Jen: Hmm. life be out here life and it it just really throwing some elbow literally. Shaun: It doobie life and and there's nothing you can do. You're just along for the ride. Yeah. Barry: It usually does. It usually does. Jen: Literally. the whole Watson house was taken out by the COVID. So Barry: Vid, bro. Jen: yeah, Shaun: It is back. Jen: it hit us. It hit us good. Yeah. Barry: It's It's here to stay y'all. Jen: I I don't th no, it'll be like the flu, I think. It's just here forever. Shaun: Right. When is it when is it gonna go away? Barry: Never. It's like, it's like the flu is just a seasonal Shaun: I think Barry: thing, man. Yes, sir. Okay, do y'all get flu shots? Did you get COVID shots? Shaun: Jeez That's annoying. Jen: Yeah. I think so. Unfortunately. Mhm. boosters, yeah. Yeah. Barry: See, I don't do none of that, bro. Shaun: I I couldn't tell you the last time I had a flu shot, to be honest. And I never got the COVID vaccine. Jen: I usually get every year. I've never I couldn't tell you the last time I had the flu. Barry: I did get the COVID vaccine. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I think I got one of the boosters, maybe two, but Jen: Yeah. Barry: I probably got it on a yearly basis. but nowadays who knows what I'm getting. I just get. Jen: Exactly. Shaun: Honestly, dude, if I'm gonna go out, j I'm just gonna go out. It is what it is at this point. Yeah. Jen: Well Barry: what can you do? when you get the boot or the shot, you're literally getting injected with the virus. So you might get sick from the shots. I'm like, I'll just roll my dice and maybe, maybe Jen: Yeah. Mm hmm. Yeah. A lot of people do. Yeah. Shaun: So I'm saying so Barry: I won't. Shaun: Yeah, whatever happens happens. Jen: I usually don't get sick from the shots and I get every year, but really? They Barry: No, I do. I'm the worst, bro. When I get them shots, yeah. Jen: never really affect me. But I Shaun: 'Cause you're soft. Jen: also never get the flu. Like I couldn't tell you the last time Barry: Crazy. Jen: had the flu. So I don't know. Shaun: That's true. So yeah, I don't know unless I might have the flu either. Jen: Yeah. And I don't think my kids have ever had the flu. So I don't know. Knock on wood. Something. Shaun: Fun s I was about to say you better knock on that chair or knock on some kind of wood. Jen: Lord. I did knock on the desk that is connected to said boom arm. That's what you get for being rowdy. Barry: Don't knock on your boom arm. We don't need to hear that. Shaun: Yeah, don't do that. TikTok shop. That's true. my gosh. I Barry: It's like a Shaun: I Barry: shitty harp. Shaun: I just wish one day like we could find a way for the listeners to be able to hear it. So that y'all can hear what we hear. It's insane. Jen: That Temu harp? For the listeners maybe No. No. It's just for you guys. It's just for you guys. Nope. Barry: have to try and mess with it the next time. Shaun: Yeah. We'll have to see if we can get it in there. Well, sounds like you all were hit pretty hard. How are y'all feeling now? Jen: Yeah. we're better. just tired because yeah, Barry: Kiddo's back at school. Jen: they're back at school. Everybody's testing negative, so we're we're good. but we're just yeah, we're just in the middle of the Barry: Get him the hell out of there. Jen: move and everything too. So it's just non stop. Literally the worst timing Shaun: Yeah. Worse timing. Yeah. Barry: It's a lot of time. Yeah. Jen: ever. So we're all just exhausted and trying to get stuff done. But Shaun: Yeah. Jen: yeah, life be life and Shaun: That is a cold hard fact. Mm-hmm. Barry: Everyday. Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: All day, ery day. Yeah. Jen: Mm. Barry: so. Shaun: Well Well, Barry, what about you, dog? How's your week been? Barry: had another busy one. Shaun: Jeez, here we go. Jen: When do you not have a busy week? He always got something to tell. Shaun: I know, right? Mr Popular over here. Barry: That's not about, it was a fun weekend, but. Shaun: Exactly. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: All right everybody, saddle in. We're gonna be here for a while waiting for Barry to figure out what he did every day. Barry: Yo, I will have to talk to her every day. I was already starting it. Because Jen: Lord. Barry: I don't think anything happened during the week last week. No, Friday was I think where it all jumped off. Jen: Mm mm. Barry: So Friday was the homecoming game for my oldest. So she was going to that. Jen: Hmm. First high school game. Barry: First high school homecoming, she's gone to a couple of Jen: Mm. Barry: the regular games already. She went to the wurst bowl, which is your husband probably knows exactly what that is. Jen: Canyon versus New Braunfels. The unicorns? Barry: You got it. That's it. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: Yeah. The unicorns versus the Cougs. Actually, the Cougars won it this year. They came back. I Jen: A Shaun: Any Barry: don't know what. Go Cougars. I don't know. I have no clue. I know they're the Cougars, but I don't know what they're like. Little thing is. Jen: Couldn't tell ya. Yeah. shout out to the cougars. Shaun: Shout out to the Cougars. Jen: If you know their thing, let us know. Barry: Sean's meaning more than one, I was gonna say. He's saying that metaphorically and literally, but. Shaun: No. PG. We're keeping a PG. Barry: Mmm, Jen: Since when? Barry: okay, I got you. Shaun: That's true. Barry: But they, it was not the same result. They got their butts handed to them this time. I don't know what the final Shaun: Mm. Barry: score was. They played Pieper High School and they were pretty good last year. I think they went pretty deep into the playoffs, but was not the homecoming ending they were looking for on the game Jen: The Barry: side. But we didn't really have anything to do with that, but the whole big thing, I guess that kind of happened in a week. with her boyfriend. If y'all aren't from Texas, this may sound insane. It's insane to me and I'm from Texas. I grew up here in my high school years, but mums Shaun: Dude, what are you about to say? Jen: Mm. Barry: and garters Shaun: Garters Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: is the silliest thing to me. Shaun: They still do that? Barry: Yes. it's a big deal. and it's like a whole nother level now, bro. Like. Jen: They do and but they've taken it up a notch. yeah, Shaun: Really? What? Jen: it's insane the amount of money and how big they make these things now. Yes. Barry: Yeah. Yeah. And they're hard to find. Like, you could go, you used to go to like Hobby Lobby and Michaels and make your own. Well, now those days, those places don't even sell like the stuff anymore or it's sold out. So now you're Jen: Mm-hmm. Sold out. Yeah. Barry: trying to find Shaun: Peace. Barry: it. We literally had to order the mum or the garter for our oldest's boyfriend on Amazon and then find things to make it custom. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: I mean, luckily they have common Shaun: Peace. Barry: like colors of red, white and black. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: So. But they did that on Friday. Like she took his to school. She got hers. And then I went a couple of my buddies from where I actually graduated, not from Copperas Cove, but from Reagan. Shhh, been like 20. Yo, we were talking about 25 years next year that I'll be at high school, Jen: That's wild. Barry: man. Yes, it is. I am old as you know what? Shaun: insane. You old as head, bruh. Jen: Ha ha ha Barry: For sure. But Shout out to my homie Chino. Actually today is his birthday. So happy birthday Chino. Jen: happy birthday, Chino. Shaun: Hey. Happy birthday, Chino. Barry: Yes sir. But him and his wife, two boys, they rented a spot like 15 minutes from our spot over off River Road. That was pretty dope. So a couple of our other, the dude that I went to the firefighter thing with last week or two weekends ago, him, his wife and two boys. we're the odd ones out. I got started a little earlier than everybody else. So my kids are way older than all the other kids. So it just, it's where they don't really hang around with them. Unfortunately, it's too big of an age gap. So, Jen: Yeah. Barry: but I rolled over to our solo, had some good times, some good talks. Jen: Do you reminisce on the good old days? Shaun: I Barry: I saw the guy, Shaun: was like it talks Barry: my buddy who's a lawyer who did our LLC. Shout out to Matt. Yeah, he got us set up. Yeah, I saw him. He was in town Jen: really? Thanks, Matt Shaun: yeah? Appreciate you. Barry: from Colorado. I saw some other homies. So that was Friday and I got, I got there like at six and I didn't come home until like 11. And yeah, Shaun: Did Jen: Look at you, party animal. Mm mm. Here he Barry: I came home and passed out. You know, it's past my bedtime. Shaun: Was Ray there? Your your homie Ray? Your Ray was there. Okay. I'm just saying, I mean, when you hang Barry: No, this is a different, no this is a different friend group. This is a different high school. No. Jen: go. Here he go. Shaun: out and Ray's there, I mean, it sounds like y'all have a blast. Y'all do it big. So I mean Barry: We do. It's a good time. But now we had a good time. But then Saturday was actual dance. So Becca was working our work family event that we had Saturday. Jen: Mm. Barry: And I went. So we went and picked up our oldest, like best friend. Her mom was out of town, so she was going to go with our oldest. So we went and picked her up. Came home, got ready, went to the work event. Left there at five. Becca actually worked, I think, what was it, three to four? It was pretty dope. But it just gets so dusty, man. my feet were so disgusting when I came home. You know me, I Jen: Leave them. Barry: wore flip-flops, so yeah. Yeah, my feet, for sure. But now our youngest was, Shaun: Your feet flip flops. I was like your feet, but yeah, your flip flops. I mean, we know you don't wash them, so. Jen: Now here in the blip flap. Barry: I wash them. I just don't wash them between them. Shaun: They still gritty. Talk about Barry: No, they are. I sprayed them off. Jen: Mm. Barry: Our youngest, I kind of got jealous. She didn't get to go because I said I like picks. They had a pretty good little setup for the kids this year. A couple of inflatable houses, Jen: They usually do. Barry: some games. The weather was a lot more enjoyable since it was later in the year. It was like clouds and wind, like a little breeze. Food was all right. I was a little disappointed. I didn't have my chicken on a stick this year, but it's all good. Jen: What Barry: Yeah. Shaun: Dang. Jen: hmm. Barry: So got home from that got the oldest and her friend ready. Her boyfriend, our oldest's boyfriend got dropped off, we went down to the river to lil' pictures. Then for whatever reason, they wanted to go to Raising Cane's for dinner. So that's where we went to dinner. Which I was all right with it. I mean, that's way cheaper than going somewhere else. So I'm cool with it. Shaun: They're teens, dude. Teens love Keynes. Jen: All right, yeah. huh. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: is it though it was $60 still which is I feel like Shaun: Jeez. Barry: that's crazy because that's what I used to think was normal for a family meal like in a restaurant but now it's fast food as used to be but Shaun: yeah, not anymore. I can go spend Jen: Mm-hmm. It used to be, yeah. Shaun: sixty dollars by myself in a restaurant. Especially if you put drinks in there. Yeah. Jen: These days for sure. Mm-hmm. Barry: Couple drinks, I was gonna say, you get a couple drinks, that's an easy to hit. Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: But yeah, Becca took them to the dance. I rolled back out to my homie's spot, kicked it a little more. A couple other friends Shaun: Hey. Barry: came out on Saturday, but I only stayed till like 10.30. I was only a couple hours this time. Shaun: Only ten thirty. Jen: We know, right? Barry: And then, went and picked up, everybody dropped them off. What was yesterday's sunday? lacrosse practice. speaking of so this is kind of a branch off of Friday, Saturday. So I was like, my camera gonna mess up. no, there we go. Jen: Yeah. Barry: While I was hanging with my home, he's like, you know, I don't know. It was like, you know, I can't, I can't Shaun: It's off the rails. Here we go. Jen: Even your camera just rolled its eyes at you. Barry: But way back when I had my little medical stuff at the beginning last year, I found out Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: I have degenerative mild degenerative disc disease in my back. So I should probably do something about that, but I'm probably not. Shaun: Rubbing the dirt on it. U Bay. Yeah, maybe U B I Barry: Yeah, he could be all right. Jen: Guys are ridiculous. Barry: So certain things like exercise wise, hurt or leave me sore. And it's trying to like figure something else out. So I was talking to my homies and they were like, you should try boxing. So you know me, I buy what I want when I want it. And I'm 100 % all in, like, sure, let's go down the boxing route. So yesterday, yes, yesterday is Sunday. I went and bought like a little freestanding heavy bag, some gloves, so I'm start doing some boxing. I did my little first workout. You I killed a couple small towns to get the co-pilot to write me a little workout plan. Shaun: Build a couple small towns. Jen: You're so ridiculous. Shaun: Somebody ain't drinking fresh water tonight because of you. Jen: Droughts wear, right? Barry: Somebody got some nasty water because of my prompt, but my oldest called me out. She's like, you're killing the environment, so you get a workout plan? I was like, I guess so. Jen: Mm. Let know. Barry: But, so yeah, my first little workout this morning. Shaun: Box is a good workout. Barry: It is Jen: It is Barry: what does it think your brother just Jen: a good. Mm-hmm. Barry: I need to hit cardio and running just ain't it for me no more. So I was like boxing sounds good. It's it's is Jen: Yeah. Running's hard on your body. Shaun: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Barry: it's hard on your knees and your back, man. Jen: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: So I go back to Yeah, Shaun: I went to nine round one time, thought I was gonna die. Barry: but I like running Jen: Mm. Barry: like I enjoy it. So it sucks. But I just got to, I got your cardio, man. Jen: Yeah. Pivot a little bit, yeah. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: My, my, my weights been climbing. So Shaun: My weight's been climbing. This dude, he weighs like he weighs like a hundred and thirty-five pounds. Talking about my weight's been climbing. Barry: Yo, I've been eating like shit. No, I don't. You crazy, bro. I'm 210, I'm 215 right now. Jen: I know, right? Barry: Try to think what else. I think that's really it. Our youngest had a little trunk or treat at school tonight. Got me some candy ready for Halloween season. Talk about some, packing on some pounds, but I'll be hitting our candy. hard Shaun: Okay. Top let's say top three. Top three Halloween candies. What'll she say? Jen: Ooh. That's so hard. Mm-hmm. Barry: that's so tough, bro. Okay, are we gonna like limit Jen: I Barry: to a category? You just want all overall. Shaun: Nah, I'm not gonna limit to a category because I don't wanna limit myself to a category. Barry: No, I need the limit, because if not, it's going to be hard. Shaun: Top three. I know that's Jen: Mm. Shaun: the point. You have to pick three. Barry: Ay! Jen: Yikes. Shaun: I know two of mine. Jen: I don't know. Barry: Nobody better say candy corn, that's all I know. Shaun: The third one. Jen: I love candy corn, first of all. Shaun: If you I will put this on the record right now. If you like candy corn, we are no longer friends. So Jen, I guess we are not friends Barry: OHHHH Shaun: anymore. No, I'm joking. Candy corn is disgusting. It's so gross. It is it even flavored? I feel like it's just colored wax. Jen: I love candy corn. Barry: I would agree, Shaun. I hate candy corn. It's wax, y'all. It is flavored wax. Jen: Give me all the wax. Tastes delicious. Yeah. Barry: No, it really isn't. No, it tastes like wax. That's the flavor, wax. Jen: No. No. Well then I quite enjoy it. Shaun: Just eat real corn. Barry: It is the grossest candy ever. That Jen: Delicious. Barry: and Swedish fish. Sorry if there's any Swedish fish fans. Swedish Jen: Yeah, I don't like sweeter fish. Barry: fish are gross to me too. No, Shaun: Swedish fish is not as bad as candy corn. Barry: I would agree. Candy corn is like, Jen: You guys are ridiculous. Barry: yeah, no, it's the bottom of the barrel. Shaun: I would say what is on the same level of candy corn, I don't even know what they're called, but the little wax paper, they come in like orange and black and they're in like this wax paper. And it's just like a generic candy. Yeah. It's yeah. Gross. Barry: I know what you're talking about. Yeah, it's like a taffy, but it just comes in a wax paper. I know exactly what you're talking about. Jen: the taffy stuff? It's like a taffy. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: No, I still say candy corners bottom. Shaun: Yeah, I'll say those two are bottom of the barrel. Jen: I love a good candy corn. Little pumpkins? Mm-hmm. Eat it by the color. Barry: Good for you, Jen. Good for you. Shaun: Ugh those Barry: What what does it matter Shaun: those are even worse. Barry: it all tastes like shit Jen: Mm, it's different. Barry: Every flavor tastes like Jen: Different. Barry: the same piece of you know what? Okay anyways, to stay positive here, top three. Shaun: Yeah. Ugh. Anyway. Top three. So top three Halloween candies. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: And we're not saying full size bars, 'cause that's cheating. Halloween candies. Barry: No, Halloween candy, right? Shaun: Yeah, if you went trick-or-treating as a kid, the top three Halloween candies. Barry: What am I hunting for? Jen: Reeses's Barry: And I feel like... Shaun: I agree. However, it has to be the holiday shapes Reese's. I don't want the Reese's cups. Yeah. Give me the holiday shapes, Reese's. Yeah. Jen: Yes, yes, yes. Mm-hmm. Barry: The pumpkins are, the pumpkins hit. I give you that. The Reese's pumpkins do hit. I don't know if that would be my top three though. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Or the g it has to be top three. I feel like that's an objective fact that Reese's is top three. Not the holiday shapes. Jen: Yeah, it's for sure a top three for me. Barry: I don't think so. But you have it all year long, so to me it's not as coveted. Jen: I don't really. Yeah. Barry: Yeah, every season has Jen: And not in the holiday shapes. Barry: a Reese's cup or a Reese's shape. Shaun: Yeah, but there's Jen: That is true. Shaun: only what are the seasons though? There's Easter and Halloween and Christmas. What other seasons are there? Those are the only three. Yeah. Jen: And Christmas, yeah. Yeah. Little menorah. Arisa's menorah. Barry: Yo they probably have Hanukkah now, who knows bro? They probably have Kwanzaa, what are we talking about? They have it for all things now bro. Jen: Mm mm. That's too funny. Reese's is up there for sure. Shaun: my gosh. Reese's it up there. We'll say that. Reese's up there. Barry: If not Reese's y'all are missing out on some holidays because I don't know why I wouldn't have those if y'all if y'all don't. Shaun: That's true. The Easter, Halloween, and Christmas, Jen: So funny. Shaun: those are the only ones that immediately come to mind. So Reese's is definitely there. The Reese's Halloween shapes. Jen: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: I would say Sour Patch, those are up there too for me. Jen: I kinda was going back and forth between Sour Patch or the Nerd clusters because I've been really into nerd clusters. So good. Yeah, they come in little mini packs. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Barry: Yo, the nerd clusters are bomb anytime of year. Yeah. The little pouches. Yeah. Solid. Shaun: Are they giving those out at Halloween though? Really? Dang, okay. Tell Barry: Those are good anytime of the year. Shaun: the last time I've been Halloween, trick-or-treating. Jen: what's my last one? I really like a good Twix too though. Barry: I'm going to say KitKat Twix are probably in my top two. I love me some KitKat. Jen: Kenny's is Kit Kat. Kenny's his Kit Kat all day long. Yeah. But I think I like Twix a little bit more. Barry: That's one we fight over. You gotta go left or the right Jen. Shaun: I would either go Twix or Hundred Grand. Barry: True question left or right twigs. I'm joking. I'm joking. she said I'm taking them both. Shaun: my god, this guy. That whole Whoa, hold on. You Jen: Both at the same time. Shaun: eat both of them at the same time? No, you don't. okay, I was like, that's psychotic. Jen: Just I really don't, but you know, just I feel like people that really enjoy Kit Kats are like they think you're a psychopath if you say you take a just Barry: no, you can't eat them both at the same time on a KitKat. You gotta break them joints down. Jen: You're so funny. Shaun: Yeah, you can't just okay, those are rules. you can't you can't just bite a Kit Kat and you can't just bite into both Twix. No, it doesn't work that way. Barry: No bro, those are like, yes, you break it down, bro. Come on. No, they're made to be broken. Jen: No It's on the package, all right. Barry: No, I will bite into Jen: You're so funny. Barry: a twix. I don't break a twix. Shaun: No, you can you can bite a Twix. You can't bite both Twix at the same time. Yeah. That's Barry: no, no, no, for sure. No, that's one at a time. Shaun: psychotic. Jen: That's that shows you how I only eat Twix Barry: Same as KitKats. Jen: during Halloween because I'm like, do Twix come in a two pack? But yeah, for Halloween it's just like the little mini ones. Barry: Well, there's only one in the pack, yeah, no. No, when you buy the bar, it does come in a two Shaun: Yeah, and that one they were wine. Barry: pack. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Yeah, I think those are mine. Shaun: Yeah. Yeah. Barry: Dude, I like Skittles and Starburst though too. Jen: I do love a good Skittle. I'm not a big Starbucks person. Shaun: Talk about getting it year round. You can get twelve Barry: But when I get a pack, yo, it's easy to pound them joints, bro. Just a whole pack. Straight to the dome. Jen: No, whoa. Shaun: Straight to the dome. so you're saying Skittles or Starburst? Which one? Because Skittles you can that. Starburst you can't. You gotta eat them one at a time. Barry: Yeah, I probably have to go with the Skittles, man. Shaun: Skittles. That's fair. Jen: I do love a good Skittle. Shaun: We like a fruit candy. So good. Barry: And that's the thing, Jen: Mm. Barry: if you told me fruit candy, I could easily give you a top three. If it's a mixture, that's tough. I usually am more Jen: Yeah. Shaun: You can't have everything. Barry: of a chocolate person when it comes to Halloween candy. Jen: Same. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Because I do eat fruit candy all year round. Shaun: Same. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Especially gummies. Every every weekend I gotta get gummies. I don't know that I've had those. The lifesavers. The lifesaver sours are game changers. And Barry: Yo gummies, yo the soft sweet tarts, the chewy sweet, bro. What? The lifesavers are good too. Yeah, those are good. Jen: Yeah, anything gummy. Yeah. yes. Mm hmm. Lifesaver ones. Mm-hmm. Yep. Lifesavers are good. Shaun: also the little bite size sour punch straws. Like those are elite. Yeah. I don't Jen: Ooh, yes. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yep. Barry: Mmm, does that go? Shaun: know. I'll say, like, as far as trick-or-treating though, Rhesus Shapes is number Jen: Mm. Shaun: one. Then you have to go with Sour Patch for me. And then I think three is either gonna be between Twix and Hundred Grand. I think it's between one of those two. Jen: I do love a good hundred grand too. Shaun: I don't feel like you see them very often. So Jen: You don't. They're not Barry: No. No. Jen: they're hardly ever in the mixed packages anymore. So I Shaun: Right? Yeah. Jen: feel like they've trickled out. Shaun: But those would be my own. That's good. Jen: Yeah. It's a good one. Barry: Yeah, that'll be I don't know if we're gonna do any trick treating this weekend Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Everybody's talking about just going low key, so we'll Jen: Mm. Barry: see how much we end up with. But yeah, that was it. Jen: We'll hit up somewhere, but we have to switch it up this year 'cause obviously we cannot have candy like that in the house. Barry: you Jen: So we're gonna do a buyback this year. Each piece's worth a nickel. So Barry: Y'all setting yourselves up for failure. Shaun: What does mean? Jen: Nah, it'll be fine. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: so they go trick-or-treating and then you and Kenny are gonna buy from geez. Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: Y'all got that money. Got money. I know, but I'm saying but five cents? Jen: No, we have a diabetic son who can't eat it. They do, but Barry: They don't have sugar-free candy? Jen: who hands that out? Barry: I'm not saying who hands it out, but you could buy that. Jen: Well, even the sugar Shaun: Yeah. Jen: free ones, it's all based on carbs. And even the sugar free ones are still Shaun: Mm. Jen: pretty high carb count. Like very little Barry: Gotcha. Jen: sugar free candy is actually like, can he eat it? You Barry: Damn. Jen: know? Yeah. Shaun: What you're doing fussing? Why not a penny? Barry: Yeah, Penny would Jen: Huh? Barry: have been a way more attainable. Shaun: A penny apiece like five cents got me I don't Jen: You think five is too much? Barry: Yeah, that might. Shaun: know. Barry: Yeah, I feel like we get a lot of candy. You're going to be giving away $20 easily. Jen: that's fine. They can trade for twenty bucks. Barry: No it ain't. Shaun: No it ain't. Barry: You're a better parent than I am, Jen Jen: You're ridiculous. Barry: I am that. Anyways, that took a long time. Shaun, how was your week? Jen: Anyways. Shaun, wh wh Shaun: Well y'all have fun. If y'all Jen: wh what did you do? Shaun: Maui Maui, I didn't do anything this week. Well, I that Barry: No more car stories running out of gas. Jen: Yeah, no more no more craziness happening. Shaun: okay, so I guess I almost died a couple of times, but that was that Jen: Yep. Nothing much happened this week. I almost died. Shaun: wasn't the coffee for me. It's these crazy drivers. There was a a Porsche that cut me off and I was just like, Yeah, I'm I'm not about to let this happen. So we we kinda went back and forth. Jen: I'm sure that happens so often. Shaun: yeah, it happens way too often. Especially Jen: Yeah. Shaun: when I get right there in Austin. I don't know if you all know where two ninety and one eighty three kind of intersect. Barry: yeah. yeah. Jen: Mm, mm. Shaun: But right there, that area's freaking terrible every single time. Barry: Yeah, it's a hot mess. Shaun: So it just gets rough over there, but Jen: You just say a little prayer every time you start rolling up to it. Shaun: Yeah, God give me the the patience to deal with these people. Jen: Ha ha ha Shaun: So that I mean, that's happened a couple of times, but other than that, I have tried or I've had to kind of get readjusted to driving my car just Jen: Mm. Shaun: because it's weird with with rentals, they're not tinted. My car's tent is super dark. So I can't Jen: No, yeah. Dark. Barry: Yeah it is, you're welcome sir. Shaun: So I can't see in my car most of the time. It was by my choice. It was by my choice. We did it. Barry: That was by your choice. I told you, you didn't have to do it. Jen: Did you tint the front too, like the windshield? Shaun: No, which I mean I've kind of been thinking about. But I haven't done it yet. Well, that's what I'm saying. I'm I'm probably not going to. Yeah. Barry: Yo, if you get rid of this one, why are we gonna do that? Save it for the next one. Jen: That's true. Yeah. Shaun: Which that is something that I found too. But I've I haven't pulled the trigger quite yet, but I have found one. Barry: he's got it in his sights though. Jen: Hmm Why not? Shaun: I You say why not? It's just because I'm going through the full emotions of it. Like, do I do I really need to do it? Yeah. It's like, I know I want to. Yeah, that's like, I know I want to, but Barry: Yeah, you gotta think about it. That's a big purchase, Yeah. Yeah. See, I don't even think like that. I'm like, yo, I just want to get it. Let's do it. Jen: Okay. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Shaun: do I need to do this? that's true. Maybe I'll order it tonight. Barry: Yeah, you only live once, Tomorrow could be it. Jen: Yeah. You were saying I'm just gonna start swiping the card and Barry: Yo bro, these AI bots out Shaun: That's true. Yolo. I'm going out. Barry: here just hacking people's bank accounts now bro. You don't even know if your money's gonna be your money that much longer. Shaun: That's true. And hink hacking websites and we're not even hearing about it, but tens of thousands of websites are getting hacked and it's just happening and just all right, it is what it is. Let's see what happens. Jen: Yes. Mm-hmm. Barry: Yo, it's crazy. It's just livid, Shaun. Just Jen: Yeah. Barry: live life full. Jen: I saw this tips and tricks thing. It was like go and freeze your credit on all the things right now because Shaun: Mm. Jen: the bots are out here and I'm like, This is just ridiculous, guys. Come on now. Shaun: So free for all. So yeah, but yeah. So we'll see. Barry: Yo, we been through some things y'all. This ain't gonna stop us. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: It's not it's only gonna get worse. So what does it matter? Barry: Where are we meeting up? Where's our bunker? Jen: Ha ha. Shaun: I don't know. Jen: Start playing it now. Shaun: I'm not gonna tell anybody where I'm gonna be though. I'm just gonna Yep. Barry: It's an offline conversation. Shaun: Definitely an offline conversation. Jen: Hardburn. Shaun: but yeah, that was basically for the most part my week. Didn't really do a whole lot. Watch some football on Saturday and Sunday. Feeling I'm I still feel about Barry: How you feel? Bounce back. Shaun: the same. It's the thing that okay, so now we do have three Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: top ten wins, so that's a plus. But it's just I don't know. It's it's been a difficult season to to watch. So yeah. But I mean Barry: It's hard to feel confident. I would see that. Jen: Have you seen that video of Eli and Peyton being like I think he's adopted They sure did. They sure did. Shaun: Yeah. He's adopted. Yeah. Barry: Dang. that real or was that AI? Jen: No, it was real. Shaun: No, it was real. Barry: That was real. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shaun: It was how they do the main cast on games and things like that? It was one of those. he's adopted. Jen: And they were like watching one of his really poor plays or something and he was like, Mm, that he must be adopted Shaun: that's how it is with family though. Yeah, you roll with it. Barry: No, that is, I get it. Especially Jen: Yeah. Barry: those kind of guys. Competitive. Jen: So funny. Shaun: so that's going well. the Broncos are playing pretty well too. Especially after the Chiefs got Mollywapped Sunday night. Yeah. Barry: Yo, they got demolished last night. Jen: no. Barry: Sorry, Chiefs fans. I mean, they're still in... It's your division. Shaun: I don't care. Chiefs up. That is my division. So Barry: True. Shaun: that's happening. But I mean NBA, Miami O and three so far. So this is not starting off very well. Barry: Hey, how are you feeling about that? Shaun: I expected for there to be some struggle. Barry: Yeah. Shaun: I did not expect O and three to be the way that the season starts. Yeah. It it's difficult. When you when you have another Alpha comes in come in. Jen: Too much struggle. Too much. Barry: Yeah, y'all have had some good teams right off the bat though. Jen: Mm. Shaun: That's true, but I don't know. Barry: But. Shaun: I guess when you have Jen: Yeah. Shaun: such a the the look on your face. I w sometimes I wish the audio listeners could see the looks that we make sometimes. man. But yeah, I I think that once you have a team like Miami and a franchise that is very well established and a coach that is a fantastic coach, and you have this this new wave of players that have been coming through over the last couple of years, and then you bring in a superstar, it's gonna be difficult. There's gonna Jen: Yeah. Shaun: be some struggle that happens. It's just and three is a rough way to start. But Barry: Yeah, it's a rough start. Jen: Yeah. You think that's why really Shaun: It'll be all right. Jen: it's just they're just not meshing yet? And can they mesh? Do you think that they can figure it out? Shaun: for sure. I think that's I think that they can. I think that it's just it's gonna take time for it to Barry: They're not shooting well right now. Shaun: Yeah. And that's another thing. Klay is one of the best shooters that's ever played in the league and he's not shooting well at all right now. Barry: Harder ways than I was shooting. Jen: Interesting. Barry: I think I was watching or reading, but I think like on wide open threes, they're like 27 % or something, horribly Shaun: Yeah. Barry: abysmal. Shaun: And when you're playing against teams that are shooting the lights out. Jen: On it. Barry: And that's the thing, Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: they have the highest like effective against them. They're like fifth in the league, it's like 47 % when people are shooting three pointers against them. So yeah, you're not making them and people are making them on you. Shaun: Yeah. So it's it's it's been over. Jen: Hm. You're not blocking him. Yeah. Barry: It's hard, especially Shaun: It only gets worse. Barry: in today's NBA. It's hard to combat that. It's a lot of it. That's it, man. Shaun: That's that's all people do. It's like look at analytics and shoot threes. That's that's basically what it what it is at this point. What about Boston? How you feeling about your season so far? Barry: First game was brutal to watch. Like I didn't get to watch watch it, like keep them. Shaun: It was early. Barry: Yeah. I wasn't a fan of the early start, the two Shaun: Yeah. Barry: or three o'clock star, whatever it was. I don't know that they're just trying to get more viewership, but wasn't a big fan of that. I was going to say, and most people are working on a Tuesday in the afternoon. So, Shaun: That's not the way to do it. We're at work. Yeah. Jen: Yeah. Right midday. Barry: but yeah, it was not the best way to start the season to build a 22 point lead on the road. End up losing by I think 12 or something. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Kind of, but at the same time I think it was a quick reality check, especially based on how this preseason went to my point last time. Like maybe they walked in a little overconfident, especially when you get by by 22. They kind of went back to those old habits of shooting a lot of bad three pointers and just not exactly Shaun: You take your foot off the gas. Yeah. Barry: and not just putting somebody away when you have the chance so. But then they bounced back Friday Tatum had a horrible game Paul short shout out to Paul George turning back the clock on game one playoff P our 38 biggest debut for Shaun: Playoff P already Barry: a Celtic ever and points so that was Impressive to see the highlights for gives me Positive vibes for the season for him for sure. Friday was a good game. I didn't get to watch it but Watch the highlights and Tatum them bounce back. Had a good one. I it was like 36. Last three buckets he had in the fourth quarter were just outright dirty. put the game away. So I feel good. They're playing right now on my phones, my camera so I can't check the score. But yeah, but Jen: Mm. Shaun: I know Miami's player right now too. They're at halftime with Dallas. Barry: I don't know, I feel like I was talking about it with my friends, I don't, I don't really try and think too much until we get like to game 20. But that's Shaun: Yeah. Barry: a quarter away through the season, you start to see certain teams like how they're gonna look, I feel at that point. So it is Shaun: It's a long season. You can't press the panic button early on. So Barry: Now do people on dude in media like they you know everybody wants to click bait and the instant reactions Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: and you know the overreaction so I mean each one is just a small sample like you said of a large drawn out time so even for your heat and three is not insurmountable by any this rough but Shaun: It's rough, but yeah. Barry: that's where the Celtics were last year too. And look where they ended. So it's just you never know. But like you say, figuring stuff out when you're bringing Shaun: Yeah. It's not how you start, it's how you finish. Barry: in all these egos and talents and finding the right pieces, the right lineups and who's going to play well. It's a long season to figure all that out. So Shaun: Yeah. Which has been pretty surprising with Philly. Philly's been able to put it together pretty quickly. Yeah. Barry: They looked really good. I watched their game. What game was it? I think was it's whenever she'll when they the Cavs built a 29 point lead and blew it like Shaun: Yeah. And blew it. It was like watching the Spurs in the playoffs again. Jen: We don't talk about it. Too soon. Shaun: Too soon. My bad. Too soon. My bad. Barry: Dang, too soon. Not for me. mean, I'm enjoying it, Yo, speaking of, did you watch the Houston Spurs game on Friday? Again, I didn't get to watch it, but the highlights, I watched those. A really good game. Shaun: I didn't Yeah. That was one of the ones that caused a nightmare for me Friday my nightmare or my Friday was rough Barry: Mm. Shaun: just because F one was in town and then the Spurs game and then it was in Austin. The U T game was Saturday, so the people were here from old mint like it was just a nightmare. Barry: dude traffic is absurd. and the Spurs game was in Austin too. dude traffic was probably atrocious. Jen: Mm, yep. All of the things. Shaun: But I digress. It all worked out. But Barry: Hmm. Yo, Houston could be a sleeper in the West. If they stay Shaun: Houston's good. I think Barry: healthy. Shaun: I think the big thing for them is they got Fred Van V Fred Van Fleet back. Exactly. Barry: Yo, they had no point guard last year. had nobody to run the offense. Shaun: I think this is gonna be the turning point for them. If there is gonna be one, this is it. Barry: Yo, they're gonna be good this year. They've got a lot of talent like depth wise They got Marcus smart like coming off the bench like they've got a lot of people Shaun: This this could be a good season for them. We'll see. The West is tough. Yeah. Barry: yo, the West is wide open. feel like at this point with the injury that happened yesterday. Shaun: Yes, and I not an OKC fan, but absolute love of basketball and you never want to see an injury like that. Barry: Yo, shout out to jaydub bro. Yes. Fast recovery man. No, it's it's bad. Shaun: Yeah. Jalen Williams, hope gets feeling better. Really rough injury. Hate to see those. Yeah. Barry: Yes, for sure. Speedy recovery, bro. Yeah. I took me back to Gordon Hayward like straight up as a Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Celtic fan. It's just you never want to see that for anybody. Like you said, same team opposing team. Just a freak accident. He got bumped in the air and just came down wrong on his own leg. Shaun: And when it's non contact like that, it's just Yeah. Mm-hmm. Jen: Yeah. Barry: It's Yeah. It's sad. It sucks. Yeah. Shaun: But those are the rough ones to watch. Barry: And they lost another dude to somebody's getting they tore their clavicle or their Shaun: Jeez. Barry: Something in his shoulder, rotator cuff maybe. I can't remember. Wallace? Yes. Yes. Yeah, he had Shaun: Cason Wallace? Wait, Casey Wallace? Really? Barry: shoulder surgery today. So Shaun: Jeez. Barry: they lost those two dudes in one game. Shaun: Gosh. Barry: I don't know how long his time, think from what I read, of course, J Dub is, I don't think he's back this season, especially kind of how the Gordon Hayward thing turned out. Shaun: No, absolutely not. Yeah, no. Barry: But I don't know about the shoulder, Cason Williams or Wallace. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: But yeah, so they lost two big pieces to their team in one day, so. Shaun: Yeah. Especially after the moves they made in the off season. That that hurts their depth. Yeah. Barry: Mm hmm. Yeah, losing door. Yeah, that's a that's a their depth is definitely getting tested. I think Shaun: Yeah. Barry: they said, her Russo is the only other like guard wing on their team at like, that's able to fill those positions. So Shaun: Jeez. Barry: they might be making smooth silence to people. Shaun: Yeah, we never know. Sam Presti's good. he he's a magician. So Barry: No, nah, he's the hell of a GM dude. He makes it happen. Shaun: I'll say that him and what's his name? Boston. Barry: Brad Stevens. They make some crazy moves, but yo, they usually do work out. Shaun: Brad Stevens, yeah. Sam Presney and Brad Stevens, they make some big time moves. Yeah. So we'll see. when you're forced into it like that. Barry: What is your opinion on the drama Shaun with JT and JB? I know you like it. I know you enjoy seeing it. Shaun: I do like it. I do like Jen: He's eating it up. Shaun: it, but I I almost feel like it's a little forced. Because JT J Barry: I would agree with you bro, I'm like where is this coming from? Shaun: T's got the light skinned energy. We know light skinned dudes, they're soft. They're gonna whine and cry. Yeah. Barry: Well, is, well, he's worried about his brand. let's just be real. He's Jen: Yeah. Barry: been very, very cognizant of maintaining and protecting his brand. Shaun: Yeah. And JB, he's just too he's too smart for his own good in the way that he Yeah, the way that he does things is yeah. I don't know. I I feel like it's a little forced. There's no beef, but there might be some lamb chops and gravy. You don't like him anymore because he's not in Boston anymore. Barry: That's what they say, bro. He's the smartest guy in the room and he knows it. I wasn't a fan of the lamb chops and gravy comment. Like I get what he's trying to, like I think he was trying to be funny, but I'm just not a fan of it. And I like JB. I love JB. Like, no, I still do. I just, Jen: Yeah. Barry: I don't know. want, I just wish, not that Shaun: He's the enemy now. Jen: Mm. Barry: I don't want them to, like they don't need to be friends, but like. feel like it's just going to ruin everything that they did accomplish together. What is the end point in the comment that he made, I guess? I don't understand. Shaun: I think that it it's just to keep it moving forward because if you think about their relationship, they they were always fighting to prove that they could get along and that they could coexist. Yeah. Barry: who was top dog, yeah, or and do that too, yeah, true. Shaun: So I think that it was a little it was a I I feel like from the outside looking in, that it was Rocky already when they were in Boston because there's always this competition inside of Barry: It could have been. Yeah. Shaun: the locker room. but now that they're not in the same locker room. Of course the media's gonna play it up. Of course, you're gonna have people in the league that feed into it as well. So I feel like it's bound to happen at some point. But at the end of the day, it's I feel like they're just playing the part right now. Barry: watching the 520 and they were like it's time for to take them to turn heel bro just go straight bad just start talking raw Shaun: He's not gonna turn heel. Barry: about JB they were like just do it bro we want to see it so I don't know I don't think he will he is Shaun: Nah, he too light skinned for that. No, not at all. Too soft for that. Barry: Hmm. Shaun: I don't know. The NBA season, again, super excited about it. Minnesota. Minnesota has been absolutely fun to watch. Barry: Yo, it's off to a great start, bro. A lot of good games. Minnesota looks really good. Just living it up. Shaun: New York, the defending champions are starting out 0 3. Yeah. Barry: and three bro. and three. They lost to the magic yesterday. Shaun: So it's just who knows. We talk about parody Jen: It's a toss up. Shaun: in sports all the time. Like this is what parody looks like at this point. Barry: I'm Shaun: So yeah. Barry: excited. It's been a lot of good games that I've watched so far and it's only three four five days in Yep Yeah Shaun: Mm-hmm. yeah, we're barely a week in. So it's been nice. That does remind me. I do have a okay. So I saw this thing on, I think it was on Instagram, where it was asking the question of who has been the most influential to the game of basketball. And in the image is Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Stephen Curry. Barry: Okay. Shaun: Who has been the most influential in the game of basketball? Barry: Are we talking about what the game is today or just like overall in the history of the NBA? Shaun: I would say overall, Barry: Okay. Shaun: in like in the game of basketball, or we can even say the NBA specifically. I don't feel like that there has ever been a question that has stumped me as much as this question. Yeah. Jen: Hmm. That is the tough Barry: That's a tough one. Influential. Jen: one. Shaun: I feel like you could argue I feel like the only one that you Jen: I think you could argue argue all of them. Shaun: well, and that's what I'm saying. I feel like the only one that you can't make a super strong argument for, y'all are gonna hate me, but I feel like it's Kobe. I feel like he's the only one that you can't make a super strong argument Jen: Oof. Really? Shaun: for. Yeah. Barry: I don't know about that one. Shaun: what what Jen: Yeah. Shaun: has he done that has been incredibly influential? Barry: I think for him, no, but I Shaun: winning is great and the mentality part. Barry: was going to say, think the mama mentality, like, but I don't know if that's a thing as much anymore. But I think Shaun: Exactly. That's all I'm saying. Barry: during his, like the height of his career, I think people wanted to be him and he influenced a lot of people. mean, Tatum, Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: he Shaun: Take yeah. Barry: notes like that's one of his all time, like that's who he wants to emulate. I would go Steph just because when I look at where basketball is today, I feel like Steph had the most influence. Shaun: He's changed the sport. Barry: He changed the NBA with three point shooting. Shaun: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Barry: Before him, like you didn't shoot nearly as many threes. It wasn't an analytics thing. Like you tried to get to the hoop. You tried to get dunks, ups. You had big men who dominated like Shaq, Olajuwon, like. Harris like all those big names and big men. That was what the NBA was. You needed the big to dominate the game because you had to get boards and play inside the lane and the paint. Nowadays is the complete opposite. Like you were just talking about like, you know, teams. Jen: Yeah, y'all were literally just saying that. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: I would say Steph, when I think about influencing the NBA, he changed it. Shaun: Yeah. He changed the entire and I think it goes beyond the NBA. He's changed the way that kids play basketball. Yeah. Barry: Yes, everybody wants to shoot threes. yeah, Jen: Mm. Yeah. Barry: everybody comes in trying to be a three-point shooter. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: that's a crazy question though, cause yeah, could easily argue for any of those. Jen: Mm. Shaun: Right. You could argue all of them to an extent. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: Like Michael Jordan took basketball global. He made basketball, yeah, a worldwide sport. LeBron Barry: Yes, that's where my brain went eventually. It made it a worldwide sport. Shaun: made it to where you can be mobile and positionless. Like you can Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: play any position that you want to if you have the body to be able to do it. If you think of Steph, shooting. Allen Iverson, dude. Barry: sure. Yo the dribbling like the handles the crossovers he added all that to it. Shaun: The dribbles, the crossovers, the people that have come up. is there a Kyrie if there's no Allen Iverson? Probably not. So, you think about just the handles and the and one mixtape tour. Probably not. Barry: Probably not. This does and one ever become anything without Allen Iverson being what he was probably not Shaun: Yeah. So the only one is Kobe, which is crazy to say. He w he Barry: yeah? Nah, I still think Kobe was still influential in the game, Shaun: was influential in the game. I don't know if he's in this conversation. Barry: I still would think so. Jen: Think it is because I think it goes back to his mama mentality thing because they might have been like their influence is his dribbling. Okay. This one it's his shooting. Okay. This one it's his positionless play. For Kobe, it is the mentality and the way that he approaches games and the way that he approaches training and that stuff. Like, I think Barry: Yo, he approached it just, yeah, at another level. Jen: it's literally his change for the game was the mentality piece. Barry: Bro think about what he tore his Achilles and he walked out on the court and shot them free throws bro Jen: Ha ha ha. Shaun: That's what I'm saying. He did that. What do other Barry: like yeah. Jen: Yeah, but clearly he's Shaun: people what do other people do now to be able to match that? I don't feel like people have the same mentality as him. People don't want it like he did. Barry: They don't, but I'm saying, but I Jen: no. Barry: think he inspired people like in that, he was influential, bro. the Matt Barnes Jen: Yeah. Barry: where he didn't flinch like, yo, there's so many things that it's just like, no, I can't leave Kobe he belongs in that conversation, bro. Shaun: yeah. He he does. He belongs in the conversation. He belongs in the goat conversation as well, although he's Barry: 100%. Shaun: he's not the goat, but he definitely belongs in the conversation. Barry: Hmm, that's debatable. Shaun: It it's not a debatable dude. We will have that barbershop debate at some point. Jen: Yeah. Barry: We'll have that debate one day, Shaun. We'll set that one for the last episode. Jen: Right. Let him pre prep for that one. Shaun: Right. But yeah, I don't know. I I I think I have to agree that Steph just because he has changed the game on every single level that it exists. Barry: Dude, I just think about where it's come from. Yes, in this. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: wouldn't have said that until you started talking about it and then I was like, they were literally just saying that now basketball, it's basically just yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Makes Barry: That's the reason why it is. Shaun: Basketball's different. Basketball is essentially a different sport now than it was twenty years ago. It's not the same sport. So Barry: Yeah. 100%. No. Jen: sense. Barry: Me and my buddies will talk about that, like, how it's like, and it goes to the debate, like, you know, 90s versus, yeah, I just I'm such a hoop fan. I Shaun: Are you gonna? Jen: What's better basketball? Yeah. Barry: love basketball, no matter, like where it's at, like Shaun: Comparison is a thief of joy. Don't compare them. Let them let them be their own eras. Yeah. Barry: It is they are just two different. They're just two different eras like the 90s Jen: Yeah, let them exist. Yeah. Barry: were rough, but Jen: Yeah. Barry: I still feel like dudes nowadays could still be really because I think about the athleticism and the commitment Shaun: Absolutely. Mm-hmm. Barry: that dudes have to to basketball nowadays. Do Shaun: Mm-hmm. Barry: I think it was a more rough sport back in the day? Yes. But do I think that these dudes could not go back in time and compete against those dudes 100 % because I don't know, bro. It's just Shaun: The the dudes from the nineties wouldn't be able to keep up with today's dudes. Because they were all smokers and drinkers and stuff like that. They wouldn't be they wouldn't be able to keep up. They're gonna be gassed. Jen: Mm Well you ain't wrong Barry: Yo, they were out partying, bro, showing up. That's what I'm saying. Dudes nowadays, they literally spend close to a million dollars a year taking care of themselves. Shaun: Yeah. And if you think about Steph and going back to him and how much he is off of the ball just running the entire time. Zero percent Barry: Yo running through screens like yes no Shaun: chance that there's a nineties player that's gonna keep in keep like in contact with him. Yeah. And he was more of a baseline runner. Yeah. Barry: Ray Allen was the closest one. He came in at the late nineties. He was more early 2000s. Yeah, he was a baseline back and forth. Shaun: But you get him in that corner, he's gonna hit the shot. Barry: Now, yeah, we were talking about and I mean, yo, I'm not a LeBron hater, but I don't love him as much as you I'm not. I'm not. Shaun: You are a LeBron hater. You are a hater. Barry: I appreciate what LeBron is. And this is to my point. No, but come on, bro. Shaun: You are the definition of a LeBron hater. Okay, my bad. Finish. Finish your shot. Barry: Come on. I hate Jalen Jen: So my bad. Mm-hmm. Shaun: Ha ha ha. Barry: Brunson more than I hate LeBron James. Let's be real. What? we can have that conversation at the time. Shaun: That's wild. Why would you hate J B? We can we okay, we'll do LeBron. What were you gonna say about LeBron? My bad. Barry: His the way his longevity he that's how I feel like his definitely one of his biggest influences like to show Shaun: yeah. Barry: the longevity if you take care of yourself and you or you put yourself into the game, you can be here a long time. So you can't hate on his longevity like he's been good Shaun: yeah. Barry: for a long time. Shaun: Yeah. I think an advantage that he does have when it comes to longevity is not going through the college route. Just Barry: Mm-hmm. Shaun: because there are some colleges that just wear you out. They just beat you up. Yeah. Jen: Yeah, run you. Mm-hmm. Shaun: They just want to get as much out of you as they possibly can. Yeah. And that's who Barry: They just, you're the workhorse. Yep. Yep. For sure. Jen: Yep. I believe that. Shaun: he would have been. He would have been a one and done player if he would have gone the college route. Yeah. But Barry: 100%. If he had to, he would have been a one and done. No doubt. Shaun: I think that it's that's definitely been an attribute to him being able to have the longevity that he has. Barry: I would agree. Yeah? Yeah. Shaun: But who knows? We might only have him around for one more year, and then what happens then? Hopefully it's crazy, dog. Barry: Hopefully, no, I'm joking. I'm joking, bro. I really don't. I would love to see LeBron continue to produce. I really would. Shaun: I dude, I would just love to see him in a game one day. am I willing to pay the money for it? Hmm, no. But I would love to be able to go Barry: Mm-mm. Jen: Maybe not. Shaun: to see it. Barry: Yo look at if they play Houston. Shaun: Yeah. Barry: Houston tickets are way cheaper than San Antonio tickets. I'm driving to Houston Shaun: for sure, but it's still Barry: a week from today to go watch the Celtics Shaun: For what? What game? Jen: Mm. Barry: and the Rockets play. Shaun: Wow. Thanks for the invite, dude. Appreciate it. Jen: Mm. Barry: Yo, my brother invited me. He just said, hey, do you want to come? And I was like, sure. Shaun: it should have been like, hey, I got a buddy that might want to go Jen: You could have been like my boy Shaun too. Barry: I'll see if we can find your ticket, Shaun. Shaun: too. Nah, don't worry about it, dude. I I don't wanna be a third wheel. I don't wanna I don't wanna break up the bond. No, it's fine. It's a family thing. I under I know my place. I'm family. It's all good, dude. I I bet Ray's probably going. I wouldn't be surprised. Barry: You're not I don't care you come. I don't give a dang. It's not. my god. poor pitiful Shaun. my gosh. This guy. But yeah, if you Shaun: man. Barry: do want to see them, see if Philly comes to play in Houston. Shaun: Yeah, I'll look it up. I'll look it and let you know. And if they do, we're going. I almost I almost Barry: I'll go. Shaun: hit you up about going to Dave Chappelle tonight, actually. Barry: Yo, I kind of would like to see Dave's Chapelle in person. Shaun: I I was thinking about hitting Jen: Be great. Shaun: you up. But then I was like, I mean, he's not gonna wanna spend the money on the tickets. So yeah. Four hundred dollars. Yeah. I was like, he's not gonna wanna pay that. So Barry: Probably not if they're Yeah, no, you made the right call. Good call. No, I'm not. Definitely not. Jen: How much were the tickets? Ooh. Okay. Shaun: so we're not going. But yeah. Jen: Ha ha ha Barry: I just hate that nowadays. Like any show. Shaun: It's it's so expensive. Jen: Literally of all of them. Barry: move or not movies but any just musical acts, comedians, Jen: Concert, yeah. Barry: sporting events. It is that's the problem. You can't buy them Shaun: And so much is resale. it's so difficult to find yeah. Jen: Yeah. That is the problem. Barry: from the direct supplier and Shaun: Mm-hmm. Jen: No. Barry: then the resell market is just so stupid. Shaun: Yeah. To Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: take advantage. Barry: It's so horrible, Jen: For sure. Barry: unfortunately. Shaun: But we'll make it happen though. We'll figure something out. Barry: Now I'm down bro. I'd make the road trip shoot, I'd make the road trip to New Orleans if you want to go to New Orleans to see your boy, Bronny a play. We've talked to we've joked about the yellow we probably probably could get you Shaun: Say less. We can fly to New Orleans. I also feel like flights to New Orleans are super cheap. So we can just fly. Jen: Yeah, they are. They're very cheap. Barry: a chair. compared to gas nowadays, it probably be cheaper. Shaun: Probably be cheaper. Jen: And save you lots of Barry: For real. Jen: time. Shaun: Mm-hmm. So we can look at it. Barry: Let's look. Shaun: completely, completely changing gears here. There's this video that I saw and I threw it in the group Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: chat. I want to get your opinions on it because it's a a bit a a tinge controversial, in my opinion. Jen: It's something. Barry: It's another girl. Shaun: it's a it's another female who is talking. And I'm gonna drop in an explicit warning here. She gets Barry: She does drop some. Jen: Mm, mhm. Shaun: pretty explicit in the content that she's talking about. Barry: Drop some f-bombs. Shaun: We don't know her. We're not associated with her in any kind of way. Barry: No affiliation. Shaun: Just saw the video. Just wanna talk about it. wanna get y'all's opinions on it. So we're gonna play the video for you guys. You're gonna be able to see it. Audio only listeners. Sorry you won't see it, but you can hear it. and then we're gonna talk about it. So we'll play that now. Jen: Reddies will ever be. Barry: It's not women, it's all people. can call the cops on a bumblebee. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: I'm gonna do that next time I see a bumblebee. Shaun: you're a white woman, they'll come fast Jen: Apparently. Shaun: Don't I don't even know how to start this. Jen: Pop offshine. Shaun: What what are your thoughts? I'll I'll throw it out to y'all. Like what are your thoughts on what she's saying here? Because honestly, she's not wrong, but she's also not right. And I don't I don't know Jen: I can agree with that. Barry: I would agree with that. Shaun: yeah, I don't know where to go. Jen: I very much agree with that statement. I agree that I don't care who you are, you should not be putting your hands on somebody else. And I do that's genderless. Like you no matter what should not be putting your hands Barry: 100%. Jen: on anybody. Where I think she's incorrect, in my humble opinion, is that I there's just the way the conversation went was strange to me because I agree with what he's saying is that there just is a difference in a man hitting than a woman hitting. There most of the time. Obviously we can't say for everyone because there are some very badass, very strong women out there who can, you know, go crazy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Barry: your MSO no MMA fighters or boxers. Yo, I'll tell Shaun: Almost say, Barry, what was that look? Barry: you I'm not stepping to know female MMA fighter nor boxer. I'll tell you that. I don't care how small they are. They're trained to take people out. So definitely not there. Or that either you're now you nailed it there Shaun as well. show Shaun: absolutely not. No. Jen: Yeah. Yeah, exactly. No. Exactly. Shaun: No, they're trained in combat. No. Or or female military. Absolutely not. Jen: Yes. Yeah. Yes. But for a for a majority, a man's hit is going to do much more damage than a woman's hit. And so I think where the conversation made me be like, What are we talking about here? And it's funny because of the specific animal that she chooses to discuss and talk about. Barry: Poke a bear. Jen: Poking a bear. And we just had this darn Bear in the woods conversation. And my thought here is that she's because you guys ex said this whenever we were talking about the man versus versus bear thing, is that one of your like with that is it's makes it seem like men are inherently dangerous if you compare him to a bear, which is what she's doing. So she is incorrect in that statement if you're saying that men aren't inherently dangerous. Because she's saying it's the same thing as poking a bear. But where there's a difference is that men are men and they have logical thinking brains who can say, if I clock, Barry: Yet you would rather be with a bear. Jen: if I clock. Well, and then her but no, no, I'm not. I'm saying, based Shaun: Exactly. Yeah, you would rather be with a beer. Barry: Yet you're contradicting your story. Jen: on your response, that you were saying men are not inherently dangerous. Therefore, that Barry: I Jen: her Her comparison of, well, why would a woman, a woman wouldn't go and poke a bear, so why would she go and poke a a man? Well, a man can think about what's gonna happen and choose not to use physical violence against a woman. Barry: But where do you draw the line though? Jen: No, a hundred per I I s I hear her argument that women should not be hitting men a hundred and fifty percent. I still think no matter what. unless there is harm, truly harm, like she's going to truly hurt him, should he act in self-defense. And even then, it sh I think it should be pulled back. It should never be to where you're going to truly hurt that woman and just it's get away from me. I need to get myself out of this situation because they can most likely in in the the n I don't want to say the normal circumstance because obviously this is very circumstantial depending on in a typical, that's a good word. Shaun: In a typical circumstance. Hmm. Jen: In the typical way we think about these scenarios, it would be easy for him to use some sort of force to get her away from him and him be able to exit that situation. Vice versa, it would not Barry: What force is okay? Jen: be but I think you can't say that because it's just so situational. I think if it's a Barry: So again, where do we draw the line? Jen: I don't know if you can do that in a Barry: And I, y'all, I'm just gonna say, I don't think that hitting a woman is ever okay. Let me be 100 % clear. I think we all just said we agree Jen: No. Barry: on that, right? Shaun: We agree. Yes. Jen: But that's why I don't think you can draw a line. Barry: And to Jen's point, nobody should put hands on anybody, male, female. Jen: Yeah. A hundred percent. Barry: For a lack of a better term, fuck around and find out. Jen: Find out. See, but no, I don't like that I don't think that argument can play truly. Unless unless he is like truly about to die, like she's about to kill him in some sort of way. Like she's got a knife or a gun or something and is and is coming at him. Do Shaun: Okay. Jen: I think it would be okay to like then use hard physical violence to get himself away from that situation? Shaun: What if there's a situation where this dude, like he's let's say they're in a situation, he's sitting on the couch and she's like standing over him and just like hitting Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: him, hitting him. Just like laying into him, hitting him. Jen: Then he can shove her and then walk away. Exit said nothing. Barry: But to the girl's point, if he shoves her and she Shaun: Okay. Barry: hits her head, because he shoved her so hard and she is injured. But yo, in the Jen: Well, he shouldn't shove her that hard. You should be able to tell. Barry: moment, if you're telling me I can defend myself and I go to shove somebody, in that moment, my strength versus Jen: But Barry: what I know. And I'm not saying this is how I would handle it. I'm just playing devil's Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: advocate. It's to the same point of where they say, going to police brutality, Jen: Yeah. Barry: If you say you should be able to shoot somebody a leg and lay him down, when somebody's Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: charging at you, you're not thinking, yo, I should shoot them in the leg. You're thinking, do I feel threatened in the moment? What do I do in the moment? What I've, I am stopping this person. So to me Shaun: I'm stopping this person. Yes. Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Barry: in the moment, when a chick is continually coming at me, hitting me, kicking, whatever she's doing. And Jen: Mm-hmm. Barry: I'm not saying you would feel threatened for your life, but again, to my original question is, Where am I as a man supposed to draw the line that, okay, now I'm supposed to think logically and collectively while I'm being attacked. What is the appropriate response in this moment? I put my hands on this woman and I'm supposed to shove her to the point of controllability. I don't, I'm just saying where, where do you draw the line? Jen: I don't think you can really answer that. I thought I don't think you can draw any kind of line to say this is exactly it's black and white. It is just very situational. I do think that everyone, especially men in those situations, like if it y'all, domestic violence happens both ways, a hundred percent. Shaun: absolutely. Yeah. Jen: I do think in that mi in that same conversation. If somebody is if it's getting to the point where somebody's hitting you, you have to take yourself out of that situation. I think if it's maybe they just started walking up and just, I don't know, trying to punch you in the face. Maybe they're she's real crazy. Okay, cool. I they are. I Barry: They're out there. crazy ones are out there. Jen: think Shaun: Ha ha ha. Jen: in my in my this is not me in this situation, logical brain says you should be able to discern like how much force. That you should push said person with to get away, versus if you you have to really push somebody to get them to hit their head and like really hurt them. So I just I feel like there's a Barry: I don't know about that one though. Jen: logical way to like let me just push or maneuver myself out of this situation. And it's much Barry: soon. Jen: easier for a man to maneuver out of those types of situations than it is for a woman to maneuver out of those types of situations. Barry: Yo, more responsibility to my boy Shaun Point. We gotta Shaun: Yeah. Barry: navigate getting attacked and be logical and strategic in our pushing. Jen: No. No. That no, that's not what I'm saying. Cause I think it's I say the same thing for women in those situations. I think you have to I would hope that if I was ever in that situation, I would be able to walk away or find a way out of it and not go back to it before it ever got to said position. But again, that's me talking without being in that situation. You never know until you're in that situation how you're gonna react. But To the point of the conversation of well, what where's the line? Whatever. I don't think you can really draw that, but I think it's very easy for a man to say, if I shove the shit out of this girl, she's gonna go flying and really hurt herself. Shaun: I think that that is I think that is a thought that you can have in the moment. As a guy, if this chick is beating you, she's like hitting you, wailing into you, I I feel like that is a thought that you can have in the moment. Like, I gotta get her off of me. How am I gonna do it? Jen: Yeah, 'cause she's not actually most of the time, again, she's probably not doing that much damage to you, really. I Barry: Yo, nails hurt. Jen: mean depends. Depends. Shaun: Potentially. Potentially she's not. Jen: Yeah. Shaun: But and Barry: Teeth hurt. Shaun: I'm I'm gonna Jen: True. Shaun: I'm gonna do this. If we flip the scenario, Jen: Mm-hmm. Shaun: and let's say that there is a guy who is being abusive to a woman, Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: let's say he slaps her. At what point, Barry: Open hand. Shaun: at what point is she allowed to defend herself? Barry: And what does defense Jen: At any point. Barry: look like? Shaun: So with that being said, why does the man but Barry: So at any point, just cause she slapped him. Jen: But that's what I'm saying. Shaun: why does the man have to wait until it's at the point of her doing serious damage? Barry: He's gotta be restraint and logical too. Shaun: she's at the point of doing some serious damage the where he has to Jen: No, I don't think he I don't think he should wait at all. I think if somebody hits you, you you are allowed to push, hit, or whatever them back. I'm just saying from a perspective of again, in situations your logical brain not might not take over, blah. Shaun: It doesn't work as quickly, yeah. Jen: Yes. But I think Barry: is not. Jen: as a man, you should be able to say, if I clock this chick, if I really just go for it. I'm gonna do serious damage. That's gonna come back on me. Maybe don't do that. Maybe let me just do something to get me out of this situation. It's the same thing for a woman. I think at any point in time she can defend herself. At any point in time, he can defend himself. I just think there you clearly know that you are going to do major damage if you go full force. So don't. Shaun: I think the the biggest issue that I have with what she was saying in the video is just essentially saying that a man should be able to hit a woman and like it's fine because he's defending himself is basically what she was saying. Like if you keep hitting this guy and he defends Jen: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Shaun: himself, that's on you because you kept hitting him. While that sentiment sounds like it it builds equity and it it's fair Jen: Mm. Shaun: for you to do that. The problem with it is that she is a female saying that. As a man, you cannot even touch a woman. She can lay into you, she can be hitting you. You get up and leave the room without even touching her. She bumps into the wall, and all of a sudden you've got a charge on you because she says that you pushed her. She says that you did something. It doesn't work the other way around. Jen: But I also don't think I Shaun: It happens all the time. False allegations happen all the time. Jen: And I'm not saying that they don't happen. I think it's to think that our justice system is taking women and their situations and what they say more than what happens to men, I think is wildly inaccurate. I mean, literally the numbers do not show any kind of proof that police believe women over men. Like there's j it's just not there. Shaun: I will be interested to see those numbers. Jen: Okay. Shaun: I would be very interested to see those numbers. Because I feel like that's the same type of conversation that we have when it comes to assaults and things like that. Men Jen: Yeah. Shaun: are assaulted on a very commensurate level and rate as women. However, those numbers I have seen numbers for this. I have Barry: you Shaun: seen numbers for this. However, those are not ever reported. Those are not numbers that you ever see. Those are things that get suppressed a lot. So it it's a very, it's a very one-sided type of a conversation. a man could if a man puts his hands on a woman, that's essentially he he's going to jail at that point. A woman can do it and she's fine because he removes himself from the situation and all of a sudden everything goes away. She's fine, he's fine. The situation is over. Barry: he took the logical route. Shaun: If a man does it, That is a that's a sentence basically at that point. Jen: I love that you think that. I do think it a hundred Barry: Good for you, Shaun. Jen: percent. I do think that if a I can agree, if a man puts his hands on a woman and you have that situation versus a woman putting his her hands on a man, which one's gonna be a jail sentence? A hundred percent it's gonna be the man. A hundred percent. But I Shaun: Yeah. Jen: think that you're dramatizing. Barry: So where's the equality in that? Jen: I don't think that there can be equality in that. Literally phys No, Barry: But why? Assault is assault, brother. Jen: a hundred percent. A hundred Shaun: Thank you. Jen: percent. I again, I don't think anybody should hit anybody. If you hit somebody, that's assault. You should be arrested. A hundred percent. But I think what you the argument here is, is I'm just stating that if a man were to hit a woman, the damage that he does is going to be more than what she does. Shaun: Not necessarily though. I think I think we've established that that's not necessarily the case. It's more likely, but it doesn't mean that it's going to be the case. if if a man's Jen: No, a hundred percent. That's why we were saying typical. Shaun: if a man slaps a woman, Barry: Probability. Shaun: that's gonna hurt. If a woman is punching a man repeatedly, that's going to hurt. So I don't think that Jen: Mm-hmm. And if she is doing that, then for sure that's assault. Arrest her for sure. Shaun: But she's not the chances of her the likelihood of her getting in trouble versus the likelihood of him getting in trouble are not on the same level. Jen: And I can agree to that. I I one hundred percent can agree to that. I do think that the your thought of that it happens so much more with men and and there's like some sort of Barry: Let's this up. Jen: Okay. Truly. Because I think Shaun: And I'm not saying it happens to men Barry: I wanna see. Shaun: more than it happens to women. I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying that they're at a commensurate rate. I'm I'm not saying that men are just out here getting beat and like and then there's nothing happening. Jen: if you're saying at a comm at a commensur no, I just I would love truly t for some sort of expert in domestic violence to give us some hard numbers right now of men versus women. Shaun: I would love some numbers for it. Jen: I would love to see some hard facts on assault and all of those because I just have a very, very, very hard time believing in any fashion Shaun: Barry, what'd you find? Jen: that it is even close to each other. Shaun: Barry, what did you find? Barry: according to data from the Public Health and Justice Jen: What data? From where? Barry: Agencies like the CDC and Statistics Canada. About one in three women experience physical violence by their intimate partner in their lifetime. one in four men. So it is not that far off. Shaun: It's not that far off. And that that's all I'm saying is that they're not far off. Yeah. Barry: He didn't say it's greater than, he said it's similar to, that's not far off. Shaun: Which is just why I struggle with that type of a situation. as a as a man, you're supposed to be the one that is logical and you think and you you go through the process of what is happening. You you go through the thought process Barry: Those higher expectations, Shaun. Those higher expectations, sir. Jen: my god. Shaun: of what's happening right now. And if I respond to this, what's going to happen? Like if I respond with too much force or not enough force or whatever happens, like as a man, that's kind of what's expected of you. I don't feel like those same expectations are on females. Jen: I don't think it's expected at all because I expect a man just to be No, no, I don't. I expect him to do something and then do damage. Barry: Take it. She just wants you to take it. Shaun: Just take that, take that. I shouldn't say Barry: Just take it. Shaun: that. Not with not God. That just came out of nowhere. I mean, i i it's a no-win situation. As we said in the beginning, no one should be putting their hands on anybody else. Doesn't matter if you're male, female, what it is, you shouldn't be putting your hands on someone else. I think that's if it happens. Barry: Y'all, all agreed at the beginning of this conversation. Shaun: Exactly. Yeah, we all agree. Like you should not put your hands on other people. You should, however, defend yourself if you need to. How you defend yourself is up to you. If that is blocking, if that is leaving the situation, whatever you need to do, but you should not put your hands on other people. Barry: I guess that is why I have, it's interesting. Shaun: What do you mean? Barry: I don't know. I felt like if, I said, if a dude put his hands on anyway, grabbed, shook, shook, or protected, shoved, I think to Shaun point, that's gonna come back negatively on him. Shaun: I say there's a high a a very high chance that it would. Barry: And that's why I always go back to the question, where can we logically draw the line? Because it's, don't feel like that happened. Shaun: I agree with Jen. I don't know that you can draw a line. I think the only solution that comes to mind to me in a situation like this is as soon as you see something going left field, leave the situation. Get out of the area, get out of the house, get out of the apartment, get out of the restaurant, wherever you are. Whatever you need to do, just get out of the situation. That's the only thing that I can think of. Because nothing nothing good can come from any sort of assault. I don't know that you can't draw a line. Jen: the line should be don't put your hands on other people. And if you Shaun: It should be. Jen: put your hands on other people, there's consequences. But I think if anything, our justice some shows that it just is very situational and sometimes there's consequences, sometimes there's not. So we can argue till the end of time of every situation and every situation's gonna be different. Shaun: Yeah. Jen: And every situation's gonna have a different outcome that not everybody's gonna agree with. So Shaun: I don't know. I don't know that there is a way out of it. Other than choose your partner carefully. The people that you choose to spend your time with, be very careful in those types of situations. Never Barry: Domestic abuse is never okay, I know that. Shaun: okay. If Jen: Mm. Shaun: you're in a situation and you need help, get help. Get out of it. Whatever you need to do to get yourself out of that, get out of it. But you should not be putting your hands on other people. I think we can Not think, I know, because we've done it several times. We can all agree on that. Like, just don't put your hands on other people. Don't start no stuff, won't be no stuff. Everybody's good. Barry: 100. Shaun: I'll got quiet on me. Still nothing? man. Barry: I agree. I agree. Shaun: All right. Well, I guess let's get out of here. Off off of DV. Don't touch people. I guess that's the moral of the story. Don't touch people if you don't need to, if you don't Jen: Keep your hands to yourself. Shaun: have to. Keep your hands to yourself. watching mouth too. That's another one. Make sure they watch Barry: he's Shaun: mouth. Barry: going down another path. Shaun: I'm going down another path. I'm saying everybody watching out. Just don't I feel like that's where a lot of it starts. Barry: You can't say crazy stuff to people either, bro. Shaun: Ex exactly. You can't just go around saying crazy stuff to people. Because if you do, that's where these types of situations come from. Because people just start running Jen: Mm. Shaun: off at the mouth and Barry: But don't play the victim if you don't want to here cussing people out and calling people racist names. Shaun: That's true too. Don't start no stuff, won't be no stuff. Barry: Don't start no stuff, won't be no stuff. Shaun: All right, well let's get out of here. Barry: Don't go poking bears, y'all.
