- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. We made it to episode 101! Lucas: That's a lot of Italian. Today, we're going to the park again, but this time we're playing sports. Luna: Oh, I love sports. Let's learn how to say 'let's play soccer' in Italian. Lucas: Perfect. First phrase: Giochiamo a calcio. That means 'Let's play soccer'. Luna: Giochiamo a calcio. Giochiamo a calcio. Lucas: Excellent. Giochiamo is 'let's play', a calcio is 'soccer'. Luna: So if I want to ask someone if they play tennis, how would I say that? Lucas: You'd say: Giochi a tennis? That's 'Do you play tennis?' Luna: Giochi a tennis? Giochi a tennis? Got it. Lucas: Now, to say 'I play basketball', it's: Gioco a pallacanestro. Luna: Gioco a pallacanestro. That's a long word. Lucas: It is. Pallacanestro means basketball. Break it down: pallacanestro. Luna: Pallacanestro. Pallacanestro. Okay, I think I got it. Lucas: What if you don't play soccer? You can say: Non gioco a calcio. Luna: Non gioco a calcio. So non makes it negative. Lucas: Exactly. And to say 'I like to play volleyball': Mi piace giocare a pallavolo. Luna: Mi piace giocare a pallavolo. Mi piace giocare a pallavolo. Lucas: Let's practice a little scene. I say: Giochiamo a calcio? You answer: No, non gioco a calcio. Giochi a tennis? Luna: Okay. Giochiamo a calcio? No, non gioco a calcio. Giochi a tennis? Lucas: Sì, gioco a tennis. Mi piace giocare a tennis. Luna: Perfect. So we have: giochiamo a calcio, giochi a tennis, gioco a pallacanestro, non gioco a calcio, mi piace giocare a pallavolo. Lucas: You've got them all.
