- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Hi there, everyone, and welcome to another episode of Rise Up, Live Joy Your Way.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: I am Comedy Wood, and I thank you so, so very much for joining me for this few minutes of your day.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: I'm hoping that through this podcast and through these short little bursts of information that it can have a healthy impact on you and your life as and just hopefully help you figure out how to uh really define success and happiness for yourself.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: And on that note, uh I've been doing a series on how to cultivate happiness.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: And as I mentioned before, the reason for this is as of late on several of my client calls, as well as just the calls that I've been having with people who have reached out to me, a common theme has been how do I create happiness?
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: How do I get happy?
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: You know, and oftentimes we find our sayings saying things like, I'll be happy when I can get, you know, that promotion, I'll be happy when I can find that mate.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Uh which, you know, it's true.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: There is a sense of happiness that happens when we achieve those things or we we uh find the the partner that we're gonna spend our life with, absolutely, but oftentimes we forget that true happiness has to be an inside job.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: We have to cultivate happiness from the inside out, because when we only are happy from external places, we are not in control of whether those external forces will continue to exist or whether they get moved.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: And so when we can internally drive our happiness, when we can really feel it from the inside out and cultivate it from that place, we know that we can always anchor back into it.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: We can find it, we can anchor into it, and it and it it's something that we intrinsically know is there.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: So the last couple of days we were talking about things like being present and letting go of comparison.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Today it's all about gratitude.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: And I know we hear about oh, you need to have a gratitude journal, you need to have a gratitude practice.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: I I will freely admit, you know, I was one of those who's kind of like, okay, okay, okay.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: But the truth of the matter is, is gratitude is honestly the foundation of uh not just creating happiness, but I I see it as a foundation of being being able to raise that vibration level, you know, being able to get to that place of joy and love.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: And it's because when we can practice gratitude, we are really anchoring into, you know, what is going right?
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: What are the good things that are happening?
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: Because even in a world where there are twists and turns and we're getting hit with these curveballs, when we can find that nugget, that nugget to be grateful for, that nugget of, oh, I learned this and I can apply this, you know, just something to anchor into and to feel grateful for, it can grow and we can build upon that place.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's honestly that that bedrock.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: It having a gratitude practice, having a time in your day when you just reflect on, you know, things that you're grateful for, people that you're grateful for, things about yourself that you're grateful for, we're able to really improve our mood.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: It raises our resilience, and it truly increases the optimism.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Because even when everything seems like it's going wrong, if you can look for that one right thing, that one thing to anchor into to be grateful for, we can start building upon that.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: And so really uh uh allowing space to look at the blessings that you have, look at the the things that you are learning along the way, how you're growing each day, because we know that even out of really tough times, our growth is exponential.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: You know, when we really look at the challenges that we have, and each challenge, we learn things along the way and we can be grateful for it for those newfound, um, that newfound knowledge.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: And studies have shown that when we when we are grateful and we have an active practice, it actually does rewire our brain to look for those positive things even in the hardest of times.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: And we're able to cope with our negative emotions.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: Again, you know, we're not emotions are not meant to be put in a box and not meant to be felt, you know, or dealt with.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: It's they're meant to be in energy.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: They're they're motion, right?
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: They're meant to be energy in motion.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Emotions are meant to be felt, they're meant to be experienced, but gratitude can help us cope with the ones that don't feel so good.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: And they can help us reprogram our subconscious into uh being in a more positive place.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: So when we're looking for ways that we can cultivate happiness, an active gratitude practice is absolutely one of those ways that can help us really create a foundation for building more positivity into our world.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: So today I would challenge you, just if you can, you take some time, it maybe even at the end of your day, and just label for yourself three to five things that you're really grateful for.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: I often say to my clients, you know, if you can just get into a practice of labeling three to five things in your personal life and your work life, and just three to five things even about yourself that you're grateful for at the end of each and every day, and get into a practice of that, that habit will help cultivate happiness in your every day.
