- 0:13Speaker 1: And we're back in La It's Lala.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Motherfucking can't yeh, motherfucking ran I mean, I can't believe Lalla.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Hold on first all e'scept the stage. We are back
- 0:27Speaker 2: in Los Angeles after five weeks on the road, So
- 0:32Speaker 2: I am beyond grateful to be here, even in a
- 0:36Speaker 2: COVID environment. It is nice to be home.
- 0:38Speaker 3: So even though we've been gone for over five weeks.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Actually we went from Puerto Rico to Marco Island, to
- 0:46Speaker 3: the Blue Ridge Mountains.
- 0:47Speaker 2: To North Carolina at my Sleepway camp. Well, I mean,
- 0:50Speaker 2: don't I mean give the details.
- 0:52Speaker 3: So Randall has this place that he's been going to
- 0:56Speaker 3: for a really long time. We went from like a
- 0:59Speaker 3: fifteen square foot home on the water in Marco Island, Florida.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Very bougie.
- 1:05Speaker 3: You just rowed so bougie, which I love it. But again,
- 1:09Speaker 3: like I'm from Utah, like I grew up camping. I
- 1:11Speaker 3: grew up in the woods, you know, but as I
- 1:14Speaker 3: got older, I got a little bougie. But anyway, Randall
- 1:19Speaker 3: his camp that he's been going to, when did you
- 1:22Speaker 3: start going?
- 1:23Speaker 2: I think I started around six or seven years old,
- 1:25Speaker 2: Camp Highlander and Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I
- 1:28Speaker 2: started as a camper, went on to a counselor. And
- 1:32Speaker 2: then the coolest part of it all is my kids
- 1:35Speaker 2: go there as well. So here's the cool thing. Lalla
- 1:39Speaker 2: has been there. You've been there many times to drop
- 1:41Speaker 2: off the girls when they go to Sleepway camp. And
- 1:43Speaker 2: because it's COVID, they had these they gave us an
- 1:47Speaker 2: opportunity to fly up in the last minute go to camp,
- 1:51Speaker 2: and we went and did.
- 1:53Speaker 1: They did it like a family type of camp for us.
- 1:55Speaker 2: For us, just like a like a small private thing,
- 1:59Speaker 2: which was the kindest thing. And so it is La, La, me,
- 2:03Speaker 2: your mother, Yeah, Lennon and Riley. Yes, we get up there.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Nobody knows what to expect because listen, it's not like
- 2:09Speaker 2: a regular like where they have these family camps. It's
- 2:12Speaker 2: like the Emmett camp. And so we go up there,
- 2:15Speaker 2: just us. We get up there and they have a
- 2:18Speaker 2: schedule for us. And I remember day one we had.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Just come, which Lord knows. I do not like a schedule.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Like when someone tells me the bell rings at eight
- 2:26Speaker 3: thirty for breakfast, I'm like, and you will be hearing
- 2:28Speaker 3: me scream, fuck you happen.
- 2:31Speaker 2: You didn't show up? Once till eleven.
- 2:33Speaker 1: So let's just call that right, Yeah, yeah, obviously.
- 2:36Speaker 2: But the cool thing is you and I, You and I,
- 2:40Speaker 2: out of all the activites obviously, Hey, let's let's rewind
- 2:44Speaker 2: for one second. The kids had the greatest experience a
- 2:46Speaker 2: time because they're not going to get a regular camp
- 2:48Speaker 2: this year, so they got a little five day mini camp.
- 2:51Speaker 2: But here's what's cool for us. We go there, we're
- 2:53Speaker 2: doing all the activities, We're watching the kids, they're living
- 2:56Speaker 2: their best life. Were with another couple and their son,
- 2:59Speaker 2: so that that was fun. You and I fell in
- 3:02Speaker 2: love with a new activity. So besides pickleball specialist, we
- 3:05Speaker 2: are now tell everybody.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Doom archers, we are shooting springing bow and arrows like gangsters.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Tell my score.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Randall's score was forty five. A perfect score is fifty.
- 3:21Speaker 2: That's five arrows, so was the inner circle in the
- 3:24Speaker 2: inner yellow. I got four yellows and one red. That
- 3:28Speaker 2: is I have the camp record down.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I'm gonna be honest me, just hitting the giant target
- 3:34Speaker 3: was a win for me. I was like, what, I
- 3:35Speaker 3: don't care what it hits, as long as it hits
- 3:38Speaker 3: the circle.
- 3:40Speaker 2: You know, tell everybody what I was doing last night
- 3:42Speaker 2: on the internet.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Okay, Randall goes through these obsessions.
- 3:46Speaker 3: He was googling like youtubing archery videos of like these professionals.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I'm going to my first competition.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I cannot It's really Here's the thing.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Randall's good at really weird shit, like the man can't
- 4:01Speaker 3: play football or basketball to save his life.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I don't even know the rules.
- 4:05Speaker 3: But like the hardest things to do, he's great at.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Could you give some examples.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Archery is an example, ping pong ping pong. All these
- 4:16Speaker 1: like weird water skiing.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Water skiing, like things that are actually really difficult you're
- 4:21Speaker 3: super athletic with.
- 4:22Speaker 2: But here's the crazy thing. I was always pick last
- 4:26Speaker 2: on every team as a child, so therefore my athletic
- 4:29Speaker 2: ability was limited. But as I got older, I have
- 4:32Speaker 2: come into my own and I love one.
- 4:34Speaker 3: However, when Randall, when I saw Randall like Cam Highlander,
- 4:40Speaker 3: his inner.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Geek was on full display.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Well, let me tell you. So they had a schedule
- 4:49Speaker 2: for us from eight in the morning to five in
- 4:50Speaker 2: the afternoon. Right, Lala participated every day from about twelve
- 4:55Speaker 2: thirty lunchtime to about three thirty, so she was there
- 4:58Speaker 2: at select activities. Although I didn't think I would make
- 5:02Speaker 2: it eight hours day. I thought, oh, you know what,
- 5:03Speaker 2: I'll be there like two three hours. I was there
- 5:05Speaker 2: every morning, eight to five o'clock every day, and.
- 5:10Speaker 1: We let your camper flag fly.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Baby.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I was like this grown ass man is like up
- 5:16Speaker 3: and at him, ready to do whatever activity at eight
- 5:20Speaker 3: in the morning.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Can I tell you what it was like. It was
- 5:22Speaker 2: like being a counselor again. I literally woke the kids
- 5:25Speaker 2: up and I had this my friends and I love them,
- 5:29Speaker 2: and I won't mention their names, but they were like
- 5:31Speaker 2: having their best life couple vacation. Why I was taking
- 5:34Speaker 2: their child. So I had our kids and then I
- 5:38Speaker 2: had their twelve year old boy. So I had these
- 5:40Speaker 2: three kids and I was like the counselor. I was like, up,
- 5:42Speaker 2: let's go eight thirty breakfast.
- 5:45Speaker 1: You're hurting my ears before and then I was.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Like ten o'clock archery, eleven o'clock riflery, one o'clock lake,
- 5:51Speaker 2: two o'clock blob. Followed by.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Telling me like low back in the day, like I
- 5:59Speaker 3: was like the fan favorite of counselors.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I had like.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Sixteen a waiting list of sixteen. I was like, oh
- 6:03Speaker 3: my gosh, you're such a nerd.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but I was. I was a phenomenal counselor. There's
- 6:08Speaker 2: a waiting list.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Be honest, be honest, Rand, what you were like? Dorky?
- 6:14Speaker 2: Right? I take offense to that.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Really, I think I don't take when people you have.
- 6:20Speaker 2: An artistic kid, I think area.
- 6:23Speaker 1: That's what I like to say, too. We were nerds.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Know what that means? I loved my life.
- 6:28Speaker 1: It means you stayed at camp until you were eighteen
- 6:31Speaker 1: twenty two.
- 6:32Speaker 2: That is sad. No, See, I take offense to this.
- 6:36Speaker 2: I loved being a counselor, and I loved working at
- 6:39Speaker 2: Camp all the way through college. I really loved being
- 6:44Speaker 2: part of the experience Camp Highlander for me. By the way,
- 6:47Speaker 2: any of you who have children that are listening to this,
- 6:50Speaker 2: please look into Camp Highlander. It is the greatest, most
- 6:54Speaker 2: magical placed.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Yeah that's a nice little plug for Camp Highlander.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Dude, Well, you love it too, so don't bull. She'd
- 7:00Speaker 2: been wearing the sweatshirt for three days. Not right now,
- 7:03Speaker 2: but you have been that's true. Okay, we're gonna move
- 7:06Speaker 2: off Camp Higland. But what I do want to say is, yes,
- 7:08Speaker 2: I was very Camp was a big pran in life.
- 7:10Speaker 2: And I'm gonna tell you one serious thing and I'm
- 7:12Speaker 2: gonna let it go. The reason camp was part of
- 7:14Speaker 2: my life is yesterday you watched me climb that rock wall,
- 7:16Speaker 2: which is like big. It was like three stories right right.
- 7:20Speaker 2: The reason I have the confidence at forty nine years
- 7:22Speaker 2: old to climb up that wall like Spider Man this.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Way, you were really fast. He was fast.
- 7:28Speaker 2: And the reason is is that when I was a
- 7:29Speaker 2: kid and I was petrified of rock climbing, big faces
- 7:33Speaker 2: that like looking less, that were tough faces, like five
- 7:36Speaker 2: to eight difficulties. So they encouraged me and I whitewater
- 7:40Speaker 2: collect all these things I never would have done growing
- 7:41Speaker 2: up in Miami. I got to do a camp. So
- 7:43Speaker 2: I'm very very proud of my camp heritage. Maybe I
- 7:47Speaker 2: geek a little bit to the left or right, but
- 7:49Speaker 2: here's a thing I am very proud. And anybody that
- 7:53Speaker 2: has a child, please send your kid to Sleepway Camp.
- 7:57Speaker 2: It is epic. Okay, moving on from that, I want
- 8:00Speaker 2: to talk about something that I have not gotten to
- 8:02Speaker 2: talk about in a long time.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Okay, what is it?
- 8:06Speaker 2: Our guest today has a common love with me, and
- 8:09Speaker 2: it's not Vander pump Rooles because yes, he is a
- 8:11Speaker 2: star of vander Pump roles. Yeah, but he and I
- 8:15Speaker 2: share the same love of poker. So we are going
- 8:18Speaker 2: to have a poker party on this episode. Oh my god,
- 8:21Speaker 2: Tom Schwartz is our guest today. So Tom Schwartz poker party.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Super excited about Tom Schwartz.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Oh wait, not excited about the poker party.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I just don't care about it.
- 8:35Speaker 2: You know, what I'm excited about for you is that
- 8:37Speaker 2: you really haven't had a vander Pump like discussion of
- 8:41Speaker 2: any sort, I know, in a few months, and you
- 8:43Speaker 2: guys are.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Not shooting me out. I'm like, here's the thing. I
- 8:49Speaker 1: get it.
- 8:49Speaker 3: We're in like this state of you know, the unknown,
- 8:54Speaker 3: and there's a lot of people who are not doing
- 8:56Speaker 3: what they would normally be doing. But I mean I
- 8:59Speaker 3: would be filming the show right now with all my
- 9:02Speaker 3: best friends, and now it's just like we're dinking around,
- 9:08Speaker 3: twisting our thumbs, being.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Like I wonder what we're gonna be doing today.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Where normally it's like we have a schedule, Yo, you
- 9:14Speaker 3: got to call time at this time, and you're gonna
- 9:17Speaker 3: be going to Katie and Schwartzy's house right Well, the
- 9:20Speaker 3: other thing is to talk about last night and you're like,
- 9:22Speaker 3: oh my god, this is so fun.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Well, and the other thing is is that all production
- 9:27Speaker 2: has halted and now it's just starting to ramp back up.
- 9:30Speaker 2: So I mean, assuming you know, you guys obviously gonna
- 9:32Speaker 2: go back, it's just when. And I think it's weird
- 9:34Speaker 2: for you guys because every summer for the last eight
- 9:36Speaker 2: years you have shot at this time. So I'm excited
- 9:40Speaker 2: for you.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And you would almost be done.
- 9:42Speaker 2: I'm excited for you and Tom to connect all things
- 9:46Speaker 2: vander Popter.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Here's the thing, though, whenever I'm at Katie's house, we
- 9:50Speaker 3: have to be like Tom, if you're not gonna talk
- 9:52Speaker 3: good shit, like, disengage. I don't want to hear your
- 9:55Speaker 3: like PC shit. You know, like you being Switzerland ain't
- 10:01Speaker 3: that fun in my gossip session.
- 10:03Speaker 2: So how hold on a second? I mean, are you
- 10:06Speaker 2: already lighting the shit up? I mean, hold on, did
- 10:09Speaker 2: you just say he's two PC for you?
- 10:12Speaker 3: He's too Switzerland. It's like if I want to talk
- 10:14Speaker 3: shit about the season, but.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Maybe he's that guy Lalami, he is that guy, So
- 10:19Speaker 2: what do you want to do? D No?
- 10:22Speaker 3: But you're like you guys, get gussp about vander Pump's like,
- 10:24Speaker 3: he's the worst gossiper ever.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Oh, I think he's good. I'm gonna I'm gonna ask him.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, do you have anything that you know
- 10:31Speaker 2: about it?
- 10:31Speaker 1: You could pull it out of him. But Rand, you're
- 10:33Speaker 1: a good gossiper.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Like when I want to go just steamroll over everybody
- 10:37Speaker 3: behind their backs in.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Bed, you go there with me.
- 10:41Speaker 2: That's not true.
- 10:42Speaker 1: You're such a fucking liar. This podcast is about truth, Okay.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I do like listening to the bullshit that you got.
- 10:51Speaker 3: You also like partaking, Okay, sometimes you and I troll
- 10:54Speaker 3: the Graham and talk shit on everybody. It's our favorite
- 10:56Speaker 3: thing to do.
- 10:57Speaker 2: This is this is not true. I'm a forty nine
- 11:00Speaker 2: your old man.
- 11:01Speaker 1: You're a shit talker, Okay, somewhat.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I want to tell you one other thing about my
- 11:06Speaker 2: other obsession.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Okay, what is it?
- 11:08Speaker 4: So?
- 11:08Speaker 2: You know how we ski it every day? Water skin.
- 11:11Speaker 2: You know I love water skiin I always have since
- 11:13Speaker 2: you met me. Yeah, So I got really obsessed again
- 11:17Speaker 2: with skiing, and I you know, I've lost a little
- 11:19Speaker 2: bit of weight and I'm still working on that. So
- 11:22Speaker 2: I reached out to one of the top water skiers
- 11:24Speaker 2: in the world. Couldn't help myself.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I can't.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I'm going to Florida, I think in like two or
- 11:29Speaker 2: three weeks for a full week water ski camp. Yeah,
- 11:33Speaker 2: I love it. You're coming.
- 11:35Speaker 1: It sounds like a nice little vacation for myself.
- 11:38Speaker 2: The hell.
- 11:40Speaker 4: So.
- 11:40Speaker 1: But it no mess, that's a vacation.
- 11:43Speaker 2: But I'll be on the water every day, just shreddy.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Can I tell you this is how Randall works. He
- 11:48Speaker 1: becomes obsessed with pickleball.
- 11:49Speaker 3: And he's like, the most pickaball player in the world
- 11:51Speaker 3: is coming to the house on Monday lot and I'm like, okay, right,
- 11:54Speaker 3: and then it's like, by the way, I'm into archery,
- 11:57Speaker 3: the best archerist or whatever you call God, bless you,
- 12:01Speaker 3: thank you, is coming to the house on the law,
- 12:03Speaker 3: Like I just have a house full of the best
- 12:06Speaker 3: at the most random ship in the world, bless you,
- 12:11Speaker 3: I agree, like Lebron James or some ship like I
- 12:14Speaker 3: don't Sam Brady, like that would.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Be I don't know how to play football or basketball.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Becoming the best person in the world at a sport
- 12:21Speaker 3: that a lot of people give a shit about.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I give a shit about pickleball at a high level.
- 12:25Speaker 2: But I want to tell you something.
- 12:26Speaker 1: It's such a dork.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I want to tell you something. First of all, I
- 12:31Speaker 2: love pickleball and that will always be kind of at
- 12:33Speaker 2: the forefront. But water skiing's pretty close behind right now.
- 12:37Speaker 2: So and archery. I ordered all the ship last night,
- 12:40Speaker 2: so they'll be at the in our backyard. Yeah, we're
- 12:42Speaker 2: gonna shoot arrows in the backyard.
- 12:43Speaker 1: It's so badass, it's so fun.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Just in case, like the world gets a little more apocalyptic,
- 12:49Speaker 3: we're gonna have to be out in these streets fucking
- 12:52Speaker 3: killing our own food and shit.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Okay, now you're taking it to another one.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I don't know. We should prepare. We got fucking tea
- 12:59Speaker 1: time over here in the room, Randall's triathlon best friend
- 13:02Speaker 1: ever looking like he's in the apocalypse right now.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I just want to tell you that Tyler is in
- 13:08Speaker 2: character because he has a role in this next movie
- 13:10Speaker 2: that I'm doing, and he's been waiting four months because
- 13:14Speaker 2: we've been in COVID.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Wait which movie is it?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Midnight in the Switchcress, he's playing the role of the
- 13:20Speaker 2: truck stop guy, so he's grown the beer and he's
- 13:22Speaker 2: it's gangster.
- 13:23Speaker 4: It is. I love it.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Tea time.
- 13:24Speaker 2: We're happy to have Tyler, but the triathling triathlate thing
- 13:28Speaker 2: that that ended about two years.
- 13:30Speaker 1: No, but that's how you met him and then he
- 13:32Speaker 1: became your best friend ever.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Correct?
- 13:34Speaker 1: Correct?
- 13:34Speaker 2: Okay, so we are now going to go to break. Okay,
- 13:38Speaker 2: take a little time out, get back into the vander
- 13:40Speaker 2: Pump Schwartz because you know what, I'm not as good
- 13:43Speaker 2: in the vander Pump gossip world as you are, and
- 13:47Speaker 2: I think your fans are excited to have a little
- 13:49Speaker 2: vander Pump refresher this episode.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yes, I agree, So we'll be right back with shit talking.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Or right back.
- 14:04Speaker 3: We are back with the vander Pump's puppy dog, Tom Shorts.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Oh my god. Yeah, that's how you introduce Tom fucking Schwartz.
- 14:14Speaker 1: This is how I think of you, Tom Schwartz.
- 14:16Speaker 3: You're a puppy and when you bite it hurts, but
- 14:19Speaker 3: you're too damn cute.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Stay mad at Oh.
- 14:23Speaker 2: My god, Tom. First of all, I told her that
- 14:28Speaker 2: this podcast is going to be the Schwartz fan er
- 14:30Speaker 2: Pump slash party poker podcast, because how bad are we
- 14:36Speaker 2: fucking missing live poker?
- 14:38Speaker 4: I'm josen for it. First of all, First of all,
- 14:41Speaker 4: it's just great to hear your voices.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Can I say that, Oh my god, Oh my god,
- 14:45Speaker 2: you're right, Lala, he is Switzerland.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Oh I missed your face as it's great to hear
- 14:51Speaker 4: your voices. Yes, I'm Jonsen for poker. Although I did
- 14:55Speaker 4: have I'm not going to boil your listeners with my
- 14:57Speaker 4: little poker fairy tale. But I did finally get to
- 15:00Speaker 4: take a stab at the World Series of Poker.
- 15:02Speaker 2: And online, the online series, the online version.
- 15:05Speaker 4: I wouldn't stay with my mother in law Terry. Shout
- 15:07Speaker 4: out to Terry, I love you. They wouldn't let me
- 15:10Speaker 4: stand the strip because of Rona and they're the bosses.
- 15:15Speaker 4: So I went and stayed with her and I final
- 15:17Speaker 4: tabled my first event for a nice little score.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Which is, by the way, which I want to explain
- 15:22Speaker 2: to people about player. First of all, you know final table,
- 15:26Speaker 2: I won a few events and all that, and it's amazing.
- 15:29Speaker 2: And to play online, Tom, which you don't play. You
- 15:34Speaker 2: know that much. You love poker, but you don't play
- 15:36Speaker 2: it as much as.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Like's not degenerate like you Randall correct, Yes.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Very while always there, always there in my corner. Thanks
- 15:44Speaker 2: back to you, Tom. Uh No, what I want to
- 15:46Speaker 2: say is it is very hard to play online because
- 15:48Speaker 2: you don't see the people you're playing with, and you're
- 15:50Speaker 2: playing against like the best players in the world, especially
- 15:53Speaker 2: in the WSLP. And the fact that you final table
- 15:56Speaker 2: Tom and almost want a bracelet online. You mad respect, Matt.
- 16:02Speaker 5: I appreciate, I appreciate love It was a fairy tale
- 16:04Speaker 5: because right before I started the event, I did a
- 16:07Speaker 5: little post and I referenced a famous quote by Norman
- 16:10Speaker 5: Chad who commentates on the World Series a Poker on
- 16:13Speaker 5: ESPN and I'm Dury money Maker's historic run.
- 16:16Speaker 4: He says something along the lines of this is beyond
- 16:19Speaker 4: fairy tale. It's inconceivable. And you know, cut to thirteen
- 16:23Speaker 4: hours later and he was commentating on the final table
- 16:25Speaker 4: I was playing it, so it was that's unbelieva full circle.
- 16:29Speaker 2: How fun is it, Tom, when you get to that moment?
- 16:31Speaker 2: I mean, I just for people that don't know or
- 16:34Speaker 2: have an experience that when you get to that moment,
- 16:36Speaker 2: tell people it's just the adrenaline, the it's just another thing.
- 16:41Speaker 4: I've never jumped out of a plane, but I don't
- 16:43Speaker 4: think it could even come close to comparing to what
- 16:46Speaker 4: it feels like to make it to a final table.
- 16:48Speaker 1: That's a bold statement.
- 16:50Speaker 2: It feels like that.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Wow, it feels it's exhilarating, and you experience every emotion.
- 16:55Speaker 4: You don't show every emotion, but you experience it every
- 16:57Speaker 4: emotion on the spectrum throughout a tournament. And now there's
- 17:00Speaker 4: a lot of heartbreak, a lot of highs, a lot
- 17:02Speaker 4: of lows, and it's very dramatic because it's been ecomatic.
- 17:05Speaker 2: It is it is?
- 17:06Speaker 1: Is it more dramatic than an episode of vander Pump Rules.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I want I want to give you a
- 17:12Speaker 4: hug right now. I'll give you a verbal hug because
- 17:14Speaker 4: like this is this it's been like clockwork for the
- 17:17Speaker 4: past eight years for us. This has been such a
- 17:19Speaker 4: big part of my life. And we're not filming right now.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Everything's halted, and I just I'm a little I'm a
- 17:24Speaker 4: little lost. I'm okay, okay.
- 17:27Speaker 3: We were just talking about that shortsy how it's like
- 17:29Speaker 3: we would be completing, almost completing another season. Like what
- 17:34Speaker 3: are you doing with yourself right now? Because, like you said,
- 17:38Speaker 3: it's been like clockwork that we've filmed the show.
- 17:40Speaker 4: You said it, I mean, yeah, what maybe twenty percent
- 17:44Speaker 4: for eight years that's twenty percent of my life. Everything
- 17:48Speaker 4: I you know, do revolves around that show.
- 17:51Speaker 2: And I just.
- 17:53Speaker 4: I'm flailing a little bit, but for the most part,
- 17:56Speaker 4: I'm okay, I.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Gotta, I gotta, i gotta tell you something. Lawa just
- 17:59Speaker 2: said that, I know you mentioned it, but she just
- 18:02Speaker 2: said she's like, every year we're sitting at this time filming,
- 18:05Speaker 2: it must be weird, Tom, because even for me, somebody
- 18:08Speaker 2: for twenty years who's making, you know, consistently made movies,
- 18:13Speaker 2: it's even a struggle for us to get a film
- 18:15Speaker 2: up and running, so I know, even for television and
- 18:18Speaker 2: our other TV shows. So it's got to be really
- 18:21Speaker 2: odd for you to, you know, be waiting for a
- 18:25Speaker 2: safe time for your show to go back. So I
- 18:28Speaker 2: do feel for you.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Actually that's a question.
- 18:32Speaker 3: But you're you're on the side of like you're a
- 18:35Speaker 3: part of the show, but you're also a restaurant owner
- 18:38Speaker 3: and our show is based on a restaurant, Like do
- 18:41Speaker 3: you have any inside scoop on like what the restaurant
- 18:45Speaker 3: industry is going to look like when we.
- 18:48Speaker 4: May go back. I mean this, I mean, I'm sure,
- 18:50Speaker 4: as you guys have read in the headlines and something,
- 18:53Speaker 4: it's been devastating to the industry as a whole. I mean,
- 18:57Speaker 4: I've read multiple figures of like thirty to forty even
- 19:01Speaker 4: fifty percent of the restaurants, you know, not coming back.
- 19:05Speaker 4: I mean, we're looking at like a two hundred and
- 19:07Speaker 4: forty billion dollar loss by the end of the year
- 19:09Speaker 4: in the industry. And I mean it's tough that the
- 19:12Speaker 4: restrictions are. They're dizzying, you know, they're ever evolving, and
- 19:16Speaker 4: it's like, we do as much as we want to open,
- 19:18Speaker 4: it's like putting your employees at at risk. A lot
- 19:21Speaker 4: of employees don't feel comfortable coming back to work right now.
- 19:23Speaker 4: And even if they do, are they going to make
- 19:25Speaker 4: any money and we're going to be able to turn
- 19:26Speaker 4: a profit. It's just it's it's a tough, tough business.
- 19:31Speaker 4: You know, outside of a worldwide pandemic, it's a tough
- 19:34Speaker 4: business with like thin margins. You know, you throw a
- 19:37Speaker 4: pandemic in the mix, and I just, yeah, you know.
- 19:41Speaker 2: It's brutal, I feel for you to do because the
- 19:42Speaker 2: restaurant the right you know, all industries have been affected,
- 19:46Speaker 2: you know, across the ward. But but but but the
- 19:49Speaker 2: restaurant business, bar business and nightclub business I mean have been,
- 19:54Speaker 2: you know, devastated, but.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I know I know that you and in Sandoval have
- 19:59Speaker 3: taken to one of the apps to raise money for
- 20:03Speaker 3: your employees.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Are you still doing that or.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Like, well, we hit our goal of fifty k.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Thanks always, it's amazing, that's amazing.
- 20:12Speaker 4: It felt really special. And we have about fifty eight
- 20:15Speaker 4: employees and we just split it evenly between everybody, and
- 20:18Speaker 4: it felt really good to give back in some small way.
- 20:21Speaker 4: But because we love I love our crew, I love
- 20:24Speaker 4: our staff. It's like family. It's an extended family, just
- 20:28Speaker 4: like you guys are. And yeah, yeah, it was nice
- 20:31Speaker 4: to give back a little bit. But I stay in
- 20:34Speaker 4: touch with a lot of them. Everybody's hanging in there,
- 20:36Speaker 4: doing their thing and staying positive. I'm very optimistic about
- 20:41Speaker 4: the rebound, although I've been doing everything I can to support,
- 20:44Speaker 4: like local restaurants in the Valley West Hollywood and Katie
- 20:47Speaker 4: went to the front yard. I don't know if you
- 20:49Speaker 4: guys have been there. It's in Studio City the other day.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been with Katie.
- 20:52Speaker 2: What is it?
- 20:53Speaker 1: It's super good.
- 20:54Speaker 2: It's super good.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just it's just so as I was walking
- 20:58Speaker 4: in it, it's just also just kind of surreal. So
- 21:00Speaker 4: I've been going on now. They're opening up some patios,
- 21:02Speaker 4: they're adapting and putting picnic tables outside and whatnot. But
- 21:05Speaker 4: it's like you walk in and it's kind of cyberpunk.
- 21:09Speaker 4: You know, you get your wrist scand your temperature checked.
- 21:12Speaker 4: They got the dual layer masks on everything. But afink
- 21:15Speaker 4: you sit down, it's pretty cool. It feels pretty normal.
- 21:18Speaker 2: I gotta tell you. You know, we've been we were
- 21:20Speaker 2: in Florida, we were in Puerto Rico, and we were
- 21:23Speaker 2: in North Carolina, and it's kind of becoming for me
- 21:26Speaker 2: at least Tom, And I don't know for you, but
- 21:28Speaker 2: for me, it's becoming kind of the normal. You walk
- 21:30Speaker 2: in with your mask, you get your tumblester taken, but
- 21:32Speaker 2: once you sit down at the table, you know you're
- 21:35Speaker 2: with your people, your friends, your family, and the experience
- 21:39Speaker 2: of dining is the same. I mean, you know, I
- 21:42Speaker 2: think once you get through the initial walking in, once
- 21:46Speaker 2: you get to your table, it does kind of feel
- 21:49Speaker 2: pretty normal, at least because I've been doing it for
- 21:52Speaker 2: four months now.
- 21:53Speaker 3: You know, Tom, have you discussed maybe opening up like
- 21:58Speaker 3: a party of Tom the patio or even just like
- 22:02Speaker 3: pick up or Delawry.
- 22:04Speaker 2: They should open up outside.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I mean, at least has that been discussed for Tom Tom.
- 22:09Speaker 4: We've brushed on it. I'm gonna have a good chat
- 22:11Speaker 4: with Ken next week and see where we stand because
- 22:15Speaker 4: we do have the retractable roof in the I know, yeah, no,
- 22:19Speaker 4: it's just yeah, there's just I mean, I don't know.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna give it. I want to give a
- 22:23Speaker 2: shout out to list fannerprop who you know as a
- 22:25Speaker 2: friend and I love and Ken. I am going to
- 22:28Speaker 2: campaign right here on this podcast that they need to
- 22:31Speaker 2: open the patio and open the back retractable roof and
- 22:34Speaker 2: let the main part of the bar be the walkthrough
- 22:37Speaker 2: right to get to those areas or or enter from
- 22:40Speaker 2: the back. Because I love the fried chicken sandwiches at
- 22:45Speaker 2: Tom Tom restaurant.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Okay, my god, it's like we.
- 22:51Speaker 2: All know, I love chicken sandwiches.
- 22:53Speaker 4: Yeah right, I miss I'm missconnecting with people though, like
- 22:58Speaker 4: I'm in there, I'm a you guys know them big time,
- 23:02Speaker 4: big time. What does the future of hugging look like?
- 23:05Speaker 4: It's over.
- 23:07Speaker 2: It's over till the vaccine, Till we have a vaccine.
- 23:10Speaker 2: And I am optimistic and really rooting on our medical
- 23:14Speaker 2: technology that we have today. I know we're in the
- 23:16Speaker 2: third stage of the trials for a lot of them,
- 23:19Speaker 2: and I am so optimistic and hopeful like everybody that,
- 23:24Speaker 2: please God, let us find this vaccine so that the
- 23:29Speaker 2: world can come back and function and flourish, and and so.
- 23:34Speaker 1: That Tom Tom can open and we can get well.
- 23:37Speaker 2: That's part of it. That's part of it, for sure. Yeah, No, honestly,
- 23:42Speaker 2: I mean, I just I'm watching so much devastation financially
- 23:45Speaker 2: in the world and people losing their lives, and the
- 23:48Speaker 2: sooner we get this vaccine, hopefully, the sooner everybody can
- 23:51Speaker 2: be safe and move forward.
- 23:52Speaker 3: But I have to ask, what are what are you
- 23:53Speaker 3: and Katie doing quarantine besides bunk peeps all day?
- 23:57Speaker 2: Oh my god? I mean, why don't we have to go?
- 24:00Speaker 2: Why does it always have to be a bumped peepee?
- 24:03Speaker 2: It's one peep there's only one peepy when you're bumping.
- 24:06Speaker 1: So there's two peepees girl. Oh all right, So tell
- 24:10Speaker 1: me tell me what y'all do.
- 24:12Speaker 4: I'm glad you asked, because I gotta say, maybe it
- 24:15Speaker 4: hasn't been romantic in a traditional sense, but I think
- 24:18Speaker 4: We've been flourishing sexually and in terms of just.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Being happy together.
- 24:23Speaker 4: I've definitely experienced some severe bouts of cabin fever, Like
- 24:27Speaker 4: I have wander lust. Katie's Katie's more comfortable staying home.
- 24:31Speaker 4: You know, she wants to be out too. But I
- 24:33Speaker 4: think I just I have severe intense bouts of wanderlust, right,
- 24:38Speaker 4: I just like I feel like I have to get
- 24:39Speaker 4: out or I'm gonna snap again. I have I have
- 24:42Speaker 4: like very little to complain about. This is coming from
- 24:44Speaker 4: a place of privilege, but like I'm starting to lose
- 24:47Speaker 4: it here and there. I have these little, these little
- 24:49Speaker 4: episodes where like I just am like if I don't
- 24:52Speaker 4: leave and see, like we got away once we went
- 24:55Speaker 4: to Utah and we took a road trip. You guys,
- 24:57Speaker 4: that was so fabulous, just like fresh water, streams, waterfalls,
- 25:02Speaker 4: getting to connect with I miss my family. I'm getting
- 25:05Speaker 4: I'm getting all excited about it.
- 25:07Speaker 3: That's what it is is that you you think about
- 25:10Speaker 3: like all of the little things that you know, like
- 25:14Speaker 3: we took Oh, I'm just gonna walk into a restaurant
- 25:16Speaker 3: or I'm gonna hop on a plane to go see
- 25:18Speaker 3: my mom and dad. It's like all these tiny things
- 25:21Speaker 3: where you're like, what the fuck. I totally just thought
- 25:24Speaker 3: that was normal life.
- 25:25Speaker 1: That was a privilege. That was a privilege by the.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Way it was normal, by the way it was normal
- 25:29Speaker 2: for all of us, And it was a privilege that
- 25:32Speaker 2: we kind of, I think, just took for granted. Now
- 25:34Speaker 2: it's been taken from us, and now we have to
- 25:37Speaker 2: We are all wanting this so bad that I think
- 25:41Speaker 2: when we get it back, we're never gonna take it
- 25:44Speaker 2: for granted.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Never ever, yeah, ever.
- 25:47Speaker 3: But I love to hear that you and Katie are
- 25:49Speaker 3: like because here's the thing, Like, you don't have to
- 25:51Speaker 3: be bumping peepees to like have romantic time during quarantine.
- 25:55Speaker 3: You know, sometimes Randall and I will just hold hands
- 25:57Speaker 3: in bed and watch Ozark, and it's like the sweetest
- 26:00Speaker 3: thing ever.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Yeah, very sweet.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I don't know you wait, what'd you say?
- 26:05Speaker 4: Such a great show. But I haven't felt particular sexy
- 26:09Speaker 4: during this time. I'll say that pandemics are not sexy.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Well yeah, duh.
- 26:13Speaker 3: We're all like rolling right now, and I'm totally okay
- 26:16Speaker 3: with it. Schwortzy, We're going to take a quick break,
- 26:20Speaker 3: real quick. Let us let me take us into a
- 26:21Speaker 3: break and then hold whatever thought you had perfect.
- 26:23Speaker 2: We'll be right back with Tom Schwartz.
- 26:32Speaker 1: We're back with motherfucking Tom Schwartz.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Tom, say it loud, and we're back at town. Tom.
- 26:41Speaker 2: So I'm going to make sure I come see you
- 26:43Speaker 2: and hang out because I miss you, buddy.
- 26:45Speaker 3: You're allowed to hang out with Tom schwartzh I got permission.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:49Speaker 4: I've been living vicariously through you a little bit. I
- 26:50Speaker 4: saw you at the camp I'm in North Carolina you
- 26:53Speaker 4: went to when you were growing up as a kid,
- 26:55Speaker 4: and I was so jealous. I wasn't there with you.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Oh my god. I I really hope that when the
- 26:59Speaker 2: show comes back, we can all go out there. It'll
- 27:01Speaker 2: be so fun.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Randall wanted because we were just assuming that we would
- 27:05Speaker 3: go back this year Schwartzy, and he was like, well
- 27:09Speaker 3: for our group, for you guys, group trip, I should
- 27:13Speaker 3: send you guys to my camp because you can social distance.
- 27:16Speaker 2: It would have been bad at by the way, we
- 27:18Speaker 2: could still do it when the show comes back.
- 27:20Speaker 3: If you had to exile one new cast member to
- 27:23Speaker 3: never return on vander Bump Rules again, who would it be, Schwartze.
- 27:27Speaker 2: You know, I can never answer.
- 27:30Speaker 3: I told you, I literally said before I came on,
- 27:33Speaker 3: I said, Schwartzy, don't talk shit with us.
- 27:36Speaker 2: I have a question for Schwartz.
- 27:37Speaker 4: Okay, let me marinate on that.
- 27:40Speaker 2: We'll get you in like eight episodes from now. You
- 27:42Speaker 2: can come back here, right. I have a question for Schwartz.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I don't know if i'll answer yes, but we have
- 27:46Speaker 2: a question. So I know that you know some of
- 27:51Speaker 2: the cast members will not be returning, and and you
- 27:54Speaker 2: know for a variety of reasons. What is your take?
- 27:59Speaker 2: You know, how does that make you feel? And I'm
- 28:00Speaker 2: not asking for any gossip or dirt. I'm just saying, like,
- 28:04Speaker 2: how how do you feel just about losing family members?
- 28:08Speaker 2: You know, because you've been with the show since for
- 28:10Speaker 2: eight years, you know, whereas Lala you've been in the
- 28:13Speaker 2: show five right, yeah, so you even have eight years
- 28:17Speaker 2: on you from the beginning, So how does that make
- 28:20Speaker 2: you feel?
- 28:21Speaker 4: Honestly, I don't think i've processed it.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Oh my god, Shorty, that's exactly what I said.
- 28:27Speaker 4: It.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it is what I said.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Okay, keep going, Shorty, No, No.
- 28:32Speaker 4: I hope it doesn't seem like a cop out, but
- 28:34Speaker 4: I just honestly haven't processed it. Maybe I'm running from
- 28:37Speaker 4: it a little bit, or I'm in denial that it
- 28:39Speaker 4: ever happened, But I don't know what the future. I'm
- 28:41Speaker 4: optimistic about the future of vander Pulboles. I feel like
- 28:44Speaker 4: the show still has legs. I still like it has
- 28:46Speaker 4: so much life to give. But yeah, it's it's it's
- 28:49Speaker 4: never going to be the same, that's for sure.
- 28:52Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, I mean, I mean, eight years is
- 28:55Speaker 2: a long time to be with people, and you've been
- 28:58Speaker 2: with them, so I was just curious. You know, you're thoughts,
- 29:00Speaker 2: so I think, yeah, I think that's a fair answer.
- 29:02Speaker 2: You know that you just yeah, processed again or or totally.
- 29:07Speaker 4: I love my friends and I support them, and uh yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 4: it's it's it's been rough, but we'll be okay, we'll
- 29:14Speaker 4: get through it. Everybody will be okay. Of course, can
- 29:18Speaker 4: I pivot even though this is your podcast? Can I
- 29:19Speaker 4: pivot and.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Switching gears?
- 29:25Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 29:26Speaker 2: I pivot all the time. Okay, we're pivoting, pivot toot.
- 29:30Speaker 4: I love pivoting. I wanted to ask you guys, well, Randall,
- 29:33Speaker 4: I know you had to hold production again, I think
- 29:35Speaker 4: you did, but I just wanted to get any an
- 29:37Speaker 4: update on Midnight in the switch Grass because I'm so
- 29:39Speaker 4: excited about it. I had the great pleasure of seeing
- 29:42Speaker 4: a few behind the scenes clips, and I gotta say
- 29:45Speaker 4: it looks so good, Megan and and in Machine Gun,
- 29:48Speaker 4: Telly chemistry is insane, popping off that screen like stoke
- 29:53Speaker 4: for you in your directorial debut.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Well, buddy, it has been.
- 29:55Speaker 4: It is.
- 29:56Speaker 2: First of all, it's been. Directing has been, you know,
- 29:59Speaker 2: obviously the biggest high of my life. But at the
- 30:01Speaker 2: same time, it has been the biggest challenge of my career,
- 30:05Speaker 2: having started a movie pre COVID being shut down and
- 30:09Speaker 2: then coming back and still not being able to finish completely.
- 30:13Speaker 2: So we're actually going to finish the balance of the
- 30:17Speaker 2: movie now in California, so very very close to home,
- 30:22Speaker 2: just because the testing and all that is more readily available,
- 30:29Speaker 2: so not to go into a whole bunch of things.
- 30:31Speaker 2: So I am very, very excited. We're going to finish
- 30:33Speaker 2: at the end of this month. So thank you for asking.
- 30:36Speaker 2: And at the same time, it has been emotionally draining
- 30:40Speaker 2: having have to start stop, start stop, But at the
- 30:43Speaker 2: same time, it's a movie that my cast we've talked about.
- 30:47Speaker 2: We're going to remember this for the rest of our lives.
- 30:49Speaker 2: I mean we actually feel we actually feel like it's
- 30:52Speaker 2: a television series because we've been with each other for
- 30:55Speaker 2: like seven months now on and off, so it is
- 30:58Speaker 2: it's been really, really tough. And then you have to
- 31:01Speaker 2: stay in the moment creatively, like I have to start stop,
- 31:03Speaker 2: start stop. So so that part of it's been tough.
- 31:06Speaker 2: But at the same time, I'm still preserving the high
- 31:10Speaker 2: of of doing this and and et cetera. And then
- 31:13Speaker 2: of course, Megan Fox, as you know on our last
- 31:17Speaker 2: podcast and all over the press. I guess you know,
- 31:20Speaker 2: Megan Fox and Shane m kelly got together, uh after
- 31:24Speaker 2: we shot the first part of our movie, and and
- 31:28Speaker 2: and and that's been exciting. I guess you know. They're
- 31:32Speaker 2: both friends of ours and they're so happy, and that's
- 31:35Speaker 2: been something really positive that's come out.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Of Uh, it's going to be a really good movie.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Shortsy I've seen yeah you.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Still yeah, Randall, You've you've produced hundreds of movies, over
- 31:46Speaker 4: one hundred movies. You're like, you're you're you're a veteran.
- 31:48Speaker 4: You've seen you've seen it, done almost everything. But going
- 31:51Speaker 4: into this, did you have like a little trepidation.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Oh my god, Shortzy, you should have a podcast. You're
- 31:57Speaker 1: a great interviewer.
- 31:59Speaker 4: No, I'm just I was just curious because I randall you,
- 32:01Speaker 4: you know, like again, you're You're in the definition of
- 32:04Speaker 4: a pro in the industry. You've done it all. But
- 32:06Speaker 4: were you a little Was there a little piece of
- 32:08Speaker 4: you that was nervous?
- 32:09Speaker 2: Oh my god, oh Schwartz, I'll put it out there.
- 32:13Speaker 2: I was petrified going into this experience. I mean, forget it.
- 32:17Speaker 2: I mean you got to understand. When I walk on
- 32:18Speaker 2: a set as a producer, it's like home for me.
- 32:22Speaker 2: You know, It's like it's like I know, I know
- 32:24Speaker 2: the ins and outs. There's nothing that could kind of
- 32:26Speaker 2: shake me. But as a director going into this, I
- 32:30Speaker 2: didn't know what to experience, and I was petrified. I
- 32:32Speaker 2: kept it to myself. Obviously, Lala knew. I used to
- 32:34Speaker 2: call her and be like, oh my god, I'm gonna
- 32:36Speaker 2: be the biggest failure at this baby, and She's like, no,
- 32:39Speaker 2: this is gonna.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Be your I always knew you'd be great at it
- 32:41Speaker 3: because you have a way with actors, and that's what
- 32:43Speaker 3: a director is supposed to do, is why with actors.
- 32:46Speaker 2: I've learned a lot. Listen, I've been very lucky. I've
- 32:49Speaker 2: learned a lot over twenty three years with the greatest
- 32:52Speaker 2: directors in the world and also some not so great directors,
- 32:55Speaker 2: and I've taken as much as I can take. And
- 32:58Speaker 2: I'll tell you, Schwartz, it really the night before we
- 33:01Speaker 2: started filming, I was probably in a cold sweat, and
- 33:04Speaker 2: I woke up that morning and I just I was
- 33:07Speaker 2: so overly prepared, you know. I went to every location
- 33:11Speaker 2: twenty times and walked it and blocked it with my cinematographer.
- 33:14Speaker 2: But the day came when when it was day one
- 33:16Speaker 2: to roll, and I just got on that set and
- 33:20Speaker 2: just the magic, you know, happened. It's a cliche, but
- 33:23Speaker 2: it just I just felt like I was where I
- 33:25Speaker 2: was supposed to be. And even though I was the
- 33:28Speaker 2: first week, I was learning a little bit, you know,
- 33:31Speaker 2: it was kind of things, kind of finding my my rhythm. Yeh.
- 33:35Speaker 2: But I tell you, the creative high that I have
- 33:39Speaker 2: found through directing is second to none, and I'm just
- 33:43Speaker 2: so blessed to have found this.
- 33:45Speaker 1: At this at this I feel like we're on Shorty's
- 33:47Speaker 1: podcast right now.
- 33:48Speaker 2: I know, Shorts, you need to have a freaking podcast.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Because you are good. How you flip this switch? How
- 33:54Speaker 2: you flip this switch on us? When I was asking
- 33:56Speaker 2: about your feelings a Vanner pop, I mean, damn, you're good.
- 33:59Speaker 2: You're good, Switzerland.
- 34:02Speaker 4: I'm excited for you, guys, La La you too. You
- 34:04Speaker 4: got a movie coming out, don't you spree?
- 34:06Speaker 1: I think, yeah, oh this podcast, well yes, I yeah,
- 34:10Speaker 1: yes I do. It is now in theaters and on demand.
- 34:14Speaker 4: I'm so proud of you, Like, I'm so proud of
- 34:16Speaker 4: you because I moved here to be an actor. I
- 34:18Speaker 4: love acting. I feel like I just love being on set.
- 34:22Speaker 4: I love I love getting my makeup done. I love
- 34:25Speaker 4: craft services. I love waking up at five a m.
- 34:27Speaker 4: But here's the thing. I'm not a good actor.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's so bad.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Is but it is like the experience of being on
- 34:37Speaker 3: set that's pretty epic. I'm the happiest when I'm on
- 34:41Speaker 3: set because it's different, schwartzy. You get to like read
- 34:43Speaker 3: a script and then you disengage from it, where like
- 34:46Speaker 3: when we do our show, you it's hard to not
- 34:48Speaker 3: take it home with you.
- 34:49Speaker 2: You know, I get it because when you guys, when
- 34:52Speaker 2: you guys are in the thick of the drama, it's
- 34:54Speaker 2: not scripted drama. It's your real life trauma. You used
- 34:57Speaker 2: to Lala, You used to have a really and I mean,
- 34:59Speaker 2: I don't know if people know this, but you used
- 35:00Speaker 2: to have a really hard time in the beginning of
- 35:02Speaker 2: our relationship. Used to come home, yeah, really really down
- 35:05Speaker 2: and it was tough and it was hard.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Are you Are you good at separating yourself?
- 35:09Speaker 4: Shortzy, I'm okay. I tend to freeze up in the
- 35:12Speaker 4: audition room, like, for instance, I just got my seg
- 35:15Speaker 4: GOM status reinstated. I paid dues and I did a
- 35:17Speaker 4: little me and Tom did a little bit, a little
- 35:20Speaker 4: bit on Sherman Showcase and it felt so good to
- 35:22Speaker 4: be back. But I got to say, you know, I
- 35:24Speaker 4: was on set and we had dialogue and one of
- 35:26Speaker 4: my first lines is, well, Sherman Showcases this really, really
- 35:29Speaker 4: cool show created by Bashir Salahuden and Diella Riddle, and
- 35:33Speaker 4: check it out anybody, if you haven't seen Sherman Showcase.
- 35:35Speaker 4: That's really good. But god set, I it was it
- 35:38Speaker 4: was my time to shine. And my first line was
- 35:42Speaker 4: something along the lines of walking we walked in this bar,
- 35:44Speaker 4: and my line was it's refined yet accessible. But I
- 35:47Speaker 4: kept forgetting the word accessible and it is one of
- 35:50Speaker 4: the worst feelings ever. Yeah. Yeah, have you ever just
- 35:55Speaker 4: have you ever just bombed on set la la or
- 35:57Speaker 4: froze up?
- 35:58Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 35:59Speaker 4: All the time.
- 36:00Speaker 3: But you know what I've learned as I got older,
- 36:03Speaker 3: like I did it more. I would like just be honest, like, yo, dude,
- 36:06Speaker 3: I I don't even know what I'm doing or where
- 36:08Speaker 3: I am right now, So like you guys need to
- 36:10Speaker 3: give me five minutes.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Yeah, we go back to the original question though both
- 36:15Speaker 2: of you both went you just went on tyrants, both
- 36:17Speaker 2: of tyraids, both of you. The question was I love
- 36:21Speaker 2: you Tom? The question no what I was asking. And
- 36:25Speaker 2: I have actually a more detailed question to the question
- 36:27Speaker 2: that we skipped over, okay, which Tom is a professional? Tom,
- 36:29Speaker 2: you should run for governor. And I'm serious, by the way,
- 36:34Speaker 2: not even joking. I want to ask you, Tom, where
- 36:37Speaker 2: Lala used to bring home the emotion of a tough
- 36:40Speaker 2: scene on very Sadde. Tom, tell me a moment in
- 36:47Speaker 2: eight years, one of the hardest scenes that affected you
- 36:51Speaker 2: where you went home to Katie at home. I'm not
- 36:53Speaker 2: talking not even with to do with you and Katie,
- 36:55Speaker 2: but a scene in Vander pump a day.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Why the camera shut down?
- 36:59Speaker 4: You were you?
- 37:00Speaker 2: And I'm still very upset. Do you remember something specific?
- 37:03Speaker 4: That's a great question, and like that happens every single season,
- 37:07Speaker 4: that happens. One that stands out would be when I
- 37:10Speaker 4: had to confess to Katie that I had, you know,
- 37:13Speaker 4: been unfaithful, that I had cheated on her, that had
- 37:16Speaker 4: made out with some stranger. But like that was one
- 37:18Speaker 4: of the most gut wrenching, awful and I had to
- 37:20Speaker 4: do it twice.
- 37:21Speaker 6: If you remember, I was kind of I went through
- 37:24Speaker 6: kind of a well, I was kind of a make
- 37:26Speaker 6: up select for a while there. And we were we were,
- 37:30Speaker 6: we were going through we were we had a rocky
- 37:33Speaker 6: relationship in the beginning, for sure, you know there was.
- 37:36Speaker 2: And we when we all we understand, we've all been
- 37:39Speaker 2: there and and honestly, but what what I'm that's amazing
- 37:43Speaker 2: that you you know, it was codmit. But let me
- 37:46Speaker 2: let me say this, so so it's got to be
- 37:48Speaker 2: like life is hard already, and when you guys put
- 37:51Speaker 2: yourself out there and you have to have one of
- 37:53Speaker 2: these really tough scenes and go home, it can't just
- 37:56Speaker 2: turn off, right, I Mean, it's got to that that's
- 38:00Speaker 2: what That's what would be hardest for me.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Is you have to take it home. However, many months
- 38:06Speaker 1: later it airs.
- 38:07Speaker 4: Then everyone gets to that's the thing. You have to
- 38:10Speaker 4: relive it, and you have to leave reliving when it airs.
- 38:12Speaker 4: Also on social media, you have to and you also
- 38:15Speaker 4: have to feel the wrasp of everyone else who's watching.
- 38:17Speaker 4: It's kind of an undergoing therapyons of people you know,
- 38:21Speaker 4: and it's I have a.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Question, I have a que I have a questions. Tell
- 38:25Speaker 2: me to stop talking because I cut everybody off and
- 38:27Speaker 2: cut everyone off exciting. I'm exciting.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Okay, ask your ask your other question.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Maybe I have another question. Thank. I just love talking.
- 38:38Speaker 2: It's so fun because I never get to talk as
- 38:40Speaker 2: let me talk. Ever, you're so good at it, both
- 38:42Speaker 2: of you. Okay, Tom, I don't want you to run
- 38:48Speaker 2: for governor. I want you to run for president. Tom.
- 38:51Speaker 2: One other question, So, what is the biggest drama that
- 38:55Speaker 2: you've ever had with one of the guys. And I
- 38:57Speaker 2: know they're your best friend, Santavall and Jack's that's the
- 39:00Speaker 2: biggest drama you ever had between the three of you,
- 39:03Speaker 2: that that that you thought might not even be able
- 39:06Speaker 2: to it was beyond repair.
- 39:08Speaker 4: Do you remember it's I mean, I don't know if
- 39:12Speaker 4: I don't know if you watched all episodes this last season,
- 39:14Speaker 4: but everything that sort of has happened with Tom and
- 39:16Speaker 4: Jack's throughout the wedding is probably been the worst, the worst,
- 39:22Speaker 4: the little the worst, the worst trial of our little threesome,
- 39:27Speaker 4: you know what I mean. We're We're the three amigos.
- 39:30Speaker 4: Those are the people I met first in La Tom,
- 39:33Speaker 4: then Jack's. You know, we lived together for two years
- 39:35Speaker 4: before the show started, and we bonded on a very
- 39:38Speaker 4: deep level. I love those guys, and to see them
- 39:41Speaker 4: where they are now, barely talking or acknowledging each other's existence,
- 39:46Speaker 4: it hurts. Once again. I feel like a child of divorce.
- 39:49Speaker 4: I mean, you know Jack's Jacks has Tom, Tom and
- 39:51Speaker 4: I tattooed on his arm, and uh, I'm optimistic that
- 39:56Speaker 4: they'll be friends against some day. I just don't know
- 39:57Speaker 4: if it'll ever be like it used to be. Something
- 40:00Speaker 4: just feels different this time.
- 40:01Speaker 2: And yeah, I I didn't even know that.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Pretty gut wrenching.
- 40:07Speaker 4: That's what I'm wrong.
- 40:08Speaker 1: But I hope you're wrong too.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I'm late to the party as far as
- 40:13Speaker 3: like your guys' friendship. But you know, we are a
- 40:16Speaker 3: big dysfunctional family, and I like to believe that we
- 40:20Speaker 3: can get over our dysfunctions sometimes and really just forgive
- 40:24Speaker 3: and forget, like like a real family does.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Yeah exactly, I know, I know we've really ran the
- 40:31Speaker 4: garments together. Yeah, I'm surprised we're not more jaded and cynical.
- 40:37Speaker 2: La la oh.
- 40:38Speaker 1: I know we're all a bunch of nut jobs.
- 40:41Speaker 4: Dude, I know, I know we're high functioning nut jobs.
- 40:44Speaker 1: But we're high functioning nut jobs. I'm okay with that.
- 40:49Speaker 2: I love that you guys own that I am not.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Of course, Well, I think you have to have a
- 40:54Speaker 3: screw loose to do reality TV, to be like, yeah,
- 40:57Speaker 3: you can totally like see my whole life, right, you
- 41:01Speaker 3: have a little bit wacky What did you say?
- 41:03Speaker 4: Tom? But if you had to go back and tell
- 41:05Speaker 4: your sixteen year old self that you would be on
- 41:06Speaker 4: a successful reality show on Bravo TV, like I don't,
- 41:10Speaker 4: I would. I wouldn't just not believe it. I would
- 41:12Speaker 4: like if you would have told me that when I
- 41:14Speaker 4: was sixteen, there's no way in hell you would find
- 41:18Speaker 4: me doing reality TV.
- 41:20Speaker 2: But here we are.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Here, we are Jess, No, I would. I would have
- 41:23Speaker 3: laughed at you because I would have been like, I'm
- 41:25Speaker 3: going to win Oscars and.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Crazy and here we are still.
- 41:32Speaker 4: I still think you are Oh I do want Tom.
- 41:35Speaker 1: I just want to keep you in my pocket. You
- 41:36Speaker 1: guys are the best ever.
- 41:37Speaker 2: I want to say one thing though, and to give
- 41:40Speaker 2: you guys, and I always have given you guys this
- 41:42Speaker 2: credit since the minute I got involved with Lava. It
- 41:46Speaker 2: is you know, you guys are self deprecating, you make
- 41:49Speaker 2: fun of yourselves. But the truth is to have a
- 41:51Speaker 2: show one of the top three shows on a network
- 41:54Speaker 2: for eight years going into your ninth, it is a
- 41:57Speaker 2: huge accolade and I don't care reality non reality. To
- 42:01Speaker 2: have a show that has lasted this long, you guys
- 42:04Speaker 2: are doing something very special. So at the end of
- 42:06Speaker 2: the day, take all the bullshit away. You are a
- 42:09Speaker 2: success and you should always be proud of that.
- 42:12Speaker 1: I agree. We're fucking badass, shortsy, Oh thank you.
- 42:15Speaker 2: We do.
- 42:15Speaker 4: We do completely put ourselves out there. I mean radical honesty.
- 42:19Speaker 4: We I mean we don't hold anything back. I don't
- 42:21Speaker 4: have any secrets left to be secrets, Like you know,
- 42:25Speaker 4: we put everything out there. And yeah, I'm glad. I
- 42:28Speaker 4: think people do appreciate. I get a lot of positive
- 42:31Speaker 4: feedback and sometimes not so positive.
- 42:35Speaker 1: I'm ready to say I've.
- 42:36Speaker 4: Been a little, a little numb to social media lately.
- 42:39Speaker 2: I haven't.
- 42:39Speaker 4: I've lost that love and feeling. But it'll be back.
- 42:42Speaker 1: It'll be back. We're in a weird time. It'll all
- 42:45Speaker 1: come back and be normal.
- 42:46Speaker 2: I think that because of the time we're in, I
- 42:48Speaker 2: think all of us have had to pivot to what,
- 42:51Speaker 2: you know, remember what's important in life. And I think
- 42:54Speaker 2: as time comes back, social media will be that fun,
- 42:58Speaker 2: light thing versus kind of what's really around us and
- 43:01Speaker 2: what we're all having to deal with that.
- 43:02Speaker 3: And the goal after things get back to normal is
- 43:05Speaker 3: to get the friendship between Tom, Tom and I meaning
- 43:09Speaker 3: you guys, you, Tom and Jacksie back on track.
- 43:13Speaker 1: That's my new mission.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Love.
- 43:14Speaker 4: I've been doing I've been doing some some work, but
- 43:17Speaker 4: it's gonna take a while.
- 43:18Speaker 1: It's gonna take a while, but I believe in you.
- 43:20Speaker 4: Shortzy you you, thank you.
- 43:22Speaker 1: I have a way of bringing love.
- 43:25Speaker 4: Thank you, guys, you're bothering me up. I appreciate it.
- 43:28Speaker 3: We are really grateful that you woke up at this
- 43:31Speaker 3: hour on a Sunday to do this podcast.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Yes, we're very grateful Tom, thank you buddy for doing this.
- 43:36Speaker 2: And we love you. We love all everybody you know,
- 43:39Speaker 2: the whole cast.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Tell Katie I love her so much.
- 43:42Speaker 4: I will I will pickleball sooner and a nickelball.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Yes, all right, Shortzy, We'll see you soon.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Bye bye bye you guys, Love you
