Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
• 0:04
Speaker 1: The Jess Daly saga seems to be coming to its completion.
• 0:08
Speaker 1: And like usual, he won't be facing any real repercussions.
• 0:13
Speaker 1: Every single person who was involved with Jeffrey Epstein's bullshit,
• 0:16
Speaker 1: besides Ghislaine Maxwell and Jean-Luc Brunel. You would think that
• 0:20
Speaker 1: with all of these people who were involved, that there
• 0:23
Speaker 1: would have been a few more arrests, right? But no,
• 0:26
Speaker 1: they don't care. And it's at the point where I
• 0:29
Speaker 1: feel like I'm just screaming into the wind because nothing's
• 0:32
Speaker 1: ever going to change. None of these people are ever
• 0:34
Speaker 1: going to be held accountable. None of these people are
• 0:36
Speaker 1: ever going to see one single second in a jail cell.
• 0:40
Speaker 1: They'll get slapped with some kind of financial penalty, and
• 0:42
Speaker 1: then life will keep going on for them. Meanwhile, the
• 0:45
Speaker 1: people who are abused, they have to go on for
• 0:47
Speaker 1: the rest of their lives living with that trauma, living
• 0:50
Speaker 1: with what happened to them, and knowing that nobody in
• 0:53
Speaker 1: a position of power would even raise one single finger
• 0:56
Speaker 1: to make sure people like Jeff Staley and all the
• 0:59
Speaker 1: rest of these clowns face some justice. Today's article is
• 1:03
Speaker 1: from Reuters, and the headline, Staley Faces UK Fine, ban
• 1:08
Speaker 1: for Epstein statements while Barclays CEO. And you know what's
• 1:11
Speaker 1: so disingenuous about this? Barclays knew the whole entire time.
• 1:16
Speaker 1: The only reason that they didn't remove Epstein right away
• 1:18
Speaker 1: is because we were dealing with the pandemic and they
• 1:21
Speaker 1: didn't want to have to go through the nonsense of
• 1:23
Speaker 1: finding a new CEO during the pandemic and having their
• 1:27
Speaker 1: stock tank even further. So they stuck with Jess Daly
• 1:31
Speaker 1: and they put profits over people once again. This article
• 1:35
Speaker 1: was authored by Hugh Jones and Sinead Cruz. Britain's Financial
• 1:39
Speaker 1: Conduct Authority said on Thursday it planned to fine ex-Barclays
• 1:43
Speaker 1: chief executive Jess Daly 1.8 million pounds, or $ 2. 21 million,
• 1:49
Speaker 1: for recklessly misleading it over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
• 1:54
Speaker 1: The FCA, which also intends to ban the former Barclays CEO,
• 1:59
Speaker 1: from holding a senior position in the financial services industry,
• 2:02
Speaker 1: said in a statement that Staley has appealed against its findings,
• 2:06
Speaker 1: which were therefore provisional. So this dude is out here
• 2:10
Speaker 1: acting like he didn't have this relationship with Epstein, but
• 2:13
Speaker 1: the most galling part of all of it is that
• 2:15
Speaker 1: the English banking sector is out here acting like they
• 2:18
Speaker 1: didn't know, like this was some big revelation to them.
• 2:22
Speaker 1: Barclays knew exactly who Epstein was, and they knew that
• 2:26
Speaker 1: Jeff Staley had a relationship with him, going way back.
• 2:29
Speaker 1: But they chose to hire him anyway because they thought
• 2:32
Speaker 1: that he'd bring more money into the bank. That's what
• 2:34
Speaker 1: it all comes down to. Staley said that he was
• 2:37
Speaker 1: very disappointed by the FCA's decision, which he would continue
• 2:41
Speaker 1: to challenge. If I had known who Jeffrey Epstein really was,
• 2:45
Speaker 1: there is absolutely no doubt that I wouldn't be in
• 2:48
Speaker 1: the position I am in today, he said in a statement.
• 2:52
Speaker 1: issued by his law firm, Arnold and Porter. You know,
• 2:55
Speaker 1: it's so funny that all of these people want to
• 2:57
Speaker 1: claim ignorance, and then at the same time, they want
• 3:00
Speaker 1: to tell you that they're the smartest people in the room. Well,
• 3:03
Speaker 1: I have news for you. They're not the smartest people
• 3:05
Speaker 1: in the room. They're a bunch of morons, and they're
• 3:08
Speaker 1: all transparent. We know that you were pals with Epstein.
• 3:11
Speaker 1: We know that you knew what he was, and we
• 3:14
Speaker 1: know that you were out here palling around with him
• 3:18
Speaker 1: and using his island. We also know that there's women
• 3:21
Speaker 1: who say that you abused them while they were being
• 3:24
Speaker 1: trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein. So, when's there going to be
• 3:29
Speaker 1: a come-to-Jesus moment for that? Unfortunately, it doesn't look like
• 3:33
Speaker 1: there ever will be, because people like Jess Staley never
• 3:36
Speaker 1: face real consequences for the stuff that they do. Disgraced
• 3:41
Speaker 1: financier Epstein killed himself in a New York jail, allegedly,
• 3:45
Speaker 1: in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. I
• 3:49
Speaker 1: love when they call him a financier. What exactly did
• 3:51
Speaker 1: this guy finance? What was he doing that made him
• 3:54
Speaker 1: some kind of hot shot financier? Is that because he
• 3:57
Speaker 1: told you that's what he was? Or I don't get it.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: Because in reality, he was nothing like that. The dude
• 4:03
Speaker 1: was a liar, a thief, and he had one ability
• 4:07
Speaker 1: besides being a scumbag. And that ability was hiding money
• 4:11
Speaker 1: offshore and manipulating the financial system to hide money for
• 4:15
Speaker 1: other rich people. And that's why these rotten sons of
• 4:18
Speaker 1: bitches were never hit with a Rico charge. Because nobody
• 4:21
Speaker 1: really cares. If the DOJ cared, or if the SDNY cared,
• 4:25
Speaker 1: it would have been Rico all day, and all these
• 4:28
Speaker 1: people would have been brought in. You see how quick
• 4:30
Speaker 1: they hit Trump with Rico, right? Why wouldn't you hit
• 4:33
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein with Rico? You hit R. Kelly with Rico.
• 4:36
Speaker 1: You hit Keith Ranieri with Rico. You hit Young Thug
• 4:39
Speaker 1: with Rico. You name it. But not Jeffrey Epstein? I
• 4:43
Speaker 1: guess his crimes don't rate, huh? There were no predicates there.
• 4:46
Speaker 1: Come on. That's a conspiracy theory. The FCA has found
• 4:51
Speaker 1: that Mr. Staley recklessly approved a letter sent by Barclays
• 4:54
Speaker 1: to the FCA, which contained two misleading statements about the
• 4:58
Speaker 1: nature of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and the point
• 5:03
Speaker 1: of their last contact. It said, So you're telling me
• 5:06
Speaker 1: that Jeff Staley is a liar? Is that what you're
• 5:08
Speaker 1: trying to tell me? Boy, that is some breaking news, huh?
• 5:13
Speaker 1: Considering all the BS this guy's been saying from Jump Street,
• 5:16
Speaker 1: I don't know how anyone could take anything he has
• 5:18
Speaker 1: to say seriously. Look, when somebody tells me who they are,
• 5:22
Speaker 1: I listen. Barclays said that after consideration of the FCA's findings,
• 5:27
Speaker 1: its committee had concluded that Staley should be ineligible for
• 5:31
Speaker 1: or forfeit bonuses and long-term incentives totaling £ 17. 8 million. Boy,
• 5:38
Speaker 1: this relationship really cost Jeff Staley, huh? Guy went from
• 5:41
Speaker 1: being some big shot banker to basically unemployed and losing
• 5:46
Speaker 1: whatever hope he had at gaining some dough with a
• 5:49
Speaker 1: buyout or with future incentives. And all because he couldn't
• 5:52
Speaker 1: control himself. Imagine having all this money and choosing to
• 5:55
Speaker 1: hang out with a guy like Jeffrey Epstein. As if
• 5:58
Speaker 1: Staley couldn't have hung out with whoever he wanted. When
• 6:01
Speaker 1: you have that kind of dough, the door is open
• 6:03
Speaker 1: for you. He chose to be with Epstein. Just like
• 6:06
Speaker 1: all these other rich people that were hanging out with
• 6:08
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein, they all chose the same thing. So don't
• 6:11
Speaker 1: come at me and say, oh, I had no idea
• 6:13
Speaker 1: who he was. I had no idea what he was
• 6:16
Speaker 1: up to. Yes, you did. You knew exactly what he
• 6:19
Speaker 1: was doing. You knew exactly what he was. And you
• 6:22
Speaker 1: didn't care. Just be honest about it. The Watchdog asked
• 6:26
Speaker 1: Daly in August of 2019 to explain what he had
• 6:30
Speaker 1: done to satisfy himself that there was no impropriety in
• 6:34
Speaker 1: the relationship between himself and Epstein. In its response, Barclay's,
• 6:39
Speaker 1: relied on information supplied by Mr. Staley. Mr. Staley confirmed
• 6:43
Speaker 1: the letter was fair and accurate, the FCA said. In reality,
• 6:48
Speaker 1: in emails, between the two, Mr. Staley described Mr. Epstein
• 6:52
Speaker 1: as one of his deepest and most cherished friends, it added.
• 6:55
Speaker 1: And how does that make sense? He's your most cherished friend,
• 6:58
Speaker 1: but you have no idea who he is or what
• 7:00
Speaker 1: he's up to? Who's buying any of this nonsense? The
• 7:04
Speaker 1: letter had also said that Staley seized contact with Epstein
• 7:07
Speaker 1: well before he joined Barclays, even though Staley had been
• 7:11
Speaker 1: in contact with Epstein in the days leading up to
• 7:14
Speaker 1: his appointment as CEO, being announced, the FCA said. The
• 7:18
Speaker 1: FCA has found that Mr. Staley was aware of the
• 7:22
Speaker 1: risk that his associations with Mr. Epstein posed to his career,
• 7:26
Speaker 1: the watchdog added. Sometimes you just don't care, huh? When
• 7:30
Speaker 1: you're that high on the hog and you're that big
• 7:31
Speaker 1: of a dog, you can do whatever you want. Well,
• 7:34
Speaker 1: guess what, Jeff Staley? You can't. Party's over for you, buddy.
• 7:38
Speaker 1: And while you're not going to face any real repercussions
• 7:40
Speaker 1: for your nonsense, at the very least, you're getting slapped
• 7:44
Speaker 1: in the pocketbook. But at some point, it has to
• 7:47
Speaker 1: go further, right? This is like a Pyrrhic victory once again. Sure,
• 7:51
Speaker 1: it's a victory on its face, but in the long term,
• 7:54
Speaker 1: it's really a loss. The FCA said a chief executive
• 7:58
Speaker 1: needed to exercise sound judgment and set an example to staff. Mr.
• 8:03
Speaker 1: Staley failed to do this. We consider that he misled
• 8:06
Speaker 1: both the FCA and the Barclays board about the nature
• 8:09
Speaker 1: of his relationship with Mr. Epstein, said Therese Chambers, FCA
• 8:14
Speaker 1: Joint Executive Director of Enforcement and Market Oversight. Oh yeah,
• 8:19
Speaker 1: Barclays had no idea. It's not Barclays' fault. Come on.
• 8:23
Speaker 1: At what point does the bank take responsibility? And the
• 8:27
Speaker 1: fact that Jeff Staley was moving money from Barclays all
• 8:31
Speaker 1: over the place, probably to Epstein, I think that's something
• 8:34
Speaker 1: that should be looked into as well. How long did
• 8:37
Speaker 1: that relationship last? And certainly any financial transactions between the
• 8:41
Speaker 1: two should be scrutinized. Barclays said it was not the
• 8:45
Speaker 1: subject of the FCA's investigation and the FCA decision notice
• 8:50
Speaker 1: did not include any findings against it. any directors, or employees.
• 8:55
Speaker 1: It said it cooperated fully with the regulatory investigation. Last month,
• 8:59
Speaker 1: JPMorgan Chase said it had reached a confidential settlement with Staley,
• 9:04
Speaker 1: who formerly served as an executive in its private banking
• 9:08
Speaker 1: unit and who JPMorgan had blamed for keeping Epstein as
• 9:12
Speaker 1: a client. JPMorgan also agreed to pay $ 75 million to
• 9:17
Speaker 1: settle claims by the U.S. Virgin Islands that the bank
• 9:20
Speaker 1: aided Epstein sex trafficking. JP Morgan did not admit any wrongdoing.
• 9:26
Speaker 1: Imagine paying out all that money for not doing anything wrong.
• 9:29
Speaker 1: What a world. What a world we live in. And
• 9:32
Speaker 1: if you got fat enough pockets, forget it. There's no
• 9:36
Speaker 1: crime too big. There's no crime that you cannot commit
• 9:39
Speaker 1: if you have deep ass pockets. So am I shocked
• 9:42
Speaker 1: that Jeff Staley is going to get off with more
• 9:44
Speaker 1: financial penalties? No, I am not. Am I disgusted by
• 9:48
Speaker 1: the fact that he's not going to face any true consequences?
• 9:51
Speaker 1: Of course I am. But at this point, what are
• 9:54
Speaker 1: we supposed to do? We've been here railing about this
• 9:57
Speaker 1: now since 2019. And in all those years, the only
• 10:01
Speaker 1: people to ever go to jail were Ghislaine Maxwell and
• 10:04
Speaker 1: Jean-Luc Brunel. And Brunel didn't even go to jail in America.
• 10:07
Speaker 1: And unfortunately, I don't see any of that changing anytime soon.
• 10:12
Speaker 1: All right, folks, that's going to do it for this one.
