- 0:00even that is existent is negative, has a spark of godliness that sustains it.
- 0:09So you can be in front of the most evil person that exists in the world.
- 0:15Even that person, this most evil person, has something positive in it.
- 0:32Today we are going to cover Psalm 36.
- 0:38And Psalm 36 is a psalm that describe the inner voice of the yetzer hara.
- 0:46I will like to explain what is the yetzer hara.
- 0:50Then leads our awareness toward the infinite kindness, righteousness, and divine providence of Hashem.
- 1:00Finally conclude with a prayer that Hashem will grant us a satisfaction and that we will not subdued to the yetzer hara.
- 1:14Psalms 36 is divided in three parts.
- 1:20So the beginning where is only an introduction, like all the psalm, lamenatzeach, for the chief musician by David, servant of the Lord.
- 1:31The content start from verse two to the verse 13.
- 1:36The verse two to five, King David elucidates the actions of the wicked who are predominantly influenced by the yetzer hara, which distorts human perception and obscures awareness of Hashem.
- 1:55This is what the yetzer hara do to us.
- 1:59In verse six to 10, David is expressing his devoted trust to Hashem.
- 2:06And recognition of his loving kindness that transcends even human comprehension.
- 2:14We cannot imagine what is the kindness of Hashem.
- 2:19Divine providence sustains all creation, from the tiniest creature in the world to the depths of the sea.
- 2:30Means Hashem is above in heaven and down even under the earth.
- 2:38This is the extension of Hashem kindness.
- 2:43And because Hashem is everywhere.
- 2:46Hashem is here, Hashem is there, Hashem is to the left, Hashem is to the right.
- 2:51Hashem encompass everything of our existence.
- 2:56And at the end, the verse 13 is a, prayer where we are affirming the connection with Hashem.
- 3:04That express in our soul that is illuminated when perceive divine light within existing and within every one of us So the Psalms explains what is the Yeser Hara and explain here that the ye- Hasidut, in the masterpiece of Chabad Lubavitch the Tanya Rabbi Schneur Zalman, explains the difference between two type of soul that we have that represent one the body, that is called the nefesh habamit, the animal soul.
- 3:54And the godly soul, that is called nefesh Elokith.
- 3:58The divine soul.
- 3:59We have two tendency.
- 4:03One is the body, and one is the nefesh.
- 4:09They are in constant argument.
- 4:13They want to conquer the body.
- 4:17They want to conquer us, our existence, and we are i- in a constant battle, I choose, my desires or I choose something that is holy.
- 4:29So the animal soul prioritizes physical survival.
- 4:35Is very important, the animal soul because that is what given us the...
- 4:40our ex- our life that we live in this world, is that we have to take care of our bodies.
- 4:48We have to feel, to live in comfort.
- 4:51We have to...
- 4:53We have emotions.
- 4:55We have desires that are completely legitimate.
- 4:59We want to have a beautiful house.
- 5:02We want to have a wonderful life.
- 5:05We want to travel.
- 5:06So that are the needs.
- 5:08We have to buy a new car.
- 5:10So those are the needs of the animal souls.
- 5:15And to the contrary, we have the other side, that is the side of divine soul.
- 5:23And the divine soul has an spark of godliness within us.
- 5:27Hashem has give us this life, this soul that is the godly soul, and is what enliven our body.
- 5:38The Godly soul yearns to connect with Hashem.
- 5:43Like the flame of a candle that always goes up.
- 5:47Hashem seek, and seek the truth, and practice kindness, and transform our physical existence into a vessel to divine light.
- 6:01It's the source of our spiritual aspiration, and this is what is the Yetzer Tov.
- 6:10good morning Natalie and good morning Batya So I continued.
- 6:15We are talking about Psalm 36, and Psalm 36 is divided in three parts.
- 6:24The first part, speaks about the, definition of the, animal soul.
- 6:31Ex- explanation of that is what sustains and predominate in the evil, part.
- 6:37Because all of us, we have an evil part and a good part, the animal soul that call in Kabbalah, Nefesh Abamit, that means animal soul, and Nefesh Elokit, that is the divine soul.
- 6:51So the divine soul is in a spark of godliness that all of us carry inside.
- 7:00These two forces struggled for control over our thoughts, emotions, and action.
- 7:07Sometimes we get confused.
- 7:09We don't know clearly.
- 7:11I know that I am not doing right, but this action is what I need.
- 7:16I am not going to give all my money because this money is what I need.
- 7:20it's too much.
- 7:21So that are the conflict between of giving Tzedakah, giving a charity, or keeping for ourself.
- 7:31The Yetzer Hara is very intelligent.
- 7:34Is very persuasive sways to deceive, and manifests through self-justification.
- 7:42Yes, I have to do that because that.
- 7:44Pride, I represent myself, my ego.
- 7:49Resentment, I feel resented.
- 7:51Selfishness or indifference.
- 7:53There are people that are very indifferent for different reasons through the history of their life.
- 8:01His greatest threat is a spiritual concealment.
- 8:06That is what the Yetzer Hara create.
- 8:10Create a concealment of our Godly soul.
- 8:15As we become absorbed in ourself and our desires, we lose awareness of Hashem presence because we are so concentrate, so focused in ourself, in our daily, life, that we don't set aside a time for our connection with Hashem.
- 8:36Only when something is very painful, when we feel something is bad in our life, so then we feel that we need to pray and return to God.
- 8:47On the contrary, the divine soul awaken us to a higher reality, encouraging humility, compassion, self-awareness, and recognizing our life's divine purpose.
- 9:03The animal soul limits our perception, confining us to ourself, while the divine soul, expands our consciousness, enabling us to perceive Hashem in all of creation.
- 9:22So that is the first part of the psalm.
- 9:25The second part is the center the, psalm, is expressing, the beauty of Hashem and how we get amazed about everything that exists.
- 9:40And compare, two options.
- 9:43Compare something that could be insignificant to something that is above, something great.
- 9:52Let me read this part.
- 9:53I think that is important.
- 9:55Say David,"Your kindness, Lord, extends to the heavens.
- 10:00Your faithfulness reaches the sky." And say, continue the seventh and says,"Your righteousness like mighty mountains.""And your judgments extend to the great deep.
- 10:14Lord, you save man and beast equally." Because God's righteousness and faithfulness extend to everything He has created, man and beast alike So in the Talmud, Rabbi Johanan,, one of the Tannaim, explained this verse by observing two creatures and reflecting on them One creatures is a tiny ant that looks insignificant, that you can crush with your hand or with a finger.
- 10:52And a bird that dive into the sea and dives very deep to the darkness into the sea in order to capture his press.
- 11:05His victim.
- 11:06That is the word.
- 11:06Correct.
- 11:07So that represent two things.
- 11:11The comparison between the mighty mountains.
- 11:14Does that symbolize Signifies the divine providence.
- 11:20The diving bird represents the mystery of divine judgment, including the taking of life.
- 11:29And that is very profound because, here is a prey a victim in the case of the bird, this is part of his life existence.
- 11:41He live from those fish that he can capture there at the, depths of the sea.
- 11:47Symbolically, the ant represent the smallest details of existence, while the ocean represents the concealed dimension of creation.
- 12:01Hashem is present in both visible kindness and hidden ways.
- 12:07So we can see Hashem visibly in reality when we contemplate the greatness of nature, the greatness of Hashem, when we are in front of the Niagara Falls, and we see the enormous power and the pressure of the water.
- 12:28and beside that, we know that there is something that we cannot see, that is not revealed, like what exists under the sea So Hashem give sustenance to everything, to every creature of the world.
- 12:45And every creature receive exactly what it needs.
- 12:50And even they have tools in order to get what they needs.
- 12:57Even a serpent that is a one I will get scared only to see a serpent that can be, poisonous.
- 13:09But the serpent has a senses that are extraordinary.
- 13:16Even that they can, run, on the Earth, they can sense a person that can be very far distance.
- 13:26They can perceive their victims very far and know how to attack them.
- 13:33So the way that the, a serpent is made, his body is appropriate in regard of what she needs to do.
- 13:43So that is what is extraordinary.
- 13:46At the same time, every organ of our body has a function, and every organ of our body is connected with our soul that gives life.
- 14:00And every part of our body has not only a function, has a architecture, a type of cells that in connection with other organs, let's say I am connecting the lungs w- with the heart, that create a, complete function that permit us live and exist in this world Now I go, I reach the two last, the three last psalms.
- 14:30David says,"Extend your kindness to those who know you," he says And your righteousness to the upright of heart, those whose internal compass always point toward God, and who are therefore devoid of the crookedness and deception.
- 14:53So that is the word of David.
- 14:56And he continues, and he said,"Let no arrogant thougth come to me." Don't let that I will be arrogant, that my pride will conquer my soul.
- 15:09And let no hand of the wicked drive me away from you.
- 15:15This is another very important thing, not to let that any negative influence will change my mind and will, change my attitude towards Hashem.
- 15:27And finally, he says,"There in the proximity of God, the evil doers have fallen, cast down and unable to rise." in conclusion, King David says, begins the Psalm 36 with the wicked who has forgotten Hashem and concludes with a soul illuminated by His light.
- 15:57Between these two spiritual states lies the mystery of creation.
- 16:03The tiny ant walking almost unnoticed upon the earth remind us that no life is insignificant before Hashem.
- 16:14The bird descending into the depths of the sea remind us of divine providence, reaches even those places hidden from human sight.
- 16:27And the human neshamah, we, are endowed with the ability to choose.
- 16:35That is who we are.
- 16:38We have the ability to choose between good and evil.
- 16:42We carry an extraordinary responsibility in us.
- 16:47That is our responsibility, to know how to choose good in favor of bad, to harmonize and to, use our body, our energy, our physical energy in the service and in the recognition of Hashem, and bring His light into this world.
- 17:10That is our mission in this world.
- 17:13So thank you.
- 17:14So that is the Psalm.
- 17:26So I would like to hear from Hannah How, what it is your thought about?
- 17:33No, I'm just absorbing so much the, the way, this psalm expanded the notions of the Yetser Tov and Yetser HaRa.
- 17:46But I would say that what was like a, a light opening, a opening, a light bulb for me, opening a, a whole new door, was that, hey, wait, animal soul, it's natural.
- 18:01It's part of us.
- 18:02It's for survival.
- 18:05But if you give too much attention to the animal soul, then you're going into the evil inclination, the Yetser HaRa.
- 18:14that was the, the big, like- Yes wow, eureka, I really appreciate that.
- 18:20Yes.
- 18:21Excellent.
- 18:21Thank you.
- 18:22Excellent.
- 18:22This is it.
- 18:23This is it.
- 18:24That's why you have to take care of your body.
- 18:26Absolutely.
- 18:29But in a way that you bring, you use your body for holiness.
- 18:34Julie, how are you?
- 18:37I'm great, thank you.
- 18:38Thank God.
- 18:39Yes.
- 18:40Okay.
- 18:42You use your body for holiness, Okay, let me write that down.
- 18:46I heard something yesterday, and I want you to clarify this for me to see if I heard it right.
- 18:52The yetzer hara.
- 18:53First of all, when we say yetzer hara, and we use the word evil, okay?
- 19:00I think we need to understand a little bit more about what the definition of evil is.
- 19:05Okay?
- 19:06That's one thing.
- 19:08Two is, what I heard was, is that with the yetzer hara, yeah, it pushes your buttons.
- 19:17But ultimately what it wants for you is ultimately for you to choose your holy soul.
- 19:25it's really, it gives you this, but it's also your cheerleader to say,"I really want you to choose your holy soul.
- 19:32Even though I'm fighting this with you, in the struggle, but I ultimately want you to choose your holy soul." Did I hear that correctly?
- 19:41the last part of that, demand us to choose the holy or the, godly soul is, I want to, to a little bit modify that.
- 19:56Okay.
- 19:57So, let's, a- start with understanding what is evil.
- 20:03Okay.
- 20:03Yeah, I think that would be really helpful.
- 20:05What is evil?
- 20:06What is evil?
- 20:07evil has different degrees.
- 20:11Okay?
- 20:12There is difference intensity of evil there, but in, in essence, evil is me.
- 20:22My need.
- 20:23I need to fulfill my needs My needs.
- 20:26I want to do everything because the, this is what I need.
- 20:32For example, at the level of, a leader, there is two type of leaders.
- 20:41You can find a leader that have a lot of power, and everything that he does is only for his own glory- Good.
- 20:52Okay.
- 20:52Got it his own benefits- to enrich his name Enrich.
- 20:57Okay?
- 20:59And you have another leader that also is a good leader, but is a leader that looks for the wellness of his people around.
- 21:10Okay.
- 21:11So that is what I will say this is the definition of evil.
- 21:16Now, Hashem creates the two extraordinary powers, a power of good and a power of evil.
- 21:28That is in our hands.
- 21:30He says you have to choose what you prefer because Hashem doesn't want to create a world that is a world of robots, of automatic beings.
- 21:50He could give us everything in a tray.
- 21:54M- why he has to give us temptation?
- 22:00Why we have to have this battle, a struggle between those two forces?
- 22:06So Hashem wants us that everything will come from us.
- 22:12Is that we are going to express in our mind, it means our thought, in our speech, and in our action, his rules, his commandments.
- 22:26But not as a command because it's a demand of Hashem, no a command because he's imposing into us, Okay, don't touch that, but why?
- 22:42So that, that are the things that Hashem wants, that everything will come naturally.
- 22:49We will build a, a, a being, we will be a being that, in essence, we will be connected with him, connected with our mission, and that is what he wants.
- 23:03How we can connect with our mission?
- 23:05Connected with him.
- 23:06Recognizing his greatness.
- 23:10That's why in the middle of this psalm, you have the recognition of what the existence of nature.
- 23:21tely, iLooks insignificant, but they have- an extraordinary intelligence.
- 23:29Even a little plant.
- 23:31There are plants that are in the, rock, and they cannot move from there, so they capture little, insect or little, animals, that exist there in order to sustain their life, because every existence has to sustain their life.
- 23:57We need breath in order to fulfill our life.
- 24:02and this is the way Hashem created.
- 24:07He created a, human being to be his mirror image.
- 24:15Imagine that.
- 24:17We in the image of Hashem.
- 24:19So that is the reason that he creates all these different forces- in order for us to reveal ourself, to go to the surface of ourself and be I am here, and that is what give us also self-confidence- in a way that is with humility, but we are confident.
- 24:50And we are not going to let anyone, to put us down.
- 24:57I think that Hannah wants to add something.
- 24:59Right, Hannah?
- 25:01No, I was not asking, but since, you gave me, the word, would you say that this psalm would be mostly read for when you are struggling between, like when you maybe want the Hashem's presence to be more and more, Yes, yes powerful?
- 25:23Absolutely.
- 25:24In your life.
- 25:24Exactly.
- 25:25this is the message.
- 25:27Yeah.
- 25:28Okay, thanks.
- 25:29Emunah tovah So part one is the animal soul, revelation of, how we were created.
- 25:41And then part two is the beauty.
- 25:42Would you say part three is the protection?
- 25:45trusting the- It's a prayer.
- 25:47It's a prayer at the end that, that David's, after that he recognize, the, the negativity of the wicked.
- 25:55He says,"Okay," and the wicked is arrogance.
- 25:58he's asking that arrogance will not touch him, and he will not be influenced by any negativity around him.
- 26:07So that is the end.
- 26:08I think that- So being surrounded by Hashem and being protected.
- 26:12Exactly.
- 26:13that is the end.
- 26:13Like a shield, basically.
- 26:15Exactly, yes.
- 26:16Yes, it is.
- 26:18Okay.
- 26:19Dr.
- 26:19Yoon Yeah, I- I'm still formulating my thinking, but, also because we talk a lot about good and evil and, what is evil, but also, I remember the commentary from, Noah that, there is really- No evil in upper world, and the lower world is reflection of upper world, so really there is no evil.
- 26:54But, I, then I question that we perceive things as sometimes evil, and I wonder if this is something that whether we understand or don't understand.
- 27:08because, also the commentary from this week Parsha when, I learned very interesting commentary about why Abraham was advocating, about Sodom when, Hashem tried to, destroy them.
- 27:26and is- they did such evil, and Hashem wanted to destroy them, and but, I, I heard the com- commentary that, that Abraham had some prophecy to see there was, there i- there was important person, coming from Sodom, who was actually Lot, who was saved, and, that's the King David and Moshiach from the Moab coming from the Lots, Right from the Sodom.
- 27:54And, i- at first time I didn't understand that.
- 27:57w- I thought why Abraham was advocating such evil people.
- 28:02But that kinda comes back to, it's whether maybe we understand or not underst- we don't understand.
- 28:11It's i- we don't have that kind of a wisdom to understand that everything what Hashem does in this world, and we do have the limitations.
- 28:21I see evil kind of in, in a different light, and it may not be just a clear, good and evil, but something that we understand Hashem's plan or we don't understand, and then maybe someday we will have, wisdom to understand.
- 28:37And we don't see that as evil, then, but we see the goodness within it.
- 28:44it just got me think a little bit further about good and evil.
- 28:48Let me explain something.
- 28:51you know a what you are saying is correct in many aspect, but something is your, in your perspective is something that I would like to clarify it And it is that you said that if there is good here, it, what is here is a reflection of above.
- 29:12Correct?
- 29:13That is correct.
- 29:14This world is a reflection of the, of above.
- 29:18But above there is, we have Hashem even in the spiritual world, there is evil.
- 29:29There is 70 ministers from the 70 main nations of the world, and the evil exist, and that is the deep, this battle, these wars that we are seeing today in Ukraine, and in Middle East, those are a reflection of that evil that is above.
- 29:55There is this SARIM the, these ministers, they are fighting between them, and they know that Moshiach is going to come very soon, and they are rebelling against that.
- 30:09So that exist evil, is something that we cannot deny it.
- 30:16We see what happened in October 7.
- 30:19We cannot deny the evil.
- 30:24So in the above, Hashem also has a court of angels, one positive and one negative.
- 30:34You have that in heavens.
- 30:37And another point that I want to clarify it is, this thought went out from in my mind, is that even here in, that every existence, even that is existent is negative, has a spark of godliness that sustains it.
- 31:04So you can be in front of the most evil person that exists in the world.
- 31:10Even that person, this most evil person, has something positive in it.
- 31:16In a, and in a proportion probably of 1 to 90, but ex- or 10 to 90.
- 31:25The everything, because if there is no something good in a being, the being cannot exist.
- 31:33There is no existence.
- 31:35So that, explained that sometimes you can nullify the evil is, that is in front of you, depending of your perception and depending of the power of energy that you may put in.
- 31:53It is like quantum physic.
- 31:56Depending of your eyes, depending of your energy, you can subdue the negativity.
- 32:04So that are the points that I wanted to clarify.
- 32:08It's true that Hashem has a plan, a huge plan, and that's why, from Lot came Moab, and from Moab is going to, to come, Moshiach.
- 32:19That is completely correct.
- 32:21And why is that?
- 32:22How come we can accept that something so holy as Moshiach can derive a source from Lot or from an insect between Lot and one of his daughters?
- 32:36How we can accept that?
- 32:38Is because those spirits that are negative and evil, they want to disrupt the flow of the, energy that is the flow to bring back the peace in the world.
- 32:57And we need to disguise When a woman is pregnant, at the beginning of her pregnancy, she should be quiet and not to tell anybody about her pregnancy because that may bring a negative emotion in other person towards her So that is the idea.
- 33:23Correct?
- 33:24Are you with me, Eyune?
- 33:27Yes.
- 33:28Thank you.
- 33:29Okay.
- 33:29Batya?
- 33:30Batya Ariela Here we go.
- 33:34Okay, so when Hashem said that, he'd finished the six days and, or on the seventh day, and he said it was very good.
- 33:46He already knew the end from the beginning.
- 33:50So everything that he has created, is good.
- 33:54It's going along with his plan even if we don't see it.
- 33:58Even if what our perception is evil.
- 34:04What we perceive, what we define as evil, Hashem had said is very good.
- 34:12and it goes along with his plan because he has a backup plan to a backup plan to a backup plan.
- 34:18and so my question is in verse four, it says, in my translation it says,"The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit.
- 34:33He has ceased contemplating to do good." To me, that is pure evil.
- 34:41When you stop even considering to do good, for a diabetic, an overabundance of carbs is evil.
- 34:51For somebody who has heart condition, an overabundance of salt is evil.
- 34:57So the definition of what we consider to be evil or good, we place words like that on Hashem that don't describe because it's the only thing that we understand.
- 35:12But to say, like in verse eight,"How precious is your kindness?" I wonder how many times we actually look at that part, the kindness of Hashem.
- 35:26That all of this was done with his kindness.
- 35:31And that's...
- 35:32Okay.
- 35:33Yes, yes.
- 35:34very good.
- 35:35Excellent.
- 35:35What I want to say here is- you said yourself, you answer yourself saying when you say that everything is relative.
- 35:46Well, for a diabetic, it's an excess of sugar.
- 35:50For a, for the, hypertens, per- person will be excess of fat, excess of salt.
- 35:59So that, that depend of the situation.
- 36:02Everything is relative also.
- 36:06Everything depend.
- 36:08And Hashem created the evil.
- 36:13He created the bad.
- 36:15That is...
- 36:15he created darkness, and there is a reason of darkness.
- 36:20He created that we have to go to sleep at night because i- in, even that, we are very busy during the days and we are in a huge project, we have to go and sleep.
- 36:31You have to make a pause.
- 36:33So that is part of a action that seems...
- 36:39a, another example, a mother.
- 36:42He can give a patch to her child because he's behaving bad.
- 36:47The, the patch may hurt, but it was necessary.
- 36:53So that- That's right that, that is what I said.
- 36:56So that, this here is kindness because in essence, Hashem's only want to create a perfect world.
- 37:07The world that we live is imperfect, and he wants us to perfect the world.
- 37:14if an animal like a lion devour his, his victim, he is bad?
- 37:21No, he is not bad.
- 37:23He's doing what he was created to do.
- 37:25Exactly.
- 37:26This is the reason.
- 37:27This is the way that all the dynamic of the world.
- 37:31you can have a, the strong power of a, of the water, like in a cataract, in a, in a fall, but from there comes energy.
- 37:42From there they can extract the energy from a whole country.
- 37:47So that, that is means that what seems, the bistoury of a surgeon seems he's cutting.
- 37:56but that is for a good reason and we have to, like you said, we, there is areas that we don't understand, and there is many areas that we have because we have a limited mind.
- 38:12But we have to live in an, in a post that this is Hashem plan.
- 38:22they kill a, a child.
- 38:24Okay, this is very painful, but this is part of Hashem plan, and we cannot discuss or judge that.
- 38:34We can ask, but not to judge that Hashem is bad because I have a little, a child of five years and he ha- and this child is affected by cancer.
- 38:47Poor child.
- 38:48That is correct.
- 38:49It's a lot of suffering for everyone, but we cannot judge the plans of Hashem.
- 38:56You don't know what happened with this soul before.
- 39:00You don't know what is the message of that.
- 39:02You don't know how that will make even the parents will transform their attitude to their children in a better way because they lose one child and they have another three.
- 39:14So those other three children are, for them,- more precious, and they, may even, they may appreciate them in a different way.
- 39:24So is, there is many things here that, the only thing that we know, that Hashem is everything.
- 39:33and with complete devotion because m- who I am nothing.
- 39:38I am only a messenger of God.
- 39:41Okay?
- 39:41Amen.
- 39:43Okay, Amy.
- 39:43I would like to hear from you, Amy Amy?
- 39:49Okay.
- 39:50I move to Natalie.
- 39:51Meanwhile, she, respond.
- 39:53Natalie I'm sitting here thinking about what I wanna say.
- 39:57I don't have a lot to add other than just that I related, be it good or bad, I relate to this Psalm a lot because I think I, and maybe it's just a heightened awareness since I've, we've been, I've been do- doing these classes.
- 40:17But I find myself consciously often struggling with the, with my two souls.
- 40:24When I'm making choices and at a conscious level I will say to myself,"You know what's going on here," and this isn't what Hashem wants you to be doing.
- 40:33We're not talking about awful things, but, just n- bad decisions about what I'm eating or whatever.
- 40:40And, it, so this, it...
- 40:42I, when I read this Psalm before class for the first time, I was thinking, you ought to walk around with this Psalm, Natalie, and just read it more often, and then I, and then when I'm doing something that I shouldn't be doing and I think about Julie and I think about pause, give it a little bit more thought.
- 40:59so this is, I like this Psalm.
- 41:01I think it, it has a lot of meaning for me, but I don't really have a lot more th- to offer.
- 41:06Thank you.
- 41:07Thank you.
- 41:07So the, when you are choosing something, this or there, you have to think,"Is for my benefit only?" That is the question.
- 41:18It's only for me that I am doing this?
- 41:21Yeah.
- 41:21and, you know- Yes and honestly, it is, and it's, big decisions where if I did something that I shouldn't be doing, it would be terrible, I make the right decision.
- 41:31It's the little decisions throughout the day- Yes, that's true that that are, that I think about,"You know better than this, Natalie," and then I, this is your animal soul that's trying, that's talking louder than your Godly soul.
- 41:44Again.
- 41:44And are you gonna give in?
- 41:45Yeah.
- 41:46And sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't.
- 41:48it's self-discipline.
- 41:49Yes, like everyone.
- 41:50Thank you so much.
- 41:51Emmy, are you there back?
- 41:55No.
- 41:56Renee?
- 41:58I'm just enjoying listening to everybody.
- 42:00I don't really have anything else to add.
- 42:02But I agree with everyone, and I do agree with Natalie.
- 42:06I go sometimes through these jumping jacks of is this my godly soul or my animal soul, and what's the right decision?
- 42:14which way am I going?
- 42:15So- Mm-hmm I appreciate everybody's comments, and Miriam, yours as well.
- 42:21Thank you.
- 42:21E- I think it was really powerful what you made that comment, only for me I'm doing this.
- 42:28that is really powerful to think in those moments when I'm doing something.
- 42:33Mm-hmm.
- 42:33am I doing it only for me, and why am I doing this?
- 42:38Yes.
- 42:38I think that is something...
- 42:40And Natalie, I want to say kudos to you.
- 42:43Great job that you're even in that place now, that you're even focusing like that.
- 42:49That's huge.
- 42:51And you really need to tell yourself, wow.
- 42:54s- to celebrate you.
- 42:55That's huge that you've come that far, that you're even starting to recognize that you're going from your, the animal soul to your godly soul.
- 43:04That's huge.
- 43:05Mm-hmm.
- 43:05So I celebrate you.
- 43:07I think that's beautiful.
- 43:09That's a real win for you.
- 43:10So that's absolutely beautiful.
- 43:13Excellent.
- 43:14Inca, I'm sorry that I leave you for the end, but you always are the first.
- 43:19So No, it's...
- 43:20I, I, I was very thrilled to, hear that you're going to discuss this today because I'm in constant conflict with my yetzer hara.
- 43:29I'm fully aware of it.
- 43:30And, in fact, I was going to go f- and speak with the rabbi because I don't know why I won't move away from certain things that my yetzer hara is causing me to do or not to do.
- 43:40And, I, it's a battle.
- 43:42It's a battle.
- 43:43I'm aware, and very often I just say,"Oh no, you're not winning this time.
- 43:47Get out of here." I'm conscious of my fight with the other side.
- 43:52Mm-hmm.
- 43:53Okay.
- 43:53The, this is our constant travel.
- 43:55Everyone is not- don't we have to be nice to that soul, though?
- 43:59We have to be- Don't we have to be nice- Yes, yes, yes to that soul and not get a, kinda like- Yes get away from me.
- 44:05Of course.
- 44:05I see you, I recognize you- Mm-hmm but I'm not gonna accept what you're asking me to do.
- 44:11Yes.
- 44:12I'm gonna go onto my holy soul, right?
- 44:16more so than to fight it.
- 44:18We're not trying to fight it.
- 44:19I'm in a, I'm a, I'm at this point in I'm really in a battle.
- 44:23It's a battle.
- 44:24it's, I've had it all my life, but- Yes, but, excuse me that I interrupt, Inka.
- 44:29And you are being dominated about that you are bad.
- 44:35This is not right, and also it's also a part of ego This is ego too Yeah, I, yes Okay Yeah.
- 44:44Oh, yeah, because it's a c- a, a certain part of me is making conscious decision about it.
- 44:47Yep.
- 44:47Okay, but, what Julie is saying is something very important.
- 44:51Yes.
- 44:51We don't, we, our confidence is very important.
- 44:57You, and when you feel like that, you have to accept, okay, I make a mistake.
- 45:03In fact- and I am human.
- 45:05Mm-hmm.
- 45:05But I have also in me the power to grow.
- 45:08To change.
- 45:09That's right.
- 45:10To change.
- 45:11That's right.
- 45:11And so how I do that, I connect with light.
- 45:14I connect with music.
- 45:16I connect with people around me that will elevate me.
- 45:21We don't want to be depressed.
- 45:23If you get like that, you depress yourself.
- 45:26This is not the point.
- 45:28No, no, I- The point is that- This is not Baruch Hashem, this is not depressing me, it's angering me.
- 45:32it's awakening me, because it's making me aware of, it's the opposite, actually okay.
- 45:38So if there is anything more to say.
- 45:40Yeah, Miriam?
- 45:41Miriam?
- 45:41Yes?
- 45:42it's Amy.
- 45:42Hi.
- 45:43Ah, me.
- 45:43Okay.
- 45:44I thought that you went away.
- 45:46No, I've been listening.
- 45:47I just, I just wanted to organiz- organize my thoughts here.
- 45:50Uh-huh.
- 45:50You mentioned that the, that we are to embrace our, purpose of being good in this world, and that we, humans are around to perfect the world, and that's the purpose of humans being in God's presence.
- 46:07How do you explain the purpose of evil people when perfecting the world is not on their agenda?
- 46:16Yes.
- 46:17Well, because that are the obstacles in our life or in the world in order that we can overcome So we need, is the same idea of a weight that a, a sport man needs to, it needs to do.
- 46:36When you do exercise and you have to wei- to use weight.
- 46:40The weight are heavy, but what is the function of those weight?
- 46:44To strengthen our muscle.
- 46:46The same idea, these negative people, this evil that exists in the world is made in order that we will overcome.
- 46:54The difficulties are a, a obstacle are that we will pass them.
- 46:59We will conquer everything that exists.
- 47:02That's why there, there is a still...
- 47:05All it is like the medicine.
- 47:07Some medicine are very bitter.
- 47:09So we need this bitterness.
- 47:11We need an injection, that the injection could be very painful sometimes.
- 47:16That we have to go through a surgery.
- 47:19So that, that are a situation, extreme situation in life that create a balance in the world, and the world has to overcome.
- 47:31The world today, for example, is a world where, I will say, is exactly the same world of the Mabul of Noah.
- 47:39Mm-hmm.
- 47:40Is the time of m- of the Mabul.
- 47:42Exactly it the same.
- 47:43Mm-hmm.
- 47:44Now there is so much controversy and so much things that there's an, doesn't have any sense.
- 47:51a, so much evil like the Iranian people that are at the power, and they are killing their own people is something difficult to understand.
- 48:02is beyond.
- 48:03But this is part of a conflict like what happened in the second world, in the Shoah.
- 48:10In the Shoah we suffer terribly and there is no explanation of this terribly suffering and the loss of so many, innocents that they die by the Nazis, millions of people that they die.
- 48:30The...
- 48:31But at the same times, we see that a light came out, and the light that came out is now the State of Israel.
- 48:43Mm-hmm.
- 48:44So I- So that, that is what I want to add here.
- 48:50And it's true what you say.
- 48:51I don't know if I am con- no convincing.
- 48:54It's not a question of convincing you.
- 48:56I think that you are completely right in thinking in this way.
- 49:00But the existence of the evil is important, too.
- 49:04Till the moment that we will wake up and the whole world is going to change, and this is the revelation of Moshiah- Mm-hmm in the final redemption.
- 49:18Okay?
- 49:18Thank you.
- 49:19Thank you.
- 49:20Okay.
- 49:20Thank you, Amy.
- 49:21Thank you for participating.
- 49:24Uh-huh.
- 49:24finally, I only want to, my co- my last conclusion and the essence of my class will be in the meditation.
- 49:34Let's say, for the source of life is with you.
- 49:38In your light do we see light.
- 49:41So when we are connected with Hashem, that is our life.
- 49:48And then we say that His light, when we are with His light, this light, we are part of this light.
- 49:57We are like one of the flames.
- 50:01One of the spark of this flame this is who we are.
- 50:06and that's why it says, ki imkha, with you, you are the source of life.
- 50:14Makor chayim.
- 50:16Beorecha.
- 50:17Orecha is or, is light.
- 50:19Nir- nira'or.
- 50:21Through your light, I will see your light.
- 50:25So that, that is this Psalm, and I would like to contemplate this idea and have a meditation in it.
- 50:35So I make a pause to relax.
- 50:42I close my eyes and I open my two palms on top of my knees And I breathe to receive all the energy, all the goodness of the message of King David to us And I expel anything that keep me tense, hold me inside.
- 51:15L- is confine me in a small place because I want to breathe, I want to expand.
- 51:24Expand like the horizon.
- 51:28I want to expand like the beauty of the ocean, the sea that we can see, th- that is expanding, and I am here, and I protect myself in a shield.
- 51:44And what is this shield?
- 51:46This shield of David means the shield of holiness that G- David HaMelech represent, and I am inside that, that magen, inside that shield, and I see myself in a wide column of light.
- 52:07This is who I am, who we are.
- 52:10We are only light, light confined in a body for a temporary time, but this is who we are.
- 52:20This light that we c- inside us make our eyes to shine, make us to listen, make us to express with loqu- loquacity, e- every feeling, every emotion that we keep in our hearts.
- 52:40And then this will, s- think about this idea, this concept, this, this sentence that HaShem is the source of my life, and in His life, in His light, I will see light.
- 53:01I will see my future, a future that will bring us to the final redemption.
- 53:09And we are together, and here we connect our hands and we are in a circle.
- 53:17It's the circle of life.
- 53:20It's the circle of existence that go around and around, and this light is circulating within us.
- 53:31Not above us, it's in us.
- 53:35And here comes the two wi- three witnesses, Malach Metatron, Malach Sandalphon, and Moshiach, that they are going to bring the final redemption, and we are connected because in our connection, in our love- within us, and also with everything that surrounds us, with our loved ones and our surroundings.
- 54:02That is what will bring peace, shalom, into the world.
- 54:08Thank you, Hashem.
- 54:09Thank you, all of you.
- 54:11Thank you for being here and share with me these precious treasures, the treasure of the Psalms of King David
