sweet pickled jalapenos, and the red raider barbecue sauce.
- 32:02SPEAKER_04: That's gotta be that's gotta be one of the best sellers because if you're going, if you're going to the Big 12 tournament and you want something like of sustenance, you're gonna get the burger.
- 32:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah, exactly.
- 32:12SPEAKER_05: If you want a meal, you get the burger.
- 32:13SPEAKER_05: Not, I mean, to be honest though, I I probably had to pick something else because I really don't know if I'd be going to an arena on a completely empty stomach.
- 32:20SPEAKER_04: That's fair.
- 32:21SPEAKER_04: That's fair.
- 32:22SPEAKER_04: I am more of a snacking guy when it comes to you know professional sports or wherever you're going.
- 32:27SPEAKER_05: Let me let me consume the same amount of calories in that burger in a snack form so I can like trick myself into thinking I ate lighter than the burger would have been.
- 32:37SPEAKER_04: Bingo, bingo.
- 32:38SPEAKER_04: I'm also a big hot dog guy, so I am a little bit biased.
- 32:41SPEAKER_04: Damn, no K State Cannon dog.
- 32:44SPEAKER_04: Not no cannon dog, but since he had a cheese coney, chili cheese, as they should.
- 32:49SPEAKER_04: Uh the Big 12, even like the main Big 12 dish was a hot dog as well.
- 32:55SPEAKER_05: So all American baby.
- 32:57SPEAKER_04: All American baby, gotta love it.
- 32:59SPEAKER_04: Um, the Big 12 tournament.
- 33:00SPEAKER_04: Do you think Texas Tech could win this?
- 33:03SPEAKER_05: Uh we have obviously we have the ability to do so, but I don't think we're gonna lay it on the line to do so.
- 33:09SPEAKER_05: Don't you think we're probably gonna take the approach where it's more of a therapeutic event where we're just gonna try to get everybody healthy rather than push it for maybe changing our seating destiny if it if it would.
- 33:22SPEAKER_05: I mean, the I think like the only way you really change your seeding fate here is if you win it.
- 33:27SPEAKER_05: And I just don't think we're gonna play to the level that you would need to.
- 33:32SPEAKER_05: I I sense an early exit for Texas Tech, if I'm being honest.
- 33:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I agree.
- 33:37SPEAKER_04: Texas Tech is in one of those positions where you really have nothing to play for, like, yeah, whether you're a five seed, a six seed, or a seven seed in the in the NCA tournament, like at that point, it really doesn't matter.
- 33:51SPEAKER_04: Even Houston has something to play for because they're playing for like the number one overall seed right now with Purdue and Yukon, and say Purdue and Yukon win their conference tournaments, and Houston doesn't, they're gonna be put behind and they're not gonna have their choice of you know location that they can play.
- 34:10SPEAKER_04: So when it comes to Texas Tech, even when it comes to like a Baylor or even UT, you know, like there's really nothing that's going to benefit you from being in the conference tournament and do and going far in this thing.
- 34:25SPEAKER_04: So yeah, the main thing here is health.
- 34:27SPEAKER_04: You do not want to get anybody hurt, you want to play good.
- 34:30SPEAKER_04: If it's a win, it's a bonus.
- 34:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that that's why I obviously if we go and go crazy and and win the whole thing, uh obviously my tune changes and I'm going, let's freaking go.
- 34:42SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna brag about it instantly.
- 34:44SPEAKER_04: Oh, for sure.
- 34:45SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna say Big 12 champions, baby.
- 34:47SPEAKER_05: I'll just kid just kidding.
- 34:50SPEAKER_05: I won't be that guy unless it's a cheap way.
- 34:53SPEAKER_05: But um all I'd probably only do that to Houston fans, and I've I'll I'd pull up the Wikipedia page and ask them to tell me what it says.
- 35:01SPEAKER_05: But but um yeah, I I I think that's the feeling at the end of the day.
- 35:07SPEAKER_05: Obviously, I'm gonna watch and root for our success.
- 35:10SPEAKER_05: I mean, that's what fans do, but I'm gonna try to tell myself don't be upset with the exit and just just know that the the real show is on the horizon where all the uh all the emotions can be.
- 35:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, definitely, definitely.
- 35:25SPEAKER_04: Don't go too hard.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: Like, please do not nobody get hurt in this stupid tournament.
- 35:30SPEAKER_04: Please, please, gosh.
- 35:31SPEAKER_04: I we have had too much of that this year.
- 35:34SPEAKER_04: Uh I doubt Warren Washington plays.
- 35:37SPEAKER_04: I don't see why he would play unless you want to maybe get him a little run before the big tournament.
- 35:43SPEAKER_04: Um, but if if he's like on the line, like do not play him.
- 35:47SPEAKER_05: Please know.
- 35:48SPEAKER_05: Like if it's if it's like a question, yeah.
- 35:50SPEAKER_04: Give him that extra few, whatever it is, four or five days of rest and uh and go into the NCAA tournament, hopefully with a fully healthy team.
- 35:58SPEAKER_04: So um, overall, I think a team like Iowa State's gonna win this.
- 36:02SPEAKER_04: I think that you know, with them having the crowd advantage that they normally have at the Big 12 tournament, then being as good as they are, like I could absolutely see Iowa State just going off and running with this.
- 36:13SPEAKER_05: And they do they love nothing more than winning the Big 12 tournament.
- 36:15SPEAKER_05: It's their favorite thing.
- 36:17SPEAKER_05: For sure.
- 36:17SPEAKER_04: So well, could congrats to Iowa State.
- 36:21SPEAKER_04: Cheers, cheers to the clones.
- 36:23SPEAKER_04: Cheers to the clones if you win the Big 12 tournament.
- 36:26SPEAKER_04: You guys are the real champions.
- 36:30SPEAKER_04: Oh, all right, then.
- 36:32SPEAKER_04: Like I said, selection Sunday, this Sunday coming up.
- 36:38SPEAKER_04: We're gonna figure out where Texas Tech is in the NCAA tournament.
- 36:42SPEAKER_04: Uh, five to seven range.
- 36:44SPEAKER_04: That's what you're gonna be.
- 36:45SPEAKER_04: You're you if you go far in the Big 12 tournament, you'll probably be a five or a six seed.
- 36:49SPEAKER_04: If you get knocked out in the first round of uh, you know what you play, you're probably gonna be a seven or a six seed.
- 36:56SPEAKER_04: So um either way, you got to bring it no matter what.
- 37:00SPEAKER_04: You're playing that same level of competition, I think, whether it's an 11, 12, or 13 seed, it they're all gonna be good, and you're gonna have to bring it no matter what.
- 37:08SPEAKER_04: So uh honestly, at this point, I'm just ready for selection Sunday to be here, and I really hope Warren's ready.
- 37:14SPEAKER_05: Steven Cosmo Churro to your head.
- 37:16SPEAKER_05: What number are we?
- 37:18SPEAKER_04: Six.
- 37:19SPEAKER_05: Six?
- 37:19SPEAKER_05: All right, I was gonna say seven.
- 37:21SPEAKER_04: No, I think we'll be a six seed.
- 37:22SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna be meet in the middle here.
- 37:24SPEAKER_04: I don't think we're gonna get up to five seed.
- 37:26SPEAKER_04: I think that's gonna take a lot.
- 37:27SPEAKER_04: That's gonna be like beating Houston at least in this tournament to get us up to that five seed.
- 37:33SPEAKER_04: Like right now, we're really in like the like low seven, high six range.
- 37:38SPEAKER_04: So I think we're gonna end up there.
- 37:39SPEAKER_04: I think we'll probably be like the third number six seed overall.
- 37:43SPEAKER_04: Um, and and we'll figure out who we play.
- 37:46SPEAKER_04: I'm not even gonna pretend like I know who we're gonna play because this is insanity, like trying to predict this stuff.
- 37:52SPEAKER_04: So um, so much can happen, but this is the best time of the year for absolutely.
- 37:59SPEAKER_05: This is the single best annual sporting event uh in the country.
- 38:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and that's absolutely if you disagree with me, you're wrong, okay?
- 38:09SPEAKER_05: Because this is the objective truth.
- 38:11SPEAKER_04: Because I will get I will get no work done next week.
- 38:14SPEAKER_04: I'm not gonna get any work done.
- 38:16SPEAKER_04: I've already decided like I'm just not.
- 38:18SPEAKER_04: It's it's gonna be so hard when you have games on starting at 11 a.m.
- 38:22SPEAKER_04: and then going on until 10 p.m.
- 38:25SPEAKER_04: for those first round games.
- 38:26SPEAKER_04: Like it is it's the best time of the year.
- 38:29SPEAKER_05: Please be please be in the evening for us.
- 38:33SPEAKER_05: Please.
- 38:33SPEAKER_05: Because I have a I have a normal job, okay, or I can't sit at home and watch the television.
- 38:40SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 38:41SPEAKER_05: I I'm a I'm I'm a I'm a working man, Steven.
- 38:46SPEAKER_04: There we all have access.
- 38:48SPEAKER_04: We have access to computers.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: I'm saying, you know, if you're the cool teacher, you're gonna let the kids watch Marshall.
- 38:56SPEAKER_05: Dude, sorry, and pay no attention to the projector screen that'll be on yeah throughout the class.
- 39:03SPEAKER_05: Here's worksheets, shut up, and I don't want no, you're not gonna do that.
- 39:10SPEAKER_04: You're a great teacher.
- 39:11SPEAKER_04: Thank you, friend.
- 39:12SPEAKER_04: Thank you, thank you.
- 39:14SPEAKER_04: No, next next week is gonna be great.
- 39:16SPEAKER_04: This week's gonna be great.
- 39:17SPEAKER_04: Like, I still love the Big 12 tournament, even if we don't always succeed, or even if it doesn't really matter to me.
- 39:24SPEAKER_04: I still love watching it.
- 39:25SPEAKER_04: It's still kind of a bragging right if you beat another fellow Big 12 team in the Big 12 tournament, but um yeah, man, it's it's basketball.
- 39:33SPEAKER_04: Is this is peak basketball for me?
- 39:36SPEAKER_05: And dude, this is truly the uh like last exciting bit of the academic year.
- 39:43SPEAKER_05: Like the excitement doesn't like this, doesn't return until about the uh the real road to Omaha begins, if we're if we're involved.
- 39:51SPEAKER_05: Um, so we gotta soak up these last moments of sportsdom because the dog days of summer are staring us in the face sooner than we think.
- 40:02SPEAKER_04: They're tough.
- 40:03SPEAKER_04: They're tough.
- 40:04SPEAKER_04: Listen, I love baseball, but it's tough when it's just baseball.
- 40:09SPEAKER_05: It is, it's whatever it's the only thing that's on.
- 40:13SPEAKER_05: It's it.
- 40:13SPEAKER_04: It's it's a struggle.
- 40:15SPEAKER_04: It's a struggle.
- 40:16SPEAKER_04: Um we're not gonna talk about baseball.
- 40:18SPEAKER_04: So we played games, whatever, it didn't happen.
- 40:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's nothing happens.
- 40:21SPEAKER_04: Nothing happened.
- 40:23SPEAKER_04: Saturday.
- 40:25SPEAKER_04: What?
- 40:26SPEAKER_05: It was cool.
- 40:28SPEAKER_05: What did we do to piss off the universe to where UT leaves the Big 12 like this?
- 40:37SPEAKER_05: Or is this like some sort of tweety pop glow-up movie?
- 40:41SPEAKER_05: Or we're the ugly nerdy girl who's getting pissed on by the hot popular girl and five years, stick with me.
- 40:50SPEAKER_05: Just stick with me.
- 40:51SPEAKER_04: Alright, no, keep going.
- 40:52SPEAKER_05: Alright, ten years down the road, we're we we took off our glasses and we're a smoke show now, okay?
- 41:01SPEAKER_05: And we're winning championships left and right at the national level, and now UT's the ugly girl, you know, that's disappointed with the way that their life ended up.
- 41:14SPEAKER_05: And we get the hunk, we get the beefcake at the end of the movie, you know what I mean?
- 41:21SPEAKER_04: If that helps you sleep better at night, uh that's that's exactly what's gonna happen.
- 41:27SPEAKER_05: I'm trying to I'm trying to think of what actor we're ending up with, and not nothing's coming to mind.
- 41:33SPEAKER_05: I'm having a hard time.
- 41:35SPEAKER_05: I'm having a hard time here.
- 41:37SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, the easy the easy one right now with where pop culture is is Sidney Sweeney.
- 41:42SPEAKER_05: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 41:44SPEAKER_05: We're who the guy we're ending up with.
- 41:46SPEAKER_05: Oh, the oh the oh we're talking about dudes.
- 41:48SPEAKER_05: Are we are we ending up with sweet Timothy Shyamalamala?
- 41:52SPEAKER_05: Or is that sweet little Willy Wonka himself?
- 41:54SPEAKER_04: No, I don't think Shamalamala is the is the guy that everyone's like clamoring to be with in high school.
- 42:00SPEAKER_04: Like, you need more of a beefcake, kinda.
- 42:03SPEAKER_04: Like, I don't know a young guy at this point, but like a Brad Pitt.
- 42:06SPEAKER_04: Like people are looking to get Brad Pitt.
- 42:10SPEAKER_05: Alright, alright, fine, fine.
- 42:12SPEAKER_04: Channing Tatum, maybe.
- 42:14SPEAKER_05: Uh what what year do you live in, Steven?
- 42:16SPEAKER_05: 2012?
- 42:17SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 42:20SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 42:21SPEAKER_04: Who's a young actor that's a beefcake?
- 42:26SPEAKER_05: Dude, I honest to God don't know.
- 42:30SPEAKER_05: I I can't I couldn't name a single guy.
- 42:35SPEAKER_05: Really a young woman either.
- 42:37SPEAKER_05: I mean, I guess Sweeney, but is she really that young?
- 42:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, she's like 24.
- 42:41SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 42:42SPEAKER_04: How old is she?
- 42:44SPEAKER_04: Jamie, get on that.
- 42:49SPEAKER_04: 26.
- 42:52SPEAKER_05: So okay.
- 42:53SPEAKER_05: Whatever.
- 42:54SPEAKER_05: Whatever.
- 42:55SPEAKER_05: I'm saying we're the hot girl now.
- 42:57SPEAKER_05: We are Sweeney.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: We are Sydney Sweeney.
- 43:05SPEAKER_04: What are we talking about?
- 43:06SPEAKER_05: I said, why were we cursed like this?
- 43:08SPEAKER_05: Why are we the why are we the nerd girl with glasses right now?
- 43:12SPEAKER_04: Honestly, if everything ended in 2023, that would have been so much better.
- 43:16SPEAKER_04: Why no?
- 43:17SPEAKER_04: It would have been so much better.
- 43:19SPEAKER_04: We would have won in football.
- 43:20SPEAKER_04: We would have at least tied in a bad basketball season.
- 43:24SPEAKER_04: Uh oh, actually, I think they swept us in baseball last year.
- 43:27SPEAKER_04: Uh whatever.
- 43:29SPEAKER_04: Whatever.
- 43:29SPEAKER_04: All right, whatever.
- 43:31SPEAKER_04: Whatever.
- 43:31SPEAKER_04: I don't like those guys.
- 43:33SPEAKER_04: And this is stupid.
- 43:34SPEAKER_04: I I it's stupid.
- 43:36SPEAKER_04: Stupid.
- 43:37SPEAKER_05: Well, yeah, okay.
- 43:39SPEAKER_05: It was disappointing.
- 43:41SPEAKER_05: And obviously, we were playing an angry UT team.
- 43:44SPEAKER_05: Their season was off to an abysmal start with with the way that their their season was looking into.
- 43:49SPEAKER_05: So they came into Lubbock with a lot of fire.
- 43:51SPEAKER_05: So uh it's you gotta you gotta you gotta acknowledge that.
- 43:56SPEAKER_05: Um and we just we just couldn't hang on to leads, man.
- 44:00SPEAKER_05: And and we we we would keep Klawn in and then we'd just get drop right back down.
- 44:04SPEAKER_05: So, but that's that's baseball at the end of the day.
- 44:06SPEAKER_05: I know Tadlock's gonna get this team right.
- 44:08SPEAKER_05: We're a really good team, we're still ranked.
- 44:10SPEAKER_05: Um, and it was kind of interesting to hear that Tadlock still wants to continue to play UT even post departure uh in baseball.
- 44:19SPEAKER_05: Apparently, he's been trying to set up a game with A, set up a series with AM since he's been the head coach.
- 44:25SPEAKER_05: So but he's just he's been met with no response.
- 44:28SPEAKER_05: So that might kind of indicate what the way that's gonna go.
- 44:31SPEAKER_05: And also, wow, real uh real brave of you there, AM.
- 44:36SPEAKER_05: Real uh real tough to not want to play us.
- 44:39SPEAKER_05: And I feel like, especially in sports like baseball, why wouldn't you?
- 44:42SPEAKER_05: Like, why not?
- 44:44SPEAKER_05: Why not?
- 44:44SPEAKER_05: What's like what do you pride?
- 44:47SPEAKER_04: Right, yeah, right.
- 44:48SPEAKER_04: That's why, that's why not because those guys are scared to lose to a Texas Tech.
- 44:53SPEAKER_04: Um, no, tell me if you've heard this before.
- 44:58SPEAKER_04: Tell me if you've heard this before.
- 44:59SPEAKER_04: Texas Tech may have a bullpen problem and may have a pitching problem.
- 45:03SPEAKER_05: Um this is wow, wow, this is the first time I'm hearing this.
- 45:08SPEAKER_04: This is this is the first time there it sucks because like there's so many people on the stupid X app that constantly bitch about Gardner and the pitching coach, and like you know, Texas Tech has been like really good, even in the bad years, we've been good.
- 45:32SPEAKER_04: Um, but there is no denying that the bullpen over the last several years has not been up to par.
- 45:40SPEAKER_04: And as soon as we get that starting pitcher out, it's like let's hope, let's hope we come up with something.
- 45:46SPEAKER_04: So I don't know if there needs to be a change to be made.
- 45:48SPEAKER_04: Again, this is way too early in the season for me to start having these conversations, but like it is disappointing to be consistently led down by your bullpen um when you see other teams that really just have some killer closers and you can't seem to find one at Texas Tech.
- 46:07SPEAKER_04: So that's disappointing.
- 46:09SPEAKER_04: Um, it it might be the story again this season of just like really branding hoping that your guys that come in and fill fill in for the starter on Friday or Saturday or Sunday, that you are uh just getting some out.
- 46:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean, like you said, dude, it's it's kind of the repeat story here.
- 46:27SPEAKER_05: And you know, Tadlock understands that there's gotta be he he he knows what's happening within his team.
- 46:33SPEAKER_05: Um, but I know I know as fans we are getting tired of seeing it, and it's could been our downfall, it's been our reasons for exits in the postseason and and in tight spots like against UT.
- 46:44SPEAKER_05: Um because I mean obviously the batting isn't letting you down, you're scoring enough to win games.
- 46:50SPEAKER_05: And uh obvious obviously Tadlock knows how to manage a program, but well well, I wonder how this is gonna play out throughout the season to see if there may be actually a serious discussion at the end or not.
- 47:05SPEAKER_05: But like you just said, uh it's too early to say.
- 47:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I just hate having the discussion every year.
- 47:12SPEAKER_04: I also hate the people that constantly bitch about it, um, because I because it's just like it's overdone.
- 47:17SPEAKER_04: I get it.
- 47:18SPEAKER_04: Like uh, you know, some days, but uh but you're not complaining about it when we win on Saturday, you know.
- 47:23SPEAKER_04: Right, you're only complaining.
- 47:24SPEAKER_04: It's like the the easiest thing to do as a college baseball fan is is bitch about the pitching.
- 47:30SPEAKER_04: Like that's the easiest thing to go to.
- 47:32SPEAKER_04: It's it's you're constantly like you're never the the good part about the win, you're always the bad part about the loss, you know.
- 47:40SPEAKER_04: So it's just it is what it is at this point.
- 47:43SPEAKER_04: Um, but it's still a long season to play, like you said, Texas Tech Baseball still has a good, a damn good team.
- 47:49SPEAKER_04: We're still ranked in the top 25.
- 47:51SPEAKER_04: Just because we lost a series to Texas does not you know define the season, right?
- 47:56SPEAKER_05: No, no, no.
- 47:57SPEAKER_05: The thing the hope is still alive here.
- 47:59SPEAKER_05: I mean, we still have a potential to go and win the big the Big 12 itself, and then obviously on to bigger and better things, just uh just as we're talking about talking about here in March Madness going it going to uh hitting the postseason baseball is an expectation now.
- 48:11SPEAKER_05: Um, and that's because of tadlock.
- 48:13SPEAKER_05: So, I mean, obviously, I don't think we could ever doubt his coaching ability and his management ability.
- 48:17SPEAKER_05: So, nothing but high hopes going forward, dude.
- 48:20SPEAKER_05: It's just it sucks that it's to the burn orange team, but that's just sometimes how it would be dope.
- 48:26SPEAKER_05: It is what it is.
- 48:29SPEAKER_04: Texas Tech softball doing very well, yes, by the way.
- 48:33SPEAKER_04: Uh won their first Big 12 series against BYU in Provo.
- 48:37SPEAKER_04: Let's go.
- 48:38SPEAKER_04: The softball team turnaround real quick.
- 48:42SPEAKER_04: Like, real quick.
- 48:43SPEAKER_04: I'm not saying that we're like gonna compete with Texas or OU this year, but like real quick, they turned it around.
- 48:51SPEAKER_05: Softball is sneaky good.
- 48:53SPEAKER_05: Sneaky.
- 48:54SPEAKER_05: We are a sneaky, we were sneaky good last year, too, dude.
- 48:57SPEAKER_05: Like this this turnaround wasn't just the the fruits of uh the developments of last year.
- 49:03SPEAKER_05: This this turnaround's been lightning quick because last year we were dangerous as well.
- 49:08SPEAKER_05: And just to see us finally put together a respectable uh team that's gonna go on the road and dominate the Cougars in Provo, it's awesome to see because we've been complaining for years now that like the success on the men's diamond is it might as well be the only thing happening on campus because the softball, it seemed like the softball program was just a storage closet, you know, because we know we don't even look at it, but it's good to see it finally in good hands, man.
- 49:37SPEAKER_05: Um, the new skipper obviously understands exactly what he's doing.
- 49:40SPEAKER_05: Um, and I'm really excited to see how this progresses.
- 49:43SPEAKER_05: Like we're off to a hot start.
- 49:45SPEAKER_05: Let's see if we can keep it going.
- 49:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I mean Snyder's been a part of some really good programs.
- 49:49SPEAKER_04: He was a part of some of those Florida State teams that were awesome and constantly like competing for national championships.
- 49:55SPEAKER_04: So uh, I mean, I think you got the right guy in there.
- 49:58SPEAKER_04: We're recruiting really well.
- 50:00SPEAKER_04: Um, so just keep it up and we'll see how the season goes.
- 50:03SPEAKER_04: But obviously, a really good start to Big 12 play going into Provo and winning two out of three there.
- 50:07SPEAKER_04: So um how about we talk about a couple national championships that Texas Tech has won in the past week?
- 50:16SPEAKER_04: Uh just two.
- 50:18SPEAKER_04: By the way, you've only won two national championships in the past week.
- 50:22SPEAKER_04: Um, one of which I I'm not gonna lie to you, I didn't know there was anything like this that schools competed for.
- 50:32SPEAKER_04: Um, but Texas Tech is your trumpet national champions for 2024.
- 50:41SPEAKER_04: Tristan, you're a big trumpet guy.
- 50:44SPEAKER_05: Huge trumpet guy.
- 50:47SPEAKER_05: Best of the horns.
- 50:48SPEAKER_04: What does this mean for Texas Tech?
- 50:52SPEAKER_05: Texas Tech has always had a rich history in brass.
- 50:56SPEAKER_05: Like, we we're solid in Woodwinds.
- 50:59SPEAKER_04: We've said it for years.
- 51:00SPEAKER_05: We put together a strong percussion team, but brass brass is where we excel.
- 51:08SPEAKER_05: So I'm glad to see the tip of the spear, the the the pointiest of the horns, the trumpet, is finally getting its due.
- 51:18SPEAKER_04: How is it the pointiest of the horns?
- 51:20SPEAKER_05: It's it's dude, it's the it's leading the it's leading the charge.
- 51:23SPEAKER_05: It points one direction, Steven.
- 51:25SPEAKER_05: Oh, it doesn't loop it loop around like all the rest of them do.
- 51:28SPEAKER_04: You're right.
- 51:29SPEAKER_05: All those other the other horns loop, dude.
- 51:34SPEAKER_05: Have you seen a fringe horn?
- 51:36SPEAKER_05: Have you seen a tufa?
- 51:37SPEAKER_05: It loops, they don't loop.
- 51:40SPEAKER_05: The trumpet loops too, but it finds its destination in a straight line.
- 51:44SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 51:45SPEAKER_05: It's the it's the pointiest of the horns.
- 51:46SPEAKER_05: Are you even trying to argue with me here?
- 51:49SPEAKER_04: I'm not trying to argue here.
- 51:51SPEAKER_04: The the the trumpet is the most straight and narrow of what we're talking about here.
- 51:56SPEAKER_04: This is this is the most base, the most pristine uh national championship of all of the brass instruments that you could have won.
- 52:05SPEAKER_05: It's the quarterback of the brass.
- 52:06SPEAKER_05: It is easily.
- 52:08SPEAKER_04: I've always said this that the trumpet is the quarterback of the brass.
- 52:12SPEAKER_05: Steven, how does the trumpet competition work?
- 52:15SPEAKER_05: Is it who's the loudest, or do they like go to combat?
- 52:19SPEAKER_05: They like do they use the horns as weapons?
- 52:22SPEAKER_05: I think they're like on a beam.
- 52:24SPEAKER_04: I just think of the I I just think of the Spongebob episode where they're where they're playing the they're playing the band instruments, and then they were just like, if we play loud, we'll be better.
- 52:35SPEAKER_04: And so they just they blow all the windows out.
- 52:40SPEAKER_04: That has to be it.
- 52:41SPEAKER_04: That's what I imagine the trumpet competition is like.
- 52:44SPEAKER_05: The other the only other explanation, and this one goes out to the millennials out there, is like an ed, ed, and eddy style on a beam, but instead of the fish, it's the trumpet, and you know, Rolf versus Eddie.
- 52:56SPEAKER_05: And they're uh up there, it's like you know, it's like Texas Tech versus Arizona State up there on the beam, battling it out with the trumpets.
- 53:04SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 53:05SPEAKER_04: A deep cut with the Rolf reference.
- 53:07SPEAKER_05: I'd love to see it.
- 53:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah, this has for all you late-term millennials shouts out there.
- 53:11SPEAKER_04: Nettie right there.
- 53:13SPEAKER_04: Um, no, I mean, in all seriousness, this is cool.
- 53:16SPEAKER_04: It's cool.
- 53:17SPEAKER_04: No, it is cool.
- 53:18SPEAKER_04: It's cool.
- 53:18SPEAKER_04: Congrats to those guys and that are over there winning the trumpet national championship.
- 53:23SPEAKER_04: Again, I have no idea what that institutes.
- 53:25SPEAKER_04: I don't know, I don't know how you even compete when it comes to that.
- 53:29SPEAKER_05: Look, if it's a product of the going band from Raider Land, best damn band in the land.
- 53:33SPEAKER_05: I mean, obviously, that is that's gonna that that is an obvious equation here for success.
- 53:40SPEAKER_05: So congrats to the Trumpet team.
- 53:42SPEAKER_05: I'm glad y'all were the loudest ones.
- 53:44SPEAKER_04: Shouts out.
- 53:45SPEAKER_04: Um, we also won the GOAT, I should say, has won another national championship for Texas Tech.
- 53:53SPEAKER_04: That is Wes Kitley winning uh and and coaching his team to another national championship, this time in the men's indoor uh national championship for track and field.
- 54:07SPEAKER_04: Is Wes Kitley the GOAT?
- 54:10SPEAKER_05: Wes Kitley is uh it's inarguable that he's the greatest head coach to ever go through Texas Tech.
- 54:17SPEAKER_05: No, um, I I mean whenever you're winning two national championships in two different sections of the sports, I I don't know how there could possibly be an argument.
- 54:26SPEAKER_05: I remember last week we discussed that maybe Marsha Sharp has an argument up there for it, because she obviously did.
- 54:33SPEAKER_05: Um, but now I think it's it's it's without question Wes Kidley, and now you need to start naming things after him, whether it's like uh the track facility or another like or a highway like we did with Marsha Sharp.
- 54:43SPEAKER_05: It's time, it's time to start solidifying this man's legacy inside of Lubbock and Texas Tech because that guy's the GOAT, just a truly incredible to be doing that in the Olympic sports, you know.
- 54:54SPEAKER_05: Arguably, you know, at the end of the day, one of probably one of the toughest sports to manage since you're you're you're bouncing so many different things um and recruiting the pinnacle of just who is the freaking fastest, you know, like that can't be easy to recruit, they can't be easy to develop.
- 55:09SPEAKER_05: Um, so hats off to him.
- 55:11SPEAKER_05: Uh obviously well deserved all the accolades and just you gotta love the loyalty that he has to Texas Tech.
- 55:17SPEAKER_05: You know, obviously, I'm sure programs that have a richer Olympic history than us have probably brought a dump truck of cash to him that he's just uh rejected to remain at home.
- 55:26SPEAKER_05: So just just nothing but love to Wes.
- 55:29SPEAKER_04: It was awesome.
- 55:30SPEAKER_04: It was awesome watching.
- 55:31SPEAKER_04: I I tuned in at the very end there for some of the last few events, uh on I believe it was Saturday.
- 55:38SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, dude's the goat.
- 55:41SPEAKER_04: I mean, there's no argument to me.
- 55:42SPEAKER_04: There is not a football coach, there is not a basketball coach, uh, maybe besides Marsha Sharp that has done what Wes Kitley has done for Texas Tech University, and that's what really um constitutes being the greatest of all time head coach.
- 55:58SPEAKER_04: So shouts out to those uh the track and field athletes, all of them that won or placed in whatever events that they were doing.
- 56:06SPEAKER_04: Wes Kitley rules, Texas Tech track and field rules.
- 56:09SPEAKER_05: Absolutely, man.
- 56:10SPEAKER_05: And Wes Kidley's not a young guy either, and for him to get these uh accolades before he rides off in the sunset is just awesome to top off his career with.
- 56:19SPEAKER_05: So hopefully he stays as long as he wants to, as long as he feels he can compete.
- 56:24SPEAKER_05: But just just again, nothing but applause to him.
- 56:28SPEAKER_04: Now we can only hope and pray that his son gets to that level.
- 56:32SPEAKER_04: So please let's do it, Zach.
- 56:34SPEAKER_04: You're up next, buddy.
- 56:35SPEAKER_04: Um on Zach.
- 56:37SPEAKER_04: All right, man.
- 56:38SPEAKER_04: Is there anything else that you would like to bring up before we get to Song of the Week?
- 56:43SPEAKER_05: Nah, see this this episode was was weird.
- 56:45SPEAKER_05: We sprinkled in a lot of uh 2000s pop culture references.
- 56:50SPEAKER_04: Little a little wabash cannon dog, a little eddy, little Shrek ketchup, little uh Shrek ketchup?
- 56:57SPEAKER_04: Wow, yeah, we were all over the place.
- 57:00SPEAKER_04: We apologize to the listeners.
- 57:02SPEAKER_04: Song of the week, go ahead.
- 57:03SPEAKER_05: All right, I still really understand the marketing boy of the of the Shrek, but all right, so I dude.
- 57:12SPEAKER_05: I I okay, so my for my birthday, which was a couple months ago at this point.
- 57:17SPEAKER_05: Happy birthday.
- 57:20SPEAKER_05: My wife got me a vinyl of Fallout Boy greatest hits.
- 57:26SPEAKER_05: Nice.
- 57:26SPEAKER_05: And Fallout Boy has to be my favorite rocket rock and roll band.
- 57:30SPEAKER_05: Like they just they have to be my favorite rock band of all time.
- 57:34SPEAKER_05: And um what what's yours?
- 57:39SPEAKER_04: That that's a lot to drop on me right here.
- 57:41SPEAKER_04: Um well, uh, what I was really wondering right there when you said that is is it Fallout Boy or is it Angels and Airwaves?
- 57:48SPEAKER_04: What was your favorite?
- 57:49SPEAKER_05: It's Fallout Boy, okay, okay.
- 57:51SPEAKER_05: Like, because Fallout Boys really had the sustainability.
- 57:53SPEAKER_05: Angels and Airways was kind of more of a teenage thing for me.
- 57:55SPEAKER_05: But uh, I mean, looking back, and this is just like I will still jam the Fallout Boy, you know.
- 58:00SPEAKER_05: And yeah, so whenever I'm spinning that record, my favorite Fallout Boy song comes on.
- 58:05SPEAKER_05: And I'm just like, how was this not bigger than it was?
- 58:09SPEAKER_05: And it's gonna be America's sweethearts Fallout Boy.
- 58:14SPEAKER_04: Good selection.
- 58:16SPEAKER_04: I you put this on.
- 58:17SPEAKER_04: I didn't, I I never heard this song until college when we were living together.
- 58:21SPEAKER_04: You threw it on one time.
- 58:22SPEAKER_04: I was like, this is a banger.
- 58:24SPEAKER_04: And I thought the same exact thing that you just said.
- 58:27SPEAKER_04: How did this not get bigger?
- 58:29SPEAKER_04: Like that that song rules.
- 58:31SPEAKER_05: It hit the charts, but it just it really it just really didn't uh go sky high.
- 58:36SPEAKER_05: Nothing on this album did.
- 58:37SPEAKER_05: It's uh what's it's it's like Folly I do.
- 58:40SPEAKER_05: I'm not I'm not sure, I'm not sure if I'm saying that right, but it was their last album before they went on that long hiatus.
- 58:44SPEAKER_05: Um, but song bangs, love follow up, boy.
- 58:49SPEAKER_05: Um, obviously all know I'm always I'm always a country guy, but like it's whenever I'm mixing it up, that's where I'm heading.
- 59:07SPEAKER_05: I didn't know.
- 59:08SPEAKER_04: Whenever you're feeling frisky, you pull out the fallout boy.
- 59:12SPEAKER_04: Um, my song of the week, I don't know, some people may like it.
- 59:15SPEAKER_04: Maybe it's the the glass of wine that I'm drinking right now.
- 59:18SPEAKER_04: Um but I'm feeling I'm feeling in touch with my feminine side right now.
- 59:24SPEAKER_04: My song of the week is a banger.
- 59:27SPEAKER_04: I don't care if you're a male, female, or whatever.
- 59:30SPEAKER_04: Uh my song of the week is Because of You by Kelly Clarkson Stone Reba.
